Key claims and notable examples

  • Seahawks at Jaguars: Jaguars’ elite offensive line vs Seattle pass rush; Seahawks secondary banged up (Devin Witherspoon, Julian Love out). Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. expected to be featured on offense; Brenton Strange to IR (at least four weeks).
  • Rams at Ravens: Rams’ blueprint to beat them is pressuring/attacking corners and exploiting Baltimore’s defensive trust issues; Ravens’ Lamar likely out. Rams run defense matchup: Ravens defense ranked 27th vs run; expect more Blake Corum.
  • Chiefs at Lions (Sunday Night): Chiefs offense “back” with more deep throws and outside-pocket yardage; Lions missing CBs Tarion Arnold and DJ Reed. Lions’ pass rush/OT Taylor Decker availability highlighted.
  • Browns at Steelers: Steelers getting Alex Highsmith, Joey Porter Jr., and Jalen Warren back; Steelers’ front vs Browns’ Dylan Gabriel quick processing and tight-end usage (Darnell Washington).
  • Cardinals at Colts: Cardinals’ resilience questioned; defense strong early (EPA per play drops late). Colts’ Josh Downs and Daniel Jones efficiency emphasized.
  • Chargers at Dolphins: Dolphins defense described as worst; Chargers’ offensive line injuries hurting run game and pass protection; Darren Waller driving red-zone success.

2:11Welcome to NFL Daily, where the vibes in this room are dope as hell. I'm Greg Rosenthal here in the Chris Wessling podcast studio with my friends, Patrick Claibon and Jordan Rodrigue. This is NFL Daily. We're all coming down from QB Island episode, but we're here with the week six preview. And a great week. It is, except for the teams that are, you know, looking for their first win. No, no team has ever started 0 and 5 and made it to the postseason. OK, but, you know, the Jets. Yet. The Jets could change everything. And yeah, if you're new here, we do conferences separately. And I alluded to the room in the NFL where the vibes are dope as hell.

2:56But you're going to have to hang around until the second block of the show to find out what room that is. That's a deep tease. You won't guess which room is dope as hell. But let's start with a team that's played in some dope as hell football games, the Seattle Seahawks in the game of the week last week going on the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars who are favored by one and a half at home the over under is 46 and a half Chris Myers Christina Pink on the call Greg how did the Jags come back after a big emotional fun win on Monday Night Football it is a tricky one to have to play this Seahawks defense right after like you know such a high.

3:34And I am curious, though, how the offensive line specifically holds up against the Seattle pass rush, because I think it's two units that we should be talking about. Number one is the numbers in the eye test for the Jaguars. Their offensive line have been elite. Like you would not have expected that they would have been one of the best offensive lines in the league. Part of that in terms of pass protection might be because of the opponents that they face. And you would think that this would be a tougher test. Then again, watching that Seahawks Bucks game, I was kind of like, man, did I overrate this Seattle pass rush?

4:07Did they need like a couple, not more dudes, but a dude or two at a higher level? Cause they got dominated. Maybe it was just a one week thing, but that's, that's one matchup I'm really looking at.

4:17Gregg Rosenthal:This is a team I think to very much keep an eye on ahead of the trade deadline as it pertains to that very topic. They've been a little banged up. Yeah. The Seahawks, they've been a little banged up, particularly at the edges. The interior is, is doing fine, I think, but they really need some of that outside rush. And part of the problem as well is they've been banged up at both safety and corner. So it's kind of tough to know, okay, it's not going to be sending Ernest Jones on a blitz every single time. And they need to get more pressure on the outsides. They had one quarterback back hit in that game game of the year, in my opinion, by the way, is an incredible game.

4:51Gregg Rosenthal:One quarterback hit didn't happen until the fourth quarter. And that's something that Mike McDonald is being pressed by reporters on all week this week. And kind of interesting that they weren't in necessarily on that Odafeo trade because there's some connections there as well. Boy, Mafeo, Ochenanuosu, Derek Hall's not really an out. There's a lot of potential. You would think. Were you, by the way, Jordan, disappointed because I know you were watching that game that you couldn't recap it on the show. I was. I was texting you. I said, every time Kevin Harlan even calls a good punt, I'm smiling and kicking my feet.

5:22I don't disagree. That might have been game of the year. I think you got it. No, those teams going up and down the field and on game day view when I saw your initial score that you picked because you had the Bucs defense giving up 30 and I'm like oh Greg that's not gonna happen both teams did in fact like the points per game allowed for the Seahawks was 16.8 going in uh to this game and then Baker and company put up 38 and I'm willing to chalk it up uh to that being an anomaly uh because you know especially considering how different these teams are and the way that they operate and we got the the YOLO version of Trev where he was running a whole lot on Monday Night Football.

5:59You got to see him at his best, like hitting those throws to the outside where he can show off the arm strength there. But I think it works a little bit differently in this matchup where the Seahawks defense is more about the sum of the parts than any particular player stepping out and making a big play. I'm excited for it, but I don't think we're going to get the high-flying shootout that we got. I think the availability for the players for the Seahawks makes a big deal because we skipped it a little bit in last week's preview. It's a big deal that Devin Witherspoon and Julian Love are not on the field for the Seahawks the last couple of games.

6:32Those are their best two players in the secondary. And you think, well, Mike McDonald, he can scheme it up. Like there's a point where the players matter more. Darian Kendrick, Naramaya Pritchett. Their number one quarterback this year has definitely been Josh Jobe, which credit to him, he's playing well. But he was a guy that couldn't make the Eagles a couple of years ago. You know, Kobe Bryant's playing well. They had the safety Okuda. Like, they're just not talented enough if they don't get those two guys back, maybe to match up against a Jaguars passing game, which I think the arrow is pointing up for Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr.

7:05Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah, that's a huge matchup point to me because there's talk locally of some of those defensive backs coming back. Even though they might come back, they are still banged up. They're coming off of injuries. And so that has forced them to miss one, if not more games. And this passing game for Jacksonville, as messy fun as it was at times this week on Monday Night Football, you could really tell it's starting to find a clear identity. They're starting to figure out which receivers work best in different spots. I think I like to point to Patrick Claibon for rightfully shaming all of the Brian Thomas Jr.

7:45Gregg Rosenthal:inbreaker calls because you're seeing actually more outbreaking routes and outside perimeter shots for Brian Thomas Jr. And you're seeing Travis Hunter make some big plays and really find his place on offense. And I think that this game, you might see another Travis Hunter offense game because the Seahawks like to go in 12 personnel. They like to use these combo one and two receivers, JSN and Cooper cup, Cooper cup made some pretty crucial third and medium third and short catches. And in doing so last week, set up himself as a threat on a lot of the under concepts. So they were able to deploy a lot of their combination routes with JSN as the over, including for that touchdown absolute dime by Sam Dardold, who's dealing right now.

8:26Gregg Rosenthal:And so I think that having less necessarily a need for multiple corners, you know, you need to make sure you're guarding the receivers, obviously. But Devin Lloyd in the middle of the field and, you know, some of the safety play they're getting. Jordan Lewis is really holding it down for them as well. Jacksonville. I don't know that you need Travis Hunter so much on defense this week. You definitely want him on offense to try to attack these banged up corners and safeties. And that's the promise that we all hope for was being able to utilize this player and deploy him in the way that you need him for a particular matchup because playing every single snap on offense and defense looks to be an impossibility.

9:03So why not utilize him in the right way? And there's more targets to go around. Well, I think it changes the offense a little bit because Brenton Strange was playing so good at tight end in the run and the pass game. He's going to IR, so he's going to be down at least four weeks. That is a big loss for them. And it's strength on strength when you think about Seattle's deep passing game. They're one of the best deep passing teams in the league against a Jaguars defense. It's prevented the big pass, like heavy zone team. I did want to update just on the announcers for this game. We have confirmed it will be Mark Schlereth on the call with Chris Myers.

9:41Mark Sanchez will not be on this call. Okay. You said Mark there. No, it'll be Mark Schlereth. Mark Schlereth. Yes.

9:47Gregg Rosenthal:Started with an S, too. You had me in the first half. I'm not kidding. To our next game, the Los Angeles Rams, rightfully a 7.5 point favorite at the Baltimore Ravens. The over-under is 44.5. half games on Fox. So Kevin Burkhart, Tom Brady and Andrews, Tom Rinaldi. Clearly, they picked the team on the call when they thought that this was going to be a fun, exciting game. Jordan, the Baltimore Ravens are morose. Oh, yeah. You know, I came in, Patrick, and I started talking to you about it. And I was like, this is how the Ravens can beat the Rams. Throw at the corners. And then Patrick very aptly said, Cooper Rush throw at the corners.

10:27Gregg Rosenthal:Oh, man. Cooper Rush is taking too much heat for last week. He was fine. The rest of this, this organization that's falling apart. But you're right. That is going to be difficult. Here's the problem. This has been a thing. And this is more, maybe less so about how this game specifically will go. Because we understand where the Ravens are struggling right now. And I have no doubt that this Matthew Stafford, Puka Nakua, Devontae Adams, Kyron Williams, whichever tight end Sean McVay feels happiest with this week to throw out there. Like I have no doubt they're going to score points right on this like battered defense.

10:59Gregg Rosenthal:However, it's more of a commentary on like the Rams have serious problems that they have had since the spring or questions that they've had since the spring. And to be legitimate down the stretch, especially against the type of blueprint that Kyle Shanahan once again deployed against them in another one of the best games of the season so far, clearly daring the corners to press tighter. The Rams clearly don't trust them to do so and had them back sitting in that deeper zone. And then the patient team can pick and poke. And then Mac Jones was able to take his shots when he could. And they just, they don't trust.

11:33Gregg Rosenthal:Without Akella Witherspoon, who is their better, one of their better corners who will press, they just don't trust them clearly. And this has been a question mark since the spring. And it is the way to beat the Rams if you can mitigate the passing. They have good receivers, the Baltimore Ravens. I mean, I saw Zay Flowers put Derek Stingley in the dirt. That play was not replayed enough. Zay Flowers literally put the best cornerback in the league, perhaps, like on the ground, and Cooper Rush gave him a dime. Yeah. And great. Cooper Rush. It was like 35 to 7 at that point, but still, it happened.

12:06Wins football. The problem is the issues up front and the protection in the pass game are the same, except you don't have one of the more imaginative and creative players in the NFL in the past 20 years back there, you do have Cooper Rush. And again, not to demean or benign Cooper Rush, but the six highest paid players on the team were out last week. And I don't know, we're here on Wednesday, how many of them you get back in this home game against the Rams in a part of the season where you hope to be able to slide through a couple of these games at home. And if you go back and watch all of the C.J.

12:44Stroud touchdowns, he's in a pocket virtually with even more time. He could have thrown the ball twice with some of those pockets that he threw out of. And they made CJ Stroud look electric on the outside. And Nick Chubb is flying past people in 2025 where they're not just hurt. They're slow. They're slow. And there's some schematic issues as well. It's all bad. Lamar was out of practice on Wednesday. And I think it'd be quite surprising if he plays in this game. And yeah, you hit on it with the with the like just total lack of team speed on the defensive side. And you think about this matchup specifically.

13:21It is, I believe, the number one team in terms of success rate, in terms of design runs, the Rams. Give me some more Blake Corum in this game. Like, I do feel like the Ravens defense at this point is kind of a defense you can just kind of work on some things against. Like they they fix the Texans. And so I think like let's get let's get Ferguson in the mix at tight end. Let's get Corum in the mix. And the Ravens run defense is 27th in the league against the run.

13:48Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah. Kyron Williams, the Rams starting running back, looking to rebound from another fumbling issue that was pretty costly in last week's game. You mentioned fixing some things. This is kind of a sneaky thing to watch for the Rams this week. Justin Diedich has still been starting at left guard, even though Steve Avila is not on the injury report anymore. Now he was our second round pick a couple of years ago and has played really, really quality football for them. But it's super interesting that he has not been activated fully in these games. He's been active. He hasn't been activated fully in these games.

14:21Gregg Rosenthal:And it's an undrafted free agent, former center who's playing left or left guard right now. And that's something a little bit to watch. If you want to try to trade for him. It's like another, another part of the team where they actually don't have injuries. Well, that's not true. Ronnie Stanley has been out of practice, although I think he was practicing Wednesday. Wednesday that the Ravens out, uh, Roquan Smith, Marlon Humphrey, Jadobe Awuzie. That one is a little new, uh, another cornerback in Patrick or card in addition to Lamar. So they, they could have a couple players back, but not, not a lot.

14:55Yeah. Not, not a lot of reason, uh, to be confident, but a lot of reasons to be confident in the Rams, uh, and seven and a half points. Yeah. It doesn't seem like enough. It's time for the Sunday drive presented by Toyota. Let's go places. If it was not enough, 10 and a half for the Detroit Lions against the Cincinnati Bengals last week. And now they're going to go on the road at Kansas City, who are favored by two and a half points, Greg, in a sign of disrespect to Dan Campbell. And I'm on Ross St. Brown, who keeps track of disrespect. It's Sunday Night Football. Mike Tirico, Chris Collinsworth, Melissa Stark.

15:30Florio is on the call. Tosh is. Florio is not on the call. That is not accurate. He's on the pregame. And it's, you know, it's not our mic. It's not the good mic. It's the other mic. How do you feel about the Kansas City Chiefs spiraling in 2025? They feel like the opposite of the 24 Chiefs where they're better than their record, right? Because I think the defense since that week one game has looked better. I think they've found answers in the secondary. They got to cook up some pass rush, but they have been pretty effectively. And the offense looks explosive. Patrick Mahomes is doing exactly what I asked, which is just bring.

16:07Gregg Rosenthal:He heard you, Greg. Just bring the fun back. He got your email. Just bring the fun back. He's got seven throws this year, completions of over 20 air yards. That's almost as many as he had all of last season. He also leads the NFL in yardage in terms of throws outside the pocket. So that's Patrick in create mode. I think the offensive line is playing well. I know they lost that game. It was a fluky game to me. They almost put up 500 yards. That's just one game, but we've put two together and they're going up, I think most importantly, against a Lions team that are going to be without their two starting cornerbacks, Tarion Arnold and DJ Reed.

16:43And this is a bad week for that to happen to Detroit.

16:45Gregg Rosenthal:Tarion Arnold, the situation is a little strange. I'm happy for him. If he's on a more positive course, then maybe it was initially reported by Dan Campbell, who said that he was probably going to be out with that shoulder injury for quote a long, long time. But then reports came out earlier this week that he got a second opinion and maybe it's less than they expected, which is great. Might be a couple of weeks they say now, but I always worry about that second opinion. He was playing great. Yeah, it's like, it was for me. I gave the opinion. He was playing great before the injury, playing really well, really helping to bring that secondary to life in a big way.

17:21Gregg Rosenthal:And I think it is one of the bigger stories of the season. We were hoping for this, objectively speaking, but we were hoping for this, that this Kansas City Chiefs offensive line with a rookie and a left guard who changed positions would be looking like this at this point in the season. To me, they look really good, and every week they are looking more and more solid and stable. Giving him, I know Trayvon Walker was out last week, but giving him, giving Patrick Mahomes felt like years at times to throw without having to scramble around and make one of those like hero ball throws, which I think bodes very, very well and dangerously for everybody else.

18:00Yeah, I think those deep passing attempts can be more of a credit to the offensive line performing better than some sort of vast difference between Patrick Mahomes and this offense. My concern for the Lions is without Terry on Arnold. They play man at one of the highest rates in the league. Shepard coming out and pointing out that even for those who are critical of Terry on Arnold, they put a lot on him and they ask him to do a lot. I don't know that they can execute the game plan that they would like to execute against this KC team that's having to have Juju run run deeper routes. I know they have a whole lot of speed, but a lot of that offense is running through Juju going out there and setting Andrew Bogut screens for Travis Kelsey when things get constricted a little bit.

18:44And so you need your guys on defense to go up against the Chiefs here. I may pick the winner of this game based on Taylor Decker's availability because he missed last week and I know they won that game easy. But Giovanni Manu, who has always been on my radar because he was a guy that the Lions gave up multiple mid-round picks to trade up for that was like a CFL guy had barely ever played football. And it was definitely a moment of Brad Holmes feeling himself just like, I'm going to give up two picks for this guy that, you know, not that familiar with. And it's taken him a little bit while. He finally got his first start in terms of Taylor Decker was out last week.

19:21And I know PFF isn't perfect, but his PFF pass blocking grade is not old enough to vote. You know, it was it was rough, like what was happening in that game. And then you think about, you know, him against this Chiefs defense would send pressure and just confuse what a left tackle has to do. And maybe this Lions offense won't, you know, hum as well in a tougher matchup if Decker is off the field.

19:46Gregg Rosenthal:It's always hard to be the one guy who stands out that way. Yes. The rest of the group look great against Cincinnati. Yes. Well, yeah. Against Cincinnati. Yeah. Right. I mean, all year they have, really. I mean, it's this, this, I think we're going to get another fun one and I'm excited for that. Um, especially because it's the, you know, the prime time, you know, we get, we, we've been getting some really fun ones in the late, in the witching hour, the late witching hour, not the early chaos window. And I, I think this is going to be another fun one because I just can't see Kansas city like letting this happen to them.

20:18Honestly, cause it's the lions.

20:19Gregg Rosenthal:Cause it's the lions are so smothering and incredible. They're best team in football right now, but like, and I'm probably going to curse them I'm sorry in advance because I do that. Apparently it's me. I'm sorry. But I, I really don't, I can't see, I mean, Patrick Mahomes, especially with some of the weirdness that tilted that game, the way that it did for the chiefs last week. And then like the, the ultimate like gut punch of the shot of Chris Jones, just kind of watching Trevor Lawrence stumble, bumble, tumble hair flowing into, into the end zone. I mean, it, it like, obviously you don't think the play is still going and all of that, but like, it's just objectively watching it short week too, for them.

21:02You're angry.

21:04Gregg Rosenthal:You're mad as hell. And also, but you could say like the universe evening things out. Cause Bolton makes the stop on the Trevor Lawrence breeze, sneaky sneak, trying to go over the top a fraction of an inch before. And then at the end of the game, Chris Jones comes out, you know, against the double team, like a man on fire, sees Trevor on the ground. And he's like, Oh wait, why are we still playing? Wait, what about the world evening itself out in terms of not karma, but just luck on some level of like Chiefs in one score games that like, like now they're losing these close games. They had that Lions game, which sticks in your mind from a couple of years ago to start the season where the Lions went in.

21:43They got a big victory in the kickoff game, a game that is supposed to be almost impossible for the road team to win. I do love the way their linebackers are playing. I just wanted to give a shout out to Alex Anzalone and Jack Campbell and Derek Barnes, who reminds me of old school 90s football, like a real strong side linebacker over there. And he's just like the bigger guy and he's setting the edge. But Anzalone and especially Campbell have been amazing. And then, yeah, Aiden Hutchinson, not O 'Connell, against your boy Josh Simmons.

22:14Gregg Rosenthal:I'm excited for that. That's excited. I'm excited for that. That's a benchmark game. Because I think he might be my defensive player of the year candidate or pick right now. And that's because they have the fourth highest four-man pressure rate in the entire league, the Detroit Lions. And it's basically one guy. Yeah. I mean, without him, I just feel like it all falls apart. And I think, right, because for Hutchinson, you can go and watch all of the chips and the double protection scheme that Josh Hines-Allen had to deal with on Monday night. I think it's going to be a very similar way that the Chiefs approach him coming up on Sunday.

22:48I am really looking forward to this. The NBC, you know, schedule gods. They've done it again. Looking forward to it. Let's take a quick break. On the other side, we will talk about two teams, which I said I saw in person play American football, like with my eyes over the last couple of weeks.

Now, they weren't there that long, but still, that's a decision that they chose to make in And then they're put on the road this week in Pittsburgh.

28:02Gregg Rosenthal:They're also young and spry now. Yeah, they're young and spry. They got rid of Joe Flacco. They got the problem out. No, just kidding. Joe Flacco now Cincinnati Bengal. It's Dylan Gabriel making his second straight start. First start in the United States of America taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jordan, they are favored by five and a half points. The Steelers got some time off when they are back on the field. Excuse me. an eagle jj watt and evan washburn will be there to see what we get for arthur smith and aaron rogers with a chance to sit back and relax and execute a game plan against a very good defense yeah first and foremost uh for some reason my instagram algorithm kept giving me the clips of jj watt talking about his hair care routine i haven't seen that one they're pretty good he's like pretty i think he's he's pretty solid like good sense of humor about himself like talks about bringing his wife's hair dryer.

28:52He changes his hairstyle a lot. I have noticed that.

28:54Gregg Rosenthal:I appreciate it. I appreciate someone who's confident in themselves on that front. So the biggest thing about this game to me, besides the volume in J.J. Watt's hair, is that Mike Tomlin sounded really optimistic so far this week about getting Alex Heismith, Joey Porter Jr., and Jalen Warren back this week. All three of them have missed at least one game. Joey Porter Jr. has missed three with that hamstring. This is potentially huge. It's potentially the Steelers with, you know, the catbird seat in the AFC North and key players returning on defense at this point. I mean, it's potentially massive for them.

29:30Mike Tomlin was asked about the AFC North picture with the other teams struggling. And he said, I'm not a big picture guy. And I was like, well, shouldn't you be? You're the head coach of a football team. I mean, what would have changed for him?

29:44Gregg Rosenthal:This now explains everything now. You can go ahead and house this one against the Browns because the other teams are bad. It doesn't necessarily. I get it. I get it. I am curious. You guys watch that game, you know, on television and being there. I was really. No, no. You pours. You pours. You presence watched it on your screen. I was. And I was there. Because you see different things if you're home. You see a lot of extra things if you're home. Then you see other extra things if you're there. But I felt like all we talked about on our broadcast was Darnell Washington. in that game. And I really did think their personnel choices in that game led almost directly to how effective they were.

30:26They dominated Minnesota up front and Washington was a huge part of that. They essentially benched John and Fryermuth, although they played it like a heavy personnel the whole time. And man, that offensive line playing that well, it was just one week, but they were moving people. And what a great matchup this is when the, when the Steelers have the ball like I think we can see if that's real if that's a one game offensive improvement was that just a one week game plan because this is as tough of a matchup Patrick like as you can get against this Browns defensive line well I think we'd have to wait for another week because if it doesn't work against the Cleveland Browns we could easily say well the Browns are stronger against the run than sure most teams in the league but it may be like even if it's a draw if they're like if they're not dominated even against the Cleveland Browns yeah and you've come into this game where broderick jones is allowing a high pressure rate relative to rest of the left tackles in the league and so he'll see a lot of miles garrett um in a and kind of a bounce back performance for for coach these defense where um the the vikings put a lot of stuff out there that made them look kind of normal um and seeing uh quinshawn juggins have all the success um that he had on the other side but jordan mason was was moving the ball uh as well i like this Browns team.

31:42I feel like if I had to pick, is this like a one in four team other than the Ravens to turn it around this year and just be like, I think the Browns have a lot of positive ingredients if they can get good play out of Dylan Gabriel, like, like I think they did in his first start.

31:58Gregg Rosenthal:Well, I would agree with you because it's all nice to have if you're Mike Tomlin to have some of these guys, especially Alex Heismith kind of helping bring your front to life a little bit more. But I feel like Dylan Gabriel is going to get the ball out quick. I feel like they're going to try to run the ball with Quinshawn Judkins. And I feel like this is a cool game. You always kind of joke, and I actually really like that you do this. Like, I actually do. I'm sorry. But I do really like that you do this when you're like, oh, that's a Jordan Codic game. Because this kind of is. Okay, you got it.

32:25Actually, no way Chuck might take it.

32:27Gregg Rosenthal:There's a lot, but there's a lot of, like, jokery type of players on both sides of the ball in this game, starting with the tight ends. Because I could really see this being a huge Dylan Gabriel hits Harold Fannin on every single type of concept you could possibly think of as this jokery player, especially if Jalen Ramsey cannot get back from this hamstring issue that he's been dealing with. On the other side, you guys mentioned Mount Washington. Like he he's being used in so many different positions. He's taken handoffs like he's doing all of these different things that are really, really interesting and I think makes these defenses have to think more.

33:06Gregg Rosenthal:But it's not just that they're doing it with scheme and math. They're also really physical football teams, too. Yeah, I love the idea of Darnell Washington being in a meeting room next to Jonu Smith and Arthur Smith looking at both of them and having these visions of running all these fun plays with Darnell Washington, where I am mainly interested in how fast Dylan Gabriel got rid of the ball in his very first start. It was the second fastest time to throw over the course of the game that we've seen all season. And making his first career start on the road internationally against Brian Flores, his defense, where it's is that is it was that an anomaly?

33:47Like, are we going to get a whole lot of, you know, chips on T.J. Watt and quick passes to Fannin and Njoku?

33:52Gregg Rosenthal:I think so. Tomlin called Dylan Gabriel's superpower processing. And I think there is something to that. He's an older quarterback who's played. You love that. And I really don't. I know. I like to point out how like, you know, CJ Stroud. You're ageist. It's fine. You know, still like two years younger than Michael Penix and Bo Nix. Like, like, let's give the kids some time. But Gabriel, I think, showed a lot of maturity. And when there were so many quick pressures in that game that he actually got away from and made smart decisions. The problem is his, you know, his offensive line is is not amazing.

34:27And it's a tough match.

34:28Gregg Rosenthal:All I really want. I don't know how this will even be possible, but I would like to see a photo of him standing next to Darnell Washington just to see the difference. That's all I would like out of this game. And also some epic tight end play. I think you're going to get it. I think we're going to get it. The picture might be. I'm trying to think. If I go one for two, I'm good. We can maneuver some some college shenanigans to get Darnell Washington in that picture. I'm all about it. Shenanigans aplenty for the Arizona Cardinals last week. Yeah. And it's no easy bounce back opportunity. They are on the road at the Indianapolis Colts, who are favored by six and a half points.

35:06The over-under is 47 and a half. Kevin Kugler, Moose Johnston, and Allison Williams on the call. Greg, how do the Cardinals bounce back from what was the biggest donation of 2025? I think it will tell us a lot about how this season is going to go. They've been very underwhelming. They should have been 3-2 if not for that fluky and just brutal way to finish that game, but they would have been such an underwhelming 3-2. And if they don't get this win, they have the Packers, then they have a bye. You could be going into the bye week on a four-game losing streak, and the schedule after that is really difficult in general.

35:46So these are the types of weeks that really test a head coach. Jonathan Gannon was asked about what's happening there in the building this week. What is the kind of vibe and energy in this locker room like this week? And how do you kind of keep that up after a loss? Today, dope as hell. Honestly, it really was. It really was. I couldn't start the meeting on time because of the energy in the room.

36:12Gregg Rosenthal:So that's good to see. But we have to make sure that we're out in the details in the meeting room and walk through and practice. But it was really good. It was really good. I'm such a sucker that I see that. And I also heard Mike Garofalo talk on Good Morning Football that this whole touchdown thing from Amari Di Mercado is like a rallying cry now for the team. I'll fall for it and be like, they are going to rally. They are going to play hard. Listen, I understand what a coach and a team is like trying to do out of that moment, especially if the coach, and honestly, bad look, bad moment, honestly, for bad, bad mistake, bad moment, Also bad mistake by Jonathan Gannon as well, who was fined earlier this week as well.

36:53And by the team, not by the team. Yeah,$100 ,000.

36:56Gregg Rosenthal:Yes. And that's important. That was pretty rare. Actually, I think the last person that's happened to is Bruce Arians. So Arizona's tense sometimes. But I feel like this is, I understand what a coach and a team is trying to do. Like being sincere in addressing the team, which I tend to believe he was. being sincere about making mistakes and taking ownership and trying to scrap all of it, bury the tape, all the things that they say. I get that. I don't have any reason to believe that the Cardinals are made of stronger stuff than what we've seen. I don't have any reason to believe that they're made of more resilient stuff than we've seen.

37:35Gregg Rosenthal:And in fact, I was listening to Mina this morning and she pointed out this week on her show, kind of a lack of resilience stat. Now, she did not frame it this way. I don't want to put words in her mouth, but when I'm thinking about this team's inability to close or come back or to make up for bad moments, crazy stat. Arizona is first in EPA per play on defense. Jonathan Gannon's bread and butter here through the first three quarters of a game and drops to 27th in fourth quarters this season. So you want to talk about lack of resilience, show me some resilience, come back literally and emotionally.

38:10Gregg Rosenthal:You know, I mean, I just have no reason to believe that yet. Also, they're just not that good at football on the offensive side, which is more important. Yeah. Like, there's no reason to believe that they're... Oh, you don't want the poetic moment? No, no, I agree with all that. And I think that's all... It's all about our feelings. I think that's true. And I think that's a great note about the defense. And I find it interesting. But I don't have any real big reason to believe that, like, this offense has got to figure it out. Kyler Murray, by the way, was out of practice. on Wednesday. So this could be Jacoby Brissett with a revenge game in Indianapolis.

38:42Yeah. I don't think that's a revenge. They kind of revived his career.

38:46Gregg Rosenthal:He's kind of the perfect backup there too, because he can still throw it around and he knows that offense. He's been in that system. He's kind of the perfect backup just in general for Jacoby Brissett. And two, I don't think the Colts are the opponent that you want in this bounce back situation for the Arizona Cardinals. You can make the case. It's the toughest of this stretch where they've lost by, again, these are game-winning field goals that are happening in the closing moments. Right. Same thing happened to the 49ers in game as well. Yeah. And so it's not like they're out of these games, but I think we can get the best version of the Arizona Cardinals and they could still lose this, this particular game.

39:25And so like, I don't, not to, to bury the team, but it's just the schedule sometimes determines these things. And this is a doozy for them. Jermaine Pratt was signed today by the Indianapolis Colts. So a reunion with Lou Anarumo. He had played like almost every snap of the Raiders first four games and then wasn't active and then was cut. I'm not sure what happened there. I do want to mention just how good Josh Downs look last week. And it was a reminder, man, they just have so many receivers. They have six receivers over 133 yards last week. They benched A.D. Mitchell last week, which I thought was a little harsh until I watched Ashton Doolin look like one of the best receivers on the team when like he suddenly got some run and there was like a third to third and 12 play to dimes, which I think really encapsulated it where they sent a perfect blitz.

40:16The Raiders did on him last week and he just saw it very calmly, like hit downs who made a play after the catch to pick up the first down. and Daniel Jones just took a shot and he stood in there and he delivered and Downs then made a play. And that's what I think with this team. Like he's not taking any sacks. He's taken four sacks all season long and they just have answers whenever opposing teams like the Cardinals who are a tough matchup give you tough questions.

40:43Gregg Rosenthal:Well, I think it also speaks to how complete the team is that their receivers and the quarterback have numbers like that and still Jonathan Taylor's leading the NFL in rushing. And I know we talk about the Daniel Jones assons a lot and we should and stoked for him, but the Taylor sons has also happened. Yes. And, and yes, Daniel Jones did make it onto QB Island yesterday. I know that the world was a little worried. We might forget about Danny dimes over there. We would never. And, but, but it speaks to their balance. It really does. This is a well-balanced team that is built to continue to do this as long as they can stay healthy because of how complete they are.

41:19Gregg Rosenthal:They're getting the ball done. They're getting it done through the air and on the ground. and it's pretty incredible to watch. The line of sans is what made those other sanses possible. That's fair. They had veteran departures. We wondered how they were going to rebuild it and they have played spectacularly. Sanses. Good point. And that's a feather in the cap of Chris Ballard and that coaching staff. They've been pretty consistent being able to develop and target offensive linemen and be better than you would expect. My apologies to Mr. Ballard. not familiar with your game the next game up is the Los Angeles Chargers favored by four and a half going on the road all the way to Miami to take on the Dolphins 44 and a half is the over under Andrew Catalan Charles Davis Jason McCourty and AJ Ross Greg is the Dolphins defense the cure to what ails this Chargers offense yes it's the worst defense in the league it's a it's a matchup of like bad on bad when the Chargers offensive line tries to run the ball in this game.

42:26But everyone's looked good running the ball against the Miami Dolphins. Kenneth Grant is getting just targeted. They have so much money invested up front, and it's not really working that I feel like one team has Justin Herbert, the other team has Tua, which, if you remember, used to be a big debate on bad talk shows. Remember that? It was a debate. I try to forget. Tua is coming off what I thought was his best game of the year. You know, Tua, if you threw out week one, has looked fine. He's just looked like Tua. I don't think he's looked great.

42:57Gregg Rosenthal:Relative to where he's been, I mean, he's looked like himself. Maybe. I'm not going to say they're better without Tyreek Hill, but I don't know. They look pretty cohesive. Well, they're better when they're getting the ball to Darren Waller. Speaking of Sansa, in a big way, it's crazy to watch how productive he is. And, you know, if this is for real and I think and we think it is because he's still there and producing and a big part of what they do. Happy for him. Happy for both of them. But I don't think they win this game because the Chargers need to gather themselves. I mean, it's embarrassing what happened to their offensive line.

43:36Gregg Rosenthal:There's this audio clip floating around between Bradley Bozeman and Justin Herbert where Bradley Bozeman misses an assignment. and Justin Herbert says, no, no, no, no, pointing out a different assignment. And then they still go with the first one because the snap's already happening. And Justin Herbert, you know, yells, ah, dang it. And I'm saying the polite version of it because I don't want more work for the producers having to bleep me out once again. But it's bad. It's that offensive line is, this is for my colleague, Daniel Popper. Since he got to the NFL in 2020, Justin Herbert has been hit 525 times, which is the most of any quarterback.

44:13Gregg Rosenthal:in that span. And Jim Harbaugh was adamant that they did enough at depth all along the offensive line. You never obviously plan for both of your elite tackles to be out, but locally they're saying, no, this was not enough upfront. Yeah. Oh yeah. Again, like the sheer volume of injuries, it's going to be tough. Like considering roster limitations for anybody to, to deal with this. And the clip is hilarious because Herbert spends most of the play clock adjusting. Yeah. And, and, uh, fixing everyone. Yeah. Um, having Gaston adjust to hot for the blitzer coming off the edge. And then he's about to snap the ball and both points to shift the line.

44:49No. And then he has to snap the ball. But yeah, Darren Waller, I think has fixed the biggest issue for the Miami dolphins over these past few years, which is like giving them some sort of idea to how to go about things in the red zone.

45:00Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah. It's, it's get the ball to Darren Waller and they've gotten touchdowns by Waller and off of Waller where it's like, Hey, this is even better than the John who signs of 2024. It's an incredible story. He was picked up on waivers in my son's 10-year-old fantasy football league. So that's when you know kind of he's hit. They're not really like grinding tape. He's gone mainstream. Yeah, exactly. That's the word I was looking for. When the Dolphins have the ball, though, you said that's been their biggest problem. It's been one of them. But the running game is part of that, right? I just combined that.

45:32And they had zero running game last week. And that's another big weakness-on-weakness matchup. And it is funny how a couple of weeks can change something. I'm not picking on you for calling them the best team in the league. I didn't think that was crazy either. But when you think about like Jesse Minter now versus Jesse Minter three weeks ago, he's been kind of undressed the last couple of weeks. I think like coach and it's a reminder, like it's more about it's always more about players than coaches. I always personally think that we overrate coaches in general. And like when things are going well, they get like a lot of credit.

46:05It's like quarterbacks. And when things aren't going well, and it's always somewhere in between and they probably don't have enough players, but like Dable and then last week with the Commanders and even the Broncos game where Bo Nix missed a million coverage busts and that they could have put up 40 against the Chargers. Like I think opposing offensive coordinators are dictating the matchups. We talk about dictating of like, we're going to get your guys on the perimeter and have to make some tackles that we know can't and you're going to have these lighter boxes and they're one of the worst tackling teams in football.

46:37And they've kind of been steamrolled the last couple of weeks by like formations, I think, and by just not having the big enough guys to stop the run.

46:46Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah, I would say I agree with you twofold. First of all, the injuries have completely turned around what this team was versus what it is now. I mean, when you compound injuries like that up front, when you miss, you're missing. Part of the reason they traded for Odafeo is his potential. I know he wasn't producing in Baltimore, but his potential from previous production is something they're very clearly keying on. They are deciding they're telling you right now that they, they think this defense will have to carry this team because that is the move that they made, but they're an average defense right now and they're not that injured on defense to be fair.

47:22But,

47:23Gregg Rosenthal:but that's what I'm saying or trying to say is, is missing Khalil Mack completely changes what front structures Jesse mentor wants to play with. It completely changes how you can attack them. just like you said, not just up front, but along the perimeter because it changes. It's a ripple effect of every single player who lines up behind that front. And that's part of what's happening here. And it's a failure to adjust completely. And it's also needing dudes, needing guys back playing and hitting and tackling and actually like executing a more malleable vision than when Jesse Minter started the season.

47:58Well, they've got a dafe away and he is expected to play, according to Jim Harbaugh, who compared him to Cleo Mack. That he's a lot like him. Direct rusher, but his speed has depth. I get what he means. He's just saying that he's that type of player. Like the skill set is similar and that he can definitely help stopping the run. But look, we talked on this podcast coming into the season. We thought pass rush depth was one of the biggest problems on this team because I think counting on Cleo Mack to be a guy that just carries you in the year 2025 is too much. And you could see they didn't have enough players behind him.

48:30That said, they could right the ship here and just get to four and two. Just win a game while you're bringing it up. Let's take a break. And on the other side, we're going to get to the international game this week.

52:10Walmart is proud to give those brands a place on its shelf and online. It's never been easier to find and support small brands. So take a look at Walmart. You might come across something new, something unexpected, or a brand whose story speaks to you. You never know what you're missing until you look. Discover thousands of small brands at walmart.com. Back on NFL Daily and heading back over the pond. I admit it, I'm still feeling it a little bit. I'm back here. I just placed an almost empty coffee cup onto the table next to except the table wasn't there and it just dropped right onto the ground.

52:52The idea of a table. I want to see the crowd bring it in Tottenham this week. It was so good last week in terms of the energy, but it wasn't quite as good, and I haven't mentioned this on the show yet, as the energy at Arsenal that I went to on Saturday. I've never been to a Premier League game before, and I sat in the visitors section for West Ham because I'm a hammer. and shout out to Rob Pritchard who works for West Ham. I've known him over the years and he hooked me and my friend Nat Coombs up with tickets and that was a unique experience which I wish we could bring to like the American audience.

53:31Gregg Rosenthal:It's always good chance. Is it the chance? Yeah, they're creative. The West Ham could not have looked worse. They were absolutely blown out in this game even though it was only 2-0. Like no chances, totally miserable and yet the second they like go down 2-0 they're chanting at the rest of the stadium you're gonna win f all you're gonna win f all and then some other chant about second place that they're gonna finish in second place because that's what arsenal does all the time and they had some like former west ham great was sitting in the visitors section and they just started chanting about him for 10 minutes and his nickname was ginger pele back in the day and that was like the most fun 10 minutes i had the whole day so like i want that kind of energy.

54:13You're getting your teeth kicked in and you're still out there having fun and talking trash. That's my kind of energy. All right. Well, that's the energy. No, then we're going to summon as we discuss a game that's coming up on NFL Network where we care about people and each other. Aaron Glenn's Jets looking for their first win of the 2025 season. They are getting seven and a half points to try to come back and get the Denver Broncos who just beat one of the NFL's last unbeatens. What if the Broncos beat one of the last unbeatens and turn around and lose to the only winless team in the NFL, Jordan?

54:48Can it happen? The over-under is 43 and a half. Rich Eisen, Kurt Warner, Sarah Walsh on the call.

54:54Gregg Rosenthal:Both of you are frightening me big time. In a big way right now. Stickers bar went flying. Greg's hands, Patrick's hands. I'm in the danger zone. You know, it's all good. Speaking of the danger zone, what is going on with the Jets, guys? What do you think? Just a little fun interactive game here. On the count of three, both of you guys say what you think the biggest problem with the New York Jets is right now. One, two, three. Elijah Berry Tucker's out. You didn't say anything. I know, because I was going to say ownership, and then I thought, hmm, that's tricky. I would say defensive coaching.

55:36Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah. and it shouldn't be that way because this is an Aaron Glenn football team and the lack of discipline and the lack of adjustments and just some of the you're just seeing some of it I mean it's just it's just not what you would actually expect to see from a team that Aaron Glenn is the head coach of and obviously he's not coordinating the defense that's Steve Wilkes I mean doing that I'm I'm not giving him any path on that. No, I'm not either. I'm just saying it's like it's his team. I mean, that's where I'm like, what are we going? I mean, I know he has leaned on Steve Wilkes in getting into this job and what to expect and to look for and kind of some of the advice and having a veteran confidant too is really, really important.

56:24Gregg Rosenthal:It's a really difficult, one of the most difficult jobs to take over, if not the most difficult job to take over in the NFL. Fair. seems to be open often. And it's just like, but, but this is not working. The defense is not working. I just said how we tend to overrate coaches. And maybe I just did it too, by making that like the number one thing, because they have some guys that just shouldn't be on the field. It can be both. It's fine. Tyler Barron, this defensive end. I was like, Jamie and Sherwood had another game where he was just lost last week. Michael Clemens has low lights week after week.

56:57Like they got Mauaga at another linebacker spot was just getting picked on. Granted, it's a tough matchup against Cowboys, but it's going to be a tough matchup against the Broncos and a lot of their opponents. Yeah, I mean, they're not going to have an easy matchup considering the relative talent disparity all over the place for the Jets. And they've been in a couple of these games. And it's one of those situations where even when the scheme looks great and the players, 10 of them execute, there's there's one guy that'll either put the ball on the turf, miss a block. have a blown assignment. It's just like, there's one of these situations where when you're bad, bad things happen.

57:35But they end up getting close in these games or closer at the end, but they, I think Red have not scored a touchdown in the first half of any game since week one. So like an offensive touchdown.

57:48Gregg Rosenthal:So they were a yard away. I know. And the running kills me. The thing that's crazy is the running game is good. So if you're going to make a case for this game, being surprising close in the fourth quarter. It's that they have been pretty effective dictating with the running game. And if there is a way to attack this Broncos defense, you definitely want to do it on the ground versus passing. So maybe they can have these long drives that actually finish in a touchdown occasionally instead of it just tends to be like these eight minute drives that end with three points. And then their defense gives up like a huge play right away.

58:20And it's like, okay, great.

58:21Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah, it's tough because they can't count on their defense. And also they can't come back from self self an early self-inflicted mistake. And that's what has happened with this team. Everything changed when Braylon Allen fumbled the ball. Like the Jets look like one of the most interesting physical running teams and looked that's that opening scripted drive a couple weeks ago, a couple games ago. Like it, it was everything that they wanted to be. and then they make a mistake and the ripple effect, they cannot get out of it. Same thing happened against the Cowboys. Every opening script looks good.

58:58And then they always either fumble it or end up with three.

59:00Gregg Rosenthal:They can't sidestep the wake of the mistakes that they make. And I think that that is a culture thing. That is a mental thing. That is something that a team builds over time by getting through those types of things, by adjusting and understanding you have to overcome certain things that you do to yourself during the game, not even so much the opponent. And that's what I think this issue is. I don't know that the Broncos will be forgiving at all against those types of mistakes. Now, I do think Bo Nix will make his share of mistakes. He's been not as consistent as they need him to be. And he's played better week over week, especially later in games, but he's made some mistakes.

59:41Can we get one normal, steady Bo Nix game? Just one. Let's get there. It hasn't happened.

59:45Gregg Rosenthal:Just be you, Bo. Don't try to be Matthew Stafford. Don't try to be CJ Stroud. Like just play your game. Take, take what's being presented to you. You know, I think the Broncos fans would feel like it was a waste to get the solid Bo Nix game to be this international game against the jet. But you got, you got to start. I know Broncos fans will defend them and it hasn't been that bad. He's good in terms of like, his eyes are good. He makes good decisions. He just misses. Yeah. A lot. Like he is. And I think, yeah, I don't think he's a bad player. I think he, everything's right. And then the ball comes out of his hand and sometimes, and you're just like, Oh no, just off.

1:00:18Gregg Rosenthal:just a little off here and there. I think this indicates kind of what PFF values and doesn't, but like he is still one of the lowest graded quarterbacks. He's below Gino. He's below Flacco. Like, because I think he's just missed so many times and he hasn't made up for it with like great plays, but he has had like the turnover worthy place. So this is it. They're going to get a solid bow game. I do want to note the jets are significantly better on offense this year than they were last year. Yeah. The majority of the jets probably. Yes. are on the defensive side of the ball. And special teams. They might have the worst special teams in the league.

1:00:55They're on their like fourth kick returner. Yikes. We do get Garrett Wilson versus Patrick Sertan. Yeah, I love that. And I also

1:01:03Gregg Rosenthal:think this, you saw it a couple weeks ago, Sean Payton really making an effort to get J.K. Dobbins going. Got him to that hundred mark. He was at 79 yards last game rushing. You could see Sean Payton once another hundred yards rushing performance out of a single running back versus a committee. I think this is a game. You do it. I mean, the jets cannot stop anything. And also a lingering heat from the preseason jets Broncos discussion from a couple of years ago, the parties involved in flooring park are no longer there, but Sean Payton, Sean Payton remembers. He really does. He remembers everything.

1:01:40So he had the Broncos bus drive through broad street just so they could rub it into the Eagles fans after beating them. It's amazing.

1:01:49Gregg Rosenthal:What a move. I kind of love that. I do too. A team that would like to take some fun bus rides. The Vegas Raiders did it a couple of years ago. The Tennessee Titans at Las Vegas where the Raiders are favored by four and a half points. Kenny Albert, Jonathan Vilba, and Megan Olivia on the call as Greg we want Geno to stop throwing the ball to the other team. This would be a good game to do that. The Titans defense has quietly been disappointing, I think, in its own right. Like, the offense is obviously the bigger issue, but other than Jeffrey Simmons, who on another team might be a Defensive Player of the Year candidate and would be an amazing trade candidate, like, I think he could be up for grabs.

1:02:32It's not a good defense. I do think about that block kick at the end of the Bears-Raiders game, though. Like, this early in the season, those, like, one-play games matter so much more. We would feel so differently about the Bears, at least, at one and three if the Raiders just hadn't had that kick block. And if you were the Raiders coming into this game, you probably wouldn't think that you were some great team, but you'd be favored to get to three and three on the season if not for that one block kick. But that would probably be hiding the problems underneath this team, which is a really bad defense and missing their best offensive player this season, which we really haven't mentioned that much on this show.

1:03:10Missing Colton Miller to me was kind of the death knell for this Raiders team. Like when he went out, I think like the hope of it getting a ton better kind of went with him.

1:03:20Gregg Rosenthal:I was like, Brock Bowers, we have talked a lot. You said best offensive player. This year, Colton Miller was playing like lights out this year and Brock Bowers hasn't been healthy. I just think it's a cascading effect that I had just failed to mention and I wanted to there with Colton Miller. One thing that could be helpful to them, it looks like per local reports, Michael Meyer is cleared from the concussion protocol. So that's good news. Um, still kind of up in the air on, on Brock Bowers considered week to week Carol early this week. And it is interesting that the shift from how, uh, eager and, um, believing that they would compete right away.

1:04:02Gregg Rosenthal:Pete Carroll was early in the season and adamant. Remember he's, this is a shorter contract than most coaching contracts when he, when he signed. And part of that was the intent that he, if he was going to come back, he wanted to come back and win a lot of football games right away and went out and got his guy in Gino. And, um, none of this has worked out the way that any of them are expecting. And I was listening to some of Pete Carroll's comments earlier this week. And he was like morose. He was like, I can't, I would never call Pete Carroll morose. Maybe his floor is like mildly disappointed.

1:04:36Gregg Rosenthal:He's such a positive guy, but morose, but Carroll is bad news. Yeah. We kind of fell for it in this off season. Like we were buying what they were selling. And I, I do believe that they have a good core in place. Like I think that these guys will know how to build a team. I think that they made moves that on paper look like they should really work out. You really are in terms of the roster, like who, who among us, none of us were expecting this to happen to Geno Smith. None of us are expecting Brock Bowers to be dealing with some of the stuff and injuries happen every year to every team, but in combination, you know, we're not expecting this offense to look like this.

1:05:12Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah. we're kind of expecting this offensive line to be. We went into the season though, saying this was the least talented defense on league. So that was their choice. And Pete Carroll, when was the last time Pete Carroll to be fair, was a difference maker as a defensive coach or a head coach? Well, I thought Patrick, I thought Patrick Graham would have a really positive influence on, on what Pete. You're making a face. No, I mean, he's got a losing record over the last five years. I'm just saying that's like a hearted peep. He's already having a bad week, Greg. I'm not coming hard at him, but I don't think he's shown to be a difference maker for a minute.

1:05:46It's certainly not on defense. Well, that, that's why you go out and you get a difference maker, the former Ohio state offensive coordinator to come in and really turn things around. But I honestly think I was waiting for it. We've, uh, well, if we're taking shots at people, why not? Um, you know, you mean you're chipping away a little bit by bit, uh, Jackson powers, Johnson, uh, giving up four pressures against the Colts. It's like the Colts front looked incredible. And, you know, they've been solid all year. But Parham, Forsythe, like the Raiders have significant issues up front because we talk a lot about in the run game.

1:06:20And I don't know Gino's leading the league in interceptions. He's playing poorly. They're playing poorly up front.

1:06:25Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah. Yeah, it's a combination of things. And like I said, I think we could have expected some of them. Like I wasn't necessarily thrilled with their offensive line coming in to the year, but I didn't think it was going to look like this. And this could be, well, it's Jeffrey Simmons. He's not getting much help on the edge. The Titans, look, the Titans are going to look at this game and think. Creditable. If we're ever going to win a game on the road, again. For the second week in a row. May I have some ball? This is a pretty good candidate. And Cam Ward's playing awesome. He's so fun to watch.

1:06:56Last week was a very typical Cam Ward game where he had some groaners, some like, what are you thinking?

1:07:03Gregg Rosenthal:I don't even care about those. And he had, I'm just here for the ride. Five or six throws in that game. Most of them in the second half that were just, they just took your breath away. Yeah. I love it. I love the potential here. I can't wait for, I can't wait for five years from now when he has a team around him, you know? I don't remember who I was listening to that asked, could you fire someone after a win? And that's because, just because of how Brian Callahan handled this game, game management, and because of how happy he was when he would just get these lucky touchdowns, he was like celebrating on the field.

1:07:33and fiery whenever. But if I was Brian Kelly, I'd be happy to. Must have felt good. Why wouldn't you? Why wouldn't you celebrate? These are teams that, by the way, and we're going to wrap up here, could be very interesting at the trade deadline. Oh.

1:07:47Gregg Rosenthal:Yeah. Would they ever listen about Max Crosby? I checked. Like, no dead money. They definitely would listen about Jacoby Myers, you would think, who's on the last year of his contract. Here's one that would have been interesting before the Bengals went and got Joe Flacco. Would they think about trading Geno? Who's really on a one-year contract. I thought you were about to say Will Levis. No. Would a team that needs a quarter, like with the Vikings, like if things go really sideways, I'm trying to think of a team that would be like... Give him a decent line, Greg. Hey, I'm just saying like, yeah, hey, you're probably not going to keep Geno next year at this rate.

1:08:25There's like kind of no long-term... I'm just saying. Calvin Ridley would be another one. The problem is a team with a decent line is probably not in position to be trading for a quarterback anyway.

1:08:34Gregg Rosenthal:I mean, if your quarterback gets hurt, don't wish that on anyone. Knock on wood. Okay, that was it. Raiders, Titans. We're going to be battling to see who gets that beauty. The mess off. On Sunday morning. Looking forward to it. Also looking forward to our NFC preview. So keep listening. Hang tight. And we'll be right there with the NFC.
