In short

NFL minicamp offseason “winners and losers” with a fantasy football angle, plus a few quick offseason player landing-spot takes.

Guests

Evan Silva (Establish the Run; former RotoWorld) joins host Greg Rosenthal (NFL Daily). Silva is described as a leading fantasy football industry figure (“GOAT”).

Key claims (winners)

  • Kenneth Walker to Kansas City is a fantasy “locked-in” end of Round 1 RB, projected as RB4, with Walker as the offense’s fulcrum while Patrick Mahomes recovers.
  • Xavier Worthy has WR1 opportunity in KC; question is health and whether he becomes the next “Deshaun Jackson”-type.
  • Mike McDaniel’s offensive autonomy and work with Justin Herbert/Quinton Johnston is a major Chargers win; Herbert is positioned for an MVP-level breakout.
  • Joe Burrow’s confidence/urgency and Bengals’ scoring expectations; AJ Brown benefits from Drake May’s deep-ball/over-the-middle usage.
  • Tyler Shuck (Saints) is set up to succeed: healthy OL, Olave returning, Jordan Tyson added, plus RB/WR talent.
  • Bashal Tootin (Jaguars) could carve out a lead-back role if he stays healthy; Brian Thomas Jr is a practice standout.

Key claims (losers)

  • Devon Achane: Malik Willis’ running increases QB scramble/usage, reducing Achane’s receiving edge.
  • Jeremiah Love (Cardinals): bad offensive fit and likely limited workload in a three-way RB situation with Hackett’s offense.
  • Jacoby Brissett: competition cloud; risk of Carson Beck starting early.
  • Alec Pierce: ankle/ligament issue threatens Week 1 availability.

Notable examples

Walker/Charbonnet split history; “RB2” talk about Amari Di Mercado; Burrow’s 2019 LSU quote and 48 PPG reference; Cardinals QB carousel (Brissett/Minshew/Beck).

4:06Welcome to NFL Daily, where minicamp season is officially over. I'm Greg Rosenthal in Los Angeles talking to my friend, my former co-worker, the GOAT of the fantasy football industry. It is Evan Silva of Establish the Run with all the work on the grass and shorts done for the offseason, Silva. but we're going to do some winners and losers today. Are you ready? I'm ready. I think I'm going to put more of a fantasy angle on mine. Please. Yeah. So I think it'll be good. Silva, of course, came up at Roto World. We worked together there a long time. He's big in the fantasy world. I thought that's why it'd be good to have you because you're paying as close attention to the news, nitty gritty, as anyone, ups and downs.

5:00And you can only learn so much from minicamp season. But before we said goodbye to a completely 11 teams had minicamps this week, the last of them, including the Jets, had their, you know, their final work on Wednesday or Thursday. I think the Chargers went into Thursday, but just about everyone cut it short. And now it's done. I thought we'd have one final look back before we get into some of the, you know, true off season programming. Like we have some wide receiver rankings coming on Sunday. So Silva will help me out here. I'll be a little less fantasy, just overall winners and losers. But why don't you get us going?

5:33Let's do I have way more winners than I don't have a ton of losers here. Yeah, it's the offseason. So why don't we just do winners for a while and we'll wrap up the show with losers. You can start us off. It's easier to come up with winners than it is the losers, because this is the time for optimism. The time during the offseason is the time where you can have hope and optimism. It's easier, like when we're doing our fantasy content, to come up with sleepers than bus. or breakout players than bus. It's just easier to have optimism. And then when we get down to the nitty-gritty and teams start losing and players start playing poorly, then the cream rises and the bottoms fall out on certain players.

6:17But buss are easier to predict, I found, from doing it. Yes. When you look back after the fact, you hit buss more often. It's easier to come up with 10 breakout players and five buss, but you'll hit on four of the bus. And I think the reason is it's just human nature. Ultimately, we're more disappointed with more of the players than we are pleasantly surprised. All right, get us going with the winner. Kenneth Walker, I think, was a huge winner this offseason. Got a really big contract from Kansas City. Going from a two-way timeshare in Seattle with Zach Charbonnet, where that really – Kenneth Walker was a player that a lot of people had really high hopes for in fantasy last year in Seattle.

6:59And Zach Charbonnet essentially making it a 50-50 split took away so much and also getting the ball at the goal line. Zach Charbonnet was the preferred red zone back for Seattle. Now Kenneth Walker goes to Kansas City where I think he's going to be the fulcrum of the offense, at least initially as Patrick Mahomes makes his recovery way back from the ACL and the LCL. And, you know, Rasheed Rice, don't really know what to think about him. Travis Kelsey, he's pushing 40. The weapons just aren't there. Kenneth Walker's going to be the weapon. If you look at the backfield competition that he has in Kansas City, we're talking about Amari DiMarcado.

7:39We're talking about a rookie in Emmitt Johnson. I think that Kenneth Walker, who's a player who really returned about maybe fifth or sixth round value in fantasy last year, is a locked-in end-of-the-first-round pick. I have him as the RB4 overall in fantasy entering the season. Wow. All right. So we're getting into some good fantasy football preview territory. We'll have Evan back if he's willing for the big fantasy spectacular later leading up to the season. I love that because just thinking about the minicamp of it all and the OTA season of it all, the way they've talked about Walker, the investment that they've placed in Walker.

8:16But more than anything, Silva, it's the headline I saw the other day that's like, Amari Di Mercado looks like RB2 if we had to choose one right now. And I'm like, oh my God, that is an old school. We really just have one guy that's going to do everything for us. That's exactly right. And that's what we want out of. So one of the questions on Kenneth Walker coming out of Michigan State was, could he catch the football? Because they did not throw him the ball at Michigan State. And I think that's one of the reasons that he didn't go in the first round of the NFL draft and win the second round. We've seen that he can catch over the last couple seasons in Seattle.

8:51That's going to be a big part of the way he's used, I think, now in Kansas City and a big addition to his game. I think he's going to score a bunch of touchdowns. We know he can hit big plays. And this is a player who just won Super Bowl MVP. I'm really excited about him and KC. So I have another chief. We're going to try to go establish the run style. You guys always hit a million topics in a really short amount of time because Levitin's all about efficiency. Oh, we only have, you know, so we don't have any time to waste. You can't honk and have too much fun. We need to hit 75 players in 40 minutes.

9:23So we'll try to do that. Xavier Worthy was mentioned by The Athletic. You know, if you had to choose an offseason MVP, he might be it. I hesitate to put too much into the Xavier Worthy basket. But as you mentioned, another rocky offseason for Rasheed Rice, who to me is a better player. but he's entering a year where like he'll have to prove that he's worthy of a long-term contract and it's just one of one of those things I noted like okay I know Worthy is the type of player that looks good in these non-padded practices but just something I'm gonna watch because he moves different than other players and if Andy Reid has a vision for him and he's been all by himself there as kind of the wide receiver one in the offseason we'll see what they get going for Xavier worthy yeah you're worthy love you're not you know andy reed has had this obsession with trying to find his next deshaun jackson and you know he tried it he's trying it with xavier worth and he tried it with mccall hardman and he sort of tried it with the anthony thomas and you know there have been you know he has like a sort of like a taequan thornton he has like a type of receiver and just feel like he has just not been able to find that next deshaun jackson and And there was some hope, I feel like, as a rookie for Xavier Worthy to maybe be like that and just has not come to fruition.

10:39But no question, the opportunity looks really good on paper right now for Xavier Worthy. I've already done about 15 or 20 fantasy drafts, mostly best ball. But I've been drafting a little bit of Xavier Worthy. OK. Yeah. I thought his college tape was interesting. Deshaun Jackson's an interesting company where a lot of it was funneled through him. I do think there's more that he can unlock at the pro level. But just someone I noted. We need him to stay healthy. Yeah, he has to stay healthy. I just like it when I hear from the people on the ground that they think he's had a good year going into year three.

11:12All right, give me another one. I'm going to go. Can I pivot to a loser? You can do whatever you want, Selva. All right, I like it. I hate to say this because Devon Achan is one of my favorite players in the NFL. But going from Tua, who was a dump down and a check down machine, to Malik Willis, who in passing situations is much more likely than Tua was to run and to take off and try to make a play himself, that's going to take away from one of Devon Achan's greatest strengths. And that's catching the football out of the backfield and making plays with the ball in his hands. Also, I'll tell you what, we had an established-to-run retreat recently, and I drove there and I drove back.

11:55And on the way back, I drove with Brandon Thorne. I made sure that Brandon Thorne was sitting next to me for the hour and a half drive home so I could pick his brain. Brandon Thorne, the preeminent NFL media analyst regarding offensive linemen, literally like hangs out with offensive linemen and offensive line coaches. And one of the biggest themes that he hit on to me as we were talking was the impact of Mike McDaniel. He really believes in Mike McDaniel as a difference maker when it comes to pretty much everything regarding offense. I know that we kind of know that, but to hear that from a guy who's an offensive line analyst in particular, and the difference is that Mike McDaniel can make on an offense from that standpoint, I think that losing him is going to be really, really big.

12:43A big negative, a net negative for the Dolphins and a huge positive for the Chargers. And I don't know what to think of Bobby Sloick. I really wanted to like Bobby Sloick, his first year with the Texans and then things kind of went downhill after that. And he's the new OC in Miami. And I just don't know if he can bring to the table anything close to what Mike McDaniel could bring to the table. And when we get to winners, I will talk about a Charger. Yeah, well, I will pivot to the Chargers. But to close the HN point, it's also coming off a shoulder surgery. We didn't know that it was necessarily a surgery.

13:19And so he's expected to be back for training camp, but everyone is expected to be back for training camp. I do think the addition of Malik Willis could unlock each other. They could be helping each other, but it's a great point that, look, Aaron Brewer was incredible at center. Patrick Paul really developed at left tackle. You have a highly drafted rookie on the offensive line. Will these guys be as good going to this system with Sloak as they were with McDaniel? That's one thing that I talked to about Thorne, too, was you mentioned Aaron Brewer. I asked him who if he does not have a vote for, was it Protector of the Year, which was won by Joe Tooney.

14:00He thought that Aaron Brewer should have won Protector of the Year last year. I thought that that was really interesting. And that's also a situation where he talked about the effect of Mike McDaniel being able to turn a guy like Aaron Brewer from, you know, a super undersized. I don't think Aaron Brewer was drafted a super undersized center into one of the best centers in football, just being able to utilize him properly. Yeah, he's dynamic and he's one of the guys they are building around. McDaniel is one of my offseason winners just because he's in this position right now as the coordinator that he's giving given full autonomy on a Jim Harbaugh team, which seems crazy.

14:41he's allowed to come up with this plan where Justin Herbert's not even throwing on certain days during the offseason, and he's working exclusively on footwork. He's got like, you know, they're trying to get it so he gets rid of the ball a little quicker with his right foot forward at the snap, so it's quick. It's all this stuff, but there was a quote this week that made me write him down for this exercise. Silva, which, you know, Harbaugh was asked about McDaniel, and he said, well, that's our leader. We just listened to what he says. That's your leader. Jim Harbaugh is saying that's our leader.

15:12So that's not always the kind of guy to defer. Right. But, you know, Jim Harbaugh is an alpha. Right. And the fact that he's saying that and if you're McDaniel, some of the videos with him and Quinton Johnston, I love. And then you also get the best tackle duo, at least young tackle duo in the league back healthy. And all the signs have been really good for that. It just feels like it's been an offseason of McDaniel. The combination of McDaniel, Harbaugh, and then the Chargers social team. Very dynamic together. You're right. The wires. It's got to be big. All right, give me another one. Yeah, I mean, I'm just going to go to Justin Herbert for basically all the reasons that we just outlined.

15:52That was another thing that Thorne really harped on was the return of Rashawn Slater and Joe Ault. And, like, we have statistics that establish around the on and off stats for when Slater and or really Ault because Slater didn't play very much at all. So the sample size wasn't too big. But the on-off stats for Joe Alt were massive last season. And that's another point in the direction of Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert is like, in terms of, if you look at sportsbook odds, am I allowed to mention those? You can do whatever you want, Silva. Okay, I like it. I can't personally do any betting myself.

16:28No, I'm not even going to make a betting recommendation. I actually don't even think it's that great of a bet. But if you just look at the sports betting odds right now for Justin Herbert, he's like top five or top six. He was 10-1 last time I looked. He's like one of the favorites for MVP. Sportsbooks tend to know what they're doing. So I put a little bit of stock in that. But certainly the return of the offensive tackles, the addition of Mike McDaniel, I think that this is the year that Justin Herbert really breaks through. We've seen the potential of Justin Herbert. I think that this is his year.

17:01We have a quarterback's draft coming up before the 4th of July holiday. It's me and John Ledyard. And yeah, I was really struggling with where to put Herbert based on how last year ended. But, you know, comparing him to some of the like the established guys like like a Stafford, like can he pass those guys? Yeah, he hasn't earned it, but it does feel like he is set up to have a great season. Another quarterback in that ballpark who I think is going to be great this season is Joe Burrow. I'm going to give just like his confidence as a winner, like just the Joe Burrow aura right now, because he was so sad at the end of last year.

17:44And now, you know, he's making pretty bold quotes at the podium. Let's actually listen to Joe Burrow this week at the conclusion of the Bengals minicamp. I think that's great. Put pressure on guys. I love it. I thrive in it. We'll find out who else does. I know that we have the kind of people that want to be in that spot. I want everybody talking about the Bengals. I want everybody talking about what I'm saying in my press conferences. Because you go back and watch what I said before, 2019 season at LSU, I feel very similarly about this team. I'm so excited to get started and get moving. I wish we would ramp this right into training camp so we can continue to improve.

18:40Because I feel like there's so much greatness that we're going to be able to achieve this year. I'm just excited to get going. I'm a sucker for this stuff. Him talking about 2019 LSU, that he feels the same as before that season, go back and check the tape. And the writer for The Athletic, Paul Dater, did go check what his quotes were. And he said before that season, he thinks they're going to score 40, 50 points a game. And people thought he was insane there. And they literally averaged 48 points per game. It seems very purposeful, like how Joe Burrow is kind of standing up there. He's sitting up and saying that he thinks this is going to be the best Bengals team.

19:17I'm buying it a little bit. Yeah, it's good to see him with that kind of body language because we've seen him with bad body language before too. So I like seeing him up. He just needs to stay healthy. He's Adam Levitan's pick this year for MVP. I mean, and I think that he's as good. He just got to stay healthy. If he can stay healthy and T can stay healthy and Jamar Chase can stay healthy, they're going to score a ton of points. I mean, there's no question about that. And it's interesting that he said he has made a point to be more urgent talking to players, to push players. He even used the word, I've even been kind of mean, which like if he actually was mean, he wouldn't use the word I've been mean.

20:00Doesn't seem like a mean guy. But if you watch the quarterback show on Netflix, I think that's something he struggled with. He's maybe a quiet leader. He's not going to say much. you always want a guy to be natural, but he has been saying that he knows how important he is to everyone around him, and he's tried to be a little bit more of a vocal, kick-ass type of guy this season. They're putting a lot of pressure on themselves. It's definitely even ownership. Silva essentially said it was a win or else season for their GM-coach combination. They wanted to give it one more chance, so it's like all or nothing this year for the Bengals, but I kind of like burrow changing how he is acting i do too um i i'll keep going because i got a million winners i'm gonna do aj brown uh just obviously this is what happened during the mini camp you know period and and ota period was the aj brown trade i think it's been a lot of focus on what aj brown can do for drake may but i think it might be more important what drake may can do for A.J.

21:04Brown. I mean, he hasn't had a quarterback like this ever, maybe, and certainly didn't have it in Philadelphia. And at this point of his career, where I think it's going to be great for his motivation, but also for his versatility, I think they're going to be able to use A.J. Brown over the middle of the field, obviously deep down the field, one of the best deep ball throwers. And I think Drake May could be rejuvenating A.J. Brown even more than A.J. Brown You're right about the play of the quarterback. Do you know who A.J. Brown's quarterback in college was? Jordan Te 'amu. No, it definitely did not.

21:43Jordan Te 'amu, and he had A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf and Dawson Knox. He cost them money. He made a lot of NFL teams, including Bill Belichick drafting Nikhil Harry over both those guys. Looked pretty dumb, but that was on Bill Belichick. And then who did he have early in the Tennessee case? He had Tannehill there, so that's okay. Yeah, shoot, Tannehill might be his best. I don't know. All right, I'm going to go with a loser, a surprise loser, Jeremiah Love. Now, he's a winner independently from the standpoint that he's one of the highest drafted running backs in recent modern NFL history, and he has the most guaranteed money of any running back in the NFL.

22:28now because of that. So he himself was a winner of the offseason, but going to a horribly, I think, one of the worst-run organizations in the NFL where initially he's going to have to split time, I think. I mean, they gave money to Tyler Algier,

22:48and even they brought back James Conner, who I think is – I mean, I don't think you bring back James Conner unless he's going to play at least something of a role. so he goes to a three-way timeshare on a bad team and his offensive coordinator is nathaniel mfn hackett okay and also mike lafleur what is going on with the hair with mike lafleur i mean i don't think that's a head coach haircut i mean he's a younger guy yeah he can pull it off maybe i'm just jealous i don't have that i don't have that beautiful head of hair myself but he can pull it off anyways but nathaniel hackett let's focus on nathaniel hackett he has never had success in the NFL.

23:25So it's going to be a really long year for the Cardinals, for Jeremiah Love. Are the Cardinals even in any way incentivized? He's going to be playing the same back with Carson Beck for the majority. Are the Cardinals even incentivized at all to win this year at all, really? I mean, I don't think that they are. So I don't think that they end up giving the ball to Jeremiah Love as much as people would expect, especially when you have Algier and James Conner. I don't even know if they're going to – I think they're going to struggle to get first down. It's just a really bad situation, at least initially for Jeremiah Love.

23:58Yeah, James Conner took a pay cut to stay. In theory, they could still cut him. They guaranteed him, I think, a couple million dollars is not much, but he took a pay cut. You figure they're going to keep him. They'll maybe try to trade Trey Benson at some point. You're right. The workload just isn't going to be what you want for Jeremiah Love. Hopefully, he just hits the big plays and And he does it as a receiver, Reggie Bush style, like a bigger Reggie Bush. I had Jacoby Brissett as one of my losers. So since we're talking Cardinals, just the fact that they're already sprinkling out there among the media and even some of the coaches of like Carson Beck could be in the mix this season.

24:36You can just see where this is going, that at some point, Carson Beck is going to be starting games. Meanwhile, Jacoby Brissett is sitting out of camp. They're saying it's an open competition now. Gardner Minshew is in the mix. It was just bad timing for Jacoby Brissett that, you know, he played pretty well late last season, but a new staff comes in. I don't think he's as good a fit necessarily for the Michael Fleur offense. They'd love a quarterback with like a little bit of movement here and a little more quick trigger. And he is not necessarily that. I don't know if Gardner Minshew is a great fit either, but either way, the combination of it all uh makes preset a loser and then makes us losers too because i don't want to be watching carson beck get killed by the 49ers and the rams in like week seven and then think man we got 10 games left of this but i could totally see that happening yeah i think that's probably what's going to happen i'm going to go with a winner okay so you don't always see a team commit to a second round quarterback as they're like locked in guy even for the next season they're usually trying to add of bringing a veteran, you know, even the year after they draft the quarterback in the second round, or maybe they draft the quarterback in the first round the following year after draft.

25:47Tyler Shuck, though, showed enough to them as a rookie, was it like nine or 10 starts last year that they didn't bring in anybody. I mean, they brought in Zach Wilson, but he does not count. He'll be their third stringer. Spencer Rattler is returning as the backup. You're getting back a healthy Chris Olave. I know he had the blood clot thing, but Nick Underhill reported he's going to be good to go. They're not worried about him. They bring in the number eight pick in the draft, Jordan Tyson. They've got their entire offensive line coming back healthy. He had some injury issues last year. And they added David Edwards from the Bills.

26:23So, I mean, you're talking about a lot of talent on their front five right now. They've got one, two, three former first-round picks, a former second-round pick in Eric McCoy, and then David Edwards, the big-ticket addition at left guard. This could be a really fun offense this year. Also, they signed Travis Etienne, and they're getting back Alvin Kamara as a backup, I think. So, I mean, there's just a lot of talent around Tyler Shuck. He is set up to succeed. I'm a big believer in Kellen Moore as well, playing indoors. I think this could be a really fun, productive season for Tyler Shuck. He can play.

27:03It doesn't take me long to realize when I'm wrong. on an evaluation. I was really doubting Tyler Shuck and within four or five games, you could see like, he's going to have a long career at worst. And I think he could be a plus starter. I think for this season only, I would take them over cam Ward and Jackson dart as the, the class of 2025 guys. I, I think he just does pro stuff. He gets through his reads really quickly. The arm is more than good enough. If there's a, if there's an it quarterback having a little bit of it, I mean, he showed it, I think, in some late-game situations, some comeback situations.

27:42The only nit I would pick with you, Silva, is you were really stretching it out to call the Cesar Ruiz a former first-round pick. True, he is a former first-round pick. I'm not considering him a plus on that offensive line. But the rest of the offensive line is looking pretty good, right? No, actually, Brandon Thorne, we talked about that, too, because I was hyping up the Saints offensive line to him, and he expressed the same concerns about Cesar Ruiz. He's probably the low point on the offensive line. But, I don't know, Thorne thinks that they could be like a top 10, top 12 unit. So I will go with that.

28:14Also, Tyler Shuck can run. Tyler Shuck in college, that was not a part of his college profile. But then if you looked at his combine numbers, he was like really athletic. And they let him run last year. I mean, he could run for like 30, 35 yards a game. That's really big in fantasy. And also it's just it can be really debilitating, deflating to a defense. You know, it's third down. You got him in, you know, third and seven. You think you're going to, you know, force the turnover on downs and or, you know, get the takeaway or just get the ball back, force the punt. Tyler Shuck can run for those seven yards that can be really deflating to the defense.

28:48I agree. He reminds me a little as an athlete of Daniel Jones, where he's not going to run around you or anything, but just the straight line speed. He actually probably is a little more flexible than Daniel Jones, but he made important plays with his leg. You're absolutely right. Actually, I'll go to Daniel Jones. He's one of my winners. I just thought coming off the Achilles, we'll have to see how it actually looks because we heard Kirk Cousins is doing well and Aaron Rodgers was doing well when they were coming off and then they just did not have it. He's obviously much younger, but he's ahead of pace of where I thought he'd be.

29:27We're at the point now where it'd be very surprising if he doesn't start week one, which I would not have expected coming into the offseason. So it just feels like a reason why they gave him that contract was they felt good about the rehab and for the Colts and the people around that you're counting on for fantasy. I think it's a good sign that Daniel Jones expected at this point to start week one and might be a pretty full go to even start training camp. That would be nice. We have high hopes for Josh Downs to take a step this season. We see Michael Pittman got moved and Alec Pierce coming off maybe more extensive ankle surgery than was expected.

30:09And so maybe we're hoping that Josh Downs can move in, maybe even lead the Colts in receiving. Let's go. This year. That is one of my all-time, not all-time, but one of my favorite sleeper picks certainly this year is Josh Downs in fantasy. You always like the little guys, Rosenthal. I remember you were first on Eddie Royal back in the day. He's dynamic. I don't think people realize, I used to say this about Alec Pierce, that no matter how good you think he is, he's better. I think the same is true for Josh Downs. He just needs to stay healthy. In fact, I would expect him to lead that team in reception, certainly.

30:43I don't know if it'll be in yards, but I would throw Pierce up there as a loser. They kind of go hand-in-hand, Downs as a winner and Alec Pierce as a minicamp and off-season loser, because we just never expected this surgery to come up, and it sounds like it's ligaments. He tried to avoid it. He's not going to be ready during the preseason. I think week one is very much in question for Alec Pierce, a guy that really relies on his speed. So that's, you know, while we're talking Colts, to me, a minicamp loser. What do you think about Tyler Warren this season for fantasy? Yeah, I like him a lot. He's a stud.

31:17You know, the history of dudes that have won Mackey Awards is really, really good. I know it's just a college award, but he was a Mackey Award winner, and those guys have awesome track records. So, yeah, I love Tyler Warren. Absolute baller. Tight end, what is he? Three? Four? I think he's tight end five for me. I have Kyle Pitts ahead of him, another Mackey Award winner. And that is very controversial. Levitan hates it. I hate it too. Okay, Kyle Pitts had 88 catches last year and 118 targets. Yeah. Yeah. Well, it's a different offense. He's just been inconsistent. I know he is. The argument for you is— I think he took a step last year.

32:01Yeah, I think that's fair. And I think the argument for him is that they're going to be a high volume in terms of pass attempts offense, I think, with Stefanski and just a lot of short passes. A lot of two-voted pits, hopefully. Yeah, PPR league, like seven-yard catches by Kyle Pitts. I'm going to give you another winner. Me. My top 101 list. I won. We're down to only 11 players left on my top 101 list. So I consider that a win. The NFL is just picking these guys off the board. Cam Jordan is the latest one to go. And a handful of the guys that are still on the list that didn't get signed, like Taylor Decker, Jimmy G, are at the very end.

32:42I think they're retiring, so I don't even count that. But here are some of the players. It was more of an excuse to mention to the audience who is unsigned. And give me any thoughts if you have on any of these players that stand out to you. Joey Bosa is out there. I think he could retire potentially. Stefan Diggs and Debo are the two from a wide receiver perspective that are most compelling on defense. You have Hassan Reddick, Trevon Diggs, Jadeveon Clowney figures to land on a team eventually. Darren Waller looked pretty good last year when he played, but he's still out there unsigned. Diggs is probably the one I'm looking at out of all those guys where he could actually impact like a fantasy outlook.

33:20Even if you're not drafting Stefan Diggs early or maybe even at all, like he'll impact a room and in the right spot, he could be like a good NFL third receiver. Yeah, I totally agree. I think that maybe partly what has contributed to Stefan Diggs not so far signing is the weird off-the-field stuff that's been going on. I try to not pay attention at all. I have to pay attention to it a little bit. But I don't know, the stuff on TMZ and all that. They're human. You should be paying attention. The NFL teams are paying attention. But to that point, as far as the NFL— I just know that there's—all I need to know as a fantasy analyst is that there's off-field stuff going on, and eventually he will get signed.

34:00That's all I need to know. Well, the NFL essentially cleared him that the charges were dropped and the NFL confirmed that he's not going to be suspended under the personal conduct policy. So he is cleared to sign somewhere. I'm not sure what team that could be. It might be a team that has an injury in the preseason. If the Texans lost someone, he has familiarity there. That's where you look to first. I don't think Buffalo would want him back again. For adults with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis symptoms, every choice matters. 39:27Dobbs. Then they settled for Chris Rodriguez, who knows Liam Cohen from Kentucky. But Chris Rodriguez is very limited, first of all. He's really not a factor at all in the passing. I think he can run the rock. I mean, he averaged four and a half yards per carry last year in Washington. But that's all he is. He's an early down grinder. And he pops up with this injury. He misses everything in the offseason. So he's not even having the capability to show the coaching staff that he could maybe be a factor, you know, as a pass blocker and or pass receiver. So it's been Bashal Tootin eating that up.

40:02LeQuint Allen returns, but he's sort of like a Samajay Pirine sort of player where he might play a decent amount of snaps, but the team is really not going to try to get him the ball. Bashal Tootin is really explosive. Coming out of Virginia Tech, he ran 4-3-2. He's got a lot of dynamic ability. He just needs to stay healthy, earn the trust of the coaching staff. Having all these reps in the offseason, I think, can help contribute toward him carving out a potentially clear-cut lead-back role in an above-average offense. Yeah, we are part of the tootin' hive here at NFL Daily. I think his tape last year was better than the numbers showed.

40:42He was always in a lot of short yardage situations, which kind of depressed his average. But just the burst, the juice that he has is obvious. And yeah, I think that's a good call. And yet he was not the official offseason MVP, according to John Shipley, who covers the Jaguars. That was my guy, Brian Thomas, who gets an offseason winner for me. I've talked about him a lot this offseason. I don't want to keep repeating myself, but it does feel like that. Well, he broke our collective hearts last year. Yes. I think the light bulb has gone back on here. He gets the offense that he's in. And Liam Cohen, who is not that generous with praise, like he speaks the truth, has just been saying all offseason how Thomas is dominating.

41:27And supposedly at practice, he's just been lighting it up and he has loved everything he saw. And so when you get one wrong, Silva, you know this as a fantasy analyst. you can either back off if what you see really worries you or as you watch on youtube a nice clip of of thomas weaving through a defense at practice or you can do a little dollar cost averaging stick with him if you thought he was a top 10 guy last year now he's going in like wide receiver 25 or something give me some of that and just go back to the well that's what i'm doing man i don't know what to do i don't know what he's like one of the hardest dudes to rank no because you do have aggressive be aggressive i mean maybe they do have parker washington they do have jacoby myers they do have two tight ends now after they drafted the kid out of texas in the second round to go with brenton strange you know um i just ah you know what they have to worry about that they have brian thomas jr the most talented player of all those guys you are not worried about right about that and he's going and he's going later uh in drafts like way later him and josh downs are probably my two favorite receivers i would say in fantasy to go get and that was the off-season ride-along presented by toyota because when people are the destination your ride is important learn more at toyota.com and find the vehicle that fits your people do Do you have anyone else that you really want to go for?

42:58I have a few for a speed round here, but if you have any that are burning a hole in your pocket that you want to get out there. I really like the landing spot. I'll burn out a couple guys that I like. Just real quick, Chigakonkwo, who quietly has 50-plus catches in three straight seasons, lands in Washington. There is a crevasse, a grand canyon of opportunity behind Terry McLaurin in Washington, and Jaden Daniels has shown that he can be an elevator of talent around him. Ryan Flournoy, you know, I think that he might be good. You know, he had two games over 100-plus yards last year. He returns.

43:40George Pickens, you know, he's kind of a wild card. You know, CeeDee Lamb has struggled with injuries in the past. Ryan Flournoy returning as the Cowboys' clear-cut number three receiver. I think he's a player that could take off in a pass-heavy offense. And then Emeka Egbuka. No more Mike Evans. I don't know what Chris Godwin has left in the tank. They brought back Cade Otten, but he's kind of a jag. And I think that the seas have parted maybe for Emeka Egbuka, who was awesome in the first six or seven games of last season. Then he got a hamstring injury and Baker wasn't playing well. This is the year that Emeka Egbuka, sort of like his former college teammate JSN, leapt to 100 catches in his second season.

44:23And Emeka Agbuka, who profiled very similarly to JSN coming out of Ohio State, could take that leap into the 100-catch territory this year. I just, you hurt my feelings. I had to make a face calling Kate Otten a jag. I mean, that man has a family. And that man, most importantly, landed in the top 20 of my free agents list. Maybe for fantasy, he's more of a jag. But I think he's a good player, Kate Otten. He's all right. You can block. You can do everything. You're saying, you know, everything's on the menu with Kate Otten. You can run any type of offense you want. Why do you got to take a shot at Kate Otten?

44:57Yeah. A jack of many trades, a master of none, a.k.a. a jag. No. No? A good blocker. Good player. Everyone's looking for Kate Otten. They're, like, reaching for prospects in the second round, hoping in a best-case scenario that they get Kate Otten. All right. But it's a fair point on the fantasy of it all. He's not going to get you excited. I like all those shout-outs. I'll throw out A.D. Mitchell as a guy that Zach Rosenblatt of The Athletic mentioned has had a really nice offseason. I don't know if he's going to be like a fantasy guy, but I have believed in his talent at the NFL level. I think he's done more than people realize.

45:37And Geno Smith was really talking him up as being a special type of talent. And kind of in that same bucket, there was a quote from Dan Campbell. I'm curious what you think of Isaac Tesla. Just saying that Tesla to him feels like a veteran. He knows everything. And you think about it, like, Tesla is starting for that team. That is a loaded group. It is a really nice spot to be a starting player when there's so much attention going to Amon Ra and Jameer Gibbs and Sam Laporta. Tesla is like the last guy you have to worry about. And now, you know, with Khalif Raymond not there, it seems like it's a small thing, but Tesla is going to be out there.

46:14And I think they really like Isaac Tesla. Our projections team has Isaac Tesla with the highest touchdown rate per target in the NFL this year. Now, we don't have him for many targets. But the question for me with Isaac Tesla is, you know, he had this like defined role last year. He's like a red zone specialist. coming out of college he was an absolute freak of an athlete I mean just a total total freak can he expand what he does and become more than that and you know earn like a 55 to 60 percent snap share in his second season because then I think that we could be talking about him as maybe like the next Alex Alex Pierce or something along those lines um but I don't know if he can get to that point.

47:08We'll see. I know. I didn't even mention Jamison Williams in there as a player that defense has to worry about. But yeah, it was more of like the vibe from Campbell and that I think he was swimming a little bit coming from a very different offense in college. And he said through most of his rookie year, but Campbell saying like it started to click for him late where I think he really understood what was going on around him. And now they feel more confident. My final winner was CJ Stroud. I'm just buying the haircut and that the body looks slimmed down and the way he's talking, the way everyone's talking.

47:43I'm very self-selective. As long as it confirms my priors, I'm into offseason talk. And I do think CJ Stroud is going to show up and go earn himself a nice big contract. Have you stayed on the CJ Stroud bandwagon? I have not. And that's not necessarily because of him as a player, although he hasn't really helped himself in a couple years. That's because the defense is just, I mean, the team is built around its defense. Where is he going to go in fantasy drafts? Is he even going to get drafted? I mean, he's like a low-end quarterback two slash quarterback three, like quarterback 23 to 25, somewhere in that range.

48:22Give me a top five quarterback or whatever it's going to be and give me C.J. Stroud in round 13, and I'm loving what C.J. Stroud's going to give me as a consistent. This is why you had to retire from the industry. You had to retire early. He could have a Dak Prescott-like career. He's just got to get the right offense. Speaking of quarterbacks, how about Sam Darnold? I know. Oh, yeah. Years ago, you came on this show, and you just talked up Sam Darnold as your one big sleeper. What year was that? Was that the Panthers season? Man, that was like. And you've never let me forget it. We've been battling over Sam Darnold.

49:04It almost got personal at times. I liked that. Well, it did for you. It never got personal for me. I love that Jeremiah continued that. Because Jeremiah would jab at you about that too, wouldn't he? Yeah. Well, Sam Darnold won the Super Bowl. Did that feel like. Redemption. Do you even have a team, Silva? Do you have an NFL team? No. Did that feel like your team winning the Super Bowl? just finally been proven right you won no because i Arnold because i was on the patriots to win unfortunately yeah that was dumb i know i know that at least i have an excuse you know where i grew up and everything uh wrapping up with uh some losers i have some losers i don't know if you have any more uh terry and arnold of the lions uh this isn't really fantasy related but i noticed that they said he's been practicing with the reserves that's interesting former first round to pick behind DJ Reed, Rock Yassin, and Khalil Dorsey.

49:56And Dan Campbell's been talking about wanting competition. He said some off-field stuff, so they might be punishing him a little bit for that. So that caught my eye. And then I wanted to read this quote to you from Zach Jackson of The Athletic, but this was on his podcast, Zach Jackson and Friends. I almost wanted to ask him permission to just play it because it was just delivered so well, but I'll try to do him justice. This is him. This is quoted from someone who watched all the OTAs about Deshaun Watson. Watson definitely had more highlight throws from these six or seven practices we saw. Almost every one of those was followed up by a bad miss.

50:36He's not accurate. He doesn't take care of the ball. He doesn't process. He's not a good player. I was just.

50:47and he said it with such disdain yeah in his voice just like they wanted deshaun watson to win this job going into the spring they made it very clear through this mary k cabot report through todd what todd monken said and based on apparently how he's played todd monken just couldn't give him the job because fitter was getting a little bit better but more importantly Deshaun Watson just didn't look like a good football player like he hasn't for the last three or four years. I'm kind of hoping that they give Shadour a chance this year. And then, you know, if it doesn't go right with him, Talon Green.

51:28How about some Talon Green action maybe down the stretch of the season? Let me add one more guy, all right? Like Marshawn Lloyd, who has been injured just constantly for the last two seasons since entering the NFL. But, man, we know he's got a lot of ability. He ran 4-4 at 220 pounds coming out of USC. He could catch passes. And he's been healthy this offseason. And Josh Jacobs has been dealing with his own off-field stuff. And if you look at the quotes from Ben Sermons, the Packers RB's coach, Matt LaFleur, and Jordan Love, They all just glowing praise of Marshawn Lloyd, who has earned the nickname the Yeet Cannon.

52:11Yeah, which I thought was really, really interesting. And I'm hoping that that will stick. And I've been drafting Marshawn Lloyd late in my best ball drafts because he's got some upside. And who knows what's going to happen with Josh Jacobs. The Yeet Cannon. I love that. I have been watching that situation wondering what they're going to do. because Marshawn Lloyd is a nice lottery ticket or even better of someone who could have a really high ceiling, but he just hasn't been able to stay on the field. And without really knowing in depth how the NFL is going to handle this, I think there's a strong chance that Josh Jacobs is not on the field for the Packers to start the year, considering the severity of the domestic violence charges against him.

52:56And so that's a team that's trying to win. Will they add to that position? Would it be Lloyd? Something to watch. I also think in terms of losers while we're at the Packers, like there's no Micah in the early portion of this season. When we started the offseason, everyone's ahead of schedule except for the ones that aren't. And the two guys that really stand out that I think are listeners, if they haven't been paying attention on a day-to-day basis here, that I'm worried about in terms of their recoveries, Micah Parsons, which is not a surprise that he would miss the start of the season. but it really sounds like that's where it's trending that I'll be on the PUP list.

53:30It might be a big chunk of the season coming off his injury. And then Malik neighbors, which I think it's a little more disappointing because he had a follow-up surgery. And I just don't know when he's going to be back, but the way John Harbaugh has talked about Malik neighbors is injury. It's going to be very difficult. I think to count on him to be a true wide receiver one for the giants, but even, you know, beyond the field and be productive necessarily. I don't know if that's going to happen in the first month, two months of the season. I'm not really sure what we're getting. So just a couple of final losers, unfortunately, is kind of that Packers defense who doesn't really have any edges other than Micah Parsons.

54:06And then, yeah, the Giants receiver group and Jackson Dart, too, because he really could use Malik neighbors out there. Where are you pricing neighbors these days? Oh, man, like I keep moving them down. You know what scared me about him, too, is like the day after the news kind of came out that Malik Nabors was not doing very good in his recovery. The Giants went out and literally signed three receivers on the same day. Juju Smith-Schuster, Braxton Berrios, and Odell Beckham. And I'm like, gosh, they are telling us. We are expecting Malik Nabors to at very least begin the season on the reserve PUP, at very least.

54:45Yeah, I think that's fair. And he's such a unique, dynamic athlete that really wins with his flexibility and athleticism even more than he ever did with his route running. And so you do wonder a little bit how if he's not 100%, how he will win right off the bat. And so that's a big time concern for him, for the Giants. I thought about putting Bo next year, but I think he's going to be fine. I'm a little worried that he's always got these follow-up surgeries, but I think he's going to be fine ultimately. So he's not on my list. No more losers. It's optimism season. We should just be talking all winners.

55:23Establish the Run is such a big winner that you guys have a freaking company retreat. How happy are you that you went off on your own? You guys don't have one of those with the Shield? I mean, no, we don't have a retreat. I'm happy to be here doing NFL Daily with the NFL and with iHeartMedia. But you went and you got entrepreneurial. You left World to World back in the day. And now you're killing it. You got enough dough to have a company retreat and you got all these employees. Congratulations, Evan. So good job at you. Thank you, Greg Rosenthal. I could not have done any of it without you, brother.

55:58Yeah, it was fun to catch up and talk fantasy. We'll be talking more fantasy as we get closer to the season. Let's take a three-day break here on this feed. Thank you to Evan Silva for joining me. Thanks to everyone, obviously, who checked out all of our content this week. The flag football extravaganza. I want to point everyone back to that. Me and Jordan Rodrigue back on Monday. That was fun. Patrick on Tuesday. We will be dropping in the feed a new time, a Sunday evening show. We're ranking the top 32 receivers in the NFL. That's next on NFL Daily. See you then.
