In short
Quarterback Island Season 2, Episode 3 debates which QBs define the NFL so far this season, shrinking the “island” from 12 to 10 and using “riptide” rules to remove players without a vote. They argue whether the league is quarterback-driven and evaluate candidates via recent performance and analytics (EPA/QBR/PFF, success rate, pressure performance, sacks, turnovers).
Guests / hosts
Steve Weiss (NFL Network captain/voice), Jordan Roderigue (co-executive producer, originator), Colleen Wolfe (on-air), and Greg (the fourth recurring panelist).
Key claims
- Drake May is leading the NFL in passing yards with a 72% completion rate and pushes the ball, not just dump-offs.
- Patrick Mahomes is still elite but has accuracy issues, offensive-line inconsistency, and fewer late-game comebacks/game-winning drives.
- Lamar Jackson is managing an injury and has struggled vs Cleveland.
- Baker Mayfield is voted off for inconsistency (under 50% success rate on passing plays; ~43%).
- Jalen Hurts is kicked off due to post-bye-week offensive inconsistency (e.g., Green Bay, Detroit).
- Justin Herbert is kept despite a brutal last week tied to offensive-line and defense breakdowns.
- Sam Darnold is kept; Jared Goff is discussed as vulnerable; Caleb Williams and Bo Nix are discussed but not added.
Notable examples
- Mahomes: “lit up by Denver,” plus a key bad pick; Bills game lacked TDs.
- Hurts: Week 7–8 peak (7 TD, 0 INT), then Green Bay (1 TD), Detroit (50% completions, 0 TD).
- Mayfield: Patriots game looked better; Bills game was another tough outing.
- Darnold: singled out for success vs the Rams pass rush.

3:24That's the problem. I ain't right back. Let's go. This is Quarterback Island. Yes!
3:30Steve Wyche:Quarterback Island Season 2, Episode 3. Yeah! Thank you to Randy Chavez, our former producer for that outstanding Open. One of my favorite days of the year is when we can get these four people. Let's do it. together, especially at this point of the season when things get a little tough.
3:54Jourdan Rodrigue:A little murky. Yes, the people have been asking for it. Where's Quarterback Island? When's Quarterback Island? It's today, guys. This is interesting because after what we've seen, is it truly now a quarterback-driven league, or is it a tight end-driven league, or a defense-driven league? Oh, please.
4:08Steve Wyche:It's always a quarterback-driven league. I don't know. Some of those guys impacting the quarterbacks might have a say in that. The voice you hear, of course, is the man, Steve Weiss. Not I. The captain of NFL Network. I like to think of him. Of all the on-air people.
4:24Jourdan Rodrigue:Oh, captain, my captain. That's Jordan Roderigue, co-executive producer of Quarterback Island.
4:30Steve Wyche:I like that. And originator. And Colleen Wolfe, of course. She's here, too. We're setting sail with Steve Weich as the captain. I guess I'm aboard. And Colleen's here, too. She'll try to keep Jalen Hurts on at some point. It'll be fun. Actually, no. Oh, okay. So here's the deal. If you haven't listened to Quarterbacks Island before, we decide who are the quarterbacks that are defining the position this season as of yet. And we left 12 quarterbacks on the island when we last talked. And so I will mention who the quarterbacks on the island were way back in week six or so when we last did this. It's Josh Allen.
5:18Steve Wyche:Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff, Dak Prescott, Baker Mayfield, Justin Herbert, Sam Darnold, Drake May, Matthew Stafford, Daniel Jones, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts. How smart did we look? That's a hell of a 12 right now. I was thinking about it. I'm like, this is tough. We could have come back like a week or two ago, and yet everyone was just playing so well. It didn't almost feel like there was as much to talk about. The guys who were voted on to the island, for instance last time around Darnold May Stafford and Daniel Jones you know when we did our half season MVP we're talking about all those guys so this will be a very interesting show and I will start it just by announcing that not as many people are staying on the island
6:05Jourdan Rodrigue:oh you mother I knew it you're shrinking the number of people on the island it's almost like you had to a new wrinkle
6:16Steve Wyche:I mean, you guys were literally here a year ago when we did it in the exact same time period. The island shrinks. It does. Global warming. Exactly. Erosion. No, HOAs. People are leaving because they can't afford the HOA and the insurance costs. Shout out to the Santa Monica cliffs. You know, hanging strong, but it's just like they're a little smaller. Every year, the beach is getting a little smaller. My spidey sense was going.
6:43Jourdan Rodrigue:It was this around this time last year where Greg unilaterally decided to shrink the island. It was the right move. This is also the right move. But I knew it. I knew it. You hit it so well. I kept saying, I know you've got something coming.
6:55Steve Wyche:I thought of going from 12 all the way down to 8. But then that felt a little dramatic. That's crazy. It'll be down to 10. And so we will decide who gets kicked off out of the islanders now. And if anyone new, we'll be coming on to the island. So much for that 50-year mortgage. And there is one little extra thing. Oh, great. It's more of a clarification for me. Jordan, explain to the listeners what a ripcord is. Because honestly, I couldn't quite remember. Is it taking someone off or putting someone on?
7:28Jourdan Rodrigue:I thought it was a riptide. Riptide. Yes. Yes, once again, it is called a riptide. A ripcord is when you jump out of an airplane with a thing called a paricord. Nobody ever remembers. And you hope the ripcord engages. Everyone remembers, Greg.
7:40Steve Wyche:Eric did not correct me this morning when I brought this up. Okay, so what is a Riptide?
7:46Jourdan Rodrigue:A Riptide is a person can unilaterally use one Riptide per season of Quarterback Island to pull someone off the island without a vote. And they have to be off.
8:02Steve Wyche:Interesting. Yes. And it's just taking away.
8:04Jourdan Rodrigue:It's not bringing someone off. It cannot bring someone off. It is. Let's get to it. The group would have to decide who then comes on. but the person who uses the riptide rip it off washes away somebody off the island ripcord opens the parachute if you're skydiving into the island do you know what a riptide is? it's when you're suddenly just vanished floating away
8:24Steve Wyche:you gotta swim parallel to I felt that once out in Hawaii they're no joke listen to those lifeguards
8:35Jourdan Rodrigue:and yet you can't remember
8:37Steve Wyche:let's talk usually I talk about at the very top of the show, just to, you know, we got to move along here. We'll start with like the big four and be like, all right, these quarterbacks are on the island. We don't really need to discuss them. Does anyone disagree? And those four over time have been Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Burrow. Now Joe Burrow was kicked off the island because he was hurt last time around. He's still hurt, so he's not on. But when I was thinking about it today, I do feel like we're in a little bit of a different place with these guys. Ultimately, you guys can tell me if you disagree.
9:12Steve Wyche:I did actually come up with a big five. A big five. Okay. Like the sneakers. But I do think we can, we could talk about these guys a little bit anyways. Okay. And so it's still Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes who are not having their best seasons. And we can talk about that. And then I threw on Matthew Stafford and Drake May. Yeah. You have to. Big five. Yeah. No problem with that.
9:37Jourdan Rodrigue:Yeah, I'm good with that. But especially, you know, the latter two guys being in the MVP conversation. Shout out to Patrick Claibon. You know, Drake Mays playing unconscious football right now. I think he'd be my choice right now. Yeah, I mean, he's leading the NFL in passing yards and a 72 % completion rate. And these are not just dump-offs. Right. No, he pushes the ball. He drives, yes.
10:02Steve Wyche:It is really insane. We're 11 weeks into the season, and it's a pretty, like, not a hot take to be like, Drake Mays playing quarterback the best of anyone in the NFL. That's crazy. You could come up with other options, but I think that's the right answer. You know, I thought Mahomes of these three was the one I, just for a second, was like, should we talk Patrick Mahomes? Because he's coming off one of the worst two-game stretches he's had in a long time. Well, I mean, he got lit up by Denver. I mean, Denver really caused him some problems, but that was a bad pick he threw to McMillan. There, you know, as they were threatening.
10:37but still, for the most part, when you watch it, he's still trying to figure out, okay, who's going to be open on this play. His offensive line hasn't been consistent. With that said, he still makes most of the games look easy. He still makes playing the position look easy, whereas you saw someone like Jared Goff the other day against Philadelphia. He was like, oh, my gosh. But I have no problem with Patrick Mahomes. But also the Bills game, too. He struggled in that one. Yeah, he did. Mightily, his accuracy. He didn't throw a touchdown, I don't think, in that game.
11:12Steve Wyche:I think that was his stinker, though. He's a little off. Like, when they're getting to the end of these games, I'm starting to just lose a little bit of faith that they're going to make the right place to win him because they're not. Like, he doesn't have a fourth-quarter comeback or a game-winning drive this season. There are times, like, I think of the last, it might have been their last offensive play, where he holds the ball, he doesn't throw it to Brashard Smith, like, fast enough. That wasn't their last play. He got sacked on the last play. where it was a weird play call. They're sending verticals.
11:38Steve Wyche:And he's like not trusting his receivers. No. That said, I didn't want to get too carried away. He was maybe my MVP three weeks ago, so I didn't want to get too carried away. I thought was when I was looking at him and the lack of rhythm and consistency with this offense, the last time we did this, four weeks ago, I guess, we had Lamar Jackson on the list. We kept him on the island just because of precedent. and I think that holds true for Patrick Mahomes as well. So he's not... In the body of work, he's the fight. That's why I don't even feel like we need to vote. But some flags are there.
12:12Jourdan Rodrigue:If he had a better run game, I think you'd also be... I mean, he's always existed sort of as this singular unicorn entity, but we are talking about how, yeah, you really need to give him a better run game. It is really weird. He is like fourth right now in EPA per dropback still in the NFL, but he actually has a lower quarterback rating than Mac Jones by like two points. And is one of the only guys under a hundred that we're going to talk about today. So it's just really incongruous, kind of weird that, you know, he's just, his numbers are all over the place.
12:45Steve Wyche:Like he's third in QBR and 20th in PFF grading. And I think part of that is the, the running helps out your, your QBR, but he's, he's just missed a few throws, but let's be real. All three of them. this is the worst month they've ever had. I was about to say. Lamar's not playing great. Josh Allen's made a lot of mistakes. Lamar's playing okay, but he's coming off one of his worst games in a long time. He's not running the ball nearly as well. And since he's come back from his injury, he's just been like pretty good. I think he's managing that injury. I think he's managing whatever's going on. And Cleveland always gives him hell.
13:17Like when you, if you go back and you look at the games he's played against the Browns, he has never really like eaten them up. So that's, that's a weird divisional matchup. He just did not play well against consistently.
13:25Steve Wyche:And I know, you know, when Josh Allen was doing that push pass from his own end zone early last week, Eric and all the Bills fans were like, can we get Josh Allen out of this freaking slump? And then, you know, he scores. Then he goes for six. Yeah, six touchdowns. Okay, so that we've got.
13:41Jourdan Rodrigue:He's like, I'm not selling my property on the island. No way.
13:44Steve Wyche:What a world that like that Drake May and Stafford are just no brainers. One of the youngest starters in the league and the not the oldest because Aaron Rodgers is still around, but almost. But the crazy thing with Drake May, he's been sacked more than like any quarterback. He's been sacked 36 times. And I think that's a negative somewhat on him. Although I saw some crazy stat that like his percentage of stats that are within a yard or two of the line of scrimmage is way higher than any quarterback in the league. And you do notice that watching the Patriots that he sort of just gives. It's almost like it's a coaching point.
14:17Steve Wyche:They told him just like give up on the play and just like go forward and like lie down, which.
14:21Jourdan Rodrigue:OK. Yeah. I mean, they don't want catastrophe. The other two options are you take a huge loss or you fumble the ball, which has been an issue. So I do think that's a coaching point from them.
14:31Steve Wyche:I love it. That's five guys on the island. There's only five spots to go. At this point in the proceedings, though, we will just go through. I'm just going to quickly run through all the guys that I don't think are even worth talking about today. So these are just like the other guys that are out there in the league going through each team. Tua hasn't been a great year. Obviously not talking about the Jets quarterback. Nothing with the Browns. Aaron Rodgers, by the way, might not play this week. He's missing practice Wednesday, possibly Thursday, Friday. Mike Tomlin says it's going to be a big day for him.
Read the full transcript
15:06Steve Wyche:They might be going to Mason Rudolph. Obviously not a conversation to make the island. Davis Mills or C.J. Stroud, Stroud hasn't been healthy. Trevor Lawrence. Stroud's out. Stroud's out Thursday. He's out Thursday. They've already declared it. That's rough news for them. Shutter Sanders and Dylan Gabriel, obviously not a conversation, Cam Ward, and then Geno Smith, who we will keep, and I'm sick of hearing from everyone, we're keeping him in that opening saga. Because he was part of the quarterback island story. I'm just sick of him on island games. He's not on the island, everyone. You might have to change the sound after Monday night.
15:42You may have to change the sound like, oh, your kids don't do well at school?
15:45Steve Wyche:Blame me. That is an amazing quote that he's just like, anything that happens, just blame me in life. Gina Smith. Joe Flacco would have been an interesting guy to talk about before last week. The numbers were pretty outstanding. In the NFC, Jameis and Jackson Dart, no conversation there, nothing with Washington. Obviously, Jane Daniels has been hurt, and J.J. McCarthy, oof. Atlanta, Michael Penix. I'm a little disappointed. Neither Penix, nor young nor Lawrence, for instance, ever even got into the conversation of getting onto quarterback island, although Bryce is coming off a great game. Tyler Shuck is a cross off the entire Cardinals situation with Jacoby Brissette, despite that record that he set.
16:29Steve Wyche:And Brock Purdy is just back. Just too new. So I think it's too early to talk. So those are the guys that we won't even talk about.
16:38Jourdan Rodrigue:Respect them all. Now I'll throw it to Colleen.
16:42Steve Wyche:Why not? I mean, let's start the real deal. So wait, wait, wait. Are we going to trim or are we going to stay with the guys? Now, basically, there's five guys that are up for grabs that are on the island. And there's other guys we could potentially nominate. Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, Bo Nix are some quarterbacks I didn't mention. And so it's really like those eight guys, unless you guys want to throw out anyone that I haven't mentioned, for those five spots. So I think, Colleen, why don't you throw someone out for discussion and say whether you want to kick them off or not? Initially, I was thinking that we would bring Brock Purdy into the conversation.
17:20OK, you want to? Well, if we're talking about how we did leave Lamar Jackson on the island before and we're leaving Patrick Mahomes on the island now, despite all of the red flags with his play, Brock Purdy, before he was hurt, played really well. And now he came back. It's only one game, one sample size. but the offense just looked, the guys looked so much more comfortable in their places. And it was, I felt like he really brought George Kittle alive and Christian McCaffrey alive and everything flowed a little bit better. But if you guys don't want, if you want to wait and kind of just give that a little asterisk, then that's fine.
17:59Steve Wyche:Yeah. Those other guys that you mentioned, like Lamar and Mahomes and whatnot, those are two of the greatest quarterbacks of all. Well, I mean, and the other one is Brock Purdy and he didn't even play that well. I will push back early in the season. He's fine.
18:11Jourdan Rodrigue:I had to deal with this on Sunday. They got to a much more complicated version of their offense with Brock Purdy, to Colleen's very good point. But here's why we can't grandfather Brock in, is because Cooper Rush did not play well for Lamar. You know, the guys who came in for the injured players did not play well. Mack Jones did his thing a little bit. You know, I'm not saying... Where does that leave us with Mack Jones?
18:33Steve Wyche:Brock Purdy's played three games. Brock Purdy's played three games this year, and in two of them, he's thrown multiple interceptions and did not look great, I would say, we just wanted to. And look at the opponent. I mean, he carved a beer zone.
18:45Jourdan Rodrigue:We got another vote before the end of the season. So I think that's in and it.
18:49Steve Wyche:He can earn his way on. All right, then Colleen, I want you to throw off. All right, throw someone off. Try to throw someone off the island. Throw someone off the island? Okay, you want me to just throw Jalen Hurts under the bus, which, listen, as someone from Philadelphia, the way that we show love is by booing people is by telling people what is maybe wrong with them, what they need to fix. That's kind of our love language. Yeah. And the inconsistencies that we've seen with this offense and specifically Jalen Hurts has been considerable when I feel like the bye week sort of messed up and Patrick Clavon is obviously in my head, their momentum.
19:33But he looked, he hit his peak in week seven and eight. Things were rolling. The offense looked good. They were passing the ball and moving it really well. He had combined for seven touchdowns and zero interceptions in those two games. Then the bye week happened, and then Green Bay happened, where everything noticeably dipped. He only threw for one touchdown. His passer rating dropped to 92.3. They still got the win. But then against Detroit, a season-low 50 % completions on his passes for just 135 yards. He didn't produce a touchdown in that game. They had to rely on the run, a 63.8 passer rating.
20:14This is not something that has just popped up either. This is something that they have been dealing with the Eagles since the beginning of the season, the up and down nature of this offense. Now, is that the play caller or is that the quarterback? Well, the only thing we can really measure is how the quarterback runs the offense. And right now it is too up and down and they're relying on their defense. So I don't think he should be on the island. That's a very legit argument. Especially if we're trimming. That's a very legit argument. This just makes him better. This is motivation for him to get back on the island.
20:49Get back out there. Let's get that passer rating up. He just got too comfortable, right?
20:54Steve Wyche:We famously left him off the island to wrap up last regular season. And then he did what he does, which is go on one of the best playoff runs any quarterback could.
21:06Jourdan Rodrigue:Right. This is all a part of Colleen's plan. Master plan.
21:10Steve Wyche:This whole thing where he like talks about wanting to be Jordan and all that matters is winning and this and that. Like, it seems like a little bit corny. And also it's like, okay, Jalen Hurts is not. And then. Are you saying it's getting into like Russell Wilson territory? No. What I'm going to say is then, and then you think about his career and you think like he has literally played his best football games by far in the biggest spots, which is like, that's some Jordan stuff, but we got a grade on the regular season. I don't know if it's that tough of a decision. I don't think it's tough, because overall the whole offense hasn't been good.
21:43Now Lane Johnson's out for a month.
21:46Steve Wyche:Derek Gunn, who is... D-Gunn, PowerCast Sportsnet? Give a little context of who he is sort of in the Philly sports culture. Derek Gunn is a legend. We worked together for many, many years. He works at the Regional Sports Network. He is very in on everything that's happening with the Philadelphia Eagles, specifically, but all Philly sports. But he is an icon. Kind of an insider's insider. And he said on television after the last game that lots of people in the Eagles are frustrated with the quarterback situation. And when I heard that and he said it's frustrating to the coaching staff and to the players, extremely frustrating to the players, because when they look at the film the next day or days later, they see what's out there, what should have happened.
22:28Steve Wyche:basically throws that he's not making. So unfortunately he is getting those W's. He's a good quarterback, but I don't think he's wild.
22:36Jourdan Rodrigue:And of all the things that, you know, have emerged as frustrating within the Philadelphia Eagles organization for this, after all of this time for this to come out and, and be sort of this not so open secret anymore, I think says a lot about what they're leaving on the table there.
22:54Steve Wyche:It's like a, It's like a much handsomer version of what happened with Carson Wentz, you know, six years ago. So they're the number one seed in the NFC. We are voting the quarterback. I'm voting no for him to be on quarterback. Oh, okay. So you have a yes sign. Wait. We're voting him. You're voting him off. You haven't been on the island or not. Yeah, Greg did give us like. He's saying yes. He's voted off. He's voted off. Vote no. Yeah, bye. At this point, if we're voting for the guys again. It's easy for you guys to keep him on the island. I thought I'm reading this room wrong.
23:25Jourdan Rodrigue:Overthought it there, Colleen.
23:27Steve Wyche:No, we either vote them on or not. The players that are on the island that we still will be voting on today at some point are Jared Goff, Dak Prescott, Baker Mayfield, Justin Herbert, Sam Darnold, and Daniel Jones. So those guys will all be discussed at some point. And anyone else that you guys want to nominate, we still have five spots to go. Do you want to kick anyone off, Jordan?
23:52Jourdan Rodrigue:Want is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Okay. But I feel that I must because I have been the number one supporter of this quarterback outside of Matthew Stafford this entire season. And that is Baker Mayfield. Wow. Yeah. Wow. So here's the thing. Baker Mayfield was playing. And I don't care how tacky it is to have this discussion too early in the season. But he was playing at an MVP clip. and he was playing some of the best quarterback of any quarterback in the NFL. He was like, you know, setting up businesses on the island at this point. You know, he was supposed to be there, right? But the last few weeks, and that is the sample size that I'm looking at here textually, since our last vote, Baker Mayfield has not been rolling.
24:43Jourdan Rodrigue:and this it's in part and we're not gonna either punish or reward a guy for this we've been really good about this for the entire i think since quarterback island has existed we've been really good at not punishing a guy for like injuries elsewhere on the team or uh whether the system is uplifting or whatever but he does have a healthy offensive line through this time period and he did not through that first portion of right and still he is not playing consistent football he has under a 50 % success rate. So in fact, he's a 43 % success rate on passing plays. He is behind all of these guys who are even in consideration for the Island and some guys who are not in consideration for the Island in, um, EPA per drop back.
25:28Jourdan Rodrigue:And he has a 97 quarterback rating passer rating. And so I feel like this is, it's just time it's time. And he can come back on and And knowing Baker Mayfield a little bit, you know, he has a chip on his shoulder. You know what he's going to do? This is going on. Try to fight his way back in. But if we're cutting it, especially even if it was 12, I probably wouldn't have him on. So cutting it down to 10, certainly I think we got to vote Baker Mayfield off quarterback
25:52Steve Wyche:I thought this was going to be a tougher conversation. I don't think so. Oh, it hurts my soul. I mean, you guys and your precious Baker. I mean, we got to make a new drop. Keep side rolling, baby.
26:03Jourdan Rodrigue:We got to make it. Keep side rolling, baby. Stop! Keeps on rolling, baby! It's horrible.
26:14Steve Wyche:We need to come up. You need to put her voice into it where it's like, Baker Ball, not... Wait, I don't know how it would work. Doesn't keep rolling, baby! Really good idea. Strong idea, Greg. Is not... Keeps on rolling, baby. I was like, oh, the tense is really going to mess me up here. He had a good game against the Patriots, And I thought that things were going to maybe start to trend back up. But then against the Bills, that was another tough outing, although his mobility looked better because I guess he's getting a little healthier. It's just not consistent.
26:46Jourdan Rodrigue:And part of it, and again, I have to be fair and evaluate him in a vacuum. And yeah, I think it should not go unsaid that, yeah, he's still dealing. You know, his top two receivers, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, still haven't been there. But still, some of this tape, when you watch of him, guys are open. and he's not hitting them or there's inconsistencies, I think he will right the ship, our matey, so to speak. Our matey. But I also feel like for this portion of time that we're evaluating for quarterback island, I would vote him off. I don't think he's playing terribly, but because we do have to shrink and you see the other people, I mean, that to me is the criteria because he still, to me, could lead a lot of teams.
27:26He hasn't had Bucky Irving around for a lot of the run game. The whole offense as a whole has gotten a little bit inconsistent, but part of it is because Baker has not been great, but he'll rally.
27:38Steve Wyche:I think the Patriots game is a great example because there were guys, like there are just throws that he's not making. That's the eye test, then you look at the numbers, which you talked about, like 17th in EPA, 13th in QBR, 19th in PFF. Just a lot of turnover-worthy plays. He could come back. I could easily see Sunday Rams. Like, that's the game where Baker starts making it happen
28:04Jourdan Rodrigue:and makes Jordan feel a certain way while she's there covering the game.
28:08Steve Wyche:I know.
28:08Jourdan Rodrigue:I'm so excited. That is the game. Baker Mayfield was the hinge point that basically pulled the Rams football side of their organization. Thursday night football. I'll never forget that. Out of the emotional depths. Wasteland. And Baker Mayfield comes to town and is like a bolt of sunshine. Here's a little story about that, because they got him on like a Monday, right? On a Tuesday. Uh-huh. And remember their center, Brian Allen? He used to walk around barefoot. Angry center. He used to do the grounding thing. Angry center. So I saw him before kickoff. I was like, is Baker going to be able to start?
28:40He's like, he has to, because he's the only guy on the roster who can throw a forward pass. Oh, my God. And then Baker comes in and leads him to the late victory over the Raiders. And then it's on and popping from there. Like the whole rebirth of Baker started that night.
28:53Steve Wyche:All right. So let's vote on Baker Mayfield. I vote no. You go.
28:59Jourdan Rodrigue:I'm sorry, Baker.
29:01Steve Wyche:Everyone holding up a big fat no. So we're at 10. We're at 10, Greg. Okay. Rosie math. We're at 10. We're at five. Well, that's true. Okay, five that are on. And we've only kicked two off. So even under that math that you said, yeah. Yeah, and I just want to point out that Colleen and I just demonstrated some emotional bravery
29:23Jourdan Rodrigue:just now, our guys that we petitioned to kick off the island. I just want to say profiles and courage. And also, that Baker was Weitch's guy, too.
29:35Steve Wyche:Yeah.
29:36Jourdan Rodrigue:Baker the kingmaker. We're all really, I think, stepping up. We're owning this.
29:41Steve Wyche:I'm annoyed because I wanted to be able to use the riptide on him, and it's not even necessary. There you go. He flushed himself right into the ocean. We took away your ripcord.
29:52Steve Wyche:Alright. Steve, you could bring up someone to cement on the island or kick off. Well, it's easy to cement guys on. I don't know. Yeah, I think guys on here, it's easy to cement a dude on here. There's some guys, you know, we're not going to. But I think one that's legitimately up for conversation is Jared Goff. Okay. You know, he had a disastrous game against Philadelphia, but that's what Philadelphia's doing to teams right now. So we'll see if he bounces back. but just kind of based on who we have left on here, I think Jared might be the most vulnerable. There's one more on here that I could see, but they haven't been – now, the offensive line has been an issue.
30:35I mean, as much of a dominant offensive line as it used to be, and Greg, we were talking about Panay Sewell for MVP. He hadn't had the best couple weeks, and the rest of the offensive line has not been great. But when I'm looking at potential cuts here, This is just a numbers game, so to speak, right? We're at, got to get to the final 53, so to speak, got to the final 10. I would say Jared Goff, and if not, Jared Goff-Dak. I mean, I just can't see.
31:03Steve Wyche:Let's talk Goff now, and maybe we'll table it and see if anyone would lift up to potentially pass him. The case against him is, you know, you watch him in a game like that, and you think about his limitations, you know, against pressure. There's always such a dramatic difference when you look at his stats, the EPA per play or whatever it is, and he's top five when he's clean and he's outside the top 20 when he's pressured. You want a quarterback that can maybe survive a little better. The weather situation, like he's had some bad games and bad weather. And then you look at just overall this year, like if we're going to give them extra credit for when they're winning a lot, they're six and four right now, and his stats are a little all over the place.
31:47Steve Wyche:Some are good. Eighth in EPA per drop back. Some are bad. 15th in QBR, 21st in PFFs grading. That's traditionally something he does pretty well in. So when I look at him, he's always been a little bit of a limited quarterback. And I think partly so affected by what's around him. And I think that's the case now because what's around him is not as good. So I'm struggling with how much to punish him for this. He seems like he's on the edge. he that Jared Goff reminded me of the Jared Goff that played the Patriots in the Super Bowl and I feel like they sort of did some of the same things the Eagles did in terms of pressure we talked about this oh you you are the one who told me about it and Fangio runs a defense that's the model that the Bears ran when they absolutely took apart the Rams and then the Patriots Bill Belichick copied it so I went back and watched and you're exactly right which was fascinating to me But then I'm like, OK, in terms of the island, I don't want recency bias to completely affect my vote here.
32:53How he did against the Eagles, when you compare it to how he played against Washington the week before, he was so efficient. And yes, that's a totally different defense and a completely different team. But yes, he's been inconsistent recently. But prior to that, he's been really good and leading the most high-powered offense.
33:13Steve Wyche:I think since we last taped the episode, he has not been an island-worthy type of quarterback. Correct. I think even in the win against the Bucs, like, not an amazing game. The loss to the Vikings. Like, he's probably had the worst five weeks or so since we've seen him. I kind of want to table him. Let's table him. Yeah. Because the whole line has not been great. It just has not been great. All right. Let's actually get more people on the island. Okay. Like, in terms of who's staying. and you're leading with who you feel the most in your guys' souls. I will too. Let's do Justin Herbert. Does anyone have a big argument against Justin Herbert?
33:53Steve Wyche:Zero.
33:54Jourdan Rodrigue:No, and I feel terrible for him, in fact. Frankly, I feel distraught on his behalf.
33:59Steve Wyche:I thought because I try to take a little bit of emotion out and when you do look at all these numbers that I keep quoting, like EPA per place, success rate, QBR, PFF. His profile is okay. You know, it's not great. It's outside the top 10 and everything except for PFF, which is a little closer to what I think most people would say are like eyeball tests grading every quarterback just on a play to play basis. But man, going into last week, I thought he had a pretty good at like case as the best quarterback in the NFL this year. I know that seems crazy. Last week was brutal, but I'm not going to kill him that much for one terrible.
34:36His team didn't play well in that offensive line, which is not great right now. Absolutely broke down last week. Their defense didn't play well for the first time in a long time. But, you know, we can talk all the analytics, the PFFs, everything when it comes to Justin Herbert. When you watch that dude play, like that's a guy. Like we talk about playing the position the way it's supposed to be played. He is, there's no way in hell you can't consider him a top five or six QB.
35:03Jourdan Rodrigue:Also, there's a difference between not holding someone's lack of tools around them or offensive line or play call or whatever. There's a difference between not holding that against them for or against them and what Justin Herbert's dealing with right now. Trevor Penning was at left tackle. Like, what are we doing? What are we doing?
35:21Steve Wyche:We're going to the island. And he's going to be there. All right, everyone. I want an audible yes. Yes, he belongs. You are in the emergency exit row. I need a verbal yes from each one of you. Yes. are willing and able. And shout out to Justin Herbert's brother. Ben, is it? Did not know you were in the NFL on the Jaguars practice squad. You're tied in? A mustache. It's Patrick. Patrick Herbert.
35:45Jourdan Rodrigue:Yeah, Ben Herbert's the Chargers strength coach. Okay, there's He was in the subconscious somewhere.
35:50Steve Wyche:Who knew? Let's take a break. So many Herberts. We are going to decide who the final four quarterbacks are on Quarterback Island. Maybe introduce some players that were not there before.

40:26Steve Wyche:Back on Quarterback Island. We're keeping this show nice and concentrated. The TNF preview, by the way. We're putting that into the preview. We just want it all quarterback island. I'll be at the game, too. This is a tightly run ship. We do have some news. And it's actually time for our news of the day. Presented by Olive Garden's never-ending soup or salad and breakfast. Soup? We love soup. Who would want the perfect? It's on us with every entree. And the breaking news here, it's actually part of Quarterback Island. Baker Mayfield and Jalen Hurts have been kicked off Quarterback Island. And what people don't realize is Quarterback Island, for the most part, it's pretty sparse.
41:12Steve Wyche:It's pretty spare. The guys are just hanging out. But there actually is an Olive Garden there. Hell yeah. Awesome. They can get all the soup they want on breadsticks. So, like, Baker and Hurts, like, no more never-ending soup or salad and breadsticks for you.
41:26Jourdan Rodrigue:I bet Matthew Stafford just loves a nice broth, you know? Like a bone broth. Yeah, like really. He looks like more an Italian wedding guy. Nourishing. Oh, yeah. What do you think? Good stuff there.
41:36Steve Wyche:I'm excited that we're able to introduce some more food to the guys. I'm starving. They were getting hungry. I'm starving too, which means, all right, let's keep going. I'm just going to throw out a name that I don't think has a good chance to make the island, but I just wanted to bring him up, and that's Caleb Williams. Ooh, I was thinking that you might bring him up. I'm not making the case for him. I'm just pointing out that he's gotten into the quarterback island conversation with, I think, the ability to make plays on his own and not make mistakes. That's an intoxicating combination for a quarterback.
42:15Steve Wyche:He's not doing everything at the highest of levels, I think, maybe to get over and get onto the island. but the combination of wow plays and a real lack of negative plays is a great like foundation for
42:28Jourdan Rodrigue:him to build off yeah and i mentioned this a couple weeks ago but i think that also ben johnson's doing a better job of uh unclenching a little bit in in terms of there are times when it is so beneficial to turn on like the superhero type of plays and the out of structure plays um but there's Also, when they aren't sort of turning that valve, you can tell Caleb Williams has improved in a lot of different areas. He's playing calmer in those plays. He's seeing the middle of the field especially a lot better, in my opinion. And all of those things are crucial to what Ben Johnson wants to do on offense.
43:06Jourdan Rodrigue:And now also him as a play caller, finding that balance of when to kind of be a little freer with it. I think those things just come with time, and you're starting to see that come together a little bit. Yeah, I think, too, if you just go back and look at his recent performances, obviously Week 8 against the Ravens, he had that interception. But against the Bengals, he had three touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown himself. So that was historic. He's the only quarterback on Quarterback Island, or in the conversation in Quarterback Island, who I think has done that so far this year. We have to look that up.
43:41Oh, I don't know. That's got to be worth a raft, right? I think so. Got to be worth a floaty at least. But I also look at his game-winning drive against the Giants as being a step of growth. And I think that we can see measurable growth from him and development every single week. And it feels like he right now is a totally different quarterback than the quarterback we saw start the season with Ben Johnson.
44:06Steve Wyche:Totally agree. So I'm going to vote no on Caleb Williams, even though I brought him up. I just wanted to give him a little bit. It's a real good conversation. Like pack a bag, Caleb. You might have to use it. This is kind of a pat on the back, Caleb, that quarterback island, we're scouting you. Yeah. You know.
44:20Jourdan Rodrigue:Yes.
44:21Steve Wyche:You might have a spot at the Olive Garden.
44:23Jourdan Rodrigue:I'm voting no, but I hereby award him a touchdown float. That's great.
44:28Steve Wyche:There we go. All right. Steve, why don't you. Conversation piece. Okay. Conversation piece. My guy, Bo Nix. Okay. We can sit there and talk about, oh, he's not this, he's not that. Fourth quarter, who do you want running your team?
44:43Jourdan Rodrigue:Sean Payton. Patrick Mahomes. Sean Payton was running the other three, too. Justin Berger. But I'm just saying, Bo Nix is doing it. By the way, Bo Nix caught a touchdown pass last season. Oh. But, I mean, look at this. He's a tough guy to evaluate because he plays out of structure, which has got to be driving Sean Payton absolutely nuts. But that's where I think he's the most dangerous, when he can run on the move. He puts a defender in conflict. and for whatever reason, late in games, he is on target with the ball. I don't know if he's an island guy when I see who's on here, but man, the way that they're playing overall, the way that he hangs in there and plays, now that R.J.
45:27Harvey has become kind of that dual threat running back, I think that's going to open up the offense a little bit more. I mean, I just want to put Bo Nix in this conversation, 10th leading passer in the NFL as well.
45:39Steve Wyche:Here's the case for Bo Nix. he is helping to define the season. He is one of the centerpieces. And that is one of the... The late game rally? You can't tell the story of the 2025 NFL season without Bonet. I do think that he is at least worth talking about because of that. He's coming off his best game, so I don't want it to be recency biased. But he played well that whole game. He outplayed Patrick Mahomes in that game and has had a lot of success against the Chiefs. He's in a better situation, obviously. I think his inconsistencies over the course of the season makes it tough, but I'm willing to table him for now and not even say no.
46:16Yeah, because his inconsistencies are in the passing game. What he does on the move just changes things a little bit. I know he had some dimes in that game.
46:23Steve Wyche:He played really well overall. I know Eric is probably going crazy because we didn't follow the path this week, and we haven't totally cemented too many people on. So I think that's why I want to table it for now. What do you guys think? We'll table it. What do we think about Eric's expression right now? But we have to clear a space, too. If we're going to put somebody on, we have to clear a space. Right. Well, we have to decide who is definitely on. Why don't you, Jordan, nominate someone you definitely want on the island? I don't think we should table guys anymore. I think that we should decide.
46:51Okay.
46:52Jourdan Rodrigue:Let's get the process. I still want Sam Darnold on the island. He's on. Yeah. He's on. One game. We're all in agreement. Against the demon in his closet, which is the Los Angeles Rams pass rush, does not a quarterback island remove.
47:08Steve Wyche:I really think that without this, I know it's with Sam Darnold,
47:13Jourdan Rodrigue:the thing that we always get sucked into with him, and it's unfortunate for him because it's coming at the hands of the Rams every time is this recency bias of like, oh, his last game affects the conversation about Sam Darnold. We're not going to let that happen this time. He is the architect of the league's most explosive passing offense. So I definitely want him on the island.
47:32Steve Wyche:I will vote yes on Sam Darnold. I just wanted to punish him slightly by not putting him in that top five. But you're right. He's probably number six.
47:39Jourdan Rodrigue:Yes, of course you wanted to punish him.
47:41Steve Wyche:Well, because, look, I gave him – he was our official, and no one can ever take this away from him, our official NFL Daily midseason MVP this year. Now, since those two games, he's thrown five picks and fumbled the ball twice. So he needs to – I know he played well enough against Arizona.
48:01Jourdan Rodrigue:One of them came in – excuse me, four of those picks in one game. I'm going to go ahead and call that an outlier. He's getting a warning from the landlord on the island is what we're saying. Yes. And here's the thing. The stuff he's doing, he's got the fewest attempts of, like, significantly by anybody who's on the island even in consideration. So he's dealing.
48:21Steve Wyche:All right, congratulations to Sam Dunn. He's on. He's on. Colleen, anyone else you want to nominate to either discuss or just say is definitely on? However you want to frame it. Why don't we discuss a little, I'm looking through my people here. Let's discuss Daniel Jones. We haven't brought him up yet. And yeah, he's been a little inconsistent. Obviously, in Germany, he was sacked an unbelievable amount of times. but he performed better than he did against Pittsburgh. The game against Pittsburgh for Daniel Jones was absolutely brutal. They warmed him up. Turned the ball over five times, three interceptions, two lost fumbles.
49:02He got sacked a ton. He had a little bit of a step forward in Germany. He performed a little better, but he still turned the ball over and was sacked a ton. The offensive line really struggled in this game. But prior to that, if you look at weeks seven and eight, he was super efficient. And the ball security, too, was there. He had two of his best games of the season. He had really impressive passer ratings. Sure, it was against the Titans, one of those games, and the Chargers. Titans, man, that's a competitive football team as bad as they are, man. Right. They're not the Raiders. They're chaos causers.
49:41Right. So Daniel Jones, you know how I feel about DJ. He's kind of the same way I feel about Sam Darnold. For me, he stays on the island, but he's also getting a warning from the landlord.
49:52Steve Wyche:I think he's a trickier case because those two games were pretty brutal. You know, Darnold, I mentioned, it's five interceptions, two fumbles for the two games. For Daniel Jones, it's four interceptions and six fumbles and 12 sacks. At least one of those was a center snap exchange, which is really not his fault. But that's a lot. And even over the course of the season, now his rate stats are incredible. They make a strong case to like be on the island. PFF, for instance, has him 18th. And that's on the more play to play kind of a little bit more of an eyeball test. So to me, eyeball test, I'm not sure.
50:31Steve Wyche:It's a tough conversation between him and Goff and Jared Love, who Jordan Love, who we have not gotten to for me. What we do is put Jonathan Taylor on the island. Yeah, right.
50:42Jourdan Rodrigue:I do also want to point out that even when he's not blitzed, he's turning the ball over frequently. Again, without a blitz this season, six of his interceptions. So it's like, okay, if you're rushing four and it's cloudier in the back, a quarterback has to make those pinpoint throws and do all that. I think he's been incredible, but these last two games have really, really hurt him if we're looking at that sample size. Yeah, but, I mean, again, I look at everything. Have they hurt him enough to get him off the island? I don't, when I'm looking at this, I don't see it. Not clear? And part of it.
51:16In use of evidence? And part of it, I mean, the fumbles I hate, because that is something that is just with him. He is going to put the ball on the ground, and that's something.
51:24Jourdan Rodrigue:And against pressure, you know, only completing 60 % of his passes when any pressure at all is coming toward him. Yeah, I mean, that's. That's not bad. Yeah, it's not like. It's not bad, but it's like you factor in the interceptions along with that. Sure. You know. But there's this, and this has to be one of my factors into quarterback criteria. And it's an old saying. If a quarterback is willing to jump in the pile for a fumble, that's a leader you want to have. And Daniel Jones has shown that. Take the image of the bloody mouth. Looks like he had off the top. Oh, he's a fantastic leader. Right.
51:56So, again, I think with all of that, the fact that they're winning, despite some of the other things they have going on. And just, we can talk about his inaccuracies here and there. But when he's on, man, I mean, he's sick.
52:08Steve Wyche:It's tricky for what the exercise is really, because he's still eighth in EPA per play. He's second in success rate.
52:15Jourdan Rodrigue:And he's defining this year.
52:16Steve Wyche:He is helping to define.
52:18Jourdan Rodrigue:Yeah.
52:18Steve Wyche:Can we table him? Because I kind of want to have the conversation of who are the finals. We're tabling one more guy. Let's see if we all agree. Let's see where we are with Dak Prescott. Is there a big case against Dak Prescott?
52:32Jourdan Rodrigue:Dak should be on the island. Dak's on. Let's be quick. Yes. Dak Prescott's on the island. Great. No issues. Great.
52:38Steve Wyche:We can speed it up there. Okay, Dak's on. Great. Good job by Dak, by the way. You know, he's going to be a big part of the rest of the season.
52:45Jourdan Rodrigue:Speaking of leaders.
52:46Steve Wyche:Christmas and Thanksgiving and Sunday nights and just good on you. Listen, to have a team through the tragedy that they've just gone through,
52:57Jourdan Rodrigue:to be a captain and a leader for a team going through a loss like that,
53:04Jourdan Rodrigue:it's unfathomable, really. And you could really tell him and Solomon Thomas and Brian Schottenheimer together how they had that group. Well, Dak and Solly went through it with family members of their own. You could tell after when he was talking to SVP on the postgame show that he was so emotional about it, but he's just so emotionally intelligent. He's an intelligent quarterback in general, but that's a different measurement. And he was really speaking from the heart.
53:33Steve Wyche:I'm always so impressed when Dak Prescott speaks. And I have noticed a change. Life changes happen to you, and you change as a person. And since his brother committed suicide, and he spoke about that many times, he always just attacks his job with the right perspective. And by the way, how he's attacking it on the field is just a beauty. To me, he is the closest thing we have to Peyton Manning. I had him in the top five. Yeah, and the way he deals with the dynamic of the owner. Yep.
54:02Jourdan Rodrigue:Oh, he manages. Bingo. The owner doesn't even realize he's being managed. That's how well Dak manages the owner. Okay.
54:10Steve Wyche:Let's talk Jordan Love because here's how I want to frame it now.
54:13Jourdan Rodrigue:I'm excited. Okay.
54:14Steve Wyche:We have eight guys are definitely on the island. We've already voted them on, which means in theory, there's two spots available that Jared Goff and Daniel Jones are holding tenuously. I think Love for me and then Bo Nix, we also talked about, are threatening to maybe take those two spots. And so I think that's how I wanted everyone to think about it. It's those four guys now for two spots. And Jordan, you wanted to talk Jordan Love. So what do you got to say?
54:45Jourdan Rodrigue:Yeah, because I feel like we all know and see the lows are woo-hoo, buddy. They are crazy, some of the lows and some of the missed throws. He's been hurt by drops, I would say. Yes. More than one occasion. and the highs. There is no quarterback who can throw the ball like him on the little fadeaway shots. He's talented. 60 yards down the field. There is no quarterback who can be this young era of gunslinger like him. We already pulled a young gunslinger in Baker Mayfield off the island. I want Jordan Love on representing the young gunslinger era in the NFL. He gives no Fs. I mean, he does. He cares quite a bit.
55:26Jourdan Rodrigue:But he will take these risks and make these plays. And I think at times doing it, despite the fact that he's got a great play caller, but one who just really wants to run the ball probably a little too much sometimes. And Jordan Love, when he is on, you have this feeling like anything is possible. Any throw is possible. And you notice, I'm not even saying stats because his stats are crazy because we've seen some truly atrocious play times from him this year. And he's still among the leaders in the league in EPA per drop back because of how productive the highs are. And I think he belongs on the island.
56:04Jourdan Rodrigue:I think he is one of the players that define, especially through this difficult middle part of the season, and the Packers having to figure out how to win these games that they are way too close in and way too consistent in. And he is a part of that as well, the inconsistency. but he is defining a part of this season where it is either they are going to be a Super Bowl true Super Bowl contending team or not and he is a quarterback who at the highest of highs can be that guy yeah the highest of highs you look at his performance against the Steelers and he got NFC offensive player of the week those are the high moments but I just thought against the Giants even though it wasn't a pretty game and he was playing through the shoulder injury and he had all of the drop passes his leadership and his poise in that game for them to grind it out just speaks volumes of his intangibles too that he's bringing to the table so I I would consider having him on this island I want him on it's what I don't love him that's the thing when I watch him I love his talent I love his leadership I love his toughness but there's just something and this and eye testing.
57:10There's just something about his game where I just don't know if he is you know, he's there. It's almost like how you were talking about with Daniel Jones. I just don't know if the game had to come down to him. And part of that is with Tucker Craft out of the lineup, they seem to have lost their daddy. Like, what do we do? They do like, what are we doing off it? How do we figure this out? Where do we go? And that's where someone like a Josh Allen or someone was like, don't worry, we got this. And I don't know if I've seen that out of him now. Is that enough to pull off a Jared Goff and say, yeah, because Jared Goff has shown some of those same tendencies as well.
57:54But I don't know. Jordan Love is one of these guys. I love his talent so much and his toughness and everything, but it's just a weird evaluation for me, just taking the numbers out of everything.
58:05Steve Wyche:I think people use game manager as a pejorative. but Lamar Jackson's one of the best game managers in the NFL. Great quarterbacks know when to do certain things. I do think it's a fair criticism or at least place for development that Jordan Love, that's not his strength yet. The last four weeks, I think, are a good example of Jordan Love.
58:25Jourdan Rodrigue:I don't think it's his play caller's strength either.
58:28Steve Wyche:It's all tied together. After that Pittsburgh game, I'm thinking, man, how did we not have Jordan Love on the island? Then the next two games, it's the Panthers and those Eagles games, and Jordan Love wasn't terrible in the Panthers game, but he left you wanting in a couple game management situations and the Eagles game was rough and you're like, okay, that's why Jordan Love's not on it. And then the Giants game was one of the best quarterback games I thought of the entire season despite his stats. He was incredible. So let's actually put a pin in it. We're going to take one final break. And on the other side, we will vote on all four quarterbacks who are going to die.
59:03Steve Wyche:He's like, no more tabling and Greg dropped two on. Two on the table. I'm over here trying to streamline. It's fine. We need a break. 1:02:33Steve Wyche:Back for the final segment. Hold up real quick. Of Quarterback Island. Hold up, hold up. Daddy's here, by the way. Hold up. Hold up. Daddy's not gone anywhere. No, no, Colleen and Joy, will you explain this to me? Every time we come back from break, I don't know if it's a nervous tick or whatever, but Greg is with this. I know, and he's almost hitting you every single time. That's why you see me. I'm an arm swinger. You have to sit next to Greg. You got to have your head on a swivel. It's not a nervous tick. It's an excited. There we go. All right. He's like fanning. I'm like, I would like to see this as a fan.
1:03:02Steve Wyche:Now, when I watch the Packers all season, I'm just going to think, Daddy's gone. Whenever they show Tucker Craft on the side. Okay, we left off talking.
1:03:11Jourdan Rodrigue:The emotional dependence on Tucker sounds like me and my dog.
1:03:15Steve Wyche:We left off talking about, I guess, one of Tucker Craft's sons, Jordan Love. And I think it's time to bring up a vote. And we'll do it one by one. Steve Weiss, your vote. My vote is a no. My vote is a no. I'm seeing some of the other quarterbacks who have been on the island, and I just don't know if I could put them on over them. I am going to vote yes. Jordan made a convincing case, I thought.
1:03:42Jourdan Rodrigue:It's a trap somehow.
1:03:44Steve Wyche:It's a feel, and it's a statistical case combined. And it's also, let's be honest, we have a certain amount that we've got to fill. I think he deserves it more than Jared Goff personally, so I'm voting yes.
1:03:58Jourdan Rodrigue:Yes, I fully admit, as I mentioned in my argument, of some of the inconsistencies that we've seen, but Jordan Love belongs on Quarterback Island. It's about time also. And I think that, you know, throw for throw, he is playing more unbelievably than some of the other quarterbacks that we're talking about. Throw for throw.
1:04:18Steve Wyche:All right, Colleen. You have a deciding vote. If I'm looking at the fact that we have two spots left and four quarterbacks. You've got to pick your two that you want, basically. Goff, Jones, Love, Knicks. Out of those four, Love goes on. That's a yes! She had the no up in her hand. Oh, my gosh. And she put it back down. Okay. We need to have a new sponsor.
1:04:39Jourdan Rodrigue:A homo replay of that one.
1:04:40Steve Wyche:We need to have, like, extra cameras in here so people can watch it live. And anyone that was on the ISO Colleen cam was seeing the no. She was holding it. Well, because then I looked at the list and the spots. Wow. That was a Brodo pull. Guys, Brodo. It's the best for all of your bros. Oh, my God. Yeah. Now we're talking. Okay. And that was Quarterback Island, episode three, season two. Is your boy Bo getting on? Now I feel bad because if we vote no on Bo Nix, which I'm going to, it almost feels disrespectful to Steve because he didn't want him on. No, there's more of a season. There's more of a season.
1:05:25There's more of a season left.
1:05:27Steve Wyche:Yeah. I just don't think he's played quarterback well. Like, I know the fourth quarter matters more, but ultimately every play I want to be evaluated, and for the 11 weeks of this season, he falls short. That's fair. It's fair. But the fact that he's even being talked about, that's a win. I'm voting no.
1:05:45Jourdan Rodrigue:I'll vote no.
1:05:46Steve Wyche:I'll vote no.
1:05:46Jourdan Rodrigue:Yeah, I'm voting no on Bo because I want someone else on more. There's more season.
1:05:51Steve Wyche:Yeah, exactly. I'm saying no on Bo. Do you not want my vote, Greg? We had three. Well, you know what? That's a bro no. It's just like all of us who, you know, sent the mail-ins for Prop 50, but they put it out you know you sent it on tuesday it was like yeah i guess it you know it's gonna take a while for them to even like count that but it still counts in the end um last two it's it's a war and um it's gonna be either daniel jones or jared goff getting kicked off quarterback island i think you have the most emotionally at stake here colleen so i'll let you um talk about this This is a good one.
1:06:36Steve Wyche:Why don't you basically talk about the quarterback between these two you want and then vote yes. Daniel Jones.
1:06:46Between these two, because I need a tiebreaker, so to speak, I will go with the larger body of work and I will go with Jared Goff to stay on. To stay on? Yeah. Okay.
1:07:01Steve Wyche:Ow! It's like the knife in my back. You're twisting a little more. As a DJ guy, I think about this year, and I come back to that. I hear what you're saying in terms of tiebreaker, like body work, but my body work is 2025. Daniel Jones is defining the position in 2025. You guys are the ones who got me off Daniel Jones with all this turnover and fumble and interception talk. Well, we just were tabling him. I truly didn't know how it was going to work out, So he felt like someone that was right on the edge, which we found out he is. But now it's come down, and there's two men. And I know who I prefer.
1:07:42Steve Wyche:I vote yes on Danny Dimes. It's not a prediction for the future. It's who's been doing it so far. And the highs, I think, have been higher than Jared. That explanation was all over the place, by the way. All of mine are. So are we voting on? Who are we voting on? Who are we voting on? You voted no on Daniel Jones. So I just decided I'm voting yes on Daniel Jones. Okay, so are we voting on Daniel Jones or Goff? I know, it's Daniel Jones. Okay, Daniel Jones. It's because Jared Goff stays on, though. I'm saying no. I'm voting yes for Daniel Jones to stay on the island. I mean, besides the 15 passing touchdowns, which was his great season with the Giants, he's got five rushing touchdowns, third leading passer in the NFL.
1:08:25Steve Wyche:Well, you know how I feel, which means the deciding vote comes down to Jordan Roderick. Now, if she voted no on Daniel Jones, that would be two to two. And we'd talk about Goff and see if he could get a clearer choice. But you know what you're doing, Jordan. I do. You are deciding who is the 10th and final member. Send it to turmoil. Send it to turmoil. Are you saying yes on Daniel Jones or no on Daniel Jones? She just shuffled her cards around and then peeked to see what was on Goff. It's like a blind poll.
1:08:57Jourdan Rodrigue:Pass me a bottle, Mr. Jones. There we go.
1:09:02Steve Wyche:Wow. Yes, Danny Dimes.
1:09:04Jourdan Rodrigue:I do believe, and it is because of this. Yes, the fumbles are a problem. Yes, the turnovers are a problem. They are with Jared Goff, too. The fumbles can be a problem with Jared Goff. The pressure can be a problem with Jared Goff. Daniel Jones is helping to define the quarterback position right now. And yes, on Daniel Jones.
1:09:20Steve Wyche:What a time. Maybe this was all reverse psychology.
1:09:23Jourdan Rodrigue:And I just want to point out, all of us have a ripcord, riptide. Whoa.
1:09:27Steve Wyche:Still available. You could take someone off if you really felt like it was necessary. Too soon. I do love that it set up that the number one thing we learned was you can't trust Colleen in a foxhole here because she turned her back. I am loyal to what my eyes see, okay? And nobody put up a fight with that vote for Jalen Hurts. So don't come at me with that, Greg. Oh, Drake May is doing so great. We can't all have Drake May in our lives.
1:09:57Jourdan Rodrigue:Do you notice how he gets a little flush to his face when he talks about Drake May? I've noticed this. He gets a twinkle in his eye. A little twinkle in his eye.
1:10:05Steve Wyche:It's been a great time on the island. A great time. With the four of you. And I've actually secured invites. We can't stay there because it's only quarterback. But we can just like go and eat at Olive Garden. I want Jameis Winston to be like the ambassador of the offseason. He's like the cruise director of Quarterback Island. Don't forget.
1:10:25Jourdan Rodrigue:Caleb Williams out there on his touchdown flip.
1:10:27Steve Wyche:He is. And yes, we're not done. Bo Nix has got flippers in the water too now. So that's it. We will have one more quarterback island this season.
1:10:39Jourdan Rodrigue:Of course I'm going to.
1:10:40Steve Wyche:That final quarterback island is going to be after week 17. It's already been put on the calendar that following Tuesday before the final regular season week. But without any further ado, the 10 men who are comprising Quarterback Island after episode three of season two. Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Sam Darnold, Drake May, Matthew Stafford, Lamar Jackson, Danny Dimes, and welcoming only one new member to the island. Congratulations to Jordan Love. Congratulations. You did it. Now you just got to go win a very difficult division. It was a pleasure, as always. Always.
1:11:28I'm loving it.
1:11:29Steve Wyche:Okay, good. No hard feelings on the backstabbing thing. Get him. Just save it. Just get him next time. Come on. We will be back on Wednesday. We have our big preview show. And, yeah, you might have noticed no TNF preview in this show. So we'll handle that on the Wednesday show. myself and Jordan and Patrick back in a few and back in a month on Quarterback Hour.
