2:08Ocho, the Steelers are hiring Mike McCarthy as their next head coach. The Steelers' owner and team president, Art Rooney II, cited McCarthy's previous accomplishments as a head coach and his ability to develop quarterbacks as a difference-making trait. The news of the Steelers' intent to hire McCarthy was met with overwhelmingly negative response from fans on social media. Rooney's response, Well, we're really not worried about winning the initial press conference. It's about picking the coach we believe will help us win games. And social media really doesn't enter into it. And none of that will matter once we start playing games.
2:40The message for our fans is we're very excited. We think we have a coach who's well-equipped to lead us into the next winning phase of Steelers football. and with that and that's what it is all about i think we're going to love coach mike ocho do you like the hire for the steelers i mean i like coach mccarthy in general i mean everywhere everywhere he's gone he's had he's had some some success he's had sex success with the cowboys but never did get them to the promised land like he would wanted to he had success he was with green bay never did get them to the promised land like he wanted he won with aaron rogers i mean he did he He won with Aaron Rodgers that one year.
3:18So, I mean, that's why I said he's had success on the places he's gone. I like the hire. But again, what are we doing? What are we doing with the quarterback situation? I read somewhere I saw something about he likes what he sees from Will Howard. No disrespect to Brother Howard. I don't think he's the answer for the future. I'm just saying. And me and knowing and watching quarterbacks over the years that I've not only played but watched this game in general and knows what it takes to be a quarterback in the NFL. I don't think he's the answer. Maybe I could be wrong. Maybe he can prove me wrong.
3:50But if he was the answer, I'm sure they wouldn't have had to bring in a 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers. Maybe this is an inclination in bringing Aaron Rodgers back so they can have that one more shot at it again. Being that they're familiar with each other, Aaron Rodgers and Coach McCarthy. But again, I mean, the hire is good as the coach that is used to winning. He's won before. But again, until you fix that situation at the quarterback position, it's just going to be the same thing. I look at it like this, Ocho. The man had Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Dak Prescott. 18 years. He's had exemplary quarterback play.
4:31He's got one Super Bowl to show for it. He got three guys that's won seven MVPs. He got one Super Bowl to show for it. Look at all the receipts. Look at all the great players that he's coached. Look at what he had. When he had Jermichael Finley, when he had Donald Driver, and he had Greg Jennings, and he had the white kid, the young man. Jordy Nelson. Eric Deck. Randall Cobb, James Johnson. Look at what he had in Dallas. Look at all the players that he had. So Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, Dak Prescott, Zeke Elliott, all those guys, what he's had. He got one Super Bowl to show for it. I got a question though.
5:17When we break it down, right? And coaches that are available for these positions. I mean, who else would you hire though? You think about it. Especially if we're going to bring up the resumes of what these coaches have done in the past. The only hire where people would be accepting of what they've done in the past based on resume and accolades would be that of Bill Belichick. And he's not walking through that door. to become Coastal Steelers. I think the people, you know, from talking around the league, they don't think he, you know, they don't think he can win without Tom Brady. They don't know how well he relates to the modern-day player.
5:57Right. I know people say Brian Flores. I mean, I'm just saying. Guys, let me ask you this. If a guy was suing your company or the company you're affiliated with, will you hire him? You know Brian Flores had a lawsuit pending against the NFL, right? Oh, so did we know that? Or did we forget? I think a lot of people might have forgot that. Well, let me first remember. He has a pending lawsuit against the NFL. The cough drop.
6:38Hey, you know what? I think people have been spoiled too. People have been spoiled by watching the Patriots over the years. Super Bowl always being in attention. I think people have been spoiled by the goddamn Eagles and the success that they had as of late. Obviously not this year. I think people have been spoiled by the Chiefs and the success that they've always had with Patrick Mahomes. Not really understanding how difficult it is to consistently win or how difficult it is to actually reach a Super Bowl. and seeing these teams go in a short amount of time over and over, they think it's attainable every single year.
7:15Well, you get guys like Brady and Mahomes that make it look so routine. People think, well, why can't everybody do that? No, it's not easy. What Tom Brady did for two decades is not easy. What Patrick Mahomes has done in 10 years, get to five Super Bowls and win three is not easy. That's crazy when you think about it. That's crazy.
7:43Damn. Y 'all can be talking all you want to. I'm just saying real. I'm just asking you, chat. So if somebody is going to sue your company, the company that you work for, would you hire said individual?
8:01Why do you think you ain't nobody called John Gruen, don't you? John Gruen got a lawsuit. John would be a nice one. John is a good players coach that a lot of players love. Y 'all don't think the Shield is the Shield. No, the Shield is the 32 owners. And if they lose this case, 32 owners are going to have to pay.
8:24I'm... Hey, man, I got a goddamn fly in the house, man. Why do I hate the Steelers? I'm trying to figure out why I hate the Steelers. the hate days for the Steelers is long long gone long long long long long gone yeah I mean I've never hated the Steelers well you had to if you if you played for the Ravens you had no choice yeah yeah yeah I mean but when you look at the coaching I mean who else you think about it if it wasn't Mike McCarthy then who I mean I think fans would have been upset. I hate that Clint Kubiak is going, I sure wish Clint could have gotten that job at Baltimore. But I think the thinking.
9:09What? Oh, Baltimore? Yes. In Baltimore? I think that, can you imagine? You see how he dialed it up? I'm thinking that Steve Bishotti is thinking, well, I have Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson has won two MVPs in two different systems. So it doesn't matter who's coaching him on offense. He's going to be great. I need somebody to fix this broken down defense I'm thinking that's how that's how Steve Bichotti is thinking I could be right but that's what I'm thinking and I think that's why he went defense instead of offense and I
9:48and I want Clint to get a job so bad but man if he go to the Raiders he ain't got no quarterback why would you think he'd take that job why would anybody take the Raiders or the Browns job I'm not going to the Browns outside of the chance I don't listen these situations the opportunities don't present themselves often so I'm going to take the job knowing I'm only be there for two or three years true for what I guess I guess they're looking at like you know what they're going to get the number one pick the Raiders they'll take Mendoza and Clint can work his magic with that I'm thinking that's what they're thinking Ocho I'm being honest I'm thinking that's what they're thinking I would take I would take the Raiders job only if we're taking Mendoza yes and we get number three from Dallas and bring it on over there to pair with Brock Bowers and Trey Tucker that's it now if that's not happening I'm good boy DK probably kicking himself why the Steelers the team he just left going to the Super Bowl what you mean why can you imagine you go to New England and Cincinnati go to the Super Bowl boy you would have lost your damn mind.
11:01Well, actually, it was the opposite way. I left Cincinnati when it was the Super Bowl. But you already told me how you felt. You didn't feel a part of that. You were a bingo. I did. I didn't. I'm always a bingo. That's what I'm saying. So imagine the bingo go to the Super Bowl. Yeah. I would have got a ring. Shit me, they would have gave me one. I would have got one. I would have got one made. Art Rooney II said on Steelers head coaching search, we wound up bringing three guys in for in-person interviews, Brian Flores, Mike McCarthy, and Anthony Weaver. And then we sat down and talked about whether we had our man.
11:34If we wanted to bring more people in for in-person interviews, we decided that Mike was the man for the job. So we went ahead and offered him the job on Saturday.
11:46The Rooney Rule, they brought three coaches in. Two are African-Americans. The Rooney Rule is named after them, which means minorities get an opportunity. They did it. They hired Mike Tomlin. Now they interviewed others. Okay, they felt that Mike McCarthy was the best for the job. Two guys are defensive guys, and they said, we want somebody that can develop a quarterback. We have yet to develop a quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger, but they had Ken Wisenhunt and they had Bruce Arians.
12:31I hope it works
12:40I told you you should have put your name in the hat for one of your coaching jobs you would have got picked up quick I don't want no part of that because I don't want people because people already criticizing Mike McDonald because he says he sees a kid about 30 minutes a week. And everybody's like, that ain't no flex, that ain't no flex. Well, tell me the coach. Tell me the coach. Every coach always says the same thing. The kid, you know, and you know what you sign up for when you marry a coach. You know he's not going to be around like a regular guy on a nine-to-five. So the wives or girlfriends or whomever is accepting of that.
13:17Every coach that I know, burn the midnight oil. Yeah, always. blankets and pillows in the rooms blankets and pillows in all the coaches offices because of the time spent game planning watching film preparing the cue cards for the next day I mean so hearing that I saw the clip too I want to know how much time you think the coach actually spends Ocho he actually spends at home during the season a little bit of none a little bit of none because some nights you don't even go home if they wasn't going home back then I know damn well they're not going home now simply because of the preparation it takes to prepare for a game week to week especially as a game games like this where it matters even more it's a it's a thing don't you maybe I listen maybe I'm going to be here all week, baby.
14:22I'm not going to see you. You and the kids can come on and stop by though. Yeah. That's probably what happened. They probably might have dinner in his office. Yeah. But I don't have no problem with it. Now look where they are now. Because of the time he's put into work. If they win the Super Bowl, you get to make up all that time you missed during those six months. You understand what you signed up for depending on who you date or who you marry. I want to know the guy.
14:54that makes that kind of money and he works a nine to five. So tell me, that's the job I want now. Tell me the guy that works nine to five, Ocho, he works a normal hour and make that kind of money. Yeah, how much you make? How much we talking? What coaches make? Somewhere between 10 and$20 million a year. Oh, and a nine to five? so that's six months out of the year nine to five six months twenty million a year eleven twenty million a year so that's my calculator that's about okay carry the one yeah uncle ain't nothing out there like that of course not not no nine to five but when you when you do sports it's just like the reporters do y 'all hey y 'all miss deadlines y 'all make it seem like y 'all be there for every event for y 'all kids who was that's a sport I'm trying to figure out I want to know the guy that every recital every PTA every game everything that they were there for even the most doting and loving dad I want to know the one that if he played a professional sport if he was a coach that he was there for everything that the kids did like a father that's at a 9 to 5
16:23I want to know because normally when you get into these jobs you already know what comes along with it the same thing I tell people when they talk about I want to do this or I want to be in sports you okay working weekends I don't mind working weekends what about holidays man you know this ain't for you I don't know if you noticed they play sports on holidays are you okay with not spending a holiday with your family
16:52oh okay find something that allow you to spend holidays and weekends with your family this ain't for you sports not for you
17:06I mean I obviously those I mean for for the average person on that's probably not used to it, maybe doesn't understand when it comes to the sacrifice that comes into not only being a player but being a coach, they probably won't understand it. They probably won't understand it. There's no explanation that can be given where they will understand it. They just won't. What it commands, the sacrifice it takes, for one, to have the success that coaches had this year. No, I just – I can tell people talking about it's just football. I can tell people that's never played anything. You got the 9 to 5. Who said it's just football?
17:49Somebody said that? It is. Do you? No, it's – To people that play in the 9 for them. But like I said, I want y 'all to tell – That's how you pay your bills. I want them to tell me the guy that was a professional athlete or coach that was at every event for the child growing up. So they made all the PTAs. They made all the recitals. They made all the practices. They made everything. You can't. Because guess what? There are some guys that work 9 to 5 and can't make it because they got to pull overtime. time. Y 'all say anything to try to get and we got so many sheep that just fall. Yeah, you right.
18:36That ain't no flex. That man chose this. And to be great, you got to put it. If all you do is work nine to five and you will not be great as what you're as a professional athlete or coach. Now you can work a nine to five and be great at your job working 40 hours a week. To each his own. I don't begrudge anybody because I worked a nine to five. Well, it was more than nine to five, more like seven to seven. But anyway, you get the idea. Same. But for me, I wanted more. I didn't want, and there's nothing wrong with that, but I didn't want with a nine to five because I couldn't provide for my family with that.
19:19My grandmother had worked long, hard enough. My grandma had slept on that terrible mattress long enough. It lived in that house long enough. That wasn't enough for me and my brother. And this is the type of shit that pisses me off. Somebody in the chat. So now we glorifying absent fathers. So everything we're saying is just going over the head. Yeah. Hold on. There are a lot of fathers that don't, that's not a professional athlete that's not there. Ain't nobody glorifying no absentee father. You just understand there are certain occupations. Are we not listening? That's a part of it. are we not listening?
20:00You just explained it in depth. How it is for those that are part of certain worlds and certain occupations and certain jobs. It comes with what you do. Well, be a stay-at-home dad.
20:21You late to the show, bro. We already talked about the Broncos losing. You late to the show. Yo, bro, we're an hour to have, we're 90 minutes into the show. You talking about, oh, we're talking about the Broncos losing. Oh, yo, we just spent 35 minutes talking about the Broncos losing. The Bills promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady as the next head coach earlier this week. The decision to fire Sean McDermott and elevate Brady rather than clean house is now under heavy scrutiny. Ocho, are you confident that Joe Brady is the guy? I mean, what's the goddamn difference? He was already there. Hell, you might as well have kept Mr.
21:00McDermott. Joe, that don't make no sense to me. If you a head coach and someone that's under you, you know, I mean, if you fire McDermott, why the hell everybody else ain't fire? They want a different voice in there, Ocho. Man, come on now. Man, come on now. I don't understand how Brandon Bean kept his job. Who was that, the GM? Yeah, I don't know how he kept his job. That's what I need somebody to help me explain that to me. Because it seemed like Sean McDermott caught all the criticism. And I get it, you know, Mr. Magula, you know, he's supporting his GM because he gave him more title. But those four layers, I think, you know, he wanted to put, what's the key on Coleman?
21:46He put that in the lap of Sean McDermott. Yeah. I just. That's crazy. A new voice. That's the same voice he's heard. Look, I think Joe Brady did a phenomenal job. Yes, sir. I think the thing is, Ocho, is that Sean McDermott, you know, his defense, they've been one of the top offenses, but defensively it's kind of where they falter. Yeah. And that's his level of expertise. Remember, they fired Leslie Frazier. Yes. Yeah. Leslie Frazier was our D coordinator in Cincinnati too, huh? Yeah, Leslie Frazier. Coach Frazier. So, what do you think? Super Bowl or bust this year, Ocho? For the Bills? I mean, well, hell, that was supposed to be this year, huh?
22:45This year, this was the easiest route for him. You ain't had to deal with three of three of the better players out of the AFC. you know so maybe next year maybe next year is a little different maybe he can run the gauntlet he can beat Mahomes he can beat Burrow he can beat Lamar Jackson we don't know we don't know what next year is going to look like but hell man what the Bills need a receiver a one
23:16they got a one I think the thing is there's too many turnovers This was on Josh. This was on Josh. Because Josh is really good in the postseason, Joe. He hadn't had a turnover in season playoff games. He picked the worst time to have the most turnovers he's had in a very long time. It's hard to win on the road with five turnovers, and four of them is at the hand of your quarterback. Now, guys fumbling and stuff like that, ain't really a whole lot you can do about that. But this was on Josh's watch. So it's tough. I agree. And, you know, Sean McDermott, I know Sean McDermott, Ocho and I was talking about, look, this grandstanding, he knew he couldn't challenge that.
23:56He knew that call, what it was, and he knew the, you know, you got to survive the ground. But he knew they probably had, if they didn't flat out tell him they had probably alluded to, you're going to need to get to the Super Bowl in order to stay in the job. He probably knew that. Oh, I knew. I talked about this. Ocho, you laughed at me because I told you in October. He's like, you think Brother McDermott? I said, oh, yeah, absolutely. Yeah, you did say he was out of there if they didn't win. What I tell you about the Steelers and the Ravens,
24:36the coaching situation. Harbaugh. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. New voice. New voice. You said it. Loud and clear. Hell, Harbaugh been there for a minute. 18 and he's been there 18 years and Tomlin has been there 19.

27:00The Browns. Ochoa have hired former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Munkin to be their next head coach. Coach Munkin, who has spent the last three seasons in Baltimore, will become the Cleveland's 11th full-time coach since returning to the NFL in 1999. In Munkin's first season with the Ravens, he helped Lamar Jackson win his second MVP in 2023. Despite the great success in 2023 and 2024 with Munkin as Ravens OC, as Lamar OC Munkin had chemistry issues during the previous season as reported by team sources. Munkin demanding coaching style clash with Lamar's preference. Ocho, how do you see Todd Munkin handling the battle between Shadour and Deshaun if he couldn't deal with Lamar?
27:52Well, listen, he's had some success with Lamar. It doesn't matter who's coaching Lamar. Lamar is going to be who Lamar is. Joe, you can go out there and coach Lamar. He's going to be the exact player he's always been. And he's going to be that two-time MVP type player that can change the dynamic of a game at any point. Todd Munkin is going to have to get in his bag over there in Cleveland. He'll do more than that. He's going to have to get in his bag as an offensive coordinator and have a plan. I'm not sure what that plan is going to be. I'm not sure who you're going to go with, whether it's Deshaun Watson, whether it's Dylan Gabriel, or whether it's Shadour Sanders.
28:25But he's going to have to find and find out very quick who's going to be quarterback number one in this team. and after that then you figure out what you're going to do in the other surrounding areas offensively where you need help and they're going to need a lot of help I have no problem with the hire itself he's had success obviously with Lamar but there is no Lamar Jackson in Cleveland there is no Lamar Jackson in Cleveland therefore everything Todd Munkin has to provide to help those quarterbacks he's going to have to be in his bag he got to be in it. Remember he won two national championships with Stetson Bennett as a quarterback at the University of Georgia.
29:08Hold on now. Wait a minute. Stetson Bennett as his quarterback on a Georgia team that was loaded on goddamn defense. Now he has he's going back to a team where they're loaded on defense. Now the Achilles heel for the Cleveland Browns has always been on offense. If you can get that offense on point just meet him meet him halfway on just maybe somewhere Joe in the middle of the pack. He ain't got to be top five. He ain't got to be top five. Just meet us half goddamn way, please. They got some promising young talent, though, Uncle Ocho. Please or do. Hey, hey, hey, hey, what's the tight end name?
29:41Fanny. Oh, Fanny. Boy, that - Harold Fanny Jr. Damn it. Hey, that young boy, hey, that young boy there? Boy, hey, Joe, he is the real deal. Yes, sir. He's the real - And speaking of Cleveland Browns, if I see Myles Garrett anywhere in Santa Clara, yeah, he got to see me. What, he gave your jersey away? Joe, he sent the jersey to the Hall of Fame instead of getting it to me, knowing I asked for it first. Man, we told you he was going to do that. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, I'm finna molly whopping, Joe. I'm finna molly whopping. Hey, Ocho, Ocho, leave that loan, let that go. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. You don't disrespect me like that.
30:24You told me you was going to give me the jersey. So that means you're supposed to be a man of your word and give me the jersey. I don't care who asked for it. If I ask first and you say yes, now I got to whoop your ass. Well, I don't think he going to be ducking on smoke. Yeah, but he ain't got to duck. He ain't got to duck. He ain't got to duck. He going to get what he looking for. Okay. He think he had 23 sacks. He's going to be 24 when I get down with him. Oh, okay. I think the thing is, for me, Ocho, let me know what you think, Joe. I think it'll be easy. It's hard to coach superstar quarterbacks.
30:54It's hard. It ain't easy. Ask anybody that's ever had to coach him. You think it's easy coaching Don Brady? It makes your job easy, but they're going to need to know. They need to know what you're telling them is legit. They got questions. They're going to need you to give them answers. Not when I get back to you. No, you better know the answer.
31:17It's not easy coaching these guys now. Because these guys are brainy guys. I mean, you talk about Lamar and Lamar. like Lamar like hold on who you who you yelling who you think you're talking to and I'm so glad you just mentioned that too with how hard it is to coach quarterbacks and I'm not sure if you've seen the clip Joe uh I'm sure you saw the clip I know you've seen it before but goddamn Bill O 'Brien and Tom going at it on the sideline yeah Brady going down the sideline chat I don't know if you guys have seen that clip you know so if they went at it like that on the sideline what you think happened in practice oh yeah hey joe one of the greatest times of my life being a new england patriot is goddamn bill o 'brien and tom brady going at it in practice for about five minutes straight i'm talking about you think i'd be messing up cursing on here sometimes oh tom will curse now hey hey um joe i was sitting there smiling ear to ear I'm like, oh, what are they really going at?
32:18Like, cuss his ass out, Tom. Hey, I'm like, oh, this is how it is. No one of these dudes win all the goddamn time. Everything got to be right, Joe. Yeah. Everything has to be perfect. If it's not perfect, you're doing it over. And you're not doing the play over. You're starting the whole period over and doing it again. That's what was expected of everybody, especially offensively. So when things didn't go right, Tom got on Bill. When things didn't go right, Bill got on Tom. And they kept that standard no matter what. And it helped me understand, well, goddamn, no wonder they went all the goddamn time.
32:58And, dog, Unk, I wish you could have been there to see that, Unk. I ain't never in the history of all the times I played the game of football ever seen a quarterback and a coach go at it like that. But it was awesome. And from that point on, the rest of practice, immaculate. Oh, you gotta have a standard. Not one mistake, not one drop ball, no nothing. It just, everything went smooth. We went out there, I forgot who we played that week. Man, we put up back there in that 40 points, Joe. Put a band up 40 points. Oh, that's a year we went to the Super Bowl, Joe. Yeah, we went to the Super Bowl that year.
33:35There has to be a level of expectation. Who y 'all lost to that year, old Joe? The Giants. man. Oh, yeah. Eli. Yeah, Eli caught, was that Manningham? Mario Manningham on the sideline and gets covered too. Yeah, on the sideline. He dropped it in the bucket, Ocho. He dropped it in the bucket. That was a beautiful throw. That was a beautiful throw. Yeah, that's what, look, you know, being around John and being around Mike because Mike was like that. For real?
34:05You might get away if you drop one in a team period. Drop two, start it over.
34:15I was like, Lord, please do. All I'm saying, I don't want to be the one. Right. Man, boy, look here. Mike was hell, man. There's a... When I say he said, don't accept anything in a win, you wouldn't have lost? Yeah, he meant that. Yeah, he had to get it. I mean, run, catch any pass. I don't give a damn if it was a down flat. You finish in 40 yards. 40. Yeah. And come back. And they got to run back. Yeah.
34:58But then you're like, okay, now I understand why we do it. You get a greater appreciation for why you do things. And you see, okay, so this is why the 49ers have success. Because they were like the Patriots in the 80s. Yes. You're like, okay, now I see. Now I see. Whew. Browns defense coordinator Jim Swartz might be out of the door after the team hired Munkin as his head coach, according to Tom Pelissero. Pelissero reported that Swartz, who was one of the three finalists, was visibly upset and said goodbyes in the building and told other coaches he's not coming back, opposing teams are reportedly ready to pounce if he leaves also Miles Garrett just posted on IG
35:52that's bro sitting down like damn hey Joe you see that lady that work at Popeye see how she look that's just how I'm finna have Miles looking when I catch up to him out there in Santa Clara just like that Miles like man just got me a unanimous defensive player of the year I was playing good with this man and this is what y 'all do hey hey um come on now you know man listen anybody you could have been coaching that Browns defense Miles Garrett still would have got them 23 sacks he still would have been an all pro and matter of fact even if Mr. Schwartz is leaving whoever comes in to take over that goddamn defense you got the pieces and the personnel where you gonna be alright man You got the pieces and the personnel where you gonna be alright.
36:41That was the top five defense all season long, man. Right. Joe, they ain't shabby at all. Yeah, nah, I checked them out a few times, though, Joe. They did their thing. They good defensively. They good defensively. Very good. They just need some pieces offensively. They need a wide receiver. They need offensive line help. I'm thinking Joku's gonna leave so we'll get another tight end. Do you really? Yeah, Joku's gonna leave. Yeah. Yeah. That's why they got Fanny then. It don't hurt to have two of them, Joe. You can find you winning the fourth or fifth round. Hey, Fanny nice. Oh, I like him. I like him.
37:17I like him a lot. He nice. You thinking Joku going to require too much money? They're going to move. Like you said, they got Fanny. So, you know, we go draft a tight end. We get him on a low number. Run a lot of double tight end sets. Yeah. Look at the Patriots. They got Hooper and they got Hunter Henry. You look at the Bills. Team, you know, it definitely helps. 39:48The Baltimore Ravens are hiring Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as their next head coach. Yeah. As the reports, Minter is signing a five-year deal, a five-year contract. In fact, Mentor was immediately viewed as one of the favorites for the position and was an assistant under John Harbaugh in Baltimore from 2017 to 2020. Ochoa, the Ravens' defense hasn't lived up to the standard of hard-nosed defense. We expect them, Baltimore. Was this a safe pick for the Ravens or was it the right pick for the Ravens? It's the right pick for someone that's already been around there that knows what it's like to play like a Raven, of Raven, understanding that moniker, understanding the rich history in which those defenses have always played with since the early 2000s, trying to bring that back, trying to bring that culture back of defensive players creating a certain atmosphere.
40:40When you come to play the goddamn Ravens, bring two chin straps. That's what it was like during our time. Bring two chin straps because it's going to be a game of straight physicality, being able to dominate on the defensive end. obviously had Lamar Jackson in the offense and what they're able to do, but they need to bring their identity back and being the Ravens of old. Even though we're in 2026, this is the right coach to be able to do that. He knows defense. He understands that he has a defensive mind. And obviously there are going to be some changes that are made. They need to obviously address the issues on that front end because, hell, you got Marlon Humphrey, you got brother Wiggins.
41:18if I was running routes for eight seconds, I'd be able to get open too because they ain't putting no pressure on no goddamn body. But I think he was the right coach. He wasn't a safe one. He was the right one. So I'm hoping he does that team justice, that organization justice, and get the Ravens back to what we're used to seeing them on the defensive end. You know, when you say play like a Raven and the defense used to be, you know, Ray Lewis, Hall of Famer, ain't coming through that door. Ed Reed, Hall of Famer, ain't coming through that door. Former Defensive Player of the Year and Future Hall of Famer, Terrell Suggs, ain't coming through that door.
41:55Lodi Nata, not coming through that door. They don't have the same level of defensive talent that they once had. And I think that's where it starts, and you mentioned up front. I think they need edge players. They need somebody that can get to the quarterback. And they haven't had that in a while. Now, Calvin Orton turned back the hands of time two years ago and had a career year. But to expect him to be that when he's only been that one time in his 10, 11-year career, I think you're asking a bit much. The guy they traded to the Chargers, he leaves the Ravens, has zero sacks, goes to the Chargers, has seven and a half in about six weeks.
42:36Yeah. So I don't know if it was scheme. I don't know if he was unhappy. I don't know what it was. But he looked like a different player. Yes. And with the charges that he did, now obviously he got better players around him. He got Khalil Mack. He got the Samoan sensation. They got guys that can float. They got fast-ass linebacker with Perriman and Henley. They got Derwin James, who's basically Kyle Hamilton, Derwin James. Okay, I can see that. But my only question is, okay, you get a defense in mind. Steve Bichotte is familiar with him. He's been in the building for about four years. He left and he came back.
43:13who are you going to get as an offensive coordinator? That's important. That is the most important thing. Now, Lamar said he wanted Clint – he liked Clint Kubiak. He loved the way he attacked the field. He loved how he always stresses the defense. They didn't hire him. Now, he's not leaving Seattle for a lateral move to go to Baltimore. So, I just don't know who they're going to get as an offensive coordinator. Right, right. But they definitely need some players, Ocho. They've got to get – they've got to get – Hold on. I don't like when you say it like that. You said they need some players. They don't need just some players.
43:46There are a lot of players to go. They need a hold. They need impact players, impact players at specific positions, the first level and the second level, first level and the second level. I'm not sure who you can get that can, that can play the nine technique. I'm not sure you can get at the, at the middle backup position because sometimes Roquan Smith gets exposed on passing down because that's not what he does. He's not good at that. Roquan Smith is a very, very good linebacker. I think he would have been much better during our era. Yes. He would have been much better during our era. So, I mean, listen, I like him, but they need improvement.
44:24Tremendous improvement, you know? And this is – I'm not biased because I'm a Bengal fan. I've watched the Ravens, you know, in depth and watching them play, and I know what improvements they need to make defensively for them to get back to where they need to get to. They got to meet the offense halfway. Just halfway. Because they were at the bottom of the league, most of the goddamn season, even though they got better as the season went on. Well, I mean, I would hope they couldn't get worse. I think the thing is that, like, when you have that level of defense and what the Ravens fans are used to, they had Ray Lewis for 17 years.
44:59They had Suggs for, like, 13, 14 years. They had Ed Reed for over a decade. You had Haloti Nada. They're used to the Rod Woodson and all those guys that were there that started this. they're used to that level of play. And they're not – look, you're probably not – there's a less than 0.5 % chance that you'll find another Ray Lewis or an Ed Reed. You talk about two of the greatest players to ever play this game in 100-plus year history. So let's just set that to the side. But I think you can get some players that are better – that can do – that can perform at a level that are better than what they performed at.
45:35That's unacceptable. That's unacceptable. Now, I hope Lamar comes back healthy. He had a short season. He didn't make the playoffs. So hopefully he gets those hamstrings healed up. He's ready to come back. But I'm really anxious to see who's the offensive coordinator and what type of system they're going to run. Because that is the most important thing. Lamar Jackson is your most valuable asset. The best thing you can do is put him in the best possible situation for him to succeed. That gives you the best chance of winning. Now, once you get that lead, Ocho, having a sustainable defense, because think about all those leads that they had.
46:18Remember they had a 15-point lead and they ended up losing to Buffalo. Think about all the leads. They had a lead to the Patriots and lost that one. So we see a reoccurring theme, especially over the last two years, that get the lead but unable to hold the lead. Hold the lead, yeah. And so the offensive coordinator is going to be very, very – I thought they would go an offensive route because they went special teams route and John Harbaugh, they hit it out the park. You couldn't ask for anything. They got 18 years out of them, a Super Bowl, many division titles, and some playoffs. And so with Lamar Jackson, I thought they would probably go offense and give him something.
46:53But the offensive coordinator is going to be the most important thing. Who do you get to coordinate that offense that can be most beneficial to Lamar that receiving core and you got Derrick Henry. What type of offense are you going to run, Ocho? What are you going to do? That's the most important thing. Yeah, most definitely. And you know what? Also, I wouldn't mind adding another receiver. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yes, absolutely. I'm talking about an outside guy. We know they can play on the outside, but he's more of a slot guy. He can dominate the intermediate and short routes. Yeah, he's small. Yeah, I would love someone on the outside that's a dog, that's young, maybe a little bit right outside their prime, but still good enough to take over a goddamn game at any point.
47:45I'm trying to solo, oh, Joe.
47:53Yeah, it's just hard. I mean, you got to be really, really special to be that size and be play outside. I mean, there are not a whole lot of 5 '9 guys. I mean, you talk about a Steve Smith or you talk about a Tyreek Hill. You talk about guys with exceptional. Tyreek had just God gifts, natural speed. Steve Smith was just flat out. He played with a different type of mentality. Mentality, yeah. So, I mean, and to be outside, to play outside them numbers and to be that boy, you got to really be that boy.
48:29But I'm really anxious. I'm happy for the Ravens. We're going to see what they do in that division. Joe Burrow's there. We don't know what's going to happen with Aaron Rodgers. Does he come back to the Steelers? Does he move on? I don't know if he's going to want to come back. 41, pushing about to be 42. Right. And he's not pushing the ball down the field. And when you don't push the ball down the field, because in order to push the ball down the field, Ocho, you got to take some licks. Yeah. And when you get old, you don't like it. Think about it. As you get older, you don't want to fall. You don't want to do anything.
49:01You become very, very careful. It's hard to be careful on the football field, Ojo. It is. It is. It is. And matter of fact, in wanting to take the shots down the field, it makes it very, very difficult when you only got one person that you can use to do that. And we saw that with the absence of DK Metcalf. Correct. The offense got them. You know, it stalled in a sense because there was no one that could take the top off the coverage. Correct. And you got the damn near go 11, 12, 14 play drive. Yep, you're right. Mm-hmm. You do. So the next question, who do they hire as an offensive coordinator?
49:38And I wonder if they – Steve Bishotti, you know, like, hey, basically, and I'm paraphrasing here, said Lamar does have some power, but he doesn't have as much as me. Mm-hmm. So, yeah, I will take – I will listen. I will take some advice, but the final decision comes down to what do I want. Yeah, sounds good. It sounds good. I was hoping to get an offensive guy. I'm talking about one of these offensive gurus. I was really hoping that Ocho, but hey, Steve, know what he would look for. Obviously, he saw something when the guy was there, and he saw something. Yeah. I think Rashadi also understands that we need to get a defensive mind in here to help us with this goddamn defense.
50:23We need somebody to help us with this goddamn defense and get us back to a respect level that we used to have defensively. The offense is going to take care of itself. Lamar, a healthy Lamar, is going to be able to take care of itself. Regardless of who we bring in there to run our offense, we're going to be fine because we have one of the best three, five quarterbacks in the NFL. We're going to be all right in that area. But that goddamn defense, being as bad as they were at the beginning of the season, man, we ain't going to be deadly squat. We couldn't be the sisters of the north with that damn defense they had.
50:55I think the thing is, and because Lamar Jackson has won an MVP with Greg Roman. He's won an MVP with Todd Munkin. Steve probably thinking, hell, we can get anybody here. That's Lamar Jackson. He's that special. Bingo. And I really do, Ocho. And that's not to be dismissive of anyone because I think it takes a little something. I mean, that says something. But Greg Roman has coordinated a Super Bowl offense. Remember, he had Cap. Yeah. He was the OC. when Cap went to the Super Bowl and there was a throwaway in the end zone from being a Super Bowl champ. So Greg Roman, I mean, you look, his offense is a little mundane sometimes.
51:39Yes. I thought Todd Munkin did a very good job with Lamar. Given this year Lamar was not healthy, but I thought he did a great job. Yeah. But, I mean, now he's with the Giants and, you know, he has scattered. It looked like he's going to have, you know, be with John and the Giants and they got Scattaboo and they got Malik Nabors if he comes back healthy. And I think Wandel Robinson will be there. I'd like to tie that. I forget his name. But I think they have – and Jackson Dart, I think he could do – because, look, he was two-time national championship winning offensive coordinator with the Georgia Bulldogs and what he did with Stetson Bennett, who was two-time offensive most outstanding player in a national championship game.
52:23Yeah. So the Baltimore Ravens hired Jesse Minter, the former defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers to be the next head coach. And if he can have a tenure similar to John Harbaugh, Steve, you've done it again. You've done it again, yeah. Ocho, the chat wants to know where you got that T-shirt from. Oh, this shirt? Hey, for those in the chat, i'm sure you're probably laughing at it because all the colors but um if you have your phones on your hand you can google this is the legendary the iconic mexican goalkeeper by the name of george campos that's j-o-r-g-e campos you know you worry yeah yeah or jorge or ge however you want to say it but he i'm talking about a legend a true a true legendary goalkeeper from mexico he sent me He sent me this jersey.
53:19It's signed on the back. So I'm wearing it tonight. Obviously, I'm going to be wearing vintage and current and 80s, 70s soccer jerseys from now on for the rest of the time. So you're always going to see stuff that looks kind of weird that's from back in the days. But if there's anybody in the chat that's Mexican, obviously, you know who George Campos is. For those of you that don't, you can Google him. and when he pops up, you'll see all his shirt and his attire was always very flashy, like Liberace. Very colorful. Yeah, very colorful, yeah. Coach O, Clint Cooley at will reportedly be one task to turning around the Las Vegas Raiders.
53:59According to Adam Schefter, after meeting Saturday with Las Vegas and Arizona, Seahawks offensive coordinator intends to try to work out a deal to become the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. No deal can be finalized after the Super Bowl, but Clint wants to coach the Raiders, and they want him to be their head coach. Now it's only a matter of time before the two sides can formalize a deal. It seems to be the going rate is somewhere between five and seven years. You're probably looking at somewhere between$8 and$12 million. Yeah, the Kubiak would be$12, but okay. Yeah. You like, you like, because if I'm not mistaken, and then the Cardinals already had the Cardinals hired Mike LeFleur, right?
54:42Yep. Mr. Fleur got hired. But so you like this Clint Kubiak. I mean, I love Clint Kubiak to the Raiders, but the whole problem is the players. It's the situation. It's the quarterback. I mean, the uncertainty. Obviously, you know, Mendoza's probably going to be the first one taken, but you need more pieces than just that, especially where Kubiak is coming from. It's easy for you to be able to do your job based on where you are because of what you have with your personnel. fail. It makes your job and calling players or even being a head coach now coming to Las Vegas, it makes it very easy. But you're going to need those pieces that make your job easy.
55:15That's the only problem. That's the only issue I see. Obviously, Mendoza is going to be the first quarterback taken. The Raiders aren't passing on him. What are you going to do with Matt Crosby? Are you going to let Matt Crosby go so you can get some value back from him and put some other pieces around you on offense or maybe on defense? There's so many pieces or so many so many holes that need to be filled in Las Vegas before you can be a team that can compete in that division, let alone in the goddamn league. It's so many answers that need to be answered. I love the hire. I love the coach that you're getting.
55:49But what does he have to work with? That's the only issue. I like it because they're probably going to have an ish ton of money to spend. The cap is going up$22,$25 million. they were probably already under the cap. So you get Mendoza and I don't have to give up. All I have to do is sign him. I don't have to give up draft capital. Now in free agency, I can plug some things in. I'm going to need a receiver. Is there potential that I can trade for A.J. Brown? Is there a potential that there's a receiver on the mark? I'm just throwing out scenarios. I already told you where receiver's going now and it make the most sense because he's every bit of what a Raider is.
56:30But go ahead. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, and so I think they're probably going to have$70 million, $80 million in cap space. The question is, and you posed a very good question and we've been talking about it, what do you do with Crosby? Do I trade him and get the draft capital or do I keep him?
56:56That's the question, Ocho. I mean, allow him to go somewhere where he can contend. That's what I say.
57:10Yeah, well, I'm sure somebody said Max Crosby to the Ravens for Bateman in the first rounder. I'm sure the Ravens would jump on that with both feet. That's a good one. I like that. I think it's going to take more than Bateman in the first round to get Max Crosby from the Raiders. Yeah, he's right.
57:38But like I said, I've known Clint basically his whole life. He used to shag balls for when he was a – I mean, shit, he couldn't have been no more than – in the mid-90s, he couldn't have been no more than 9, 10. And maybe when I left and I came back, he was probably 13. So, and to see, it's always funny to see these kids, Ochoa, to see them, to see Christian McCaffrey, to see where he came in, because he was a little kid sitting on my lap at the Super Bowl, Super Bowl 33. And now to see that he's one of the best players in the NFL. To see Clint Kubiak, to see Kyle Shanahan, when he used to hold a cord for his dad, I'm like, damn.
58:24Well, one, I'm old. Two, it's good to see those guys and what they've become. That's great. But I do agree with you, Ocho. I do like this hire. But at the end of the day, it comes down to you can have the greatest scheme ever, but you better have somebody to be able to play in that scheme. That's the issue. That's the only issue. You got to have the right players at the right positions, and everything flows smoothly. Cardinals made it official on Sunday, announcing they have agreed to a five-year contract extension with Mike LaFleur. LaFleur replaces Jonathan Gannon as the team's new head coach.
59:01LaFleur served as the Rams' offensive coordinator for the past three seasons. While he didn't call plays for head coach Sean Payton, LaFleur did gain play-calling experience in two seasons as the Jets' offensive coordinator. Ocho, you like this time. I like it. One issue. Quarterback. What are we doing at the quarterback position? Receivers, Marvin Harrison Jr. Can we get him back on track? Mike Wilson. Mike Wilson. Yeah, Mike Wilson. But listen, he showed up. He showed up and showed up. Okay, okay. Can we get Marvin Harrison Jr. back to playing like we know he can play, especially what we saw at Ohio State?
59:44Can we get his confidence back? Brother Wilson is the real deal. He is the real deal. The only issue is, what are we going to do at the quarterback position? And Jacoby Brissett... We got Trey McBride also. Oh, he's the best tight end in the game, huh? We can argue that. We can argue he's the best tight end in the game. But again... Who you argue with? Yousville? But what are we doing at the quarterback position? I'm sure Calumari gone. Jacoby Brissett was a good feeling in a sense, especially from a statistical standpoint, if you look at his numbers, even though they were losing, I don't know if he's my long term he's not your long term solution but he's something you would love to have in especially if he's one to be a veteran presence for someone young if that's the route you go right so so we got the Raiders
1:00:42that's the last job right that's the only job that's left
1:00:49but we think the Raiders are going to get filled by Clint Kubian so all the head coaching vacancies will be filled and it seems like the odd man out is Matt Nagy because he didn't get one of those jobs
