In short
Best moments from NFL Draft Part 2, with heavy focus on trades and team needs—especially the Eagles selecting Makai Lemon, Cowboys maneuvering around the Steelers, and later picks like Caleb Downs and KC Concepcion.
Guests (hosts/participants mentioned in transcript): The episode is a panel-style discussion with multiple sports-media personalities, including Ocho (main voice), Chad, and “Joe” (another speaker). It also includes unrelated promo segments for other iHeart podcasts (Clifford Taylor IV, Daniel Alarcon/John Green, Edwin Castro/Konky), but the draft analysis is driven by Ocho, Chad, and Joe.
Guest backgrounds
Ocho is presented as having “25 years of NFL experience” and speaking from a GM/owner perspective. Chad and Joe are presented as fellow draft analysts/commentators in the same conversation.
Key claims
- Eagles’ Makai Lemon pick is framed as a done deal and a strong pairing with “Smitty” (A.J. Brown referenced as potentially headed to the Patriots).
- Cowboys allegedly tipped off/acted on knowledge that the Steelers were going to take Makai Lemon, then traded with Philadelphia to gain extra picks.
- Steelers are criticized for allegedly contacting Lemon while he wasn’t on the clock.
Notable examples
- Makai Lemon: won the Biletnikoff Award (college football outstanding WR).
- Cowboys: Caleb Downs (DB) praised as a “no brainer,” plus Malachi Lawrence (edge/defense) and other defensive selections.
- Browns: KC Concepcion (OT/OL) selected; later Taylon Green (Arkansas QB) in the sixth round with combine-measurable highlights (4.36 speed, vertical jump 43.5).

2:47Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, guess who the Eagles taking? Makai Lemon. What did I tell you? Okay, okay. So that lets you know.
3:00Shannon Sharpe:We talked about, yeah, we think he's going to have June 1st. Well, we know he's going to have. Makai Lemon.
3:11Shannon Sharpe:They said, who's Makai Lemon? Lemon, he won the Belitnikoff Award as this year's outstanding wide receiver in college football. That's who he is. You were nice. You were nice. That's a good pairing. Him and Smitty, I like that. I like that. But see, I wanted him to get a bit. You don't like it? Look, you got Smitty. Smitty's 6 '1", 170. Lemon, 5 '11", 192. Man, go get you a 6 '2", 6 '3". That's where AJ came in because he was just the opposite of Smitty. Smitty, 6 '1", 170. and you got AJ 6 '2", 6 '3", 215, 220. You got to get a big guy. Nah, I like it that way. I like it that you got two twitchies.
4:01You got two twitchy receivers, you know. Well, you got a bunch of twitchy receivers. Hollywood twitchy. I'm saying I can get it. I mean, there's levels to being twitchy now.
4:11Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
4:17Shannon Sharpe:so now the Cowboys on the clock at 21 right
4:25okay you see see how everything came to fruition I mean I told you AJ was going to be gone a long time ago mmhmm
4:38Shannon Sharpe:yeah it's time hey they cussed us out they called me everything except the son of God yeah you don't know everything you just talking you ain't in the locker room nah I said Ocho and I just basing stuff off what you know 25 years of NFL experience we're basing it off knowing how GMs and owners think knowing how and I know look he had a lot of support but I'm just saying when you win and you still complain about what you didn't do people will view that as selfish be it right or wrong that's all we're saying people will view him like bro you winning I thought the job was to win the only problem I said I said bro I just wish you to keep it behind closed doors if you keep it behind closed doors you can be that'll be speculation what we got
5:37okay
5:38Shannon Sharpe:the Steelers are on the clock Steelers I don't know if Bane can play in a 3-4 though you don't think so he's 6 '2", 260 if you gonna stand him up you damn sure ain't gonna put him in a 5 listen they draft him for a reason and only drafting him based on whatever he did at UM you gotta adapt to your C no no no Bane is in Tampa Bane is in Tampa So now what are the Steelers' notes? A wide receiver? Concepcion? I mean, they got DK. Corner? They got DK. You got Calvin Austin III. Yeah. Damn. You got to keep TJ healthy. You got to keep High healthy. Cam Hayward is going to be Cam Hayward. He's solid.
6:36Shannon Sharpe:He's going to play the games. He's going to play. He's going to do what he does. Their first round draft pick from a couple of years ago, the Noles. What is it, from Baylor? I'm trying to think.
6:53Shannon Sharpe:Safety, you got Ram at safety. You got PZ Jr. at the one corner. Porter Jr., that's right.
7:12Shannon Sharpe:they drafted Makai Lemon they already had Smitty they signed Hollywood on the 17th of March they signed Elijah Moore on the 24th of March they signed Wicks on the 10th of April so does this mean for all intents and purposes it is a done deal that A.J. Brown is going to the Patriots. Yeah. Is that what you believe, Ocho? Yeah, absolutely. Ocho. Absolutely. I said it a very long time ago, three, four months. I'm not sure we can pull that clip up. I'm sure ask if someone could actually find it where I said it. Yeah, we're going to pull up on the clip. Hey, where I said it. Because the thing was, when we were saying it, everybody was talking.
7:51Shannon Sharpe:The thing is, Ocho, when you say something, everybody knew that. But then nobody – why were you calling Ocho not crazy? Why are you talking about how you know? You don't know everything. Y 'all think y 'all know everything. Why did y 'all say that then that y 'all knew he was going to get traded when Ocho and I jumped out there? The funny thing, not only did I say he was going to get traded, I told you the exact team he was going to go to. I mean, I said it out to Blue because it's the only thing that made sense based on the situation, what was going on, where he would fit, a coach that already knows.
8:22Man, it was plain as day to be able to see. But obviously certain fans, you know, we have a player like AJ who help you win a Super Bowl, you don't want to see all that. You don't want to see that you want that player to be a part of your organization. So you fight for said player regardless of what's said about him. And so, I mean, it is what it is. This business is very crude. And when you don't want to be somewhere, they will do everything in their due diligence to get rid of you when they see you of no value anymore. And they can replace you. That's one thing about this business too long. But they will move on.
8:57Oh, yeah, everybody's replaceable.
9:01Shannon Sharpe:Is it a situation, let's see, Pittsburgh, do you take another corner? Scott from Miami, Tennessee.
9:15Terrell from Clemson.
9:19Shannon Sharpe:Running back, is there a running back with a high grade? They just, I mean, what's the name? I know they got Jalen Warren, but is that a no?
9:36Shannon Sharpe:What you thinking? You're the Steelers. I'm going defense. That defense look... You gonna take a linebacker? Linebacker, probably somebody in the secondary. Defense look nothing like on paper. You thought they would have been the Marvel... Damn, a Marvel cast or something. They ain't played nothing like it. They played like my little ponies last year. Based on what we saw on paper, with the names. You expect to be, oh my goodness. Because I was one of the few that came out and said it. Oh, they should have a top two, top three defense based on the names that are on paper. But they played nothing like that last year.
10:11Nothing at all.
10:12Shannon Sharpe:They didn't. I think TJ got hurt. He wasn't the same since they punctured that lung. Remember Ocho? Yeah. And he missed time. I still don't understand how they keep doing that. It happened with Tyrod Taylor. It happened with TJ Watt. I'm not sure what these doctors are doing but they're puncturing these players it's a fine line in there Ocho because you're trying to get the medicine in there because you got it you're trying to get that medicine in there so he's going to be able to function and you go it don't take much you go this wrong way you hit that bone this year experience the NHL playoffs your way.

15:08Shannon Sharpe:Now, he's got to reinflate. And the thing is, hey, because he done got paid, he didn't sue him. In the real world, that's a lawsuit. I mean shoot Tyrod Taylor didn't sue either He could have huh
15:30Shannon Sharpe:They take an offensive lineman Offensive defensive lineman Offensive lineman The Steelers Okay Arizona State offensive lineman Okay Okay Okay
15:49Shannon Sharpe:I ain't gonna even try to say Max. They're taking Max. Hey, his last name, Iyan Incho. Did I say that right? Okay. Go ahead. Iyan Incho. You know what? I don't know. I don't want to be disrespectful and butcher his last name. Congratulations to Max.
16:17Huh?
16:20Shannon Sharpe:Ihanacho? Ihanacho, Ocho. That's how you say it? Yeah, Max Ihanacho. Okay. Ihanacho. Chore, like a chore. You have a task. Max Ihanacho. I like that.
16:43Woo!
16:44Shannon Sharpe:I feel great. So, Akeem Mesidor is still on the board. KC Concepcion is still on the board. Some of the guys that we ended up, we talked to this year at some point in time, Ocho. Ponds from the DB from Indiana had an outstanding combine, had an outstanding season this year.

17:12He was nice.
17:25So
17:29Shannon Sharpe:The Steelers get an offensive lineman
17:35Shannon Sharpe:Who's on the clock next? Oh, the Chargers Chargers The question is What's the guy from Joe Alt went out And the other guy went out from Northwestern for the Joe Alt was out because they moved Joe from right to left because the left guy went out. He's from Northwestern.
18:12Shannon Sharpe:What's his name? They just paid him too. Slater, yeah. Yeah, you were Sean Slater. Sean Slater. I think, shoot, that's their best offensive lineman. Well, both of them got hurt because Slater got hurt first, and then Alt, who was the right guard, right tackle, they moved him to the left, and then he got hurt.
18:36Shannon Sharpe:I was in the league when his dad played. His dad played at Kansas City, Joe.
18:50Shannon Sharpe:So, it's going to be very interesting to see who they need. I mean, what you call them got sacked a bunch too? Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert.
19:03Hey, I hear Thanos. Thanos.
19:46Hey, what up twins?
19:50Shannon Sharpe:I see you You're still late tonight What up twin
20:02I see you I forgot his name What's his name again Titus
20:25Titus. Hey, Chad, if you were to grade some of the, Chad, if you were to grade the draft so far from A to F, what would you grade it? I mean, for me, I mean, everything has been A+. Everything has been A+. For me, I think it's somewhat of a, I hate to use the word weak. I hate to use the word weak draft, but it's nothing comparable to some of the other drafts, some of the iconic drafts that we've had before. But it's been okay. Based on what we had available, I give it maybe a B plus so far. Somebody said a C? Yeah, C is good.
21:08Damn, a D? Somebody got A's, A's, B's. I give it a B. I give it a B. That draft with, I think it was a Miles Garrett year, is iconic. The draft with, is it Miles Garrett year? The Chargers taking Akeem Mesidor. Oh, chat. The Chargers are taking Akeem Mesidor. Akeem Mesidor. University of Miami, Hurricane Defense End. So that's dope. That's both of the Miami Defense Ends obviously going. one to San Diego, one to Tampa Bay. Hakeem Mesidor-Unk to the San Diego Chargers. I mean, excuse me, LA Chargers. I'm talking about San Diego. The LA Chargers, yeah.
21:56Shannon Sharpe:The Canadian kid, right? From UM, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So that's three first-rounders for them. That's dope. That's dope. 2D, two on defense, and the offensive tackle. Still got a chance. Scott might sneak in the first round a little later. Cowboys on the clock, Ocho Alright, Cowboys What you liking, Ocho? What you thinking? You know what? Hell, get that cornerback out of Tennessee You know what? They do need the corner to go with Bland, huh? Hell yeah Cause Bland He's been living up to his name lately He chicken with no season Hey, come on Hey, that's a good one Chad, am I lying? I say either they go DB or maybe they, I don't know.
22:51Receiver? No?
22:55Shannon Sharpe:I'm saying they got Caleb Downs. Go DB or go middle backer? Middle backer. Is there a middle backer that got a grade that's worthy of that?
23:14Shannon Sharpe:Jamod McCoy.
23:23Shannon Sharpe:Or you can't have enough pass rushes, Ocho. That was their problem, consistently getting to the quarterback. Normally they had to bring extra pressure. Extra pressure means you got to sacrifice the back end. When your back end is not up to par, you're vulnerable. And they got sacrificed too. They did.
23:50Dallas need offense, need defense.
23:59Shannon Sharpe:Colton Hood. And then the Browns are going to be on the clock.
24:09Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to get a wide receiver here. They might go get another offensive lineman Sure that thing up for Dak? No, I'm talking about the Browns The Browns are on the clock next Cowboys are counting down They're under two and a half on the clock
24:34Shannon Sharpe:Somebody said they take the Rodriguez kids Out of Texas Tech They definitely need a middle backer
24:42Shannon Sharpe:I don't know I don't know If he has that kind of grade on him To pick his end
24:52Shannon Sharpe:Oh yeah McCoy, Tennessee
25:02Any word? What we looking like? What we looking like?
25:11Jerry's on the phone.
25:19Shannon Sharpe:What about the Allen kid, the linebacker, Georgia? They need a middle backer, man. You know what? Yeah, because Logan is gone. I mean, they brought him in from Cincinnati. I don't know why. I don't know why. He wanted out of Cincinnati and went to that. I'm like, bro, you're not like that. That's what's always puzzling to me, Ocho, when a guy, he's a guy, and congratulations, but I'm saying you're like, oh, I want to go some, huh? I'm trying to think. In the draft.
25:58All the really, really impact players are going, even on defense.
26:04Shannon Sharpe:But that plays.
26:10Shannon Sharpe:I'll do the ribs and mac and cheese.
26:19Shannon Sharpe:Pork. Half.
26:24Shannon Sharpe:I don't like them dino. Dino too big. What you often eat? Yep. Man, I'm going to... Not on camera, though. But by the time we get here, by the time we get in the crowd. Matter of fact, you know what? Since we on so early tonight, I'm gonna treat myself to Tussies. I'm gonna treat myself to Tussies. I'm gonna go to Tussies tonight with the missus. Hey, baby, I know... Cambodia in town? Yeah, baby, I know you can see this. Oh, you can hear me? We finna go to Tussies soon as the draft ends.
26:57Yeah, yeah, she here. I'm finna go to Tussies. You wearing that? I'm going like this. Wow What happened
27:10Shannon Sharpe:What happened But he's the edge Isn't he Yeah Who they took Malachi Lawrence Defensive end UCF Edge Right down the street Okay I like it 6-4-2-53 Golly You can never have enough pass rushers I'm not surprised That it go in defense That's where they need to go. I think they're pretty good offense. Maybe you've got to get a swing tackle or something, don't you? But you can pick that up rounds three through five, three through six. You're good. But focus on defense. You've got to shore that up because your defense is not up to par. When you go against the Lions and the Rams and these high-powered offenses, you don't stand a chance.
28:01Shannon Sharpe:You don't stand a chance. I'm not mad about the Cowboys about this pick, I like this pick I think the Cowboys have done it, I love the Caleb Downs pick I love that I mean that's a no brainer Yeah
28:19Shannon Sharpe:Browns on the clock Needs, they need a quarterback They need a wide receiver, they need an OT, O guard, quarterback They need everything of offense The defense is phenomenal Two of the three, three of the five, yeah. Well, actually, they got four of the five positions of need is on the offensive side.
28:51Shannon Sharpe:Four to five.
28:57Casey Concepcion. Yeah. It would be pretty, I don't know,
29:09Shannon Sharpe:like Dallas. Like what they've done. With a situation like that, Ocho, they're going for it. They're not moving pick. No.
29:22Shannon Sharpe:Not with the moves they're making.
29:28Shannon Sharpe:You're making moves like this, Ocho, you say I'm going for it. But we believe we have the offense with Dak. They might do something with Dak. I mean, they did. They adjusted it and gave Dak money and signing bonus. Probably did the same thing with CD. A couple of other guys. What's the other guy? The Smith, Smitty, the offensive lineman. But, yeah, they're going for it. They're not going to move pick. Pick is basically going to have to play.
30:02KC Concepcion going to the Cleveland Browns.

31:20Shannon Sharpe:I'm Daniel Alarcon, a writer and journalist, and John and I have known each other since we were kids. My first World Cup was Mexico 86. I was nine years old. I watched every game and I fell in love. On our new podcast, The Away End, we'll share with you the magic of international football, all leading up to the 2026 World Cup. For us, soccer, football, is a story we've shared for over 30 years since Daniel was the star player on our high school soccer team. Very debatable. And I was their most loyal and sometimes only fan. I love this game. I love its history, its hope, its heartbreak, and above all, its beauty.
31:57Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things, football, soccer is the most important. Listen to The Away End with Daniel Alarcon and John Green on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. 32:19Shannon Sharpe:I'm telling you I had nothing to my name. I didn't know a single person in New York. And somehow I'm dressed by Oscar de la Renta walking down that red carpet. This month, we sit down with entrepreneurs and creators who actually did it, who turned this scary leap into a business, a paycheck, and a life they are proud of. Direct center of our happiness or our regrets is whether or not we're taking action on the things that matter to us. They're not selfish. They're so important. They actually lead to our greatest contributions because when we're living fulfilled, we actually show up better everywhere.

Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Sidebar, why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? I would have hit a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white collar or something? Here, just hit it.
34:19What are y 'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. Could you imagine? I would buy it.
34:26Shannon Sharpe:Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Oh. Listen to Soccer Moms on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
34:57Shannon Sharpe:All right, now we head to the NFL. Joe, your Cowboys reportedly screwed the Steelers last night. Let's take a listen to the report that Chris Harris from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, this is what he said. Pittsburgh is pissed about this. They feel like Dallas duped them. they especially with the draft being in Pittsburgh they felt embarrassed on a national stage so there was a wild development that happened in the war room not only in Dallas last night but also in Pittsburgh and in Philadelphia so the Cowboys are sitting there on the clock at pick 20 they were planning on taking Malachi Lawrence right there but they did entering that pick they wanted to trade back they had been tipped off somehow that Makai Lemon was going to be the pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the USC wide receiver.
35:43There's a lot of connections with that new Pittsburgh staff. Remember Mike McCarthy is a new head coach there. He hired a lot of, you know, assistant coaches and executives and scouts and, and, you know, people behind the scenes that were in Dallas just a couple of years ago. So it could have been as simple as someone in the Dallas war room, just shooting a text to somebody in the Pittsburgh war room, be like, Hey, who are y 'all taking here? And then thinking, Oh, the Cowboys are taking defense. You know, this is just two guys, you know, two girls talking right here. It's like, Oh, we're taking Makai lemon, you know, and the Cowboys call Philadelphia.
36:14Cowboys call Philadelphia. They're like, Hey, the Steelers are going to take Makai lemon. We know you want a receiver. Come up here, do this deal with us and give us two fourth round picks. And they did the deal. And Pittsburgh is pissed. Multiple sources have told me this morning. Damn. I love that. Yeah. I love the Cowboys being petty and yes it worked out great for them this isn't a boy scout troop man we're trying to win a championship who cares if the steelers are pissed off there's clips out there of makai lemon being on the phone with the pittsburgh steelers and then him being like hey why is philadelphia calling and his agents running in the room philly just traded for you it's going to be philly and he has to hang up on the steelers and answer the eagles phone call and take that and he's drafted at the 20th overall pick.
36:57Hey, that's how business work, ain't it? That's why, Joe, that's why they call it the war room. Hey, listen, when it's time for war, ain't no loving that. I'll give you a prime
37:09Shannon Sharpe:example. I know y 'all don't remember this story, but I do. Y 'all do realize that somebody stole the secrets to Coca-Cola formula, tried to sell it to Pepsi. Guess what Pepsi did? What'd he do? Told Coca-Cola, got the FBA involved and got their ass arrested.
37:32Why?
37:33Shannon Sharpe:First of all, I don't blame the Cowboys, but why would somebody in Pittsburgh ever divulge that information? Why would you do that? Right. Ocho, if I meant, you said it's the war room. That means I meant war. With every other, all 31 other teams, I meant war. Why would I divulge any information about who, what we're potentially going to do. Hey, you know how this business goes, right? It ain't fail. It never has been. If we have an opportunity to get one up on another team. Yes, I don't got no problem with it. I have no problem whatsoever. Oh, okay. My problem is with the Steelers. Right. And they thought they could trust someone.
38:18Shannon Sharpe:I ain't got no friends. Right. Ocho, you go to another team. You go to the Patriots. Man, Ocho, what y 'all do? What y 'all looking like out there, man? Where they got you playing at? Ah, man, I don't even know if I'm going to play this week. That's what I'm saying. Anything that I say, they're going to go back and tell the D.C. or they're going to tell the offense, man, this is what Ocho told me they're doing. You dumb-dumbs. Shit, hey, hey, you know the Cowboys got two picks off of that, though, didn't they? Yeah. Didn't they get two picks off of that? Yes. From Philly moving up? Yes. Yeah. Plus, you got to realize Dallas and Philly, this is not the first time.
39:01Shannon Sharpe:They did this with Micah and Devontae. Philly wanted Devontae Smith. Dallas had to pick. They's like, okay, we'll trade back. Just don't take Parsons. Okay, no, we want Devontae Smith. They agree. Yes. I don't know what Pittsburgh was thinking in this situation. I don't know why. Why would that guy divulge that information, Ocho Joe? Why? He felt comfortable, Unc. Had to. He had to feel comfortable talking to them boys. Hey, it's a dirty business. Hey, Unc and Joe, it always has been. Not only with the players, but obviously those that wear those jackets and those ties, it's still a dirty business.
39:51Shannon Sharpe:You know, you saw this thing in baseball. Who was that? We saw the Houston Rockets. Houston Rockets. The Houston Astros were stealing signs. They banging on the drums. We saw the card where somebody had all that, their portfolio, the information, the analytics and all that. Yes, absolutely. Yeah.
40:11Shannon Sharpe:Hey, we got here. Hey, them Cowboys got some good pickups over there, didn't they? I love the Caleb Downs. How did Caleb Downs slip to us like that? it seemed like somebody said he had some knee issues is that correct
40:28Shannon Sharpe:I mean from what I've been hearing hell they were talking about how he's like one of the if not the best prospect in the draft yeah he up there he one of them hey he's a great pick that's one of those picks you really can't miss and y 'all got another edge nah nah Jayshon Jayshon Barham I think when they draft him today yep third round hold up didn't they get Rob Regas from Texas Tech he was the Bronco he was the what you call him outstanding defensive player this year the linebacker from Texas Tech isn't he going to Dallas no he's going to Miami he's going to Miami he reminds you of Ocho Who was that?
41:19Shannon Sharpe:Zach Thomas. Kiko Long. Zach? You remember Zach Thomas? He was number 10. He was number 10 at Texas Tech, right? Number 10? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He was at Texas Tech too, didn't he? I think so, yeah. What did Zach Thomas call? I think Zach Thomas, the linebacker. Yeah, Zach, no, Zach Martin wouldn't know the name. Mm-hmm. A matter of fact, when I think about the draft and the first two rounds, and I think about giving team grades based on what they've done so far with the first two rounds, the goddamn Cowboys get an A. Goddamn Philadelphia, they get a goddamn A. I don't know what, hey, Howie Roseman, I don't, he just made for this stuff, huh?
42:02He just made for this stuff. Whether it's a draft, whether it's offseason acquisitions, whether it's playing players early, you know, a little earlier than you're supposed to. If you trade that made? Everything he does, he always does it right.
42:13Shannon Sharpe:If you trade that made? What trade that made? Yes. They got Grinner, who was opposite of Anderson. I talked about it last night. I said, Ocho, I've been hearing that he was on the market. Guess what? They trade for him. Four years,$100 million. Boom. Done deal. Now we got another pass rusher. Damn. Hey, so the receiver, he for sure up out of there. AJ, he for sure out of there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. June. June. He'll be over there. He'll be over there in Boston. He'll be over there in Boston. Pass. I mean look it happens sometimes sometimes you have irreconcilable differences and sometimes we can part amicably it happens hey chat I'm curious to chat what they think about the draft and as far as the teams what grades would you give some of this what grade would you give your team your favorite team on how they've done so far in the draft hey Bengals I mean people you know, people will laugh.
43:16Well, what we've done defensively,
43:18Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all got better, Ocho? Hey, I mean, listen, I can't say we got better. I know we got some hell of a pieces. Can I say that? Can I say that up? Jared Allen. Huh? We got Sexy Dexy. A young bull, young bull from Texas A &M. Yeah. Joe? Man, Cassius, Cassius how? He like that? Now, I'm just looking, I'm just looking at what I'm seeing on film, you know, based on the highlights. twitchy, aggressive. Hey, he nice. And he got a little dog in him. He out there talking trash. Most of the time, you don't see that too much, especially from defensive linemen. Hey, we're going to be nice. If we get Shamar Stewart to come out this year and show the progress and improvement.
44:05He was the first-round pick last year. He didn't do much last year. But we get him coming along this year, man. Hey, Miles Murphy, I like it. We improved defensively. It's one thing to have names, but it's another thing when the goddamn bullet's flying, are you going to show up on Sundays when it counts?
44:23Shannon Sharpe:Hey, what your Ravens and your Broncos do? They get better? They took an offensive lineman. I think both teams took offense. No, I'm trying to think, what did the Broncos take? Hell, I don't even know. The Ravens took, I know the Ravens took the offensive lineman from Penn State. And they took defense. I think they took defense in the second round. I see. They had an early pick in the second round. I see them Browns got them some receivers, some offensive tackles, didn't they, man? Yeah, I told Ocho they need some receivers. They need some receivers. Shit. Ocho, what are your thoughts on the Steelers calling Malachi Washington when they weren't even on the clock?
45:01Shannon Sharpe:No. Lemons. I was watching. What the hell I get watching? Lemons. Malachi Lemons. Check this out. Makai. Makai, not Malachi. Makai. Makai Lemons. Malachi went to the Cowboys. Yeah. All right. Jake Rosenberg said clubs that are not on the clock may have discussions with representatives of one or more draft eligible players not yet selected or discussion with players themselves regarding the players interest in playing in the league, playing for a particular club or type of club, the players health or no other non financial matters. so long as these discussions do not interfere with discussions between player and clubs that is on the clock.
45:45Shannon Sharpe:So I don't know why Steeler, you're not supposed to even talk. So guess what? So they in the wrong. Look, you can talk to the representative or you can talk to the players, Ash. Right. It says you may have discussion with the representative of one or more draft eligible players not yet selected or in discussion or discussion with the player themselves. So theoretically, since they weren't on the clock, they shouldn't have to have a conversation. Yeah. Right. You're not supposed to be able to do that, though. So, yeah, I got no. Hey, so good. You're supposed to lose. You could talk to the you could talk to the agent, but you're not supposed to be having a conversation with said player, with the player, with the player.
46:33Shannon Sharpe:So Steelers, I don't know why you mad.
46:37Shannon Sharpe:One lowdown dirty D deserves another. Hold on. What player are the Steelers mad at? The Steelers was on the phone with Makai Lemon when they weren't on the clock. So Dallas doesn't deal with Philly. Philly landed Jet. That's how you ended up over there. Okay, okay, okay. You're supposed to be able to talk to his representative, but you're not supposed to be on the clock with the player unless you're on the clock. He wasn't on the – Steelers weren't on the clock. Because if they were on the clock, guess what? There wasn't nothing Philly could do. But since they weren't on the clock, Dallas said, hey, you know what?
47:20Shannon Sharpe:We ain't selected him, so let us go ahead and pick up a couple of extra draft picks that might help us out down the road. L-O. And Makai Lemon, boy, he upset too. Why you say that? He upset. He upset. He felt he was one of the better players in the draft and should have been going a little earlier than Woody Diego. He got a little chip on the shoulder. Obviously, there were rumblings and talk about the way he does his interviews and his mannerisms, the way he conducts himself when talking, but that's just him. That's just him. He's not Peyton Manning. He's not Tom Brady. They just don't like the way it comes off, the way he does his interviews.
47:57But, hey, this man here to play football. He's here to play football. You know, how he conducts himself when the camera and the mic is in front of him, that has nothing to do with what he does on the goddamn field. But he was pissed off. And you can tell. You can tell. So I hope he go out there and do his you-know-what thing.
48:13Shannon Sharpe:It's reported that the Eagles were trying to get in touch with Lemon, but he's on the phone with the Steelers. Because you know if you're a draft and you're on the phone, Ocho, what's the likelihood of you clicking over? Because you're already on the phone with the NFL team. So whoever's calling is not nearly as important as who you on the phone with. Right, right, right. Not even close. So they were like, well, damn, we're trying to call a little boy. This the number he gave us? Because, you know, you got to give him the number, Ocho, where you going to be? They're asking for your number. Where you going to be?
48:42Shannon Sharpe:Are you going to be in Miami? Are you going to be in Oregon? Are you going to be here? Are you going to be there? What's the best number? Is there a second number? Nah, this is all the number I got. Yeah. So they try to get in touch with him. They're like, well, damn.
48:58Shannon Sharpe:he click over congratulations Makai we just selected you huh I was talking to the Steelers talking to them about what dead on the clock hey hey boy that's a hell of a feeling though the draft that's a that's something you'll never forget bro that's something you'll never forget it's a hell of a feeling yeah it's nerve wracking hell yeah if you didn't have anxiety you probably got it that day. You feel me? Yes. You know what I tell you? Ocho, guys need to understand. It's not high, high. It's where you go. That's the most important thing. We've seen guys go high, go to the wrong situation. We've seen guys go to the right situation.
49:47Shannon Sharpe:Tom Brady went to the sixth round. Maybe somebody else, hey, he gets cut. They kept four quarterbacks in New England. That's unheard of. Four active quarterbacks on the roster. Coach Belichick saw something. He was so convinced that this guy had something and said, you know what? Hey, just do scout team stuff and don't even worry about it. Yeah. But you know, that's not the way the players think about it too. You know, everybody wants to go early. Obviously, money plays a huge factor in wanting to go early, but the money is so different now as opposed to when we were playing and when we got drafted, hey, you can go in the goddamn third round and still be sitting damn near world pretty.
50:31Shannon Sharpe:Hey, second round is getting first round of money now, aren't you? Compared to what first round is normally get? You do realize I think all first rounders contracts are guaranteed. That running back got the running back, he got the most guaranteed money ever. 50. Yeah. Yeah. I see why his parents were doing this all night. Yeah, they should. Hey, hey, what about the kid who we had on here, Avion Terrell? He got drafted by the Falcons. By the Falcons, going with Jordan's brother. He playing with his brother. Oh, man, that's so hard, bro. Hey, that's so dope, Joe. That's crazy. Oh, man. Oh, man.
51:13Hey, Unc, has there ever been a tandem of brothers that actually played together on the same team? At the same position?
51:19Shannon Sharpe:Not that I know of. Damn. I can't think anything off the top of my head. Hey, and they both from here. Yeah, they went to Wesley. Damn. Hey, can you imagine that? AJ Terrell on one side and his brother on the other side. Oh, that's crazy. See, you can do that if you're on the defensive side. I wasn't trying to play with my brother. He a ball hog. They're throwing that ninja to the ball, man. Man, that guy drafted, he had just come out of leading the league. He had just come out of leading the league in catches. First team all throw. 92-93, he went back-to-back over 100. Nah. Woo-hoo. Damn. Hey, what kind of advice did he give you, Uncle, when you were going through your process?
52:10Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, Ocho. They did. There been a few. Shaquille and Shaquem Griffin for the Seahawks played. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Remember one was a linebacker, the other was a DB? Yeah. Jason and Devin McCourty played with the Patriots. Oh, no, I'm saying they – no, they – okay, okay, you're right. I'm just saying in the draft – I mean, draft them to the same team. Oh, no, no, no, no, not draft them. No, no, no, no. They ended up playing together. I mean, actually, one player – your brother already been there. Do you actually get drafted to the same team? Not at the top of my head, Ocho. Not at the top of my head.
52:42Shannon Sharpe:Okay, okay, okay. And Derrick and T.J. Watt both played with the Steelers. But I think Derrick ended up when he was drafted by the Chargers, wasn't he?
52:51Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Shaquille and Shaquille was drafted. They both got drafted to the same team. One was a first-round pick, and I think the other was a second-round pick. They both got drafted to Seattle? Yeah, I remember that. Yeah, that's dope. And that's got to be the best. Oh, what about what you call them, Joe? What about Cam and Casey Hayward? both of them in Pittsburgh
53:18Shannon Sharpe:or he might not have been was he drafted was the little brother drafted
53:25hmm
53:32Shannon Sharpe:Connor Connor was he drafted to the Steelers or was he a free agent
53:39Shannon Sharpe:I mean I mean to be from here and playing for the fountain. Bro, that's... He was drafted Hayward. Connor and Cam Hayward. Damn.
53:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, obviously. You probably got a handful of instances, Ocho. If you go back and study the NFL, maybe you got a handful of history. Instances in which guys have gotten drafted. Brothers have gotten drafted. Maybe they played at a later date and time, but to be drafted, man, that's unbelievable. That's dope. As parents, they got to be one of the greatest feelings in the world. One of the greatest feelings. I mean, obviously with Donna Kelsey, what she was able to do. Oh, yeah. I mean, Terrell's parents. I mean, the Watt family, the Manning family. That has to be one of the greatest feelings, man.
54:38The barber. Golly. Oh, yeah. Ronda and Tiki. Yeah, man. That's dope. Pouncy. Yeah. Sonoran and Santana Moss. Trying to think. The list goes on, man.
55:00Shannon Sharpe:But you know what, Ocho? What happened? I mean, they got some very, very touching, heartwarming stories. But I only know one set of brothers. They got these. There you go. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, you right about that. Hey, I like that. I like that. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh. Uh-oh, here he go. Here he go. Hey, hey, so Chauncey got a gold one too? Nah, nah, nah. Hey, listen, I'm the only one with a 14 karat gold bust. You hear me, Hanjo? Hey, Chad. Hey, hey, hey. only one with a 14K. Wait till I get my arm. Hey, look like me, I'm Joe. Yeah, it look like you, bro. Hey, that dome, you got a little knot up there on your dome.
55:47Shannon Sharpe:He got that little knot up there. Uh-huh. See, you should, hey, you should have been working with Chauncey. Got Chauncey to be playing football. Nah, Chauncey a hooper, man. Chauncey, he don't like football. He don't like that contact. Hey, Joe, hey, Joe, you talking about playing me? My brother. Who is your brother? Nah, whoop your brother's ass. Hey, hey. Don't bring your brother in this mess. Hold on, hold on, Joe. Both of my brothers, my brother Chauncey, my brother Sam, I promise you that they can be buckers, boy. Line it up. Line it up. No, you think you slick. You ain't getting away from me.
56:28You gonna deal with me, boy. You gonna deal with me, boy. You gonna deal with me.
56:33Shannon Sharpe:I whoop their ass, too.
56:37Hey, Joe, this ain't the NBA, Joe. What we play streetball. I grew up playing street. What are you talking about? I grew up playing that. Okay. Yeah. Okay, Joe. Hey, all right. All right, man.
56:55Shannon Sharpe:Now to football. The Cleveland Browns selected Arkansas quarterback Taylon Green in the sixth round, number 182. They became the first team in 15 years to take three signal callers in a two-draft span. Green joins the quarterback room currently holding Shadour Sanders, Deshaun Watson, and Dylan Gabriel. The 6 '5", 227-pound Green had a record-breaking performance at the Combine. He ran 4 '3", 6", the fastest by our quarterback since 2003. He also posted the best marks in the vertical jump, 43.5. The standing long jump, 11 foot 2 inch. Green accounted for 7 ,247 yards in two seasons at Arkansas.
57:36Shannon Sharpe:The second most in SEC since 2024. I got a question. I got a question real quick. So if you, Deshaun Watson, Dylan Gabriel, Sanders, how do you feel about this pick?
57:57Shannon Sharpe:Look, they brought that guy. He a six-round pick. I guess they like the measurables because if you thought that much of him, you'd have selected him early. Me, I'm there to compete. Every year, they bringing somebody in to take somebody's position. Yeah. Now, maybe it wasn't – maybe it wasn't – I wasn't on the chopping block. My position wasn't on the chopping block last year, Ocho. But I know at some point in time, guess what? They're going to bring somebody in to replace my ass, yo. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey. I'm saying teams don't carry no damn four quarterbacks, do they? No. The last time I can remember, we mentioned the Patriots did.
58:36Shannon Sharpe:That was the – Tom Brady. That was the last time I can recall four active quarterbacks. You can't – nobody's carrying four active quarterbacks now because you want that guy to be a swing offensive lineman, a wide receiver. Yeah. Normally that guy is going to have to be able to play – going to have to be able to play special teams. It's just not enough position. I mean, the quarterback don't give you any value other than playing quarterback. He's not going to play special teams. He's not going to play defense. Right. So more times than not, the extra guys is going to have to do more than one thing.
59:07Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you have to play outside, play the slot. You have to play special teams. Wide receiver, can you play outside? Can you play the slot? Right. As a DB, can you play outside? Can you play the slot? Yeah. Offensive lineman, can you play center and guard? Can you play guard tackle? is just too valuable. I don't care. I'm there to compete. All I know is that I'm going to make this team. Yeah, that's it. I mean, honestly, I mean, the tests and the numbers, they look good. Obviously, they wow those that are scouts, those that are GMs. But obviously, it has to be able to translate to the goddamn football feel as well.
59:45If they thought, you know, of him the way most would probably view it, I mean, there's nothing to worry about. you know, Deshaun is going to be the starting quarterback. We already know that. And probably, probably. Shador. God damn, Shador is going to be the backup. Now, bringing someone on like that and allowing him to develop and see how fast he can catch on, and maybe then, maybe then, I'm not saying he will be the starter, but just continue to groom yourself and get better and develop as a quarterback. And you can use those intangibles that you tested with, you know, in the preseason, and we'll see what he looked like.
1:00:21Shannon Sharpe:Damn. I think he's probably more of a project than anything, Ocho. I think he's raw. Yeah. Bring him in and treat him like they did Cordell Stewart. They threw Cordell the ball. They hit him the ball. He got that kind of speed. Yeah, yeah. So what happens if he plays in the preseason? I'm talking about he look immaculate out there. Hey, Joe, that's preseason, boy. Ain't nobody out there. And shit, you still trying out for 30-something other teams? I know. I'm just saying, Joe, in the preseason, None of them boys, them boys, they not at it. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Oh, Joe, but when you came into the NFL, you can attest to this too.
1:01:00Shannon Sharpe:Hell, I can attest to it. Right. I didn't give a damn. My rookie year? Yeah. Preseason or not. Boy, I was out there trying to show what I could do. Absolutely. I'm about to give it 10 plays. I'm going to bust somebody ass and nine of them for sure. Right, but I'm just saying, I'm just saying, Joe, watching a rookie go in in the preseason and thinking you're going to be able to judge him on what he's going to be able to do in the regular season when he's not playing against the Wands or the Wands that's actually going to be out there on Sundays at 1 o 'clock? Yeah. I take that with a grain of salt, Joe.
1:01:30I take it with a grain of salt. I think the thing is with...
1:01:33Shannon Sharpe:Go ahead, Ocho. Go ahead. I was going to say, then also defensively, Joe, everything the teams run in the preseason is so vanilla. Yeah. Cover one, cover three, cover four, nothing exotic, you know, no blitzes, no... I mean, no. Everything is very bland. So I would take anything I see in the preseason, especially from a quarterback. I think the thing is, is that I want to see him. And I understand he's young, he's raw, but I like the measurable 6 '5", 227. He has excellent speed. He has excellent size. Let's see if we get him. Now, he's only going to have four weeks to prepare. But do we see enough that if we keep him under our umbrella for a year, and let him get acclimated to our system, do we see down the road him being viable for us?
1:02:27Shannon Sharpe:Right. Because I just can't look right now. I got to project. Sometimes I got to project. And sometimes, don't you, that's how they do. It's like, okay, maybe he's a year away. Maybe he's two years away. But he has measurables. He has things that we can't teach. I can't teach you how to be 6 '5". I can't teach you how to run sub 4 '4". I can't teach you to have this God-given athletic ability. You're born with that. But what I can teach you is how to change your mechanics and throw the football. How to get your body under control so you can throw the football more accurately. So I think that's what they're going to look at.
1:02:57Shannon Sharpe:I know that's what they look at in the preseason. That's what got me because they looked at me and said, damn, look how big he is. He's a willing tacker. He's a willing blocker. We can find something for him to do in the meantime until he figures it out. Absolutely. it's so funny too is you look at scouts and they use all these numbers we do they use the combine and really it really means nothing joe what does the film look like when you turn the goddamn film on what does the player look like you can measure you can jump out the gym you can you can run a four two four one all that doesn't matter it doesn't matter what do you look like when i turn the film on?
1:03:37How can you make an impact on my team? How can you make my franchise better at said position that you play? That's all it comes down to. It's really cool. Running good, jumping high, doing the cone drills and all that. Sometimes, if it's very good, you'll climb up the draft board. You'll climb up the draft board. You become what they call a steal. But the film don't lie, Joe. The film never lies.
1:04:04Shannon Sharpe:I think the thing is, what he has is ish that teams don't care about in a quarterback. They don't care that you run sub 4-4. They don't care you got a 43-inch vertical because when are you going to use it? You're going to be Walter Payton and jump over the top? So now if he's a wide receiver and had those measurables, he's a DB or a linebacker, a tight end and had those measurables, oh, he's going to be in the top three rounds with those measurables? Yeah. You're not getting past the third round. If you're a wide receiver, and you 6 '5", and you run sub 4 '4", with a 43.5 inch vertical and a 11.2 broad jump, you're not getting out of the first three rounds.
1:04:46Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely not. I think if he can figure it out and his processing skills are great, though, Arkin Ocho, I think having a dual quarterback, hell, dual quarterbacks are in now. You know what I mean? If his processing skills are great, I think he'll have a chance. Like I was saying earlier, Yeah, hell, he might not be with the Browns, but hell, if I get into preseason, I show some promise. Yeah. I know some team will take a chance on me and bring me in as a third quarterback, you know what I'm saying, or something. Yeah. Or put me on the practice squad. All I'm trying to do, the longer I can stay and play and get into someone's system that I can learn Ocho and Joe, the better I'll be.
1:05:25Shannon Sharpe:The problem is, it's easier to get in the league and stay than get out and try to get back in. So my thing is, is that, okay, maybe I'm not on the Browns. But at some point in time, I want somebody like, you know what? Let's bring this kid in. Yeah. And let's see. It might be a situation. What was the dude from Arkansas? Y 'all had another dude. He was a quarterback. Ocho, you remember? And he switched positions. The tall white kid, Matt Jones. Matt Jones. Played with Jacksonville. Yes. Played with Jacksonville. He was a quarterback just like this. Six foot six. He ran 4-4. He went the first round as a wide receiver.
1:06:01Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. He played on the basketball team, too. Oh, did he? I know exactly what you're talking about. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. So my thing is that I'm doing everything I possibly can because at least give me an opportunity to play the quarterback position. Yeah. But if you don't think I can play quarterback and it doesn't work out, I'll move my ass to wide receiver. Yeah, yeah. To stay around? Yeah. Hell yeah. Yeah. What's Taysom Hill? Taysom Hill was a quarterback at BYU. Yeah. He got about eight years in the NFL doing what, Ocho? hand the ball off. He threw a few passes. He caught a few passes. He got on special teams.
1:06:37Yeah, and he's on the right team and the right system that knows how to use him.
1:06:43Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. This is the one he played for the Saints. Sometimes guys get to the feelings. This is it. I'm only going to do that. Okay. Yeah, that's him, Joe. Give me an opportunity to play the position. If I don't play it well enough, you think I can't make the team and I need to switch. At six foot five, Ocho, you realize this Megatron, he ran faster than Megatron. We got to slow down now. I'm saying the measurables. At that point in time, I'm looking at measurables now. Tell me how I teach somebody to be six five. How do I teach somebody to run four, three, six? That you can't do either. What about that vertical jump?
1:07:29I teach
1:07:29Shannon Sharpe:Son, keep you out of the ball. Hey, look here. Try to pick the ball up at the quarterback's hand as quick as you possibly can. Hey, you know there's so much more going through than that. Hey, go down there and work with Ocho. Ocho's going to try to tell you. 10 roll to 12. Be able to drop it. No, no, keep your head straight. Hey, pretend that there's a line that has your face mask, and it's pulling you forward. So I don't want you to do this and tip your route, because the DB going to jump it. Yeah. So you got something pulling your face mask. you got a string that's pulling your face mask. You keep that hand pointed downfield as long as you possibly can.
1:08:03Shannon Sharpe:And then you and come up out of there. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
1:08:12Shannon Sharpe:He got his foot in the door. That's it. Hey, listen, sometimes, Joe, that's all you need, Joe. That's it. Sometimes that's all you need. You know what else I do like? I know a lot of players, especially coming out of college, they're going to be upset about where they got drafted. A lot of players felt, oh, I should have went first round. I should have went second round. I should have went third. Oh, I went undrafted. It doesn't matter where you got – I mean, to some, it matters where you get drafted. Only for money. Yeah, for that reason, obviously the money. But, Joe, it's going to be so eye-opening, right, that them thinking they're better than they actually are until they see how good and how far you got to go once the ones get there.
1:08:54Shannon Sharpe:I already know one. Hey, Joe, it's eye-opening. It's different because you think I'm this good until the ones that are the starters show up and you see what you're supposed to really look like. Then you get a better understanding, okay, I'm not where I really think I am or where I need to be. Hey, you talking about them guys who show up who got kids? Hey, Joe. Who got families to feed? They know. They got a Bentley, got a Rolls Royce, got a$34 million home. They done bought mom a half a million dollar home. And then they got their sister card. Yeah, them. It's different. So it's different. Terrell Pryor, Ocho.
1:09:34Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Terrell Pryor was a quarterback. He moved a wide receiver in Cleveland and had 1 ,000 yards receiving. Yard season. Yep, sure did. Even though they – I ain't going to say nothing. But they know they did him wrong. He's the only guy that's ever had did something in college that got held against him when he came in the league. He got suspended first, but I don't even talk about it. I'm in enough trouble already. The Browns head coach Todd Munkin seemed a little milked at the media after getting asked about Shadour Sanders and Deshaun Watson right after the NFL draft. Let's take a listen to what Mr.
1:10:03Shannon Sharpe:Munkin had to say. This is a mini camp, just the first one, obviously. So, I mean, can you kind of share how did Deshaun and Shadour and Dylan look? We just couldn't get past the draft and get right on to back to the quarterback. Anybody got some Miles questions too while we're at it? I mean, hell, while we're just here at night. First off, I'll address the question. First of all, it was awesome. Three days, the weather was unbelievable to get out on the grass and pump the music and get fired up being together. And the neighbors complained and we didn't care. And we pumped up the music louder.
1:10:46Shannon Sharpe:They don't like it, they can move.
1:10:51Shannon Sharpe:what he thought was going to happen. But normally, guys, I mean, it's the draft. The draft just ended today. So normally, okay, talk about your first round draft. Talk about your draft picks. What do you like? X, Y, Z. Now, you probably talked about the first rounders. That's the first two or three yesterday. And now today, how did you fill out your roster? Do you like what you got? Is there any other additions that you're probably going to make? Is there anybody that you're going to bring in? Are you going to bring this? Are you going to bring that? you should ask him about the minicamp when you had him at minicamp but see they try to be sneaky they try to sneak some secret question and they catch him with his pants down and catch him off guard and ask him a question and then he's you know he's sticking his foot in his mouth yeah and you know what it's always going to be a story too Uncle Joe especially now with Sean Watson coming back I mean you got Shadour you should yeah you understand the storm and the questions that come with Shador, you know, still being there.
1:11:47Obviously, Deshaun, and it's going to be a back and forth. It's going to create a dialogue. It's going to be a conversation throughout the entirety of the season. Yeah. So it is what it is. They got to be ready for it. They got to be ready for it. The quarterbacks themselves also have to be ready for it. They're going to try to do their best to pin them boys against each other. You know how it is, asking certain questions you shouldn't be asking, trying to trip them up to get them to say something they shouldn't say and bait him into saying something so they can use his as a quote. You know, they'll flip your words around real fast if you're not careful.
1:12:22Well, I just think, you know, from a fan perspective, bro,
1:12:26Shannon Sharpe:everybody wants to know the quarterback situation. We understand they address some needs. Well, damn, can't we get the training camp? Can't we get everybody in, Joe? I'm just saying, I'm saying from a fan standpoint, we want to know what the hell he thinking. Joe, it's April. I'm going to play a game until September. I know, but hell, it's going to be out of Deshaun and Shadour. No, Joe, you know who it's going to be already, Joe. You're saying Deshaun's going to start off. The starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns is going to be the one making 40 million goddamn dollars. He's not going to be on the bench.
1:13:00Wait a minute. You're making 40 million and you're healthy. You think you know that we already know. If you know game, if you know football, the man with the most money is going to be starting. Now, if he starts playing bad, you know, you're going into game five, game six, and you're losing, then the change is made.
1:13:20Shannon Sharpe:Right. And the mere fact that you're having to ask this question lets you know you don't have a solid starter. What team, they ain't asking the Rams about who their quarterback is. They ain't asking the Patriots. They're not asking the Broncos. They're not asking any other team. They're asking this because they're not solidified at that position. We understand that. But it's only minicamp. Think about it. We ain't got the main. They ain't even brought everybody together, y 'all. They ain't even had the main minicamp. Oh, that's in June. Which is the last time that they get a chance to see you before you report back to training camp.
1:14:01Shannon Sharpe:That's in July. When in April? You ain't talking about training camp. You ain't talking about the mandatory mini camp. Right. Hey, listen. Well, if that pissed him off, every time he get his ass up there to answer some questions, I guarantee you that's going to be topic of discussion. Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. Yes. You know what else is going to piss him off, too? Right. Is as we get closer to the season, the question from the reporters, who's going to be your starting quarterback week one? That's going to make it even worse. but you know how you nullify that? By saying who your starter is in goddamn training camp.
1:14:37Unless they do the same thing they always do on, oh, it's going to be a quarterback battle. May the best man win. That's another game that the owners play. I mean, the head coaches play. You know who you want to start. Like, come on.
1:14:50Shannon Sharpe:I ain't got a name right now. Ocho, I gave you a plus one. Who you bringing? You hadn't decided yet. You know what I'm saying? I mean, I know. I'm just saying. Right. It could be X. It could be Y. Now, I'm just saying, Cambodia, I'm just saying facetiously. I'm just saying. I give it, Ocho, you know, a plus one. Ocho, who you coming with? Man, you know you boy Ocho ain't show yet, but you know, I'm for sure with something. Right. So, they said, look, somebody going to be out there. We're not certain who that somebody is. But guess what? we got to try to let more foes out there when they kick it off.
1:15:31Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You'll see when they come out. You'll see when they try it out there. You know, look, somebody going to leak it. You know it's going to be... What we get? Shadour didn't take any snaps today. Dylan took a lot of snaps with Joe Flacco. Shadour's working. Shadour's just throwing off to the side by himself. You know how this thing go. And funny, they play right into the circus. the GM and the owner and the head coach play right into the circus because if you answer the question right away from the beginning then you don't have to deal with the question no goddamn more. No guess what Ocho if I answer that what led you to this decision when you haven't seen any of them practice against each other with nobody out there going against live competition you see you see all you did was see what you did Ocho you invited another question just by doing what you did see how you did it Ocho that's how they walk you into a trap but I'd rather that than having to hear the same question over and over and over and over until it's time to you until you answer who's going to be a week one starter and you know what's going to happen you know what they're going to do what when it comes to the preseason Deshaun going to start one game then Shaduah going to start yeah then they're going to they're going to have a whole rollout like as a goddamn album release party and have everybody guessing who's going to start week one knowing good and well Deshaun is going to be the starter based on the amount of money he's making going into the season.
1:16:59Shannon Sharpe:Yes, I agree with you. But now, me opening that door, now every day of practice, what I'm going to get? How does Shadour look today? Has Shadour done anything to overtake Deshaun? Deshaun had a bad day. Are you looking at Shadour to replace him? Deshaun had a good day. they look this is not going away for the simple fact is that you know the fans want your door to start they've got a lot of money like you said tied up in Deshaun and they're like at least let me try to get some let me try to recoup some value out of what I've already spent you're not gonna get it back unless Deshaun lead them to the Super Bowl that's the only way he can repay what they've already paid him You just have to be careful because they're going to be unrelenting.
1:17:55Shannon Sharpe:I got, man, ain't nobody want to talk about the Cleveland Browns had minicab, had practice today. I need a story.
1:18:05Shannon Sharpe:That ain't no story. I need stories. People don't even read the paper anymore anyway. Why? So guess what? I got to create a story. Now, what are people reading on the internet right now? There are two things people reading on the internet. they got to do with sports but they damn sure ain't got to do about the game being played you know how this go we done been at this thing a long time we been on this side and we been on the other side so two stories going on it ain't nothing about shooting no basketball or catching a football or throwing no football those are the two biggest things going go look and see what's trending right I know exactly what you're talking about.
1:18:50Shannon Sharpe:It is what it is. Yeah. Damn.
1:18:58Shannon Sharpe:Sean McVay opened tonight's press conference saying he got so many texts about last night post-draft news conference and wanted to clarify that he and GM Les Snead couldn't be more lockstep in every decision that we make. The Rams drafted Ty Simpson at number 13. and on McVay's brief response to the question and overall body language led some to speculate that he was unhappy with the Rams pick. Ocho, do you believe Sean McVay? Absolutely not. He knew he was unhappy. He didn't like it. That came from upstairs. He didn't want that pick. That pick came from upstairs. Listen, I like Ty Simpson. I like what he did at Alabama.
1:19:36It was cool, but he's not the one. Excuse me. Let me take this back. he's not one that's going to be the successor to goddamn Matt Stafford. He's just not. Most of the time you see quarterback come in, are they going to allow him to develop? Well, you just drafted a quarterback not long ago in Stetson Bennett, who you thought was going to be the one to be the successor. Obviously, he's not the answer. And you're going on, now you draft another quarterback. That position, Joe, is one of the hardest, Unc, to be able to find someone to evaluate because you don't know what you're getting until you put them in that situation under the goddamn fire.
1:20:17It's very, very, very, very difficult. Very difficult. That's why so many teams struggle to find one. So you have no choice but to pick someone that early. You have no choice. Because you don't want to wait, Joe. You don't want to be in quarterback purgatory like the Steelers are. Everyone's not going to be lucky like the Green Bay Packers. You're not going to be able to go from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers to Joy Love. It doesn't happen like that. They just, they got lucky.
1:20:43Shannon Sharpe:Look like they're going to have 50 years of quarterback, great quarterback play. Damn. You're right. You're right. I don't know. I think the thing, because Sean McVay, look, they got to be lockstep and barrel, because Sean McVay got final say. Got a lot of say. Sean McVay is just not a guy that's, oh, he the coach, and he ain't got no say. He got a lot of say. Yeah. So, I just don't think that was, that was, his body language which is mannerisms with that pick, you can tell that went over his head. The Rams became the first team to have a quarterback win the MVP, then select the quarterback in the first round of the subsequent NFL draft since the Green Bay Packers did in 1967.
1:21:23Shannon Sharpe:The Bart Starr won the award in 1966, and then Green Bay drafted Don Horn 25th overall the following year.
1:21:34It don't make no sense to me. it's a pick that makes no sense to me because Matt Stafford with the way he's playing at MVP level at 30 years old ain't no telling when he's going to give up ain't no telling when he's going to stop and people say oh his back was hurt in training camp last year the devil is a lie wasn't nothing wrong with him he threw 45 touchdowns now you know good and well we got load management in the NBA right okay you know what my back hurt I don't really need training camp. I know what to do. We talk about Matt Stafford. He's played a lot of football. Ain't nothing wrong with his back.
1:22:14I mean, if you know, you know. I know what you're doing. You don't want training camp. You don't want to.
1:22:25Shannon Sharpe:No, when you look at it, when you look at it, I understand. And I think the thing is, the people said, this is the problem Green Bay ran into because instead of drafting somebody that can help Aaron Rodgers right now, you drafted a quarterback that was going to be two, three years away from playing. They see this as a very similar situation. I mean, what player that you thought they were going to be able to draft that was going to come in and say, okay, I mean, you got Devontae, you got Puka, you got Kyron, you got – I'm just trying to figure who they – I mean, defense, they're loaded. They're loaded up on two corners.
1:22:58Shannon Sharpe:The safeties are solid. The linebackers are really good. The D-line is outstanding. you got Burse, you got Young you took the, I forget where the lineman was from, from Florida State Fisk. I'm just trying to figure out, Ocho, I mean who do you think they could have taken that's going to come in right now and be a key contributor to this team?
1:23:21You know what? You know what? I do want to take something back too. I want to take something back. Because the supporting cast and the defense is so good with Puka and Devontae Smith, you could probably, you probably could plug Ty Simpson in. Probably could because the supporting cast around him is so goddamn good. McVay is such a genius when it comes to play calling and being able to play to his player strength. So whatever weaknesses Ty Simpson may have, maybe he can go in there and be efficient and be good. He won't be Matt Stafford. No, no, no. But I'm saying he will have time to develop. No, he will have time to develop and get better playing behind an MVP caliber, Super Bowl winning quarterback.
1:24:07But I'm just basing everything off what I saw in college, Joe. That's all. You was okay at Alabama, but the bottom dropped out towards the end of the season. You know? That's all I'm saying. I don't know.
1:24:22Shannon Sharpe:Check this out, guys. Because he was drafted 57th overall, Logan Jones will receive a lifetime supply of ketchup from the Kraft Heinz company. Jones didn't know the incentive of the draft slot until he was informed on Zoom after being selected. I love it. I'll take as much as I can get. Let's go, ketchup. He was draft 57? He was draft from Heinz 57. Yeah, yeah. Damn. That's dope. That's mean. I mean, how much ketchup you think you guys have eaten in the lifetime? Me? You eat ketchup on your hot dog? Oh, you eat your hot dog's plain. Yeah, I eat Michael Izzy's plain, huh? Even my french fries. When I go to McDonald's, I make sure I lightly salted.
1:25:13Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all ain't never had ketchup on your chips, like your Lay's chips or nothing like that? When I was younger. You gonna do it now? You put hot sauce on them, Joe. Yeah, we put hot sauce. You put ketchup on your chip. Yeah, man. Hey, I like me some ketchup now. Ketchup on your chips. On some Lay's, on some Lay's chips. We used to put... I like Lay's. We used to put peanuts in Coca-Cola. Remember we put peanuts in the bottle, Joe? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you guess what? You drank all the Coca-Cola, peanuts stuck at the bottle. You never get them out. Hold on. Wait. Where they do that at?
1:25:49Shannon Sharpe:Peanuts in your Coca-Cola? You have a Coke, you know, Coke, those bottles. so you put peanuts in them. Yeah. Yeah. You ain't never did that, Ocho? What did I do? Hey, hey. I know y 'all did that. I know good and well y 'all put peanuts in y 'all Coca-Cola. Hey, y 'all ain't never mix popcorn with your chips. Yeah. Ocho, you ain't never mix popcorn with your chips. Nah, I ain't never heard of that, Joe. We had a... I ain't never heard of this. I forget. What is it called? Gorp? But they put popcorn, peanut and plain M &Ms and raisins. we did that was what you call them that wasn't us that was their parents
1:26:34Shannon Sharpe:first of all you wasn't getting no M &M's you wasn't getting no popcorn you damn sure wasn't getting no Razor you might get one of the three but you damn sure wasn't getting all three I think it's called Gorp or something but I don't know I think I was like the second or third grade and somebody's parents brought that together. I was like, damn. Y 'all living it up over there, ain't it? Man, I wasn't getting none of that. We got the Y. Y 'all remember the Y's potato chips? You wasn't getting no Lay's. You wasn't getting no Ruffles. You wasn't getting that good stuff. You got the Y with the owl on the back.
1:27:10Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
1:27:14Huh?
1:27:15Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, that's what it's called? Yeah. But they made it. It wasn't back then. I think they do it now, but they made it. Good old days. What? What you laughing at? I'm saying that's what they did. Yeah, see? Y 'all don't know nothing about that. See, what people started doing is things that we started concocting, they started making it. That's what they started doing. We were doing that. They weren't even thinking about that. Stole our ideas.
