In short
“Best of Iso Takeover Part 2” discussion covering Russell Westbrook’s fit with the Houston Rockets, Bam Adebayo’s all-time top 5 (and LeBron omission), Tim Duncan’s GOAT case, Rick Brunson’s coaching rules with Jalen Brunson, and research on Achilles injuries (mentioned as a segment theme).
Guests/backgrounds
Tony Allen (former NBA player; defensive-minded, discusses LeBron defense debate). Smooth and Pargo (NBA/hoops personalities). Jeremy (co-host). Additional guest voices referenced: Ira Winderman (NBA reporter/scout quote), Boogie Cousins (Tim Duncan quote), Rick Brunson (coach/father story), and Jalen Brunson (implied subject).
Key claims
Westbrook is a strong late-career teammate who can come off the bench and still win; Rockets should “take the gamble” despite a scout saying he wouldn’t be reliable. Bam’s top 5 excludes LeBron; list includes Kobe, Steph, Jordan, KD, Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan should be in everyone’s top five because he never had a losing season and built the Spurs. LeBron’s defense is “above average” even if he’s not always assigned to the opponent early.
Notable examples
OKC “up 3-1 vs Warriors” and KD leaving; LeBron chase-down blocks late; Duncan fundamentals vs Amari Stoudemire in a 2003 Phoenix–Spurs playoff series; Rick Brunson’s “cuss on court, not off court” rule.

2:41Okay, I got another one for y 'all then. The Houston Rockets are considered as a serious destination for Russell Westbrook. Can y 'all see Kevin Durant and Westbrook reuniting as teammates after a decade apart? Can y 'all see it? Smooth, can you see it? Mr. Fargo. Mr. Fargo. At this stage of their careers, right, no one has anything to prove. Everybody wants to play good basketball. Y 'all play y 'all older guys as well. So y 'all know what it is to be able to play basketball at a high level, at an efficient level. And I think Russ has hit that status now to where he ain't just gone. He ain't Russ of 25 years old.
3:25And Russ is one of the greatest dudes I've ever met in my life. He is, dude. All the stories about him being a great teammate. I haven't been his teammate, but I know him and been around him a lot. So that's a great dude. I think with him walking into that locker room right now with a common goal of trying to get to a championship and win at this stage, especially older, I think it's a great place for them because they've been able to point guard for a long time. So you find Russ, and if Russ is cool with coming off the bench, I don't think you can get a better backup point guard than that. Hell no.
3:54I mean, think about this. You know, you think about all the great times that they had in OKC, and obviously they came up short, being up 3-1 against their Warriors team, and then KD goes and joins. Man, they have to think about those times and be like, what if? You know what I mean? What if we would have stayed together? the hell, we probably would have at least got one. You feel me? So, I wouldn't mind seeing Westbrook team back over KD and Houston, bro. I think he'll bring them a totally different dynamic at that point guard position, because guess what? You know what you're going to get from him every night.
4:24He's going to play hard as I don't know what. He's going to defend. You know what I'm saying? And he understands playmaking. You know what I mean? KD ain't had one. Boom. Let me find big fella. Let me get him an easy one. You know what I'm saying? Dump down to the other big fella. You know, I think he makes the game easy for everybody. He just got to keep his turnovers down. And we keep it at 100. I think them having what's his name back, Fred back, will make that easier for Russ. Russ can play with you on the ball, off the ball. Him coming off the bench behind Fred, I think that's a great spot.
4:54I think that's a great spot for Russ. Russ can play basketball in that system. And like I said, man, we all older. Russ is older now. He don't care about all the other shit that was going on when he was young. Right now it's about winning and playing basketball the right way. It is, bro. Check this out, though. One NBA scout told Ira Winderman that he wouldn't touch free agent Russell Westbrook in a million years. He said, I wouldn't touch him in a million years. You can't rely on him in his terms of what's going to happen. Yeah, he'll have you in great games, sure. But he can't shoot. He plays his own way.
5:29He's not going to fit into a system he doesn't really defend. What y 'all think about him saying that? You said that? It's different. Yeah. This guy, Ira Winderman, I guess he'll be right a reporter or something. It's been reported that this is what he said. He said he wouldn't touch him in a million. He said, I mean, yeah, he'll put up some numbers and he'll win you some games in terms of truly building winning team. You don't get him on your team. I think that's false. I agree with what we were talking about. if I'm the Houston Rockets, bro, I'm taking that gamble. I'm taking that gamble. Because, look, think about this.
6:11Even if Fred Van Fleet, I'm sure he will start the season, but, damn, he just come off of ACL surgery. Y 'all going to run him in the ground for 82 games? And what are you going to be able to get you in the postseason? Nothing. So you got to have some depth at that point guard position, guys who know how to play, guys who know and understand the game, and who can make the game easy for the guys around them. So I always think, bro, and when you look at him, because he up in age, smooth, and pargo, he always in great damn shape. And for me, y 'all know me, bro. I'm a guy who loves a guy in great shape.
6:43You're in great shape. You can play with me any day. Hey, man, I'm giving that a chance. I ain't gonna lie to you. You gotta give it a chance because I think he's talking about the young Russell Westbrook that had his own team. That Russell Westbrook, if he's still thinking that way, then I can agree with him. But I guarantee you, Russ, ain't thinking that way. This man is showing that he's willing to change. He's coming off the bench, bro. this is a hall of famer later in his career that's coming off the bench and he's okay with it how do you hear people say how much of a great teammate and a great person he is and you put that on that man name at 38 37 you put that on his career don't do it and it's a real true testament smooth and pargo that his love and passion for the game bro you know what I mean because at some point you know you keep hearing these stories about yourself, people saying creating these false narratives, man, you'll throw your hands up.
7:36Like, man, damn all this. I'm gonna move around. But he continued to fight and work for his spot, bro. So he got the utmost respect. I got a question, Smooth. What's the beef everybody got with Westbrook, bro? Why everybody be down with Russ all the time or talking down on him, bro? What's up with the disrespect? Is he the most... Okay, I'll ask you this. Is he the most disrespected guy of all times? I think so. Because in my eyes, he's the top five point guard of all time. Man. What point guard do you know that average a triple-double in multiple seasons? You know what I'm saying? That's hard to do.
8:19I think what it is is people don't like his demeanor, but how you want a player or a point guard to play at that position? You know what I'm saying? You want to dog with a little with some swagger at that position yeah i think he's the most uh understood basketball player of all time too you know i'm saying i think yeah uh he does a great job at being a family man a husband um you know i'm saying uh what he what he's doing with his kids what he's doing for his community yeah i don't know why man i mean it's kind of crazy to me to see the hate when you when you have all of those things going on on a positive note about yourself, but I don't think people like how he answers questions to the media.
9:07You know what I'm saying? It's mostly, you got to think about it, it's mostly the media that tries to paint bad pictures on him. It's not really guys that really know basketball, like basketball players or like Pargo said, teammates that play with him or guys that just cross paths with him and just got a dose of who he is as a person and his character. So I don't think that, you know, the media paints a great picture of him, but at the same time, they have to have something to say in order to, it's like clickbait, you know what I'm saying? At the end of the day. So it's like, it's a narrative that they painted on him.
9:48So it's like, why not keep saying it if I'm another reporter, you know what I mean? Right, right. It's just like Skip Bayless back in the day making his career off of bashing LeBron James. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. Because once that narrative is created and put out there, the damage is done already. You know what I mean? Whether it's true or false. You know what I mean? People are going to kind of run with it. So I get what you're saying. I get what you're saying. Jeremy, what do you think, bro? Why everybody be hating on Westbrook, bro? It's got to be something from back in the day, man, when Russ was the guy.
10:20Where, you know, when you're the guy, you have a lot more leeway to do what you want, say what you want. Yeah. and they continue to put that on them. But that man doesn't deserve it. That man has literally changed his entire career because it's been guys in the past that's fought about coming off the bench and not wanting to do this. That man has put his head down and said, I'm going to Sacramento. I'm going to come off the bench. I'm going to play for the Clippers. I'm going to come off the bench and do what I can help the team win. You can see how he is with young guys. He's helping young guys come along.
10:48He's great for your franchise at this point. He's not a problem. So I don't understand why people try and pick on him and put that on him. and I'm a Westbrook advocate right now. I'm a big fan of what Russ does, especially at this stage in his career, because he's completely changed his game to fit any system in the NBA, any team. I agree. Because he's not going to do too much. I agree. I agree. For sure. I'm a good side. Oh, yeah.
11:17Hey, move. Check this out. Bam out of bio leaves LeBron James off of his all-time top five list. Bam Lee, Brian, all, bro. Listen to his top five, Smooth. Hear me out. He got Kobe Bryant. He got Steph Curry. He got Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, and Tim Duncan. What's up with this list, bro? Bam Bam ain't messing with Brian. You got Brian in your top five? Brian, he probably mad at Brian that come down to the South Beach and mess with him. Oh, man, come on. He let him off his top five because of that? Might be a little salty, man. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, but salt kills snails, not players.
12:02You feel what I'm saying? Hello. Run that one more time. I need to say it loud for the people in the back. What do you mean? I said salt kills snails, not players. Hello. Hello. Hello. You ain't worried about it. Oh, there's my man go right there. Yes, sir. Hey, there go my boy, Jeremy. That boy on that pimp talk tonight, Jeremy. I don't know what he got. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey. of that pimp talk tonight. I'm like, hey. That ain't my lane, brother. I stay in my lane. That ain't where I live. Hey, thank you. Thank you for joining us again, brother. Welcome back. Yes, sir.
12:32You know, how you feeling, bro? How you feeling tonight? Man, I'm solid, brother. I was about to go do me a little R &B karaoke. I get a little call. I say, I got to go on here with my man. You know what I'm saying? Are you really? What am I? So what we down about? Come on, man. You know how we get down with that karaoke, man. You know where I'm going. I'm going to karaoke. Get me on the mic. Hey, listen, check this out. Man, Bam left Bron off his all-time top five list. His top five, Jeremy, is Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, and Tim Duncan. Jeremy, what's up with this list, bro?
13:06This what you starting with? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We getting right to it. That's wild. I don't think he like Bron. You know that Miami thing. Smooth say because he ain't coming to Miami. He like, man, I ain't. It's got to be that. Ain't no other reason you leave that man off your top five list. What are you doing? You think so? Ain't no other reason. I agree. I agree. Because I ain't going to lie. If I do a top five, Bron definitely in there. Every time. I don't know yet. Bam, he definitely must be salty that Bron didn't pick the Heat. Jeremy, did you think he was going to the Heat, bro? I thought it was a possibility.
13:44But I think, man, since they took them chocolate chip cookies, it was over. But you ain't have Philly. You ain't have him going to Philly. Nah, I didn't have him going to Philly, but Philly gonna give him chocolate chip cookies, so he gots to go. Hey, Smooth, Boogie Cousins says Tim Duncan needs to be, he needs to be in everyone's top five. He said, Chad, let's take a listen to what Boogie said. Y 'all, let's listen to it. I don't want to hear no top five without Tim Duncan in it. Like, I respect that, bro. Ladies and gentlemen, I respect that. That's just how I feel. I think he's one of the most disrespected, fuck the basketball part, just winners of all time.
14:24But why do you think? I mean, is it the Old Navy? Is it the Baggy Fitz? Is it the Birkenstock Sandals? It wasn't sexy. He wasn't as marketable as these other guys. He's almost like a yokich. Since he stepped foot in the L, he won. He's done nothing but win. I believe, I may be wrong, but from my mind, I think he's the most winningest player of all time. So if that's not top five, on top of all the accolades that come with it, I don't – He's never had a losing season. Damn near 2010 getting out of the car. Yeah, he's never had a losing season. That's incredible. Hey, Boogie got some valid thoughts.
15:08Smooth, what you think about that, bro? Yeah, I mean, when he put it in that perspective, you get to throwing those numbers out there. I agree. I mean, he's definitely a guy that is kind of like Steph Curry did. He helped build that San Antonio Spurs franchise, and he helped Popovich become one of those coaches that was respected for still to this day. He's definitely top five, one of those prototypical fours that was probably the best to ever do it. Oh, for sure. German. It's hard to leave that man off that list. It's very, it's hard to leave him off that list, man, because he didn't did everything you can think of in this game.
15:51And he don't get the love because he ain't loud, he ain't boisterous, but he get the job done. And ain't many people that love the hard-working guy that just gets the job done. Y 'all just have one on here, Tony Allen. He don't get the love he deserved. So that's a part of what it is, but real hoopers know what Tim Duncan did and what he means to this game in terms of you know bringing people along and teaching them the right way to do it yeah it's you know what it is man it's because he doesn't do it with a flair you know he ain't you know he just go out there the big fundamental yeah he just get it done bro like look i'm gonna tell you i played against a few playoff series against him so man and i think it was 2003 when i first got to phoenix well that's like my second year in phoenix when we had stephan marbury at the one we had penny hardaway at the two, Sean Marion at the three.
16:44I can't remember who was like four and five, but I was backing all these dudes up. But anyway, oh, it was Amari rookie year, and we played against the Spurs in the first round. We were the A-C, they were a one seed, bro. And, you know, Amari was young, but Tim couldn't stop him, but he couldn't stop Tim neither, but he was hitting them with basic stuff. Like, just turn around, jump hook, off the glass, boom, show it, up and under. But, bro, he was so technical and fundamentally sound. Like, it was awesome to watch because guess what? When he got it going and then you send a double, now you got Tony Parker.
17:20Now you got Ginobili. Now you got Bruce Boyne. You got all these other guys, and he knew how to make those guys better. So I know it's hard competing about your top five fellas, but I think it's preference, bro. It's definitely preference. Smooth, give me your top five power fours, man. Give me your top five power fours. Five power fours, I got to go. Definitely Tim Duncan. One? You putting in one? I mean, I would, yeah. Yeah, I am. I am. I am, for sure. You got Kevin Garnett. Oh, yes, I don't know. For sure, KG. Man, I got to go Rasheed Wallace. Oh, man. That's not any kind of number. I seen Shee give you about 36.
18:12I said, damn, who got Shee? Man, that big part, bro, fry me. I'm sitting there trying to wait for him to go to the hole. I'm sitting there scrambling, man. That wasn't a good matchup. That wasn't a good matchup. All right, you got Shee? Who else you got?
18:33You got to go James Worthy. Damn, old school. You got to go old school, Worthy. Yeah. Oh, man. Let me see. And Pete, your pops. I know Pete. Pete was a shooter, though. So, yeah, you got to slide him up a little further on up. So, Pete was definitely a shooter, man. Who would I say the fifth one would be? man you have to go like I'm going to have to go Carl Malone oh yeah oh yeah okay Jeremy give me your four give me your five power fours in no order it's got to be Tim Duncan I don't know how he didn't say Charles Barkley because what he was doing I'm going to take Carl Malone give me Charles man this is my list brother don't step on my list I'm going to make a trade I'm going to trade, man.
19:28I'm going to trade all up out of there, man. Get them all out of there for Mr. Barkley, Mr. Chuck himself. I got to go. I probably got to throw KG in there because of what he meant to his teams. He stepped on that court. I think you're missing Dirk a little bit, too. Ooh. And I got to round this list off with somebody. This is a wild, wild number, but he wasn't a scorer, but he changed his teams. Dennis Rodman. Oh, man. Well, you grew up a Chicago kid, so it kind of makes sense. I'm saying back then, Jeremy, when you was watching the game, did you really understand it? Like, how were you? Hell no, I didn't understand what was going on.
20:11I just knew he made a lot of noise, and he colored his hair. I didn't know what was going on. But as I got older, I was able to understand, man, that man meant everything to every team he played for. Oh, my goodness. I know MJ like a god in Chicago, bro. So growing up there, I could imagine, you know, you being immersed in it because as a kid out of Little Rock, Jeremy, I ain't missing no games on WGN. I'm catching every game every night. You know what I mean? Absolutely. Bulls was my favorite team. I know the chat going to kill me with that too, but that's okay. What's that? The chat going to kill me putting Dennis Rodman in there.
20:46I got to put the mailman in there. Hey, bro, smooth. The Bulls was my favorite team. And then when Orlando got Penny, that was like my first NBA game I ever went to. My best friend, BG, his pops. His pops took me, him, and my other best friend, Vaught. Took us to our first NBA game. It was in Memphis. Orlando was playing against the Bulls in Memphis. Scottie Pippen played for the Bulls. You know what I mean? Penny played for Orlando. He from Memphis. Oh, man. That was like, that was my first NBA game, bro. It was crazy. So I get it. When you're moving like I do, trips don't always come together weeks in advance.
21:27Sometimes production shoots, interviews, or something I've got to travel for on a short notice. Like the time when I had the last minute trip to Denver and everything came together fast. 21:59Because at that point, it's not just about getting there. It's about making the most of the opportunity in front of you. That's what I like about Prime. 24:58Rick Brunson on being the coach to his son, Jalen Brunson. Rick said, we have a rule just like Josh. Josh, you can cuss me out on the court, but if you cuss me out off the court, I'm a father, I'm going to get my damn belt. Smooth, smooth. You think you could have played for your pops, bro? You could have played for Pete. Absolutely, yeah. I was playing for him without playing. When what? I was playing for him without playing for him. He used to come back to the behind that bitch and cuss me out so smooth. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I was playing for him at the right temperature, especially in high school.
25:38you know, AAU, you know, they let your parents, especially when you cold, they let your parents kind of do a little bit you know, do what they want to do a little bit. Hey man, listen, I commend Rick Brunson, bro, because for you to be able to coach your son and Jalen Brunson, you know, for your pops to be able to coach you. Think about that. I'm watching them in the finals, bro. Is he warming up? Is Jalen warming up? His dad passing on the rock? Come on, Jeremy, man, this stuff we only dream of. You know what I mean? Yeah. And it's dope that the dynamic is what it is. You can cuss me out on the court, but I don't have to court you.
26:12I'm still your father. Like, I think because Rick played, he's bright enough to understand when and where to press and when to let up. Yeah. I think that's the dynamic. I commend Jalen more than anything because as fathers, you want to – that is a dream of ours to be able to coach our kids one day and then to be able to allow us to be able to do it. But I commend the son because for him to be able to be willing to embrace it and understand that his dad is going to wear multiple hats for him in his life, for him to be able to know which hat he's putting on at that particular moment, and for him to be able to appreciate that is big because, you know, me and T.A.
26:54was having this conversation. And I think a lot of us had these kind of issues when it comes to our sons when we want to teach them and talk to them, we're basically telling them we have the answer to the test, but it's like they want to fail the test a little bit to see if you got the answers for real, for real. You know what I mean? Yeah. I commend the son more so than the dad. You know, the dad is living out his dream because every dad will be willing and wants his son to be able to understand what they're trying to show him, you know what I'm saying, instead of them taking it personal. You know what I mean?
27:30Yeah. Man, I mean, that Knicks run not only goes down in history, but, you know, Jalen Brunson, Rick Brunson, that relationship, bro, I mean, that's forever now. You know, I mean, they won in New York, German. Come on now. We know what we've always talked about. You know, we always know New York is a mecca of basketball. They hadn't won in some odd years. You win in New York, man. Come on, man. Where are you going to put that man's statue at? It's coming soon. He might have to start in when they put it out there. society too always wants to uh once once even even in this aau space that i'm in they guys are intimidated to talk to the father they love to see the woman come around the corner with no dad you know i'm saying oh yeah they run a little game on her on it man oh no man they flipping and dipping her they they love they love to see her come around the corner you know i'm saying meanwhile the dead you gotta you gotta be able to kind of shoot shoot him straight, you know what I'm saying?
28:28The dad can see through the BS. Absolutely, but you know, when they do call the BS out for what it is, now the daddy is crazy. Yeah. Deal with him, man. He be this, that, and the third. Nah, man, this man is a straight shooter. He wants the best for his son. Yeah. Smooth. Smooth. I totally agree with you. I look at the AJ DeBasca situation, you know, his pops and his mom are right there, full circle, taking care of everything for him, taking care of everything for him. Dale Brown Jr. too, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And keep the leeches away now. Absolutely. Keep the leeches away. You know, hey, hey, hey, smooth.
29:07I may not see all of them, Jeremy. You know what I mean? But I'm going to catch a few. I'm going to catch a few. But damn, if you can help me out, you know, hey. Yeah. Because you need, I'm telling. I'm just keeping it 100, bro. I'm just keeping it 100. It's a difficult, it's a difficult, huh? I mean, people used to pull up on me. I used to give him my dad number. You know what I'm saying? They used to come, hey, man, man, what's up, man? Let me holler at you. Man, boop, give my dad number. Hey, okay, I got you. Boop, send him my dad number. I'll send him right down the street. Hey, think about this now, though, German and Smooth.
29:38Hell, now we ain't got to do nothing. I'm just going to slide in and butt a DMs. Hey, hey, hey, young man, listen. If y 'all don't think that ain't going on, y 'all tripping. Oh, yeah. Oh, no. Huh? Oh, that's going on to the 10th hour. man Jeremy you don't think that's going on bro you gotta check all the DMs TikTok I think so they got the right buffers around them they got the right buffers like you were saying AJ DeBanson with his family them kids can't even get to him and AJ is such a different kid I don't know him but from hearing him speak and understanding his demeanor I think he's in the right headspace right mind that's the biggest key bro Exactly.
30:20You know what I'm saying? That's why I love some of these young kids that got that mindset of understanding what it is and what they are. And I think one of the ones that – I think like the top five or most of the top picks of this year's draft have a strong, you know, forefront when it comes to the parents. You know what I'm saying? Caleb Wilson, his parents are – Yep. His life. And they locked in. You got the Boozers. Then you got Darren Peterson. and also like you said we just said AJ DeBanson all those guys, Mikael Brown it looks like A-cuff parents is solid and connected around him so all these guys that are being successful in this space it looks like it's coming from a two parent household or if it's not they're allowed the mom is allowing the father to be present.
31:12Right and it looks like they all great kids and for me, for a guy who really enjoys watching the game, playing the game, I mean, still to this day, live and breathe it. Like, I like seeing cats, bro, who really enjoy playing the game. Yeah. AJ love playing the game. Caleb love playing the game. Darren Peterson loves playing. Booz loves playing. Yeah. Like, I like to see that part. You know what I mean? Because the passion that you have for the game, bro, you can't hide that. Either you enjoy playing or you don't. And all them dudes, I mean, they all been having a microphone in their face for the past probably four or five years.
31:55And it's going to be all the way through the pros. And we've seen these guys work since they was in junior high school. So it's a good group. It's a good group. Good group. Hey, Jimmy Butler had a big reaction to this magic trick. Chad, watch this.
32:29I'm not going to play with snakes. I'm fucking with the wrong word. I swear to God.
32:48Smooth, you messing with snakes, bro? Yeah, I got one. You got a snake? Yeah, I got one, man. What kind of snake you got? A little python. How big is it? She big, man. She shit, pretty big. It's a big one. It's not that big. Maybe like this big around. It's big, though. It's a nice one. How long you had it? About four years. I had it when it was that size. I bet you can't go tell Jet to bring it in. You can't get Jet to bring it on camera? You want me to get it? I'll go get it. Yeah, go get it. Go get it. Go get it. Go get it, man. That snake shot you? You got a snake? Jeremy. Jeremy. Listen to me, Jeremy.
33:33Boy, there's a couple things I don't play with, okay? I'm glad he told me I was just over to man's house the other day. I bet I don't go over there no damn more. Listen. Look, man, I don't play with snakes and I don't play with spiders, bro. I'm sorry, chat. Them two things, boy, if you want to see your boy act a fool, you hear me? I'm getting on down, man. I don't play by no... Jeremy, you mess with snakes and stuff, bro? Hey, I watch a lot of snake stuff on... I got to get up. This fuck thing, she done sweared herself up because she probably was asleep. Uh-oh. But look, you see it right here?
34:09Damn! I'm finna. Oh, no. Smooth inside. Look, I'm trying to get it. Hey, hey, hey. Ooh. I'm trying to get it to come out. Look. I'm trying to get it to come out. You see how big she is? Oh, damn. She done swelled up in the dang thing. I'm saying, Smooth, how long you had that? Like four or five years. To overcome my fear of snakes, I bought a snake. Oh, hell no. I don't know what they do to that. Oh, no, sir. Hey, I'm glad you told me you had one, boy. Hey, you didn't have to meet me. Yeah, that's sad. I'm going to let her come out. I'm going to leave her alone so she can come out. Oh, my God.
34:50She's going to come out in the middle. Jeremy, you got a biggest fear? What's your biggest fears, bro? Animals? Yeah. I don't do large animals, man. I don't know. They might have had a bad day. I don't do horses. I don't do none of that. They might have had a bad day. You never know. They ain't going to take it out on me. Hey, hey, Spoo. Come on. Yeah. You ain't got no fear of no animals, bro? No rodents or nothing? Nah, them big cats, though. You know what I mean? Them lions and tigers. All that going in the cage with them and all that stuff. I'm cool on that, though. Oh, no, sir. I ain't playing with my life like that.
35:28How this man got a whole snake over there and I ain't even knowing I was over there? Well, I would not have came in that house. I'm glad I know now, though. I'm glad I know now. Damn. I'm saying smooth the kids play with it and all that. Yeah, actually, yeah. My seven-year-old, Drew, he play with it the most. He think it's so cool to go in there and pull it out by himself. He think he the bravest. He just want to show people he brave. No. Yeah. Hey, man. She want to see what's going on. Look, her head now came out. You see it? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. She about to come out. Oh, no, sir. She ain't hungry, is she?
36:09I don't know you don't know I fed her what last week she ain't hungry nah she ain't hungry I'm gonna make sure she don't take no bite she might hey my oldest it's a snake bro I remember we had a conversation about we was in Houston and Dwight had a snake and he was trying to prove it to everybody that a snake is better than a dog. People was arguing like, man, get the hell on. So James was like, man, you can't tell a snake, hey man, get the hell on. Stop. No. Move. Move. You know what I'm saying? He was like, yeah, no, you can't. But it's still the best animal. Then the next day, he had a snake.
37:02He took it out of the cage and bit him. he couldn't practice. He had to mispractice because the snake bit him. Man, my oldest, Gavin, he asked me about two years ago. He was like, Pop, man, I want a snake for my birthday. You gonna have to get the hell up out of here. There ain't no way in hell no snakes stand in here, man. What? She finna come on out now. Oh, no. I can't do it, man. I can't do it. I'm sorry. Smooth, I ain't know that, bro. I ain't know you rolling like that, partner. Yeah, man. I was slipping. Yeah, little snake of it. Hey, check this out. Little Hennessy. You say, what's her name?
37:45Hennessy. Hennessy. Hennessy. You see her? Oh, no, sir. Hey, boy. Yeah. She trying to come holler at me. She trying to get out of it now. Yeah. No, but just think about it. Anytime you put LeBron on, we can make any scenario. When they play, let's just say OKC. Do you think LeBron starting out the game on KD to risk picking up two fouls? No, he's going to stick several ocean. So you got 41 minutes of sticking several ocean. Game get tight, late down and stretching the last two, three minutes. You get a chase down block here and there. then now you get the win now you just our first team I disagree I disagree I disagree I disagree I disagree me on the other hand hey it's alright TA we gonna need you to come through on this one you can't let him get his average and he end up with 40 I get a few more episodes of that I'm gonna be in the G League you see what I'm saying that was my job that was my title that's what I had to do That's how I played 14 years.
42:48It wasn't because I had a cold crossover. You saw me smoke all the layups. Yep. But get what? I bring you not getting your average to the table every night. Let's read some comments. Yeah. Oh, I've been getting them too. Come on. I didn't disagree. I wasn't hating, man. I was just saying he's not a better defender. Smooth. What do you think about what T.A. said, bro? I'm saying. Like, what was the question? So listen. So here it is. So look, I ain't saying. You're better defender than LeBron, or what was the question? Nah, he's saying Bron ain't no lockdown defender. He's saying that, you know, when games start off, it ain't like Bron guarding KD for the whole game.
43:33It may put somebody else. They may put Bron on cephalosia so he don't pick up two fouls early. But then in the last seconds of the game in the fourth quarter, Bron get a chase down block or something, he get a stop. he's saying that ain't like, you know, that ain't first team. That ain't like, you know what I'm saying? Mm-hmm. What do you think, bro? I got snubbed a lot of times on the defensive team, so I don't know, man. Yo, hey, hey, hey, but I think... I got snubbed a whole lot. Yeah, you did, bro. But did he ever guard? When we played it, who guarded you? Well, you know, he never... to start the games off, he never guarded me.
44:15But, Smooth, that's kind of understood, bro. That's understood. That's understood because we can't – I can't – Yeah. I mean, he's making sense out of – he's making sense out of it. You know what I'm saying? Bro, when I was a rookie, Smooth, and I'm playing with Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce, Paul Pierce third in the league and scoring at 27-28 a game. Right. He the starting three. I'm the starting two. Listen, we playing against T-Mac, Vince Carter, Ray Allen. I got all these dudes for the first three quarters, bro. That's what it was. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. That's what it was. Yeah.
44:54Yeah. That was me too, though. You know, that was me. I had to guard pretty much every position that was cold. Yeah. I mean, I get what he's saying. I get what he's saying. But that doesn't mean that he's not a great defender, though. You know what I mean? That's what I'm saying, bro. That means that he has more value than a person just playing defense. Respectful. You know what I'm saying? Like, we can bank on you. Like, it's okay for you to foul out, but this dude can't foul out. Right, right. Not LeBron James. You get what I'm saying? That's what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But in T.A.'s defense, I understand what he's saying because there are times when you start off the game, hell, you don't got no choice.
45:45When we played against the Miami Heat and D. Wade, I ain't got no choice. Me and D. Wade got to guard each other the whole damn game. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? That's just what it was. So I see what T.A.'s saying, but I think LeBron is above average defender, bro. He, I mean, smooth. he 2008-2009 he finished second in defensive player of the year behind Dwight Howard 2012-2013 he finished second behind Mark Gasol I think this really would have come down to you want me to keep it real with T.A. and Bron obviously T.A. playing with the Celtics you know what I'm saying that little rivalry they had against Cleveland when he was in Bron even in Miami but out on top of that maybe even some of the things that Bron may have said about Memphis.
46:37You know how T.A. T.A. and Z-Bo out the mud. Them boys Memphis till they D.I.E. You know what I mean? Yeah, facts. Big facts. You know what I'm saying? So it can be stemming from a lot of different things, bro. You never know. But when I think about it, I'm like, hold on. T.A. just out here. He out here wilding. He must be... We gotta do a wellness check on them black trucks they ain't pull up on them? Yeah, I don't know. He must be over there. He must be on that Indica too or something. I don't know where he got going. He ain't on that Indica. He on that crush. Man, please. He ain't on that gas ain't going to hang talking like that, man.
47:14I just think, huh? What it do? Oh, there you go. Hey, what's happening? What's happening? Hey, my boy DC on fly. What's up, baby? What a new baby? Hey, what you got going, buddy? Hey, man, listen. Hey, me and my boy Smooth Josh Smith. You feel me? We just want to keep back. First of all, man, I'm with some real great ATL legends. Hello. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Hello. Yes, sir. Hey, we appreciate you. No, it's love, man. Sooner they called me. Sooner they called me and said, well, I said, boy, that's nothing. Hey, we appreciate you. We appreciate your time, bro. We appreciate it. Hey, what you got going, man?
48:00What's new? What you got? Any movies, comedy shows? What you got going? Man, we working right now. I'm going back on tour. You dig what I'm saying? Fit to go crazy. We got some short verticals finna pop off. You dig what I'm saying? So we got some more music finna pop off. You dig what I'm saying? Hey, man, I'm on that N.O.G. Hey, you don't never stop working, do you, man? No, I don't even know how to do that. I'm really trying to fit. I'm trying to put sleep into my schedule.
48:29hey man I love seeing you on Wilder now I love seeing what you doing with 85 South, you Carlos Chico bro hey you boys some real fools over there man we appreciate everything y 'all do bro we really do we been watching y 'all man since we was nigga Jets and just you know what I mean it's just an honor just every time I see you at the arena you feel what I'm saying I always show love cause I remember the times when I used to come down there and watch y 'all. I remember the time I used to come down there and watch you, J. You feel what I'm saying? So, J.P., I'm even knowing y 'all. And I'm going to still be real.
49:02Your dunk contest is still the best win. You hear me? Sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Appreciate it. I remember I took my daughter, bro, to the Hawks game, Smooth. It was about a year, year and a half ago. And I walk in there. I see DCL Fly, TI, 2 Chainz. I said, damn, did y 'all get out the same car? Hey, listen. Welcome to Atlanta, man. Welcome to Atlanta, actually. Hey, listen. Yes, sir. Hey, we're doing it right. So, Riz, I got a question for y 'all. What's up? Now that you see how the city is embracing the Hawks, bro, do you remember a time when people was coming to come see the Hawks?
49:44Has there ever been a time where folk really were just pulling up? I remember probably when Dominique was playing, but it was an error when niggas went through. I hear they were kind of pulling up for the other one names. Hey, after about, I ain't gonna lie to you, DC, after, it took us about three years. I got here the first two years, they were brutal. I ain't gonna lie to you. They were brutal. When you came, first off, Jack, when you came, it gave super excitement. Like, we had nothing. Hey, hey. That's facts, though, bitch. which, hey, that's one thing I love about it. Growing up, man, you know, man, the town wasn't in the Hawks, but Nathaniel, boy.
50:27And the crazy part about it, we want to chill for them. Like, we want to chill. You feel what I'm saying? So just seeing the energy now, like, in the arena, bro, it's like, hell yeah. Man, hey, hey. Hell yeah. Hey, look, that's how I always envisioned it, bro. You know, when I came here, like, the city jumping too hard. Bristol Capital Entertainment. It's like you have so many guys coming out. You know what I mean? Right. I just felt like. You like excellence, man. It's wide open. It's wide open for somebody to come over here and take over. Oh, yeah. So speaking of that, DC, what you think about the Hawks, bro?
51:05What our chances look like? Considering the fact. Now, we know. We need. The closeout game. Hey, hey, hey. The closeout game was ugly. We know that. We lead it along. We ain't even got to go down. Come on, Jake. By 80. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Listen, look how the Knicks did every damn body of. Okay, but look, I do say that we gave the Knicks their energy, their oomph, in the kick ass. Yeah. Ever since them two wins, we got, them boys turked up and did not stop. They did stop. You dig what I'm saying? I'm going to be real, bro. I feel like we need a real solid, I want to say big man because we got some big man.
51:46I only want to say we need a Dennis Rodney, y 'all. Yeah, you saying, yeah, we need somebody that can wipe that glass. We need somebody to go get them 53rd chance shots. Because the Hawks, we good off our first chance shot. After that, if we miss. It's a wrap. It's a wrap. It's a wrap. Hey, listen, I think the Hawks in good hands, bro. I think it's going to be a... I think we super good now. Oh, yeah. It's going to be even better. Hey, look, look, look. Hey, look. When me and you was there, you know, we was all, me, you, 2 Chainz, and T.I. 2 Chainz already, he been had, you know, his season tickets.
52:26Right, right. Hey, hey, hey, we talking about season tickets, right, Smooth? So, look. Hey, after we got through talking about season tickets, I look up, D.C. got him a damn job in there. He like, hey, I'm good. I'm trying to cut them season tickets in half, baby. Hey, buddy. Hey! Oh my God. Hey! Hey! Hey! I say, hey DC, hey. I feel you though, bro. Hey, you know what? The city, you know the city love you, bro. They embrace you. You know what I mean? Especially when you do the little halftime things, when you interview people. Yes, sir. If I'm keeping it real, DC, when we did that interview about, that was last season.
53:05Right. When we did that interview at the Hawks, everything kind of changed, bro. People started hitting me after that as far as trying to get, trying to do different things. because I hadn't done a lot of interviews and things like that. You know what I mean? Right, right. I want to appreciate you, bro. I want to appreciate you for that opportunity, my dude. Oh, man, it love, man. And, you know, that's what our platforms is for, bro, you feel me, to just cross-brand and show another side of people. You feel what I'm saying? Like, we ain't got to go talk to the other side, you feel me. We can go talk to other people.
53:34And when we had these type of conversations, bro, like, you also got to understand people don't be understanding that we really tight, we really cool. So when they see us kicking in, when they see us having these conversations and they get to hear our intellect, they like, oh, that's who these folk really is. Oh, it made me respect they game way more. You feel me? So anytime, OG, anytime. Oh, yeah, yeah, man. You know what? Me and Smooth might have to pull up over there on you and Carlos and Chico, man. Come on, man. Hey, man. Hey, man. Hey, man. Hey, man. Hey, man. Hey, man. What? What'd you say, Smooth?
54:09Got to go 85-ud. Yeah. That's nothing. When you ready? Hey, and my boy Nav over there, too. My boy Nav. Yeah, that's my guy right there. That's my dog for real. That's my partner right there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You showed up? Yeah, yeah. Hey, man. Hey, last time I talked to you, too, I know you were telling me about that knee. Man, you get that knee fixed? Hey, man, the meniscus is all the way good. We back in the gym. We back playing golf. Our bowl. Y 'all boy, bowl. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. What's your high? What you say? What's my high? Yeah. You know, you catch me on a good day, DC. I bow like a 220 or something.
54:54That's cool. I like that. That's cool. That's my high. You know, what about you? You like that? Like that? I got 279. Oh, man. Come on, bro. What you doing? Yeah, I'm trying. I'm trying. I'm trying to get that 300, man. That's my goal. Oh, man. You. Hey, hey. Hey, Smoot, he one of them dudes. You don't want to go bowling with him, bro. I got a shark. He got a bowling ball. He got a bowling ball. Oh, he got six bowling ball. He, okay. It depends on how the lane is. I got to adjust. Hold on. So you in bowling leagues and all that? It depends on how the lane is. I got to adjust, man. You feel me?
55:26Yeah, yeah. I like the whole school.
55:33Hey, y 'all was a hell of a team, bro. Hell of a team. What? Well, because y 'all, hey, hey. I know we won seven games with y 'all and y 'all end up winning. After we took y 'all seven, Cleveland took them seven, and then y 'all won it in less than six. We kind of hang our head on that, bro. We didn't have a chance in Boston, but in the A, y 'all are legends. I'm already known. I'm already known. I'm still mad at you, bro. You ain't had to do my man Leon Poe like that, man. Oh, hit him with... Oh, man. Hey, T.A., T.A., T.A., you know it ain't personal. It's just business, baby. You already know it.
56:12You know what I'm saying. That's how I look at that. But I say he just head came off a two ACL surgery. Killer tried to send him back to the MRI.
56:23Hey, man. T.A., you built your reputation in the NBA by locking people up. If you had to pick one player, bro, in NBA history that you wish you got a chance to guard, tell me, who would it be? I don't want to be so Cliché Mike Yeah I was thinking Mike I'm talking about that 92 Mike I'm that 93 Mike Yeah I'm talking about that one Not the one when he came back And he took the time off I'm talking about that early on Mike When he was doing all this shit Oh yeah oh yeah T.A. you on some of that smoke I would have loved it Cause I mean I think I think I would have I would have pretty much Stuck him a lot like I stuck Cole See, what Kobe, a lot of people don't know is I never let him go right.
57:07You know what I'm saying? You ain't going right on me, bro. If you go right, you might throw it on my head. But if you go left, I know if you go left, you ain't stuck with nothing with that pump fake and that step back or whatever. You see what I'm saying? Gotta stay down. And if you taking off like this, with that left hand, I might bump you a little bit and contests with my right. Josh know what I'm talking about. But what I'm saying is, bro, Back then, he gave you a little more. He was too exciting back then for the game. And I think I would have loved it. You know what I'm saying? Lock up with that excitement.
57:39Oh, yeah. I feel you. Hey, Smooth. If you had a chance, I know when you played, you let your man get by you. You know, it's just some things you can't teach. And elite athleticism. I'm like, damn, man, why you let that man beat you something and meet him at the rim? Oh, that was purpose? That was purpose? Yeah, it was on purpose, man. Dunk on me sometimes. I want to see what your athleticism talking about. Oh, that shit is a skill, huh? It's a skill. Sometimes you got to let him feel like he got you. Oh, yeah. Let him get a step on you a little bit, and then you just got to go and meet him. Oh, yeah.
58:19You were super elite at that. Hey, T.A., now, we're going to go and get to the little elephant that's in the room. You know, you've been in the headlines lately, you know, about what you said about LeBron, about he's an overrated defender. We trying to see, man. Me, the chat, smooth. We want to know what's up. Hey, so let me get this clip, bro. Hold on. So let me show you how this start out because, you know, we in a world of clip, what they call it, clip farming now, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. They got you. Yes, sir. So let me give you a day of Tony Allen, man. I do a local show called Chris Vernon Show.
58:55I'm a guest on there. and it's our Grand City Media team for the Grizzlies. And I attend their podcasts every Tuesday. So when I'm coming in, I guess the list had already came out. I'm not too internet savvy. I came in 04. We ain't had Instagram back then. So I ain't too savvy. Make a long story short, they asked me, do I want to comment on this list? I'm saying, yeah, I'll comment on this. They say, well, you might not be happy because, well, you ranked. So they go through the list, and I'm going through the list. And as you could tell, I was giving people props, like Brian Artes, like, yo, he should be way higher.
59:30I'm like, Dennis Rodman, yeah, he should be number one. Or like Gary Payton, he should be... Like, I'm giving everybody props, so there's one coming from no hating type of vibe. Right, right, right. What I was saying was, and it's really just barbershop talk, really. Right, right, right, right, right. I thought that once they got that low into the list, I'm like, damn, where am I at? Number 50 or something? That's how I'm thinking in my mind. Yeah. And so then Bron came up.
59:59And I'm like, hold on, bro. That man got 40 ,000 points. Then, look, last about two weeks ago, he going to, he been shooting at Memphis for a long time. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I ain't going to lie. Let's bring the whole elephant out. Call it what it is. He been shooting at Memphis the whole time. Right. Bron, players that come in town, you ain't really trying to kick it at Memphis. Cool, you might want to go get something to eat. But you got to get your sleep and get ready for the greenhouse. house. That's how it was back in the day. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. It just ain't that. So now you're going to kill our city on the golf course.
1:00:30Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Not only that you're going to come at my brother and say his award should have been yours. No I got to say something now because the list right here in front of my face is on point now because I could have said something when I saw his podcast. So I took it in the run. I said hold on. Let's be clear. We both on the same amount of teams. Every team he made I made. Yeah. So you ain't talking to no local joker now. Right, right, right, right, right, right, right. So I just felt like, all right, with my job every day, what I got to do, man, to come to this court, man, if I don't come here and make it difficult for the opponent's score, they going to be looking at T.A.
1:01:08like, what's your value? Right, right. So my value in that era of basketball was at the point was, don't let them get their average T.A. That's going to help our ball club. Hello. And so if I got to do that night in, night out, at limited minutes. Right. He on the court for damn near 46 minutes. Yeah. You mean to tell me if you got to play defense every minute you on the second to a guy that going to play occasionally? Well, T.A., T.A., T.A., we're not negating the fact that you do it better. We think you do do it better. But the thing is, LeBron has to do, he has so many damn jobs on the court.
1:01:47Okay, he got to score the ball. Smooth, I got to assist the ball. Damn, I got to rebound the ball. Hell, I'm leading the team in steals. On top of all that, I got to defend the number one guy the entire game. That's not possible. He can't exert all that energy and tend to these other jobs. But guess what? But guess what? I'm stepping it. But guess what? I got to do that. And if I don't do that, hey, I'm going to be playing for the Alba Bulldogs in the G League. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. And that's understood because it's like shit, damn. T.A. ain't toting all them damn jobs. But if T.A. lock in defensively and that's all you doing all night, oh, yeah, you're going to be better than him in that.
1:02:27There's no question. You saying he was hiding you on the list? Hiding me on the list. And I couldn't believe it because I'm like, damn, hold on. Man, LeBron just greedy. He won all awards, man. He's somebody down, bro. T.A., when he done, T.A., he going to have them all. He going to have them all, T.A. And one thing I can't say, because I'm locked up with LeBron, too. Like, that time he left Cleveland, that was my assignment. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Imagine, I'm not comparing myself, so he averaged 28-7-7. Let's be clear. Hello. But what I'm saying, what I did was a few deflections here and there in key moments, a few steals there in key moments, a couple contested shots where I know he stretched out by my contest.
1:03:13That's my defense, bro. And not only that, I, and no disrespect to any guy that didn't average over a dub when I was playing. But if you didn't average a dub, nine times ten, I wasn't sticking you. You see what I mean? That's a fact. I ain't not hit that bumping my gum saying no out the mud moment. Hey, man, this is really me on the barbershop. And I'm pretty sure Brian will laugh about this. And Smooth, don't you be insinuating them black trucks pulling up. I'm running, man. Hey, man. I care about you, man. I just want to do a wellness checkup, my dog. You know what I'm saying? Hey, T.A., but think about this.
1:03:52Em, you don't think Bron got no valid point, bro? He was first team all defense that year. Mark Gasol won defensive player that year. Mark Gasol was second team. He ain't got no—he got a—come on now. Hey, now listen. All right, so now listen, right? I don't know why I finished up in vote, but we talk about our peers. We talk about our peers. Yeah. Man, everybody in their mama that saw me that saw me. I said, bro, damn, we thought you were going to get that award, bro. And get what my boy Big Mark do. He going to win the ring and put grin grind on the ring. He said, hey, man, I ain't giving you my award, but our stamp was on the ring.
1:04:32I said, cool. So now Ron ain't finna come up. That's really me and Mark award. Yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, you said if you didn't get it, Hell, as long as one of your teammates got you cool. We in the game. Yeah. We in the game. Hey, man, y 'all had some hell of a squad for the Memphis Grizzlies, bro. You know, hey, man, we appreciate you for stopping by, bro. I'm going to have to come sit down with you and my boy Z-Bo, man. You know, hey, I got some real stories with me and Z-Bo, bro. Yeah, hey, man, hey, hey, listen. We want both of you brothers on there, man. I had to come up here, man, do the podcast so I can set the pick and roll for Alta Mood, man.
1:05:11Shout out to everybody, man. Follow Out the Mud, man. Y 'all keep doing y 'all things, family. Night, Captain. I'll read it. I'll read it. T.A., appreciate you, brother. T.A.
