In short

The episode is a “Best of NFL News Part 1” roundup, mainly reacting to quarterback contracts, team coaching/discipline, and NFL facilities/training.

Guests

No guest names appear in the transcript. The hosts are “Uncle Joe” and “Ocho” (recurring co-hosts).

Key topics and claims

  1. Kirk Cousins contract: They discuss Cousins signing a five-year, $172M deal with the Raiders, but argue it’s structured like a one-year, $20M fully guaranteed deal plus later club options. They emphasize it would be his 11th straight season with a fully guaranteed contract and joke about his “favor” and money vs playoff results (they cite only one playoff win).
  2. Jeremy Fowler report on Jalen Hurts: They claim Hurts is “not the most coachable,” citing that Hurts called four verticals on the Eagles’ last playoff play, resisted changes to diversify the scheme, and showed “poor body language” that teammates notice.
  3. Puka Nakua: They say the Rams urged him to grow after off-field controversies; he checked into a private facility to focus on health and development.
  4. 49ers training staff grades: They claim the 49ers added PTs and invested in hydro/cold plunge areas after NFL PA report-card grades were poor.
  5. Miles Garrett contract tweak: They discuss Cleveland modifying language to make trading easier, while Andrew Barry says they won’t trade him. They speculate about potential destinations (e.g., Philly/Dallas) and argue Cleveland’s roster needs are bigger than keeping Garrett.

2:47Shannon Sharpe:That button right here. Come for the sports, stay for the story.

2:55Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe! What's up, baby? Kirk Cousins signs a five-year, $172 million deal with the Raiders. In reality, it's a one-year,$20 million fully guaranteed deal that also combines a club option for two years at$80 million. The Falcons will pay Kirk Cousins $8.7 million this season. The Raiders$1.3 million and Las Vegas, excuse me, the Raiders will also play another$1.3 million. That's$10 million. Vegas also agreed to play the new quarterback, a fully guaranteed$10 million roster bonus on the third day of the new league year in 2027. Most notably, it also sets another new mark. It'll be the 11th straight NFL season in which Cousins has had a fully guaranteed contract.

3:47I told you, Uncle Joe. Well, God has favor. God has favor for certain people. Obviously, timing for Kirk Cousins has always been impeccable. Along with him betting on himself, Unc, when he was in D.C.? Oh, that's how y 'all want to play? You know what? I'm betting on myself. And every time he hit... Hey, he hit big every time. He hit big in Washington. He hit big in Minnesota. Hell, he hit big in goddamn Atlanta. And lo and behold, here we go.

4:17Shannon Sharpe:Right back up. Right back at it again. Ooh. And that's a good security blanket for them, too, huh? That's a good security blanket. Nice bridge. Nice little bridge to Mendoza. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Very nice. Is he going to start, though? No, no, no, no, no. I believe Cousins do start. You think so? For the first probably five to eight games. Think about it, Ocho. Guess who his coach was in Minnesota? quarterback coach. Yeah. Clint Kubiak. Who the head coach of Vegas? Ocho, remember when you and I first started? I said, that's why you don't burn no bridges. You see how that works? Because them guys go elsewhere.

5:00Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. Think about it. All them coaches that I had in Baltimore, Rex Ryan got a head job. Marvin Lewis got a head job. Jack Del Rio got a head job.

5:14Shannon Sharpe:All those guys Mike Nolan, head job Yeah Mike Smith, head job So all you gotta do is Play your cards right, don't be no jerk And guess what They go get somewhere, you know what Good veteran mentorship, leadership in this locker room Let's go get old Ocho Let's go get Joe But guys don't think like that all they think is in the present here right now where I am right man please either he got good luck or he got favor or he knows something about somebody he got some information on somebody they just keep giving the weed ball hey he hit them across the head hey I'm calling Mike I need a favor I know you done hired a lot of people I need a job 84, what you want to do?

6:11Shannon Sharpe:Where you want to be? Sean McVay was on his staff. Kyle was on his staff. Kevin O 'Connell. All them guys. LeFleur. I can do something. Let me be community relations. I can do something, yo-cho. I don't want to do no coaching. I don't want to do no coaching. Community relations. You got no patience for no coaching. The hell nah. Get your money first, cousins. Kirk Cousins contract history. Four years,$2.57 million. And then he played that contract out, Ocho. And then he had a one-year, basically$20 million deal. And then he had the next year, fully guaranteed Cousins franchise tag. And then he had a one-year, basically$24 million deal.

6:55Shannon Sharpe:And then he signed a three-year,$84 million deal. Fully guaranteed, Ocho. And then he signed a two-year,$66 million deal, Ocho. Fully guaranteed, that is. And then he signed a one-year, Minnesota,$35 million, fully guaranteed, Ocho. And then he signed a four-year,$180 million, with$100 million guaranteed, Ocho. And now, five years,$172 million, with$20 guaranteed. And guess what? So, five, six, nine, 11, 12, 13. So, what is this? This is 15th year, 14, 15th year? 14th year. And Grant told him, 14 years, guess how many playoff wins he got on show? Drum roll, please. What? Man, get out of here. One, my boy.

7:48Shannon Sharpe:He got one. Alec Roman tweeted, Kurt Cousins had earned more money in football than Michael Jordan did playing basketball. More than Tiger Woods earned in playing golf. More than Serena Williams playing tennis. His career earnings from NFL contracts exceed the entire net worth of Meryl Streep, who's won three Academy Awards and been nominated 21 times. It exceeds the entire net worth of Martin Scorsese. Also, nearly identical to Tom Brady, who won seven Super Bowls. Cousins won playoff win. Off win. hey he don't have no playoff win Joe but boy he won the Super Bowl with that bank account he in the Hall of Fame with that bank account absolutely I don't know who his agent is but they might need to look at him you talking about Cousins got favor he got favor but Joe Cousins numbers will put you in the blender during the regular season give him He's a dope boy.

9:00He's surgical with that ball.

9:04Shannon Sharpe:Damn. Hey, Kurt sitting at the house, he's chilling. Feet kicked up with everything. Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah, he is.

9:18Very, he's very religious too. Is he? Oh, yeah. Very. Good God for you. That's why I say you got a favor now.

9:32Shannon Sharpe:Derek, how you say it? Chisora? Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder had their pre-fight press conference today. Let's take a listen to this, Joe and Ocho. Wow. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. I'm going to tell Derek I hope he brings his heart because I'm going to take that too. How does he do that and how do you stop that happening? He took my heart a long time ago when he said he busting out on his baby mama and busting out on his stomach. When I came, I used to come on her stomach. I had a good nut, and I nut her on her stomach. I was like, wow. I was like, Jesus.

10:11Shannon Sharpe:That was from Deontay Wilder had an interview on Piers Morgan. He said what he said. He said his baby mama used a syringe, allegedly, impregnated herself, and that's how he had the child. That's what he alleges. I don't know if that to be true I don't even know if that's the truth but that's what he alleged on Pierce Morgan's show so he said that and you know anytime you do an oppressor Ochoa you trying to hype a fight you say some outlandy stuff Chisora said hey I don't know hey me boy they couldn't have sent me to Guantanamo Bay waterboarded me with the CIA to get that up out of me hell no Hey, you know, that's natural.

10:56You know, it's natural, man. It's natural. It's natural. Hey. You got to put it somewhere. What's natural?

11:02Shannon Sharpe:Just because you put it somewhere, you got to tell somebody where you put it, Ocho. That's the point. I mean, hey, you right. You right. You know, but where else you going to put it? But considering what you are, what all you done, old Tongue Fu master, so we're enjoying it. I don't put nothing past you. Hey, I'm sure we've all conducted... No, no, no, no, no, no. Don't do that. No, no, no. We all, ain't no we all. You speak in singular terms. You. No. No, ain't no us. What the hell you mean us? Nah. You speak for your Joe, too. Nah, nah. Don't be Joe nothing. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, y 'all, y 'all, y 'all, hey, I know y 'all, you know, your image is different.

11:41Mine. I'm a wild person. I'm a wild boy. So this is expected of me. But y 'all, I'm going to let y 'all stay clean. My bad.

11:48Shannon Sharpe:Nah. Nah, nah, nah, Ocho. Don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Hey, Joe, what you trying to do, trying to be guilt us in, when y 'all go ahead and say, I don't, don't, don't. Boy, please. I already know. It doesn't matter where the nose goes when the nose goes. I mean, it's all sex. When you close the door, Ocho, it's all sex. I get it. But there got to be limits. They got limits on speed. No, no, no, no. They got limits on how far a plane can fly, unless you got a B-52 or one of those AWACS that can refuel Air Force One that can just keep refueling. But everything got limits.

12:28Shannon Sharpe:Cars got limits how fast they can go. Planes got limits on how far they can travel. You ain't got no limits in the bedroom. Damn! Yeah, you shouldn't have no limits. Especially not in the area. Not in the area. You gotta slow down, Turbo. I done slowed down. I've been as slow as possible. I'm 58 now. Shoot, I ain't what I used to be. Joe, can I throw a flag on the plate? I want to challenge you. Everything that you see. This man here. Listen, I'm just telling you about my experiences, man. I'm not the same. I just slowed down a little bit, man. I really can't. I don't move like that no more, man.

13:09Shannon Sharpe:Man, I'm just saying, Ocho, man. Come on, man. Dang. Ain't nothing wrong with a little on the palm of me. Yeah, it is. No, no, no, no, no, no. All right. That's neat to hear that. Hey, but I'm saying, what made them say that during a press conference, though? I guess, look, allegedly, supposedly. We got to use, Joe, we got to use allegedly and supposedly. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Do y 'all like, do y 'all see that? Allegedly running on the street.

13:47So, allegedly, supposedly, when he started losing,

13:53Shannon Sharpe:I guess the lady that he was seeing with his fiancee or wife or whatever the case may be, she went a different direction. Now, that's the story that he's telling. I don't know. And I guess she started seeing some NFL player. But allegedly, I want to be a heavy. I want a heavy emphasis on the allegedly. Right, right. Damn. So, something you just keep to yourself, man. Hey, when is that fight? Is this weekend or long? We're going to be live after the fight. So make sure you... Hold on, who ain't fighting? Chisora, Derek Chisora. man it ain't been looking that good for a while in these past few fights damn

14:56damn

15:00I hope we get this one off man I hope we win this one I hope we win this one I hope so too

15:08Shannon Sharpe:but I mean... I know one thing, if Wilder catch him with... If he catch him with that guy, we gotta stop that. Everybody stay and holler, catch him with the right. Wilder got the box. Yeah, what happens when dude catch him with the right? Every fight I've seen in the past few fights, it ain't been good.

15:39Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You got to be a foundation, Ocho. I mean, I seen bigger legs on a piano. I mean, he ain't got no foundation. Man, hey, they say that man is 6 '7", 215. He is. He's a basketball player. Yeah. Hey. Hey, Joe, but he can crack. The problem is, hey, he got to catch you, though. Yeah. You can block all you want. Sometimes that don't even help. But, hey, Uncle, he went on a run. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he was full. Everybody was eight. Like 30 straight, wasn't it, though? Until he ran into big boy. Fury. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, first of all, like you said, Ojo, he can crack. So he hit Fury with everything he had with the right.

16:23Shannon Sharpe:And then when he set up in the room like Undertaker. When he set up the room like Taker. Like Undertaker? I mean, he was flat. That Joe set up. I ain't never seen him. I never seen nothing like that. Like Jason. You know Jason Boyd? Hey, Jason Boyd, he sit up and look around? Yeah.

16:39Shannon Sharpe:then what you do I mean you hit somebody with everything God would allow and that man sit up they gotta be demoralizing man what the hell it's kind of like what Big George said when he's doing the rumble in the jungle he said he was hitting Ali a wound he said Ali leaned in closer that's all you got Big George that's about it Yeah, I'm on fuse right now. Hey, that Rumble in the Jungle was different, boy. Yeah, yeah, Ali Bumbaye. Man, what? Hey, our coach, Larry Drew, he played that right before a playoff series one day. As a matter of fact, it was a playoff series when I was playing here for the Hawks and we played against the Celtics, who was a one seed and we was an eighth seed.

17:32Shannon Sharpe:We watched that whole thing, bro. Oh, y 'all watch the Rumble in the Jungle? Yeah, we watch the Rumble in the Jungle. Boy, Ali is something else. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he nice, boy. Ain't nothing like getting a fight. Hey, watching a fight, watching a movie scene, a war scene. Yeah. When them jokers storming the beach and they spraying. 22:14Shannon Sharpe:That thing gets you hot, Betty. A source within the Eagles organization believes Jalen Hurts is not the most coachable player per Jeremy Fowler. Yeah. Body language, not always bought in, not the most coachable, and the players notice. Key notes from the Fowler report. Hurts was the person who called four verticals on the Eagles' last play of 2026 NFL playoffs. not Petula wanted to avoid playing under center reluctant to let it rip at times particularly against zone coverage push back on changes that would diversify the scheme poor body language not always bought in diverse from the game plan and changes play calls to the excessive degree not the most coachable teammates notice according to Fowler hurt stands at a crossroad Despite his immense success, sources say he had a hand in the Eagles' offense becoming calcified and frustrations have grown.

23:22Shannon Sharpe:Now, I know Eagle fans going to beat Ochoa and I love about this. He ain't make this up. I don't know if y 'all know who Jeremy Fowler is. They better know. But if you don't know, it came from that building. Yeah. It always comes from the building. and another thing I mean I don't like the nitpicking about you know mannerisms and body language because his body language has always been like that he's one that doesn't show much passion doesn't show much excitement he doesn't smile much you see how he does his interviews everything is really really really serious that's just who he is before you go any further Ocho we take the stoicism what about the most coachable what about that that's a good one and especially being a quarterback being a quarterback that's had success being a quarterback that's already won a super bowl i mean in in a way in in order to win and have that kind of consistency that they did have don't you have to be coachable in a sense maybe last year that might have been okay you know what i don't like the tool of system i don't like what's going on i want to simplify things you know to my liking when i get plays that come in and it's something that i don't like i'm going to change it.

24:37So I could probably see maybe this season not being coachable because he's wanting to do things his way.

24:45Shannon Sharpe:All I'm going to say is this here. You didn't know this. Nobody know this. Jeremy Fowler is reporting it was Hurts who called the four verticals on the Eagles last play of 2026 in the NFL playoffs not Petula. Who knew that other than the damn They have coaches. That's it. Other players. So for Jeremy Fowler to get that, cause y 'all, they gonna beat us up Joe. You ain't gonna get too much pushback. But Ocho and I gonna get pushback. How would this man know that? Everything, it always come from in the building. Always. Inside stores. No matter who you are, it's gonna get out.

25:27Shannon Sharpe:But ain't nobody gonna take the blame though. Y 'all know how it go. It's somebody talking to them reporters. All I know is this. Me and Ocho best friend. You the guy. It's been reported, I think, that he's one of the godsons. AJ Brown. AJ's kid. How you fall out with that? You're one of the reasons that I came. I came to Cincinnati to play with Ocho. And now all of a sudden, I want to leave Ocho? Even after I won a Super Bowl. Yeah. Been to 2-1-1. Nah, I'm good, cuz. Let me go. Something going on over there. AJ see that system It ain't working out for him man AJ like man I can't get my numbers I can't catch no balls You know how AJ thinking Okay I got my ring So shoot from this point on I'm trying to get the numbers right Hello AJ say y 'all got people thinking I'm some sauce out here now That's what y 'all thinking I see what JSN doing I see what Puka doing I see what all these other receivers doing y 'all got people thinking I can't play no more AJ washed AJ can't run nothing but this I'm telling you how AJ thinking yeah same thing slant, curl, deep ball left side of the field sluggo that's it they got him running three, maybe four routes He's running the rail.

27:01Shannon Sharpe:Hey, he going deep. He's running nine right. He on the left-hand side, two yards outside. He's running rail. Every time. He's running the goal ball.

27:12Shannon Sharpe:Right side, he's going to run the dig or he's going to run the shallow. Or the slant. In third and short, he's running the slant. Yeah. And if they put him in a two-by-two, what's he called? Hey, somebody go run the clear angle back up underneath. the under route. Hey, because when you think about it, though, I think it's because Saquon didn't have as great of a year as he had the year before, which hurts AJ. Does it hurt AJ because of that? But here's the thing. If Saquon's not running, if they got an extra guy down to stop Saquon, come see your boy. A pass game should be wide open, Joe. The offensive line was a little beat up.

27:53Shannon Sharpe:The big Lane Johnson dealt with injuries all year. Dickerson dealt with injuries all year. the center Juergens dealt with injuries all year. The right guard wasn't as good as Makai Beckton. So yeah, it goes hand in hand. But they're saying, hold on. Damn, we got a quarterback. We paid him top dollar. So even if Saquon not running, what they got to do with anything?

28:22Shannon Sharpe:You making $50 million a year? I don't want to hear nothing about Saquon. You got to get it done. I don't hear about no Charles Barkley, no Saquon Barkley, no Iran Barkley. I don't hear none of that.

28:36Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you know how these organizations think. Oh yeah, absolutely. Don't tell nothing about that what's not working. We paying you to do your job. And when something's not working, that means you lift your level of play and bring us home. That's it, especially when you're making that kind of money. They don't want no excuses. They ain't trying. Well, what? They ain't trying to hit. nothing nothing it's going to be very very interesting to see the Rams have been urging Puka Nakua to grow as a person after a series of controversies off the field over the past year and now he's taking steps to do that Puka has checked himself into a private facility his attorney confirmed today to focus on his health, personal growth and overall development Nakua checked himself into the facility on his own and will remain there until he completes the program of head of the Rams OTAs that start in a few weeks.

29:32Shannon Sharpe:Yes, sir. If you could offer him some advice, Joe, then you can take it. What would you say to Poole? I mean, understand the opportunity you have that's in front of you. Understand how valuable you are to the Los Angeles Rams. Understand how hard you work to get to where you're at. Understand all the adversity, all the obstacles you had to overcome to get where you are. and remember that and don't forget it I think maybe Puka might be a little comfortable because of the success that he's having enjoying himself a little too much it's okay to enjoy yourself Joe Uncle Joe, it's okay to enjoy yourself hell, I enjoyed myself but I also knew what lines, not the cross off the field what'd he do?

30:17Shannon Sharpe:off the field check yourself in TJ TJ, TJ, who's Mazzotta? Now, allegedly, he likes to party. Yeah. And, you know, the recent event that came out about the young lady, he didn't look in the greatest control of himself. He bit on the buttocks. Man, this is why I told the Washington kid who was just on from Arkansas. So, like, man, don't ever forget how you got to where you're trying to get to. You feel me? Whether it's NFL, NBA, I don't care what it is. Man, have tunnel vision, focus on yourself and your craft, and leave all them distractions alone. I promise you. Boy, hey, because the devil going to be working.

31:08Shannon Sharpe:He going to be working. I'm talking about he going to be working overtime. You hear me? That's why you got to stay locked in, bro. Like, I try to, you know, especially young cats who coming into being a professional you have to understand yep it's a lot that comes with that it's a lot that you're going to enjoy but it's some stuff that's going to come with it man that it ain't going to be too tasty at home and so i think that's the biggest thing he put himself in you know um and the thing that i that i've learned uh uh uh is that it's okay to not have an opinion about everything publicly.

31:46Shannon Sharpe:He's young and he got caught being on someone's stream and they said some things that kind of got him in trouble. I don't really fought him for that. He didn't really know what that meant. But you got to be careful. You really have to be careful in situations like this.

32:09Shannon Sharpe:It's just It's tough, man. It's tough. I think it's harder nowadays, too, fellas, than it was back. Yeah, you got more distractions. You got way more distractions. And it seems like everything gets seen nowadays. Oh, there's cameras everywhere, Joe. Everybody got a camera. There you go. You think you talking on the low? You think, man, please. Yeah.

32:37Shannon Sharpe:It's, I just, hey, I just, you know, I just hope, because like I said, I've only been around him once, but he was fun. Like I said, I haven't been around him in a football setting. It was a very laid back, the all-star game, celebrity all-star game in Indy. He's a phenomenal talent. He's one of the two or three best receivers in all of football. He shows up, he's put the work in, and he's in line. I believe he's going to reset the market. JSN got what he got. I believe he's going to come and get$100 ,000,$200 ,000 more than JSN. He's that good. He's as good as advertised. Absolutely.

33:19Shannon Sharpe:But I think a person that could give him some great advice, go talk to Playmaker. Yes. Go talk to the Playmaker.

33:34Shannon Sharpe:don't lose sight. The main thing is the main thing, football. Football. Football is the main thing and you got a great opportunity. You got an opportunity to sit about three generations up for the rest of their lives.

33:52Shannon Sharpe:I'm glad he's getting hopefully it works. I know everybody's PR. I don't care. He go in there. I don't care if they don't have him reading books right let him go in there get an opportunity to think about what's been done some of the things that he's done some of the behavior that he just played get that rectified and know you know hey without consequences there can be no lessons learned

34:26Shannon Sharpe:it's really simple

38:09Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, this is going to be right up your alley. John Lynch said the 49ers dug deeper into the NFL PA report card in which team training staff grades were relatively poor. The 49ers found that players wanted more one-on-one attention. So guess what they're doing, Ocho? Hiring three more PTs, investing$9 million in hydro areas, clove punch and pools, which had graded low at the team facility. Okay. This is why they don't want them out, because they don't want that report out there. Instead of like, oh, man, I can't believe they did this, they did something about it. What did the NFL do? See, the NFL don't want no negative grades, so they suppressed that.

38:48Shannon Sharpe:whoa whoa so we're getting real pro football focus grades that's an independent party Ocho I want us to get back in good grades with the NFL so I'm going to shut up I'm picking up what you put down but obviously this is a good thing this is a good thing for the players when it comes to the 49ers they already have a bad rep when it comes to injuries they've had a bad injury history over the years obviously I like what Fred Warner said when he came on the show when we were down there in San Francisco and debunking the fact that it had anything to do with the power plant the fire plant that is sitting adjacent he just said obviously it's football it's a barbaric sport injuries do happen but what the 49ers are choosing to do and adding 3PTs and cold plunge and things like that to see if they can help reduce some of these injuries that they are having in season is a great thing.

39:48It's a good thing.

39:50Shannon Sharpe:My bad. They don't already have all this, Uncle Ocho. They're adding more. I would have thought they did. That goddamn Bengals facility, you hear me? I don't know how much money they pumped into that. Hey, Joe, the locker rooms? I ain't never seen nothing like that, Joe. I ain't never seen nothing like that, boy. It looked like you... look like I don't even know how to explain it. I don't even know how to explain it. I just I've never because what I'm used to when I walked in the locker room Joe. Yeah. You know and what I when I went in the Bengals locker room now like today I like man it's almost unfair.

40:26Shannon Sharpe:Oh Joe. It's almost unfair. Hey you ever been to the Hawks practice facility? The one they got next to Emory? Yeah. I've never been to it but I saw it. I went and looked at it. I'm like okay y 'all did it now. It's nice It's nice, Joe. Oh, man. Ocho, every time I go in there, because I do a lot of work with the Hawks, I get pissed off every time I walk in there. Why y 'all had it when I was here? Man, when I was playing here, we got one. Listen, at the arena, at State Farm Arena, it was called Phillips Arena back in the day. It's one small practice court inside the arena. That's what we practice at every day, bro.

41:02Shannon Sharpe:Like when I walk into they practice facility now, Ocho, I'm talking about state of the art, partner. You hear me? I'm talking about everything, the bells and whistles, they got it. I'm talking about, man, listen, I'm thinking about getting me an intern with the strength and conditioning coach, man, just so I can go in there and work out. You know what I mean? And keep the guys right. Yeah. What? Hey, I want to be nosy. I should have asked somebody how much, you know, Mr. Brown and the Brown family poured into the training room, the locker room, the weight room, the nutrition, the cafeteria. hey Joe it's like walking in some five star hotel when you talk about the bells and whistles with all the lightning charging stations

41:46the players lockers everything all lit up with the name and I'm like big old comfy chairs

41:55Shannon Sharpe:hey Joe unbelievable the training room with the pools I mean listen I didn't spend no time in the training room the only time I went in there was at halftime nigga the IV, when it was hot, because I would always cramp on my calf muscles. I mean, I was jealous. I was jealous. I am too. I am too. I ain't gonna lie. I've been there, yeah. Man, look here. They got all these dip tanks and infrared. Yeah, yeah, the infrared thing. They got cryo. Yeah, they got all that. The Broncos got like two or three cryo tanks, and they got all these infrared saunas and infrared beds. And stuff to put on your head.

42:30Shannon Sharpe:I still don't understand that. Those cold plunges. They got like three, four cold plunges. They got saunals, steam room. Hey, you understand that? They got three of those infrared, what you call it? Infrared saunals. Yeah, they got three of them. What the hell, what is that for? It's to help to, it's to help your like red blood cells for recovery. So it's like, it's like giving your red blood cells a shot of espresso. You know what I mean? To kind of wake them up. It speeds up healing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It speeds up, yeah. Hey, my favorite one is that hydro tub when they got the treadmill inside that.

43:09Shannon Sharpe:Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. You get in that water, you can get on that treadmill. Man. They take all buoyancy so ain't no pressure. Ain't nothing on the knees, the ankles, the joints. Hey, I can run on that thing all day, you hear me? Hey Joe, that's for when you hurt, right? When you hurt and you coming back from injury? Well, it ain't necessarily when you hurt. You can do it for recovery. Cause you know, just being in the water, it's like it's recovery. So they should make us get in the pool. Like we on the road, they'll wake you up early in the morning, make you go to the pool and just walk around in like five feet of water for like 20 minutes.

43:39Shannon Sharpe:That's an act of recovery. So to have a treadmill under the water, like, I mean, that was everything, bro. Hey, look, I was always fascinated. I hated that thing. Did you? Cause you know, the way it was set up, because you had a current. So you had a current going against you. And so you... Yeah. You have this man looking to turn that thing down. Let me hate you.

44:05Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe, did you like the cold tub, Joe? I ain't like it, but I used to do it. I used to do the hot and cold contrast, Ocho. Yeah, hey, Joe, I love that cold tub, boy. You know, my crazy ass, I would wait till people be in the cold tub, and I'd wait till they all in there, and I'd go jump in. I'd cannonball in there. Hey, they used to hate that, Joe. Hey, we be fighting in the cold tub. That's the first thing we tell you. Hey, man, don't get in here splashing all that water, man. You need to sit down and be still. Because when we first started, you know, our cold tub was trash cans. Huh? Tartrofs.

44:37Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah, no cold plunge, no taste. Nah, sit your ass in a big-ass rubber-made trash cans. You serious? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I remember that. Damn. At home, that's what I did. I went to a farm store, a feeding store, and got me a cow trough. At home, that's what I had. I would go to a convenience store, get me 10 bags of ice. Ice, okay. And then I was like, you know what? Then I bought me an ice maker that made 200 pounds of ice. There you go. Put that in there, yeah. Now you're cooking with grease, boy. Yeah, yeah. I had everything. I got the Normatek boots, and I got a game ready. I had all that stuff.

45:24Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I had a laser. I let somebody borrow it and they never gave it back to me. Tony Banks. Oh man. I got that infrared sauna in my yoga studio. God damn, Tony. I'm about to come down and do no yoga. You got one in the studio? Yeah, I got cryotherapy in the studio. Ocho, we ain't playing, man. You gonna come out of there glowing, baby. Eyes gonna be like this here. Yeah. Hey, you got, hey Joe, you got money, boy. Here we go. I'm just saying, I only seen stuff like that in the movies. It ain't about having no money, Ocho. You know, it's just being, it's about being intentional and proactive. There you go.

46:02Hey, you know how you be intentional and proactive, Joe?

46:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. By having money. What the hell are you talking about? What do you get this dude from here? Who raised this dude?

46:16Hey. Oh, man. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Joe and Unc. Hey, hey, check this out real quick, right? What's up? What do you call friends That eat together Like you know friends What do you call friends that eat together

46:32Shannon Sharpe:Friends that eat together Yeah Hmm Friends

46:42Shannon Sharpe:Friends that eat together Friends that eat together Damn

46:54Shannon Sharpe:What you got Joe? Associates. No. Taste buds.

47:08Shannon Sharpe:Hey, listen, I've been trying to think of the most off the wall stuff. I'm like, man, I know this dude. Hey, Ocho, Ocho, they say you laugh like Kermit the Frog.

47:25Shannon Sharpe:That man got two butt. Oh, that was a good one. That was a good one. You wait till you find out what the NFL trying to do about these players' contract, Ocho, you ain't going to be laughing. We'll talk about that tomorrow.

47:40Shannon Sharpe:The Browns and Miles Garrett agreed to a modified language in his contract this offseason that makes it easier to trade Garrett. So what they did, he's supposed to get$29 million in roster bonus. On March 15th, they pushed it to seven days before the regular season starts. But Andrew Barry says the team will not trade Miles. Miles is a career brown. He's one of the faces of our organization, and I think we've been very clear past and present in terms of our feelings. I understand all the questions, but I'll be honest. I don't really want to waste a ton of more breath on that topic. yeah Ocho what does the modification to his contract where you kick I mean Miles like hold on y 'all be to tell me y 'all kick 29 million I'll let y 'all kick 29 million down the road I could have got that March 15th but now it's 7 days before the regular season so that's 7 so April, May, June, July August so about 6 months I'll let y 'all kick that down the road they gonna lie to you every time when they get in front of that camera They're going to laugh to you every time they get in front of that camera.

48:44You know exactly why you kicked that money on down the road to allow yourself room to be able to trade Garrett to a team that gives him opportunity and a chance to win for a change. Whether he's the face of your franchise or not. Whether you want him to be a one jersey team player, which he should be, but also based on what he's done, you should reward him with an opportunity to go somewhere where he can have a chance to win for a change. I mean come on now we know why you did it I hate listen one thing about them coaches and them owners and them GMs when they get in front of their camera they gonna act like a politician they gonna tell you everything you wanna hear knowing that they not gonna deliver and it's not the truth

49:23Shannon Sharpe:they hit that lie button huh they hit that lie button everything that come out of their mouth is a lie quick all the time so why you do that there's no reason to do it just leave it alone it don't change anything It doesn't make the 29 million goals away. The only thing is that that dead cap is not on your space because if you paid that money, you got to absorb that dead cap, even though he's somewhere else. Bingo. I mean, here. So now somebody else will have to pay that.

49:57Shannon Sharpe:Look, obviously he's the best player. You know what? Now that I think about it, Myles Garrett might win. He might do something. only a handful of defensive players the top 100. He might be number one. He should be. He should be. I think, I think, has any defensive player, maybe J.J. Watt, has J.J. Watt been number one? Aaron Donald been number one? Because normally it's reserved for a quarterback. I think, I think Adrian Peterson won it one year. I think the year that he came back, I think Adrian Peterson might have won it. Tyreek Hill won it one year. That's 1 ,700 yard season. Yeah, Lamar won it a couple of times, if I'm not mistaken.

50:39Shannon Sharpe:I think my homeboy, Brady's won it the most. Has a defensive player ever won the award? What did J.J. fit in? Okay, yeah. Okay, so they got two. J.J. in 2015, Aaron Donald in 2019.

51:01So. Hey, I'm missing. Miles Garrett either to Philly Miles Garrett maybe

51:13Shannon Sharpe:that might be why they hold it that's why Philly's holding on to A.J. Brown they might know something we don't know A.J. Brown over to I just said it you get you one dog get you one dog Deshaun Watson to A.J. Brown

51:30yeah

51:30Shannon Sharpe:for me look Because, look, as much as I would love to see Miles finish his career, I think I want to see him on the biggest stages. I want to see him a chance. I want to see those sacks actually mean something to someone other than himself. Because when you're playing behind and you get 23 sacks and you still win five games, you shouldn't win five games with 23 sacks. Y 'all should be in the playoffs. And just imagine what he could potentially do if his team ever had a league. Another team has to throw. I mean, the man had five sacks against the Patriots, and they got beat by 14. That doesn't normally happen, Ocho.

52:12Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you're right. Because before you know it, the game's out of hand. Now you got to throw the ball. I know you got to throw it. You know you got to throw it.

52:25But I just don't know him being there if they're ever going to win

52:31Shannon Sharpe:because there are so many holes they need to plug. Well, and honestly, the holes that need to plug on the offensive side. All the holes that need to plug. And listen, you won't be able to place Miles Garrett, but you can get someone that's competent, someone that's not going to get to hell. He's not going to get your 23 goddamn sacks, but you have so many other pieces around you defensively that are just that good. We're missing Miles Garrett. It'll be somewhat of a step back, but you still will be good. You won't be great. Right. You'll still be good, but you need so much offensively. letting him go and being able to build that offense and help your quarterback situation out is much more important than keeping Myles Garrett and winning another four or five games.

53:14Shannon Sharpe:It's a situation Ocho. The roof is leaking. The sink is clogged. The toilet's overflowing and the shower doesn't work.

53:26Shannon Sharpe:I gotta fix the problem. The problem I'm gonna fix first the toilet overflowing. I got to get that out there. I got to get that fixed. And then I work, hey, I don't want to get rained on. Shower, hey, I go take a shower in the rain. But they got so many things going on, Ocho, that Miles can't solve it. They've done a horrible job of putting people on the other side of the ball. You got Denzel. You got Grant Delpit. You got Miles. You've done a great job on the defensive side. The linebacker was working of the year. Defensive working of the year. So you've done a great job with that. How the hell have you missed so bad?

54:12Shannon Sharpe:Now, I like Harold Vandy Jr. He nice. You got something. I like the running back. Quinn, yeah. Yeah. Bro, you got to get some wide outs. Yeah, one. You need one. and when it happens I said it first so when Miles Garrett end up over there in Philly make sure y 'all come back and just replay this he might end up in Dallas

54:51you know they gonna want pickings now you got to tell me twice I just said they need a receiver I just didn't want to say no name because everybody get mad at me.

55:00Shannon Sharpe:They can get mad all they want to. I don't see them trading them to Dallas without pickets coming. You see that? It's a possibility. No, I'm saying do you see Dallas getting Miles Garrett without giving up pickets? No, no, no. That's not going to happen. Even swap. Even swap, baby. Do me right. Even swap ain't no swindle. Who you telling?

55:27Hmm.

55:28Shannon Sharpe:Man. I just want Miles the one time to play meaningful games. Yeah, meaningful football, yeah. I mean, for the most part, most greats, you know, whether they won or not, they played in them. Bruce and Reggie, Time, LT, Ray, Keighley, Patrick Willis, Aaron Donald. JJ, unfortunately, he did not get an opportunity to play at the Super Bowl. But a lot of the great – and that's what you want to see. Now, it doesn't guarantee you're going to win. But play on that big stage. Play in a championship game where rushes matter. Get three sacks in an AFC or NFC championship game. Be the difference in that game.

56:24Shannon Sharpe:Aaron Donald, those defensive player of the year, but go back and cut the tape on in that Super Bowl against Cincinnati and watch how he got down and watch how he took the game over. Especially that goddamn fourth down. All we had to do was just block him on that fourth down. He messed up the goddamn throw. But Ocho, you got to remember, on that third down and one, the guy blocking him and he grabbed the guy with one hand and stopped him from getting the first down. Damn, man. And right before the half, remember, and they got that turnover right before the half and he got that sack. I think he might come back this year.

57:00What you think?

57:02Shannon Sharpe:Hell no. You see the clips of him working out? Yeah. He's working out like he might just come back. Nah. He don't got the passion. He said it. He's like, I don't have a passion. He exhausted everything that he had. You watch him, he say, hey, my dad had me getting up early, early in the morning. He said, man, I did. I said, y 'all saw Pitt and y 'all saw the Rams, but y 'all don't realize I was doing this high school. I don't blame you. At some point in time, I mean, he still loved the game, but the passion to train at the level that he need to, to still be Aaron Donald. He can't go out there and be anything else other than 99.

57:48Shannon Sharpe:Anything else will be uncivilized. so that's the thing I think the thing is on Joe that's the biggest thing from the greats is that it's not like they don't love the game but I can't give that same level of intensity and consistency to the game I could imagine I could imagine all I know is 99 with them with them with them horns on his helmet with the ass going up and down the line turning damn it's locked they got an A They got the damn boat on there and everything. I couldn't imagine playing D-tackle too, Unk. You know, always having to deal with that goddamn double team. Double team. Oh, my goodness.

58:32Shannon Sharpe:Especially him. Hey. You already know. You go into the game, and we play guys like that. Hell, I played against Reggie. Played against Bruce. Played against DT. He not. You better find out where he is, man. And wherever he's at, that's where the double go. And the funny thing about it is Aaron Donald was able to dominate for such a long time, and he had the highest percentage when it came to being double teamed. That joke was so quick off the ball, man. I told you, Ocho, the first time I saw him, I said, man, that's Aaron Donald. I said, from Pitt? I mean, he was stocking, Ocho, but I'm talking about, you know, I thought I was going to see 6 '4", 275, looking like Miles.

59:14Shannon Sharpe:Looking like Miles. Now, he's playing solid now. but I'm like well damn when you see him he doesn't look you watch him get off the ball he quick quick you know and you think about you think about all the all the things that make a defensive tackle good you know all the different attributes he was great at every last one of them every last every last box he checked whether it was stopping the run taking on the double team being able to swim pushing the puller I mean whatever whatever the the verbiage is that you use that, you know, oh man, he's good at all of it. He can rip, he can rip, he can bull you.

59:53He can wax on, wax off. Yeah, man. And his footwork, you ever seen his footwork drills? His footwork looks like a goddamn receiver or running back.

1:00:05Shannon Sharpe:But, as I told you, listen to him talk when he was talking to defensive linemen. He said, you play on edges. He said, don't let that man square you up. You get on an edge, you put the shoulder. half a man that's it that's what we talking about on show I'm never you're never gonna put both of your hands in my damn chest I'm going I'm going inside or outside I'm getting on an edge yeah I promise you that I'm gonna get on an edge but he was he was special he was special and I think you know obviously just watching it from a distance but you know he kind of reminds you of a Johnny Randle. Ah, that's a good comparison.

1:00:47Good comparison.

1:00:49Shannon Sharpe:Johnny was undersized. You know, Johnny came in as 235-pound defensive tackle. You know how small that is? Especially back then when all the tackles were big. Yeah. I mean, to play that under tackle. He got, I mean, his hands are kind of like sap. Because if you look at Sapp, Sapp didn't play with gloves. Sapp just taped his fingers. Had tape on. Yeah. And so he did a great job of grabbing. Sapp liked to feel thread. He liked to feel cloth. So he liked to pull. What you call was great at pulling. AD. But it was definitely a pleasure to watch him play. Hi Roseman had a stock answer for every question about A.J.

1:01:38Shannon Sharpe:Brown that he fielded from the local media. I understand. There's an interest in A.J. Brown's story. I unfortunately have a home under a rock, but my answer to any question on AJ is AJ Brown is a member of the Eagles. From my perspective, anything you ask me about AJ, I'm going to write back to that answer, but I understand the interest. I put it on TV and I see there's interest, but my answer is AJ Brown is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Listen, he going to keep it politically correct. You expect him to say that. You know, he's not going to pour gasoline on the fire. You know, but we know.

1:02:20I think A.J. Brown time is up, you know, in Philly. He did his due diligence while he was there. He's frustrated with the offense. He's frustrated with his usage. I think he will be somewhere. Now, where he will be, I don't know. I don't know, but I can see the scenario. And I'm telling you right now, Chad, when it comes to me guessing and foreseeing the future on where players are going, I'm like 10 for 10. I'm like 10 for 10, Chad. Now, you know that. I really think A.J. Brown will probably end up in Cleveland and I can see Miles Garrett going to play meaningful football and being in the playoffs this year with the Eagles.

1:03:02I'm telling you. Now, if I'm lying, I'm flying. And I'm sitting right here in my chair.

1:03:12Shannon Sharpe:it's just hard for me to see a scenario where he is with the Eagles.

1:03:21Shannon Sharpe:I think there's a greater percent, a greater chance that he's not on the Eagles, that he is with the Eagles. I think what Dallas did last year was pick up Pickens after the draft. I think you know I think Dallas I think the Eagles really want to hold on to that want to hold on and see Cleveland what y 'all really trying to do now because you know we can make it worth your while are you mm-hmm we can give you AJ in two player two first or we can give you Jalen Carter in two first we can make it worth your while because we just signed Jordan Davis you got Hunt I think that's where the guy

1:04:10Shannon Sharpe:last year I think Jordan Davis outperformed Jalen Carter

1:04:18Shannon Sharpe:so Miles Garrett Jordan Davis got on the other side with Braun Cooper DeJount they got they got Mitchell

1:04:34that's pretty

1:04:35Shannon Sharpe:wait wait wait wait Wolin that's where he left Seattle that's where he went oh

1:04:48I like that I like that

1:04:55I think it's gonna happen Miles Garrett to the Eagles. Ochoa said it first. I just beat Adam Schefter.
