In short

NFL news roundup and debate. Segments cover: (1) Ravens conditioning criticism and what training-camp conditioning tests do to players, (2) 49ers owner Jed York’s prostitution-related court case and NFL personal-conduct review, (3) Giants trading Daniel Faalele to the Jaguars, and (4) Raiders rookie Ashton Jeanty’s ankle sprain and expected impact on Week 1.

Guests (hosts/participants)

The episode is hosted by Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang (from Las Cultureistas) and includes Erin Andrews (from Calm Down with Erin). The rest of the discussion is driven by the two main NFL-commentator voices in the transcript (referred to as “Ocho” and “Joe”).

Key claims and notable examples

  • Ravens: Players describe brutal conditioning tests (150-yard shuttles; hamstring pulls; lactic-acid buildup) and argue criticism of coaches can undermine team leadership. Example: 10-40 “dance test” and 25-yard/150-yard shuttle formats.
  • Jed York: Court documents say York arranged sexual acts via a prostitution website; he was arrested in Ohio and sentenced to two days in jail plus a $1,150 fine; NFL will review under personal conduct policy.
  • Daniel Faalele: Giants trade him to Jaguars for a 2027 sixth-round pick; discussion claims his pass protection/footwork are poor for space and he’s a “project” despite size.
  • Ashton Jeanty: Reported sprained ankle; Raiders unsure timeline but not expected to be long-term; hosts discuss whether he misses Week 1 and note a bye week could help recovery.

3:44Shannon Sharpe:That's just not what we're in our past. Then today, Deshaun Elliott, Patrick Queen, criticized Ravens' conditioning program. Let's take a listen to what some of these guys had to say. Something at the Baltimore Ravens that a lot of people don't know about. Training was hard. We did. We lift a lot of weights in the season. Training was hard. We lift hard. You lift, like, heavy. Heavy. Every day. I always heard that, too. Like, y 'all would squat every day. Dead clean. I mean, power clean. Power clean. Squats. like squatting like I was still those running backs were getting hurt that one year too man why I took my pec out there one year because of that shit yeah it was I think the worst thing was the conditioning test by far what was the condition test 150 yard shuttles yeah so it's like not 100 it's a it was 10 10 150s no that's what y 'all had oh we had 25 yards back 25 yards back 25 yards back and you gotta make that a certain amount of time and you want to get half that rest.

4:43So it was, that was, a lot of hamstrings got pulled. Yeah, a lot of hamstrings got pulled. But training was crazy, but culture wise, I think that locker room was close that I was a part of. It was every single guy on the team connected with each other. Like Lamar would be hanging out with the D-line and you got Roquan going and hang out with freaking O-line and Mark Andrews over there talking to us and you got kickers and everything, just like everybody was close. So the culture was cool.

5:16Shannon Sharpe:It was a good place. It was a good place.

5:21Joe Johnson:What did you think, Ojo? I mean, it sounds like the same, especially when they come to that condition and test. That's the same thing we had to do when I was playing. I see that hasn't changed much. Obviously, that's why you want to come into shape. You don't go to camp trying to get yourself into shape. You know, you got to not come in tip-top, but at least halfway so you can able to get through things like that. And you already know they're coming anyway. As far as the players taking shots at the coaches, you don't want to undermine them. You don't want to undermine them. Harbaugh has had success, you know, for a reason when he was in Baltimore.

5:53Joe Johnson:He had success. Now, most of the time that success didn't end in the championship or lifting that Lombardi trophy. But he did have success. And the way he did things is one of the reasons why you were always in contention year in and year out. Obviously, having the player and the quarterback who did it, Lamar Jackson, it helps that cause as well. But I don't like taking the shots when someone new comes in, and now you have unwanted and unnecessary pressure based on the words that came out of your mouth about your former coach. So now people are expecting, based on what you're saying, expecting you guys to reach the promise right now.

6:26Joe Johnson:You know, I'm not saying you're making it worse on yourself, but you're making it worse on everyone else, including your head coach, based on what you said about your former head coach.

6:35Shannon Sharpe:Hey, that's why you want to come into camp in decent shape, bro. He talking about pulling them hamstrings, Uncle Ocho. They're for guys who come into camp trying to get in shape, using camp to get in shape. That's what you have. You have all them soft tissue injuries, especially them hamstrings. They're going to be the first to go. Yeah, that's all we doing is running. Yep. Yeah. We had that test. We had that 10-40, Ocho. Remember that 40-yard dance test? You got 10 40-yard dashes, and you got to make them a certain amount of time. A certain amount of time, and you only can rest for a certain amount of time.

7:09Shannon Sharpe:So whatever you're going to say, you run a 4-3, your slowest 40 can't be over 4-6. And basically you get like 30 seconds rest. Yeah. I know, boy. Man, we used to have to run 15 150s.

7:30Shannon Sharpe:We had to do a 200-yard shuttle. which is down and back, and you got 28 seconds to make it.

7:36Joe Johnson:Mm-hmm.

7:38Shannon Sharpe:You got like 12, 14 of those. I've been running the track, so I'm cool. One thing I could do because I had a track background was run. I know how to pace it. I'm not going to go out there and, oh, keep up. No. 28 seconds? 28 seconds it is. Now, I'm going to kick out the last one. I'll make it about 26, but I'm not going to burn out. and go anaerobic. Once that bear jump on you, ooh, it's a wrap.

8:07Joe Johnson:Hey, that bear ain't no joke, boy. Hey, it depends on who you are. It's either the bear or the monkey. If he get on you...

8:16Shannon Sharpe:That's your ass, Mr. Postman. That's it. Hey, in basketball, they put that, I think it's like two minutes, they put on the clock, and you got to get like 21 touches. You know what I'm saying? Like down and back. You got to do that. You got to go full into the court 21 times, and you got to make it like under two minutes. You got to have a nice pace, boy. I'm talking about you ain't got to be all out, but you need to, you know, you can't tape off too damn much, boy. Hey. Right. Ruff, I seen boys hit the flow. You hear me? I just ain't got it, coach. I ain't got no more. I can't go. I can't. That's the worst feeling.

8:56Shannon Sharpe:That's the worst feeling to have. It is, bro. Because your mind said you can go. Body. Body said you ain't moving.

9:05Joe Johnson:You ain't moving. And that's the funny thing about it, too, is Joe and Unc, once that lactic acid builds up, once it builds up, there's no way to get rid of it. Oh, yeah. At least not right there at that moment while you're moving. Bro. And you just, you don't puke.

9:25Shannon Sharpe:Man, if you hadn't been doing something similar to that on your own, you're not going to make it, bro. You ain't going to make three of them. Yeah, you ain't going to make it. You got to be running them sprints on your damn own, but I'm telling you. But ain't no joke. Training camp, that test we used to have, that conditioning test coming back. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Man, you had, hey, that lactic acid buildup would make you think you got a BBL. Yeah. Hey. I don't know what they feel like on your, but I can just imagine. Man, your butt feels...

9:58Joe Johnson:Hey. Yeah.

10:01Shannon Sharpe:Hey.

10:02Joe Johnson:Hey. I remember them days. The thing is,

10:05Shannon Sharpe:we run with the group, like the tight ends and linebackers, tight ends and linebackers, we ran together. So, you know, the thing is, if I'm out there and everybody... If I'm out way out there in front of everybody else, they're going to be like, y 'all need to pick it up. Yeah. I'm going to stay right there in the pack. Yeah. Yeah. Right there in the pack. Joe, I got me a nice little get up. Yeah, yeah. Sharp, you're not even tired. Am I supposed to be? That's what I use the offseason for to make sure I don't get tired if we have to do this. Right. Yeah. Man, I agree with you guys. The last thing that I wanted to do, because for me, the way I looked at it, I'm responsible for the guy getting fired.

10:48Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. That's on me. had I did my job a little better, he'd still be here. No matter what I thought of my coaches, and I pretty much got along with all my coaches. Some I like more than others, obviously. Some bosses you like more than others. But for the most part, I got along. They kind of left me alone because they know I was going to do what I was supposed to do. But the details, I can see that because I played for a coach that was very detail-oriented, and he ain't leaving no stone unturned. You mess up if you want to. and talking about, oh, no, hell no, you're going to run that play again.

11:24Shannon Sharpe:You're going to run it again. Absolutely. So that's what I'm used to. I'm not used to making a whole bunch of mistakes. Yeah. You're not going to make a whole bunch of mistakes in a period and finish that period. You're going to start that period all back over again. Mm-hmm. First, Mike going to blow it. Bring it up. Oh, hold on. Here we go. what's going on guys get your head out of your ass dropping passes wrong assignment missed blocks who do you think we're going to beat like this

12:02Shannon Sharpe:started from the top

12:09Joe Johnson:that's how I go to I didn't understand why coaches were so so bent on having consecutive plays in a row go the right way, you know, in certain periods, whether it's 11 or 11, whether it's 7 or 7, whether even whether it's Skelly, if there's nobody there and just you and just doing it on air because they want to do the best they can in replicating 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, sometimes even 11 play drives. They want to get you accustomed to being perfect every time you step out there as much as possible, as much as possible. The better you can go through practice and not making mistakes, the better your chances of going into a game regardless of what they do defensively and having that same repetitive nature when you're in game mode.

13:00Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, we had to string it together. I mean, we go practice, we go periods, the ball didn't touch the ground. Yeah. And then, you know, and then Kuba's like, all right, I buy you everybody everybody get boots but boots he buys like cowboy boots oh we didn't have no drops but so we got nine we got nine completions in a row you couldn't throw a check down the ball had to go at least 20 yards down the field John going for the gusto 40 yards 42 and 4

13:38Shannon Sharpe:The only time Mike did get mad was somebody laid out for a catch. Dude laid out. Brought it in. We get old. Ocho, we played the Super Bowl. The first Super Bowl that we played, two of them in Denver. We played the Packers. We had a day that Thursday practice.

14:03Shannon Sharpe:Wednesday practice Thursday practice I dropped the first ball the ball never touched the ground again Friday practice the ball didn't touch the ground Thursday practice in Miami we played the Falcons ball never touched the ground we would go entire practices and the ball wouldn't touch the ground

14:30Shannon Sharpe:and boy you mess up that street you mess you be the one to mess up a street that we don't call like right 20 balls in a row and you drop it oh man god

14:47Shannon Sharpe:man you know hey you know me oh man damn man my sister could have caught that Hey, let me run in there and call my grandma to come catch this pass for this boy. Damn.

15:00Joe Johnson:Throw them jokes on the fly.

15:01Shannon Sharpe:Oh, for sure. Hey, what's your favorite candy bar? Let me guess. Butterfingers. Damn it.

15:13Shannon Sharpe:You're never going to believe this, guys. The New York Giants have traded Daniel Faleli to the Jaguars for a sixth round draft pick in 2027. According to Pro Football Focus, the 6 '8", 380-pound tackle, masquerading as a football player, had 535 snaps, pass-blocking snaps, 30 % pressure allowed, and gave up four sacks in 2025. That's a miscount. Harbaugh must have been listening to those guys. Ocho.

15:41Joe Johnson:Hey, that's your fault, Unc. Honestly. That's your fault. I blame you. Yeah, that's definitely Unc. Obviously, I think Unc needs to understand. And obviously when he talks about players on here, his voice holds so much weight that even in the higher positions of those who make the calls and can control the outcomes of certain players that are still actively playing. When Unc says things like that, it carries and it carries. It carries. It does. Like who? How do you? We eight weeks in the training camp, eight days, if that. How you already, already traded?

16:18Shannon Sharpe:Lost his job. You know he wasn't good to begin with I ain't tell no lie

Read the full transcript

16:24Joe Johnson:Obviously he was good enough for him To go from Baltimore over to New York He brought him with him for a reason

16:31Shannon Sharpe:Hey Have you ever moved before Ocho? Yes sir Sometimes you take stuff to the new house That you should have left at the old house don't you? It just happens It's just the way it is It just happens sometimes

16:44Joe Johnson:He's just a hoarder That's what he is Yeah, actually, it's unfortunate. You never want to see a player lose their job. You never do. But obviously, he needs to improve. Maybe this is going to be a wake-up call, in a sense, to improve at his respective craft, at the position that he does play, and become more of an asset, become more valuable. I mean, that's the only thing I can think of.

17:06Shannon Sharpe:You look at it, and you look at what he allowed to happen to Lamar Jackson, as mobile as Lamar is, you think Jackson Dart was going to be able to get away from that?

17:15Joe Johnson:Nah.

17:17Shannon Sharpe:I mean, Lamar Jackson, he had Lamar Jackson running for his life. Ain't no telling what Lamar numbers would have looked like had he been able to get some protection and not have to make a decision instantaneous. Right. But look, reading up on this, Joe, I see that Jacksonville, they've been besieged. Their offensive line has been besieged by O-line injuries. One guy had a back surgery. A couple of guys are just, some guys are just getting back. But basically they had, I was reading, they had like four or five of their offensive linemen that's been down and been dealing with injuries. So this is why they made the move.

17:49Shannon Sharpe:But, hey, to be able to get a six-round draft pick in 2027 for that guy, and, you know, he was the second-string lineman, but he hadn't played well in a very, very long time. Got it. Hey, I'm saying, so y 'all think he going to back some guys up? He finna start, Joe. Jacksonville. He finna start.

18:09Joe Johnson:Yeah, the season started in two weeks. and he can't be a backup he could probably be a backup if everybody for the Jacksonville Jaguars behind the bench that's a big boy though what are you 6 '7 6 '8 6 '8 380 just by looking at him he looks physically imposing but he doesn't play his size he doesn't play nowhere near his size that's why I think someone of that size he's more of a project and they will keep him around until he improves. He'll always have a job, Joe, especially at that size. Always.

18:46Shannon Sharpe:Ain't no more, Joe, this man been in the league four, five years. Ain't no more project. You got to be developing. And nobody take this long. They ain't take this long to build a great wall of China. Hell, that shit, that's 2 ,000 miles long. How the hell did it take you two, how you can finish something? I'm just being facetious. But come on, man, it's time for him to, he got to develop. It's time for him to get better. Yeah. He has to be better. And right now, he's, I mean, look, maybe he's better in the run game than pass protection. And normally guys that side are, normally guys that side don't show, they're maulers, Joe.

19:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. They just try to get your hands on you and try to maul you. And the reason why they list him as tackle, he can't play tackle because he doesn't play well in space because he's too slow, feet too slow. Yeah. And you're not, in our business, Joe, slow feet don't eat. Hey. Absolutely. So it's like, hey, hey, hey, so why in hell would Jacksonville trade for him? They besieged by injuries. Yeah. Oh, they need a body.

19:46Joe Johnson:They need a body. And you know what I don't like to also, Unc? You leave Baltimore, you go to New York, you get traded to Jacksonville, you know that's a blow to your ego. Not only your ego, but the one thing that you need to play any sport. Matter of fact, the one thing you need to do anything in life and want to succeed at it is, Joe, you need confidence. You got to have confidence in everything that you do. And when stuff like this continues to happen, I'm sure he hears all the things that people say about him on the outside looking in. I know he tried to maintain his focus in doing the best that he can, but even his best right now is not good enough because if it was good enough, he'll still be in Baltimore.

20:18Joe Johnson:If it was good enough, he'll still be in New York. His confidence is shot at this point. I'm saying, why do you think it's a blow to his ego, though? I mean, Joe, you're an NFL player, Joe. You're an NFL player. I'm saying, but... Anytime, for one, you hear all the noise from last year, right? So Harbaugh goes to New York. Harbaugh brings you, right? I'm not even sure if you would have started there in New York. But now you get traded eight weeks, nine, eight, well, I keep saying weeks, eight, nine days in the training camp, and now you're on another team. That does something to you, Joe.

20:51Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, hey, I think it does something to you, Ocho. But at the same time, it lets you know, hell, you still have an opportunity. Somebody wanted me. Yeah, somebody wanted you, and that's all you want. You know, as a professional, now I can see if they sent his ass home, they released him, and he was on the couch somewhere. You know what I mean? But the fact that he still gets a chance to play high-level football in the NFL, I still think he has a real opportunity. How do we understand this then, Joe? Harbaugh kept his ass in the starting lineup the whole last year and getting Lamar chased all around the field like Debo chasing it.

21:24Shannon Sharpe:After one sack, he traded. So you mean to tell me you're going to trade him after one sack on Jackson Dart, and then you're going to let, I mean, and then now you let him play a whole season and a half. He started like 30-something games for the Ravens. Yeah. That's him. That's probably why. You basically trying to say that's why they were playing bad football over there? He bad. I don't know why they were playing bad. I just know he bad. All the other stuff, let me, hey, we can sit down and go through it frame by frame and go through player by player, and I'm sure we can find something wrong with all players.

21:58Shannon Sharpe:It doesn't matter how great you were, how marginal you are. We all don't play our best football at every single snap, every single down. But with that being said, at some point in time, Ocho, Joe, you just can't keep chasing guys around. You can't be out there like a blind dog in a meat house. Like, which one I got? Who did I get? Which way did he go? Which way did he go? I mean, he just, he bad. I mean, hey, his footwork is bad. And look, it's hard to have quick feet when you're that size. You think about it. Man, damn, they're 20 pounds for 400. Yeah. There ain't very many guys in the league, especially guys being that heavy, that can play.

22:38Joe Johnson:Yeah.

22:39Shannon Sharpe:It just gets so heavy, you just don't move well. And that's him. He just doesn't move well. I mean, you watch him try to pass it, it's like slowly I turn. Step by step. Like, damn, the man already done gone by you. So you're saying that the defensive lineman up there, when he see him in front of him, his eyes get big.

23:09Shannon Sharpe:Defensive lineman, they fighting, trying to line up over him together. Hey, come on, man.

23:16Shannon Sharpe:Hey, they over there, the Ravens snapping the ball. The D-lineman, they over there arguing because they want to be in front of him.

23:25Joe Johnson:I'm hoping to get revived himself over there in Jacksonville, man. You know, get some quality reps. I'm not sure who's over there on the D-line with Jacksonville, but one of those players, you know, he needs to stay out the practice zone and just work on everything. Blocking, you know, drop on pass setting. I mean, whatever he needs to do just to improve, man, so he can become more of an asset and more of a value to that team that he's on now. because you know what the next step is.

23:54Shannon Sharpe:Out of the league. Yeah. But Ocho, Ocho, hold on. Man, man been in the league four or five years, man. He is what he is. I mean.

24:02Joe Johnson:For sure. What do you think is going to happen? Joe, I don't know. I just know I want something. Something has to happen. Something has to click in him where he gets his confidence back. Right now, there's no way you have confidence. There's no way you have confidence. Hell, Joe, I'm rattle after I drop one ball, Joe. Can you imagine going to team the team and getting traded?

24:22Shannon Sharpe:Everybody got the same level of pride you have, Ocho. So you're saying, hell, somebody beat you one time. He ain't beating you. He ain't going to beat you. And I'm not going to look that bad. Even when I ain't know the plays, I ain't look that damn bad. To look that, to look that. And I damn sure wasn't going to look that bad four or five years into my career. That's for certain. And it's almost like he doesn't. It's not like he can't block. It's almost like when he goes to the line and they do anything other than what they're supposed to do, like line up in front of him and come get him. But if anything, they do anything, they move away, bring extra guys, he lost.

25:01Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man.

25:02Joe Johnson:If they stunt, if his guy disappears, he's kind of lost and not catching the next person coming on the stunt. Any wraps, any overlaps, it gets a little bit more difficult.

25:14Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You know that meme with that kid? He up, that's him.

25:24Shannon Sharpe:It's like he – because football is quick. The plays only last like four seconds. So you got to make a decision instantaneous. Simple rule. If you hesitate, you beat. In any sport.

25:37Joe Johnson:Every time.

25:38Shannon Sharpe:If you hesitate, you beat. And far too many times we've seen hesitation. and like, look, to be able to, there's a great chance, I don't know, he might have made the team, he might have not have, but the mere fact they're able to get a six-round draft pick from him, they're able to get a six-round draft pick for a guy that could potentially not be on their roster when the final 53 is announced, I think that's a pretty good tradeoff for them. I think that's a pretty good tradeoff for them. They were able to get some, go ahead. They were able to get some level of compensation for him. But, I mean, look, the Chad knows.

26:19Shannon Sharpe:The Chad done watched it. They done seen cut-up clips. And we're not the only – I'm not the only one that's talked about his play or lack thereof. The Chad can see for themselves even the greatest – even, you know, just casual fans that really doesn't understand, you know, technique and sets or things of that nature can see that, nah, he's not good. hey hey hey chad say chad say the comment section can block better than his ass his phone he can't even block you on the phone he only he he can't even do the block night cap or block our account that's how bad he is at block y 'all gotta chill hey y 'all gotta chill oh damn when you're moving like i do trips don't always come together weeks in advance And sometimes production shoots, interviews, or something I've got to travel for on a short notice.

30:34Shannon Sharpe:Lord have mercy. Court documents revealed that 49ers owner, Jed York, responded to an ad on a known prostitution website in Columbiana County, Ohio, and arranged to have sexual acts.

30:51Joe Johnson:Yeah, I've been there. It's about$120, real quick. What you was doing there?

30:56Shannon Sharpe:It's$140. To do what? He went to the meeting location at a trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio. He was taken into custody after law enforcement agents in the morning, I guess that, Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force determined that York in his possession, his cellular device that he used to arrange the criminal act. York was sentenced to two days in jail in order to pay$1 ,150 in fine. The NFL said in a statement that the league is aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy. Ocho?

31:30Joe Johnson:Hey, um, the man that trying to get a little hoo-ha.

31:34Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man. Ain't that wrong with that? Come on, Joe, man. You think the man, he's worth a billion dollars. He don't want to get his heel with a wedding whistle. Hey. Man, you worth a billion dollars, man. Come on, man. You shouldn't have to do all that, bro. Sometimes you like a reviewer. You like a reviewer. You like a lazy.

31:52Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe. The man don't want no tires. I'm getting in and I'm getting out. Hold on. Hey, Joe, at the time with a little hoo-ha number four, inflation.

32:01Shannon Sharpe:A hundred and fifty at a trailer park. That's what he pulled up to? Them the ones that got all the moves. Are y 'all tripping? Hey, remember I told you, Joe? She had more moves than a hundred dollar hookers. Them the ones that got the moves. Them 5 ,000, they don't do nothing but model. Hey, listen. It used to be$40. Huh? It used to be$40, Joe. You know inflation. Nah, man. Hey, here's a way in this one high enough for me. Okay, Ocho. Damn, if I pull up to a place and it look funny, I'm gone. I'm out. No, it don't look right. I'm gone. Hey, listen around. Joe, so what you expected to look like?

32:32Shannon Sharpe:You expected to pull up to a mansion? They charge$140. I ain't put... If I'm a big and I ain't pulling up to no damn trailer park, I know that. You got a point. But hey, for$140, I'm expecting the screen door to be hanging. I'm walking up here. I'm walking up with the screen door hanging up with that thing. $140. $140 ain't hurt nobody. That little loose. That little loose. Man,$140 a damn set up.

32:58Joe Johnson:That's what$140 is. Joe, it ain't no set up. I'm telling you, it used to be$40. Man, come on, Ocho. Hey, Joe, listen to me, Joe. Let me talk to you. Let me tell you something, man. I used to be out there. Huh? You hear me? I done been in that car before when I was in Cincinnati, Joe. and you speak$40.

33:12Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, hoo-ha made a cost 150 20 years ago. Hoo-ha high as I don't know what now.

33:19Joe Johnson:What would you tell me? No, no, no, no, no, no. Hoo-ha is high as hell for those that want to make you think. That want to make you think it's worth what you're paying for. Hoo-ha don't cost you nothing. Man, you're tripping. Honestly, let me tell you something. It's really free if you use your imagination in some lotion.

33:35Shannon Sharpe:I bet that not. That don't feel the same. Use your visual. I don't do all that. No, hell no But a hundred But a hundred Hey Joe He thought he was going to be A He thought he was going to be Just like a bank robber He was going to get in and out A hundred forty dollars In and out Don't cost you nothing You can't You can't Huh

33:54Joe Johnson:He might have made a mistake But can I tell y 'all Something about him

33:56Shannon Sharpe:What

33:57Joe Johnson:It don't make him no bad It don't make him no bad brother It don't Hey listen You know what

34:02Shannon Sharpe:It don't make him no bad brother But I guarantee I bet you If y 'all pulled up To something like that Hell y 'all would have got up out of that too. Man, y 'all ain't, man, come on. Come on, man.

34:13Joe Johnson:$140,$150. Joe, I'm looking for a deal, boy. $140, boy, let me get that. $140? Hey, I'm trying to figure out if it's a two-for-one.

34:21Shannon Sharpe:A two-for-one. Hey, hey, I'm sorry,$140 sound like a damn setup to me, chat.

34:28Joe Johnson:That way it look like, it wouldn't sound like to me. Hey, can I tell you, you want to know what a setup is, Joe? What, what? Huh? What is it? Huh? When you're paying for it indirectly and they disguise it as a relationship, huh? What you talking about? You think you're getting that for free every single day? No, you're paying for it indirectly. You hear me, Joe? Don't make me preach to you. I ain't got to be Sunday. You're paying for it one way or another. It ain't free. Listen to me, Joe. He just want to get in and get out. So, like, nope, when you're in a relationship and you're in marriage, boy, you're paying for that.

35:02Joe Johnson:Let me stay with me real quick, Joe. the title relationship the title marriage it changes the narrative as if you're not paying for it. That's in-house. Boy, you're paying for in-house. You hear me?

35:14Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

35:16Joe Johnson:Stay with me. People don't think about it like that. I'm just letting you know. I'm shedding light on it.

35:21Shannon Sharpe:The man human, Joe. The man human, Joe. I get a human, I get a human, Ocho. I mean, but they're a billionaire and you pull up to a trailer park? Come on, man. What does that make you say? He a man and he still got needs and sometimes. David was the king. He was the greatest king. Oversaw thousands and thousands. And what did he do? What he did? What he did, Uncle? I don't know that story. He put Bathsheba's husband on the front line so he could get killed because he wanted Bathsheba. What did Samson tell Delilah? Told him where his strength lied, didn't he? They couldn't call him down. But the moment they cut his hair, huh?

36:00Shannon Sharpe:Come on, Ocho. Joe, you know what they do. Come on, that thing ain't changed nothing. Alexander the Great, for Cleopatra. Man, you better stop it. Hey, I like that name, Buston. What was the one that, Ash, what was Alexander the Great?

36:23Shannon Sharpe:What was Alexander the Great? Who is, that wasn't Cleopatra.

36:30Joe Johnson:Damn, what I'm thinking about that, Joe? Look, 140. And guess what?

36:35Shannon Sharpe:That stay off the credit card? Don't nobody get a little 140 on K? Hey, Tracy, what? You know what I'm saying, Joe? Hey, I just pulled me a... Stopped by the ATM, pulled me a quick 140 out. Seven 20s. You got the AA. I'd rather go home with Paul Meadow than try my luck for$140.

37:00Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, that's a good one too. Listen, Paul Meadow done saved me a whole bunch of time. Sometimes you don't want to conversate. Sometimes you want to approach nobody. But what you do is it's all about your imagination. You continue to use that visual reference, right, and grab that lotion. I preferably like Jurgens. Jurgens. You use that visual, and that's free. Hey, hey. Let me tell you something.

37:25Shannon Sharpe:Coach Ocho, you gonna make that thing throw up and go to bed, ain't it man?

37:29Joe Johnson:Out of there. And Joe, guess how much that cost me, Joe? Nathan? I ain't pay nothing. Nathan? And let me tell you something. One thing about it, I know a lot of fellas done went through this too. And Chad, listen, we family, so I could talk like this. Now, this is the old me now. One thing about it, most of the time, you chase, you chase, you chase. You're spending a little money on something. And obviously, you get it. And you always get that feeling like, well, damn, that's it? because once Coach Nut Clarity hits in, you be like, well, damn, I done fought all this hard to get this, and it's nothing what I thought.

38:01Joe Johnson:It's just such a waste of time. Hey, hold up.

38:03Shannon Sharpe:So when he pulled up, they put him, they arrested him? Hey, I don't really know how it go. He had the phone. I guess he had the phone on which he tried to make the tree. You know, he picked up, hey, what do I get for him fighting? How long it lasts? 30? I get to talk to

38:26Shannon Sharpe:hold on I get the I get the GFA what's GFA stand for? you know what I'm saying I wasn't supposed to tell I wasn't supposed to ooh ooh

38:47Joe Johnson:hey hey hey Hey, Joe, listen, I'm glad I'm old now, man. I ain't got to go through none of that no more, man. Oh, man. You know, as you get older and you're a little bit more seasoned, you understand you ain't got to waste no time with all that, man. Just, man, you get that visual. Okay, I saw that. Did they get that visual and keep that visually in mind? Yeah, oh, I'm good. And then after that, man, that's it? Okay, cool. So in my mind, I didn't already hit and I had to pay nothing.

39:19Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I'm just saying, Joe, come on, Joe, you know sometimes, Joe. I mean, you know, it's just something about a little 140 piece. Nah. Hey, hey, hey, hey, one of the homies from the hood told me this. You know what I mean? But if you're a billionaire and you tell me this, I'm like, man, you need your ass whooped.

39:36Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, you're not thinking right now. Yeah, yeah. Hold on. Joe, he's a billionaire for a reason because he don't spend what? Money. A lot of money. A little 140 piece, Joe. Think about it, Joe. If I can get off$140 ,000, I mean, why would I go to the high price hooker? For what? You see you ain't getting off$140 ,000. You see$140 ,000, that's a trap. Yeah. Yeah, you know, sometimes it's a trap, sometimes it's not.

40:04Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you like when you shoplift. Sometimes you get caught. Sometimes you go out there with a pack and get a full pack of pork chops. You know what I'm saying? Sometimes you get away, Joe.

40:14Joe Johnson:No, I'm not telling you what I heard, Joe. I'm telling you what I know. That little 40, boy. That little 40 take a long way. Yo, I know you done been in the hood.

40:20Shannon Sharpe:They selling a pack of pork chops. They got pork loin. They got hamburger meat. Yeah, they got all that stuff. They got a big old slab of number chicken thighs. Just like that about this right here, drumsticks. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, hey. We had somebody come through the hood selling joints out the trunk. They don't cost but$50. And you buy them. Huh? Yeah, they got my size. I'm going to get there, bro. Exactly. Because I done showed up and bought some of that meat. I bought me chicken thighs straight out the barbershop. Hey, he go to the truck. He got the thing sitting. He got a slab with your chicken thighs on ice.

40:55Shannon Sharpe:Go, let me get that. Let me get that up off. Them real hustlers right there, boy. Hey, they selling everything. They selling chicken thighs. They got cologne. You name a cologne. Hey, man, I need this. Hey, a wet vac, a blower. lawnmower whatever you want they go get it just tell them where you saw it at

41:24Shannon Sharpe:but you know what I'm saying I think the thing is a lot of times in a situation like this you engage in behavior because you don't think ain't no way I'm gonna get caught

41:39Shannon Sharpe:not in today's era okay Ocho I'm sorry It's hard

41:43Joe Johnson:Hey Joe If he can't go to the trailer park Where can he go Joe

41:50Shannon Sharpe:Damn sure not the trailer park Oh Joe Get you a little Yeah yeah You know what I mean Get a little hush Get some hush money or something But damn no Prostitution Come on man But here's the thing Because of who he is He's always gotta be He gotta be very careful Because somebody Don't find out who he is And then you're priming example to get blackmail or extorted.

42:14Joe Johnson:Yeah, he gonna be paying hush money for a long time.

42:17Shannon Sharpe:Because you can't pay hush money. You can't pay hush money one time. You gotta get, in his case, he gotta get somebody that's got something to lose, too. He can't have nobody out who ain't got nothing to lose. Man, you don't want that. Because them men can't, the ones that got something to lose, they ain't gonna rock your world. See, once you pay hush money, you gotta keep paying. Hush, hush, Hush, hush. You got to hush. Keep saying hush.

42:44Joe Johnson:You got to keep it going.

42:46Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Well, listen, he going to figure out which one you want to do, because this prostitution thing, it going to blow up in your face. Hey, the man that spent two days in jail, $150, he good. How long, Joe? Two days in jail. I'm a billionaire. I spent two days in jail off some damn$150. Let me ask you a question, Joe. How long would you spend in jail? If they told you when you get out, you'll be a billionaire. How long would you spend in jail? and they told me when I get out I'll be a billionaire how long they need me to stay in there

43:16Joe Johnson:hey Joe let me ask you something what's up what's the definition of prostitution in general

43:27when you selling

43:28Joe Johnson:that thing for money okay right so you paying money in exchange for someone's services right Yeah. Okay.

43:39Shannon Sharpe:Okay. Oh, it's modern day prostitution. That's what you're trying to say. They've been doing this before. Ain't no modern day. This go way back. Because that was the thing that had value way back in biblical times. It had value.

43:54Joe Johnson:Can I ask you a question? Yeah. What's up? When you're a provider, right? Yeah. When you're a provider, what do you do? you spend you you spend money you spend money right yeah so but the word provider changes the narrative of it's not being prostitution it just starts with another p oh you ain't picking up what i'm putting down

44:20Shannon Sharpe:joseph just for 140 it was suspect to him and where and where he went to get it

44:28Joe Johnson:come on man that's all i'm saying bro like hey joe i'm just joe either way you splice it 140 relationship marriage you paying indirectly no matter how you look at it just the word

44:42Shannon Sharpe:changes the narrative he probably got the g he got the gfe for 140 dollars he got the girlfriend experience and his ass went to jail behind that come on see joe you get see you get losty but Hey, you know sometimes when, what Grandma Klump said, when that thing get to wooing and wooing and wooing, woo, make your head pop up.

45:11Joe Johnson:You know what, that's another conversation for another day. I don't want to get off track. Okay, okay. Ocho, what the NFL going to do?

45:19Shannon Sharpe:How long they going to suspend it?

45:23Joe Johnson:Fine. Yeah, fine him a little. Fine,$250 ,000,$500 ,000. little slap on the wrist little 500

45:29Shannon Sharpe:they give a little 500 little 500 Joe yeah ain't nothing I'm saying a little 500 he could have had them about four five girls with 500k hair I tell you that I tell you that Joe Joe what you fail to realize them the one they don't get it's something about them they always gonna want more yeah

45:57Joe Johnson:Damn. Hey Joe, I tell you, hey, chat, Mr. York, he done got in trouble, but at the end of the day, that don't make him no bad brother.

46:06Shannon Sharpe:No, he ain't no bad brother. It happened. Look at him. Hey, hey, he just the one that happened to get caught. You know what, you right, it don't make him no bad brother. It don't make him no bad brother. That man tried to get his rocks off. Damn.

46:24Shannon Sharpe:Well, they probably gave him a little fine. He already spent two days in jail. He in solitary. He probably got his own little privacy. He got his own little private set up. What do you think he ended up saying to himself for that 48 hour? What do you think he ended up saying? I can't believe this is my life now. I can't believe this. Man, I can't believe this. He's saying, I knew this was a damn set up when she told me$150. I should have known. I should have known. That's what he said. But you're getting somebody out of the thing. Unless you get one of them, you know, one of them called, one of them called, you know, the$2 ,000,$2 ,500,$5 ,000.

47:03Shannon Sharpe:But he ain't want that. He got that play money to him. That's like you giving$2 to somebody. You know what I mean? Joe, he just wanted something. Joe, he wanted someone that's going to come. Hey, one of them want to come in there and put her hair up. Not what he wanted. Hey, she going to put that thing in that ponytail? Hey, don't ask no questions.

47:25Joe Johnson:Everybody go down. In and out. Hey, strictly business.

47:29Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, hey. Would she go to God? Hey. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, you know what he said? He said to that jail cell, he said, Lord, if you get me out of this, I promise you I won't get back in another situation. Because you know we're going to ask God to get us out of this. Because you know, God, I'm going to church every Sunday. God, I'm going to serve you. And guess what? He going to get to feeling freaky again. he gonna have his head right back on that app

47:59Joe Johnson:you gonna go up under a different name but look Ellie

48:04Shannon Sharpe:damn look we making jokes in light of the situation this is two consenting adults yeah that's what this was this was two consenting adults and And I guess unless you go to Vegas, you can't do it. Damn. Oh, well.

48:35Shannon Sharpe:After JT left practice today with an apparent injury and was helped off the field by trainers, JT was reportedly unable to put weight on his leg after diving for a ball and landing awkwardly. Well, we just got an update a few minutes ago. O 'Gente is believed to have a sprained ankle. The Raiders are unsure how long he'll be out, but it's not considered a long-term injury. The organization is breathing a sigh of relief. Raiders decline commentate with Jente's injury. If he can't play week one, Ocho, how big of a loss is this?

49:06Joe Johnson:I mean, it's a huge loss. It's a huge loss, especially for Kirk Cousins. Because for one, for Kirk Cousins, you have adequate receivers. You have decent receivers. You have an elite tight end in Brock Bowers. But some of the pressure will be taken off you having Ashton Gentry back there in the backfield and being able to hand it off to him and him take most of the offense on his shoulders. Him not being able to go week one, it'll be a big blow. It'll be a huge blow, actually.

49:35Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I think it'll be tough, but I do think the rookie Mike Washington Jr. has showed some promise, Uncle Ocho. I ain't saying he going to come.

49:45Joe Johnson:You like him, huh?

49:46Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. I ain't saying he gonna come out there and give. Arkansas, Joe. Oh, Joe. Hey, chill. Don't let it fool you. You gotta chill. But I'm calling a spade a spade. The man done played his ass off in this preseason. He deserves an opportunity. One man go down, it's another man's opportunity. Hey, bro, step up to the plate. It's a scorching sports summer, and you can make all your picks on prize picks. Women's basketball and baseball are heating up, and every football preseason game kicks off this month on prize picks. The dude out there from Arkansas, he be running his route backwards. Joe's like, man, hey, he got all pro potential now. Once they get him turned around, Ocho. Hey, listen, but while y 'all playing, though, he really got an opportunity. He ran hard. He got an opportunity to really do something special. So we'll see what happens.

51:48Shannon Sharpe:How long Gentry going to be out? I don't know. They say he couldn't put no pressure on it, so we'll just have to wait and see. But the thing is, okay, he got this week. He got the bye week. So he really have three weeks to get ready. Unless it's a high ankle sprain. If it's just a regular ankle sprain, he should be fine. But hold on. Now, if he had to go a whole week, he can't put no pressure. He can't do nothing. Hell, getting back to that point is going to be tough. It's going to take more than a couple weeks. Hey, look, he a small dude, but he's like, he a little. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's a big day joker.

52:22Shannon Sharpe:They put him in that non-bearing tank. You know how they put him in that non-bearing tank? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, before you do it like, oh, damn, I don't feel that bad. Get him on the bike and let him get some cardio. Because the thing is, it's not so much you don't know the plays or things like that. It's your conditioning. Yeah. Yeah. Man, you be bloated. It don't take you but a couple of days for your conditioning to be. That thing be. I'm talking about a hit. Yeah. You look up, boy, you be breathing so hard. Come on, man. It don't take long. So, and the thing is, he's going to have to stay healthy.

52:58Shannon Sharpe:And like you said, Joe, he's a smaller guy. Yeah. That's why people are, like, really afraid of, like, smallish backs because of the physical pounding that they take. And especially if your offense isn't very your team isn't very good. They're gonna hand you the ball a bunch The offensive line isn't very good. You getting hit in the backfield before you can even get started. You're already taking punishment so I Hope the young man's okay cuz I think he has a promising career But he didn't actually go to the team that's best suited to help him have a long prosperous career

53:32Joe Johnson:That's what that's what happened when you go early mm-hmm

53:37Shannon Sharpe:so what you thinking you think he missed the first game

53:40Joe Johnson:anybody thinking he missed the first game if it's a high ankle sprain he's definitely missing the first game yeah he has two weeks so he got to September 9th right yeah

53:49Shannon Sharpe:well he got September 10th 9th is a Thursday the 10th is a Friday the 11th what the 12th

53:57Joe Johnson:oh nah he gonna play he good yeah he gonna be alright especially if you use my remedy

54:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I don't know. We gonna see. I don't say the man couldn't put no pressure on it.

54:10Joe Johnson:Yeah, hey, Joe.

54:11Shannon Sharpe:That's like almost two weeks. Oh, Joe, you know you first turned an ankle. That thing real tender. Yeah. But after a while... It's two weeks. They put the tape on there and put you in a boot, get you in there, get you walking, that warm water hit it.

54:25Joe Johnson:Yeah.

54:25Shannon Sharpe:They start giving you that stem, start doing exercises. He ain't even gotta do all that. Man, he ain't one of them little scat bags. He a little power runner, too. Now, he ain't cut hard. That man ain't. All right? He got time to get ready, Joe.

54:43Joe Johnson:All right. We're going to see. He's going to play week one because that's almost two weeks, huh? The question is, the question, based on what you've seen from Mendoza,

54:53Shannon Sharpe:is Mendoza going to start over Cousins or does that Cousins take it from him? No.

54:58Joe Johnson:No. No. No. No. No. Do not throw that boy out there to the Sharks. I'm with you on this one. No.

55:06Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, nah. I don't see Mendoza starting. I see them starting off with Kirk Cousins. But at some point, we'll definitely see a heavy dose of Mendoza.

55:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I look, I think it's going to be hard press for them to win a bunch of games anyway, because they're not the most talented team. They don't have anything that really other than Max Crosby and Brock Bowers. They don't really have anything that jumps off the screen at you like, oh, God, he's a must have. Yeah. Brock Bowers and Crosby. Yeah, for sure. But other than that, they those guys leaves a lot to be desired. So even with Jente in the lineup, I think it's going to be a struggle for them to win a bunch of games. And let alone games. But like you said, if Mike Davis is what you believe he is, Joe, and he plays, okay, maybe we'll have something we can play action off of it.

56:03Shannon Sharpe:We can run the ball with him, play action off of it and hit some plays down the field. But that's going to be very, very interesting to see if Jente can't go week one. Hey, man, the Raiders, I don't think we expect too much out of the Raiders. especially in that AFC West with them damn Chargers, Chiefs, and Broncos. Hell, I don't expect to. They ain't going to raise too much damn hell, you know, this season, Uncle Ocho. I don't see that. Now, I think they will have some bright spots, but that division too tough, bro. Yeah. Quarterback play is really, really good in that division. You got Mahomes, you got Herbert, and you got Bo Nix.

56:42Shannon Sharpe:And the defense is really good, especially the Broncos. When you're moving like I do, trips don't always come together weeks in advance. Sometimes production shoots, interviews, or something I've got to travel for on a short notice. Like the time when I had the last minute trip to Denver and everything came together fast. 1:00:49Shannon Sharpe:Justin Jefferson vows to return the top receiver throne. Jetta told Mike Silva in Atlantic, not yet. But they'll know after this year, I tell you that. He spoke glowing with Kyler Murray. What excites me is his ability to just be an athlete. Everybody knows what he does when the ball's in his hand. Running the ball and being able to create time back there in the pocket. So there's always, you're always alive. You're always just expecting the ball to be going to come your way. so

1:01:21Shannon Sharpe:I tell you who he ain't back there I don't know who I don't know how excited he is about Kyler being back there but I know he's exuberant he's over the moon about a certain guy not being back there I know that for certain

1:01:38Joe Johnson:absolutely especially after last year he had to scrape and crawl for them on his last year

1:01:44Shannon Sharpe:that man done had a season where he had 1 ,800 yards, and now all of a sudden he's scraping by. He's scraping the bottom of the barrel to try to get 1 ,000. Man, he say, man. He say, and I had first cousins. I had Sam Donald, and I'm putting up – look at the numbers that he put up with those first cousins. Put up numbers with – You know, cousins going to throw that. Yeah. Yeah.

1:02:11Joe Johnson:He's surgical with that ball now.

1:02:13Shannon Sharpe:Look at the numbers he put up with Sam Donald. and now all of a sudden y 'all got me got people thinking I ain't Jetta no more

1:02:25Shannon Sharpe:yeah I want to see him get back to it bro y 'all got people thinking I'm the car I ain't that Jetta I'm a real Jetta I ain't that Jetta

1:02:39man

1:02:41Shannon Sharpe:it's tough when you have success with one quarterback or quarterbacks and then all of a sudden people just think, look, everybody ain't going to be able to be like DeAndre Hopkins. Whoever the quarterback is there, he going to put up top tier numbers. Everybody can't be like that, man.

1:02:59Shannon Sharpe:I know it gets tough because he coming to the league, Ochoa, and you think about where his numbers was. 1 ,300, 1 ,400, 1 ,500, 1 ,600, 1 ,800.

1:03:10Joe Johnson:One of the greatest four-year stretches. Yes, the start of career. Yes. I'm sure one of the greatest, if not the greatest. I think he did. It was more than Moss. Yeah, it was as far as catches.

1:03:21Shannon Sharpe:I think he did pass Moss. Yeah, he was balling.

1:03:27Shannon Sharpe:The Steelers could trade Joey Porter Jr. before the season begins due to stalled contract negotiations per Ian Rappaport. Porter wants to be the NFL highest paid cornerback, which Pittsburgh has yet to offer. Pittsburgh would like to net a first for Porter. Jalen Ramsey called the team out today, say pay Porter Jr. and get him on the field. They got to pay Joey Porter. I'm overly in Joey's corner. Joey needs to get compensated for being a valuable part of this secondary and a valuable part of this defense and team. It's just whoo-wee. I mean, because Spoon just got$33 million. You see McDuffie at$31 million.

1:04:07Shannon Sharpe:So there's a couple of cornerbacks in that. Sauce Garner, if I'm not mistaken, over$30 million. What you do, Ocho?

1:04:18Joe Johnson:Hey, it's tough. Hey, I don't know. I mean, he's deserving of it. He's very good at what he does, especially in man-to-man. Hey, that's tough. I'm curious. You know, we already had this problem already with Cam Hayward. You got T.J. Watt making a boatload as well.

1:04:39Shannon Sharpe:They just gave a big D tackle, I think, Benton. He just got paid, too? Oh, Pittsburgh got a lot tied up in their defense, huh? Because really the only person that's really making some money off the top of my head offensively is DK. DK is like 30, 30, 31, 32 million.

1:05:02Joe Johnson:That's crazy. But he worth it, though.

1:05:04Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And I guess the thing is they want him to get on the field and show. He's like, nah, I done been on the field. Y 'all need to pay me, and then I come back. Because he been on the pump, Ocho.

1:05:14Joe Johnson:Yeah, ain't nothing to show. We know what he can do. We know what he can do. Hey, what year is this for?

1:05:19Shannon Sharpe:This will be his fourth, I think. Will it be his fourth, don't you?

1:05:22Joe Johnson:Four. Yeah, I think it should be his fourth. Hey, you know what I thought about? What's that? Today Monday, huh? Yeah. Yeah. Joe, what you doing after this? What you trying to do? You trying to hit the city? I'm trying to hit Magic City, man. I didn't hear about these lemon pepper wings, man, so.

1:05:47Shannon Sharpe:Hey, man, you just be talking outside of your neck, though. I don't really know. No, Joe, I called you today, and you ain't answering me again. Ocho, today, Monday, Ocho. The last time you came here was a Monday. I told you, my Mondays are packed, bro. You hear me? Hold on, hold on.

1:06:02Joe Johnson:I'll tell you about it. Joe, your Monday too packed to pick up the phone and call me back? I was busy. I'm working, bro. I got another job outside of nightcap. I got a couple jobs. Joe, Joe, Joe, if you call me, I don't care if I was skydiving. I'm going to answer the phone while I'm falling. You hear me? All right. Yo, ain't nothing ever too busy, boy, when it come you what? That's how I feel. Oh, okay. All right. He needs to be like your brother.

1:06:27Shannon Sharpe:My bad.

1:06:28Joe Johnson:You know, I still - It's your second time. Joe, this is your, hey, this is my second time coming to Atlanta, and Joe ain't responding. Y 'all know about me. Hey, that magic city. Like, I'm kind of feeling the way, though. Like, we got some beef or something.

1:06:38Shannon Sharpe:Hey, I don't really care how you're feeling, but listen, check this out. You know, that Magic City night still kind of lingers. You know what I mean? Like, I kind of still feel a little way about that. I ain't going to lie to you. You know what I'm saying? So I don't really know when you're crying, Wolf, or when you really, you know what I'm saying?

1:06:51Joe Johnson:I don't really know. I told you on last night's show I would be in Atlanta in the morning. I know what you're saying. I know exactly what you're saying. I know exactly what you're saying, okay? Hey, Joe. Hey, I'm going to end up lumping you up. Do what you got to do, partner. I promise you. Oh, I can't wait. I can't wait. It could happen at night, boy. It could happen at night.

1:07:16Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he's going into his fourth season. He wants to be compensated. He wants to be the highest paid. The highest paid is$33 million a year by spoon. So that means he's going to have to get$33,$250,$33,$5, or$34. Yeah. Boy, trying to get that money, man. That's what happens when you delay waiting a guy because the numbers just keep going up, just keep going up, just keep going up. And by the time it settles, he won his money. And he feels he's played that he's earned it. He's earned that pay. And I don't see him coming off this hill. I don't know who his agent is, but I don't see him coming off this hill.

1:08:06Joe Johnson:Hey, Unc, where you at?

1:08:08Shannon Sharpe:L.A. Damn. Got delayed. My flight got delayed.

1:08:16Joe Johnson:I know if I asked you, let's go to Magic, you would have been front and center, man. Everybody know, hey, like my grandma said,

1:08:23Shannon Sharpe:boy, I'm like an old shoe. I'm reliable. Count on me.

1:08:26Joe Johnson:Yeah, that's right. Well, this second time Joe done did this, boy.

1:08:30Shannon Sharpe:Hey, I done did what? You say you want to go to Magic? We can go to Magic after this, bro.

1:08:34Joe Johnson:For real?

1:08:35Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:08:36Joe Johnson:Y 'all don't have many people function by myself, man.

1:08:40Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I got you, bro. I'm going to pull up on you. You going to get the wings, Locho?

1:08:48Joe Johnson:Man, y 'all keep telling me, listen, you and Joe done told me about Magic City in these wings. I'll tell you one thing. If I go in here, I ain't even ate today yet. If I go in here, these wings ain't good, I'm going to be mad.

1:08:59Shannon Sharpe:Oh, no, you're going to be happy with the wings, boy. Oh, yes, sir.

1:09:04Joe Johnson:Hey, they gonna... You think Magic's there, huh?

1:09:09Shannon Sharpe:He might be. Yeah, yeah.

1:09:11Joe Johnson:Joe got a number. Hey, Joe, text Magic. Tell Magic I'm coming as soon as the show ends.

1:09:18Shannon Sharpe:I'm gonna hit him now. Yeah.

1:09:24Shannon Sharpe:You sure you gonna be showing up now? Don't have me getting out of my bed and you ain't up there now.

1:09:36Joe Johnson:I'm definitely trying to see what let me see how far

1:09:39Shannon Sharpe:you got any requests

1:09:40Joe Johnson:you need you need anything special nah just as long as they got some wings that's it wings and french fries you need some money oh okay you ain't huh you ain't got no type you ain't nah I ain't looking for all that I'm just trying to I just want to be able to come back and talk about the experience when we come back on Tuesday tomorrow's show oh okay

1:10:00Shannon Sharpe:okay

1:10:02Joe Johnson:okay my bad

1:10:03Shannon Sharpe:my bad hey Joe

1:10:04Joe Johnson:it ain't nothing but 12 minutes from me.

1:10:07Shannon Sharpe:Right up the street.

1:10:08Joe Johnson:Yeah.

1:10:12Joe Johnson:Okay.

1:10:13Shannon Sharpe:So what are they going to do, Joe? They going to pay Port or what? They going to trade it. That's one thing about the Steelers now. They are not afraid to get off any player. Real.

1:10:26Joe Johnson:Yeah.

1:10:27Shannon Sharpe:Boy, look at all the receivers that untraded. Hey, A.B., Mike Wallace. They let them go. Plexico. Piggins, Plexico. But damn, a defender like Porter, they gonna... Santonio Holmes. Yeah. They gonna play. Emmanuel Sanders, let him go.

1:10:54Shannon Sharpe:I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't know.

1:10:59Shannon Sharpe:I don't know. I mean, he'll pivot a piece to what they do defensively. And for him not to be out there, for them not to pay him, he must got a hell of a backup. And then he wants 33, 33 and a half million a year. Damn.

1:11:18Shannon Sharpe:But, I mean, that's what you do. You draft a player, you develop him. Don't you want to, you know, compensate him and keep him? Fact. You get in the business of developing players for other teams to have? Hmm. I mean. I would think, I would hope they would want to keep the guy, but hey, what do I know?

1:11:45Shannon Sharpe:Following the Blues during the preseason matchup, Deshaun Watson gave a two-minute apology for his comments Saturday. Here's his apology in its entirety. Let's take a listen. First off, I want to address the comments from Saturday after the game. But, you know, I think just, you know, human nature, just myself being very emotional, putting a lot of time these last two years to, you know, get back and, you know, spend time in this facility, in the city, meeting a lot of different people in the community. you know I thought I was going to get you know a little different response but you know I think you know my emotions got the best of me and you know I wasn't my comments wasn't attending to go at any of the fans around in the city because there's been a lot of great fans that have been supporting me and I know the frustration this organization have put you know a lot of investment and coming, you know, to get me back in 22.

1:12:47And things haven't been going the right direction that we thought it was. You know, a lot of injuries, a lot of time off, and not putting the best football in my foot forward. So, again, just, you know, I understand the frustration. I understand everything that kind of goes into that. You know, and moving forward, I just want to focus on football, making sure that, you know, I'm putting the best product out there, having the best ability, you know, because I thrive off the energy. I thrive off the energy of the fans. I thrive off the energy of the community. I thrive off all that stuff. You know, I think looking back in my history at Clemson and, you know, previous at the Houston organization, you know, I was a big community guy, big city guy, big fan guy, you know, during the game.

1:13:30So, yeah, I mean, I'm going to keep whatever I feel with me and my family internally on how I feel about that. And, yeah, just move on.

1:13:38Shannon Sharpe:But don't you think, Deshaun, that winning and playing better would eliminate some of that booing? Last time I played on this field, I took my Achilles. And that same fan base, they cheered when I got hurt. So does that have to do with anything about performance? When a person gets hurt, especially for your own city, and they cheer. Does any of that make you regret coming here? No, I don't regret anything in my life. You know, I think the Lord put me through situations for a reason. So I don't regret anything at all. But, you know, I had different thoughts on how it was going to be. But, you know, it is what it is.

1:14:27You know, sometimes, you know, the tables turn. And I'm patient enough because I'm a child of God to, you know, wait for that time to change. So I'm not tripping on it. I'm not tripping on it.

1:14:39Shannon Sharpe:And when it happened, Ocho and Joe, Joe, I know you remember, Joe, you wasn't with the show at the time, Ocho and I, we talked about it. And we said that was classless. That's Bush league. You don't share anybody's injury, let alone your own players. He's laying down there on the field. And obviously he's laying down there and he's not getting up. You know, there's something seriously wrong. So no matter what, just set that aside. And it's hard. It's hard to sit him. When emotion is high, logic is low. it's hard if I feel some type of way about a person it's hard for me when he's going through he or she is going through something to set all that aside like you know what I'll dislike you tomorrow but today I wish that hopefully everything's okay so that's a part of it um

1:15:23Shannon Sharpe:Joe man Joe said I don't believe it say I just don't believe it I ain't saying that it's not but I just don't believe it. I believe. Think about it. Hey, think about his emotions in his, in the press conference before this when he was talking about, you know what I mean? Saturday, think about that and then you turn around and come on, man. Like, it just ain't adding up to me, Uncle Ocho.

1:15:47Joe Johnson:You gotta, you gotta, you gotta put yourself in a Cleveland Browns fan. You gotta put yourself and use that. I did. You gotta, you gotta use that perspective. You know, he talks about they booed him when he got hurt, but before they killed his injury, he still wasn't doing well.

1:16:05Shannon Sharpe:And that's what the reporter asked. The reporter asked him, oh, Joe, and he said he didn't acknowledge that. He could have said, you know what, you're right. If I had played better, maybe they had cheered, but I haven't played well. At least acknowledge I have not and I am not playing well. Acknowledge that, and then we can move on to the disrespect that they showed you when you were laying on that field by booing you and you were injured.

1:16:34Joe Johnson:Now you get a better clarification, a better context on why they were booing. I mean, they're booing because even before you got hurt, you were still playing bad. Nothing was right. You know, damn, Monk. He was.

1:16:48Shannon Sharpe:I mean, even the most ardent Deshaun Watson fan can honestly say, since he's been in Cleveland, he's been bad. He has. And that's okay to say. Two things can be true. He was a phenomenal player in Houston. He hasn't been close to that. Now, you can chalk it up to injuries. You can chalk it up to being out for an extended period of time because you've got to remember, Ocho, in 2020 was the last year that he had he looked like he was Deshaun Watson. In 2021, he didn't play a game. In 2022, he missed the first 11 games. he comes back the following year he gets hurt with a shoulder injury he comes back the following year and he tears his achilles so he's played only 19 games in five years none in 21 six and 22 i don't know how many so seven so you you did you divvy it up over the next two years he played 12 games over the next two years i don't know if it was seven and five it was six and six it was nine and three.

1:17:50Shannon Sharpe:I don't remember. So he has not played well. And anybody with eyes can see that. You can be the most casual of fans. You don't got to be the most, you know, oh, man, I know X and O's. I know offense. I know defense. I know when they were in a flood. I know when they did scat protection. You don't have to be that. Deshaun hadn't played well in Cleveland. And at least he needs to acknowledge that, Ocho. It's okay to say, you know what? I haven't played as well as I like to play. And maybe he has said that. Maybe I missed it. But he's got to play better now, though. Boy, look here. And it seems like it's at least maybe if I could just find, like, it's just something about the boos that drown out the applause.

1:18:39Shannon Sharpe:You hear those boos? It could be two people booing, and they got 85 ,000 people cheering. You hear those boos on your head? It's the booze, but it's being at home getting booed. I expect to get booed on the road. Yeah, yeah. But at home, in front of my own fans, my mama in the crowd, my lady in the crowd, you know what I mean? And they probably said, your son sucked. Come on, man. Come on, man.

1:19:07Joe Johnson:I would love that pressure, though. I would love that pressure. Would you?

1:19:13Shannon Sharpe:No, not me. no that's my family the crowd is my family that's my home i'm out in that community and you think so little of me that you boo yeah i mean i've been booed as an offense it ain't no good feeling and you're talking about a guy that that has success early on it wasn't always like we got booed but when we played bad me john and td and ed and rod coming off the field they're booing us they let you hear it yeah you're talking about it oh you're talking about the team you think about We won 13 games in 96. We won another 12 games in 97. We won 14 games in 98. And they booing? Bro, we won 39 games in three years.

1:19:55Yeah.

1:19:56Shannon Sharpe:Two divisions and went to the Super Bowl. And we went in and played well. You better believe they let us have it. Now, hey, you can say it doesn't bother you. It bothered me. It made me make sure I go out there. Hey, let's get this thing together now. Hey, they got it right to boo. As a matter of fact, y 'all didn't hear I was in there with him.

1:20:15Joe Johnson:Boo!

1:20:19Joe Johnson:I don't know. I just, I don't know. It's weird. But Ocho, you got to realize you're in Cincinnati.

1:20:25Shannon Sharpe:You got a lot of that.

1:20:28Joe Johnson:Yeah, but I like the, think about this. Think about how I played the game, Unk and Joe. Think about this real quick. The game of football is already hard enough. It's very difficult.

1:20:38Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:20:38Joe Johnson:The best of the best is the one percenters. Unk, I talk shit every week, right? and Wednesday through the media. Okay, I'm making it more difficult on me because I'm playing in a dependent position, relying on 10 other people for me to even have success. So that's one aspect of it. That's pressure. I'm putting it on myself. Now there's a target on my back. On top of the target on my back, talking trash to the team, Joe, I'm sending them boys gifts every week when we play. What you sending them? What you sending? Oh, man, whoever I was sponsored by or endorsed by, Joe, I was sending it to the secondary.

1:21:07Joe Johnson:No matter what it was. That's one thing. Joe, I made a checklist before the season started, right? Yeah. I put the checklist in my locker with everybody's name on it. Week to week, Joe. Joe, do you know how hard it is to go out there and perform every week after you're checking dude's name off and all they have to do is stop you one time?

1:21:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:21:24Joe Johnson:Just one time.

1:21:25Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:21:25Joe Johnson:Four quarters in the game, Joe. 65, 70 plays. You give me one time, boy, you're getting the check off. So in a sense, some people take it as disrespect. I took it as I have to do this. I have no choice but to add this unnecessary pressure to force me to play at a high level. Yeah. Let me ask you this. It's weird. What kind of gimmicks and antics? Let me ask you this. But I enjoyed it. It's weird.

1:21:50Shannon Sharpe:I don't know why. You enjoyed it because you're putting up 90, 1300, 1400 yards. If you're playing like you played in New England, are you enjoying the blues? Mm-mm. Exactly. See, when you play, because, see, you know, you're playing above the blues. Yeah. See, that's one thing. you're looking at like yeah I'm doing what I'm doing it's allowing you to do that even if Coach Belichick would have allowed you to do that you wouldn't do that because you're not that integral of a part of the offense you're not now all of a sudden you're Chad Johnson again you're not even Ocho you can't even be Ocho so the use of because in Cincinnati if they're booing you're like they ain't booing me because I'm doing my job they booing y 'all that just happened to be going out there with y 'all I just happened to be you know what it is Ocho I'm just happened to be like my grandma said boy you just with the wrong crowd.

1:22:44Shannon Sharpe:That's how you look. See, that's how you process Ocho. I know how you think. Being around you now, you're like, name boy Ocho. Ocho cooking.

1:22:56Joe Johnson:You know what else that comes from too, Joe? What was that? What else that comes from too, Uncle Joe? What was that? Not only studying and being a student of the game because I was a student of the game no different than Tom Brady, no different than Peyton Manning and understanding what I'm going to see and knowing every intricate part of what they're doing defensively. That's the only way to pull out what I'm doing. I was a student, Joe.

1:23:18Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:23:19Joe Johnson:When that whistle blew, that was a character. Yeah. I flipped that switch. Let me go ahead and have some fun, but I'm able to have fun and do some of the crazy shit I was doing because I'm locked in front of that laptop, Joe. I need to know everything down the distance. Okay, what are you doing? He lined up in front of me with that safety coming down. Okay, he's not really blitzing. Joe, everything. when, Joe, it got to the point where I was so good at reading defenses based on the offensive linemen, based on what the offensive linemen doing and knowing what they're doing when the back is shifting and the safety is rotating.

1:23:50Joe Johnson:Joe, I had it down to a T. And I was so comfortable. The game was moving so slow to me. It was moving slow. Yeah, you know why? Sean has to have confidence.

1:24:00Shannon Sharpe:You said something very interesting, Ocho. You said you was a character on Sunday, but you was a student through the week, which allowed you to be a character. So you couldn't be a character during the course of the week and then be a student on Sunday. So that allowed you, because you were a student of the game, it allowed you to play fast on Sunday. There was no hesitation in your game because, like you said, you knew when they were rocking and rolling with those safeties, you knew, shut up. You got help over the top. You pretended like you got me man to man. You ain't doing nothing. Shut your mouth.

1:24:34Shannon Sharpe:So that allowed you, and that's why it's going to happen. There's going to be some time that we see something, we think we see a coverage, the quarterback see it differently, and then now we've got to go to the sideline. We don't got to – they got to play in full, and they go to the tablet, and they look at their tablet, and they be like, oh, this is what it was. We had to look at a steal. It take one second, and you're like, damn. See, this is what I saw. This is what I'm thinking. Nah, but further on, you'll see the guy rotates and it's a different coverage than what you thought. That's going to happen.

1:25:12Shannon Sharpe:That's going to happen. And that's what I tell guys. If you want to play easy and free on Sunday, master. The game is not won on Sundays. People think games are won on Sundays. Games are won during the week. You just happen to display what you're doing on a Sunday. But the game is won Monday through Friday. I wish people just – I wish guys understood that. Yeah. Whatever you want to be. I don't want everyone to – because some guys, they need to be able to go out, Joe. Some guys need to – they got to go out, Joe. They got to. They got to drink. They got to. I don't care. As long as you know what you're supposed to do come Sunday, whatever you got going on Monday through Friday, that's between you and whoever you're dealing with.

1:26:00Shannon Sharpe:That ain't got nothing to do with Shane. Now, if it started impacting Shane's ability to get to the playoffs, now, man, you're going to have to have a discussion. We're going to have a sit-down. You're messing with the church's money. Yeah. Yeah.

1:26:15Joe Johnson:Hey, who called the plays over there in Cleveland, huh? Todd Munkin's going to call them. Oh, you're going to call the plays? Todd Munkin, as a coach, you know your quarterback strengths. You've been there since March, OTA's training camp. You've had two preseason games. You're probably going to have a third one. He's probably not going to play the third game. You know what he's good at. You know what your team is good at offensively and what they're not. That play calling, Unc, you've got to find a rhythm. You've got to get the time and the rhythm early. I'm not talking about nothing deep. Get the ball out of his hands real quick so he can build his confidence.

1:26:50Joe Johnson:That's what they've been doing, Hojo. Once you get that confidence, you just go from there. You keep on building on it. Keep on building on it. Keep on building on it until he's looking like himself again, if he can ever find that.

1:27:07Shannon Sharpe:Jaguar Gator 9 says, watch the entire presser. He never praised Watson outside of his ability to come back from an injury. He praised Shadour a ton, had glowing one-minute answers any time Shadour was brought up. He said it was an organizational decision when he asked if the call made was his. This was definitely not a Munkin call. What a train wreck. We have the sound from Todd Munkin addressing how Chadual reacted to being named Deshaun's backup. Let's take a listen to what Munkin had to say. He was awesome. I mean, you talk about somebody that really understands the long game. That really, I think, has come to understand the long game.

1:27:51Right? What are we really in this for? What am I in it for? to have the Browns be an organization that people aspire to be, right? The long game, right? Where do we want to be in the long term, right? Whatever that, and he understands that as well as a quarterback, right? Where he was at, where he's at now, where he wants to get to. That is what's so awesome about Shadour understanding that. Really, he does. We met this morning for a good long time, and all he had was a smile on his face because he understands what really is in front of him, not really a short-term, maybe long-term decision. I mean, this is like a player, like, he's going to work his butt off to get better, and he has already.

1:28:38Shannon Sharpe:You can tell Todd Munkin definitely likes Shadour. I can just imagine he's smiling kind of like his dad, like Ty would be smiling in that voice. Like, I did the best I can do. It's out of my hands now. because all you can do is the best you can do. That's all I can do, Joe. And whatever decision, whatever you do, we do a lot of times in a relationship, I can just love you as hard as I can love you. And if that's not enough, it's not enough. Okay, you told me I didn't do enough in the OTAs and the minicamp and in the games when I was in there to do enough. Okay, I got to live with that and just try to get better.

1:29:16Shannon Sharpe:That's all I can do is try to get better. Yeah. Hey, if I'm Shador, you just got to continue to prepare. As if you was a starter, Uncle Ocho, stay engaged. Obviously, I think he's going to do that. And, man, you just got to be patient and wait your turn, bro.

1:29:37Joe Johnson:It's coming. This time is coming, Joe. Oh, it's going to come. I can tell you that. One thing about football season, they ain't going to be 18-0, Uncle Joe.

1:29:48Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:29:48Joe Johnson:It's going to be that. It's going to be some ebbs and some flows. It's going to be some peaks and some valleys. It's going to be some highs and some lows. That leash is very short. I'm telling you, they got to come out that gate, either 2-0 or 1-1, coming to that third game. They got to. Ocho, did you start your rookie year, Ocho? Hell no. Remember, they had Darnie Scott, Ron Dugan, and Peter Ward.

1:30:11Shannon Sharpe:Those were the start. Joe, you didn't start. So we know what you do. I know because I'm calling my brother and saying, man, come on, man, spank, man. I'm ready, man. He said, hey, be patient. He said, one day, John Elway going to call your number. Just make sure when he calls you a number, you answer that call. Man, I'm cooking in practice, man. I'm giving these boys this work. He said, hey, be patient. Hey, Shep, your time going to come. And when your time comes, just be ready. That's all I'm saying. Just be ready. Hey, John see you out there working. then sitting down and talking to him he saw me working he saw something in me I ain't even know like I just saw how hard you work I saw how talented you were you did yeah you ain't tell me that I wish you had told me that at the time so 40 years 40 years ago but that ain't what you told me so I understand what you do is going through as a guy that feel that like my rookie year no I wasn't ready but my second and third year especially halfway through my second year and my third year I was completely ready I felt I could handle more I thought they could put more on my plate and I would be ready to answer the bell and when they started to give me more and more John started to have more and more confidence because I was the biggest the biggest receiver that he had, even though I was a tight end, they lined me up all over the place.

1:31:38Shannon Sharpe:So I understand what Shadour is going through. He's like, damn, but I'm ready. But hey, he believes, hey, God don't make no mistakes.

1:31:48Joe Johnson:At all.

1:31:48Shannon Sharpe:When your time to come, the only advice Shadour I can give you is that when your time come, shine. Hello. That's all I can give you.

1:31:57Joe Johnson:I definitely wasn't ready.

1:31:58Shannon Sharpe:I can't tell you how to play that position because I didn't play it at that level. I didn't play it at the collegiate level, and I didn't play it at the NFL level. So I can't give you any advice on how to play your position. But I will tell you this. When the opportunity presents itself, hit it out the park. When you get your pitch, hit it. Hey, I ain't going to lie. It took me three years to really figure it out, too, Arkan Ocho. I'm playing behind Penny Hardaway, Stephon Marbury, Sean Marion. These are all, I mean, come on, man. So as a youngster, I'm 21 years old. So, you know, and every time I do get out there and play, I was so inconsistent, Uncle Ocho, my first two years in the NBA because when I did get out there and play, I'm like, damn, I'll make a turnover.

1:32:42Shannon Sharpe:I know Penny at the score table. He coming to get me. You know what I mean? It's hard playing when you have to continue to look over your shoulder, especially when you got cats who you've idolized and you've watched, you know, throughout your childhood years. I grew up watching Steph play. I grew up idolizing Penny. I grew up watching Sean. So it wasn't until they traded them dudes, bro. When they traded Penny Hardaway and Stephon Marbury is when I felt like my opportunity really came. And I was gone, bro. I was gone. See, it's a difference when you get out there. And I know, boom, I can make these mistakes freely.

1:33:14Shannon Sharpe:And I ain't got to look back and see, damn, okay, Penny at the scores table. You know what I mean? It's a huge difference, bro. It's a huge difference.

1:33:21Joe Johnson:You heard what he just said, huh? Hey, chat, you heard what Joe just said? And that's the one thing, even though Deshaun is a starter, that's the one thing that worries me. That's the one thing that worries me. Being gun-shy, being scared to make mistakes instead of playing freely. Yeah, it's hard. Instead of playing freely. You're not playing football. You're not giving your team the best chance to win. If you're worried about making mistakes, just play. I'm hoping that you got to be that confident. His confidence is shot right now. Yeah, for sure.

1:33:51Shannon Sharpe:And you can understand why.

1:33:53Joe Johnson:He had no confidence, Joe. He had not. I can see it, Ojo. I'm watching. I see it, bro. Yeah, it's going to be up to Todd Munkin, man. He got to get young bull in rhythm. He got to. He got to get him in rhythm early with some easy throws, crosses, little screen, just so he get to get that rhythm back on short stuff. I'm telling you, it's like riding a bike. Joe, something you do, you fall, you fall, you fall. You get to go into it enough, and you get that rhythm back.

1:34:21Shannon Sharpe:That's how it was. Joe, you said something here, Trish. You said it wasn't until. That's how it was. I mean, once they started moving out, a lot of those guys, all the tight ends that was there when I got there. Danny released them, started releasing them. The receivers in my third year, Wade released a lot of them. He brought Vijay back, but for the most part, I was like, okay. He tried to tell me something. He tried to tell me they believe I can be the guy. Yeah. And you get that opportunity, boy. That's what I wait for. I don't care how it looks. Look, okay, Ocho, I got my opportunity. We wasn't nowhere near in the playoffs.

1:35:01Shannon Sharpe:But, boy, I was out there doing my thing. You hear me? Yes. You did your one-two, Joe? Yeah, I had my one-two going, Ocho. Hey, all I want to do is be able to get out there, feel comfortable, and look like I belong, bro. Period. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.

PrEP stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis, and it means routinely taking prescription medicine before you're exposed to HIV to help reduce your chances of getting it. PrEP can be about 99 % effective when taken as prescribed. It doesn't protect against other STIs, though, so be sure to use condoms and other healthy sex practices.
