2:09Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, it seems to be Aaron Rodgers is returning for one more season and it appears increasingly likely per Tom Pellicero. The odds are rising that he comes back. I don't see it being any other place. If he's going to play, I believe it's going to be for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ocho?
2:28Chad Johnson:Yeah.
2:30Shannon Sharpe:New head coach, familiarity, Mike McCarthy. Even if he comes back, are the Steelers legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl next season?
2:44Chad Johnson:I mean, I wouldn't say legitimate contenders. I mean, they're legitimate contenders in the ASC, you know, depending on what the... AFC North. AFC North. But they still got a long way to go. They got to work on that defense too, huh? As great as the players, as great as the names are, you know, that they had on that defense. They didn't play like it, huh? No. They didn't play like it. They need another weapon to go alongside D.K. Metcalf. They do. They need another... I'm talking about a reliable option to go along D.K. Metcalf. He can't do it by himself. Obviously, as great as Aaron Rodgers was, He is not the Aaron Rodgers of old, but he needs players around him to elevate his level of play.
3:23Chad Johnson:So he doesn't have to wait, wait. He doesn't have to take the burden of the shoulders and having to elevate the players around him because he's not the same. He's not the young Aaron Rodgers of old, and it would be great if they get a better supporting cast around him. I mean, running game is decent. Get you one solid receiver, just one more receiver that you can count on, that you can be blindfolded. You hike the ball and you know exactly where it's going to be and you know it's going to be open for you every single time.
3:50Shannon Sharpe:You mean shoulder to burden?
3:51Chad Johnson:They need it bad, boy. Huh? You mean shoulder to burden? Yeah, shoulder to burden. Shoulder to burden. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I ain't had to use that in so long. You got it.
4:00Shannon Sharpe:I was like, hold on.
4:02Chad Johnson:What did I say? Bird to shoulder. What did I say?
4:04Shannon Sharpe:You said bird to shoulder.
4:05Chad Johnson:I said it backwards. My bad. Yeah.
4:08Shannon Sharpe:No, but you know what, Ocho? You Ocho, we already know what you meant.
4:11Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah. I appreciate that. I appreciate that.
4:14Shannon Sharpe:I appreciate that. Yeah, I agree, Ocho. I agree. I mean, because, you know, look, I don't think – look, it's going to be very interesting to see the Patriots, can they replicate because they won the division, you'll have a more difficult schedule. You'll play division winners and you'll play a different conference this year. Buffalo, what do they do? The Broncos, what do they do? The Texans, what do they do? All those teams, you know, the Texans, that defense, I don't see that defense dropping off. Hell no. Maybe, Ocho, they go get a protector. Okay. Because I don't really see. I don't think they need a whole lot.
5:00Shannon Sharpe:I don't think they need a whole lot because they got guys they can go get after the quarterback. The secondary. That secondary is top tier. Phenomenal. Yes. Yes. Oh, yes.
5:11Chad Johnson:Yeah. Tankdale coming back?
5:13Shannon Sharpe:Yes. You know, they got a couple of receivers that played really well in the absence of Tankdale.
5:23Shannon Sharpe:I wouldn't be opposed if they went and got a tight end. I like Dalton Schultz, but if I can find somebody that, look, we saw the tight end, the benefit that it brought Chicago. we saw what it did for Warren and Indy we saw Kyle Pitts Jr. when they gave him opportunities how the offense flows when they get the tight end involved right and so I I agree with you I'm not like oh yeah Aaron Rodgers come back and now they got McCarthy and they're gonna be favorites no
6:05Chad Johnson:No. No. But what it does do, it gives you a chance. It gives you a chance to compete. Because if Aaron Rodgers doesn't come back, oh, my goodness, it's going to get ugly. It's going to be nasty.
6:20Shannon Sharpe:Sean Mannion replaced Kevin Petula as the Eagles' OC, and Saquon said he loved the challenge of putting yourself in a new system, and that's what he knows. This is what sets us apart from everyone else that he's played for so far, Saquon said, I'm super excited about it. I'm going on year nine, which is crazy to say. I've had a lot of different coaches and head coaches and been a part of a lot of systems. I don't think I really came across a system like this. For me, it's refreshing. You get something new. You get to learn something new. I ain't going to lie to you, Ocho. I ain't like learning a new system.
6:54Shannon Sharpe:No, I mean, I wouldn't either. Because you got to think, because while you learned it, Ocho, you out there like, damn, am I supposed? Mm-hmm. I look like take it off yeah
7:05Chad Johnson:go ahead what you thinking the best part of being in the system and having continuity of knowing exactly what to do and being able to play the game really fast and not having to think you know it is a great thing obviously you have the offseason program you get to get in your playbook and by the time you get to the season you'll be familiar with the new system but just having the old one and knowing everything from front to back it pays dividends. It pays dividends where you can just go play. All you have to do is just read and react. Read and react. It's a great thing. Doesn't it feel good to don't have to take your playbook home?
7:44Chad Johnson:Listen.
7:45Shannon Sharpe:Man, I got some sick of taking that playbook home my first two years, Ocho. Damn. I'm like, man. Only best part about it, I'm home by myself. It's kind of like when I went back to school to finish up my degree, Ocho, and I'm sitting in class and I ain't much old. Ocho, I'm 20. I'm 22. Right. I just turned 22, so I graduated before my 23rd birthday. And I'm sitting up in class, I'm like, damn. I feel old. Even though I'm only 23, Ocho, but I think my mindset. I'm like, man, I'm in the NFL. I should be in here. But I was like, man, I am not, hey, I'm 20 hours short of a degree.
8:25Chad Johnson:Right.
8:25Shannon Sharpe:Man, I'm finna get this. I'm finna get this. Hey, Ocho, I'm finna get this degree.
8:30Chad Johnson:Right.
8:30Shannon Sharpe:oh hell yeah but uh and it's like just to study it man I just and once I get it I'm good
8:41Chad Johnson:I'm good yeah
8:43Shannon Sharpe:and but uh but you know some people say it's like that so you know some people you know uh uh it's refreshing to them and you hear St. Kwan use it's refreshing to learn a new system and to be you know all of a sudden you know it's just not second nature to you right uh You think you have a bounce-back season?
9:03Chad Johnson:It depends if that offensive line stays healthy. It all depends on Lane Johnson and Dickerson. Yeah, if everybody comes back healthy and they're fine, I think he can have a bounce-back season. In year nine, I don't see SACOR slowing down at all. Anytime soon, barring injury, if he can stay healthy and that offensive line stay healthy, hell, I can see them back exactly where they need to be, and that's competing for a championship.
9:31Shannon Sharpe:I think the thing is, is that, you know, everything is really contingent because, but this offense, they made a concerted effort. Saquon Barkley is, y 'all are not going to beat us running this damn football. That's not going to happen. Right. So if you're going to beat us, your quarterback, he's going to have to beat us throwing the football. Saquon is not going to do what he did last year. It's not going to happen. I'm sorry, Eagles. Right. And it definitely hurt. that Lane got hurt. Dickinson was dealing with what he was dealing with all year long. I think he had surgery right before the season.
10:08Shannon Sharpe:The center had surgery, if I'm not mistaken, in the offseason. So now, instead of rehabbing, he'll get the train. Hopefully, Dickinson will be fully healthy. He'll get the train. Lane is coming off an injury, so he had that. I don't know if he had. Did he have surgery for this Lillis Frank? Because I know he had a Lillis Frank. I don't know if he had surgery or he let it heal on his own. So hopefully, and when, look, he's just one of the best, he's one of the best offensive linemen in all of football, regardless of position. Right. And with that being said, if they go back to being dominant, it makes everybody's jobs on the offensive side of football easier.

12:26Shannon Sharpe:you fall back and now they springing forward. Damn damn February. I think it used to be in April. Damn around Easter time.
12:36Chad Johnson:Uh-huh. Damn, man. Hey, buddy, you're going by fab. We already going into March.
12:43Shannon Sharpe:I just told my sister and I just had this conversation. I said, we're about to be three months into 26.

13:18Shannon Sharpe:I would tell you like my grandpa You say whatever the Lord see fit
13:27Hey
13:30Shannon Sharpe:I like that Whatever the Lord see fit I'm not a big
13:38Chad Johnson:Party at all Joe Me neither I haven't had a party for my birthday yet I say a prayer at 1159 Hold on. Somebody say, hold on.
13:46Shannon Sharpe:They say we spring forward in March? I know damn well we ain't about to spring forward already. We just fell back two months ago.
13:55Chad Johnson:Hold on, what you mean? I'm confused. What that mean? You set the clocks up. Okay. So that mean we lose an hour of sleep? Yes. Okay.
14:04Shannon Sharpe:We just fell back two months ago. What the hell?
14:07Chad Johnson:It's crazy how that worked there, huh?
14:09Shannon Sharpe:Man, spring forward used to be after Easter. Mm-hmm. Pretty soon they're going to have Easter. I mean, Easter used to be like the third weekend in April. They got Easter on the first weekend, the second weekend. Pretty soon they're going to have Easter. They're going to have St. Paddy's Day, and then a week later have Easter.
14:24Chad Johnson:Yeah.
14:26Shannon Sharpe:Damn.
14:32Shannon Sharpe:Man. But the Eagles, look, the one thing you can't count the Eagles out. Because the one thing that we know about Jeffrey Lourd, that he gives Howie Roseman a lot of control. And Howie has done a great job of assembling this team. He knows when to bring pieces in. He knows when to get off pieces.

18:22Shannon Sharpe:New Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle emphasized the importance of off-season workout. He didn't single out any player, but probably didn't need to. We would expect players to be here, and certainly it is voluntary, but if you want to say that you're going to win a championship, you want to say that you have championship standards, those are the goals, those are the expectations. Certainly, that's going to take work. That's going to take collaboration, and that's going to take the beginning of building of a relationship with their coaches and other players starting the next regime on the right foot.
18:59Ocho, you know
19:00Chad Johnson:who you're talking to. I think he's talking to everybody because I think the conversation with, what's his own name that looked like he part of the mob? Steve Bishotti. Yeah, Bishotti and Lamar had already had that conversation about him being there in the offseason and taking part in the offseason program. So we already know he going to show up. Now, I think he wants to make sure everyone else is on board.
19:24Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, stop that. You know he's not talking to but one person. Everybody else goes, which guy hasn't been there seven of the last off-seasons? Last seven of the late off-seasons, which guy hadn't shown up?
19:36Chad Johnson:Time out. Time out. We talk about the D coordinator, right? We talk about the offensive coordinator. The offensive coordinator ain't calling out motherfucking Lamar Jackson. I can tell you that. Okay. I guarantee you that. No, he didn't call. The new offensive coordinator is not calling out the team franchise leader.
19:54Shannon Sharpe:Ocho.
19:54Chad Johnson:After you already had a conversation with the owner. The same one who was up for contract extension. He's not calling him out. Which guy? You don't want to start that. Just answer me this. Let me finish. Let me finish. Let me finish. You are not going to be the new offensive coordinator and come in talking shit already and piss the man off. Now you're starting a relationship off on the wrong goddamn foot. He's not talking to Lamar. He's talking to everybody. We're not finna do that.
20:20Shannon Sharpe:Okay, he's talking to everybody. Which guy has not been participating in the voluntary OTAs the last seven of the eight years?
20:29Chad Johnson:I mean, Lamar has it, and I'm sure other people haven't as well.
20:33Shannon Sharpe:Okay.
20:34Chad Johnson:Joe, what do you think about that, Joe?
20:40Shannon Sharpe:So because now you're saying everybody is just as important as Lamar. But go ahead, Joe, go ahead, finish off. Listen, I'm catching up. I'm picking up what y 'all are putting down.
20:51Chad Johnson:You hear me? I mean, I understand what you mean.
20:57Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Unc, you saying it's the offensive coordinator. Because what happens, Joe? You know they talking about Lamar. What you do is that you talk. You know who he's talking to. There's a lot of times that they would talk. They would talk. They're talking to the best player. but they're not there you go indirectly yeah no I guarantee you
21:21Chad Johnson:I guarantee he not I guarantee you because all it's going to do is piss him off what you mean why it's going to piss him off he hasn't been there in the off season you're not going to get no new job and to get out here talking trash like that hit my line if you need me there I don't need you I got to tell you I need you there
21:42Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. No, if he ain't been there the past seven, eight years. So who's he talking to? Thank you. I appreciate that. Thank you. That's what I needed you to say right there. He ain't talking to him.
21:51Chad Johnson:I guarantee you. You think I did that joke? You think I did that joke? Hey, and you know what? I guarantee you're not talking to him.
21:59Shannon Sharpe:You think I did that joke? Put a name on it.
22:01Chad Johnson:Y 'all see how I did that right there? Hold on. Put a name on it. Put a name on it. Put a name on it. Because what's going to happen is, what's going to happen is, is you're going to piss him off and this or this new coordinator that's coming in trying to what what what what precedent is he trying to say he's saying hold on what precedent let me finish what precedent are you setting calling out the starting fucking quarterback publicly what are we doing that's stupid
22:27Shannon Sharpe:we would expect players to be here and certainly it is voluntary but if you want to say that you're going to win a championship. You say you want to have championship standards, and those are your goals, your expectations. Certainly, that's going to take some work, and it's going to take collaboration. So is the offensive coordinator collaborating with the defensive? Is he coordinating with the wide receivers, the offensive line? Who is he in collaboration with, Ocho? Nope.
23:04Shannon Sharpe:You know I'm supposed to be a lawyer, right?
23:07Chad Johnson:I could have been one too. And I guarantee he ain't talking to him. Guarantee that. And I guarantee he don't show up.
23:17Shannon Sharpe:Nah, he don't. I bet that.
23:19Chad Johnson:You want to get a new job. You want to be goddamn spoilt. He's trying to show up because you got a new job as an officer coordinator. And you call not your starting quarterback. You're starting franchise quarterback. I guarantee he won't show up just to show you. I mean, you don't do nothing like that coming in as a new coach. You don't do that. Oh, Joe. You don't call. You don't call. It's dumb. It's stupid. Oh, Joe. It's dumb and it's stupid. Why would you piss off your quarterback with a message like that? What sense does that make?
23:52Shannon Sharpe:What you missing the point. Let me ask you this. There is no point.
23:56Chad Johnson:if you want Lamar to show up you text Lamar I want you if this is what you're trying to do if this is what you're trying to do let me finish everything he just said publicly he could have said that to Lamar if you want Lamar to show up what are you proving saying it publicly what are you doing who's it going to piss off tell me
24:17Shannon Sharpe:who's it going to piss off all I remember is a guy saying he wanted to win a championship more than anything but I need to call you and ask you to show up. Interesting.
24:29Chad Johnson:So you go out publicly and you get a new job and you call out the franchise quarterback. That's going to work out real fucking well. Okay.
24:42Chad Johnson:Come on, man. I'm trying to figure out. Hold on.
24:45Shannon Sharpe:I'm trying to figure out. Let's go back and see what quarterback has won a championship that didn't participate in OTAs. All those years except the last three years of Tom. So you think calling out Lamar Jackson is going to work. Let me finish my point.
25:05Chad Johnson:So you think calling out your franchise quarterback is going to get you to the championship. Yeah, that's real smart. Good job. Good job, officer coordinator. Let's call out the franchise quarterback.
25:16Shannon Sharpe:Let me ask you a question. You think Sam Darnold participated in OTAs last year? do you think Drake May participated in OTAs last year? Tell me the quarterback that you don't think participated in OTAs, Ocho.
25:35Chad Johnson:What does that have to do with what we're talking about? So in other words, you just, hold on. Again, I'm going to say it one more time because it seems to be going in one ear and out the other. So calling out your franchise quarterback is the way to go about doing things when you wanted to show up to OTAs. Is that what you're saying? All the man said is he didn't single out nobody. And you said he's talking to Lamar Jackson, the person that hadn't showed up. So is that the way to go about doing it? Calling out your franchise quarterback publicly. How is that supposed to help anything outside of just pissing him off?
26:10Shannon Sharpe:Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I tell you what, he's going to be more pissed if he go another year and don't get to the Super Bowl. the criticism is going to grow louder and louder and louder and louder
26:29Chad Johnson:okay I got a question he shows up the OTAs and they'll go to the Super Bowl then what? Ocho we had
26:37Shannon Sharpe:this conversation working hard and then what? This is a new system this is a new system he's been in that system done before, Ocho. Come on, what is it that you don't understand, Ocho? You don't call out your fucking franchise quarterback. You said he wasn't talking to him.
27:00Chad Johnson:You said you weren't talking to him. You don't do it. You don't do it. You're going to piss him off. Hold on. You know that.
27:10Shannon Sharpe:Did Belichick call out Brady? Did Belichick call out Brady?
27:16Chad Johnson:You talk about they won six Super Bowls in there but five Super Bowls
27:20Shannon Sharpe:What are you talking about? And he called out Tom Brady who he won six Super Bowls with but you mean to tell me Lamar Jackson can't get called out?
27:31Chad Johnson:So you really compare Lamar Jackson to Tom Brady? That's what I'm asking you Are we doing that? That's what I'm asking you That's the point No listen Let me finish The new officer coordinator who I don't even effing know calls out the franchise quarterback and you're comparing that to what Tom Brady and Bill Belichick did? Are you serious?
27:50Shannon Sharpe:I'm just asking you.
27:51Chad Johnson:Are you serious?
27:52Shannon Sharpe:A guy that won six Super Bowls got called out, but a guy that hadn't been to the Super Bowl, he can't get, he's above reproach.
28:01Chad Johnson:You know what? Don't worry about it. Okay. I say we, what we're not going to do is we're not going to have common sense here.
28:08Shannon Sharpe:Because call the rule number one.
28:11Chad Johnson:Listen, listen to me. Call the rule number one. You never chastise your quarterback. That is the only coach the only coach that has ever called out. But you said you don't chastise your quarterback. Let me finish. He can do that. Why? They had that relationship. What relationship they had? Let me finish. They had the relationship to set the tone for everybody else to let everybody else know. Thank you. It's an even playing field here. Thank you. That's how you set the tone.
28:36Shannon Sharpe:Thank you, Ocho. You see, Joe, what I do? You see how I want you walking into the trap? You set They've been told.
28:44Chad Johnson:What's trap? They've won four or five Super Bowls. They haven't. What are we talking about? Let me ask you a question. I'm trying to compare two. Let me ask you a question.
28:52Shannon Sharpe:It's not the same. Let me ask you a question. So do you think Coach Belichick called Tom Brady out before or after he won a Super Bowl? They had already won two. No, they did not. Stop it, Ocho. They had won four. It was 2011. What are you talking about? I was told, I was told that he called him out from the beginning. So Tom Brady has never been above reproach. Go ask the other guys that played on the team.
29:18Chad Johnson:Why are we talking about the Patriots? We're talking about the Baltimore Ravens. And a new officer coordinator calling out his franchise quarterback publicly.
29:26Shannon Sharpe:You said is that that's how you set the tone. Coach Belichick was setting the tone. But now you don't want this coach to set a tone. Tony, what Tony you said and pissed off your quarterback? Why are you pissing him off? He just asked if you want to win. You got standards. You got to do things a certain way. You can text me that.
29:46Chad Johnson:If you're talking to him, what sense are you making? What are you trying to prove saying it publicly? If you want Lamar there, you text Lamar and tell him, I would like you here for the offseason because we have a new game plan.
29:57Shannon Sharpe:Joe, your coaches ever called you and said they wanted you to be somewhere, Joe? Or you just did the right thing because you knew it was important? Hold on! Now you're saying. You had Joe turn to talk. It's voluntary. Let Joe talk. Now you're saying. Let Joe talk. You ain't going to let Joe talk?
30:11Chad Johnson:No. It's voluntary. You ain't going to let Joe talk? So now it's the right thing. Now it's the right thing. So it's being. It's voluntary. He doesn't want to be there.
30:17Shannon Sharpe:Guess what else is voluntary? Being great.
30:19Chad Johnson:What?
30:21Shannon Sharpe:That's voluntary, isn't it, Joe? He is great. There ain't no. He is great. What are you saying? Go ahead, Joe. What were you saying, Joe?
30:26Chad Johnson:Hold on. So Lamar's not great? Are you saying Lamar's not great? You're not going to let Joe talk.
30:31Shannon Sharpe:You're not going to let Joe talk. Lamar's not great. The two-time MVP's not great. Joe, you're not going to let the man talk, Ojo. Go ahead.
30:45Shannon Sharpe:Go ahead, Joe. Yeah, yeah. Hey, look, anytime you have something volunteer and you show up, obviously, you know, coaches appreciate that, but not only that, like, if he's been doing the same thing over the past seven, eight years, Ojo, I think coach is trying to send a message, bro. Like, in order for us to reach something that we've never had before, obviously we got to do something we've never done or hadn't been doing. That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying.
31:18Chad Johnson:Yeah, and you know what? I hope, for the coach's sake, since he's setting the goddamn tone in goddamn February, I hope they end up in, with a goddamn Super Bowl next year. LA? I hope the Ravens in goddamn LA next year. Since he want to come out and be big badass instead of just texting him, I would like you to be here for the all-season program.
31:42Shannon Sharpe:I would have thought that, you know, because it's reported. Now, I don't know if it's true that Lamar was a part of the hiring process. Now, I don't know with the head coach. Now, I don't know if he's a part of the hiring process with the offensive coordinator. But normally, normally normally when you have a new staff even though it's voluntary you show up because of the importance of it it's a new system both offensively and defensively and your best player he sets the tone for everyone else if your best player is there everybody else will feel obligated and come and you get a head start on things
32:32Shannon Sharpe:trying to develop that chemistry and continuity early because it's a new system we've been i've been through this with way phillips have been through it with uh uh mike came there and then when i went to baltimore it was a new system so i went for the otas even though i didn't do a whole lot, but I thought it was important for my presence to be there. Yeah. Yeah. Ocho, you ain't never had to switch systems like that? I'll see, yeah.
32:59Chad Johnson:Yeah, but I mean, I was always the off-season program.
33:06Chad Johnson:Dang, Ocho, man, you got a little sandwich, man. God dang. Man, you got any coaches coming here talking all that shit, man, green ass, nigga, man. Who you supposed to be? You trying to prove something, trying to show off like you're running something. Man, just text me. Green-head, peanut-head-head coach, man. He trying to show off. He trying to show off, man.
33:30Shannon Sharpe:That man ain't trying to show off, Ocho. Stall him out, man.
33:32Chad Johnson:He ain't trying to show off, man. All that's unnecessary. Man, text me. You want to see me.
33:46Shannon Sharpe:Hey OJ, you about to lose your voice for what?
33:49Chad Johnson:Hey, come on, Unc. Look at that. Hold on, hold on, hold on. No, no, no. You know, Unc, I like when we get into it like this. We've gotten into it like this in a long time.
33:58Shannon Sharpe:If the chat be getting upset, but they don't know, man, this man be calling me, talking about Unc, I want to argue tonight. For what? He got to argue. This man, Jack, beat you up. I want to argue tonight. I'm like, we ain't got no problem to argue about.
34:15Chad Johnson:I'm just saying, as a player, as a player, I mean, it's just unnecessary. You know, you're a new coach, you're coming in. I understand you want to set the tone. You want to establish yourself as an officer coordinator, but there's no need to say what you said publicly. You know, that conversation is something that's to be had with Lamar Jackson. when you say something like that to the player that hasn't been there, you know, seven of the last eight years. I mean, why are you even calling me out? You know, you already know how players are, don't you? And if it's any player, you know, and you hear your coach say that, well, God damn, you could have just, you could have hit my line.
34:53Chad Johnson:You know? And so, like, I mean, I just think it's green. No disrespect to coach, man. Hey, you done called a man peanut. You don't talk about you who got no disrespect. You done called a man no peanut head. I'm not really talking to him. I'm just referencing his act and what he said publicly. That's all. I'm sorry. I apologize, Chad. I'm sorry. What you apologizing for? Unk got me... Unk, you got me worked up, Joe. Joe, I don't never get like this, Joe. I know, man. Got my man blood pressure up high and everything. Unk, you know what I'm saying? I'm sweating, man. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Unk, remember the last time me and Unk was like this?
35:35Chad Johnson:Joe, we were talking about Boots and Boots and Boots and Remember we were talking about Boots Boots and Haney And he would tell me to pick between one and the other Boy, Joe Boots and Haney No, Boots and Terrence Crawford He was telling me Man, you gotta pick one or the other No, I ain't gotta pick either one
35:59Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Boots Cole, I like Boots, Ojo
36:00Chad Johnson:Hey, Joe, boy, we were going at it, boy
36:04Shannon Sharpe:Look That was a long time ago. That he get passionate about. He just gloss over. But once I see what I know will get it, go. What do you say? Let me finish my point. Okay, go ahead. I said, well, damn, I thought you were done.

39:17Shannon Sharpe:You got another point to make?
39:20Chad Johnson:My bad, my bad. Okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Chef.
39:25Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I just think the thing is that if what was reported is true, that the kind of relationship with Monk and Lamar had kind of deteriorated, I think he's going to look at this as a breath of fresh air. Give him an opportunity to get there. Because no matter what you think, especially when you're dealing with Lamar, he's the table setter. He's the guy that everybody's looking to. And when he's there, all is right in the world in Baltimore, in Raven country, Raven's flock. All is right when your franchise quarterback is there. like okay we're going to be alright we're going to be alright
40:14Chad Johnson:hey Joe what's up when Lamar Jackson won those two MVPs he wasn't there in the offseason well the first one he was he was there
40:26Shannon Sharpe:hey ain't he up is he up is he up for yes
40:29Chad Johnson:oh ain't nobody no being up he's getting his contract done this offseason they redoing it
40:34Shannon Sharpe:yes for sure they're right when he's doing it his cap number too high you got you got to lower that cap number and you got to take care of it because he's outperformed the contract that he signed. And normally with quarterbacks, when you outperform the contract,
40:51Shannon Sharpe:he's well on his way to being the best player. Right now, I still think that's right.
40:59Shannon Sharpe:But I think when it's... Hey, Joe, you heard that?
41:03Chad Johnson:You heard what I just said? What's that? He's the best player. He outperformed the last... You know what? he outperformed his contract. You know, he wasn't in the offseason program last year either.
41:13Shannon Sharpe:And guess what he wasn't in the offseason? He wasn't in the Super Bowl either.
41:16Chad Johnson:What? Hey, neither were the Broncos.
41:22Hey, I'm just saying.
41:25Shannon Sharpe:I know, hey. Hey, I'm just saying. You know this and I know. There's quarterbacks. Yes, I know. When it's matter, Super Bowl matters. Yeah, you know, you can say, well, he did this, he did that. Super Bowls matter. Lamar Jackson gets a Super Bowl?
41:42Chad Johnson:Oh, it's a wrap. That monkey off his back. He can play the rest of his career in cruise control.
41:47Shannon Sharpe:He get to the Super Bowl, he might win another two MVPs. Yeah. Because now, because there is, because he wanted, oh man, you ever wanted something so bad, Joe? You want that bad, oh Joe, you know you want this thing so bad? Yeah. And you're so close. and it seems like as the time goes back, you know, having a conversation with John, he's like, man, he went to the last Super Bowl in 89 and then we didn't go back. He's like, damn. Because you think about it, he went to three in his first six years. First seven years, he goes to three Super Bowls. He didn't win them. And then there was a stretch, so we don't go in 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95.
42:30Shannon Sharpe:So that's six years. He had never gone that long without reaching the Super Bowl. So as time starts, you're like, damn. Danny Marino goes in the second year, Ocho. He plays 16 years. So for the next 14 years, he never goes back. And then you're like, damn, am I ever going to get this opportunity again? He just needs one. He gets one? I feel if he gets one, he'll win two more MVPs. Because now he really gets to play three. He really gets to play loose. I think, you know, look, and he's a phenomenal talent. But when you get those early, I mean, look at Brady. Brady played with house money. Yeah.
43:16Shannon Sharpe:Mahomes boy played with house money. You get those early. What? How you, what you going to say? Mahomes boy got three in his first nine years. First eight years as a starter. He's gone to five. Brady in his first five years, he had three Super Bowls, two MVPs. I'm free. Y 'all can't tell me nothing. I just think the thing is that I just want him to get there. I just want him to get to it. I want to see Lamar Jackson on the biggest stage. For the most part, we've always seen our greatest quarterbacks be it Elway, Marino, Kelly, Favre, Rogers, Brady, Montana, Manning. We've seen our best. On that biggest stage.
44:05Shannon Sharpe:Now, they didn't always win, Ocho. But we've seen them on that stage. We got to see Lamar on that stage. Just one time. Just where, hey, like Luther Vandross say, if only for one night. For one night. If only for one night. I got to see that man on the stage. I got to see him. I would love to see. Hey, if I don't see him in L.A., hell, I go see him in Atlanta. I might have to go see him in Atlanta. Yeah. He's special. He's special. I want to see him in that big game too, Uncle Ocho. I'm going to see him show up and show out. I mean, think about it, Ocho. We done seen Purdy in the Super Bowl. I mean, we've seen some quarterbacks not nearly as talented as Lamar.
44:58Shannon Sharpe:He too talented not to get there at least once. I don't know what's going to happen but I want to see him get there and then I'll say hey whatever happens after that he was phenomenal he didn't have his best stuff blah blah whatever the case may be but I just need to see him one time in the big dance I see him in the big dance I say oh Joe man hey he got there it didn't go his way but oh well damn that man I want to see the damn cowboys I don't know hey hey Joe
45:30Chad Johnson:I'm going to be honest with you. It's a good chance the Cowboys can be there, boy. You know how? Yeah. If you play Madden. Come on. Come on, Ocho. See how you going. I'm going to tell you.
45:43Shannon Sharpe:See how you going. I ain't said nothing about your Bengals. I ain't even got on you. You see how you at?
45:48Chad Johnson:Oh, nah. Don't get on us. Why you going to get on us? I'm just saying, if you want to see the Cowboys in the Super Bowl, I mean, just play Madden. There you go.
46:01Shannon Sharpe:You see what I'm saying? Okay. Okay. No disrespect? Yeah, all disrespect. Yeah. I think it's Declan. Declan. Deaclund?
46:20Shannon Sharpe:What is it, Chad? What are you talking about? Doyle. Declan. Declan Doyle. Declan Doyle.
46:29so
46:30Shannon Sharpe:I guess hold on when is the March well it's got to be free agency so it's got to be April the first one minicamp OTA is in April because you know with a new system you get three get three okay
46:45Chad Johnson:three minicamps okay okay okay with a new yeah
46:51Shannon Sharpe:what did you say Ash do we know when it is
46:56Chad Johnson:well the off season program start in April or is it March? Damn they start early.
47:13Shannon Sharpe:Hey when in draft? In May? Last week in April? When is it Ash? Last week in April. Where did draft
47:25Chad Johnson:Pittsburgh. Okay.
47:28Shannon Sharpe:Pittsburgh. So.
47:39Shannon Sharpe:But you, did you have a workout bonus incentive, workout bonuses in your contract, Ocho? Yeah. What was that? So what'd you have to do, Ocho? Make 90 % of the workout? Yeah.
47:54Chad Johnson:13 weeks. I mean, I would make it all up anyway. I mean, you know, honestly, if I didn't have that incentive, I still would have been there anyway to work out with Carson.
48:03Shannon Sharpe:You know why I didn't come? Because they know I like to work out. See, if they know you like to do something, Ocho, guess what? They don't incentivize it. People that they don't know that you like to work out, they put$100 ,000, a quarter of a million,$500 ,000 in their contract. They want to give me$50 a day.
48:21Chad Johnson:You good, huh?
48:22Shannon Sharpe:Oh, no.
48:23Chad Johnson:Yeah, it was a nice Yeah, I know, I know, I had teammates
48:27Shannon Sharpe:that had 150, 250, 500 ,000, but Joe, yeah, mine was 500 ,000 Man, we can't give him that, he loved to work out, so we just give him away money Right That was fun But you know, Mike, and Mike told him Mike says, I don't want, I don't want Shannon here Shannon cannot get in shape 84 cannot get in shape doing our thing like he can get in shape doing his own. But I don't trust y 'all like I trust him. Right. So, hey, I was out of there. Hey, y 'all let me know when the camps, I come to that camp. You know, we had a three-day camp. And then we had, you know, you have a three-day camp, mini-camp, and then you have a week mini-camp.
49:13Shannon Sharpe:So you come in, you get, what, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, you up out of there Saturday afternoon or whenever you leave. And then you have that week, you come in on a Monday, and if everything go good, then let you off Thursday at noon.
49:27Chad Johnson:Yeah. Boom.
49:33Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, it's with a very, very sad heart that I bring this news to you. Vikings wide receiver Rondell Moore has died at the age of 25. 51:02Damn. You don't know sometimes what a person is going through.
51:09Shannon Sharpe:And unless you've been through something, I'm talking about really been through something you have no earthly idea none everybody says all this all that you don't know I promise you you don't know you have no earthly earthly idea
51:33Shannon Sharpe:I can't even begin to fathom the burden that that young man was carrying and and my heart breaks for his family his friends, his loved ones anyone that knew Rondell more, that cared about Rondell more, my heart breaks 25 25 life just starting and he did not he thought this was his only way this is the only way that that pain would go away
52:27damn
52:31Shannon Sharpe:something so hard so heavy that someone would take their own life reportedly
52:51Shannon Sharpe:you don't know how bad pain is because you know a lot of times Ocho well I wouldn't do this I wouldn't do that everybody will say what they would or wouldn't do but until you're in that situation you never know you don't know what you'll do everybody always says that they do that's what I would have did I would have did this I would have did X, Y, and Z no you wouldn't bro
53:26Shannon Sharpe:unless you walked a mile in that man's shoes or that woman's shoes you have no earthly idea.
53:40Shannon Sharpe:You haven't.
53:45Shannon Sharpe:And as I sit here and ponder when I got the news tonight that this young man was no longer here,
53:58I'm like, what was so bad
54:02Shannon Sharpe:that he thought this was the only way? I don't know. Mmm. Mmm.
54:35Shannon Sharpe:Boy, boy, boy. You don't know. You don't know.
54:48Shannon Sharpe:And when you think you've gone through something you can't go on,
54:55Shannon Sharpe:and you feel that's your only alternative. Because a lot of times you don't know. I mean, because a lot of times don't show you, you call, hey man, how you doing? Man, I'm good, man. No, are you good? Are you really good? Because sometimes, you know, you just want to get off the phone. You don't want to be bothered. Right, right. You don't want people in your business. Mm-hmm.
55:18Shannon Sharpe:And you just like try to make the conversation. But I'm glad I have the people that I have in my life. I'll say that. Yeah. everybody doesn't have a brother and a sister like I have. And everybody don't have best friends like I have. But boy,
55:47Shannon Sharpe:Rondell's more family. I am so, so sorry. And I know words, there's nothing I can say. There's no amount of heartfelt speeches. I know absolutely nothing can ease this pain that you're going through. But what I can say is that I hope is that when you fall on your knees and you ask the man above to give you strength, to give you courage, and to give you understanding in your most trying time,
56:33Shannon Sharpe:and hopefully as time passes you will have a better understanding but it's not going to be easy you're never going to forget this moment
56:45Shannon Sharpe:my heartbreak for his family
56:50Shannon Sharpe:25
56:5425
56:57Shannon Sharpe:you think back and you think about what you were doing at 25, Ocho. You was having the time of your life in the NFL. You had reached the culmination. Everything that you dreamt about when you was in Livia City and you and your boys, y 'all running around, going to the pool and doing whatever you were doing. Like, man, I'm going to be playing on Sundays one day. And there it is, you're doing it. I guarantee you when he was a kid, he dreamt of playing in the NFL.
57:26Shannon Sharpe:My brother always it says a dream is a gift that you give to yourself.
57:35Shannon Sharpe:And your dreams should shock you. If your dream don't shock you, it's not big enough. He dreamt of playing in the NFL. He didn't dream of having seasoned any injuries in 24 and 25, but he dreamt of playing in the NFL.
57:53Shannon Sharpe:But something came along and interfered with that.
58:03Shannon Sharpe:it's being reported Rondell Moore unfortunately he's passed away at the age of 25 Hollywood Brown a former teammate of Rondell Moore in Arizona said Rondell reached out to him just a few hours before he died you wasn't alone bro I told you I know how you feel bro ain't no way brother you just messaged me a few hours ago
58:36Shannon Sharpe:After missing the entire 2024 season with a knee injury, he suffered another season in the ACL tear during Minnesota Vikings first preseason game. Jamal Adams tweeted, I'm not jumping to conclusions, but let me say this. Fans and media be quick to label player injury prone. We don't choose to get hurt. Sometimes it just happens. Y 'all don't see the rehab, the pain, the mental drain it causes. The process can make you lose yourself. This issue's real. No matter how much support you get, you still got to fight that battle alone. Prayers up for Rondell Moore and his family. He was a baller, no question.
59:13Shannon Sharpe:You do. And see, that's the thing, Ocho. All the support. But what happens when the phone hangs up? You by yourself? Alone in your thoughts. So when the phone calls, when they hang up, and then everybody go home, I'm right back to square one. I'm alone in my own thoughts, thinking.
59:48Shannon Sharpe:Man, is this a dream? Is this really my life? Is this really happening? Again?
1:00:07Chad Johnson:Mmm.
1:00:17Shannon Sharpe:You gotta take the good with the bad, Ocho. And sometimes it's easy to question the bad. but not one time did you ever question God why you bless me so much why you let me make it to the NFL why you let me get all this money why you let me have beautiful healthy kids
1:00:38Shannon Sharpe:sometimes we only call on him when things go bad
1:00:44Shannon Sharpe:but it's when the things are at the best that's when he's carrying you also but we just don't see it
1:00:54Shannon Sharpe:Rondell Moore to all his family, friends, and loved one again, the Nightcap family, Ocho and I, and everybody here associated with Nightcap. My condolences. And I thought our heartfelt thoughts and prayers.
