In short
This episode is a “best of NFL Week 8 Part 1” recap/discussion focused on game reactions, quarterback play, and defensive matchups. The hosts highlight the Broncos’ 44-24 win over the Cowboys: Denver’s defense pressured Dak Prescott into two interceptions, while Bo Nix led the offense (19/29, 247 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT).
Key claims
the Cowboys’ “number one offense” was held to 188 yards and didn’t generate enough offense; the Broncos’ edge rush and secondary play (including mention of corner Surtain) flipped the game early.
Notable examples
B.J. (B.J.) Harvey’s 40-yard TD run; a fast scoring stretch (touchdowns/punts/TDs) that made it “out of reach.” The episode also covers Packers vs. Steelers (Jordan Love 360 yards, 3 TD, no INT; Tucker Craft big) and Chiefs vs. Commanders (Mahomes 3 second-half TD; Chiefs pull away 28-7).

3:51But let's get to the game of the day. The Broncos beat the Dallas Cowboys by the score of 44 to 24. Cowboys defense reverted back to their old form, giving up his longest run of the year. A 40-yard touchdown run by number one overall draft pick B.J. Harvey. First round draft pick, not number one. First round draft pick. And Bo Nix, Bo Tubs. Dak Prescott threw two interceptions. The number one offense was held in check. The Cowboys have lost eight straight to the Denver Broncos, tying the longest streak to a single opponent in franchise history. I tried to tell Ocho, I said, Ocho, man, y 'all ain't beat us since 95.
4:28We're going to beat, they're going to beat you on this. Oh, who is us? Who is us? I'm not, listen, I'm not a part of the Cowboys. I just felt with them being the number one offense, George Pigadumity doing CeeDee Lamb's back, you know, Williams running the way he's running the ball, I felt they had a good chance to win the game today. Now, obviously, I was wrong. That's the good thing about sports. Sometimes you're wrong. Sometimes you're right. In this case, which is very seldom for me, is I was wrong. And listen, I apologize, you know, for those Broncos fans that are in the chat. Congratulations.
4:59Y 'all won today's game. Y 'all won today's game. You said they, but what's the, how many times have they played a defense like the Broncos? where they got them guys on the edge, especially Sertan. Think about it. We beat them. Sertan went out. Trey Breedlaw didn't even play. Yeah, he heard his shoulder. Yeah, he sure did. Can you imagine? Because you know when he was in there, they was getting Nathan. They wasn't getting anything. Y 'all played a good game. Bo Nix balled out. Cortland Sutton had some really, really key catches, some really key catches. and it got to a point where the game just got out of reach.
5:41It got out of reach. It was out of reach when y 'all walked into the stadium. That was what it was out of reach. How many times did y 'all stop us from – hold on. Let me go look at this thing. I want to see – how many times did y 'all actually stop us? Matter of fact, I'm going to – The Broncos, okay, they threw an interception, so y 'all stopping them on the first run, and then it went touchdown, touchdown, punt, touchdown, touchdown, in the half, field goal, touchdown, touchdown, punt, end of game. Damn. If the Broncos turned it over the first possession, and then with touchdown, touchdown, I mean, damn.
6:19Hey, hold on. Went through them like Sherman went through Atlanta. Scorched Thursday. Hey, y 'all play good though, huh? I'm not even gonna lie. It's hard for me to argue. We are good. You're talking about we play good. We got a good team. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Y 'all got a good defense. Y 'all got a good defense. And the offense, it goes as Bo Nix goes. If Bo Nix goes well offensively, y 'all going to be all right. And Bo Nix had him a day-to-day. Bo Nix had him a day-to-day, and the defense obviously showed up. Pat went out. I think he probably looked like maybe a pinched nerve or something. A pinched nerve.
6:56Other than that, I think he's going to be all right. But them boys on the edge, boy. Oh, yeah. Cooper and Bonito. Allen. Hey, man, listen. Hey, but them jokes are nice, bro. Oh, yeah. Hey, we get after you now. Bo Nix was 19-29, 247, four touchdowns, one interception. J.K. Dobbins had 15 rushes, 111 yards. R.J. had, I said B.J. R.J. Harvey had seven for 46. He had two touchdowns. And then Franklin, six for 89, two touchdowns. Courtland Sutton, 4 for 67. Pat Bryant, 2 for 40. One touchdown. R.J. Harvey had one catch for five yards and a touchdown. Hey, let me see what Dak numbers were. Because, you know, what we do is that if you got hopes of winning MVP or winning some type of award, you come to mind how you're going to lead without it.
7:5219 to 31, 188. Two interceptions. Remember the last three? Dak, last three games, he had thrown three touchdowns and no interceptions. We got tired of hearing that. It's not hearing it. Y 'all can talk. Y 'all won the game. Obviously, we understand how good different defense is. Did you understand that? Because why would you pick them? Clearly, you didn't understand that. Hold on. Why did I pick the Cowboys to win? Yes. Because the offense has been on fire the past three weeks straight. They ain't played nobody. Hold on. So you're saying the Broncos is somebody? Is the Broncos a team that teams are opposed to fear?
8:31Are you saying that their defense is like the 2000 Ravens? No, absolutely not. No, they went to Philly, was down 18-3 and win the ball game. Remember last week? Hold on. 33 points in the fourth quarter. And what's the key words that I just said? As Bo Nix goes, that is how the Broncos will go. That's how normal that team goes. Huh? That's normal how the teams go. The quarterback. Okay. What about your team? We ain't talking about your team just yet. Dak Prescott threw two interceptions. The number one offense. Hold on. Let me see how many yards the number one offense that you've been hyping about.
9:08Oh, they've been playing good. Let me see what the numbers are. I'm trying to – that's what I was looking for. I was sitting there trying to find the goddamn stats. You weren't trying to find those stats. You ain't looking hard enough. Because they up there. Nah. Cowboys 188. They ain't even have 300 yards of offense. Averaging four something. How many points they got? and they got a little cheap touchdown at the end. Yeah, but this is what you have to understand. This is what you have to understand. Listen, even a squirrel get a nut every blue moon, every so often. They're the number one offense for a reason.
9:38Sometimes, listen, this was a trap game. This was a trap game. Woo-hoo, us? You know what? We're going to let the Broncos have this one to build their confidence up a little bit, make them feel like they're really doing something, and the next week, what's going to happen? It's going to be right back to the old, oh, man, well, this is what happened, and this is why we didn't win. We don't do that. We don't do that. We don't play what we do. What we don't do is play down the competition. The standard is the standard. We're the Denver Broncos. Three-time Super Bowl champs. That's who and what we are.
10:10Oh, okay. So the standard is the standard, right? Standard is the standard. Okay, okay. Just a whole – matter of fact, let me write that down. The standard is the standard. I want to make sure – I want to make sure when we come back next Sunday, I want to make sure the standard is still the standard after that game. with my pen and paper. It will be. Man, my kids took my pen and paper, man. Don't worry about it. And I can't believe you. You asked me, Ocho, now this, Chad, when was the last time y 'all know Ocho to go on Sunday without tweeting? I ain't tweet today? Oh, because my internet wasn't working.
10:48It wasn't. Yeah, my internet wasn't working. Ocho not tweeting is like Cornflake without the milk. You know what I'm saying? Hey, something just go together. Sunday, watch your tweet. But this is the point. You have to understand. I said it. I tweeted it out. Obviously, I was using my neighbor's Wi-Fi. I'm using my neighbor's Wi-Fi right now. That's why I was able to come on Nightcap. I tweeted you back and said I wasn't going to be able to come on the show tonight because my Wi-Fi was down. The fiber octave system that they use, all the wiring over here, somebody cut grass, they cut a line. So when they cut a line, like, boom, it messes up.
11:22How you cut grass? How you hide the line on top of the ground? No, they went underneath. They went underneath. I don't know. Who cut grass underneath? Who got a bunker that got grow grass under the ground? Hey, listen, I don't know what it was. That sounds awful suspicious. Doesn't it sound suspicious to you, Chad? It sounded suspicious to me when I heard it. It sounded suspicious to me. So I'm using my neighbor's Wi-Fi right now. So I might go in and out, but just know I did everything I can to make sure I make it through tonight. That's why. In and out, huh? Hey, how my camera look? Because my camera, like, kind of, it's good?
11:55Yeah, it look good. It's you. Okay, okay, okay. I mean, you put your, hey, I was 3-0 this weekend. You were 3-0? Ravens won. Broncos won. Well, who was the third? You lost. Savannah, oh, I was four of those. Savannah State won homecoming. Well, hold on. Who was the third? I mean, you. Broncos won. Ravens won. That's two. Savannah State won. That's three. Bengals lost. 4-0. Oh, come on, now. Hold on. Wait a minute. Hey, you hee-hee and ha-ha. The Dolphins won today. What you talking about? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. The Dolphins won today. I'm saying all the teams that I played for, that Shannon Sharp played for, won.
12:42The Guppies, you never played for the Guppies. Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. It doesn't matter who I play for. It's where I'm from. That's my home team. That's all I knew. That's what I grew up knowing until I got drafted. So therefore, I'm a Dolph fan first. Before I knew anything about the Cincinnati Bengals, I was a Dolphin. Guppies. Since 1968. And we won today. Did you see what we did to Atlanta? I saw that. Okay. Okay. Let's put some respect up. Matter of fact, hold on.
13:15Chad, he hurt by that, Chad. He hurt by that.
13:30let's put some respect on my quarterback oh joe this the only one i see right here hey hey hey put some respect on my quarterback too hey we hey listen we were doing all we were doing all that you know that that tongue lashing and saying that you know it was up and he needed to go when they need to fire Mike McDaniel. Even I was a culprit. Even me, someone who's always been nice and trying to find excuses for people. Even I was critical. But after today, two is the future. Two is the future of the Miami Dawson franchise. Now, they can clean house everywhere else, but as long as Uno is there, we're going to be all right based on what I saw today.
14:08Now, let's talk. Bubble gum, bubble gum. Pop, pop. Bubble gum, bubble gum. Pop, pop. My team, my team, on top. Your team, your team a flop. Yay!
14:27Hey, you just made that up just now? That was the cheer we had. I cheerleader did that when we was in high school. All that. Now, you know, we ain't bad and we ain't cocky. Yeah. Ride on you like a Kawasaki. Hey, wait, hey. But we were bad. I turned off news altogether. I hate to say it, but I don't trust much of anything. It's the rage bait. 18:54Ocho Steve has turned the ball over in the second half once, fumbled by Gainwell. Rodgers was sacked twice. The pressure was relentless all night. They flushed him out of the pocket. And Jordan Love had 360 passing yards as they take down the Steelers, 35-25. As you can see, 360 passing yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, 94 rush yards. It was a complete team effort. Brandon McManus missed two field goals. That long with that 57? Maybe just a tad out of his range, but there's no excuse for the other one. He just, he shanked that thing really, really bad. Coach, what did you like about what you saw from the Green Bay Packers tonight?
19:36Listen, the Packers look good. Obviously, I thought that the first half, I thought the Steelers were going to run away with the game. I honestly thought the Steelers were going to run away with the game the way it was a defensive game in the first half. The Packers, I don't know what the hell, Coach told them at halftime, came out on goddamn fire. Not only on defense, but hell, on goddamn offense too. They scored on the first five possessions in the second half. I'm not sure what happened to the Steelers' defense, but you got people on that back end that you pay really good money, top quality money, simply to be able to stop the goddamn pass.
20:11They got Tucker Craft out there looking like he got them. It was National Tide End Day, Ocho. Huh? It was National Tide End Day. Oh, is that what it was? That's what it is. That's what today was. Tucker Craft showed out tonight on National Titans Day. He had one hell of a goddamn day. Jordan Love did what Jordan Love does. But, again, once they came out of halftime and the Steelers couldn't do anything defensively to stop them, it was going to be a long night. Now, the first half? The first half was good, huh? That was some good football on both sides of the ball from both teams. And, I mean, listen, the Packers came out at the half, and the Steelers couldn't do nothing with them on offense.
20:50They couldn't stop them at all. Yeah, Jordan Love, 29-37, 360, three touchdowns, no interceptions, no sacks, no turnovers. Josh Jacob had the only rush touchdown, as you mentioned, Ocho. Tucker Carson, seven for 143, two touchdowns. He was sensational. Christian Watson, his first game back, four for 85. Romeo Dobbs had three for 44. Malik Heath had three for 29. They played really well, and I agree with you, Ocho. The Steelers got – you look at what they have defensively. They make the trade for J-Ram. They have Joey Porter Jr., who's a second-round draft pick, a lockdown guy. You look at Highsmith, and you look at Watt, and you look at Cam Hayward.
21:34Gary Slayton. Yeah, but you can't let them go up and down the field like that. You can't. Not in your building. You can't. And not with that kind of talent. we not just talk about anybody we talk about some of the greats that have played this game for a long time that bring you a veteran presence where things that you want to do on defense it should be much easier because of the level of skill and talent that they do have but it just didn't look like that tonight it did look like that tonight huh it did look like that come on man I'm agreeing with you it didn't look like that tonight that all that talent that they have defensively.
22:17You don't have to do them in on the jacket. What am I doing? I saw her. Weave in that jacket. That's from Zara?
22:29Hey, Chad, am I doing too much? Chad, I want y 'all to be honest with me. Is this too much?
22:46is this too much because I know the one thing about the chat let me see what the chat say because the chat is going to be honest with me the chat always like you doing too much slow down don't do Ocho like that chat I know y 'all going to be honest with me so y 'all can be honest is this too much is the blazer the phone thing Is that too much, Chad? You feeling good tonight, huh? Nah, Ocho, I tried to tell you about this. I told you this was going to happen. You feeling good tonight, huh? I told you we were going to do something bad. I told you. I said, we're going to do something bad to the Cowboys.
23:17I said, and the Jets going to get y 'all. I tried to tell you that. But you ain't want to hear me. I'll just go ahead and sit this down right here. Listen, you didn't know the Jets was going to do that today. I did. No, but nobody expected the Jets to win that game. I did. Nobody did. No, you didn't. No, you didn't. man put your finger down man why he won't put his finger
23:41man he won't put his finger down man come on bro it's all good I was surprised I was surprised with how well Green Bay moved the ball in the second half now they have a lot of drive that they stalled themselves out in the first half and then they missed two field goals. Like I said, maybe the 57-yarder was a tad outside of McManus' range. Excuse me, just a second. But that second half was a complete domination by the Packers. They looked good. That front, they got after Michael Parsons. They were getting chipped. And I told you, I said the beneficiary of Michael Parsons coming over there is going to be Rashawn Gary.
Read the full transcript
24:28Rashawn Gary, yeah. Because you're going to have to look. And after he had that three sack performance last week, he had four, but they took it back because of a hit drop tackle. I knew that they were going to play extra close attention to Micah. And so now Rashawn Gary is getting a lot of one-on-ones. So I already knew that the beneficiary of this trade was going to be Rashawn Gary. And so now you've got two guys screaming up there outside that can rush with power, that can rush with speed. They do a great job of getting off the ball. and they were relentless last tonight. Now, I don't think the secondary is that great, so they're going to have to get off the ball.
25:04They're going to have to apply pressure, Ocho, because they don't have shutdown guys in the secondary. They have okay, they have decent guys, but as long as they can continue to generate the pressure that they're generating, they're going to be just fine. They're going to be just fine playing it the way they played. But I thought offensively, Jordan Love, man, if you didn't know Aaron Rodgers actually played there, I mean, look at the throws that he's making off his back foot. Look at how he's throwing across his body. His mannerisms remind you. And I'm not saying he's going to beat Aaron Rodgers.
25:36I'm not going to say he's going to win four MVPs. But I'm saying if you look at a lot of his mannerisms, you look at a lot of his arm slots, the way he throws the ball off his wrong foot, off his back foot. The quick release. Yeah, yeah. The side arm. Yeah. He's really good. You can tell he's obviously studied Aaron. Studied and watched, yes. Yeah, he studied and watched him, and some of the stuff he's doing, he wasn't doing it in college. No, no, no. So, obviously, this is why I say at times, sometimes it's good for quarterbacks when you come in as a rookie, depending on who the starter is, to sit back, relax, take it all in, and learn from whoever it is that's sitting in front of you.
26:16And then when your time comes, then you look exactly how Jordan Love looks. Some of the best quarterbacks didn't start. I mean, you look at, obviously, Brady didn't start. Patrick Mahomes didn't start. Josh Allen, I don't think Josh Allen started his first game. He didn't? We can look that up. I don't think he did. But once he got in, he didn't look back. But I thought the Packers are going to look. The Packers, that's a tough division. Well, I think it's a two-team division. the quarterback play the quarterback play in Minnesota and in Chicago is not as nearly is not as consistent as it needs to be to be able to keep up with those other two teams Detroit and Green Bay I think Green Bay and Detroit obviously are the the class of that division I just don't think Carson Wentz and Caleb Williams give you consistent play week in and week out down in and down out to really challenge these teams now look it's a it's an intra-division so anything thing can happen we know anything can happen within a division but me i just don't think the the quarterback play is nearly consistent enough but i was very impressed with the packers going on the road knowing how much this game meant to aaron rogers and normally when you play a team that you played there your team uh uh your team uh comes back and you know they can pick you up they want to they want to make sure you win that game oh i didn't know i had this t-shirt on up in here, Ocho?
27:45Is that too much? Hold on, hold on. Let me get my jacket off. Oh, hey, you hot it now? Yeah, it's hot down here. Yeah. Hold on. Look at my look. Hey. Y 'all see the inside? Y 'all like the inside? What did that say? What did they mean? Broncos? All the Broncos logos, all the logos. This was the first logo they had like in the 60s. Yeah. I think this was like 68. This was the first one. This was the second one. The third one. This is the fourth one. you know. And you know, look something, the Broncos, this is what they give the Ring of Fame honorees. All for the logos. Orange jacket. Y 'all get one of these, Ocho?
28:26Huh? Yeah, I got one. Yeah, and listen, listen, you got the Bronco logos. Mine got, you know, all the stripes, all the tiger stripes. I ain't see that jacket. I ain't see you with no jacket on when you were in the Ring of Fame two years ago. Yeah, we had that. All we got, all got the same jackets. I ain't see it. I just said I didn't see it, Ocho. I got anything else over there? I'm aware. I'm aware. Take it. I think I got one in there. Take it out. See?
28:54Knight, you ain't got to show us no more stuff. We know y 'all won. I got a few things. We know y 'all won today. We know.
29:06I got another one over there. Hold on. I'm real. Just close it up. Yeah.
29:14Damn. Yeah. Oh, Joe, see? See my bowling bag? What's that? Bowling bag. You don't even bowl? Nah, nah, I don't bowl. Let me see. Hold on. Hey, told you I got to keep my shoes in here. I bet I never catch you in the alley. That's what I'm saying. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey, listen, I bowl 280 or better. Who's shoes in there? They in my bowling bag, so one would assume they're my shoes. Man, them shoes brand new still. You don't bowl, man. Don't do that. Don't do that, Ocho. Don't do that. Don't do that. Listen, one thing about it. You're not a bowler. You might be a lot of things. How you going to bowl and your hips don't work?
29:57They work you fine. Hey, I'm just saying. They work fine. And you know when you bowl, you got to get low. They show me. They know. They know. What's that? That's an eight-pound ball? I make it look like that, don't I? I got a couple of more in there. Y 'all don't want to see? Walter Ray Williams Jr. Hey, Unc, you know you can't bowl. You walk around with eight-pound balls. Boy, these ain't no eight-pound balls. These 16-pound balls. Huh? No, you ain't no bowler, man. Come on, Ocho. That ain't like you, man. Hey, talk to me. I'm not trying to be no hater. What's your best score? What's your best score on the alley?
30:40I think my best go like 220. That's it? That's it. Man, my daughter bowed 220. I beat you. Nah. You know what? Hey. He didn't like that. Nathan Peterman started week one of 2018 versus the Ravens before Josh Allen came into the third quarter, and he didn't look back. Oh, hey, Nathan Peterman was bad, huh? Oh, yeah. He was a bird. I mean, they're out there petering. Was that the game he threw like five picks? Or was he in the Chargers when he had that terrible game, Ash? Because he had one game. He had like five picks, a fumble. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah, he was good. I turned off news altogether.
31:30I hate to say it, but I don't trust much of anything. It's the rage beat. It feels like it's trying to divide people. If we got clear facts, maybe we can calm down a little. 35:33The Chiefs use a dominant second half to pull away from the commanders by the score of 28-7. Patrick Mahomes tosses three touchdown passes in the second half. As you can see, the number's right there. And they win comfortably, 28-7. But, you know, watching this game, Mocho, I just thought the commander squandered two million opportunities in the first half. They had an opportunity, and the ball hits Deebo in the face, and Mike Dana intercepts it, and they come up short on a fourth down where he tosses it out of bounds. But I thought they had some really good opportunities in the first half to really apply some pressure.
36:09They were doing a great job of getting the ball out quick. I thought Marcus Mariota did a great job, you know, and Cliff Kingsbury did a great job of putting them in situations where they could get the ball out quick, a lot of misdirection, use Mariota's legs a little bit. But when you're on the road and you don't take advantage of opportunities when they're presented for you, when a team gets their rhythm, especially at their home, they're probably going to pull away from you. And you saw a very uncharacteristic, some turnovers. If you notice, that route was a terrible route by Hollywood Brown.
36:41Ocho, how are you in the slot? You already got leverage on him. How do you take two steps and start looking back for the ball? You know, even Mahomes went to the sideline and took, bro, and you notice he disappeared after that, didn't he? Oh, yeah. Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. Listen, it all comes down to being sharp and precise regardless of what route you run. And you always have to stay friendly to your quarterback and understand how to not only get open, but continue to create separation to be able to catch any and everything. You know, for Hollywood, as long as he's been playing the game of football, you know better than that.
37:19Yeah, you can't run the route like that. You got to put pressure on the DB. You got to make him think you're going deep. So he's going to want to get on top of you. If you start back, also, if you take three steps and you're looking for the ball, you don't run no go route like that. Who runs a go route like that? You're not fooling nobody. You're not going to fool nobody like that. No. And, you know, I'm sure that was the situation. and then he hits Trav in the head with the ball and it pops up in there and B-Wags end up picking that off. But I thought once he got it going, guys made play for him.
37:49He did a great job of using his legs sometimes to run his way out of harm's way and sometimes to buy time. You see him hit Rasheed Rice on a couple of plays like that. He found for a touchdown, the running back for a touchdown. You see Trav, he hit Trav a couple of times after using his legs to buy time. but I thought overall once they got it going in the second half, they had drives of, what, 90-plus yards, 80 yards, 70 yards, and it really broke the ball game open. Because for the first half, Ocho, I thought the Commanders' defense did a great job on him. Listen, they did a phenomenal job on him.
38:24Listen, whether they played zone or whether they played man, they added pressure and they played a really good game. The one thing I don't like about the first half of the Commanders and the Chiefs are one of the few teams that when they turn the ball over, commanders have to capitalize. You got to make them pay. You got to make them pay because at whatever point the Chiefs catch that momentum and find that rhythm, you want to stretch that lead as far as possible to make the game a little easier, make it a little more difficult for them to almost, to a point where a sense on, you got to make them damn near one dimensional where they don't have a choice to throw to get themselves back in the game.
39:02Right. But the game was too close. once they caught fire and Mahomes started processing that information a little faster, oh, y 'all playing zone? Well, hell, I'm going to be surgical. Yeah. I'm going to find every hole because every time there's a defense to play called, there's always a hole and Mahomes knew exactly where to go with the ball every goddamn time. Those plays where the defense actually called the right play, okay, you got me this time, but I'm going to beat you with my legs. Then he goes beat you with his goddamn legs. I think, and you're right about that, especially when you're on the road.
39:33When you're on the road, you try to keep the crowd out of the game as long as you possibly can. As long as they're not cheering, as long as they're sitting on their hands at the edge of their seat and they're nervous, you're winning. But when you get those opportunities, because the momentum is going to swing. If you look at the first half, the commanders had the momentum. Now, what happened is that in the second half, the Chiefs got the momentum. And when they got the momentum, it went 14-7, 21-7, 28-7, and the blink of a night and the game's over. Hey, it was a wrap. And what did they score?
40:04What, three straight possessions? Something like that? Three straight possessions. And then they ran the clock down late in the box. Or they could have. I'm surprised they didn't. But I just thought they did a great job. They were really, really balanced, Ocho. You look at it. Targets. Travis Kelce had eight targets. Rasheed Rice had nine targets. Xavier Worthy had seven targets. And you had six catches, nine catches, five catches. So you saw what they were doing. He bought time and found Juju on a couple of routes. He bought time with his legs and found Kareem Hunt in the end zone with his legs.
40:37He's done a great job as he's gotten older. He's doing more and more with his legs. He will run, but he's really looking to buy time and hope somebody comes open. And that's what makes him so dangerous. You don't want to bless him because he will jump out the window on you and take off running, but he will, but he's also looking. He's constantly trying to process information. Can I throw this ball over their head? Is there a gap somewhere I can fit this ball in to get me 10, 15, 20 yards down the field and pick up a first down? But I thought they ran the ball well. You look at Kareem Hunt and Isaiah Pacheco, what they did, a run of the football, 12 carries, 58 yards, nine carries, 40 yards.
41:20Mahomes had four carries for 30 yards. 30 rush attempts, 148 yards. So basically almost five yards a carry. That's good enough to win. very balanced. Mahomes had 299 yards passing three touchdowns two interceptions. He was sacked three times. I thought Martin did a great job of putting pressure on him they did a great job of forcing him out of the pocket but when you get there you got to get him on the ground. I don't know what that last I don't know what he was. He saw Mahomes gave himself up and then you still going to throw him down right there in front of the referee and you don't think he's going to throw a flag?
41:55That's frustration. That's all frustration. That's all frustration at that point. And obviously, okay, I can't hit him all game. We haven't been able to get to him all game. He's been getting out the pocket, extending plays. You know what? I finally got a hold of him. I'm going to give him a little extra. I'm going to give him that extra just to let him know I'm here. And it didn't matter at that point. No. And when you look at it, Ocho, I think they didn't run the ball nearly as much as they needed to because now all of a sudden the pressure started to get into Mariota. He had eight rushes, 28 yards.
42:32Kroski Merritt had nine for 25 yards. That's not enough. And it looks like McLaurin might have nicked that groin or that hamstring again because he ended up coming out. I thought he made some great plays. Hell, I thought Debo was a catch right there at the pylon. And then I was looking at it like, man, that's a catch by McLaurin in the end zone. That was a touchdown. Now, I don't necessarily know if I was an official Ocho. I would have overruled because I couldn't see that right leg, the inside leg. Did it hit down out of bounds? He did get the elbow down and you look at the left leg, the left leg didn't come down.
43:04But where was that right leg? There was never a clear view of where I could see what his right, what his right leg was doing. So I probably wouldn't have overruled it, but even in real time, I thought that was, those were catches with Devo and McLaurin. Hey, but you know, Hey, that was a situation. I'm sure they said, Oh, that's the Chiefs getting home cooking. The Chiefs getting home cooking. Hey, listen, I'm not, I'm not saying the rest are cheating, but they was cooking. I think the thing is, Ocho, if you go back and look up it, a lot of them were out of position. Like that catch on the sideline, there were really no officials right there in, in, in, in the vicinity.
43:43So you got to be in better position. Now he was, they were looking at McLaurin when he was in the end zone and they're trying to see, but you want to get there as close as you possibly can, because you got a really hard job. Is his feet and does he hold on to the ball? If I look at where he catches the ball, I can't pay attention to his feet. So they really have a hard job, and that's really the job of two people. That's why you always see him check. What did you get? Was he out of bounds back there? Nah, he didn't step out. Okay, he touched the pylon. It's good. So that is a two-man job, but the guys got to be in position, the women and the men, they need to be in better position to make sure they're on top of those calls so they can get it right.
44:22But it's a tough situation, and it's only going to get worse. Since the implement of gambling and what we're starting to find out now, people are going, now it's really going to ratchet up. It's really going to ramp up and say, see, I told you, I knew it all along. Hey, man, you can't fool me. Hot team play like this one week, and then the next week, they act like they ain't never seen foot or a ball. Yeah, and it's the funny thing about it. Now, people can say what they want to say. You can say the ref cheated. You can say that they didn't. but you understand when you ever have a quarterback, when you have a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes, it gives you a favorable chance to win any match.
44:54Yes. A favorable chance to win any game. Obviously, there was some turnovers early in this game. The command, what they needed to do to capitalize on those turnovers, and you saw what happened. And it's funny how the conversation about the Kansas City, the conversation about the Kansas City Chiefs has changed as the weeks have gone on. First, they washed. They're not the same as they used to be. The receivers are playing bad. in the first two weeks they started 0-2, which they haven't done before, to now looking like the Kansas City Chiefs of old. And it was only a matter of time. It was only a matter of time of players getting back healthy.
45:28Rasheed Rice coming off the suspension. Hollywood Brown being in. Travis Kelsey actually getting back to form. And then getting with them. Hey, now they're hitting on all cylinders. And we still haven't even seen probably the best Kansas City Chiefs team we can see just yet. I'm just trying to figure out what happened to Tyquan Thornton. How does a guy be that involved? And I understand Rasheed Rice coming back. I get that, Ocho. But when a guy puts up that kind of numbers, you've got to find a way to get him on the field. They got so many options. Man, look, it's hard for you to convince me that Hollywood Brown is better than Tyquan Thornton based on what we've seen this year.
46:09I'm not saying what he was when he was in Baltimore or what the year that he had in Arizona. I'm talking about right now. Now, based on what you saw, Hollywood Brown was in there and Tyquan Thornton was in there. When Rasheed Rice wasn't, Tyquan Thornton was their best receiver. Yeah, he was making some plays. He was making some catches, you know, short, especially deep balls, what was needed and it mattered most. And I knew they were going to play like this. I understood that. That's why when we had him on the show and I said, listen, once that door opens for you, make sure you put your foot in there, cross it, and close the door behind you.
46:46Because this is the type of game that they play when it comes to business. When it comes to business, those that have already been paid, those who are making top dollar, they're going to see the field first. I get that with Rasheed Rice. I get that with Rasheed Rice because he is their best receiver, Ocho. We saw the maturation when he came in as a rookie, and he got better and better and better and better. And as the year, he was clear-cut. He was the number one receiver. Yes, sir. Obviously, he had some issues. I think he got nicked and he got that situation, got himself off field, got that behind him, got that issue resolved.
47:19But I just I'm looking like, damn, you mean to tell me this man can't get on the field and get 10 plays? He can't get one target. He can't get two targets now, Ocho, after doing what he's done in the absence of Rasheed Rice. Look, we're not trying to start no conflict, but I think everybody in Kansas City and I think people that watch the game, follow the game, study the game. You're like, hold on. How does a man go from playing that well to not even getting in the game, barely getting in the game, not getting any targets? In a sense, I'm not even upset. In a sense, I'm not even upset because I understand the doors with the way he played when everyone else was out, when Hollywood Brown wasn't there, when – Hollywood was there.
48:00No, no, no. When he wasn't there, Hollywood wasn't there yet. He was hurt. Where was he at? Not this year. Wasn't he hurt early on when Taekwon kept making all those plays? Hollywood was in there. It was Hollywood, Xavier Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Taekwon. No, somebody was missing. Somebody was missing from the equation. Rasheed Rice was missing. Okay. Either way, Taekwon thought it was arguably easily based on what we were seeing. Yes. That's all I'm seeing. But this is the thing I like is you've already put it on film now. You already put it on field, which you can't do, when you're actually put in a position to make those plays.
48:42So that door and opportunity to play somewhere else where they will probably use him in his skill set that he does have with that kind of speed, it's going to pay off. It just might not – it's not going to pay off where he is now because obviously they don't appreciate what he was able to do because you have too many other options. You got too many other options. And maybe it's a situation, Ocho, maybe he's Nick. Maybe there's something going on that you and I don't know about. Ain't nothing wrong with him Ain't nothing wrong with him Let's just try the ultra scenarios out there bro Damn You know the game them folks play You know the game they play Hold on Hey I'm sitting here I gotta grab the chair I'm sitting here on my suitcase Hey look what I'm sitting on You heard me look Yeah Lord have mercy It hurt my butt
49:33Yeah see yeah, Xavier think about it, Ocho. Xavier Worthy was injured and now Hollywood was there. Okay, that's what I meant. I knew it was one of them. I knew it was one of them. So yeah, it was Xavier. That's right. But Taekwon And maybe it's a situation, Ocho, where T plays the same position as Worthy. Hollywood plays a different position. Because, you know, you got two speed guys. So maybe that's the situation. But I was trying to figure out, like, well, damn, how he go from being so productive to damn near, he damn near inactive. Yeah, that's crazy. Now, I've seen this so many times. I've seen this so many times, which is why I don't want to say the wrong thing, because they are winning.
50:25But when you have a team like that where they can plug and play different players in different positions, and because you have Patrick Mahomes, it's going to always work regardless of who you put out there. It's hard to argue the fact on. It's real hard to argue the fact. And then Juju is so versatile. Juju blocked. Juju make the tough catches over the middle. He understands. He doesn't miss hot reads. And that situation where they run the fake, I'm trying to figure out, I'm like, Noah, why would you run a seven route? Bro, you should try to score a touchdown. Don't run that at the angle. Get that up the field.
51:02I'm like, guys, guys, y 'all, I don't get it. I ain't trying, I'm trying, if I got the defense fool and the linebacker is trailing me from the inside, I'm not trying to get a 20-yard completion. I'm trying to get a 40-yard touchdown. And you see how Mahomes threw the ball. Mahomes threw him up the field because B-Wags was trailing on the inside. He was like, he wanted to catch it and get tackled out of bounds. No, bro, take that up the field. So, I don't know. Maybe it was set up like that. Maybe it was, hey, to be a 20-yard completion and not a 40-yard touchdown. But that's like, you know, the way we ran around, like, look, if somebody's over the top, you're flatted off.
51:47If somebody's in the trail, you keep it high. Right. Yeah.
51:55Patriots beat the Browns 32-13 one week after finally eclipsed 17 points, Cleveland offense reverted to its old form, mustering two touchdowns Gabriel also couldn't take care of the ball one thing coaches have consistently praised him for, is taking care of the football but guess what Ocho, two touchdowns Shadur Sanders went in active because of a back injury but the calls for him to play will only grow louder if the Browns continue to, oh, the Browns bye week is this week. Even though Kevin Stefanski said after the game that Gabriel will remain the team's starter for now.
52:32Hey, they goddamn Drake May, boy. He looking good, Coachel. Hey, listen, Drake May and Josh McDaniels. Now, I'm not saying, I'm not, I'm just saying the start that they're off to right now. goddamn Patriots are 6-2, huh? Yes. But them boys, 6-2, and they dealing. Boy, Drake May is dealing. They running the ball. They throwing the ball. And he's not just as opposed to Flacco going to Uno, you know, all the time, 19 times. Man, Drake May getting everybody. Man, listen, you get a ball. You get a ball. You get a ball. Boutte, Stephon Diggs, man. Matt Collins, Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry. and everybody eating.
53:20Yes. Everybody eats. And it's a good thing. It's a good thing. Obviously, you're playing the Browns. The Browns have a very good defense, but there's only so much they can do. There's only so much holding a team, holding the team down that they can do where your offense is sputtering. And the offense is sputtering too much. You know, you're dead to water. Then you've got them defenses acting on the goddamn field. Damn, they're all goddamn big. All night long. All night long. Yeah, it is. And I'm looking. Patriots had the ball for over 36 minutes. Man. So that means the Browns only had it for 23.
53:59Ain't a whole lot you can do in 23 minutes with the football. At all. If you're going to have the ball 23 minutes, you got to be explosive. You got to be explosive. Efficient and explosive. Kansas City. Kansas City didn't have it because you had Tyreek taking the top off and one play, two plays, 40 seconds, they done scored a touchdown. So you can understand that they don't have that level of explosiveness. So when you have the ball for 23 minutes, that means somebody else possessing it and they're going to put foot in you. Miles Garrett had a career high five sacks today, but became the first player in NFL history to do that and lose by more than three points.
54:38With his five sacks, Garrett passed Reggie White for the most sacks by a player, 108.5 before turning 30 since sacks became an official stats in 1982. Two, despite personal success, Miles was caught being visibly upset with offensive woes on the sideline. Let's take a listen to what he had to say, Ocho, after the game. You were hot, bro. It doesn't get any easier each week, you ask me.
55:06How do you feel about your performance actually? Does the loss diminish? How do you feel like your performance today in August? I would throw the whole performance away for a win. Ocho. I want you to explain it to me as if I was seven. So you're really going to have to get down to it and explain it to me as if I was a kid. I got you. Talk to me. I want you to tell me what was Miles Garrett thinking was going to happen based on everything that has happened since he's been there. What has he seen from this organization that convinced him they were going to get it right? Well, you have to understand as a seven-year-old that you are.
55:49I'm going to explain it to you in the best way possible. Miles Garrett understood there is no more guaranteed money on my contract. So what am I going to do? Because I want a huge lump sum and I want to raise. I'm going to throw a fit. I'm going to throw a fit in wanting to get out, to demand a trade, to force their hand, understanding there is no one else. There is no one else that can pull this off outside of me. As great as I am, they don't want to lose the asset that is me because my value is at its highest peak right now. And understanding I can get what I want by doing this, this was very strategic.
56:26It was well thought out. He understood what the Browns were. They weren't changing in one year. They're not going to change in two years. Hell, they ain't changed in the past 35 years. Correct. No, it was about getting your bag, getting your money. That's what it's about. You know, no, no, no, no, no. Now, when you get in front of the media, you know, you get in front of the media. Of course, you're going to see all the right things. Of course. Come on now. That's a part of the game. You're right. It's a part of the game. And that's that's that's what it is. I agree with everything that you said.
56:59I think Miles Garrett is an outstanding football player. He seems like an outstanding young man. But at this point, I don't feel sorry for him. I can't. I can't. This is what you this is what you signed up for, Ocho. The days of, Ocho, you remember back in the day, Ocho, okay, the military, Uncle Sam looking for a few good men. Back then, you go train a little bit. You're like, hey, I'm going to get that GI bill. I'm going to get college paid for. Now, you signed up for the military. You're going to fight. Oh, yeah. They got all this stuff going on around the world. You're going. Everywhere. Yeah.
57:34It ain't just no video games. You go a couple of weekends and you have field duties and you go. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. All that trying to join to go get you a Hellcat and get you a Challenger, oh, you're going to earn that. Oh, you're going to earn that now. Yeah. With everything that's going on around the world, it's a different time. As much as I want to, I don't feel empathy. I don't feel compassion for Miles because this is what he signed up for. Yeah. This is what he signed up for. Okay, now that you got your money, you see the – go ahead and ask for a trade. Try to go somewhere, bro, that you can win.
58:12Hold on. Matter of fact, what if as great as he is, most of the time, teams listen to trade talks when it comes to players like this, understand what the Cleveland Browns can get for a Miles Garrett right now. Yes. They're improving both to their roster for the foreseeable future, understanding that they're not going anywhere. You're not going anywhere. He got five sacks and they got the brakes beat off him. So it clearly, it doesn't matter what he does. You're not any closer to your ultimate goal with Miles Garrett than you would be without him. So I might as well get pieces that I can fill in that I believe that's going to help me get closer.
58:46Yes, I would love to be able to win a championship with Myles Garrett. But you saw today, you see his impact. He's been a defensive player of the year. He's won the award, but he's in defensive player of the year contention every single year. And you're no closer to winning the division. You're no closer to getting into the playoffs or winning a playoff game than you would be without him. I have a question too. Yes. I hate to throw this out there. And I don't mean, I don't, I don't know. Chat, y 'all stay with me real quick and tell me what y 'all think about this. Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones made some phone calls, right?
59:23He made some phone calls down to Las Vegas. Yeah. Berger told me he made some phone calls down to Cincinnati. But both of those teams said, nah, we good. Yeah. Think about Jerry Jones making a call on down there to Cleveland and go and get 95. Yeah, it's going to probably take three first-round picks. But the Cowboys have the capital. The Eagles will do it. Detroit will do it. You got to have somebody that would put that, you know. Now, here's the thing that's going to be tricky about Detroit. Because Hutch, you're going to have to do something with Hutch this year. Right. You're going to have to do something with him.
1:00:03And could you imagine Aiden Hutchins on one side? No, I don't want to imagine that. Man. With that offense? That ain't that. That's not fair. That's not fair. You might as well just ship the goddamn Lombardi right out there to him right now. Oh, for sure. Absolutely. And if you put him in Dallas, him on that turf? Man, stop playing. Woo. Now that's a different maker. That's a different maker because the offense is so good. The offense is so good. You're going to be playing with a lead, and he's going to get the rush all the time. There it is. There it is. And that's an impact player that will make your defense that much better.
1:00:42For sure. That's absolutely. That's absolutely for certain, Ocho. But it's just tough. I mean, you know, I just don't know what he thought. And look, I know why he did it, too. Like you said, there's no more guarantee. I need a contract. I ain't playing this last year with no guaranteed money. I want guaranteed money. I requested a trade. I understand what I mean in the community. I really love the city, yada, yada, yada. Oh, they came and said, we got$40 million. We got$105 million,$110 million fully guaranteed. Okay, I'm good. He know they're not going to win, but he got guaranteed money. Yeah.
1:01:18I mean, listen, we all know. You know, and those on the outside, I mean, those with – Let me ask you a question, Ocho, before you go any further. Do you believe if he says, I want to get traded, and he said my destination would be the Eagles, I would like to go to the Eagles, or I'd like to go to Detroit, do you believe they gave him a similar contract? Because I do. Yeah, absolutely. Thank you. Absolutely. But what he's done before he hit 30 years old? He won't be 30 until the 29th of December. Yeah. That man got two months. Yeah. Do you know how many sacks this man's going to have in two months?
1:01:54Yeah. And see, that's why I said they would have been willing to do it because of what he's already accomplished. And he has 30. Right. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. But listen, it still might happen. It still might happen because right now, the Browns, the organization, the GM, the scouts, the owner, I mean, we're really not going anywhere. They're not. They're not. We're not winning with them. So why don't we get pieces that we can use and continue to build for the foreseeable future? But here's the thing, Ocho. Can they build? Nah. Yeah, maybe Legos. Exactly. Toy laying. That's what they showed us.
1:02:39Yes. They had a quarterback, but they didn't want him to be himself. He got injured and he played. He tried to play through it. And, you know. Had me convinced that he couldn't play. Right. No, he could play. He just need pieces around him. Yeah. As all quarterbacks do. Yes. Look at him when he got pieces around him. Ta-da. Looking good. But, and, you know, look, they, when they got high draft picks, but see, you got Miles Garrett. Okay. Slam dunk. You got Baker. Baker played good for a couple of years. He got injured. You didn't have the pieces around him. Right. But you got Denzel Ward. But here's the thing, Ocho.
1:03:27It's those second round. It's the second through fifth that builds your football team. Yeah. That's where you make it. That's the way you build a football team. Yeah. It's those pieces. So do we believe Cleveland can fill in the blanks? That's the question. Can they fill in the blank, Socho? Well, have they been able to fill them in the past who knows how long? No. There's your answer. No. They haven't had a quarterback since Bernie Kosar, who's taken him to the AFC Championship game consistently. Now, Baker had a couple of good years, but I'm talking about consistent play for a three-, four-year stretch.
1:04:08It was Bernie. You know, in what was 80, 1980, when they had the cardiac kids, Brian Syke, Ozzie Newsome, Reggie Rucker, those guys. Yeah. But they haven't they haven't been that in a while. You know, that was good and like I said when they had Bernie they had Ernest Bonner Kevin Mack they had Ozzy I think with Metcalf was there too? Metcalf came in 90. Metcalf was in my draft. No, Metcalf might have been 89. I think Metcalf might have been 89. So he was there? Yeah, he might have been there. He was there. Man, you had to see him, man. That joke would stop on a dime, Ojo. With them high knees.
1:04:52Yeah, yeah. Man, Cam would like that. He must have ran track, huh? Yeah, I think he did. Yeah. He was silky smooth, man. He exaggerated his running form as if he was on the track. Mm-hmm.
1:05:09Garrett, 2023 defensive player of the year when he had 14 sacks. The five sacks today give him 10 for the season with nine games to play. It'll be tough for players on a losing team to win postseason awards, but he's going to be tough to ignore. Brian Burns is another. I think Brian Burns has 10 over 11 sacks. Garrett, eight consecutive seasons with at least 10 sacks. He's on pace to shatter his previous high of 16 sacks in a season. That's how well he's playing, but it's going to go unnoticed. Yeah. Well, listen, if he continue to make noise, continue to make noise, I think obviously before November 4th, I don't think he's going to be there.
1:05:49No, I don't think they trade him to the C.O. But let me tell you this, Ocho. Think about this. Do you know how hard it is to get sacks when you're getting your ass kicked? Yeah. This man got 10 sacks. This man got five sacks, and they ran the ball for damn near 200 yards on him. And he's still putting up numbers. On that team. And that's crazy.
