In short

Best-of segment debating Madden NFL 26 player ratings (especially why rookies/elite stars aren’t 99), plus football talk on training-camp conditioning and Steelers expectations.

Guests/backgrounds

No formal guest introductions in this excerpt; main voices include “Unc” (Ocho Cinco/Chad Ochocinco appears as the Madden ratings adjuster), “Joe” (co-host/partner), and “D-Jack” (Deshaun Jackson, head coach of Delaware State; also former NFL WR). Nick Turturro and other promo voices appear only as ads.

Key claims

  • Madden ratings are subjective and should start lower for rookies because they haven’t played an NFL down yet; ratings can rise week to week.
  • Players should prove ratings on-field; 99 doesn’t guarantee real-world dominance.
  • Ocho argues Cam Ward’s Madden rookie rating (~72) is “room to improve,” not a “joke.”
  • Mahomes is a 98, not 99, because last season’s production didn’t meet the 99 standard.

Notable examples

  • Rookie ratings cited: Travis Hunter 84, Ashton Gentry 83, Abdul Carter 81, Mason Graham 80, Will Campbell/Jalon Walker 79, Kenneth Grant/Jihadi Barron/Mikael Williams/Maxwell Hairston 78; Cam Ward 72.
  • 99 list cited: Saquon Barkley, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Miles Garrett, Lane Johnson.
  • Steelers talk: expectations to compete with Aaron Rodgers; division likely Bengals or Ravens.

2:29Shannon Sharpe:highest rating for a rookie he has an 84. Astin Gentry has an 83. Abdul Carter is an 81. Mason Graham is an 80. Will Campbell and Jalon Walker are 79s. Kenneth Grant is 78. Jihadi Barron is 78. Mikael Williams, Michael Williams, I think Michael, is 78. Maxwell Hairston is a 78. Cam Ward did not even crack the top 10 of Madden rookie ratings some are calling it an absolute joke oh Joe what you got to say for yourself listen I got I got something to say all of those obviously you got people that are complaining about obviously players on their team that got drafted into the first round now we talk about Aston Gentile we talk about um Travis Hunter Abdul Carter obviously if if you if you if you watch you know collegiate football they were exceptional we got a heisman winner and we got uh almost broke barry sanders russian record exactly let's understand what they did now young bull that's that's my dude cam ward was phenomenal at um and turning that program around but listen this is what we saw fit to put him as before the season starts you have to remember some of these players haven't played a down in the nfl yet and everybody wants their ratings to be super high when they've done nothing now rightfully so travis hunter a special individual Asin Jenty a special individual I'm not saying that Cam Ward is not special he is that being the quarterback number one for the Tennessee Titans but listen a 71 is justifiable which most rookies come in at the quarterback position at and how you getting mad this is nothing but room to improve what we do at EA what we do at EA for Madden there's a 17 game season that's coming up right now right Joe absolutely yeah week to week that rating continues to rise and raise based on consistency it could drop too that too so listen by by no means it is where he's going to be at but it can improve week to week so it shouldn't be a problem some of the players might be upset cam ward i love you you know how i feel about you what you hear me week to week week to week as you ball and you play consistent you got Calvin Ridley over there I know what you're going to do I know what you're going to do week to week he's going to continue to rise and I got you there's nothing to be ashamed of when I came out I was a 67 I ain't complain I was a 67 that put a chip on my head why is it so hard though for rookies to come into Madden with like a 86, 88 rate I understand, you know, we want, I'm saying, I'm saying, so if there isn't, there isn't, there's never going to be a rookie that can come in and they could dominate right away as far as Madden ratings.

5:28Shannon Sharpe:I understand, I understand, I understand, Ocho, Ocho, I understand that, you know, during the season, your rating can go up and down. I think, you know, you know what I mean? But why everybody has to start so low is probably what avid gamers are really thinking like, Like, man, why he got to be so low when obviously, you know, he doesn't understand what's going on. Let me ask you this. Let me ask you a question. As an avid gamer, did you start where you are now? Or did you have to work your way up? See, you didn't come in. Kasanek did not come in with this big screaming platform and have all these subs.

6:07Shannon Sharpe:He had to work his way up no matter how popular somebody is. If LeBron – I mean, it doesn't matter. I mean, they want something that they haven't worked for. Look, I get Travis Hunter got an 84, but he probably upset that he didn't get 90. He probably like, man, I should be a 99. I won the Heisman Trophy. I won the Belitnikoff Award. I won this award. I'm the defensive player of the year, yada, yada, yada. So he thinks his rating is low at 84. Yeah. Everybody wants to come in. Everybody's like, man, I should be a 99. I should be this. I should be there. I mean give it time Well, they used to didn't have no rating.

6:50Shannon Sharpe:So I went from a zero to 100. So anything's possible If people understand the accolades and the resume that come behind why he's the 84 you'd understand Look at Aston Jenty what he accomplished at the collegiate level. There's a reason why he's rated where he is There's nothing wrong with cam Ward nothing at all, right? He's a great quarterback I'm hoping he's quarterback number one for Tennessee, and he does the same goddamn thing C.J. Stroud did for Houston and the same goddamn thing Jaden Daniels did for goddamn Washington. But 71 is good. You don't want to give him these great ratings, and you have nothing to look forward to.

7:24You have nothing to look forward to. There's room for improvement, and if he plays how I feel and know he can play week to week, by the time you get to week 15, week 16, hell, he could be at 86, 87. 87.

7:37Shannon Sharpe:Mm-hmm. You're not going to make everybody happy with the radio show. You understand that it's subjective. And anytime you're dealing with something subjective, there's going to always be a problem with the judges, or in your case, a judge who helps adjust the Madden rating. And so that's what you're going to have. I mean, it's just like anything, anything that's subjective. Because, you know, if it's diving, if it's gymnastics, anything that's left up to judges, unless I win, unless it's a perfect 10, or in this case, a perfect 99, somebody's going to have something to say. Yeah. Every time. Yeah.

8:18Shannon Sharpe:Somebody's going to have something to say. Pass the 10, like, bro, I want defensive player of the year, and I ain't a 99? I'm all pro. I'm a pro bowler, back-to-back pro bowl season, and I ain't a 99. I mean, damn, what I got. So what do I have to do to get a 90? He's probably thinking, and I haven't talked to him, but I'm saying, Ocho, he's probably thinking what I gotta win MVP hold on he done he done tweeted me now he didn't he got me I told him I told him twin I got you I got you relax I know what you did last year we understand how special you special you are yeah we had a whole goddamn dissertation with the with the premier season the NFL about how difficult it is to get open on you I'm gonna take care of you I'm gonna get you but as it is all this is this is a funny thing on hey Joe this what this what this would kind of irse my nerve.

9:06All the people that are complaining about the ratings, right? All these avid gamers, all these Madden enthusiasts, like y 'all complaining about ratings and not even good at the game. They're not even good at the game. They're just complaining. They should be complaining because if you were really good, the rating wouldn't matter because it's all about your stick work and being able to manipulate maneuvers on how to play. Like nobody, a small fun fact, Joe, and something you didn't know. Not only are the Madden ratings adjusted, right? You know I'm the best Madden player in the world. I'm the best Madden player in the world in the world hey Joe in the world Joe that's why when I hear people complaining about me doing the ratings I'm like you can't even play because I don't care about nobody rating because my stick work is elite Joe you hear me

9:51Shannon Sharpe:I had to get your gamer tag and check you out bro Joe don't do that to me Joe Joe I'm like that yeah Joe hey Joe they call me Thumb yeah they call me thumb like that on that game and stuff man that's all i do hey joe i lost i lost hey joe hey um i lost relationship behind gaming joe that's how serious i take that shit hey hey me too me too i think if they look derrick henry has a case to be here like hold on bro i led the league in rush touchdowns i had the second most rush yards 1920 with 1921 and i'm like, I ain't a 99? You're like, what more do I got to do? You can't make everybody a 99. That's the point that I'm getting at, is that everybody, unless you are 99, really only the ones that have the 99 are happy with their grade.

10:49Shannon Sharpe:Everybody else, whether they got a 98, 97, 96, they're not happy with their grade. I just never understood. Me, honestly, Ocho, I really never understood it. Because just because you're 99 on the game, that don't mean you're 99 on the field. Because you're 96, 84, whatever. That don't mean you like that now. Right, right, right. You got to prove it to me every single week. You might start out as a 99, but I'm going to need to see a 99 week 1, week 5, week 10, week 12, week 15, week 16. The guys that got the rating, kudos. Chase and Miles Garrett and Saquon. Was it a quarterback that got 99? I don't know if there's a quarterback that got it.

11:27Shannon Sharpe:I think Saquon I think Lamar 99 Lamar Josh Allen Yeah they deserved it Okay cool But I promise you When y 'all get it on the field Ain't nobody thinking about nobody rating Ocho When you win against DB You go oh man I ain't gonna be able to get over That joke was 96 old man And I don't know what I'm gonna do Let me tell you something, though, Unk and Joe. Hey, the players really do care about their ratings, though. They do. They do. I know they do. Hey, Joe, I done got a few text messages. I see them pass, and they'll be like, come on, Ocho. Do me right. Do me justice. And I'll tell them one thing.

12:11If you got a problem with your ratings, I can show you why you are what you are. I can break it down in PowerPoint presentation and let you know. See, they used to, the players used to complain, oh, they got somebody that ain't ever played the game, and they don't know the ratings. No, I know. I'm watching film. I'm breaking film down. And we're basing your rating based on your play. Not just week to week, also against elite play. Against other players at the position that are really, really good. Are you going to show up? Don't just play good when there's somebody that you know is a little beneath you that you happen to be going against week one and two.

12:45You know, how do you show up against the big boys that are in your upper echelon of skill and talent? But we're going to talk about it.

12:54Shannon Sharpe:Go ahead, Joe. Uncle Ocho, y 'all know this video game stuff, man, done came a long way from when we was kids. So a lot of these guys getting a chance to be in Madden, getting a chance to be in NBA 2K. Like, yes, the ratings are a big deal. Dudes look forward to seeing what they got on the game, you know what I mean, within themselves. So I kind of understand it to an extent. But like I'll say, it's shit. You can't please everybody, man. Lamar Jackson in 2019 was a 79. Trevor Lawrence in 2022 was a 78. Joe Burrow in 2021 was a 76. Patrick Mahomes in 2017 was a 76. Caleb Williams in 2025 was a 76.

13:38Shannon Sharpe:Josh Allen, the year he came out, all these are rookies, I might add, was 74. Cam Ward is a 72. so uh joe burrow was a 76 coming off the heisman trophy and statistically had the greatest season ever for quarterback he threw for over 5 000 yards and 60 touchdowns and had chase so and he got a 76 lamar jackson was a heisman trophy winning quarterback and he got a 79 patrick mahomes just had a game where he threw for over 700 yards caleb williams a heisman trophy winning quarterback with a 76. So, I... I mean, what y 'all want? Y 'all want Ocho to put him... Y 'all wanted Madden and Ocho to adjust all those adjusters to put him at what?

14:27Shannon Sharpe:What would be an ideal rating for a rookie Cam Ward? 85? 86? Out the gate? That's what I'm asking. What would be an ideal rating to appease the masses? Would he need a... Would he need an 80? I don't know. Nah. Well, he has 71 right now? 72. 72? That ain't bad. He has 72 right now. So I think people are thinking, I'm just speaking probably for the people. I think they, especially gamers, probably by the 78, 77. Well, hey, listen. He could be that by week five. I understand that. Listen, Tennessee could be the dark horse team this year. there's only the team that come out of nowhere and just oh my goodness they wow us they do things we thought they couldn't do based on what they did last year they might be him and i don't understand why lamar got a 79 because lamar had legs and an arm so i can see why the same reason he got a 99 the same reason josh allen got a 99 because not only can they beat you with their arm they can beat you with their legs so i get i get why lamar coming out was a 79 uh and and josh we knew he was athletic but we didn't know josh was like this yeah athletic we saw caleb williams with the hocus pocus and all that other the old thing that he did heisman trophy winning at the end of the day somebody wasn't going to be happy with their rating somebody wasn't going to be happy that they got a 70 somebody got an 85 and they're not happy with that somebody got a 94 and they're not happy with that.

16:09Shannon Sharpe:So you're not going to be able to please everyone, but I tell you what you can do. You can play and change that grade. You know how the teacher used to tell you? Oh, I'm going to give you some extracurricular work and you can pull that B up to an A or you can take that A and go to an A plus or you can take that C and take it to a B. That's all on you. Okay. You don't like the grade to 72? Do something about it. It is. It is. There it is. And speaking, now to be on the topic of football, you know what I love about, I hate to go off topic, but I love about Twitter right now is the clips that I keep seeing from camp with the one-on-ones, the receivers and the DBs.

16:50So I'm having a joy breaking down what each receiver did wrong or what the DB did wrong or what the DB did right and what the receiver did wrong and just breaking it down and watching it. I feel like a little kid in the candy store just watching some of the videos from Browns camp. I saw some one-on-ones with the Panthers. That Keon Coleman. Well, Keon Coleman sent me his one-on-one videos so far. For Buffalo? Yes. He sent them to my phone. I'm looking like, boy, you've been putting some work. It's all seated. That's what I'm saying in my head. I ain't even get a chance to hit him back, but he sent me some stuff to go over and just talk a little bit.

17:34Man, listen, man. Keon, I know you're probably going to see this, boy. I get that for right now, but I need to see it on Sundays. I need to see it on Sunday, but you look good, boy.

17:47Shannon Sharpe:Because the thing is, Ocho, you know the difference between one-on-one and practice and one-on-one in the game is that somebody might, you might think one-on-one and they play in zone. Well, you know one-on-one in practice, it's all man-to-man. Ain't no zone. So you running and you patient. Everybody got patience in practice, Ocho. Oh, you taking your time, you setting old boy up, but you know come game time, ain't nobody rushing the quarterback in one-on-one. You got to go. You got to go. Got to go. All that.

18:24Shannon Sharpe:Your quarterback, this is what happened to your quarterback while you did it. Your quarterback slumped Your quarterback slumped over the wheel Cause he got hit in the back of his head Yeah man it was I don't mean to I'm so excited There was a rep on Twitter With Denzel Ward Jesus Christ my god this motherfucker so polished Oh I'm sorry for curving Yeah come on Ocho We ain't gonna make no money tonight bro Listen listen listen It was Cedric Tillman and Denzel Ward Bump and run and dog, it was when it's done right, the game of football is so beautiful. Yes, from a position standpoint. I'm not going to break it down right now, but it was too...

19:07Boy, Denzel Ward is nice. You talking about a technician?

19:11Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Well, see, the thing is, he's small frame, so he has to be nice because he doesn't have overwhelming sides. Right, right, right. So, you know what I'm saying, Ocho? So, his technique, It has to be flawless. And it is. And it is. I mean, you know, he's here. He's great. He's loose in his hips. So he's great to ease his turn and run. He's very fluid. He transitions very well. When you hear, oh, he transitions. Hey, he'll backpedal. Drop. Hey, start the run. Hey, DB, come back on the comeback. Oh, yeah, I'm on that too. Yeah, I'm on that too. I dropped my hips. I'm on that too. So I just want you to know I'm right here.

19:52Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Uncle Ocho. Yeah. At this time of the year doing camp, tell me something. Y 'all enjoy coming into camp already like in peak shape or you kind of use camp to count out? You ain't in no peak shape. You get in shape playing football, Joe. You get in shape playing football. It don't matter. Hey, Joe, it don't matter how much you work out. I'm saying, I see guys out there who don't look like they in great shape, man. I see some guys who look like they in elite shape. That's all I'm saying. I'm saying like what would your mind say coming into camp? No, the thing was, look, I taped it off like the last two weeks.

20:25Shannon Sharpe:I was still – I was probably like – at that point in time, I was probably 90%. Because here's the thing. This is how you know you're not in shape. When they put that two-minute drill on your ass. Woo. And FBA, you run a goal, you run a post, and you run a comeback. And you got to run back? Run back, yes. And the first thing you do this after three plays, that lets you know right now you ain't where you need to be. Yeah, right. And now that's what happens to guys now, Ocho, because at least in preseason, we're going to get everything that we need to do in the regular season. We're going to get some of that.

21:00Shannon Sharpe:And they're going to say, you know what? Because Mike might say, you know what? We're going to open up the game with two minutes. We're going to open up the game with no huddle. Because I want to make sure we get some of that with our number ones. So before anybody gets dinged, I'm going to make sure we get that. We're going to get some short yardage and goal line. We're going to make sure we get some 12 personnel. We're going to get some 11 personnel. You know, we're going to get some empty set. We're going to get all of that, Joe. But, yes, it gives you a great foundation because we've been sprinting on the track and we've been running hundreds and 200s and 150s and threes.

21:30Shannon Sharpe:We've been doing all that. But we ain't been doing none of that with no helmet and no shoulder pads. That's what we haven't been doing. Exactly. And so now once guys start leaning on you, and we always do that stuff on the third day when that soreness, when that old man set in. with that old man I already know what you're talking about man listen I enjoyed camp it was always fun but the best times is when you come into camp and you already kind of in great great shape because they're going to run the dog junk out of you in the NBA you're going to do a lot of line drills 17 I forgot what's named them down and back you got to make it y 'all do suicides in the NBA What?

22:18Shannon Sharpe:Man, listen, I don't know what they're doing right now, but I'm saying when I came into the league, Ocho, in 01, man, we worked, bro. Like, I'm talking about line drills, 17s. I'm talking about just the end practice. Yeah, like, you had to be in shape, bro. We had conditioning tests that we had to do. Hey, Unc, they was on that Coach Carter routine. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Ocho, that's what we did, too. See, we did too many at the end of practice. We never did two minutes at the beginning of practice. He said, because guess what? It's going to be at the end of the game in which you're going to need the two minutes.

22:52Shannon Sharpe:So why doing it when you're freshest when you're going to be at your tiredest late in the ball game? So that's what I want. Hey, man, we beat up Red and did all that stuff. All right, two minutes. Two minutes, man, I just got out the field. Man, I'm hard on that. Yeah, they get you where you're at your worst. When you're tired, dead dog tired, you ready to get up out of there. Yes. Get down on that line. We got 17. Everybody got to make it. What? Yeah. Yeah. And that's what that's. And so, yes, you want a good foundation. And you're right, Joe. If you got that good foundation, it's a lot easier.

23:24Shannon Sharpe:But, man, ain't nothing like football, football shape, but playing football. You got to do it. Because you ain't blocking guys. I mean, you got to drive to try to get the guy. Hey, Ocho, you got to run guys. You got to run guys off because you don't want to block them and run the wrist. You got to run 20, 30 yards down the field and come back. And guess what? Do it again if it's another run play. Or it might be a play, Ocho, hey, you ready for this deep ball? Hey, you just ran the guy 30 yards. Now you got to come back and run a go ball. And you better hope it's complete because now you got to run back again.

24:02Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. It gets a little different when them guys get leaning on you. I know. It's just like a basketball. 27:36Shannon Sharpe:All right, Ocho. Jamar Chase, ESPN's top-rated receiver, has a bone to pick with Madden ratings adjuster Ocho Cinco. That's me. And his rating of him. Let's take a listen to what Jamar had to say. That's me. I think I caught my rating, and I called Chad right away, and I told him this is the wrong rating. What was wrong about it? It was 99. Did you say he was going to fix it? I hope he is. I mean, if he don't, I'm going to be mad at him. Hey, I'm with him on that. I agree. I think it should be about 99. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Hold on, man. Hold on. Now, listen. What everyone did last season, right?

28:16Obviously, the updates will be in the new game.

28:19Shannon Sharpe:Right. The new game ain't even out yet. Right. He's a 98. His rating is based on... He'll be 99 then. Yeah, I don't know yet. I know. Because when Cooper Cupp won the Triple Crown, he was 99. Let me finish. That was the following season after the Triple Crown. He might get that 100. He might get that 100. That's reserved for me. That's reserved for me, Joe. Hold on. Let me finish. Let me finish, though. Listen. So Chase, he called me with a little A in his chest. Yeah? But I did. You look at a little A in your chest. So I blocked him. Yeah. Yeah, so I had to block him. Like, listen, wait a minute.

28:54Hold on. Tighten up now, young fella. Hold on, young bull. So I'm going to go back to my team. I'm going to talk about, I'm going to talk with my team over at EA, and we're going to discuss and see what we're going to do later on in the future.

29:07Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. Ocho, you really over the rankings? Oh, yeah. Yeah, he wanted to adjust us. Only for the skill position. Receivers, DBs. Yeah, only receivers and DBs because I know that. I know that. I got a question. I'm saying so can you make somebody a hundred and then like to the highest you can get 99 is the highest you can go but I know a guy that's on here talking to you Joe that was a hundred what the Ocho what the hundred Ocho yeah yeah yeah you was alright y 'all need to give me something y 'all need to y 'all need to grandfather me give me something for that I need something to hang on my wall Me, Barry Sanders, Coach Ryan.

29:52I tell you what, you send me my gifts, we'll make something special for you in the game. You all be fixing that... Oh man, come on. Hold on. Listen, I told you, listen, do me a small favor. Send me my awards and I'll send you money. It's simple. Hey, Ojo, where my money at? What I owe you, what? Come on, from the finals, bro.

30:14Shannon Sharpe:Oh, how much I owe you, Joe? Well, we went game for game. I think we had like seven games. I think we had like 700, 700, something like that. Joe, it was each game. Joe tried to get a... Joe tried to get a... Joe tried to say he won all seven games.

30:42Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe, you dirty, Joe. Joe, you owe Joe a hundred dollars. Hey, hey, hey. So you trying to rob me, Joe? You owe me a hundred, but it got to at least put a little interest on it. Come on now, Ocho. Okay, I tell you what. Hey, football season about to start back up and you still ain't paid, man. That's a violation, bro. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Stay with me now, stay with me, Joe. I promise you, when I come there for week one and we go to the Falcons game against Tampa Bay, there it is right there. Arke, you gonna roll with us on? What happened? Come on now. Come on now. Hold on. You going to go into the game?

31:17What game? Week one at the Falcons. No. And the Bucs. Ocho.

31:23Shannon Sharpe:I ain't. Ocho, man, I can't be going to no games, man. I don't like. Look, I like watching the game. I get better enjoyment watching the games on television, man. He said we got to work, Ocho. Yeah, we got to work. Listen, man. I don't, man. I'm bougie as hell, man. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, we'll go to the game. I can get a sideline passing, Joe. We can get sideline passes. Joe, I can't stand on the damn sideline with that bum-ass knee. What the hell you talking about? I'm going to push you in the filter. I'll be back in the game still. What you mean? Hey, Joe. Joe, you just had surgery. Yeah. You non-weight-bearing for at least three months.

32:01Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe. For the first six weeks, I got to wear this little splint on my leg. But once I got... Exactly. September 7th. It's going to be right there. I'm going to be getting up out this splint and boo wee. And guess what? Guess what? You do realize when you're on the sideline, you got to dodge guys. All right, now. All right. You want me to stay home? Just tell me to stay home. No. I'm going to get your ass up in the suite. No, I'm talking about in pregame, Joe, I'm going to push you in the wheelchair on the sideline. Nah, nah, old truck. Nah. We ain't doing nothing. If you think I'm going to go in there like, nah, nah, nah.

32:37Now you go, you know you could be cool in the wheelchair.

32:39Shannon Sharpe:He in the wheelchair like Paul Pierce. Hey, look, if I got to go anywhere in the wheelchair, I might well stay home. I ain't doing it. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Nah. What's wrong with this man?

32:56Shannon Sharpe:Zeus, the bully, said, Ocho, you make no sense. Jerry Goff rating higher than Jalen Hurts. Sanders, 67. Wasn't he the best QB in college? Voted by his peers. Crazy work. You heard what he just asked me, right? What did he ask you? Rating is based on statistics. Does he know that? So he just compared comparing Jared Goff, Spad, and Jalen Hurts. Like, what are we talking about? He said you got a Jared Goff rating higher than Jalen Hurts. I have a question for you. What did Goff throw for last year? he threw for over 4 ,000 yards okay what did Jalen Hurst throw for last year not over 4 ,000 okay there's your answer you don't get ratings based off accolades and we know he won the Super Bowl the rating is based off the oh my god you know what don't worry about it Dulo Gante I've been playing man since it was on Sega Genesis with three buttons Ocho I challenge you to a duel you not beat me you not beating me you not beating me in nothing madden fifa matter of fact any gaming console you not beating me in nothing from atari turbo graphics 16 nintendo nothing nobody can't say he that guy everybody can't be that guy cam newton say he that guy cam cam sorry as hell at madman Cam can't beat me doing nothing.

34:34Tennis, pickleball, golf, nothing.

34:39Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, y 'all did my man wrong. Patrick Mahomes was left off the 99 rating. Players with the 99 overall rating in Madden 26 were revealed today, and they are Saquon Barkley, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Miles Garrett, and Lane Johnson. What was my homeboy? What was he, Ocho? 98. Oh, okay. Oh, he's a 98. There are many quarterbacks. I know they made it to the Super Bowl, right? We all did football this year. Yeah, based on last year, he should have been 99. That's the whole point. The rating is based on your performance and what you did last year. Yes, they went to the Super Bowl.

35:21Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but he didn't. From a standpoint and the standards and the metric system in which we judge, Patrick Mahomes, who even though he's a 98, He is still one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He's not a 99 based off last year's production. I'm not sure why people, Chiefs fans, they fussing at me. They arguing with me. It's not a bad thing. No, it's not a lifetime achievement. You don't get a 99 and get to keep it forever. So I get to play like crap. I throw 40 interceptions. I'm still a 99 because I've had great years in the past. No. If you look at the guys, look at the season Saquon had, over 2 ,000 yards offensive player of the year.

35:56Shannon Sharpe:Look at Lamar. Josh Allen was the MVP. Jetta was what he had, I think, second most receiving yards behind Chase. Miles Garrett had an outstanding season. And Lane Johnson, we know what Lane Johnson represents. So these guys that are 99, they earned that. Petra Mahomes, he didn't earn a 99. He's a 98, which is good. If you'd have gave him a 97, I don't think he could have been mad considering how he played. Right. And I think people, we watched the Chiefs last year. We watched them struggle, especially offensively, even though they were winning games because Patrick Mahomes is just that great when it comes to managing game and not turning the ball over.

36:40Patrick Mahomes last year, he only threw for 3 ,928 yards.

36:46Shannon Sharpe:First season under 4 ,000. Yeah, under 4 ,000. In front of him, in front of him statistically, who threw for more yards, Lamar Jackson. Yeah. Sam Darnold, Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, and Joe Burrow. I mean, like, what are we talking about? It's not a bad thing. Mahomes is still, last year it showed us that he's human. What Patrick Mahomes has done so far in such a very short amount of time in his career, he is, he's like Superman in a sense. Like Superman in a sense. to the point we're comparing to Brady and he's still active with a long way to go. Yes. Hello, it's your favorite sports thunk here.

41:25Shannon Sharpe:Who gives Chad Ochocinco the right to give Madden rankings? He's been doing it for years now. I know. But how did he get told? He's not good at Madden. Oh, okay. Here we go. Is this a 1v1? Has anybody seen Chad Ochocinco play Madden? I know he's an avid gamer. I know he plays soccer. I don't give a... Man, listen, man. He plays FIFA. Man, I ain't never seen Chad Ochocinco play. So is this all 1v1? I don't even want to play it. Who's played? Like, bro, I'm a big browser. you know what I'm saying shout out to Mario see that's how I'm with folks head like bro you just can't start and just play me no I'm looking down at y 'all suckers I'm looking down you don't just get the right to play the great one are you serious do you know what these thumbs will do Golden Thumb Productions Golden Thumb Productions are you serious I've never seen Chad play he's not in the field for real he's not he's just that analytical guy so So I feel highly disrespected that EA hasn't reached out to me to really give ratings.

42:43Because you're in the field for real. For real. Okay.

42:47Shannon Sharpe:For real. And we tough. And trust and believe, man, we can put whatever on it. Ojo, where you at, bro? Pick up the phone, baby. Hey.

43:01Ojo, the floor yours. That ain't nothing but nonsense, man. He's talking about he in the field. So basically, based on his logic, I can't give ratings because I'm not good at Madden. So let's say I'm great at football in general when I played it. You hear me? I hear you. One of the best all time. That's what that for gives me the credibility to give ratings. Now, I don't know nothing about Cam Newton and no field when it comes to no stick work. I've been gaming since 1984. I've been gaming since 1984. And this stick work is the kind of stick work that Cam don't do. I didn't know he was a gamer.

43:35I didn't even know he played Madden. I didn't know. So obviously whoever he think he is on the game, I don't know about him. I've never seen him at a competition. Now you know about everybody. Yeah, everybody know. I play the game. Everybody know I do that. See, Cam, this is the thing with Cam Newton, you see. Cam Newton plays Madden recreational. He plays games in general for recreational purposes. Like, our game is a way of life to pay my fucking bills. See, that's the difference. Yeah, yeah, a big difference. I'm on some other shit. But if he want to play, and we could put whatever on it. He talking spicy.

44:12We could put whatever you talking about on it. Okay, that's what's up. And make it light on yourself. Cam, you looking for these type of problems? Man, Cam don't want no smoke, man. Hey, Cam can't beat me in nothing. Matter of fact, if I was the backup in Carolina, I would have took the motherfucking job.

44:36Let me ask you this. You didn't know Cam

44:40Shannon Sharpe:was a gamer? You didn't know Cam was good at Madden or other video games? I don't know about Cod and all these other things. Cam ain't good at, you know who good at Madden? You know who I know about? I know about Dez Bryant. I know Dez is good at Madden. I know that. His prowess on the game. Listen, I've heard about it. So I ain't heard nothing about Cam. I ain't heard nothing about Cam. I know Dez Bryant know how to play. Because I remember Cam was challenging LeBron because I think LeBron has like a top 1 ,000 or top 500, top something up ranking. So I guess you get ranked. I don't know. Listen, now you're talking about somebody that don't know ish about man.

45:17Shannon Sharpe:But I guess you get ranked. I mean, you play long enough and you get good. You get ranked, don't you? Is that how it works? Hey, listen, I don't know, man. Listen, the man, he talking spicy, right? He could have picked up the phone and called me. He got my number. Matter of fact, I'm for the blocking now. I'm for the blocking now. Like you coming at a true gamer. You know, this is what I really do. You do it for fun. I do it as a way of life. We different. We ain't even the same lane when we talk about gaming, man. DJ, you game? I messed around a little bit, but I heard Cam Newton like that, though.

45:54I ain't going to lie to you. You know who I really know like that, though? Darren James like that, too. Yeah, Derwin. Okay, that's another one. Derwin is that boy on them sticks, man. I ain't heard about no Cam being like that on those sticks. Man, Cam just probably, man, he want to rank them dudes, man. He just really coming at you, man. God dang. Listen, listen, listen. Cam, if you want to come over there with EA with me, man, holler at your boy, man. I got it. I got it. I got you, Cam. Come on over there, baby.

46:25Shannon Sharpe:Come on. Man, y 'all be taking that stuff serious for real though, huh? Hey, that's serious. That game is real. Hey, Jack. Jack, all my relationships ended behind gaming, huh? Man, for real. I can see that. Hey, I'm serious. I'm telling you. Half the time you on here, Elcho, can you get off the game and get ready to get suited up? Exactly. Listen, one thing about a chat, you got to understand, Jack, you got to understand. Listen, gaming is forever. Real talk. Temporary. You hear me? For real, gaming forever. I heard you say that before, too. I heard you say that before. Hey, your game ain't going to never wake up one morning and be like, you know what?

47:00You tripping. No, I don't want to do this no more. The game will never do that. The game will always be the same every time and it always bring out this happy side of you. Always bring out this happy side of you, no matter what. Oh.

47:14Shannon Sharpe:I don't know. I mean, maybe. Hey, Cam, I hope you watching, boy. You got the right one, boy. Yeah. Stop playing with me, man. Stop playing with my top, man. You know what? I think I'm going to start playing. I'm going to get good to beat the brakes off you, Ocho. Who? I'll get my 59 hundred back like that then. I told you, I'm going to give you money, man. I'm going to give you money. I got you. No, you're not. He said, no, you're not. Yeah, hey, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to start gaming. I'm going to get good. And I'm going to stream live when I beat you like 42 to 7. He said, I'm going to get that.

47:4642 to 7 in what? Madden. You can't. Come on now. You can't. I ain't. It's too simple. I ain't never played before, but I'm going to get good. I'm going to get good. You don't know how to work technology, young, so you definitely can't. Hey, can I do voice command? Can I do voice command? No, no, ain't no voice command.

48:08Shannon Sharpe:We're not that far advanced yet. I would go talk to Zuckerberg. I would say, look here, man, you got this AI, this meta. I want to be able to do my gaming. I want to be able to talk to it. Damn. Nah. I would get good at it. No, I'm not. because I don't have that kind of time. Yeah, you got the time. I don't have that kind of time. Hey, let me ask you about another thing, D-Jack. The Steelers ran the ball the fourth most last year while Aaron Rodgers attempted the second most passes. And Arthur Smith spoke about marrying the run, the heavy offense, to the pass-happy quarterback. We didn't bring Aaron here to sign DK for all that money to go run the wishbone.

48:45Shannon Sharpe:D-Jack, now that they have, you know, the Steelers have always had a defense that could get out to the quarterback. They kind of slacked off a little bit of that when they had Ben and A.B. and Le 'Veon. They were more of a pass-happy offense, and the defense kind of struggled. Similarly, they've gotten back. They've got T.J. now, and they've got Highsmith, and they've got Minka, and they've got Porter Jr. on one side. So they've got a really nice Cam Hayward. They've got him. So they've got a really nice defense. Now they've got Aaron Rodgers. They've signed DK. Solid offensive line. I don't think it's great, but it's okay.

49:18Shannon Sharpe:Friar Muth. They've got Calvin Austin III. They got some decent receivers. What is your expectation of the Steelers this year? What's the ceiling for the Steelers? Can they win the division? Can they make a deep run in the playoffs? Can they get to the Super Bowl? I mean, obviously Aaron Rodgers in my eyes, man, he's – I'll put him as a top 10, 15 quarterback all the time in my book. So I think he's a guy, obviously, coming off the injury last year. What was that, the year before? Whenever the injury was. The year before. right and then obviously last year really didn't have the success we thought he would have um i think it's gonna be tough like you said the offensive line is really not um the strength of that team you know what i'm saying and obviously aaron rogers he's older now what is he 39 40 he's 40 years old before the one and started the season yeah you know i'm saying so i think obviously he can't be touched he's not the young a right he can't move like he used to move so i just don't Let's see, why would you go get rid of what's the receiver?

50:20No, the receiver. Oh, you're talking about. Oh, Pickens, Pickens. George Pickens. Yeah, I don't understand. Why would you get rid of George Pickens if you had in hopes that you was going to sign to Aaron Rodgers? So for me, I know you got DK Metcalf over there. I just don't honestly, I'm going to be real. I don't see them winning this division right now. Not with my boy L Jack. Not with my twin L Jack over there in Baltimore. And I ain't going to lie, man. I think my boy Shadour is going to get in that starting job over there. I think Cleveland is going to be a little something this year, too.

50:48In that division, you got Cincinnati, you got Burrell, you got my boy Ocho team over there, you got Jamar Chase, you got T. Higgins. I mean, there's some cop in that division over there, man. I don't think it's going to be that sweet for them dudes to win that. I can't write that off and say they're going to win it this year.

51:01Shannon Sharpe:I can't. Ocho, what you thinking? They ran the ball the fourth most last year. Obviously, Rodgers wants to throw the football. He's always had success throwing the football. Obviously, like D-Jack said, not the success that probably he thought he would have or everybody had the expectations because he was supposed to be the missing ingredient for the Jets to take that next step. Obviously, it didn't pan out. They moved on after two years. What is your expectations for the Steelers? Well, listen, my expectations are for them to compete. They're going to compete not only in the division, but whatever their schedule may look like because they do have Aaron Rodgers.

51:35Aaron Rodgers is not the Aaron Rodgers of old, but Aaron Rodgers is better than what you had on your team before he signed right before minicamp. He gives them a chance to compete week in and week out. As far as winning the division, that's not likely. The division winners will probably be either the Bengals or the Ravens. I'm going to be realistic here based on the record between us. I'm going to piggyback on what Deshaun said, too. At some point, Joe Flacco will probably lose that starting job to Shadur, and his tenure in Cleveland will also start. So outside of that, as many people that may hate Aaron Rodgers for the way he acts and for all the stuff he does off the field, some of the things he says on camera and some of the things he says on TV, he does give you a chance and he does give Steeler fans and that organization hope to compete week in and week out.

52:21Shannon Sharpe:All right, D-Jack, thanks for joining us. Head coach of the Delaware State, D-Jack. D-Jack, tell people how they can find you on social media. You got a YouTube page. You got IG. You got Twitter, Facebook. Let our fans know how they can find you. Yes, sir, man. I appreciate it, though. Obviously, 101 is my Instagram, Deshaun Jackson, 10 at Twitter, Delaware State underscore football as well, too. We're going to plug Delaware State in here, man. Everybody need to go out, too, man, support that cause, man. I mean, October 30th, man, at the link, man, come through. We had Lincoln Financial. Got my brother, Michael Vick.

52:55We're going to be first time. Obviously, you've seen us a lot catching touchdowns. Now we're going head-to-head versus sideline-to-sideline in our old summer grounds, man. So come out October 30th. Mark your calendars, man. We're going at that thing, man.

53:08Shannon Sharpe:Let's get it. Yep. That's Deshaun Jackson, D-Jack. I appreciate that. Best of luck. Man, stop back by when you have some time, bro.

53:18Shannon Sharpe:Oh, let me ask you a question. What's your highest ranking on Madden? What's the highest where you've been ranked? The highest I've been ranked? I think if I'm not mistaken, a 98 overall. I think a 98 overall. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen, I was that boy back in the day, man. I was that boy. I was nice. I think, you know, for me, and I'm going to really be honest with you, I don't think people understand really how good I was unless you are really a football person. Because the antics and the fun and entertainment that I had, it takes away from all the hard work I actually put in to be able to pull some of the shit I did off.

53:53And I'm just being honest. And that goes for people, even the most highest analysts or those that have been watching the game for years, they allow the antics and entertainment to get away from actually how good I was.

54:06Shannon Sharpe:I mean, that happens because they're like, what? And I like it, but I like it like that. I enjoy that. I enjoy it, and that's what I wanted to remember for. Well, that's what happens. I mean, they say, well, he just talks. He's loud. He's braggadocious and all that. And so now when the NFL has started this National Titans Day and the NFL started posting clips and people like, hold on. Okay, now I see why Unk was like that for real. But here's the thing though, Ocho. See, you was a 98. I was one of the few guys that's ever been a hundo. Yeah, but a higher than 99. Yeah, for sure. I've been him.

54:43Shannon Sharpe:You was a 100? A hundy. Run tail there. Wait. A hundy. 99. 99. A hundred. Hey, hey, I need me some shoes that said a hundred. Because they ain't been a... The gold shoes? No. A hundred got to be platinum. Gold is for 99. I need platinum shoes. Basically, I got to check all time. I got to check the vote. I got to check the vote. I ain't never heard of no hundred. Because normally during the game, I wore red shoes. Because I clown fools. You know what I did? for real though, Ocho. Let me tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to give it to you the first half. You're going to be jealous that I didn't give you any, so I'm going to give it to you the second half.

55:29Shannon Sharpe:All y 'all are going to get it. All y 'all are about to get all this here. Don't worry about it. Don't tell him to shut up and stop talking to me because I'm about to start talking to you. I'm about to hit you up too. Oh, yeah. I got to check that out. I know you didn't and after that nobody else could ever get a hundy after 99 they cut it out after 99 they cut it out no no more hundies you were the last 100 then after me there will be no more ok I like that it's only it's only 99 rated it's only it's up there right now they looking at it when they got the 99 tight end like Gronk was 99 for a couple years Kelsey's been 99 for a couple of years, but the first guy up there, he better stop playing with me.

56:24Shannon Sharpe:I'm too big of a cat to be playing like a kitten. Somebody got to send that to my phone, man. Somebody got to send that to my phone. Hold on. That's like, hold on. That's like being in the grocery store and starving. How the hell you belong in the grocery store and starve? You work at EA. How the hell you two about need to send it to your phone? I work at EA, but you talk about 99. I was still in high school in 99, So I got to go back. That's how long I've been kicking for. When you was in junior high, I was cooking them. I keep telling you, people used to see me on the field with a pan, with a pot.

56:57Shannon Sharpe:They say, man, what you got in that pot? I said, I'm going to cook you, fools. That's why I got this pot out here on the field. I'm cooking crabs today. Yes, it's a low country bowl. I got crab. I got a sausage. I got corn on the cob. I got potatoes. All you bums getting it. I sound like gumbo Yeah I'm giving it to him So pull up a table cause I'm about to make a mess All of you You bought a sofa you didn't have to assemble A suit someone measured just for you And now you're taking a guy's trip that actually matters You've upgraded a few things in life So why are you still running with rough nicotine pouches On plus nicotine pouches With Nico Silk mesh No corners, no rough edges Just the softest pouch on the planet You've evolved And this is what's next on plus nicotine pouches.
