In short
Relationship “best of” advice and debate, focused on uncomfortable topics (hall passes, first-date expectations, “the one that got away”), plus practical dating rules (communication, trust, budgets, and what to do when things go wrong).
Guests
The episode is hosted by “Ocho” (Paul Verzi is mentioned as a separate podcast host in an ad). No co-hosts are clearly identified as guests for this episode’s main conversation. The only clearly named people are the hosts/voices in ads and a viral Reddit couple story (no real guest identities).
Guest backgrounds
Not applicable for this episode’s main discussion; it’s a conversational segment with Ocho and another speaker.
Key claims
Fun without communication is easy; enduring requires shared effort and tough conversations. Uncommunicated expectations ruin relationships. Titles create expectations that can make people lose their true selves. Trust violations (especially lies) are often “a wrap,” though some people have tried giving grace after betrayal.
Notable examples
A viral Reddit story where a fiancée asks for a pre-wedding hall pass; a first-date story with a 45-year-old leaving $100 on the table after a $159 meal; discussion of “walked out” dining experiences and setting drink limits on dates.

2:48Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, check this out. Seahawks Super Bowl champion Byron Murphy was walking around with the Lombardi trophy at his wedding this weekend. Let's take a look at the video, y 'all.
3:13Joe Johnson:Hey, that's dope, huh?
3:15Shannon Sharpe:I think they started to treat the Lombardi trophy like they do the Stanley Cup where everybody get an opportunity to keep it for a day.
3:21Joe Johnson:Right.
3:22Shannon Sharpe:I like that.
3:23Joe Johnson:Was that the actual trophy? Yeah, that was the actual trophy. Okay. Hey, that's live.
3:31Shannon Sharpe:That's live. Yeah, so, you know, ain't nothing left for me to do. Hey, I have a question. Ain't nothing left for me to do, but go on and do that thing on Choke.
3:42Joe Johnson:Hold on. See, that's what I understand. So those are replicas like you have, right?
3:48Shannon Sharpe:No, you get, look, John got the OG.
3:57Shannon Sharpe:Most people get the little minis. Right. But me. What does run, huh? I don't know.
4:07Joe Johnson:This was gifted to me. You know what? I'm going to get me one of them made too in gold. I'm going to get one made in gold man yeah
4:18Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to get one made in gold in Lombardi and Silver
4:21Joe Johnson:the same way I got my bus in gold and the bus is bronze bronze yeah so I want everything to be gold
4:28Shannon Sharpe:the one that they give you is made out of wood the one that they put in the hall it is the one that's in the hall is the bronze one the one they give you is the wood but I'm going to donate mine to Savannah State for real Yeah. And my jacket. Okay. Because I ain't got but one jacket. What I'm going to do? Get a jacket to the kid? Get one jacket to the kid? Get a Hall of Fame ring to a kid? Nah. That's going to go to Savannah State. I'm going to get a ring, the jacket, and the bus to Savannah State. The kids getting enough stuff. Trust me. They getting enough. They'll be okay. Yeah. They'll be okay, Ocho.
5:06Yeah.
5:07Shannon Sharpe:So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to have my Super Bowl trophy at my wedding. Who are all coming? hey we
5:14Joe Johnson:you get married next year huh yep we gonna do the dude wedding or nah
5:21Shannon Sharpe:we gonna do that you know we get a discount yeah but you know right now Ocho I've come to the realization I'm done being with somebody that I have fun with
5:34Joe Johnson:whoa whoa whoa wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute this is the very pivotal moment Yeah. Like, I like where you're going. Wait, wait. Let me get comfortable. Now talk to me.
5:47Shannon Sharpe:I found somebody that I can suffer with, I can endure with. Because you can have fun with anybody. Right. Come on, man. You can have fun with anybody. Take your time. Say you're going to the Maffy Coast. Say you're going to Tahiti. Say you're going to Santorini or Mykonos. Bali. You'll have fun. Right. When you come to suffering. When it comes to enduring. Come on, man. Who you want to do that with? Who would do that with you?
6:18Joe Johnson:I got a question, though. I got a question. Now, when you say you found someone you can suffer with, you got somebody you can have fun with. You know what that's like. Yeah, yeah. You know what it's like when the sun is shining. But when it's cloudy and it's storming and it's raining, they got the umbrella for you.
6:40Shannon Sharpe:Yes.
6:41Joe Johnson:How you even got to that point to realize that? Because most of the time, when it's storming and thunder, when it's thunder and lightning, most of the time, everything goes this way. Because when you laying there and she say, baby, I'm counting your breath.
7:02Breathe.
7:06Shannon Sharpe:Nobody else had ever done that. Come on now.
7:17Joe Johnson:I like that. I like that.
7:24Shannon Sharpe:I like that.
7:31Joe Johnson:I never heard that one before. I never heard that one before. I like that. Most of the time, my grandma always say, find someone that's willing to unpack your baggage because we all got it. We all come with it. Yeah. We all do. The hard part is finding someone's baggage to unpack. And most of the time, once you unpack it, when things go rough, you know, you pack their shit and you try, you try on, you keep moving on and thinking something else is better.
7:59Shannon Sharpe:Yep. That's always been my thing, Ocho.
8:03Joe Johnson:You already thought something else was better?
8:04Shannon Sharpe:Because that's what made us who we are. Yeah. Even though when I made the pro board, I thought I could be better. Even when I made all pro, I thought I could be better. Even when I had a thousand yard season, I thought I could be better. A double digit touchdown season, I could be better. It was always when you're satisfied as a person, you're through as an individual. So I was always trying to see to get better, to get better, to get better. Nah. You done.
8:30Joe Johnson:You waving the white flag, huh? I can be, yeah. Yeah.
8:34Shannon Sharpe:I can still search for greatness and be content. I like that.
8:38Joe Johnson:So you got to search for that greatness in other areas, other aspects of your life. Yeah, for sure. Hey, that's a good thing. I'm glad you got that piece of the puzzle filled in, man. I like that, man. I like that.
8:50Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah.
Read the full transcript
8:50Joe Johnson:I like that.
8:52Shannon Sharpe:And you know, she don't know what the old shit was like.
8:56Joe Johnson:Okay, okay. You know what I'm saying?
8:58Shannon Sharpe:Okay. The old shit used to go double overtime. Now she didn't get the first quarter. She didn't get the first quarter, don't you? Hey, I get the first. I got I got I put up here quick 10 yeah I'm out you done she ain't know I used to have a get a 40 point triple dub
9:17Joe Johnson:ooh
9:19Shannon Sharpe:yeah
9:20Joe Johnson:hey I got I got one more question though what's that one more question now this this is this is for me this is my therapy session because I like when we get on topics like this right
9:30Shannon Sharpe:yes
9:32Joe Johnson:is there ever a timetable to decide when you know that's the one
9:40Shannon Sharpe:yeah I think it is
9:42Joe Johnson:six months a year two years
9:45Shannon Sharpe:I don't know there's a time I mean I think you have a feeling and you're like okay when things go it's got to go bad because when it's going good when everything is good and you flying everywhere and you buying everything and by the time you buy this purse and that purse you give this and you give that
10:02Joe Johnson:yes sir
10:02Shannon Sharpe:okay when it goes bad hmm
10:09Shannon Sharpe:Come on now. It's bad. And I ain't finna beat you down now, but we're going to have a conversation.
10:19Shannon Sharpe:Just so you know, we're going to have a conversation. We're going to talk.
10:22Joe Johnson:Yeah.
10:23Shannon Sharpe:Okay.
10:24Joe Johnson:Hey, I get frustrated, right? I'm at that point now when things are great. Oh, when it's great, it's great.
10:32Shannon Sharpe:Yes.
10:33Joe Johnson:And I avoid those conversations. I avoid those tough conversations because I, what's the word I'm looking for? I love, I love my peace. I'm not one that, I'm not one that really likes chaos now at my big age. So therefore, when, when, when I, when I see chaos, I kind of, I kind of go into a shell.
10:53Shannon Sharpe:Right.
10:54Joe Johnson:And it's so funny when I'm happy, I'm, I'm a talker. Actually, I talk too goddamn much. And when I shouldn't be talking, I shut down instead of having those tough conversations that I should have. Yeah, I don't like having tough conversations.
11:07Shannon Sharpe:I don't like having tough conversations either, Ocho. I don't. I got to work on that, man. Yeah, I do. Everybody got to. Because I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, and it's just easy. I don't want to talk about it. You're right.
11:24Shannon Sharpe:It ain't easy, though, Ocho. Yeah. Damn sure not easy.
11:28Joe Johnson:Yeah, but who you telling, boy? It's a lot of work. Hey, Uncle, it's a lot of work, huh? And sometimes I think to myself, sometimes I think to myself, if things are supposed to be this way, why does so much work? Why does so much work? Is it natural? It is supposed to be this way. I mean, there's so many unanswered questions, you know, and I don't know. I just...
11:53Shannon Sharpe:Sometimes, Ocho, you could work like... And the reason why I equate a lot to sports is because I was good at it and I worked at it. And it's like, you know what? If I work at this, I can change this and I can be good at it. You can work for years and your relationship might not even get any better. Because the question is, is she working as hard as you are?
12:18Joe Johnson:That's a good one.
12:22Shannon Sharpe:Are you working for the same goal? because sometimes we get into an argument, Ocho, me and you argue. Yeah. So no, no, no, no, no. It ain't me and you. It's me and you versus the problem. There's a difference. We argue amongst each other. We go back and forth. But the problem's still there. How about you and I double team this problem? Right. What caused this?
12:52Joe Johnson:And most of the time, the problem, is me.
12:57Shannon Sharpe:Yes. A lot of times, a lot of times the problem is us. A lot of times is the situation where I'm going to get, just tell me. If you want something, if you want to do something, I don't like to have to figure it out. Figure it out.
13:12Joe Johnson:Right, right, right, right.
13:13Shannon Sharpe:What you want to do, just tell me. Because uncommunicated expectations will ruin a relationship. Because you have an expectation and you don't communicate what those expectations are. You assume I'm supposed to know. I have expectations. I assume you're supposed to know because you're at an age you've dated before. You have been in relationships before. You've been in long-term relationships before. Why do I need to walk you step by step? You was in a long-term relationship. You just wasn't in it with me. So I need to tell you what I expect from you. You need to tell me what you expect from me.
13:49Shannon Sharpe:So if we communicate these expectations, we're on the path to going somewhere. But when you don't have, when you have uncommunicated, when you don't tell me what you expect, I don't tell you what to expect. And then I'm swole because you didn't do what I expected you to do. You didn't tell me.
14:07Joe Johnson:And that's one of the worst things with marriages, with relationships, with friendships, is that one word. That one word, huh? Because we expect certain things. Yes. Once you have a title, once a title comes at anything, with a title comes expectations. Most of the time when it comes to humans, we always fall short. Yes. Human error is inevitable. No matter what aspect of life you're in with those expectations, then it becomes you trying to become somewhat of a character to meet the role that they want. Yeah. And that's hard because you're not even being yourself. Nope. You have to change who you are to meet someone else's expectations.
14:46Shannon Sharpe:How do you change? Because here's the thing. You got to be careful. Because changing who you are, you lose who you are. But that's what expectations are. Because you can't be your true self.
14:57Joe Johnson:It's impossible to be your true self if you're supposed to meet someone else's expectations. That's not even originally you. You have to be the version of the way they view you.
15:08Shannon Sharpe:You have to be. There's perception and there's reality. A person's perception of you is their reality. a person's perception of you that's their reality but that's not always the truth so now how she perceives you that is her reality that could be the farthest thing from who you
15:32Joe Johnson:actually are and which is which is which is normally the case 98 percent of the time women fall in love with the idea that they have in their head of you not who you truly are of who
15:43Shannon Sharpe:they think a man should be, what he should do. You should open the door. You should buy candles. You should buy cars. You should be thoughtful. You should write poetry. That is the perception of what they think. When did I ever give you that impression that was who I was? This ain't no Harlequin novel. This ain't no Hallmark movie.
16:06Joe Johnson:Yeah, this ain't the notebook.
16:07Shannon Sharpe:Hell no.
16:10Joe Johnson:This ain't even the tablet. Damn the notebook. This ain't even the tablet. But you know what I do like? I love becoming a better version of myself for the individual that you see in whatever way they do. Yes. How do how do I become that version of me or the version of in which you view me as?
16:28Shannon Sharpe:How do I how do I become the best version for you without losing me? Me.
16:36Joe Johnson:Because that is most of the time, one of the hardest thing to do, the two hardest things to do. chat. You've heard me say it before. Two of the hardest things to do is to hit a baseball and to keep a woman happy long term. Because in turn, in trying to keep a woman happy long term, you have to lose a sense of self.
16:55Shannon Sharpe:You do. But men are willing to do that. How many times do a man say, this is what she wanted. She don't want me to go out with my Ocho. Ocho, I got to cut back. She don't want me to drink. I got to cut back. She don't want me over the time with my in-laws. Yes, sir. What do women say? I would like this when you met. me.
17:15You
17:15Shannon Sharpe:ain't have a problem with it. You see, men are willing to change. For the woman that a man loves, he will change. That Joe will cut off his family. He'll cut off his friends. He'll do whatever to make her happy. It goes back to biblical. Samson told Delilah where his strength lied for a reason.
17:39Shannon Sharpe:Adam did what he did for a reason. David did what he did to Beth Sheba's hook for a reason.
17:49Shannon Sharpe:Just saying.
17:52Joe Johnson:Hey, that was a good therapy session. I like that.
17:54Shannon Sharpe:You know, we do.
17:56Joe Johnson:That was a good therapy session. Welcome to On the Field, today's hottest sports stories presented by On Nicotine Pouches. In 2015, teenager Joy Morgan discovered strangely compelling YouTube sermons from the religious group Israel United in Christ, or IUIC.
18:37Her initial curiosity developed into devotion. She distanced herself from friends and family, embraced new identity, immersed herself in the IUIC, and believed she'd found the truth. IUIC is the best family that I've ever had. In fact, she had found what many called a cult. And on Boxing Day 2018, Joy disappeared forever. In the new six-part investigative podcast, The Missing Sister, Charlie Brinkhurst Cuff and Free Turn explore Joy's story, the family she left, and the religious group she found.

I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not expect it to be almost a four to five year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble. I'd say probably start bone smashing. 22:00Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you know.
22:05Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, this one gonna get you going, Ocho. I don't know how you gonna feel about this one. A guy's going viral on Reddit for his fiancee wanting a hall pass before their wedding a few weeks away to start the marriage off better. We've been together four years now, and it seemed like everything was great and mutual. Yesterday at dinner, my wife, my soon-to-be wife, brought up the ideal of both of us having a free sleep with whomever passed before the wedding. This stupid ideal of hers completely blindsided me. I could tell she'd been thinking about it for some time, just wanted for the perfect moment to bring it up.
22:39Shannon Sharpe:She said it would be pretty healthy for our relationship. Yeah. She said it would be pretty healthy for our relationship and our marriage would get off to a better start because of it. She also claimed that it would help get everything out of our system. We've been, in four years, we've been together. I've never thought about being with someone else. Maybe you should start thinking about it right now. But it sucks to know she doesn't feel the same way. Once she realized I wasn't excited about the idea, she began to retract her statement. I really didn't talk to her, talked about it, and just went to bed.
23:11Shannon Sharpe:Since this morning, she's been apologizing over text. a hall pass you're gonna be in the hall you know what i'm saying don't you remember in school you get in trouble you go sit in the hall yeah listen um honestly this is this is how a lot of women
23:27Joe Johnson:think but they they refuse to come forth with with how they feel and some of the things that they like to do some of the fantasies that they may have listen you have you have to understand when you're with somebody it is very difficult there's there's always going to be somebody that looks better, somebody that's a little more prettier, somebody with more money. I mean, whatever the case may be. So I think it's very difficult for her to even mention the fact of having a hall pass before you get married. That just lets you know where her mind is. I mean, it just does. It just does. And the fact that she's retracting the statement, knowing that, don't retract it.
24:05Joe Johnson:That's just how you feel. Those are uncomfortable conversations that need to be had. And it needs to be had before you actually get married because at some point while you are married, you already know what happened when you are married and you're thinking like that anyway. You know, temptation is deadly.
24:23Shannon Sharpe:She might have that one guy that she's been promising because, you know, hey, you know if you get married, I want one more time before you get married. Okay. Okay. Hey, Unc, it's always wrong. I ain't going to say that it's happened. But I will say I know somebody that know somebody that happened.
24:45Joe Johnson:There's always one. They never marry who they want to. They marry who they can. Damn. They never marry who they want to. They marry who they can.
24:57Joe Johnson:I'm going to leave that on the table.
25:01Shannon Sharpe:Nobody know the troubles I've been through. Man! Bro. I don't even know. Man, I might have hit that thing like a rebel. Dead presidents. I might have just had to slump down in my chair.
25:23Joe Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Listen, at times, it's just something that more people need to do. You need to have those uncomfortable conversations like that with your people, with your partner, man. That woman said she wanted the hall pass. Yeah. It's like that. It's like that sometimes. Yeah. And matter of fact, and for those that haven't had those uncomfortable conversations, you want to know how your woman really feel? Go ahead and go through that phone one time. That'll wake your ass up. Go through her phone? You think that y 'all think that shit's sweet, huh?
26:02Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I ain't going through nobody's phone, no joke.
26:04Joe Johnson:I hear you. You ain't got to go through it. No joke. No, I don't want you losing no weight.
26:09Shannon Sharpe:I'm just telling you. I don't lose no weight. Hey, because I already owe. Ocho. Listen. When you go to Ocho, at Easter, they hide the eggs. When you go look at what you expect to find.
26:21Joe Johnson:Listen, when I walk through the mud, I want to come out dirty. Well, you going to come out dirty. Listen, when I walk through mud, I want to come out dirty. That's it. All right. Damn. Yeah, but you're right. Listen, you're around here. Boy, I'm telling you. Sometimes you're wasting your time. You're thinking you got something sweet. It ain't what you think it is. Ain't nothing but a lemon. Ain't nothing but a lemon.
26:52Shannon Sharpe:Man.
26:52Joe Johnson:Go to that phone. Go to that phone.
26:54Shannon Sharpe:No, I'm not listening to Ocho, y 'all. I'm going to find me. I'm going to find it. Who are you going to find? I don't know.
27:04Joe Johnson:Oh, you're right. What you mean? What you going to find? I'm asking. You said you're going to find it. I mean, you told me, like, the phone? No. Oh, okay, okay. My bad.
27:16Shannon Sharpe:I might surprise you make a guest appearance with. Sometimes you got to pop out and show them. Okay, okay, okay. I'm with you when you write.
27:27Joe Johnson:Yeah. I'm with you when you write. Step it.
27:37Shannon Sharpe:I want my homeboy to be an Ocho. I'll be my homeboy. We on the red carpet. We both got something. Who am I have? Ocho. Hey, y 'all been together five years. Fix it. Work it out. Work it out. Thanksgiving. I bet you go get a plate. You do see I'm at the house and ain't nobody here, right?
28:06Joe Johnson:She upstairs. You at the basement. Nah, I'm upstairs. Ain't nobody here. You would hear kids and everything. Everybody in Tampa. You notice how very strategically when I'm here at the house, it ain't nobody here? See how that work? Yeah. Man, we ain't talking about that. I know. I should I should get on the road and pop up out there.
28:35Shannon Sharpe:Nah, Ocho. Because you wouldn't like nobody to pop up on you. Don't do that. Hold on. You the one told me to do that. I know. Hell no. I ain't never told you to pop up. Hell no. You just did. You said go get a plate. It's Thanksgiving. But you said y 'all had already worked that out.
28:54Joe Johnson:Oh, no. I'm just playing. She sent me an invite, though. We're going to get it. You heard me? Well, shit. I got to get on the road.
29:02Shannon Sharpe:That's all right. Catch a flight early in the morning. That's a three-hour drive. Catch a flight. It's a 30-minute flight.
29:08Joe Johnson:I'm going to catch a flight from Miami to Tampa. Come on now. Easy. By the time I get to the airport and land, that would have been the three-hour drive. No, it won't.
29:17Shannon Sharpe:Nope. Man, go on. Go on. Look at the man. Look at Ocho. You don't put that kind of time in there, man. Don't just walk away like that, bro.
29:25Joe Johnson:Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I'm going to get me a plate now.
29:29Shannon Sharpe:A plate? Ocho, that's it. A plate of food. Turkey, dressing, mac and trees, ham. Mac and cheese. Cheese, mac and cheese. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ham, sweet potato pie. Ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know what else, but that's it.
29:51Joe Johnson:Yeah, that's all I want.
29:52Shannon Sharpe:I don't need nothing else. Okay. Yeah. You know, you got to be a gentleman. You got to read like, hey, this is the new and improved Ocho.
30:03Joe Johnson:Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
30:06Shannon Sharpe:I'm just going to eat, huh? That's it? That's what I want you to do. No, I want you to eat the food that's on your plate. I know you'll eat it too. I know you'll eat it too.
30:19Joe Johnson:Hey, man, I'm good. Listen, I ain't doing nothing until 2025, man. Just, you know, I'm taking the backseat I'm resetting. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Hey, listen. That's my dog. Yeah, I'm in a good space right now, you know? Yeah. I'm in a good space. Good old college. I got a singular focus. That's what I'm talking about. I got 371 jobs right now. I ain't got no time for no distraction, you know? Okay? I'm in a good space. I'm here. I like that. You know the horses at the Kentucky Derby, how they put the blinders on them? Yeah. You can't see nothing. You can't see nothing out your periphery See straight ahead That's where I'm at with it God damn it, shit
31:07Shannon Sharpe:I like that That's the focus that you need to have Yeah, and that's what I got It's going viral, explaining her date With a 45 year old Okay, okay, not my guy 25, 45, you know 20 year You know, A, D, K, I can rock with that Check this out on Joe A 25 year old woman is going viral explaining her date with a 45-year-old who left$100 on the table and walked out. She told him she wanted to go to a steakhouse. He took her to Eddie B's. Eddie B's in Nashville? There are several Eddie B's, but I know one in Nashville. That's neither here nor there. She ordered lamb chops, oysters, and crab fried rice after he only ordered a drink.
31:51Shannon Sharpe:Total cost of her meal,$159. You could hear her tell him, this is usually how I order. She paid the rest of the bill after he left $100 and walked out. I already know what Ocho thinking. I already know.
32:09I ain't mad at him. I ain't mad at him. This is the first time they going out? I guess. Yeah, I ain't mad at him. It was the first date. Yeah, I ain't mad at him. And the last date. For sure the last.
32:25Joe Johnson:Man, listen. Out the real? I was just going to say that. And most of the time, it's fellas out here, it's dudes out here probably that she's been with before and it's taken out. You know, it's all about showing out. It's all about showing out on the first date because, you know, first impressions are everything. You got to reel in. How do you reel a woman in? By doing all the craziness in the beginning. The more the crazy you are in the beginning, with spoiling and spending a lot of money, the easier it is to get to your end goal. and that's all it come down to. It's all a goddamn game, man. But Ocho, if you start...
32:59Joe Johnson:And that game is ruining women to pulling off shit like this.
33:03Shannon Sharpe:That's crazy. But switch here to the thing. Ocho, let me ask y 'all this. If I take somebody on the first or second date and I get a private plane, what I got to do next? Get the space shuttle? Where the hell I go from there? If I'm getting you lobster, if I'm getting you... Hold on. If I'm getting you lamb chops and oysters... Now, granted, we're in different tax brackets. Okay. But I'm saying the average guy ain't got bread like that. Okay. We get you a seafood tower that costs$400,$500. Okay. We get X, Y, and Z. That's one thing. But I'm saying the seafood tower, they got like four or five lobster tails.
33:42Shannon Sharpe:They got crab paws. They got scallops. They got oysters. They got shrimp. Whatever the case may be. That sounds like a group event. What was the price? What was the price you said it cost? Probably about$350 ,000,$400 ,000. Man, y 'all gonna bump y 'all goddamn head, man. But that's what I'm saying. But Ocho, but that's what I'm saying on a first date. If you do that on the first date, where do you go from there? Nah. You ain't nowhere to go. You gotta go to the moon. That's what I'm saying. How about we start with something? I ain't no sushi. So ain't no sense to me going there because I ain't going to eat it.
34:26Shannon Sharpe:But can we go to like some, like American cuisine? Okay. You know, they got burgers or they got some fish, they got some salmon. You know, they got, you know, they got a grouper. They got some type of fish. You know what I'm saying? Dover sole. How can we start ribs? Can we start there? Let's start going to the steak and you know, the steak is market price. When you start seeing something with market price, Nah. You know what it is. Now you gotta take it real old school nowadays. You gotta see what they really in for and you gotta take them on a couple picnics. Pack up some Smuckers, peanut butter, jelly sandwiches and something.
35:09Pack them. Crustables. I ain't making no say the Crustables.
35:13Shannon Sharpe:They already got the crust off. Yeah, the crust is gone. Yeah. Give me a couple of those. You know what I'm saying? A couple of iced teas, little Arnold Palmer's in the joint. Like I said, he really liked me. A couple bags of Skittles or something. See where we at first. Yeah. Hey, I'm a simple guy. Even swap ain't no swindle. Yeah. Okay, what we doing? You use me for the ride, I use you for the hide. You want to pay, I use you for a date. I mean, hey, even swap ain't can't be no swindle. Come on, man. Can't be. Come on, man. We chillin', good conversation. If you trying to be a sponsor, if you trying to be a partner, or you trying to get sponsored.
35:51Shannon Sharpe:Ooh. hold on
35:54Joe Johnson:hold on I got to you hold on hold on
35:57Shannon Sharpe:I just need I can be either one I just need to know I feel you I gotta know don't leave it up to me because I'm going to think the other way immediately that's just the way it is I ain't got no problem with you that's what you trying to do but I'm going to try to do what I'm trying to do too don't get mad
36:23Joe Johnson:I'm going to put that within my notes on my phone. I'm trying to be a sponsor. Hold on. What it was? Are you trying to be a sponsor? Are you trying to be a partner
36:32Shannon Sharpe:or are you trying to be sponsored?
36:38That's for real, though. That's for real. It's a lot of ones looking for sponsors.
36:43Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Look, I understand. Look, like I said, I'm a little older now, Ocho. So you know what I'm saying? But see, here's the thing. chick told me she said the reason why older men like younger women they she said a guy told her as we get older ain't nothing wrong with our eyes what we like when we was in that age group we still like now right I ain't got no problem I don't got no problem I ain't got no problem whatever whatever whatever we decide to do let's do that if you say Sheridan this is what it is let me decide I'm going to tell you what it is yeah it's an equal exchange that's where I think we're getting misconstrued like one outweighs the other this is a very equal exchange even Swap can't ever be a swindle
37:47Joe Johnson:Ocho
37:47Shannon Sharpe:look if you got if you got grain and I got cows that can produce, okay, Ochoa, I need some grain. Okay, I need milk. Okay, even swap. But now all of a sudden you come down there with some bull jive. Oh, no. Hell no. You trying to get over. You ain't got no grain but you want all this milk? Hold on. Hold on, baby. Hold on, baby. And listen, that's... And then you read all I'm saying. I ain't. Honestly, 98 % plan. I ain't about no headaches. I'm going to do right by you. Hey, you understand. 98 % of the time, you got all the milk.
38:27Joe Johnson:Ain't nobody got no grain. You just the only one providing the motherfucking milk. So I'm the only one bringing something to the party? 98 % of the time, yes.
38:37Shannon Sharpe:Yes. How about this, Ocho? Bring something to the picnic besides your appetite. Please. Can you bring plastic for us? Can you bring napkins? can you bring something other than your appetite I'm not saying you got to have the most elaborate spread but just bring something hey you go to somebody's house you can't just show up hey how y 'all doing and you ain't got nothing you gotta show up with something bring a bag of ice bring some cups, plates hey bring them cheap ass something that Ocho be like it bring something it. Yeah. Bring my court of orders. Yeah. Bring something. We done got to the point now we show up to people just because it's our presence.
39:27Shannon Sharpe:Hey, how y 'all doing? What y 'all got? Nah. We ain't doing nothing. Nothing. We ain't doing nothing. You know what we doing? Story run. Hey, we need some ice. I'll holler at you in a minute. And so a lot of times these women showing up with hoo-ha and think that's enough.
39:47Joe Johnson:well hold on you know sometimes that is all that's enough what are they advertising everywhere what are they advertising everywhere hold on everybody turn backwards everybody turn to the side using the sink to make it you know that's it
40:07Joe Johnson:that's all that's all there is to all I see your ass how do you catch our attention How do you catch that attention? The most valuable thing you have to offer is what you advertise the boat. Just like a man. If a man got money, what's the first thing you advertise? He got what? That moolah. Yeah. You know, what you say? Even exchange ain't no way. How do you say it?
40:36Shannon Sharpe:Even swap ain't no swindle. Well, you already know what it is. Catching a man. Catching a marlin ain't the problem. It's getting that sucker to the boat. Yeah. To the man, ain't no issue. Can you land him?
40:49Joe Johnson:Oh, yeah, you can land him, but he's going to throw you back out to the sea.
40:55Shannon Sharpe:Hey, I'm just going to keep jumping until I get back to the water.
41:01Shannon Sharpe:I ain't going to stop jumping. Stop, look. Oh, Joe, look, like I said, I'm in a situation now. I mean, when I didn't have a whole lot of money, knock on wood, I only had one situation with somebody. I thought somebody was trying to take advantage of me when it came to eating. But now I got some bread. Okay, you know, hey, we go to a nice restaurant. I mean, but you ain't about to get no Kobe. You ain't about to find nothing that costs$100 an ounce. Oh, hell no. Yeah. I ain't going to lie. I walked out on the drum one time like that. I was in New York at a steakhouse. She was just ordering it up, ordering it up.
41:36I went straight to the bar. I told the dude. I said, look, man, there's$200 for these two drinks. and I'm just going to slide. He's like, okay. Hit me about an hour later. Where you at? What's going on? I ain't never went back. I'm not doing all this. You ordering all this wine and you don't even drink wine. All of a sudden, you a psalm. I can't get your ass out of here. They do that to you, man. They know you got bread, man. Look. I'm out. I'll holler at you. You ain't even acting the same. When I met you, you was a chick from the runaway from the Bronx. Now all of a sudden, you Jenny from the block.
42:10I ain't, nah, bro. I ain't got time for that. See?
42:15Joe Johnson:See what you done started, Ocho? Oh, I started who? Who? Who? I don't even put myself in them situations like that. I don't play that shit. No, sir.
42:26Shannon Sharpe:$200 should be a nice little meal. $200 who? American dollars? Yes. $200 a nice little meal, Andy J.R. Yeah, for sure. That was gratuitous and everything, Ocho. No, I'm good. okay steak cost 50 I got a steak cost 50 she get two drinks I'm drinking ginger ale more times than not she probably be you know she ain't gonna want no dessert I'm cool 200 for the thing get a leave a tip okay 250 leave get a guy$30 to bring my car around I'm out okay I'm out 280$300 yeah
43:07Joe Johnson:Listen, you have to stand
43:08Shannon Sharpe:And then if you're a Nancy K Okay, I might go If I think you're a Nancy K I go to 400 So what you saying, Ocho What's your cap bracket? What's the budget?
43:24Joe Johnson:But, you know, I don't Eat at those places that you guys are talking about My places, I mean, I can be honest We family, and those of you that, you know, in the chat Especially if you follow me, you know, my stuff is always the same You know, my Bahama Breeze I love my Longhorn. I like Brimstone. I have a Cuban spot that I frequent all the time. So the places I like to frequent and go to dinner aren't like that. Aren't like that. So if you spend$150, it's the worst. They bring out sparklers and everything. Now, you have the thing about date night. Date night when I'm single now. When I wasn't single, and date night, now then, that's when I was introduced to different types of foods that I didn't eat before.
44:04Joe Johnson:And then now we talk about a dinner might be$150, maybe$200. Outside of that, it was nothing. It's something that I don't do in the norm, so I'm not used to it. Yeah.
44:14Shannon Sharpe:I think if you get out of there, honestly, I think if you get out of there with, you know, she going to get two drinks, at least I'm hoping. Two drinks, stay. Shit, that's$400 for sure. That's four right there. Your number's a little too good. Hey, hey. You ain't even drinking me that$30. Yeah, for real. Straight up. Cocktails like$30. I'll leave right there and go to the liquor store. She done popped that off. Before we even got the meal, now if you get an appetizer, you get one, she get one, boom. That's another appetizer going to be at least somewhere between$20 and$30. So you get two, that's$60, plus a drink,$90, plus my ginger ale, which is$10.
45:03Shannon Sharpe:That's$100 right there. And we ain't even got to the entree. No. And I ain't going to lie, man. I don't know if it's the times or the numbers that's going up, but it just seems like they drink faster than they used to. Those two drinks go a little faster than they used to. But they come back. Before you know it, it's like, oh, can I have one more? I'll just have one more. You said that three drinks ago. Like, damn, bro. Hey, and long you didn't drive, hey, you Ubering. Hey, we good. Nah, nah, nah. See, I can't do a sloppy situation. That's the quickest way to get me off your line. You come up with this, go ahead.
45:43Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. I ain't got a time for that. You got to act like a lady now. You got to keep it classy. Yeah, oh, no. Oh, no. I keep it classy now. Mm-mm. I'm going to put you on a minimum. I'm going to put you on a two, three drink minimum. For real.
45:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I think most women can handle two. I think that's... Now, they got something that, hey, two? Man, I could drink seven of these things. I'm like, yeah, okay, now I'm playing in my skate. I'm playing over. Wrestling tonight. Yeah. Seven? You in an MMA match. Yeah. Whoa, whoa. Girl, you more warmer than I ever be, man. Drinking seven of these things? Oh, hell no. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. No, hell nah. Like I said, I'm like you, JR, two. You get two drinks. We gotta get you at the minimum. And I gotta make sure, I gotta see what you drinking too. Cause they go order that$200 tequila and thinking they doing that Casa Azul and all that.
46:51No, no, no, no, no. Hold up, baby. Hold up. You was Reposado from Casamigos. Don't act like that now. Now all of a sudden you cost like a zoo. No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. This ain't that.
47:06Shannon Sharpe:You know, hey, hey, get a lemon drop, Cosmopolitan. I mean, hey, get one or two lemon drops or Cosmo. What else they be drinking? Sometimes women got the way they drinking, what, vodka water? Amaretta Sours and shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah, okay. Okay, I feel it. I feel it. Yeah.
47:28Joe Johnson:I don't know. What the hell y 'all talking about? man it's like a good stick that's all it's just like a good stick they just drink it faster you bought a sofa you didn't have to assemble a suit someone measured just for you and now you're taking a guy's trip that actually matters you've upgraded a few things in life so why are you still running with rough nicotine pouches on plus nicotine pouches with nico silk mesh No corners, no rough edges, just the softest pouch on the planet. In 2015, teenager Joy Morgan discovered strangely compelling YouTube sermons from the religious group Israel United in Christ, or IUIC. Her initial curiosity developed into devotion.

That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
50:10the declaration which is full of these beautifully rendered you know sentences and paragraphs about enlightenment ideals does also have this darker history to it why is it important for the darker part of the declaration of independence in the american revolution why is it important that Americans know about it. Well, if we don't understand the full context in which our nation was founded, we won't understand the full context in which our nation now finds itself. 51:41Shannon Sharpe:Nah, but I, hey, that's it. Two drinks, Ocho. They get paid. Hey, I want, can I get one more? Nah, babe, nah. Uh-uh. See, that's why, for real, I go to wine. Like, because I'd rather just spend, I'd rather spend 100, 120 on the wine and get you a nice good bottle of red. You're going to get four glasses. I get two glasses. You get two glasses. Everybody is satisfied. It's going to last us throughout the whole dinner. Right. But you sitting here doing drinks and this and that. Before you know it, they get that vodka or something up in you. I'm trying to get you to chill, mellow out. Go ahead and go to the crib, have a nice little night, all that.
52:18I ain't doing that no more. I ain't good like I used to. See?
52:25Shannon Sharpe:See, I don't know. You got to chill. Yeah. You know, when you get your situation rectified, boom. You turn your head for. I don't like the way you're looking like that. You see? Fix your body language, man. That's my coach. You look at me like, I don't know.
52:43Joe Johnson:I don't know. Hey, listen. We family, right? Yeah. Yeah. The longer, the longer, how do you say it? The longer you apart, the harder it is to get back. No, no, no. I mean, not even that. It's just like, it's becoming like, man, fuck it. Like the longer, you know, when it's something that's always constant, constant, constant, you have it all the time. And the longer it's prolonged and it just becomes like, man. Man. I'm just saying. Nah, I feel you. I'm listening to you. I hear you, man. That's tough. That's a tough situation, man. Man, work with nice you, don't you? I was about to say, let me ask you this.
53:35Is it rectifiable?
53:38Joe Johnson:Everything is rectifiable. I can't say that. Me personally, I don't have that in me. You don't think everything should be rectifiable? That's a good question. Let me ask you something. So, you, what isn't rectifiable in your eyes? For me - What can happen? Like if she does this, this A, B, and C, A, B, or C, you know what? That's a wrap. We can't do nothing no more. It's over. Well, for me, if I feel like I can't trust you, you defy my trust within, and there's layers to that. Like it's like telling a lie. If there's a white lie, and then there's the lies you know that's just overcrossing the shit.
54:18You know what I'm saying? And for me, I feel like people have a good, the person I pick, they got a good conscience to know what I'm standing for and what I'm not standing for. So if you cross that line, then I feel like you knew what you was in. You know how I roll. So you know it would never be a situation to where you're going to come tell me what happened. If it ain't that, if you put yourself in a position to where you feel like you can't come tell me, you can't tell me, then we never was what I thought we was and we should stop right now. Right. For me, me personally, because I trust too hard and I love too hard for you to be playing with me on a way that you, that I feel about you that you don't feel about me.
55:17Shannon Sharpe:Man, I can't take this anymore. Doc, you gotta help me.
55:23Joe Johnson:Man, this stupid meme is ruining my life. Now I know just what you need. Olipop. Ridge Rush has got fiber. Natural energy. It'll pick you right up. Oh, okay.
55:40Whoa!
55:42Joe Johnson:Now that's a rush. Smile for the camera. Ocho! Here you go, Internet.
56:02Right.
56:03Joe Johnson:So have you ever, since you've been dating, when you've dated before and you've been in love with these individuals and a woman has made a mistake where you've lost her trust, do you ever give her any grace? Or once you cross that line, it's it. That's it. It's a wrap. I have and I got burnt. Yeah, I got burnt crazy. With my homie, too. Like, my man. We was in Vegas at the same time. All-Star popped up in the room. He in the room. I'm walking in there, go see my little joint. He in there with her. I'm like, oh. Whoa. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Damn. And that hurt, right? After I already went through some little shit, I was like, okay.
56:45So, you know what? That's what we own. That's what we do with. Savage. I'm a savage now. that's what I got that's what you turned me into and I hate to I hate to use that as like somebody fuel put that energy in my back but yeah that's what after when I seen that and I was young I was like 20 I got drafted when I was 18 I was 20 like young boy into the league still it was like my second third year I was like oh okay this is how they really move and I was like I already bet this is the game plan you don't
57:18Joe Johnson:you don't you don't learn the game until you've been in it for a few years with great understanding
57:24Shannon Sharpe:on how they move. Yeah. You got to ask her, like, when you go to a situation, you got to ask some of the vets. Hey, what's up? What's up with her? Oh, man, blah, blah, blah. What's up with her? Blah, blah, blah. Because the vets know. And for the most part, they ain't going, you know, sometimes, you know, you stumble up on one and they want it and they're going to try to salt you up. But. It's a lot of hating ass vets. Oh, man. man I would say she was bad too I stumbled upon her you know what I'm saying I stumbled upon her you know every once in a while I only can't find a whole chicken in the trash he ain't gonna always find scraps I stumbled I stumbled upon one Ocho I made a mistake I was cool with dude cause he played with my brother so I thought like, you know, yeah, man, you know, I've been seeing her, I've been, you know.
58:23Shannon Sharpe:So, he gonna try to backdoor me. Oh, not the front door, he went through the back door. Back door. Check this out. He told the girl, he did what he told her. Oh, you gonna F him, and you ain't gonna give me no hoo-ha. Oh, hell nah. Yeah. yeah see that's the oldest trick in the book dog that's for years that shit still happens dog what years each outfit oh oh here's the thing to top it off Ocho he probably gonna be on the team next year
59:13I swear that one right there I swear. He gonna be out the league. He gonna be broke.
59:20Shannon Sharpe:He gonna be this, that, and that. Damn, champ. Because here's the thing, Ocho. The thing about like, not all. There's no situation of all or everything. But a lot of times, even if you cool with a chick and y 'all leave on somewhat good terms, if somebody come try to, on your team, come try to holler and say something foul about you, they're gonna let you know. They're gonna let you know. They're gonna let you know. every time too. Tell you. Even if you in a whole nother situation and cool with it and everything, everything good, they gonna let you know for sure. Oh, she told me. I had a dude in college.
1:00:01Shannon Sharpe:He gonna try to, ain't you cool with y 'all? It ain't like that.
1:00:10Joe Johnson:Really, dude? Hey, matter of fact, Hey, Jay, this is a great topic. This is barbershop. This is basically how the locker room is anyway. You ever been with somebody in general based on your experience and y 'all were together? And what happened? Do you give them grace if they step out on y 'all based on what you're talking about? Because, Jay, you said if trust is broken and you can't trust no more. Do you give grace or are you like you out of the dough? What you think? You out of the dough? How do y 'all operate? It all, man. It all, Ocho, for me. You got to think about it. When y 'all was playing, Jay, when you was playing, the individuals that are trying to talk to the woman you with are those that have money just like you.
1:01:02Joe Johnson:Just as much money as you got. Yeah, for sure. Just as much money. So the chances of them actually being loyal, I don't want to say it. it's even because depending on who's asking, depending on who's asking, your girl is single. Yeah, for sure. Hold on. Let me say this again. Depending on who's asking, even if she's with you, your girl is single. For sure. For sure. Okay. 1 ,000. 1 ,000%. I think the casual people in the chat probably wouldn't understand, but if you're in that world, if you're in that world, y 'all,
1:01:39Shannon Sharpe:you get what I mean. For the most part, 95 % of the time, you're absolutely right, Ocho. Big bank take little bank. No, for sure. That's why you see big corporations gobble up little corporations. I'll take over. Man, I went to the All-Star Game in Houston, right? And that was my second year. It was my third. No, my third year was in Vegas. My second year was in Houston. So I go to Houston. I have my first little, quote-unquote, video vixen, little chick, little smooth magazine cover, little joint. I mean, I got one. I was calling the homies back. Yeah, I got it, man. Yeah, I got it. Take it to the game and everything.
1:02:17But I'll take it to the game. But my seats wasn't like that. I'm still first year kind of guy.
1:02:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. So I'm like 15, 20 rows up. So we chopping it up, kicking it. Halftime comes. I'm about to be right back. Never come back. Halftime come back. She's sitting on the court side with a big homie. I'm like, oh.
1:02:41at the game.
1:02:43Shannon Sharpe:Left you mid-game? Mid-game. Left you mid-game. Sat on the court right there with the big... Wait, she left? The big... Huh? Yeah, dead ass. Like booty in the cemetery. Straight up. Straight up. Lefty right there standing. But to give you another story, so for me or my teammates, I had a teammate who's... Like, his man is... This is my head man. We all on the same team. Basketball team. Real live pro team. When we go out of town, my man's homeboy taps his man's wife when we on the road. Yeah, it gets funky, bro. See, I got to have him. You know what? It gets funky, dog. You know what it is, Gil?
1:03:34Shannon Sharpe:The thing is is that I'm not married to him. I'm married to her. Now, that's my homeboy. Now, see, to me, because I ain't got a whole lot of homeboys. For my homeboy to do that, and if I done allowed you in my home, I'm going to lump you up, bro. I ain't going to lie. Hold on.
1:03:56Joe Johnson:It's the disrespect. Hold on, but the disrespect is with the women in that scenario. Not the homeboy.
1:04:04Shannon Sharpe:My homeboy? Ocho, what's your homeboy name? The one that you grew up with in Liberty City? Shockey. Doink. Thank you.
1:04:15Shannon Sharpe:Your situation, hey, you out of town. You trust around your people. They go out there and they smash. Come on, man. I'm done with her. But I got something for him. No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm talking about a teammate, though. We on the same team. We're all three of us on the same team. Yeah. We going the road. Ocho man holla at my lady. He in my house with my lady when we on the road. Oh, see, that's now that's ultra different. Now you talking about somebody sending you, hey. Yeah, we need smoke. Now somebody letting doves go on Sunday. You gonna kill him out? For sure. I, Ocho, people will kill you.
1:05:03Shannon Sharpe:Boy, that's crime of passion. What? Do you understand? People get off of stuff like that. What you got to be careful is...
1:05:12Joe Johnson:Man, what... What I told you about managing expectations, boy.
1:05:18Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you don't manage expectations with a wife. No, sir. You committed. You ain't no managing... If you got to manage your expectations with a wife, why did y 'all even get married? Why did y 'all say those vows? It ain't no managing... If you want to manage expectations with a girlfriend, I get that.
1:05:36Joe Johnson:okay okay you're right
1:05:38Shannon Sharpe:a wife?
1:05:39Joe Johnson:I forgot the wife part I forgot the wife part
1:05:44Shannon Sharpe:look here women that are married y 'all gotta know who y 'all dealing with because everybody don't handle rejection the same way but it goes around the side so I understand for the women to snap when they man out here so it goes both ways I don't want women to think like are we on one side no it goes regardless if you get caught in that situation I ain't coming up I'm not coming up in no man's house nah dog Ocho you go up in a man's house you know a man lived there you know that's his wife anything that happens to you after that I'm okay with straight up nah hell yeah straight up anything the same thing I feel about when you spit on somebody see you get to control your actions you don't get to control the consequences of your actions.
1:06:35Shannon Sharpe:So you walk your ass up in that man's house. You know.
1:06:42Shannon Sharpe:Black women talking about I didn't know he was married. That man got a photo biz with a car seat in the back. What the hell you think going on? What posters around this motherfucker?
1:06:55Shannon Sharpe:What non-married dude riding around with a car seat?
1:07:03Shannon Sharpe:hey it's a dirty game man man stop playing oh joe i don't i don't play that's one thing i play you know i joke you know me and you joke back and forth and i joke i don't i don't joke with i don't joke about nobody's woman yeah no because i don't have i don't have too many situations in my hometown right where people have hurt somebody for real about woman hell yeah
1:07:27Joe Johnson:Hey, it's all about knowing a no disrespect to those situations. And this is fellas for you in the chat. All you have to do is pay attention to who you're dealing with and understand who you're dealing with early. And you never get mad. You never get mad. You'll be disappointed. Sometimes you'd be disappointed. You'll be you'll be disappointed because sometimes you grow to love an individual. Yes. Sometimes those red flags, they look green. sometimes, depending on who it is. Sometimes. When you understand exactly who you're dealing with, at some point the tables are going to turn. I don't be playing like that.
1:08:08Joe Johnson:My granddad used to say way back in the day, boy, I want you to always remember the same way you got them is the same way you're going to lose them. It always plays out that way every time. Always.
1:08:24I don't want that kind of I don't want that kind of lose I don't want to lose like that I ain't trying to lose myself like that No, no, no, no, no, no, no
1:08:32Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you got to be careful You do But boy, hey Boy, that love, boy Hey, boy, that pain Oh, yeah
1:08:42Joe Johnson:It don't play on What?
1:08:47Joe Johnson:Hey See, I ain't experienced that kind of hurt Like, y 'all, I can see your face. I can see the passion when you rose up off that goddamn chair.
1:09:00Shannon Sharpe:Coach, old boy, I'm telling you.
1:09:01Joe Johnson:I don't ever want to feel that. Man, look. I don't ever want to feel that. I didn't realize how bad it was until my brother and sister called,
1:09:13Shannon Sharpe:said, you need me to come out there. My sister never called. Right. My brother never, my brother calls, hey bro, you need me?
1:09:28Shannon Sharpe:No, I'm gonna be all right. He asked me again. He, I hung the phone up with him. He called me back FaceTime. That's the only time my brother's ever called me FaceTime. Only time. I've never talked to my sister FaceTime. Only one time my brother called me FaceTime. He said, look at me and tell me you're gonna be okay.
1:09:53Shannon Sharpe:I said what we always say Mayor Porter race three the hard way I'm good he hung the phone up I gave him my word I was good I gave my sister my word I was good I might lie in my life I lied to a lot of people I ain't gonna even sit here and tell you I haven't I ain't never lied to them two mofos I told them I was good I had to be good how you got over there
1:10:25Shannon Sharpe:it wasn't easy Ocho I ain't gonna lie it wasn't easy time yeah see and it took you a while to get over I got better at dealing with it see the quickest way to get over one woman is to get under another one I got up under me another one but nah in all seriousness it took a while it was tough because when you be with someone for a length of time right
1:10:56Joe Johnson:you know what's funny even when you be with somebody for a long time and even if you do get up on another woman that post nut clarity when it sets in and that temporary satisfaction that goes away that pain seep right back in
1:11:13Shannon Sharpe:reality hits again Because you know what happened though, Cho? You find yourself questioning yourself. Do I like this person or am I trying to get over that person?
1:11:25Joe Johnson:Trying to get over and it ain't working. Yeah, I don't even think it's a real question. I think you know you're trying to get over it. You know what I'm saying? It's almost like he tricking yourself into things.
1:11:37Shannon Sharpe:It's not fair to the other individual. Yeah, at all. I fell into that situation a few times, for real. that shit is not fair and it's selfish as hell because we all get trapped up in our own shit and by the end of the day you gotta be man enough to own it and tell them and be like yo listen this is what I got caught up this is not where what you thought it was or how fast I'm like listen I'm coming from a situation X, Y, and Z and it's tough bro I ain't gonna lie man like I left my mom my wife's kids, my ex-wife and her, I got three kids, we got three kids together, man. When I left home, like, that shit was like, that shit was eating me.
1:12:20Not only for the kids, but like, I felt like that was my homie. Like, that was my rollie. Right. And you go through, you know what I mean? We've been together for a substantial amount of years, like, I'm talking about, but like, when you growing apart and you growing through different layers and different phases of your life. Yeah, like, and you get up onto somebody else and like, you got to wash that whole stinker off you from a whole nother person. Like that shit, like, and it ain't stink like that, but it's like, you got like, people, I've always heard of my grandparents used to say it all the time, like, you better be careful who you lay down with.
1:12:54Like them souls and spirits upon you. And that shit is real for me anyway. Cause like when you laying down with somebody, you intimate with somebody, you giving everybody that type of energy, it's time to move on. You gotta wash all that shit up off you. Cause you can't carry no new shit upon you to a new situation. You'd be in the worst situation than what you just left.
1:13:15Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
1:13:20Oh,
1:13:21Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, and still, King Iso. Hello. Is there a woman from your past that you later realized you let get away? Perfect for you and everything that you dropped the ball on? Hey, listen. I may have let one or two get by. I may have not been ready. Yeah. I feel like I've had, you know, I've had a couple decent ones in my day, Uncle Ocho. But, hey, it must not be meant to be, okay? Yeah. You can't be mad at God. We say trust God and everything, but when women get away, we don't trust God now. Oh, man, what's that? Fact. You know, sometimes you, there's an old proverb that says you measure 10 times and cut once as opposed to cutting 10 times because you measured once.
1:14:21Shannon Sharpe:Hello.
1:14:27Of course. Of course.
1:14:31Shannon Sharpe:had I known then what I know now that's the thing about hindsight it's a magnificent science it's perfect because you know today what you didn't know yesterday so yes but it happens
1:14:56and at the time
1:14:57Shannon Sharpe:you don't think about it like you letting something good go. Because all you know is that, hey, you arguing or you setting your way, she setting hers. Everybody trying to prove a point. I ain't moving off my square.
1:15:15Hey,
1:15:15Shannon Sharpe:that boy real cancer. I ain't moving. I ain't moving. I know exactly what you mean. I mean, I mean, at the end of the day, you can only keep one of them 12s. You done had about 50 of them, but you could only keep one.
1:15:34Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, listen. I always say, listen, everybody, I think you're supposed to experience everybody. That's about it.
1:15:44Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey.
1:15:45Joe Johnson:Keep keeping them a long time. It just is...
1:15:49Shannon Sharpe:Hey, unless you kneel and you can talk to them and make them all get along. Hey, hey. I wouldn't even want no sandwiches like that. I ain't even know.
1:15:57Joe Johnson:That shit sound like a headache, though. It sound like a headache, on it all. Rob Markman - It got to be. Got to be. You know, when you think about it though, Uncle Joe, does anybody ever really get away? Because whoever's for you is going to always be for you no matter what.
1:16:14Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you right about that.
1:16:14Joe Johnson:Rob Markman - Because if they no longer here, they're not here for a reason. And when I look at it, anything that people would consider, oh, you lost, well, here, how come ain't nobody else picked it up?
1:16:26Shannon Sharpe:man listen for me I'm gonna keep it real with y 'all there has not ever been a woman that has ever came before basketball or me training I don't give a damn how you cut it you can boohoo and cry in my face but I'm finna go to this gym and I'm finna go hit these weights I'm doing that all day long that's gonna come before anything that's how I eat bro yeah. Like Grady used to tell us, the more you cry, the less you pee. Hey. Hey, so all that boo-hoo and guess what? You're going to have to give yourself a headache, but I'm going to get this training session in. Yes, I'm doing that. Yeah. Oh, he fumbled.
1:17:14Shannon Sharpe:I punted. I got the third down. I got the fourth down. I realized I didn't have a good a good enough play call, Ocho. So I put it. Yeah.
1:17:24Joe Johnson:I don't understand. You know, it's so funny. I hate when people say, oh, you fumble something. Like when you play a game of football, there's multiple balls that they use in the game. Multiple.
1:17:37Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
1:17:39Joe Johnson:You fumble one, goddamn, you catch the next one.
1:17:42Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I didn't fumble, I just fumble. As a matter of fact, I put it on first down. I already realized I wasn't going to get no yards. Oh, Joe, I already knew Joe. I knew I could go get that. I was like, you know what? Yeah, ain't no sense in me. Boop. Yeah, yeah. And I'm sure people look back and they're like, man, I had an opportunity. I dated Joe. I dated Ocho. I dated Black Ben. Hey, you weren't ready. We weren't ready. I've had a conversation many years ago with a couple of my ex. Like, hey, we were just both too young, Shannon. We were just both too young. You're right. I ain't. Mm.
