In short

The Cleveland Browns’ updated quarterback depth chart and what it means for Shedeur Sanders’ preseason debut, after injuries to Kenny Pickett (hamstring) and Dylan Gabriel (hamstring) and a sore shoulder for Sanders.

Guest backgrounds

The episode is hosted by “Ocho” and “Joe” (former NFL player/coach-style commentary). They discuss football strategy and player mindset, using personal football experience and anecdotes.

Key claims

Browns signing Tyler “Snoop” Huntley (spent part of last season with Cleveland) is framed as a sign the team doesn’t expect Pickett/Gabriel to play and needs another arm. Depth chart order is dismissed as less important than who gets reps with the first-team offense. Sanders is predicted to start Friday and be the focus of evaluation; the hosts argue he’ll get a chance to “knock the door down” despite limited reps.

Notable examples

Wally Pipp (opportunity created by an absence), “cream rises to the top,” and a Kobe/Black Twitter meme about Sanders’ first completion.

2:37Shannon Sharpe:The biggest news of the day, Ocho. The Browns have released their depth chart. Joe Flacco. I told you. I told you. QB1. Kenny Pickett. 2. Dylan Gabriel. 3. Shadour Sanders. 5. Excuse me, four. But they did bring in because two of the four quarterbacks are injured. Hamstring, Kenny Pickett, and Dylan Gabriel. And a few hours ago, this is what Adam Schefter tweeted. The Browns are signing Tyler Snoop Huntley, who spent part of last season with Cleveland. With Kenny Pickett, Dylan Gabriel, nursing hamstring injuries, and Shadour Sanders having a sore shoulder, the Browns need another arm. enter Huntley.

3:25Shannon Sharpe:Yes, sir. Talk to me. What are the Browns doing? I don't know what they're doing. We don't know what they've done the last 35 quarterbacks. Do they know? Are we sure they know what they're doing? Have they known what they're doing since that franchise has been established? Have they figured it out yet? Because the last good quarterback, no disrespect to the quarterbacks that have played for the Cleveland Browns, the last one that has been of decency has been Bernie if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, that's in mid-80s, though. Mid who? Okay, well, there you go. There you go. That's no disrespect to any of the quarterbacks that have played there, but it is what it is.

4:01We talk about consistency. Have we had one for a decade that we've been able to lean on and build around?

4:06Shannon Sharpe:No, you had a couple of years. You got a couple of years of Baker, but outside of that, no. No disrespect. Come on, man. Come on, man. So how do we... That's the problem that you have, Ocho. How do we support and trust this organization? when it comes to choosing quarterbacks at a position when they haven't figured it out all these years. All of a sudden, now they got all the motherfuckers. Excuse me. Now they got all the sense. They're supposed to have all the sense now. The depth chart to me, I'm going to let you go. The depth chart to me doesn't mean anything. We know what Joe Flacco would do when the lights come on.

4:38Kenny Pickett had his opportunity when he was drafted to the Steelers. So we've seen a sample size of that already. I mean, no disrespect to him. He's not the answer. Dylan Gabriel has success at Oregon when the lights come on. But it's a different ball game in the NFL with them grown men that got mouths to feed. Everyone should get an ample chance to win their starting position. We already know who quarterback one is going to be. We know who that's going to be. The depth chart doesn't mean anything. What they're trying to do is they're trying to break young bull. They're trying to break him, huh?

5:06That's all it is. From the draft process, to getting drafted in the fifth round, to the owner coming out and saying what he said last week, to now. Man, come on with that bull's eye, man.

5:21Shannon Sharpe:I don't see how Kenny Pickett still remains number two. He hadn't practiced since the 26th of July, if I'm not mistaken. So he's been dealing with a hamstring injury. But when you go out and sign somebody in free agency, I mean, I guess that does tell you they do think highly of him because they signed him. Dylan Gabriel, he's dealing with a hamstring. I guess the worst thing that happened is that we could have found out because had both of those guys been injured, we head into the first preseason game, and only Flacco and Shadour is healthy. Now, it remains to be seen how much Joe Flacco is going to play.

6:01Shannon Sharpe:If he plays, I'm thinking maybe a series, Ocho. That's top. Let's be generous and say a series. Now that was going to be Shadour opportunity to basically take us home. We saw Trey Lance. Trey Lance started the game and played, what, deep into the fourth quarter. the hell he might have finished the game with that being said uh the worst thing that could possibly happen happen for the browns is that the two quarterbacks that you're probably counting on they both got hurt most definitely and they got hurt early now we'll see how soon um it remains to be seen i think i said uh last night they played thursday they play thursday friday is it friday okay they play friday they play friday against three more days I'm excited.

6:52Shannon Sharpe:Is Shadour going to play? Yes, he doesn't have a choice. This is part of his resume. But what if he has? I mean, clearly they don't feel that confident because if they thought Shadour was going to be able to go, would they have brought a fifth quarterback in? Yeah, they had to bring somebody else in because Kenny Pickett's probably not going to play, especially with a hamstring injury. The game is fine. I don't think either one, I don't think two and three is going to play. So definitely, definitely he's going to play. Listen, the eye in the sky doesn't lie, and they need Shador to put what he can on tape.

7:23They need him. What are we going to get? What did we draft? All the work we put in, obviously, going against offense and defense in practice, that don't mean nothing. Well, you don't expect to get – Ocho,

7:33Shannon Sharpe:how long do you expect the$500 Carter last? Think about where they drafted him now. Now, clearly, they ain't putting a whole lot of resources behind it. No. so they're not let's let's let you know what ocho you we you know what we do here on night chat chat you know when you go by what we used to call what i was growing up we call it second when you go by something second hand and you spend five hundred dollars or you spend a thousand dollars and as is no warranty you're not expecting okay hopefully get me from point a to point b They drafted Shadour in the fifth round. They're not expecting much of Shadour.

8:15Shannon Sharpe:They didn't because if they thought that much of him, they'd have drafted him higher. If they thought that much of him, they would have given him a fair opportunity. But that's not what they've done. And I'm not, look, that's their organization. They run it how they see fit. But I don't know, people in Cleveland, I don't know how you would still have trust in this organization, consideration considering how many quarterbacks and every quarterback they say oh he's franchised he's franchised you said that with Derek Anderson and you said that after before him and you said that after him Baker got injured and you moved on from him now Baker didn't have the the weapons that he has in Tampa uh I don't think Baker's like oh my gosh dang I wish I could have stayed in Cleveland the weather's a lot nicer in Tampa and there's no state income tax and he had a great support system around him.

9:07Shannon Sharpe:With all that being said, I don't think it's much to like, boy, maybe they bet against him. It happens all the time. I don't want to... How does that make me look if Shadour looks well, Ocho? Wait, he's gonna... Excuse me. The adversity and the obstacles that young Bullets had to endure in general. he's been he's been pre been prepped for this he's been prepped for this oh they're against me since he got drafted when he dropped in the fifth round he already knew what time it was when your opportunity gets there when you get your opportunity you have no choice but to shine you have no choice they're betting against him not to do well right but if you want me to win the race also you got to put me on a fair bread like everybody else you can't give me a clysdale and say go win this race?

10:06Shannon Sharpe:Let me ask you this. When he is in the game, is he going to get the first team offensive line? Uh-uh. Because when they want to give you a serious look, Ojo, you and I both played this game for a long period of time. When they want to give a receiver a serious look, they let him run with the ones. They don't continuously see what he can do with the twos and threes. They give him a fair opportunity with the ones, the number one quarterback, the number one offensive line, and the other one receivers on the opposite side of him. Quarterbacks, or running backs, when they really want to see what you can do, they let you run with the one, the number one O-line.

10:48Shannon Sharpe:And normally, when they pull the offensive line out, guess who else coming out? The quarterback. Because the quarterback, the starting quarterback, is not going to be in there with the twos and threes. The starting running back is not going to be in there with the twos and threes. So I'm going to be very interesting to see. It is the first preseason game. And given the way the preseason is done now, starters don't normally play. They don't normally play, and they don't play much. So Shadour is going to have to make wine with the water, the well water that he's been giving. He's going to be all right.

11:22Shannon Sharpe:He's not been giving purified water. He's not been giving bottled water. So he's going to have to make do with what he has. This is the good thing, though. the cards that he's dealt on Friday night when he enters that game, regardless of what's surrounding him, he's going to make something happen. When he does make something happen, when he's able to make something out of nothing, and there's no disrespect to the twos and the threes and the fours that are trying to make that team, everybody out there vying for a job. For sure. But you and I both know, Ocho. I know, but listen. There are only about five jobs up for grab.

11:54Shannon Sharpe:They know within 40 guys, 41 guys, who's going to be on that roster. Listen, they don't know yet because what they're planning on and what they're trying to do, whatever it may be, when he gets his opportunity, all they got to do is knock the door down. I don't care what you put around me. I'm going to show you I'm going to get the job done. So imagine if I can get out there and cut up on Friday with threes and fours and twos at my helm, what you think will happen when I got the ones? What you think will happen when I got Judy and Joku and the rest of them boys at my disposal, as my weaponry, if I can do this with my threes and fours and twos out here in a preseason game.

12:36All he's done all his life is win, huh? That's all he's done. So now you put me in this situation, a little obstacle, a little adversity. All right, I've been here before. I got this. I've been here before. I got this.

12:55Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I agree with Jojo. I mean, he's never had a situation like this. You don't know what you can overcome until you're faced with it. Got talking, man, with my pen. Oh, that's a good one. Let me write that down. Because strength is. Don't go too fast, man. I got to write that down. I'm going to put that in my notes. Hold on. Because Ocho, here's the thing. See, strength is not what you possess. Strength is overcoming something that you didn't think you could. See, a lot of people think, well, I can lift this. so I can do that. That is not strength. Strength is overcoming something you didn't think you could.

13:34Shannon Sharpe:He's never been in this situation before. He's been the best. And now he's going to have to, that strength that his father has instilled him, his father is very biblical. His father is very into the church, is into the word. All those words that his father has been preaching to him for a lifetime, it will be put to the test. when the devil told yeah of course God he's going to serve you you give him everything look at the family look at the livestock that you have look at what you blessed him with why would he not serve you remove the hedge and he'll curse his very maker Shadur has had abundance of everything he had a dad that had resources to get him that opportunity to go learn and study under Tom Brady, to get him throwing coaches, and to put him in the best situations.

14:37Now, you can call on that, to recall what Tom said this,

14:43Shannon Sharpe:and this guy said that, and do this, do that. But at the end of the day, when you fall on your knees, now because see that's what faith is is believing even though you can't see it you see man says show me and I'll trust you God says trust me and I'll show you you see the difference between the two of you yeah yeah yeah yeah when you're teeing off and your clients are watching it's on when the game goes to overtime and your squad is right there with you it's on when you swap out that other nicotine pouch for something softer and feel the difference right away it's on on plus nicotine pouches with nico silk mesh no corners no rough edges just the softest pouch on the planet when there's nothing between you and what's next it's on with on plus nicotine pouches not all varieties available in all geographies warning this product contains nicotine nicotine is an addictive chemical.

18:09Shannon Sharpe:Shadour is going to have to rely on his faith. Because at this time, that's all he has. And I'm not so sure that he's not the only one that has it. Because I'm not so sure the people in that building have faith in him. But you can't listen, the people in the building, you got to worry about that. You don't have to worry about that. At the end of the day, if they don't want you, if they don't want you, let me let me put on film. Let me. Yes, you got this. What you got to do at the end of the day, regardless of what they do, regardless of where I am on the depth chart, I have a job to do and I'm going to do it to the best of my ability, regardless of what you put out there on the field with me on Friday.

18:50At the end of the day, it's still football. We've all been playing football since we were a good boy. Creamer rise to the top. Hey, the cream. Man, you just took the word right out of my mouth.

18:59Shannon Sharpe:How about you get ready to say that? Coach Ocho, I've been in Shadour. See, I was Shadour Sanders before Shadour Sanders, just at a different position. I know what it's like. I went to a team that just went to the Super Bowl. Although they got drubbed, they brought every receiver back. Mark Jackson, Vance Johnson, Ricky Natia, Michael Young. they only keeping five receivers and four of the guys that went to the Super Bowl are back

19:27they're back he gonna be out

19:29Shannon Sharpe:so we got they bring in four or five other receivers Shannon Sharpe's a seventh is a seventh rounder I know that but I'm supposed to be a camp body but what you expect out of me and what I expect out of me are two different things I don't let you set my agenda I don't let you set my expectation I see you that's how Shador has to think I know what y 'all I know what y 'all plan in life when Ray told Claw he said I know you're thinking something you got something up your sleeve I know you got something brewing I ain't got nothing Ray I got an ass cutting for your brewing

20:16Shannon Sharpe:Shador just needs to be should do it. He doesn't have to be anything else other than that. And that's good enough. His best is good enough. He doesn't have to be extraordinary. Now, the NFL, it is the league. Remember that movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? There are a lot of extraordinary gentlemen in this league. A lot of them. But that ain't what he has to beat out. And that's no disrespect to him. Let's be realistic. They take it how they want to. I'm just saying. Joe Flacco is in year 18, and he's way past his prime. Kenny Pickett, hey, we'll see he's hurt. Can't make the club in the tub.

21:03Shannon Sharpe:Dylan Gabriel, he's hurt. I'm telling you what's going to happen. One thing about it. One thing about the football gods. You hear me? One thing about the football gods. when they know, when they know, especially, it's funny business going on, the way they moving, cream always rise to the top. That's it. I don't care what you put around me. I'm going to make it work. I'm going to make it do the, listen, when you go to the casino and they dig you them goddamn cards, you can't control what you dealt. You got to play the hand you dealt. You got to play it to the best of your ability. That's it. That's all they got to do.

21:41Go out there with just straight, straight confidence. This is my team. You got to walk it. You got to play like it. You got to walk in that stadium like you own it. You got to walk. You got to. Oh, I see the game y 'all playing. Okay, bet. Let me show you something. Yeah.

21:58Shannon Sharpe:Let me show you something. And it's not easy because I don't want people to fake that. Oh, you never. Yes, yes. There were nights that I would go to bed and I'm asking myself, am I good enough? Man, I only got three plays. And I ain't catch a pass. So if I'm a receiver, how am I getting judged? Yeah, by everything else. To do as a quarterback. He don't get no reps. How is he getting judged? Okay, I caught one part. I caught it. I caught it. And it's like, man, I had this great career at Glenville. I had a great career at Savannah State. And now I'm here. In my mind, what person doesn't think that he's better than some of the people that he's going against?

22:46It wasn't like I was, I wasn't going against a Hall of Fame receiver.

22:51Shannon Sharpe:It wasn't Jerry. It wasn't Jerry Rice and my brother and Chris Carter and all those guys out there. That was how I was going to have to try to win time from. But look, it gave me confidence that John Elway told me I could play in this league. he thought I had the ability to play it helped me a lot when Mark Jackson would tell would legitimately tell me what I needed to do but yeah I'm fighting for a job and we fighting for a job and the guy told me the wrong route I didn't know it was the wrong route I went in there and ran it Dan Reed chewed my ass out did you do it full speed though? hey ask me what the hell I'm I'm running the route I'm slow.

23:37Shannon Sharpe:I just knew I read the right, right. Hey, nice move. Hey, nice slap. Arm over, rib that try to, you know what I'm saying, Ocho? Hey, I hit it right quick. Because you know back then, if you spend too much time dancing in a line of scrimmage, they're going to come up through your face mask. So, hey, plant, chop, I'm over. He blowing the whistle up like, damn, I ain't been halfway through my round, Ocho. What he blowing the whistle for? Let me get this rock and do something on it. Shannon Sharp, what the hell are you doing? You know, me, old smart. I'm thinking to myself, what the hell it look like I'm doing running that route.

24:14Shannon Sharpe:What you got on such and such? I thought I got.

24:20Shannon Sharpe:What can I say? Somebody told me the wrong route. You supposed to know what the hell you supposed to do anyway. That's, hey, let's learn. Let's learn. Let's learn. It's a cutthroat baby, though, Joe. Bro, I'm trying to get a job. and if I can remove you out of the way to make my opportunity to get this job easier guess what I'm going to do I am going to remove you called removing the competition we know it we hear all about the drug what they try to do take over somebody's territory you try to expand the territory it doesn't matter how I just need to expand I need to make sure so he tried to remove me I run the wrong route Hey, let me, hey, never ask again.

25:08Shannon Sharpe:But you know what? If Mary Porter used to say, God don't like ugly, sometimes he don't like pretty. Guess who was the first one to get cut? But he told you the wrong route? Mm-hmm. Hey, listen, one thing about it, boy, you can't deny greatness, boy. You can't deny greatness, you know? So I said, remember when we got, when we got, when Shadour got drafted, I said, it's a blessing in disguise. Because they've always been, they've always had an issue at finding the answer at that position. Now watch they try to play with him. I said, watch they try to play with him. And he ends up being the answer that they didn't even know they had.

25:56Watch, I guarantee you. And if I'm wrong, I put my foot in my mouth. if I'm...

26:03Shannon Sharpe:Well, the thing is, he might be the answer, Ocho, and that was not even the test that they gave him.

26:10Shannon Sharpe:That's the problem that they're up against. Wait a minute. Man, bring that back one more time. That's it. You said he'd be the answer. Yes, he could well be the answer, and that's not the test that they gave him. Hey, what are you preaching tonight, boy? God. What's for you? What's for you is for you. Can nobody stop it. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. And God is God and good and bad. And we just got it. We just, we understand that. We accept that. But, uh, yeah. He has a lot going on. Don't think his mind is not, hey, his pops, you know how close he is with his dad. His dad dealing with what he's dealing with.

27:00Shannon Sharpe:but his dad said hey you hammer that I got this you hammer that up there in Cleveland you let me take care of this down here in Boulder

27:11hey

27:16make the Browns great again MBGA yeah yeah MBGA make the Browns great again

Your Duolingo is not going to come back to you when a man is inside of you.

28:11Oh no! I'm Julie Pinheiro, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

28:59I'm Nick Turturro. You probably know me from NYPD Blue, The Longest Yard, or Spike Lee's Black Plansman. But I'm also from Queens, which means I know pizza. I've shared a slice with everyone, from Seth Rollins. What are you doing with my belt? To Alex Rodriguez. Just to let you people know, we're talking to one of the goats here. To Bill Burr. I don't think I've ever met somebody so exactly out of their mind as I am.

Shadur Sanders will start Cleveland's Friday preseason opener. Kevin Stefanski confirmed this today and added that Tyler Snoop Huntley will be the only other quarterback to play in the game with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dylan Gabriel slated to rest.

30:37Shannon Sharpe:Won't he do it? Won't he do it, Awe? Mm-hmm. Hey, look, look. The opportunity has presented itself. It's kind of like divine order if y 'all ask me, Awe and Ocho. You know what I mean? Like, it's like God working mysterious ways, man. I know we don't want nobody to get hurt, but to see them two dudes have, you know, somewhat hamstring injuries and Flacco, obviously, probably who's not going to play. Man, I'm looking forward to him just coming out, you know, relaxing and just having fun, bro. I think it's going to be a good time for the young fella. You know what my mindset is? What's that? Kenny Pickett and Dylan Gabriel about to get some permanent rest.

31:17Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to play so good they're going to be gone. when we get it's over for them it's over for them just go hey just do what you do enjoy the moment that's it just be you Titus stop hey but look can y 'all imagine like the jitters or the butterflies that he may have like he's actually about to get ready to live out of the American dream you know which is making it to the NFL that's probably one of his main goals and to be able to start in his first preseason game. Man, I remember when I was a rookie, Uncle Ocho, listen, boy, I took the preseason like it was the playoffs. Because as a young fella, you got to prove yourself.

32:03Shannon Sharpe:You don't know no better. You got to prove yourself. So only thing you know is going out there, playing hard and showing that you belong. Yeah. What's up? Wait, yeah, it's a party over there. What's up, Tiny? Man, Thanos done got a haircut. Where you at? He right here. Oh, I thought that was Teddy. Mm-mm. What?

32:35I'm just... What are they over here? Oh! Get him, get him, Thanos. Tiny. you need to hush bro you got some killers over there boy

32:55Shannon Sharpe:I agree with you Joe and I was talking look how this thing worked out yeah fourth string and gonna start yeah I told you listen fourth string he's fourth on the depth chart

33:12yeah

33:13Shannon Sharpe:I don't know. Because what I've been, I mean, I read and it says, man, Shadour is out playing Dylan Gabriel. And then some people keep saying, well, he ain't, I don't really know. I mean, I wish I could be there to actually see it for myself. But I've read more articles and it says, it reads that Shadour is out playing Dylan Gabriel. Yeah. I agree. I've been seeing some of that. I've been seeing a lot of it too. Listen, you know, my eyes and the ears, my eyes and the ears. They're in Miami. You hear me? What do you mean? What I want to know about what's going on and how - He got eyes in Miami.

33:49He got ears in Cleveland.

33:51Shannon Sharpe:Oh, okay. You hear me? So I just ask. I go straight to the source. I go to the source that's actually on the field. I go to the source that's not a media person, that's not an analyst, that can give it to me straight. Boy, what them boys out there looking like, man? Okay, boom. That last time I said a name, this time I'm not saying no names. which is why I'm so confident. And when we talk about Shador and the Cleveland Browns, that's all. Because I also mean no disrespect. I told you we were going to get this opportunity. I didn't know it would come this fast and in this way. I've said it. I've said it before.

34:28Okay, Joe Flacco is going to be the starter. And I say if things aren't going well for Joe Flacco because he plays well in spurts, he'll get on a four or five-game stretch and things somewhat fall apart to come off the hinges and then she'll get his opportunities. Now you get your opportunity early. You see how God worked? Remember the Wally Pipp story? You know about the Wally Pipp story, Joe? Yeah. Chad, if you don't know about the Wally Pipp story, look at the Wally Pipp story. I don't want nobody injured, but I just want the opportunities given to players that are drafted to a team to be fair.

35:01And everybody giving it to a team.

35:03Shannon Sharpe:Well, Wally Pipp wasn't injured. You just had a headache that day.

35:09Shannon Sharpe:It never got his jaw back. But, look, we'll find out. We'll see. Everybody, like I said, it's only three preseason games. So, I mean, the mere fact that he's playing, because normally when guys, they're not expecting guys to make a team. Ocho, normally they don't let them guys play because you know why? Because I don't want you to get hurt and I got to keep you. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Hey, but listen, he prepared for this, huh? Joe, he's prepared for this moment. If anything, and all you've been through, the doubters, the naysayers, the haters, your enemies, right there in your own backyard that drafted you.

35:53If what the owner said last week is not motivation to go out there and cut a plumb full in an organized way, in an organized way, in a structured environment, It's still the game of football. Show that you can be a leader. Calm, quiet, collected, and reserved. Martha, I guarantee, watch what happened. Guarantee he marched the ass right down the goddamn field in that first drive. First drive. First drive. I guarantee you that's how it play out. Marching right down the field. Listen, if you don't play well, I'm going to hold him accountable. If you don't play well, I'm going to hold him accountable.

36:35Just like we're supposed to hold everybody accountable.

36:37Shannon Sharpe:I mean, but you see how they fix it up, Joe? Huh? Oh, they talk about, oh, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dylan Gabriel are slated to rest. Nah, they hurt. Two of the three hurt. Ain't no resting. They ain't got enough credential. They ain't got enough time under their belt to get rest in a preseason game. They ain't done enough. Only one got time to rest is Joe Flacco. Exactly. He got 18. Okay. I get that. But them other two? They fighting for jobs now. Yeah. I'm excited. I'm excited. You know who play tomorrow? Who play tomorrow? The Bengals. That's who. What you mean? Who they play? They play the Eagles.

37:18What? We play the Eagles? You know? We play the Eagles? You know, we going to put belt to ass? That's where it's going to be.

37:26Shannon Sharpe:Man, first of all, y 'all don't play in the preseason. And guess what? Same thing. Hey, we can't. Listen, we're not pulling that. We're not pulling that this year. Y 'all pull that every year. No, no, no. I'm saying they've been relaxing in the preseason, right? Yeah. Not playing in the preseason and then going to week one, trying to go from zero to 100. Mm-hmm. So, Jamar, T, I need y 'all boys. Get one or two series. Get one or two series. Just get the juices flowing. Get acclimated to the speed of the game. I know y 'all, you're veterans now. Come on now. We can't start. We can't start. The season 0-2, 0-3 out the gate again.

38:06We can't afford that. We can't afford that. I give y 'all a quarter. I give them a quarter, Ocho.

38:11Shannon Sharpe:They ain't playing no quarter. They ain't playing no quarter the first preseason game, Joe. Maybe one series. One or two series. They ain't going to give us a half? Not to the third game. It's only three games now, huh? Three, yeah. Yeah, so the third game. Hey, Joe, we played a half. Damn near the whole first half. Yeah. Or play the first series of third quarter? Mm-hmm. All right. See what y 'all working with? Hey, Joe, I love the practice so much. I love the preseason so much because I wanted to get my body as acclimated to game speed as fast as possible. Joe, we could practice for 100 days straight, full pads against yourself, and you get in the game, it's nothing like that.

39:00Yeah. Nothing like that. it's faster no matter what you do there's no way to duplicate and replicate the speed of an actual NFL game I don't care how much you practice that's why I love it so much I had Coach Lewis I told this before Joe I would not come out the game in preseason I made Coach Lewis call a timeout you wanted to get your reps in what? it's about one series man he came out and the tools went in I told the receiver to stay back and I went back in the game again Hey, Ojo, I understand what you're saying.

39:35Shannon Sharpe:Rhythm and timing is everything, brother, especially in basketball. You know, so I can understand in football, you know, just, you know, route running, being sharp on your plays. I can understand that part. Just like basketball, if you don't play, bro, you lose that rhythm and timing and throw you off. Right. Yeah. Yeah. It definitely takes time. And look, I needed to get reps too. That's how I was, Ojo. I wanted to look. I understand, okay, we're going to go a series, the first game, maybe two series or the quarter, the third, the second game, and then we go into the half. We go at bare minimum, we go into the half, and normally we take the first series because sometimes we're like, okay, we're going to use the first series in the third quarter.

40:13Shannon Sharpe:We're going to go two minutes, so we're going to go hurry up just to get that in one time. But, yeah, I needed a preseason. I don't know how they do it. I take my hat off to these guys that come out there, and I guess right now the way they do it, Ocho, These are scripted practices against each other. I guess that's their preseason game. That ain't – that ain't – no, no, it ain't the same. Right. Not even close. But I'm anxious to see – I'm anxious to see how she do it. Look, I don't care what anybody says. You're going to be nervous. I don't care how long you've been playing football. This is – every – I got nervous every game I played.

40:54Shannon Sharpe:That's what I'm saying. So it's just the preseason. I mean, I got butterflies and I got goosebumps every game that I played. Same. And you've been playing. I've been playing tackle football since I was nine. Yeah. And I still got nervous. Yeah. Hey, Joe. What's up? They play that Phil Collins. Oh. In the air tonight. Oh, man. When that thing play and you out there stretching. I can feel it. Hey, Joe. Oh, man. Yo, right before kickoff and that welcome to the jungle star plan. Man, listen. I know what you're talking about. Joe, I'd be so nervous. Yeah. I'd be so nervous. And for one, and I made it even worse on myself, Joe, because I done talk trash all week.

41:40Ocho,

41:41Shannon Sharpe:it said Burrow and the starters will play the first quarter. See? Boy, we going to Super Bowl, boy. Man, I just told y 'all that. Hey, boy, we going to Super Bowl, boy. Listen, I know. Hey, Zach. Hey, Zach Taylor. Hey, Zach, I know you're going to see this. I love you. Hey, Joe Burrow, I love you. T. Higgins, Chase, the rest of the receivers, the whole line. Now this, this what they doing, what they doing today, what they doing tomorrow is going to be the reason why we're going to be in San Francisco. I said it here first. Okay. I said it here first. Now watch how we come out week one in September.

42:18Who y 'all got week one? It don't even matter. Cleveland? I think we got Cleveland. No, I'm serious. I think, hey, Chet. Chet, who we got on week one? The Bengals, we got Cleveland, right? You know what, Ocho?

42:32Shannon Sharpe:I ain't like opening up with division opponents. Let me get my rhythm. Let me get some time. Let me get like two or three games in before I tell y 'all, look. That first game, Ocho, you ain't got your time and your foot. You ain't got your feet right yet. You know what I'm saying? Let me get like three or four games in. Let me see y 'all week four, week five. Okay. Okay. But y 'all do open up with Cleveland. See, I knew. I know I wanted you. At Cleveland. At Cleveland. I got the schedule in my head. I got the schedule in my head. I'm ready. Hey, look. Look. It ain't nothing like getting off to a good start, neither, boy.

43:03Shannon Sharpe:Winning that first game. Oh, yeah. Yeah. It ain't nothing like you. You always want to get off to a good start, boy. It's important. Yeah, you got to win that first game. Ain't nothing like that. So the Browns are giving us your door one day of reps with the ones for the very first time at the joint practice two days before a start. Let's see here for a second, Chet. So all this time, he ain't got no work with the ones. Not one. Not one snap. Not one rep.

43:34Shannon Sharpe:Won't he do it? Hey. That boy's in the ball out, man. Hey, mysterious way. Them telly, you're going to go out there, take them boy right down the field. I'm just trying to figure out if you're really trying to do an evaluation. Ocho, how can I say I'm trying to evaluate you when I don't give you the same opportunities that I'm giving everybody else that I'm evaluating? Now, Ocho, I'm going to see if you can do this job. Now, the job requires a computer, but I ain't going to give you no computer, Ocho. But this is what I'm going to do. Oh, damn, them other guys ain't come to work today. Okay, Ocho, you up.

44:11Shannon Sharpe:Here's the computer. Now, you ain't let me work the computer the whole damn time for two weeks.

44:19But you know the funny thing about that, huh? Even though I wasn't able to work the computer for them two weeks, when you put the computer in my hands, I'm going to still be better than those that's had it at their disposal before me anyway.

44:31Shannon Sharpe:Hello. Hello. Come on, man. I'm going to be better than those that had the computer them other two weeks before me anyway. And I'm going to put it on display. under the lights at that. Well, I just thought, like, if you're evaluating, you evaluate under the same sort of circumstances. You can't say, well, I'm going to see these two. If I got two pans and I'm going to see which one can stand at the temperature, I got to put them under the same temperature in order to do a proper evaluation. I can't let one guy get no reps with the ones, only get a few reps with the threes and fours, and now I get two days before okay you up son that's not an evaluation evaluation is you put things under the same set of circumstances over the same amount of time I like it that's how you get boiling or you get freezing temperatures because guess what at 212 it's gonna boil he's either going to bust pipes or make diamonds baby I'm ready this is an opportunity this is what he waited for this is what a lot of people cheered for like man I sure hope he get an opportunity I sure hope he gets a chance to show what he can do and this is how the opportunity came about I don't feel bad I know you saw this chat I know y 'all saw it Joe, I'm not sure how often you're on Twitter, but, you know, I'm on there all day having fun, making jokes.

46:10But did you see the meme, right? The meme would, I think it might have been the end of Kobe's career. Kobe might have hit 60 at a game and all the celebs were there. And they used that clip of Snoop Dogg and Kanye. Everybody was courtside and they were cheering. It was hype, right? I guess Kobe might have hit 60 or something.

46:30Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he hit 60 that year against Utah. That's what it was? Yeah. And the caption was, this is black Twitter. Once your door throws his first eight-yard slant, everybody go over there. No, it is so funny. Even Prime had a comment on it. Eight-yard slant, his first completion. Yeah, first completion. His first completion, people are going to be, hey, that's the game winning the Super Bowl. Hey, dog, that was so funny. Hey, what y 'all think the Rays are going to be on this game? Friday, when they play. Oh, it's going to be crazy. Yeah, the rating is going to be crazy because, you know, everybody tuning in to CBA 12.

47:06Yeah, for sure. For sure.

47:09Shannon Sharpe:It'll be the one. Hell, this game might do a bigger rating than the real Browns game. Why, you boo? No, no, real talk. Yeah, you're right. You're right. You're right. When was the last time, the last time they had a player that was this talked about? you probably got to go back to Baker Mayfield yeah probably and the same thing happened to Baker remember you put Baker as the backup and everybody was talking about Baker the backup yeah damn hey this is how big it is Ocho Joe it's a national televised game Cleveland in the preseason yeah yeah it's the A's at time Let me add a little plot twist for you, Ocho.

48:02Shannon Sharpe:Cleveland-Carolina Panthers national televised game. That's crazy, ain't it? That's crazy, ain't it? It's crazy the power of that last name, even though they're trying to humble it. Let that sink in. Metastatic triple negative breast cancer. It felt like my world stopped. But moments like this.
