In short
Live episode of Debo and Joe from Pittsburgh Steelers training camp, featuring outside linebacker Alex Highsmith and TJ Watt. They discuss adapting to a new regime and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, leadership and culture changes, defensive strategy/communication, and goals for the upcoming season, plus personal topics like family, motivation, and cooking/fashion.
Guest backgrounds
- Alex Highsmith: Steelers outside linebacker; emphasizes faith and using his platform to impact others off the field.
- TJ Watt: Steelers outside linebacker; long-time leader; discusses partnerships (Abercrombie), playing style, and playoff motivation.
Key claims
- They say leadership means embracing change (new staff/culture) and driving buy-in from vets and young players.
- They praise Graham’s energy and his “freedom on certain plays,” plus more personnel changes to increase defensive versatility.
- They frame Super Bowl as the only acceptable goal and stress staying healthy and “playing our best” into playoffs.
- Highsmith claims his purpose is beyond football: being remembered for how he made people feel and for effort/motor.
Notable examples
- They reference losing to Jacksonville in the 2017 playoffs after a first-round bye as a motivation point.
- They compare LeBeau’s complex, nuanced defense to Graham’s approach.
- They describe Graham’s approach as building in situations where players are allowed to do more than the whiteboard restrictions.

5:34Welcome back to this episode of Debo and Joe. I'm your host, James Debo Harrison, and I'm here with my co-host, Joe Hayden. Please make sure you like, subscribe, and download where you get your show. How you doing today, Joe? Brother Debo, I ain't going to lie to you. I'm actually doing amazing because we got my good man Highsmith here. We got T.J. Swatt in the building. Yes, sir. The Debo and Joe show is popping. The Debo and Joe show right now is popping. Please welcome, please welcome the, the outside linebackers for the Pittsburgh Steelers. On my right here, we have Alex Highsmith. On my left here, we have T.J.
6:18Swatt. watch. Grab it like it's hot. Talk to him nicely. How your boys doing today, man? Great, man, after that introduction. Come on, man. That's nothing. When you come on the show, Solo Dolo, I got a real one for you. I got a real one for you, baby. It's crucial. It's crucial, man. Look here, man. We done came up here, and we obviously picked the worst two days to come up here because we didn't get all that great scenery. You know, to get that background to watch y 'all go out there and just sweat like dogs and, you know, just work out. Y 'all got, what, two days of indoor. Y 'all ain't really did nothing.
6:55Y 'all ain't did no work. Take care of my guys' mind. Says the retired guy. Says the retired guy. Yo, my boy's fresh out of the gym. Says the boat. Thank you, man. I'm going to tell you this. Just from being up here the last, you know, couple days, it's a little bit of changes going on. How are you dealing with the changes? Trying to adapt as well as possible. I think in leadership roles like we are, you have to kind of embrace the change and not be that guy that just says, well, we used to do things this way. This is dumb because we used to do this way. So I think that's been a big emphasis for us is to, you know, what we were doing before was great, but we have a new guy, new staff, new everything.
7:33So we're just trying to embrace as much as possible and be leaders. I feel that. How do you feel about that? I mean, just same thing. Just like TJ said, you know, we've got to embrace this change. As leaders, we've got to be the ones to drive the culture. You know, it's a new culture. And so we just got to continue to get guys, the young guys to buy in, get all the vets to buy in as well, new guys coming in. So I like the way things are going. I think we're building every single day. Yeah, you get the vets to buy in and, you know, they do it. And then, you know, the guys further on down the line, they follow through.
8:03I'm like a lot. A lot of the changes that I've seen, I like. And I understand what a lot of guys are talking about. And, oh, this change, that change, da-da-da-da. and not really saying what it is, but what it is is a lot more. It's business. It's 100 % business right now. This man is not, he ain't, yeah, he ain't cutting no corner right now. And to think about it, you wasn't here when Coach T first came in. When Coach T first came in, bro, that man worked us like dogs. Like, we lost to Jacksonville in the first round of the playoffs, bro, at home because, like, we were just beat up from the whole year.
8:40You know what I'm saying? So the new regime, the changeover, I like what I'm seeing because it makes you sit back and be like, you know what? The whole everything outside is just straight business. It ain't take your kid to work every day. It's family day. It's family day. And your family over there. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like we wasn't over there because we're considered media. So we had to go into the Redbox. Oh, yeah. Hey, listen, I was like, okay, cool. It's credentialed up. Yes. It's credentialed up. For sure. We got to go. We're cool. We paid your pay. Red box, you got to be over there.
9:18Oh, okay. We going. Cool. I like it. I respect it, though, man. Sometimes you got people all in the way. Y 'all got a job to do. It's real. It's training camp time. It's fascinating, though, because now we can see a different side. There's so many different ways to skin a cat. Yes. And be successful at the same time. So that's the fascinating thing about just change in general. Yeah. No doubt. How do y 'all feel about Coach Graham, the new defensive coordinator? Yeah, I'm loving it so far. I think PG, he comes in with a lot of energy. He's got a passion for this game, for sure. And he's won Super Bowls.
9:46He knows what it's like to win. So I think it's been awesome. And like I said, a lot of dudes are buying into his defense and his vision for the defense. And like I said, it's just about us being as leaders, bringing in the young guys and bringing those guys along and really leading the charge in that way. But we definitely like him. Like I said, he brings a lot of energy, especially in meetings. Every meeting comes in with the same energy. He's the same self. Love that. Yeah, I like that. I like that. is it anything that he has given you? Like, TJ, you've been in the league for a minute now. What you want?
10:17Nine, ten? Ten, yeah. Is it any nuggets that he's dropped to you that you're like, you know what, that's something that I never thought about that you can actually use now to help improve? I think he's really good at allowing us to have freedom on certain plays. Like, there's plays that are on the whiteboard that says, you can't do this, you can't do that. But he's like, hey, in this situation, you can't be under. you're allowed to do stuff. He builds it in. And I really appreciate that. I think we're changing personnels a lot more. And when we change more personnels, it changes where we go in the line of scrimmage.
10:49So you have to know more than just what the left outside linebacker, right outside linebacker are doing. So I think it's going to allow us to be way more versatile as a defense as a whole, honestly. Yeah, that was a lot with Dick LeBow's defense. When you came in, Coach LeBow's defense, I don't even know if you... You didn't come in and curse the defense. No, 17. So if you had came under Coach LeBow, like how the defense was is like you could have six defenses that look exactly the same and of those six defenses you could be lined up in the same spot three of them you may be blitzing three of them you may be dropping and then in that whole like you said that whole that whole nuance you had things where you could you would allow you know what i'm saying exactly and then you had things that it's like yo you can't do this i don't care you know what happens yeah yeah so i like i like the mindset.
11:32Unless, right, hey, hey, everything changes. And I was like, most of the bogeys on the sideline, like, D-boy, what you doing? You dropping? No, no, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You get that second thing, go say nothing. Absolutely. Yeah, yeah, man, for sure. What are some of your goals, though, this year for you, Highsmith? Yeah, I mean, obviously, first and foremost, Super Bowl is obviously number one. 100 % of the country. You know, obviously, we've got to the playoffs, you know, a lot, you know, since I've been here almost every single year. And so when we get there, we know we've got to execute and we know the type of team that we have to be able to make that run.
12:07So for us, I think it's once that time comes, once we get to that playoff time, really got to lock in on the details and play our best. We've got to be playing our best football going into the playoffs. And so, like I said, I know we have the team to do it, so we've just got to continue to build, continue to get after it every single day. Yep, yep, yep, yep. Hey, TJ, you remember when she told me why you were like, we were like, yo, man, we should get your brother over here. and you were like, yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah, you were like, I don't know about that because it'll be two Watts on there and it'll be a Jay Watt.
12:39You remember why you're talking? In college, I had to freaking do that too because me and Derek were on the same team. What would it spell out, TJ? T-Watt. Yeah. He was good on that. No, no, no. He was like, no, it can't happen, man. He's like, I had to do it in college. That's funny. But T, I got some things to ask you too. I see you've been into the fashion with your wife. What's going on with that? Abercrombie. Abercrombie. Shout out. A great partnership with them the last two years. Just trying to pick partnerships that make sense to me. And anytime I can bring my wife in, we can do a partnership together.
13:17I think it's a great opportunity. How that song? It's a lot of fun. What song? What song? I like something that we're kind of bringing in pictures. You know what I'm talking about, dude. Nope. Nope, nope, bro. It's not fashion like you, though. You show the road. Thank you, thank you. The cars, the fashion, the jewelry. Come on, TJ. I appreciate it. Joe, listen, man. Joe got two cars that's the same car, just different color. Because he wanted a black one and a white one. I don't understand that concept. Yeah, we sitting up here with some guys with some money. They know a little bit about it. Nah, not like you.
13:49Come on, man. TJ. I'm surprised. I'm surprised. I'm surprised. We were just talking about the pre-CBA money. Oh. $2 ,000. Yeah. That was an early contract. You do, too. Who? You won't be lying. We were a spot rack back in the days looking at what Debo had. I didn't get drafted. What are you talking about? I came in. I made$60 ,000 my first year. Okay. We're not talking about that. Not your last year. Last year. Last few years. Last few years. Minimum. Debo, shut your mouth. I'm not lying. It was minimal. I'm not lying to good people. What's something that you want to improve on going into next season, bro, with your game?
14:25I think just being, continue to be a force multiplier, just to continue to help improve people around me and try to be infectious in the most positive way possible. And like Alex was saying, play our best football as the season goes on and trying to find ways to continue to stay healthy and fresh down the road. I don't want a freaking playoff game my whole career. And sitting up next to guys like you, especially you, Debo, that's absolutely unacceptable. So, yeah, that needs to change. And I sound like just a broken record, but that's what it is. I was going to ask you, but basically, like, what makes you, keeps you motivated, like, to keep going?
15:01Holy shit. You basically answered that just now. Yeah, the farthest I've been in the playoffs was 2017 when we had the first round bye. We lost to Jacksonville. Yes. So that's something that, like, as a Pittsburgh Steeler for 10 years, man, like, you look back at legacy as a team. like what are you able to accomplish? I think that's something that's a box that's left unchecked right now. Yeah. That makes complete sense. Just knowing with your legacy, how great you and Cam and Highsmith just having players like that on the team, like we can make something really happen. Speaking of that, Highsmith, your career is over with.
15:39You're sitting back. I'm sorry. I'm setting up. I'm good. I'm setting it up. Your career is over with. You're sitting back, you're chilling, you're cheering, and they're talking about you. Pittsburgh Steelers fans talking about you. What do you want them saying about Alex Heisman? For on the field or off the field? Off the field. Off the field. Obviously, you know, for me, I feel like I know that I've been given this platform, you know, by God, to be a blessing to others. And for me, you know, I know my biggest purpose goes far beyond the game. You know, it goes to making an impact off the field and knowing that I don't have this platform for long, that I've got to use it for good while I have it.
16:25And so for me, I just want to be known for someone that made an impact while I was here. And whether that's in my community, you know, around the guys in the locker room, you know, I know that, you know, people won't always remember what you do, but they'll remember how you made them feel. and so for me that's just my biggest purpose in life is just to glorify God with the talents that I have and so when they turn that tape on I want them to see someone that plays hard what do you want them saying when they say Ali, the stiller I want them to say that dude's got a motor like that's what I want to see effort, motor, like that's what I want people to see like when I show my children in the future, when I show them film like dang dad, you was running you was moving, like yeah you know what I mean?
17:07So that's what I would say, like, for on the field, but off the field-wise, like, you know, definitely leaving the last impact that goes far beyond the game. Definitely. I love it, man. You know, that's why I figured that's where you were going to go with it. You know, like I said, I recently, over the last couple years, accepted my Lord and Savior, and it changed a lot of aspects of how I see things, how I view things, and what my goals and, you know, what motivates me, what drives me. And, you know, like you said, it's my Lord and Savior, you know, first and foremost. For you, TJ, when it's not like the way Debo put it, but when the game is all over for you and you hang up the cleats, what would you want the people to remember?
17:43I think Alex pretty much hit the nail on the head, but I think as far as football goes, I think the motor is the biggest thing. PG brought up a great point. We were talking about Brandon Graham. He had a great interview with him coming out of college and it just really stuck with him, and he said he made it a point to go back and watch the first play of his career, and he didn't have the tape, but he explained how it was balls to the wall hustling to the football, his first play. And he goes, now watch this. And he puts on his last play before he retired the second time. So it was like his first retirement was his last play.
18:17And it was a screen pass. The game was in the books, but he sprinted the ball. It was basically identical, first to last play, bookended by absolutely balls to the wall playing just for his team, just to put his stamp on the football. Well, it's that time again. Backpacks, first day of school outfits And the low-key anxiety of Am I even doing this right? Good Mom's Bad Choices is diving into the back-to-school season The way only we know how Unfiltered, funny, and full of the moments other shows won't touch From surviving morning drop-offs To the guilt of missing the first bake sale I already told me that next season she wants to join a club team that's by your house So I was like, so you want me to pick you up from school I'll take you by my house but then I have to take her there and then I have to drive back and then some days I'm here and I have to go pick you up at school and then bring you back.
19:10I was just like, hell no. This is a space where moms treat their highlight reel for the real real. Whether you're a new mom, a veteran mom or just trying to make it to pick up on time, this season of Good Moms Bad Choices is for you. I'm Manga Shatigular, and I'm back with a new season of the podcast Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones, and brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever for all of us.
19:51I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you, and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain. That's incredible. As opposed to his brain. Here's some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not expect it to be almost a four to five year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble. I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We've all been there. We've had seasons that have shaken everything.
20:37The question is, what remains when the shaking stops? Hi, I'm Gary Valenciano, and on my podcast, Unshaken with Gary V., I sit down with amazing personalities and we talk about the seasons that nearly broke them, the lows that carried them to their highs. Listen to Unshaken with Gary Vee on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
21:27Remy Wolfe, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name. And this season I've sat down with Joshua Homme, Sarah McLachlan, John Legend, and more. Check out my new episode with Phineas. So I went home and I asked Billie if she wanted to sing it. She immediately made it her own thing. No fair
21:52You really know how to make me cry So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to Playing Along on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, my love. Starting your day can be tough. You wake up, maybe hit snooze, and then scroll on your phone for a while, checking your emails, all before even giving yourself the chance to really open your eyes and breathe. And I want to help you break that cycle. My name is Ryan Weiss, and for the past 15 years, I've been an emotional intelligence coach and spiritual guide. And I'm here to share with you my new podcast, Waking Up With Ryan.
22:35Waking Up With Ryan is a daily audio video podcast to interrupt the inertia of your fear, your ego, and judgment. Here to help you connect with yourself before the noise of the day takes over. So let's start our days together with a moment of calm, a moment of reflection and meditation, a moment that's just for you. Listen to Waking Up With Ryan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Football game. And I think that's something that I think would be really cool for my career as well, to be able to put the first player onto the last play. Like, man, that guy loved the game.
23:13He gave everything he possibly could, not only for his teammates, but for the name on the front and the back of his jersey, to be able to go out and ball out each and every week would be something cool for people to say. A thousand percent. Definitely. I'll let you know this. I played with both of you guys, man, and just such good dudes, you know what I'm saying, on the field, off the field. Obviously, the playing, everybody sees that, but just locker room dudes and great leaders. So I wish nothing but the best for you guys, man, to continue success. Listen, man, you ain't letting these boys go yet.
23:41No, I just have to say that just because that's how I feel. No, no, no. You said that you're about to let them go. Listen, you hear me? When I got my boys around, I just feel like I got to give them love. He got, he got, he got, he got, he got, he got, he's with child now. Yes, he is with child. He's with, you're with child. How is that? That is life changing in every way possible. I'm telling him how great it is, man. I got a year and a half or 17 month old. Year and a half. I'm a year and a half. I'm a year and a half. I'm a year and a half. Year and a half. 17 months. Exactly. See 17 months, 23 days, 7 hours and 8 minutes.
24:18Exactly. It's the best, man. It has changed my life in every way possible in the best way. Just how I look at my wife and my daughter. Yes. I love my family, man. Oh, yeah. So good. Refocus. Absolutely. You start realizing what really matters. Like I said, I was one of those people, like, until I had my son. dude I I didn't care about nothing I didn't care about nobody and I was like I didn't even want kids to be honest when I had my son I'm like damn now I got this thing I'm in love with and I gotta take care of it and now I can't think about nothing but him and then I went and had another one and I'm like you know what I told you up until I had kids bro I believed I was invincible I believed I couldn't get hurt I believed I couldn't die that's how I got over my fear of flying in planes I told myself if it crashed I killed I'm jumping out.

25:10No, I swear. Still? That's how it – It's not no more. It's not no more. I'm cool. I'm cool with that right now. Do you hear me? I mean, I'm not ready to go. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. But when I first got in the league, oh, terrible. Dude, he got over his hair. Didn't you guys bust everyone when we first got in? That's crazy. There you go. You know how it was. We got Joe. Yeah. We got Joe. In 95, the team was worth it. Hey. Listen, man. It was – yeah, it was different. That's how I got over it. Like, I just believed I couldn't, like, you know, the plane go down, I'm going to bust the door open.
25:44The emergency, I'm going to jump out, I'm going to roll on the ground, have a couple scratches on me. That's it, and I'll be good. Yeah. Wild man. Wild man. What are some things that you do now that you said you'd never do, like, as a parent? Because that's what I always like. I'll never do that when I'm, like, walking it all back. So, the thing that I'll say, I said I would never do is be, like, easy on me. and I was tough. I was tough on my kids for a while, for a long time. And I'm still tough on my kids. But I don't, like I was like, I'm whooping ass for everything. Because you got boy or girl?
26:22Girl. He got a girl. You can't do nothing. You never see that. You got a wife. You got to do all the discipline. I can only imagine if I had a girl. Like how is it? Like, you know, God bless me with two boys. And I say that because if I had a girl, I would be soft. I'm done. I'm done. I'm cooked. She got it. I treat my kids. My dudes, daughters, they love me. And I'm like, yeah, I couldn't. How can I tell her no? I'm constantly sending stuff home, even at training camp. My wife would be like, send it back and forth. Blakely even gets to open it. So I'm constantly trying to spoil her. But Danny keeps me in check.
26:54Yeah, man. She got a tough one. She'll be an athlete, though. She'll be a push. I've seen you've been doing a little cooking. What's going on with that, man? How long you been cooking? You been shuffling it up for a while. I've been shuffling it up for a while. but I thought it was finally time to post some videos. I say my wife, Alyssa, she was like, you need to post some videos because you can really cook. I always post my story, and I know that, all right, let me post some and get my stuff out there and get some brand deals and whatnot. I would say I'm a grill master. I would say that. I think so.
27:26I've been doing it for a while. So, yeah, there's going to be more content coming soon, but it's definitely one of my passions outside the game. I love it. You're looking at me like, you can't really cook like that. Because he think he can throw down. That's why I'm guiding him. And I don't even know what that means. Cook-off on the D-bone. We will have to do a cook-off. Let's do it. Cook-off. Please. Let's do it. Sean, cook-off. Look here, man. We can't see. Listen, listen. Before we get y 'all out of here, winning that Lombardi, what would it mean to y 'all? What would it mean to you? It would mean, you know, everything in regards to this game.
28:05You know, that's the pinnacle of what you do. It's what you work for every single year. You know, you put in all those hours in the offseason and just to win it for the city, you know, for the guys around me, guys like TJ, Cam, Aaron, all the vets and the guys, just the whole team as well. It just means so much because we've got a lot of guys who put in the work. We've got a lot of talented players, a lot of guys who are great football players. And this city is so passionate about this game and about us, about this team. And so I think that would just mean a lot, just especially, you know, win it here, make it number seven.
28:38Oh, yes. Man, we're in the city of champions, man. Yes, sir. We've seen six Super Bowl trophies from the day we walked in the building. And it's been a point, the stairway to seven, however you want to pitch it, we need to get that seventh. And since I've been in Pittsburgh, I think the Penguins have won twice and have been able to have parades. And our time's got to be up, man. It really has to be. We put so much into this. you guys know what all goes into a season what goes into a career and um what better way to pay back a career and pay back the fans and our families and everything that has gone into this um the amount of support that we've had throughout our whole career to be able to absolutely to be able to pay them back in the city and just there's so many people that go into um this thing that we call the game of football that to be able to pay them back and hoist the trophy and have that memory where we can sit back and have conversations for years to come and show our kids, man, I want that.
29:36I want that for everybody in that locker room. And everybody is fans, so it would be damn special, man. It's the purpose, for sure. Definitely. We want that for you, brother. We want to thank you boys for coming on. Appreciate you, boy. Appreciate you, baby. Listen here, man. T.J. Watt, Alex Sinesmith. Y 'all go ahead make sure you keep your eye on him because y 'all going to be seeing him in February doing damage over there in Cali. Yes, sir. Y 'all know it's in Cali in February. For sure, for sure. Look here, Joe. Let's see what you got going on right here, Joe, because your Cleveland Browns, y 'all can rock.
30:12Your Cleveland Browns, man. Have you seen the video? He's seen the cooking video, right? Yeah, I think he did. I've seen the cooking. I've seen the cooking. I thought he was just out there, you know, telling lies. I'm taking high smell because of the look. I got a Smash Burger video on the way next, and I got some video taco videos. I'm dead serious. You didn't cook real for it. That's what I'm trying to tell you. You just, you thought you saw one video. I clean. You both clean. Come on. And you clean too? Appreciate you, brothers. Hey, man, what's your chef fee to come to the house and cook up something?
30:45I might, you. That man got money. Oh, no, for sure, for sure. All right, my good man. You got peed up? We got peed up. We're peed up. We got P-Dub, he coming through. Listen, man, we got P-Dub, he coming through. He getting mic'd up right now. P-Dub is a ball of the master. We got a double. We got a twofer.
31:12Look here, man. What I want to talk to you about is your boy Todd Monkhan over there. His explanation for Shador's thing. So Brown's head coach, Todd Monkhan. No, no, no, we ain't going to talk about that yet. You don't want to talk about that yet? Because it's going to take you more time than that. I need more time. You need more time than that? I need more time. I'm just saying we can make, you know. A little. Listen, all right, let's talk about this then. It was a kid in high school. That's actually crazy. Now, a high school player found a snake in his helmet during practice. Come on, P-Dub.
31:43Come on, P-Dub. What's up, baby? How you doing, man? Good, good. Good to see you too, brother. Good to see you too, man. Oh, yes, sir. We got P-Dub right here. Appreciate it. Fastest linebacker in the NFL That's for sure No doubt Fastest linebacker in the NFL Which was 40-time is? Combine was 4-4-3 But I think we can do a little better I think you run faster than that though Yeah That was on a bad day Bad day That was a bad day He walked down somebody in the game Whoever took off? Yes, whoever took off It was a receiver in that mind But it was 4-3 It was definitely 4-3 4-3 4-3 Prime Minnesota game Yes, there we go over there.
32:26Who was it that he chased down? Jordan Addison, I think. Yes. We was in Ireland. I almost said Germany, huh? So, Bo, you got a brother in the league that plays pitcher? Yeah, he pitches for the Brewers, actually. Okay, so who's the better athlete? I'm the better athlete. By far? Yeah, he's got a good right arm. Yeah, so he can't jump, he can't run? He was a good athlete, but the thing about... Is he older, brother? How old is he? He's older than me. He's older, bro. He's three years older. Oh, three years older. So not a lot. So here's the thing with baseball. Like, when you become a pitcher, like, that's all you do is pitch.
33:01Yes. You know what I mean? So, like, his off-seasons, he's just throwing the ball. Like, he's not – like, they do work out and they stretch and they do, like, shoulder stuff. Yeah, yeah. They're not, like, getting it in. Yeah. You know? He's not squirting the legs. In high school, I mean, he was a good player. Like, you know what, like, Furman is? You ever heard of the college Furman? Yeah. Yeah, in South Carolina. Like, he had offers to play baseball and football there. Okay. But he went out of high school. He got dropped out of high school. Oh, cool. So he's not... What are you doing? What are you doing?
33:28In high school, he was like 97, 98. Yeah, that was the craziest thing to me because we're from a small town, like really small. It's a little bigger now. How tall is he? 6 '2". Like 250. God. Like a tank on the mound. Is he okay? He bigger than you. Wider.
33:50How much you weighing, Pace? Like 243 right now. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. Yeah, I'm up there a little bit, so. Did you play baseball, too? That's up there for linebackers now? Nowadays. Yeah. It is? Yes. Because 225. Man, me and Wormley, we was like 280 and 300. Off ball? No, that's playing in the dirt. That's hands in the dirt. That's hands in the dirt, though. That was off ball. That was linebackers. That's what we did. Outside. Here's the thing now, right? Week one. Big Kirk. Big Kirk. 300. Three by one, you know what I'm saying? We got the back of man in space. I need a little more speed.
34:27I need a little more speed. How's it been like playing with McQueen? It was really good. It was really cool for me coming in because, you know, you hear the stories like when young guys come in and, you know, you're not like bullied or whatever, but just like haze and stuff. I mean, not all that stuff, but like, I mean, And I went through my rookie duties and stuff, but when it came to own field stuff, he was really good to me. Yeah. In a sense of like, you know, he always brought me along. Never really looked at me as a younger guy. Yeah, yeah. You know, like if I made a mistake, he held me to the same standard.
34:59He was holding everybody else. So that was really important for me. And just, you know, now as I'm getting into my third year, I'm ready to take a lot of that off of his plate. Because the last few years, you know, he's had a lot to do with the calls, you know, making sure everything's ran right. So I'm pretty excited for this year to take a little bit off of his plate and just kind of let him play ball and both of us open up a little bit. No. What's the what's the what's the learning curve like for you? Which would do with a new D coordinator? I mean, it's a lot. I mean, because I mean, we run a whole it's a whole different world now.
35:30You know, I'm saying we ran the same stuff for a long time in a sense. But it's I mean, I don't I don't I don't know per se. but what I'm going to say is it's going to be a difference in the actual, first it's going to be communication, and then it's going to be the assignments of what it is that you have to do and how those can flip with, y 'all have motion flips, right? Yes. Yes. Yeah, I mean, what's cool for me is, like PG, Patrick Graham, PG we call him, he likes to just have the pin in his hand the last, you know what I'm saying? Like he thinks he's able to not really determine what they're going to run, but if they're doing this and doing this, we're able to get to certain things to combat what they're trying to do, which I really like.
36:14And it's obviously a lot, you know, as the inside backers having to control everything, set the front and things like that. But I think once it really clicks, you're going to see us flying around, playing freely. Yeah, the understanding of what it is that you have to get accomplished, and especially the first thing is alignment assignment. You've got to get the guys in the right positions, the right calls, and then you've got to make the correct adjustments, especially you know when it comes time to motion you know dick laboe's defense was doing you need a year before you were able to really get into it and understand it just at your position and then once you get into it now you start learning the guys next to you and so on and so forth and right now what y 'all done got into is that big learning curve you just changed over something new it's new-ish but it's far more I would say complicated as far as communication and understanding because of the technicalities of his defense and how he runs it and then how he sees and relates it to who he's going against so it's not like i run this defense this is what i run no i run this defense and i run this defense because of how it is that they run their offense and i know what is going to be successful against them so you may have defenses is where I'm assuming you'll run for a majority of the part of this because of the personnel that you have or the alignment that they give you.
37:43One thing I'm starting to see kind of come together now that we're two and a half weeks into camp, like you just said, you know what you're supposed to do, but when you know what the person besides you, not even their assignment, but more so how they're going to play. I've been playing beside PQ for two years now, So, like, when we move to the ball, I know how he's going to shoot gaps. I know when or when he's not going to shoot gaps or when he's not going to jump routes. So, like, that's one thing that's cool for me over, like, especially this last week when we really started to gel. It's just to, like, kind of know what that guy is doing to you or even know, like, hey, what's the corner's responsibility?
38:18Try to make his responsibility a little easier in quarters and cover three and cover two, whatever we're doing. And then it kind of just opens you up in a sense to, like, all right, like, I don't memorize my stuff anymore. where I kind of understand why we do this and why we call this. So I'm really enjoying that part of the learning curve. Gotcha. So I said around this year. So this is what year for you in the league? Three. Three. So what parts has mainly started to slow down for you coming into this year in the league? I would say especially this year. I mean, y 'all know how it is. Like my rookie year, I came in and I was playing, and it was more so just about not making mistakes, which I hated.
38:57Like that's not how I've ever played. And then last year it kind of opened up a little bit. But this year, like, not that I'm going to make a ton of mistakes, but, like, you know, I'm playing ball. I'm playing to make plays. I'm not going to have that fear of, hey, if I do this, they might pull me out. Or if I do this, you know, I'm just going to be playing ball. And honestly, like, used to, I would line up, I would figure out my assignment, and I'd be in my gap, I'd do my thing. Now I line up, I get the call, see the formation, you know, knock certain variables out. and that's how I'm starting to play a lot faster.
39:29Well, you've got a better understanding of the defense. Trust me, when you already know what you're doing, you can start looking and seeing what's going on over here. And it's, I mean, I'm in a, I'm not an older, I'm in a veteran defense. Like, these guys are really smart. I mean, even, like, I mean, you know how it is. Definitely a lot of the times, maybe the guys in front of you don't know as much ball as, you know, the back end, the safeties and stuff. But, I mean, the guys we've got up front know just as much ball as the off-ball backers and as much as the safety. it's funny cam you know he didn't get on my nerves with it but like we'll like call the front he'll be turning around to make the check and i'm like just one second you know but but that's just how it is and it's really cool to play behind that and you know because then we're all on the same understanding of like like mike t said every meal is not a banquet you know if they know it's quick game get the hands up yeah that's why cam has more pvus than dvs most years so it's really cool to play with that that like i guess global knowledge like the whole defense yeah the whole defense is understanding it's really cool yeah yeah we um so as you're saying like you know he's he's looking back well you know when we came in he was a young guy and he has linebackers behind him that's you know been there for eight nine years and before he even get a thought of you know where he's they're telling him hey so he's you know he's sitting there like hey hey hey because he's feeling like the process isn't going as fast as he wanted to go and then you know you got to switch over and all that um i think i think once you guys actually get to where you get into game mode you get into game speed and now you have that communication with all the because i'm pretty sure they're having practice be super crazy with a whole bunch of emotions so you get dude i was so like confused and like i was out of it dude i would literally stop in the middle of the play like yo they start motioning no i'm dead Yeah, seriously, bro.
41:21Dick LeBow's defense was so crazy. I could go from a free blitzer, nothing, no responsibility, to man on number two solo by myself, like just from motion. And they made it complicated like that in practice to where they would just motion and motion so that you knew what you were doing. And so when we finally got into the games and I realized they weren't going to do that, I'm like, oh, shit. I need to sit down and understand what the hell is going on. I'm practicing for the craziest thing to happen. I'm practicing for the craziest thing to happen. So, yeah. And then we also have all these, like, I mean, everybody does now, every different personnel.
41:54So, like, every different play is base, is nickel, is dime. Like, everything's switching. So you kind of have to understand, like, your role is kind of changing dime, obviously, in base. There's five down. So everything just changes a little bit. But like you said, they make practice much harder than the game is. Yes. Yes. Yes. That's good. I like that. I like that he does that. What goals you got for 2026 for this year? For myself? For yourself, man. For yourself. We go self and then we go team. Man, I don't really love to throw stats at me. Not numbers. Okay. Man, I just want to be on the field every play of the defense.
42:28I want to help this team. And obviously, y 'all know, I mean, our goal here is to win a Super Bowl every year. Anything less is failure. It's failure. And, you know, I've known that for the last two years, and we obviously haven't got that accomplished. And, you know, it kind of hurts your soul a little bit when you have guys like Cam, TJ, Aaron now. You know, like, just, you know, the way we went out last year just kind of left the bad taste in our mouth. So I think, I mean, the goal here is always the Super Bowl. If it's not the Super Bowl, it's considered failure. And that's been established through generations now.
43:01Yes. That's really, I mean, it might sound cheesy, but that's really my only goal is to help this team just win the Super Bowl. Come on, B. Doh. Come on, B. Doh. It might sound important, but that's it. When you ball out and you do exactly what you got to do, that's what's going to happen. That's all there is. You know what I'm saying? Like, you want to be the best that you can be in numbers and everything. That's going to happen if you do your best. Yes, the numbers and the accolades come with it, dude. A thousand percent. And I would say it's really easy to play very hard for this team because when you watch the film, you see guys like Cam, a big man, running out of the stack every time.
43:31You know, you see the most profound veterans at their position maybe ever, you know, practicing with excellence, you know. So it's really easy to have that mindset around here. Yeah. Because, I mean, it's been established for Mike T. He had it going for 19 years. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You can take that all the way back to Ham and Lambert. You know what I'm saying? That's just what it is. When they talk about you and your career as a Pittsburgh stiller linebacker, what do you want them saying? My goal is to be the best. I want to be talked about as one of the best. Obviously, I mean, great teammate and all that, but I want my play to speak for itself.
44:14the way that I play, the effort that I play with, and the physicality that I play with, I just want it to speak for itself, and that's how I want to be remembered. Cool. Appreciate it, man. Keep flying around. Pete, I appreciate it, baby. Keep flying around, baby. We got a couple more coming through the slides with us right here, baby. Pleasure, bro. Hey, man, yes, sir. Thank you, man. Appreciate it. Look here, man. It's rapid fire. Give us a two. I'm looking at people so mean all the time. Hey, that's my natural look. I'm standing there like my... Well, it's that time again. Backpacks, first day of school outfits, and the low-key anxiety of, am I even doing this right?

I learned about some rad science.
46:01I can make a brain for you and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain. That's incredible. As opposed to his brain. Here are some hard truths.

48:57We got money sitting out there right now, man. Y 'all know who I'm talking about when I say we got money sitting out there right now. Who we talking about? You talking about her. Oh, Lord, we got money sitting out there right now, man. He don't even know how it go, man. I'm trying to tell you, man, when you first come in and you get paid like this, it's a thing that you do in the NFL. No. Yes. Huh? You trying to steal his money, D-Bow. I ain't trying to steal it. I'm trying to give him something. Oh, no, I ain't saying that. I ain't saying that. I ain't saying that. I ain't saying that. I didn't say nothing, bro.
49:32Yes, boy. Her big. Nick Herbert. Big Pox. Big Herbert. Big Pox. Big Pox. My dog. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. How you doing, brother? I'm great. Life is good, brother. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Always. Always. Always. Always good, man. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Happy to have you on the show with us, brother Nick. I'm happy to be here. I'm honored. First time. Look here, man. We were trying to get you earlier, but, you know, some people be ducking and dodging. Anyway, go ahead, man. How you feeling about this season, though, brother? I feel good. I think it's different, for sure, as we all know. Different vibes, different, you know, atmosphere.
50:09But I definitely like the way we're trending right now, going in the right direction. I think everything's a lot, you know, organized, and guys are starting to buy in to McCarthy and what his vision is for us. And, you know, I'm excited to get out there. Definitely. Yeah, definitely. Hey man, tell Joe how you set your, was it your brother that you set up over there at the North Hills game or that North Allegheny game? When you had him, who was it? He had, I think it was his brother or his cousin, somebody come over and ask me a question or something. Herbert did? I think it was Herbert. No, yeah it was.
50:42Was it me? No, I don't say it. No, no, no, no. Maybe it was, I don't say it. I'm thinking, I can't think of his name right now. What's the only one that looks just like him? A soy? No, no, no. Damn. Is that ugly though? No, you're not, bro. I don't know who these both talk about. I don't know who these both talk about.
51:03No, I'm talking shit. Bro, bro. I'm sorry my boys. Look here, man. What is your goal coming out of this? We're asking everybody the same thing, and we're kind of getting the same answer. Yeah. I'm loving it. Super Bowl. I ain't got to ask you. Crack. Everybody saying the same thing. Y 'all hear what it is? Everybody saying the same thing. City of Champions. Man, but I feel like it's like, like I'm trying to win that joint for like Cam and TJ. Yeah. And Aaron and like all the old heads. Like, you know, that time, you know that football life. Yeah. It's a shelf. So there's only a finite amount of time you get to do that.
51:39And I'm still young, but especially all the old heads, like trying to get it for those guys. Aaron already got one, man. But look, for Cam, for TJ. Cam, TJ, Ramsey. Yeah. Like, I feel like you all got the squad to do it. Yeah, we definitely do. Look, what's the first thing you bought? First thing I bought, I mean, like, besides, like, paying off my mom and dad's houses and all that. You bought. You. What I bought for me? A set of clubs. Unnecessary money. A set of gold clubs. No, no, no, no. Tyler's T250s, dog. Joe, what did you get? In a lab putter. What did you get with your money, Joe? What did you get with your money, Joe?
52:16When you got paid, Joe? When you came in. Got me a little whip. Got me a little whip. No, no, no. What kind of whip it was? Bentley. Little Bentley Coop. Little Bentley Coop. Nothing crazy. You ain't do nothing like that. Bentley Coop. No, nothing crazy. I appreciate you. I appreciate you staying grounded. Yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying? I had to get him a set of clubs, though. Come on. What kind? I love golf. He just said it. T-250. T-250. Okay. Okay. What is that? Like 15. 15. Okay. Not as good as you. I'm a 12, D-Bo. So there you go. You was acting like, yeah, you was very like, oh, he whooping your way?
52:46We're going to have to get out there. We're going to have to get up there. Yeah, for sure, for sure. We're going to vlog it, too. A thousand percent. Listen, I ain't going with you. Where you play out here? Anywhere, for real. But I just, I'm thinking about joining a spot or something. Yeah, no, you got to get to a little club out here, man. That's some great golf. You going to join a country club or something? Yes. Yeah, you going to get a little benefits? I'm not a country club ass dude, though, but it's like, I'm a golfer, bro. If you're a golfer, you understand. You get it. Deebo, you're not a golfer.
53:14Don't country club cost money? Well, see, though, you're always bringing up money. Don't worry about that. He's good. He's good out here. You know they don't want some money. See, but instead of getting a... A lot of... They don't want money just to beat. Instead of a Bentley Coupe, I'm going to be a golf player. Boom. It's going to cost you damn near a Bentley Coupe, too. It's going to cost you a coupe. Nah. Nah. Get the Steeler discount. Question. Who is your five hardest running backs to tackle? Five hardest running backs. Yeah. I mean, Jalen Warren got to be up there. I mean, I never went against him in the game, but, like, practice or whatever it is.
53:50You know what it is. I mean, you see it on film, too. Yes. That dude's a dog. I got to give Nick Chubb some love. Yes, yes. That dude was a monster, bro. Like, playing him, especially rookie year. Yeah, yeah. Nick Chubb, man, he was a problem. Like, Christian McCaffrey, like, once you got him, he wasn't really, but, like, he was just so. To get to him. Yeah, like elusive. Yeah. And he got, like, good contact balance. Like, you hit him and he knows how to spin off. Yeah. Ooh. Yeah, Derrick Henry for sure, too. He's a big-ass dude. Yeah. He's hit him low. Nah, I ain't going to lie. I want to hit that high.
54:26See, I'm going to— Like, back then, I'm going— I'm going for the ball. Thirst. You're going for the— You're punching the rock out, huh? Yeah. You're punching the rock out. Y 'all ball searching. Punching the rock out. Them boys, I'm cutting his legs out. I'm trying to see if one of us can go to sleep. I actually feel like I, like, on the edge anyway, like it's more quarterbacks than running backs. They got to tackle. Yeah. Nah, dude. I played outside. I had a couple years where I had 100 plus tackles. Like, you get in there, you get to go ahead and put that fire on. That was back in life. Yeah, they was stoned in.
55:00They were stoned in 15 times. They were running in 40. Now it's opposite. They were running five, 10 times. Ravens don't run in 40. but they got they got two running backs basically too like lamar is like both he a quarterback and a running back yeah he different yeah he real he real different but i think that's why we have a lot of success with him is that he is that much difference and they rely on him being able to run it and as long as we're able to go out there and stay got sound and wrap up keep him yeah like bro he's don't run past the quarterback if you hesitate for like a second, dog, I was touching the ground.
55:38That's what I'm saying. He's real twitchy. Yeah. No, he got my respect for sure. Yes. Man. Look here. Who is the hardest tackle to get around? The hardest tackle to get around. And then, who is the toughest run blocking tackle? I mean, bro, Lane Johnson was, he's a monster. Like, if he grabs you, his underhooks are crazy. Obviously, Trent. But I think more like a low-key guy. My rookie here was Michael Wenohu from the Patriots. He was playing guard, but then they had moved him to tackle. But he just had, like, a weird, like, he didn't have a tackle body type. Yeah. So he wasn't as tall and, like, his arms weren't as long.
56:26But it was, like, it was just weird getting around him, bro. Like, he just had something weird to him that was just different. But, yeah, I think Lane for sure, run and pass. Yeah. Sweet. My brother, I appreciate you, man. Oh, we got more out there. Yes, sir, man. I appreciate you coming through, baby. Man, Nick. My dog. Thaw it up. Ball out this year, my brother. Herbic, big pockets. Herbic throw it up. Big pockets. Double up, y 'all. Double up. Oh, yeah. We got both of them there. Double them up right there. Uh-huh. Yeah. Appreciate you, my brother. Mucho, mucho. Appreciate you, Herbic. Uh-huh.
57:01Rico, Jay-Len, let's go. Look here. We got Rico Doddle. We got Rico Doddle. We got Jalen Warren. Jalen Warren. They coming through. Thunder, Lightning, Tote, Tote. Tote, Tote. I'm going to talk to you about that Thunder and Lightning, man. See you look. I think they gave this other name. We're going to give Thunder, Thunder, Thunder, Lightning. I don't know who going to give what. Because I've seen them both. Both of them. Thunder and somebody. I've seen them both get some Thunder. Both of them fire. You know what I'm saying? Both of them fire. That's just what it come down to. I'm saying. Because Jalen, undrafted.
57:36Undrafted. Baller. Undrafted. I like that undrafted thing, man. You know what I'm saying? I was undrafted myself, Joe. Both of them are undrafted. You know what I'm saying? What's going on, man? How you doing, man? Let's go, baby. Let's go. Let's talk about this. Pleasure, pleasure, brother. How you doing, boy? Go ahead, y 'all. Go ahead, sit on down. Take care of the man. Backfield in the building now. Backfield in the building. Yes, sir. Ol' Rico over here. Jalen over here. Let's get it cracking and see what we got like look here, man. Oh Time no, hey man. I know it's well, man. Listen, don't worry about me.
58:10Hey, how y 'all? How y 'all like the new the new changes that Mike McCarthy came in with as far as the offense and with the new OC Brian and Angelique and Angelico Angelico Angelico. I got it right. How you like it? I like it. Yeah, it's a it's different, but it's a little similar at the same time Obviously the culture is the same. We want to run the ball, you know, that make them feel it mentality. So I'm all about that. Yeah, it's good. Not much change. For me, I think I was obviously with him five years in Dallas. That's awesome. A lot of similarities from when I was there. Just a new terminology, really.
58:50But, you know, a scheme I'm comfortable in and used to. So definitely. And you was an undrafted running back. So just thinking about, you see, you got your deal. Both of my dudes undrafted, burned the backs. The only person in here drafted was you. Oh, shit. I don't know. Okay. But we all made it to the same spot. We just let you know. Do you still have that chip on your shoulder still for that drive today? For sure. For sure. I don't think it'll ever go away. You know, I play the game of football because I love football. And I love hitting all that, obviously. But, yeah, I'm always having that with me.
59:25Same. Yeah, for sure. The same. I think every time I step out there, like I'm playing with a point to prove. Like you said, it just came with being undrafted and having to earn my spot each and every year on the team. So, improve it to the coaches. So, every time I'm out there, it's like I got a point to prove to everybody. Look here, man, being an undrafted guy. What is that situation or scenario, I should say? I know for me it was I sat behind the dude that I was better than I knew I was better than they knew that I was better than but if they if he was dressed they started and if he wasn't he didn't play I played all the special teams I sat behind this cat for almost three years that's what like I go back to that in my head every time I get into training camp every time I come into a season is that That whole situation, that scenario.
1:00:17And you know what's so crazy? I don't know how y 'all do it, but what I do is, I hype myself to think like, I don't give a damn if they drafted a dude to bring somebody in. They brought him in because they said I'm sucked. And that's what I used in my psyche to get me to have that, keep that chip on my shoulder, I should say. You have any scenario, situation where you go back to and you think about where you like, you know what, That right there is what's going to keep me motivated. It's going to keep that chip on my shoulder. It's going to keep me driven. Yeah, I'd say a lot of similar stories for real, honestly.
1:00:56Obviously, I was playing behind Zeke and TP my first couple years, two great running backs. But I always thought I could be out there doing it, just going through practices and stuff. And then just over the years, you see them keep bringing a new guy in. It's a revolving door. They're bringing a new guy in. I have to keep, like I said, proving myself each and every year. and then I got put on the IR one year and then the next year it was like, okay, he's fighting for the three spot again. Ended up being the two that year. And then, so yeah, similar stories though. Them just keep them saying, bringing guys in and me just keep beating them out.
1:01:28Straight up. Yeah, yeah, boy. You don't know about that, Joe. You got that first round, man. No, man. They came in, they just gave you a tie. I still was grinding, bro. I know what the grind was like. He had the chip on your shoulder. He had the chip on the shoulder. I wanted to prove that I was worth the first round pick. He got the tip on his shoulder after they started gassing. Y 'all ain't fucked up the pit. You know what I'm saying? When he first came in, Josh Cribs told us about it. They was fine. They were bombs over Baghdad on his head. Yeah, they was. Rookie training camp was a little tough.
1:01:56What was y 'all, this might be back in the day, but what was your welcome to the NFL moment, or did you ever have one? Mine was like, it was literally the first preseason game I ever played in. It was Seattle. I got a check down, and I broke a tackle, but I was running. I was running straight and the safety came and hit my shoulder. On film it don't look bad, but I felt that. And I'm like, that's how they hitting in the field? I was like, damn. I was like, it's a whole different ball game. But, you know. I got up and I was like, oh, that shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got to gas up. Yeah, yeah. What about you, Rick?
1:02:29Mine, I didn't even play my first offense snap until my fourth year. So mine, I think, yeah, I didn't play offense until my fourth year. But mine, so it was special teams. I was 4 '4. It was onside kick versus the Ravens. You know, they like big guys out there. I still remember, I think he was number 99. He hit me with the, we was kicking it. No, we was protecting him. We had to protect the front line. And he hit me. It felt like my back was this way, hips was this way. I ain't walked probably like two days. But yeah, that was mine for sure. Oh, man, yeah. I did, it was an onside kick. I don't know where it was.
1:03:04I can't remember where it was at. But when they hit me, I fell like straight on my butt, like straight down on my butt, double and going to hernia surgery after the season. Who hit you? I don't know what they did. You know who hit you? I don't know who. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It wasn't even like that. It was the fact that I hit my butt. Like I literally landed like just, I don't know what I was thinking. Like it was young. I was rookie. You got to put on your ass, Debo. Bruh. That's crazy. It was two of them though. You know how they do the double up? Debo was coming and you're supposed to, and I was, I ain't pick one.
1:03:38But if I had picked one, they might have got the ball. That's what you got to do. You got to pick one. Yeah, I said, I don't want to be on the front line no more. That's a wild line. But my welcome to the NFL moment, you know what it was? Practice. Who? It was the tackle. I don't even remember what the tackle name was, bro. And it wasn't that somebody hit me, because I was pretty good with the hitting thing. It was the speed. Bruner went down. You know how you see the down around block? Yeah. Tight end went down. And normally when I see that, it's like easy. I go, step up, and I, you know, go to the tackle.
1:04:10Yeah. Man, by the time I looked up, my tackle was right here. He had me hooked. I swear. It was like this, and then I looked up, and he was already here. Yeah, bruh. I was like, the speed of this game is different. Did he hit you? No, bruh. He just cut me. I couldn't get no, bruh, and I couldn't move. Like, I couldn't. It was nothing I could do. I was stuck. Strong. Strong man. Bruh, no. He was fast. His speed. It was too fast. Question, brother. How has it been like now going with Aaron Rodgers, knowing that this is going to be his last year playing with him this year? Has he been in, like, just trying to figure out, like, meetings and trying to get plays and stuff, trying to make sure everybody's on the same page?
1:04:50Yeah, I mean, yeah, he'll, if he feels like there's any lack anywhere, he'll definitely get a result that's, you know, on his timing, which is usually urgent. But it's good. Like, I don't feel, I don't feel like there's any, like, he'd act in any kind of different like he's still approaching it like uh you know he's still still trying to win the super bowl like he ain't acting like over overreacting over anything but he just playing ball yeah that's good stuff yeah for me it's just been nice obviously just my first year with him it's been nice getting out there uh with him you know hall of fame quarterback great um i'm just amazed by how smart he is that's what stand out that's what i was gonna ask looking forward to getting out there is it is it anything that uh you have uh gotten from him uh you know little nuggets as i like to say here and there that he said hey you know do this or that and you know it's things where you like you know what i did it and now i'm looking back and you know you know what if i had been doing that sooner i could have had you know maybe more yardage from this or or you know had more success um i wouldn't say uh that usually when he tell you to do something uh Ten out of ten times he write about what he wants you to do.
1:06:02I'm dead serious. I've never seen nothing like this before. But, yeah, so usually when he give you a cue, something to do, he write about. And it's going to work for the best of the team. So I'm definitely looking forward to getting out there. Okay. I feel like it's his running back. As long as you communicate with him before the play, you can never be wrong. That's, like, a big thing for us in running back. So how many times when you're out there, may he change or communicate something to you that wasn't exactly as the play had been drawn out, I'll say? He'll just say, like, it'll be a play call.
1:06:41Then he'll look and he'll be like, do this. Like, he'll really tell you what to do. Sometimes there'll be a term, you'll, wait, what is that? And just do that. and yeah it's right on the down he'll say flex out i know y 'all well i'm hearing from a couple other guys that y 'all go to his crib on like tuesdays off day or something like that yeah and uh y 'all do some film field communication all that other stuff uh how much of that has actually like helped to get that that communication or or that unspoken communication as i've been asking other guys like how much of that has been uh helpful i should say it was very helpful because it gets you know everybody everybody shows up um you know we whatever but we just creating that chemistry within each other you know everybody getting the same uh verbiage yes like yeah everybody on the same page yeah yeah so even if it's not something that y 'all may have necessarily heard at practice he's like yeah this is what we're gonna call this like i've seen it i see this right you see this right here i know what they about to do yeah i'm gonna say this you block Stop this, go that.
1:07:46Okay, facts. Yeah, I like it. I like it, I love it. Man, we said to the goal this year, Super Bowl? Yes. Stop, you ain't supposed to ask him. Oh. Indubitably. My bad. What's the goal for this season? Super Bowl. Okay. You said it. Hey, what's your goal for this season? Personal? What's your goal for this period? Goal period. I tried to slip him up, I tried, I swear I did. I'm with the personal too. I'm loving it. Because if you do personally good, brother, We're going to win. We're going to win. If you do good, you get to the Super Bowl, you win the Super Bowl, you didn't get there by mistake.
1:08:21All the stuff that comes with winning the Super Bowl, the accolades, the numbers, all that is going to come with it. And I don't think a lot of guys realize, a lot of guys going to this season focused on, I want to get this number, I want to get that number, I want to do this. No, what we want to do is we want to win the Super Bowl. When you win the Super Bowl, everybody gets. Ain't no way we was getting to the Super Bowl we wasn't eating. Yeah. So, yeah. No question about it, bro. I'm playing on it. Y 'all boys gonna eat. My man, appreciate you, brother. Yes, sir, man. Thank you so much for coming up.
