In short

A Steelers vs. Bengals game recap/discussion focused on early offensive success led by Aaron Rodgers and Jalen Warren, plus Steelers defensive breakdowns in zone concepts and end-zone coverage, ending with a Steelers win (final mentioned: 38-27) after a late fumble recovery.

Guests

The episode is hosted by James “Deebo” Harrison with co-host Joe Hayden. No additional guest names appear in the provided transcript.

Guest backgrounds

Not specified in the transcript beyond their roles as hosts and their football commentary perspectives (Deebo and Joe discuss their teams, schemes, and player performances).

Key claims

Steelers “fixed” the offense by changing the right side/line and emphasizing run game and play-action; Bengals exploited Steelers zone “dig”/“bite the cheese” tendencies; key self-inflicted issues included dropped passes and mismanagement/penalties; defensive communication failures led to big plays (including a back-shoulder Chase matchup and an end-zone TD).

Notable examples

Rodgers-to-DK touchdown; multiple Jalen Warren runs (including a long run); Bengals drives featuring Joe Burrow to Ja’Marr Chase and T.J. Hockenson (Gisicki mentioned); a late Steelers fumble recovery to seal it.

5:10Welcome back to this episode of Deebo and Joe. I'm your host, James Deebo Harrison, and I'm here with my co-host, Joe Hayden. Hey, please make sure you like, subscribe, and download where you get your show. How you doing today, Joe? Deebo, I'm doing extraordinary. Extraordinary. This is what happens when you have, this is what a great weekend feels like. How your weekend go, Joe? Tell me how it started. It started off on Saturday with my Florida Gators doing what they're supposed to do, looking like national champions and tender Gators, looking like the Gators of 08. OK, that's what happened first.

5:56And then my Cleveland Browns, my Cleveland Browns on Saturday, my flag football Cleveland Browns. We go out there and put belt 28 to 0. My boys wristbands and all locked in, completely locked in. And then we go to Sunday. The Lord's Day. I go to church. Have a blessed day, my dad. You know what I'm saying? Thank you, Lord, for doing that. Master's Child. Went out to the Master's Child Sunday morning. You know what I'm saying? 8.30 service. Was back to the crib. Watching both games. Same time. I'm watching both of my teams. Go to work, Debo. I was... My heart was filled. My heart was filled. Yes.

6:35How was your weekend? You know, it... My weekend... My weekend was good, man. You know, it's really, if I have to say, I mean, that's why I'm not too excited. There's nothing more than what I expected. You know, a victorious Sunday, of course, for my still. Okay, yes, of course. As you expected. Yeah, you know, that's what I expected. Yes, yes, yes. There's bangos this, bangos that. People stressing about offense this, offense that. Yes. What are we talking about? Listen, we need time together. We need love. It's the first quarter. The season is in quarters. Four games is the first quarter of the season.

7:19You ain't even, you're getting your feet wet. We ain't even finished the first quarter. We ain't finished yet, Joe. We ain't finished yet. Nobody's finished. This is what they got to understand, Joe. We went on ahead and we got out there and we said, hey, we're going to fix this line. So Mike said, hey, he was going to fix this line. He said, go ahead. He's going to condense this thing down. He's going to do what he's got to do. And you say, you know what? It's time to put the guys in there that we got there that we feel I can get it done. So we changed the whole right. Max in. Cook out. Ihan Ashore.

7:53He went out there. Brock in. Brock in. Spencer Anderson out. Switch out the right side. Let's just do that first. switch out the right side, Joe. Let's just do that first. Coin toss. Give us the ball. Let's take that pill. Give us the ball, Joe. Give us the ball, Joe. You know I was sitting there up there in the stands, Joe. You was in the building. Obviously. Obviously. Hey, first down, Rodgers went on ahead and just did a little dump. Little dump right there. Little dump right there. What my guy do? What my guy telling me what I do? Hey. Did you see Firemove? Did you see Firemove? You see Firemove going, what was it, six?

8:37And Jumpey? Come on, man. Height. That's what you... Treat him like a redhead stepchild. Come on, like he stole something. Hey, beat him. Beat him bad. Boy, I didn't even know if he wanted to get up. I ain't going to even lie to you, Joe. I ain't going to lie to you. Next play, we going to hit Wilson real quick. Quick game. We going to go ahead and get that quick game pass. You know what I'm saying? Let him know. Hey, it ain't going to hold. I'm loving the pace. You need something to switch up. I'm loving the bass. Second down. You know, my God, Rogers, he got to throw it away. I ain't tripping on that.

9:11I ain't tripping on that. Third down. That boy named me again. That boy Ron Wilson? Brody, that's how you set it up. 38. He did a little walk-off release. So when you back up and you do a walk-off release, he's expecting you to do a short route. No, sir. I'm going to walk off at least, and I'm taking it deep. Taking it deep. Joe lofted up to a 38-yard touchdown, okay? All that streak of Pittsburgh ain't scored. This ain't did that. Cut it. Cut it. 7-0. 7-0, Joe. Yes, Debo. Yes. We is they, and when they talking about who they. I've been telling these boys, I've been saying we they since they started that who they.

9:56Bull freak rack. I ain't going to curse because I ain't even upset. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's a long game. Cincinnati, they get up on out there, man. First down, bro. He throw a little quick one over there. And my boy, Brisker, said, wrap you up. No go nowhere. No go nowhere. You no go nowhere. But the second down, they hand that ball over the front. Oh, there's nobody there. 12 on us. I don't know, like, what happened there. I think Queen might have got out the box too far on that. And instead of him filling in right there, because they already had P-Dub over here. So when he tried to slide off of that, I think that's where Queen should have been there to fill that thing in.

10:43I ain't tripping, though. I ain't tripping. Because we was outnumbered anyway. I knew what was going to happen as soon as he started drifting out that box. I'm like, yo, they're about to burn this rock. We're outnumbered if he don't get back in there. I ain't tripping. I ain't tripping. They gave him a first down. And then Jalen Ramsey, he comes in there. I love that. Put his helmet on. He's attacking the line. I love that. Tackle for a loss, Joe. Second down. This man Burrow, he was getting a little bit on my nerves because I think it was like nine he got chased for. Like, Joe, was that man what was going on?

11:17That zone. They find the holes in the zone. We was running a lot of zones. Why did he switch, though? I don't know. He tried to get through. and Jalen went with the other cat. Yeah, it was on. It was on. For sure. I know what you're saying. But we got to be able... Our zones, when there's nobody in you, you turn into man. You know what I'm saying? If you're just floating in the zone and you see there's space, people are... If somebody's there, you got to start matching the zones. That happened a couple of times. I could show you with the high lows, with those digs that we're running with our outside linebacker situation in the corners.

11:49It's a two for two. If he comes up and the outside linebacker is going to take the short one, that means DB corner. You got to undercut the dig because you just can't be standing out there in the flats. Two people for two people. You know what I'm saying? It's a zone, but it has man concepts. Zone for a second. This person's right. That's what I was thinking. You know what I'm saying? I'm looking like, yo, if you got a man concept on that, shouldn't you play that one a little tighter? Tighter. You should be backed off like 10, 12 yards like that. Anyway, man, they get to a third and two. And Burrow, what is it?

12:17Myers for like 23, 22, something like that, dude. First down. we hold Brown to like maybe two yards or something like that. Second down Burrell hits this man Higgins for 10 in the first down. Then a false start okay Burrell turns around and hits what is it? Hudson and Chase on back to back plays ended up putting them at what third and two right there? Yo, I thought that dude wasn't even there no more. What's his name? Puren? Yep. He went for five. Quick hot five Why did we, bro, we had five DBs out there on that play. And they had like, they had at least one or two tight ends, didn't they? Like you got a DB that he got to step up in there and get to that.

13:06Like he got to actually fill in. Hell, and even on the one that we're talking about right now, he was like eight yards deep, bro. like he got to come down from eight and fill in right there into the into the tackle in between the tackles like I don't know if you could be that dude and do that they get to the first and go to the three and then you know and now on this too you can't Asante Samuel Jr. my mans we can't backpedal we can't move you have to plant your feet soon as he was right there at the end zone soon as you back up one step in the end zone you have to make him go over top of you. You can't plant your feet down when you're undercutting everything.

13:48Because once you're in the end zone, it's not a catch and tackle. A catch and tackle is a touchdown. So, soon as he hop back, keep your feet planted. You have to have your heels on the end zone. And there's nothing that's taking you backwards but that wide receiver. You're starting to turn underneath of him. He can't be between you because that's a touchdown. So, you have to. Soon you back up, it's Tutty. Tuddy, listen here, man. Get the ball back, though. Hey, first down. Rodgers said, man, DK, we got to get him in the game, man. You get a hot 11 right there, man. They dropped Jalen. What, a loss of one on the next thing.

14:23And then it's the incompletion. Third and 11. Who Rodgers hit? Hey, man, what was Wilson doing, man? What was Wilson doing? 17. He went on ahead and sat down there for 17. First down. they go ahead hand that ball off to Jalen. He said, I'm going to get 13. And when I get done with it, I'm going to fire off on six again. Fire off on this punk ass again. Came to play football. Well, you better get ready to tap it. Offense was bringing physicality. They was blocking. Everybody was blocking. Yes, sir. First down, Rodgers, he avoided a sack. I think, what was it? was it Wilson a little while later that he had, he just, he just missed.

15:09It was a little off on that, on that, when he shook that sack. I think, I still, I don't know. I think he might've, it was a little off. It was off. He had a couple passes like that. That one I didn't have in the bag as one of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I didn't, I didn't have it in the bag as one of them, but I just, I just felt like, I don't know, maybe if he had kept moving that way. You know, you're trying to coach on a Monday. You know what I'm saying? Second down, Rodgers hit Mount Washington. 11. They having trouble. Everybody. If you can get him the ball a little bit early enough to where he could turn and look and see who's coming, it's a wrap.

15:49Because they scared of him, D-Bow. No, he didn't even see. They're scared. He didn't even see, bro. I know. For sure, he's trying up to him. Bam. And it slipped all the way down to his leg and fell off. I'm like, damn. Damn. Hey, Joe, that's that time where you got to be like, hey, you got to make a business decision. Man, bro, you got to come down there and just, you got to hog tie them legs, bro. You got to. You got to wrap them up and roll. You got to. Or you're going to be embarrassed. You're going to get bounced off. Ricochet. You're going to get bounced off, brother. Next play, Warren, he goes for a hot little fall.

16:23We get nothing on the second. Third and six. Rogers hits Pinsley. Good catch. Shit. Down. No. Hey, man, I don't even know the boy's name, Ben Scoron. That's what happens. That's what happens when your Jalen Warren is running the ball like this. You insert, you lose him bad eyes. They trying to crack for places, DBs. It's a... Warning. 19:54Ask play. He's saying, when did they get a run game? What's going on? We fixing stuff. 23-yard touchdown, Joe. Yes, sir. 14-7, Joe. First two drives on offense. TDs. TDs. First two drives. TDs. Touchdown, touchdown. Cincinnati get back out there. That man, Jalen Ramsey. He's attacking the line of scrimmage. Coming down there. Coming down there. and then second down, Earl, here's Chase for 12 in the first round. How are we just letting these people get into these open areas, just not doing that? These are, when I'm trying to tell you, I respect the fact that we're running zone because we don't want to leave our DBs out there just playing man versus these guys.

20:42But now you have to understand, linebackers and secondary, we have to start route reading and understand they're running digs. You can't keep going up. There's bang eights, there's digs. Stop. there's spaces that they're going to throw the ball to that you have to start matching because these are what they're running. They keep running the same damn routes. I'm like, linebacker, either you're going to fall back off of it or you're going to let the corner, you're going to stay short and let the corner undercut that and go get a pick because these are just, they keep happening. And it's the same thing because I see when we're there, it's the outside linebacker in the corners.

21:15And now it's either, if you're going to take the cheese, it's called biting the cheese. You keep coming up to the cheese and the dig is right behind your head. deep to short. We let them hit that cheese and you come up and make a tackle. Because in zones, there are obviously going to be spaces that are going to be open. So let that one be in the front, that short one, boom, we're catching tackle. Everybody has eyes on the ball. Yeah, man. They pick up about seven yards on the first two plays. It's third and three and Burrow hits Chase again for another first time. Yes, brother. It's second and ten and Burrow hits, what's the dude's name, Gisicki.

21:54Gisicki? For six. Gisicki. Gisicki for six. We fired him. Oh, man. Hey. I like that. Three, three. All three. Bum, bum, bum. I know. But he did come back, though. I mean, it would have been better if we, you know, he had to sit out just for the rest of the game. For sure. Could have came back. Yeah, they woozied him up a little bit. Yeah, we ended up getting him to what, like a third and 10? Third nine. 39, something like that. Because they ended up getting their legal formation. We hold them. Field goal. They kick a field goal. 10 to 14. I ain't tripping, but I'm tripping. First down, we get back out there.

22:32That man warranted that thing. Oh, 35.

22:38Nate Blake. Hey, ego 11. But we got to hold on DK. Now, it comes back. It's first to 17. I don't think that was a hold, bro. Me either. I don't think that was a hole. I know a hole when I see one, I understand, you know, but that wasn't close to a hole. First to 17, I think Rodgers ended up hitting Washington for a hot and a little nine or something like that. We're going to false start, end up getting to third. Well, that was Michael Pittman on the motion. Yeah, man. And then we got to settle. We got to settle for a field goal. 17 to 10, brother. Oh, no, but on that drive too, That's the one when we missed DK.

23:19That's one A-Rod had on something. A-Rod, don't. That just floated up in the air. He's wide open. It's too much of a bullet. Like, A-Rod. It wasn't even a bullet. He just threw it too far to the right, man. I understand that, but I'm still saying. I'm still saying, but that one, it's just. Like, there's no. Just, bing. Just floated up in the air so he can go out there and get it. You know what I'm saying? Like, that was the one on that drive. Yeah. All right. We'll get a field goal out of it, man. 17 to 10. Cincinnati get back out there. Brown hits us for eight. Second down, I think Burrow hits Myers.

23:53He picks up two in the first down. And then it was a nice, nice breakup by 22. And then another one by 23. The defense finally holds up. They got to point the rock out. Okay. We get out there. First down. Rodgers goes to Frye. Move for a hot eight. Third and one. We get what we want, but we get offsetting penalties, pass interference callback. We got to sit back, try it all over again. And then we get a – first down, Rodgers goes to – what that boy name is again? Fry-Mu. Fry-Mu. Fry-Mu. Bangles holding the zone. They going the wrong way. Rolling away from him. What is they doing? I don't know what they doing.

24:41I ain't tripped. They the bangles. They go bump. You feel me? that's what they do we know what they gonna do man and then they go ahead and they second and ten they they they sack my man but but Joe what happened they had a they had a holding they had a holding on the defense they gave us an automatic first and ten second and ten let's get to it let's get to it drops my man A-Rod had Straight through his hands. Two picks on the season with really no picks on the season. Those hit both of the receivers in the hands. We got to just catch the ball right here. Like, that's self-inflicted wounds. Come on.

25:26Defense got you to rock back. We're trying to get down and we're trying to get some points on the board. Somehow we're going to score. Field goal at worst. Right. Field goal at worst. Tip pick. Cincinnati get out there. Burrell, Brown, 12 yards right there. And then Burrell to chase. Yes. 31. They handed to Brown. He get the hot little foe in the first down. And then, bruh, how in the freak did you get that far behind this man? I know. I know. You got it right there. Asante Samuel, my man, you got to be aware. You know it's man-to-man. It's fade ball. You're playing a man turn. You should be in this position.

Read the full transcript

26:10you know it's zone turn. You should be literally looking at the quarterback, knowing that he's running up. Like, you're defending the end zone. There's nothing that he can do. Joe Burrow, soon as he got that ball, he took one step, looked over there, and just floated. So I'm like, now, Asante, you don't even know the ball's coming your way. Right now, as a DB, you should be in position now. You're literally about to, you could have high-pointed the ball because he didn't even know. Higgins is running. He's trying to run and get you to look inside and then kind of stem you to bend it back. That's what he's doing.

26:40and you're just like going, you know it's a deep ball. You got to have your eyes back to the quarterback looking at this, knowing, okay, boom. Because you could have been able to come back, make a pick, high point the ball, it would have been nothing. Yes. Because he was looking dead at you. In the first three steps, you looking back, you reading three, you see the quarterback looking right at you throwing the ball. Higgins is trying to stem you just to set you up. You'll see the ball coming before. Don't worry about what he's doing. You know what I'm saying? We're guarding the end zone, post, anything.

27:07You can be able to make a play. You're behind them, got in that position. That's one-on-one. That's a play. You have to make that. You have to make that. That man catches it with one hand, bro. It didn't even matter at all. Because they would have got us with a P.I. if he hadn't caught it anyway. It's 17, 17, 17. Rodgers get out there. He do a little scramble, I think, for like 10 or 12, something like that. We in the half with a Hail Mary. That's what the part two, but look, Debo, we was wasting all of our timeouts. We was missing like mismanagement of the clock. So that's why we had to try to run the hell.

27:40Yeah, we had to. I don't know. Instead of getting the fifth. Yeah, it was either. We had to use them. We better do that. We couldn't take that. Yeah. Facts. We couldn't take that. So really what you got there is shit. Hell, a 10-point turnaround. We lose three and they pick up seven. They come out and they start the third quarter. First down. Brown for six. Again, Brown for 13. They get a false start. It's first and 15. High low. That's the high low. I'm literally telling you, Deebo. Now we have Everett out there, and he's working with Herbic. Them dudes, Herbic's on the low. And we're like, no, I've been in that same position where, guys, it's two people.

28:17We're in zone. But if you're going to take that, Herbic, you got to either fall back and the corner come in, or you stay there, and the corner undercuts that dig. There's two for two. We got to get these two people in the zone. Yeah, they pick up, I think it was like 14 there. The next play, that man, Burrow scramed wild. Oh, yeah, he was pissing me off with the scramble. the first time. Bruh. When he started doing that? Yeah, man. Hit him.

28:44Man, we, we, they get a first down. We, we ended up getting them to a fourth and two or something like that, bro. Yes, sir. And they go for it. Man-to-man, one-on-one. Back shoulder fade. That's Jamar Chase versus your corner. That's where it's like, look. I ain't gonna lie. I mean, ain't nothing he can do on that. That's man-to-man, one-on-one. And that's just, I'm gonna throw it to my guy versus your guy, single coverage. He instantly took him, and he was a little bit past. So Asante's running to get back in phase. That's a ball. To get back up top. He just stopped on the dime on you. Boom. Like, you're hit.

29:17You're hit. That's like routes on air for Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow. You got to press inside. He outside released you, basically taking you up top. It's like over or behind. He just threw it behind because he knew he's running for his life to get on top. Soon as this. As soon as he saw that he was striking down, that head drop down, he was like, yeah, back shoulder. Because Jamal looked. 21 yards right there. It's a first down. Somehow we able to hold him because of the false start. Then I think we had a nice little breakup right there. I think it was on like third down or something like that.

29:49Yes. Got our hands on there. Right there sitting on that hitch for Higgins. Yeah, yeah. We got our hands on that. We ended up being able to hold him to a field goal. Now it's 20 to 17 now. Yes. but we got an offense now, Joe. D-Bo, D-Bo. Joe. Yes. Yes, we do. I ain't tripping. Come on. Come on, man. Y 'all came in there and thought that we wasn't going to fix this. Y 'all thought that this wasn't going to get fixed. Stop playing. It's too early for that. That's what I always said. It's too early for that. We had too much going on for these boys. We got to condense this thing down. They said we're going to do it like Novocaine, man.

30:28Just give it time. It'll work. You know what I'm saying? man. Just give it time, man. We went on ahead up out there. We condensed that thing down. Say, hey, listen. Do this, this, this, and this. And you will. Brothers, get out there first down and go to Warren Hot Little 11. We end up stalling out next three plays, but we got to punt the ball, right? Did somebody not tell We Day or Who Day that We Day and y 'all can't just run into our And almost break his plant leg. Almost tear up my man's plant leg in the process. Don't get nowhere near blocking the ball. Flags. Flags. Pretty sure it's you.

31:13Because look, right before that, A-Rod missed fire move on that third and six. That was a hell of a lot. It's just too far. Just a little more touch. Not me to tell A-Rod to put a little bit of touch on him. Hey, we ain't tripping, man. I'm not tripping because now, you know what? We got some improvements. No, no, no. For sure. A lot of meat on the bone, Joe. That's the positive. But you got to acknowledge it. We're going to acknowledge it. Because it's meat on the bone. You're correct. First down, Warren going to run that thing for nine. Third and one, they get it back to him. He get a seven.

31:49First down, Rodgers hit that man. That's a tough catch. That's a tough catch. Why ain't I seeing my man more? I don't know. He's doing what he's got to do. Yes, continue, continue, continue. Continue to keep showing what you're showing. Don't, because look, the last, like, he's the same one when the joint, he ricocheted off my man's chest for the pick two. So we still, consistency, because you keep showing it. When the ball's in there, keep catching these passes, we keep believing. True, true. True, true. True, true. Hey, it third down and two. We at the six. Rodgers find that man DK sitting in the back of the end zone all by himself.

32:29You know why? They said, here, all we going to do is cross and make these bongos bungle. I mean, bangles. That's where you got them drag routes. Ain't no joke. You got to get right behind them. You got to look. No, you have to get directly behind the receiver. Because if he don't run into nobody, you won't run into nobody. If you run next to him, you're going to run smack into somebody just like they did. They're trying to run next to the receiver. When those drag routes. Joe, stop telling the secret. I'm just telling you. I'm telling you for our DBs. I don't want to see them running to each other either.

32:59You better get directly behind them because if he don't hit nobody, you won't hit nobody. Hey, Joe. Touchdown. 24 to 20. Who up now? Who up now, Joe? And our defense go out there. Oh, my goodness. What is we doing, bro? I did.

33:26What is we doing? First down, we let Burrow kick him 14. I'm telling you, when we're in the zone. Herbert actually drops Brown for no gain the next play, brother. It's incomplete on the second down. It's third and 10. It's high to short. He's in the middle of that zone. And you see the short player. Why do you? Don't come up. Let him throw it down to the check down. That check down. Burrow was able to hold the ball and make sure there's more time. But right behind your head is the seven. Stay there and let him check it down and you come up and rally and make the tackle. 17 yards on that, man. First down.

34:04Now, we able to get him to a fourth and two. I mean, I don't know. I mean, you. It is what it is, but it's a fourth and two. And it's at the 25-yard line, Joe. And we let Burrell. No, to hell with let Burrell. We just let the tight end run. Go. Like, where did y 'all think he was going? To block the goalposts? Yes. I can't. I don't know what defense they were. I don't know who was responsible for who right there. And that, like, if it's man-to-man, it's three dudes and there was a miscommunication, there's a bust. That's just a secondary bust. I don't know who it was responsible for, but it's those guys over there.

34:4525-yard touchdown. That's hot. Come on, D. They up 24th. To 27 now. Yeah, that's like, and that's another one I'm saying. If we have my young boy Everett in there, 23, I don't know what the communication is like. Like, he's, do we, did Joey Porter, if he's out there? I think that's just communication. Bruh, we get out there. Warren, he goes ahead the first three plays. I think he went like four, five, three, something like that. We get a first down. And then we get, what is it, three incompletions? then it picks. We got to punch the rock. Yes. And we got to punch the rock now. There you go. Shout out to the Bengals special teams.

35:32The Bengals bongos. Shout out to the bongos special teams. Hey, man, special teams, Gary. Hey, hey, appreciate y 'all, man. That man bongled that ball. I mean, bongled that ball. Right off the face mask. Right off the face mask. What was he looking at, Joe? I don't know. How you, it hit your face. It didn't even hit your face. Wow. Yeah. I mean, he dropped his eyes way before the ball even got close to him. He was looking at that. He was looking at the coverage. He was ready to make a move. He was going to go ahead and pay. We need that, though. Yo. We need that. We get the ball back, man. We don't know what is it.

36:12The 10, 12, 14, something like that. Man. We can't. We can't. We've been working, scoring, but sudden change. that's where we close it we need to go ahead and put our foot on they throat instead we get sacked on the third down we gotta settle for a field goal it's 27-27 Cincinnati get back out there I ain't gonna lie to you man I'm over there sweating like a hooker stand up D stand up D D does finally give us a three and out three and out hey Pittsburgh Pittsburgh Steelers get back out there oh my goodness call these balonious penalties on DK it's some bullfraggle rock that man went 87 yards and then y 'all had to figure out a way to bring it back he had his hands outside so what the boy wasn't even trying to get off the block boom soon as he tried I seen that that happens all the time That was not...

37:21DK, no. That's not your fault. Not your fault. Not your fault. No way, bro. Crazy. I'm like, it's no way. And I'm going to tell you this. The lactic acid in Jalen Warren's legs now are blown. He's gone. His legs are shot. Legs shot, brother. They got to come all the way back. Now it's first and 11. Roger said, okay, look here, DK. Go ahead and give me a little 14. Off the fake hole. Good catch. Oh my goodness, it was tight in there. Warning, the following song has been rated dangerously catchy and may not be suitable for grown-ups. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four. Oh my God, Lexi, we have a new podcast. It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi Iwanu. We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa DiGiulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references, occasionally different opinions. And at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all. I'm not going to get anywhere fighting. That is wild. I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of New Shoes, Good Taste is my business, and I've always got something to say.

40:47If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world. We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser. We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Because you told us how accommodating you are. Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me Don't lie to me Don't lie to me Liar Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts I don't really care Great, great catch Way to be strong Hey, and that man They don't know what to do something with, man Roger go ahead and hit Washington Hit Mount Washington, man That man rumbled and stumbled Come on, give it to him We can turn around and see Y receiver's blocking he did not want to hit that man anywhere.

41:42Nobody. He tried to grab it late. He did. But listen, man, you trying to grab it. That's like trying to tackle a tackle, man. If you don't get both, you got both of them. Both of them. You don't get both of them. You got to get both of them. You only get one of them. You're going to get dragged. You're going to get kicked. Something's going to happen. You let the man rumble four to seven yards, and he went down the sideline like he was trying to tote that. Yes, he's looking for people. Because if he got his eyes on you, he's going to stiff you. Hey, the dude that he tried to stiff at the end, he got the hand down.

42:17He went to go get that stiff, and he caught it right in time. I ain't going to lie. That was a good job. Well, he got stepped on the two of his land. You're seeing him. I'm like, dang, the team, the coach over there didn't even want to help him up. No question, brother. Warren, get back out there. We get that hot little first down, man. And he go 26 yards. Should have been a touchdown. And that's what I was... I don't know if it was grass or if it was footing. He tripped over the 11-yard line, and it was the lactic acid. That... Fix the 11-yard line. Got him. Tripped. Oh, my... Debo. Nobody there.

42:52Nobody there. Nobody. 11-yard line. Fix it. Fix it. Tripped my dog up. Tripped my dog up, man. We first in goal at, what, the six? Yes, Debo. We first in goal at the six, yo. Yes. And we got to settle for another field goal. We get a penalty on second down. We get sacked up. We get sacked. On third. On third down. We get sacked at the most unopportune times. I'm just happy it was only two. Okay. We kick the field goal and we go up. Yes. Yes, we do. What was the score, Joe? 30 to 27. The score was 30 to 27 right then when we went up, Joe. Joe said. The guy, he get out there. Joe Burrow. Burrow goes.

43:48Watch him, our Chase. He's brown. Who's dropping for? Oh, y 'all lost. It's third gate, Joe. And now, here comes this man, Chase, again. For 13 in the first time.

44:05Where? We're in it. What is it? If we're in a zone, I feel like with that Jalen, you got to extend out because my man Everett, you're just supposed to be on top. So if nobody's in front of Jalen, you got to extend to that. That comeback, that stop, that's on the underneath coverage. That's not on the top corner if you're in cover three. That's not your responsibility. So we got to widen out. And just know, that's Jamar Chase out there. We got to widen out that zone. That's not the corner's responsibility. Because if you start playing cover three and tell him he got to get that comeback, once he gets bombed up, then now we're looking at him crazy.

44:44Now we're looking at him crazy. But I ain't tripping. Hey, we got a defense, too. We got a defense. Come on, man. For the first round picks, they got to, you know what I'm saying? Time to eat. It's time to eat. Lock it down. Shut this shit down. Harmon said, hey, come here. Get up. Get over here. Finish the game. Pow. Pow. Oh, you're trying to get away. Oh, you're still trying to get away. Get in the palm. Pow. Fumble.

45:17Recovery. Pittsburgh Steelers. We day. Come on. Come on.

45:25Yo. 27 to 38. Hey, hey. We're going to go on out here and just, you know, drop it down. Kneel down. It's over. It's over. It's over. this is what we do. This is what we are capable of doing, Joe. It's always them, man. We just have to get the right people in the right places. Make sure that we can get it done. The offense shows you what they're capable of doing, Joe. We just need to go ahead and do this. Weekend and week out. Yes. Yes, Debo. This is what shows that at the end of the day, Aaron Rodgers Mike McCarthy he goes studies the tape he understands what we had with the play calling wasn't working what we had with this offensive line that's not working it's time to switch it all up switch the whole right side up new mix let's get it going let's switch up the play call listen we spent the first round there on E.

46:20Honda sure we gotta see what we got now is the time because what we got out there it ain't working 1000 % we gotta get we gotta get something out there that's gonna work man new offensive line we set it up put it together change the whole right side, yo. Go, go, go. Going into it, preseason told me we got to do something. This ain't, this ain't. Jalen Warren is Chico. Jalen Warren, we got to get him to rock. When we had Najee Harris on the squad too, and they were splitting time, when I was watching, I'm like this, the dude Jalen Warren is explosive. He does everything. He can hit the middle. He can run outside.

46:56He can catch the screens. And he's a dog. You won't hear him. He don't say much. He just won't work. So if you get the offensive line to get him a little bit of a hole, like if he's getting hit in the backfield the first couple of weeks, we rushed for 74 yards in the first two games. This one we ran for 134 yards because he's getting able to get going. He was running behind Max. He was running behind the right side of the line. But get that going, play actions, start hitting, and then with the offense with Aaron Rodgers and the guys, like get it into their hands, let the playmakers make plays.

47:28With Wilson, like, we just can't have those self-inflicted wounds where we're dropping the passes that are hitting you in the hands. Aaron Rodgers hasn't thrown a real pick this entire season. It's ricochets off of our receivers that are hitting them in the hands. There shouldn't be turnovers, but those are picks that are hurting the offense. So we get rid of those. Yes. Then Aaron Rodgers, the little bit of plays like with DK, just floated up there, the third and sixth to fire move. You know what I'm saying? and there's a couple of little passes that we got that we can hit and still get more points.

47:58We scored 30. We scored 30. First two drives. Walk it down. Okay. Do tutties. Tutties. Okay. Like, this is great. Defense. Okay. A lot of our zones, we got to put a body on a body. If we got zones, I love the fact we're respecting. We're not putting our secondary in harm's way because we don't want to put, obviously, we're not putting Asante. We're not putting Dean in man-to-man as much. We're putting them in zone. We're letting our pass rush get after the quarterback. But we got to start. We got to start. We got to relate. Yes. We got to start. No, they keep in our zone. We need to relate to them until they get out of our zone.

48:37Why are we keep biting the cheese? Guys, if it's third and 10, we got to start being able to just be smart. There's dig concepts. They want to go short. So then we bite the cheese and they hit it behind our head. We got to start. No, dig, dig, dig. We got to start talking on this. Check down. We all rally. Boom. We're off the field. A lot of those. And then when we get these man-to-man beaters, fourth and two, he's just running straight down the field on us. That's communication. Then I'm saying, a couple of those plays, though, Santee Samuel Jr. It's man-to-man. You can't back up in the end zone.

49:09Touchdown from Chase right there. That's you. You got to have your eyes on him. Higgins, you're 35 seconds left in the half. You know they about to bomb it up because you back there man-to-man. Get your eyes back on the quarterback. Play the ball, and you could have had a high point, easy pick. because Higgins wasn't even looking at you. He's trying to set you up. So, like, there's things on defense. And that's something else, dude. Zone, you got a good quarterback, dude. He's not going to look where his receiver is sitting up behind you. You're going to have to look, get a quick little glance.

49:37Oh, my goodness. Read three. Read steps. Read steps. Dude, he's going to look you off on that, dude. The offense, the reason we were able to do what we were able to do, the offense was able to run the ball, brother. We had, what is it, 411 yards of offense. Jalen Warren was 176 of those total yards. 127 rushing on 17 carries, bro, and another 49 receiving. All right? Aaron didn't have a high completion rate, but he still went, what was it? He went 19 for 294 yards, three touchdowns, an interception that really wasn't his fault. a 101 passer rating, okay, and we had easy misses that, you know, he could have connected on if, you know, we take a little more time or make a better placement of throwing the ball.

50:34Like, the offense went out there and they answered when we needed them to answer. It was either touchdown or field goal. The defense did things to help put them in position. The special teams came through super big. Back looking at Max, they said he had 36 snaps of pass blocking, no sacks, and only allowed three pressures. That's a rookie. That's a man that only been playing the game for, what, now, four years? The best part about the offensive linemen is when they have a great game, you don't hear their name. So that's when I know. I'm like, oh, I haven't heard about Max all day. That's when you know he's balling.

51:11Because if you hear his name, I'm like, why the hell do we keep talking about this offensive linemen? Why am I talking about this linemen? They false started. He's holding. He's getting beat. Unless he go and put somebody on their back and wall him. Come on, man. That's great. Like a vicious dog let loose into a playground. Mm-hmm. Uh-uh. Offensive lineman. Your name shouldn't even be heard. I don't want to know nothing because that means you had a great game. Oh, we didn't even talk about Max. Yes, because he was holding it down. He was holding it down. Well, what did he do? That's the big thing.

51:41He did what he's supposed to do. He did his job. He made sure his name didn't get called. Protected the quarterback. He did his job. J-1 getting smacked when we ran behind the right side. Great job. Exactly. When we run the ball, you know what that opens up? It opens up them boys biting down. Play action. They got to bite down on that. The play action. Now we open it up. You don't have a play action if you don't have a run game. Nobody's coming up. Wide open. Nobody's coming up. I like the fact that the defense was able to close it out. All right? At the very end, they had the opportunity to do it.

52:11You know what I'm saying? but secondary, hey, y 'all don't lie on, what is it, almost 76 %? That man, he was about 15, 14 for 14 at the beginning of the game because at one point, bro, he was 15 for 15, bro. to pick you apart if you're sitting in those zones and he got time. So we got to understand and we're going to live by that because if you go man to man, if you go man to man, it'll get ugly. It will get uglier. If you got Higgins in them and Jamar Chase outside and your press coverage, you see as soon as he had to fourth and two, he's going back shoulder. So it's like, okay, we understand we got zones to protect the DBs, but now DBs and linebackers, we got to start relating to these routes better and making them check it down so everybody sees the ball, boom, and now we can react and come down.

52:55These passes behind our heads, it's because we're not relating to these damn routes. We're in zone. We're trying to look out for you. Because if we put you in man, you got to guard these fades and stuff, man to man, single high. Well, we had another corner out there, you know, we might be able to play a little bit. We can play some more, a thousand percent. You know, we had another corner out there. You know, communication and a corner, you know what I'm saying? I think you might have been one of those good communicators. No, for sure. And with him, it's a lot less communication. I got, you can just guard the bar too.

53:23Okay, back. Hey, hey, here. Yeah, hey, listen, don't worry about nothing. We can play a lot more bands. Because you know. Thank you. Even if we don't just play a man, half man, and something. Give me something. Give me something, man. Like, if we can't go and show you something that we can take away from you, we're in trouble, bro. Yeah. We're in trouble. We got to be able to take something away. And right now, how are we trying to take it away, zone? Yeah. We ain't even doing good enough in the zone to make sure we relate enough to make it close. The closest we got was when Queen got his hands on the one.

54:01Yes, looking at the court, matching, relating to routes. like i don't hey like i said hey but look that's one of the things we need to get better at we got to get more pressure on the quarterback and not not even just press we got to get to him we have two sacks and we had one sack big sack sack that we couldn't have lived without but we need to get more of him because he had too much time back there to go from his second third you know option because he's not being pressured. We're letting them run the ball too well. We're still letting them run the ball too well. We got almost, what, four and a half, 4.6 a rush?

54:42That right there is ridiculous. I think the last two games, that's almost a yard more than they were getting. And I don't do it. I don't like this five DB stuff when you got tight ends out there. I'm going to make your DBs tackle. I don't do nothing else. I'm going to make your DBs happen. Like, the big thing for the offense, we got to finish. Like, we got to finish these drives and touchdowns, especially when we get in the ball and we only, you know, less than 20 yards to pay dirt. We got to close that out. Like, you can't look the gift torch in the mouth too many times. Like, we got to close that out.

55:21But the result is exactly. With 30, with all of that, like you said, with all that left on the bone and we got 30. Could have easily been a 40 point game, D-Bow. We could have easily scored 40. 40 ball. Easy game, 40 ball. 40 ball. 40 ball all day. So we get the defense to stand up, take care of it. Yeah. like the zone thing, dude, I think the pass was worse than the pass. Oh, brother, that's what I'm saying. It was the communication. It was the zones. It's the matching of the route. I know we're in those zones. Those dig routes, they keep running it. You know what I'm saying? Like, guys, we have to be able to match it.

55:59They don't even run the ball, Joe. Mangos is not running the rock, bro. I feel it, Debo. Like, and they're running the ball, dude. Like, they're having a good time running the ball. I don't, like, I don't know. Look, we got the dub over the ball. We got to stop the run. If we don't stop the run, it's going to stay open for the pass. If you can't stop the run, it's going to open up everything else. If you can stop the run, the pass can easily be stopped. Why? Because I'm not sitting up here having to put eight in the box. I'm not sitting up here having to add an extra man. I'm not sitting up here worrying about them running the ball because my front seven is taking care of it.

56:45And when we got five DBs in there, man, you asking a 200-pound DB to come in there with 300-pounders and insert himself. that is hard work coming off the edge yes you could do that but when you're talking about in between those tackles that's something totally different no for sure and that's our linebackers same thing hey let's get down here put our hands on these boys get off the block and get the tackle that's it it's simple offense look way better defense communication run game we got to stop the run we have to stop the run next week because we going against what I just saw over there in Cleveland.

57:29I don't, I don't, I don't need Deshaun Watson running around having to be like, Hey man, you know what? Over there in Cleveland. Warning.
