In short
Debo and Joe (Part 1) covers the Cavs vs. Knicks playoffs and Cleveland’s offseason drama. Topic: Joe recounts being courtside for the Cavs’ 4-0 sweep, while Dan Gilbert allegedly moved high-profile Knicks fans (including Fat Joe, Spike Lee, and Kylie Jenner) from front-row courtside to row two/three after they bought the seats. Key claim: Gilbert “runs his house” and refunds/relocates opposing celebrity fans; the hosts argue it’s about controlling access, not just the Knicks losing.
Notable examples
Joe describes seeing Spike Lee and Kylie Jenner in the front row after seat changes; they discuss Harden’s comments that the Knicks were “better” but didn’t show it.
Guest backgrounds
no guests appear in this episode (only hosts Debo Harrison and Joe Hayden). Topic shifts to the Browns: Chris Chanty (former NFL player) is referenced as saying a Myles Garrett trade is coming due to Garrett deferring $30M and missing mandatory minicamps. Key claim: hosts suggest Garrett’s absence and lack of communication indicate a trade request.

5:03James Harrison:Welcome back to this episode of Debo and Joe. I'm your host, James Debo Harrison, baby, and I'm here with my co-host, Joe Hayden. Please, please make sure you like it. Hey, listen, listen, Joe, please make sure you like it, subscribe, and download where you get your podcast. Damn, Joe, what's wrong with your face? Joe, how you doing today? I'm closed up. I had a long day. I'm on my way home now. I'm in the hills, Debo. I'm headed back from a frustrating loss. It was actually crazy. I'm not going to lie to you. I was in the building. You know, I woke up this morning. I had a flight to get back home so I could be in my house to watch, you know what I'm saying, to do the show.
5:49James Harrison:I woke up late. Missed my flight. Woke up at 8.30. So now I'm in the car. I'm damn near. I'm probably next to you. I'm driving from Cleveland back to D.C., and I'm probably in Pittsburgh Hills right now. Where we at? Yeah, I'm in Pittsburgh Hills. I'm in Allegheny, headed back to my house from a belt to ass. Oh, no question. I was right there, courtside. I'm going to tell you one thing. Dan Gilbert did one of the most gangster things I've ever seen. I'm courtside, Debo. you know, I'm courtside. I could trip a referee. I felt like I was in my physique seats. Spike Lee was row two. Kylie Jenner was row two.
6:41James Harrison:That man, Dan Gilbert, the fat Joe, all the people from the Knicks that came from New York and thought it was going to be sweet and sit courtside and laugh and ha-ha and kiki while we was getting belted ass, they put Dan Gilbert did not let none of them sit on the front row. So everybody was sitting row two watching us getting our ass beat. I mean like that you was happy you was happy about that you row one get your side seat. I mean look it wasn't it wasn't it wasn't my choice but that's what happened. I was trying to figure out because Spike was there and they was just and Dan did not let nobody from New York I'm just saying I'm looking at it right now.
7:23James Harrison:I mean I mean Fat Joe plus 10 Knicks fans manned from courtside at the Cavs playoff games, relocated to new seats. Fat Joe said he bought some courtside tickets to the game. And once they found out that it was super fan Fat Joe, he was like, hey, they look like you can't sit courtside. They said New York fans can't sit courtside. He said they took the tickets away courtside after they purchased it. Debo, that happened. I didn't know how, but I'm like, dang. I knew I pulled up and my boys hit me because I got to the game, Debo, at 8.10. I'm like five minutes late. You know what I'm saying? I'm rushing to get there, straight to the game.
8:09James Harrison:As soon as I get there, I'm calling my ticket man, Rhett. My good man's like, Joe, where you at? Your seats are open. They're blowing my phone up right now. You need to get in those seats. I'm like, okay, my bad, Rhett. I'm hustling. I'm trying to get here. You know what I'm saying? So then I got him. Did they refund the man? Did they give him his money back? What did they do, Joe? They put him in row two, I guess. I don't know. I was looking. I saw Fat Joe over there. I saw Spike right there. I saw Colleen right there. But guess what? It didn't. Honestly, honestly. You know what? Honestly, they had a better time than I did.
8:47James Harrison:I would have sat row 30. And we would have won by 30. It didn't matter about the season. I'm sitting at a great seat. Listen, Joe, this is what happened, Joe. This is what happened. You know, Fat Joe was on ESPN. He was talking, and he was like, yo, quote, he said, he said, that's why I came to Cleveland so we can be done tonight. He said, I want this over with. And then he went to go sit at them seats, and they said, get your ass into row two or three that he bought they said we don't care we know i'm danny gilbert i'm dan gilbert this is my i will give your bread back sit where i want you to sit and i'll give you your money back and still sit you where you at i lie to you not brother that's why that man dan gilbert is a cold ass owner he don't care about none of that i own the team this is my house.
9:47James Harrison:If you come into my house, I tell you where you sit. You going to buy these seats? I give your money back? It's no, no, no, no, no. Cavs only. I'm rocking with Dan. If I'm an owner of a team, and yeah, he can do what he want to do. Yeah, all that. Hold up. Let's flip this, Joe. Let's flip this since this is so gangster. Since this is so gangster. You go to New York. Y 'all about to sweep the Knicks. You done brought courtside seats, and they decide to sit you row two. What you going to do? I'm going to get my bread back This is what I'm telling you The owner of the Knicks That's his house So if I buy them tickets And then he's like Oh that's Joe that bought them tickets Here take your little cheese back So you done spent 20 a ticket You got 40 ,000 And they sit you on the second, third row And then they give you a refund You good with that huh?
10:41James Harrison:I'm good with it They just closed it out They stand in the court to see all who are having a good time and they can't even see you. All they see is your shoes in the picture and everybody else in the front row. That's what I'm telling you. If I own the team and I'm going to make sure if I bought the team and you find out it's me, you give my money back. As long as you do what you got to do and give me my bread back, then you could do it. Because guess what? You own the stadium. I'm not going to tell you how to run your stuff. You got it. but I'm telling you this yeah man why you even bruh you don't want nobody sitting there that ain't don't don't put it on sale man don't even allow nobody to sell it go buy it from them so you can pick and choose who you want on your court side floor don't even put it on sale don't even allow it to be sold go and get it tell them you want to get them whatever it is like come on Debo that's what happens though you know the normal the people when you have the ticket Hey, that must be like a clean thing.
11:43James Harrison:That must be a clean thing. That's janky as hell. Like, I ain't never heard of the Roonies doing nothing like that. Hey, we getting beat. Whatever it may be, we taking away your level 100 seats that's right down there behind us because we don't want you to say, what? Yeah, that's how dad is rocking. That's how dad is rocking. You cool with that, Joe, huh? You know what's so crazy, Joe, is I was like, I wasn't like this. The people, the people were DMing me because they were seeing what was going down. And they're like, James, please don't go too hard on Joe. Let him live, blah, blah, blah, all this other stuff, right?
12:23James Harrison:And then they hit. Support for the show comes from Public, the investing platform for those who take it seriously. 16:03James Harrison:Get me with the, you supposed to be a change, man. You a man of God now and all this other stuff. And I started thinking, you know what? And I'm like, hey, they're right. I'm not going to go hard on Joe. So when you called me, Joe, I didn't even go. I didn't even go, did I? I didn't go. But now, Joe, I'm starting to think. I'm starting to think, Joe, like maybe I made a mistake. In my assumption that you would be a person that would be like, you know what? What they did wasn't right. I can see what they did. I can understand, but it was wrong. The man paid for the seats. Like, what if that was somebody that ain't never had an opportunity to sit in the front row of a game?
16:48James Harrison:He done spent his last dime. He done paid everything he done had. He done saved up for this for the last 30 years so he could be sitting courtside for this game for the sweep. And he going put him back in row two. I'm going to tell you this. Dan Gilbert did not do that to just a random. He's not doing that to. Oh, he was picking. He was picking. He didn't know specifically who they are. Spike Lee, whose tickets are these for? They're for Spike. Spike, yo, ass. Get your ass in the second row, Spike. Bad Joe? Oh, and for you? You coming here trying to come in here and rah-rah these Knicks fans? No.
17:26James Harrison:Get your ass in row two. Kylie, it was crazy. I'm like, Kylie Jenner, they're the most famous people. Let me tell you something. Kylie Jenner and her boy and her dude, my man, her boyfriend, they ended up getting up to the front row because my man, the Cavs fans was looking back like, damn, that's really Kylie and them. They switched. They took a picture with them. He might have gave something. He might have gave him a couple dollars or something. But he switched the seats and he got in the front row for show. So this is what I'm telling you. Dan is not doing it to nobody that's saving their money.
17:57James Harrison:Any person that's trying to get up there like this. Who was the other 10? Huh? Who were the other 10 that they moved? Brother, trust me. I don't know, Debo. Well, how do you know it wasn't somebody that saved up everything?
18:13James Harrison:Because the names and faces. there's a celebrity role New York Knicks fans the celebrity being on front row being courtside is the thing and they were bringing their selves to Cleveland and Dan said that's what you're not about to do you're not about to sit here you gotta get the courtside so it had nothing to do with the fact that your team played like trash that they blew every possibility of winning the game didn't they run on like a 20 point run on them at one point, like, when y 'all down by 40 at some point. Debo, I'm going to tell you this. I'm telling you what was happening. It was bad.
18:54James Harrison:It was bad. You know what was worse? You know what was worse? Listen to what James Harden had to say. Harden said the Cavs are better than that despite the sweep. Listen to what Harden had to say. Play that Harden for me. Reflecting on this series, how much better, if they're better, the Knicks than you guys? If they're better? I mean, I can't even, like, I can't even answer that question, honestly. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, it was 4-0, but I don't think we had a chance as far as our best shot, you know, from a standpoint of the circumstances. You know, obviously they just, they dominated us 4-0, But, yeah, I don't know if I can necessarily answer that question.
19:48James Harrison:Just because genuinely I do feel like we are the better team. But, you know, series-wise, you know, I didn't show it. So, tough question to answer. Hey, Joe, this is the thing that I don't like about when people make statements is it was 4-0. but soon as you say but everything you said before that and everything that you say after that it don't mount to a hill of beans because the but give me the bullshit excuse that you coming up with or belief like he said he believes he's not saying they are he said he believes that they're better no no like Joe what are you talking about what are you talking about here Joe D-Bo he ain't talking about nothing I ain't even talking about it.
20:39James Harrison:That's what he's talking about, D-Vo. I ain't even expect that response, Joe. Matter of fact, hold on. Let me slow down. Let me slow down. Let me, hey, hey, listen to what your boy Donovan said. Run with Donovan. It's just hilarious. We've done something that we haven't done since 2018, and we're still going. There's going to be criticism everywhere. We're on Kenny, right? But why? We got here. some people, not saying Kenny or us, but some people consider this like, oh, this is great. We did it. But we did it with Kenny. We didn't just go out there and coach ourselves, right? So the people are going to be people.
21:19People probably criticize me just as much and James. But I love Kenny. We love Kenny. We ride with Kenny. And ultimately, that's all that matters, right? I know for a fact he's from Long Island. He don't give a damn. like you know what I'm saying but it's just the world we live in we could have made it to the finals and got swept someone was going to say something I told you even if we won there was going to be something like can we do it like it's always going to be something right and it's always going to be something for people to say but ultimately we're in the thick of it we're in it together and that's my biggest thing it's just people are going to be people and honestly who cares you know what I'm saying we're in this
22:02James Harrison:together. Hey, Joe, that's crazy. You know what's so crazy? Your top two players? No accountability. Your coach? No accountability. Nobody has no accountability. You know why? Everybody has got that old bullshit-ass excuse from the coach. Analytics. Analytics says we should be up. The players, they feeding into that same bullshit. They listening to that same thing. They feeding the same thing out. Your top leaders have zero accountability. Ain't nobody said nothing about you know what man we needed to do this better we needed to do that better they're talking about excuses oh man our legs wasn't it he talking about possibility his legs not being fresh that's crazy you were up by 22 points in the fourth quarter in the first game with those so-called not fresh legs new york was sitting over there waiting for y 'all for a week they just went on head and knocked the rest off in three quarters then jumped on y 'all neck like what are we talking about, yo, what got to be done here?
23:01James Harrison:Listen, one, coach, I think coach got to go. Again, I love the coach. I love emotional connection. No, what is he doing that's going to get you to the championship? What is he doing? He got you to where you're at. Yes, I understand that, but what did he do in that process once you got there? Give you excuses and then watch you say the same thing to the media, just with different people saying it and different ways of saying it, instead of taking accountability
23:34I'm going to tell you this
23:38James Harrison:you're exactly right the one thing I'm going to say about my team right now is it's the leadership it's the accountability it's the dog we got to know like you got to stand on we got our ass beat we got our ass beat And that's exactly what happened. So all of this talk about legs, energy, execution. We got belt to ass. That's what happened. Debo, you got me? I got you, baby. My thing is this, Joe. Why did you miss your flight, Joe? I know why you missed your flight, Joe. You missed your flight because you had to drink your way through it and you couldn't get up in time, Joe. You know why? Because the coaching failed.
24:24James Harrison:The execution failed. The leadership is terrible. has been like that because your coach has been terrible. Okay? The mentality and the mindset of everybody is gone because of the coach and the leaders that you have that are feeding it to what the coach is giving them. Like you done lost every game by double digits. What are you talking about? More talented? If you're more talented, that means you were out-coached, out-played, and you're giving a whole bunch of bullshit excuses. That's all that it is at the end of the day. And I hate to do that to my boys because they're, I mean, it's the squad, but it is what it is.
24:59James Harrison:When you go out there and you get your butt whooped straight up, I was watching the game. We was trying to bring energy. We can't do that if they're actually out there whooping your butt. My man, Carl Anthony Towns out there just manhandling you guys. Young boys, like, they're just out there giving more energy, more heart. My man, Jalen Brunson, I'm in the joint watching. And all, like, me and my Cavs teammates, me and my Cavs fans, we're sitting on their court side with the dudes behind us. And they're celebrating. And there's nothing we can say. Because they're literally whooping our ass. I was sitting there watching.
25:44James Harrison:And it was just, it got to the point of embarrassment. literally we're down 30 we're down 40 my man mgk i seen him in this like he i thought my man was about to shed a tear dead ass it was not a good game it was bad for as a fan watching it it was like no then when we see the interviews though after default it's like what you guys like guys we love you but what are you talking about they went out there don't talk about your legs you got to be able to take it like a man like when i we play professional sports cbo and now for me when i'm sitting there i'm a fan and i'm watching and i'm loving it because i want the calves to win but when you get your butt whooped by a team that went out there and just literally beat you in all aspects out coached outplayed the players was doing better there's nothing support for the show comes from public the investing platform for those who take it seriously on public you can build a multi-asset portfolio of stocks, bonds, options, crypto, and now generated assets, which allow you to turn any idea into an investable index with AI.

30:23James Harrison:For a fan, when I'm watching, like, Joe, what's going on? I'm like, nothing. The team out there is getting their butt whooped. Do you see New York? They are out there. All the shot, everything's going in. Everything's going in. Their defense, they're just stealing the ball from us. And we're not getting back on defense, no effort. It just was bad. So I can't come on this show right now and say anything positive about the Cavs yesterday. They took us all the way. They beat us down. Like, for me to sit here and say, like, no, we would have, could have, should have. No, nothing good happened. I missed my flight because I had a couple of drinks after.
31:10James Harrison:Because I was sad. I had a 6 a.m. flight. I couldn't know. I couldn't make it. Yeah, they said Joe driving to Cancun to meet up with the rest of the doo-doo teammates. Hey, Joe, that's it. Hey, listen, I'm going to let it go. You know, that's the chat, Joe. Hey, listen, man. Amanda took enough of beating y 'all. We're going to carry him on in the house. We're going to go ahead and we're going to stay in Cleveland, man. We're going to stay in Cleveland because right here, man, we got a former NFL player, Chris Chanty. He says there's no way to explain the way things have unfolded in Cleveland this offseason other than Miles Garrett trade is coming.
31:54James Harrison:he's saying, yo, it's weird because they have not given an explanation, a reasonable explanation as to why this man would defer $30 million, Joe. What do you think, Joe? What do you think? Do he have a point? I mean, or is he just talking? What do you think? No, Debo, first you tell me. Hey, hey. You know what I'm saying. But you want me to say it first. I know what you're going to say. So look here, Joe. Look here You know me I sit back I look and I start thinking Like you know what I thought it was coming earlier But maybe not Maybe not But then they moved the stuff around And all that Then nothing really happened But you know what done happened Since then Your boy ain't showed up He ain't even showed up He ain't even met the man face to face The new head coach He ain't even have no understanding to know what's going on with the defense.
32:53James Harrison:Nothing. New defensive coordinator, everything going on. You know what that tells me is he don't need to know. Why don't he need to know? Because chances are he's not going to be there when it comes time for the regular season or after June 1st. You tell me what you think, Joe, because from what you're saying, you believe that everybody believes and you believe he's that good, just come in there, get the terminology, all that other stuff, and keep it running from training camp on with just no, without missing a beat. No muscle, no muscle memory to new terminology, all that other stuff. Because I remember now you got a new D coordinator coming in.
33:33James Harrison:So what he says in this terminology may mean something else in the other terminology, which you may get confused. But until you're actually in there, running it in and out. He's miles in. Okay. Okay. Go ahead. You tell me what's going on. You tell me what you think. He's Miles Garrett. He's always going to be Miles Garrett. You know him. I know. He's Miles Garrett. So this is what I'm saying. With him having to be on the field and him being there, when he's there, he's going to be him regardless. He doesn't need to learn the scheme and all that terminology stuff that we're talking about. That's here, no there.
34:16James Harrison:what I'm trying to figure out is him not showing up him not knowing the coach right now it's more I don't know if they're it's not it's not a good look Debo hey hey listen it's not out of question now Joe it got you questioning now Joe that man done missed one mandatory mini camp already it's another one coming up if he misses that one Joe what you gonna say then alright This is what I'm telling you. It's starting to look a little messy. Okay? You got me there. You got me there. Him not being there for them camps, I understand his mouths. Him not talking to the coach, though, at all, is what's kind of throwing me off.
35:06James Harrison:It's starting to feel... I don't know what to say, Debo. So I literally right now. Hey, Joe, it's okay. Use your words. Use your words. I'm at a loss for words. Oh, you're. I'm at a loss for words. You don't want to say anything that may be controversial because of the controversial things that are happening that would lead you to maybe say something that's not in favor of what the Browns would like. yes Joe as much as I would you know hate to have to tell you this listen everything happens for a reason Joe nothing is by chance you don't just move 30 ,000 just for the hell of it 30 million for the hell of it Joe everything happens for a reason good, bad, and different hell, that's life I had to go through hell just because of whatever it was that led me to the position that I may be in, you know, later on, you know?
36:18James Harrison:The more and more time that passes right now, Debo, the more and more that I'm really thinking that the Browns are trying to, they're going to try to move. I think they want to move on for Miles, bro. I think they do I think that Miles at the same time wants to go wants to go do something else too he's been telling the Browns this for a while last year he told them I want to be traded they gave him the duffel bag so then obviously you're going to have to be on the team because you're a professional they gave you the bread you signed the contract you told them that you didn't want to be there but they gave you enormous amount of money.
37:03James Harrison:So now you're on the team because you have to be. You know what I'm saying? And now the offseason came, you were doing everything, and now you're not showing up. You dropped a whole million, you know what I'm saying, for not showing in the mandatory camps. You're putting your – you're letting them know. Regardless, you're not showing up. But when the season comes, you're going to come there because you're on the team. You're contractually obligated to be there. So you're going to be a professional. So when it comes to the games, you're going to show up and you're going to ball because your mouth's scared.
37:36James Harrison:You don't want to play for the Browns. Obviously, you said it, and now you're showing money where your mouth is. You're dropping a whole other meal, but not showing up to mandatory camps. You could be there, Miles. You were, you. This is one of these, Debo, like, Joe, you don't want to say nothing. Going to.
38:02James Harrison:I think we're going to lost Joe for a minute. He might have cut out. Joe, I think you cut out for a minute there. Can you... I look good for the Browns. Yeah, I see. Because I was out in the hills, man. I'm in the hills. I'm in the berg. Headed to D.C. And the Browns... Man, I'm stressed out, Debo. Honestly. Oh, yeah. Hey, man, listen, man, the whole Cleveland situation got you stressed out, man. I was trying to be, you know, a voice of comfort, you know, today. And, you know, I see I'm going to have to maybe get you to understand it. You know, it may be something different, but, you know, me, I just don't see it no other way.
38:52You go defer 30 for no reason if it don't help you get to what it is that you want to do,
38:58James Harrison:which is you want to win championships, yo. he wants to win championships he want to be known as the greatest and then he won't even have the greatest trophy that you get from playing the game the ultimate goal of the game like like he gotta have he he gotta have it he like he's like you know what i thought the money was gonna work it didn't i went and i got i got the defensive player of the year i i broke records and i ain't even happy i need a championship and i think that's where he at now joe yeah I think you're right man I think I was over
39:42James Harrison:hey man look it's alright man it's alright it's alright you still you got some more drink in there or something man you need another one or something you need to stop get you a you know I need to get something you need need like where you at man I'll pour you out man I'll pour you I'll pour you a drink, man. I need some electrolytes. Honestly, Debo. You need some electrolytes? Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. I got you. I got you. I get some water, some of that good water, some of that good H2O right here. I keep it on deck. I keep it on deck. All the time, baby. All the time. Can I get that water? Oh, baby.
