In short
The hosts react to major NFL contract news and debate whether Christian Gonzalez deserves elite cornerback money, then discuss Steelers/Browns captain choices and early-season expectations.
Guests
None. The episode is hosted by James “Debo” Harrison and Joe Hayden.
Guest backgrounds
Not applicable (no guests). Debo and Joe are football-focused hosts discussing NFL roster moves and contracts.
Key claims
- Patriots agreed to terms with Christian Gonzalez on a four-year, $135M deal, making him the highest-paid corner.
- Debate centers on whether Gonzalez should “reset the market” despite fewer accolades, with the hosts arguing “numbers” (allowed completion %, yards, interceptions, TDs) support his value.
- Steelers captain strategy: Mike McCarthy will name captains weekly, not full-season captains.
- Browns named Deshaun Watson a team captain; hosts argue locker-room leadership vs fan backlash.
Notable examples
- They compare Gonzalez vs other top-paid corners (Devin Witherspoon, Denzel Ward, Trent McDuffie, Sauce Gardner, Stingley Jr., J.C. Horn, Jalen Ramsey, Patrick Surtain II).
- They cite last-year stat comparisons (e.g., Gonzalez completion rate allowed 53.6; yards allowed 508; interceptions 0; TDs allowed 2; passer rating allowed 79 vs Gonzalez).

4:10James Harrison:I'm doing great, Brother Debo. Why you sounding so down, my brother? I'm not hearing the juice. I'm not hearing the juice in your voice. The juice in my voice is, it done flew. It done left. It done shot the coupe. It's gone. Yeah. Okay. I think I know why. Yo. I think I know why. The Patriots. Oh, yes, they did. agreed to terms with Christian Gonzalez for a four-year $135 million deal. Yes, sir. Make him now the highest-paid corner in the NFL. Yeah. Remember, we was talking about this yesterday, bro. Yeah. And we were asking, you know, who you think gets paid first? And you and me both was like, yo nephew gets paid first then i say but but i know robert craft how he deals and moves with his players and he does more for his players than most owners out there and this right here and because of this right here?
5:29Bruh, I don't know if we're going to be able to get a deal done, especially because of how the market is looking. Look at your top five highest paid corners right now. I got that. Put that up. Like, this right here, bro, you talking about 33.75, 33, 31, 1, 31, 30. That's your top five. Yeah. Dude, I don't have the... Put it to you like this. do you feel like Nephew is the top five corner? Okay.
6:20James Harrison:In my personal opinion, I feel like PZ is the top ten corner. Okay. I'm glad you said that. I'm actually very, very, very, very, very, very glad that you said that. Okay. So, I would agree with you. I wouldn't go into the top five either. but when you look at the the top five so matter of fact let's just go to the top ten we right now number one you have Christian Gonzalez yes he's at 33 75 uh huh you got Witherspoon after that he's at 33 uh huh you got Denzel your guy Ward yes sir 31 one uh huh Trent McDuffie at 31 sauce gardener at 30.1 you got stingley jr at 30 then you got jc horn 25 ramsay 24 1 patrick sertan the second 24 and blend at 22 so now i'm gonna ask you this question I just ran those names down.
7:37Yes. Now, do you feel nephew is better than Gonzalez?
7:48James Harrison:As a natural corner, I feel like Gonzalez is one of the top corners in the league. I feel like Patrick Sertan and Gonzalez with Stingley, they do a little bit of both. They can play off. They can play man. They can play press. their ball skills are elite. I feel like, and this is the other thing too, it's about when you're up. It's what the market serves. So when we're saying he's not the reset the market, I don't think at the same time Devin Witherspoon is better than Denzel Ward. Do you know what I'm saying? And Stingley. I feel like Stingley, Sertan, those dudes are resetting the market kind of guys.
8:27James Harrison:I feel like - Dude, listen, nephew never said he wanted - You and I know this. I never said that he should, I never said that he said that. But I'm saying when you're Asian and when you're looking at it, as far as stats wise, I can see him looking at it like, boom, I can be in that category. When we look at J.C. Horn, when we look at, when we look at Trent McDuffie, when I look at Sauce Gardner that are making$30 million a year, and as far as stats wise, you can match up Nephew to be like, there's no reason why Nephew can't be able to get the same amount of bag if he's got there. Listen, listen, listen.
9:01Exactly. So here's the thing. He never said he wanted to reset the market. So that whole thing that came out early, that's just a false narrative. That's not even true. He just wanted fair conversation. You and I both know what he's talking about. Some people know what that would be. and the big thing that everyone wants to come up with is he doesn't have the accolades he doesn't have the all pro he doesn't have the pro bowls so you mean to tell me since he don't have the accolades of the all pro the pro bowl the same system that didn't even put bill belichick in first ballot the same system that you just got rid of in the pro bowl because you were having third and fourth alternates making it because nobody wanted to go anymore that's what you're talking about?
9:51No. Sound good, though. Sound good. So, as you said, you know what I did? I went ahead and I looked at the top 10. I just gave you the top 10, Joe. Yes. Okay? So, as I read you that list off, I want you to tell me when I get to a name, if it's better or not. Just yes or no. That's it. Christian Gonzalez. Is he? I would say no. You would say no. Okay. Okay.
10:18James Harrison:Witherspoon. probably not you would say no i would say like just say better or comparable but i would say better i would say well if you get to i when i get to this list and i look at sauce gardener i could go there and that's what i'm saying sauce is making okay so denzel denzel ward i think he's just a i like him personally for me as a press corner playing off. Everybody has their own personal opinion. Your opinion is not right or wrong. I'm just asking for it because you are going to be a Hall of Fame corner. So where would you would you say as a total corner would you have Denzel Ward over Peasey?
11:05I would. Okay. That's that.
11:08James Harrison:Now McDuffie. Toss up. I can go Peasey there. The only thing with Trent McDuffie is he can do a little bit of both. I like his footwork. He's off technique, and he can play press. Ball skills are a little bit, you know what I'm saying, up in the air there. But when we get to the next one, I would say those top four. Now, Sauce Gardner. Sauce Gardner, right there. I think that Joey Porter Jr., I'll take Joey Porter Jr. Okay. Stingley. Stingley, I like Stingley. Okay. I think Stingley's better than Sauce Gardner. I think Stingley's better than Trent McDuffie. I think Stingley's one of my – he's top three.
11:45James Harrison:So I think when he's up, he can be able to go get$35 million a year. He can be one of those corners that can reset the market because he does it all. Ball skills, on, off, tackle, press, does a little bit of everything. He just looks – he can play wide receiver. So when I look at a DB that can also – like he just – ball skills, press, backpedal, everything. When the ball's in the air, there's no panic. He's just looking at it and he goes, he'll – most of receiver. When I look at that, that's just what makes the corner complete, fully elite. I think Joey Porter Jr. has it all, but as soon as he gets his ball skills a little bit better, it starts reading.
12:20James Harrison:All right, we'll get to that, bro. We'll get to that. Let me slow you down for a little bit. Okay. What's his name? Is that Jason? J.C. Horn. J.C. J.C. Horn. J.C. Horn. I mean, baller. I like J.C. Horn. You like him. Okay. Yes. I can agree with that. Jalen? Jalen Ramsey? Now, this is what we're saying. Jalen Ramsey now is— I would say no. I would say no. I would say no. I would say no. Yeah. Patrick Sertan. Patrick Sertan is one of the best points. He's top three in the league. Top three in the league. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Now, you said it was a no on Gonzalez. It was a no on Witherspoon. These are the top two paid guys.
13:09Okay. That's your opinion. everything everything is is opinion based everything's opinion comes down to it but joe here's the thing we get to do what it is that we do and we got something that matters it's called numbers yes okay so if you're gonna go and stick to the numbers because the big thing they're talking about is accolades that's exactly what it's talking about so you're telling me you have a guy that has accolades than that actually has the numbers like we play in a game that is based off of numbers so let's just compare numbers and let's do from last year because how they do it you're only as good as your your last game right you're only good as your last season that's how it always go when it come time oh well you know what you just had a down year Yeah.
13:59So, you know, we might we might need to get some money back or something like that. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to pop off on these names that we were looking at and we were talking about this top 10, bro. So this top 10 that we got right here, I'm going to go and look at. We're going to look at completion percentage allowed. Yes. That's a big one, right? Guards allowed. Yep. Interceptions.
14:27touchdowns allowed and passer percentage allowed. Yes. All right. So now we're going to repeat that. So Gonzalez, who was number one, he has a completion rate of 53.6 against him. Nephew was 48.5. This is last year's numbers. He has 508 yards allowed. Nephew had 333 yards allowed. He had zero interceptions last year. nephew had one and he allowed two touchdowns nephew allowed none and a pass uh completion rate of 57.2 for nephew and 79 for him it looks like he beat him in every category
15:26James Harrison:they don't show you what my look i i respect that too but gonzalez they don't count his pick and how he was balling in the playoffs. Do you remember? I understand. I understand what you're saying. Like I said, but we're talking pure numbers. We're talking pure numbers. You can't count the playoffs. Look, playoffs don't even count. Playoffs don't even count, but everybody's watching that. And that's when you're balling the playoffs, that adds volume. Okay. And you said you like Denzel Ward over Peasy, right? Technically, yes. Right. Technically, yes. So let's go and look at that. 59.3. Completion, 527 yards allowed.
16:05He has two interceptions. He also gave up four touchdowns. He got an 84.8 % passer rating allowed against him. It's only one thing here where he actually did better. I believe he's about three years older. And nephew is younger, and nephew is getting better each year. As you get older, you get a little slower each year, right, Joe, after you get around that, around that, especially for DBs. Around that 30 ball. How many DBs you know going to signing up a new deal at 30, 31?
16:38James Harrison:Denzel Warren, because you got to pay that. That's why he got the two-year extension. He got, right. He got the two-year because you got to do it. You got to perform at a high level every season now once you start getting older. And I think here is where we're, we're getting things misconstrued. That's it. Is that, Or I won't say that. It's a disconnect. It's a disconnect with the Steelers and reality. And being able to evolve and quickly adjust to what's going on with the numbers. Because I think a big part of this is that J.C. Horn and the deal he signed last year. What was it, last year? No, it had to be.
17:27It was last year? Of 2025. Okay, he signed a four-year, his$400 million. A year ago. No, let me take that back. That was 18 months ago he signed that deal. $400 million. He signed it. Right. He signed a deal for$400 million. Yes. With$70 million guaranteed. Ever wanted to try an Olympic and Paralympic sport? Try fencing. It's fast, competitive, and even offered at the NCAA level. 21:27Like I said, that was a year, 18 months ago. To be exact, 18 months ago, bro. Yeah. Okay. Now, since then, up to Gonzalez's, you're talking about almost 30s, 35, 40 % jump, 35 % jump at least. Okay. You're talking about an increase of 35 % right now. now from there i think that's where we're stuck at i really feel like that's where we're stuck at and when it comes down to it you have to adjust for what that contract would have been 18 months ago yeah that contract 18 months ago if it was made today would look more like 30 to 32 million a year, 60 to 64 million guarantees or something like that.
22:23Uh-huh. Like, sorry, it would be more than that. He got 70 guarantees. So you're talking about 80 to 85, maybe million guaranteed, something like that. Uh-huh. Like, he actually got 25 and 70 guaranteed. like and if I'm like if I'm nephew right now bro and I'm seeing this and you and I both know where he want to be around where he want to be and it's a balk on that or it's we can't get to there that's diabolically
23:06James Harrison:crazy when I'm looking at it Debo So when I'm looking at these deals and I'm looking at Devin Witherspoon and I'm looking at Christian Gonzalez, when we talk about, like you say, numbers and stats, I'm with that too. So I'm with the agent as well. You can't take one without you. Joey Porter Jr. on the highest level of how much money he should get. And these are the dudes that drafted in the same draft class. So Devin Witherspoon and Christian Gonzalez were first round picks. So they were still under contract, like we said, for an additional two seasons. Joey Porter Jr., he only has one year left.
23:39James Harrison:So when he gives these dudes their extensions, Christian Gonzalez was under contract for two more years at$20 million. Devin Witherspoon was under contract for two more years. Next season was five, and then with his fifth-year option, it was like$22 million. So he's under contract for two for$26 million. So when they give them their extensions, now they have them under contract for six years. Now six years add their additional money around$155 million. So they got him for six years,$155,$158 million, and$101 guaranteed. With Joey Porter Jr., our extension now is if we give him a four-year, say$30 million a year, that's$120 million.
24:16James Harrison:We have him now under contract for five years for$124 million. And that'd be averaging out about, what, five years,$125 million a year. I think that it's with the new money, the Steelers got to look at it like, end of the day, this is the market. He's playing against with these other guys. It's just the new money. They're not trying to, if they can't get to that 30 mark, I think - Right now, dude. And that's the thing. That's the crazy part about it, dude. You and I both know that man wasn't even in the 30 neighborhood, bro. No, no, no. Not even close to it. Like, what are we talking about? If I'm him and I'm sitting back looking at this and I know what it is and I'm seeing this, there's no way that I'm going to sit there and be like, I'm almost begging for what it was I was asking for versus what it is I know I can get.
25:21Huh? Yep. But if this ain't what you really want, man, why don't you just trade me or something?
Read the full transcript
25:27James Harrison:But this is the thing, too, Debo, like we said, the same way that the Patriots was talking about, they were so far away from Christian Gonzalez. Their numbers were so far. Like, nobody, we didn't know what was going to happen. Their game is on Wednesday. It can take to the 19th, to the 20th, to the last hour to be able to get the deal done. So that's what I'm hoping and praying that happens with the Steelers. But like we said, I think they're going to keep to their ways. Dude, if that's the case, if that's the case, we know the Steelers way. I know the Steelers way. The Steelers negotiate from a very low end, and they work their way up to it over a course of months.
26:05This man ain't get an offer until a week ago. And you telling me that all of a sudden we're going to change how we've operated? It's just going to spark. I'm hoping it does. I'm hoping it does. it's because it's because I'm telling you right now the guy that just got this deal done for Christian for Gonzalez who's agent
26:35James Harrison:who's Joey's agent I think Joey's with athletes first and I think and I think Gonzalez and Witherspoon I think Gonzalez and Witherspoon had the same agent both of them with Win Sports Group Gonzalez and And Willis, I think, had the same agent.
26:58I'm looking at right now, it's Gonzalez and Joey are both with Wynn Sports, according to that. Oh. Okay. So you think he's sitting there, go tell his boy, you think he ain't had or heard conversation or whatever it may be, ear hustling, somebody, whatever it may be that, you struggling over there, listen, I know he can go get it. I know he can go get at least, at least a 30 ball. That's right. Right now? You're telling me he not top five. Cool. He ain't top five. Is he six?
27:43James Harrison:Is he seven? Because I'm still 30. If he's six, if he is six, Like you said, with Witherspoon, with Gonzalez, with his agent and with these numbers, he could still be able to set the market. Once you're in that category. Right. That's what I'm saying. Once you're in there, Debo, I'm with you. I'm saying worst case scenario, it's a 30 ball. It's in there. I am with you. I am with you. That's just what it is. That's just how the market goes. You don't have to be. If you up there with the best, they like Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson. We got Pickens. When you in there, like everybody can say, no, he's, you have a reason to say he's the best.
28:23James Harrison:Or, no, I got a couple dudes that are better than him. But if you throw out that name, nobody's going to disrespect you. No, man, get him out of here. No, he's in the room. You know what I'm saying? So I may not put him at the top because there's certain little things that I like qualities as a corner that you can just do it all. So I think if he gets his little, but still six, that's not crazy. and that's still in there to be able to reset the market for another team. You know what I'm saying? For another team. If you were free, all teams, oh, they'd give Joey 34. But maybe with the Steelers, it's like this, look, we got the situation going on.
28:52James Harrison:We love you here. We want to pay you for your stuff. But you being comfortable here. That's what I'm saying. 30 million a year. $30 million a year isn't punishment. That's what I'm saying. It's not. If they already get to$30 million a year. So you're telling me right now, if they had ever got to 30, that we'd still be here having this conversation? Stop playing, bro. You and I both know that's a false. I know. I feel you. I feel you. I know. I know. I know. I'm just saying. It's not resetting 30-something, not 20, not 25, because it's not what it was when J.C. Horn signed. Right now, it's dudes in my class.
29:30James Harrison:I see them. They signed for$33 million a year. And that was only a year ago to them. And the numbers are the numbers. And the numbers are the numbers, the time that it took to get to where we're at now, which is 18 months, a 35 % jump. It is what it is. That's the working now. Because at the same time, that's why when we say like, and DB's, cornerback, the highest paid cornerback is making 33.7, right? The highest paid defensive end is making$50 million a year. So that's$16 million difference between the best defensive end and the best cornerback. So once you start from there, so that's why when we look at you can't be, or different people, you can't, like with Herbick having$25 million a year, that's half of the highest paid defensive end.
30:22James Harrison:The highest paid corner is 33, so half of that is around$16.5 million a year. So it's nowhere near with 25 for Joey Porter, 26. It's not like it's the same type of money. It's not like, no, we're paying you more than, like, you're getting paid DN. It's like, no, DNs are making 50. The highest paid corners are making 33. So it's still perspective of 27 as the highest paid corner. That's way higher. That would be like Nick Herbick making 42, you know what I'm saying, million dollars a year. In perspective of when you look at the highest paid to different positions, that's how one you kind of got to look at that.
30:57Yeah, I don't, I'm not, bro, I am not, I'm not very optimistic on this one right now.
31:11Yeah, we got what? What's today? Tuesday? When is it? Thursday? Friday? Saturday? We got three, four days. We got until, well, we got, what's, yeah, three, four days. We got three, four days, bro. We got three, four days to find out what's going to go down.
31:30James Harrison:I could see him now going to walkthrough, walking out the walkthrough, like the way Tewitt did it. They said Padamalu signed the day before the game. Not saying that it's the same exact player, but it's just contracts getting done at the last hour. I hope so, man. I hope so. I hope so, but I am not very positive about this. We'll stay over here with the Steelers. I guess Mike McCarthy told reporters that he won't use full season captains. Instead, he'll name captains for each week's game. Last year, the Steelers had four, obviously. Aaron, Cam, TJ, and Killebrew was the special teams guy. You like this, don't like this?
32:22James Harrison:What's your own? My take is when I first looked at it, I didn't really know what was going on. But I see that he done it. This is what he does. He did it in Green Bay. He did it in Dallas. So this is just how he rolls. You know what I'm saying? Like that he just doesn't do captains from the beginning of the season. And, I mean, to each his own. It's not something that I was used to. Normally, I know, like, you go through training camps, and then right before the season, you get the captain's name, and they just are the dudes that normally represent. But to each his own, I don't think there's no right or wrong way doing it.
32:55James Harrison:But I just see Mike McCarthy was on some just prove it. Like ball out, eye in the sky don't lie, accountability. I would see him being able to just rotate. If you're hooping, then okay, boom, you're going to be able to represent the team. This week is just fluent. You know what I'm saying? If you're not balling, like I can just be able to hold everybody accountable, captain or not. You could do it if they're a captain and still be able to hold them accountable. But I feel like as a coach, when you come in there and like, no, this is the way it is. I'm going, I can set the captains each week. He got the power to do whatever he want.
33:27James Harrison:What did y 'all do in Cleveland when you were there? We voted captains. So you voted or the coach picked? I think that sometimes the coach picked, sometimes we was able to vote. We just kind of switched it up. Oh, yeah, y 'all had a bunch of different head coaches. We had a bunch of different coaches, man. Seven different ways to skin a cat. How did you feel about when the coach picked it versus when the players picked? Because he will be picking captains even from here, but it will be for the year. Here's my thing. I don't like it. The reason I don't like it is because now I am picking who it is.
34:11I feel are the leaders on this team by how they practice on that field. That's cool. I understand that. That's a good thing. But some guys, even though they may have everybody on the field, should go hard. That's a prerequisite. That's a given. For sure. Now, what you got to realize is who they go follow. Who is going to lead them. Who is the guy that has the whole locker room, Not the guy that you want to have the locker room because you have his ear and he's going to put out what it is that you want pushed to the rest of the team. You're speaking facts, Debo. So when it comes down to that and you get in situations like that and actually you have it where the team is voting.
35:02I can use an error like that. So now you have it to where the team is voting. The team is voting and you go and you do the vote. Right. So you do the vote and everybody writes their vote down and they turn it in. Right. It counted out and you get your captains. Yep. Now. Somebody get voted a captain and you like what? What's the first thing you do? You go to your homeboys. Y 'all go to each other. How did they get captain? Who voted? Who voted? Who voted for this person? Who voted for that person? So now y 'all doing a personal count. Okay. And I know I have been part of, there's been other people that have been part of voting.
35:44James Harrison:Take your votes. Don't matter what your vote's talking about. It don't matter what your vote said. It don't matter what we tallied as a team. These going to be the captains. Because that was actually the coach's pick, not the player's pick. We had that situation. We've had situations like that. other players other team all that stuff you had situations like that so now that's why I don't like the coach picking it purely because I'm gonna follow he was the leader yeah like and you don't necessarily have to have that C on your chest either it's some dudes that you go follow and they ain't gonna say a word they gonna lead by example but when they talk everybody listening everybody listening yep yep yep everybody listening mmhmm this I'm that's why I that like I said that's the only reason I don't like it because now it seems
36:45more unnatural yes me picking a captain like you're picking your cat no that's why I like you're on the team is picked by your players and that's why when I always when when the vote is starting and everybody was doing a little you know send the thing and I'm like we use in high school, bro, we like, yo, if y 'all want to vote for captain, they put the name on the board. From there, you walk up to the board, you strike who you want. Now, everybody is playing. It's open. Now, all this, I don't understand the process.
37:17James Harrison:Yeah. Debo, I think this is, I really like that perspective of it, too, because end of the day, captains, for your team, if you really want to do it the right way, is, like you said, you're going to vote. Because leaders, when you in the locker room, when you see dudes, it don't have to be somebody that's talking, a rah-rah dude, somebody that the coach feels like is the best player, because they're the best player, you want to have a... It's obviously great to have your best players, you know what I'm saying, be the captain, but if they're not a dude that wants... Sometimes the best player doesn't want to be followed, you know what I'm saying?
37:48James Harrison:He just does football, this is what he does. There's other dudes that just, you lead by example, you see him, you see the way he works, you see the way he moves, and you're just going to vote for him just because he's a pro. I follow this dude because he practices what he preaches and he leads by example. He's not with the bullshit. So I want this dude to lead our team. And people would just, boom, captain, yep, I like him right there. He wouldn't even know it sometimes. Like, a captain's, you get appointed from your peers because they believe in you. 42:10James Harrison:They follow you, and it's not fake. You can't have fake juice. So I feel you. When the coach appoints it, it feels like, yeah, we're going to follow him because he's the best player. Like, he kind of coach rocks with him. But that real leadership comes from you can't really appoint that real leadership. You can only have the players follow. You're going to follow who you want to follow. You got grown men. I'm a leader. But when you see another grown man doing the things that he needs to do, working hard, being accountable, holding himself accountable, I'm like this. That's a grown-ass man right there.
42:39James Harrison:I can see myself following him. And he's not like, hey, come follow me. He's doing what he has to do. He's being a professional, and we see that. So other pros will gravitate to other pros that are doing things the right way. So with you saying that 100%, Debo, that's the way you get the realest captains. Yes. When your team votes for them, when your team literally is like this. Because you can't tell another grown man who is his captain. Who is he going to follow? That's like, okay, bet. Normally when you get it like that, majority of the people are voting for the same people. You know what I'm saying?
43:10James Harrison:Everybody sees the same damn thing. We're like, yeah, that's the dude that we're believing in. You know what I'm saying? Listen, you got captains that are literally what you said. They're captains. Now, listen, you got dudes that maybe the mouthpiece ain't a captain. He don't break us down. You can call him the rah-rah guy. He's the rah-rah guy. He got to get the guy. That's fine. Captain don't. I would hate it when you have somebody, the coach, be like, hey, so-and-so, break it down. I'm like, man, why they got this dude breaking it down? He don't have no juice. He about to piss us off. Right.
43:46what's going man he about to kill the whole move he about to say some old goofy soft Pillsbury Doughboy shit and we gonna be out here depressed and about to get our face kicked in coming out the tunnel like what the did he just say why what that even mean bro we have a conversation talking about what was that weak ass pep talking about what was he talking about
44:11James Harrison:fly with the birds fly like a butter in the stink I'm like, what? Come on, man. Get out of here. That's fake juice. That's fake juice. You're not getting me hyped. Bruh. I'm just joking. For real. Bruh. Hey. Hey, the Browns, they did the same thing, man. Hey, man, here go y 'all captains for week one, Joe. You got Deshaun Watson. You got Zion Johnson. You got Tyson Campbell, Mason Graham, and Rex. What is that name? Son of a Roof? Yeah. Okay. Ooh. Joe, anybody on here you surprised to see? Honestly, Tyson Campbell. I'm excited to see that. I'm excited to see Mason Graham, young, D-tackle, and Tyson Campbell starting corner.
45:04James Harrison:It's only we got him traded from Jacksonville. So that's good to see because I feel like if coach, I don't know how our captains were appointed. I don't know if we voted for them, or I don't know if Coach appointed them. So do you— Y 'all did the same thing we did. Your Coach appointed them. Okay. All right. I can appoint them. Okay. These was appointed. Okay. Now how do you feel about it? I still feel the same way, you know? How do you think the fans feel about it? Oh, the fans are hot. The fans are hot. The fans are probably hot. You know, the fans are going to be fans. They just don't, you know what I'm saying, they're going to feel some type of way.
45:49James Harrison:But this is why in the locker room, I don't know. I think Deshaun, he hasn't done nothing or said nothing in interviews about his team, about the way he feels about him in the quarterback competition with Shador. So in the locker room, I don't see friction. It's only like from the outside of, you know, just the way people feel about Deshaun Watson. So him rehabbing, him trying to get back right, and him working on himself to get back out there, inside of the locker room from the Browns team looking at him, I can see how they're like, okay, boom. He hasn't done anything besides try to get better and try to lead by example.
46:25James Harrison:So in the locker room, I can see that. From the outside looking in, it's definitely the Browns fans are not a big fan of Deshaun. They would definitely see like this is not a good feeling. But from coach, coach is like, look, this is our starting quarterback. This is who we've named our quarterback of the team in the locker room. He has done nothing to detour, to be him and Shador. Great relationship. Every time he's had those media things, he's handled, he's been trying to be media trained as possible. The preseason thing he did when he spazzed out, he said, like, I was in my emotions. I was in my feelings.
46:59James Harrison:That was the only thing he's done since he's been trying to recover from his ACL, from his Achilles joints. So from the coaching's perspective, I can see how they did it from outside looking in. Obviously, you know how the Brown, you know. I mean, we, you know, a little hot at Deshaun right now. Yeah. I mean, I'm saying, like, you know, I mean, I can see why, you know, maybe the fans would be upset, you know. But, you know, we just, I mean, the Steelers. We, that's what I'm talking about. We are the Steelers. We don't have problems like this. So I don't know exactly what that is like, how that feels, that process of that whole Browns.
47:39James Harrison:Listen, we kind of are the same right now as far as the captain situation, because Mike McCarthy, he doesn't have named any captains yet. So he's going to just be naming captains every single week. He's doing the same thing. That's what I'm saying. We both doing the same thing with the captain situation. Yo. Yeah. Yo. What's up? You both doing the same thing with the captain situation. Yeah. Don't do that, man, because now ain't the time, man. Now ain't the time. Yeah, man. You both doing the same thing with the captain situation, but check this strength of schedule out. Yes, I did. Y 'all did last.
48:19That's a good thing. That's a good thing.
48:21James Harrison:Yep. For y 'all. The Patriots was last year. Yeah. What was their record? They was good. I know. what was it? Like 13-3 or something like that? Something like that. 14-3 or something? I don't know what it was. 13-4? Something like that. So, what's y 'all record going to be, bro? What do you think y 'all record going to be? Listen. All right. It's going to be... It's going to be depending on... You're about to stutter. All right. Yes. I'm excited, Bebo. Y 'all got the weakest schedule in the league, Joe. I understand that. You can't get 500? 500 for sure. 500. We can get 500. We can get 500. 500 is 17 games, Joe.
49:08James Harrison:It depends on how... Depends on what, Joe? It depends on how we started off. Because look, listen to this, Debo. We play Panthers, the Jets, the... That's two. Titans, three. Saints, four. Raiders, five. We pay the Bengals twice. We won't get them once. Six. Falcons, seven. Giants, eight. Colts, nine.
49:42James Harrison:Y 'all going nine and eight? No, no. That's how, look, we don't have to win all of those. we could still, if we lose one of those, we'll be eight and nine. But those are nine chances that I think we could get. Those are nine victories where smooth. Smooth. Smooth. That's walking the stadium. Not walking the stadium. Not walking the stadium. Running it then. Every single one of our games. You got to go into the stadium, Joe. I'm not saying you'd walk into the stadium and just disrespect me. And I didn't even say when we're playing against, you know, the division game. I just said the Bengals one time.
50:18James Harrison:I didn't say nothing about, you know what I'm saying, the Ravens. We played them twice. And you know how it gets when we play each other. You know what I'm saying? We might want to. Yeah, you ain't got a chance. That's all I'm saying is, end of the day, we're not going to get everybody. Everybody all trying to sleep on the Browns. We still was losing some of these games by field goals, little things. We weren't getting blown out all the time. So that's what I'm saying. These tight games, if our offense does what I'm expecting it to do, our offensive line, running game. So, yeah, I'm liking Panthers, smooth.
50:53James Harrison:Jets, Titans, Saints, Raiders, Bengals, Falcons. Y 'all starting off 4-5-0? No, no, no, no, no. Because I didn't say we playing Jacksonville the first game and Tampa the second game. Those are our first two games. Oh, okay. I didn't even say them because those are tough. I'm not just being a blind fan right now. I'm really just shouting out, boom. What we could do off the rip. I mean, I was just, I don't know. Like, y 'all, damn, I can't even say y 'all picking captains because we doing that shit, too. Yeah. Damn. I can't even crash out on that one. I mean, say nothing about it. It don't matter.
51:32At least we know who our number two quarterback is.
51:36James Harrison:We ain't talking about. This is what I'm trying to tell you. That's Coach Todd. It could possibly be. Hopefully, the next question would have been, I need to know for sure. Does that mean that you're having Shador as an emergency quarterback? No, no, no, no. He said, they asked him if he could dress three. He said, no, that'd be extremely hard to dress three. Yeah, I had him on the side with a clipboard. This is what he was doing, though. This is what he was doing. What he was doing this was studying. Shador is still the backup quarterback. He's doing that to make sure that teams got a plan. And the Jacksonville Jaguars got to take a little bit more time when they scripting for their defense, having a plan for Taylor Green.
52:14James Harrison:Just a little, just throwing it out there. Having to play for Taylor Greene. Now listen, listen, listen. If he runs, because he's athletic. They got a plan for y 'all. This is what one of your Browns reporters tweeted out. And here's the Browns ESPN football power index going into week one. What would they have to plan for for a 30th ranked team in the NFL? What we got to plan for? All we got to do is go out there and play what we play. A less than 6 % chance, 5.4 % chance of making a playoff. 1 % chance to win. That shouldn't even be a percent there. I ain't going to lie to you. I ain't going to lie.
53:02It should be like point something, zero, point zero something of winning that. And then y 'all got a great chance, though, of that first pick of 2027, though. You understand that? Yeah. I don't know what they would go have to plan for, Joe.
53:28James Harrison:Debo, everybody, the Browns, we don't deserve right now the respect. I can respect it. Our offense hasn't been doing nothing. Our defense has been solid, and our special teams last year was kind of ass. So when they give us this, I can't be sitting here battling saying, oh, no, the Browns are going to be supposed to be great. We got to watch the tape. We've earned this. We've earned people to be talking crap about us, to be talking bad about us. So I got to sit here. I take it. I take it. I can't defend bad ball. You know what I'm saying? I want us to play good. So now when I go look at the tape and we're going to see what's going on, but all I can do is we drafted offensive linemen.
54:14James Harrison:We drafted wide receivers. We've tried to get our roster to be good. We drafted good tight ends last year. We got a good one. How long y 'all been doing that? No, I'm hearing, I'm hearing. Listen to me now. We've been doing it for a while. It takes a couple of them to hit. So now we're hitting. We're still young. and we have to get in the quarterback position though, Deebo, which you're not understanding. I understand. Everybody calling. Eventually, if we don't hit this year, we have two first round picks. If Deshaun Watson, obviously we're not going to keep him after this season. Then if Shador, he's going to get to see.
54:51James Harrison:So wasn't you a first round pick? And wasn't somebody a first round pick there again after you? And wasn't somebody like, wasn't? But you have a whole bunch of them high one to three to five first round picks. Sometimes we went and picked the wrong. We got the wrong pick sometimes. But you got to pick right, obviously. Pick right? Which one of your coaches picked right? Nail. Five, six, or seven. One, two, three, four, five, or six, or seven over there in Cleveland. How many did you have? I don't remember. How many head coaches do you have over there, Joe? What are we talking about? I have a lot.
55:26I have like six.
55:27James Harrison:Oh, Lord. Joe. How many years was there? I was there seven. I think I have now five head coaches then. Oh, God. Yeah. Good Lord, man. Oh, man. All I'm telling you is we're getting our offensive line. We have to start scoring points. Offensive line, running back, tight end, receivers. Now we have to find – like, we keep saying it. It's the quarterback position. So, it's your door to one. We're going to give him some weapons. If not, go get – you got to – Josh Allen was in the same draft as Baker Mayfield, as the same draft as what's my boy's name, I will never forget from UCLA, that went seventh pick overall.
56:11James Harrison:You said you'll never forget, but you can't remember his name. Rosen, Rosen, Josh Rosen. Josh Rosen went first round. So you got to pick right. You got to pick right. They picked Josh Rosen, Arizona Cardinals picked him before they picked up before Josh Allen. So I'm like, end of the day, people do jack up, but Browns, listen, when the quarterbacks are coming out, next year, pick your guy. You got to get the right one. We have two first-round picks. If we don't feel like you have them on the roster, you got to get them. Because all the other, everywhere else, besides the line, right now we're getting the receivers, running back, tight end, defense is solid.
56:45James Harrison:Tyson, Ward, Burse, Graham. Now just get us a quarterback so we can start scoring some points. Yeah. Yeah. All right, Debo. You need to start scoring some points. You need to start scoring some points. disrespectful. Listen, I can't even, but I, you be, you, listen here, man. Hey y 'all, listen, man. Jordan, Jordan took enough of a beat, man. I'm going to carry him on in the house, man. We're going to go ahead and let him go. The rest of the show, man. Ever wanted to try an Olympic and Paralympic sport? Try fencing.
