In short
Joe Hayden and James “Deebo” Harrison recap Joe’s weekend—attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding (via a friend from Cleveland), a Hamptons trip, and a risky Blade seaplane experience—then shift to NFL talk: Mike McCarthy’s offense with Aaron Rodgers (timing/discipline) and stadium field-surface concerns; they also discuss an NFL scout predicting Shedeur Sanders as the Browns’ Week 1 starter.
Guests (hosts)
James “Deebo” Harrison (host) and Joe Hayden (co-host). No additional guests appear in this transcript.
Guest backgrounds
Not applicable beyond their roles as NFL/sports commentators and hosts.
Key claims
- Joe says the wedding was a “spectacle,” he met Travis, and he believes Taylor and Travis are happy together (keeps NDAs).
- Joe argues Blade seaplanes require expert pilots; he “survived” a near-incident and later avoids seaplanes.
- McCarthy’s system success is timing-based; receivers must read coverage for Rodgers to execute.
- Actual Stadium’s Bermuda grass won’t solve issues because too many events/games prevent recovery.
- Browns should start Shedeur Sanders in Week 1; Watson isn’t a long-term option.
Notable examples
- Joe’s Hamptons-to-JFK travel delays (traffic) and seaplane “up and back down” scare.
- Steelers/Actual Stadium grass replacement debate; punts sticking in the ground example.
- Browns quarterback decision framed around 2027 draft planning.

Please make sure you like, subscribe, and download where you get your show. Hey, hey, Joe, how you doing today, Joe? I heard you was doing some things over the weekend, Joe.
3:59James Harrison:Brother Debo, I'm doing great. I attended some, you know what I'm saying, a beautiful, beautiful wedding. It's nothing but love. It was love in the air. That's all I got to say. It was love in the air. It was love in the air. It was love in the air. And I heard y 'all was kind of messing up people's, you know, electricity. They were shutting off shit and everything out there for you, you know. What was going on? Joe, listen, man. Tell me how was the festivities, Joe. Festivities, you know. You know I ain't getting no invite. You know I ain't getting no invite. They said, I was going to mess it up.
4:37James Harrison:You was going to come in there with the beater on. I knew that you would have got the invite. You would have came in there tuxedoed down. Flexed up. Dressed to impress. Flexed up. You know what I'm saying? And that's D-Bo. I came in there stepping. Did you see me? I came in there with the pocket watch on. I was clean, D-Bo. I was clean at the Board of Health. I'm going to tell you that right now. You was cleaner than the Board of Health. Joe, you was cleaner than the Board of Health. Cleaner than the Board of Health. I came in there with the pocket watch. You know what I'm saying? Long story short, I met my man Trav, though, a minute ago.
5:07James Harrison:You know, he's from Cleveland. So I got the invite, was super excited about it. Okay. A lot of familiar faces in the spot, Debo. I felt like it was real. You know what I'm saying? A lot of familiar faces. I felt like it was at the ESPYs slash the Grammys slash the Oscars. But me, I love love. I love love. You love the love. And I genuinely think Trav and Taylor are happy together. My man invited me to go to one of his games probably three years ago for Taylor's birthday. Invited us out there so me and my wife got to meet her. Kicked it with them. Great couple. I just want nothing but the best.
5:41James Harrison:So it was a spectacle. It was a sight to see. I'm going to keep my NDAs, you know what I'm saying? So just a lot of people there. It was amazing. It was a great time. Great function. Got to bump shoulders with a lot of good friends. Saw a lot of people that I haven't seen in a while. But it was fire, D-Bo. It was dope. Okay, well, what about what you do? Anniversary, all that stuff. You had a lot of stuff going on on the weekends, y 'all? Yes. So then, that's why I'm still right now. We went to the Hamptons. Brought my lady out to the Hamptons for the first time. You know what I'm saying? Had to go see what that was like.
6:11James Harrison:Got a little nice spot. Got a little hotel at the Topping Roads. You know? Some friends were out there. We ended up doing some shopping at East Hamptons. A little lunch. Watched the World Cup. Okay. You know what I'm saying? So we've been doing a little bit of that. Yesterday, I was supposed to get my flight. I was supposed to be home right now. But the weather was crazy out here. So I had to end up staying at the Hyatt next to JFK Hotel. which is connected to a daggone casino. I didn't know. So I'm in this hotel right now, Debo. Jimmy rigging it off my phone. But I'm with my lady. We're still in New York.
6:46James Harrison:We're having a great time. So that's why the scenery is one of the things. Sarah downstairs. I told her, I can't have you in the room when I'm on my pod. I got to chat. Me and Debo. That's crazy. She going to be sitting there looking at me like saying stuff. Listen, I need to say, hey, what's up? Holler at her. Holler at your boy. Like, what you talking, man? Okay. No, man. I had to send Sarah down. You don't want her to take your shine. Get some lunch. You know what I'm saying? Gave her my voucher. I get tired of looking at your ugly face all the time, Joe, man. I gave her my voucher. I gave her my voucher.
7:18James Harrison:She about to go hit the slot machines. You know what I'm saying? Might do a little blackjack down there. So, you know what I'm saying? So, she was like this. I'll be fine. I'm like, yeah, I bet you are. You are going to be fine. Yeah. How much you need? She said about this much. Literally, Deebo. That much? She gave me a pen. Just fill up my fingers right here with a little wad. A little wad that can just - Don't fold it either. Lay it flat. Make it flat? Diva, I folded it. I double folded it. I folded it, and then I folded it again just to try to make it thicker. I said, yep, that right there about 750 with 20s and all in there.
7:54That's a guy to do it for you. Oh, man. Good job. Good job, man. Listen here. Thank you, brother. Happy anniversary belated. All that good stuff again. Thank you. Glad you had a good time, man. You say that was, what, 12, 13 years? 13 years, Debo. 13 years, man. 13 years. Looking forward to another 50 or 60 of them things. You know what I'm saying?
8:16James Harrison:Thank you. But, Debo, I got to tell you one thing that happened, too. It was a little crazy. I need to stay on land. I need to stop doing all the dumb stuff. Like, I be doing too much. I really realized it. so we're going from the hamptons to um we're going from manhattan to the hamptons so it's like two and a half hour drive right so everybody's like oh no the traffic's gonna be crazy it's like two and a half hours maybe three hours but there's a little blade service where you can get a little where you can get a little a little helicopter that can take you from manhattan to uh to um to the Hamptons, and it takes 30 minutes.
8:56Right?
8:57James Harrison:So I say, oh, man, yeah, we'll crush two hours of the time of the travel. Okay, so the app is called Blade, Debo. It's called Blade, and it can take you as either a helicopter or a seaplane. Do you know what a seaplane is? Yes, sir. I did the seaplane. I did Alaska, remember? I did not do the seaplane, Debo. I did not know what a seaplane is, and I will never get on the damn seaplane again. How are we going to go to Alaska then? No, no. Well, it must be better seaplanes out there than our seaplanes. Because we had to take off, and there's people in the water. So we get on the boat, and now we're going, and we need—it's 4th of July.
9:38James Harrison:So it's boats all over the place. So we need a little bit like a longer way to take off. We start going to take off, and boats start coming, so we go up, and then we come back down. Boom! I'm like, oh my God, me and my old lady, we're like this. Oh my goodness. Is this supposed to happen? Hell no! Is the seaplane ever supposed to go up and come back down? Deebo, we went up and came back down. So now I'm spooked. Me and my lady spooked. Long story short, 10 minutes later, we found a little more runway. We took off with the seaplane and we made it, right? The next day, Deebo, I see the seaplane done crashed, but everybody was okay.
10:15James Harrison:Everybody survived. All eight survivors. they had the thing for the people on the seaplane. Seaplane, it landed, it landed, and then the little wing came down. Nobody got hurt or nothing, but the same seaplane. My wife was like this. But my wife was like, baby, that was our seaplane. Our seaplane went up and came back down. I don't think it was. It's the same company. It was Blade. I'm like, I don't know how many seaplanes they have going from this place to the next place. I was like, baby, they probably got three plays. I'm going to say, babe, I told her, I think it's 50-50 it was our seaplane.
10:43James Harrison:She was like, you better give me 70-30. That was our seaplane. I'm like, sir, I can't do that. But you might be right. I don't, them sea, D-blo, I need to stay my ass on land. I be doing too much. No more blame for me. The problem with them seaplanes, man, is you need real pilots. So you got these pilots that come off these flights on, you know, like these jets and all that. Dude, you need a bush pilot, dude. And that's what we work with. Well, you need somebody that knows how to fly theirself. Listen, they got to be like an expert in that, dude. Dude, because you're talking about they moving three, four different parts.
11:18They doing this. They flipping this. They doing that. Yes. We have to adjust it. It ain't flying itself like you do the Jets. No, it's not. You do a clicker here. You play with the joystick here and all that other bullshit. They got the pulling battles and things. They got the feet stopping to get to going. Man, I'm looking at dude like, ooh-wee.
11:36James Harrison:I'm like, are you about to pedal us into the air? Yes. I'm thinking we're instantly supposed to go, but I didn't get to dropping the stuff in the middle. I'm like, oh, my goodness. What is everybody doing? So, yeah, that was crazy. That was crazy. But safe, good, everything. How'd you get back, Joe? Did you take the plane back? We sat in traffic for three and a half hours to get back. I'm kidding, people. Are you kidding me? I'm not getting on no more sea plane. It was the most traffic in my life. We said that my wife, we were sitting there dead solid. We didn't move for 40 minutes in the traffic.
12:12James Harrison:So it said it was supposed to take us two hours and 30 minutes. It took us three hours and 30 minutes to get from the Hamptons back to JFK. But I didn't care. I was watching The Wire. I started cutting on TV shows. I'm sitting in that car like, hey, I mean, what do you want from me? Do you remember what you look like in that seat plane? Yes. Okay, we're chilling. Watch The Wire with me right here. Like, you know what I'm saying? Did you miss Love Island? Like, get on Peacock. We're chilling. Do something. Do something. Listen, we ain't got time to be playing. We're living. We're living. We're living.
12:40Oh, my goodness. Listen, Joe. Yeah, don't want to see playing. Listen, man. You got to swim out of that plane, too, once it crashed. That's for sure. You got to swim out of that thing, too.
12:49James Harrison:I know how to swim. The only good thing is that you can hold on to it because the whole thing ain't going to sink. Yes. The whole thing ain't going to sink. It's supposed to be able to just land on water, so you're supposed to be safer. He ain't know what he is doing, dude. And you got to hope that he and you know, they come in to do the land. If they do the nose dive into the boom. Oh, man. Oh, see, no, no, no, no, no, no. But the crazy part was, D-Bo, we just took off from the water and we landed on land. Oh, they had one of them. They ain't have a real seaplane. They had us in between. See, dude, he wasn't a real.
13:23We had a tweener. Y 'all had that fake stuff, man. You ain't had a real, real, real seaplane. I had the seaplane, man, where I'm sitting up there in the front with him. And he working the joystick and all that. And I'm literally got my arm like this just to have room. So he working all that. I'm here. We in there tight, y 'all. It was feeling good, too. I ain't going to lie to you. It was feeling good. I realized that he was doing the thing. He had the skills, man. I was looking at it. I was watching it. He wasn't flinching. When the plane did a little bitty-bop, he just adjusted a little bit.
13:52You know this and that, man. You know what I'm saying? He was doing that. That's what he did. He was a bush pilot. That's all he did.
13:57James Harrison:So you felt comfortable because you already knew. I was comfortable, bud. And then they put us in the big one. And the big one had like eight seats in it, six, eight seats in it. I was like, oh, Lord, this was good. Like the one we had before, it was four seats now. Okay, no. We was in an eight-seater. Cats like me, my size, sitting in there. See, no. Did y 'all have to weigh y 'allself? Oh, yeah, we did. But we had an eight-seater with four people in it. So they were trying to figure out my luggage could only be 25 pounds. Me and Sarah, our first time on a seaplane, we came with the Tumi. We came with the whole luggage.
14:28James Harrison:They're like, look, we're going to see how many people are on it. It was only four people on there. So we was able to bring our luggage. They're like, ah, the weight distribution. Now I'm like, is it the Tumi that's bringing us down? I don't know. Hey, listen. And you got to be like, okay, you got to sit here. You got to sit there. Yes, you balancing it out. Because that's what I do. It was crazy, bro. I ain't going to lie. It was good, though. It was good, brother. I'm glad you made it back safe, man. I'm glad you had the foresight to be like, you know what? We going to go ahead and take this three hours.
14:57You know what I'm saying? Keep my ass on land because they ain't flying right over there.
15:00James Harrison:We almost drove from the Hamptons all the way back to Virginia. I'm not getting on no more planes. I'm just going to get us there. You know what I'm saying? Joe, you can't go that far now. Now you're tricking, Joe. I know your travel arrangements always get messed up real bad, Joe. I'm trying to figure out, like, I don't know why. The weather. The weather. I mean, these planes be just canceling. Okay. I'm on the way to the airport. The weather, the cartel, who knows what the hell, you know? What the hell? 430 flight. I'm headed to the airport. Now you tell me I'm delayed to 645. Now I'm almost there.
15:38James Harrison:Now you're telling me I'm just canceling it. Ooh. Yeah. Come on, now. We got 140 in the chat, 36 likes. Come on, now. Get up, then. Come on, man. Stick here. We going to step on over here to this football. I survived the sea plane. Yes. Like for Joe's survival. Like for Joe's survival. Thank you. God. Damn. Listen, every time Joe goes somewhere, man, we got to sit there and pray, man. We got to drop to our knees and make sure that he get back. We need a prayer circle. Anytime Joe say he going somewhere, man. I'm telling you. Y 'all pray for Joe. He flying to Cleveland today.
16:18James Harrison:I'm flying back to Virginia later on today. I got a 440 flight back to the crib. Is Brian going to Cleveland with you or are you going to Virginia with you? Where are y 'all going? You talk to him? Yeah, because I know you was in his closet after you stole all his jersey. Man, we going. No, no, we're going to Virginia. He ain't tell me yet. I know you can tell your boy everything, and I just sit there, and I just be like, yeah, I know it, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Devo, I'm telling you, you a vote. You a vote. Hey, hey, hey. You ain't going to let me. I tried to tell you. You ain't going to tell nobody. I tried to tell you. That's one thing I learned about you, bro. You ain't going to tell nobody. You ain't going to tell nobody. I ain't telling nothing.
22:04Hey, that's between you, me, and God. That's it. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. That's it. Look here. Aaron Rodgers, okay? Mike McCarthy's offense. He said Aaron Rodgers said Mike McCarthy's offense is all about quarterback timing. Rodgers said he knew exactly what he needs to do in McCarthy's system. And it's about having it's about him having his timing down with his teammates. He said it's just the next generation of the West Coast offense. It was kind of it went kind of bill wash to kind of like Mike was doing with Paul Hackett. and then it kind of grew from there from a real fundamental level it's all about the quarterback's timing i spent 13 years in mike mccarthy's offense he changed some stuff when he was in dallas am i getting an echo he changed some stuff when he was in dallas it's stuff that we used to run but he just called it something different now joe yes sir now look here i got another one for you though former quarterback former nfl quarterback rich gannon on mike mccarthy he said this he said i really feel like he said i really feel looking back like i wasted the first seven years in the league i'm not going to criticize other coaches but if i had someone like mike he's talking about mike mccarthy in the first half of my career it would have been a lot different He just made me a lot better player.
23:33Mike just took it to another level. He said, I was almost 30 years old before I learned how to prepare for a week of football. I had blinders on for the first seven years. I wasn't exposed to that type of preparation. I owe a lot to him. The attention to details was like nothing I had ever seen. He's head and shoulders above everyone else. Look here, man. What do you feel? What's your anticipation, man, of what you think that we're going to get from this offense, from Mike McCarthy's offense? And how do you see them? Improvement or no improvement? Like, what do you see? What is your anticipation of seeing from our offense?
24:20James Harrison:I'm anticipating our offense being a lot, a lot better. Light years better, honestly. I just think as far as discipline-wise, us being able to establish the run game, and then with Aaron Rodgers being able to hit our receivers as far as Pittman, D.K. Metcalf, and our big tight ends with Firemouth and Mount Washington. I think it's going to be a balanced split. Everybody's going to be able to execute on a high level where we're coming in and out of the huddle. We're actually having people off balance. Everybody knows what we're doing. Nobody's jumping off sides. So just when we see, when I look at Aaron Rodgers and I looked at Green Bay in the way, offense was never the problem.
24:58James Harrison:They were always political offense, scoring points, running down the field. Dak Trescott, Dallas Cowboys have always had an amazing offense, being able to score points and move the ball and be able to do that. If our offense, with the players that we have, is disciplined and we're able to take those shots, being able to stay ahead of the sticks with our run game, being able to take advantage of Mount Washington and fire move in the slot. our offense is going to be unbelievable. So I think that with Aaron Rodgers being able to be that, still be the quarterback with everything above the neck, when Tom Brady, when he's older quarterbacks, you don't have to fucking be fast or quick or run around.
25:35James Harrison:You need to be smart. You need to know where you're going. The execution of defenses are defense, but when you know what somebody's going to do, when you're undressing them with your emotions and just being in a comfortable state, you're in attack mode. You're not worried about kind of what they're doing. and they're trying to play on what you're doing. So I'm thinking with our offense, if we can just get run game established, we're not self-inflicted wounds, no pre-staff penalties, we're ahead of the sticks. It's just, look, no turnovers. Aaron Rodgers not throwing over the ball. We're not just fumbling the rock.
26:03James Harrison:If they do get us off, we punt the ball and our defense goes out there, gets us in good field position. We play field position games, kick field goals when we need them. It's just going to be execution. I see it being at a very high level. When we talk about timing, that's everything. The receivers need to be at the right spot at the right time with the quarterback. Everybody's on the same page. You're not just working on this slant. You got to get off that slant because he expects you to be somewhere in the time you're there. None of that juicing on the line. No, get to your spot because the ball's going to be there.
26:33James Harrison:So I'm just, when they're saying things, it's coaches make players so much better because, like, you can already be a great player, but your coach is going to put you in a position to win and actually help you out. So, like, some coaches don't. There's nothing that you can give me. As some cornerback coaches that I had, it's like, okay, you can tell me what to play. But, like, what's my man that played? The old safety that played corner. Coach Cartwright. Coach, what's the corner? He played for the Steelers, and he was my coach, my first coach. His son. Oh, you're talking about Lake. Yes, Lake, Lake.
27:08James Harrison:How about Corner Lake? If compared to Lake and not Dotsana, but compared to Scrap, I'm getting knowledge to where he's helping me out. I got all the game I got, but like, damn, he's putting me in a position where, boom, Joe, look at this. When you see this three by one, he's giving me nuggets of game that other coaches just may not know. So I'm like, Mike McCrunkie, you've been in here for a long time. You know nuggets. So now you and A-Rod, y 'all are talking the same language. You're telling your offensive players, everybody in this, the whole O-line, the running backs, the linebackers, I mean, the tight ends.
27:42James Harrison:Everybody knows where we need to be, what we need to do. We're moving to the same drum. So I'm just loving everybody on the same page. And if they can do that, then yes, Mike McCarthy, you're going to have our offense looking like it was when you were in Green Bay, scoring points when you were in Dallas with Dak Prescott. The offense with him always looks good. Yeah, Joe, this is what I'm going to do, Joe. I'm going to go back to that Rich Gannon. Now, Mike McCarthy coached Rich Gannon. He was the quarterback's coach, I believe, from 95 to 98 in Kansas City. So that was seven years into his career, as he said.
28:23And with him, with Gannon, you know, crediting Mike McCarthy with basically getting him to play and understand basically defenses, his film study preparation you know mentality of just playing the quarterback position and then in what was it 20 2001 2002 sorry 2002 that man was nfl mvp again it was nfl mvp like so again it goes to you know what you know roger said like you know it's an advantage of being in Mike McCarthy's system is that you have to get to the line of scrimmage with plenty of time on the play clock. So you can read the coverage. You can communicate with your receivers. You can communicate with your O-line.
29:12You can make your audibles. You know, I feel like that is something that if you go back to last year, when you and I were talking and we found out that the receivers couldn't read the defense. Like, we couldn't believe that, bro. We're sitting there like that. Like, how is that possible? That's like when you play defense and you get the shallow crosser coming across and you go and you take it and you bite the cheese and you hit down on that crosser, they go hit that deep crosser right behind you. That dig right behind you. Right. Like, you're taught that. You know what I'm saying? Like, you have to be taught that to understand that.
29:49and when it's you know an inability of your receivers to read coverage it's going to handicap your offense and it's going to handicap the quarterback you know yeah matter of fact i ended up calling ben and i'm like hey ben like if your receivers can't read coverage or defense like how much does that hurt you and he's like you know depending on you know different things he's like it can be detrimental and then he's like sometimes it don't matter because of you you know, whatever it's called. And how many times did we, you know, hear, you know, where the quarterback is like, the receiver just, we just looked at each other.
30:24Why? Hey, that's the look where he's like, yo, you see what I see because you're reading what I'm reading. I'm going to hit you and you keep going. But if your receivers can't read the defense and aren't being coached how to read it, you lose the ability to improvise and add another dimension to your offense dude like and this is what he's talking about like it's timing based and now it's in a premium on mental processing which means it's a premium on what coaching and now it's not just physical talents the players can have the talent all they want but if they aren't mentally capable the player he can't he can't get it done because sometimes he's not being coached how to get it done.
31:12You can have the best players in the world. And if they don't know what they're doing or how to do it, they go look average. And I believe with the improvements McCarthy has made on the coaching staff, okay, we are going to see a greater improvement with success on our offense because Aaron Rodgers has a great understanding of the offense. And now it has to be taught to the other guys so that they have a greater understanding. And through working together, the OTAs, you know, coming into training camp to get to work, they get to work on that timing. Okay. You get to get an understanding and knowledge of everything else that he has.
31:57And now you get that look because you have players that can actually read what's going on. And, you know, I'm not going to lie, dude. I'm kind of excited to see how this rolls out. You know what I'm saying? And when you think about it, dude, like Pittman, I think Pittman could have the best year that he's had so far because he's a great route runner. He uses his body for positioning. He's a great, like in traffic, he can catch that ball with his hands, you know, and he can read defense because he can find soft spots in zone coverage. When you're in zone coverage, your receivers, they can't keep running the same route they're supposed to run.
32:38They got to sit down because all you're going to do is cross you in one zone. You got to find that hole in the zone. Sit down. Yeah. And then, again, as you said, the usage of Friar Mooth, especially compared to what it was last year, that's going to go up. You add Washington to that. You add Mount Washington to that. And then, because of those two, three guys right there, I think DK is going to have a good year as well. Now, because you get him to get those free one-on-one deep ball opportunities that allow him to use his strength, his speed, his size over them DBs that's trying to cover it. How he manhandling them, one-handling them, all that.
33:18Like, dude, I'm excited to see how this offense is going to go. I'm super excited about it, D-Bo.
33:24James Harrison:Because like you said, too, this is the thing. once they get into that film room and they start studying the tape, they got to know what's going on. Because if they're out there thinking, that's when you start moving slow. Like you got to know because that's where the guesswork is like, oh no, am I sure that this is what I need to be doing? No, no, no. We need to know what you're doing immediately because that's how you play fast. Like when you know what you're doing, you see dudes running around quick. When you see somebody take that little hesitation step because it's like, I don't believe I know exactly where I'm going, so I'm going to still move around with a question mark.
33:58James Harrison:I'm like, no, no, no. We need you to know where we're going. Check in with A-Rod, boom, and now we're hitting it. You know what I'm saying? That extra, that little slack, that slow step. No, no, no. We need y 'all to know. Yes, we need you to know. We need you to be coached to know what it is that you got to do so that when you get out there, it's done. It's not, oh, go out there and ball out. No. Motivation ain't going to go down the damn thing for me. I need knowledge. I need understanding. I need you to execute. Yes. Like, come on, baby. That's what we need. Look here. I'm excited for it. Also, Actual Stadium has gotten a new grass surface.
34:37Precision Turf announced on Wednesday that it's installing Tomahaw 31 Bermuda Grass. Okay. My gracious, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That Bermuda got you. Yeah. Earlier this year, Steelers owner, Art Rooney II, acknowledged that the grass field, which drew an F - in the annual NFLPA report cards, would be replaced. He also left a door open to potentially switch to artificial surface, and the new version doesn't perform as intended. If the new version doesn't perform as intended. Joe, Joseph, what do you think of this? Do you think it will help? Do you? What do you think the changing of this would do?
35:27Is this Bermuda grass, Debo? Please, is that regular grass? That's the stuff that I believe is on golf course. You should know that, right, Joe?
35:37James Harrison:Okay. Yeah. I mean, yeah. Joe, here's the problem. Here, here, let me stop. Do we still wear cleats? Can you still wear cleats on that? Yeah, here's the problem, Joe. I got you. I got you. Here's the problem. Please. The biggest issue that we have is that it's too many games played on that surface, period. I don't care how many times you change the surface of that. It's not going to work. It's going to get terrible in that stadium because you have Pitt playing on that surface. You have us playing on that surface. And then you have the high school playoff games playing on that surface in November.
36:21OK, so when you look at it, you got what they say, 25 games or more that are playing on that surface. And that's before we even get to the playoffs. Okay So Six months You're saying You're talking about An average of Six months 25 You're talking about An average of a game a week Right Okay When that breaks down It's not It don't seem bad It don't seem bad But some of these games Are played Back to back Now You add into it Weather Okay Weather Rain You're trying You're talking about A surface that in like good conditions, like, you know, like, like, like, like Carolina, like, like Florida type conditions.
37:13When you play on that surface as a football team, NFL football team, it's seven days. It could be anywhere. It could be short as three, they said, but as long as seven for the recovery of the grass because grass needs time to recover. Just like the players, it's real. It's alive, it's growing. And that's in good weather. You're talking about August, you know, September, you know, October, early October. That's in good weather. Now, you add into that bad weather, which we have a bunch of, okay? Oh, for sure. And it could take up to three to six weeks, though, or longer if you have to actually re-side the surface, which we do a lot of re-siding to try and change the surface so that...

First of all, how do you even keep track of everybody?
41:17James Harrison:And second, do you have favorites? Who are they and why? Yeah, I need to know about this. Okay. I don't know where the number's 60. I've really got to figure that out. And I could actually have over 60. I just need to really know that number. There have been plenty of sheep in my bed. It's a big bed. In the bed. Literally sleeping in the bed. Yeah. Plus, we find out what she really feels about Stranger Things ending. Five seasons, almost 10 years of your life. I could have never have guessed it. I started when I was 10 years old. You're the only person I know that loves a yellow starburst. It's lemonade. There's no one that you need, like, you say, I'd like to collaborate with this person. This is Sweet 305. Listen to Sweet 305 with Lele Pons as part of my Cultura podcast network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It has something to grip onto. Now, when you get into, what is that, that November time frame where you got all these high school games playing on this surface, okay?
43:05The recovery time is limited. And on top of that, you got bad weather. It's November. Then you get into, what is it, December and January, they said the grass in that time, because of the weather, it's not even growing. They said it's dormant for the most part. So you're saying, you know, the damaged areas usually won't regrow until the spring, bro. And that's why they rely on replacing sod rather than waiting for it to recover because it won't recover till the spring. until the Steelers have their own stadium that only they play in, this will be a problem. It will continue to be a problem. Hell, and that don't even add the other events that they have at the stadium.
43:58James Harrison:The concerts. Right. It's not going to get any better. It's always good early in the year. And then as you get through the year, you start changing from your little speed cleats to your seven studs you start changing from your seven stud half inch to your to your three quarter inch damn yep and you're just digging in dirt why because everybody is tearing up the field it's not having time to recover because there's too many things going on on the field there's too many people playing on the field and the field hasn't got time to recover playing and going to a artificial turf surfaces that's the best thing as far as their usability of it, but as far as the health and safety of the players, it should be grass.
44:42James Harrison:Yeah. Break it down. It's simple. You got to be able to have it to where it's just one team playing in there. Pittsburgh Steelers. We shouldn't be staring stadiums with a college team and all the high school teams, plus every other event that you got going on in there. You may be able to get away with the events that you got going on in there. You know what I'm saying? But you can't have that going on. You got 10, 12 games going on a week in November because of all these high school playoff games. And that's when it's the worst. Like, dude, we had a game where the ball just stuck into the ground when we was playing, bro.
45:15They tried to re-side it, bro. We was playing against Miami. Punt just went boom. Half the ball was in the ground. The other half was sticking out.
45:22James Harrison:Straight up. Debo, you just speaking straight facts because the beginning of the season always starts. The fields are immaculate because the weather's good. You know what I'm saying? and then you start playing. And then once you start to get around the, like, December, these fields are trashed. And like you said, too, when people keep playing on it, it takes time for it to recover. When you start bringing out those seven studs towards the end of the season, you're not lying. I play corner and I would have to bring out them seven studs because I'm like, what I'm not going to do is slip because the grass is, everybody you're playing in, some of these spots are like dirt.
45:58James Harrison:You know what I'm saying? So, it's a money thing. Dude, some of it is actually It's sprayed green at times. You done seen it where it's sprayed green. You're like, dude, that's dirt on top of that. No, that's dirt right there. That's dirt right there. No, for sure. For sure. It is a fact that we know, like, if it's too many people playing on the fields, like, that's what messes it up. It's a living, breathing surface. It needs time to recover from what we're doing to it. And when you have multiple sports, especially the number that we have going on, you cannot give it the time that's necessary.
46:34It needs to be one team playing on it. Pitt needs to find their own place or the Steelers need to find their own place. The high school teams need to find somewhere else to do what they're doing if we're going to have a surface that is dedicated to the player safety of the NFL players, which it should be.
46:48James Harrison:Yep. I'm with you a thousand percent. We got to find a way to do it because, like you said, when they – it's a money thing too, Debo, when they're using those for, like, other events. So that's how I'm like – I understand it. But if we're always talking about end of the day, you want the best product because the main thing is the main thing. If you really want to, like – it's the football stadium for the Pittsburgh Steelers. So you want them to have the prime surface to be able to play on it all the time. So if that does mean – that's a big college. We need to get you a stadium. You know what I'm saying?
47:21James Harrison:Like the high school games, the state championship, we can do one in there. That's okay. I don't think we should do that either. I don't think we should do that either. I think they should go ahead and use that at Pitt Stadium. Yes, at Pitt Stadium. But Pitt's good stadium for sure. Right. You get a stadium for Pitt for them by themselves. You take all that extra stuff away. And if you want to still be able to use the service to do other things, then you can find a way to try and put things down and protect it or whatever it may be. I don't know. Pitt might got to do turf. Hey, like I said, I don't know.
47:59I don't know. Something got to give. Something got to give. Listen, something got to give, man. Hey, it's about player safety, man. You need – just get two grass fields, man. You know what I'm saying? I don't – I mean –
48:14James Harrison:It's making it so difficult, Debo. Yeah, it's not – Everybody act like they don't have no bread for no grass. I mean, and like I said, I can see like high school level and all that. It's a big difference between trying to take care of a high school field and what you're doing there and all that other stuff. I can see turf on that, but make sure you get good quality turf. Nothing that's going to be detrimental to the kids' health. I can understand that. But you're talking about professional athletes. You're talking about billion-dollar corporations. And we're talking about playing on the turf to save a couple hundred thousand or a couple million dollars.
48:46and you're talking about you're making billions.
48:49James Harrison:Stop it. Turf for high schools and colleges. I mean, high schools, that's because just where it's going to be, it'll last a lot longer. It'll last a lot longer. People that can be able to go take care of the grass to keep it the way. But, like, when we're talking about NFL, these groundskeepers, that's what they do. They're professionals to keep this grass perfect. For sure, brother. For sure. Let's go on over here to Cleveland, man, because it's an NFL scout that predicts Browns to start Shador Sanders in week one. NFL scout said, Cleveland needs to figure out what it has in Sanders. They already know what Watson is, and it hasn't been good.
49:28Even if he were to bounce back from the Achilles injury, Watson isn't a long-term option for the Browns. Personally, I think Shador would be given the starting job. they are going to need to make a decision in the 2027 NFL draft about whether or not they need to pursue a quarterback. Giving Sanders a full season will be the best way to figure out that answer. Joseph, brother, what do you think it is? What do you think about the prediction by an NFL scout?
50:08James Harrison:The prediction that he's saying, it's a prediction that I wanted to happen, my most likely scenario. Why would you want that to happen, Joe? Why would I? Yeah. Because I think that I know Deshaun Watson, he's not the future for the Cleveland Browns. We drafted Shador Sanders last season. Dylan Gabriel also. We had him, Dylan Gabriel had his chance to play. I don't think he's going to be a starting quarterback in this league. So now we have Shador Sanders. he looked like there's a potential for him in my opinion to be a starting quarterback so now with the new pieces that we have on this team let's in the line let's give him a valid shot with the new coach to see if he's going to be the guy or we need to go move on and get another quarterback in the future because i know deshaun isn't going to be the one right now i know because from what we had early on you said you thought deshaun would be the starter though because i'm saying because of the owner and because of they evaluate because they invested the money into him if it's me i've always said from my perspective i wanted shador sanders to be the starting quarterback but if the sean watson is the starting quarterback i'm rooting for him i want the best and i know why they're doing it because they owe him a lot because they paid him a whole lot of money and they want to get something out of their investment and hopefully if he's healthy he's been doing everything the right way so they would want to give him the shot that's what i'm seeing for me I'm rocking with Shador still because he's younger.
51:34James Harrison:We've already given Deshaun the money. He's already been out there to give us the opportunity to see what he can do. He wasn't playing that well, in my opinion. So now I'm going to go with my younger, cheaper quarterback to see. What about wanting to win? What if he gives you a better opportunity to win now? That's what I'm saying. During training camp, I'm thinking that Shador is still going to show. Sorry, I'm talking about Watson. Watson, you think he'd give a better chance to win? What if he gives you a better opportunity to win now? You know what I'm saying? I'm looking at it. We still have training camp.
52:03James Harrison:They're still in a legitimate quarterback battle. I'm hearing what people are saying sometimes, like Deshaun is, oh, you're hearing good from him one day. Then you're hearing that Shador may be playing better. So it's just, you know how that goes. We still got training camp. We still have offseason, I mean, what's it called? Offseason, not a preseason game. Preseason. Training camp. Training camp and preseason. So they both have to go out there and still play and perform. And I'm thinking if Shador still is doing how I think, getting better in the pocket, making better decisions, knowing what's going on, knowing the whole entire offense, being really in tuned, I'm thinking that he's going to come out there and perform and maybe beat him out in training camp and in preseason.
52:44James Harrison:So if this happens, I think Shador will be the starting quarterback. And then we're going to see if he's going to be the quarterback for the future. Like, give him a real shot with a real line, with some real weapons, and a coach, Munkin, that's a good coach, that believes in him, that said that he would have drafted him before. So let me see what's going on, and then I can really give a good chance to be like, Shador, okay, you're doing good, you're doing bad, you're throwing these picks. I can really get a chance to evaluate him with talent around him, with a good team, and reps. Like, now I don't have no excuse for Shador not to look good.
53:21James Harrison:But if he's making these passes, if he's just spinning around in the pocket, taking unnecessary sacks, that's on you, Shador. Wow. I'm going to be like, dang, take a step back. You got it. You got some growing. You know what I'm saying? So I'll be able to watch the tape and see what's going on. But from last season with the team that we had and the weapons that he was playing with, I want to give him another shot with some fresh weapons with a coach that believes in him. And let's go see what he can do, because it was only his rookie season one year. You know what I'm saying? Now you got an offseason.
53:49James Harrison:Rookie season is a big time. you're a quarterback now you're learning you did everything you had to do in the offseason let me see what you can do so that's where i'm at with i think that your door can do it i think he will win the job but if if they were to end up to go with deshaun it will have to be because he obviously won the job and they i think so uh for me personally uh the way y 'all are moving in my mind as the GM or the head coach I would vocally say that it's a competition. Okay? I would put that out there because I don't want anybody taking... I think Monk has said that. Right. That's what I would do.
54:36But here's where I'm at with the whole Shador being the starter. I'm cool. with giving him opportunity. But I'm going to reverse back to the thought process of where I'm going with it, is that building for the future, okay? And that's what you guys are supposed to be trying to do. So when they first came out with this, Watson is in the lead for being the starting quarterback. That made no sense to me, unless they were trying to motivate Shador. Now, that would make sense if you want to put that out there to motivate him to try and get some driving to him, because he ain't the kind of dude that's going to curl up into a ball when the shit gets heavy.
55:20He's going to go on ahead. He's going to go out there and he's going to produce. So I can understand that concept. But again, you are building for the future. So you have to see what you have. That's the whole reason you traded Myles Garrett is so that you can start building, get draft picks for the future. So why are you trying to hold on to a quarterback that you know no matter what happens, you're not going to pay him again next year. No matter what level he plays at this year, unless he goes MVP, which you already said he is not without saying that he's not because you said you don't have a clear starter going into training camp.
56:04So unless you're going to start doing round things and browning in the process of making your decisions, you have to give one of these young guys starting with Shador you gave Dylan his starting with Shador and maybe even the other quarterback I told you was a green over there giving him an opportunity to see what it is that he can do I just don't see Watson being the person that they should even give a chance to because you're building for the future and the future is not him no matter what happens with him so why would i give him that opportunity unless i'm just trying to get some motivation out of my younger guys to drive them hard that's what that's just what i'm thinking
56:47James Harrison:devo i think we mean you on the same page i'm hoping at the same time deshaun being a coach if he's looking good and he's looking solid you never want to knock down somebody that you have on your roster so if he's a good backup good veteran backup good veteran backup it's competition It's valid competition. So I think it's a really legit quarterback competition. But what you're saying is correct. We're building for the future. We got rid of Miles. We drafted a quarterback in the draft, and he actually won three games out of four fours. So now let's see if we – let's see if he is the one. Because if not, we already are planning for the future.
57:22James Harrison:Let's see if this quarterback is our future quarterback or he's not. Because we know Deshaun Watson isn't because just we already gave him the bag. And no matter how, 230, it's already gone. I know they don't want to do that again. They're not going back through that ship. So let's see who we have on our roster. Shador and then Green. But I'm thinking that Shador, let him play. Let's see how it goes. Yeah, I'm a, you know, like I said, I'm a thought process. I'm back looking at it again. I'm like, yo, they gassing everything up. They gassing everything up, man. Maybe Barry is just gassing it up to try and get the best out of Shador.
57:59Oh, you might be traded. They talking about trade and all this other stuff. You know what I'm saying? They ain't never really talked about track. That's outside noise. Hey, I just need to put some noise out there. You know what I'm saying? Just in case. Just in case. You know what I'm saying? Because you know ain't nobody about to pick up that contract for Watson. You know what I'm saying? Maybe I'll give him some little motivation, make him think he about to get up out of here. You know what I'm saying? You got to come in here and win this thing. I'm putting you in a spot where you got to come in here and training camp and make sure you put your best foot forward.
58:24I can't wait. Yeah. It's going to be nice to see. But y 'all still going to be sitting dead last. I ain't going to lie to you about it. But that's just the way it is in the North. We're going to see it. Brick by brick. Brick by brick. We're going to break down that division every single week.
58:45James Harrison:Bop, bop, bop. What are the standings? What are the standings? I'm trying to tell you we're going to be one. Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be one in everything. Everything, Joe. Everything. Listen to me. I like the Steelers to be one. Brown's going to be right around, yep, right in there. What's right in there? Huh? What's right in there, Joe? We in there. We in there. We see. I don't want to. Look, I'm not trying to put too much on. I'm not trying to put too much on my dog, Chick-Doy, right now. I know he just training. I'm trying to have us come from, you know what I'm saying, where nobody's expecting us.
59:19James Harrison:So that's why I'm just going, you know what I'm saying? I got you. I got you, Joe. I got you, though.
