In short

Recap of the Rams vs. Giants game (Rams win 28-6) with play-by-play highlights, plus debate about Cleveland OC Todd Monken’s “weird” comments on Deshaun Watson being a “young player.”

Guest backgrounds

No guests are named in this transcript. Hosts are James “Debo” Harrison and Joe Hayden.

Key claims

  • Rams offense “came alive” after early stops; Stafford threw for 327 yards and four TDs.
  • Giants looked notably different with Jackson Dart injured; Jameis Winston’s performance is criticized as leaving “a couple plays on the field.”
  • Rams defense held the Giants to 182 total yards, 52 rushing, and limited third downs (no TDs).
  • Monken’s “young player” framing for Watson is defended as a lack of recent game reps due to missed seasons/injuries.

Notable examples

  • Devontae Adams: multiple TD catches including a 64-yard score and a back-shoulder “placement” catch.
  • Rams long TDs: 78-yard and 64-yard plays; late-game clock-milking.
  • Dart left with a left knee sprain (reported as MCL) after the opening drive; expected 4–6 weeks.

3:53Welcome back to this episode of Debo and Joe. I'm your host, James Debo Harrison, and I'm here with my co-host, Joe Hayden. Please make sure you like, subscribe, and download where you get your show. How you doing today, Joe?

4:12James Harrison:I'm doing great, my brother Debo. Doing great, doing great. Another great day the Lord has made. I was able to, you know what I'm saying, kick it. The weather's changing, though. It's getting a little chilly outside. Getting a little chilly. Getting a little sniffly. You know what I'm saying? So I got to start going outside with the jacket on, making sure I take care of myself. See, you going outside with the jacket on. I go outside first thing in the morning. I just jump in a cold tub that's about 38 degrees, and I sit there for five minutes. Then I get up out and walk in the house. Then I go do everything else I got to do.

4:43You see what I'm saying? You worried about a little brisk something, man. What you talking about, man?

4:48James Harrison:Yeah, it might not even be that. I think it's the kids back in school. I think they are bringing back them being around all the other little germs. Them germs, boy. They bringing back all the germs. That's what it is. It's not really the weather as much. Boy, they bringing back all them little nasty germs with them, boy. Little snotty nose. Kids up there sniffling. Stay away from Johnny. Touching stuff, man. Johnny don't wash his hands after going to the bathroom. He washed his hands. He put his fingers in his mouth. In his nose. In his nose. And then he tried to hand you some pocket candy.

5:24No wrapper. No wrapper. Just pocket candy straight out of his pocket. Here, you want some? You can have some. Melted M &M.

5:33James Harrison:Where's the bag? Give it to him. If you don't get out the bag, son, don't take it out. It's just a peanut, Joe. So it was a peanut M &M, but everything else melted, and all he got left is the peanut. Just a peanut? Oh, that's just nasty. Mm-hmm. Nah. Yes. Bruh. Bringing that back home. Look here, man. The Rams, man, they went on out there, and they said, yeah, that thing of the week, that wasn't what it was. But let's go ahead and jump on into this thing, man. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. The Giants started off with the ball, and they handed it to you. Boy, it's scattable two times. Bam. Bam. Right there.

6:09He pick up a high seven. They get the third and short. The tight end, likely? Wasn't he from the Ravens? From the Ravens.

6:17James Harrison:Bruh, I ain't seen him doing all this back here. First week, he had two tuts. It was even more crazy. Like, yeah, he. That's his go-to target. Dude, I don't know what happened. He changed. I don't know what happened. He went on here. He got that bag. He's showing him he deserves it. Yes. Yeah, he got that bag. You got me the bag. I can play free now. I'm good. I can play free. I can go out here and get really. I can get loose for real from that. I'm going to show y 'all. I'm going to continue to play the way I was playing. No question. And better. That get them a first down. I think Dart ends up hitting fields for 14.

6:50They get a first and 10 at the Rams, 45. And third and nine, Johnson dropped that thing. He could have had that if he had held on to it. But I don't know how much of a difference it would have really made if he had held on it because Dart ended up getting hurt on that play right there. and then he was out for the rest of the game. So...

7:11James Harrison:Thank the Lord that he was trying to... Jump. When I seen it, I didn't know what... You didn't know what to expect. Didn't know what to expect. So then I'm hearing that they talking like he's in the back trying to figure out if he can come back in the game. I'm like, thank the Lord. Yeah. Because as long as it's not... You know what I'm saying? That could have been crazy. So I'm happy for him to be able to... Long term, they going to be good. But, yeah, it was crazy. Yeah, the fact that he was jumping actually helped him out a little bit, or a lot, I would say, because if he had those feet planted, when that happened, there would have been trouble.

7:47They ended up punting over to the Rams, and the Rams get three and out. Three and out. Three and out. Three and out, Joe.

7:54James Harrison:Good D. Good defense. Hey, yeah, hey, though. You can't stop them every time, but you got to give your – you know what I'm saying? Boom, three and out. You got three plays. One, two, third and five. Jump this slant. Okay, slant to Devontae early. I'm in there. Okay, cornerbacks hype. Defense feeling good. Let's get the rock back. And now, though. They hold the field. Let's get the rock back. Giants get the ball back. They get the ball at midfield because they went on head. What famous Jameis? Jameis is in the game. They conferred, I think it was like one first down just on standing change. They got a P.I.

8:30The P.I. converted to next first down.

8:32James Harrison:Yes. Then they ended up being, I think it was like first and 10 at the Rams, like 35, something like that. And they ended up getting a holding penalty. On themselves. They moved them out of range. That hurt them because they didn't pick up no more than one yard after that. Yes. They go three plays and now they got to punt the rock back over to the Rams. And, bro, the Rams. Yep, yep, yep. I said you can stop them once, three and out. But you know what I'm saying? Then you going to get a ball back holding. We got to get something going. Back in our hands. Eight plays, bro. It only took them boys eight plays to go 80 yards for a touchdown, man.

9:08And Stafford came alive. Second down, he hits, I think it was just Ferguson for about eight. Then it was Parkinson for about seven. And then it looked like, who was the other dude? Was it Adams after that? Yes. Okay, Adams. It was Adams for 19. and then what's the running back's name? Cormor? Yes. Dude, he jumped out on them for 16. First down, L.A. is called for hold, but it didn't matter, Joe. It don't matter. It didn't matter. The second 14, Stafford goes and hits that man, Adams.

9:51James Harrison:Man. Do you see? It's the placement of the ball, and it's your wide receiver. That's a high pass, but it's touching, hits both of his hands, and he plucks it out of the air. That's how receivers, you know what I'm saying? Like, oh, that's a tough pass. But that's Devontae Adams. You're a starting receiver in the league. That's you. You're seeing that DB behind him, right? The DB was like, oh, no, he's going to miss that. I'm going to, that's coming right to me. Hollins is like, I got an early one. No, it's plucked out of the air, silly man. The quarterback saw it. Not silly man, but like, no. Bink, grid.

10:24James Harrison:I need that. So like, that's just great pass, great anticipation. the ball placement, the DB's like, oh, yeah, a normal receiver. It could tip. It could just hit him in the fingers, tip in the air. He's looking for a tip drill. So I'm not – he's not wrong. But receivers plucked that out the air, took it to the crib early. Early. 7-0, LA goes up. Giants get back out there. And I think they end up going three and out. But I think Nevers got a little twisted up on there. On first down. Yeah. Yeah, he got a little twisted up on that drive. He was able to come back, though, right? through the course of the game.

11:00Yes. He ended up coming back. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

11:02James Harrison:He got back out there. Yeah, so they got a punt to rock back over to the Rams. This time, bro, sixth place, 78 yards touchdowns. Yeah. And they started with a first and 20 because they ended up getting a holding penalty. They're not tripping on none of that. Bro, they ain't tripping on none of that. Three straight passes, dude. Boom. Third and 10. He hits Adams. 64. Seven. That wasn't even a touchdown, bruh. Seven. Bing. Post. Boom. Boom. Like, come on. That wasn't even a touchdown, bruh. I understand. I know he got down. That's 64, bruh. To the 19, my man. What? You know what I'm saying? He trying to look back and they was digging.

11:51James Harrison:I don't know what he was waiting on. I don't know what. Man, look, year 13, he got the top end, but you know what I'm saying? 80 yards, it's a long way. Young man Hollins is hauling ass, coming for him. Hey, you saying he did that? Nah, you know you were younger, you going to keep trying to get that. You going to keep opening up. You see that pylon, you see him coming. You like, I'm trying to go in between them. I know it's a cut that I can make to get in the end zone. I can't get away from him. I don't want him to yank me down and make me hurt myself. Let me go ahead and get down here, man. For sure.

12:22For sure. Man, Stafford goes and hits Williams. I think it was on, what was that? Yes. Third down. 36. Yeah. Getting a 10-yard touchdown. We got 14-0. Giants, they end up jumping back out there. They put together like a nice drive. I think second down. Winston hit Mooney for, what was it, 33 yards. Yeah. They converted on that fourth and one. Yeah, they continued to drive. I think it was a first down. Winston missed. Oh, dude.

12:51James Harrison:on the spread. Yeah, you got to hit that on the cross. He's open. He's open. Or take off. Right. Or take off. Like, he could have did either one. Like, yeah. Either one. Yeah, that was just way too short. I think it was third and seven. They get to the Rams, like, what is it, 18? And then your boy, I don't know where he was going with that one. It's a double post. It's a double post. McDuffie's playing man-to-man, undercuts that, knows what it is. But that's just a lollipop. You know what I'm saying? He's in position, man-to-man. He's running the bang. If you're going to do it, you've got to throw it over him or throw it earlier, something.

13:31James Harrison:But that was just great defense pick. That's not a good throw. Nah, nah. Rams get back out there, and they go ahead to the well too many times. They try to get over there to Devontae. Yep, you know. He's double-covered over there. We need sometimes, sometimes you got to take your medicine. Yes, sir. Stafford gets picked off right there. They get the ball. That boy, Hollins, high-pointed that joint, too. That's a great play, by the way. Great play. Yeah, they get the ball back. I think first down, Winston, he ends up dumping it to Scatow. Hey, bro, did you see them? He goes 19. Them 19 yards was real.

14:09Like, he ain't want to go down, man. He was great. Yeah. Off the first tackle. How you throwing like that?

14:15James Harrison:His whole leg was spinning on the first one when he threw him off. I was like, be careful. Right. That's what I was thinking. I was like, oh, my God. He's twisted up. But then he jumped out. I'm like, what are you doing? Is crazy. He's Bionic with the legs. He's got Gumby. I think it was the next play, Winston gets sacked. And then third down. Dude, he missed that other receiver. That's just a bad guy. He had a couple bad misses that could have been. He had a couple bad misses. It really helped him out. For sure. Famous Jameis wasn't out there hooping too well. Yeah. He didn't help out too much.

14:52Man, they got to punt the rock back. Rams get the ball. And that boy Williams, he want to go ahead and play fumble machine. He want to get the ball back over to the Giants.

15:03James Harrison:I understand what you're saying, but Hollins is ball searching. Like, he's hitting the rock. He's hitting it. Have your kids ever wanted to try an Olympic and Paralympic sport? 17:34James Harrison:You are exactly right. What are we talking about, Joe? Hey, who? But Debo, I thought we played defense. I thought we played defense. We worried about what the defense man got to do. We need some offense right now. Ball search. Ball search. We need some offense, Joe. You funny. We talk about certain things. That was a trigger for me, man. It kind of triggered me. You know, my bad. You're right. Ball search. Defense. Ball search. Punch the ball out. Hollins, he got his eyes on that rock. I know you could punch a rib. He could miss. He binked directly on the ball like a swat. In there. They get the ball at LA 11.

18:13Giants get out there, man, and the Rams run defense hold up. But this is what I want you to see. That play they keep showing. When AD made that tackle for that law, why is the guard or whoever that dude was knocking his own player off, the tight end off? Why ain't you helping that man? I don't know bruh what was he just running there blind like a like a blind dog in a meat factory just drop his head and hit the first thing that came

18:42James Harrison:his eyes were closed had to be his eyes were closed man Rams defense stand up man they holding the foot field though and Debo and right there though that's what I'm talking about when we talk about our defense we have we can't stop them every time but if we're gonna help you guys out and we gotta you know what I'm saying create turnover We got you the ball at the 11-yard line. Y 'all can't get a tud. This is looking crazy. You can't get 11? You can't. Come on, man. You can't get 11 for me? Really? You're on the 11-yard line. I mean, come on, give us seven. We out here versus Sam. We out here versus Matthew Stafford.

19:20James Harrison:That ain't even the kicker. That ain't even the kicker, man. They get the ball back. They kick the ball back off to him. Rams get the ball, what, 25 seconds left. How you let them go and get theyself into field goal range? The running backs. Because they first started off. Hey, all your dudes is getting stiff-armed by these running backs. These running backs is stiff-arming y 'all to, like, hell and back. Everybody gets stiff-armed. We talk about, though, Debo, you got to make that tackle on first down. So they don't – if that doesn't get started, that doesn't get the drive started. Do you know what I'm saying?

19:55James Harrison:He gets 13 and gets out of bounds. They don't have to do, they have no timeouts. They just ran the ball. And he got 13 and got out of bounds to start this drive. And now you have to come protect the sidelines, obviously. Devontae Adams runs that seven route. And that's good defense. But he plucked it off my man Newsom's back. Bruh, lay on him. Do something. Don't move. He was. He was trying to fight. He was trying to, D-Bo. that's why Devontae looking at the ball crazy he's like this obviously Newsom is trying to hold on to his leg and trying to do things to make sure he can't get the ball back to the ref that's why everybody was looking at him crazy Devontae like man get off of me don't like don't move move slow as you can they had man I think y 'all could have stripped me anyway field goal kick bruh a kicker hey bruh that man big body yes 89 to his first name Harrison Is it first name or last name?

20:58It's the first name. First name Harrison. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, big body. Listen, I'm trying. He looked like I was about two years ago, bro, when I was like 08, bro. He was stretching that. Come on.

21:13James Harrison:I used to think the 9-2 look small. I don't even know. That was a big 9-2. Harrison with the 9-2. and he kicked the leg. He had enough leg. That's for sure. Yeah, he got... Hey, bruh. The first kickoff when he was standing there, I'm like, what is that? What is going on here? That boy got to be three-something. How tall is he? He look like... It's a five in front of it, too. It's a five in front of it. He look like a small line. Three-something with a five in front of it. It's a three-something with a five. No, I... Yeah. I'm telling you. It might be... It could be an 11. It could be 11. Tell me how big the kicker is, man, for LA.

21:54James Harrison:I need to know how big he is. No, man. No hard, no foul. Because you know my man Sebastian Janikowski, he was out there. He was bigger than Janikowski, bro. I know, but I'm just saying there could be big kickers. How much our punter weighed? Our punter, how much did our punter weigh? Two. When he got up to his biggest from Georgia Tech that we drafted. The Pittsburgh Steelers. Our old punter that we had. My man, number six. What's my man? I know what you're talking about. You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, he ain't keep him. My man, he had the - He was big body though. Yeah. But that, yeah.

22:30That's - Yeah, you can use, you can - If you can punt and you can be like the third string lineman, you might -

22:37James Harrison:Something. That's what I'm saying. They ain't never doubled up yet. They've always just been able to still just been a little bit bigger, but only had a leg. because I haven't seen none of the punters that I know could play tackle. Hey. Bro. Hey, man, that kid, bro. Stop playing. He big, dude. I think, like, tight end maybe. I got to see. We got to see. Anyway, man, the Rams come back out the third quarter to start the third quarter, man. Halftime 14-3. Halftime 14-3. They missed a 43-yard field goal right there to end the half. They shouldn't even got down there to get it. They're getting the ball back.

23:21They get the ball back. Second down. Stafford goes to Atwell. He gets 19. That was a rout. Routing. But they end up stalling out a little bit, a couple drops here, whatever it may be. They got to punt the rock back over, okay? Winston come on in there. Second down. He hits likely for 13 in the first down. The Rams defense. Well, then hold it. Make them punt again.

23:48James Harrison:They couldn't get nothing really going, brother. It was bad. Percy Harvin was our punter. That's who it was? Yes. Okay. Okay. That's not the one that was in camp, though. The real good move. When we played, yes. Presley, he was the one that played, drafted number six. I remember Georgia Tech. Okay. Okay. Yes. Anyway, the Rams get the rock back, man. I think it was second down. That back shoulder that he threw over there to Adams? It's poetic. It's poetic. It's poetic. Grab my man hands. You know what I'm saying? That's where the quarterback and the receiver like that are in sync. If you were too far on top, it's going to be a back shoulder where he's throwing it at their back.

24:34James Harrison:They're running full speed, and he just has to stop. So that's just good ball placement. No. He, that was, yeah, I'm not even, you can't defend that. That's what I'm telling you, D-Bo. If you're too far on top, he's going to, if you're too far on top, they're going to throw a back shoulder. If you're under him, he's going to throw it over the top. So he's going to make it. When the quarterback can throw the ball, he's, it's like a handoff. It's a long version of a handoff. Back shoulder, he's throwing it to the back of your head. You can't, if you're looking this way, looking inside, it's kind of, you at the, you are at the quarterback and the receiver's mercy.

25:08James Harrison:But you just got to stop, go back like it's a comeback when it's a back shoulder. When you see him dropping his shoulder and starting to turn, that's when you just got to put your foot in the ground and come back like it's a comeback. Yeah, yeah. But perfect on both throat catch. Next play, they go ahead and put their hands on Stafford. They dropping for a nine-yard loss, but that don't matter, Joe. You know what? It don't matter. It's not tripping. Ain't tripping. Second and 19, Joe. 20 at Ferguson for the first. Okay, Joe. So that's followed by Stafford to Adams again. Nice catch. Toe tippity tap.

25:45James Harrison:Was three toes in. He did the first two, and then he tapped in the last one for good measure. I said, son, that's three toes. Boom, boom, boom. It was the first two he had, and then the last way out tapped it again. 23-yard game right there. Mm-hmm. Throw on the money. But the catch and getting the feet down after he was getting pushed. You know, that's one of them ones where you foot, say the word, foil. Foot. Yeah. Foot. Fuel. Fuel. Fuel? Yes. Okay. Fuel to try and stop yourself from hitting the ground. But he was like, no, I got to get my feet down. I catch my body when I hit the turf. Yes.

26:28James Harrison:Dead them legs. And what happens, happens. I got to make sure I control this ball and my feet are dead. and they're going to hit the ground inbounds. Yeah. Next play, Williams runs. I think he got about 20 on that. And then they finished it off again. Stafford to who? Adams. Adams. You're one-on-one. You're out there. There's space. He has a little bit of a cut split. He's setting you up for that slant. He's giving you inside, inside, just so you jump. As soon as you jump, he's giving you that sauce. and there's so much space over there to that back pylon. There's nothing you can do. The quarterback now, just throw it to don't be short, don't be too long, throw it to where I can go get that.

27:11James Harrison:And he's running it, bing, right over the shoulder. There's nothing you can do unless you don't go keep shuffling the side. Stay more square, stay more patient. That's going to be difficult. But he's giving you that release, that bing. And then he jumped inside and you're beat. You cannot run the route for him. Slow down, you better put hands on him. Don't do that. You better, don't stand there and look at him. If he's giving you that sauce, try to disrupt. Put hands on him. Put them hands on him. Put them beaters on him. Try. Beat him up. He didn't, but he might use him, but you better. Don't do what, you can't do what you did.

27:45James Harrison:Hey, you can't get. You can't do what that. You can't just shuffle inside and then, you know what I'm saying, get moved. 11-yard touchdown. Now it's 21-3. The Giants, they end up getting the ball at midfield because they get an unnecessary roughness on that return. I think it's third down and eight. Winston hit Mooney for 15 in the first. Then your boy gets sacked the next third down. Yep. They end up settling for, what, a 52-yard field goal right there. It's 6-21 now. And the Rams, they get back out there. this is where they started dropping some passes. Ah, Ferguson. Yeah. My man was getting hot at them, too.

28:34Yeah, they end up stalling out right there. They got to punt the rock back over. I'm thinking right now, maybe the Giants got a chance. They got a chance. They pinned them down, though. They pinned them down. They pinned them down. Watch out for this. Bro, they pinned them down like you would do your son when you're trying to show him that he can't get away from you. You know what I'm saying?

28:57James Harrison:And now I'm thinking, Giants couldn't score from the 11-yard line. How are they going to score from the other five? I was just hoping for some excitement at the end, Joe. That's all. I was too, but I'm going to watch it. I like to see a little bit of competition when my team ain't in there. I'd rather see 60-nothing blowout the other way if it's my team playing. Yeah. Yeah, no, no. It was great to me. It was over with it. I don't care. I don't care. It was a great game. I feel you. You understand, Joe? They pin them down at the five. They do not give up a single yard. They got to punt that rock back over.

29:37And this will seal the game for them, brother. Yeah. What was it? Almost five and a half minutes, 64 yards. A little over five and a half. They going to score the touchdown, making it, what, 28 to six? Mm-hmm. Just under what? 28-3.

29:55James Harrison:28-3? Mm-hmm. Oh, no, 6, 6, 6. I thought it was 28-6. You're right, you're right. 28-6, you're right, you're right, you're right. That's my bad. All right. 28, yeah. I about to say they just got the other field goal. Those little weak field goal they got. 28-6, man. For me, the game was over with here. I mean, they had a couple other drives. But. They just milked it. It was the clock. Yeah, they ended up getting it back, too. The Rams ended up getting it back and milking it for like almost another, what was it, six minutes at the end? Yeah. Yeah, that was crazy. Anyway, brother, the Rams that we see right now is Rams that we could have seen if they had got some rest in week one.

30:38You can't go over there and think that you're going to just, oh, we're going to hop off this plane, get a weeknight's sleep, and then go in here and jump on these boys. That don't happen, brother. That ain't how it go. That ain't how it go. That's why AD was like, yo, hey, y 'all doing what?

30:57James Harrison:Y 'all going ahead. Y 'all going ahead. I'll be here in my hyperbaric getting right ready on this side with this good air. So when y 'all going back. When y 'all going back. Yep. I mean, AD went out there. He got him, what, three tackles, tackle for a loss, and played, what, over 30 snaps? How you think he did on his first one back, bro? I think he did good, bro. I think he did good. I think just warming back up into it like he did, not traveling out there, knowing what his conditioning, knowing that he wants to, you know what I'm saying, be able to perform at a high level and being able to play over 30 snaps in his first game, I think that was good for him.

31:37With the Rams, let's say, I think that the Rams, obviously,

31:43James Harrison:first game of the season, they didn't do well overseas. You know what I'm saying? I think, like you said, all of that stuff going on. Boom. So now they're getting their feet under them. They're getting right. They're being able to show, you know what I'm saying, offense, defense, special teams. But at the same time, they played against the Giants. So the same way you don't want to get to. But he also got hurt too, man. No, that's what I'm saying. Dart got hurt. Their team wasn't looking as good as they should have either. They really, Jameis Winston out there, it wasn't the best form of the Giants.

32:16James Harrison:Yeah, he left a couple plays there. They left a couple plays on the field, and that's what I'm saying. With the Rams, you won the game, you went out there, you did great. Devontae Adams, like just showing, you don't have Puka Nakua also. So just being able to have not all of your players out there, but still being able to show. That's why I said. You can score this many points. No, 1 ,000%. No Puka Nakua? No Puka. No Puka. No Puka. No puka. No puka. Puka. No puka. No puka. Going against the Giants. Giants losing. And that's the other, with the Giants too, it sucks for you guys because the NFL, I'm glad that his injury isn't going to be long-term, but quarterback, very quickly, the difference between the Giants when they have Jackson Dart and when they have Jameis Winston, no disrespect, but it's night and day.

33:06James Harrison:So you got to be able to, the health, being able to, I'm glad that Jackson Dart is going to be able to get back out there. because their team looks completely different without them. Yeah, definitely. I think the Rams, like you said, Milton, the Rams offense and defense, they came back. They let y 'all see exactly what it is. And, man, Stafford said, I'm going to go ahead and go 22-31, 327 yards, four touchdowns. And you know what? I'm just going to give a pick just to have something to improve on next week. that's all that was with the Rams too like you said just with Matthew Stafford the simple he did all of these great plays but just to explode when he threw the pick you know what I'm saying to Devontae just he's double covered down there we don't need that just check down and then ball security they were getting stripped and being able to like when you're playing against better talent than this you know how we said you gotta protect the ball defense is gonna do a great job of trying to always you know what I'm saying and strip it out.

34:09James Harrison:Yes. So turnovers, it'll be the team. Looking for something new? Try fencing, the Olympic and Paralympic sport that mixes speed, strategy, and fun. 36:43James Harrison:It seems like the Giants without Jackson Dart when they can get to the 11-yard line and not be able to score touchdowns. But when those touchdowns start turning into seven, you know what I'm saying, like sudden change, you know what I'm saying, you're going against ballers that is going to be able to get the ball in the end zone that you just can't stop. So good for the Rams, but you got stuff to study on tape, being able to protect the rock, you know what I'm saying, being able to look at it like that also. Oh, yeah, they got some stuff to get on tape. Your boy Adams, he said, yeah, let me go ahead and go eight for 195, two touchdowns, eight for 195.

37:14Gosh, yo, eight.

37:17James Harrison:Debo, yes. And did you see it's just natural hand-catching routes on air? Some of this stuff look like routes on air. The quarterback putting the ball where it needs to be and the receiver catching the rock. When he ran that dig that he plucked out of the air, that zone coverage, that's a quarterback and timing, ball placement, and that's a receiver running his dig, jumping up in the air, plucking it out of the air, going full speed and keeping it going to the crib. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's nice. When you have dudes, when digs are coming across and you're trying to catch it with your body, no, that's natural hands right there.

37:53James Harrison:And that's not expected from when you're a premier receiver in the NFL. That's supposed to be, boom. That's not supposed to tip off your hands and go in the air and Hollins be, boom, tip, pick. And you got him looking crazy. You know what I'm saying? Like, when I look back at Aaron Rodgers' pick that he had in the game, it hit Bernard right in the chest. And next thing you know, that's a pick for Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers didn't throw an interception. That's not supposed to be a pick. That's supposed to be maybe a worst case, a tackle for loss on the screen, but not an interception. Like, that doesn't make any sense.

38:29Yeah, yeah, definitely. Rams defense, obviously, they came out there, what is it, 182 yards total, 52 rushing, far cry from what it was the previous week, 3-14. They only let them get 3-14 on third down, no touchdowns. Yeah, buddy, buddy. Yeah.

38:49James Harrison:You saw my man McDuffie. He was out there one-on-one. Which is what neighbors do. No neighbors. I mean, nothing. And that's not a knock on neighbors or whatever was going on. But he had his one-on-one opportunities. That was him and McDuffie on that big post, one-on-one, down the field. He got a little fingertip on it. Neighbors was right there. That's just a one-on-one play. No pass interference, no nothing. He's looking at the ball. That's a player making a play on the number one receiver. That post that he threw in the end zone that he picked off, that's just man-to-man, undercut the post, and that's a bad throw by Winston, but that's not McDuffie's fault.

39:31James Harrison:He's in man-to-man on your number one, and he undercut it and picked it. So I'm like, that's a corner making plays. Pass breakups, he was punching balls out, PBUs. He's not afraid to tackle. So, like, McDuffie, that's when you have a baller like that playing like he's supposed to. Yeah, yeah. So, the Giants, we talked about Dart. He ended up getting hurt, so he left with a left knee injury on the opening drive. So, here we have Ian Rappaport. Dart is believed to have suffered a sprained MCL based on the initial exams. Dart will get an MRI, they say, today after initial x-rays were negative. Giants coach was caught telling Harbaugh, John Harbaugh, the head coach, four to six weeks when Dart went to the locker room.

40:25So, I mean, it could have been worse, man. Four to six weeks, that's not a bad thing. On top of that, you didn't lose neighbors, but he, you know, he didn't wasn't one reception, one yard, zero touchdowns. That's crazy. And the outside, the rush, the outside, was it linebacker Burns? Oh, Burns. Yeah, he got, he got, he did his left ankle towards the end, man. They got some, they got some issues over there. You think this, I mean, it's a little bit of bad luck or just bad timing? or?

41:01James Harrison:N-F-L. Not for long. It's not even, not for long, but it's 100 % chance of injury. You know what I'm saying? That's something that's actually one of the craziest things that's sad. Yes, 100%. It's 100 % chance of injury. You're going to get hurt. You're going to get hurt. You're going to get hurt. You're going to get hurt. It's when you're going to get hurt. It's when, bro. So that's the crazy fact, the longevity of when we want people, ankle sprains and things, you're going out there playing full speed, 100 miles an hour, and Jackson Dart, you pass and you just end up, your leg gets hit up in between some people, it's a blessing that you weren't planted in the ground and your leg gets hit.

41:39James Harrison:So it's not if, but when. It's not if you're going to be, how quick can you be able to come back and recover? How serious is the injury for you to be able to get back out here and play? So when you're looking at the Giants, I mean, that's going to be every single team. When you look around the league, that's just the way the NFL is. It sucks, but it's a crazy, it's a physical business. And when you say 100 % injury, it's like 99.999. No. You're going to hurt. You're going to hurt something. I ain't saying you're going to be out, but you're going to hurt something. I ain't going to say you're going to be out, but you're going to hurt something.

42:12James Harrison:You're going to hurt something. 100%. So with this one, it's just, I hope that the Giants are going to be, you would just hope and pray that your good players stay healthy and can get back as fast as possible. Sam Byrne, we hope that it's not serious and he can get back out there and play and make the season. It's going to be four to six weeks. You know what I'm saying? Like four weeks. So if that's the case, now you're going to have, are you dealing with Jameis Winston going to be your backup quarterback? If so, it's not, I don't think they're going to be able to win too much more games if it's going to look like this.

42:46James Harrison:He can play better than that when he's scrambling and has those open receivers. So it could be better. but Jackson Dart is the future and Jackson Dart, when he's the quarterback for the giants, gives them the best chance to win and succeed in the future. So with injuries and everything, we want Jackson Dart to get back as quick as possible. Don't rush him because he is your future. You want him to be your franchise quarterback if that's the plan. So don't just rush him to get back in. If you already lose it, whatever, just take your time, get him back healthy. You want your best players to be out there healthy as long as they can.

43:20James Harrison:because when you get him out there, you're not expecting him to be like, oh, no, he's just trying to – no, you're expecting him to be their best self. Yes. Well, ain't nobody going to be 100. Let's keep that. Nobody's going to be 100%, but you know what I'm saying. Four to six weeks means I can get out there in four to six weeks, and my performance is going to be better than the guy that should be playing in front of me or behind me. Like if I can play better than the guy that's behind me, then I need to play and I'm going to play. And that's just how it goes. So the fact that they say four to six weeks, four to six weeks don't mean he'll be 100, dude.

43:58And I don't know if you ever had a hindglespring, dude, a hindglespring, that hindglespring do not go away. Like I had they said I would have been better off breaking that thing. I was in a hard cast for two weeks, a soft cast for another two weeks and then finally was able to start doing all my other stuff. But I was out for six weeks. When I came back, like, bruh, it was not. I could run, but to cut and break, I'll never forget. It was the first time I did it. It was the Super Bowl, the first one in Detroit. So I ended up messing up my ankle. I think it was Cincinnati game. It was a Cincinnati game.

44:34I'm running down, and dude, he's getting blocked. I think it's Anthony Madison. I'll never forget it, bruh. And I'm pointing, yo, he's about to cut you. Like, he's about to crack you right here. That's when you could crack it. You know what I'm saying? We could get three and four-man wedges. You know what I'm saying? Yes, yes, yes. And I'm like, yo, you're here, here, here, right? So I'm going down, and as I do that, I see the dude coming. I see him going, and I see the boom. I'm like, ooh, I can still make this tackle and get my leg out the way. I couldn't. I got the tackle. I didn't get my leg out the way.

45:03Joe, when it hit, I looked down. I thought my stuff was sitting like this. I didn't even want to look. I was doing one of these. I was like, yeah. Yeah. But when I came back, it was the Super Bowl. Clark Higgins got hurt in one play and I had to go in that one play and I had to just hold the corner, bro. And just me having to put the pressure on that ankle and hold the corner from dude pushing on me. Yeah. I was like, oh, my God, I hope he's coming back in. I can't do this again. I know the pain is coming now. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, no, for sure. I ain't right yeah so coming back don't mean you 100 but you'll be able to perform better than your than your counterpart that that would be playing uh in your place let's go on over here to Cleveland brother because um Kyle Munkin says uh he sees the shine as a as a young player man listen listen to what he got to say here man do I do I love dealing with it every week of course not you guys keep asking uh which is a lot of fun um but the reality is of course of course and um and i'm happy for deshaun the way he's played and i expect an improvement and i expect continued improvement i mean there's a lot of um there's a lot of football left in him he just hasn't played in a while and um and learning our system and trying to get him consistent with his drops and his reads is part of the process.

46:29He's like every player. I see him as a young player. I know people don't want to see it that way, and I haven't been here, but I see him as still a very young player that is going to continue to grow.

46:43Joe, would you agree? I mean, a young player, Marcus says, young player. What are you talking about?

46:57James Harrison:I don't, when he says he's considering a young player, I mean, he's trying, I think he just, I don't know. It's like a reset. Joe, here, let me help you, Joe. It's like he's trying to act like it's a reset in his career, like a reset in his career. First, Debo, I need to hear what you got to think, what your perspective is first. Joe, I had to sit back and think, like, what are you talking about? You know what I'm saying? What are you saying? I don't know what's going on, man. I don't know what the bleeding. So I said, let me go and try and make this make sense. All right? So I said, cool. I started going and trying to make it make sense.

47:42And then I sat back and I started thinking about it. I'm like, you know what? If he's saying it in this sense, then I'll have to agree with you. Okay? So if you looking at how I can reason him saying Watson, you know, hasn't really is a young player, it's because he hasn't really played. But if you go and you look, he got 10 years. 10 years. Got 10 years. Got 10 years, Joe. But.

48:10James Harrison:10 years. But. We just talked about NFL. In 2020, his last full season was 2019, right? Yeah. Now, you go to 2020. Sorry, 2020 was his last full season. Take it back. 2020 was his last full season. Now, you go to 21, and that's the season where he missed all of 21. Yes, he missed all of 21 then. OK, now, 22, he only played in six games. 23, he only played in six games. 24, he only played in seven games. 25, he has not played in any games. And right now, he has only played in two games. So you're talking over the last one, two, three, four, five, five years, your guy has played a total of 19 games 18 games what is that 6 12 18 19 20 games 20 this was his 20th game he played a total of 20 games 21 games whatever it may be all right now if you're looking at it like that then the logic behind it is he doesn't have the experience now on top of it he has time where he had to sit out so you're not even getting that that play a whole year of no football then you come back get hurt you come back get hurt again you get hurt and then you don't even get a the previous year you don't even get nothing in so i can see him saying that in the terms of him being a young player because if i was to tell you joe hey you you go take off a year come back and you need to be the Joe that you was, you know, the previous year, it ain't going to happen.

50:01Now, he took a whole year and then came back the next year and got hurt and then got hurt again and again. And like, that's five years. So after five years, you're telling me you're supposed to, he ain't even getting the time mentally, the mental, you know, makeup of being in there and seeing the difference. Like you said, you can watch film all you want to, but in game, real time with real speed, not preseason games is what's going to get you that experience. And I think that's where he has a logical explanation or reasoning to him saying that he's a young player or sees him as a young player.

50:41I think that's one of the things that he could be saying. And that's the only way I see it as being, OK, I can understand him saying it that way. but Bo thank you

50:54James Harrison:thank you you sounded like me you sounded like me for the first time I've never heard you on the show you sounded like Joe I was because I always try to figure out what's the benefit of the doubt and like when you say Young it's just his experience that he's been able to hasn't played in a certain amount of years and his years with the Browns has been four years and he's just if you compartmentalize his career with the Browns been there for 19 games. So he's saying he don't, other people don't put him as a young player. That's where I can completely understand and agree. I think that's where he's coming from.

51:28James Harrison:So that's where like, I can't, I won't, when he says it out loud and you take it all in the vacuum, Deshaun Watson was drafted in 2017. So NFL is not for long. Three years is the average career. He's done over three times the average career in NFL. So when you say young players, no, no, no, career could easily be over. and it would have been fine because he's done 10 years and like nine years in the NFL. Quarterback position though. Quarterback position for sure because it's less, less, less on your, but less on you moving and less on your physical because like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, understandably.

52:05James Harrison:But Deshaun Watson is more athletic quarterback where I say as Cam Newton, when people are, when you start running around and you are using your legs and your arm and now you are coming off two ACL injuries. So your thing is you can definitely throw the ball. So now, but your athleticism. He came off two Achilles. You're coming off two Achilles. You know what I'm saying? So your athleticism is now a little less. You know what I'm saying? So I hear what coach is saying. So now you are a new player. So we can see what you're going to be able to do. But saying he's a young player, that's the only perspective is how long he's played.

52:41James Harrison:You know what I'm saying? In his last couple of seasons with the Browns. But from outside looking in, you looking at it like, what are we saying? He's been in the league for nine years. He has 230. He didn't get 230. You don't give 230 to a young player. You give 230 million to a proven guy. Well, he was proven at that time. He just ain't had a chance to prove nothing over the last five years, man. Ain't been healthy, man. And now he's got a chance to be healthy, Joe. And this is what I'm saying with Todd Munkin, too. It's not that with the questions about Deshaun Watson being able to start and why is because it was a competition.

53:16James Harrison:He might not have clearly won the competition. Then after the first day, he clearly win the competition. If you start, he said he may not have won the competition clearly in other people's eyes. In their eyes, we put Deshaun Watson out there to start because he is the friend because he's they said we want him to he's a vet. He's been in the league longer. We're starting our first games on the road. I feel like he gives us the best chance to go out there and win. Ever wanted to try an Olympic and Paralympic sport? Try fencing.
