In short

Debo and Joe (Part 1) mixes NBA playoff talk, college football eligibility news, and Steelers contract chatter. Topic 1: Knicks vs Spurs series—Joe argues the Spurs’ success came when Wembanyama attacks the rim (early dunks, rolling off screens, easy finishes), while the Knicks’ best chance is keeping him outside and forcing jump shots/settling for threes. They discuss key Knicks contributors (Brunson, OG, Josh Hart) and criticize underperformance from Mikael Bridges and Shammott (Trey Shammott). They also debate whether the series is headed toward a “gentleman’s sweep,” noting missed threes and late turnovers by the Spurs. Topic 2: Texas Tech QB Brandon Sorsby—hosts say he was granted an injunction to be eligible for the 2026 season after NCAA gambling/integrity violations; they cite alleged 90K+ wagers and 40 bets on Texas Tech while a freshman. Key claim: gambling should be zero-tolerance. They mention Big 12/Big Ten schools considering boycotts/scheduling bans. Topic 3: Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr.—hosts expect negotiations to conclude before training camp; they discuss market-reset arguments and likely annual value around the mid-$20M range.

4:13Good morning. Welcome back to this episode of Debo and Joe. I'm your host, James Debo Harrison, and I'm here with my co-host, Joe Hayden. Please make sure you like, subscribe, and download where you get your show. How you doing today, Joe? Beautiful day, brother Debo. Beautiful day. We here. I ain't going to lie to you. I'm liking your shirt. I'm liking your hat. Throw back. Throw back. Throw back. Throw back to the OG. OG Greg Lloyd. Throw back to the OG. Throw back. Okay. I went and spent some money, you know what I'm saying, to represent. You know what I'm saying? I got a fresh new hat. I went and splurge.

4:48You know what I'm saying? I spent a good, you know, shit. About$40. You know? I like it. I like it. You know, I came through with the Fiesta. Came through with the Fiesta. Golf shirt, you know, my brother's brand. I see you. You know what I'm saying? Looking sweet. Looking super cozy. Looking super comfortable. Shout out. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Shout out. Hey, Joe. Joe. Joe. What's up, coach? Hey. Hey. Yes. What do you think about that game last night? Where you at? Where your mind at, Joe? So my mind is getting interesting. It's getting interesting. So obviously no more sweep. Gentleman's sweep is still in process.

5:34But the way that the Spurs was playing yesterday, Debo, what we were talking about, he's skinny, he's frail, get him moving towards the rim as quick as possible. He was moving towards the rim when he was catching them oops. When you keep him, when he gets close to the basket, when he's setting those picks and gets the rolling anywhere close to the rim, anywhere behind the defenders, they're just throwing the ball up, throwing it up to the rim. When he's getting those early dunks, those like getting involved like that, that's going to be trouble for the Knicks. We got to keep him away from the basket if they want to have any chance of winning.

6:08When they're keeping him outside, when he's settling for threes, when he's settling for the jump shots, that's when the Knicks have him where we want him. When he's rolling, it was assists, too, like Castle. The people, a lot of his touches, he didn't have to just create himself. It wasn't just ISO ball, give it to me at the top of the key, now I got to jab, stab, use all of my – no. He's coming off the screen. I'm rolling towards the rim. They just throwing it up there. And when he's just touching, he's just finessing the ball. He's up at the top of the backboard, just finessing it, finger rolling it in.

6:42You know what I'm saying? Like those moves is when Wimby is being aggressive, when Wimby's attacking the rim, when there's nothing really that they can do to stop it. Oh, yeah, bro. Cass, on the other hand, balling. So, I mean, obviously we knew the Spurs were a great team too. They got in this position for a reason. They beat Oklahoma City. The Knicks beating them at their crib two times in a row made it look crazy. But now the Knicks couldn't defend their home court. They came in New York. All hype, season ticket holders, trying to contemplate if I'm going to go to the game. Am I going to sell?

7:15What am I going to do? Everybody would have sold. I'll sell this game, but I'm going to be there for the final when they close it out. I'll be there for the four when they close it out. Man, now you counting your ducks before they hatch. So all I know is it's going to be a good series. I think both, like the same way yesterday, the Knicks, Jalen Brunson played okay, but Mikael Bridges, the side guys didn't really ball as much. Mikael Bridges only had two points. You know what I'm saying? Shammott, my man, Treyball Shammott, 44. He's one for seven. He had good looks. I liked it. I was like, okay, that's cash.

7:49He wasn't hitting no shots. So, you know, OG played well. Josh Hart was great during his offensive game. Carl Anthony Towns wasn't as aggressive as he was before. And I said, that's what's going to be the big thing. If Carl Anthony Towns plays better than Wimby, that's what he did the first two games. I don't know about better. I don't know about better. Better? I mean, not better. He wasn't as effective. Sub, not, say Wimby, just almost even. I mean, you still, like Wimby's even is still like, you know, it's a double-double with some blocks and all that other stuff. That's the same thing. Carl Antetone, last game, he scored 11, and he had 11 points and eight boards.

8:37Before this, he was averaging 19 and 12. Right. 19 and 12. He didn't. The first two games, that's what he did. Last game, he gave us 11 and 8. That's not in there when he gave us 32. When he gave us 32. In the playoffs previous year. I'm not worried about the PSU. I'm just saying, I mean, you know what I mean? Right now. This playoff series, he's been born. I know it might be falling back. I don't know, Joe. I don't know, Joe. I'm just saying. When he came in there, he went to work work. You know what I'm saying? Immediately. He did. Castle and Fox did a one-two. You know what I'm saying? Dylan Hoffman had 13.

9:15Champagne. They self-destructed a little bit right there in the first quarter, bro. I'm like, oh, they about to go do it. And then halftime came and I'm like, bam, y 'all down by seven? what happened? Hey, I ain't gonna be lying. Right then, I'm like, oh yeah, it's over with, man. They're going down. The first two games, Carl Anthony Towns was out playing Wimby. Last game, last time, he did not. So I think that was a big difference. Castle went on board. Dylan Harper, Champagne, De 'Aaron Fox. I think the others for the Knicks didn't, my man McHale Bridges only had two points. We need more from you, McHale.

9:54Shamit. One for seven for three. You know what I'm saying? So we only lost by four points. But now the Knicks lost by four. I am. I'm like, you keep. Who is the win now? You with the Knicks or you with the Spurs? You were saying sweep, sweep, sweep, sweep. I understand that. But I was thinking you were saying sweep. I was thinking if they lost this, it was going to be a sweep. Now that they done won this game, Joe, this puts me in a little bit different of a mindset. You know what I'm saying? Do you think it's going to be obviously now? Do you think it's – is the series still over or do you think it's going to be a gentleman's sweep?

10:31Hey, I don't know. That's the only reason I think that it could still be – listen, the only reason I think it could still be what you call a gentleman's sweep is like Brunson, he was in foul trouble, so he didn't really play as much as he should have played last night, and he still got, what was it, 30, 32, something like that. Like, so they ain't really have him like that. And then when you look at it, I think it was almost, what, the fourth quarter, they first nine or ten threes, them boys shot, they missed everything. They missed everything. They missed everything. I don't see that going like that again, you know what I'm saying?

11:14That's hard to do. Missed ten of your first and all in the fourth quarter when it's crunch time, like back there. and then they started turning the ball over. They started having the little turnovers at the wrong time. Spurs holding on to the rock. I think they only had, what, what, six, seven, eight turnovers, something like that? Yes, yes, yes. So, bruh, like, I don't know. Maybe Wimby, he need to go ahead and get his cell phone out there, you know, paint up some shit, you know what I'm saying, go hit some statues, all that, chill out. You know, he said he needed to relax, you know, you saw him out there just drawing

11:59there's no reason not to like Wimby did you see the stiff arm that he gave my man Brunson on the back of his head listen I think he started hearing everybody talking about he was lighting all that he said I'm going to get somebody he's trying to take away that soft Frenchman jump by himself I'm not going I'm going to show y 'all I'm not going I'm going to mush Brunson in the back of the head. And then he laughed. No flag. Hey, yo, yo, listen. That's what I was thinking. To hell with a flag. Where the flag at? I said, bro, y 'all get the review and everything. You see my man gave him the real mush.

12:36And Brunson walking over to him like, bro, I'm glad he kept his cool. But I'm like, y 'all didn't. All these cameras. All these reviews. How you missed that? And he mean mushed my man. And you heard Shaq was like this. I like it. Get his little ass off you. I say, oh, okay. Okay. He's trying to, okay. That's how they go. The Knicks fans. Them boys, they wasn't happy, bro. That's how I like. I ain't going to say I like to see them like that, but they needed to cool off, bro. They needed to cool off. They was a little too hype. They was a little too hype. They was getting out of control. They were overconfident.

13:12They had me talking crazy. You was hype. You know what I'm saying? You was hype. They didn't rubbed off. I was hype. Like, no, uh-uh. Y 'all, listen, calm down. They put y 'all back where y 'all need to be. You know what I'm saying? Now, you know what would make them go crazy, though? And them boys going there. And beat them game four. Beat them game four. And tie this thing up 2-2. Oh, my land. Listen. Bro, that's going to get their soul. They going to start talking about, man, they always raise their sucker. Let us down, man. Man. Look, that's just home court advantage. Nobody don't care. Nobody's won on nobody's home court yet.

13:51So somebody got to stand up. Somebody got to stand up. Listen, Joe. For real. Ticket prices didn't drop, though. Ticket prices didn't drop, though. I mean. They don't want to. They talking about all. Well, you know. No. Yes. Let me tell you, Debo. I did my math. So say the season ticket holder seats were$400 to$600 now for the high rises. Now they're looking at it. they were trying to sell their tickets. They were saying, oh, it was$11 ,000. Oh,$10 ,000. Before the game started, it's as high as somebody's going to pay. So the people that got those tickets paid, ticket price,$700. They're trying to spank people.

14:30So it got down to about$4 ,800 is what they would let it go for, you know what I'm saying, before the game starts. So I think now with this one, good thing it's going to go down a significant amount, but it's just the frenzy. It's like a shoe release kind of. Like, if everybody just chills, let it sink down. It ain't about chilling and letting it sink down. It's about them boys lost. That's what happened. And they low. No, no. In the first quarter, you was down by 11. Man, they was trying to get him off. Wait. They was trying to. Man, just give me the face on it, dude. After they spent that. You know what I'm saying?

15:06The people that, the ones that sold, ecstatic. I didn't want to go. I could have made, I could have made. Yo, when you sent me that thing. watching the L? What'd I tell you, Joe? When you sent me that post? Oh, yeah. You would have sold both of them. I said I sold three and four right then and there. Both of them. For sure. Both of them. Man, I'd have been sitting pretty right now, too. But that's when they asking you, how much does it cost for the experience? It ain't worth it. I'm like, do you want to be in the building? It's crowded. it. It's loud. You ain't gonna be relaxed. I'm gonna be sitting there at home, feet kicked up, eating and drinking, whatever it is that I want, and it ain't gonna cost me an arm and a leg, Joe.

15:58And you know what? I'm gonna make $40 ,000,$50 ,000,$60 ,000,$70 ,000, $90 ,000,$100 ,000. I make money on top of it. Now you still go back. Look, ask the same for the Steelers fans that owns season tickets. If they're What did I tell you about that? They were saying it was the same thing. Do you think they would sell their tickets? Joe, what did I tell you? Some people would. What did I say in the text, Joe? You told me. Hey, it's Ryan Seacrest for Jewel Osco. For you, save days are here now through June 23rd. 17:28I love the sounds. The buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place. Soccer. Football. It's home. Why do I watch the World Cup? that's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Echavarri, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great. A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull.

18:13It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that? Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American football as part of the My Cultura podcast network, available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

18:36A decade ago, the ethanol kingpin of Iowa became the king of corn in Brazil. So we met with a lot of larger farmers, went from Bahia to Tocatines to Mato Grosso. And he brought a team of executives. They were going to help the country get in on a gold rush. Carbon and its derivatives are going to be really the next great commodity that the globe's going to trade. But back home in Iowa, trouble was brewing. If you live in Iowa, your land, your water and your voice could all be at risk thanks to a man named Bruce Rastetter. Now people are questioning if his climate solutions have anything to do with climate at all.

19:14You gotta give Bruce and the guys credit. They're Republicans. They don't give a s*** about it. On this season of Drilled Carbon Cowboys, the story of how the ethanol kingpin of Iowa became the king of corn in Brazil and what it tells us about the limits of technology and markets to solve the climate crisis. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

19:46Everyone sees me as a football player, but before anything else, I'm human. Every single day I'm still learning how to live with problems, mistakes, relationships, emotions, ever since I was born. And I still have so many questions. Where do we come from? What happens after death? How do you deal with cancellations? Cristiano or Messi? Do aliens exist? What is love? Real Madrid or Barça? From everyday and ordinary to the deep and extraordinary. This isn't a normal podcast. Everything here is spontaneous, real and genuine. This podcast is like a deep talk with your closest friends. Where vulnerability comes out.

20:18conspiracy theories end up on the table and goals and lessons are shown. Todo en esta vida tiene un orden perfecto y todo es justo. Espérenme, yo te voy a apresurarme, pero me lo voy a acabar, está buenísimo. We are here to connect. El Chicharito. I know you are.

20:55I'm joking. Joe, I told you, it could be the Steelers about to win the eighth title for the most Super Bowls in NFL history. If you come up to me talking about, I can get. Your tickets are$700. I can get. They're going to be usually about$1 ,500, whatever. But. Just say this. Say this. Say this. Your ticket for this joint will be$1 ,500. And they're selling for, somebody will buy it from you for$25 ,000. Joe, they gone. They gone. Joe, they gone. All right. Joe, listen. Okay. They was further than that, dude. They selling stuff for, what was it,$40 ,000,$80 ,000,$60 ,000? Yeah. Joe, what are we talking about?

21:47College tuition, all that good stuff. Joe, that's a whole year and a half of living for me, Joe. It's gone. I hear you. I'm selling it. You know what? The experience they willing to pay for, I'm willing to sit at home and get in greater comfort than being. That's the, I'm, if you, I had to say, I'm going to the Cavs. If it's, it's got to be a significant amount. I'm going to the game. Hold up, Joe. You don't pay for it. That's right. I forgot. No, no, no, no. When it got to finals, I don't play for regular season. But when it gets to finals, they can make so much money on it. My man, good man.

22:33I get it for ticket value. What's the ticket value say? It was$2 ,500. Oh, I thought you would say the other one. Okay,$2 ,500. $2 ,500 per ticket. So it's$5 ,000 for two. Okay, listen, this is a little different. You can't sell your ticket when he's giving it to you for face value. But if you got season tickets and you're paying, say,$2 ,500 a seat for, you know, whatever it is, and somebody comes to you, Joe. They're next to me for 25 bands. No, no, to hell with that, Joe. It's not 25 bands. Your season tickets is$2 ,500. You got two of them. That's five grand a game. And how many games is it?

23:1180 what? Well, you get 41 because you just get them for 82 games. So you're talking about, what is it,$220 ,000,$210 ,000, right? Somebody say, I want them two tickets, Joe. He go$250 ,000.

23:31I can't hear you. Wow. Yeah, the mic messed up. The mic messed up my ass. Their mind went, click, click, give me that money. They was getting season prices for one game, Joe, and they could have sold the next game for the same thing. $250 ,000 to$25 ,000. They can be bought. My ticket's going to be the ones that's up there, the astronomical number. They'll be like, oh, man, the Cavs tickets itself are$250 ,000 a ticket. No. That's the only way they're going to get me out. If they come to me, man, bro, I need this, man. I'm going to give you$250 ,000 for game three, and I'll give you$250 ,000 for game four.

24:07I'm going to tell them, look here, man. It's going to be hard for me to do. You know how bad I want to be there. Mm-hmm. Debo, you ain't saying that. I'm trying to kick up the price. You trying to keep up the good man. I'm trying to kick up the price a little bit. Listen, I'll tell you what. If he asks for one game, I'm going to tell him, listen, if I'm going to miss three, I might as well not even go, bro. So if you buy four or two, I give him. You trying to sell them, right? You going to sell it before the game is. We up 2-0, Joe. I need to see them win three, and then we going to see. I can see them way more than three from at home.

I got you going on a little vacation for a weekend over here, but you ain't going to this game. I'm sorry. No, we're going to the most fire watch party you ever Yes, ma 'am.

25:46Listen, I'm trying to tell you. Man, I'm joking. God is my witness, bro. I can't. Listen, I'm going to go ahead and slide her some game. I ain't going to tell her what it went for, though, because, you know, she going to want a little moment. For sure. That's what I'm saying. I'm going to say, mama, look here. You ain't going to this game. But what I'm going to do, I'm going to send you to Vegas. Senior Vegas for the weekend and I'm going to give you this money. You're going to have yourself a good time. You and your girlfriend. Y 'all have yourself a good time. Give a little bit of the profits and go ahead and sell.

26:21Okay. I'm with you. Yes, D-Bro, I understand. I'm just saying it's going to take a certain number. When you start talking about a quarter of a million dollars, then I'm with you. When I'm saying like 25 there, I'm like, you really want to be in the building? But think about it, Joe. It could be. It could be. It was what? whatever they were, they were selling them for over with their season ticket price, whether they let it go sooner than... I feel you. I hear you. I hear you. Nick's fan. If they didn't sell the tickets, I know they were sad. They lost out on a bag. Especially now. Especially now.

27:01No closeout. Man, with the possibility of the closeout, though, if they had won... Oh, my goodness, bro. Listen, bro. The price of the tickets would have been higher than giraffe pussy around now. I'm trying to tell you. Oh, wait. That's facts. Look here, man. Texas Tech's quarterback Brandon Sorby Sorby Sorby, okay. Has reportedly been granted an injunction to be requested by a judge in district court in Lublin, Texas. So, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas. Sorry, man. Sorby is now expected to be eligible for the 2026 college football season. The judge reasoning for granting the injunction to the Texas quarterback was.

27:53This court finds that sore. How you say that name? Sores? Sores B. will suffer a probable imminent and irreparable injury without the injunction because he will not be able to participate as a member of the texas texas university 2026 football team joe what do you have to say about that this is crazy and i say this debo just because as the one biggest thing for me as a football player and when we was playing was gambling is not something you can do it is not something you can do gambling is the one thing in the in the why is this even a question bro like why is it it shouldn't be a question at all that's why i'm saying it's literally in my eyes crazy from the perspective of me being a football player and the one thing, there's certain things you cannot do at your job that you cannot do, that you cannot do.

28:59It takes away everything of the legitimacy of the game, of how we play it and what it's all about. It is always about, like, the one thing when I got into the league and I would say they did a bunch of things wrong, but the one thing they harped on it, every single thing, we had these gambling meetings. Do not gamble. And one thing you knew, do not gamble. There is a zero game policy because, for one thing, you're playing a game that's like outside of it. I want to know when we're going into this game, we're playing the game just to play the game. That's just one thing. When you get the gambling involved in it, I know it's super huge with now the NFL having all these deals with DraftKings, with FanDuel, all these sponsorships.

29:44but there's a certain thing that's the rule that i knew like like like steroids it's over all of that was gambling that's one thing where that you like i it's it's so like people i would never talk about it because it seems like like not even wouldn't talk about it's just something that i was so against and i felt like everybody that i played with we just knew that the game is the game we're out here we're playing everybody has a job to do and the legitimacy of the game is one thing you're trying your best depending on if you're betting on your team to win lose unders overs because you know all that stuff forget all that like zero gambling policy that's one thing where that's just just gray there's no gray that's one thing that is white and it's black there's gambling on sports and now you're actually putting bets on your team on your actual team.

30:42So, like, the questions of now him being able to get cleared and being able to play. No, no, no, no, no. It's not a question, bro. He is clear. No, no, no, no. That's what I'm saying. Not the question. I'm saying him being cleared and being able to play makes the NCAA look crazy. Because now you talk about the laws, the judges that can go over your rulings. When you try to say, no, this dude is suspended indefinitely. now you could just go to a court and get a judge to say no no no he's in the ncaa now is you like with when we were talking about players not getting paid and all of that stuff there's certain things that okay there's certain things you could talk about now when gambling here's the big issue man the big issue is the ncaa does not allow gambling on college football games especially games you're playing in it's the what they call it the integrity violation okay you You cannot bet on college football games.

31:40And he was betting on games and making whatever the hell it was. OK, so right now, as soon as you made the bet, you're in Ellison. You know what the rules is. OK, so according to the reports, he admitted he had wagered over at least 90 K on pro and college sports over the past four years, including 40 bets on the indiana football team while he was a freshman on the team in 2022 you know what that says violation you're done that's it now according to them it's allegedly that it's over 9 000 bets that he placed through the course of that same time so this is not a one-time thing bro so like the judge ruling this he didn't say hey he's innocent of what he did no he's not saying he's innocent he's just saying you know what this is ethically wrong and um this is going to cause him irreparable harm because he won't be able to play football while this lawsuit is pursued is you know going through his process so what we're going to do is we're going to say or he's going to say hey it's cool he could do this um and then what they did is i guess they went and said that the court was persuaded by the evidence regarding his uh gambling addiction and uh his treatment and the argument that um you know him being ineligible he would suffer you know irrep yes that's what happens so what they did was they gave him a two-game suspension he could come back you dude this is the fucking problem sorry i saw this is the problem nobody wants to take accountability for their own actions okay this is your fault you knew what this was going into it so now what we do we go hey man you know what he has a problem you know well depending on who it is i guess or or however whoever you have in that position you know what he has a problem is this and that.

33:49And they want to stand on, you know what? It's tough, you know, mental this and all this other stuff. This is where people get stuff broke down. Like, I'm a, I go sideways left to my comparison. So, he has a addiction to gambling, right? Okay, well, you need to go ahead and get that shit fixed and get it right. But, since it's a so-called addiction, mental issue, whatever it may be, then he's not responsible for it and we're going to tap you on it. Listen, listen, I'm going to go super extreme so y 'all can understand this. You know what a serial killer is? A person that got an addiction to killing people, but y 'all don't slap them on the wrist.

34:30Yeah, I go way left and now it's under. No, that's people dying. It's the same thing. It's the integrity. You're going to kill the sport. You're going to kill the opportunity for people to be able to go out there and do all that and especially now when we got people that believe it's a fucking script. Yeah. Now, if they're going to appeal the NCAA, they're going to appeal. Guess who they're appealing to? They're appealing to four judges over there that actually graduated from, guess where? Texas Tech University. They're all four grads. So NCAA appealing, that's who the higher court they got to go to.

35:13What you think they going to do? what you think they gonna do joe they're gonna say you know what man we'll uphold this thing for our boy man and then right here the majority of the big 10 or the big sorry the majority of the big 12 teams are considering boycotting their games against texas tech next season due to the ruling like they got people who are talking about this board members that have also mentioned to reject the uh the raiders from the league to reject them from the league dude Like, I guess the only current holdout on that is BYU. According to, who is it? Ross Dillinger. He, or yeah, it's a he, I'm hoping to see.

35:57I should be right. Athletic officials from Nebraska and Georgia sent department-wide memos to, well, today, instructing coaches and sport deputies not to schedule Texas Tech. if games are already scheduled, the school may cancel the matchup. Actually, you had yesterday the Big Ten, speaking of the Big Ten, the AD from Nebraska, Troy Danny, informed his staff yesterday that they are not allowed to schedule Texas Tech. At least somebody's standing for something. If you don't stand for something, you're going to fall for anything. Good job over there, Troy Danny. Somebody's doing something, saying something.

36:38So now they're like, you know what? if you go let them play we're not even going to play texas tech if that's what y 'all want to rule on when y 'all already know what it is because y 'all want to play a favoritism over there what is that in lubbock county lubbock county over there with your your texas tech uh fan crew and all that other shit then listen if that's what y 'all want to do ain't nobody gonna play texas Now how it look for you. Debo, it's all bad. It's all bad. And like you said, too, gambling. He's admitted to 9 ,000 times. He admitted to 40 on a school he played with. 40 on a school that he played with.

37:22This is what I'm saying. This is a zero tolerance thing. It's like basically, what are we talking about? And like everybody, you can't stand up for you. Like, you're responsible for your own actions. Like, you can go get help, you know what I'm saying? But you're not going to be able to play in college football. So, like, if somebody has an addiction, like, just you can't be in the presence of the college football system. You want to bring this dude and let him into the league. Huh? Ain't nobody, listen, don't, ain't nobody. I'm not picking this up. I'm not even taking a chance on scratching the surface on this.

38:00It's no time. to play with that especially now debo you know people are thinking oh rigged all that stuff and and you played i played we know you we are out there for the trying our best the nfl is not for long especially when you get to that level and now and just call just sports in general the dudes are out there fighting trying to get to the next level trying to be the best that we can be and that's literally the mindset that we go out there with when we have people that are legitimately gambling on the games and this is the thing like it just makes it off and it's wrong in every way and that's why hey it's ryan seacrest for jewel osco ready to save it's time for cyber deals kick off summer with fresh savings that brighten the season you don't want to miss these exclusive week-long digital offers on your favorite products that are only available when you shop online Save on eligible items from Jack Links, Celsius, Chobani, International Delight, and Too Good.

40:51A decade ago, the ethanol kingpin of Iowa became the king of corn in Brazil. If you live in Iowa, your land, your water, and your voice could all be at risk thanks to a man named Bruce Rastetter. Now people are questioning if his climate solutions have anything to do with climate at all.

43:09this buddy like like if you allow this to happen it's the thing what they call it it set precedence now every player that done ever gambled or had a or or gets into an issue like this all they gonna do is point back to this right here listen you're gonna cause me harm because i didn't follow the rules that said if i gambled my ass was up out of here so you can't cause me harm i won't be able to repair from it you knew what the hell the rules was don't break the rule bro like everybody know it's a death sentence yes brother there's certain things that you cannot do and there's certain things that other people can do and if you want to do a job or a do it do a service there's certain things you can't do when you're in it and if you do it you get fired and you can't come back that's that's my bad you got to go now i'm sorry but like dude don't feel bad for you you gotta go do something else no you gotta go do something else listen you can go work somewhere else.

44:07You ain't even going to jail for this, bro. I know. You just can't play football anymore. You can go work a regular nine to five. What's your degree? You've been in school eight years. You got to have something. Do you think people like that? I don't know how long you've been in school. I'm exaggerating. With everybody, people... You go to school to get an education, right? Get your education. You still have it. Go ahead. You ain't going to play football nowhere for nobody. You're done. Go ahead. You messed that up. Yeah. People mess up and they get fired and have to move on. Now they're talking about he going to be drafted.

44:52Who go draft him? Who? What? Bruh. Bruh. You go draft, I would cut off my GM's hand. And that's a quarterback? You're a quarterback? No. Oh, you had a bad game? No, he put about$150 ,000. Man, on the under. Right. Come on, man. Not your quarterback. You ain't shaving the hell out of it. Not trying to. No. According to the virus line, whatever you are, but not. You're my quarterback. You talk about how clean cut these dudes want their quarterbacks to be and making sure that they do everything right. Got to be the smartest person on the field. Clean slate. Don't do no off-the-field issues. I think this is an off-the-field issue.

45:37Dude, it don't make no sense, bro. I don't know what they got going on over there in Lubbock County, Texas. And what they – they need to check the – like, they need to be checked. I don't know how you – who checks the judges? Like, who checks to make sure ain't some big-time somebody skinning them and lighting their pockets up, making their pockets heavy or something? People – everybody know everybody. You would think like the big time coaches and the judges and they all in cahoots. Because that's crazy. How do you bring a player that's telling you, admit it, obviously if he has the... Thank you.

46:15That's his punishment of him missing offseason workouts? He got two games. That's it. He back in there. He done made it over 90K and he got two games and he back in there. Stop it, man. If the NCAA can't get this stopped, every, every AD in college football should do what in nebraska's ad is doing and do not play the whole university of texas tech if that's what you're going to do in any sport period you want to you want to you want to go ahead and do all this and try and make it better for this boy that obviously knew the rules continued to do it it wasn't a one-time thing you know what for years four years bro stop playing with me man look here go ahead and go ahead and do that y 'all want to do that everybody gonna suffer listen texas tech if you're a texas tech and then y 'all y 'all y 'all y 'all better y 'all might want to find a way to get up out of there right now for the for for old sword sword bees get y 'all and this judges get y 'all get y 'all hemmed up like students y 'all need to go ahead and figure out what's going on man y 'all better mix listen big tendernity already started nc double a listen bro if i'm a player on that squad, Joe?

47:29Listen. He ain't going to... Listen. He ain't playing with me. You ain't about to have me sitting up here looking like Dodo. You going to mess with this? Nah. Listen. We going to go ahead and we going to figure out how you have to do whatever you got to do to get up out of the way, man. Whether it's by hook or by crook. You know what I'm saying? You got all these mental issues and all this and that. You got a bad gambling addiction. What's the hell going to stop you from doing it again and again and again? You four years deep. What is he talking about? Get him up out of there. Get him up out of there.

48:14For football right now, I know people need help. We can go get him work for the addiction. I'm saying that for sure. You lose the gift. You lose football. You can't do football. I'm all for you going to go get the help. Ain't they still got Pete Rose up out of there? One of the coders that do it in the game Still ain't got him up out of there My man Josh Gordon couldn't play in the NFL Because he was in this program For smoking weed He couldn't play for smoking weed The same thing they do nothing to right now They tapped you on the wrist for now Two on the yards Come on man You gambling? You're gambling?

48:51On your own team? And that's the crazy thing They didn't even say he was gambling for them to win. I heard some of the bets. Some of the bets. He knew what the calls were going to be. So he knew they were going to run. They knew they were going to call a lot of runs in the play system in the first 15. So he would bet the under. Bruh. On your own spot, you bet the under because you know y 'all going to run the ball. Crazy work. Yeah. He out of control, bruh. He out of control. Listen, man. Let's go over here to the Steelers. So they say despite all their spending, the Steelers still have one more big deal to do, and that is Joey Porter Jr.

49:35Sources say Joey Porter Jr. and the Steelers are not close to a big extension. Joe, what are your thoughts on this? Are you concerned? Are you not concerned? Where you at? Where you at with this? That peasy little nephew ain't got signed yet. I'm not concerned because normally it's going to be right before training camp. So they got, they got, they got, they still got some time. You know what I'm saying? When it's still assigning deals. And I feel like with this, with this deal, it's going to, it's going to be a little bit, it's going to be both of them might have to give. I feel like both of them have to maybe give a little bit.

50:13It's in, it's in the situation where obviously they want to sign Joey Pointer for a long-term deal. They know what they got to him. They know he's going to be a baller, stole him in the second round. He could have easily been a first-round pick. He's been doing nothing but great things, improving every single year. Like, Hansy, we asked him about the calls. Boom, didn't get called for too many holding his passing appearances. You know what I'm saying? So he's been locking down, keeping defenders out of the end zone. You know what I'm saying? Making plays. So he's been doing his job. He expects, when you're looking at numbers, him, his agent, they're looking at what's going on, what's the market look like.

50:4931 is the highest-paid corner, Trent McDuffie, And then we got like Stingley making 30. And then we have J.C. Horn making around$25 million a year. So we're looking at between Joey Porter Jr. trying to figure out, man, am I trying to reset the market? I'm the new hot corner coming in. So I think his agents might be around the 31 trying to reset it, either getting right to the top market or the Steelers more around the 20, the 25, the 25, 24, 25 mark. to where, boom, you're getting a great deal. You're happy, but we're not having to reset the market. At the end of the day, picks, he hasn't had too many picks, and he hasn't been to the Pro Bowl yet.

51:29So understandably, you're going to be great. So we're not resetting the market with all you went Pro Bowl three years in a row, some all pros. Right now we have the no Pro Bowls, but at the end of the day, I'm not trying to knock. So I'm just giving the point perspective from the Steelers. I'm not seeing the reset the market numbers to where you've rusted everything out. But I can see, obviously, right now, around the$25 million a year mark. So around, kind of the same deal as Nick Herbert got, around the$400 million to where that's$25 million a year. I think that's kind of where the Steelers are, where Porter's around the$30 million a year, you know what I'm saying, four years for$120 million.

52:07So I think they're going to have to kind of, somebody's going to give a little, take a little, something like that. So I think it's just, when they say super far away, I'm not thinking it's astronomical. I'm thinking it's somewhere in that number. So I'm thinking if we can get a front loaded, get a sign-up on this right, try to average just some way to make it look good, I think everybody can be happy in the situation. But I don't think it's nothing too crazy because I know Joey Porter Jr. wants to be here. He's a baller. So from what he's playing, and it's more onto potential, what he's going to keep giving you.

52:35He's a young player that got drafted in the second round. And this first deal is what he's done for you and what you're expecting him to continue to do. So I think it's going to be a little bit of both there. Yeah, I agree with you. I see the deal getting done definitely before training camp. And again, I'm thinking it may be a thing where agents want to reset the market. I mean, it could possibly be something like that. So I can understand or believe that they're not close. Hell, I can understand and believe they're not close just because of how I know they negotiated when I negotiated. Like we first - Man, what?

53:13The numbers don't be close, do they, Joe? The first ones don't be close until it somehow feel like it's close. The numbers don't be close, bro. I'm like, dang, we ain't never going to get there. Hey, bro, bro, listen, listen. I'm like, how? I'm telling my agent, bro. Where that money come from? I'm like, what? They said who? Hey, hey, bro. This is what I said. Man, tell them to kiss my black ass. What? That's what I was saying. I'm like, what? Yeah. Hold up. Like, I'm saying, make sure you tell them these words right here. He said, no, no, no, James. Calm down, man. Calm down. This is the way negotiations work.

53:53You know, I ain't never went through a negotiation at that point. You know, that was significant, you know, money. So I'm like, what? Oh, I'm waiting. You're waiting. You're waiting for that first offer like this. Oh, yeah. That first offer. We going to be, you know, I'm saying a couple hundred thousand off. Dang, I know. I know they know it's me. You know what I'm saying? I said, oh, hell no. Y 'all done nothing done. You know what I'm saying? Oh, no. Hell no. You know what I'm saying? But like I said, I see it getting done. I'm with you in that range. I see it more of maybe a three-year extension that adds to that fourth year.

54:28And I'm with you. I think for them to get any or the Steelers to get any type of break from that break in the market number, I think they're going to have to like basically guarantee the full contract. I think if they went in there with something that, you know, was a three-year extension that turned into like a, you know, like maybe a four-year, you know, say 105 to 110, I think he takes that. I think, you know what I'm saying? And like you said, you said a four-year, what was it, 120, 130 or something? Yeah. I think you get to that what ends up being like a four-year guarantee, full guarantee, 105.

55:10Like, I'm going to jump on that. 105, 110, I got to jump on that. And then you got a chance to even get back because he only, what, 25, 26, something like that. So, yeah. I mean, but. Yeah, I think that's what we're saying with the – just when you get to that first deal, trying to figure out, all right, agents, obviously, seeing what's going on, trying to get him the best deal possible, trying to get him that highest average per year. And then Joey Porter Jr. is to, boom, you're with the Steelers. You're in a great, comfortable situation. So is it worth trying to reset, being happy where you are?

55:43And both of y 'all, we can work this number to make both people happy. So I'm hearing what you're saying, too. When he has that one year left, adding a three-year, you know what I'm saying, for that 30, that could make it a four-year for 120 and then kind of guaranteeing some stuff and figuring out to make him happy. They're really just dead set on, you know, trying to set the market. I mean, I don't know if you get to see it, but you go ahead and you backdoor it and throw on another, you know, 35, 40 at the end for the last year, but they ain't going to guarantee that. I mean, they'll set the market.

56:16You're average higher than what is there. But, you know, what's fully guaranteed is what, you know, what I want to be looking for. And that'd give him what he'd be the most fully guaranteed then if it was 100, what, 105, 110, something like that. just trying to get that most I feel you just trying to get the most average I mean most guaranteed money for sure and then just being where you that's going to be good you can be able to get to the market again being able to get to that bag while you're making great money yeah for sure or like you said five year guarantee 110 make it 140 150 150 million something like that ooh but you guarantee 110 you know you know how that back end go you never know You ain't gonna never see that last year.

56:59Most of them bills are set up that way. You trying to get, you trying to either, you trying to either feel like you outplayed your deal or they feel like you underplayed that deal. So something's going to happen at that time. Then you look at you like, we're going to chop this up and cut it down. Or you like, now it's time to go back to the table because I outplayed this. It's time to go do something. But something will happen. Yeah, for sure. For sure, for sure, man. I'm U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
