In short

The episode is a sports talk segment mixing NBA and NFL offseason rumors, plus a guest interview. Topic 1 (NBA): The hosts debate a “jersey voodoo” theory—if Joe wears certain teams’ gear, that team loses. They claim Cleveland (Donovan Mitchell, Jared Allen, Max Strus) won when Joe wore Cleveland, and they expect the Cavs to even the series 2-2 after a win and a Monday game. Topic 2 (NFL): They discuss reports that Steelers GM Omar Khan raised concerns about Aaron Rodgers’ meeting. The hosts argue Khan’s comments sound like ongoing communication, not concern, and they cite that Rodgers previously didn’t sign until June 5. They suspect misinformation leaks and that Rodgers is “chilling” until he chooses. Topic 3 (Browns): They react to Todd Monken’s comments about rookie QB Taylor Green, arguing it’s smart situational planning, not “tipping” anything. Notable example: Monken’s openness to low red zone/third-down packages for Green.

5:08welcome back to the d-boy joe show i'm your host james d-boy harrison and i'm here with my co-host joe hayden please make sure you like it subscribe and download where you get the show

5:21James Harrison:how you doing today joe i'm doing great today brother d-boy doing great you know why do you You know why? Why? Because what I told you what was going to happen, happened. I told you my Cavs was going to go handle business. Detroit did what they had to do. They protected home court. Cavs protected home court. You saw what happened. And now Monday again, today, game tonight, we're going to handle our home court again, and it's going to be two to two. Now it's right back, back to even surfaces. Now we need to get and steal one in Detroit. That's how it gets. You need to steal home court. We need to go get one from their crib.

6:03So, I kind of, you know, forgive me for, you know, doing this or going back and, like, kind of looking at, you know, looking at this. I'm kind of, I don't know. I'll just say this. What? Last time you wore something that was L.A. And L.A. just got popped. before that, you wore something that was Cleveland. Cleveland got popped back to back before that. Now you're wearing something that's Cleveland. And they play tonight. Yeah. You're going to be the reason they get popped.

6:43James Harrison:See, no, no, Debo. No, I'm not. No. I get popped again. I be switching jerseys. I be switching. I rep sports teams. You know what I'm saying? I just be wearing jerseys. Did you not forget last show, you switched right before we got on? You switched right before we got on, Joe I switched hoodies You had on some Cleveland But you put on the Lakers, Joe And they got popped I wish you had kept that Cleveland on Because they would have got popped again But didn't I tell you my honest Didn't I tell you what I expected to really happen I said that the Lakers You know what I'm saying I think you subconsciously knew In your head that if you kept that Cleveland on It was going to be It was going to be trouble I think you knew it was going to be trouble, Joe.

7:28James Harrison:No, it's on James Harden. He did what he had to do. He cooked in the fourth. Donovan Mitchell. I was on watching it live. Well, I'm just saying, Joe, you got Cleveland on today. And they played tonight. Yes, and we're going to win tonight. Listen, I'm just saying, every time you wear Cleveland, they lost. Every time you wear LA, they lost. I'm just saying. Whatever. Oh, oh, it's whatever. I don't believe you. I'm looking back. I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking right now. I'm looking back and I'm like, yes, that's. Oh, this. That's what. So you really telling me on Friday I wore Lakers?

8:08James Harrison:That hat. Yeah, it was a Lakers hat, but it was a jersey, though. The hat. Hey, hey, listen, don't let me get in your. Hey, Joe, don't let me get in your. Don't get in my head. Don't get in my head. Just know I was telling you what. I told you what was supposed to happen. We won, like I told you, and we're going to win again. And we're going to be 2-2. Listen, where my tie at, man? You know, I get fresh from the gym. I got it. Come on. Yeah, sir. Hey. Okay. What's up? I'm about to get popped tonight. No, you tripping. You know me not. No, you're not. And when they do, I was really hoping. I'm like, I hope Joe.

8:48You wanted us to lose bad. I'm like, I hope Joe come in here with something clean. you know. Hey, listen, all I'm saying is I'm just testing the theory out. And it's been 100 % so far.

8:59James Harrison:You keep saying that. I'd be forgetting what jersey I wore, so I can't understand exactly if it's right. That's good. I don't want you paying attention. I don't want you paying attention. Hey, I want you to represent Cleveland every day. I can't trust you. I think you're lying. That's the thing. I ain't gonna lie to you, Joe. What I need to lie to you for, Joe? Because you don't want my teams to succeed. You do not want my cast to succeed. You don't want the Lakers to succeed. That's why you lie to me. If I'm lying to you, then you can go back and see it and be like, oh, he's lying to me. Okay.

9:30You're right. You're right. The problem is, ask the chat.

9:34James Harrison:They know what you wore. Did I wear? What did I wear on Friday? I wore a Lakers hat. I know I for sure wore a Lakers hat. I definitely remember that. It said Lakers champions hat. Number five yellow jersey, right? number five yellow jersey chat chat please i wore lakers i wore the champions i wore a 17 time nba i did i did wear the hat but i don't remember what jersey you were it was it was listen it was nothing cast it was all associated to laker colors before that it was cleveland dang i wore something and it got yeah i did okay i wore a steelers jersey and a lakers hat everybody know joe hey it's okay all right okay all right it's okay all right you're testing it there hey why do i need to lie joe why i'm not a liar joe have you ever been known to be a liar joe what a steelers practice no that's so bad that's so bad you want to call your boy a liar just so you don't feel guilty about you giving your team all this voodoo.

10:41All this voodoo. Joe, I didn't, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just reporting the news, Joe. I'm just, I'm just reporting the news. I'm honestly, I'm honestly blown about this because. You want to go change right now? No, it's too late.

10:56James Harrison:We're already on the show, Joe. No, we doing it. We here, we here. I'm not. Yeah, I mean, we here. I'm not believing you. I don't believe you. Hey, that's, I can make you a believer. All right. I ain't got to do it. I expected for me to come on here and tell you that you told me my Cavs was going to get spanked, and they didn't. Detroit Pistons came to the camp. I ain't going to lie to you. When you went off camera, Joe, and you came back. And now you're putting me into— Now you're trying to bad boys with me into that. You're trying to do the double, triple reverse on me. I'm just telling you.

11:31Joe, we can play it back. When you went and first started, you had on some Cavs. You switched, came off camera, came back, and you had on Lakers. I didn't make that up, Joe. You did that. I mean, we can see that from, you know, the people know. They know what you had on. They just don't know what you had on before.

11:51James Harrison:Yeah, no, because you saw pre. But we do. But we do. We do, Joe. Hey, I bet you the Lakers happy that you ain't got on no Lakers gear right now. They go actually get one and not get swept. You know what? Look, if that's the case, then I'll really start paying attention to what I wear. If your theory is starting to work out, for sure. Look, hey, Joe, man. I'm going to come in this joint. Oklahoma City thundered up. I'm going to got the Shea Gilders out of Xanders. I just bought them. I should come in with the Shea Butters on. Oh, you're going to go ahead and listen. I'm just going to throw them in the Butters right now.

12:24James Harrison:The all-white Shea Butters. They look fresh, too. You purposely do it, Joe. I don't think it's going to work, though. I don't think it's going to work. I don't want to put that on. If you're conscious of it. I don't want to put you in my way. Yeah. I don't want to go out of my way and put anybody on anybody. I want to go out there and ball. I expect us to win. Drake ain't going to bet on the person that he don't really want to win, even though when he do bet on them, they lose. I mean, he ain't going to do that just reverse. He ain't going to do that. He just can't. All right, man. I think he bet on the Lakers.

12:55James Harrison:Just watch the game tonight. Watch Donovan Mitchell. Watch Jared Allen. Watch Max Struce. Watch my boys do exactly what they do. I'm going to watch. Make it 2-2. All right. Look here, man. Going over here to the Steelers, man. That's all. It's an article that says Omar Khan raises concerns over Aaron Rodgers' meeting. Now, listen. Steelers and Aaron Rodgers were reportedly set to meet this weekend to discuss the 2026 season, but those intentions may have fallen apart. and GMO Markhan said this over the weekend. I don't know where specifically Aaron is. I can tell you that Aaron and I and Mike McCarthy and Aaron and Aaron's representative, we've all had some good conversations since the end of the season, since Mike got here, and it's been positive.

13:48But, yeah, I don't know where Aaron is at the moment. We continue to have conversations, and they're positive, and we have good experience with him last year, And I think he would probably echo the same thing. And, you know, conversations continue. That right there, Joe, that don't sound like concern to me. I don't know. You tell me what that sounds like to you, Joe. Do that sound like concern? I don't hear concern.

14:14James Harrison:It's other people coming out and saying that Aaron Rodgers was supposed to be here this weekend. Until I hear it from the horse's mouth when he said, oh, did the Steeler say it? Did Omar say it? No, they have not. They've been constant. They've been saying exactly what they've been saying this whole time. We've been in constant contact with Aaron Rodgers. We expect him to come. I think that's what Omar and them are saying. Everybody that's reporting and saying that Aaron Rodgers is coming, I laugh at. I'm going to laugh. I'm going to laugh at you because Aaron Rodgers is going to do whatever Aaron Rodgers wants to do.

14:47James Harrison:I've been saying this, and every time people are going to report on it, they're going to keep saying, Oh, A-Rod, he's going to be in the air. We're tracking his PJ. He's supposed to be coming in there maybe this weekend. and we know something. No, you don't. Unless Aaron Rodgers, this is what I'm trying to figure out. We're going to keep talking about it because everybody keeps saying, oh, no, we got something. And everybody's going to ask about it and trying to figure out what's going on. You don't know. Nobody knows. I don't know. I know Omar Khan is in, he said he's in communication with A-Rod and I believe it.

15:18James Harrison:Last year, A-Rod didn't sign until June 5th. It's still OTAs is coming. He didn't got OTAs. Some of the events don't come to OTAs. It's the mandatory camp after the OTAs, and then you have training camp that's coming. So June 5th is when he signed last year. All these other pre-dates, I'm looking at people like, why do you keep thinking or expecting him to sign before? Understanding we got a new coach, all that. A-Rod don't give a damn about none of that. He's grown. He's chilling. He's in contact with them, whatever. But if you're trying to depend on Aaron Rodgers' schedule and contemplate when he's going to sign, I'm looking at last year's evidence.

15:56He didn't sign.

19:13James Harrison:Until June 5th, no OTAs, none of that stuff. Before training camp comes, if A-Rod's on the squad, then that's when, June 5th, that's the day I'm kind of looking at. Until before then, all these people saying, oh, I'm thinking A-Rod's going to come in. I don't believe it. So Omar, he's saying he doesn't know specifically where A-Rod's at. At least he's been saying this the whole time. He never said A-Rod was coming in this weekend to sign. That was somebody else that reported it. oh yeah, now we're looking for flights. Now everybody's at the airport waiting on A-Rod. Not me. Not Joe. Not Debo. Not us.

19:47James Harrison:Because we know A-Rod. You're going to come and you're going to sign when you're on the sign. You're in communication with the coaches. That's all I need. You're like, when they said that, I laughed. I'm like, how do you know? Did you talk to A-Rod? And now all of a sudden, it's past the weekend. We're at Monday. Did A-Rod show up? No, he didn't. And for me, I expected it. You expected it. And when he comes, I expect him to sign before the season starts, before training camp. If training camp starts and A-Rod's not on the team, now everybody's looking crazy. Joe. What's up? I'm not a person that has any ego left.

20:31I gave it up. I gave it up. I got a little bit. Maybe a little bit. But I'm just going back to if this was the old me way back in the G. And it's a whole bunch of attention on what I'm doing. Okay. So, personally, what I think happened is somebody got set up. They got told some misinformation on purpose for the purpose of just figuring out if, you know, Let's go. Say something. I don't know. I don't I don't I don't know what it was, Joe. So here it goes. Joe, I had a person that you trust somebody until they give you a reason not to trust them. I would believe. Yes. Yes. I'm not, Joe. I'm not naive.

21:25You call me naive. It's very, very, very, very. See, I'm the youngest of 14. OK, so I got to see and hear all the bullshit that go along in the conversations that my siblings told people, other people, tried to tell the mama and daddy, all that boys. Okay. So I'm of the thought process. I don't trust you until you give me a reason to trust you. Okay. Sometimes that trust or that reason naturally, you know, happens through the process of knowing somebody long enough and you finding out things that basically they said when you weren't in rooms that you wouldn't know anything about because you heard it from someone else that you already had trusted.

22:12So now to be like, Hey, I want to figure out if I could trust this person and you like the attention, you will go and manufacture something. And what's the easiest way to find out if you can trust or believe somebody? Tell them a lie. See if it get out. Tell them a lie.

Read the full transcript

22:30James Harrison:See if it get out. Hey, you tell them a lie. Yeah, that's a fact. And then you find out if the lie come back to you. That's the easiest way to find out if you can trust somebody with information that you tell them, hey, don't tell nobody. But hey, I know hearing it's coming in. Yeah, no, that's right. Especially if they end up breaking news business, Joe. Now, what I want to know is who was the source of this information? And how did you get that information? Was your source directly from a person that talked directly to Aaron? Or was it a second, third, fourth person? So I want to know who the direct source is because your information right now, whatever you said, and what you, oh, it's true, I know, it's da-da-da, I'm telling you, it's da-da-da, but you never get it.

23:23No. Now you just got some misinformation and you just got burnt. And you probably burnt the person that told you to.

23:31James Harrison:Oh, for sure. So that's where I think it's at and what I think has happened. Because, hey, man, if you like a little bit of attention, why not manufacture something? Hey, we're coming in. They've been looking. They've been foaming at the mouth like a rabbit dog to see where Aaron is at. What's going on? Hey, hey, tell him I'm coming in. on a private PJ with no tail number. Yeah. What you just said, that makes complete sense. Definitely, you want to find out who's the rat in the house. You give out some information and see if that lies back to you. That's factual. You want to find out who the rat is?

24:09Smoke him out. Give him some misinformation and see how fast it gets back to you. And matter of fact, if you want to give some good misinformation, give two. tell him, oh, it's going to be this or this.

24:22James Harrison:That way you know which source it came from. Yeah. I'm with you on that because this is all I'm saying. Yeah. That part and the same thing. You don't know what A-Rod is doing unless you're literally talking to him. So it got to be something. Where it's false information getting leaked. But yeah, I'm still in the fact of A-Rod is still chilling. He's cooling. He's in contact with them. Omar don't sound like, he don't sound off. Nothing sounds off. Why would he be concerned about where he is at? He is not signed to the team. He's not. Why would I be concerned about where he's at? We're talking. We're having great conversations from what he's saying.

25:01They're communicating with him, his agent, and everybody else. So why would he be concerned about where Aaron Rodgers is when he is not signed to the team to have to be concerned about where he is during any type of activities that's going on? Yeah. That's all I'm saying, Joseph. Hey, I'm with you. Somebody got smoked out, Joe, and they don't even know they got smoked out.

25:25James Harrison:Somebody got smoked out and had no idea that they was getting played. Yeah. Got to be more careful. Got to be more careful. Got to be more careful. Going over here to Cleveland, man. We got a lot of things going on. Man, listen. They said Todd Munkin have tipped the Browns' hand on Taylor Greene's future. Now, the Browns kicked off day one of their rookie minicamp on Friday. Yes, yes, yes, they did. That man's sixth-round rookie, telling Green. Yes, you're right. Or Dylan Gabriel got to handle the bulk of the practice snaps. Yeah, it's rookie camp. What the – it is. Anyway, when asked about Green, Monty sounded like a man who expected Green to be familiar in the team's short – to be firmly – sorry, sorry.

26:13Formally in the team's short and long-term plans. While he said it's too early to say that the team would create a special package for plays for Green on game days, he refused to rule out short yardage, low red zone, and third down scenarios if Green can progress in certain areas of his game. Joe. Yo. Do you. Listen, what's going on with y 'all Cleveland writers, man? They just ain't got nothing else to do. Like, what's going on? That's what I'm... How is he tipping his hat? Tell me.

26:52James Harrison:Debo, that's what I'm telling you. He's not. He's talking on the other guys. This is rookie minicamp. Who else is going to be there? We drafted him, obviously. We talked about what he did back in the day, how tall he is, how fast he is, the attributes that he does have. He's a young quarterback. And this is the time when he gets the reps and it's time for him to see what he can do. I'm in the fan of not, we got so many quarterbacks now too. When I'm saying Deshaun Watson, Shador Sanders, cool. Dylan Gabriel and Jalen and Taylon Green. I'm not, we need to have three quarterbacks on the team. It's going to be, Deshaun's going to be there because of the bag.

27:34James Harrison:I believe in Shador Sanders. and when that third quarterback, like, we're going to have to have practice. So it's going to be Taylor Greene or Dylan Gabriel. If Taylor Greene is looking really good, I'm not mad at him being able to come up one and be over Dylan Gabriel because we've seen what he can do, and I don't believe he can be a quarterback in this NFL to be a starting quarterback for our team, for the Browns. He showed what he could do. So now when we say three quarterbacks, okay, Taylor Greene, we got Deshaun Watson, and we still have Shador. These are two young quarterbacks that we still have.

28:04James Harrison:Shador in his second year, Taylor in his first, Deshaun is the vet that can about to be out of there. You know what I'm saying? So still watch, learn, see what's going on, Shador, how that thing works out. But we still got those two talented young quarterbacks that I think that we could still be able to see what they can do. And having talent at the quarterback is not a problem. Like if we do have a situation where we do have Deshaun Watson, I believe in Shador Sanders and Taylon Green is a young prospect where he's big you we talked about it Debo we was like if the Steelers could get him that'll be a nice project to have tall fast can make the throws all he needs to get get a coach around and get some weapons we can see what he could do so with my with my well my thing is the the the article makes it look like obviously the Browns aren't doing nothing crazy it's a young quarterback it's the rookie minicamp this is when he gets reps obviously And you don't want your coach, if he's bashing him, like, oh, no, he obviously has no shot.

29:01James Harrison:If you see a little bit of something into him, speak highly on your guys. Like, okay, that's cool. You drafted him. You see good things. That's fine. Your vets aren't even there. So, obviously, I mean, sometimes I think they just try to stir up stuff that I don't think really is anything. For me, personally, Joe, I don't think he's tipping his hat. I actually think he's smart of me. I think it's smart of him to say, you know what? It's a possibility that Taylor Greene could be part of our offense. I would have said, you know what? Maybe we will create a special package. Got other people thinking about it.

29:41What? Come on. Situationally. Yes. And, you know, anything's possible. And he said that. We're going to see how it goes. Why? I want you to think and have to worry about everything that we're going to do. Yes. Thank you. that may get to the table, he's not tipping his hat. He's giving everybody else more things to have to worry about. Like, even, like, all you got, look at this dude, man. What is he, 6 '6"? The boy ran like a 4-4-4-3, something like that crazy. Yes. He's big, athletic, and can throw. So if you create a special package for him, you get him into the low red zone, you get him into areas where you cut down on him having to worry about the things of the mechanical.

30:23issues. The inconsistency in being able to process the defense. Why? I make you have to do only two reads. After that, after that, you use your athletic ability and you get up out of there. I'm taking a quarterback that's a true wildcat quarterback that can still throw a bomb accurately down the field if dude wants to take off and go. If that's the read, allow him to use his athletic ability if it's not there. And if it is there, launch that down the field. Y 'all are out of your rabbit mind. What he's doing right now is he is possibly already, especially game one, creating more work for D coordinators.

31:09Thousand percent. Especially if you get anything that looks close to that in preseason. Even if you don't do it, you got to put it out there so they can see it. So they got to worry about it.

31:23James Harrison:Hey, listen, Debo, I love the way that you kept your mind open and just not. When you have quarter, it seems like they always want to have a mess at quarterback for us. Like we have Shador finally, we did draft him. A lot of people, some people just don't like him, just don't want him to succeed. Deshaun Watson, you know, we got drafted at first. They didn't want to see. It's just we want to have negativity going around the quarterback position. We got two quarterbacks there that are fighting, and now we drafted another guy that could potentially, if these other guys don't work, he could be successful.

32:01James Harrison:So it's not a bad place to be in, but you want to make drama when it's not. You got to realize, Joe, y 'all been so sorry for so long that the only thing that's good that can come out of that is creating drama. And they done got stuck in a protocol of creating drama as writers. And they don't know what else to do but to stir up shit. they can't stick with oh this guy they just hey let me stir up some shit because we might be shit because we've been shit so let me get something started it's a yeah listen joe yes say right now y 'all go out there and win i mean you ain't gonna beat us but y 'all go out there and win i can fix a lot of y 'all problems a thousand percent but will it will it fix their writing i don't know they still may sit there and be like oh they They won a game, but you know, hey, they don't.

32:54James Harrison:No, I'm telling you, consistent winning. They did this before. It's got to be, it's got, our offense starts moving and we start scoring. We got to start scoring points. We got to start scoring points. Defense, special teams wasn't too good last year either. We just got to be a full round team. Score points, special teams, our defense, be what you always been. We just can't have a lack off at that. You know what I'm saying? But every season is different. People are going to be moving around. But defense continue to bowl. special teams ball out and let's get some points on the board like a real live NFL offense when we come out there and we know we can go get 21-24 that's not too much to ask for yeah but you know what now that I think about it didn't you the linebacker that y 'all had he's out for another another season right yeah but we went and got we went and signed we went and signed the linebacker my man dang we went and just signed a linebacker just like him What's my man's name?

33:54James Harrison:No, we went in free agency. We got Quincy. Quincy. Quincy. There we go. Quincy. Okay. Quincy Williams, linebacker. Just like the linebacker that we got. And then you know we got the defensive rookie of the year. You know what I'm saying? At the other line. Yeah, this is true. He's coming into his own. You got both, right? We got both. You got the rookie and the play. You got both. Yes, brother. I mean, hey, you got all that and y 'all still one. No, that's what I'm trying to tell you. The defense is not the problem. That's why when we talk about it, we got to get some points. Offensive line, special team.

34:24You got offensive line. We do.

34:26James Harrison:We created the offensive line. We going to see how well they play. It looked good on paper. They're going to have to go and ball out. I ain't going to lie. You went from having nothing to having five. That's far better than what you had. A real five. Because you ain't had shit. You ain't even had five bodies to even put nothing in place with. You just be throwing out disrespect. We have five bodies.

38:27James Harrison:they were moving around they were interchangeable we got a real five now let's not talk about the past going forward okay listen I'm not I'm just speaking what it was how it is what it transitioned into where you're at now if we can't look at the past we got to make sure we don't make those mistakes again, you know, so that we don't continue that, you know. After, you know. Yeah. I mean, I would love for y 'all to do it, you know. But just, you know, I'm just saying, you ain't going to win in North. That's all I'm really saying. I'm trying to tell you. After the draft, I'm trying to tell you, this is what happened.

39:17James Harrison:The draft was what we needed for the first time when my boy Andrew Barry, honestly, in a smart way. Last year's draft was great. We did. We got some. When you lose, your draft should be great, Joe. I understand that. You're losers. No, no, no. Not no. Just because that means you get one pick. One pick higher. But then at the end of the day, the other draft picks ended up hitting. You got to pick the right people and they have to hit. The third round picks, your first round pick could be trash, not make the team. Like, that's real talk. That's if you're a trash picker. You know, you got to be a trash picker to get a guy in the first or second round that you don't re-sign.

39:55When I asked you this, you said,

39:57James Harrison:you said, I don't want to speak on it, but we did. How about, all right, I'm not even going to talk bad about our guys right now. It's not a bad session. Who are we going to talk bad about? What you talking about? Who is our guys? I'm getting confused as hell because you do a lot of flip-flopping. Us, them, they. Who the f***? Sometimes all of your picks don't hit. Who is, who is, so like we said, with our good old our guys. Say something. Who the fuck is our guys, Joe? Our receivers. We haven't been able to sign our receivers. Who is us? Are we talking about the Cleveland? Who is us? Are we talking about Steelers or are we talking about Pittsburgh Steelers?

40:40Okay. Now, what you saying? Huh?

40:43James Harrison:You know what? We go. It's not even getting into it right now. Bruh, I'm going to I'm going to I'm going to go ahead I might want to hands you, bro. No, no, don't do that. being disrespectful, bro. Oh, no, no. I think you're being disrespectful. Hey, man, I'm a - We got friends. We got friends. Look here, brother. Look, look. Hey, ladies and gentlemen, I got to introduce somebody to y 'all. Today, we have another undrafted free agent out of the Kent State University, picked up by the Cleveland Browns in 2005. He would then go on to be a three-time Pro Bowler. Along with a first-team All-Pro 2009, 10 years in the league, became one of the greatest kick returners in the NFL.

41:33The greatest kick returner in Cleveland Browns history ever. A thousand percent. The man finished with over 10 ,000 kickoff return yards. That's top 10 in the NFL. Number one with the Browns. 13 ,488 combined return yards. That's number one in the Browns history. The man got eight kickoff returns for a touchdown. That's tied for the NFL all-time record.

42:02James Harrison:Yes, it is. Eight and the only player to return. Two 100-yard kickoff returns for a touchdown. Yes. Same game in NFL history. named to the All-Decade Team 2000 as a kick returner, inducted into the Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame in 2023. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my old college quarterback, Joshua Cribs. Let's go. Yes, sir. What's up, guys? What's up, baby? What's up, brother Cribs? Can y 'all hear me good? You know it. You know it. Now, look, Debo, James, look, I'm in our old stomping ground. Yes, sir. Right behind me. That's where we used to have study tables in the loge. Okay. In the top of the Mac Center.

43:03So I got a lot of goosebumps going on. That's good. For sure, for sure. I know you just got hired over there as the assistant for, sorry. Special teams, yep. Yes, special teams. Yeah, for sure, for sure. Yeah. How you like it? I love it, man. This is for me. You know, and y 'all know this as ex-players, man. It's hard for us to let the game go, right? To just walk away from something we've been doing so long. And for me, coaching now is just like playing. I never thought ever I would want to ever coach. Seeing the long hours they put in and y 'all know this. Yeah, no, for sure. Like we don't want to do that.

43:43We want to get out of the building as soon as possible. But once the game and the lights cut off for me, you know, after putting so much of my life into it, you know, this was the most logical step for me to hold on to that edge, to that, you know, that all-purpose football mentality that I still possessed.

44:05James Harrison:Well, Cribs, man, I say one thing too, bro. It's so crazy because you from D.C. Yes, sir. You from the crib. You ended up playing. You ended up going to the Browns. And that's how we got to play together. You know, my boy Debo, because y 'all was both at Kent State. So it's just crazy. I was love all over the place. You was like, I never really had a player to kind of play with both of us in two different, you just say, two different times. So thanks for having you on the show, bro. You are a legend, obviously, from the crib, me being from back at home. What was your first moment, bro, back from childhood that you would think that could actually change your life with playing football?

44:42It's just Pop Warner, man. Like being able to do something at a high level. I'll tell you this. And you know this. James Noah, too, man. We didn't win often with the Browns. We had one winning season. that uh that 10 and 6 year yes and um it was for me it was sort of like redundant like you know losing and then coming home feeling like I'm putting it all out there on the field one um I remember one game we get back in town and I'm driving driving back home on 71 and um you know it was just a somber moment and I felt like it was becoming a drag the sport that I had played Pop Warner Pee Wee Football League in D.C.

45:28all the way up to through college, the NFL. I'm finally here. And now in my soul, it felt like I was sad. So what I did was I rededicated myself to the game, to the sport that, you know, we love. I went out. I saw a rec ball game going on and I kind of stood back in the stands and kind of, you know, looked at the young kids playing and grabbed a little bit of that momentum that they had. And knowing that every kid out there on the field, they want to go pro. They trying to play their heart out. And for me, it was a rededication moment. And I had to think back to when I was playing every day at recess.

46:07And, you know, it just the love that I had for the game way back when, when it was fun. Because if y 'all don't know, when I do motivational speaking engagements, you know, for high schools or, you know, most importantly for the young kids, the elementary kids, I'm like, how would you like to make millions of dollars to go to recess, right? And they don't understand because every day at recess we played football. It was throwback tackle or some type of football. And now you mean to tell me they're going to pay me millions of dollars to go to recess? That's how I had to rededicate myself and look at the sport, whether we winning or losing, hey, I'm here.

46:47I'm here. Make the best of it.

46:49James Harrison:The love of it. The love. So I want to say, bro, take me inside of your relationship with Debo at Kent State. Oh, my God. What was that like, bro? Oh, my. So, look, I'm going to have to say a lot of alleged, right? Because I know Debo remember, but I want to keep his integrity, right? Because, like, his name was J-Bo. Yeah. You know, the play on words for Debo. I know where people know me from, depending on what they call me. Depending on what they call you. I got J-Bo, I got D-Bo, I got Pitbull, I got Silverback, I got Two Day Vet. Depending on the name they call me, I know what they call me from.

47:29That's where you know. And look, I was introduced to him by upperclassmen. It was like, he was like, you know, had his own, even though he had his own apartment, it was like his office. Like, I couldn't just come to him by myself. it had to be a qualifier you know one of his teammates an upperclassman to bring me in his presence and he don't know that it was like a big stipulation I'm the young quarterback and I'm like dang and they like yeah man that's D-Bo that's J-Bo you know like stay away from him man just stay on his good side like if you stay on his good side you be good bro let me tell you man we had the red jerseys on in practice

48:11James Harrison:Dang, Devo, you got to do better, bro. He did that. It ain't my fault. Look, it ain't my fault. That's universal. Stop. I told them to tell him to stop running in 7-0-7. It was, look. He was running in 7-0-7. I said, coach, next time he runs in 7-0-7, I'm going to tell you that. 7-0-7. I'm just trying to do the quarterback, you know, roll out. Ain't nothing there. Let me go ahead and run it out. Yes. He's not having it. 7-0-7. Bro, I got on a red jersey. You don't hit the court. I might as well have had on a yellow jersey for being hurt. You had on a red jersey. I mean, stop. Bro, he was. Stop.

48:49James Harrison:Josh is making. Listen, he making like he did it one time, bro. Kribs is not a liar. He's not making this up. Bro, he hit me. Look, I'm going through a fake option. He's exaggerating. Like it was one time. One time. Look, I ran a fake option. I pitched the ball. Seven on seven. I let go of. He knocked me out, bro. So I was like confused because I'm like, I didn't understand. Like, I'm like, we hitting practice? Like, they hit the quarterback in practice? Like, they not worried about me making it to the game? Yeah, and my jersey's right. Yeah. I promise you, bro. He's lying, bro. I told them. I got up and looked at the jersey.

49:28He would take off. He exaggerating, bro. He would take off in 7-0-7 when he couldn't find something. Instead of throwing the ball away. I said, Coach, or Coach JP. I said, Coach, if he run again, I said, y 'all doing all the ooh and the nine. We ain't got no D-line out here. I said, if he run again, I said, I'm going to fire off on him. I said, I swear. On seven on seven. On seven on seven. And that tells you right then and there that the coach should have said, hold on. Somebody will come in. We need to sell for James. We need to sell for James. Because, look, as soon as he hit me, the next play, before I even get the next play, I'm talking to Coach Dean Pease.

50:05and I'm like, coach, you know, I kind of flagged him over. He was like, you all right, son? I'm like, we getting hit? He was like, no, no, no, no, Red. He won't hit you. He won't hit you again. That's just James. You know, that's just James. He won't hit you again. And I'm like, can he see? Can he see? Yeah, like, do he know? Does he know that? Because I'm like, okay, once is an accident, right? Mm-hmm. So, you know, I'm not running an option. It's in practice, bro. Lemo 11 in practice. We still got the red jerseys on, bro. Same style. I come down the line. I pitch it. He knocked me out, bro, again.

50:43Like the wind. And you know what it feels like to get your wind knocked out of you and you stay down? Yes. I flash forwarded to that moment when I was playing with the Browns, and I know we'll talk about that later.

50:55James Harrison:See? But it just hurt. Like, it was like... Right into it, Cribs. We going right into that one. And so, look, he has been known, right, to just not follow rules as we all know. One thousand percent. Like, it's just his M.O. What the? Yeah. It just don't apply to him. No, that's what I'm saying. It never did. No. It never did, honestly. What was the rules when I hit you, Cribs? The rules was, it was thump. That's what the speed of the game. It was thump. I thumped you. You just went down. Bro, I was half your size. It ain't my fault. A thump on the quarterback? You put your helmet and shoulder pad in me like you was trying to take me.

51:40Like I was playing for Akron University. I did not go to the ground with you, bro. That's a thump.

51:44James Harrison:Nope. Not on the quarterback. Not on the quarterback. The way he was hitting me in practice, they would suspend him in the NFL for hitting a QB like that. Oh, my God. Suspension. Oh, my God. They would review it. I don't know why we brought this dude on. I promise you. You know why? We brought truth tellers on the show. Josh Cribs is a truth teller. I'm trying to tell you. I'm U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. We all get distracted when we drive, whether it's from our phones or kids in the backseat bickering. But how we handle these distractions can be a matter of life or death.
