In short

Brett Keisel (Steelers) discusses his friendship with Deebo Samuel, Steelers draft takes, post-retirement life, farm/hunting stories, and his business “Mighty Oak Adventures.” He also shares Steelers culture memories and a few football anecdotes, plus COVID/farm-related stories.

Guests

Brett Keisel, former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle (NFL career; later wealth/other work mentioned). Joe and Deebo are hosts/recurring figures in the conversation; Deebo Samuel is referenced as a close friend/teammate connection, not as a separate guest in this transcript.

Key claims

  • “Shear the Beard” charity started in 2010 for a leukemia-fighting child/families; last event before COVID; 10-year run.
  • Keisel’s farm is behind Seven Springs; black bears are common; “stand up big” advice; they’ve had bear sightings with cubs on trail cameras.
  • After retiring, he stepped away from football grind and built Mighty Oak Adventures to take corporate groups to unplug (fishing, trap shooting, whitewater rafting).
  • Steelers draft: he likes the team’s draft approach and a 7th-round pick (Navy; Miller; Mount Lebanon mentioned).

Notable examples

  • First hunt: a black bear ran near a stand; a companion couldn’t pull a bow due to shaking; bear heard rattling and ran.
  • COVID: Keisel says he called friends after feeling sick; he and others reportedly didn’t get sick.
  • Steelers moment: Keisel cites recovering a fumble in Super Bowl XLIII as a chills-inducing play.

3:48James Harrison:Matter of fact, as we were talking about, you were talking about charities and all that. You started with Shear the Beard. What was that process? Do you still do it anymore? Because I ain't got no invites. Yeah, we haven't done it in a while. I haven't done it really. The last one was right before COVID. Now was our 10th year. I really appreciate you, James. You always showed up and helped out. You know, the fans love to see you. But it started in 2010. And we went on our run, you know, and I was around Aaron Smith a lot and his son, Elijah, who was fighting leukemia. And just hearing and seeing and getting the first eye look on the fight that those kids and families go through and the things that they got to overcome, you know, really made me want to do something.

4:37And fortunately, Steeler Nation is unlike anything else. you know we were able to do it for 10 years i i grew my beard out from 2010 to 2020 each year all year wouldn't shave it like it looked bad tebow right yeah it looked like trash it was wow but they would all show up to share the beard we've had you know a ton of people come and cut it off not only my teammates but like we have brett michaels and uh or sean michaels the hbk line when the penguins won the cup that's kind of how it got started too like the penguins won the cup in 09 and i was like man those beards look smooth on them boys like i i've never really went you know caveman with mine and so uh started growing it we kept winning so you know i'm superstitious like let it turn into something great.

5:40There's a million dollar man makeover.

5:44James Harrison:Yeah, so good. Definitely. It's awesome to be a stealer. What other team would that happen with, huh? No, that's what I'm saying. Hey, listen. You got a beard, no hair, and this man get a head and shoulders commercial with Troy because of the beard. Man, Heinz Ward. We got Heinz Ward in, man. Yeah, that's the power of Paula Malamu right there. No question. That's the power of Jesus right there, baby. Get the boys involved. Oh, my goodness. Matter of fact, we're going to have to get back up there to the farm, man. You've been saying, hey, we're going to do this, do that, and then, you know, you 50 ,000 miles away here, there, all that.

6:30James Harrison:You know what I'm saying? Kiesel got three kids. All of them play hockey. You know what I'm saying? I don't know. That's all my hockey people out there watching, you know, the grind. So we travel all over. We go New York, Chicago, Dallas, like Tampa. I mean, all over the place to play hockey. And the season's long. You say, where's the farm at, Brett? I think he cut out. Got to be more careful. That man. You cut out a little bit. You got that bad Wi-Fi. I need to get, yeah, I need to upgrade. I'm up here in my barn. Let's see. Yeah, he was asking you where the farm at. The farm's out behind Seven Springs.

7:20James Harrison:Okay. Yes, I know exactly where the springs are. So, yeah, it's right behind Seven Springs. it's there's bears all over up there quick story when i first got it i took john swisham out to hunt and uh i was like i didn't have tree stands or nothing up yeah and i'm like just sit here by this tree you know this will be fine right here i'm gonna go down here and uh i'm sitting i i put a tree stand up for me i had one but you know i didn't have them with anything kind of selfish of me yeah yeah no y 'all go ahead stay down there with the bears yeah well i really didn't think they would mess with them but i'm sitting in my stand and all of a sudden this black bear comes like running right by me i'm like that's awesome that was like the first time i'd seen one on my farm and uh i'm like that's great i wait like 45 more minutes get down go back to pick up matt and matt is like white ghost white like he's seen a ghost Yeah.

8:25And I'm like, what's up? And he's like, I can't believe you put me here on this ground with these bears, bro. And I'm like, what happened? He's like, that bear came like 10 feet from me, man, and stood up. And I was like, oh, what'd you do? Because all he had was a bow and arrow. Yes. So I'm like, what'd you do? He's like, well, I went to pull my bow back when I was shaking so bad that I couldn't even do that. and he heard the rattling of the arrow and ran towards you.

8:55James Harrison:And I was like, oh, yeah. You saw the bear running away from your crew. Yeah. Needless to say, you know, that was an awesome first hunt. And, you know, it's cool when you have those wild encounters when nothing goes wrong. Yeah, Brett, because my plan was I want to go out there with you. We go, go. But this is what I'm saying. You got more stands now, for sure. I know you got more stands. Oh, yeah, I got plenty of stands. Just go and roll around. Just go and roll around. You don't want to hunt that dead. I'm standing right next to Brett. Wherever Brett's at, that's where I'm at. Listen, dude, he got things you can ride in and all that.

9:36James Harrison:Just go ride around. You can fish. We can barbecue right there. Hot dogs. I need to be chaperoned when I'm out there. That's what I'm saying. I'm going to be chaperoned, me and Brett. Riding around. You're going to be chaperoned. It's easy work. We got you. Everywhere you go, just make sure you got a weapon on you. I know y 'all got the weapons. Y 'all going to make sure I'm good to go. Hey, listen, Keezo, Keezo, you remember when we went up there and we were checking the cameras. We had the kids with us. And I told you, you was like, we're about to go check this camera. I'm like, no, no, let me go get my gun.

10:17James Harrison:He's like, man, let's go be all right. Let's go be all right, man. I'm like, no, I got to get to the car and get my gun just in case something transpired. So we go check the cameras. Nothing happens, right? He calls me back later after he got the trail camera. And he's like, dude, a bear went right past the camera we picked up like five, ten minutes before we got there. If I had to stop to get my gun, we would have ran into it. And he said it had cubs. See? Yeah, three cubs. It got cooked. Hey, what's the – what you supposed to do when you see the bear? well it honestly black bears aren't nearly as dangerous as grizzly bears out in wyoming where those grizzly bears are those are really dangerous not only when they got cubs but by themselves they're always hungry they're always looking to eat they're trying to fatten up and humans are on the menu

11:11They still will come at you. You know, you still got to know what you're doing. But they're not as dangerous. And I think you just stand up big like you do, Joe, and be like, what's up? You got to really do that.

11:27James Harrison:That's a real thing. You got to just swell up. Yeah. Victim weight. What if I was talking about that victim weight? He says I'm victim weight. Anybody under 200, Kizu, he says their victim weight, I'm not going for that. I'm not going for that. I made too many tackles to be a victim. Listen, that's why I went back to the car. I said, stop. We're going to the car. I grabbed my 5 '7". Okay. Because I ain't about to be dealing with nothing. If I ain't got to do nothing but pop him in the air a few times to get him away. Yep. And I ain't victim weight, Joe. I ain't trying to fight with a bear. We would have had to fight a whole female bear with cubs because she would have thought we was trying to do something.

12:14James Harrison:Yep. We got our kids. We got to die. We got to die to fight with this bear. If I seen them, do you know bears are fast? I was thinking I might play dead or they're going to kill me if I play dead. I don't know. Black bear might leave you alone, right? Well, that's what they say. if they get on you, if they come and knock you down or something like that, the best thing you can do is just play dead. They'll chew on you a little bit, but sometimes they're not going to eat you, so good advice from the beard. I tell you this, Brett. I might not even have to play dead. When I see that run up on me, I just say, oh!

12:55Oh! Oh! Hopefully we don't have to go through that when you come out, Joe.

13:01James Harrison:Bro, because I'm going to be right by your side. We're going to be good. I believe in you, Brett. We'll be all right. Thank you. You guys can come up there. We'll do. You can film a show up there from the farm. We can show you the animals. Definitely. If you get your Wi-Fi right. Yeah, that's one of the things. That's a hard sell out there. You might have to bring a hot spot. Yes. No, we might have to film it and just put it on later. Yeah, they're going to have to edit it. Make sure everything, everything, make sure we get out there safely. That'd be good, man. Let's do it. Hey, man, like what you've been into?

13:39James Harrison:I know you started something over the course of the last, I want to say, decade or so. Like what you've been into since you, you know, retired? Yeah, thank you. When I got done playing ball, it was kind of like, what am I going to do now, you know? There was coaching offers and there was some media opportunities. you know my kids were kind of smaller and I I just felt like I needed to take a break from the game I knew if I went into coaching or right back into football I would always be like man give me your stuff if I didn't feel like you were doing what you should be doing give me your show and let me go out there because I really you know when you get done especially that first year it's really hard not to be involved in the grind we're so used to preparing our bodies to grind and go through it that that first year is rough but uh it was good for me to step away like we said earlier i've had an opportunity to really be around my kids i wanted to pick something to do that i could kind of pick my own schedule and figure out what i want to do so i created mighty oak adventures i got a great lady to help me out with logistics her name is michelle rosenthal she worked with the steelers for 10 years in community relations and uh it's been awesome we've we've partnered up with with several very successful corporations and companies around pittsburgh like 84 lumber and coppers and uh you know price water house it's just been fantastic to work with some of these big corporations and companies and take them out i kind of do like what we've been talking about with the farm i take them to unique locations where we can kind of unplug for a little bit get shut our emails off yeah and we go fishing and we share experiences like fishing or shooting trap or we've done whitewater rafting and things like that and we eat good we tell stories we talk about how to get the team better.

15:44And it's been...

15:54Y 'all hear me or am I cutting out? You cut out.

15:57James Harrison:We had it. We had it until the last about five seconds. This Wi-Fi in this barn is bad, huh? Yes, sir. Yes, sir. You didn't take I'm loving it. You detach. You out there doing real things. No, he had his barn at his house. Oh. Well, the cool thing is, is like what happened, Joe, is when we were playing, I would get my teammates up here to my place and we'd do it a lot like Honey Camp where, you know, when you're out together a lot and you can come back by the fire and you get a big fire going, you start talking and talk and shop and how to make things better and how to work on things. And, you know, I've had James and Troy and Aaron Smith and, you know, Ben and all the guys around this fire.

16:51Yeah. When we needed to chat, you know, and I realized, like, why couldn't I do this in a corporate environment? 21:22James Harrison:It's all good in the woods. It's all good in the woods. Hey, hey, hey, listen, man. Listen, so during COVID, right?

21:35James Harrison:All right, so listen. Go ahead. This is funny. Y 'all got something. Me and my boys, we get back from Arizona, right? So we done came back from Arizona. And when we get back from Arizona, we go hog hunting. Okay. We go hog hunting, and we out there for like, you know, like probably 12, 14 hours or whatever. So after we get done with that, we're out towards Kizos. So we go and we stop at Kizos. We hang out, you know, eat up some burgers, do some fish, do some grilling, all that. But that's where we need to go. But, dude, it's the greatest thing ever. Right. So all that goes down. It's great. I get home the next day. I'm feeling like I'm catching like like like like my I'm feeling like my allergies are acting up. Yeah, like what is coming down to. Right. So that night. I throw a fever. COVID going down, right? I'm like, damn. I'm like, damn, I got COVID. I got the vid. So, they like, who you been around? I'm like, oh, shit.

22:53James Harrison:I got to call Kizo. Yep. I said, Kizo. That was red hot. Hey, I said, this shit done went down, bro. I said, I got it for sure. I said, I don't know if the boys got it. I said, but y 'all got to go ahead, get checked up, whatever. They ain't get it, but he was mad than the motherfucker. I'm like, how you going to get mad? I didn't know. I didn't mean to catch the... I didn't know. I didn't try to catch the vid. But that... Keezel, you didn't get it, though. Hey. James M. Fenton, yeah. No, we didn't get it, though. None of us got it. None of us got sick. We were good. But when he called me with that thing, and he was like...

23:36You know, because James calls me sometimes and messes with me, if you didn't know about that. Oh, okay. Yeah. When he calls me, I'm like, you're playing with me, right? And he's like, I wish I was. I wish I was. I'm not. I promise you, I'm not.

23:50James Harrison:Yeah. I said on my daddy, I'm not. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When he said that, I was like, oh, great. You really gave us this goddamn bitch. But, you know, we were up at the farm, so we just holed up for a few days. We were fine. We didn't, you know, we didn't get sick or nothing, so we were good. No, good, good, good. But I was hot at him. Because, you know, we were trying to do what everyone said, like, you know. The social distancing thing. Keep your distance. Yeah. People brought up the vid. No, no. We did distance. Well, we was close enough there, but we hugged. But it just, it didn't, yeah, it didn't.

24:25James Harrison:It didn't transfer. Dude, literally, I threw a fever for like six hours. That was it. It was weird, too, because it was right at the start of it, right? Like, we were like, oh, we didn't know what it really was. Like, so it was kind of like, see how this works out. And then you told me, like, yeah, I was kind of hot for, you know, six or seven hours. I drank a bunch of water. I was good. Yep. Good thing. Yeah, that was it. Listen, bro. That shit was so funny, bro. Like, not at that time. It wasn't funny. Yeah, no, for sure. Through the process, I'm like, listen, man. I'm kind of like, I hope you get it just to see it ain't really that bad.

25:04James Harrison:You know? Damn, Debo. I did you a favor, Keith. I did you a favor. I gave you, I gave you, I was trying to give you immunity. For sure. You must have, because I never got it. You gave me immunity, because I never got it, man. Not one time. So I should thank you for the immunity. That's what I'm saying. You brought out to the farm. Now that I'm thinking about it, dang. He came out there with an anti-buck. Hey, hey, hey, hey, best friend for life, baby. That's what I do, man. You know? That's what I do. A foot. But, hey, foot always trying to slide in there. Foot know he ain't that. That's what I'm trying to say.

25:43James Harrison:Brett, out of all the teammates that you play with, is Debo, would you say he's your closest friend? Besides Debo, who would you say you keep in touch with the most from the past teams? Yeah, you know, it's a tough question. I would say James and I are very close. You know, he's at the top of the list probably, you know. Heath Miller and I's locker room was right next to each other. throughout that whole time. I was very close with Ben. You know, Ben and I, we took our families fishing too. Same type of stuff that James is talking about. You know, it's hard to pick just one with our team because we were all so tight together.

26:26James Harrison:But see, my locker wasn't next to his. I didn't have to have my locker next to his. It was all the way across the room. Well, you had the Taj Mahal, man. Oh, yeah. How many deeper you had? You had a little other heat and all that too, didn't you? Well, yeah, that was maybe three. That's what I'm saying. You had the inside the locker. Yeah, he had the secret passage room. The getaway, the back. Yeah. You had all that. Listen, man, that wasn't there. That wasn't me. That was Troy. When I first got my locker, I was right between Jason Gilden and Flowers. Lee Gutter. They let me, you know, for training camp and whatnot, they let me have that spot.

27:08And when I made the team, I was so hyped. I'd come in there, you know, those guys were great to me. But I came in there and they were like, hey, you got to move out. I was like, where am I going to go? They're like, I don't care. You're just not going to be here. It's like, okay. You learn right away, like, all right, this is fancy real estate here, you know, when you get your spot, like you got to have it right and have the people around it. They're going to make you better. And veterans like to move. You know, we like to have our space. I had a couple of lockers. I know Debo had a couple of lockers.

27:45When they come down, they got to use those spots for because there's like 100 guys on the roster.

27:52James Harrison:Oh, yeah. They just put them in the middle. They roll in and put like two guys in your extra locker. You're like, you're renting, boy. You're renting right now. Mm-hmm. For sure. For sure. They started putting metal on it. Hey, Keys, our rookie year, 2002, when I came to the crib and dropped something off to you, tell the story about what Totten went crazy, dude. Eric Totten went crazy. Went crazy, bro. Yeah, so we did. I'm going to give you the first. So basically what ended up happening is I had to go and drop, I had to drop something off at Kiesel's because I couldn't have it in the state. You know what I'm saying?

28:36James Harrison:So and then I was dealing with a situation where I had to go and call the authorities to have them come in and correct it. So I had to I had to I had to relinquish my weapon to key. So I literally just run in. I say, Keys, here, take this. And I run back out. I don't explain nothing. Right. Yeah. So James comes to the door. he's got his dog tiger with him and he comes to the door which he did all the time like we were always going back and forth going places but this is like at 11 30 at night something like that you know later yeah and comes to the door doesn't say nothing i open the door he hands me these pistols hands me and leaves he's like i'll be right back and leaves and my roommate at the time was a guy by the name of Eric Totten and we both shared the place and he was tripping.

29:32He was like, he killed somebody. He's a murderer. Yeah, somebody's dead and now we're accomplices in this crime.

29:43James Harrison:I saw. Yeah, because we got the thing here. Like, we're going to go to jail, man. I'm like just calm down dude I bet we're good I'm sure he's gonna reach out to us soon yes don't worry hour or so goes by couple hours go by we don't hear from him don't hear from him all night next morning we're up going down to work out early in the morning and Eric's like have you heard from James what's going on I'm like man I haven't heard a thing I don't know walk into the weight room when we get to the facility Devo in there like pumping weights yeah just like doing some shrugs you know man we go over to him we're like what the hell was that last night man and he's like oh I sorry man I just had something going on in my house and I needed you to just like take care of that for me alright yeah I was like I was cool with it but man Todd thinks we're going to jail He was like, he think you killed somebody He think you murdered someone, Debo Hey, he got that scary look That's what I'm saying, he walks in there giving you, you don't know Don't say anything, just hold these Hold these Walks out Hey, hey, hey That's when I knew we were family Your prints are on him now He's playing with him and doing all this He's like, you're touching him, your prints are on him now See, that's what we are legit accomplices yeah wipe them off hey and he was started rubbing into his soul oh I played with Todd well he played in NFL Europe we ain't playing on the same team but we were in NFL Europe together oh no yeah yeah shout out to Eric Todd he was a good dude yeah shout out Eric Todd ET Toddie Todd for sure for sure what are you doing now bro I think he's talk to me wealth management and uh he's got a really good job i know he works for a really good firm down in texas i think he's got a couple little spuds running around too like we all do so he's doing real good and uh you know that was an awesome time like if if you could go back and see james and i back when we was like rookies and uh the shenanigans we were good did too and And the fun we had, you know, it was just so fun to be like, you're a stealer, man.

32:09You went from, you know, the college guy or whatever. Yeah. You're a pro.

32:14James Harrison:A professional stealer. Mm-hmm. In the greatest city ever. So it was super. And I'm grateful I had so many cool teammates that we merged well together. Yeah, definitely. Because when y 'all talk about the team, you talk about Ben, you talk about James, and Debo keeps having just like the players that you play with come on to the show. And it's so good to see like y 'all are legitimate family, y 'all are legitimate brothers. You love hanging out with each other. You can tell like hanging out with the farms. These are legitimate stories that y 'all crack up about and can be able to talk about with your friends, with your family.

32:51James Harrison:So like the bonds that you guys had, I love seeing it because, you know, playing with your teammates, they become family, especially when you get to play with them for more than a year. Then you got two years. Now people start having kids. Then people got to really start hanging out with each individual person. It takes time to be able to start building those relationships. So you can't be with somebody for two years. You be with them three, four, five. Well, you got to understand this too, though, Joe. You got to understand this. What we came into was guys that were already cultivating that. No, that thousand percent.

33:23James Harrison:It was, hey, come on, let's go. Like, oh, geez. Like he said, Jason Gilden and Peasy and then Clark Higgins and all that. He's like, yo, we here. Clark would pick me up like, yo, we here. Joey would be like, hey, we here. Get here. Yeah. Bruh, listen. I'm trying to tell you, bruh. I don't even know. We can't tell him. Listen, bruh. If they had cameras, social media was popping like it's popping now, bruh, we would be in trouble. I'm talking, listen, I don't know by 30 minutes in, shirt's off. Listen, Peezy will rip your shirt off. Back in the G, Peezy will rip your shirt off. As soon as I get in there, I'm late.

34:10James Harrison:Everybody else already where they need to be, right? Get your shirt off, dog. I'm like, man, I ain't ripping my shirt off. All y 'all in the spot. Girl, I ain't taking my shirt off. Fucking extremely swole. I ain't taking my shirt off. Button down shirt. I guess I'm taking it off. Give me six shots. I got to catch up where they at. Yes. Now y 'all all in there. Swole. Team. Bro. As one. Hey, great time, bro. Great time. Great time, bro. Like, no, no nothing. Keys, before we get up out of here, man, how you feel about the draft? You seen it? You watched who we got? I mean, I know you know Omar as I know Omar, and he is cooking.

34:49Yeah, I really like him. I really like him. I think there's a lot of potential there. A lot of those guys look like Steelers. I really like the seventh-round pick, you know, with seventh-round brotherhood, my man coming out of Navy, Miller, out of Mount Lebanon.

35:07James Harrison:Yep, yep. You know, Steelers, they really do try and build through the draft. And I think they got a lot of good young players with a lot of potential.

35:25I'm really excited about it.

35:28James Harrison:Yeah. Yep. What'd y 'all think? Matter of fact. Matter of fact. I was excited. Deebo was excited. Hey, Joe can't talk. But you know what? Yeah, I had to let him know. Joe was too busy on that bull spit of them Browns, man. I played with the Browns too. They did. The Browns went crazy in the draft. below the Steelers. The Grays done came back out. Somebody had a flip flam and just lost their mind. Steelers up here. Browns here. Hey, hey, hey. We got an A -. They got a B. We trying to figure out it's going to be the Steelers and the Browns here. He talking about the Browns. In the AFC. Yes. Oh, yeah.

36:09Okay. I know you got a back. Nothing wrong with that, man.

36:13James Harrison:I'm just, look, I'm trying to be honest about what I'm seeing. We got something brewing. We got a little something brewing. You got, listen, you got the seven-round draft choice. I'm looking at this free agent, 300-pound punt that we didn't pick up. Yeah, bro. This boy is 6 '6", 296. Yes. Okay? he had 25 points he only had sorry he only had 38 points in 2025 last year a long of 68 bro i looked it up i think the thing hit the ground i said it went like 70 ground until yeah down near 70 bro like it was six seconds in the air from state penn state bro yes six seconds in the air 297 pounds it was crazy here's the thing before that the year before i think he was doing just kickoffs he had 98 kickoffs and you know college ain't doing the kickoffs like we doing 61 touchbacks year before that he was doing kickoffs 76 kickoffs uh 50 touchbacks like this dude got a leg he just changed the punter now look here keys what's his name again gabe yes uh new also yes gabe new also So look here, man.

37:32James Harrison:I know somebody that can work with you and get you more consistent. Your problem is consistency right now on that point. Matter of fact, hit me on my DM, man. Just DM me. DM me. 40:51James Harrison:and be an undrafted free agent to actually starting punter for the Pittsburgh Steelers, man. I like it. I like to be signed him. And Brett can coach you to be D-line. You can do it. Yeah, you got to be able to... The more you can do. The more you can do, the more places they got a roster for you. If you can't do much, they don't got much for you. Like, man, if you're just snapping, and you better cover. Yes. You got to have a lot to your repertoire to make it consistently on an NFL locker. No question. And, you know, those big boys, seeing them see if he can change the game, man, for kickers and punters.

41:37Man, heavy body, heavy leg. Let's go. You got a real idea. No power. Listen, he punted, what was it, 35 times, okay?

41:47James Harrison:38. 38 times. he had 15 of them inside the 20. How come nobody drafted him? I don't know. Oh, he just started this year. He just started this year? He just started punting this year. Before that, he just did kickoffs. You know the Steelers. We like the big punters. We had our good man Percy. We drafted him. Bruh. I'm trying to – Now, he's way bigger than Percy. Gay, listen. Hit your boy up. DM me. Hit me up. I got somebody that could work with you. Go ahead and get you there now. Debo, can you still do your snap? You can maybe snap it to him. You got jokes, huh? Dude, Debo used to... He was catching a 6 '6"?

42:31James Harrison:You was long snapping? Yeah, you might have caught that snap. Hell yeah! Debo was snapping the ball 7 ,000 feet in the air? Man, listen, bro. No, it was 7 ,000 feet in the air, man. We had Chris Gardarki's pulled hamstring ass back there. Uh-huh, so you need to be athletic to catch your... You need to be athletic to catch yours. You're not putting them right way in the history. Listen, Joe, it was my first time ever snapping in history, bro. And then Patsy go talk about, man, I could have went and did it. I snapped in the game. Well, mother, why didn't you say that before I stepped out there, dog?

43:00James Harrison:They're like, who going to do it? I'm like, to hell with it. I do it. Yeah. I'm like, I'll do it. Patsy talking about, yeah, I just snapped. Where was you at when they was calling for a ball? When they was calling for me to go out there. Yeah, man. You stepped up for the 10. Thank you, bro. Appreciate you. Appreciate you. You always did whatever it took, you know, including slamming fans or whatever, like whatever. Anything. Whatever we need. Hey man, I was protecting, I was protecting. You wanted to be on the field. You know? Any means necessary. More you can do. We gonna go over here, we gonna hit these super chats when we get out of here, Kev.

43:34James Harrison:Okay, okay. Covenant Life,$2. Covenant Life is our biggest supporter. Yes, she is. Of people with Joe. Why? Ain't nobody better. Ain't nobody that do it harder. Ain't nobody that go harder. she said A-Rod and the arthritis protocol what's that? see Covetage is she be tripping sometimes she do like her name her name you know it's supposed to be more you know more loving than than what she put out there sometimes you know what I'm saying you know but you know I mean maybe she hitting the wine you know who knows she do you know she retired she have a good time you know what I'm saying that's all coming to life back again $10 She said, honestly, with the speed on the other teams, and if our O-line can't protect A-A-Ron, then my Iron Will would need to be our guy.

44:26James Harrison:That guy will hit back. Iron Will can scramble them eggs. She's talking about Will. Will Allen. No, no, no. Iron Will. Will Howard. Will Howard. Yeah. That's the nickname, Iron Will? She called him Iron Will. She used to call him Country Club Will, but I didn't like that. Yeah, we changed the name. I like Iron Will. Yeah, Iron, yeah. She's ready to move on now. She's ready to give the name to the young buck. Yeah, she's ready to go and hand it over. What you think? Hand it over? I'm not. I mean, I think they're going to do it. They're going to get us to see what they like in preseason. I mean, that's what preseason's for.

45:10Now they play, you know, so many games and whatnot. And I feel like there ain't no hidden in training camp anymore. And, you know, it's way different than our first camps. So you got to hope that you can see enough of what you're going to get. Yeah. And who knows if Aaron will even be in there for training camp. They might just keep him on a string until the season gets going. And, you know, things ebb and flow, injuries happen, whatever. You need multiple quarterbacks. Like there was a season we went through like four. I mean, we had Dennis Dixon. We had Charlie Batch. We had Byron Leftwood. All of them played throughout the course of that season.

45:51So the more good quarterbacks you can have on your roster, the better off chances you have of making it far in the playoffs. I think. Yeah.

46:01James Harrison:Yep. We're going to go to Max Bruce,$25. Appreciate you. He said, two of my all-time favorite Steelers on the same show is awesome. Sorry, Joe. It ain't you.

46:17James Harrison:Man, I honestly think I caught that, you know? Yeah, caught a stray there, Joe. Yeah, I caught a mean stray. No, it ain't no stray. They shooting. They remember what you were talking about yesterday. Brother, that was because of you. It has nothing to do with Brett. Me and Brett, we here. I ain't put a gun to your head. Yeah, man. Man, no, Debo, you said yesterday's episode. It was me versus you. You know what? I shouldn't be holding that right now. You're right. Don't hold that against me, my brother. My bad, my bad. Covenant Life, she back again. I'm trying to tell you. Covenant Life, be on it.

46:48James Harrison:$50, Joe. Good old Covenant. Brett, do you remember the moment you realized, yeah, I was built to be a Pittsburgh Steeler? And what's a Steeler moment that gives you chills? the kind that instantly takes you back to being in black and gold with your brothers? Great question. Great question. Coveted? I think right away when I saw the culture, my first trip to Latrobe, I thought I was built to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. Our weight room was on the 10th. It was rough back then, like six weeks of pads, two days. Dude, I tried to tell Joe we was in there for 37 days, bro. It was a gauntlet. And just to get through that, you know, was a source of pride for me.

47:35And then to make the team and whatnot, I felt like, yeah, I'm built for this. I have a couple of plays that still give me chills when I watch them. You know, the one is recovering the fumble in Super Bowl XLIII. You know, I'll never forget that moment when it just, like, fell right into my lap. I knew the game was over. We just won our second Super Bowl. Oh, man, we was going down in history again. So I'll never forget that. You know, James jumped on me. I was on the ground just laying there. I remember James jumping on me. And Eric remembers, you know, his historic run in that game. I'll never forget that moment, being able to run up in front of him and telling him, come on, Debo, let's go.

48:26Yeah, it was – that game was amazing. So anytime I watch things from that game, it still gives me chills. For sure, for sure.

48:35James Harrison:Hey, matter of fact, maybe it's the time that y 'all went and slammed Vince Young and I got fined. Oh, man. Dump my man smooth on his head. You were involved. Tell the story. Tell the truth. Yeah, that's true. That's a true story, Aaron, and I pretty much slammed him. You just – the reason they find you, James, is because you was already on the list. He was already on the naughty list. You've been on the naughty list. Aaron and I, we're nice guys. Like, we would do anything to me like that. We would just accomplish this to you. I remember the play. Bro, I was just trying to pull his legs out. So I was trying to lift his legs and pull them out.

49:15James Harrison:As I do that, they topple him so it looks like I don't care. It looks like you're scooping. It looks like you're scooping. They don't find them. They find me. You find. There's three dudes on him. I'm the only one they find. Yep. I think I took you out for a milkshake or something. You know I ran into Roger Goodell. Took him out for McFlurry. I saw you just met with the commissioner. Are you guys best friends now? How that go, man? Like I said, man, I done accepted my Lord and Savior. If that was, you know, three, four years, maybe five, six years ago, it might have been a little different. I might have been doing it from behind a glass, you know.

49:57See, that's what everybody don't know, how you're such a good guy. Everyone thinks you're all scary in this creature, you know, this Debo guy. But you're a really good guy, James.

50:06James Harrison:Yes. I am a good dude, man. We got Covenant Life back again,$20. Okay. He said, Brett, do me a favor. I need you to put Debo in the headlock because he yelled at me. I believe you can take him. Joe. Yes. You see basketball team's logo. You see basketball team's logo do instantly. What? when you see a basketball team's logo, do you instantly think of one player? Bull Jordan, Nix Ewing, et cetera. What player, I'm assuming, like when you look at a logo, she's trying to say, when you look at a logo, what player do you think of instantly when you see that logo? All right. Brett, if you see the Cavs, who do you think of?

50:48James Harrison:LeBron. LeBron James. Bulls? Michael Jordan. Jordan. Knicks. Nets. Knicks. Ewing. Ewing. Okay. I'm going to say when I think of it, I go Charles Freewell. Okay. And then we got Portland Trailblazers. Clyde the Glide, baby. Clyde the Glide. Okay. Okay. Okay. I could go with that. I could go with all those. Covenant Light back again. $5. Joe. Yes. Can you send me one of your Browns jerseys. Oh, she gonna say something smart after that. She said my corn in my garden has started to come up. You need a scarecrow? I already knew it was coming. I knew she gonna say something. She needs some fertilizer?

51:39James Harrison:She needs some fertilizer. She got fun of a scarecrow, Debo. You know, in your garden, you need a scarecrow to scare the birds. No, she said all she needed is some fertilizer. She needed that doo-doo. She going doo-doo brown. Brett, disrespect is real on the show. Come to life back again. Ten dollars. She said, Brett, over all those bone rattling hits, who do you remember laying the absolute hardest hit on a tackle, the one you still feel after the game? And have you checked on them?

52:24I don't really remember all my hits, honestly. I don't know if that's because I got hit. Yeah, you guys were willing to put yourself to sleep. You know, there's a couple good sacks that I liked, you know, that weren't really hard hits. But it was nice to sack Brady in Pittsburgh, strip sack him and win that game in Pittsburgh. it was nice to get my interception against Fitzpatrick you know we had some beard beat

52:52James Harrison:you know you think your beard better than mine no it ain't no he he was nice he said mine was better which is true yeah well he knew but uh you know I think I hit Joe Flacco once pretty good in Pittsburgh, kind of in the side that was a good hit. But running down on special teams, that was probably the best hit because it was full speed. I never really got to get out into open space and smack somebody. You know, you're usually battling against a 400-pound dude in front of you, so you don't have a lot of leeway to smoke somebody. But, you know, running down on special teams, when we were a unit on special teams, we were putting that brow on people, if you know what I mean.

53:40James Harrison:No question. No question. No question. Matter of fact, I fired off on Fitzgerald. Fitzpatrick, sorry. Fitzpatrick. Yeah, I fired off on him. Actually, he got a video where he says he still feels it in his chest when he play golf. He do this golf swing. I can still feel it in my chest. Yeah, it's external. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I fired off on Too Sweet. I had to do what I had to do, but that's what happens, man. Mike, Mike,$5 said, what up, Debo and Joe and Brett? Y 'all should do Debo and Joe outside episode and fight a bear. Kick rocks. Mike, we ain't fighting no bear. My Wi-Fi going out. Your Wi-Fi going out.

54:29James Harrison:Oh, man. Did I just lose you? I can hear you. We can hear you. Can you hear us? I'm sending Mike to the bear himself. Uh-oh. I think we lost keys. We lost keys. Got to be more careful. Yep. We done lost keys with y 'all. Look here, guys. I'm back. Oh, there he is. There we go. There we go. I'm back. There he is. Must be a bat flying around my antenna. Jumping all over your antenna. Jumping around your antenna. My hell. I was going to say ass but I still did y 'all have TVs with antennas man for real no I did back in the day Miles had antennas or a satellite dish yeah I had we couldn't afford a satellite we just had the antenna you know I had to sit there and hold it and sometimes I had to hold it because that's how it worked did you smack the side of the TV no bro I literally had to sit there and hold it when my dad watched TV sometimes like hey let go hey keep your hands on that I'll be like alright dang with the tinfoil tinfoil yeah aluminum foil all that all that hey wrap it with some aluminum foil to do the same thing all right oh show all right there we go there we go oh funny man man uh what's your uh you said uh what's your thing again you got oak um mighty oak adventures mighty oak adventures y 'all y 'all check out y 'all check out mighty oak adventures y 'all We're going to end up getting up out of here, but we want to thank you, man, for coming on the show.

56:02James Harrison:Really appreciate you, man. Love you. Love you, too. Looking forward to seeing you later. No, I appreciate you, Brett. Get Joe out there and let him see how it goes down. But, guys, we want to thank you for joining us on this episode of D-Boy and Joe. Please make sure you like, subscribe, and download where you get your show. Joe. Same. We will see you guys on Friday. Thank you for joining us, Brett. I really appreciate you, my brother, for coming on the show. Let's get it. Here we are. It was a pleasure, y 'all.
