In short

Ike Taylor (former Steelers cornerback) and “Deebo” (Joe Haden) discuss Deebo’s biggest hits and their shared Steelers-era defensive culture under DC Dick LeBeau, including special teams accountability, trash talk psychology, and cornerback/coverage philosophy.

Guest backgrounds

Ike Taylor played cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers (12 seasons) and later became a defensive-minded voice in sports media. Deebo (Joe Haden) is a long-tenured NFL corner known for press coverage and high-level pass breakups; the conversation references his pre-CBA era contract and playoff production.

Key claims

LeBeau’s coaching emphasized “you can’t cover everything,” making tackles and exploiting weaknesses; he adjusted schemes with a “long leash” until basics were required. Special teams success came from relentless film review and accountability. Trash talk was framed as psychological research to disrupt opponents.

Notable examples

Ike’s kickoff-return “mind said let the ball go” moment; Troy Polamalu’s “12 and done” explosion; Steelers’ “everybody to the ball” effort on defense; and the “no loafing” principle (“get to the party”).

2:03When a group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist, they take matters into their own hands. I vowed I will be his last target. He is not going to get away with this. He's going to get what he deserves. We always say that. Trust your girlfriends. Listen to The Girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

2:35What's up, everyone? I'm Ako Wodum. My next guest, it's Will Ferrell. My dad gave me the best advice ever. He goes, just give it a shot. But if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Listen to Thanks Dad on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

3:15Between Sean Murray and Chidi Uwama, they already had a position. So really it was 51 people on the roster because they were automatically on there. So we used to come to the sideline and heck with a defensive play. Like you can play 60 snaps on defense. You can only play 10 to 12 snaps on special teams. Yes. But you knew Monday morning Coach Cowell had that clicker. Had that clicker. Like he had that clicker on Monday morning in front of everybody. And he's going to critique your hustle. Mm-hmm. Yes.

3:47James Harrison:Are you accelerating or decelerating? I'm talking back and forth 10 times, bro. Yeah, he'll run it, he'll run it, he'll run it back, he'll hit the rewind button, he'll hit the rewind button. So your boy, your teammate's just looking at you like, oh, so you really don't want that smoke. Yeah. So that's the type of time Coach Kyle was on, and we used to ask ourselves on the sidelines, and you're like, hey, bro, did you get that block? Yeah. Yeah, I got that block because you know Monday morning ain't going to be there. Or you already knew if you didn't get that block. You already knew you missed it, though.

4:26Yeah. How bad if you didn't get that block and didn't get that tackle? Hell yeah.

4:31James Harrison:Hell yeah, he saw. He going to rewind it? No. Coach Kyle won't play no games on his special team. But I will say, though, our special teams were so good. Coach Kyle gave us a couple of games out the tunnel for the introduction. That's how good our special teams was. Come on, man. That's accountability. It was like, we're introducing the special 10s. I'm like, oh, shit, nigga. I don't even know what to do. Do I take my helmet off or put it on? Hey, listen, then it got to a point when we was on the playoff runs and trying to win Super Bowls, like, we used to tell the younger guys, like, all the vets don't kick off.

5:09Like, hey, hey, like, if it was, like, five or six rookies or guys in their prime, and we year eight or nine, hey, bro, playoffs is a whole different type of temperature, man. All the vets who can be on this kickoff, we're going on kickoffs. And that's what we did because, you know, football in the playoffs, man, it's not like basketball or NHL. There ain't no series, man. It's one time. You only got one time to do it. So we wanted to value that one time. So that's what it was when Coach Cowell, when it came down to that special teams. You'd rather get yelled at because Coach Dickey really didn't yell at you.

5:45You really.

5:46James Harrison:You just felt horrible when you messed up with Coach LeBow, bro. Oh, Lord. Like you messed up for your dad. You just, you feel bad. You feel bad. Listen. Hold up, hold up. You don't want him to be disappointed in you. Hey, Joe, hold up, Joe. Yo, let me tell you this, Joe.

6:05James Harrison:Reporter called they self telling somebody that Dick LeBow's defense didn't work. and he tried to tell this reporter it ain't Dick LeBow's defense we fucked it up so hey somebody go over there and get Ike before he whoop on this reporter talking about Dick LeBow's defense don't work hey man listen all us had goals Joe you had a goal which you wanted to be obviously you had a fucking fantastic career Debo, you wind up being a fucking defensive league MVP. I wind up doing 12, doing what I need to do. But everybody had individual goals, right? But I guarantee you, Debo, correct me if I'm wrong. Like, one of our goals was to not let Dick LeBow down.

6:57100%. That was one of our goals. Like, you love Dickie so much because, one, he played. One, he cared. And he ain't never had to yell. Like just telling him, just him telling you coming off that sideline, if you had a few bad plays, like you're not helping our defense right now, that hurt it worse than somebody yelling at you. Thousand percent. From a DB standpoint, and it's hard to find DB defensive coordinators in the NFL, period. But from a defense perspective, like Coach LeBow just got every position. You know what I'm saying? But he's just, I only say only a few of them people walk around on earth.

7:38And what I mean by that, only a few good humans, good soul people walk around. And I was fortunate enough to be around him for my tender playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. So you just did not want to let that dude down at all. Yeah.

7:54James Harrison:I say that because when you play a cornerback and you know how hard it is to be on the island. And for somebody to understand, look, I'm going to give you this. You can cover this. You know what I'm saying? If this happens, you make a tackle, get them on the floor, lead to fight another down. We can't cover everything. You know what I'm saying? Having a coach like that that's been in that position, that's so real. And when you speak to everybody else like you, Debo, you got all the dudes, everybody got individual goals, but that's your 111th. When the ball come your way, when you're supposed to make your play, we're going to make that play.

8:25James Harrison:You know what I'm saying? So I respect that, man. And I love that. That Dick LeBeau part of, you know what I'm saying? That's real talk. And that's something else. Like Coach LeBeau would let us adjust things. I'll say that. Yeah, adjust things. Listen, Ike would be like, yeah, he have a Sox backer call. So that means I got to take the tight end. He get the blitz. He'd be like, D-Bow, just go. I take the tight end. I said, shit, you ain't got to tell me twice. Yes. Yeah, what type of time. But that's what Dickie allowed you to do. Now, if you kept messing up too many times, we had to go back to the basics.

9:06To the basics, yes. You know what I'm saying? But Dickie understood, and he taught us all the weaknesses to every defense. Dickie never proclaimed that we can stop everything. Everything, yes. From cover four to five zones, to cover three, to man, to cat blitz, to whatever you, to five zones, to whatever defense. He taught us the weakness to the defense. So now that made you think like an offensive player. So we already knew with offense, depending on the look, kind of where they wanted to go. Yes. So that's what I respected well about Dickey. But he gave us a long leash until it was time for him to pull us back.

9:41And for us to have that long leash as a player, you want to keep that leash. You want to keep that leash. Yeah, so keeping at least your football IQ had to enlighten. You know what I'm saying?

9:52James Harrison:So that's what it was with Dickie. And it's the buy-in. It's the buy-in. The big thing is the buy-in. You come in there, and you already got players that's bought into this. And now you get to sit there, and you get to watch this man, learn from this man. And now you get to build a relationship with him. And you're like, you know what? It works. And the big thing is, it actually works. when you do what is supposed to be done. It can't be beat. They may get a little 10, 12, like he said, tackle the man, get him on the ground. And that's only if they smart enough to hit it where the weakness is.

10:29James Harrison:Yeah. Dude, it's no way, bro. The biggest thing he said is you can't cover everything. If you try to cover everything, you're covering nothing. So anytime when we got this thing set up and we know this is not going to happen, if they run this, we're going to catch and tackle. We get to the next play. Coach not running out there tripping on y 'all. We like this. We on the same page, coach. So if they do run what we're expecting, we're going to make it happen. And then when we don't, that's on us. You know what I'm saying? We prepared. We got this part down. You know what I'm saying? There's no way we can cover everything.

11:01James Harrison:Defense Coach LeBeau has that's go get struck or hit for more than 12 or 15 yards. Yeah. As long as you make the tackle. Yes. Period. As long as you're playing that defense how it's supposed to be played, that's the most they should ever get out of that unless it's a mixed tackle or you're not playing it the way it's supposed to be played bro like hey i listen tell joe listen i've been trying to tell joe like he ain't get a chance to play out there on the on the corner like when i'm coming out there they do that now they do that now i tell you to hold that receiver up i said i ain't holding him up see he tripping hey joe you out there holding him up hey joe like i didn't call so much friendly fire from Debo.

11:41Right?

11:42James Harrison:I'm going to put you to sleep one time though. And I woke you up. Yeah, nah. When you hit me, I went to sleep and woke up at the same time. But now, like on them now passes, on them five yard hitches. Yes. Joe, Debo eyes get wide as a motherfucker. Literally. Yeah, Debo eyes get wide. And he'd be like, hold him up. And I'm trying to hold him. But for some reason, as soon as Debo get close, they'll drop dead weight on me. Yes. And I kissed the wrong end of the stick. Hey, how many times you caught him, though? You caught me a few times. Oh, no, no, no, no. You caught them plenty of times. But he caught me like once or twice.

12:25Lord have mercy. Hey, listen. But that's what it was. And we used to always say on our side of the defense, like, y 'all not running the ball on here. run that thing somewhere else. Hey, bro.

12:37James Harrison:We haven't had me into so much. Trash talk is out of control. I don't even know what's going on until they like, I hear, you ain't going to say that shit to 9-2? I'm like, you already know what type of type of thing. Ben and Messi? Ben and Messi? That's all it was, Joe. You had real hitters on your team. I'm saying the same thing. Real live hitters. And you out there like, you got 10 of them ready for whatever. I'm out there talking crazy too if I'm you. You got every right. And you pressing. And you tall. And you ready to hit something too. No, bro. He talking to catch. He ain't even go see. He talking to the tackle.

13:17James Harrison:Yep. Well, I'm talking to you. Because he came out on him on a screen or something. You pulling over here and messing around with him. Debo, get this big nigga. Please. Hey, bro. I be trying to put him to sleep too on the next screen. They started killing me. 1 ,000%. Hey, Joe, my trash talk was so spectacular, right? It came to a point where Troy and RC was like, bro, what you just said, I felt disrespectful and it wasn't even towards me. But for me, Joe, you know, once you're at that level, everything is mental. Yes. So I'm saying, how can I get in so-and-so head to slow him down? No, for sure.

14:03Or to have him not even think about the football game. Joe, he doing research, Joe. I'm doing research, Joe. You doing real research? Joe, I'm doing real research, Joe. I'm doing research. Talking about the man. Talking about the man.

14:18James Harrison:Girlfriend, wife, whatever information he can get, bro. Whoever it was, it was going to be spoken. Okay, man, you was really doing it. You were really doing it. Joe, I was talking so much cash money on that field. Oh, on that field. I was on that type of time, too. So I wasn't even tripping. But for me, it was psychologically. No, 1 ,000%. Look, you got real hitters out there with you. Y 'all are the best defense. Y 'all on the cover of everywhere. Now, you know what I'm saying? You putting your money where your mouth is. So now you can talk. You can talk. Y 'all doing it. Hey, listen. Hey, listen.

14:55I tell people this all the time A producer Couldn't produce at that time Let's say from 2005 To like 2012 A movie producer Couldn't produce What we was doing Or

15:16Couldn't even imagine When I say we were some Some fucking dogs I'm going to ask you this

15:22James Harrison:How about, how was Troy's personality with how the way y 'all was rocking? Because I know Troy more of a, was he more, did he talk at all on the field? Nah, Troy, TP, baby Jesus. Baby Jesus was like, baby Jesus. Yeah, baby Jesus. It's just like it was. He just doing work. But he woke up on the field, though. So baby Jesus, he was cool throughout practice. He'll smile, he'll laugh. He joked like, TP is a jokester. He just joked. Truly just like, no, everybody ain't going to catch that side of him. And the only people who really caught that side is dudes in the locker room. Oh, for sure. So, TP on the field, that demon, I think I heard Troy curse one time.

16:11San Diego. San Diego. Oh, Lord.

16:15James Harrison:Y 'all know the same game. So, it was one time. Hey, listen, he blew up like a volcano. Yeah, he was on that. You know what? See, you know when you that good, one time you blow up. Bro. Everybody going to remember. He was on that type of time. You know how you can hear Troy's voice, that high pitch. What happened? Who is it? Where he at? I don't know. Something happened. I don't know during the play what happened. All I know, it was 12 and done. because at the time, Keenan was, I think that was his 12th year, he was like, 12 and done, B. 12 and done, B. And he's saying it like his voice is so low, but he has a certain kind of sound.

17:02It's a pitch. You can't miss it. I don't know if he was 100 yards away from, you know, that truck. So when he was saying that, we was looking around like, what the fuck is he talking to? No question. And then when we saw who he was talking to, it's just like everybody was on that type of time we said F football we said F football hell when you talking to baby when baby Jesus explodes like that and now he get on the demon time it's over it's over

17:34James Harrison:and that's what happened I love it, that's our saying y 'all gotta protect 4-3 at all times no bruh, it wasn't about protect not even protect but he's mad Now we got to go out. You were telling this boy 12 and done. This your last game. I'm getting you up out of here. I'm getting you up out of here. I'm getting your ass up out of here. He said, oh, we getting everybody out of here. We getting everybody now. We was on that type of time. Everybody got to go. Okay. Oh, bro. Hey, what was your welcome to the NFL moment, bro? Special teams. Special teams. I was a kickoff returner. and we played the St.

18:16Louis Rams at the time, Joe. And I remember Chris O. He was like, look, I think that DN, his last name was Little. He said, look, they got me blocking Little, but I don't think I can block him. He said, if he come my way. Now, this is during the week, Joe. He said, if he come my way, do not come my way or something bad going to happen. He said, the dude don't kick off, what, six-fold, about 270, right? And I catch the ball. I catch the ball on kickoff. Not that I caught many, but anyway, I caught the ball on kickoff and I ran. 2%. 23:55James Harrison:They scream, get down, get down. Those are shots. Those are shots. Get down. A charismatic politician. You know, he just bent the rules all the time, man. I still have a weapon. And I could shoot you. And an outsider with a secret. He alleged he was a victim of blackmail. That may or may not have been political. That may have been about sex. Listen to Rorschach, Murder at City Hall, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

24:27And before you know it, I get to like the 20, 23 yard line. Yes. And he hit me. And when he hit me, my mind said, let the ball go. And check the rest of your body. I'm running, Joe. I'm running, Joe. And when he hit me, mind, let the ball go. I let the ball go. If this is what you were looking for, you can have it. I don't even want it. I don't even want it. Man, that was my walking to the NFL moment, bro.

25:04James Harrison:My man said, mind said, let the ball go. If you want it, you can have it. Hey, bro, if this is what it's going to take, you can let the ball go. I can't get it. Gosh. Oh, my God. I know exactly what you're saying. Right. Because I played Distillers my rookie season. Right. And Josh Cribs, D-Bow done, sat my man Cribs down. And I go back because I'm the backup kickoff fraternity. Oh, you was there for that double. It's the real game. I look. It bounces. I get it. I see a little hole. Next thing I know, whomp, I see somebody come from the corner of my eye, hit me in the side of my head, spun me like a helicopter.

25:47James Harrison:But I didn't let go of the ball. I was like, as long as just, I closed my eyes and I'm spinning. Like 360, hit the ground, boom, pop up, everybody looking. I brought the ball all the way back to the sideline. And that was my only kickoff return, Ike. Hey, I'm not rocking better than me. Guess who caused somebody to go night-night that game? Because they was talking crazy to somebody. Who? Ike was talking crazy to somebody. Who was he talking crazy to, Ike? They just tried to bring you over to play before, a couple plays before. They want Dennis Northcourt. But me and Dennis Norko had like love.

26:19We had an issue with each other.

26:24What was the running back's name?

26:26James Harrison:I forgot his name, dude. Not green, huh? No, no, no, no. This back in the day? Or this when I was there? It was when you was there. You was there. It was Montario Hardesty, Peyton Hillis. It was Hillis. Yeah, Peyton. No, no, no, no. I did. I can't get a lot of Peyton. Peyton did his thing. I can't even lie. That little rhino. That little rhino, man. Come on, he's a cover man. I said, oh yeah. He said, hey man, do that nine too. I said, all right, I got to go sleep somebody. I slept Cribs and Masquat. Yeah, nah, you slept two people in the same game. Yeah, it was right there. And that's what put me at kickoff for Turner.

27:09Tried to get me slept. Nah, for real. But, no, Joe, that was the type of time we was on, man. We was catching bodies on the field. Listen, Miami.

27:24James Harrison:Listen, Miami. Ike puts the quarterback to sleep sleep. Come on, bro. Hold up. Hold up. Jacked up time. Listen, PZ is over there at the time. PZ is over there at the time, right? Right. So, after he put in the sleep sleep, right? we're getting fine. Hella crazy at that point. Hella crazy. So we all dropped to the knee, hit the prey over there. PZ go come over there talking about, oh, okay, so that's what y 'all doing. Y 'all knocking niggas out. Then y 'all dropping down on the knees and playing for them. Get out of here with that. Nah, for real. You know who started that? You know who started that?

28:04Hemp. Hemp. Hemp told me, Hemp would just walk by you with a lot of pettiness and the calm manner and keep walking. So, Hell was like, dang, everybody catch a body. You ain't even got a body. You're not even a good tackling corner. Dang. I said, I, oh, caught, caught, caught me a body and I went over to Hell. Hell was like, you on that bull, you on that bull shit today. I was like, man, you shouldn't have woke me up, but nah. That's the type of time it was on, man, for real. But that's how you establish dominance. it was it was 11 and Dick LeBow used to harp on this he used to harp on this 11 to the ball like he used to harp 11 to the ball so when one was coming everybody was coming so there won't no such thing as Lowe's if you if you didn't get in the frame it was a problem they'd rather you have an MA than Lowe's Did not get to the ball.

29:11Yeah, because, you know, loafing, that's a want to. Yeah, no, no, no. That's an effort.

29:15James Harrison:It's an effort thing. Yeah, yeah. You got to want to be over there with your homeboys and get to the party. We used to say, get to the party, man. Let's throw a party on the running back or quarterback or receiver. Let's just throw a party on it. And the party was everybody. Everybody to the ball. They're like, get their hat on. They were like, did you get you some? Bro, the time we played San Diego, bro, we'd be like, hey, man, the scratch, we're in the powder blue today. We go get some powder blue over there, man. What we got over there today? On the helmet? Let's get some of this powder blue on the helmet.

29:47Hey, what would be, so we're going into the draft week.

29:50James Harrison:What would be your best advice that you would give to a rookie that's coming into the league? Same thing I tell them, them freshmen and sophomores. Man, make that weight room your best friend. Make that playbook your best friend. understand understand now this is really a business like so and throw them stars away um all americans away yeah whatever you're here for a reason now but understand you know and that's i i understood the business side of it joe so i understood the next year they're gonna probably wind up driving the corner and the following year they're gonna try to wind up driving the corner like that's just a part of the business you know what i'm saying so yeah that's what i would tell of these kids now in the way from that playbook and stay your ass out of trouble right so now you got a lot more free time but at the same time um that name on the back of your jersey it's a representation not only for your family but the team as well so how you want to represent your family and that team as well and then you break it down to you know between seven and 80 thousand college players um only like 300 or something get invited to the combine but only 200 in between 265 271 get drafted for that draft man you're the cream of the crop right yeah we're gonna break it down to position wise if you were center you might have five centers that get drafted obviously between corners and receivers that might be the most out of every position that get drafted because there is a need for that you know what i'm saying so let's just say you might have 10 to 12 guards get drafted the highest might be 18 so for you to get drafted and for them to call your name out um you got to understand how valuable you are but once you get into the league now it's instead of 12 games from college football heck you got two you got three pre-season games and we ain't even going to talk about training camp so you probably got two and a half weeks and training camp, them like two games.

31:57Then you got preseason games. So that's five. Then after that, you got your 17 regular season. So that's up to 20-something. Then if you're that type of team, now y 'all layoffs. You're talking about two years and one year. So you go from 12 games to down there 24, 25 games, depending on how deep that run is for your team. So you got to take care of your body and stay your ass out of trouble too. But that weight room and that playbook should be your best friend. Yeah. For sure.

32:32James Harrison:Favorite Dickie LeBow memory, man? The Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame. Dickie got inducted to the Hall of Fame, and he mentioned my name, so I feel like I'm in the Hall of Fame. Okay. Respect. No, that's – he could have mentioned thousands of players that he coached, But the fact that I was on his mind at that time, that meant a lot. That meant a lot to me. And I didn't even catch it at the time. Somehow they just wound up sending it to me. And I was like, damn. So it hit me a little bit different. But that was like my most memorable moment, you know, for the NFL for me. But, heck, I'm talking to two Hall of Famers right now.

33:11Joe, you're going to wind up going D-Bo. You're going to wind up going nah. No, that boy D-Bo. Yeah, yeah. Joe, people don't understand. like Joe, hey, Debo, hit that screen on Debo right quick. Let me talk about Joe right quick. Hey, Debo, Joe, Joe's one of the highest gross paid corners. He got that old money. He got that old money. At that position of the NFL. Thank you. This dude, Joe, is eating. Joe, you came out at the time where they didn't do the new rookie. No. That's what I'm saying. He got that old money. 2010 with the pre-CBA. Listen, Joe came off 50, 55. He came straight from cop.

33:56Then on top of that, he just kept eating. But I tell you what, Joe, you were super savvy coming from Florida. Man, thank you. You had a savvy game, like a real savvy game. You knew when to bite, when not to bite, when to come up, when to chill. Your game was super savvy. I watched you. I mean, of course, I watched you because you was in the division, but your game was savvy, man. You had a savvy game, bro. I appreciate your game. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate that, bro,

34:25James Harrison:because I was watching you too. And the thing was that we would do, bro, you played press, man. You was one of the corners how we was trying to follow the best receivers. And there was me, there was you doing it, Pat P was doing it, Sherman was trying to do it, obviously Revis. So there was corners in our time when you could really, we was like, man, if you want to be that one, I want to follow the best receiver that they got. and we were looking at it. Hey, Coach LeBeau just said that when he was on here with us. He was like, yeah. And when Coach LeBeau, like you said, I don't get the credit.

34:51James Harrison:He said that, bro. We talked about the best corners that he had. He was like, no, I don't get the credit he deserved. And that's the same thing, bro. They don't understand how following the best receiver on the opposite. It's hard. And when you're playing man, you're not going to get as many picks because you're looking at your man. You're trying to make people catch the ball. He would have got a lot more, but anyway. No, respect. Same, same, but the PBUs, the pass breakups, What's your 151 pass breakups? You breaking shit up. Our job is to make sure this number one receiver don't catch the rock.

35:22James Harrison:So me watching you, you not being afraid. You playing press. You being 6 '1", 6 '2", and running forward. Your speed was crazy. 75 of those was pickable. 75 of those was pickable, Joe. Nah, see, there we go. Nah, nah, nah, nah. I mean, obviously I had 14 picks. I had some kind of hand. I was catching my picks during the playoffs. So I ain't even tripping. They don't even see that part. They don't even put the playoff picks in there. I ain't even tripping on that. Now, on the flip side, my son is at Alabama, so he took my hands. That's where the hands are? Yeah, the hands went his way. The hands ain't cut my way.

36:03Okay. What position? It skipped the generation. I got you. Yeah, it skipped the Jenny. Okay. Yeah, it went to him. So I'd rather him have it than me. But nah, D-Boy, you can say what you want to say. It come to the playoffs. I was catching, I was plucking the fans. You were plucking the fans, see? Hey, hey, bro.

36:19James Harrison:I would see a pick coming to Ike, bro. And just like he did his hands, that's how Ike would go to catch the ball. I'd be like, Lord Jesus. Give me that. He'll catch it. I mean, look. Bro, he caught punch like that, bro. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Bro, he would catch the ball. I saw when Ike was talking about catching the kickoff. He threw his hands up like this. I said, oh, yeah, he catching them Jones. He did. Straight up. They look alien different for real. But nah, man, that's just what it was. We played a lot. You know, me, you. I was watching Champ and Prime. I was watching them boys. I was watching Champ.

36:56Champ Bailey, shout out to Champ Bailey too. Yes. Uncle Prime, shout out to Uncle Prime too. That was a percent. But in our era, it was me, you, Revis, Sharon was doing this. We had some lockdown corners, but nah, it's just you wanted to play. Against the team's best. I felt some kind of way of dick it in, say, on Wednesday who I had. You know what I'm saying? Like, I was pissed off. I was pissed off. Obviously, I've earned that part to ask them and take on that responsibility. But, nah, we was doing a real lockdown when it was lockdown. You know what I'm saying? Like, we was following receivers, like, to wherever they went.

37:33If they went to the bathroom, we was there. We was going with them. Rest around. We was right there. We was right there. It ain't even matter, but that's what you wanted to do. And doing that says a lot about you because that could make your career short if you wasn't that good at doing it. Oh, yeah. You going to get exposed fast. You're going to get exposed ASAP. So the fact what you play, you play a double-digit year. How many of you? I did 12. In fact, you played 12. Reefus is on a whole other level. You sharing me. I can go down the line with corners who are just like, you know, really locking stuff up.

38:10So, yeah, we was on that type of time. But I tell people, man, like, it's hard. Like, this ain't for everybody. Everybody want to be Batman when they get robbed until it's time to be Batman. Come on. And they see what type of time it is. You got to have that short-term memory at that corner. It's the whole world out there.

38:27James Harrison:You stretch them up. You stretch them up 20 plays. They don't see the man-to-mans that they don't play. That play where I'm like, please throw the ball. I would have got the pick. I said, hey, Joe, let me give you a – I ain't going to say the name of the person, but I'm sitting there, and I don't think Ike is playing or whatever, and I come to Ike, and dude done got struck up on. All right? I'm like, yo. I'm like, what is going on, bro? Like, what the fuck's going on? You know what I'm saying? Yeah. He gets struck up on again. I'm like, I'm at my tee. He's like, man, get this off the field, man.

39:02James Harrison:I said, Ike, what's going on? Ike said, bruh, he ain't even have an excuse for me that time. He's done. Bruh, do you know he had to get struck up on again before they pulled this boy off the field, bruh? Like, his confidence was actually gone. Who's got struck up three times? The first one, I ain't even going to say who it is, bruh. Okay, somebody got struck up three times. Okay, my bad. Bruh, like, almost lost it. We was up by almost 21, right? Yeah, type of time, yeah. You got to play top down. What we got going on? Bruh, almost got us up out of there, bruh. Like, almost got us up out of there.

39:37James Harrison:And I'm speaking to the point of confidence. Like, his first one, he had a reason, but it really wasn't a good reason. Bruh, yeah. His second one, bruh, I was just like, bruh, I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. You get hit then at the corner, bruh. You got to play top down? Is he getting hit up on slants, getting taught to the crib? Tell this man, like, I don't even want to say what he said the second time, bro. No, it's, it's, it's, Joe, Joe, I always say this, Joe. It's just, we was, we was, we was, our era, we was on a different type of time. I guess playing that cornerback position, Joe, at our time, we kind of, I ain't going to say, yeah, I'm going to say it.

40:19We made it look easier than what it was. Yeah. You know, so a lot of people figure they can do what you do. You know what I'm saying? If he can do it, I can do it. Nah, bro. What comes with playing the best receiver is during crunch time, the offensive coordinator wants to go to him. He's going to find a way. During game time, obviously him and the quarterback have a good relationship, so sometimes they might go off a script. Yeah. So you're going to, instead of getting targeted, you know, four or five times out of the game, you're going to get targeted between 10 and 15 times. They're going at you.

40:55yes they're coming specifically at you so the mentality of that cornerback who wants to be shut down it's not for everybody no it's not for the weak you're playing press man over here exposed it's single and that's what it did it just exposed it exposes everybody but it exposed in that day

41:18James Harrison:you ain't lying you gotta be ready to play you know you gotta be ready to play ready and willing to play one on ones with the best man. Like, until you get a little bit, I mean, when I first started though too, it was more, I'm going to guard you man to man because I'm just going to out-athlete you. Then you start learning schemes and tables. So then it starts slowing down. But as a corner at the beginning, I'm like, I don't give a damn what route you got, fool. I could strap you up. 2%. That is the number of people who take the stairs when there is also an escalator available. I'm Michael Easter.

44:54In 2023, former Bachelor star Clayton Eckerd found himself at the center of a paternity scandal. The family court hearings that followed revealed glaring inconsistencies in her story. This began a years-long court battle to prove the truth. You doctored this particular test twice, Ms. Owens, correct? I doctored the test once. It took an army of internet detectives to crack the case. I wanted people to be able to see what their tax dollars were being used for. Sunlight's the greatest disinfectant. They would uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the same thing. Greg Gillespie and Michael Maricini.

How could this have happened at City Hall? Somebody tell me that. July 2003, Councilman James E. Davis arrives at New York City Hall with a guest. Both men are carrying concealed weapons And in less than 30 minutes Both of them will be dead

46:38Pow, pow Everybody in the chambers ducked A shocking public murder I screamed, get down, get down Those are shots, those are shots, get down A charismatic politician You know, he just bent the rules all the time I still have a weapon And I could shoot you and an outsider with a secret. He alleged he was a victim of blackmail. That may or may not have been political. That may have been about sex. Listen to Rorschach, Murder at City Hall, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

47:15James Harrison:Because I'm better than you. I'm going to stay right in front of you. You're going to get these hands. You're worried about your release, and you better worry about these hands I'm about to put on you. Well, I was blessed. I was blessed to have three different body styles receiver as a rookie year. So I had Plexico, Burris, Hines, Ward, Antoine, Randall, L. So all that different work. Yeah, all of them brought something different to the table. So whoever the receiver I was playing that week, opposing team, like I asked between Plex, Hines, and L, like, hey, bro, can I check you because this is the body type I'm going against.

47:46Let me already get my reps worth. So that's the type of time I was on because that's the kind of receivers we had. But honestly, throughout the course of my career playing for Pittsburgh, we had all different kind of body types. So every week I used to ask one of them boys if I could get some reps with him on the field, and I just carried it over to the game. Come on, man. I had Josh when I was in Cleveland.

48:07James Harrison:I had Josh Gordon. So I'm just, man, we going to get this work, JG. We going to get this work. Big boy. If Josh only would have kept his mind right. Oh, my God. If he only would have kept his mind right. If my man wouldn't have came in on the program, it was just a little smoke, just a weed. I just wish he didn't have to do the weed. Man, that boy wasn't up with that. 420? It's 420, boy. Oh, Lord. Hold up. It's 420. Where I'm at? It's 420. It's 420, guys. It's a cigar, right? You know. You got your little cigar? Respectfully, Debo. Hey, Debo, respectfully, you need to have a Howard G Cigars. So everybody go to HowardGCigars.com.

48:50Tell them why. Tell them why. Yeah, because they got that one-of-a-kind. They got that one-of-a-kind, which is Ike Taylor. Yes, sir. Oh, hold on.

48:57James Harrison:You ain't sent me none. Nah, I'm going to Howard G. Cigars. You know what I mean, I'm going to Howard G. You treat me like a second-class citizen? Go to HowardGCigars.com. Now, I got you, D-Bo. I got you. Because right now, y 'all don't know what you're smoking. But if you ain't smoking a Howard G. Cigars, that one-of-a-kind, you ain't really smoking nothing. Howard G. Cigars. HowardGCigars.com. Check it out, Joey. Let's go. Oh, no. I'm on that. Just tap in. Just tap in. You got it. Check it out. Y 'all heard what he said. Howard G. Cigar. Check it out. It's that Ike Taylor. It's that good. One of a kind.

49:30James Harrison:One of a kind. Look here. Let's hit these stupid chats. Real quick, Debo. We got Liam. He back$90.87. $2. Zach Frazier will crush Lawrence. Who is Zach Frazier? Our center. Oh. He go whoop on Lawrence. That's what he said. what you think nah LT LT a different type he had a different type of animal bro yeah yeah the unibrow he used to call what do you think of that trade for the bangles man for the bangles right now all I'm worried about is Pittsburgh who got traded to the bangles Dex Dex and Lawrence got traded to the bangles for a 10th oh yeah that's a good trade because whoever they was going to get at the 10th probably was not going to be better than Dex so that was a hell of a trade to get Dex.

50:19James Harrison:Even with a down year or surgery the year before? Hey, listen. Sometimes you got Joe Burrow. He need an O-line. If you give him a hell of a defense and he ain't got to put up the numbers he need to put up, then it's a whole different story. I mean, you got to keep him on his feet so he's happy. You know what I'm saying? I've been trying to tell Joe Burrow you could be happy over here in Pittsburgh. You can keep him on his feet by running the ball more often. this, you know. For an offensive lineman to do that. Nah, for an offensive lineman, they'd rather run blocked and pass it. They got that mentality.

50:58James Harrison:They got to have it. Nah, you're going to have to. It's easier for me to put my weight on you going forward than me to sink my weight and drop back off of a pass as an offensive lineman. Yeah, but do you want to continually just bang him, bang him, bang? Yeah, you got to bang him. As an offensive lineman, you got to want that. Whether they prefer, they'll prefer a run play than a pass play. I mean, it don't really matter. I mean, they're still going to lose. Joe's not going to be happy. I've been trying to talk to Joe Burrow about it. People always be talking as a Steelers fan. We talk about something.

51:36James Harrison:But he just don't want. I just know. Once Joe Burrow. Joe would be happy. He would be on his. He would find his love. Listen, Ike, the man lost the love for the game last year. You remember him saying that, right? You got your own opinion. One thing I want, I fucks with Joe. I like Joe. Joe really, like, he kind of reminds me, if you just go back to, like, Joe Namath, his personality. Like, Joe Kool really is Joe Kool. He really is Kool. Don't nothing bother him. Don't nothing bother that dude. And then he was talking about he wasn't happy, though. He was bothered last year. He wasn't happy. He was trying to figure out how to get his joy back.

52:19James Harrison:You want your joy back, you know what you need to do? Black and gold. Go up there and talk to Mr. Brown. Tell him you need to get down here. I'll let you represent Joseph. She talking like his angel. That's what A. He is. I've been talking for a while. Listen, hey, man, we got Covenant Life over here, man. Covenant Life, that's our number one, man. Number one fan of the show. $10, man. She said, this is for baby Jesus' cousin, A-A-A-Ron. Kiss my entire – for having us wait on non-throwing hell, Mary throwing self. My quarterback, Iron Club Will, is QB number one today. I don't know what he will be tomorrow.

53:01James Harrison:Bro, how you feel about Will Howell? Yes. I like Will, man. You obviously seen him in practice, right? Yeah, I like Will. Will just got that championship pedigree, right? Everybody in the locker room loves Will. You know what I'm saying? Like, Will just one of them personable persons. Like, he has what it takes to lead. He has what it takes in that locker room. So, you know, Will just – Will's going to be Will. Will just need the reps. He's coming off of that injury, of course. But like I tell people all the time, like, we can always have a plan, but God always got a different plan. so you know that and then to sit under AR-12 and just to see how he move a future hall of famer as a professional you know as a quarterback who wouldn't want him in the room why would not dissect his brain you know and AR-12 had some good things to say about Will as well so I mean both of y 'all know this by the end of the day we all we all scouts you know who good and who ain't good you know who got it don't got it you know what I'm saying so yeah I think I think Will got it for sure, though.

54:08James Harrison:I love it. And I think the better players that we get around them, the more we ain't got to make him be Patrick Mahomes as soon as he get in there. Like you said, run the ball. I'll tell you, Ben, the same way Ben came into it. The same way Ben came in, defense. Everybody, man. She back again,$10. She said, Ike, I love how you called Coach LeBeau, Coach Dad. How hard was it to not talk to him during game, to not talk to him during game time? Why was that's such a rule why did you think you were the fastest in the NFL at 30? I heard that you ran 4-1-8. Nah, that's Michigan's crew. It wasn't 4-1-8.

54:52I ran a 4-2-6, 4-2-7. That was the fastest time they had me.

54:55James Harrison:But the 4-1-8 isn't real. Not to answer whomever question, obviously you wasn't paying attention to the game because Dick LeBeau was the first group he came down to talk to throughout the entire game. So whoever said that wasn't looking at the games at that particular point. No question. Coach LeBeau talked to all of us. Yeah. He pulled us over. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know where that came to. That's a misinformation on that one, baby. I ain't going to lie to you on that one. Like, because he pulled us to the side. Like, yo, hey, remember that defense I ran three months ago in training camp?

55:30James Harrison:Y 'all remember? Yeah. All right. We about to run it. Man, Dickie didn't even have a caution, bro. He's saying that. He didn't even have a caution. It just used to come off the top of his dome. He just had such a feel for the game on the sideline. It just, he'll just, oh, man. It's just like for Symphony, he was the maestro. Yes. He knew he just had such a good feel for the man not to have a call sheet. You can only imagine. They don't understand how difficult that is, bro. Dickie was somebody different, bro, for real. They don't understand that, bro. 50 blitzes. That's just the blitzes. That's just the blitzes.

56:23James Harrison:Sitting here. Calling them off to whoever's coming in. Personnel. It don't matter. What's going down the distance? that's all he wanted to know. What's the personnel and the down and distance? Yeah, I can take it on. I can take it from him. Oh, it's so-and-so. I know he like to do this. Hey, run this right here. Right there. Off the T.O.P. I think it was different, bro, for real. You know what? I seen something. When they get back over here, get them to the side. Let me talk to them. Hey. That type. Three months ago. I know we only ran into training camp. Y 'all remember? Hell yeah, I remember.

56:59James Harrison:Yeah, we remember. Here. Get to it. As soon as they do that. Blah! Let's run that tight sting goal. That was a switch up call. That tight sting goal, that was a switch up call. Like, man, Dickie ain't even from here. Like, Dickie is a real live alien, man. Dickie was something different, Joe. I love that, bro. God, I wish I got to play for Dick. Oh, man. She back again, brother. What she talking about? She said, the highlight trash talking for me was you and Steve Smith, oh my gosh, during the National Anthem. And Chad telling him it was locking down the brand. By the way, you made Moss look real bad locking him down during the Raiders game.

57:48Nah, nah, Moss just went tripping at the time. He wasn't tripping? He wasn't tripping?

57:57James Harrison:Hey, you didn't even go talk about it. No. No. You just bombed up. Randy wasn't even tripping at the time. That following year, when he went to the Patriots, you saw what type of time it was on. Yeah, he wouldn't get 16 tutties. Yeah, at the time, he wasn't even tripping on being over there. And respectfully, I respected that. So, yeah, but I won't let up on the gas, but Randy won't tripping. He wasn't tripping on that. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to trip on that. I love that, bro. Bro. She's not about to get me to go down there. Uh-uh. You ain't about to go ahead and set me up. I love coming. He wasn't tripping.

58:42James Harrison:He wasn't even doing this one, huh? He wasn't even doing that one. Nah, nah. Every blue moon here, dude. But when he went to the Patriots, he was... He started a real boss. Hey, three steps. Yo. That was... Yeah. Because don't forget, I played against him when he was at the Raiders then when he went to New England to the following year that body language and that giddy up yeah it was in a little bit different yeah it was in a little bit different dog yeah he got that V12 engine yeah he had that V8 yeah you got that V8 that V8 ain't doing nothing with that V12 engine for real the shop hey hey hey the general manager of the shop now the general manager of the shop was doing things too.

59:26James Harrison:He knew that ball could get exactly where he wanted it. Oh, for sure. $1 ,000. He was at a whole different dealership. Bro, what you got going on draft week? What you got hitting up here? I'll be in a bird. I'll be in a bird tomorrow, Deebo. Going to get ready. Get prep for the city. I think what they say between 700 and 1.2 should be in the city for that week. I'm real excited not only about the draft day, but I'm just really excited for the city, you know. You know what Pittsburgh is. Yes, sir. You, regardless on where you're from, once you, you know, put on that black and gold, you'll always be some part of that black and gold.

1:00:09For me, it's the Rooney family. So the Rooney family is like a family. For me, they took me in like one of their ones, one of their sons. So that's how I feel about that city. The city is a hard-working, blue-collar city. bring your lunchbox to work kind of city and joe see this the city hits a little bit different the city has a lot of money but they don't want you to know that you they don't want you to know that they got money you know what i'm saying the city yeah we were a little bit different if you if you check if you check that parking lot on the south side man it's a lot of trucks you know what i'm saying it's a lot of pickup trucks you know what i'm saying so as far as like being extravagant you know probably playing for somebody else you know that parking lot would look like a car show but you know playing for the pittsburgh stillers it's a working truck you know and that's just that's just what the city is i mean debo you you've been there for a long time you know what the city presents man and once and once you win superbowls man you really is on scholarship for life for that city you can just go back to the 70 stillers and you know them boys still on scholarship you know you go nowhere yeah the city just embraces embraces you you just become one of them cities now don't don't get me wrong that city go down too you know what i'm saying but yeah pittsburgh pittsburgh just hit a little bit different man their lifestyle really humbles you you know just you know coming from new yorks all that time you know stunting was our stunting was our thing so we felt like if you had money you fought you showed that you had it now you go to Pittsburgh, it's totally opposite.

1:01:41You got money if you don't show people that you have it. So that's my big appreciation for the city of Pittsburgh.

1:01:48James Harrison:Yes, sir. Look here, man. We done ran over a little bit, but look, we want to thank my brother, for coming on through, showing us some love. Like he said, he go be here for the drive. Man, basically live here. You know what I'm saying? It ain't no need to go nowhere. Joe, he went back to wherever he went back to because he was a brown thing. It ain't nothing over there to go to. He went back to that compound. You know what I'm saying? Hey, listen, man. I'm over here sitting over here. My air conditioning wasn't even working last week. Debo keep lying like he don't have no money. That's what be throwing me all the way off.

1:02:26James Harrison:Debo be on here acting wrong. I'm on budget. No, Debo. You Pittsburgh. You hiding your money. The same way I was just talking about. Hey, Joe, your money a little bit different, bro. Man, it's just like... You got a compound. Hey, Joe, you got a compound. I know for sure you got a goddamn compound. God is good. God is good? Yeah, all the time. All the time. Every damn penny. Every damn penny, bro. You deserve it. You did your money. Thank you, I appreciate it. Yes, sir. I appreciate y 'all, boys.
