In short
Debate about Terrion Arnold’s reported interest from other NFL teams after the Lions waived him, plus a ranking of top NFL cornerback duos for 2026, and discussion of Chargers OC Mike McDaniel’s proposed footwork/stance tweaks for Justin Herbert.
Guests
None named in the episode segment; it’s a two-host show (“Deebo & Joe”) with listener superchats.
Guest backgrounds
Not applicable (no guests).
Key claims
Arnold’s attorney says three teams contacted him and expects Arnold to be on a new team within 30 days; hosts doubt teams will sign him quickly due to alleged kidnapping/pistol-whipping charges and possible ankle monitor requirements. Cornerback-duo ranking: Sports Illustrated’s top five includes Broncos Patrick Surtain II/Riley Moss; Rams Trent McDuffie/Jalen Watson; Seahawks Devin Witherspoon/Nick Emmerworth; Texans Derek Stingley Jr./Kamara Leste; Eagles Quinyon Mitchell/Cooper DeJean. Hosts argue Texans should be #1 and adjust others, placing their preferred duo around #5 and Steelers’ Denzel Ward/Cam Sutton as a notable comparison.
Notable examples
Herbert using a “green water ball” for footwork; hosts cite Steelers coach Carnell Lake (2017) and Jerome Henderson on widening alignment to set the edge.

Listen to Love Trapped on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Look here, man. Terrion Arnold reportedly has interest from three other teams since being released from the Lions. Terrion Arnold's attorney claims that three NFL teams have already contacted Terrion since he was waived from the Lions. The attorney expects him to be on a new team in 30 days. This is in response to prosecutors wanting him to wear an ankle monitor since he is no longer employed.
3:11Joe, how much of this are you believing? Debo, no, you first. You first. Hey. You first. Hey. Hey. Listen, why is his attorney talking about it's three teams that want to get him? Where is this Asian at? What is this Asian saying? You as Asian now, too? You got your NFL CBA collective bargaining agreement Asian license? Oh, my goodness, does he? What is you talking about? Hey, listen. Bruh, you can say that all you want to. They about to slap an ankle monitor on that boy. I'm telling you that right now. It ain't no team out there right now that's about to touch that. As hot as it is, and the fact that the Lions released him, it's some smoke in the city.
4:05I'm trying to tell you. Listen, the attorney can say whatever he want to. You know, you got to, you know, they trying to do what they can to fight the battles they can. For sure, that's his crime. He better have did that. We playing for the other team. Yes, I understand that. But look here. Get the team. Say the team's name, attorney. Say the team's name. Ain't nobody, listen, bro, ain't nobody touching this, man. Man, I'm trying to tell you, boy, that shit hotter than hell. And you know how hot hell is, no? Boy, infinity hot. What? That boy, my man Butter said. What are you talking about? It's, uh-uh.
4:44Damn. Allegedly. Allegedly, and that's why I'm looking at what Butter said. Butter said, did he apologize? I said, but he got to chill. He got to chill. you got to chill I don't know Debo if what his attorney's talking about about that 30 days I gotta hear from his agent I'm still staying out we got 30 days to see that's what I'm saying we got 30 days you're saying no hell no Joe yes all this stuff that he did is a legend but you and I both know that teams, especially NFL teams, NFL security, FBI, all that stuff we got access to, background in this, all that, they got a good idea of why they done released this man.
5:45You telling me it's a whole lot of smoke going on over here with all these charges, ain't no fire in place.
5:56I just, I, I can't believe it. I ain't gonna lie to you. I mean, I know, I know, I listen, I know that sometimes that it's just, it's misreported and they, they say things that aren't true and all that other stuff. I've seen it happen, true statement. But everything, he would, they would have to be lying about everything. It ain't one thing on here that's a little something that you could get away with.
6:26he sees this he's just he's claiming his innocence debo so i'm like they go we got 30 i understand claiming your innocence but you're talking about you about to get picked up in 30 days by who
6:42but we need to ask we need to ask his lawyer who were the teams he was talking to bruh he gotta go through the whole legal process of being acquitted before anybody will touch that you're kidnapped allegedly kidnapped pistol whipping allegedly pistol whipping bruh come on yeah D-Bo conspiracy allegedly come on Listen, man, them text communications and them phone calls, man, you can't. That right there is hard to.
7:26I'm going to tell you this right now, man. If it was team interested, I don't think the Lions would have released him. Because they wouldn't have saw any reason to release him. Like, they didn't like. At least held on like. Yes, hold on. Let's see where we're going. Hold on, let's see. It's so cloudy right now. It's a year. We're going to wait until the dust settles. We're going to wait until the pan out. No, they ain't waiting until the pan out. I said, no, we ain't waiting until the pan out. We're going to pan up out of this. Yeah. We got to wash hands. What you think, Joe? Debo, this is what it's just going to show us.
8:10He don't want to answer something, y 'all. When I start stuttering, it means it's like a sticky situation. Because this is really going to show at the end of the day, like you said, like the NFL. Who, what team is going to want to get him until just seeing like what's going on. You know what I'm saying? Like if it's all alleged and he has to go through the process, is the team just going to sign him, holding on to him to see like when is he suspended? Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, since the Lions let him go, now he's like a free agent, right? So it's just going to show, like, you're right.
8:47If your team is interested, it's like, okay, are you signing him now, knowing something that we don't know? Do you know what I'm saying? Like, it's just a sticky situation because if you had this player on your team, now all of the questions are going to be that unless you already know something. I got money already invested in him. I got time invested in him. I'm going to go and check through every avenue I need to to see how much fire is behind this. And if I see it's flames going on, I am getting up out of there. Why? You got guaranteed money still attached to him that can be cut off if you get up out of this situation now.
9:26Conduct detrimentals? Yes, sir. Mm-hmm. Yes, sir. I'm with you, D-Bo. But I'm just saying, I'm just trying to listen to how the Lions released him. And then you hear what his lawyer talking about. He's going to be on the team in 30 days. I'm just starting to clock. I'm waiting to see. Like, I hear you, lawyer. You know what I'm saying? The Lions, my man is free right now. If he ends up getting on the squad, then you surprise me. Because I don't see him coming out. August 8th. August 8th. August 8th. We'll see. We'll see. That 30 days. That 30 days. We'll see. August 8th. We'll see. I'm going to go ahead and give him to September because I don't see this panning out anytime soon and I don't know how favor boards go pan out for him to be honest with you Sports Illustrated released their top five best cornerback duels for 2026 at number five they had the Broncos Patrick Sertan the second and Riley Moss Number four, they have the Rams, Trent Duffy and Jalen Watson.
10:37And number three, they have Devin Witherspoon and Nick Emmerworth. Yeah, he's like a safety. Emmer something, Emmer Wari Emmerworth, something like that. Then two, they got Texas, Derek Stingley Jr. Texas, yes. And Kamara Leste. Yeah. Last year. And then number two, number one, they had the Eagles, Quinion Mitchell and Cooper DeGene. Stop, bro. Cooper DeGene is safety, ain't he? He's a corner. He's like a corner. Joe, listen here, man. You tell me what you think. As a future Hall of Famer that played the position, what do you think of this list, man? I'm going to let you go ahead and do your thing.
11:23Is it legit? Would you change anything? Would you? Tell me. You tell me, brother. I would go with, number one, just the Texans seconded, the Texans corners. Stingley and my young board is about to get paid. Them two are elite, can both tackle, can both cover, can both do everything at the cornerback position. Stingley is one of, I don't think he gets enough. He's one of the best in the league, in my opinion. He's top three corners just as far as he's a technician. He has great ball skills. Like, he's a receiver. Like, that's one thing that I think that puts him into that class where when the ball goes in the air, he can look at it and just turn it to the wide receiver.
12:07He's high-pointing the ball. He's mossing the receivers. I'm like, with his quick feet, with his patience on the line, his eye discipline, Stingley up there and his co-pilot has been balling this whole time, too. He's about to get a contract. So I would go with the Texans being number one. Okay. I like Mitchell and Cooper DeGene, but I'm going to have to put them probably around like, first and foremost, I'm sliming. I'm putting Patrick Sutan in the method too. Our boys need to get in there. Our boys need to get in there. I'm having to put, I'm going to take out, I like Moss. I like, Patrick Sutan is probably one of the best players in the league too.
12:49That's what I said. I said, I put them Patrick Sutan and the other dude, I put them at T2. Just because Patrick Sutan. You put them at T2? Yeah, because Patrick Sutan. Yes.
13:00I'm going to have to put, but Mitchell and Cooper DeGene. I love Mitchell. I like DeGene. You like Mitchell and Cooper DeGene better than what we got? No. That's who I'm taking out, and that's why I'm putting us. I'm going to move everybody down one. I'm going to take Mitchell and Dejean out, and I'm going to put our boys. I'm going to put Peasy, Lil Peasy, and Sean. Okay. Where are you putting them at? I'm going to put them right now. I'm putting them at five. Okay. Okay. So we got one, two, five. Who we got at three and four? At three, we're going to go with Spoon. We're going to go with Spoon.
13:48Okay. Okay, Devin with a Spoon. Yes, yep, yep. Okay, we'll go with Seahawk. Okay. We got them at three. Who we got at four? And then it's Trent. Trent McDuffie and his co-part. They stay where they at. I got you. They stay where they at. I like that. I like that. You know? I'm going to have to agree with you. I'm going to have to 100 % agree with you. I don't see how they left our boys up out of there. You know what I'm saying? Somebody who made this, they had to be an Eagles fan, man. They got to go make some— This season, with them together, they're going to make some plays, make some picks together, and they're going to see it.
14:25They just haven't seen them. They just haven't seen them working together yet. All these crews have played together. Yeah, see, they ain't— Listen, they ain't seen us yet, man. They ain't seen us. They ain't seen us. They don't even know. They don't even understand what they about to get themselves into. They don't even understand what they about to see. They saying, oh, it's the Pittsburgh Steelers. No, it's the Pittsburgh Steelers. That's a well-coached team. Yes. Yes. All these corners on here, though, be blocking. All of them, this is a good list, though. Legit list. Okay. Joe said it's a legit list.
14:59We just had to adjust a few things. We just had to adjust it. You know what I'm saying? We just had to adjust it. That's all. That's all. Ain't nothing wrong with that, man. Because I ain't going to lie to you. I ain't gonna lie to you. My boys was getting close to being in here, honestly. Like, I mean, Denzel Ward and Campbell. Denzel Ward and Campbell. I mean, that's what... They, yes, Deebo, don't get to playing crazy. Don't get to acting funny. You know my boys is basically... They basically in here. They basically in here. They in there. Where you got them at?
15:35Because I like Ward. I mean, because...
15:42It's hard to bump anybody out of here because, like, I like Riley Moss, but it's just Pat Sutan is holding it down for the crew. So I can't take out who I think is probably the top two corners in the league, you know what I'm saying, to put my boys in there. They at six? They at six. Okay, I'll give you that. They at six. They at six. They at six. I'll give you that, Joe. Can't forget about that. because, you know, Denzel was still locking at the warden for years. Yes, sir. I give you that, Joe. Yes, thank you. You recognize real ballers. You know them boys behind their strapping. They doing things over there.
16:19They doing things over there. Thank you. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? Thank you, brother. They just, you know, they just ain't got enough of people doing a bunch of things for them. You feel me? We don't see. That's why I say we got this season. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. We got number time. I'm Mungish, you're together and I'm back with a new season of the podcast Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones, and brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever for all of us.
16:54I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain, as opposed to his brain. Here's some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not expect it to be almost a four to five year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble. I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
17:35The Declaration, which is full of these beautifully rendered sentences and paragraphs about Enlightenment ideals, does also have this darker history to it. Why is it important for the darker part of the Declaration of Independence in the American Revolution? Why is it important that Americans know about it? Well, if we don't understand the full context in which our nation was founded, we won't understand the full context in which our nation now finds itself. 20:48Dean. Talking about as a kid. Do you remember that we met even way before that? Let me think. Did you walk up to the gate? That was me, Dean. That was you? That was me. The day we found out that you and the whole crew was at Hit Factory, the mission was to get me to go to the gate, start freestyling, and see if I could get in the studio. I'm rapping, and then suddenly, I hear a voice. Hey, open the gate. Let him in. The gate slowly went. They all, they're watching this, and they watch me walk into there, and that is a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life. Listen, and laugh but not least with MC Jen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
21:24I already told you. We ain't got nothing but time, man. Listen, and the time is coming to an end. It's gonna be put up or shut up. Yes. That's all I've been waiting for. All of this, all of these what ifs, what if he, who's gonna, how's he gonna, line it up. Line up? Line it up. Put your foot on the line. Yeah, man, line it up, man. Yeah. You going to barbecue mildew. You going to box or kick rocks. What you going to do? Listen here, man. I'm just going to tell y 'all boys, man. All y 'all need to do is tuck your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye, because we about to go ahead and bust y 'all ass.
22:02Oh, no. That's disrespectful. That's put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye is crazy, D-Bow. Tuck your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye, boy, because we about to go ahead and whip your ass. Woo! Look here. Okay. New Chargers OC, Mike McDaniel, is challenging Justin Herbert to change his footwork. Mike wants Justin to get the ball out quicker and rely less on his strong arm. He's also changing his shotgun stance, placing his non-throwing foot forward. Mike claims the switch gives quarterbacks a millisecond competitive advantage. Justin is downplaying the chances, saying it's not too much of a difference.
22:52Mike also has Justin using a green water ball to focus on his footwork and throwing motion. You think this is going to help him, Joe? Hell no. Hell no. You don't think so? Hell no. He ain't really changing that much, Joe. I'm going to tell you this. that man listen he only doing the quarterback now man i i just i don't think it's that much it's not like he's saying yo i gotta change all of his throwing mechanisms his you know his his his all that stuff he's saying you know it's just little things like you know his his stance like you know that's like when you get a coach and He's like, hey, instead of having that foot stepped up right there, and when you're in this coverage right here, and you know you got that inside coverage, take that foot and step it back a little bit so that you're already there.
23:51You ain't even got to move that foot no more, so you don't do that pat. You're just sitting there and boom. You know what I'm saying? He's giving him things, I think, that, as he said, it's going to get him to be able to get the ball out faster, recognize things like that. He's not changing like a Tim Tebow where they're like, oh, we're about to change his whole throwing motion and make him a better player. He's going to be great. No, you can't do that. Man, I've been throwing the ball like that since he was – you need to hide to a grasshopper. You ain't going to be able to change that now. I think this is some things, you know, and I'm not – you know me.
24:20I'm not really that much of a Mike McDaniels fan, but I feel like these are things that can actually help him because they're smaller things that you've had other quarterbacks be able to do and change and be more effective. So I think that this, you know, is something that will – you know, could actually help him. You know what I'm saying? I would say this. Mike McDaniel, love you to death. But when you got a quarterback, I would say just give it as an option, not telling the man you got to change your footwork. Do you know what I'm saying? I'm like, dude, he's been in the league for now eight, nine years.
24:58Quarterback, like some stuff. Rich Gannon, seven years. He said he didn't even know how he was playing quarterback until he met Mike McCarthy. but Gannon when he was first and he wasn't Justin Herbert, Justin Herbert's been balling. He's been making some pro balls, been throwing the ball really, really well. I don't think it's been him all the time. Like he's been having some injuries to his hand, but the way that he throws him being able to get it out there. Like that's kind of, that's kind of what he does. So, I mean, obviously telling somebody like giving them an option, you know what, maybe try this, you know what I'm saying?
Read the full transcript
25:27Seeing if it works so they can do some stuff, but like, no, what you're going to do is switch your right foot and forward and be a left foot. I'm like, If it doesn't feel like, then it's been planned a certain way his whole life. You know what I'm saying? So I like the fact of just trying to give him an inch or just trying to give him a little something that can help him out. But if that thing really, if it doesn't, you know what I'm saying, being comfortable to be like, okay, like you just can't. I don't want like a force change. Put your other foot forward because your ass is out there throwing it crazy.
25:56I'm like, hold on. And now what if it doesn't make him feel good? Like when I had to press and you're saying they would tell you, Joe, like, put your foot up here or something. I'm like, okay, I like it as an option, as a change up, but like maybe that shit doesn't feel right. You know what I'm saying? I still, I know how I can get there. Do you know what I'm saying? Okay, I understand what you're saying, but if his throwing mechanism or his throwing mechanisms is always that his whatever foot is back, why not start you in that position? So as soon as you catch, it's gone. I ain't got to flip my foot.
26:24It's already there. It's a millisecond. No, I feel you. I feel you. I feel you. It just, the quarterbacks being in the spots for a long, I'm like, if it's a millisecond of him being able to get the ball out faster and he's not making a big deal about it, then it's not a big deal. And you got Justin. He's saying, you know what, it's not really that big a difference. You know, he's saying it's not much of a change. It's not, you know, it's not too much of a difference. You know what I'm saying? And now, if that works and he's able to get that ball out a little faster, like you said, every second counts.
26:57Every inch counts. Every millisecond counts. It don't matter, you know. It's the difference between having the ball tipped or picked or getting it through and having a touchdown or, you know, so on and so forth. No, for sure. Like, milliseconds, you want to gain as much as you can. So if that ends up having this foot back so we can get the three-step, the one-step, you know what I'm saying, quick game, out faster, solid. Yeah, yeah, I understand that. So, I mean, you know, as long as Justin is saying it's not that big of a difference. Now, if he goes to where he's like, yo, you might be going a little bit too much where you're trying to change mechanics and all that other stuff, that's different.
27:45You can't go in because, oh, I want him to, you know, throw it with his hands at a certain level because that's going to be. no, you can't have a dude running around like this all day. You know what I'm saying? You've been throwing that thing for 4 ,000 yards, brother. Right, right. I can understand foot placement because if you're, like you said, if you're going and you're switching your feet, and that's like me, like lining up on the outside. I always lined up with a little bit of a tilt, and I have my foot to where it's my outside foot a little wider. Why do I do that? Because if I got back and forth, I don't want to have to go ahead, and the first thing I need to do is lift up my outside foot and move it out.
28:23if i gotta do that right i'm starting in the hole if i already got that foot sitting there now when he goes to step to me i don't have to rush to try and read it i could take my time now i see him stepping to me now i can take that foot and jam him instead of me stepping out i'm stepping 45 at him and now i'm cutting down that that edge and now i'm making it tighter so it gives me a better chance of actually making the play and making it tighter for the other guys to be able to get there where if you're a guy that's just you know you're just lining up there you're just going by the book my outside foot on their foot and and there's no oh yeah you ain't got no power you ain't got you ain't got you ain't got nothing there and now you're sitting there and you got guys that are just they trying to play it so tight because they want to read and hurry up and step and then the tight end give you one of these right here his head in but he step out and now they jump in you know what i'm saying so i'm like yo you ain't got it why are you rushing to to jump down inside.
29:19You got backer anyway. It ain't like you in a six where you got to read him. If you're in a six and you head up, yeah, now I got to read him. And then I tell him that. I say, hey, listen, don't crowd him. Why you want to crowd him? Well, I want to get on him fast. No, he knows where he's going. You don't. Give him some space so that you can see where he's stepping. Now you can go and get to him and use your power to push him back. Because once he goes, that's all he has is the advantage of knowing where he's going. Once you get there, you give him the power, you push into him and lock his ass out and push him back.
29:54It's easy. They want to sit up tight. I'm trying to periodically get there and read him. No, no, no. You're reading him anyway. Your job is to play a six. So that means if he steps out, you go and you jam him and you push him back, you try and shorten the edge. If he step in, you go on. The read means your corner right here, he coming down. So if he goes and try and cut you off, you stay into that C gap, your corner coming down, and he got that outside. You just can't get reached and cut off so fucking fast that now you shorten the edge. And now it allows the tackle to circle around you and get to your corner.
30:28Now we stuck like Chuck. Oh, now I'm now I'm mad. You on fire. I'm like, dang, bro, you got hold up. Why you what you doing? The tackle coming over here to me. Like, I'm sure it's something that you changed when you got into the league as far as like stands. That was something small that actually gave you an advantage. Debo, the thing that you're saying is when we had the tight end, love tight end, like I would try to be right on his outside. I'm like, no, Jody, you need to be two yards wide and four yards back so you can have a little bit more angle to come down and give him some force instead of you trying to come down so close.
31:05And they just knocking me right out to the side. They just pushing you out because you ain't had no force to get him to even stop that momentum. That's what I'm saying. So I was instantly, when I did that, I knew you got to widen up a little bit and then now you're reading him coming down on his outside shoulder tip. When I'm too close, I don't have no power. I need to be able to be back a little bit with the angle so I can see. I need to come down to that and be able to keep my outside arm free. Boom! So I can be able to set the edge. If I'm too close, he can just push me out and there's no edge.
31:33I'm just widening it up. If I can come down and really stamp, boom! Now I know my outside arm free. Nobody's getting outside here. They have to go inside. So just like that legit, widening up a little bit. I was always trying to be tight because I was worried about covering the tight end. and he's trying to run an over route. I'm like, bump that damn over route. Dude, you got speed. You got all that. No, no, no, for sure, for sure. But that's what I'm saying. Just knowing like we always— Make sure that if he going down there to block you, you hold that fucking edge. I need you to come down there with that 45, four yards deep.
32:04I need you. Yes. And if he's going to run a route, he's not going to come like he's going to block you because he's trying to get the hell away from you because he already knows he's at a disadvantage with his speed. Yes. I'm sitting there. Now you got to go— I'm five yards off. You're running. I'm faster than you. So now I'm going to slip anything you try to run. Yes. Listen, man. Now and now. That's ball. When you get that ball talk, B-Bow. That's coaching. Your coach going to tell you that. He going to give you that feedback. Because what the book going to tell you? Hey, outside right here, lined up tight.
32:37You can't do that. Hey, you victim weight. You need to be able to come down here. You got speed that he don't have. Coach Lake said, Jody, you can cover that overall every time, but that crack, you got to get wide. I'm like, you're right. And what year was that you got that, Joe? What'd you say? What year was that you got that information, Joe? I got that in, well, that was Lake telling me that it's in 2017. Yes, Carnell Lake, Pittsburgh Steelers. What year was that for you, Joe? Year seven? That was seven. Thank you. I was seven. But my man, Coach Jerome Henderson, he was telling me the same thing when we was in.
33:21Henderson was a great coach, too. Coach Jerome Henderson. He was one that taught me this morning, too. I can't lie. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. But I just knew that when Cardinal Lake was just because he was telling everybody, no, what you need to do is you got to widen out. So everybody's on the same page. Nobody's tight. Everybody's looking the same. Get four and two so you can come down there and set that edge. I'm like, yes. Thank you, Coach Lake. Now everybody won't be looking crazy. No question. And here's the crazy thing. Sit at that four and two when you got that corner blitz. Why? Because now they're thinking you're covering.
33:52You take off and snap. It looked the same. It looked the same. But guys, when you get down here, they so fidgety to try and get to their blitz, they done gave every goddamn thing away. I'm out of there. Love it. Good question, brother. Let's jump into the super chats. What we got, coach? We got Covenant Life. She back with$10. Yes, Covenant. She said, hello, guys. Hello, Covenant. Happy anniversary to you and your beautiful wife, Joe. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. She said, Debo, I would love seeing you in a suit and tie. Why? Because them... Covenant. Uh-oh. Covenant. Covenant. What she said, Debo?
34:36I don't have a super check. Because them thighs were burst out like 1970s. Cove to Life. Cove to Life. Cove to Life talking about my man Debo got 1000 quads. Yes, our sister in Christ. We love her. We love her. She's just talking, guys. She's just talking. Oh, my God. And she's just talking. Cove to Life is back again. She want to see them quads in the dress pants, Debo. We got y 'all. Oh, fast. She said, I have enjoyed seeing NFL greats support ALS.
35:26My dog, Troy Palowoo. Who was that? Palowoo? She talking about Palowoo or Palowoo? She talking about Palowoo. Okay. Did the challenge. Husky. He is. Hey, listen. I'm Manga Shatigular, and I'm back with a new season of the podcast Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones, and brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever for all of us. I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you, and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain. as opposed to his brain.
36:11Here's some hard truths.
36:40The Declaration, which is full of these beautifully rendered sentences and paragraphs about Enlightenment ideals, does also have this darker history to it. Why is it important for the darker part of the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution, why is it important that Americans know about it? Well, if we don't understand the full context in which our nation was founded, we won't understand the full context in which our nation now finds itself. I'm Rebecca Nagel, Goheen Dawadon, Jalika Yetli Gayla, citizen of Cherokee Nation. Are you guys big Chiefs fans? Hell yeah. This is First America, the true story of how the United States came to be and how we got to this present moment.
37:30Listen to First America on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
38:01is as good as Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, and it's as good as Timothy Chamillai as Bob Dylan. And I say that with love and respect for both of those actors. And I don't know how many Oscar nominations they give out. I don't know if it's five, six for Best Actor. 150%, this kid Jafar Jackson should absolutely, positively get nominated for his portrayal as Michael Jackson. Listen to I Am Rapaport on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I Am Rapaport Podcast. What did Black music, food, and culture teach us about who we were becoming? 2016 was sort of that last era of monoculture where we still consumed things in community.
38:51From Beyonce and Rihanna. Everybody wanted to be Beyonce. I don't think we'll ever see another Rihanna. To soul food, memory, identity, and the stories we carry through Black culture. What does it mean to be Black and eat in America? So we were this group of people who knew how to work the land, who knew how to live with the land. We make it do what it do. Therapy for Black Girls is bringing together the conversation shaping Black life right now. You will never make me feel bad for being a Black girl, for being a Black American girl, ever. 39:53Dean, talking about as a kid. Listen and laugh but not least with MC Jen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
40:30Listen, Troy, Troy, Troy liked to eat. Joe, if you can bling that hat out, it could be in coming to America 3. She's talking about the hat she was wearing. Yeah. Yeah. And you know what else I got? I got bean pies too. You got bean pies. Yep. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. It's all Covenant Life. Covenant Life, she back. She back. She back full go. She back full go. Covenant Life again,$5. She said, Joe, be honest. Does the Browns training camp start with this is our year, or do they wait until day two?
41:17Joe. We not. This is the thing, though, Covenant. We're not just crazy. So if I see us looking weak, I'm going to let us know early. Right now, I'm happy. I'm trying to see what it's looking like I told you. Eight to ten. You know what I'm saying? So that's not, I'm not saying this is our year. We're not delusional. You know what I'm saying? We're building. I get it. Okay. Okay. Covenant Light back again,$20. She said, James, which current brown do you think? think could survive one of your training camp practices without tapping out if you walked into the browns camp wearing a stiller's hoodie would they escort you out or ask for your autograph i don't know you had to ask joe that like like if they would they ask you would they escort me out joe or would they would they ask for the autograph it depends if you if you with me or if you just showed up to the premises unannounced if you go unannounced they might escort you but you come with your dog, they're going to open arms.
42:21They might jump me. Hey, Debo, man, you be talking crazy, but they ain't going to jump you there. No, no, no, no. Definitely not. Not with me present. Oh, that's what it is? Nobody's putting hands on my dog, Debo. Are you kidding me? Not if I got anything to do with it, Debo. Okay. Let's go. Let's go, man. We got 272 watching in the chat right now, man. We only got 125 likes. Where y 'all at? like that hat like the linen see I couldn't even go home and throw on the jersey I had to throw on a little linen ain't nothing wrong with that ain't nothing wrong with that ain't nothing wrong with that Joseph yes sir yes sir Heckle Sandy$5 said Debo who are your top five rushers that you molded your skills out there I don't have a top five rushers that I mowed my skills after.
43:20I have one dude that I mowed my skills after, and it's the late, great Kevin Green. Kevin Green came in and showed us the bull rush. He showed us the speed bull. Speed bull. You go from speed to bull, and then you go from speed to a fake bull, and that's what I used my whole career. Kevin Green came in and taught me that. And it changed the whole trajectory of my career from him coming in and doing that. Like, dude, he was giving us the bull. Like, we watched his tape, dude, of how he would bull rush dudes. And you're seeing, you're like, he's bull rushing, like, the big giant tackles. You know, dudes that was 360.
43:59Man, boom, boom, handing him, getting up. He's like, here, it's three-step, boom. It's five-step, boom. boom. He's like, and then this three-step, make it look like you go bull him, slap, rip. And that's what I used my whole career, dude. He had everybody bull rushing. We was bull rushing cats so tough, bro, that after Kevin left, Coach, Coach Kyra was like, hey, ain't no more bull rushing in practice in the rush drill. Like, y 'all got to stop bull rushing. Y 'all got to use some moves. Dude, We was bull rushing the dog piss out of them running backs, bro. The one-on-ones when you do them, bro.
44:41Killing them. Backs on backers? Yes. Backs on backers, bro. Bull rush. Boom. That was so messed up. Bro. Yeah, it was. And then, you know, you got to bull rush every once in a while because they're going to sit light on you. You know what I'm saying? They're going to sit light. You got to go ahead and do it. You know what I'm saying? But when Coach said they ain't allowed no bull rushing, the boys started sitting light again. So, you know, we had to pitch one in there every now and then. blah blah yeah you know what i'm saying let them know don't y 'all thinking it's sweet you're gonna get bored that's what that's just what happens no question we got carlos avarez seven hundred dollar mexican pesos come on 100 pesos yes said i'm not a doctor but i get physicals And so I used I used to cringe watching Shazier spear opponents.
45:34Our coaches. Our coaches particularly.
45:43Culprits for bad tackling form. Sorry for the sensitive topic. Coaches are not culprits for bad tackling form. Some people just get into a habit of maybe lowering their head. And then sometimes it's not about you having bad tackling habits. You may just hit somebody the wrong way. You come in and, you know, that was a timing thing. He's not looking to actually hit that guy with his head. He was looking to get his head across. But, you know, when you obviously lower your head, then you put yourself in a position that it's going to, you know, that's going to go down through your spine. So it's not that he was, I don't think he was taught bad tackling.
46:32I think it was just a situation where, you know, the timing of what happened and all that. And then some guys, you know, you go in there and you're trying to protect yourself. And that's really what it comes down to. And some guys, as we say, I tell guys, put your face in the fan. Like, you got to put your face in the fan. What that mean? I want you to see what you hit. So when I tell my sons, I say, hey, this right here, put this on them. Why put this on them? Because if you put this on him, you're seeing what you're hitting. I don't want you putting this because now you're lowering your head.
47:10You put this, you still protect yourself. You put your neck at that 45, which means now when you hit, you bow back like this instead of dropping your head like this. And now it jams down where you hit here, the brow, it bows back. So that's something that I'm real like, hey, see what you hit. Put that brow on and put your face in the fan. Yep. and you know nobody is taught to you know lure their head nothing like that it just it some guys lure their head lower than they should because of just it's just out of habit and you're able to get away with it for so long that it now becomes how you tackle and it's hard to to you know to change up after you've been doing it so long so here's the issue is that you know you're being taught as a child by somebody who is probably trying to live their dream through you because they want to coach at the level where like our best coaches should be at the at the level of kids why because i want to teach you the proper way that's the whole reason i never let my kids play context until i was able to see what they were being taught you know and and i ain't gonna lie they were teaching some things that was just out of control like get your head out the way and grab and tackle and let him know no no put your head across why because it's harder for them to run through all of this get up across than it is for them to run through this and now you're taking a chance of now you got guys that's getting shoulder issues all that you're tearing up shoulders why because you're trying to tackle his whole body and stop him here and getting your head out of it it doesn't it you know it it's not it's not conducive to having a long career, dude.
48:57It's just not. I mean, I know they love you. Heads up, get your head out the way. Head out the way? Nah. That's tackling the bag behind. You know how you do they roll the donut and now you tackle it behind? No, that's head across. I'm like, go ahead and do your drill so you can do your heads up certification that they got to get to be able to do what they want to do. But when it comes time for the actual real stuff, they got to do so much of that throughout the course of the year and then really teach them how to tackle to protect themselves. You know what I'm saying? So that they don't go out there and get hurt.
49:28Yep. Because, I mean, even from a jit, when we were playing Little League, when you were, and coaches would never want you to, when you, you got to see what you hit. And it will be, it happens fast. Like when you're playing and then, boom, when you're a kid, like you instantly, with your head down, you would hear your coach, whoa, whoa, whoa, head up, head up. Get your head out of there. Like, that's just something. But when you're playing, sometimes, then when your head hits that, you're, the helmet is messing people up. Like when we were Little League, Like dudes that are smaller dudes, they come down there and they know if you get hit with your helmet at the crown, you're going to fold the other person.
50:02So it is like it's just it's a safety thing big time. But coaches definitely don't. I've never heard a coach really like pushing that. They always want to tell you, whoa, whoa, whoa, because it can't you'll get away with it until you until you don't. You know, right. And that's the problem. As a kid, you can get away with it because your bones aren't and your power, the speed that you come with isn't as significant as it is as you get older and you get faster and you get stronger. Now you done got into a thing where you done got through it through peewees. You done got through it through high school.
50:32And now you get into college and now these dudes is fast. They're strong. And you can't get away with that stuff all the time. And sometimes you get that stinger, you know what I'm saying? And now, okay, cool, you got the stinger or whatever, but at what point do you actually be taught the correct way? And sometimes guys don't get that teaching and get it reinforced with being like, hey, get your head up. Get your head up. Get your head up. If I see you out there dropping your head again, I'm going to pull your ass up out the game. I got to. Because you're going to get hurt. Yes. It's not about if, it's when.
51:08It's not if or when. Yeah, for sure. Covenant Life. Troy Palou is my dog. It's a dog. So it's Paolau is her dog. He's a puppy. She named him after Troy? Yes, I don't understand that. Paolo?
