In short

Debates the Tom Brady vs. Bill Belichick “who mattered more?” argument, plus whether wide receivers are overpaid, and detours into NFL roster/analysis and stadium turf vs. grass.

Guests

Tom Brady (referenced as the speaker in the debate segment; not a guest in the transcript). Deebo (speaker; former NFL player, quarterback experience claimed). Joe (co-host/speaker; former NFL player, quarterback experience claimed). Additional sports voices are referenced (e.g., Mina Kimes, Ryan Clark).

Guest backgrounds

Deebo and Joe both speak as former NFL players/teammates of Belichick-era football, using firsthand scheme/film details (blitzing, signals, “green dot,” “throw-off” calls). They also discuss playing surfaces from a player-safety perspective.

Key claims

Belichick’s preparation/standards are essential; Brady’s quarterback touch matters most on Sunday, but neither can be separated from the other. The “left tackle vs center” analogy is used to argue every role matters. They argue defensive execution and discipline decide games more than national narratives.

Notable examples

Patriots’ 2005/2006 run; a championship-game defensive breakdown where the opponent “caught signals” and adjusted blitzing; discussion of “green dot” communication timing; turf vs retractable-roof stadium debate (Mark Davis/grass safety).

3:30Tom Brady is done. debating who's more important between himself and Bill Belichick in the Patriots dynasty. Listen to this. I'd be remiss if we get out of this interview without bringing up the old ball coach. We haven't talked about Bill one time yet. Yeah. I see so many things, and this started happening while you guys were still in the league. Is it Bill? Is it Tom? Like, who is responsible for the greatest era of success in the history of the NFL?

3:57James Harrison:Yeah. How do you react to those kind of, I guess, clickbaity arguments as well as like, what do you think of Bill and what he meant for your success? First of all, I think he's the greatest coach that, you know, ever, greatest head coach in terms of preparing a team to win. There was nobody better. I was my privilege to play for him as his quarterback. There's no coach I'd rather choose. And it's just a dumb analogy. It's like, what's more important, the left tackle or the center? Like, I don't know. Well, left tackle, we can be honest about that one. I disagree. I disagree. There's nobody more important to winning Monday through Saturday than the head coach.

4:35Especially in football. Especially in football. And there's nobody more important on Sunday than the quarterback. Now, everybody's important. The person who washes the clothes is important. The quarterback just has an outsized kind of ability to help the team win because he touches the ball so much. But I need everybody to do their job. But if you have bad quarterback play, it doesn't matter what else you do.

4:55James Harrison:You're not going to win. And if you have bad coaching, it doesn't matter how well the players are doing, you're going to lose. So I just think that question is like, they're all important. There's no way I could have been the player I was without him. And I think we pushed each other to, you know, get the best out of each other. And I think he's just, he's incredible. Anyone who played underneath him would say the same thing. Hall of Famer should have been first ballot, man. Crazy. Besides all that, man, one of the most respected ever to do it, man. that's facts joe and that's that right there bro is why everybody loves and respects tom brady you can disagree with him you can say he done said some crazy stuff but you still go respect him dude he gives as much as respect probably more than he gets he gives people like it's so much respect it don't matter if you're a practice squad dude if you're a dude on the team for 10-15 years man and him saying what he said is it's facts bill belichick is the greatest coach to ever coach the game you're looking at it you see it you see his you see his his championships you see his coaching tree you see everything that dictates that he should have went first ballot hall of fame the fact that he didn't go first ballot hall of fame man the nfl hall of fame has lost all in absolute credibility.

6:23James Harrison:We talked about it. Period. And this is what I say, Debo. I agree with him 1 ,000 % because we see these quarterbacks. If Tom Brady wasn't drafted to the right situation where you have a coach that's able to hold everybody accountable, his stars, all of his players, him and Tom Brady may have been bumping heads because he's holding that man accountable. And that's what you need from a great coach to be able to push you to be able to get the best out of you, to not let things slip, to not let that stuff just get so, just like blasé, flowy. No, it's none of that flowiness with Bill Belichick. You're going to be held to a standard every day.

7:00James Harrison:And that's what makes the coach so great because great players, if you want to be great and you know how much it takes, you will take the coaching because you know it's to make you better. It's nothing to harm you. It's only to help you. So if you want to be great, come take this coaching. Come, let's watch this film together. I'm willing to put in the hours because when you're a great coach, you can't deny. He's doing everything he can, sometimes maybe a little bit too much to get the edge. But the edge is going to get, you're going to know your coach is going to put you in the best position to win.

7:29James Harrison:So that's one with Tom. And he could have went to a different team, got drafted to a different situation. And like Aaron Rodgers, that's when you put, if you put this quarterback in this situation, how many wins does he get? Is it the coach or quarterback? It all works together. Because you can't say if Aaron Rodgers was drafted to the Patriots because he wasn't. and Bill Belichick wasn't coaching Aaron Rodgers and that situation didn't happen. It happened to be Tom Brady that got drafted there. Happened to be Bill Belichick coaching him with all of these players that he coached up all of these years to have this greatness and be able to do what they were doing because that's a great coach that's leading amazing talent on the defensive side, offensive side, special teams, bringing you in with execution.

8:10James Harrison:Doesn't matter with just sometimes being able to get rid of good players that you need, knowing like it might be a year, He was doing it a year too early before, a year too late. Bill Belichick just was able to cut the emotional side out of it and be like, what does the tape look like? What is going to be the best process for this team? And that's why when him and Tom Brady could start getting a little, he's like, I need to be planning for the future past Tom Brady. Like that's a situation where you're a coach planning for your team all around, no matter what's going on, how's it looking? We were knowing like, okay, boom, boom, boom.

8:41James Harrison:Just that's what great coaches do. So I respect Tom Brady talking about him at such a high level. And the same thing with Bill Belichick because they know what it takes. One couldn't do it without the other. It takes a great quarterback. Tom Brady was great. He wanted to be great. He studied. He loved the game. And the coach at the same time is bringing in everybody, other coaches, schemes, coaching other players, and having his team and his system ready for each other. Both of them, it was a perfect match made in heaven. So we can't take away one from the other. So who is he's like, I needed him or it would not look like that.

9:15James Harrison:And I needed him or it would not have looked like that. We needed our players. We needed Randy Moss. We needed, you know, I'm saying Gronkowski. We needed this this this team. So I think they both they're speaking very highly on each other. And you can't have one without the other. Yeah. I mean, you basically said everything that needed to be said there, man. Like, would it look different if it was, you know, somebody else? I don't know. Who knows? But I know like with Tom Brady having the skill that he has and all that, could he have went somewhere else and got seven or eight without Bill? I don't think so.

9:50I don't think Bill could went anywhere else with any other quarterback and got seven or six or seven, whatever it was, without Tom. So, you know, one can't go without the other, even though y 'all want to try and separate it and point to who's the best. they're not ego-driven. Nobody wants to have more credit than the other person. When you start getting ego-driven people who want more credit and want to be seen, things start getting destroyed and tore apart, like teams, players, whole organizations. You know what I'm saying? Football is one of the

10:25James Harrison:biggest, football is the biggest team sport. You need everybody. When he's talking about, that's why Tom speaks highly on, is the tackle more important than the center? He's like, if the center wasn't snapping me that ball every time and maybe making the center might be the ones being able to make the checks, being at the center of the line, you know they always say the tackle because you're guarding the quarterback's blind side. But Tom Brady's like, okay, that's cool for sure. I'd need that. But if the center isn't making those checks and he's in control of everything, snapping the ball every play, I would say my center was more important than my tackle.

10:57James Harrison:You know what I'm saying? And that's Tom Brady. And that's not for other people. No, no, no, no. He's protecting his blind side. I'm like, my center can't stop that nose from running him over. Immediately when he snapped that ball, we in trouble. Then we in trouble. The plays don't get started. Don't even get started. The center quarterback exchange. He got to get me. He touching the ball every play too. Right. So like, just for him to say that, like, it's just, quarterbacks understand. Everybody's on it. Tom didn't even hold onto the ball long enough to get his blind side ripped off. Out of there.

11:26I had a free shot on that dude a couple of times. And I'm like, I just whipped this dude in like 0.5 seconds. and he still got the rock off.

11:34James Harrison:That's a lie. It was literally times where all they had to do was just touch you, bro. And that was enough time that you'd be getting there as he's letting it go. I'm like, dude, what the hell? It's the brother next. He already know. He already know where he's going to go. Like, yeah, it was ridiculous at times. And, you know, of course, they did a little fan dangling over there, you know. And that one year, you know what I'm saying, like the year when we was undefeated, we popped them and Philly back-to-back, and then they came. It is the league, y 'all. Championship game, bruh. Mm-hmm. Bruh, when I say they caught us, they only missed one blitz.

12:22What in the world, Joe? how many times in your career have you ever seen where a offense gets y 'all on every blitz y 'all do but one? Now, don't forget, we blitz blitz now. We blitzberg back then, boy. You talking about 25 blitz, something like that. How many times, Joe? I can't tell you. How many times you done had to where your blitz did not get there, they threw right into traffic, looking at everything is telling you that, hey, man, they coming from here, they coming from here, they coming from here. and they like, nope, no it ain't, no it ain't. They throwing it right where you wouldn't want to throw it if you're looking at the, you know what I'm saying, if you're looking at this false setup we got coming to you.

13:05Yeah. But, dude, they was doing that hurry up. It ain't even hurry up. It was just, you know, call at the line. So we throwing their signals. Man, they catching all that. I don't care what nobody say. They just catching all that. They just catching all that. They move. Bro, we hit them by like 21. the before man they came back and popped us by like 21 in the in the in the playoff game championship game

13:31James Harrison:were y 'all running the same plays bro we was running the same defense we was doing different blitzes you know how coach LeBow he go line it up do like this whatever whatever but what they did is they caught us signals so that's when you signaled everything in so it was you know you got to do it with the hat and he signaled whatever We didn't have a throw-off call. We didn't know cats was still in signals. Oh, man. No, so yeah, y 'all. You got the throw-off call now, too. Yes, yes, yes. You got the dummy call. You ain't had no dummy call. We ain't know no text to it. Oh, man. Okay. Yes. You know what I'm saying?

14:07James Harrison:Yeah, bro. You got to learn. You got to learn the finagle, D-Bo. You had to throw the finagle around. Well, we started after that whole thing went down. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. We started doing that. But then they brought in the headphones for it. For the defense. You got the little green dot. Yeah. How long is the green dot on until what? 15 seconds? I want to say 15 on both. For the quarterback and for the quarterback. Okay. Well, see, that's, they, they stuff was on the whole time. So they had to line 40 seconds. They calling defense. They lining up. So we trying to get whatever. Hell, they got a whole, what, 25 seconds there to communicate.

14:46Debo, they had the extra time? No, they got 25. so you do 40 seconds but they already lining up so as they lining up we looking and they calling so they got that whole 25 seconds to figure out what's going on but it's even cut out so that's a whole I could be like oh yeah it's blah blah blah it's coming from over here don't pay attention that they showing hard here you know what I'm saying yeah that's all I'm saying bro like that's like playing Tecmo Bowl and I get your

15:15James Harrison:play yes it's over with looking at my controller right I got A, B, or X. And that's basically what it came down to, bro. They was hitting. I'm like, good Lord. I'm like, how did we we already like, yeah, we about to get to the Super Bowl. And we at home. We was at the crib. Bro. That was upsetting. That was upsetting. disappointment. That should have been a back-to-back because the next year we won in 2006. Stole a two-piece. Man, they stole a one-piece at least. Stole a one-piece at least. Stole a one-piece. A one-piece at least, bro. He wouldn't have got the next one, though. Hell.

16:13Bro, here's the thing, bro. The next year after we won, bro, we didn't even make the playoffs. We was like, I don't even know what happened, bro. I ain't going to lie. That was the first time I realized. I was like, yo, you can't party. I partied too long. I ain't going to lie to you. That first one in 2005 it was? Yes. That was only three years in. Oh, bro, I was going over there in Detroit, bro. Listen, bro. That whole offseason, bro, I think I kicked it until right before we came back for training camp, bro. Come on, Debo. Bro, I was young. I was foolish. You know what I'm saying? I was out in them streets.

16:53James Harrison:You like that in the young days. The streets had me. They had me. But I still went to the gym. I still worked. I still did all my stuff. I just, you know, that was when, you know, you can burn it at both ends, but it's still affecting you. You just ain't got that. You don't feel it as much. You know what I'm saying? You don't feel it nowhere. You're going to get on the back end. Yes. You're going to catch up with you so fast, bro. 20:25You know why he felt like football should be played on the grass, Joe? He said, that's for safety purposes, number one. And he said, I want it to look like a game was played, even if it's an indoor facility. You see grass, things, and everything else. I wasn't going to a stadium without it being grass once I knew the capabilities was there. obviously it added a lot of costs but it's worth it the man is putting his money where his mouth is they've got an indoor facility over there it's hotter than uh which is whatever yeah bruh they roll it in and out every stadium if y 'all want to have these indoor stadiums every stadium required to have a rolling in and out indoor turf you got to roll it out roll it in you know what's so crazy when i did nfl europe do it was um they had um i can't think of the name of the place i was in dusk of the name of the soccer team i couldn't remember but um they had rolling in and out turf back then that was like 2002 bro they rolled the whole turf out like they did an event, they roll the whole turf out.

21:40And when I say the whole turf, man, that turf was like, it had to be like maybe eight or ten feet. Yeah. Tall. Roll it in and out. They bring it out for water, grass. I mean, water, light, all that. Yeah. Yo, that was some good grass out there. I ain't gonna lie, bro. I ain't gonna lie to you, brother. Like, this is an owner that actually really is like, yo, I don't care about the cost. Safety. That's number one, Joe. Joe?

22:07James Harrison:So, what are you thinking, Mark? Football should be played on real grass, 1 ,000%. It just is the way. It feels so much better. FIFA came in, and they were saying, basically, they know grass is the way. If you're not worried about no money. And you go switch it back. You go switch it back to turf because they know that's just cost efficient. If you want to have something that's just people can, you can put stuff on. You can roll events on there and have different things happen, and then it's going to stay more the same. But as far as wear and tear, if you want to have your best ability on it, playing on grass is just the way to go.

22:46James Harrison:For your joints, obviously, and then when it's that good grass, the grip, it gives a little bit more. So your ankle won't get caught in it. It's naturally going to give a little bit just because that's the way grass works. So just him saying it is obvious. But knowing at the end of the day, when the owners, if you were to say, I do have a product out there, I am playing, what is the best thing? We're talking about player safety. Grass is obviously better for players. So it just, if you want to say that, I know it's going to cost a little bit more, but you are investing into your product. You are investing into the players.

23:24James Harrison:So obviously, like you said, unless they make it mandatory, then you could see some owners not doing it because financially it's not, it costs more. It's not efficient for them. They have to just make another step. But if you're just saying, boom, I'm managing my assets, my football team. I got my players out there. I want them to have the best playing surface. We use natural grass. We can do that. And then you'll see the owners that do step up and do that. It's just because they know it costs more. Some people, some owners and some people that own things, they'll do stuff for their employees knowing it's not as cost efficient for them, but it's just the right thing to do.

24:01James Harrison:They're still making money. It's not going to take from everything. They're not going to go into the red because they're buying a new field. No, it's just going to, this year it might not be as much profit because we ended up putting this into the field. Cool. So next year's numbers will probably be, you know what I'm saying? It's just, when you see an owner say it like this, like, boom, I know. Hey, listen, listen. When you see a owner, he is the only owner that has said it like this. What are you talking about? But the other Jackson. I'm surprised they ain't went and tried to put a leash on his mouth or something.

24:31James Harrison:No, the other owners that have switched it to grass, the ones that have grass, they say this. They say it. So it's the ones that aren't saying nothing, that do have turf, that are still chilling. They know why they're not doing it. How many people put it out there that they said it's for safety purposes, number one? How many owners have said, I'm changing this for the safety purpose, period? Put it out there to the public. Can you name one? Was it the Jacksonville Jaguars that just switched off of there? Somebody, the Buffalo Bills. Jacksonville was always grass. The Buffalo Bills, grass. But if you're grass, I mean, it doesn't have to be.

25:10James Harrison:I don't think so. I think Buffalo, they switched to grass. The new stadium is turf. If they switched from grass to turf? No. They were turf. And they're switching to grass. Yeah, that's what he said, because Buffalo Bills. No, they might still be turf. I don't know. Let me. Hey, somebody tell me what Buffalo's new stadium is going to be. Chat. If a team is already grass, though, and it is grass, they don't have to state. I mean, they would obviously, if they would have been turf, it's because they could hold other events there. If a team already has grass, that's because they're obviously probably looking out for the best of the team.

25:45Or maybe the stadium is so far away that they don't have the opportunity to hold more events. And it could be a situation where, you know what, the grass is a lot cheaper now. Now, why? Because I'm in good weather. It's easier to take care of. It's going to be one team playing on this. It ain't going to be 20, 30, 30, 40 games played on this thing. You know what I'm saying? Like you go and like that's what it is. But I guess they switch from turf to grass. The Bills.

26:15James Harrison:OK, yes. All right. So now they got an underground heating system, grow lights, moisture control, all that. Like they just put some money into this thing. Why? It's cold in Buffalo. You can't let the field go and just do a, what was it? What was it? The frozen tundra of land. It can't freeze over. Then you can't. Skating on ice. Then your cleats can't go into the ground at all. Cleats can't go into the ground at all. But you know what? That's part of the game, though. You got to go ahead and put them seven studs on. Get it going when it's snowing out there real thick. What Cleveland go do, Joe?

26:49They go put in turf or they go put in grass?

26:51James Harrison:Grass. Are you sure? Oh, but I don't know for sure by the end, but I definitely would expect us to put in grass. Expected to feature artificial turf, Joe. No. With a retractable roof. Watch. Artificial, no. No. That's what it says, Joe.

27:12Artificial turf? Well. Synthetic surface to accommodate year-round events. See? Yes. concerts, conventions,

27:23James Harrison:and motorsports, Joe. That is obviously what I was saying right there is showing you the park. They don't clean them right there. That part of it, we just let them know that is for the, that stadium is also used for the bag. That stadium is also used for the bag. We will have concerts in there. It will be a lot of events going on. Got to be more careful. But it's going to be turfing. We're going to be able to hold a Super Bowl, but that's not what, that's not. You could have won. I know. I know. I know. This is not player-efficient turf. Dang. Player-efficient turf. You mean just grass? We needed grass.

28:03Player-friendly surface.

28:05James Harrison:Player-friendly surface. God. All right. Yeah, Joe. That's how y 'all do it, man. Y 'all go spend a billion and then put turf in that thing. We're going to hold a lot of events. it's the it's the we go hold a lot of events who coming up to all these events in the middle of winter when it's snow and it's it they get real snow up there joe i'm only 40 minutes away from that and i get some of it but they get bro you could drive 40 minutes bro sometimes sometimes three feet

28:40we really got artificial we really got artificial buffalo gets more snow than y 'all and they got real grass coming. That's crazy. They got it.

28:48James Harrison:And they got it. They win. They got a little dome too. They win.

28:57James Harrison:We really doing artificial grass, Debo? Yes. That's what it says. That's what they're reporting. I don't. What you want me to do? I'm going to check on your reporting, but. Go talk. Go talk to the people, man. Go talk to your people. make a call make a phone something I don't know turf man look we go turf I like grass more cleveland.com gotta be moving fast go check it out brother alright thank you they said expect the Browns to be paying on artificial turf what you want me to do I can't I don't make this up what you going with let's go yeah I don't make this up Joe I don't I don't like making up things man I don't like I don't like Cleveland looking like Cleveland.

29:50I mean, that's what they do. But you know, we're going to be able to wear moldeds. We're just going to know. Oh my goodness. Look at you, Joe. That's why y 'all can't do nothing. Y 'all go for the...

29:58James Harrison:Oh my goodness, Joe. So I need... We need... This is right here. This is where I'm trying to tell you something, bro. Like every time, bro, I'm trying to get you to do what you need to do, man. Help them get it. You're talking about the land and all that other stuff. Yeah, we do. Who going to the... Like, what? Huh? Who? You know what they going to do then? They going to start holding all types of games there and all that. They going to have every game. That turf going to be... It's going to probably get tore up because they going to use it so much. They going to have a game on there every day.

30:31They can. They looking for the bag.

30:36James Harrison:That's good. Yeah. Why don't y 'all look for the trophy? We looking for the trophy. Y 'all ain't been looking. We all looking for the trophy. Y 'all ain't been looking for a trophy. Y 'all was like, hey, they got a trophy around here somewhere. I think it's like a jackalope. It's a mythical creature. Don't get confused. Don't get confused. Don't get confused. It's a unicorn. We looking for it. Put that horn. Y 'all putting glue horns on horses and shit.

31:10James Harrison:Don't get us confused. with just because we got... With the team? With Superboy and y 'all won. Or even going to.

31:24See. So, okay, I was making sure.

31:27James Harrison:No, we haven't. Yeah, we on the way. We got to first figure out what's going on with Shador. First got to figure out our quarterback situation, all right? Our defense been solid. We got the weapons on receiver. But right now, we're just worried about what's going on with that. I don't know if all that turf will be conducive. We're going to be able to move. We're going to be flying around on the turf. That's for sure. There's not going to be a footing excuse. But, damn. Hey, I could have swore. I could have swore Shador used to playing on grass, eh? He can play on all surfaces. I'm just saying.

32:02James Harrison:Shador can play on all surfaces. I'm just saying. Don't let the surfaces go. I'm not saying the surface is going to do nothing, but I'm saying it's going to keep him healthier healthier because when he getting sacked and plumbed to the ground, it's going to be a lot of turf burn on that turf from sliding and getting slung. It's going to be a lot of good block and a lot of pocket presence. We were talking about how Tom Brady's getting the quick release. If you don't, don't do that. As soon as you beat your block, he'll be like, oh, man, that Shadok got out of his hands already. Yep. Stop playing.

32:29James Harrison:You know he patting, too. He was ready right there. You know he patting, too, man. Quick pat. Everybody pat. And now that's what Shadok got a problem because he pat. Everybody pat. I don't pat. I don't pat. I get that thing out. Man. If I pat, it's this, because I'm pumping. That's it. I don't put on. And then it's. You wasn't. I was a quarterback. I had a little. I had some time. Joe, I don't believe you could throw that ball at all. Man, D-Boy, I got a rocket. Wait till we link up next time. Like your who game? I don't even want. What? We only lost. Look, I had 20 last game. That's all I'm going to tell you.

33:06James Harrison:How much you lost by? Four. Against who? Not the same team? No, no, not the same team. Another team. Y 'all ain't won a game yet. We 0-2. Damn, Shane. We only had two games. So, look, third game coming up this week, Sunday. About to be 0-3. Ain't no way. This team we playing. What you want to put on it, Joe? I put 20 on it. Oh, that's too much for me. Nah, uh-uh. Hell no. Uh-uh. Nah, I put$5. $5. Hell no. $5, nigga. I'm giving a dollar. I can't lose all that if I lose. I could do a whole lot with a dollar. All right. Yeah, we're going to win this. How much penny candy I could get with a dollar?

33:48You know how much water I could get poured into my hand for a dollar?

33:51James Harrison:D-Bow, real question. You never played quarterback, though, before, have you? Joe, do you think I was always big, huh? No, no, no. I don't think it was always big. I mean, maybe. Joe, I wasn't always like this. I worked my way into this, Joe. So you played quarterback. I used to be victim weight like you. And I said, you know what? I'm tired of being over here and not going ahead and getting to feel what it's like to go and just put somebody down, put them to sleep. You know what I'm saying? I was like, I want to do that every day, every play. And I said, hey, I got to eat weights. I started eating weights, Joe.

34:37Okay. At the age of probably 16.

34:43James Harrison:16, okay. It ain't really work out for me as well as I thought it would because I only left high school. I know my rap sheet said it was 6 '2", 210. Ain't no. You ain't never been. Joe, Joe, Joe, stop, stop, Joe, stop. Listen, I'm trying to tell you the truth. I'm trying not to. It said I was 6 '2", 210, but you know, when I played in high school, it was always two inches and 20 pounds. so I was 6 foot 190 okay okay so I'm just being honest I was about to say so when they listen Joe I believe my heart and soul so when I got to college and I was able to play after having to sit out two years and they measured me and I was only 6 foot I said huh I was like 6 foot yeah you believe a lot you believe the extra 2 inches that you put on back in the day yeah you stay right ahead legit 6 foot But I was 270, though.

35:37James Harrison:Mm. So when did you, did you play quarterback during any of this time? I played quarterback. Don't lie, Devo. Listen, listen. I can tell you, I'm setting up the line. Listen. I'm listening. I played quarterback. Okay? Yes. Now. Make it a summer of life at Credit Union One Amphitheater. 39:57James Harrison:Thank you. I'm like, when? When? I knew you didn't play quarterback, Deebo. Damn. Now, I can tell you legitimately, I will pull up my high school highlight tape, and it's me spinning the ball. Quarterback. Joe, I can throw the ball. I can throw the rock, Joe. I just didn't want to play the position because it wasn't a hard enough position for me. What? It wasn't enough contact, Joe. Hey, Joe, I'm going to tell you this right here, though. I ain't going to lie to you, bro. I'm spinning that, Rob. Joe, I ain't going to lie to you, bro. Listen, I played the school. I can't remember the name of the school, dude.

40:34But damn quarterback, bro. Listen, bro. I ain't listening. Big country white boy, Joe. Listen. Okay. Bro. Is he nice? Listen, this dude, he played quarterback and middle linebacker. Yep. Yep. Bruh. Yep. He was like 6 '2", 6 '3". Yep.

40:55James Harrison:Yep. About 230, 240. Yep. Yep. He was nice, too. Hit him. Bruh. Run y 'all over. Was he more running? Was he running the ball at all or throwing? He was slinging that thing. See? I ain't going to lie. He was kind of weak at that backer. I put that oo-wee on him because I was tailback then. I put that ooey on him. That's what I knew. Our big lineman dude, he goes running to tackle this dude. And you know how the lineman just grabbed like this? Yeah. Man, he went to grab like this. Oh, dude, put his head down. Put his helmet right here. Ow. Dude caught him. He ran him. Like, he didn't run due over.

41:34He hit, fell on top of the quarterback. They went back that way. But, bro, do you know he cracked his sternum?

41:41James Harrison:That's what I was about to say. He fractured his sternum. I was going to say his sternum. I knew him. Oh, my. This dude finished the game with it. I said, ooh, you better than me. Oh, you're a wild man. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. I cannot. Mm-mm. That's why you don't leave your chest open. Nah. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. Yeah, dude. Yeah. I was like, I'm looking at the film, and I'm like, damn, that boy got the inside linebacker got the same number as the quarterback. That's him. That's him. Yeah. Yes. Bro, when I say he can slang that thing, man, he was throwing that thing like 50 yards on a rope, bro. Too bad they couldn't catch.

42:24James Harrison:It be like that. Bro, let me go over here, man, get these super shots, man, before we be over here all day. We got Tennessee Kane, 4-2-3,$2. I said, F the Patriots since the Jesse James touchdown. I feel you. I feel you. That was cheat. He scored. Knee down, cross the line, tutty.

42:53James Harrison:Everybody know it, Joe. Everybody know that. Everybody know it, Joe. You know I know you. Everybody know. I know you know. Look here, man. And, you know, let's be, hey, I ain't going to lie to you. It was the refs. But listen here. I ain't going to, listen. I'm going to tell you something else too, Joe. I was over there, man, when I went over there for the, for my last, you know, when I left the Steelers and y 'all got kicked out the playoffs and we went to the Super Bowl. I went over there and I was playing, bruh, and it was a call. It was a call that I'm looking at it on a jumbotron. I'm like, oh yeah, they got us on that one, right?

43:26And the call comes out and it is the total opposite. It's in our favor, da-da-da. Bruh, I actually looked at a dude. I ain't even going to tell you who it was. I said, what is that? He said, it's the Patriot way. I said, what?

43:44James Harrison:See, they accepted the jankiness. I said, you know we get calls that ain't supposed to be a call sometimes. I said, so you know that call was wrong. He's like, yeah. Yeah. See that, damn, at least he knew. At least some Patriots, they got to know. They got to know. I'm like, oh yeah, they got us. You know what I'm saying? They got to know. I'm like, oh my goodness. Yeah, that one was. That was all the way janky. And at least when the real fan, when the Patriot fans know it was janky, they're going to take it. They're going to take it. I don't blame them. You're going to take it? He's like, no, no, he said, no, he said, this New England.

44:18That's what he said. He said, this New England. He said, this New England. I'm like, oh, so that's what happened over here. He's like, yeah. He's like, damn, damn, damn, damn. Bro, Covenant Life,$10. She said, Mina Kim's, Ryan Bob. Mina Kimes. Mina who? Kimes. I say Kimes to me. I feel you. I just know her name. Oh, you know her name. Mina Conn and Ryan Clark ranked the Bengals ahead of the Steelers. What? What are they seeing that you're not seeing in Pittsburgh? You want to know, Cover the Life? Is this analyst or is it just the same old national narrative?

45:03James Harrison:This is what it is, Cover the Life. If you have a young, if you have a young quarterback that in the day is a franchise quarterback, young and in his prime, and they have weapons on the offensive side of the ball, they always are going to say that they have a shot. When they had Jamar Chase and Joe, a healthy young Joe Burrow with T. Higgins, and then they say they're going to get some, they got some defensive pieces. They know if the defense is just average, they're going to be able to score 40. That's how they look at the Cincinnati Bengals. They can score 40. They can score 40. Their defense is just comparable.

45:35James Harrison:So when they have the young Joe Burrow with Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins, they look at that as an offense that's unbelievable. So if you just have a competent defense, they're always trying to put the Cincinnati Bengals to a high level. He didn't play a lot of last year. They're saying the injuries, but they're always saying if Joe Burrow is on that team, it's Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, that offense, 40. Defense, give me something. They're up there. That's how everybody, analysts, the sports world, they look at them with, y 'all got Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, Tee Higgins. Y 'all have 40 on offense every time if they're out there.

46:07James Harrison:Get you a defense that does anything, and y 'all could be able to get to the Super Bowl. With us, they're like, oh, do y 'all got Aaron Rodgers? Who's y 'all's quarterback? The defense is not doing the way that they've been doing. Like, y 'all are just going to be average, average, average. What is the next thing? So, with us, we know we can see. I believe that we're still going to be nice, but everybody else outside, Nationals, like, the Steelers, when is the last time they won the playoff game? The Bengals were already to the Super Bowl with Joe Burrow, with Jamar Chase. They've seen them do it before.

46:38James Harrison:So they're always like, oh, healthy Joe Burrow. They're going to be able to get there. They're going to be able to do it. Just defense, do something. Defense, do something. So that's, Brad, like Bengals. I keep looking at it too. I'm like, yo, the Steelers won the division. They're like, Joe Burrow didn't play. Lamar Jackson wasn't healthy. Okay, okay. We got the same squad. Aaron Rodgers, oh, okay. We got better on offense. Defense is better. I'm looking at it. We're looking at it like just chill. We can still be right. We're going to. We were in the mix last year. Nobody expected it. We got to steal it.

47:06James Harrison:What are they going to do? Oh, man, Aaron Rodgers, we still won the division. All right, now we got a better little squad, defense, coaches. Let's lock the fuck in. And now I think we can sneak in where other people are like, no, they're just going to be able to still go and do, you know what I'm saying, 10 to 7. You know what I'm saying? Maybe make the playoffs. Maybe not. Bengals, they're just giving them a higher ceiling with a franchise quarterback, with Joe Burrow. He's healthy with them. They're going to put up 40. They went and got some defensive pieces. they're trying to acknowledge that if he can make it through the season, they're just better.

47:34James Harrison:I'm like, no, they're not just better. Like, we can play against them, lock that defense, lock that offense up. You know what I'm saying? They can't just go down and score on us at bay. You know what I'm saying? So we play our game. They're not just beating us. And everybody's looking like, no, Joe Burrow out there, they're going to be able to score how many times they want to score. So outside looking in, it's easy to say, you've seen Joe Burrow, be Joe Burrow and do it with Chase and Higgins. So they're always just, oh, no, with the healthy them, they're just putting 40 on the board. and now defense do something.

48:02James Harrison:So that's why everybody nationally thinks the Bengals are going to be so good. And I'm just like, you're going to have to play the games. They're going to have to score 40 still. You know what I'm saying? Joe Burr's going to stand upright. These dudes are nice. You got ballers. So I'm not mad at you when you say it because it does make sense. We've seen it before. But I just, it got to happen. Season got to happen. Yeah, season got to happen. Like I said, Joe, I don't agree with none of that. Covenant Life,$10 again. He said, if you were building your own powerhouse, where would you rank the Steelers today?

48:36And what has to happen in training camp to make them a legit team? Joe?

48:50James Harrison:What would have to happen in training camp is... Hey, I'm on podcast. literally my thing is the defense the execution execution of the defense execution of the offense everybody just execution like we have the players if we can execute with the running game blocking stay ahead of the sticks executing in the pass game people knowing their routes assignments being on spot one time with the communication with Aaron Rodgers the defensive side I'm not seeing anybody running scot-free like I said this before people are in the same if everybody's in their positions and dudes are just not going out of themselves, but just playing consistent football, good football, like disciplined football, I think we're going to be head and shoulders above what anybody else thinks.

49:34James Harrison:Because I think we're hurting ourselves, getting ahead behind the sticks, just like first downs, losing on first downs just because of hurting ourselves. So if we're not hurting ourselves, that's all we need. I'm like going through training.

49:50James Harrison:I just hurt ourselves offense, run the ball, Aaron Rodgers, hit the dudes when we need them, win our running game, sitting, one safety come down, DK, time to work on the outside when we get to one-on-ones. Let's hit our one-on-ones. You know what I'm saying? Like, just basic football stuff, so there's not nothing going to be crazy, but it's just going to be you're watching a good-ass football team perform and not having people running around looking like an undisciplined team. Okay. I'm with you. I'm with you, Joe. Coming in like, I guess she is back again for$10. She said Yo, this morning, GMA, they featured the Browns helping the school with a new football field.

50:29And the little kid said, thank you, but the Browns are trash. She said, I hollered. Oh, she's kidding.

50:38James Harrison:She's kidding. Great community work. Okay. I was about to say, kids, the kids, they go hard. They don't. She said, I'm just kidding. Great community work. I was out in D.C. the other day doing my community service. Kid like this. But you got drafted to the Browns? I'm like, bruh, dang, I got drafted, bruh. Yeah. I said, hey, Joe, I ain't get drafted. You know what I'm saying? I ain't tripping. You know what I'm saying? Hey, man, I'm telling you, these kids go hard. I'm so glad. You know what I'm saying? They got me to a team. You know what I'm saying? That's what I'm saying. I done wanted to make it, brother.

51:12You know? Give me Lombardis.

51:14James Harrison:Then little bruh asked me, how many championships you got? I was like, well, I don't have none in the league. He's like, how many you got? He said, I got three. I was like, you talking about these Little League championships? I got like - Oh, you going to bomb on a little kid, Joe? After he bombed on me, little man said, how many championships you got? I said, I don't got none. How many you got? He said, I got three. I said, you talking Little Leagues? Man, I got like 10. Man, listen here, man. Joe, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike 100. He tripping, man. $5. He talking about what up, Debo and Joe? I'm going to be honest.

51:44I'll take Debo at quarterback over A.A. Ron. Oh, see. Now, D. He just talked. People can learn to throw before the season starts. Man, you tripping, bro. See, ain't no way. He'd be out there. You tripping, bro. My man from... Thank you for the vote of confidence, but you set tripping.

51:59James Harrison:Anybody throwing anything on this pod, it'll be me. No, it's not you. If it's between you and me, it's damn show me. Oh, you're tripping. Yo, you want to have a throw-off? A thousand percent. Yes. I got it. You know what? When I bring you to the crib, I'm going to do basketball too. I'm going to have a three-point contest with you. Whatever you want. I ain't got no basketball hoop, though. I ain't got money like that. No, I got... I'm sorry. You're going to come... You got a football? You got to bring the football, too, because I can't be going wasting no money on my football. I got all of the materials we need.

52:29I'm about to say, because I ain't got none of that, man. That shit goes too much. I don't need you to bring nothing. I go down to the Steelers facilities and see if they give me one, though. Oh, no. They definitely... We got some Steelers footballers right here. Covenant Life. She back. One more time. $5. She said, Debo, have you received your Browns jersey from our future Hall of Famer yet because I haven't. Well, I haven't.
