In short
Episode topic: Deebo & Joe (Part 2) talk gym “mentality,” viral/influencer success vs real training, and the “tax” system that turns breaks into extra reps; they also discuss mentorship, sacrifice, and mental toughness (“switch,” “kill jar,” “till you die” mindset).
Guests (backgrounds)
- Deebo: veteran gym trainer/coach figure; emphasizes pushing past failure, transferable energy, and mentorship after workouts. Mentions inspiration from bodybuilders/athletes and a “Till the Death” clothing/community brand started around 2021.
- Haddy: 27-year-old; former D1 soccer player (civil engineering degree); trained daily for pro aspirations; now focuses on gym discipline and rehab mindset after injury.
- Joe: NFL player turned podcaster; returns to training, wants to bring his father to the gym.
Key claims
- Real growth comes from pain + conversation after training, not cameras.
- Influencers often come for virality; serious trainees come for soul/body.
- You can’t “quit” when your livelihood depends on it (firefighter analogy).
Notable examples
- Ashton Hall and Matt Reif visiting the gym and being “dogs” once cameras/security pressure dropped.
- Shizzy (LA influencer) crying during filming; coaches stop filming to let him decompress.
- Joe’s promise to train “today,” plus a planned workout with Deebo, Joe, and both fathers.

2:22So, tax. We got to get Joe in there. Next one, Joe in. You can do it. No, I know. Listen, I know I can do it. Because look, when y 'all saying these workouts, my dad was a professional bodybuilder and he works out every morning, four o 'clock. I want to get him in there. Joe, Joe, Joe. Listen to me. We talking about reps. I'm talking about hella reps. I know. Debo, I'm trying to tell you the one person that I want to go, I'm going to come. For sure. I want to come and I want to bring my dad. Bring your daddy with you. Yes. I promise you. Because my dad, he trains like you guys. I need to get back right.
3:01I need to get back right. The training, the pushing, the failure, the 150 reps, all that. The victim weight. The victim weight. My dad, he's about all of that. So when y 'all are saying that, I know because the training that I started lifting when I I was in the seventh grade. My dad was training me and my brother. So all of this stuff that you're saying makes complete sense, where it's more at the mental. You know what I'm saying? Like you got to push past failure. You know what I'm saying? You think that you're done. You're not done. You got another rep in you. You know what I'm saying? You got another four.
3:29You could push it. So that mental state is everything. So I know I stopped working out a little bit since I retired. So I need to get back in the gym. Debo, chill out. Chill out. I definitely, definitely, definitely need to get back in the gym. So, guys, what's up with the TAC system? I definitely want to come out there. Just let me know a little bit about it. So, it's TACs after every set. 35 push-ups. That's the baseline. Okay? Okay. So, let's say we're doing tricep push-downs, and the count is 200. Okay. On your way to 200, you stop to take a breath. Like, you put the weight down for a second.
4:02That's 20. That's TACs 20. So, on top of your push-ups at the end, the 35 you initially had, now it's 55. Now it's 55. Okay. If you close your eyes, it's 20. Jewelry, Joe. Yeah, jewelry. Oh, yeah. Listen, there's no time to... Don't come in there with no jewelry on. Ain't no reason to have no jewelry on. Ain't no reason to have no jewelry on when I'm in the gym. Yeah, nah. And then whatever else we decide to tax, really. If some bullshit we don't like it, I'm gonna tax it. Unnecessary conversations. Not paying attention to the work, y 'all. Hey, man, they taxing. No, no, for sure. I just, whatever.
4:40Because sometimes it's certain shit, like if I see somebody just acting like they tired, but I can tell they're really not, or if they're moving a certain way for the camera, I'm just taxing all that shit. Taxing everything. How fast can you tell that somebody is going to quit or not ready for the gym? Five minutes. Five minutes. First set. First set. Ticep extensions. Because when you tell somebody to hunt it, then you'd be like... What'd you see? Hold on. Not like that. the first thing that we usually see is when the person says how many left. So say we do tricep extensions and we'll get, and you'll get 43 or let's say 40.
5:20How many I got left? 160. You can see somebody melt. I don't want to intimidate somebody out there. I'm a stickler for the kids. And it's not about intimidation. Then you'll see like, oh shit, 160 a year. And don't stop. because now you got to do your push-ups. You going straight from that exercise, stretch the push-up board. Yeah, yeah. It's no walking around. Don't try to take no bathroom break, stretch out of your own. That's what I'm saying. But people aren't ready for that because you're lactic acid. What if your arms... Dude, Joe, I'm going to tell you right now, like, honestly, it's a point where...
5:58Ain't it a point of failure, though? Can y 'all tell me, bro? I had to jump back into who and what I was that built who I am. that person I was. Like, I had to jump into that. Like, matter of fact, actually, we got a clip where I'm doing pull-ups, bro. Where I'm doing, I'm doing rows. And I grabbed this thing, bro. And I couldn't, I couldn't get this son of a bitch to move, bro, the first time. Y 'all got that clip? Y 'all got that clip? Of me doing them rows? Whatever the compilation is. Yeah! I couldn't lift this the first time, dude. They were like, hey, I can do it. And in my mind, I'm like, I know I can do it.
6:37I just don't want to dig into it. Why don't I want to dig into it? And I'm like, you know what? To hell with it. I got to dig into it. So you go and you grind through it. Like, literally, that's just what you do. It's no other way to get it done other than to be like, you know what? I'm done. Before I even got to that workout, dude, I had said to myself, I had already said to myself, I'm not digging into that. I don't want to go there. I don't want to go there. I done played all this time. I don't want to go there. And they got me into that space where I'm like, you know what? Fuck it. I'm going to go there.
7:15I watched your switch, Phillip. I saw it when you switched. I saw it when it happened. Hey, Joe, listen. No BS, right? I know me. I'm a... I know how to poke the bear. I know. I studied him. I know he has that switch. right? Yes. And the thing about it is his switch is he's almost like Bruce Brennan and the Hulk. He got to learn to control it because he can go way off the deep end. Yeah. I don't give a fuck because I need it. I need you to be that man. Yes. He want to be the Hulk. I'm Frank Castle. We going to tear some shit up. Yeah. I'm ready with you. We was doing the push-ups. Yo, he was cursing.
7:56Fuck that. He looking at me. I said, Heidi, he really fucked up in the head. But I said, Debo, take it there. I said, go back to that dark place. And I looked at Hadi, his eyes. I said, what the fuck? He had a transformation. That's what Joe was like. And I'm like, yeah, but. Like, you got it, big dog? You got my chain? What I'm trying to say is, Joe, he started off very positive. And it was an intimidating, good positive. if you know Debo or you study him you'll see okay yes his facial expressions are intimidating but that's just him right yeah because yes he's a man of of substance he's not no pushover so he can't prepare he was warmed up we know he's already warmed up it's just that he had to tap into that bad man he had to tap into what we call we call it a kill jar right take all the stuff that's happened to you, put it in that jar.
8:56And sometimes you got to take the top off and let it go. And when he did that, the whole workout changed. I said, that's who I wanted. I love the nice guy. I respect the nice guy. I need the bad man today. Go find that man and bring him to me. Found that man doing the push-ups. He found that man doing the T-bar. He cursed us out doing the lap, the rolls. That man's been for us for a while. Play some more of them clips, man. I know we got some more lined up, but Joe, when I say, bro, and I'm looking for him to give me something back and he wasn't giving me nothing back. And that was just pissing me off more.
9:35Like, I want to fight, bro. I want to fight this nigga. I'm like, I want to fight this nigga. Give me something. Like, I love you, bro. I'm like, you motherfucker. I'm like, you motherfucker. Y 'all was working in there. Get the volume played, man. Let it play through. Let's go. There it is. Right there. Right there. Right here. Okay. How do you get right? He ain't allowed to have these straps on. That is. That is. But he got the straps on. You change locations. I'll change what you can do, baby. Let's go. This right here is funny, Joe. Listen, bro. Hey, how do you call it stretching them last, coach?
10:18Huh? You call it stretching them last? They don't look like you're stretching them last, man. I see why they find you.
10:28Yes, sir. Sir, yes, sir. We get on that plane, I'll him up. We get on that plane. For what, bro? Yo, man, they got a banter back and forth that's beautiful, bro. Bro, it's love. Yes. Yes. Who negative here? Yes. He negative. Yes. He got the work done. How he negative, huh? Because he switched the bag. He switched the grip. He switched locations. He's speaking myself that loud. He's switched locations. Cramp. Cramp. My body started cramping. I'm trying to do a pull up. I can't even lift my leg up because it's cramping. Like, I can't even lift my leg. There's a cramp in my hamstring, bruh. Back of my heyday when I played safety in corners.
11:12He over here lying. He's playing safety. Long, long time ago. You started feeling good. You start telling all them lies and shit.
11:31I'm not ashamed. That's overrated. Where the shirt at? Pull the shirt off. I'm 400 weeks out. 400 weeks out. That was good. Is this 6 a.m.? 5 and 2. 6 in the morning, dog. He said 10 and 5. Oh, that's early. That's his fault. He said 10 and 5. Yeah. He did 5. He did 5. He said 10 and 5. That's when they had me. That's what he did. He let me get away when sitting down. You do as I say, not as I do. Because of that attitude. How you all came back like, you did 6? Hey, yo, what spot you on, bro? Bro. So on that one, I guess I was supposed to do 5. I heard 10 and 5. So I did 10. And then the other one, I guess it was supposed to be switched around.
12:24But, you know, hey, man, listen, I had jumped into the bag that they wanted me to get into. Yes. And it was over with for me. And I was going to do whatever the hell we was doing. And if I sat down, then fuck the hell with it. You know what I'm saying?
12:42Hey, guys, I'm going to ask y 'all this. So the Ashton Hall, do y 'all remember the Ashton Hall workout? Yeah. He gets clowned on the internet. What do you think he learned from the workout? Did he do good out there? Yeah, he did great. Ashton came in to work. A lot of people come in to find content. I've noticed that. Some people that come in. We trained like there was no cameras on. We was just getting to the money. He ain't complaining. His security guard jumped in the workout. He was training with us. Yeah, don't bring no cameraman with you because they going to throw that boy in that workout now.
13:16Who would y 'all say surprised y 'all the most? I think Ashton surprises because he didn't have to live up to his persona. Nobody don't give a fuck about him. Nobody don't give a fuck? Yes. We don't give a fuck about no Goyard bag. Like when he first came, because I hate to say it, his reputation precedes him. You think he's arrogant. You think he's soft. You think all this. And it's because he's a well-mannered kid with money that's successful. so if you don't know him he's soft but when you come in that gym hey bro be you fuck these cameras he got a chance to really be around two people that didn't give a fuck about his money we didn't ask him for his information we don't want no sponsorship we can't work we gonna bring the dog out of you what happened was he got a chance to leave his persona at the door fuck that Goyard bag we about to get to it and he got a chance to really earn his keep and i said bro this is a difference when you're working out by yourself you're working out with your personal trainer they're gonna spoon feed you you don't give a fuck you it's men amongst men he had he wasn't dead lifting he came once and started dead lifting and started going crazy because he got an adrenaline rush because in there energy is transferable when i do some shit i'm up next and it just keeps going so for the first time in a long time, he was able to be himself without being judged.
14:45Nobody had their hands out. Nobody disrespected him. He got treated like everybody else. And then once you walk in, it's not about how much money you got. It's not about stature. You can be the fucking... I don't give a fuck who you are. You come in there, you're a regular fucking person just like us. And it just brought symmetry. So he shocked us. I'll say Matt Reif did good. I was going to ask you about Matt Reif. Salutes Matt Wright I didn't expect him Bro he came in the same thing Came in there I didn't know what to expect But he's a dog bro He work hard Some of these people might not be You come in and they be the strongest But for what they can do They max it Like you get their maximum output And that's really what matters He wasn't trolling He wasn't training It's certain people that come Because he had a publicity at a gym And they want to be a part of the gym because they want to go viral.
15:38And for me, I could be home with my family. I could be training for myself. Real talk. That would piss me off. When I got people in there that really want to get to it and not for the cameras, but for them, for their soul, for their body, it's a different type of bonding. Yeah. Okay, yeah. A couple times. Like when we trained with Depot, one of the best parts of the training was the conversation after that. That's the real growth. That's the real... We're going to put in this pain together and we're going to sit down and talk about it. So when we have these kids come in, some of them don't know what to expect.
16:13And so we sit there. We had a couple of kids cry while working out. I think that's a big part of y 'all's involvement or transformation from the actual workout to what comes from it. And like I said, that physiological and psychological aspect of it. and basically what I think you're starting to get into is more of the mental aspect and the mentorship of it and how many guys that you see you know you come in there and you look at them and you say oh he's not gonna be able to do it but how many of those guys you look and you say oh shit he about to be a dog there's gonna be a dog right here and how many of those guys are coming in there and you're just like ice cubes big three season is heating up the most competitive basketball league on earth is on cbs this sunday the two best teams go head-to-head as coach nancy lieberman and Greg Monroe's Dallas Power take on the one-seed Chicago Triplets, led by Coach Dr.

20:40Like Shizzy. Shizzy was a, he's a young LA influencer. I don't know if I'm allowed to say that brand, but he came and the pressure on him to be perfect, the pressure on him to just do all these things and he came in and while we filming, he like, I know y 'all want to break me. Y 'all want to see me fall like every, yo, we not hip. Bro, we gotta make you better. So we actually stopped. I didn't care about the filming and we hugged him and he started crying. I said, bro, let that shit out, bro. We men. We all, shit, nobody hit him. break you bro we all go through shit but no matter what quit i think that was one of the most emotional things and when destroying came he had a baby i said bro if you quit during this fucking workout you expect your wife quit to quit during labor you're gonna quit through a fucking workout but you wouldn't ask her to push your fucking baby out what if she say i don't want to do it and she how the fuck am i gonna make you bro you say things like that it's a reality switch like oh shit for us it's not about breaking nobody we just don't want to see you quit it's the time that i've been wanting like all this shit we gotta go because my mentality is a little bit different i'm a firefighter i can't afford to quit no his mentality is way different this is how he feeds his father his mother how he feeds himself if he quit he goes broke if i quit people die yes sir so we can't afford to quit on no aspect whether it's being an Influencer of fighting fires, you got to fight through that shit.
22:07Ain't no fucking say, hey, chief, give me a water bottle, give me a Gatorade in the middle of a fire, and the lady's on the third floor. Fuck that. I'm going to get her. And if I lose my life in the process, so fucking be it. This is what I signed up for. And that's his same thing. He does this shit to feed his family. So if he pushes to the extreme and something happens, this is what he signed up for. Everybody's not willing to risk their life for their lifestyle. They just want the lifestyle. Yes. Yes. Yes. I think that's a big one right there, man. Everybody's not willing to risk their life for the lifestyle.
22:42Like, it's certain aspects that come along with everything that you do. Assumption to risk is what it's called. And that, a lot, is sacrifice. Rather, it's, you know, time, money, emotion, blood, sweat, tears, whatever it is. And I don't think a lot of people understand that concept. I know you guys got the clothing brand. I see it back there. Till the death, man. How long y 'all been doing that? How y 'all come up with that? That's the TDD. That's been since 2021, too. Around the same time where I started filming. It was just something I always, like my father always used to say to me. Anytime I was going through anything, he's like, well, it's going to be like that till you die.
23:29He's always say that. I'll complain about something going on in school. If it's bad now, it's going to be like that till you die. So from like, I'm going to die to the death, bro. I'm just going to go do this till, you know what I'm saying? I'm going to deal with it. Whatever happens, I'm going to deal with it anyways till I die. That was the whole thing. And then that shit quickly came up in the gym because every set was like, yo, till you die. To the death, bro. To the death. You know? And then it transferred over and we made it a brand, a community, a bunch of like-minded people. I like to look at it less like a clothing brand and more like a community.
23:59it's everybody that everybody that I've never seen some like I don't even want people wearing it if they're not gonna live that type of lifestyle no question no question well at least they invested in themselves to the point where they're getting in the gym every day and like whether you're trying to be a body you gotta start somewhere baby you know hey howdy you I heard you you did a little D1 soccer and you got a degree in what is that civil engineer yes your soccer game where where is it at what you mean where it's at Where's your soccer game in comparison to like a professional, an amateur?
24:34I'm right up there with him. Right up there with him. I believe so. I'm a little heavy now, but I like, no. I know. I seen you had victim weight 171 pounds. Oh. I'm 225 pounds right now. He was. He was 171 pounds, Joe. I seen it on his story. Back there, back there. He was that victim where he was running around there kicking the ball and everything. Okay. He was over. He up there flexing all this other stuff with the little sweet hair and everything, laid back, greased down and everything. You know what I'm saying? That's crazy, Deebo. He's different now. That's crazy. Now, I got a hold of him.
25:12Yo, Joe, look. Joe, look. When you come, it's going to be me and you versus the two old heads, bro. Yes. Oh, it's over with. Joe ain't got it. Let me tell you what I got, bro. We ain't talking about the weights. The drive and the push, you're going to see me go to another level. That's what I'm saying. Yes, I'm going to go until I can't. I'm going to go all over. Yo, let me ask you a question. What's stopping you from training? Nothing. Thank you. I'm losing it on. No, answer the question. Myself. He wouldn't start her. Myself. Myself. It's nothing. Let me ask you a question. I can start back training.
25:54This is real talk, right? Speak about sacrifice. God has blessed you to play in a national football league. Something that I dreamed I could have went to, right? And I was in high school and college, but I kind of went on vacations to other colleges. That kind of derailed that story. What I'm trying to say is God has also blessed you with a podcast, right? Yes. With that being said, are you comfortable enough not to hit the gym? No. So what the fuck are you waiting for, Joe? And I know I'm bullshit. I'm going to do it right after this. I'm starting back today. I promise you today, real talk. Joe, don't fuck out of me, Joe.
26:33You heard me because what I'm not going to do is... Hey, nigga, don't promise yourself, bro. What's up, Joe? Because what I'm not going to do is... What I'm not going to do is... What I'm not going to do is... I'm not going to lie to Unk. Because we got grown man, grown man conversations. And I know I got a gym downstairs that I know I can... He got one in his house, bro. I'm making an excuse. It's an excuse. It's nothing but excuses. It's nothing but excuses. I was being lazy. I'm back out today. All right, so who? When you do it, record it. I'm going to record it, for sure. Every morning. Story.
26:59Today. I'm back in the gym. Today. Yeah, no, I'm going to check. I'm going to get you a... No, Debo, give me the numbers. I'll put us all on the phone. On the cell phone. I'll put us all on the phone. On the cell phone. Oh, yeah. Now, Debo, you done messed up now. What I done messed up with? What I done messed up with? You think I ever stopped? You think I ever stopped? I know. Now I got to catch up. It's all good. You think I ever stopped? Stop playing with me. You know what make it so bad, Joe? You know what make it so bad? Come on, man. He acting like I ain't got... I'm only working out about five days a week.
27:28I ain't even at seven. All right. But for real, for real, I'm bringing my pops out there, too. I'm bringing pops to the gym. I'm bringing pops to the gym. Bring pops to the gym because that's the person that can actually work out. That ain't victim weight. I believe in you, Joe. I believe in you. Nah, bro, I hear they be saying the same shit to me. I don't like... Yo, there's a clip. Maybe you can pull the clip up. But, Joe, I was at the Fanatics Fest in New York minding my motherfucking business, okay? Yes. And moving peacefully. I turned my head around the corner. I see people looking at me with this face.

28:04This face. You know the face? Yes. Yes. I was nervous. I was like, oh, shit, I was about to turn back out. I'm going to holler at you. But he caught me. He locked my eye. I had to go up to him. And he started pressing me, bro. I did not press him. I didn't even walk up to him. He walked in. of the people you love. Deebo, you was sizing them up. I was right next to you. I might have took a couple steps. I'm just saying. I didn't press him. I was asking questions. You said if you ain't getting that Chuck's message. I don't got... Did I ask a question? I didn't... I asked a question, right, Unk? Come on, Unk.
28:42What you doing, bro? It was... You know what? I cannot tell a lie. It was a... I'm starting to sweat because I'm nervous, too. It was a question. The question was asked, Sir Debo, but it was a little on the aggressive light. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. I was just trying to find out. I was scared, bro. I was just trying to find out. I'm just going the other way. I said, I said, I said, hey, howdy, you ain't getting my text message. You did not say it like that. You lying. Wow. I have the video. We got a clip. Sir Debo, you texted me to catch you back. Can y 'all pull the clip he's talking about?
29:22But I'm just telling y 'all, I said, what I said was, hey, you ain't getting my text message. I don't know exactly the tone in which I said it because my memory is bad. I had concussions. Oh, if you asking that, the tone was messed. The tone was fucked up, Debo. The tone was aggressive. Had to be. Oh, no. I know. Debo. It could have been. Probably. Hey, bruh. I see it now. A thousand percent. Listen, it might have been aggressive. Because I've been told that sometimes when I say things, it sounds aggressive. I'm not... I might have been trying to make that one aggressive. I'm not going to lie.
30:02You're a thousand percent. When I get back into it and I think about it, because I was feeling some type of way and I just seen him and he laughing and joking, he slapping hands and all that shit with everybody and all that. And he just going to make like, I ain't texting. Nigga, you ain't seeing my text. That's how he said it. That's how we said it, Joe. I know that. Hey, Joe, it didn't stop there. So now we in the bar, we feeling like little mini celebrities because we ain't got no money, Joe. Everybody they got on jewelry, they got alcohol. I'm asking for complimentary glasses of water. And we're playing around and people like this.
30:38And I'm like, yo, he followed us in the bar? What you doing? Bro, they lying, bro. They said, yo, I just got a water with some ice. Yes. Joe, you was there, Joe. We was walking through, man. And I just happened to stop by the - Happened to see him again. Had to check on the tail, man. I was like, is you okay? I'm like, no. I can't. Hey, Unk, you really looked like you was okay. Ain't that right, Heidi? Oh, wow. Yeah. Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah. How's it going on? It was a very positive event and environment. Great event. We were in the 40s? We were in the 40s? Bruh, I'm telling you, man. When that boy Wimby came through there, man, he made me feel disrespectful.
31:26Oh, my goodness. I don't like looking up at nobody like that. He was... I'm like, man. I might want to just... What'd you say? Because that was our first time there. Did y 'all enjoy it? That was our first time there. I'm going to tell you this. It was my first time there, and I don't really drink like that no more. And I'm older. I don't know. Maybe because I wasn't drinking or maybe because I'm just not into that no more. You just standing around. Yeah, that's how it was. Y 'all getting old, that's what it is. Yeah, it was a lot of moving parts. That's a fact. That was for me. There it is. Oh, wait.
32:09We said... We said, uh... Oh, I drink. Yep. I drink. You need a little something to do. You sneaking pay. I had to get through it. I was minding my beer. He said 25. Give a f*** what he did and what he said. Do as I say, not as I do. Y 'all want to bring up all the aggressive clips. That's crazy. Oh, you put chalk on. He is. He put chalk on. I apologize. He put chalk on. Hey. How do you put chalk on? I'm putting chalk on. That's the league. That's the league. That's the league. Oh yeah, Kyle. Get your 35. Drop down.
32:45Yes, sir. No, the chalk is allowed. The straps usually aren't. Oh, the chalk is allowed. Okay, okay, okay. My bad. Yo, Joe, it was four places and some chains on the bar. They want Barbo Rolls. I just woke up eight minutes ago, bro. Like, you know me, I put the straps on. You making excuses? I put the straps on. Look, that's why me and you, we gonna work out perfectly. We gonna get right. Listen, Joe, ain't no straps for you, Joe. Come on. I'm going to wake up early in the morning Hey listen man we're going to let you do all that Okay The push ups is going to get you I'm telling you that right now I'm locked in On top of that Joe so if you're doing your push ups Oh yeah Listen to this shit If you stop in the middle of your push ups Or put your knee on the floor It's another 20 On top of the 35 or the 55 So that number add up fast before you know it, you might be at 250, 260 and shit looking bad.
33:42All push-ups and we don't close the gym till you finish. All right. Joe, and you can't touch the ground. How long does the workout normally take? Till somebody's die. See, that's what I'm saying. That's the ones, that sounds like my failure. Give me a number. No numbers, Joe. There's no numbers. You do get a number. I take it back. You get a number at the beginning. but that number can go up. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. That's them workouts. I'm here for it. I'm here for it. But there's no ceiling. They just can keep moving the ceiling and you're just going to have to keep going.
34:19No. The ceiling is set as soon as they tell you, we got 200. We got 35. We got, even it breaks down to 10s and 5s like we were doing. But if you trick it off, it's a tax. Okay. No, that's what gets you. that's what gets you. The taxes. No, Joe. Ice Cube's Big 3 season is heating up. The most competitive basketball league on earth is on CBS this Sunday. That 235 could turn into 350 with a couple little long breaths and a little break in between. That's on you. That's on you. You determine. I got to be on pace.
37:58I got to be... Joe, Joe, to hell with the pace. Control your controllables. Joe, you're not going to... Listen to me. Come in there with your mind ready that I am going to go through hell. I'm going to have to push through it. Don't come in there like I did where I'm like, you know what? I'm going to come in here. I'm going to do what I'm going to do. I am not digging into my bag. No. Bro, that shit worked for like the first three sets. Nope. That was it. I already know what time it is, Debo. I already know what time it's back. So I'm going to already come in there. Listen, they taxing the hell out of me without telling me about the tax.
38:37Knee hit the ground. That's the tax. What you mean the tax? 25, 20 most, huh? Yeah. Knee touch the ground. Bro, they done taxed me so tough. I said, shit, you can tax me all you want to. You can't get blood out of turnip, baby. I'm like, shit, y 'all done. See, D-Boat. You can tax all you want. I ain't got no money. I'm like, bro, that's where I was at, bro. Yeah, he had the color water. The color water, hydration drink, water. Hydration, Joe. Hydration is supreme, Joe. Got to. Got to. Hey, Joe. I know you sweating, man. While we training, ain't no time for us to go get a little water break. We do that after.
39:15We just go. Listen, you go kill yourself. I already did a whole hour of cardio, and you want to tell me I can't drink? Man, kiss my black ass. I'm going to get me something to drink. Nah, but you know what it is? You know what it is? Especially even with the influencers. Like, you come in there. What really happens is you find out about yourself, bro. Nah. You really learn about yourself. Because everybody's coming like, oh, yeah, it's just a workout. I could do this. No, it's not. Bro. Everybody's on some... I knew looking at it, it wasn't just a workout. Yeah. I said, my kids, I said, bro, I'm not...
39:53Dude, no. I'm not... Bro, I ain't got that in me no more. I don't even desire it like that, son. I done lost... I'm telling them, I done lost every competitive bone in my body. I ain't got nothing left. Listen, I'm telling them everything. Dad ain't going there. Bro, I'm telling you this, Debo, everything... Listen, man, I'm fucking around and pulled that shit out. And I'm like, God damn it, now I got to go there. with y 'all doing the workouts with the people, that makes every difference. Because you can't tell somebody what to do, you know what I'm saying? But you showing me, like, man, I'm hitting these two, I got 100.
40:26So you got to go hit the 100. So having y 'all do the workouts. 17-year-old kids in there doing it too. People will come in and our 17-year-old kids will drop them off. Drop them smooth off. Facts. Right off the jump. Right off the jump. They'll jump it and they can't understand it. And I'm like, yo, Yo, he's 17, he's 18, but they've been doing this. They've been doing this. And our condition for them was, okay, I want y 'all to do something besides this. So now they go to football camp for Montclair State August 11th. We got two of them going. I'm a part of my nephew, AJ. And that's the type of stuff we do.
41:03It's about you growing with us so we can help you to grow. Go. Whatever you need. We support it. If it's positive, we're going to support it. because it's this is how I look at life and how do you tell you when you leave you can't take none of this shit with you so certain things you gotta give away and that's knowledge motivation and sometimes time because you can't you wanna be remembered by good deeds and you wanna be represented by the good deeds that you did people keep it going so that's what we try to give back to the community all the time and it's we try to give these learning lessons these life lessons like once you leave here with us take that with you for the rest of your life.
41:45So that's just that's what we try to do. Hey, who and what inspired you? Me? Yeah. I don't understand. I grew up like in the 80s so I'm older so all we had was Rambo movies. What the fuck is so funny?
42:05My bad, fellas. He's going to get fun. Before the eyeballs came out. No, but it was a little bit different. Like all we had was Rocky Go ahead bro tell the story Why you sliding away? Talks about you So like Being in shape it was everything was about Being in shape and of course I played Sports and for me it was just It was something that Was different I never did drugs I never I never I hardly ever drank I just wanted to always Be in shape so you got a figure Like Rambo and all that everybody was Had a nice physique and then I started going to Diamond Gym when I was 16. I felt like real life superheroes.
42:47Like, oh, shit. Yeah. Because even when I was doing good and doing bad, I always stayed in the gym. And then I felt as I got older, it was therapy for me mentally. Terrible. Like, there's certain things. If you tell your girl, she'll use it against you. You tell your homeboy, he'll think you weak. You can't tell mommy because she going to tell daddy. Like, so certain things as a man, you got to deal with it internally. and I went to the gym and I used to always say, okay, I'm going to turn my pain into power. Whatever I go through mentally and physically, I'm going to take that out on myself in the gym and I'm going to make me a better person.
43:21So that's just, it's just, my inspiration was like looking at Ronnie Coleman, Dorian Yates, of course, C.T. Fletcher. And honestly speaking, and this is not no bullshit because Deebo is on the live, but watching him transition from football to getting in shape at his age because we kind of the same age. He's still playing with 500. He's still doing them D-boat things, listening to Machiavelli, throwing the weights. I find inspiration in that. And I'm like, yo, if he can do it, I can do it. Because you never know who's paying attention to you for the good, not just for the bad. Oh, he got a bad attitude.
44:03He was getting fine. Fuck all that. He's an athlete. You understand? saying, y 'all mad because y 'all can't control him. Man's in shape, so you want to piss test him every week. I pay attention to everything because you can control fear. And this man is invested in his body, but he made his body a weapon. Just because he made his body a weapon does not mean he's a threat. That was my biggest thing. And I watched him put the work in. And then go to the gym with him. He's training at 4 o 'clock in the morning. I said, honey, 4 o 'clock in the morning. 30 or something like that so for me I'll just say like my biggest inspiration was to be healthy because in my hood everybody's high it's a lot of junkies it's a lot of you know it's a lot of bad stuff going on so that was my positive away from the hood I got you I always wanted to be different from everybody what about you Hattie my inspiration yeah honestly bro was always just like my whole thing was creating a better situation for my family it was just bad so my thing was i was trying to play i was playing soccer that was my whole thing i was gonna go pro since a young kid i'm training like i was i would go to training in the morning and then midday i had practice with the team and then at night i was going to the gym by myself i did that my whole life yeah i told my mco and then bro all i knew the reason why I got so heavy in the gym was because all I knew was like my physical output like I related physical output how hard I work can get me here so when I lost that and I wasn't playing anymore I was like all I knew how to do was physical I didn't know how to like I'm trying to get to it and make this better for my family but all I know is physical all I know like that type of work so I just put all that into the gym bro and like that's why when he told y 'all the story like he Like he called me pretty boy and then I asked him to work out.
46:03No, he called me pretty boy to the point where I'm really, I'm really going through it because of my knee. I was depressed. I wanted to fuck him up. That's why I said, yo, I hit up my man. I said, yo, tell the old man, keep calling me pretty boy. I want to work out. We're going to see how pretty I am.
46:20That's a fact. That's a fact. That's the truth. Because he was doing it every day on my bad days. You know, you're having a bad day. Yeah. He's still calling you pretty boy. I'm like, bro. No, no, no, no. No, not just pretty boy. rib shot. Like pretty boy. And he walk away and you're getting like, like now I feel manhood being tested. You know? Because it's true. How you coming back from that injury, man? How you told me he did that to you? Yes. All right. I'm going to answer both parts. Yes, it's true. I did it. I did it. I hit him a lot. A lot. And now, yeah, I actually, the funny thing is I tore my, my pep muscle in 2003 at Montclair State benching.
46:59and then I kind of re-aggravated the tendon. Then the tendon popped off. So I met a good doctor at Summer Health, Dr. Vasquez, and he said I could repair it. I'm like, bro, it's been tore since 2003. So it was 20 years of scar tissue. And the tendon had shriveled up. So they repaired it. They brought it over. So I'm on my ninth week post-op. I've been out the sling for two weeks. I'm slowly getting back in the gym. I can't go full throttle because they said it's going to be like six months. But I explain to the doctor I need it. I cannot, even if I go to the gym to walk on a treadmill or go to the gym and watch them train, I need it.
47:34It's a part of who I am. And I don't think people understand. And I know as athletes, when you get hurt, watching people on the field play, and then you guys, the thing about you guys getting hurt, money's involved. Your career's involved. Your stats is involved. But it's also a mental toll on getting hurt. And people don't see that aspect of me. I can't be in the gym. I'm losing weight. I'm losing strength. It just played with me mentally until I got my rap around it. And honestly speaking, I had to – you said something to us when we was in Pittsburgh. And also I spoke to you when we was texting, DMing, be patient.
48:12So I had to look myself in the face and be like, damn, if I'm telling all these kids to be patient, I got to be patient. So I was patient for six weeks. God willing, I was able to get out of the sling. So now I'm starting to rehab back and get back to it. But just doing something little means a lot to me because I'm staying active. So now it's going to be the challenge of being better than where I was at. That's a buildup. That's a process. Everything takes time. Anything worth having takes time. And it takes a little bit of pain and perseverance to get to it. It's different for us. You know, most people, bro, most people, honestly, they get like FOMO.
48:52They feel like they're missing out when people are going out to the club here or going there. They feel like they want to be there. Like, he really, like, and I'm the same way. You get formal when I see people at the gym and I'm not there. I'm like, fuck. Yo, they in there working and I'm over here. Like, I'm on my couch. I get up and I'm going. Uncle used to go live every day at Diamond. Sometimes he wouldn't even call me. I see him go live. I'm like, I'm going to be there. All right, fuck it. I get up, put my shoes on, and I go. You know what I'm saying? And that's what I mean. It's a different circle that you surround yourself with and people that you're around Yes.
49:23It could be it could be that it could be left field. I want to go to the club. I want to go here. I want to go to everybody out or it could be this. You know what I'm saying? You choose what you kind of fall in love with. Yeah, definitely. It's the company you keep will speak to the person that you are and the things that you do and what it is that you want to do, aspire to be and everything else. So, you know, what we want to do really, though, is we done came to that mark. And we want to thank you guys, man, for coming on. We appreciate you. For sure. We're going to set up this workout for you, Joe, myself.
50:08And my father. And Hottie with your father there. That way, it's three old heads. Yes. And your daddy my age, too. Yeah. Hey, if y 'all ain't know, Joe's young. Pops was the same age. He work out four o 'clock in the morning. He ain't young. He ain't young as Hottie. Hottie the youngest one in here. I think Hottie, like, what is he, 27, 28, something like that, young man? How old are you, son? 27. I got kids your age, son. Me and Hottie. 27 Hottie. I'm 37. I got kids Hottie age, okay? So I might bring my son with me, too, just in case, you know what I'm saying? And matter of fact, we're going to set it up so we can do it here again, because I like getting up early.
50:45I don't know about all that other stuff y 'all do. I like getting up early and I like having certain things. I got to get my treadmill. I got to be able to walk. I got to be able to... So what we don't do is let you, Joe, feel what it's like to go through this. And I'm going to already remember what it's like. And I'm going to be ready for it this time. I know. We're doing it for sure. I'm going to the dark place before I even get there. Like, I'm going, I'm going, I'm going, I'm going ahead. I'm going to switch it over. I'm going to try and switch it over. I'm saying that right now, but, you know, I'm saying that right now, but the switch over actually, it takes a little bit of pushing.
51:29You know what I'm saying? We'll get there fast. No, I know what pisses you off now. I've already learned you. There we go. We're going to get right to that in the first three minutes. We're going to get right to the bullshit.
