In short

Debo and Joe react to the Steelers’ loss to the Bengals, focusing on Aaron Rodgers’ two interceptions, the defense’s breakdowns (run defense, coverage miscommunications, and giving Jamar Chase/Higgins big plays), and Joe Flacco’s efficient, on-time passing after being traded to Cincinnati.

Guests

No guest interviewees. Hosts are James “Debo” Harrison and Joe Hayden.

Guest backgrounds

Not applicable (no guests). The episode is hosted by Debo and Joe.

Key claims

  • Rodgers’ interceptions shifted momentum; one was described as an unnecessary throw into coverage.
  • Bengals repeatedly exploited Steelers coverage (busted assignments, zones not matched, and players running “scot-free”).
  • Steelers struggled to stop the run, allowing explosive gains to the second level.
  • Flacco looked “on time” and pinpoint accurate, especially on third-and-long conversions.
  • The Steelers’ defense only made key stops late; without turnovers/pressure earlier, they’d have lost.

Notable examples

  • Jamar Chase big plays (including a late sequence where coverage leverage failed).
  • Tee Higgins 29-yard touchdown on a slant.
  • DJ Turner II’s interception/turnover at the goal line (knee down, ball control).
  • Late-game: Bengals’ final drive with Chase repeatedly targeted as time ran out.

2:24Nah, honestly, I think... Hold up, bro. I think the... Yo, water just broke through my door right here, bro. I don't know what is going on, bro. Yo, I think we're going to have to cancel this, bro. We got to pick this up on Monday. I can't see or hear anything, bro. We got to pick this up on Monday.

2:39James Harrison:You good. You good. I see you, Debo. You good. You right on the screen. You good to go. We're here. We got to do today. We got to talk about... We got to talk about what happened. You started to... Yeah, you trying to malfunction. shit yourself. I was looking for my glasses. You over there trying to fuck up the system because you don't want to talk about the Steelers game. I was trying to get my glasses. That's what I... Okay, we back. Okay, yeah, we here. We here today, Ibo. We here. We got to talk about it. We got to talk about it. Did you see the game? Did you see the game? Yeah, yeah. I saw the game.

3:08James Harrison:Did you watch the whole entire thing? I watched the whole entire thing. You know what? Yeah. Okay, okay, listen. The first drive. Listen, it was okay, but I was a little nervous because we got behind the chains with the little false start at the first drive. Third and 11. And then he hit my guy, DK, because they put him one-on-one. That was 39 right there. Great, great. You got to start early. Jalen came through. It was like three carries. I think he got about 20 yards or so. And then we get that good, nice little 10-yard touchdown, baby. You open it up. You're giving him all that time. All that time.

3:51It was a lot of time. 7-0, dude. 7-0. Bengals' offense come out there. We go ahead, jump on their net. Second down, we get that good sack on them. And then they're able to convert on the third and fourth team for 18 yards. Joe Flacco was throwing the ball on time. Yeah, he was throwing the ball on real, real, real on time. But we, you know, We hold them up. You know, we do what we got to do. We make them punt. One of only, what, three times that we made them punt. Anyway. Offense comes out. Then what happened, bro? What happened, bro, when the offense came out, bro? The Steelers offense? Yes.

4:34James Harrison:Well, we punted. Well, we punted. The second time we came out, bro. Oh, the second time we came out, we punted. And the third time we came out, we got a field goal. nah dude not his first pick then no no no no no no no A-Rod at the beginning of the game bro we started good the first two the first at the first quarter it was like 10-0 you know what I'm saying because we went down the first drive obviously we scored then we stopped the Bengals on their first two drives and then our next drive we got a field goal you know what I'm saying And that's when it was 10-0, Debo. That's when everything for the Steelers was looking good.

5:20James Harrison:Everything was fine. No, it wasn't looking good because the Bengals' offense came immediately out after we went up 10-0. Yes, that's when it hit the fan, Debo. We cracked this in the head for 27 yards off Rick. Either the linebacker or the D lineman was out of the position, didn't get to where they needed to get to, dude. And then on the third and 10, they get 15. like, come on. Get a touchdown call back and still play the next play and hit the same hit Chase again. We 10-7. Jamar Chase, fade ball. It was a lot of... It was too much Chase. We're going to get to that anyway. We're going to go play-by-play rundown.

6:03James Harrison:Then we're going to give them the end of what we really think happens. Now that's where they come back out. Yes. And the Bengals... go and not the Bengals, the Steelers. The Steelers. And that's when we come out and throw that piss. The Steelers come out when we throw a pick. Like, I understand trying to, like, get the ball to him, but, like, on that one, I don't. That's not a good play right there, D-Bone. No. That's not a good pick. It was, the corner was on top, obviously, and the safety was leaning over that way. He was looking at the safety. Safety was running over there. It was either the corner or the safety was going to pick it.

6:40James Harrison:He didn't need to throw that ball. Like, that was just an unnecessary turnover that we had, for sure. That was a bad play for Rodgers on our part. Like, when I was looking at it, I'm like, now the momentum is starting to shift. Yes. You know what I'm saying? The momentum is starting to shift. And they get the ball back, and they crack us in the head for 37 on the first play. Brown. Yes. I'm at a loss. Get a P.I., and then here come the other receiver, Higgins. Higgins. 29-yard touchdown. And he runs the slant straight through the defense. Like, it's wide open. And that's when Joe Flacco throwing it on time.

7:16James Harrison:Boom, hits him. He cuts up in between four of the Steelers defenders. Like, it just, it looked, Flacco was throwing it on time. And then that's when they started picking our defense apart, brother. Zones, mans, running, everything. And then immediately I'm thinking, yeah, we got a chance. The offense is still moving the ball. We got, I ain't going to lie, dude. Dude made a play on that ball. Oh, my goodness. DJ Turner II, that play was amazing. Like, being able to play through the hands, discipline, didn't interfere. Got the ball, got it down. And got the knee down. Yeah, got down. Don't forget he got down.

7:55James Harrison:He had to get down. Like, one knee is two feet. He got that knee down and had control of the ball. It was no, DK was trying to rough it back. No, they was like, is the ball wobbling, moving? I'm like, no, it's not. That's a pick. That's a pick right there. Yeah, that's a pick. Well, at least that time we was able to hold him to a field goal. So, yes, it's 10 to 17. You know, ain't feeling too bad. Still feeling like, you know, we could possibly do something, get it going. And we don't. We don't. The Bengals offense comes out in the third quarter and they convert a fourth down. I'm thinking, yo, the best we could hope for is a field goal.

8:35And we get that. We get the field goal. We get the field goal. We hold them to a field goal. It's 20-10.

8:41James Harrison:Ramsey made a good stop on T. Higgins in the end zone to be able to stop a touchdown on there. So definitely defense stood up there, got a field goal. Cool. So we're looking at 20-10. Yes. Offense come out there, and we finally started getting something going. We get a couple runs from Warren. You know, Rodgers starts making some good throws. We're a little behind the chains on that third down, though. What was it, third, 19, 20, something like that? 18, something like that. Friar move come through for us. Down ball to Friar move. Friar move balled out. 17-20, man. I'm feeling good now. I'm thinking, yo, all right, now the defense go wake up.

9:21You know what happened? This old man, Flacco, that the Browns should have never gave to the Bengals, goes and does a whole drive, just nothing but eight passes, dude. Down the field, 67 yards, touchdown.

9:37James Harrison:Yes. And during that drive, the big play I liked on the third down that he converted, it was third and four, when Slay, they came down, and they was basically in a zero coverage, just doubling Jamar Chase. Safety came, dropped down, left them zero coverage with that. And he just, Flacco was throwing it on time, looking at the players, man to man, okay, boom, like dropped it right over his head on that deep third and fours to convert there for them to be able to get down there to score. So I'm like, Flacco was looking good. Defense was not making those plays that they needed to make. Oh, no question.

10:10But again, dude, it's not over. It's not over. It's not over. We go ahead and punch 137. Jalen going bust 137 on the next drive, the very first play. You know, Rodgers finishes it all. Touchdown, hey, it's 24 to 27. I'm like, yo, we got real shot, real chance here. Like, defense go hold. You know what I'm saying? Yep. Flacco. And the dude, the running back Brown. Dude, even with a holding penalty, dude, putting up, we still gave him a field goal.

10:54James Harrison:Yes. Like, I'm upset. But, I mean, it was a lot of Mr. Simons there, though. Like, when the tight end caught that pass and got like a 38-yard completion, like, that's just Mr. Simons. You know what I'm saying? Dudes running scot-free down the field. They was able to hold him, but you just can't do that. Like, dudes running wide open. I can see if they can test it. But running scot-free, that's Mr. Simons. No question, man. Then the offense, they come back out. They do a three out. And I'm like, yo, no, this ain't going. I'm like, yo, please, defense, just hold them just one time. Just give me one time, and they do it, right?

11:32They do. I'm like, cool. My man Swann came out, got his sack. I'm like, we got this. And, dude, we go and get a big play. This is the only time I'm like, we done gave them a big play. We done got a big play. We done scored a touchdown. It's great. We're a 31 now, 31 to 30. 31 to 30. But it's too much time left for Joe Flacco.

11:58James Harrison:Two minutes, 21 seconds, Debo. And this is when all the game, this is for all the marbles. Jamar Chase, Jamar Chase, Jamar Chase. I just got tired of hearing his name. And look, this is what I'm thinking. It's looking like we're leaning back and a lot of those are in like zones. Get out there. If you got to punch number two and get underneath number one, because we got Joey Porter and them like bailing out, and Jamar Chase is running those comebacks and curls like right to the sideline. I'm not understanding it. Yo, I think what it came down to, dude, they started running the rock. We started putting eight and nine in the box.

12:36Joe started doing run pass options, dumping it off. So we're trying to get him out the box. And like when you got him in the box like that and he, yo, they going manned up? Come on, stop, man. You talking about Jamar Chase and Higgins?

12:49James Harrison:But the thing that was getting me though, bro, was we were running, if we were running man coverage, we got to still, at the end of the day, try to still protect the sideline. Like, he's running deep benches, like 12 and outs. You know what I'm saying? Getting the ball and being able to get to the sideline. Like, we should be able to at least trap those. A couple of plays I was looking with Jamar Chase, random ones with Jalen Ramsey, was running across in motion with him. And he would run the out route. I would want Slate, outside corner. Like, if you get outside release, look back in. He's in the slot.

13:21James Harrison:Jamar Chase running out. steal that. You know what I'm saying? Like, have a safety over the top. You can go steal that. So, it was just not good plays. And then the last play with the team. Well, the one that the safety tried to steal ended up being a touchdown. You talking for who? For this.

13:41James Harrison:For the Bengals. Oh, yeah. No, no, no. They was tripping. That safety, he needs to just be backing over the top. I'm talking about what he was doing on that one. He was wild. Now we got to use our timeouts. We can't stop them. Versus our field goal. It was the great. Higgins caught the fade ball, too, and got down and didn't go score. Didn't go score. Get the ball back. IQ up there. IQ on 1 ,000. He's thinking about winning. He's trying to win. Yeah, dude. Yeah, it was not. It was not a pretty performance by us. at all we have problems we have defensive problems specifically run and pass game we ain't face nobody dude we done played the jets who we beat but it was a 19th ranked offense dude they still gave up 182 yard rushes that's like what 4-7 a pop the running back had five and some change a pop and Justin he ain't had that much but he was efficient 16 to 22 for 218 we lost to Seattle who is a 10th ranked offense we gave up what four yards of rush that game running back Walker that boy had eight yards a pop Arnold almost had 300 like we had two turnovers but we we gave up two We traded.

15:18I think both got 10 points. We broke even there, lost the game. And then New England, 26 in the rush. They got 119 yards rushing, which ain't a lot. It ain't a lot. Four yards a rush or so. Their biggest rusher was the quarterback. I think he had maybe six a run. But they also had 207 yards passed. The only reason we won that game is we got five turnovers. They either stopped themselves from scoring. Or we stopped them from scoring and ended up getting points from it. Plus, the quarterback was sacked five times and in key situations. So that win right there, we wouldn't have got it without all of the turnovers and the pressure.

16:02Minnesota, again, 25th, 21st in the rush. 70 yards ain't bad. Not bad at all. Dude, we gave up. We gave up. 350, passing. We got two turnovers that helped us. One field goal got blocked. The other one we scored a touchdown on. But again, we got six sacks. We got pressure on him. You know what I'm saying? So we made them. They wasn't doing everything great. But if it wasn't for the fact that we got the turnovers, we'd have lost out. And the Browns, dude, 28. They 28 on everything, man. 65 yards rushing. but they tried to go in there and use a quarterback to pass the ball 52 times. You get him sacked and pressured.

16:49That was more the Browns. That's more, like, yes. And then we get to the Bengals, bro. Dead last in the rush, 31st total. And we give up 142 yards. Dude, rushing six a tote. And the running back, Brown, 11 for 108. Almost 10 yards or two. On top of we turned the ball over twice, they got 10 points off of that. And Flacco busts us for almost 350. We have a huge defense problem. I'm looking at the talent we have. We have the talent, right? I'm thinking we have the talent. So what is going wrong, bro? Like what you tell me what is going wrong here?

17:40James Harrison:This is what it is, Debo. A lot of that bend but don't break stuff. We do that all the time. But there's too many times when people are running scot-free. There's too many times where somebody has busted coverages or people are just running wide open. You know what I'm saying? So that's what on the secondary part. I'm speaking on the secondary first. On the secondary, there's too many miscommunications. There's too many people running scot-free on a lot of these things. And then there's zones. If you're running the zone, you got to get to your zone. People need to be in the faces that they're supposed to be.

18:10James Harrison:When we're bailing out on Jamar Chase and letting him just run these corner routes, you have to keep eyes on him. Leverage. You know what I'm saying? And then losing your one-on-ones. There were opportunities where, I love Jalen Ramsey, but when you're playing on the dude and you're outside and you're having them dudes, those are plays that they made and we didn't. You know what I'm saying? Those plays that they're making that we're not making are hurting that defense. Then, at the same time, when you go to the running game, these are explosive plays. These dudes were running. Every time they toted it, they were getting to the second level.

18:40James Harrison:That's on your defensive line. That's on the front line, dude. That's on your front line. That's on the front line. Then you need to get some pushback and get him contacted. He needs to be getting contacted before he gets to the second level. Like, secondary making tackles, that's because somebody else in the front is messing up. It's a whole lot easier to look at Jalen Ramsey, to look at Darius Slay, to look at the secondary, because those dudes are out there on the island playing versus ballers. So if nobody's getting to them, you're going to be able to see their mistakes a whole lot more glaring because, you know what I'm saying, they're out there on the forefront.

19:10James Harrison:When they're dudes running 11 carries for 108, why is he getting to the second level each time? There's people getting forced in there. If you're able to be that successful in the run, now you have to try and stop the run, which opens up your opportunities for easier, deeper passes because now you've got to bring more people down into the box to try and stop the run. When you can't stop the run, it opens up the pass, period. And the only reason we've been able to win is Aaron went buku against the Jets. Okay? They did. That's why we won that. The defense, not even the defense, the Patriots turned everything over.

19:53Minnesota couldn't protect. and the Browns, they had a rookie quarterback.

20:01James Harrison:Yeah. Like, we done spent all this paper over here on defense. And don't get me wrong, like I said, the offense, yes, they have some issues too. Hey, I'm Hoda Kotb, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotb. Okay, if you know me, you know this. I'm always searching for inspiration, for support, and useful tools to help maximize joy. 23:12It's issues on the offense side. But we didn't spend all that money over there on the offense. Yeah, we got DK, but yeah, we can't effectively run the ball. Like, we got to do dunk game alternatives for running the ball because our offensive line isn't effective enough. We got 50-11 tight ends that we just started using last week.

23:33James Harrison:We scored 31 points, Debo. The Steelers are supposed to win. Yes. That's all I'm saying. Yes, it's feast or famine around here, and it starts with turnovers and pressure. rather we get them or it's self-inflicted and then we ended up picking them up because of the other team they do fumble the rock how many times in doing it what three two three four i don't know it looked like a replay he kept coughing the ball it was three about three yeah i don't i don't even know like we have to get this fixed on the defensive side you can plainly see where like you said guys are missing assignments are we are we are we not understanding what we're doing are Are we not explaining this well enough?

24:14Is this a coaching issue? Or is it just playing out you're just getting beat and you can't get to the spot that you need to be at and be able to do the job that you need to do?

24:28James Harrison:It's everything, I believe, dude. I think when you see, and it's a lot of those, because I was watching plays, brother. When they had to drive the ball down on the last drive to go score and Jamar Chase ran the under route. And the text message that you sent, he was fifth. Like, nobody was in the screen. And that's Jamar Chase running the underneath route for 18 yards when all they have to do is get down in field goal range to win the game. Like, that's just – how is he doing that? And that's accountability. Like, it looked like it's three – it looked like a fire zone coverage. And that means there had to be maybe – I mean, you can see – what's his name?

25:10James Harrison:Linebacker Six. Yeah, it's six. But I'm saying we're not in the locker room exactly, but it's either you got a fire. No, I'm saying you can see he was confused. He's pointing, trying to tell somebody to go here, go there, and nobody moves to it when he motions. I'm like. But yeah, long story short, they need to get in the tape room, the film room, because those things don't need to be happening. People that ended up running scot-free, like you said, Jamar Chase, there's no reason he should be running down the field, wide open for an 18-yard game when y 'all are trying to prevent a field goal to win the game.

25:45Yeah, and like, immediately, dude, I'm like 31 to 30. I'm like two minutes and change. Not liking it. Yo, and dude jumps up. Like, you go, come on, man. This young stuff that you're doing to a 41-year-old quarterback, you go jump on this man's back and tackle him. You know you could have broke a hip. like this he's a quarterback he he's fragile you can't you can't go doing all that celebrating and celebrate now it looks real bad because we couldn't hold nothing dude we're gonna be in trouble trouble like we haven't faced a top half offense i take it back new england was 16 but it took five turnovers six sacks to get that accomplished right yeah yo we're not going to get that against Green Bay.

26:38We're not going to get that against Indianapolis. We're not going to get that against Los Angeles. That's not going to... I'm even worried about Chicago now because they 14. Buffalo? Come on, man.

26:55James Harrison:Like you said, though, it's not a personnel problem. We do have the personnel to do it. We are opportunistic. They do get a lot of turnovers. They just got to win first downs, like get them behind the sticks. they weren't getting them behind the sticks. Or if they did, then Joe Flacco was throwing it on time. Right. Even when we got behind the sticks, they're getting third and long. He's throwing it on these 10s, 12s, 14s, stuff like that. Flacco was balling. He was throwing the ball on time, and that's when you got to win your one-on-ones and be able to get after the quarterback. So, I mean. Yes, and we get no pressure.

27:26Like, dude, we got to face Detroit, too. All they do is run the ball effectively.

27:32James Harrison:Yeah, that could be true. That could be trouble. That could be trouble. Oh, D-Bow, you stressing out, huh? Bruh. You stressing out. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But look, this is the thing. This is the thing. Y 'all, we still scored 31 points. The offensive line protected Aaron Rodgers. He was standing upright a lot of the game. He was able to make passes. Jalen Warren was toting. The running game did look really good. It's the Bengals. I don't care. They still won, though. It's any given Sunday. And now the Bengals with Flacco. Shit. Flacco's not a dummy. You know what I realized? If you got a better receiver, then the Bengals didn't have Flacco on defense.

28:22It still ain't help us win. The defense got to show up at some point in time. I don't know. When's the last time we had a defense that was ranked this low?

28:34James Harrison:What are we, 26, 28? That was a good – the defense played bad that game for sure. But that was a good football game. That was a good football game by the offensive side of the ball and by Joe Flacco's because he was going to – I don't give a damn about a good football game. I'd rather be sitting here talking about how we won ugly than how we – I don't care how good the game was, Joe. Hey, man, listen, that's that.

29:07James Harrison:It's any given Sunday, Debo. Now you're going back to when they won all those games and saying, oh, no, they only didn't play. You play against who you play in the stadium. You can't be talking out of both sides of your mouth. You know what I'm saying? You got to give them credit when they win. And then when they lose, definitely bash them. But at the end of the day, if Aaron Rodgers didn't throw two picks, we still probably still won the game. You know what I'm saying? Like, the defense did make a couple of stops at the end of the game on the fourth quarter. Offense could have drove down and scored.

29:33James Harrison:They made one stop, bro. Instead of punting. One stop. But shit, that's... The other two stops was early in the first quarter. In the fourth, they made one. The last eight possessions, they scored seven or eight. What is you talking about, bro? They made one stop in the fourth. You ain't do your job one time. One time in the fourth. They did. Like, just once. That's it. You only... One time. Huh? They didn't play good. They needed another one, obviously, or they wouldn't have fucking lost the game. You know what, man? I'm going to chalk this up. I'm going to chalk this up to Thursday night road games.

30:09That's what I'm going to chalk it up to.

30:12James Harrison:Quick, quick, quick turnaround. My man, Flacco only had three days of practice. Yeah, that's what I'm going to do. That's what I'm going to do. It's Thursday night road game. So, we got the worst Thursday night road game performance ever. Like, it's the longest streak in 45 years on Thursday night, I guess. What? Y 'all, the record? The Steelers record? The Steelers record, buddy. Dang. Yes. Yes. Yes. I guess, road games over the last, what, since 2000?

30:57I take it back. You go all the way back to 80.

31:02James Harrison:Now we see why Coach T was pissed, though. Yeah. Yeah. It ain't pretty. I don't think Coach T done won a Thursday Night Road game in his career. that's wild yeah I was today that's what I'm gonna chalk it up to then yeah chalk it up to Thursday chalk it up to a short week chalk it up to Thursday chalk it up to a short week chalk it up to miscommunication it's Thursday and everything happened because it was Thursday road game away that's what I'm gonna go with even though I know it's bullshit we've been playing as a defense like trash we just been able to get splash plays sacks at the right times and all that other stuff to be able to beat mediocre teams okay okay shootouts it's shootouts yeah no you speaking facts the defense has to play better they have to they have the talent they have the players, they got to get that on tape because the running defense is not looking good.

32:15James Harrison:And then the passing defense. I mean, even on the offensive side, we're having errors of what's going on. People don't know what's going on. The flea flicker. Yeah. Dude, he's like, what are you doing? I can. What are you doing? I can the flea flicker. You're running the wrong play. Yeah. He was hot. He was hot. Dude. I just I'll get over it you know what though this feeling of losing don't feel as bad as it do when you're actually there and you lose it so how I'm feeling I know they feeling way worse so hopefully that feeling to motivate them coaches, players everybody alike to get whatever fixed we need to get fixed and get this thing moving in the right direction.

33:12Like, as a 26, 28, we're not going to go nowhere. These offenses that we're going to face in the next, what, four or five weeks, they ain't turning the rock over like that. They're doing things more effective than anybody that we've played yet to date. If we come out there playing like we've been playing the last six, seven weeks, we go get the band struck up on us. We go get embarrassed. They go dog walk us.

33:51James Harrison:Damn, D. Drop your nuts, man. Put your foot in the ground. Stand for something. Dude, we can't even bust a grape in a fruit fight right now. Yeah, no, I mean, the stats don't lie. And they be running that ball. They be told this. So, you know, they got it. I know they got pride, man. I know they got pride in that locker room and they don't want to hear us talking about how bad their run defense is. And Debo over there looking pissed. So, dude, not just to run the past. Every dude, everything. I'm more I'm more I'm more with the past defense, too. Like you said, Debo. I mean, it's the total defense.

34:32James Harrison:It's both. I'm not going to lie. I'm more like the run. I'd feel far better if somebody beat me passing because they were just quick getting out the hand. But when you run the ball on somebody, you have to physically move them out of your way. And make create holes. Yes.

34:52That's demoralizing that you can't stop another man from putting you where he wants you so they can go where they want to. They're imposing their will on you. Yes. mm-hmm yep yep yep yeah i'm putting my foot on your neck

35:07James Harrison:but i just yeah that no that's a bad feeling too as a db just watching your boys just getting tossed out the way you know that you got to make that tackle or he's gonna strike up the band on a run play it's crazy yes getting scored on dude on a run play that ain't even on a run play that because we on the goal line if it's three yards or less. Even then, you got to drop down and stand up. Yeah. Every blade of grass, Debo. You got to call every blade. I don't even know why we came on here today. Dang. You were not expecting this, Debo, and that is for sure. I can tell you are perplexed. You are a little, yeah.

35:54James Harrison:You get a little frustrated when it's still You get frustrated when the Steelers lose, for sure. You tried to have camera malfunctions this morning. I was looking for my glasses. Uh-huh. That's what I was doing. I was really looking for my glasses, but... Yo. Right now, we trash. Yeah. Bro, you are overreacting, Debo. No, I'm not, bro. You are overreacting. I promise you, you are, brother. No, I'm not. Unless you are. And the Browns, you dirty, rotten bastards then went and gave them. Yep, they definitely did that, though. Next time, we see y 'all. They definitely did that. Joe Flacco is a smart man.

36:42James Harrison:I love watching him play quarterback now because at least he understands. When he was with the Browns, I mean, I don't know what happened. You giving too much. What? I'm doing too much what? Positive energy over here. I'm feeling. No, bro. Oh, this is what I'm saying. You're going to sit here and not give him, not positive, but did you not watch the game? Did you not see him picking us apart? And even if he was throwing those passes, you know what I'm saying? Like he could have been throwing them just into the dirt, but he was throwing them right on the money, and Jamar chasing them, was catching them passes.

37:15James Harrison:And the offensive coordinator, you see him. Cleveland, this is why you don't give him Joe Flacco. Exactly. I didn't give him Joe Flacco. What the? These people are going to make me lose. Yeah, get mad, D-Bo. Go ahead. I'm telling you. Because you got to be a realist. You saw the game. And you're not giving Joe Flacco credit for looking like a beast out there and dropping them dimes to Jamar Chase and Higgins? Who? Who? Flacco. Who I'm going to give? No. No. No? No. No. You're not going to say Flacco did good? I hate. Listen. I don't hate him. You don't hate Joe Flacco. I like Joe. I know you do.

38:00I hate the Browns as an organization. Okay. Whoever made that decision, I hope they go down there and beat the brakes off y 'all ass with it. I hope he throw for 425, six touchdowns. Hey. I was nothing. I feel you. I feel you. The best for you, Joe, when you play the Browns. Dog walk him. Dog walk him. Bro.

38:33James Harrison:Hey, he might mess around and do it. Because I don't think that was a smart decision at all. I agree with you a thousand percent. We should never. And what you get for it? Nothing. You ain't get nothing for it. You traded a couple. You ain't get nothing for it. I ain't get Nathaniel. We got Nathaniel, bro. Nothing. Y 'all about to mess around. I was looking for the Joe that was throwing picks. This Joe, this not the Joe I was looking for. Bro, that Joe. Bro, that Joe. And you put him in there with these receivers, man. With those receivers, bro? Are you kidding me? Like, that's what I'm trying to tell you.

39:12James Harrison:That's why, man, yeah. Joe Flacco, he realized something. These dudes are really good on my team. I'm not going to stand back here and look goofy. I want to throw the ball. We ain't getting no pressure on him. We ain't rerouting nobody. We ain't stopping nobody from just going where they want to go. We ain't getting no hands on nobody. He throwing on time. On time. Dude, he throwing as soon as a dude cut the break. Bro. Like, right before the break. Boom. Throw your hands up. It's right here. Go ahead, Flacco. I respect it. I respect it because it just shows that it wasn't him. I mean, he got some players on the team.

39:54James Harrison:He going to throw it where they need to be. You got to put them to see if they got to be where they got to be.

40:00James Harrison:Mm-hmm. Joe Flacco, he's not out there throwing. Joe did his thing. Yes, Joe. Joe did his thing. That's for the old guys. Yes, Joe, go ahead. Yeah, the Unk Bowl, all that stuff. Unk went out there and pulled the belt out on her ass. put belt to ass, as they say. As the youngins say. Oh, my goodness, man. Oh, man. It's all good. Listen, man, let's go over here, man, to the North. Listen, Michael Parsons calls out the one-sided officiating. Here's what he had to say. You know what's so bad, bro? I can't get my mind off of this. Let's listen to what Michael said, man. You know, five years ago not gonna call you eventually stop worrying about it you know but you know I think I just got to keep going that's just that's the hunt yeah like that's part of the challenges like you just got to keep going and that's bothersome that that worries them they know that like that's the part of being one of the best you know that comes with some territory where the parts that you hate and the parts that the league lets go like they know like I mean you can tell how they call the games They don't call outsides for offense, but they'll call on defense.

41:17James Harrison:They won't call offensive pass interference, but they'll call defensive pass interference. I mean, like, we know what they're trying to do. They want to load the points up so fans can be happy. And, you know what I mean? They'll call defensive holding, but they won't call offensive holding. Like, let's just wake up. Like, it's just one of those things that we know what the higher-ups is trying to do. Like, the ref would say, I know that's a hold, but what? But, like, you're not going to call it. Like, come on. Like, it's just one of those things that, like, I'm over it. And I would just have to keep going, push through.

41:52What do you think, man?

41:54James Harrison:You agree? Disagree? It might sound like he's making excuses. You know what I'm saying? But kind of, you know, I mean, I played in the league, too, now for a minute. And when we first got in, the rules are changing. They do want points. The referees will tell you, like, they'll definitely let an offensive pass interference go before you, like, get – if you get a smidgen of grabbing somebody's jersey or touching like that, they can call defensive pass interference illegal touching and all that. So I heard plenty of times, like, if I get pushed off on or I pull the jersey – Push wasn't hard enough to stop you from being able to go where you wanted to go.

42:32Yeah, it was. You seen it. Well, I don't think it was enough to stop you or impede you from being able to follow him. Oh, that hold wasn't enough. He held on to you, but, you know, he let go fast enough. Believe me, I got all that stuff. The block with the arm around the neck. Oh, he wasn't holding you. How's he not holding me, but his arms were on my neck? Well, you know, you're short and he's taller than you. Well, yeah, that's part of his advantage and disadvantages that we both have. Like, that should be a hole. I 100 % understand what he's saying. And, yes, he's right. The game is getting tailored so that, you know, they want to see points.

43:09That's what the fans want to see. You know, they want to see these high-scoring games back and forth. I'm not of that because probably because we're defensive-minded players.

43:19James Harrison:Bro, when you play defense, it's like, if he's holding me, he's holding me. You know what I'm saying? Like, you feel like it's very black and white. If I was pulling on him, you're going to call it on me. So, it's kind of like you understand it more. Like, when you play defense, we get it. Like, no, that's not okay. But when you're asking the refs, like, you're hearing it. Like, when they're saying to you, Nadeebo, he had his arm around you because you were a little shorter. But he's holding me. You know what I'm saying? Throw the flag. You've seen it. You know what I'm saying? So, they do that.

43:47James Harrison:It happens all the time. And defensive players, we hear it from the refs. Like, man, what? Like, he was grabbing me. Like, nah, but he didn't impede your process. But like, so they can call. If he's grabbing me, he's impeding my process. Oh, the jersey pull wasn't enough. That's holding. He's pulling the jersey. Like, he shouldn't be holding onto the jersey at all. Like, well, he didn't, he didn't, you know, it wasn't enough to stop you from being able to go. You were able to push through it. Well, if he didn't pull me, maybe I'll get a little closer to making that tackle or that sack. or touching the quarterback to, you know, hit the pass or interfere with his throwing motion, whatever that may be.

44:26So, yeah, I 100 % understand it. But, again, he's going to have to understand it ain't just you. It's the league.

44:33James Harrison:It's the league. It's the way it is. And even speaking on it, you know what I'm saying? I mean, not having as many sacks as he wants right now, you could be feeling some type of way. You just want to get out how you feel and being serious about this is really legitimately happening. but putting it out in the media is something that everybody kind of, we already know it's kind of nothing really that they can be able to do about it, but it could definitely get an eye on. So people could see like, look, you are getting held and they're not calling it, but sometimes defensive players, you know what I'm saying?

45:01James Harrison:That it is what it is and it's happening to everybody in the league. It's not just Michael. Yeah. Yeah. That's something. Hey, I'm Hoda Kotb, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotb. Okay. If you know me, you know this, I'm always searching for inspiration, for support, and useful tools to help maximize joy. 48:04But, you know, we just go after it. I have to get over it. The boy Skip, man, he out here tripping. He called out Travis for getting baptized before the Jaguars game. That don't make no sense. Listen. Listen to what Travis said and his response to it.

48:24James Harrison:Did you get baptized this morning? Yes. Why did you do that? It's a crazy question. Why did I get baptized? Why did you choose to go to the church this morning? Sunday. It's God's day. and I've been planning to get baptized for a minute. You know, I want to change my life forward, become a better man. What does it mean to you? It means a lot. You know, becoming a better man, leaving my old flesh and just becoming a new travesty.

48:51You have a problem with him getting baptized when he got baptized or whatever the situation may be. That kind of threw me off. Like, why'd you get baptized? She said it like she had a problem with it or something. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It said like it was a bad thing. Yeah, that kind of made me feel some type of way. Like calling somebody out because they got baptized. It's like calling somebody out for going to church on Sunday. It don't make no sense. Like, are you out of your mind? So you're telling me that the timing is not right for someone to accept their Lord and Savior. And that he said he was checking himself out.

49:31Huh? He's checking himself out. No, no. He's checking himself in. He's checking himself in. Matthew 19, 26 says, but Jesus looked at them and said, with man, this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible. He's realizing that this isn't just him. okay he wants to cleanse himself of his sins leave his old life behind his old ways of thinking his old ways of living and start to follow his lord and savior jesus christ you telling me the timing ain't right no right now is the time you sound like you that timing ain't right you sound like the devil skip that sound like something the devil would say because of a football stop Stick to football, man.

50:25James Harrison:Get out of here. Come on. I feel you, D-Bow. You are a thousand percent right. Sunday is the Lord's Day at the end of the day. Yes. And I'm never, the religion is really big in my family. I know it's really big in your family. I'm a God-fearing man. And I'm never pushing any religion on anybody. But if somebody's accepting their Lord and Savior and they want to get baptized and do what they got to do, I'm so happy for him because I think he's opening a new chapter like you said in his life and it's going to be nothing but better for him because it's bigger than me I know that everybody spiritually however they feel this world is bigger than us so for him to do that I appreciate it I'm happy for him it's not because it had nothing to do with nothing that we worried about this is a bigger thing and I expect that did he miss the game?

51:10James Harrison:was he late? no did any of that happen? he still was in the quarter game in time everything was there was able to make his things because there's 24 hours in a day. Nobody is sitting there clocking you what you were doing this morning before you came to your job. Like Travis Hunter, he has a job to do. He has to be there two hours before the kickoff. I know he – I'm not saying to know exactly, but I'm thinking that he made all of his times and all of his places that he had to be. I'm expecting that he was there. You know what I'm saying? And still did what he had to do. So I can't understand where Skip is coming from.

51:43James Harrison:I know people just get so wrapped up in football, football, Oh, make the main thing the main thing. Stay singularly focused. I don't know. Are you clout chasing? Like, are you trying to get a headline? Like, I don't what's going on that don't even do. That just sounds crazy to me. Like, yeah, that don't make sense. You're checking out because you're checking in with your Lord and Savior and saying, yo, you are the Lord of my life. I'm here. I want to follow you. I want to I want to listen to your commands. I want to be obedient. Like what? Huh? Yeah. Yeah. How do you even bring that out and say that?

52:26Skip, you like, what are you thinking there? I don't understand that one. To call out this man accepting his Lord and Savior as him checking out? Ooh. Yeah.

52:38James Harrison:He got it. He got it. That sounds like the only person that would say you was checking out if you was doing that would be the devil. And you was checking out of hell.

52:49James Harrison:you ain't lying D-bo I don't know how he came up with that one brother that's not a good spot for us I don't think Skip I think he kind of just yeah he spoke out of turn that's not that's not what it is and then checking out when he's getting baptized I mean it's just not not the right not the right not the right words not the right verbiage Skip Skip must not do nothing before he go to work I don't know I don't know. Maybe, maybe. Who knows? I don't know. So I guess New York was involved with the Jared Goff touchdown. So what happened on that one? I think this was, they talking about New York called down, brother, and was able to, like, get in touch with the refs and told them that make it not a touchdown.

53:38James Harrison:Because of the pre-snap. Because of the pre-snap. because they said you can't go line up under the center or behind the center, and then you got to step back and then go in motion. So they said the play wasn't the right play. So that's how it went down. And they're saying now that that's not – the league isn't supposed to be able to get in touch with the refs. That's what I was thinking. You know what I'm saying? They said that – Depending on how the play – The integrity of the game, all of that stuff, the league isn't supposed to be able to get in touch with the refs and tell them to switch this call or make this call, whatever it was.

54:12James Harrison:So I think they're saying that because if they can call in and make a call, then they could call in and, you know what I'm saying, switch a little, kind of do whatever they want. Yeah, that's a little too much. If you're going to do that, then you've got to allow it for any and every situation then. All these touch pushes, A, review. You've seen a review that he was off. He went before the ball. Shouldn't New York call down and say, hey, quick, though. Yeah, don't allow that. Don't. Same thing with, you know, with other plays. At what point, you know, do they say, oh, well, maybe the league is fixed, as he's saying, you know, the league's fixed.

54:57You know, they doing what's necessary to keep the point spread, whatever it is. and you involve gambling, like they said, it gets tricky when you get people overstepping the boundaries of what the rules of the game says. Yeah. So I don't – yeah, I don't – maybe we could have got some – it wouldn't even help us yesterday, bro. No. It didn't matter what they did. No, no, no, no, no.

55:24James Harrison:We couldn't have. That was a solid – they did – nothing foggy. nothing illegal. They just went down there and did exactly what they had to do in between the whistles. Dude. We almost came up 500 yards. Brother, Jamar Chase and T. Higgins had combined for 24 catches for 257 yards and two touchdowns. Two players, bruh. Two dudes, brother. Two. That was crazy. Y 'all got to put eyes on that man. I don't...

56:13Something got to change, bro. I don't... Yo, I am so lost. It was looking wicked.

56:27How... Dude, how much paper we got over there on defense, bro? Like, how much did we spend on that, bro? Like 170-something mil.

56:39James Harrison:28. 28? 26? 28? What is we? What? Is it we now, or is it just you? Or us? Me? What is it, Joe? We, we, we. I said, but you're talking about the Steelers defense, right? Yeah. I said 100, and it's like 179 million. You ain't feeling what I'm feeling. You was more upset when the Browns lost. This one I'm trying to tell you, Debo. I don't feel the equal upsetness. You're not matching my energy. Because. Because. Because what? You a Browns fan. No. I'm both. I'm both. I'm a Steelers fan too, but I just know we got A-Rod. We got A-Rod defense. defense, we still, it's still Jalen Ramsey there. It's still Slay.

57:31James Harrison:It's still Hayward. It's still Queen. We just got to go to the tape. We just got to watch the tape. We can't keep letting this happen. I know we have the talent to make it happen. So that's why I'm not as big. We don't watch the tape the last six weeks and it really ain't changed much. I know. I know. I know. But I think now, Coach, we just, we can't, yeah. We're going to have to just come up with a better game plan than that. And no, and we have to win our own individual one-on-ones. We just got to win. Win. Win. Yes. Yes. Listen. Do your job. Do your job. Make sure your job is done first. That's all that I'm telling you.

58:14James Harrison:Go and help your partner. You're 111. That's the thing. People don't even need to worry about their partner yet because they're not doing their job. Like, if everybody was just doing their job on their man, and you know what I'm saying? then the defense will be so much better. No shit, Joe.

58:34James Harrison:So niggas need to stop running scot-free. Bruh. I'm in. I'm lightweight shaking, bro. Listen. All right, look, Debo. You want me to give you some super chats? Do some super chats, man. Let me do some super chats for you. All right. I got some super chat questions. This is from Grayson Brown, 9778. He donated, said, Why are road AFC North teams 2-18 in divisional Thursday night football, 0-10 in the last 10 games? Close your mouth asking the question. We don't want to hear what you're saying. Pitt is 0-7. Thursday night football feels rigged. Well, that wasn't a question. It was more of a statement.

59:19You think we letting them rig it so we can lose? Are you a goofball?

59:23James Harrison:No. Who asked that question? That's Grayson Brown, brother.

59:31Y 'all about to make me lose my religion right now. I'm going to say something that ain't God.

59:34James Harrison:And then we got another one, too, Debo. Yeah, he going hard on me. You goofball. Champ, Champ JR. Champ JR says, no excuses. They had a short week, too. They had a short... You right. He did. But... you're right. We play like trash. Trash. We play like trash. That's what it was, trash. Hey. The defense didn't stand, man. The defense didn't do it. I'm just trying to grasp to something to give me some hope. And every time I try to grasp to something to give me some hope, I know good and damn well it's an excuse. Because just as he said, we all played on Thursday. We all had a short week. All that.

1:00:23Thursday nights away games. Da-da-da-da. Bullfraggle rock. We played like trash.

1:00:32James Harrison:Yep, that one slipped, man. That one slipped. And the Bengals did do good. That pick buddy had, they played. They made plays. They did make plays. All right. Never one for you, D-Bo. Sully Griffin. Great show today. Do you stick with Flacco for the rest of the season if it's Cincinnati or save Burrow for next season? I'll go with Flacco until Burrow gets 100 % healthy and then I'm throwing Burrow back in there. I need Flacco to go and we need to, we play them again. Bruh, still is, don't let this man do this to y 'all again. Us. Because Joe ain't with us. I am definitely with you. Out, bro. Go put on your elf costume with the little feet, the browns elf.

1:01:23Go get your... Where your dog at? You ain't even got a dog. I don't even know why I even said that, but I don't know. It don't match.

1:01:32James Harrison:I got a whole Steelers helmet here too, D-Bow. You probably go get a dog right now. A two, three. I got a... See that? Man, I'm rapping.

1:01:45James Harrison:All right. Who else we got? Yeah, what you got? What else you got? What did my man say? We got Alexander Gallon. No more Steelers. They play 10 defense. What's that?

1:02:02James Harrison:I don't know what that means. No more Steelers. They play 10 defense. I don't know. All right, next one. Okay. He's saying we play with 10 men on the field. It damn sure seemed like it. Damn. Damn. What are you saying? Go ahead, man. Next one. Okay, Lynch Lisa donated$20. Love you, too. God bless you and family. Amen. God bless you, too. Yes. Thank you. That's a sweetheart right there. But I think my man, he must have said some Steelers. They play with— Steelers play with 10 on defense? That's crazy work. Dude, I don't— Hey, I don't know. It would have been worse than that, I guess, if it was 10.

1:02:55But I don't know.

1:02:57James Harrison:Listen. We got to get that. It's run and pass, Debo, because the man Chase Brown was toting, and then the receivers was catching it, and everybody was kind of open. Besides them first two series. The worst team rushing the ball. just bopped us. They did. They did. They bopped us. They did, Debo. I'm pissed about it. Six or tote. I'm pissed about it. Dude, almost 10 or tote. What are we doing? Getting toted on. Oh, you think this shit funny? No, it's not funny. It's not funny. It's not funny. This shit embarrassing, man. It's not funny. Oh, 10 for you. He made 10 like 10 for you. I got to go to my son's game tonight, right?

1:03:54And I got to sit there and try and not... I'm going to bop my son if... Listen, somebody got to get it. Somebody got to get it. Somebody got to get it. tonight, today.

1:04:12James Harrison:Oh, he said he meant like tinfoil. Tinfoil. That's what he said. Oh, okay. It's the same thing. What's the difference? I don't... Hey, listen. I'm going to try and calm down. I really am. So, this is what we going to do. Yes. Yo, it's something running through my body. Like, it comes and goes. It's like just one to just rage. Oh, yeah. Hold up. What we got, D-Bow? Woo!

1:04:54We trash, bro. We trash. Listen, bro. Y 'all want me to come back? I ain't got nothing left. I ain't going to lie to you. but I don't

1:05:06James Harrison:I can't do no worse. I know you're going I know you're going throw your body in there full speed. That's one thing you're going to do. You're going to hit somebody. I don't I can't I know one thing I can't help. I'm not trying to Yo son

1:05:32I'm talking to my son. He ain't even watching this, but boy, if y 'all let anybody get 10 total on y 'all,
