In short
Sports reaction and analysis to multiple NFL games: Steelers’ win over the Patriots, Browns’ upset win over the Packers, and Chiefs’ first win of the season (plus a longer detour into Eagles vs. Rams special-teams and play-calling discussion).
Guests
James “Deebo” Harrison and Joe Hayden (hosts). No other guests are interviewed in the provided transcript.
Key claims (Steelers vs. Patriots): Steelers’ defense “bend but don’t break” with early turnovers (fumble/turnover early; interceptions including one in the end zone to end the half). They forced multiple Patriots drives to stall, including key fourth-down stops. Offense emphasized “smash-mouth” run game (seven run plays early) and targeted DK Metcalf (early deep shot, plus a DK touchdown in the second quarter). Criticism: missed assignments/communication issues, giving up big plays and too many explosive runs; offense needs more consistency.
Notable examples
Cam Hayward quote about being “thirsty” for sacks causing assignment misses; Aaron Rodgers not sacked for the first time since 2022 (in this game); Steelers posted Boston-tied movie references after the win and shared a “W on wheels” Harvard Yard video. Browns vs. Packers: Browns’ defense held Green Bay to 10 points and pressured Jordan Love into uncomfortable decisions; Delpit made game-changing plays including an interception return. Browns kicker Schmidt hit a walk-off longest field goal in franchise history.

1:53welcome back to Debo and Joe I'm your host James Debo Harrison I'm here with my co-host Joe Hayden make sure you guys like and subscribe you don't want to miss nothing man I'm feeling
2:06James Harrison:real good how you doing over there Joe man I'm feeling great Debo you know what man I like the way you came so you know what I'm gonna do I'm gonna go ahead and get right also I see you right to play. You know, I'm feeling good with my brownies. I'm going to go ahead. This is how we're going to rock it out to go ahead and pop off the show. Yeah, yeah. Got to. Got to. No question about it. Let's go ahead and get down to the nitty gritty, baby. Listen, my Steelers, because I see you got on your brown stuff today. My Steelers went out there and we went on and beat on the Patriots. I'm just going to say beat on because, you know, them boys couldn't really couldn't do much you know when it came down to it defense came out strong you know we go out there second play we got a sack uh-huh yeah third play we should have had a pick but that's cool because the next play we went on ahead and made them boys fumble that rock you know what i'm saying yeah it's easy work then we get the offense they step out there you You know what they did?
3:07They said, we the Pittsburgh Steelers. We play smash mouth football. We go run this down your motherfucking throat.
3:16James Harrison:Okay, that's how they popped off. I ain't gonna lie. They did. Seven plays, man. Seven run plays now. Seven run plays. Nine, nine. The defense, though, Debo, like you said, they popped off early. Turnover within the first couple plays of the game. Look here, man. Look here, man. You trying to gaze over this. don't you be gazing over nothing now? Listen here. Got my man DK in there early, right? Went on here, gave him a quick one, let him stroke out real quick. Threw a deep one to him. You know, he was scared. Boy was nervous. That was huge P.I. And then what happened? Seven. We did. They scored.
3:53James Harrison:Yeah, baby. Yeah, baby. Next possession. You know what happened, though. Defense come out there, do what they got to do. Get that sack on that third down. Hello. Hello. So, steel curtain, tight, like. They was part of defense. Straight to the. Yeah. Listen, man, I'm trying to tell you, this is what's going on, man. Hey, offense comes right back out there. What'd they do? They say, you know what? We ran it down on you last time. We're going to go ahead and mix it up. We're going to mix it up a little bit. You know what I'm saying? But what we're going to make sure that we do is go ahead and get this man involved, that man DK, get him involved.
4:33Mm-hmm. 14. 14-0 right there. Beginning of the second quarter, touchdown DK. Yeah.
4:40James Harrison:That was a nice, that was a good pass. Good pass. Hey, hey, listen, man, I'm trying to tell you. I got two feet in. That was beautiful. That's what it was. And, you know, things started to get a little, yeah. Yeah. A little, you know, New England comes out, you know, they go on ahead. They get, first run was like 10 yards. And, you know, I'm a little hesitant. You know, I'm pulling on my glass a little bit. Then the second play, we let the quarterback scramble for it. Like, come on. And then we go ahead and get a P.I., and we done helped them go ahead and score a touchdown. Get it all the way down there.
5:12James Harrison:Y 'all left the man wide open in the flat. What? What is we doing? What is we doing? And then the offense come back out and just do three and up. We ain't no answer, no nothing. Like, that's not what we do. That's just not what we do. So we got to put the defense back out there at the three and out. And then the defense proceeds to let D-boy go 17 plays, convert two fourth downs? Yeah. Two, hold up. Two giant third downs, dude. Long third downs. And they got 20 plus yards on that, dude. Mm-hmm. But? But that's the bend, but don't break. Hey, like you said, I was going to say the same thing. Hey, you bend, but you don't break.
6:02What we do, we took they hopes away with a nice paw from Cam. Interception in the end zone. To end the half.
6:13James Harrison:Bro, that's two turnovers in the first half. Yeah, buddy. Taking away the corners. It's looking like real, some sort of real still of football there. You know what I'm saying? I'm loving it, you know? And then we start off the second half and... Yeah, what about that? A-Rod threw the first pick. He threw... I don't... Listen, he threw a pick. So this is what had happened. He was looking and he kind of got... I think he got locked in and just went blank over there. That's the only way he could have did that, man. He could have looked at him. My man, Robert Splane. Splickack. Used to be playing linebacker for the Steelers.
6:53James Harrison:Mm-hmm. You caught that pick and tried to get busy up the sideline. Oh, no question. But like I said, you got the defense, you know, they back out there. Oh, yeah. And what do they do? What do they do, Devo? What do we do? Go ahead and pop that boy Stevenson again. Get us another one. Come on back. Come on over here. You know how they – On the one-yard line. Throw that chain. Get over here. That was him with that ball. Just get over here. He was just giving it up. He couldn't hold it. Yeah, bro. It started looking like I thought I was running back the same play a couple times. They just kept fumbling the ball.
7:30I'm like, just have it. We make it look the same when we go out there and do the same thing to you over and over again. You know what I'm saying? But then the offense go out there and they basically go three and out. If it wasn't for a little penalty, it would have been a three and out. You know what happened then. What happened, Evo? Defense has to go back out there. What we do? What we do? What is it? What was it? Another problem?
7:59James Harrison:That boy coughed that ball up again. I think he might have had COVID. That could be the only explanation. You know what I'm saying? Some type of cough medicine. So we get on out there again. You know, we done gave him a little, you know, we done gave him some more opportunities. And the offense give us three and out again. Okay? He done give us three and out again. And what's the score at this point? Is it 14-7? The score is 14-7 right now. 14-7 right now. And New England comes out again. 15 plays, bro. How many fourth down conversions? Two fourth down conversions, bro. That's what I'm saying.
8:42Two. One of them being the touchdown that brought it 14-14. Exactly.
8:50James Harrison:man. That's what, that was, that, the Stillers defense doing great job, but that's what I'm saying too. A-Rod, when you keep saying, we keep slumming over like, another three and now, another three and now. These are just opportunities where the Stillers defense is giving them the ball, you know what I'm saying? And I'm like, they're balling out. We need something. We need something. Right, so I'm like, hey, at least, I know the offense got to come back out here and give us an answer. Give us something. They don't give us nothing. The only thing that helped extend the play was a P.I. Like, that's the only thing we had what two three incompletions on there I don't know I don't know what you I keep saying we I see you got that Brown stuff I mean we like us I'm with you too I'm with you too I'm still I'm still I know man I knew you was gonna go so hard with the with the Steelers stuff I'm just saying man you gotta show my my Brown some love too always yeah you know then New England they come back out there man they start they start moving the ball a little bit man but let me see Who show up again?
9:48That defense. Always. Give that offense a nice short field. Is that the one with flopped? Is that the one with flopped on it? Yeah, boy. Offense come out there. What'd they do? What'd they do? Tell them what they did. That's what they need. They scored. They answered with that touchdown. They answered. They answered with that. And defense come back out there. And, hey, we finally stopped them when it really, really, really mattered on that fourth down. They called the game out, man.
10:19James Harrison:They were fourth or fourth on fourth until that last fourth when you had to play to get them off the field. Yes, sir. Great tackle. Now, I'm not going to sit here and say it was a perfect game. I mean, it's some things that we need to do.
10:41We still almost gave them 370 yards, okay? We need to improve on our run game defense for sure. When it comes down to it, we throwing, I think we're giving up a little over four yards of pop. You got, I think Drake, you know, the quarterback, he added probably 40-something yards of that just from scrambling. You know, if you take that away, but you can't take that away. That's part of the game. Like we have to play well situational defense, third and longs, you know, the fourth downs. I think some guys were missing assignments because you got guys that are just blown open, you know.
11:27James Harrison:Yeah. So when you see things like that, you know, that's not that's not planned in the defense. I think we got to get we still got to get better with with being, you know, getting getting more pressure on the quarterback. But when you're ahead, you know, that's one of the things we did well, you know, this week is that we were ahead. We were able to get that pressure. You're able to take some, you know, chances, you know, depending on what it is. And the offense, dude, the offense, they need to be more consistent. I just feel like if you could if you could do that in that in that first quarter and, you know, make the thing run like that, you can do that for the rest of the game.
12:09It's about building the consistency of it and getting into some type of groove. Run blocking always has to get better. I don't think we had too much of an issue past blocking as far as how bad it had been the previous weeks. You see improvement. I see improvement. I see improvement, but also we were going against a defense that isn't a top defense. I think, you know, just in the last couple of weeks, I think they may be 27, something like that total. It's only two weeks in, but it's still, you know, it's still telling.
12:51James Harrison:You know, I'm with you a thousand percent on that. I think that my biggest take is the Steelers defense was mainly bend, but don't break. You know what I'm saying? Like we said, they made the plays. They were very opportunistic, being able to punch the ball out, being able to create turnovers. That's huge. You know what I'm saying? Five turnovers in the game speaks volumes. But like to your point, big explosive plays. We just can't be giving up gashes of runs at 10 yards a total sometimes. Big plays in the back end, just leaving people wide open. There needs to be a body on the body. If they make a play on you and it's just good on good, that's good.
13:25James Harrison:You know what I'm saying? But if somebody's running scot-free down the field, there's a communication problem there. There's an area where somebody shouldn't just be running right down our defense. So I think the defense did really good just making plays, turning over the ball. Five turnovers, continue to get the ball to your offense is unbelievable. But the big plays, like just execution, making sure everybody's a body's on the body. There's going to be plays made. They're going to, you're going to get mauled. Somebody going to juke you. But that's when you're on that man. If there's somebody running scot-free down your defense into the flat, into the end zone, that just shouldn't be happening.
13:57James Harrison:So then with the offense, I'll go to them. When the defense keeps giving you the ball this many times in this promise positions, you got to keep the ball. You got to not turn it over. You got to score points. You know what I'm saying? So I think that the all kinds just being able to get a rhythm going, be able to get some. Like when we were looking at it, they would turn the ball over. They would stop them. And the next, you know, they would get a three and out. You know what I'm saying? That's not a feeling. That's not a good vibe. So defense was doing good. They can definitely do better of matching up communication.
14:25James Harrison:They can't give up those runs, like you said, big plays going down the field. but my thing was more just offense. We need some type of rhythm. You know what I'm saying? We need something. Well, I mean, like I said, we did better. This is the first time Aaron Rodgers hasn't been sacked in a game since 2022. Oh, no, for sure, for sure. The pass protection was good. Pass protection, like you said, is you were seeing improvement and for them to be able to go down there. And they were also doing like that run game alternative, the quick niles and all that, get it out of his hands. You know, that slows down people's rushes, you know.
14:56They're trying to anticipate, is it going to be that? you know, or is it actually going to be a pass? So that's a big thing. Like you said, the five turnovers, that's huge. It's not like we're going to, you know, get an opportunity, I don't think, to get five turnovers again in a game. But with two of those, you know, turnovers coming up inside the Steelers five-yard line, you know, that's crazy. Yes. That's something that you really don't count for. So.
15:24James Harrison:Bro, what? The pick, like you thinking that you're trying to at least, Let's just make sure they get three, not zero. And then two times in a row, they get no points at all. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's great. That's great defense. Yeah, yeah. So I said the assignment thing. So despite the win, Cam Hayward had this to say. I think sometimes we were, you know, not paying attention to our assignments. Sometimes you can get a little thirsty in there. You know what thirsty mean? You running for that sack. You ain't paying attention to your assignment right there. He says, this is just going to be a sneak or two, but then on the flip side, it can make you susceptible to big passes.
16:04We got to keep our we got to have our eyes in the right place. And, you know, it's something it's something we can learn from. Yeah. What's your reaction to that? I really believe that's exactly what he's saying. Like, that's the Mr. Simons guys. Just go ahead. You tell me what you are. No, you know, you know, you saying that go ahead, Debo, pop off. Yeah, it's just missed assignments. Guys are when they say thirsty, thirsty means, you know, I'm out here either running for a sack when I should be probably squeezing down to keep this gap closed from the running back being able to cut through it.
16:39Things like that. So he's saying exactly what we were seeing. And, you know, like you said, it's something they can learn from. Hopefully they can get it done and fix it.
16:52James Harrison:because that's that's like you said too that's an accountability thing debote and you know when when you're a grown man you're watching film and you're watching tape and you know that you had to squeeze instead of trying to run for the sack they can show that on tape they see you run up the field what are you supposed to be doing i'm supposed to be squeezing so that's play the run first and rush to the pass rush to the a lot of guys are just hoping you know they're guessing right that it's going to be that pass and they run up field and they leave that gap open for that back to swerve back in two and now you know before somebody get to him it's another you know three four five six yards he gets past you know the the first the linebacker inside backer they get him held up you know that's that's 10 plus before he gets to you know a safety or somebody that's a it's a chain reaction because you got a d lineman got a the linebackers got to trust that the line is going to be in his gap he's not just going to swing it to the next gap to his spot sometimes Every play is not your play.
17:45James Harrison:This play isn't your tackle to make. And some dudes are trying to be thirsty and now I'm going to make all the plays. This isn't your play to make. If you make sure he doesn't come here, the linebacker is going to feel right there and he's going to get a tackle. And that's you did your job. It may not show up in the stat sheet, but the team, everybody knows that guy was blocked. He had to come through mine because you was staying in yours. You know what I'm saying? I think a lot of guys fall into doing that, especially when you're losing or you're not playing well. A lot of guys are like, you know what?
18:12I'm trying to put this on my shoulders. I'm going to do what's necessary. But in that process, you actually leave your teammates out to hang because you're not taking care of your job. The easiest and best thing that you can do is take care of your job. You do what you're supposed to do first and then help your partner. I was supposed to know what would always tell us. Do your job first and then you can help your partner. Once your job is taken care of, then you can help your partner. Don't try and go and do somebody else's job. No, for sure.
18:40James Harrison:Because how are you going to build trust? He can't trust that you're going to be in your spot. So not people trying to make up for what you're going to do, going away from their stuff. Everybody do your 111th. You know what I'm saying? If you do your job, then it's built for somebody else. You know what I'm saying? So not trying to make every play. Well, at least we know my guy, Aaron Rodgers, he made history. Yes, he did. He's fourth now all the time for touchdown pass in NFL history. When they asked him where it ranked in his career, he said, I mean, not super duper high. It means I played a long time.
19:19What do you what do you take from that?
19:22James Harrison:You know, he did. I don't know. I think he appreciates it, but just living in the moment. I know he thinks he got way more touchdown passes to throw. It's an individual award and it's in the middle of the season. So I think he's just trying to just keep a team first. just trying to keep that narrative off that he's really all about himself. I think it definitely means something to him. He's been playing a long time in the league, and it's a lot of touchdowns with not a lot of interceptions. His touchdown-to-interception ratio is probably the best ever to do it. So, I mean, I'm happy for him, and I think he is too, but I think that he's just trying to take the humble approach and just try to be like, it really doesn't matter.
19:58James Harrison:At the end of the day, our offense isn't playing too well right now. I'm not doing too many touchdowns. Like, I had a touchdown pass to DK. and we had two touchdowns today, but it's not like he's used to throwing four touchdowns a game for 400 yards. That's just an A-Rod day. So him throwing 139 yards for two touchdowns and a pick, it's nothing for him to rah-rah about. So he's like, this is not the time for me to go talk about how many touchdown passes I've thrown when I just threw two and I threw 139 yards, two touchdowns and a pick, and our offense doesn't look that good. So I think he's, end of the day, A-Rod knows what it is.
20:31James Harrison:He's A-Rod for sure, no matter what. Can't nobody say nothing about it. But at this particular moment, they're not playing too good. He's not performing at his type of level. So he's just going to take it the humble approach. Yeah, I agree with you. I think he's going and just, you know, he's not trying to put a lot of attention on that because that's something that you look at when you're done playing and say, okay, yeah, I did that. Right now, you're in the moment. Your focus should be the next game. And I actually like that. I like that quote. I like that approach. I mean, he just shows, like, especially the way they talk.
21:04about him, like how they say he is, you know, you hear from, that doesn't sound like the person that they, you know, try and portray him as, you know, from other media. The Steelers trolled the Patriots, though, after the win. They posted references to actors with Boston ties. They had Matt Damon in Good Will Honey, Mark Wahlberg in the movie, from the movie Ted, and then the team shared a video of a W on wheels being parked at Harvard. Check it out.

21:47James Harrison:Now arrived at Harvard Yard.
22:04James Harrison:They don't like the Patriots, man. They don't like the Patriots, man. I was geeked up. They posted my interception back in 2018 versus them on their Instagram page. I knew they was like, yeah, I think that might have been the last time they won. Yeah, brother. Listen, I'm not a, I don't know. I don't care about it one way or the other, to be honest with you. because I never watched Good Will Hunting, so I don't know what the reference of that is. The Ted thing, I mean, it's corny. He missed me with all of it, brother. Yeah. It was weak. Yeah. I ain't gonna lie. They got a little weak media team over there.
22:54James Harrison:Ah, no. That, let me have to hold me. Listen, man. Listen. Listen here. Let me hit you with this. Let me hit you with this. So they playing Seattle, right? I'm at the game. They're playing Seattle. Things is going. You know, Renegade. Yeah, yeah. These dummies play Renegade while their kickoff team is about to kick off. To y 'all. To us. Oh, no. the Seattle Seahawks are on the sideline jumping up and down turning up waving Nate's house turn up who is in control of that needs to not be in control of that no more that's not the right time never it's not the right time never you're hyping them up to go kick the ball off I'm gonna give you another example when you when we used to play the Pro Bowl after the um after the super bowl so we won the super bowl we went down there that was like 2008 or whatever it was right and we down there and you know how they introduce ray when he come out in baltimore yes so we sitting over there you know we getting chummy we talking whatever that i die and we made the mistake of telling them boys like yo hey right we hey we like to see you come up out of there boy you come down there you get you some artificial grass y 'all ain't even got y 'all ain't even got real grass.
24:26They put you a clump of real grass. They put him a clump of real grass. They play him three songs. We like, dude, we'd be sitting over there. The Declaration, which is full of these beautifully rendered, you know, sentences and paragraphs about Enlightenment ideals, does also have this darker history to it.
24:48James Harrison:Why is it important for the darker part of the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution, why is it important that Americans know about it? Well, if we don't understand the full context in which our nation was founded, we won't understand the full context in which our nation now finds itself. 25:49James Harrison:He would just shout one line, and it would murder. Marie! Lunch! Bill Burr. Let's talk about the best moments that we had on the road. I would love a cocktail. Dude, Joe could get last row middle seat on a Southwest Airlines flight. Joe, how was your flight? It was great. The guy on Penn State moving on the field, and the player thought Joe was his former coach. And he hugged him, and he hugged him, and Joe just went with it. And the guy goes, what are you doing here, coach? And Joe just goes, man! And you walk in and it is bananas. I mean, it's a feast for the eyes. And I was like, it's not my thing either, but we're here.

27:35With the rookies, be like, hey, hey, watch when they call Ray out. This shit go get you hyped, bro. Yeah. Man, they found that out, man. We ain't see Ray come out the tunnel again, man, when we played in Boston. They smart, though. They smart. Yo, we ain't get to see Ray come out the tunnel again. We like, yo, they going to play three songs for this dude, man. He going to come out the one. He going to look around. I said, they going to play the other one. That's when he going to reach down and grab that grass. He going to watch that off again. As soon as they hit that third one, he going to go ahead and hit the dance.
28:09James Harrison:That had to be the most lit intro, bro. He's like a wrestler. That had us hype, bro. We was like, oh, yeah, we about to smash these boys. That's his intro. That's crazy. Man, we ain't getting no more defense intro when we played them, man. They was introducing the offense all the time, bro. Yeah, for sure. I'm not doing nothing to get y 'all hype. Man, we had a couple of season-ending injuries, though, man. Oh. Yeah, Najee tore his Achilles, man. And James Conner, I believe, did something to his ankle. Dang. They don't know exactly. I don't think they know exactly what Conner did to us. But Najee popped his Achilles, though.
28:52God, damn, man. You can see it when he steps. Like, it's crazy.
28:57James Harrison:Oh, my goodness. Yeah, prayers out to Najee and James. Both of them. Yeah, for sure. Really good, dude. I ended up playing. I played with both of them. Did you end up playing with James or Najee? Yeah, I played with Connor. I didn't play with... I don't think so. Both solid, solid, solid. I don't think I did. So, you know, I guess now is the time to let you... Oh! Is it the time to talk about the Brownies? The Brownies. Oh, okay. Yeah, so the Browns beat the Packers 13-10. And, oh, such, you know, such a great game. You know, they finally got to win, you know. Hey, man, let me tell you something, Debo.
29:43James Harrison:Debo, it's my time real quick. It's my time real quick. All right. Any given Sunday is what I like to say. Because the Packers, the Browns weren't given a chance. Not a chance in the world to beat the Packers. I ain't going to lie. I gave them a chance, though. You ain't giving them a chance, Debo. I promise you. And I'm going to tell you, listen, bro. I'm going to tell you why I gave them boys a chance. Why'd you give them a chance? This is why I gave them boys a chance. Please tell me why. People don't realize this, but Cleveland, as of right now, is number one defense, bro. Yes. They're number one in the rush.
30:20And that's what I want to talk about. They're number three in the pass. Uh-huh. Now, even if you go the last three games, dude, oh, well, maybe people ain't run the ball. They didn't do this. They didn't do that. the last three games, they're still holding people to like 2.3 yards a pop, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, something like that, dude. The Browns? Listen, they played Cincinnati with a full team. They played Baltimore, and now they just played Green Bay. They held Cincinnati to 46 rushing. They held the Ravens to 45 rushing. Green Bay got the most at 81 yards rushing, which was still only like 2.5, 2.6 a carry.
31:05Yes. Nobody has gotten more than 240, 250 yards on these dudes. Well, this defense dude held the Ravens to 242, Cincinnati to 141, and Green Bay to 230, dude. You held Green Bay to 230. it's looking like they just need the offense to not turn the ball over bro and special teams to do their part like this if the offense doesn't turn the ball over man the defense continues to play like this they will be in the fight every game and this is sort of scary when you think
31:48James Harrison:about it. This is what I'm trying to tell you, Debo. The Browns' defense is always good. Always solid. Not like this. No, no, no. No, no, no. Not like this. No, no, no, no. But still, the Browns, they're always going to be competitive, and especially now with this defense, with Malik Collins, with Alex Wright, with Miles Garrett, that pass rush, them getting after the quarterback, they were putting so much pressure on Jordan Love. He was uncomfortable the entire game. And like you said, you've been speaking good facts about the way that their rushing defense is good, their passing defense is good, their secondary, Greg Newsome.
32:27James Harrison:They ain't played no bums now. They done played against teams that are good quality. And you know who else is hooping? My man Delpit. He's actually, ever since he opened his mouth, he's going to put eyes on himself. He's been doing nothing but hooping, making tackles, making game-changing plays, intercepting the ball. And then when he ran, did you see after he made the pick and he ran and ran Jordan Love smack over. Get off me. I just love his just everything. You got to see the, oh, it was crazy. So the Browns defense plays unbelievable. And I'm super happy for that kicker too because he missed the extra point and he missed the field goal.
33:04James Harrison:And week one, people been trying to get him fired. So my man Schmidt, shout out to Schmidt for making the longest field goal walk off in franchise history. Ooh, I did not know that one. Yes, yes, yes. So the defense just played so good that they only gave up 10 points. And in that fourth quarter, nothing, nothing at all. So shout out to the Browns defense for coming out there and balling. Shout out to the kicker for coming out there and making that game-winning field goal walk-off, longest in franchise history. I'm just very happy for the Browns because the defense played so well. The offense, they did what they had to do in certain situations.
33:42James Harrison:You know, oh, my bad, my bad. The rookies, Jenkins, my running back, number 10. He put the offense on his back when he needed to. He was running that ball at the fourth quarter like a man possessed. So Flacco didn't really have to do too much. We just handed it off to the rookie, and he told us. He took us to the promised land on the offensive side. So shout out to him in the fourth. Shout out to defense for the whole game, fighting, only giving up 10 points to the Packers. Let's go, Brian. Yeah, like 10 points and still only, what was it, 230 yards? Like that's, to the Packers, that's crazy. That's just, I would, like I said, I thought like they had a fighting chance.
34:23They just needed. I don't believe you. Dude, honestly, I swear. I thought they had a fighting chance.
34:30James Harrison:Before the week starts, I'm going to start, we got to start asking what are we thinking going into the game. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I'll let you know. I thought they had a fighting chance, bro. And it was all because the defense. As long as they don't turn the ball over, they give the defense a little time to rest, you know, try and get a field goal here and there, just, you know, get a 6-8 play drive, something, give them time to recoup, get their stuff together and get back out there, dude. It's, yeah. That was a good, it was a good display on both sides, too, because at the end of the day, Green Bay, their defense only gave up, they gave up 13 points.
35:06James Harrison:You know what I'm saying? And they didn't do too bad. The Browns ended up, I mean, it was basically a good time. The Browns' defense outplayed Green Bay's defense. They did. And that's really what it came down to, you know? Like I said, I gave them a fighting chance, but I didn't think they would win, but I did give them a fighting chance. I gave them a fighting chance. I'm like, yo, they got a fighting chance, but it's a lot of things that go into it, you know, especially when you're talking about the offensive side of the ball, you know. Yeah, I'm not going to lie to you. I didn't expect the defense to hold Jordan Love to looking like that, especially like going into the third.
35:48James Harrison:Jordan Love made a couple of errant decisions too, running them to the sideline, not throwing them all the way, going into the fourth quarter, and then just a couple of those like – I didn't understand that. Like you right there. You right there. Throw the ball out of bounds. Yeah, and then a couple of those dump – like a couple of those third downs, passes to the running back. Just high. Just way out of bounds. Like, they couldn't even really touch the ball. So, just a couple of those plays looked a little crazy. Then the game-winning pick. Then the play when he threw the slant right to him, like, looking right at Delpit.
36:18James Harrison:Fell right off of his man and throw the pick. So, I didn't think that Jordan loved. The Browns outsmarted him at the end and they just looked uncomfortable. Yeah. Yeah. Especially, like I said, the defense. It's just, dude, this was their first takeaway this year? And they're 1-3 and you are just plus one or sorry, you only have one takeaway this year on defense? Do you know how stellar and solid they got to be playing, dude? Like Micah Parsons said after the game, sometimes just like today, you shit the bed.
37:05this is just the reality of it. It happens to the best teams. Even the best Super Bowl champions make mistakes, and they pay for it early. You got to go back to the history of the champions who've played, who, of the history of the champions and who they've played in the games they should have won. It's just that competitive. I know what he's talking about for sure. Man, come on, D-Bo. We know that's anything. He said they shit to bed. They ain't shit to bed. They ain't shit to bed.
37:39James Harrison:No. Y 'all walk into that stadium, them dudes get paid. And when you think about going against Miles and all that stuff, you walking in there 2-0, thinking it's sweet, you better go in there knowing you about to be in a real fight. No matter what they record's talking about, this defense don't play. You know what I'm saying? So if your offense is like, oh, yeah, we about to go in here, you know what I'm saying, figure it out, we're going to beat the Browns. No, you're not. You know what I'm saying? Man, every game is a different game, any given Sunday. That's why they really say it because the levels, it's so competitive in the league.
38:09James Harrison:And there's so much team, like there's a balance. Like everybody's around the same. Everybody's salary cap is the same for a reason. These dudes are getting paid also. You know what I'm saying? They may not figure out a way to always win it, but once they get out there, these dudes are hooping. So you can lose any game that you walk into. Oh, yeah. No question. it's just a small difference between a guy that's starting, a guy that's on practice squad, between a guy that's on the edge of that pro bowl, all pro. It's not a lot of difference. It's about working and being able to be consistent. The consistency is the hard thing, I think.
38:51What is the average three and a half years? Average NFL career. So, you know, that's a... But the Browns, yeah, I ain't gonna lie, they scare me a little bit. Like, I don't think I'm gonna be making no bets when we play unless, you know, I talk to you about that. Shoot me offline. So the Eagles, they beat the Rams last second field goal got blocked. And then he ran it in. He really didn't need to run it in. So... Man, he took that thing for six. That's a big man. was Hall-Lynn. Yeah, for sure. They blocked two field goals, right? Yes. Yeah. They blocked two field goals. Last time they blocked two field goals was September 21st, 75, against the Giants.
39:38Five years to the day, history repeated. This time, walk-off winner. Yo. Rams came in there. Go ahead. They did what everybody thought they needed to do to beat the Eagles. And that was stop Saquon. And it did not. It worked for the first half. Yeah. It worked. It worked for the first half. And then your boy. Yeah. That boy went out there in the second half. I think the third quarter, he was like 10 or 12. I think for the second half, he ended up like 17 to 24 for two 10, three tubs. and special teams come through at the end with the game-saving block.
40:28James Harrison:Yes. Can he do it? Yes, we just got the answer. We didn't have an answer last time we made this question, but I think right now we got confirmation that he can get it done. So what did you think of halftime, though, Brad? like this is at halftime i'm thinking okay the rams defense they're stopping the run they haven't really thrown the ball they're going to have to open up the playbook you know what i'm saying like there's they're feeling they're loading the box we're not letting the ball go i knew that they were jayla hurtz was going to have to eventually start throwing the ball and when he did start throwing the ball it showed davante smith and my man uh my man aj brown were just playmakers they They were doing one-on-ones out there, one-on-one.
41:19James Harrison:They had him in one-on-one coverage because they were trying to stop the run. They were making sure they're like, look, you're going to throw the ball. And when he had man-to-man one-on-ones out there, A.J. Brown was making those catches and then getting yak, breaking the tackle individual, get off me, and now let me get up the field. It was opening up the playbook. So then once they started doing that, two high safeties. You can now run the ball a little bit better. So it was just able to – the offense – Dude, they only had 33 yards in the first half, and it was negative one-yard passing. Brother, you had to do something.
41:49James Harrison:You had to change it up. They were smashing that run, so then you had to let Jalen Hurts just use your weapons. Throw the ball. Like, if you're saying we know you can, you don't have to, but in this particular situation, the run is getting stopped. You can develop the pass, too. You can open up the run bypassing. If they had the thing boxed up, show them dudes that you can go one-on-one on the outside, and they will have to back up the safeties. They will have to back up the corners. You know what I'm saying? Then you can start handing the ball off to Saquon. So I think, go ahead. I think, I think the Eagles did what people were allowing them to do at that, at that time.
42:22And that was, you know, why would I complicate it if I know running this rock and doing a pass here and there is what's going to get it done? Like that's, you know, it's simple, you know, like, like, like they said, you know, if you can't stop it, why would I stop running it? You know? I feel you. And we got to the point to where they were like, yo, if you're going to beat us, you're not going to beat us with him running all over us. You're going to have to figure out how you go get that ball down the field. And then they were like, oh, shit. Oh, we do have A.J. Brown.
42:58James Harrison:We do have A.J. Brown. And you got to stop passing, too. If you're down 26 to 6 or something like that, if you keep running the ball. Dude, 26 unanswered? Like, come on. You're eventually not going to score no points. I mean, the time is eventually going to run out. So you're going to have to start airing the ball. I think they did really good. They're being able to change it up from Jalen Hurts showing. He can toss the rock. And then the Rams still played a good – they still had a chance to win the game. But Buddy blocked the field goal, two special teams blocks. They had two field goal blocks, and then the Rams – There was a bunch of field goals blocked this Sunday, dude.
43:36There was a bunch of them blocked.
43:38James Harrison:The games were crazy. All of the football games were wild. But then at the same time, the Rams, I would say, the reason why they had two field goal blocks and in the red zone, they were one for four in scoring touchdowns. They got field goals out of it, but they got no touchdowns. They got one touchdown and three field goals. That's 16 points. If you get two touchdowns, you know what I'm saying, and then two field goals, you lost by a little bit of points, but just not being able to convert in the red zone, being able to only come up with one touchdown out of four trips, You got to score on those drives.
44:11James Harrison:And I think that's kind of what hurt them also. Yeah, for sure, man. I mean, like you said, he came alive in the second half. And he actually ended the game. Philly ended the game with more passing yards than the Rams did. 202 to 196. Like, that's crazy. A.J. Brown said it after the game. Personally, I truly believe we've got some good players on this team. And at times, you can feel like we're being conservative. And I don't think it should be like that. Let your killers do their thing. Let your killers do their thing and play fast and play aggressive. Not saying that we haven't been, but me personally, that's what I would like.
44:55So he's saying that they was holding him back. He's saying, well, they wasn't holding him back. They was doing what was working. If I don't need to change it, why would I change it? Why would I complicate, you know, what I'm putting in if I know that these six plays is go get it done and ain't nobody been able to do nothing about it? So, I mean, I understand what he's saying and I understand the thought process of just doing what it is that's working and make them stop it before you change it. I could I could see it both ways, but I feel you.
45:29James Harrison:I think I can see the same thing you say both ways. you're not if you're gonna run the ball and it's not uh aesthetically pleasing to you it doesn't matter as long as you're winning games you're gonna be able to get out of the stadium and it's working but I could feel them when you're down by 19 points and you need to start airing it out we need to have that option like okay now we need to start passing the ball you could do that a little bit earlier in the game just knowing if if if the run's not working and they're still and they're manning up outside don't run it when they're manning up outside single high now let's go to the pass just being able to kind of switch it up the looks from the defense kind of shows is what we're doing.
46:02James Harrison:So I think just making sure that if the run is working, we're going to run the ball. We're going to do what we have to do to win. It's not because it's what looks good. It's not because what everybody else is saying or whatever. What we're going to do is what we have to do to win games. Sometimes that's going to be throwing the ball a lot more. Sometimes that's going to be running the ball a lot more, but we have the options to do both. So just, you know, I feel them with just wanting to get more involved, wanting to do like, look, end of the day, when it's the second half, you see what I'm capable of.
46:29James Harrison:When you do, just throw me the ball. When the ball is in my hands, I can make plays. So I understand what he's saying. But at the same time with the team, we're trying to win games. We're going to hand the ball off to Saquon. We're milking this clock. If they start coming up like this, I know what you're saying now. Obviously, we're going to get to that probably a little bit earlier. But it's only the third game of the season. They're undefeated. They're going through these problems while they're still winning games. So it's a whole lot easier to figure it out. Yeah, I like an offense that runs the ball.
46:56That's just me because it gives you time for your defense to rest. And on top of that, it wears down their offense. It takes time off the clock. You know, everything, if you can run the ball effectively, it's so much easier and it runs smoother, you know, when you can do that. Especially, you know, you go six, seven minutes here. You know what I'm saying? You get two of those drives together, you know, and two, three of those drives together in a half. And, you know, after two, three, we're into the second half already. If you're able to score touchdowns and your defense can get off the field and not allow them to score, I mean, there's no need to stop doing what's effective.
47:38James Harrison:I'm with you, Debo, because there's nothing like a team running down your throat that you can't stop. Yeah, for sure. The clock is still running. They're ahead of the sticks. It's second and four. They run for five. It's a first down. There's nothing you can do about it. It feels like, all right, let's restart. Let's restart. Let's get ahead of the sticks. But every time they tote the ball, if they're ahead of the sticks and the clock is still running and they're just moving the chains, there's nothing worse than that. Then you're sitting there like this. Guys, let's stop them. Like, what are we doing?
48:08James Harrison:Do something. Do something. Man, the Eagles got away with another tush push, man. They got away with a false starter in tush push in the first quarter. Do you do you think it's time to ban the tush push? I say review every tush push. you want to review and slow down when somebody is tackling somebody or you're calling some type of hip drop or something like that like you're reviewing that review the tush push like you said they can't move period they can't defense can move as long as you're not in the neutral zone they can't move at all before that ball snaps so i don't care if it's a split hair before there's no way you saw the ball move you're just guessing you're anticipating you're guessing yes so that's like that's like one of those drinks um i know i was the edge on field goal block and some of those field goal blockers there i mean some of the holders they'll look down look up and flash the hand and soon as that hand flashes the ball is coming out so we would be taught sometimes we'd go in there and study and study and coach would be like this if i give you to go go off the hand like if it's for the game winner we gotta go get it man listen we're gonna go at the same time.
49:24James Harrison:As soon as he flashes, the ball is coming. We're not looking at the ball. I'm looking at his hand. That ball is going the same time you're taking off. So I'm like, there could be some type of anticipation there on the offense, but that's not legal. No question. You can't move until that ball moves. Can't move until the ball's not. Yeah, they clearly can't even get that corrected after pointing it out. You know what I'm saying? I think they got to slow it down. slow-mo every push push and that'll make it fair that's that's the only thing i can i can i can see happening say one more time what will make it fair devo review every push push yes yes it should be an automatic review you do a push push it's an automatic review we got to see if you off size or if you false start and it can be quick review and right you're like we don't gotta have a referees game right here we like this boom boom look at that tell us y 'all got super duper slow mo you saw buddy take off before riffing bam nope jump quick like we don't need you to take all day they see what's going on the declaration which is full of these beautifully rendered you know sentences and paragraphs about enlightenment ideals does also have this darker history to it.
50:44James Harrison:Why is it important for the darker part of the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution? Why is it important that Americans know about it? 53:06James Harrison:and hugged him and Joe just went with it. And you know, the guy goes, what are you doing here, coach? And Joe just goes, man. And you walk in and it is bananas. I mean, it's a feast for the eyes. And I was like, it's not my thing either, but we're here. When in Rome. Top athletes, chefs, musicians, everybody. Listen to Paul's Best Podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So I'm with you. Quick review. Listen, man. The Bears? The Bears. Oh, my goodness. The Bears went out and did that to them girls. That was the most surprising. That was the most surprising.
53:42Them boys, man. That was crazy. That was crazy. For sure. Caleb went on ahead out there. He lit them up for tussies. I think he finally got that paint off his nails so he could throw that ball right. See, there you go. Worry about the wrong thing. I was just saying, change the equilibrium, all that, you know. I don't know. He went out there, buddy. Let me tell you something. That was crazy, though.
54:03James Harrison:Go ahead. What you think about that was crazy, though, Debo? Listen, I'm not even going to make like I expected that. I didn't expect that. And Dallas is not who we was thinking they might become, and they are who they have been. And that is it. Like, I don't know, man. man you let Kayla Willems go out there and you know he's the first player with 225 plus passing yards and three or more passing touchdowns in any half this season he's the first one the same guy that man he he was having trouble the previous trouble the first two weeks bad I mean, like, I don't understand it. And Dallas, their defense is just boo-boo, man.
54:58Like, it's bad. You got five touchdown passes on Dallas that are 25 yards or more. Like, this season, like, that's crazy. Already, it's only three games in.
55:12James Harrison:Bro, it did not look good. From the flea flickers to people running wide open on over routes. Right, dude. And then C.D. went on and got hurt the very first quarter. Like, that was bad. He rode his ankle. We had George. He was doing something. But when you can't pass the Dak through to him, hit him right in the hands, that turned into a pick. We just can't be having that. So, yeah. And then C.D. Lamb, too. Like, when we said they were getting bombed up over the tight ends and stuff running up the field. We had my man Trayvon Diggs just slipping when they're playing man-to-man. He runs like 10 yards wide open down the field for the touchdown.
55:55James Harrison:Yeah, and I think that was that flea flicker, wasn't it? No, no, no. The flea flicker, that was when he ran a big seven route on that. But I'm saying the one with CD was him in number 15. Oh, okay. He slipped. He went the quick jamming. He went the quick jamming. Yes, yes, yes. Just plays like that, man. And then on the offensive side, they weren't really able to get anything too much going. You know, like, I mean, CD going down definitely didn't help. George dropping some passes. But, I mean. Well, it was still kind of late in the game. Don't know if that would have been an actual comeback. But the one that tipped and got intercepted, I don't know if they still would have been able to.
56:34They wouldn't have been able to win. You know what I liked that I saw Chicago doing when they got up and Dallas was trying to drive? they stuck with playing the defense they had been playing all game. They didn't go to that sit back, keep everything in front of me, and inside defense, dude. Make them earn everything. Yes. Yes. They made them earn everything. And when it came down to it, they just couldn't finish it out. It was too much. Plus, they had lost their number one receiver. So that looks bad. But Jerry, you know, he still believes the Cowboys are playoff calendar. My braces be popping me up.
57:21Despite the one and two start, man, he says they still playoff caliber. What do you think?
57:28James Harrison:Man, what do you think? I don't think so. I mean, they got to – you can't just be – I don't know. I don't I'll say this who do you think is going to make it from their side I'm looking at you got Minnesota you got Green Bay you got Detroit right Washington Detroit Green Bay Washington That's for sure. How many is it? Six or eight? It's eight now, right? I think it might be eight now. I mean, they got a shot. You know what? Playoff caliber. They got a shot. They could be playoff caliber. What you going to do? What you going to do? You can be playoff caliber, but I don't think you're going to do nothing.
58:27James Harrison:I mean, hopefully, like, I mean, playoff caliber. The Cowboys always have so much talent. So much talent. Arizona and San Fran over there too, right? Yeah. I mean, it's – but let's see. In the division, first they got to win. Either they win the division or get a wild card spot. Who in their division? That's what I'm saying. It's going to be – it's Philly? No. It's the Commanders. It is the Giants. And it's the Cowboys. Yeah. They coming in three. And then you still got – That's what I'm trying to say, man. I don't know about that. They might not be. If they go to the end, it's going to be eight, and they're going to be playing at somebody else's venue.
59:14James Harrison:And then they're going to – it's like, but then what? Do you know what I'm saying? All he was looking for was playoff caliber. All he's looking for is playoff caliber. You know what I'm saying? He knows, end of the day, I was watching the jury, the dynasty joint on the Cowboys. Loved it. Amazing. Ain't no more dynasties, man. They can kick rocks. that's all we're with boys ain't been them boys since I was just getting into high school Jerry not tripping though cause he got that dough Jerry tripping he wanna win man don't get me wrong the dough helps no question about it he definitely wanna win but I'm just saying he's not going to get rid of any control he's not gonna let anybody else make any decisions so he gonna do what he wants to do regardless for sure that's a given though but he wants to win dude I think he definitely wants to win I know it hurts when they don't win it hurt bad them Colts out here man they doing things though man they bopped on the Titans man 41-20 like I don't what they got going on over there what's his name you know his name Debo what's the quarterback name Danny Adams Jones, man.
1:00:34James Harrison:No, it's Danny Dimes. For now, we're going to call him Danny Dimes. Bruh, I don't... He's pulling the Saquon Barkley, okay? Yes. He had to get out of New York. Had to. Sometimes. What's over there in New York, man? I don't know. I don't know. I ain't been there. I ain't been there in the Giants locker room. I ain't been there, so I'm not going to speak on them about something I don't know. But I can tell you... Dude, the Colts is doing something. Wow. I think they punted, what, the first time this week? Oh, yes. They only punted one or two times this week? Two punts all season. Two punts in three games, brother.
1:01:14James Harrison:That's efficiency. That is keeping your defense off the field. That is putting you in a position to win. That is everything. And Jonathan Taylor. Oh, he's killing them. I mean, when you had that... Did you see the run, dude? They didn't... I don't, a bowling ball, like they couldn't do nothing with him. Like he was breaking. Everything, running through people, bro. Right, running through them, past them. Yes. They look good. They look good. Danny Dimes out there throwing the ball beautifully. And then with Taylor, you know what I'm saying, being able to tote the ball so good. Like I like what they got going on over there.
1:01:53James Harrison:And sometimes, like you said, it wasn't Daniel Jones, obviously. Sometimes you got to just change your scenery. Go somewhere else where you don't feel like all of the – it's not all on you. You got people that are doing their jobs around you. They're 111. Listen, man. All you got to do is his name. Bing, bing. John Vitello. They were about to fire the GM and the head coach over Saquon last year. Now, hold up. Now, hold up. now Danny Dimes hey y 'all ain't doing something right over there man y 'all ain't I don't know what's going on but something gotta change I don't know listen you done had two come up and a boy got a Super Bowl and he over there stroking that thing like I thought that he he would have been out the league by now and now he go over there and just revamped.
1:02:56Wasn't Richardson over there or something take the job from him?
1:03:00James Harrison:Yeah. They was laughing like, oh, now you got Richardson and Daniel Jones fighting for the starting quarterback position. Now they look amazing. Daniel Jones has done nothing but perform. I'm super happy for him because sometimes, like you said, it's the scenery. That's the same Daniel Jones that was in New York. Maybe it was too much to see in New York. That was the thing. Everybody see too much. They need to get something that was a little less. Get to it. A little more chill. Yeah, a little more chill. Just go to Indiana, and you can go see the Pacers. Go chill, and then vibe up. Handle business.
1:03:36You ain't got to worry about paparazzi and all that, huh?
1:03:40James Harrison:No, you ain't got to worry about the New York lights, all that. Too much. Might get his eyes big. Dude, Russell over there right now, he getting booed by the Giants fan. They hollering for Jackson Dirk. The Chiefs went over there and beat the Giants 22-9. Little sideline scuffle. Little Sunday scuffle. You know Kelsey and Reed. They like to bump Chessers every nine in. That just get them going. I think just go rejuvenate them, get them where they need to go. They got a tight bond, bro. Those dudes are homies. They talk. They kicking. They going to be good. They're going to be good. yeah bro so they said he's he's gonna get him fired no way who they said they said I believe it's either Russ or Daniel Jones one of them either the way Russ playing or the way Daniel Jones is playing one of them or both
1:04:50What's your boy's name? Dabo? No, Daybo. Daybo? No, Daybo. Yeah, Daybo. Yeah, he better. They might get him out of here. Daybo might be looking for a new job after this year, man. It ain't looking too sweet over there. Did they win a game yet?
1:05:11No. And Russell looked, I think they tried to get Russell a little leash. Russell out there hanging people out to dry. They trying to kill him. He trying to get receivers. He trying to get people killed.
1:05:23James Harrison:He got himself some string because of last week when he made them two, when he brought them back with those bombs to keep them in the game, they still end up losing. But it looked like I thought they was going to beat the Cowboys last week. And then this week, it just got ugly out there. I think maybe every bomb he threw was either intercepted or way off. I've seen him do that with the Steelers. He would throw a pass, and it's like you're not even giving a guy a chance to even catch it because it's so far off or out of bounds. I don't know if that's just him not wanting to get an interception or I don't know what it is.
1:06:03James Harrison:No, because that's normally his best pass, but was he getting hit? Was the pressure looking crazy? Not really. Yeah. Not really, bro. They got to get up out of there. I don't think Brian... Get that boy up out of there, man. He done let Daniel Jones go, and he done let Saquon walk. Isn't that more too? Isn't that some of their management? Balling. They both balling. Crazy balling. Both of them was not like up for MVP balling. Everybody was talking about old Danny Dines was... Hey, man, he ain't going to get rid of him. He can't play in the league. That's what everybody was saying. Like, nah. This right here, this right here tell me something ain't being done correctly over there.
1:06:56Like, this dude playing at MVP level right now.
1:07:01James Harrison:Bro, if you just took away the name and didn't know it was him and said his numbers. That's the crazy thing. I'm like, it's Daniel Jones. Yeah, that's what's messing your mind up. You got to take the name away and just look at the number, dude. That's where you got to go blind stats with it. And you'll be like this. Oh, man, that dude right there is balling. And then you'll see his picture. Daniel Jones. You're like this. Damn, that's Daniel Jones? He's hooping. So he's deserving. His numbers, if you didn't just take it away from him, the history of you know about him, that dude's balling right now.
1:07:31Dude, you know what would be? Why? Colts. Eagles. Super Bowl. Oh, my. That'd be crazy. What is the Colts in the... Being the war horses.
1:07:48James Harrison:Everybody getting fired. Colts win the Super Bowl, bro. Daniel Dimes and everybody from... Everybody from over in New York is getting fired because they done let go of two Super Bowl champions.
1:08:04You trying to get somebody fired, man. Don't be doing that. Don't be doing that, man. You the one that said it. Hey, I'm just saying, if it was me... I would, I can't own a team though because I think I would, I wouldn't hire that type of, I wouldn't, I think I wouldn't, I feel like I would know better. I would know people that know ball and know how to, how to, how to use and, and, and, and compliment their players. You know what I'm saying? Like, like you got to make these guys feed into believe something, you know what I'm saying? And like, I don't know. I think when you get players that are respected, that can actually coach and you make them coaches and you have players coming in that know them, that's a level of respect and admiration that comes with that just from that being your coach.
1:09:03You know what I'm saying? You know. Yeah, yeah. And I think that, you know, it's something that, I don't know if a lot of Owners Or
1:09:19Head coaches that are in that position Actually look at But it's an automatic Like buy-in you know what I'm saying Like You got Joe Hayden He coaching the corners You know what I'm saying That's an automatic buy-in As I say, look at your body at work and say, OK, he could tell me something that maybe fucking impossible or close to impossible. But he's telling me this because he's done it. He knows it's difficult. That was one of the things with Coach Bucks. I was like, Bucks is the greatest linebacker coach I ever had. And I'm like, it's easy to relate to him because he's going to be like, yo, I know this is hard.
1:10:05I know it's difficult, but this is what I need you to do or at least try and get done. I know it's hard. We've done it. Everybody got something a little dirty about their job. Yes. You know what I'm saying? Like sometimes as a corner, you got to come in there. Well, you used to be able to cut them down, but now you're risking your life running up in there on that suite. Right. Sometimes you got to go there. You know what I'm saying? it's the it's the it's the same thing with hey sometimes you're gonna be sitting in that six and the tackle and the tight end go double you you got to find a way to hold that you got to grab for dirt and stay in there you're blue out of there you're leaving your other teammates out
1:10:48James Harrison:to dry exactly yeah and that was good like the new york the jets coach aaron glenn uh he was my defensive back coach at cleveland and like like you said and then a cordial lake was my defensive the back coach for the Steelers. Those two dudes just being able to tell me, like, you can't cover everything. But when I tell you, like, at the end of the day, on this coverage, we're not allowing this. But if this happens, catch and tackle. Move on to the next play. Like, some coaches would tell you that you got to be able to cover everything. But if you're trying to cover everything, you're not covering nothing.
1:11:21Hey, listen. I'm trying to tell you, man. They don't make sense with that. Coaches that try and change defenses. Like, the defense is how it is. but you want to change it to catch this one nuance. And that was something that Coach LeBeau would tell us. He'd be like, okay, look, we go run this defense. And every defense has a weakness. Once you try and cover that weakness, you make another two or three that you got to cover. So he's like, yo, we go run this defense. Coach LeBeau didn't even use a call sheet, dude. He'd be on the sideline like this. He'd be like, all right, what they got out there.
1:11:55Oh, it's 22 personnel. All right, we go run this right here. blah blah blah go out there and run it and he'll tell us we get in the film room hey okay i called blah blah blah right here hey this play is on me i know they got i know they got eight yards this on me you know what i'm saying so like dick lebow's defense dude when it is ran correctly sure as he has assigned it that thing is unstoppable dude it's unstoppable i love it
1:12:24James Harrison:the way that they coach it too. Like you said, knowing that something might pop off and the coach being able to take accountability that we can't cover everything. But on this play, we just get them on the ground, get to the next one. All right, that's on me. That's on the call. Like that's our weakness right there. They hit us. That's a good play. Sometimes they're going to win some, but we're going to win more than they do. You know what I'm saying? It's like it's a chess game out there. No question, dude. Hey, look here, man. We running over right here, man. Oh, yeah, we over. Listen, we want to thank you guys for joining us for this episode of Debo and Joe.
