3:32Shannon Sharpe:We got to get into the shocking turn of events involving Max Crosby. Ocho, Raiders broke the news that the trade had sending Max Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens for two first round draft picks. had been rescinded. Raiders alleged in a statement that the Ravens had backed out of the agreement reached four days earlier. It was then reported that medical concerns arose during Cosby's physical and were a catalyst for the dissolution of the deal. Ravens GM Eric DaCosta said today, nobody is more except than him. Gutted by it, actually, big regret for me, but we will move forward as a football team. DaCosta added that losing Senator Tyler Lindenbaum to the Raiders, The Ravens envisioned a possibility of pairing Crosby with Hendricks, whom the team signed today.

4:21Shannon Sharpe:But Crosby's medical outlook prevented the possibility from materializing. Jane Slater reported that the Ravens considered renegotiating the Crosby trade to account for the team's discomfort with the edge-rushing's prognosis. Ultimately, however, the team opted to withdraw from the deal entirely. Ochoa, we don't normally see this. Now, the Ravens have been in a situation where, if I remember correctly, the Brock Marion, they really liked him, but they had a shoulder issue. Michael Brockers had a knee issue, and they rescinded the deal that was on the table. But you're talking about Max Crosby.

4:56Shannon Sharpe:He did have a meniscus injury. Reports are that he had been dealing with this all year. This happened and started bothering him in the offseason. He played through it. He ended up having surgery. and the type of surgery that he has, that's somewhere between a three and a six-month recovery time. And I don't know if it's a lateral meniscus or a medial meniscus, but that is a long because he had it torn, and I guess he had it repaired. If what the reports are true, that's a big timetable, but that puts him on to be recovered probably around June, Ocho. Training camp starts about six weeks later in late July.

5:33Shannon Sharpe:So who knows? Like I said, could be early June, could be late June, but still he would have three weeks, and I'm sure he'd be a limited participant, and you kind of build him up to get him ready to go come September. When you heard that the trade for Max Crosby had been rescinded, what did you think? And you're like, okay, what's going on?

5:54Chad Johnson:Yeah, I've never seen anything like that. I've never seen anything like that, especially a player like Max Crosby that's an impact player that makes your team exponentially better right away. Just his presence alone. The fact that it rescinded, I didn't know what was going on. And the first thing that dawned on me, well, maybe he failed his physical. Obviously, that's the only thing I could think of, because I know a player himself wouldn't say, you know what, I don't want to be here, and he lets the team know he doesn't – he rather wishes not to be here. But once that did happen, I thought about it.

6:25Chad Johnson:Well, understanding that they knew he had a knee issue, they knew about the – He had knee surgery. I knew about the knee surgery. I mean, I'm confused. What did you what did you expect the physical to look like? Obviously, he's in rehab. Obviously, he's recovering. He would probably be ready in time for football season to play. And the fact that he played on it and had 10 plus sacks or maybe 10 sacks this season. And he was forced to sit out the last the last two games of the season. I think he would be OK. He would recover. so I'm confused on why they chose to do this why they chose you know to rescind um to rescind uh him him being there it makes no sense to me and I like the fact that they were going to try to pair Hendrickson and Crosby together hell that they would have been hell on wheels if they were able

7:14Shannon Sharpe:to pull that off yeah I think if you really look at it Hendrickson might be a better pure pass rusher but overall i think because uh crosby plays the run so much better than hendrickson um i i think he gives him a dynamic and you know you got to have somebody that can set the edge and max crosby can set the edge but he could also become very disruptive pressure your quarterback and get to your quarterback hendrickson we've seen over the last couple of years in which he wasn't injured you see the numbers that he's put up he is a pure pass rusher drafted by the new orleans saints it ended up going to uh became a free agency and go to uh cincinnati and played extremely well um reports are that he probably took a little less money to go to baltimore but i think there were some hard feelings he's like you had years to get this done now all of a sudden you want me because i could potentially be going to a division rival oh joe look i i agree with you at everything that you said they knew he had surgery and maybe you're looking at it because you're looking at it long term because you got max cross i think you owe a hundred and something million dollars on that contract.

8:14Shannon Sharpe:Now, if I'm not mistaken, I could be wrong, and Chad, forgive me if I'm misspeaking. I think this is the only year in which he has guaranteed money on the contract. So now I'm looking at it, Ocho, and he's only 29. Okay, yes, he had surgery on the knee. But what doctors can see is that what you, to the naked, untrained eye can't see, is degeneration. Now, it looks good this year, but what happens next year and as we move on now you're talking about somebody that dealing with degeneration in the knee did you so i got a a a a very arthritic right knee same thing with the left knee and i got basically bone on bone on the lateral side which is the outside and i'm damn near bone on bone on the inside which is the medial meniscus and what has happened is i've gotten older stuff start to happen this is what and you see it what a lot of old people old children that didn't play sports.

9:10Shannon Sharpe:Your body just gets older and cartilage starts to dissipate and you get that bone on bone. I'm fortunate enough to be in a situation where I can afford, you know, great medical care and I don't have all these hangups. I can go, okay, what's going on? Now, insurance company wouldn't take care of whatever I had going on, so I had to pay for my own MRI. No problem. And then I go to one doctor. He says, okay, you can do X, Y, and Z. I go come to the doctor out here. I'm at Curlin' Job and go to the doctor that did my hips, and he looks at it like, well, Shannon, let me explain it to you. It's an X, Y, and Z, so forth and so on.

9:43Shannon Sharpe:But, you know, you got degenerative knees. And eventually, hey, I'm not telling you anything that you didn't already know. You're going to have to have knee replacement. If not one, probably both of your knees. But the right knee that I'm looking at now, you're going to have to. So I think that's what the Ravens doctors are looking at, that, okay, yeah, it's healing up properly, but we see some degeneration in this knee. and that's never good because, you know, to be on the hook for a need that could be, just me speculating. Now, I haven't talked to anybody, but as a doctor, you're probably looking at it as Ravens.

10:15Shannon Sharpe:Like, hold on now. In order for this to make sense to us, Ocho, because you got to realize what we're giving up. We're giving up the number 14 pick this year and who knows what that pick, you hope that if the trade would have gone through, we're somewhere 32. Ideally, it'd be 32. If we give up the 32 pick next year, you know what that mean Ocho? We won the Super Bowl. Most definitely. 31, that means we were in the Super Bowl. Honestly. 29, 30. 29, 30 Ocho, we were in the championship game. That's what I'm thinking about.

10:43Chad Johnson:You think about a player that's 29 years old. 29 years old. Yeah. A player like Matt Crosby, that's a disruptor. He's been in the NFL for a few years. And if you take an MRI, if you do an MRI of all the players that have eight, nine, or 10 years or more, I'm sure there's something alarming when everybody's MRI if you look at it. It always is. Nobody is 100 % healthy. Everyone has issues, whatever it may be. I just know the Mac Cross that we saw that was on the field last year with the Las Vegas Raiders was an impact player, and he made a difference every time he was out there, even during a losing effort.

11:17Chad Johnson:He was still a disruptor. He still was able to set the edge. He was still able to disrupt the past depending on who they were playing. It really didn't matter. No one can stop him. You can only hope to contain a player like Mac. So to let him go because of what you see, you know, in an MRI when he was already hurt last year and he's recovering, he has rehab and you doctors have the resources to get him as healthy as possible. And you know what you get with a almost healthy or even 90 percent or 95 percent Max Crosby. And you let him go and understanding what he can do for your team and making your team exponentially better.

11:51Chad Johnson:You know, especially if you pair with Henderson. I'm like, I don't I don't I don't I don't see. Listen, it's a business decision. On their part, I just understand as great as he is, even with a messed up knee where he's going to recover, where he's going to rehab, there's no way I sit him back. But obviously, listen, I don't own the goddamn Ravens. It ain't my decision.

12:13Shannon Sharpe:You ain't got$100-plus billion. I mean. But here's the thing, Ocho. What if I told you you can get a very similar player? Hold up. And this is what they do. Ocho, what if I told you I could get you a similar house for about$67 million cheaper. The payments will be cheaper monthly. Pretty much the same house. Maybe a 500-square-foot different. But it's going to be probably, over the course of it, I'd probably say you're about$28 million. But I'm going to get you a very similar house. Right there, a two-acre lot, nice size infinity pool, probably about 12 ,000 square feet. Seven baths, full baths, two half baths, eight bedrooms, gorgeous.

13:04Shannon Sharpe:A theater. If I told you I can get you a similar house to the one that you really love, but I'm going to save you$28 million, would you be interested? And, and, and, you're not going to have to give up those two first-round picks. Could I interest you in that?

13:23Chad Johnson:You could. You could. But I'm in the now right now. I'm in the now. I'm not worried about down the road. I'm trying to... If I'm playing poker, I'm putting all my cards on the table. I'm putting all the cards on the table and I'm trusting my doctors to an extent because I want Max Crosby here. You got to. I want Max Crosby here. We got Trey Henderson in the building. We're negotiating this contract. We have Max in the building. I'm taking all my cards and I'm putting on the table. I'm out. I'm out. But here's the thing. I'm taking a gamble. I'm taking a gamble.

14:00Shannon Sharpe:I'm not taking a gamble with two first-round picks. If I can get them at a lower rate, I can take a gamble.

14:06Chad Johnson:You talk about two first-round picks, you don't know what you're getting. There's no telling those two first-round picks

14:11Shannon Sharpe:that can come in to make any goddamn difference. But what if his knee doesn't hold up this year? What if that knee is bad and then I'm stuck? What if that knee is like Dante Culpepper's knee? Then what do I do? How did he look before they forced him? How did Dante Cole? We're not talking about Dante Cole, but we're talking about Max Crosby, the one that played all season. You got to base it on the medicals, Ocho. He was hurt all season long. He gave you 10 sacks. What are we talking about? No, he didn't. He gave. They made him sit out the last two games. If you go back and look at it, look at the numbers, Trey Henderson versus Max Crosby, 2019 to where they are now.

14:50Shannon Sharpe:Who has more sacks? Who has a high pressure rate? I don't have nothing in front of me. And I can get Trey Hendrickson. I can get Trey Hendrickson for about$5 to$7 million a year cheaper, and I don't have to give up ish. So I can get, Ocho, I can get you in this house, and you don't have to put a down payment.

15:08Chad Johnson:I understand what you're saying, Unc. But I understand what you're saying, but I'm looking at it. I'm looking at it from a different standpoint. As a team, as an organization. As a team, as an organization that continues to miss in the first round. As a team, as an organization that was horrible on defense last year, especially at the beginning of the season how bad our backing is or was constantly getting beat how can I make a difference I'm gambling this is what it's all about

15:36Shannon Sharpe:I'm gambling you make it seem like Trey Henderson is a bum the man had 35 sacks in two years I'm not calling him a bum you know I wouldn't do that I'm just saying he had two I'm not saying you are but I'm saying you make it seem like Max Crosby is just exponentially. Hold on. This is not a Miles Garrett situation now. If you're talking about Miles Garrett, okay, we're having a conversation because that's a two-time defensive player of the year and a guy that has like 125 sacks in like eight, nine years.

16:04Chad Johnson:But you mean to tell me I get the best of both worlds. I get the best of both worlds. Now, on one hand, I have a player who's injured, who just had surgery, but I understand what I get based off the small sample size of how I've seen him in Las Vegas and what he's done on an injured knee. I'm trusting the process. I'm trusting the doctors. I'm trusting rehab. I'm trusting all the doctors.

16:28Shannon Sharpe:So why do you have those doctors on payroll if you're not going to trust them to appropriately evaluate players that are coming in that you're going to have to spend$100 plus million and give up first round pick this year, which is number 14, and next year's first rounder. I can understand if it's 32, no problem. That means we won the Super Bowl. But, but, and I get it, Drew Brees had a very simple situation. Miami Dolphins flunked his shoulder on the physical. He goes to New Orleans and we know what happened. Now the same thing could happen.

17:01Chad Johnson:Same thing could happen. It could be, it could. Same thing could happen. You know what? And for them causing this mess, this is what I'm hoping, huh? This is what I'm hoping. I'm not a crystal ball, but most of the time since we've been on this show, you know, sometimes I've been right. 98 % of the time when I talk about players going certain places and it's come to fruition you know what would be a funny thing that the Bengals could do you know what would be a funny thing that the Bengals could do the Bengals could take the go get Max Crosby they could take that chance they can trust in our doctors they can trust in the rehab process and hoping he's back and knowing even with a non-healthy Matt Crosby we saw what he did last year we saw what he did last year where the Raiders force him to sit those last two games out.

17:47Chad Johnson:I would love for it to happen.

17:49Shannon Sharpe:I would love for it to happen. But the thing is, now you're saying, I can get Max Crosby. I don't have a problem. I have a problem if the knee is as bad as the Ravens doctors think it is. We don't know. I'm an untrained eye. You're an untrained eye. But if it's as bad as the doctors and the Ravens believe it is, two first-round picks us off the table. Now he goes somewhere else and I have to give up a third round pick or a second and a fifth round pick. Now that's a deal. But two first round picks and got to pay him$33 million a year. Come on, Ocho.

18:24Chad Johnson:I hear you. I hear you. But I'm willing. I'm willing to take the chance. I'm willing. Just like owners do all the time. They take chance. You're not going to be no GM. You're going to get me. You're about to be Nico Harris. You have to think about it, though. Hey, Chad, stay with me real quick. You have to think. opportunities like this to get a player that can change the direction of your franchise, especially defensively, don't come around that often. Don't come around that often. Even with the limb in Crosby, he makes a difference. We have to understand who we're talking about now. We're not just talking about just the guy.

18:56Chad Johnson:We're talking about a jag. No, no, no, no, no, no help.

19:00Shannon Sharpe:He's the top five. Exactly.

19:02Chad Johnson:So that's why I would be a little hesitant. Okay, we got a little hiccup. Okay, we understand he had surgery, you know, and I don't know. I don't know. I'm not sure. I understand how you feel on it. I'm curious. I don't have my chat up. I'm curious to see what the chat thinks about it, but I would take that chance.

19:19Shannon Sharpe:I think they're back and forth, Ocho. Now, it could be a total situation like this. Biles remorse. Like, damn. We gave up two first-round picks, number 14 pick this year. We don't know what 27 is going to be. We're going to have to pay him somewhere $32,$33,$34 million a year and the need situation. Or we can go get Trey Hendrickson, pay him$5 to$7 million cheaper per year and not give up anything. So, hey, and the thing is, you know, a house, I'm saving you$28 million, and you don't have to put your money down?

23:38Chad Johnson:I'm liking this. Hey, you play poker? I do play poker. Hey, I'm not a gambler, you know? I'm cheap. I'm financially celibate. I'm financially celibate. But in this situation, there's certain situations, at the gym, as an owner, understanding how bad I was, understanding where my weaknesses are, especially defensively. And it all started. We talked about it all season goddamn long. Not only was the back end bad, hell, they couldn't get no goddamn press on nobody. This is one where I'm folding. If I got a hand, I'm folding based on who the player is. Regardless of what that – No, you mean the pebble.

24:14Chad Johnson:You're going to play the hand.

24:15Shannon Sharpe:Fold means you throw your cards in. Oh, yeah, I'm throwing my cards in on Crosby. He coming. Come on. Come on. no if you can't throw your cards in you throw your cards in oh oh so in other words you said you're shoving you're going

24:27Chad Johnson:I'm going all in with the surgery whatever forget listen if I the costa is that his name the costa I would listen to what the doctor say okay what this is what you see okay you know what I'm taking a chance on him anyway I'm taking a chance on him with the book

24:44Shannon Sharpe:I'm not I'm not supposed because anytime you know you start getting 100 million you know you got to go to the owner with that so he's going to ask he's going to come in there he's going to want to sit down with Dr. Curl I know Leanne Curl she was the team doctor she was there when I was there he's bringing her in what do you think Doc look I understand the player that he is but it's risky

25:06Chad Johnson:I like I like I'm taking that risk we ain't talking about just anybody we talk about a top five player at this position that can change Can you imagine Henderson on one side, Crosby on the other? Like...

25:22Shannon Sharpe:Before you go any further, Diana Rossini reported, as part of the proposed trades for Max Crosby, the Ravens were also prepared to sign him to a revised contract that would have paid him near the top of past Russia's market. Max agent C.J. Labore responded with two words, fake news. So, everybody keeps saying that the goal, the objective was to sign Crosby and Henderson. Max Crosby's agent said basically that's not true. Crosby still could get traded, but they're not getting no first round on it. I don't believe they'll get a first round on it. Now, Ocho, now, because here's the thing with the Raiders, the Raiders spent a quarter of a billion dollars bringing in new players because they thought they were going to have Crosby's number off the books.

26:13Shannon Sharpe:Now, The question is, do you rehab him, keep him, or do you try to move him on? Me personally, you're definitely not getting two firsts. I don't believe you can get a first, but maybe a second and a fifth.

26:30Chad Johnson:Second and a third. Second and a third. Second and a third. Hey, Mr. Brown, Mike Brown, I know we got a lot of Bengal fans in the chat. Hey, he coming to Cincinnati. He coming to Cincinnati. Why not? Why not make it make sense? And you know what? I like I like the fact that the Ravens did this. I like the fact that the Ravens played played this game, you know, so basically they telling you how they feel about you anyway. So what better? What better message? What better message? You go to the right, go to a rival. And then not only that, now you got a chip on the shoulder. Now you don't piss him off.

27:05Chad Johnson:Oh, so that's how y 'all feel. OK, I'm going to show you. I'm going to show you. And how can he get him back? He can get him back by his plate on the field. He can get it. And that's the type of player he is.

27:17Shannon Sharpe:Do you think this hurts Baltimore's reputation around the league to have a deal in place? Because the deal is not consummated until the player, now he has to pass that team that's trading for him. Doctors, physical. They have to be okay with it. Do you think this hurts the Ravens' reputation? Because prior to this, for the most part, the Ravens' reputation has been perfect. Christine.

27:40Chad Johnson:No, absolutely not. Absolutely not. It's still the Baltimore Ravens. They still are who they are. When it comes to business, when it comes to money, players are going to go where they're wanted. Players are going to go where they're valued. If money talks, they will be there. Now, for us, the talking heads and those on the outside looking in, maybe we might feel this situation might ruin their reputation, but when it comes to business, when it comes to money, and when it comes to it's time to get paid and the team is willing to pay you, and if it happened to be the Baltimore Ravens and Mr. DaCosta and whoever else, they going.

28:16Right.

28:20Shannon Sharpe:I agree with you, Ocho. I just think the thing is, it became, you look at it like, damn, two first-rounders. I don't think anybody else had that kind of number. You hear Dallas had a first and a second. You hear some teams have some other picks, but nobody, two firsts. But still, even first, with a guy coming off surgery. See, that's what, and I was telling you last year about Kirk Cousins. I said, Ocho, you giving up$180 million guaranteed for a guy that's coming off Achilles, a quarterback that he wasn't mobile to begin with? And you draft a quarterback, and to exacerbate the matter, you take a quarterback with the number eight overall pick.

29:04Shannon Sharpe:And so that was my concern, is that a guy that's coming, If Max Crosby was 100 % healthy, Ocho, he had no surgeries. I think two ones is fine. But coming off the surgery, I'm a little more apprehensive than I would be had he not been coming off that surgery. I know sometimes you got to roll the dice. New Orleans was willing to roll the dice. But here the difference is with Drew Brees. Drew Brees didn't cost you any compensation, and basically it was a deal worth$10 million. We're talking about a deal worth north of$100 million in two first-round picks.

29:45Chad Johnson:I understand it. I know what you feel. But for those two first-round picks, they ain't coming in and making that kind of difference like Mac's. They ain't going to make that kind of noise if you get Mac Crosby out there healthy. I just know. So, look, he still could be dealt. Oh, he's going to be dealt. You know, right there. He's going to be at Covington Airport. I'm going to pick him up. Don't worry about it. Yeah, I'm going to pick him up. Don't worry about it.

30:17Shannon Sharpe:Which would be very interesting to know, Joe. I mean, that could happen. But what if he goes to the Browns? With Miles? With Miles Garrett.

30:25Chad Johnson:Oh, hell no. Hey, hey, hey, come on, man. Hey, come on, man. Come on. Hey, don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Hey, just the thought of that. That's nasty work. That's nasty work.

30:39Shannon Sharpe:Look, would I be surprised the Patriots get involved? Would I be surprised if the Eagles get involved? If there's a situation where the Bears could become involved. Anybody that think they're close, if they are past Russia away, I'm like, okay, we know two firsts are off the table. I'm not so sure a first is on the table. How do we get a deal done between you and I for Max Crosby? Ocho, you say you'd be willing to give him for two and a three. Okay. Maybe a two and a three this year and a four or a fifth, according to how he plays. The fifth goes to a fourth if he gets double-digit sacks, X, Y, and Z.

31:23Shannon Sharpe:But don't be surprised if somebody's like, ah, man, how they let the Eagles get this man? How they let the Patriots get this man? I mean... Because I saw the Patriots, they let Anthony Jennings go. Anthony Jennings go. Good pass rusher, solid pass rusher. Not great, but solid. Set the edge. You know, the one thing that the Patriots linebackers can do is set the edge. They're big guys, set the edge, great against the run, and pressure a little bit. So now you get him and you get Chase on and you get Milton Williams. Got something. or you pair him with the Bears, you got something. So, hey, Detroit.

32:08Shannon Sharpe:Because you hear somebody was looking at, I think, was it the Patriots or the Eagles was looking at Grinner from the Minnesota Vikings. Look, you can never have enough pass rushers. That's one thing you can never have. Just like pass catchers, you can't have enough of them. They're hard to come by. that is an art form so Max like he said he Dr. Neil Elitrach at Curling Joe performed the surgery he says he's tracking quite well but at the end of the day I don't think that's what he's supposed to say I think you know everybody's saying the agent's saying what he's supposed to say the doctor that performed the surgery said what he's supposed to say but at the end of the day, the Ravens and their medical staff have to feel comfortable enough when they go to Steve Bishotti, because Steve Bishotti is going to be cutting the check in excess of probably$100 million,$33 plus million.

33:04Shannon Sharpe:This year is guaranteed. No guaranteed money on Dallas Cowboy head team trainer, Daniel Cooper, was instrumental in the Ravens backing out of the trade. Cooper, who's a knee specialist, guess what, Ocho? He did the Patrick Mahomes surgery. Normally, he does surgery that's really, really complicated. The Patrick Mahomes surgery. You remember Jalen Smith. He signed up on the Jalen Smith. Remember his name? When he snapped his leg.

33:28Chad Johnson:He was a linebacker.

33:30Shannon Sharpe:Yep. Malik Neighbors. He reviewed Crosby's recent knee surgery MRI and deemed it too risky. Oh, man. Now, you're talking about, you're talking about, because here's the thing. You know, like, the kind of money that these teams have, they're sending you to the best of the best. Whatever, the spine guy, the head guy, the foot guy, the knee guy, the back, whatever it is, you going to the best. If you got something going on and they can't figure it out, they sending your ass to John Hopkins. They sending your ass to the Mayo Clinic. They sending you to MD Anderson. They sending you to the Cleveland Clinic.

34:06Shannon Sharpe:They sending you to the best of the best. And it's like, that's why they get the big bucks. That's why they get the big bucks. And most of the guys, You go into the Curlin' Joe office and you look up there on them jerseys on the wall. You see Aaron Donald. You see Clayton Kershaw. You see Verlander. You see Cooper Cup. And you see, if it's somebody, Russell Westbrook, you see those jerseys on the wall. Thanks, Doc. Gave me my career back. Got my life back. You understand why.

34:43Chad Johnson:Yeah, I got you. I just, I see them daughters. They, man. Hey, let me, you know. See, man, I'm hot, boy. I'm hot. I'm hot. I'm hot. Hey, but now you guys might be in play.

34:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I just don't like that.

35:00Chad Johnson:I had a doctor. To me, it almost seems like, you know, not other doctors from other teams are speaking out about it and speaking about the knee. And, like, it's decreasing his value and what he can get and what his worth is. I hate that. I don't like the fact that they're diminishing, you know, This young fellow who had read read rehab who had surgery and it's trying to do everything he can to get himself back into the plan shape and plan form and now we got all these doctors and I just

35:30Shannon Sharpe:That's what they do Ocho. I mean teams like if you got a back injury more times than not Dr. Watkins is gonna do it to do the surgery if you got foot problems you go into the guy Anderson. I think it's in Charlotte Hey, they got they pay these guys they put these guys on retainer and they pay these guys a lot of money. You mess up. They're going to fire your ass. They will fire you. There's a reason why Dr. Andrews.

35:55Chad Johnson:You see what happened with the Dolphins, right? With Drew Brees? Now this could be the same thing. They say, oh no. They say stay away from Drew. And look what he turned out to be. This could possibly be. I'm just saying. Now I understand what the doctors are saying. I understand these doctors know they get paid the big bucks. everybody heals differently now what you see might not be the way or the outcome in which you think

36:18Shannon Sharpe:based on what you see as a doctor it might not affect him ever again again max crosby tweeted everything happens for a reason believe nothing you hear in half of what you see i'm a raider i'm back run that ish

36:40damn

36:43Shannon Sharpe:Me personally, Ocho, I think there's a greater chance he's on some other roster. Eagles, the Bengals, the Patriots, Chicago. I think there's a greater chance he's on running those rosters as opposed to State. Now, he could. He could. He could.

36:58Chad Johnson:I'm going to tell you what my grandma used to tell me a long time ago. She used to tell me, boy, when you speak, you got to understand that the tongue is powerful. And you got to speak things into existence. Power in the tongue. You know, and today, you know. Oh, you finished, he tried to speak, he tried to speak to Cosby. Hey, hey, but by the powers invested in me, I'm hoping and praying that Brother Cosby, hell, he might be watching the show. Come on down here to Cincinnati, man. We going to take good care of you. Huh? Hell, you can have my goddamn knees. I don't need them no more. Shit.

37:36Shannon Sharpe:Come on, Brother Cosby. That's what you, that's what you're doing. Yeah, yeah, yes sir. Yes sir. He got a chance. What if Cleveland jump in on it?

37:46Chad Johnson:Nah, that ain't gonna happen. They got brother Miles. They got brother Miles.

37:50Shannon Sharpe:Just imagine him and Miles on one side. He on one side and Miles on the other side.

37:53Chad Johnson:They have too many pieces they need to pay on the offensive side of the ball. They don't need to worry about it. Nothing else defense.

37:59Shannon Sharpe:It seems like they going to the draft because they damn sure haven't done a whole lot.

38:02Chad Johnson:Yeah.

38:03Shannon Sharpe:As far as free agency. It's quiet over there. It's quiet over there. Now, it could be a situation where I'm thinking, Philly, hey, man, hey, Patriots, what y 'all want? What y 'all going to give us to AJ? The reports are they're holding sturdy on a first-round pick for AJ.

38:26Chad Johnson:Yeah, I mean, I don't see what the...

38:27Shannon Sharpe:Doesn't seem to be no one biting on that just yet.

38:30Chad Johnson:How are you not going to bite on it? I mean, we know what he is. We know what he can do. We know what he is. we know what he can do. Not too long ago, he was just a top five receiver in the NFL based on the production. Now, the production wasn't the same. We know why the production wasn't the same. That's neither here nor there. We don't need to get into that. We didn't have a discourse on that. First round pick for A.J. Brown, what did we talk about? Makes us that much better. But hell, Romeo Dobbs went to the Patriots.

38:59Shannon Sharpe:Yes. I think the thing is, look, it seems like Cleveland's loading up on linemen. And I know they're loading up on linemen. They got, yes, That's offensive lineman. Elkin Jenkins, I think they got another guy from Green Bay. That seems to be what they're doing, Ocho. They haven't really gotten to skilled position players. We know Njoku's leaving. And we feel that they need – look, they got Harold Fanning, who had a fabulous rookie season. I think they need some help. I think they need some receiver help. I think they need a stud receiver. Now, I don't know if A.J. wants to go there, but that would be a great place.

39:34Shannon Sharpe:You're going to get targets. they might be inconsistent because until Shadour grows and matures into that position, or Andrew Barry said that, look, we're going to put this thing up, and it might be between Shadour and Watson, Deshaun Watson. I don't know. But dealing with Crosby, I think I see both sides of the prism. I see what you're saying. You're saying, hey, he's been so good, man. Hey, I'm willing to shove all in. I'm going to go all in. I understand the risk that is involved, but I'm willing to absorb those risks to get a player of Max Crosby. I also understand the Ravens said, man, this is an awful lot of money, and we got to give up two first-round picks for a player that our team staff, our medical staff is saying has a degenerative knee.

40:19Shannon Sharpe:I see both sides of the equation. I'm glad. I'm glad. See, I won't ease the decision. I won't LeBron James coming out. Yep, I got him. I won't Shaq coming out. Yep, I got him. I want Tim Duncan coming out. Yep, I got him. I want it easy, Ocho. Man, you know what? Matthew Stafford coming out. I got Stafford. I got L. Wade. I want it easy like that, Ocho. I don't want to have that. Damn. Whew. That's a part of the game. That's right. Jamarcus Russell or Calvin Johnson. Ooh. I want Peyton Manning or Ryan Lee. I don't want it like that. I want it slam dunk.

40:58Chad Johnson:It's never like that.

40:59Shannon Sharpe:I don't even want a free throw. I want a slam dunk. I want Shaq. I want Duncan. I want LeBron. I want Stafford. I want Elway. I want it easy.

41:15Shannon Sharpe:But that's why you make the big bucks. I mean, everybody talking about, oh, it's easy. It's easy. Boom, boom, boom. 45:11Shannon Sharpe:sticking to the AFC North when Sean Jenkins says new Brown head coach Todd Munkin has been a refreshing surprise Ocho let's take a listen to what he has

45:21Chad Johnson:over the past couple years have you heard from your new head coach Todd Munkin yet? bro I have and bro honestly like it's not what I thought it would have been like what did you think it was going to be? I thought he was going to be like more so like, cause my, my past coach, bro, he was like really even kill bro. Like super quiet. I thought I was going to get that from coach Munkin, but it wasn't that like, he was like a real players coach, bro. Like, you know, like give me a hug, like all that, bro. So he was just super communicative of, of what he wanted from a team, what his goal is, what his objective is, what he want to come in and do.

45:58Chad Johnson:And, you know, he knows exactly what he wants and he has a vision. And I think that's what's important as a head coach, and especially being vocal about it, too. I think that's what matters. I respect the CR.

46:12Shannon Sharpe:I like that. How could this be perceived as a shot at Stefanski?

46:18Chad Johnson:I wouldn't say it's a shot at Stefanski. Everyone has their coaching styles. Everyone has their approach and how they talk to players. Todd Munkin probably is a player's coach. Maybe he has a different energy about himself. and so fancy carries himself in a much different way than munkin does and so therefore you will get different reactions when you have a coach that's somewhat mild-mannered someone someone that's even keel as as he said someone who's not not uh uh very very jubilant about the way about their coaching style and maybe todd munkin is just different so for him it's refreshing because it's something that he's not used to being that he's just getting into the nfl and that's all What he's known so far during his short NFL career is what he saw from the fans.

47:02And now you get Todd Munkin, who is completely different, different approach, a different way of doing things.

47:07Chad Johnson:So to him, that is refreshing.

47:11Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they're going to do all the right things till they get your ass in there and then watch how they behave. It's just like when you go to college. Oh, oh, you're great. Oh, your son is unbelievable. Yeah, we're so glad to have.

47:23Chad Johnson:Oh, you know, they say your dream.

47:24Shannon Sharpe:Johnson, get your ass over here.

47:30Shannon Sharpe:Hello You just told my grandma You was glad to have me over here Now you told my Get my ass over here Get in line and run And all this

47:41Chad Johnson:Hey listen Hey coaches When they first get to a team Boy they like politicians Boy Oh yeah Hey they like politicians When college coaches Come to visit you at your house Boy politicians Boy you get there Boy they act like They don't even know you Once they get you in the building they good everything changed.

47:59Shannon Sharpe:Ocho's like you said as a politician they lie to everybody.

48:02Chad Johnson:Yeah.

48:03Shannon Sharpe:So they get whatever story they done told you they done told a hundred other guys that same lie.

48:08Chad Johnson:It's a nice script too nice script they just changed the name.

48:13Shannon Sharpe:Yeah and plus yeah it's gonna be Evie Kill until y 'all don't win no games and then watch how much hell he raised.

48:20Chad Johnson:Oh yeah.

48:21Shannon Sharpe:Because right now you're undefeated. you're undefeated right now yeah everybody's saying the right thing everybody's excited and i get all of that but guess what they're gonna pump them footballs up and they're gonna kick them kick them off in september oh yeah you're gonna have to play you're gonna have to play the eagles a defensive tackle jordan davis has reached an agreement on a three-year 78 million extension tying him to the eagles for the next fourth season the deal includes 65 million guaranteed and makes Davis the highest paid no tackle in the NFL. The number 13 pick in 2022, Davis was entering his fifth year option season worth nearly$13 million.

49:02Shannon Sharpe:I've been very impressed with this young man. Yeah. He was phenomenal at his combine day. He was a phenomenal player at UGA. But to see what he's done to his body, the way he's taken it serious, the way he's gotten himself in shape, and the way he plays hard. Because at first, don't you know, they just played him all. He's just a two-down player. Yeah. He's just a two-down player. Now he's turned himself in. He's gotten his body right, and he's turned himself into a hell of a football player. And he should have went to the damn Pro Bowl. Yeah. I forget who they took over him, but he should have went to the damn Pro Bowl because he had a hell of a season.

49:39Yeah.

49:39Shannon Sharpe:To be told, he outplayed his teammate.

49:43Chad Johnson:Yeah.

49:43Shannon Sharpe:He was better than Carter this year, Ocho.

49:45Chad Johnson:Yeah, this year. Yeah, he was. He was. He was. So Brother Lurie and Howie have done a great job over the years of striking while it's hot and early. Yeah. Striking while it's hot and early. But it also leads me to believe, are you really going to pay two D tackles? Then you have Cooper John. Then you have Deshaun. I mean, Keon Mitchell also coming up. So I'm curious what's going to happen with that. and with it being Jalen Carter, as good as he is, wouldn't he have to supersede that contract of Yeah. Or am I tripping?

50:26Shannon Sharpe:Based on what he's done? Yes. Yeah. If I'm not mistaken, I think he's a two-time Pro Bowl player, an all-pro.

50:34Chad Johnson:Yes.

50:34Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. He'll probably get, he's going to get double what he got. Yeah.

50:38Chad Johnson:So have you ever seen a scenario where both D tackles are paid?

50:42Shannon Sharpe:No, I haven't.

50:45Chad Johnson:So that's what I was thinking.

50:48Shannon Sharpe:I mean, you see Dallas got a bunch of D tacklers that's making 20 plus million dollars a year. They got, what, three of them.

50:54Chad Johnson:Yeah.

50:55Shannon Sharpe:They got Quinny. And Kenny Clark. They got Odigy Zua. And they got Kenny Clark.

51:00Chad Johnson:Yeah. So no, I don't see a scenario.

51:06Shannon Sharpe:Add another chapter to UConn. Coach Dan Hurley's combative history with officials just as March Madness is approaching. Hurley was ejected from the fourth-ranked Huskies 68-62 loss to Marquette today after picking up two technical fouls with one second remaining. Hurley argued that his player was fouled while driving to the basket with the Huskies trailing 64-62. Hurley approached John Gaffney and got in his chest next to the official right shoulder while voicing his displeasure. Hurley said he never bumped Gaffney, though some replays suggest otherwise. Ocho?

51:45Chad Johnson:Yo.

51:48Shannon Sharpe:He was probably trying to, he looked like he was trying to jockey his team, you know, they have a good run, maybe get a one or two seed in the NCAA tournament.

51:59Shannon Sharpe:Frustrated. Say he was fouled. Guy said no, he wasn't fouled. I didn't see it, so don't start me lying, Chad. I got to. So, Chad, if y 'all saw it, jump in the chat and say, yeah, he was fouled. No, he wasn't. I mean. But that's his history. He's very. He pick up texts. I mean, he. He animated. Yeah. I think he from Jersey. And you can tell he got that jersey. Is he bad as Bob Knight or not that extra? No, ain't nobody bad as Bob Knight. Bob Knight was cussing, throwing chairs, punching people, punching coaches. punching his own players oh oh that's funny

52:51yeah

52:52Shannon Sharpe:according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler the Patriots reportedly wanted Max Crosby this offseason but Tom Brady Fowler spoke to someone involved in the Crosby trade and was quoted No way Tom was sending Max to Brable. Brady and Brable were teammates in New England from 2001 to 2008. However, it seems Tom doesn't have any plan on helping his own team. Ocho, should the Raiders be worried that Tom ties to the Patriots could affect business decisions?

53:20Chad Johnson:No, not really, because I think Tom knows what he's doing. He knows what he's doing from a business side, especially trying to do what you can. I think what the Patriots might have been offering for Matt Crosby, they weren't getting in return. I think what the Ravens got, what the Ravens were willing to give up for Matt Crosby, Tom Brady understands what I can continue to build over there in Las Vegas. And he understood that. This is about business now. Whether I want to help you improve or not, are you going to compensate me the value that we need to continue to prove our roster if we're giving away our identity to you?

53:51Chad Johnson:The Patriots probably weren't willing to do that, but the goddamn Ravens were.

53:56Shannon Sharpe:so if the Patriots have two first and the Ravens have two first you think Tom Brady doing business

54:01Chad Johnson:with his old team that's a great question that's a good question I don't think so he ain't helping

54:06Shannon Sharpe:them now I think it's a situation honestly this is me and like I said I haven't talked to anybody but I can see a situation like what happened with Peyton and the Colts if you didn't know better you would swear Peyton Manning only played for the Broncos because where do you see him at the games on Sunday, Ochoa? At the Broncos. Where do you see him doing stuff with the Broncos? He has a statue out in front of Lucas Oil. Tom probably will never say this, and he won a championship. I'm the greatest quarterback ever, and you let me know. You told me I wasn't good enough. It was bad enough. When I first got into the league, I had to watch guy after guy after guy after guy.

54:48Shannon Sharpe:And you mean to tell me after six Super Bowls, after three MVPs, after four Super Bowl MVPs, I'm not good enough?

54:57Chad Johnson:Funny how that business work, huh?

55:01Shannon Sharpe:And I understand Coach Belichick, but he said, Mr. Kraft, you signed off. You fired him, so you mean to tell me you couldn't override it? You let it get to this? That's just me. That's just me looking at knowing how I'm going to think? Yeah.

55:16Chad Johnson:That's a good one. That's a good one.

55:19Shannon Sharpe:That man, hey, that man, you see how he held against every team that passed his ass up. Gave him, hey. Put foot seal up for 23 years. Gave him hell, huh?

55:28Chad Johnson:Everybody.

55:29Shannon Sharpe:He did. Like I said, and I could be totally wrong, but I think there's still some resentment there. He will never say it, and I get it. I get it. You always put, oh, no, we're great, and, you know, the Patriots, and yada, yada, yada. He's been very, very positive about Coach Belichick. He's been very, very positive about Mr. Kraft. They gave up on him. So let that sink in. So, Chad, so next time y 'all talk about these players and this and that, he's on the very short list. Whether you think a quarterback can be the GOAT of a league, that's neither here nor there. We'll debate that a lot of time.

56:09Shannon Sharpe:Here's a guy that had an exemplary career for 20 years in New England with six Super Bowls, four MVPs, three regular season MVPs. And you know when it comes to clutch, we ain't talking about the one that's in your car with a manual transmission. We're talking about the... And when you need something to happen, he can make it pop off. And they said, nah, bro, you ain't got it no more. We ain't better without you. Hey, so I got a question. Y 'all think that the championship that he won in Tampa Bay is more significant than any one he's won in New England? I wouldn't be surprised if it meant more.

56:46Chad Johnson:Especially going from one team to another and being able to win it the first year. And when stuff like that happens, Joe, like if you were playing a video game and let's say you just trade one player to another team, now you expect to win. But to be able to do it in real life, to go to a new organization, after being somewhere for, what, 20 years? 20, yeah. And people say, oh, well, we don't know what's going to happen. did you win in New England because of Bill or was it because of you and then you go to the next place and win the following season when people play their whole career and never go to a Super Bowl

57:25Shannon Sharpe:yeah but but Tampa Bay wasn't just slow though they was just all the pieces was already there

57:29Chad Johnson:they were missing one thing

57:30Shannon Sharpe:yeah all they needed the guy that didn't turn the ball over right right and I think because because they didn't believe in him he's like hold on After everything I've done, y 'all still doubt me now? Okay. It was so, boy, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall. When he was with his friends, his closest friend, his mom, his dad, his agent, his boys. Yeah.

58:01Ooh.

58:03Shannon Sharpe:Because you got to realize now, once he left, that thing unraveled fairly quickly.

58:07Chad Johnson:Very quickly. You know, if you don't have a quarterback, I mean, look, hold on. Mack Jones looked good his first year. But you understand why he looked good and what he had to deal with his second year. Somebody that shouldn't have been appointed, that had nothing to do with offensive play calling, didn't know what they were doing. So it went downhill very fast. Damn.

58:31Shannon Sharpe:Some guys, you just look. You see that. It happens. Because I don't care how well you play. What do they do with Joe?

58:43Shannon Sharpe:Emmitt Smith with the Cowboys. What did they do, Ocho? Oh, yeah. Joe, you know that's your team. You know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Joe Montana, Emmitt Smith, Tom Brady, Jerry Rice. I can make a case. They're four of the top eight, nine, ten players in the NFL history. At their position, yeah. Had to finish their careers elsewhere because the team, after everything they had done, said, nah, I'm good. Yeah. But when a player says, hey, I want out, are you selfish? Yeah, you know how I'd go. Ocho, Joe, the Rams and Trent McDuffie agreed to a record four-year deal, $124 million extension,$100 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid cornerback in history.

59:36Shannon Sharpe:The highest-paid cornerback per year. He makes$31 million. Sauce Gardner, 30.1. Stingley Jr., 30. J.C. Horn, 25. Jalen Ramsey, 24.1. And Pat Sertan, second, 24. Mm. McDuffie strapping like that. He nice, man.

59:58Chad Johnson:He nice. Hold on. Hey, listen, he very nice. He can play inside. He can play on the outside, too. At times, if need be, he can travel. I'm not sure how they're going to use him over there. he's probably not going to travel. I'm sure he has a Pacific side that he likes to play based on what he did in Kansas City. But he can strap. Hey, he can strap, boy. He can strap. I remember I had my wide receiver workshop and I talked about some of the DBs that were difficult, you know, to play against. I asked Uno. I asked Jamar Chase. I asked some other receivers. And obviously, Patrick Sertain was at the top.

1:00:31Chad Johnson:But goddamn, Trent McDuffie's name kept coming up. He had a deal with, along with, you know, Denzel Ward. And it's the same. it's the same name that always when we talk about the DBs it's Denzel Ward, Trent McDuffie Pat Sertain, you know the JC Horns Stingley is always in that conversation too

1:00:52Shannon Sharpe:Gonzalez is now in that now you guys, hey, they're going to have to do something with Gonzalez, you're going to have to do something with Spoon

1:00:58Chad Johnson:I forgot Gonzalez is up too, hey he nice he nice I wish he'd talk a little bit more so the personality

1:01:06Shannon Sharpe:You don't get that man to talk out of his game, Ocho. See, you try to get that man to talk out of his game.

1:01:10Chad Johnson:No, I'm just saying because it... That ain't his game. That's your game. I know, but the defense aside, we need that kind of personality to be a little bit more brash, a little bit more boastful about how good they are.

1:01:22Shannon Sharpe:That ain't... Ocho, that's your game. You try to get him to do something like you did. Everybody can't talk and play. Okay. Some people just like to play and let them play you talking for. You and I, we like to talk and play. and I'm going to tell you what I'm going to do and then when I play, go talk for me on top of it.

1:01:40Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

1:01:40Shannon Sharpe:Because sometimes I get too tired to talk, but I'm going to play, I'm going to hit this touchdown on you. I'm doing the phone.

1:01:46Chad Johnson:He nice though, but that's a really, that's a really, listen, that defense improves, which is already good, which is already good at the back end was already good, especially last year. But to add that to what they already have, especially with that front line the Rams got, and you get a solid piece at corner, they gonna be nice I would love to be I would love to be a fly on the wall at a practice in them one on ones with Trent McDuffie and Puka Nakua I would love to see that

1:02:18Shannon Sharpe:they must be got some money I know Mr. Cronk he got a boatload but it's gonna take some more cause what he just what he just paid McDuffie he gonna have to add about 40 50 more million to that for Puka?

1:02:34Chad Johnson:Is Puka this year

1:02:36Shannon Sharpe:or is it next year? Puka up. It's Puka's third or fourth year. Puka was a fifth round pick. Oh my goodness.

1:02:46Chad Johnson:Yeah, he up.

1:02:47Shannon Sharpe:He only got a three year deal. Yeah, he up. They're going to have to back up that bridge.

1:02:53Chad Johnson:He's going to reset the market. He's going to reset the market. Now, I'm curious if over there in Seattle, they waiting on Puga to sign, or JSN going to sign first, or they're going to make JSN play one more year?

1:03:08Shannon Sharpe:So he's played three years or four years? He's signed a four-year deal. Okay. He signed a four-year deal? Damn, they signed that many? They signed that long a deal as a fifth rounder?

1:03:23Yeah.

1:03:24Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he about to break it up.

1:03:28Chad Johnson:Joe, he might get 42 for what? He got to give up, 42 a year?

1:03:32Shannon Sharpe:mm-hmm

1:03:33Chad Johnson:32 a year

1:03:36Shannon Sharpe:who the highest paid receiver right now Chase yeah

1:03:44Shannon Sharpe:we're gonna reset the market

1:03:50Chad Johnson:that's crazy hey Joe it's gonna keep going up too Joe it's gonna keep going up yeah

1:03:57Shannon Sharpe:hey I don't know if you saw but you saw the NFL try to redo them TV deals. You see that, Ocho?

1:04:03Chad Johnson:They are? Get out of here.

1:04:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:04:06Chad Johnson:What they want, Mo?

1:04:10Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Netflix say we want in. Oh, yeah. CBS Paramount say, hey, y 'all know we got a good relationship. We bought up everything. We put it on any network you want to. You want CBS? Hey, you want CNN? Whatever network you want. Hey, hey. Netflix, hey, you know in order to be considered for real, You got to get live events. You got to get a live sporting event. And nothing is better than the NFL football. And teams going to pay big dollars for it. And they know that.

1:04:42Shannon Sharpe:After missing out on Max Probson, the Cowboys opted for another edge rusher. Ray Shungary is headed to the Cowboys with an old teammate of Kenny Clark to bolster the Cowboys pass rush post-Michael Parsons' era. Ocho, do you like the signing?

1:05:00Chad Johnson:I like it. I like, I like Rashawn Gary. I like the signing. I didn't like the disappearing act that he pulled after having nine sex, the last nine games. I may be with a 10 sack and he disappeared.

1:05:11Shannon Sharpe:Nine games.

1:05:12Chad Johnson:That's, that's what I was trying to say, but he had, how many did he have before those last nine games where he, where he went on hiatus?

1:05:18Shannon Sharpe:I think he had like eight, I think he had like eight and a half. Okay. Yeah. I mean, whatever the number in his, in his first eight games. And then he had got shut out the last nine games.

1:05:29Chad Johnson:Yeah. The last nine. So, obviously, once Micah got there and Micah came, Micah had 12 and a half. And missed four games. And missed four games. So, I'm not sure. I think Rashawn Gary is a good signing. If he can get off to a great start like he did in Green Bay and have some consistency and not disappear like he did or tail off at the end of the season, I think it would be a great, great pickup, you know, for the Dallas Cowboys. I, and Chad, stay with me real quick. I still think they might be in a play for Trey Henderson. Or is that deal off the table because you got Rashawn Gary? What do you think?

1:06:02Shannon Sharpe:I think they're going to play a 3-4. So if they're going to play a 34, you put Henderson as a stand-up linebacker, you put Gary as a stand-up linebacker, and you will probably have Quentin Williams and Odigazua as your end, and then you probably have Kenny Clark as your nose.

1:06:20Chad Johnson:So listen, just based off what you just said just there, I mean, obviously, on paper with names, it sounds good. They still have to play as a unit all together collectively. But to me, it sounds good. I'm not sure if they're going to have the money to do so. And a lot of people say, oh, they don't have the money. I don't think people understand. When teams want to do something, there's a way to move money around. You do understand that, right? There's always a way to move money around. There's no way to stop them when they want to sign a player individually. They can restructure and twist and manipulate whatever numbers they need to to get who they want to.

1:06:53Shannon Sharpe:They redid Dak's contract. They restructured Dak. They restructured CD. They restructured Tyler Smith. They did something with Terrence Steele. So they got a little money to play with. I don't know if they're going to do something with Deron Bland. Probably if they reworked those contracts over Diggy Zua, Quentin Williams, and Kenny Clark, probably give them some more money to play with. Because, you know, you just kick the can down the road. You know, you tear the contract up and voidable years. And, you know what I'm saying, and give them the signing bonus, Ochoa. So I think that's what it's going to do.

1:07:23I think the thing for me is that they give him a fourth-round draft pick,

1:07:27Shannon Sharpe:pay the guy$19.5 million this year. He has$22.5 million next year, but it's not guaranteed. And then when you look at Khalil Mack, he just signed a one-year deal for$18 million. Me personally, I think Khalil Mack is a better player. I think the thing is that when you look at Rashawn Gary, he's a guy that's never had a double-digit sack season. And you mentioned something very interesting. the last nine games he had zero sacks. It's hard for me to see a scenario because you know Michael's getting double-teamed. It's hard for me to see a scenario where you can't get one sack, two sacks with all the attention with the guy on the other side.

1:08:04Shannon Sharpe:It's kind of like if you're a wide receiver and you play with another great wide receiver, you can't tell me, you mean to tell me you can't get a couple of touchdowns? You can't have a couple of big games when I know they're giving me attention to the other guy on the other side? So that was, I'm not saying, look, Maybe he was hurt, but I'm saying that would cause me to pause. Like, okay, now what's going – let me try to dive a little deeper to see what's really going on with each other.

1:08:29Chad Johnson:Right. Yeah. Matter of fact, hold on. And let me get – the Raiders, Matt Crosby is going to – Baltimore. Who's replaced Max?

1:08:45Shannon Sharpe:They're probably going to go in the draft.

1:08:47Chad Johnson:Do they?

1:08:47Shannon Sharpe:Because you got the first pick of the draft or you got number 14.

1:08:51Chad Johnson:So I'm thinking with Rashawn Gary, if the Cowboys feel they feel their need at the defensive position, as far as offseason acquisitions go and they want to work at other levels that they do have, then I say maybe Trey Henderson, if I don't see a scenario where he signs back. No, that ain't going to happen. I mean, obviously, that's not going to happen. So maybe there's a scenario where Trey Henderson ends up in Las Vegas. Possible. In Las Vegas. I tweeted, okay, Trey Henderson is going to end up a cowboy. I tweeted it because I wholeheartedly believe it. But when they got Rashawn Gary, I'm like, uh, knowing Jerry, knowing the way he is, he's not very aggressive, not too aggressive in the offseason.

1:09:37Chad Johnson:I mean, listen, he made a move. Yeah. He seemed to be more active than he's ever been in his life.

1:09:42Shannon Sharpe:You see he tried to make a play for N 'Kobe Dean. He traded for Quinny Williams. He traded Micah and he got compensation back. And so you see some of the moves that he's making. This is the first time that we've seen Dallas really spend in the offseason or really try to make moves and not no C or D level moves. Look, it remains to be seen how Rashawn Gary is going to play out. but to try to go into free agency and get into Kobe Dean because that is a position of need. Your linebackers need... They need to. And to play a 3-4, Ocho, your backers got to be good in the 3-4. They got to be some thumps.

1:10:26Chad Johnson:Yeah. They got to be... Oh, yeah.

1:10:29Shannon Sharpe:Seattle Seahawks are breaking back wide receiver Rashid Shahid on a three-year $51 million contract. Ocho,$34.7 million guaranteed. Shahid joined cornerback Josh Jobe as cleave players, returning to the defending Super Bowl champion in free agency. Seattle, however, lost both Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker to the Chiefs and defensive back Kobe Bryant to the Bears to join a new team. Did Seattle do enough to try to run it back? Now, Ocho, I gotta save a little something because you know, Ocho, you know Spoon and you know JSN. I got to take care of them. Oh, yeah, absolutely. I kind of want to do a little something for Sam Darnold, let him know that we really appreciate what he did.

1:11:15Chad Johnson:Yeah, I mean, listen, you know they know how to manipulate those numbers. They know what they need to do. You got to take care of JSN. You got to take care of Witherspoon because they have been phenomenal. Those are key pieces to your team in general. I'm not sure when it's going to happen. I don't know. I'm waiting. I'm waiting. Have they done enough to fill in, to make a repeat or have a run again? I'm not sure the defense will look the same as it did this year. You can find pieces. Are you going to find someone that's going to fill in that position at the defensive back position and do what Tyreek Willen was able to do?

1:11:56Chad Johnson:I mean, they had that nickname for a reason. They had the nickname for a reason. So if you're not bringing back that same squad with the same players that had that continuity, will it be the same? You know, will Sam Donald play as well as he did this season? Hell, well, he proved he could do it. He went from Minnesota, playing well in Minnesota, and ain't missed a beat in Seattle. So, I mean, you would see him now already being paid. You would see some consistency, you know, on his part. So I'm sure they probably will look just as good.

1:12:25Shannon Sharpe:And to go back to the Raiders, they also signed Quay Walker from Green Bay. because remember Green Bay traded the linebacker? They traded for what's the Indianapolis Colts guy? They traded 44. Him and he was on the 520 show. Oh, Zaire. Zaire Franklin. Zaire Franklin. Green Bay traded for Zaire. Quay Walker who's at the University of Georgia. Hey, as a matter of fact, I think Quay and N 'Kobe played together, I think. So now they got the Georgia boys reunited because you know they had two Georgia boys and we had three with Philly. Carter and Davis and the Kobe Dean. Right.

1:13:08Chad Johnson:And so... Hey, I still don't understand. I know you just said it. I don't want to say how they let Zaire Franklin go. But he's an animal.

1:13:16Shannon Sharpe:Hey, he's going to stop the run now.

1:13:17Chad Johnson:Oh, my goodness.

1:13:19Shannon Sharpe:He'd be all over the place. He a bumper. Hey, I don't know what defense they're going to run, but he a perfect for a 3-4 defense because he a big-ass He can take on guards. Obviously, when you're that size, you're not going to be as nimble and play the coverage pass that well, so he'll probably be coming out on third down. But I like to pick for Green Bay. Green Bay is like, we need to get better in run defense, and they felt Quay is more agile. But it's going to be interesting to see. I like what the Raiders have done so far. It doesn't translate just because you spent a boatload of money in free agency, Ocho.

1:13:55Shannon Sharpe:It doesn't mean it's going to translate all the way. No.

1:13:58Chad Johnson:If that's the case, listen, that's the case, the goddamn Steelers would have translated based on what they acquired in the offseason with all that elite talent that they had.

1:14:08Shannon Sharpe:So it's going to be very... We're not surprised that we see this kind of movement. We normally see this movement the first two days.

1:14:19Shannon Sharpe:Mike Evans is leaving Tampa Bay. He's heading to the Bay to join Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy. Mike Evans will have a new home for the first time in his NFL career as he chases his second Super Bowl. He's signing a three-year contract with the 49ers until injuries derailed his 2025 campaign. Evans had a streak of 11 straight seasons of at least 1 ,000 receiving yards. He tied Jerry Rice for the longest in NFL history. His was to begin the career. Jerry has his from 86 to 96. 108 total touchdowns, ranked 10th all-time. six most with one franchise. He amassed 368 yards in eight games last season.

1:15:02Shannon Sharpe:If he's still the same player, he has the potential to be really, really good for Kyle Shanahan because we know what Kyle can do in that offense. Playmakers such as Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, we'll see coming back from an Achilles injury, Ocho. Yeah. Oh, he's going to have to be, he's going to have to take another step. He's going to have to take another step. yeah. Juwan Jennings is a free agent. Kendrick Bourne, if I'm not mistaken, and I think I saw him before I came on tonight, signed with Arizona on a nice deal. Ocho, what do you think? Are you surprised that Mike Evans...

1:15:32Chad Johnson:I absolutely love it. I absolutely love it. I absolutely love it because I know what Mike Evans could do. Hold on, not only do I know what Mike Evans could do, he's going to a team where you got a goddamn offensive genius. You're going to an offense that is predicated on putting you in a position to make plays. What is goddamn Mike Evans? He's a playmaker. And he showed you in a long stretch of 11 seasons of having 1 ,000 yards. Now, it's unfortunate. I tweeted, Dolphins, we got Malik Willis. Let's get Mike Evans because I understood we needed down here in Miami another playmaker, right? And lo and behold, shortly after that, he signed with the 49ers.

1:16:11Chad Johnson:And I'm not even mad about it because I understand, oh, my goodness, you're putting Mike Evans in that system like that? With the creativity and the offensive prowess that Kyle Shanahan has when it comes to officer play calling and putting players in position to make plays? Man, hell, Mike Evans might go for 1 ,000, maybe 1 ,500.

1:16:26Shannon Sharpe:I think the thing is, Ocho, and you saw this the last couple of years, the injuries started to creep up. And as they started to creep up, Ocho, they started to keep you out a little longer. You see, remember he had a hamstring and he was able to come back to keep that 1 ,000-catch season alive. And then this year it came and all of a sudden he couldn't fight it off. He couldn't come back. So I think that was a little concerning because Tampa's lost a couple of guys. There are a couple of guys that are leaving Tampa and moving on. But when you look at it, I think obviously IU isn't coming back.

1:16:56Shannon Sharpe:Kendrick Bourne is at a new location. Juwan King is a free agent. George Kittle is coming off a very serious injury. And how old is Kittle, 32, 33?

1:17:10He's 32 years old, coming off an Achilles injury.

1:17:15Shannon Sharpe:We'll see how soon he can get back. Yeah. Because if you think about it, Ocho, Jason Tatum, 10 months. Okay, killed the Torres Aquinas in January. February, March, April, May, June. July, August, September, October, November. 10 months will be November. Yeah. That's if he comes 10 months. Now, could he come back in 9 and make it October? Could he come back in 8 and make it September? Right. probably pushing it but hey as a professional athlete sometimes you have to protect us from us but we'll see how that plays out but they needed a receiver and you see Wondell Robinson you saw what he got from Tennessee you saw with Pierce what he got from Alec from Indianapolis so that's about 29 million a year for 116 hey timing so 29 for 116 So what George Pickens, we say George Pickens.

1:18:15Shannon Sharpe:He say, y 'all think y 'all want to give me 28 to 30 million.

1:18:19Chad Johnson:Man, stop playing. I could have told you that. Honestly, it's disrespectful. I mean, those that, I don't want to call them casual fans that watch football, they say, oh, franchise tag, 28 million, and think that's enough. Not understanding. Are you foolish? Are you tripping? Are you understanding? That's why I was so voiceless and so enthusiastic about him being able to go somewhere else because I understand the game that they're going to play. I understand the game. They don't see it because they just want him on their team. Everybody's selfish. He was great for us. We want him on our team. We don't care.

1:18:55Chad Johnson:He got to franchise that. He's getting $20,$29 million. Man, please, stop playing. But anyway.

1:19:01Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I think the thing is, the whole thing is that, man, as you start to age and you start to get nicked, I don't know what it is, Ochoa, it's like, it seems like the injuries happen with greater frequency as we start to age and we start to get injured in our older age in our latter years we start getting nicked in year 10 year 11 year 12 man it's hard the body just doesn't recover like it once did cover yeah it's it's tough well you know I can tell you I can tell

1:19:27Chad Johnson:you something you know for for for someone who has never been injured uh all glory be to God because of that I I don't know what it is especially what it is with players when they get up in age and I'm assuming maybe it's wear and tear on the body from the rigorous workouts and what they've done over the years. And I don't know what factor. I don't know what you can factor into it as to why it always happens. The funny thing about the nature of the beast when it comes to playing this game, injuries are inevitable. They're going to happen. And you want to minimize them the best way you can, whether it be through nutrition, whether it be through…

1:20:06Shannon Sharpe:preventative measure you know your cold tub your hot tub your massage therapy yes yes yes taking

1:20:12Chad Johnson:care of your body and but the one thing about it is is is some just aren't lucky and and it just happens it just happens even when you prevent you take all the proper measure measurements to make sure you don't get hurt it just happens so um evan's agent isn't stressed about it was stressed

1:20:30Shannon Sharpe:it wasn't about money the buccaneers were extremely aggressive in their pursuit pursuit and presented a very strong offer, offer demonstrating how much they value him and everything he meant to the franchise. In the end, the decision came down to Mike wanting a new challenge and a fresh opportunity while still he feels he has a great deal left in his game. Ocho, what does this say? I mean, he's been, he's been, he had opportunity to leave elsewhere and he stayed. Now you do realize Tampa, Florida doesn't have state taxes. California got the highest state taxes in the United States. So for him to say basically, no matter what, if the numbers are even, I'm taking less money because they're going to take 13%, 14 % of your money.

1:21:18Chad Johnson:Right.

1:21:19Shannon Sharpe:So if you're making$5 million, you're making$5 million. They're taking$750 off the rip, let alone the cost of living and what it costs to live in San Jose or whatever the case may be. Yeah. So what's going on with Mike? Why do you think he wanted to change the scenery? Why do you think he wanted a fresh start considering he had spent so many years in Tampa?

1:21:39Chad Johnson:In Tampa, I don't think the numbers were equivalent. I don't think if it was enough, if the numbers were what they should have been, I think it would have stayed in Tampa. Obviously, I think the 49ers offered him more, and he understood the situation. And going to the 49ers, well, hold on. This is the situation where I can be that guy again. Yep. You know, they throw the ball in volume. You know, I'm going to catch a lot of passes. I'm going to score a lot of touchdowns and continue to build on my legacy going to Mike Shanahan's offense. I understand it. They have a good quarterback in Brock Purdy.

1:22:12Chad Johnson:So he understands that George Kittle's not going to be out. Again, they're going to need me. I might be able to double, maybe even triple what I can do at the receiver position, you know, in the usage rate in which they're going to use me. So I think the Bucs are probably moving forward and having Ibuka be that number one receiver and having that complimentary piece in Godwin, you know, follow right behind him as the number two. Outside of that, I think the writing was on the wall and then moving on when Mike Evans got hurt and Ibuka started having that string of games, maybe three or four games back to back to back where he went crazy.

1:22:49and at that point I think Mike

1:22:53Chad Johnson:made the right decision in moving on and continuing to build on his legacy.

1:22:59Shannon Sharpe:I think at this price point I don't think the numbers have been revealed yet but I didn't see a scenario where they could pay getting Alex the Pierce sweet steak Wondell Robinson sweet steak so you see some of these guys getting the big money considering they got Purdy on that kind of money. They got Christian McCaffrey on that kind of money. They got Kittle, who's the highest paid tight end, on that kind of money. They got Bosa. They got Fred Warner. They got some big contracts, don't you? And so I just think the thing is that if Mike Evans still have some tread on the tire, I definitely think he can help this team.

1:23:41Shannon Sharpe:Now, the question is, are they going to go – are they going to get – are they going to bring Jennings back? Because I thought he played well for him. He did. I thought he played extremely well. He did. Given the inconsistencies of what been in and out of the lineup, whether it was Purdy or Matt Jones playing, Kittle being in and out of the lineup, obviously Ayuk didn't play, Pierce all being hurt for him to come in and play as well as he did. I thought he did a great job.

1:24:15Shannon Sharpe:But we'll see what Mike Evans have. I mean, you believe he still has something. I don't know if he's going to be five, six years ago, Mike Evans, but if he can give him somewhere 800 to 1 ,000 yards, you know, seven, eight touchdowns.

1:24:31Chad Johnson:He's getting way more than 1 ,000 in that offense. Yeah, absolutely. Okay.

1:24:36Shannon Sharpe:He's a great run after catch.

1:24:38Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

1:24:40Shannon Sharpe:That's your level of expertise is the wide receiver. So I'm going to take your word for it. But, you know, look, I think the thing is a plus with Jennings, Ocho, he's going to want big money. He sees what all these other guys – I mean, you see what these other guys are making. You don't want to be the guy that go out there all of a sudden and get like a three-year,$18 million deal where you see guys getting – I think Wander Robinson got what? Like$20 million a year and Alec Pierce got like$28,$29 million a year. you don't want to be the guy like damn bro you afraid that's all you got so he's I mean

1:25:19Chad Johnson:he's going to get his chance he's going to get his chance he's going to get his chance somewhere

1:25:27Shannon Sharpe:because I think he definitely earned it he played extremely well and he deserves that opportunity so we'll see where he ends up going but Mike Evans is going to the San Francisco 49ers discover a spectacular island destination with Crystal blue seas, endless sunshine, and the cool Bahamian breeze.
