In short
NFL offseason “best of” news discussion focused on (1) Bengals contract drama involving Shamir (Shamar) Stewart and his agent, (2) Jerry Jones’ comments at Cowboys training camp, and (3) CBS Sports NFL “triplet” rankings debate (Bengals #1, Eagles #2, Ravens #3, Lions #4, Chiefs #5).
Guest backgrounds
Matt Rogers (Las Culturistas) and Bowen Yang (Las Culturistas) are the hosts; the episode also features “Ocho” (sports commentator) driving most NFL analysis.
Key claims
Bengals allegedly criticized Stewart’s representation and argued contract language could void future guarantees for conduct detrimental; Ocho argues Bengals are wrong, warns about setting a precedent, and says guarantees should mean guaranteed money. Ocho also claims Jerry Jones publicly undercuts players (Dak Prescott, Michael Parsons) and that Jones’ comments reflect transactional ownership.
Notable examples
Hypothetical “prison” clause; comparisons to Terrell Pryor’s suspension; CBS triplet rankings and yardage gaps (e.g., Chase Brown ~990 vs other RBs ~2,000); Jerry Jones’ “just because we signed him…” dig at Parsons; Micah Parsons contract/extension talk.

That's the reaction a lot of people are having when they first try Kewpie mayo. Yeah, it's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle. You've probably seen it at the grocery store. And this mayo is different. Mm-hmm. Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. Kewpie only uses egg yolks, which gives it this rich umami flavor. It's smoother, deeper, almost buttery. Once people try it, they start putting it on everything.

2:31Shannon Sharpe:We got to talk about your team. The Bengals point the finger at Shamir Shamar Stewart's agent over the contract drama. First, Bengals director of player personnel, Duke Tobin, pointed the finger at Stewart's representation. He needs to be here. I would encourage him to be here. He's listening to advice. He's paying for his agent. I don't understand the advice. We're treating him fairly. No, you're not. No, you're not. Nobody else put that language in the contract that if you have a conduct detrimental, all future guarantees could be voided. You do realize, if I'm not mistaken, I fake the way they do it now, Ocho, the first round of the money is guaranteed.
3:18Shannon Sharpe:So in other words, he has a slip up this year, next year, the year after, and the year after money could potentially be voided. Are they out of their mind? That is the reason why you have an agent. Is that you're supposed to take advice from the agent? If you didn't, because see, they want to take advantage. Oh, we're treating him fairly. No, you're not. No, you're not. Nobody else does this. Y 'all trying to be slick. And they know you're starting to dangerous. You've got to be careful with precedent, Ocho. Precedent. Yeah. Because now they're going to try, everybody, you start doing that, everybody going to try to start to slip that in there.
3:56Shannon Sharpe:Nah, you're not going to do that. If you want to punish me for something I did this year, by all means. But to take all the future guarantees, when the contract is more times than not, it's guaranteed? Absolutely not, Ocho. Yeah, absolutely. I totally understand what you're saying. Obviously, I don't like the hypothetical that was used in the situation, being that if you're in prison, Mike Brown saying, if just so happened he goes to prison, I shouldn't have to pay him. For that matter, I think it should be a year to year thing. I think the agent should have come to that conclusion a very long time ago based on yearly.
4:30Listen, year one, if something happens, that detrimental conduct detrimental to the team, then money for that specific year should not have to be paid. There should be some type of penalty where the players, not the player, that the owners can protect themselves and not have to play. but what's fair is fair and what i think what they're trying to do is not fair they're trying to set a precedent a certain precedent that if if shamar stewart the first one then everyone else it's a copycat league if if one if one team does it and a shamar stewart and his agent allow it to happen then it would be a trickle effect and everyone else will start implementing that and
5:03Shannon Sharpe:setting their precedent as well then owner mike brown said it's not about money it's about guarantee in this case of if he were to do something contrary to the discipline levels of the league i don't think that's going to ever happen that's what's holding it up it's never happened as long as i can remember his agent wants to be if he acted in a terrible fashion this is all hypothetical something that rides to the level of him going to prison we'd be on the line for the guarantee yeah that's how it works yeah but Ocho but guess what they want to be in a situation if we cut you even if I got guaranteed money I cut you I ain't got to pay you that's what guarantee me hold on am I the only one to understand what the word guarantee mean Ocho yeah that's how it works you don't you don't get you don't get to determine that right well you did something year one now we're gonna punish you year two year three year four nah bro i don't work like that yeah i mean uh if it goes to arbitration if it goes to arbitration you know hey that's what we have we have an independent arbiter and they hear both sides and if they say okay okay i can live with that.
6:26Shannon Sharpe:But for me to just give you that kind of control, just give up that? Absolutely not, Ocho. No way in hell would I ever do that. And he said it's not about the money. It is about the money. Guarantee is about guaranteed money. Definitely about the money. But listen, excuse me, Shamar Stewart and his representation are in a tough spot. The Bengals, the Browns, and Mike Brown, Katie, and Duke Tobin, they're also in a tough spot. I would love for the matter to be resolved. Training camp has already started. rookies have already reported so he's actually missing time valuable time where i think he can come in and make a difference based on what i've seen on film you know with college tape he can come in and make a difference our defense was very bad last year we we need all hands on deck we need all hands on deck based on how we as a team and our organization start every goddamn season in a hole having to dig ourself and dig our way out of it the point of having the draft is to draft people and draft players that we think we can benefit from and help our team.
7:28And this situation right here is not helping us in any way, shape, form or fashion to reach the end goal. We all have the same end goal. We're trying to get to Lombardi. We're trying to be in San Fran fucking Cisco come February, week one. And this is not the type of business and going about doing so. I hope they get the matter resolved. I'm sick of talking about it. You know, I'm sorry for being a little frustrated. I'm a little passionate about my team a little bit, you know. And listen, Shamar Stewart has to do it right. His representation is doing exactly what they should do. This is business.
8:06This is the ugly side of business. I know young people want to go out there and play football. I got drafted. I finally achieved and reached my childhood dream of getting and drive it to an NFL team. It just so happened, now the business gets in the way. The ugly side of it. And you wonder why I had so much fun while I was playing to get away from this side, this part.
8:29Shannon Sharpe:Man, I hope it's resolved. But you notice how the Bengals, now, why didn't the 30 other teams do the hypotheticals? You notice how hypotheticals only happen to the Bengals? If he were to go to prison or something, I don't think that's going to happen. Just like they said, oh, he might misbehave, run a foul with the league. I don't think that's going to happen. Well, if you don't think that's going to happen, why are you putting language in there? I have a question. And excuse me for my lack of ignorance and lack of knowledge on his past history. Does he have character issues or stuff that happened previously in the past that I don't know about?
9:07because that to me, that would be the only reason this specific player, these clauses would want to be implemented into his contract because of past behavior.
9:16Shannon Sharpe:I thought you came in with a clean slate. That's what they told us. Now, I noticed, I don't know if you remember this, you remember when Terrell Pryor? Terrell Pryor sold some of his game world stuff, the stuff that he got for winning the Big Ten Championship. Wow. Ohio State. He sold his jersey. Yes. Now, this happened in college. and when he got to the league, the league suspended him for five games. I was outraged. I said, how in the hell, since when, can you punish me for something? Ocho, let's just say for the sake of argument, I'm a college kid. And I get a DUI in college. I graduate college, do an unbelievable job.
9:56Shannon Sharpe:I graduate with honors. I get this job, and the job tells me, well, we're going to take two months salary from you because you got a DUI. That didn't have nothing to do with that. I wasn't even on the job. Right, right. Whatever Shamar,
10:15Shannon Sharpe:Shamar, whatever he did or didn't do, he didn't do it on the Bengals clock. How do you get to punish somebody for something they didn't do when they didn't work for you? But also, this is their entity. This is their business. So when it comes the business, something that you do know is businesses, they do everything they can, especially contractually, to be able to protect themselves just in case what you did back then, in case your past creeps in while you work for us. Have they put this in their contract? Is this in Joe Burrow's contract? Is this in Chase's contract? Was this in Anthony Munoz's contract?
10:54Shannon Sharpe:Was this in Boomer Sison's contract? Because this is the same ownership that's owned that. So I need to know. Now, If this is what they've always done, I don't have a problem with it. I might not like it. But if this is something new, I'm not going to be your test dummy. I'm not going to be your guinea pig to start this precedent. You can start it next year. But I will not allow you to start the precedent with me.
11:21Hey, that's a good one. Hey, it's a tough spot. Hey, I know fans are pissed. Fans are pissed. Hell, you can tell the way I'm talking. like I'm sick of talking about it because I want to see young Bull in camp but I also I see both sides for sure I see both sides of course of course me always having a side with I got the side with the player as much as I love my Bengals I got the side with the player more times than not
11:43Shannon Sharpe:I do too Ocho but I believe in right is right wrong is wrong and I think that I think the Bengals are wrong in this situation and to say you're receiving bad advice that's why you Ocho So why would I hire a financial advisor if I'm not going to listen to it? I'm going to give somebody millions of dollars to invest my money, and then they say, well, this is safe. It's not going to give you 20%, 30%, 40%, but it's going to give you a consistent 6 % to 8%. Because when you take those huge swings, there's a chance they don't hit. This is safe. Now, once you get to a certain level, you say, okay, I got a couple of extra dollars.
12:22Shannon Sharpe:I want to put it in something here. a little more risky, that's going to give me more bang for my buck. Something that can give me 3X, 2X, 4X, 5X. But that's a huge risk because for every Uber Eats or Ring, there's something that does not hit. See, there are all the ones. We look at the Bitcoins and we look at the Uber Eats and we look at the Amazons. But do you know how many companies have gone belly up and that never? The IPO was was nothing? Thousands. Yes. Thousands. So that's the whole reason is that I listen, I hired a guy for a reason. If I thought I could do it on my own, I damn sure would want to, didn't care to give somebody three to 4%, but I knew I couldn't do it on my own.
13:09Shannon Sharpe:And then I didn't want to hear them talk some bull jive because here I was taking these injections and giving them my all and you telling me I'm losing the step. Was I losing the step before or after I started taking them injections and I wasn't 100 % out there. Wait a minute. Speaking of that, speaking of that, I'm glad you just said that. I'm so glad you just said it. Please tell me you talked about that team that we so-called America's team based on the comments that were said about sticks. We going to get to that. Okay, I just want to make sure we got in the lineup now because he got his nerve, the audacity, the goal.

16:16Shannon Sharpe:CBS Sports gives their NFL triplet ranking. The Bengals, Ocho, are number one. Thanks to Joe Burrow, running back Chase Brown, and Jamar Chase. The Philadelphia Eagles are number two. Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown. Baltimore Ravens are number three. Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers. Detroit Lions are number four. Jerry Goff, Jameer Gibbs, Armand Ross, St. Brown. And rounding out the top five is the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, Isaiah Pacheco, and Rasheed Rice. Oh, okay, we've got 10. Buffalo was number six. Josh Allen, James Cook, Khalil Shakir. Rams, number seven. Matthew Stafford, Kyron Williams, Puka Nakua.
17:06The 49ers face the Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle.
17:12Shannon Sharpe:Number nine, Baker Mayfield, Bucky Irving, Mike Evans. Rounding out the top 10, Dak Prescott, Javante Williams, and C.D. Lamb. Man. Ocho. Yeah. Any objections? You like it? Yeah. I mean, listen, as much as I love my Bengals, there's no reason we should be number one. there's no reason we should be number one. Number one should be the Philadelphia Eagles. I agree. Hey, listen, number one should be the Philadelphia Eagles. Listen, I love Chase Brown. Obviously, Joe does what he does. Udo does what he does. It's not even close. Especially, and obviously, not to be rude, not to be disrespectful, but where were the Ravens again?
17:54Ravens was three. I would put the Ravens in front of the Bengals as well. Hell, you could make a case. Detroit should go in front of the Bengals with Gibbs. Who was the three for the Lions?
18:10Shannon Sharpe:Jerry Goff, Jameer Gibbs, and Alvin Ross St. Brown. And listen, and that's interchangeable over there. You can go Gibbs or Montgomery. Either way. Yeah, so, I mean, if anything, to be fair, I'd put the Bengals maybe at four, maybe five. Ocho, this is why I agree with you and I'm saying. Yes, sir. Because I think the gap between the running backs. Yes. is greater than the distance between Chase and, say, Amon Ross St. Brown. Yes. Or Chase and A.J. Brown. Yes, sir. Or Chase and Zay Flowers. That's why I think Bengals should be, look, there's not a gap. There's not that big of a gap if there is a gap between Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.
18:54Shannon Sharpe:No. Now, if you want to say, okay, Jalen Hurst doesn't throw the ball, but that's not their offense. It's not their game. But Chase Brown with the running back position, and you're talking about Derrick Henry, talking about Saquon Barkley, talking about Jameer Gibbs. Nah, man. David Montgomery, yeah. Yeah, listen. As much as I love my Bengals, I'm fair. I'm going to be fair, and I'm going to be realistic. You got to be. I'm going to be fair, and I'm going to be realistic. Yes. Now, you talk about Khalil Shakir and the receiving position. I think that's – come on now, Chase. That's like Chase. That's like Brown with Saquon, Derrick Henry, Jameer Gibbs when you talk about Chase and Khalil Shakir.
19:35Shannon Sharpe:Yes. Now we're on to something.
19:40Shannon Sharpe:McCaffrey, it's kind of hard to have 49ers in it any higher for the simple fact of health of Christian McCaffrey. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I like the Bucs made it. The Bucs should have made it. Yeah. Bucket Irvin's been sensational. Baker played extremely. Since he's been in Tampa, Baker Mayfield has played extremely well. Let's give credit where credit's due. I have no problem that. He's found a home. He's found someone that believed in him and give him an opportunity, and he gets to be Baker Mayfield. The Baker Mayfield that we saw at Oklahoma, we get to see this guy now. Yeah. The Cowboys, I don't really have a problem.
20:16Shannon Sharpe:What was the running back before Javante Williams got there? your guess is good as mine yeah Rico Dowdle look 10 Cowboys, Dak but Dak is coming off an injury also Javante Williams now he's another year removed from that knee injury he didn't play very well as last year in Denver we understand CD, why CD is there absolutely we'll talk about that later on in the season Yeah, but I agree with you, Ocho. The Bengals, it's just a mere fact that Chase, the gap between Saquon, Derrick Henry, is a bigger gap between Jamar Chase, A.J. Brown, Jamar Chase, and Zay Flowers. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. And so with that being said, yeah, and I get it, Joe Burrow had a historic, he led the league in passing touchdowns last year, he led the league in passing yards, and I understand Chase.
21:18Shannon Sharpe:Chase won the triple crown. Yes. But how many yards did Chase Brown have? Because one guy had 2 ,000. That's a good question. And another guy had 1921. Right. And Jameer Gibbs, even after splitting carries, probably had 1 ,300, 1 ,400 yards. That's crazy. So I think the gap, the running back gap, there's a bigger gap between the running backs, Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Jameer Gibbs, and Chase Brown. than there is between Jamar Chase, Zay Flowers, AJ Brown, and Amon Rossin Brown. That's just me. Now, Chad, I mean, y 'all can have at it. Y 'all can chop it up. Y 'all can agree or disagree with Ocho and I said.
21:59Shannon Sharpe:But I think the Eagles, I would put the Eagles one. I would put the Ravens two.
22:13Shannon Sharpe:now three and three now i'm i'm having i'm really having to think about three and that's between detroit and cincinnati ocho that's just me you know honestly because detroit and this is no disrespect to chase brown good good running back i'm putting detroit at three simply because they had that double-headed monster you could just pick who you who you want to go with yes purpose may be that goddamn Jameer Gibbs and Amon Rod and Goff is special. Yes. It's special. How many yards did Chase Brown have last year?
22:53Shannon Sharpe:990. Okay. He was 10 from 1 ,000. One guy had 2 ,000. The other guy had 1921. Yeah. Yeah. Nah. Yeah, look, the bill, I don't really have a problem with anybody else that's on this list because we're looking down. Okay, we look down. Who else? Could the Texans with C.J. Stroud, Joe Mixon, Zeco Collins. And Diego Collins, that's a good one. Okay, Jacksonville. Tank Bigsby, Brian Thomas Jr. Okay, you will lead Trevor Lawrence out. Okay, take him off. They got a triplet, but it doesn't deserve to make the top 10. Right. Okay. What about Washington? Ooh. Jane Daniels, Terry McClure. Brian Robinson.
Read the full transcript
23:43Brian Robinson. Brian Robinson.
23:44Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. They was 12. That's fair. That's fair. The Dolphins, you got A-Chan, you got Reek, you got Tua. Yeah.
24:02Shannon Sharpe:no no not in front of the cowboys you don't think you don't think the commanders in front the crowd in front of the cowboys yes that's what yeah no i don't think they should be a top five but i'm just saying okay okay okay i thought you were saying top five like oh no no no no no no commanders nor the other team should be top five because although a chain expect no the commanders camp because Brian Robinson, let me see. Would I take Brian Robinson over Chase Brown? Hell yeah. But I'm not taking him over Saquon. I'm not taking him over Darien. I'm not taking him over Gibbs. Hell no. Yeah. I'm not taking him there.
24:42Shannon Sharpe:And I'm not taking, you know, I love Terry McClure, but I'm not taking him over Zay Flowers or AJ or Alman Ra. I'm not. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down. Slow down. You take him over AJ Brown? Hold on, you say you're not taking Terry McLaurin over St. Brown? No, I don't think I'd take him over St. Brown. Because it's, you know what, Elcho, let me tell you why it's hard. Wait a minute. Because one play specifically outside, the other is mainly inside. And so you look at Almond Ra. Almond Ra had, what, 100 and probably 15 catches? Yeah, yeah. He's customarily always over 100 catches because he's the slot.
25:24Shannon Sharpe:So what was his numbers? Amon Ra. You look up Amon Ra, I'm going to look up Terry McClure. That's interesting. I know T-Mac. I'm going to call him T-Mac. I'm going to call him T-Mac. I can't call him Scary Terry right now. I ain't call him Scary Terry until they pay him. Okay, Amon Ra was second in catches. Right. Fifth in yards, third in touchdowns. What he had in yards? By what? 1263 how many catches second in catches 115 god yes oh boy them boys ain't they be 115 passes no that's 115 catches he probably have 145 to 150 targets hey man I'm trying I wish I was able to do the math if you take my best season whatever it might have been and you did the numbers based on yards per catch i think my highest my highest total season is catches like 97 if i had 115 catches i wonder what my numbers would look like it's only a handful of guys gonna have that many catches when that's crazy you gotta look so you gotta look at somebody like a moss yes i mean are you looking at i mean i'm I'm talking about a speed guy, a guy that's outside, that's catching the balls like that.
26:51Shannon Sharpe:Man, they're going to be 1 ,600, 1 ,700 yards on show. Because if you think about it, you're averaging 15 yards a catch. You're averaging your best season. When you had 1 ,600 yards or high 15s, you was averaging 15 yards a catch. So just imagine 110, 115, 120, 30 catches. Imagine this during that time, me, TJ, Hoosh, Chris Henry. Imagine if we had what they have implemented in everybody's game plan today. those little quick screens, those little bubble screens. Those little quick passes where they get it in your hands and let you do what you... Man. Only a handful of teams running that. We started adopting that late, like my last year or two in Denver.
27:30Shannon Sharpe:Right. But prior to that, the only team that really did that was the Colts. Yeah. What about the Rams? What about the Rams? The Rams kind of started it. Right. With Isaac, with Azaher. Aza Keene. they would do it they would do it with Marshall Falk they would put Marshall Falk out and you know motion him and throw it to him Holt caught some of those Isaac Bruce and then now everybody just they'll just raise up and just throw the Falk the guy the guy will bubble he'll be in the slot and he'll bubble back and they'll pop it to him but it's a different game now Ocho we had our time we we played we played how we played because I can assure you I heard Ozzie and Kellen and all the guys like man I sure wish we threw the ball like y 'all threw it today.
28:17Shannon Sharpe:I'm like, oh, you think we throw it? Hell, I don't know if y 'all seen Denver's offense. There's a whole lot of throwing going on. Yeah. But look, Bengals 1, Eagles 2, Baltimore 3, Detroit 4, Kansas City 5. I would go Eagles 1, Baltimore 2. I agree with you. I would go Detroit 3, Kansas City 4. Not Kansas City, Cincinnati 4. Yeah, I was going to say, I ain't putting Pacheco them in front of Cincinnati. No, hell no. Yeah. That's my toss-up. My toss-up is do I put Detroit 3 and Cincinnati 4, or do I put Cincinnati 3 and leave Detroit at 4? But the Eagles and Baltimore should be 1-2. Well, hold on.
29:013? I'm doing Detroit at 3, and I'm putting the Bengals 4.
29:05Shannon Sharpe:And that's what I'm saying. That's what my toss-up is. Oh, okay, okay, okay. Listen, that's not even a toss-up for me. That's a no-brainer. Wow. That's a no-brainer on my end. But me, no-brainer is Eagles at one, Baltimore at two. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely.
29:24Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Cowboys. But, you know, we talked about Washington. We talked about, hell, well, no, they ain't got no quarterback. And I think I know Atlanta. Atlanta didn't really have the quarterback situation because I can't put that kind of stock. Because I like Atlanta's running back and I like Drake London. Hey, B. John is nice. Drake London is nice. I like Michael Pittman Jr. I like Jonathan Taylor, but I'm uncertain about their quarterback position. You see what I'm saying, Ocho? Yeah. I'm not sure about Minnesota. I know Jetta. I know Jones, but who's the quarterback? J.J. McCarthy. I ain't seen him throw not one NFL pass.
30:02We just saw with – why am I drawing a blank on the quarterback?
30:11Shannon Sharpe:Oh, you're talking about from Minnesota? Yeah, from last year. Why am I drawing a blank? In Seattle now.
30:20Sam Darnold. Sam Darnold. Listen, we saw Sam Darnold in New York. Yeah. Okay, we saw Sam Darnold. He was somewhere else before he went to Minnesota. He's with the Jets. He's with San Francisco. Bingo. We saw what he did. with the Minnesota Vikings last year. Historic run. Historic season for him individually. Right. So what do you think J.J. McCarthy going to come in and do? But you got to realize that I'm done. Jordan Addison is still there. Justin Jefferson is still there. He going to be all right. He can sling it now. You ain't really got to do much when you're a quarterback like that, even if it's going to be your first year playing.
31:01You're not a rookie. You're going into your second year. But what's around you is so great, all you have to do is just facilitate the ball and don't make any mistakes.
31:10Shannon Sharpe:But see, that's the thing. You see how you have to play. You talk about don't make any mistakes. Sam Darnold had a historic season. Yes. Now, the thing is, plus he has some season. He was seasoned. He understood this offense because it's a very similar offense to what they run in San Francisco. Right. So it's going to be interesting to see. But I understand why they didn't put him up there. Because I understand Jones. I understand Jetta. But I'm not sure about the quarterback position. Right. I'm just not. So. I mean, that's fair. Not the 49ers, the Chargers. What about the Chargers? Ladd McConkie, Justin Herbert.
31:47Shannon Sharpe:They got Najee Harris. But they do have Najee Harris now. That's right. That's right.

That's the reaction a lot of people are having when they first try Kewpie mayo. It's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle. You've probably seen it in the grocery store before. And if you've ever just walked past it, some people would say that's a huge mistake. Because this mayo is different. Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. Kewpie only uses egg yolks, which gives it this rich umami flavor.
33:02It's smoother, deeper, and almost buttery Once people try it, they start putting it on everything Egg sandwiches, fries, burgers Some fans even swear by dipping pizza crust in it And once you notice it, you start seeing it everywhere Chefs use it, restaurants use it People who really care about flavor use it Never tried it? Grab the bottle with the red cap next time you're at the store Put it on just about anything Then you'll understand Kupi, the original Japanese mayonnaise Hey sports fans, your away game road trip doesn't start at the kickoff It starts on the road. 34:28Shannon Sharpe:Jerry Jones chose the opening training camp by taking a shot at Michael Parsons. Ocho, let's take a listen to what Jerry had to say. Just because we signed him doesn't mean we're going to have him. He was hurt six games last year. Seriously. We've signed, I remember signing a player for the highest paid at the position in the league, and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year, Dak Prescott. so there's a lot of things you can think about when you just as the player does when you're thinking about committing and guaranteeing money he just can't help himself Dallas Cowboys fans Dallas Cowboys players this is your head coach this is your excuse me hey this is the man that he is the head coach huh this is the man that runs the show.
35:21This is the man. This lets you know in short term how they really feel about you. It's a big... After all that man has done. This is how they really feel about you. There's nothing like getting... taking a dig or taking a shot at your two-star players. Your two-star players... Oh, well, I made one the highest paid, but he missed it. Missed the season because of the injury. We play football. It's a contact sport. It's a barbaric sport. Sometimes injuries do happen.
35:53Shannon Sharpe:I remember he made another quarterback the highest paid, and he never took a shot at him, and he stayed injured. But that ain't none of my business. I don't even know why I brought that up, Ocho.
36:05Shannon Sharpe:This is who you have to go out there and play for. This is who you have to go out there and play for. I want to know, was Tony Romo— That is how your owner thinks about you. Yeah, but we know that. See, the thing is, OJ, see, I remember in 2016 when calling him up to oh but Jerry loves his players Jerry loves people that look like you and I that can do something for him don't you fool yourself it's a mistake that people make oh Jerry no no no no no no no Michael Irvin could do things for him Dez Bryant can do things for him Emmitt Smith could do things for him Charles Haley could do things for him Nate Newton, Larry Allen I could go on and on and on.
36:49Shannon Sharpe:Stop fooling yourself. Oh, out of the kindness of your heart. Okay. Okay. I have a question. And this is for the chat, for the people in the chat as well. If you played for the Cowboys organization, how would you feel as a player? Understanding that's how the man who runs the show and writes your checks felt about you. I already know how I feel about me. I've done my whole work. How does that even give you the motivation? You want to go out there and play for that man. Play for that man. Outside of the money. That's all I'm doing. See, he's upset at Dak because Dak has always has been posed him.
37:29Shannon Sharpe:Dak has always been what it was. You're the owner. I'm the player. A lot of players get close to Jerry. Dak has never allowed that to happen. Todd France comes in, does the negotiating, hard line. boom I'm up out of here Dak goes about his business Dak ain't trying to go to his house Dak is not trying to go out and hang out with him Dak is Dak, Dak does what he does Dak now has a family boom stricken business you see he taking a shot at Michael because Michael wouldn't let him glaze him oh it's between me and the player you never did a deal with just the player when the player had representation but you know what it's going to cost you because you let Max Crosby get a new deal.
38:18Shannon Sharpe:You let Miles Garrett get a new deal. You let TJ Watt get a big new deal. And guess what? Michael Parsons is three to four years younger in all of them. So guess what he's about to do? Poll vault him. So whatever TJ Watt got, Michael Parsons is going to get a million to$2 million more. And don't give me that junk. I play in Texas. Oh, well, I do. I know it ain't no state income tax, And I'm glad for that. So that$42 ,000,$43 million, Uncle Sam's only going to get 36 % of it. No state taxes. Right. And I'm understanding, obviously, I wanted to text Micah. I wanted to call him. But I was like, you know what?
38:58I'm not even going to bother him. Just ask. How do you feel? How does that make you feel? And I'm just thinking about.
39:04Shannon Sharpe:This is my owner thinks about me. Now, what about the time before he missed some games? but I guarantee you there's some games that he should have missed more because I know Michael has some issues going on, but that ain't none of my business. I don't even know why I brought that up again. Damn, I keep telling people business. You know how many times all of us have played the game of football and went out there anyway? Yeah. Had to take toward all pills, had to take toward all shots, just to line up and play for the same thing. Yeah, Zala came, Mark came, yeah, court of zone, yes, all that. shooting up in your shoulders and your knees not why i shoot my knees up i shot my ankles up shot my shoulders up ribs did all that ocho did all that i mean i mean how do we not how do we not understand or just have any self-awareness where that's the kind of stuff that you say to yourself but you never say out loud about the players that are on your team you don't say stuff like that out loud had the nerves dead in my ankles so i couldn't feel no pain the whole that's what nerves do they allow you to feel pain and say, okay, hey, bro, back off that.
40:10Shannon Sharpe:I had my nerves and my ankles dead so I couldn't feel pain so I could go out there and play. And then to have somebody talk like that, man, please, I'd have lost it. I'd have lost it. Hey, you know what's funny is when you think about the owners, obviously it's 32 owners, I think Jerry is the only one with the cojones to come out and say how he really feels. No one else would do that. That's why. What you saw today, nobody else would do that. No, why wouldn't? But see, that's what Jerry wanted to be about him. See, Jerry don't want no superstar. Because you know why he want a superstar? Because he would never take a Tom Brady.
40:51Shannon Sharpe:He would never. He couldn't play for Peyton Manning. Because they'd be bigger than he is. And he don't want that to happen. Right. I've been very fortunate. I played for two owners. Mr. Bowling, I did something for his family today. Yes, sir. But Ocho, it was about us. We were the superstars. He was telling me all the time, Sharpen, I ain't catching no passes. Sharpen, I ain't making no tackles. Why the hell I need to be up there and talking and carrying on? That's what I pay you guys for. I say, and you play us quite well. I don't get why Jerry felt to open up training camp like this. I don't know.
41:35Shannon Sharpe:everything that comes up doesn't need to come out right but michael oh what you're thinking doesn't need to be said every little thought especially stuff that you know is going to ruffle people's feathers catch media headlines hell the only thing that should be catching headlines today is cowboys opened up training camp and george pickens looks motherfucking good excuse my language sorry george piggins look good day one that's it that without which that should be the conversation not what you said about that what you said about michael man come on jj watt took to uh uh twitter well excuse me x to defend him anytime you can publicly take a dig at your star quarterback and your young star pass rusher simultaneously right before the season begins, you got to just take it.
42:28Shannon Sharpe:Nothing makes guys want to fight for you more than hearing how upset you are that they got hurt while fighting for you. Micah reposted that. No discount for you, Jerry. Wait, hold on. What if he didn't... Excuse me. What if he even goes worse? What if Micah says, you know, that's how you feel about me? Trade me. Aren't you traders? Yeah. Then what? Then what? And the funny thing, the funny thing about me, I'm just finding out all about Jerry's ways because I never played for the Cowboys. And obviously when I was playing, you know, I'm blind to what's going on over there. But Unk, you don't want to introduce me and told me about the whole thing with Jimmy Johnson.
43:17Yeah. So that raised my eyebrows, but I thought, okay, maybe that's just, okay, maybe that's just a one-off. Maybe they just had a disagreement and he's not really like that, but they got into it.
43:28Shannon Sharpe:He thought after three years, he hired 89 with Jimmy's first year. That's the year he took over. He brought the, I think, Bum Bright. I think that's who he brought the Cowboys from. So he took over him and Jimmy in 89 because Troy was their first draft pick. They won the championship in 92, won it again in 93, again in 95. So in four years, so 89, 90, 91, 92. So in the fourth year, he thought he knew more football than Jimmy. Now, see, what Jimmy could do, Jimmy was coming from college at the U. So all these guys that's coming out, guess who knew him? Because he tried to recruit him at the U. Yeah.
44:06Shannon Sharpe:See, Jerry thinks because somebody handed him a piece of paper that they've done all the work for him. See, Jerry's that guy that does no part of the project, but he gets an A. You ain't do nothing. You just happen to own the team. You did nothing. Jimmy the scouts the evaluators they did all the work it burned him it burned him that Jimmy got the credit everybody gave Jimmy the credit and he wanted Jimmy to toast him
44:41that's that's a tough spot to be in for a player um it has to be just to hear that from your owner has to be a tough spot to be in. You know? He's running it. It's supposed to be a football team. It's supposed to be an organization, but you're running it like, I'm not going to say the P word. You're running it like the P word. Ocho. As long as... You saw Django? Yes. You saw Django? Okay. Okay, you see where I'm going, yeah? Okay, you're running it like that. You don't say that about the players that you're paying. you don't complain oh i i made the quarterback the highest state because you fucking waited to
45:22Shannon Sharpe:pay him you waited to the last minute you waited to the last minute you would got michael parsons on the fifth year option so you waited to the last minute and he said it and i used to say this all the time i am not going to give i would give you a discount if you sign me with a couple years left because now you're giving me guaranteed money i'm not giving you a discount if you make me get to the punctuation. The end. No, bro. I got to get maximum dollar out of you. Max value. But see, here's the thing, Ocho. I know who Jerry is. And as long as they know who Jerry is, they should never have a problem with it.
46:02Shannon Sharpe:He applauds what you do, not who you are.
46:07Shannon Sharpe:It's transactional to him. You can provide a service, a damn good one. He's going to pat you on the back but if you think it's anything more than that you're sadly mistaken sadly mistaken hey man that's that's i ain't never heard nothing like that now i know a lot of them think like that one thing to think but they actually say it out loud bro listen see a lot of times people want to they'll take what he says about them but I listen to what he says about everything else and how he handles everything else that told me a lot yeah oh your toes are going to be on the line your hands going to be over the heart oh oh oh doing that oh yeah yeah yeah I see where we go with this yeah I see what I see how you think yeah I mean listen it's unfortunate it'll be you I hate to talk like I said I know Michael Little I like him a lot great personality know his representative but I'm going to be very very disappointed if y 'all don't rake Jerry ass across the coast if y 'all don't get at least 42 43 million dollars if y 'all don't get if y 'all don't get 10 million if y 'all don't get 5 million more than what TJ Watt got TJ got 3 years 143 million he got 108 guaranteed with 1 year oh man y 'all better to get your 115 million.
47:36Shannon Sharpe:Guaranteed. Fully guaranteed. As a matter of fact, Jerry, since you've been nasty, I want 100 of it in signing. I want 100 of it in signing. As soon as I sign it out of line, I'm not even shaking hands. Hey. I'm not even shaking hands. I'm happy to be a cowboy, but I'm more happy than I get to secure my family. This is generational wealth. My family, my dad, my brother, hey, we good now. that's crazy
48:10he really said that out loud yeah
48:15Shannon Sharpe:but that's Ocho don't you like that let me know where I stand with you far too many times I just need to know see that's the difference between the south and the north and the south you know they don't like it they tell you yeah I don't like you bub as opposed to hiding right yeah tell y 'all what he think Michael actually reported a training camp today despite the contract standoff should Michael trust Jerry Jones enough to report the camp yeah I'm gonna report the camp I'm gonna report the camp I don't want to get no money back I don't want to but I just
49:06Shannon Sharpe:because they've tried to that's another thing Ocho see see what they put in there now hey there's no forgiveness it doubles I mean what did it start at 15 ,000 30 ,000 you missed 10 15 days of practice that's over a million dollars that the team can't forgive yeah Yeah. But now that you know, you go in there, you know, you play the game. Hey, I'm playing for the name on the back of my jersey. I'm playing for the name on the back of my jersey. F that name on the front because that's what you said to me. Yeah, basically, basically, and not so many words. Yeah, that's crazy. So. Hey Go do what you do Micah I hope Micah get 25 sacks And the 40 million you're going to pay That's 50 now 50 million Micah Hopefully you get a contract extension What's Micah playing What's his 50 option 20 what
50:25because he's outside he's the edge over here dn 24 me micah all you do is that you pay your
50:33Shannon Sharpe:monthly expenses don't you buy nothing don't you buy a car don't you hey tell your mom and dad say hey, look here. There'll be no expenses going on. I'm going to pay my rent. I'm going to pay X, Y, and Z. I'm just going to pay monthly expenses. I'm going to sit tight. Because if this, you know what, try to franchise me, I'm not coming. I'm not signing no franchise tag. I'm not signing a franchise tag. I'm not going to do it. You think you would play with him? Yeah. you do realize here's the thing Ocho you didn't do it to me now so you've made me run the gauntlet two years in a row well oh no bro I got to hit you over the head with a heavy hammer yes absolutely if I'm Michael yes the price goes the price goes up 10 % every year that you don't get this done so right now it's 42 million you don't pay me this year guess what it's a 10 % increase,$46 million, and plus another 10 % on the guaranteed money.
51:46I don't... Does he purposely... What is the method? You did it with CeeDee Lamb. You did it with Dak. You did it with D.K. Elliott. What's the purpose of the last
51:56Shannon Sharpe:minute? He's thinking they're going to give him a discount. I'm not giving you a discount when you're making me run to the last year of the contract, Ochoa. I'm not. see he thought that would give him a discount like Wentz and golf gave their team discounts but those teams they were first and second overall pick they got huge their total contract was guaranteed they got four they got 35 million they got 32 million fully guaranteed right I don't know what that was a fourth round pick so I don't really know what those numbers are then three years into the deal, they give a new contract. That is what they did with that.
52:35Shannon Sharpe:So, Ocho, I've already gotten$32,$33 billion guaranteed. Plus, you come to me early. Okay, I'll give you a little discount. I'll help you. I'll help the salary cap. Right. Understandable. I'm not giving you a discount when I'm that low of a draft pick my first contract. Now, first one, I'm trying to split your dome. oh yes absolutely now i might give you one the second one but that's my choosing no you say oh oh you know you tell me uh that's you know football business and let football people do football things well i'm gonna let y 'all handle that salary cap so my job is not to try to help y 'all manage y 'all salary cap i'm trying to extract because i care just about as much as winning as you do.
53:23Shannon Sharpe:Jerry Jones has shown you over the last 30 years he doesn't care about winning. So guess what? Me either. Quiet confidence. It's not what you see. It's what you feel.
