I would like for him to make an announcement already so he can finish the schedule. No, so you can finish the schedule.
7:10Shannon Sharpe:Because as you might imagine, the teams are calling us, networks are calling us, and everybody wants to lock in the schedule. But it will influence how we set up the schedule, how we set up opening week, Christmas Day, et cetera. Ho, now why would – Joe, Ocho, I need somebody to explain to me. Why would they be waiting on the guy that nobody wants? You know why, huh? You know why. They keep telling us nobody wants this guy. No, no, no, no, no. Listen, you and I both know that... Is that me? What happened? I don't hear nothing. That's the connection.
7:54Shannon Sharpe:I hear him in and out. I think it's my connection. Say something, Joe. What's up? Okay, check this out. From what we've been told, a lot of analysts, nobody wants LeBron, yada, yada, yada. But the commissioner's saying, look, I need this man to hair up and make a schedule because networks are calling us. They want to lock things in. Open at night, Christmas Day games, very important games. For somebody that no one wants, the NBA is show-assin' an awful lot of this man. Wouldn't you say, Joe, no joke? I understand that. Now, obviously, some teams may not want him because of his age, but he's still a draw.
8:33He's probably still the biggest draw. Wherever LeBron goes, the world follows. People want to see. It changes the dynamic to everything, especially with the NBA schedule, which is why Adam Silver said what he says. Now, there might be some team to say, oh, you know, we don't need him based on what we have already. But LeBron is still the biggest draw in the NBA, depending on where he goes. he can play stadium by himself Joe he can play the arena by himself
9:02Chad Johnson:you're absolutely right Ocho he's the biggest draw and guess what he know it he damn know it he knows that everybody's waiting and anticipating on where he's gonna go I ain't saying he gonna draw it out but he gonna take his time with it do I think he already you know kind of know where he wants to go I think he does okay Ocho I agree I think he does and hopefully in the next day or so we'll get that. Man, listen, Bron moving on his own time. He ain't moving on any time. He understand that part, so I think he's just kind of, you know, just stringing us along just a little bit, Ocho. Just a little bit.
9:41Shannon Sharpe:He said, for the past 23 years, I've done everything on your time. I've been on your schedule. I've done everything that you've asked me to do. I've been a model citizen. I've done everything right. I've conducted myself and I've tried to be the greatest of great ambassadors for the NBA. Just allow me this to make sure this is the right decision for me because this could potentially be my last decision that I make when it involves an NBA roster, an NBA team. And so I'm going to take as much time as I need. Do I think he has a general idea? Yeah, I think he's probably 90%, 95 % certain of kind of where he wants to go and kind of what he wants to do and what he's looking for.
10:24Shannon Sharpe:Because, look, the teams are not going to drastically change. I mean, they could. There might be some wranglings behind the scenes that guys we don't know about. We hear stuff about Cleveland potentially moving for Kyrie and Anthony Davis. I think that seems like more pie in the sky to me than anything. Golden State has what they have with the exception of a few pieces. Miami kind of has what they have. You know what you got in Cleveland. you know what you have in Philly. So the rosters are kind of, I would say, 95%, 98 % locked in to what you're going to have. Maybe there's a player here or there that you could add that who knows.
11:03Shannon Sharpe:But I think LeBron is kind of like, okay, this is probably my last bite of the NBA apple. Yeah. I'm going to make sure I get this thing right.
11:12Chad Johnson:You're absolutely right. What did you think, Ojo?
11:14Shannon Sharpe:I mean, I said it. Go ahead, Joe. Go ahead. Go ahead, Joe.
11:17Chad Johnson:No, I'm going to say I think he does. I think he wouldn't mind playing with Steph Curry and Draymond and Golden State. But there's so many different variables that have to happen. Meaning, you know, whether you bring in another guy with him, I think that's kind of what's holding this up. I think he kind of knows where he wants to go, but it's just like going to Cleveland. Hell, if I could go back to Cleveland and I got Donovan and Kyrie, you know, that probably sound a little better than having James. No knock on James, but I think the history that Kyrie and Bron has, going back to Cleveland, that'll be must-see TV.
11:52Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? And I think the Miami thing is sexy, Ocho. I think it's sexy, bro. I do. I really do. I mean, to see Bron running that break with Giannis and Bam, and, man, you surround him with great shooting. I mean, it's hard. Hey, listen. Like I said, I think I'm about what you are.
12:14Shannon Sharpe:You might be lying though, Ocho. Joe. Huh? Because for somebody, I mean, Pat Riley said today when he was at the podium, at the desk with Giannis, he says he's been in constant communication with Rich Paul.
12:28Chad Johnson:Yeah.
12:28Shannon Sharpe:And the conversation has been going great. Now, either they're lying, trying to make it seem like nobody want LeBron, or Pat Riley's lying. Now, which is it? Now, what you want to say, what do you think has happened, Ocho? I mean, I've already told y 'all multiple times on this show what was going to happen. Now, I'm just waiting on everything to play out. You know, I told you what it was. I told you, hey, Uncle Joe, I sat in the rooms with Pat and Mickey. I've been in there. I know more of y 'all think I'll be playing. How do you think I guessed some of this stuff? How did you think I knew Giannis was coming?
13:00How do you think I knew Giannis was looking for Howell and Joe two months before he even came to Miami? Like, I know y 'all don't take me serious sometimes, but when I tell you something, man, it's solid. LeBron will be here. Now when he gonna make the announcement, I don't know. I don't know what he waiting for if I was him I understand I've done everything y 'all wait for a very long time Let me do things on my time because my next move has to be my best move because I'm having another one after this
13:26Shannon Sharpe:You know what not that's why I'm taking my time. That's why I'm taking my time making my announcement You know
13:36Shannon Sharpe:Don't worry about O'Shea. She goes with Shea step up.
13:39Chad Johnson:Yeah
13:45Chad Johnson:I've never made I've never made an announcement like this hey hey hey listen check this out check this out when you see that pinky finger go up like that that take a sip hey just know hey count me in or cut it out okay huh I see what's going on We in. Oh, okay. All right. All right. Yeah, count me in too. I don't care where you're going, but I'll be there. Yeah, I'm just saying.
14:12Shannon Sharpe:You know what I'm saying? Hey, you know what I make this announcement? Damn. Y 'all know I don't really make no announcements. I don't really make no announcements. That ain't my style. What? Listen, it's only two. I'm more of a creep dog. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Creep, creep, creep, creep, y 'all. Creep, creep, creep, creep, creep, creep, creep, creep, creep. There are only two announcements that you can make. There are only two announcements that you can make that are of importance, where it requires everybody to listen. Only two. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. So one of them, I'm already ready, because I think all three of us should do that in 2027.
14:45The other one is something I told you. I bet, yeah. It's another one I told you you should do.
14:50Shannon Sharpe:You got to come out stepping, baby.
14:53Chad Johnson:Hold on. What's the other one? What's the other one you talking about? Hey, you know. You know. You know, it keep you young. It keep you real young. and get one of them.
15:02Shannon Sharpe:No, no, the pipes, the pipes, the pipes that rust it over, Joe. Oh, Joe and Joe. The pipes rust it over. The pipes rust it over. They're clogged. They're clogged, yeah. You know, technology is a moth moth these days. Now, we can fix that. Mm-mm. They cut the line? Nah. They ain't cut it. Nah, it just done clogged, you know, rust, done nothing, you know, clawed, and it been spitting out. You know, I have been, you know, upkeep on it like I supposed to.
15:28Chad Johnson:Oh, okay. Just dilapidated a little bit. Fix that. Don't worry about it.
15:30Shannon Sharpe:Fix that.
15:31Chad Johnson:Yeah.
15:32Shannon Sharpe:No, I want them to fix it. I want them to leave it alone. I want them to... Joe, I want them to leave it alone. Don't fix it. That's the last thing I want. I just say the thing. Guys, you know, as we get older and situations become more and more important, it takes us longer. We were young. We make a decision like this. Hello. And sometimes it wasn't the best decision. We were quick to make a snap judgment. If it seemed good, it sounded good, damn where are the options. Let's go make it happen. I think as you start to get older, you start to become more methodical. You become more deliberate in your actions.
16:13Shannon Sharpe:And I think LeBron knows. Year 24, he got uncharted territory because he was still playing at a supreme level at year 20. And he played at a supreme level at 21. And he played great. He was an all-NBA player in year 22, which is unprecedented. I don't know if anybody's been an all-NBA selection at year 18, 19, let alone year 20, 21, and 22.
Read the full transcript
16:35Chad Johnson:Yeah.
16:36Shannon Sharpe:And even last year averaging 21, 6, and 7, which is still great numbers. But when you compare them to LeBron James, obviously it's not what we're accustomed to. But with that being said, Joe, you say the next one or two days. Joe, you think it's the next one to two days? I think he has I think I have to agree with you guys I think next 3 to 5 business days we're going to know something and when those next 3 to 5 business days happen and that decision is made I would love an apology from both of you again you know I would love for you to say you know what Ocho I would love y 'all to say you know what Ocho well you was right now we doubted you once again and you knew what you was talking about
17:21Chad Johnson:hey Ocho I ain't saying y 'all ain't in the race. Hell, I just don't think y 'all in first place. That's all I'm saying. Okay, well, you know how races go. Just because a person in the league don't mean they're going to win. Yeah. I understand that. It ain't about how you start. It's how you finish. I understand that. I understand that. It's time. Yeah. Yeah, okay.
17:40Shannon Sharpe:It all depends on who in the race and what race you're running. If I'm running 800 meters and I got David Rediscia, I know he runs from the front. So, hey, if you start in the back, that's where you're going to finish. You not catching him. Because he's going to set a blister in place. You know what I'm saying? You're going to set that blister in place kind of like your boy. You know, I said that at a mean pace, mean demonstration. You jackrabbit off jump? Oh, there you go. No, I'm asking.
18:06Chad Johnson:I was talking about. Hey, Joe. Why everything got to be so sexual? I'll just ask the question. You jackrabbit off jump. Why would you use, if you talk about the 800, why would you use jack rabbit which is for for short distance races man i just asked the question hey look we all grown here you understand i'm saying i'm i'm just asking a question
18:31Shannon Sharpe:you know i thought i thought the problem is ocho but you notice what you what you thought what you
18:36Chad Johnson:thought ocho i thought hey listen i thought slow and steady wins the race that's what i thought
18:41Shannon Sharpe:Not an 800, you don't.
18:44Chad Johnson:Oh, not an 800. Oh, okay, I ain't no track and field guy.
18:47Shannon Sharpe:Ain't no slow. All races, unless everything is a marathon. Did you not see that guy go sub two hours in the marathon? Everything is a sprint now, Joe.
18:57Chad Johnson:Oh, okay, okay.
18:59Shannon Sharpe:The lady just went the ultra marathon, 100 miles, and broke the record by like 23 hours. Everything is a sprint. Slow and steady only pertains to meat, slow and steady. We will cook this thing about 250, 275, and we will let that thing cook for 12, 14 hours. If we cooking meat, you know what I'm saying?
19:24Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:25Shannon Sharpe:But I guess I'd be theoretically you are cooking meat, you know what I'm saying, I mean, nevermind.
19:33Shannon Sharpe:Nevermind.
19:34Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, okay.
19:39Shannon Sharpe:But in all seriousness, Adam Silver wants LeBron James no matter where he goes. He wants him on Christmas, and he wants him on opening night.
19:49Chad Johnson:Yes, sir. It's a must-have.
19:52Shannon Sharpe:That's what he wants to happen. And there have been some great guys coming to the – look, there's some shifts. Jalen Brown has moved on, and you got Giannis moved on. But I don't give a damn. Where'd LeBron go? LeBron James is going to open up on opening night, and he going to be on Christmas Day. Now, you can bet your last time. Absolutely. So, y 'all get your tickets now to the Cassella Center.
20:13Chad Johnson:You hear me? Hey, look, I know a lot of people are going to have a lot to say. You know, us talking about LeBron and whatnot, but I promise y 'all, chat, y 'all hear me out. Y 'all going to miss that man when he gone, bro. What he's done for the game is incredible, dog. Like, to be able to sustain greatness for this long, we've never seen nothing like it. So to be going 42 years old, bro, and still playing at a high level, still affecting the game, still got people coding him to the point they want him to come join the team, it's unbelievable. I can't wait to see it. So I'm looking forward to this new regime and where he's going to go and the guys he's going to be playing with, Uncle Ocho.
20:55Chad Johnson:Hey, I think the boy is going to put on the show.
20:59Shannon Sharpe:all right check this out uh pat riley was sitting there talking to after he got against yonis and they had the honest you know yonis say five minutes to heat tweeted out five minutes after getting here he's already in the jail after landing yonis pat riley made right now the greatest tournament on the planet is happening on home soil and the whole world showed up every match somebody's dream ends and somebody becomes a legend and if you're feeling all of it the nerves the heartbreak, the pure joy, you need people to feel it with. Here's a way to start a conversation. Your family is going over to your neighbor's home for dinner for the first time. How would you ask if there are any unlocked guns in the home?
24:46Chad Johnson:Hey! Hey, we're so excited for tonight. Before we come over, though, may I ask if there are any unlocked guns in your home? Our guns are stored securely, locked in a safe that the kids can't access. Awesome. Learn how to have the conversation at AgreeToAgree.org. Brought to you by the Ad Council.
25:03Shannon Sharpe:It's known his pursuit of LeBron. Let's take a listen to what Pat had to say today. Yeah, we landed the plane. Now there's another one we have to land, but I just want to. Hey. Landed one. He said we got to land one more plane.
25:25Shannon Sharpe:All right, hold it right there. Look at your altitude gauge. You're doing great. Slow down. You're doing great. Altitude 7 ,000. 6 ,500. 6 ,000 5
25:43Shannon Sharpe:Hey, it's only a matter of time Alright, let your landing gear down I let the landing gear down Yeah, yeah
25:52Chad Johnson:Slow and steady
25:53Shannon Sharpe:You got a nice little wind at your back Slow it down a little bit more 5 ,000, 4 ,500 You coming a little hot, slow it down Arch Arch Arch Hey, listen.
26:09Chad Johnson:Everything moving fast. He's not doing nothing but just, you know, reiterating what I've already said. You know, I say mine loud. I say mine loud and clear. He say he's in riddle format. Hmm. Hey, y 'all got some more. So you said Pat Riley got this thing in autopilot. It's been in autopilot since I told you. Huh? You hear me? Ah, nah. Ah, nah. He working. He working. He working. He landed a big fish in Giannis to entice Bron. I get all that. I get all that. But he still got some damn work to do.
26:41Shannon Sharpe:Hey. Yeah. Hey, listen. Hey, guess what? Hey, guess what? Hey, guess what he doing behind the scenes?
26:47Chad Johnson:What he doing?
26:50Shannon Sharpe:Hey, man. Giving those cookies back? I was wrong. I was wrong. He apologizes? Nah. Because you got to realize. Joe. Joe. Hey, you know. Hey, Joe. Oh, you know you want that one back? Yeah. What you do, Ojo? What you do when you got a good, I'm talking about a mean one. The one that can lay down a mean demonstration.
27:10Chad Johnson:Down on bending knees, boys and men. Yeah.
27:13Shannon Sharpe:I already know it. I got you something.
27:17Chad Johnson:Yeah.
27:18Shannon Sharpe:I got you something. Yeah. She ain't even asked for it.
27:21Chad Johnson:Yeah.
27:22Shannon Sharpe:She got a hundred roses. Ain't even asked for them. Ooh.
27:28Chad Johnson:Yeah.
27:28Shannon Sharpe:Cause when you know you wrong, and you know you got something,
27:35Shannon Sharpe:say you won't do right when you will. Hello, hello.
27:41Chad Johnson:But I'ma tell you, pal old school, he ain't apologizing about them damn cookies. Now going forward, we ain't gonna have no problem, but yeah. Yeah, let's get this thing going, boy. to have Braun at the helm.
27:59Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Braun, Braun. You're right, Joe. Sometimes the old people are like, man, let bygones be bygones. That was yesterday. Yeah, but, hey, as a matter of fact, I'm still mad about yesterday. You took my damn cookie in the trash. Jordan, come here.
28:12Chad Johnson:Right, right. 67.
28:14Shannon Sharpe:65. Damn. Yeah. But it's going to be very interesting. Look, Braun might be one of the most forgiving people that I know. considering what the Cleveland owner said, Dan Gilbert,
28:29Chad Johnson:said about him in his first exit for him to go back four years later.
28:33Shannon Sharpe:You got to think about it. There's been a 12-year gap from what Pat Riley may have said, what Pat Riley may have done. He went back at the four. The man took out an ad. The man called him the fake king and said he was going to win the championship before he did.
28:49Chad Johnson:Hey, but you know how it is. It's just like when you and Charlotte break up. You know, them emotions high. You know, she probably going to talk bad about it. You know how it go. You know how it go. It'll eventually kind of set itself out. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah.
29:05Shannon Sharpe:That's why I say, hold on. Listen, let's just take a day or two because I don't want you to say something that you'll regret and I don't want to say something that I'll regret because you got to be careful when you speak angry because, you know, the old people should say, boy, the tongue got a thousand snakes. It's venomous.
29:23Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
29:26Shannon Sharpe:You gotta be careful. Word, words hurt. There's, hold on. The Bible teaches us there's power in the tongue. You have to be careful because remember, hey, listen to how people talk to you when they're angry. They've been dying to tell you this. Yeah.
29:47Chad Johnson:Big face.
29:49Shannon Sharpe:Watch when somebody get angry, somebody get drunk. Then all of a sudden, a drunk mouth speaks sober thoughts.
30:01Chad Johnson:Hey, that's why it's called liquid curse. Angry. Yeah.
30:05Shannon Sharpe:Man. Yeah. I can't. Yeah. So you got to be careful. That's why, you know, look, that's why I'm very careful. when I get upset and I'm arguing with the opposite sex I'm very careful because I'm not going to call you no B I'm not going to call you no guard tool I'm not going to call you out of your name I'm not going to talk about your family let's just take some time you're upset, I'm upset I don't want to say something that I'll regret I don't want you to say something you'll regret because there's some things it's crossing the road we've gone too far ain't no coming back.
30:46Chad Johnson:But they know what to cross though. They know what line to cross though, Ocho, you know, that'll see you there.
30:55Shannon Sharpe:They definitely know what to push though. Yeah, and so that's why I say, look, listen, give me a couple, hey, give me a minute, give me a date. Give me some time. I don't, I got sister. I got a mom, had a grandma, got daughters. I don't want nobody to call them out their name, so I'm very conscious not to to call a female out of her name.
31:16Chad Johnson:Yeah.
31:19Shannon Sharpe:Let's cool ahead for bail. You're upset, I'm upset, I'm real agitated right now. We gonna be okay.
31:28Chad Johnson:Yeah.
31:29Shannon Sharpe:Even if we come back to a point that we're right here and we don't go back, we're not back together. Let's just part on good terms. I know a lot of times it's hard for people, Ocho and Joe, when you've been together with somebody for an extended period of time and then all of a sudden you break up, they'll let the last three months, they'll let the last six months, they'll let the last year supersede the five years, the six years, the eight years that you guys been together. Yeah. Bye.
32:03Chad Johnson:Hey, what sticks out in the mind is only the bad. You know, you don't remember a lot of the good. You know what I mean? But the bad put a stain on the brain so tough that it's hard not to forget it. You know what I mean? Not to remember it. You know what I mean? So I get it, bro. I get it. I get it, too.
32:24Shannon Sharpe:That's why I ain't trying to rekindle shit. Go down and look at your comments. Ocho, Ocho, Ocho great. Ocho the best right runner in the NFL. Ocho with this. Ocho with that. Man, Ocho had an eight right. Ocho had to dig what he's supposed to do and stop all that antics. Ocho could have been talked about like Tio read them all. All the other great comments that they committed, the one negative, that's just the way the mind is trained. Because you hear the boos more than you hear the applause. I don't know why we wired like that, but we just are.
32:59But I'm not going to sit here
33:02Shannon Sharpe:and say that I've been perfect when dealing with someone like that. But I've always been conscious. I don't call women out of their name. Because, like I said, I got a sister. I got a mom, and I hold my daughters and my sister and my mom in very, very high regard. And I don't want nobody. And I was like, look, there's some things you can't take back, and I don't want you to step across the line that you can't potentially come back. Because you know how it is. Sometimes you say things, and you get everybody involved in your business, and the next thing you know, they see y 'all holding hands. They see y 'all walking down the street.
33:37Shannon Sharpe:They see y 'all somewhere loved up. And now you done got me all agitated. I'm about to want to do something too, old boy. And now y 'all back together?
33:44Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, hey, hey. Now they creeping because they creeping because now they know they did it wrong for getting people in their business. You know what I'm saying? Now you got real beef with somebody. Like, hold on. And you back with this joker? Oh, man, please. Stop wasting my time, bro.
34:01Shannon Sharpe:Yes.
34:02Chad Johnson:Yeah.
34:02Shannon Sharpe:That's why you have to be careful intervening in relationships. Because here I am, I'm step-by-two, oh boy, you can't do that right there. And the next thing you know, guess what? They back together. Yeah, man, we back together. Huh? After I had to put you up, after I had to get her a hotel room, now y 'all back together?
34:23Chad Johnson:Right.
34:24Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all call me slinging snot and everything? Oh, don't call me no more. Neither one of you. Yeah, yeah. That's how it happened too, bro. We've all been there. We've all been there. Damn. Yeah, man, Sharp. I'm done. I'm done with this. You're not done. Speaking of LeBron James, he spoke on his decision today. Let's take a listen to what LeBron had to say. The family portion is a big thing too. You know, my daughter and my wife and things of that nature. I'm a big family guy. So there's a lot of things that's, you know, people are like, hurry up and make a goddamn decision, Brian. It's like, okay, it's not just about the team.
35:08Shannon Sharpe:So many other factors that I'm, you know, factoring in right now on what, you know, not only best fit me as a player, what best fit me as a person, what best fit me as my happiness, and also with my family as well. So there's a lot of – I won't hold you guys up too much longer, but the family portion is huge for me. I like that. The most important piece to LeBron's foundation, Uncle Joe, the most important piece to LeBron's foundation is family in Savannah. That's the base. That's the basis. Everything he's built is built on that foundation. That foundation has always been strong. So making sure that's right before any decision is made, it's only right.
35:56It's only right. And it has to make sense.
36:00Chad Johnson:And I think for Bron -
36:03Shannon Sharpe:It's hard to tear down a house that has a strong foundation. Go ahead, Joe.
36:07Chad Johnson:Yeah, and Bron, although I do think family does play a major part in this, that's why I kind of exclude Philly. I don't really, I can't even see him going to Philly no more. That's so far east? Yeah, it's just so far east. And it's unfamiliar. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? And I think with Bron, that's why I say, man, I think it's about three teams, bro. And hopefully we get that decision here soon. But it's going to change the landscape of basketball, fellas. Like, it's still at his big age. He's still able to be effective. He's still able to change the game. He's still able to control the game.
36:44Chad Johnson:That's why he's so valuable at, what,$15 million.
36:49Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And plus, here's another thing. All the guys that's moved team, name the player that you've been on watch for waiting for him to make a decision what he's going to do. The guy that's about to be 42 has held the whole NBA world up waiting on what he is going to do.
37:15Chad Johnson:Well, he is him, man. He's the king, fellas. I mean, at the end of the day, I'll get Ocho Hell. When he's done, he's going to have all the records, bro. You know, you can talk about rings all you want to, but he's going to sit at the chopper, all the major statistical categories. You know what I mean? Like, he's just going to continue to add to that scoring title, and it's going to be unreachable, bro. It's going to be hard to see a guy catch that.
37:42Shannon Sharpe:I mean, when you talk about 20 all NBA selections?
37:46Chad Johnson:Yeah.
37:46Shannon Sharpe:21 all nba selections 21 21 19 or 20 i think it's 20 all nba selections 13 first team all nba selections 22 all-star selections 22 starts 21 starts as an all as an all-star so and then he later joked at the fanatics fest with tyrese halliburton let's take a listen with him joking
38:23Chad Johnson:about
38:30Chad Johnson:And he having fun with it man, of course, hey and I think I think in his age this is good bro This is good for the game. I mean, here, we've never seen this before. Man, let him enjoy it. Let him go out how you want to go out because, like you said, this is probably his last stop. Yeah, for sure.
38:53Shannon Sharpe:And I don't know why, but I think he's going to probably be – because a lot of guys, you look at Jordan, Jordan vanished and went away. Jordan really don't do anything. Jordan don't really talk. Jordan is around NASCAR. He don't really come to a whole lot of events, especially NBA-related. the thing that he came to, what, with the 75th anniversary. But if you go back and look at finals, Jordan don't come to stuff like that. He's really not, he's really, we know what he is, but he's kind of like, I'm doing my own thing. Magic is around a little bit more, but you see Bird is kind of vanished. Isaiah's around a little bit more.
39:25Shannon Sharpe:But for the most part, your Pantheon guys, they kind of vanish. I can see LeBron doing that. I can see LeBron not being as visible. Obviously, now it's kind of hard not to be visible when you're a current player in the NBA. But I don't see him as a guy that, I mean, he's going to want to own a team, but I just don't know if can he pull the people together and go get it. Because, you know, you see what teams are going for now. They're going for$10 billion.
39:54Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah. They're going for$10 billion. Hold on, hold on, hold on. You don't think he can put a team together to be able to go buy a professional team? I think, but here, the problem is being the face of it.
40:09Shannon Sharpe:Now, he might be, yeah, they might put, you know, he might, okay, we want you to be the face of it. But, boy, 10 billion, 10 % of 10 billion is a billion dollars. And he wanted the team in Vegas. They're already, they're already, they're already, the guy that owned the Las Vegas Knights, they're going to, somebody else just got involved with, I forget. There was another big-time guy, Joe, that got involved. You hear, you know, I don't think, I mean, I've heard his name with so many baseball, football, basketball teams, Jeff Bezos, but I don't really see him as being a, I don't see him. He doesn't strike me as one of those guys that would be involved.
40:52Shannon Sharpe:He doesn't strike me as that guy. I could be wrong. I could have misreaded.
41:01Chad Johnson:Hey, in Vegas, though, Uncle Ocho, I mean, not that he probably need a hell of an investment, but that's a hell of an investment, bro. That's going to do something.
41:13Shannon Sharpe:Yo, he could have bought the commanders. What is$6 billion? What is$6 billion?
41:23They not letting him in. they not letting them in that circle those owners they together they're not letting them in at nfl
41:32Shannon Sharpe:owners absolutely you don't think so they'll let him in joe oh they'll let it be an ocho because guess what they go they won't they they won't they they won't they cut it at 300 million oh that that's it so they 10 billion you you give it that up 30 32 ways i understand you but they've been operating as one for a very long time. They not letting that type of pride. You ain't got to do a whole lot of background on him. You know he got it.
42:03Shannon Sharpe:Your financial committee, they ain't got much to worry about. Oh, yeah.
42:07Chad Johnson:Your proof of funds.
42:08Shannon Sharpe:He could buy all the teams.
42:10Chad Johnson:Yeah.
42:10Shannon Sharpe:He definitely buy all the teams.
42:12Chad Johnson:Hey, they ain't going to ask him for his proof of funds or none of that?
42:16Shannon Sharpe:No. He good. He good for it. He good for it. But I'm anxious to see him, see if, hey, I guess I'm going to have to get me. I got a Cleveland jersey. I got a Laker jersey. I got a Heat jersey. I guess I got to go on and get me another jersey. If you go back to one of them teams that he's been to before, I ain't getting another one.
42:41Chad Johnson:I don't know, man.
42:42Shannon Sharpe:I'm not paying no$3.40 for no offense jersey, Joe. Hey, I just...
42:48Chad Johnson:He gonna have a different number, though. I got him changing his number.
42:52Shannon Sharpe:Damn, you right.
42:53Chad Johnson:I got him changing his number, Ojo.
42:56Shannon Sharpe:Well, he can't get six because they retired that around the lead.
42:59Chad Johnson:Yeah, for Bill Russell.
43:02Shannon Sharpe:I will tell you a number, but I don't want to spoil it.
43:07Chad Johnson:Oh, here he go.
43:08Shannon Sharpe:Don't spoil it. Pat Riley also joked about Bam punching Tyler Hero, saying this. This is it. and I don't want to get knocked out. You know, Bam was one of those guys who came in here too.
43:26Shannon Sharpe:Bam was in 2019, came in here, and he's been basically the foundation of this organization.
43:36Chad Johnson:Hey, what's got everybody upset, Joe? What's got everybody upset?
43:40Shannon Sharpe:You heard what he said? Yeah. Bam came in here in 2019, and he's been basically the foundation. What do reporters say? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody's upset how they treat Bale. What did Pat Riley just get out of his mouth, Ocho? Yeah, yeah.
43:56Chad Johnson:Hey, Riles and Spoh, bro, they like that old school style. You know, hey, you say something, I'm going to hit you in your damn mouth. You know what I'm saying? When I see you. You know what I mean? I ain't saying they condoning it, but at the same time, they don't mind it neither. You feel me? Yeah, yeah. You see how hard Spock Neal was smiling when Riles said that?
44:20Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he glad he did. But you got to realize what Riles brought to the Knicks, what he brought to the Heat, he brought that physicality. Because there were not a whole lot of teams playing that style of basketball. You had the bad boy Pistons. Yeah. And you had the bad boy Pistons. And people, believe it or not, the Boston Celtics was a physical-ass team. Yeah, yeah. They just wasn't doing stuff like Rodman and Sal and Mahorn and Lambert. But they were a physical-ass team. Now, if it required that, oh, Chiefs swung on Bill Lambert all the time. Byrd swung on him all the time because they say, you know what, you're getting out of pocket here.
45:03Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. He'll take it with you.
45:05Shannon Sharpe:Bop! And punch him dead in his face. Hey, you see what Bill Lambert did to Larry Byrd?
45:11Chad Johnson:Yeah. Man, he put, man, Lambirah laying all his weight on that man.
45:16Shannon Sharpe:Bird just rolled over and just started punching that man in his face.
45:18Chad Johnson:Yeah, and the game was different back then, Ocho. I'm talking about, hey, you look at somebody wrong. It was a scrap, homie. You hear me? Them boys were throwing blows back then.
45:31Shannon Sharpe:They said, Bill Lambirah laying on the ground. I'm talking about, did he get ejected? Damn.
45:43Chad Johnson:Hey, Peter Paul said try it all, boy.
45:48Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. But Pat, you know, he told you what he thought of Bam, what they think of Bam. He said basically since Bam has been here, he's been the foundational piece. That's what he said. And first of all, Ocho, you done played this game enough. Joe, you played this game enough. You know when the coaches and the organization what they think of certain players. They don't never tell you this, but you see the way they treat this man. Yeah. Ain't nothing you could do. Hey, look. There's levels.
46:26Chad Johnson:They can say what they want, but Bam is an elite talent, Arcan Ocho, in the NBA. Considering the fact that 6 '9", 6 '10", can handle the rock, can score the ball, the intangibles, defense, rebounded. Like, he does a lot for your team, bro. So when you surround him with great talent like Spoh and Pat Riley is doing right now, I think you're going to get the best out of that young boy, man. I think you're going to get the best out of that.
46:55Shannon Sharpe:Plus, you know what they love most? What's that? He come to work every day.
46:59Chad Johnson:Hello.
47:00Shannon Sharpe:He come to work every day. Ain't no excuses because they don't tolerate excuses. I'm not going to give you an excuse because you might use it. Yeah, there you go. Get the job done. It's really that simple. It's really. Right now, the greatest tournament on the planet is happening on home soil and the whole world showed up. 48:59Founder of Rough Riders, Darren D. Dean. Talking about as a kid. Do you remember that we met even way before that? Let me think. Did you walk up to the gate? That was me, D. That was you? That was me. The day we found out that you and the whole crew was at Hit Factory, the mission was to get me to go to the gate, start freestyling, and see if I could get in the studio. I'm rapping, and then suddenly I hear a voice. Hey, open the gate. Let him in. The gate slowly went. Come, come, come, come, come, come. They all, they're watching this, and they watch me walk into there, And that is a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life.

Here's a way to start a conversation. Your family is going over to your neighbor's home for dinner for the first time. How would you ask if there are any unlocked guns in the home?
50:50Chad Johnson:Hey!
51:07Shannon Sharpe:That matter of fact, and you could appreciate that. Yeah. You could appreciate that.
51:14Shannon Sharpe:Yannis spoke about Eric's folks today saying, I just want to be coached hard. I'd rather you tell me the ugly truth than a beautiful lie. I don't want to be sugar-coated. I have a lot of people like that in my life that try to make me feel good. I don't need that. I need the truth. I can apply that to life and the game of basketball. Joe, do you believe Giannis want to be told the truth?
51:41Chad Johnson:Yeah, I do. I think he wants to be coached hard. I think he wants to be told the truth. and if there's holes in his game, okay, Ochoa, where you think he needs to improve and get better, please tell me. I think that's the approach that he's taking. He understands, man, this is like, you know, rejuvenation for him. Second part of the NBA for him. A whole nother chance. So he's getting an opportunity to create a whole nother legacy from scratch. And I think he wants to get off to a great start. Yeah, I think he is absolutely right. Hey, listen, one thing about Giannis, we ain't got to, that's why it was so puzzling to me to hear those reports coming from Milwaukee, you know, saying how he was laid.
52:20Chad Johnson:He just don't strike me for that type of guy. He looks like the hardest working dude on your team. You know what I mean? And that's what you can respect the most, bro.
52:29Shannon Sharpe:And that's why it caught everybody off guard because more people than not thought like you thought. But somebody that was inside, you see, when you get inside information, you're like, God be damned.
52:42Chad Johnson:Yeah.
52:42Shannon Sharpe:He had us all food. dude. That's what insider trading do, Mocho. But it's too good to be true. I didn't think this stock was going to do this. I didn't think somebody was going to get this contract. I didn't think they were in merger talks. I'll be damn. And see, that's when you knew it was over. He had to go. He could never go back in there. Not with Miles Turner. Put it like this here. I'm not saying Giannis had to go, but one of them had to go.
53:12Chad Johnson:Yeah. You're right. You're right.
53:15Shannon Sharpe:Because you already know you can't ever do nothing. I can't do – Joe, if I can't be myself at work, where can I be myself at? Because I'm there all the time. You're on the road. Think about it. 82 games a year. So I'm either coming to the arena or we're on a plane or we're on a bus ride heading to an arena. So I'm around you as much, if not more, than I'm around my own family. If I can't be me, if I can't let my hair down around, y 'all, Where can I let my hair down at Ocho? Because I'm guarded everywhere else I go. I go to Target. I'm guarded. I go to the grocery store. I'm guarded. I'm out in public.
53:50Shannon Sharpe:I'm guarded. The one place that guys let themselves go is on the bus, on the plane, at the arena. That's why you see guys joking, laughing, having fun. If I can't do that, Joe, what am I doing, Ocho?
54:06Chad Johnson:Hey, it's tough because that's our sanctuary at Ocho. You know, to where we go. Yeah, we talk about different things. We talk about things that we feel like will never get out of this locker room. So for the fact that those reports came out, yeah, if I'm Giannis, hell yeah, I feel a way. You know what I mean? And you're right. You can't bring that back together because I'm side-iron buddy the whole time. Hey, don't say nothing around Ocho because, you know, he talk too much. Matter of fact, it's not only not Giannis being there, the rest of his teammates. Now they looking at him funny. I can't trust him.
54:41I got to watch what I say around him. I mean, it's messy. I'm not sure at what point where everybody became a chatty patty, especially when it comes to NBA players or NFL players telling some of the things that go on in the locker room, telling, you know, intimate stories that are really for us, only us, you know. Outside of that, the quote that Giannis said, I think it makes sense, especially for the heat culture and what they're known for, what they've always been known for, how Spoh is, how Pat Riley is. He's in the right environment. As far as hearing the ugly truth as opposed to a sweet lie, he's going to get exactly what he wants.
55:18He's going to get exactly what he wants.
55:21Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. But here's the problem that he's going to run into. It's a lot easier to hear the truth when you've been told the truth before. When all you've been told is pretty lies, it's tough. when you grow up under Barney Porter's roof?
55:38Chad Johnson:Yeah.
55:38Shannon Sharpe:When you get coached by Bill Davis, you get coached by Dan Reeves, somebody tell you it don't even bother you. Barney Porter would make you – I mean, my brother, you heard him told you. You're talking about a kid, and he made you feel small.
55:53Chad Johnson:Yeah.
55:54Shannon Sharpe:He tells us all the time, he says, I'm not going to give you an excuse because if I give you an excuse, you will use it. Yeah. People think it's easy. When you've done something, the better part of your life, when you've heard something, the better part of your life, it's not as easy as you think. People are like, oh, I can just, okay. It sounds good. It really does. But when you messed up and they blamed it on others, because I've been there. Somebody made a mistake and he blamed me. Man, you know damn well. You're right. You're right. you know what I'm saying you're right I'm wrong my bad
56:42Shannon Sharpe:first of all I wasn't even in the read I wasn't even in the progression but I take that you saw the man throw the ball skip the ball to me now you talking about I'm deep I'm 10 yards he skipped it at 8 I'm 10 the rock calls 10 to 12 but he skipped it at 8 you're right I'll take that one. Somebody else made a mistake. Well, you remember, hey, you go all the way back, 10 plays. 84, what are you doing here? What I got to do with him making a mistake over there? I eat it, Joe. Joe, Joe, I eat it. That's on me. Because I know what you're trying to do. You're coaching them through me, knowing that I can take it.
57:32Shannon Sharpe:You got it, you're right. You got it.
57:35Chad Johnson:You know what they say? They say, well, if coach ain't saying nothing to you, he really don't mess with you, bro.
57:42Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, man. Yeah. Well, Dan Reeves must have loved me. He must have thought I was his long, long son. Cause that man mofo'd me and SOB'd me. That man stand on my head, Joe. Hey, hey, damn, coach.
57:54Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, think about it, though. When you get that type of old school coach, Uncle Ojo, you see how much of a stain and put on your brain bro like because you never forget that because coming up like even though you got to the pros guys was talking to you like that but when i got to college bro i ain't really never heard a coach talk to talk to us the way coach richard used to talk to us you know what i mean so when i got to the pros it didn't bother me what coaches got on me you know i'm saying it didn't bother me if uh you know i was a rookie and he said oh we're gonna sit you we're gonna sit you for a few games let some of these other rookies play man i had them been through the wars already bro i hadn't been through it already hey hey hey one thing about it i was never gonna let it waver my love and passion for the game okay ocho when i was a rookie bro when i was a rookie it was a it was a moment right before i got traded i went like 10 15 straight games dmp's not even touching the floor like not even i went from starting coaches like look we're gonna get because i had two other rookies with me keeser brown joe forte they both were first round we They had three first-round preaks, so it lets you know how good the Celtics were the year before.
59:00Chad Johnson:They wasn't that damn good. Right. So I had created value for myself, but I didn't understand this as a kid, bro. You know what I mean? So they set me. They probably already was working out the trade. They set me for the last 10, 15 games, DMP. And, man, I'll never forget that, bro, because it stuck with me. Because when you get traded as a youngster, you don't really get a reason why. You know what I mean? Like, man, pack your shit and get on up out of here. You know what I mean? For real.
59:25Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yep, you're right. But the thing is, Joe, like you said, when you're young, and even though Coach Davis had coached me hard my first year, after that I had like, I was the best player. So for my last three years there, I was the best player at Savannah State. Obviously he didn't yell and scream at me. But I go to Denver and Coach reads, and I remember having this conversation when I went to speak at his home going service, and his wife, Ms. Pam, said, Shannon, Dan thought the world of you. I was like, Ms. Pam, I couldn't tell. I'm glad you filled the blanks here. Man, that man stayed on me, man.
1:00:07Shannon Sharpe:Damn. That man stayed on me, stayed on me. Now, there's some like, as a head coach, now obviously position coaches, they're probably the hardest on the players. You know, because I mean, some of those position coaches, man, I'd have had to fight them. Oh, yeah, they have. Man.
1:00:22Chad Johnson:Because position coaches, hell, if you don't reach your potential, they kind of probably feel like it's their damn fault.
1:00:30Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely. Absolutely. We had a position coach, man, to do – he told the guy – he was supposed to like – he told him, don't go underneath because this guy's mobile and he'll skate.
1:00:41Chad Johnson:Yeah.
1:00:41Shannon Sharpe:What do you do? Go underneath. Inside, quarterback go outside. Yep, he go underneath, quarterback scrabble, go outside, first down. He did that twice. He's supposed to be on field goal block. Guess what? No, a PAT block. Guess what? He ain't out there. We got 10 men. Down, up, good. Next morning, he say, you know what? He said, I don't really know what's going to happen. But in the coaches meeting this morning, I recommended that we cut you. Damn. Told him just like that. He said, I don't know what's going to happen. but in the coaches meeting I recommended that we cut you oh man back then because they would say things now that you can't say you can't say because you don't own your I mean you might have got some of that in college but they would say hey like lord hey you got to be more PC now you can't say some of the stuff I was like oh my god they're like man I wonder what y 'all be nah you can't put no Man, they bleeped everything out because everything was a curse word.
1:01:52Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.
1:01:54Shannon Sharpe:Everything was a curse word. So there was nothing. There was nothing. But you understood it. You understood it. It was a part of the game. They yelled. They screamed. They cursed. They tried to make you better. And that was the only way they knew. Because those old coaches, that's how they coached. That's how they coached. It wasn't no sugar coat. It wouldn't work today, I think, though. It wouldn't work today. But one first play is doing it no Today obviously ones that are really good. They gonna shut down on you and the ones that not good gonna go snitch
1:02:27Chad Johnson:I'm not a dog. They leave Now you you got to be one of the ones to be able to get up and go now Yeah, but what I'm saying is oh, I'm not in the position and you're not good enough to go You know ain't like you gonna start a play anywhere else either you got to but my thing my thing is outro you got a lot of these kids out here and i'm speaking high school collegiate like they don't do good with with criticism bro you know what i'm saying like probably ain't never been criticized yeah yeah so look now when you run into that and you in college and you feel like you're supposed to be better than like bro and and it's easier now because I can hit this portal and go play for another team right away.
1:03:14Chad Johnson:They ain't dealing with that.
1:03:17Shannon Sharpe:You have to build up to that because early on, I didn't know how to handle it. Because my grandfather could look at me and I'd start crying because it hurt me so bad to disappoint him. My grandma looked at me and they would yell. And I remember my grandma told my grandfather one day he had yelled at me. And she said, Barney, don't yell at me. He's just a little fella. And he looked at a deadpan. He said, Mary, when I tell him something, I need him to understand the seriousness of it because I might not get a second chance. I said, Mary, this boy on a farm with these animals, he's around his equipment, and he might lose an arm, he might lose a leg, and these animals could kill him.
1:04:01Shannon Sharpe:So I need him to understand just how important what I'm telling him is. Joe, I'm five. I'm six. I don't know that I'm not supposed to be around a PTO. As I got older, I understood after I saw a man lose his foot.
1:04:20Chad Johnson:Yeah.
1:04:20Shannon Sharpe:After he got caught in a PTO, Mr. Joe used to tell us. He'd always tell us, Pee Wee, Sundown, don't come up to the back of the machine like this here. because, you know, if you got jeans or something, he had some fragile jeans. He came up. The PTO is the power takeoff operator. And so what it does, it powers the entire equipment. He has some fragile jeans. It caught it. He's like, Joe, help me. Joe, help me. After a while, you hear him. He got his foot in his hand, just like this, and hopping around. I take off to the barn to go get him. I said, man, Fred just. He's like, Pee-wee, what'd you say?
1:04:54Shannon Sharpe:I said, Fred just lost his foot. I said, he came up and talked to Mr. Joe. they got him they couldn't see him so that's what he was saying he said Mary he said Mary I might only get one chance to tell him something but you know how women are but then when my grandfather died I think my grandmother might especially that first year or so she might have been harder than papa boy she didn't boy great as she at first she would warn you Then it came the boy, she warned you and she shut down on you. Like damn, you used to tell us we go, hey, all right, boy sit down. Now didn't I tell you to sit your black?
1:05:42And they talking on every hit, I remember them days, boy. Yeah!
1:05:49Chad Johnson:Know how it go? Yes, yes. I remember that, boy. You get a lick for every word.
1:05:55Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And then they beat you for something that happened two weeks ago, Joe. I should've cut your ass two weeks ago. Huh? Joe, what are you talking about?
1:06:05Chad Johnson:Thanks, thanks. Hey, that's trauma, man. That's trauma we all got, boy, from a kid. You hear me? Yeah. Man.
1:06:15Shannon Sharpe:And then tell everybody, yeah, you know how to tell that boy ass something up in the day, Joe. Huh? Ain't nobody, great, ain't nobody ask you, did you beat me? Ain't nobody ask you that. I don't even know why you brought that up. Your uncle said, yeah, that boy been married, I tore his ass up. Oh, Lord have mercy. We be all in church, Joe. Yeah, you know that boy, uh-huh. He start to smell himself. I had to tell that I tore his ass up. See, now I want to fight you, Granny, when I get home.
1:06:47Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah, she gonna tell it now. You know she gonna tell it.
1:06:50Shannon Sharpe:I'm like, for this, you know, I want to fight you. But if you start to fight me back and you hit me and I go, oh, oh.
1:07:03Shannon Sharpe:If I say, oh, oh. By the old people that play back there, Joe, they hit you with anything. Whatever they can grab.
1:07:13Chad Johnson:I know, I've seen it. Whatever they can grab. I remember my senior had to go get a switch. You know, trying to be slick. you go get the smallest switch you can find that you think oh yeah oh and you bring it back in oh so you know so you want to play you think it's a game don't worry about it i go get a switch come on in here you see it right there man bell anything man my aunt my aunt hit my hit my cousin under the eye with a neck bone neck bone you see that neck bone oh yeah Yeah.
1:07:49Shannon Sharpe:If you leave that neck bone, he said something. Yeah. He the dead in his eye.
1:07:56Chad Johnson:Hey, hey listen man. I said.
1:07:59Shannon Sharpe:That joke had a piece of rice hanging right there.
1:08:02Chad Johnson:Hey, I seen it all. I'll get out of you. I'll tell you, my auntie, my auntie hit her son in the head with a pistol. Yeah, split him. He come, cause we used to live across the street. We used to live across the street. This, this, this my aunt Sherry, I tell you, She was a military lady, but she ain't play no game though. She, yeah, she put feet, hands all on you. She don't play. But listen, he done caught himself catching. That's what my oldest uncle was. What? He done caught himself catching fly with her. Boy, she hit him across the head with that pistol. He ran over my house so fast. He was hollering and crying.
1:08:33Chad Johnson:I'm like, damn, what's wrong? And my mama hit me with a pistol. I said, hey, don't break that heat over here. Get your ass back over there. Hey, that fool done play back then, bro. Oh, man.
1:08:46Shannon Sharpe:Hey, it's like a, like what you call it? Like a wash when they was running down the street. He said, hey, don't bring that heat to my house.
