In short
Nightcap Hour 1 is a sports recap and debate show focused on late-season football results. Hosts Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Shannon Sharpe discuss the Chicago Bears’ 22-16 overtime win over the Green Bay Packers, emphasizing Caleb Williams’ calm, accurate play (19/34, 250 yards, 2 TDs, no sacks/no turnovers) and DJ Moore’s key catch. They argue the Bears’ success came from execution and opportunism: an onside kick after a Packers misplay by Romeo Doubs, plus defensive stops after forcing Green Bay into field goals. They also critique Green Bay’s squandered chances, including a fumble near the goal line and a questionable third-down call, and they praise Chicago’s revamped offensive line and rookie tight end Colston Loveland.
They then cover the Eagles beating the Commanders 29-18, highlighting Saquon Barkley’s 21 carries/TD and the Eagles’ ability to run consistently, while noting a late fight and ejections.
Finally, they preview college matchups
Miami’s upset over Texas A&M (defense-led, including Ruben Bain Jr.’s 3 sacks and a blocked FG) and Ole Miss’ blowout of Tulane, plus Oregon’s rout of JMU.

4:50Shannon Sharpe:hello ladies and gentlemen thank you for joining us for another episode of Nightcap as you watch the Chicago Bears take down the Green Bay Packers in overtime by the score of 22-6. Caleb Williams threw a dot to DJ Moore. He held on to it. As soon as he threw the ball, if you go back and look at the replay, he put his hands in his warming pack. You know, there's a tub here. There's a tub here. Unbelievable game. They get the field goal. They get the onside kick. Romeo Dobbs misplays it. They get the ball. They go down the field and score. I thought Malik Willis played really well, but give the Chicago Bears a lot of credit.
5:26Shannon Sharpe:They won the ball game, and I think they won 11 games now. They're 11-4. Look like they're going to be the number one seed. Hold on. They still got a chance. They're number one seed. Well, they got a chance. Still, I believe, have an outside chance at being the number one seed. But they win in overtime by the score of 22-16. I am your favorite uncle, Shannon Sharp. That was my partner. that still is my partner and co-host that was doing the intro, Liberty City legend, Bengals, Ring of Fame, Arteree. Hey. Hi. 7:20Shannon Sharpe:Head over to my media company and follow it on all of its platforms. That's Shea Shea Media and my clothing company, 84. With 84 being spelled out, that link is pinned into the chat. Caleb Williams hit DJ Moore and walked it off. They won the toss. They elected Green Bay to have the ball because they wanted to see what they needed. Green Bay was driving down the field. fumble the snap and the rest is as they say history yeah I had a got a there was third and 20 and the guy grabbed uh Caleb Williams face mask gave him life when he really didn't have to do that but hey right you're in the you're grabbing so yeah those things happen but Caleb Williams 19 of 34 250 two touchdowns he wasn't sacked and he didn't turn the football over DeAndre Swift ran the ball 13 times for 58 yards.
8:07Shannon Sharpe:Kali, Manga, Manga, Manga? Manga? Manga. Manga had 9 for 50. Caleb Williams ran the ball three times for 30 yards. They had 26 rush, 150 yards with DJ Moore. 5 for 97 on a big touchdown. They win this ball game. They look like they're going to win this division. who would have thought based on what they had last year, Ocho. But we thought with Ben Johnson coming in, you picked them to be one of your surprise teams, them and the Carolina Panthers, to be one of your surprise teams. And I think they surprised a lot. I think they're a lot better than people. They thought they would improve, but I don't think anybody thought, given that division with Green Bay and Detroit still in that division, Ocho, I don't think anybody had Chicago picked to win that division.
8:53Shannon Sharpe:Just going to show you what the coaching staff, they brought in some addition, they rebounded the offensive line. new center in Dolben, new left guard in Thune, new right tackle. So they revamped that offensive line. And they got Loveland, the tight end, the first-round draft pick, and he's been phenomenal. So give the Chicago Bears credit, Ocho. Jordan Love leads the game, but Malik Willis did not disappoint. He played extremely well. He played very well. 9 of 11, 121 yards, threw a touchdown pass to a Romeo Dobbs, but it was not enough because this was all about the Chicago Bears. When they needed to get a stop, they got a stop.
9:31Shannon Sharpe:They bend, but they didn't break. They made them settle for a field goal. Because if they can't score a touchdown, the game's over. Yes. But they made them kick a field goal. They go down the field, get in field goal range, kick the field goal, go for the onside. Romeo Dobbs misplayed it. And given his concussion history, Ocho, I'm not so sure you want him there with those kind of collisions. Right. They're coming. And they come in with bad intentions. Oh, yeah. Remember now, Ocho, ain't no helping the helmet on the old side now. No. That's a for real car crash. Yeah, but also you want your players with your best hands and the ones that you trust the most in those important situations like that, you want them on your hands team.
10:13Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Also, Josh Jacobs going in for a touchdown. He fumbled the football. That has been his history. He's had a history. He's had a propensity to put the ball on the ground. No joke. As we start getting closer and closer, we start in December, and we move to more January, you've got to hold on to the football. You cannot turn it over. The ball is a premium. And it cost them, and guess what? We didn't see them anymore. Yeah, yeah. We didn't see them anymore. Emmanuel Wilson took over from there. Yeah. Josh Jacobs, you've got to do a better job of holding on to the football. They know. They know you'll give it up at some point in time, and they're going to keep hammering at it.
10:54Shannon Sharpe:You're good back, but you got to hold on to the football. Oh, Joe, what did you like about what you saw from Chicago? Because Green Bay really controlled this game. Listen, yeah, they controlled the game. Really, they controlled the game in its entirety throughout the game. I really, honestly, I'm going to tell you, I thought the Bears were going to lose. And going into the fourth quarter, five minutes left into the fourth quarter, the game is 16 to 6. I'm like, hey, that's a two-score game with only five minutes left on the clock. So many different things have to go right for the Bears to even have a chance to come back.
11:24and those goddamn things that needed to go right, Unk, they went right. Those things absolutely went right. The center exchange, the mess up between Malik Willis and the center. You can't have that, Ocho. Hey, listen, you can't have that. The starting center and the backup quarterback, how many snaps do they get, Unk? Think about it.
11:42Shannon Sharpe:Well, Ocho, you got to realize Malik Willis has been in the game, so they had taken a lot of them. They had to think about when Jordan Love went out, Malik Willis comes in. Yeah, he comes, yes. Because I didn't see, and I want you to go, Ocho, I didn't see Jordan Love until they replayed it where he got helmet to helmet. I didn't see it in real time. And I wonder why I said, why they bring Malik Willis in? And then when they went back, they showed it. I was like, okay, that's why they brought Malik Willis in. But go ahead, Ochoa, finish your point. But also, I think that might have been a problem.
12:11You know, you can't blame the weather. You can't blame the weather. I would just say the fact that even though he wasn't there for a few snaps once Jordan Love went out, I mean, that center and quarterback exchange and the fact that they haven't had any type of continuity together, that might have played a part in it. Maybe Malik Willis didn't close his hands fast enough. I mean, I don't know. I don't know. Conjuring Love had taken a thousand goddamn snaps and it hasn't been one center exchange where there's been an issue and all of a sudden there's one tonight. And obviously, certain things they have to go right, and that was one of them.
12:43They had to go right in the Bears' favor for them to even have an opportunity and a chance to win this game, including the goddamn onside kick.
12:51Shannon Sharpe:when you fall behind Ocho you have to as the behind team you have to do everything right because if they messing up Ocho how many times have we said oh the game was right there for the taking such and such did this such and such did that but you didn't take advantage of the opportunity so if you're the behind team from the time you're behind you have to do everything right now as the team that's in the lead you need because all they need and the momentum because they realize you're on the road. So what happens, Ocho? Now all of a sudden the crowd gets back in the game. You had the crowd at bay for the entirety of the game.
13:27Quiet.
13:28Shannon Sharpe:Now all of a sudden you've got 70 ,000 fans. They're into it. And then they stop you on third. I don't like the call. I didn't like the call on third down. I think you give the ball to Emmanuel Wilson and you go ahead and get the first down. Look, I just hate that offset. But anyway, that's neither here nor there. But with that being said, Ocho, I think Emmanuel Wilson, you give him the ball both times and you say offensive line, we need one yard. Yeah. We need one yard. Now we get a new set of downs. It didn't happen. I think the Bears deserve a lot of credit. Yes. But Malik Willis showed me something.
14:09Shannon Sharpe:Because when I'm looking at him in Tennessee, we didn't see this Malik Willis. So it might be something in Tennessee. Mike Brable was his coach. They didn't want him. He looks like a very, very competent quarterback. He looks like he can be a starter. I can look around the league, and he's better than some people's starters. It might be the system. It might be Green Bay and what they have to offer. But Ocho, he looks very competent right now. You heard what you just said. It might be the system, or it might be what Green Bay has to offer. You got to look what he has around him. Look at what he has surrounding him.
14:41Look at the personnel. Look at the offensive line. Look at the running back. Look at the receiving core. so you're gonna look like a competent quarterback when you're playing for a team from top to bottom that understands how to build a team where you can compete week in and week out of course i mean when's the last tennessee when is the last time tennessee has a team that's been structurally built from the top to bottom you know to be able to compete week to week there's a reason they was picking number one in the draft last year there's a reason why so they're not going to look the same and unless you're superman you can't go to a team that's not structurally built the right way you You got to be Superman to make them look good.
15:17If that makes sense.
15:20Shannon Sharpe:Bears take control of the NFC North Ocho. Yeah, 11 and four. They're game behind the Seattle Seahawks. They're the 12 and three, but there are two games in front of the Green Bay Packers now. Well, they're game and a half because Green Bay has a tie. Right. Yeah. Well, theoretically, that's two games because, you know, they only have four in the loss column and you got one, you got five in the loss column and one in the tie column. So there are two games ahead of Green Bay and there are three games. in the win column of head of Detroit. We'll see what Detroit does tomorrow. But if they win one of their last two ballgames, they're going to win the NFC North, and they'll be the number two seed.
16:02Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. Can the Eagles be the two seed?
16:11Shannon Sharpe:No. Yeah, I guess theoretically they could.
16:18Shannon Sharpe:But, yeah, I'm talking about Chicago because Chicago's going to win that division. The question is, do the Eagles own any tiebreakers over them? And, like, if they win out and the Bears lose one of their last two ballgames, does that give the Eagles enough to jump them? That would be very interesting. But – Oh, yeah, well, yeah. So that's a moot point. So all they have to do is win one of their last two games and they're the number two seed. But they're eyeing potentially that number one seed, which is going to be very, very interesting if they have enough, if they own the tiebreaker over Seattle or the Rams.
16:54Shannon Sharpe:But we'll see how that turns out. But I was very impressed with Chicago because it seemed like they were meandering, going through the motion, going through the motion, and then all of a sudden Caleb Williams, this is why they selected him number one overall, because he can just make plays. He has the ability to make plays on the move. He can fit the ball in the tight window. He can throw from the pocket, but he can throw off his back foot. He can throw rolling left. He can throw rolling right. And they've done a great job of giving him, you know, DJ Moore, Roman Dunes they didn't play, Zacchaeus, Colston Loveland, Cole Komet.
17:28Shannon Sharpe:They have guys. Green Bay messed this up down there, Ocho, when they went for it on, what was that, fourth down? They brought the Brown blitz. It looked like on the left, the right side, like I'm facing to the right side, It looks like they was going to pass this off. If he comes in, I'm going to take him. You stay outside. But it seems like the outside guy said, oh, damn. I'm a jumper. You got it. Yeah. If anything, they should have passed it off. Thank you. Listen, the person going from out the end, I mean, once you pass it off, y 'all already in position. You're in position. You're already in position.
18:02You're perfect.
18:03Shannon Sharpe:You don't have to worry about anything. You got everything covered because the guy goes in, he goes into a guy that's already inside. And if the guy coming out, you're right there. You're right there in position to make that play, yeah. And I think that's what you saw some of the frustration with somebody like, how do we, how do we, see, this is why I can't coach. Because if you're supposed to pass it off Ocho, how are we done practice that? Now, you don't think they practice that formation against that? Hey, absolutely. And now we get in the game, and when the pressure, and that's what's safe, pressure bust pipes.
18:35It does, it does. You know, lack of communication, that's all. Lack of communication in the ball. I don't need to communicate.
Read the full transcript
18:41Shannon Sharpe:We done rehearsed this. What do I do? Ocho, I don't need to tell you, Ocho, you got an out route. When you've been running the out route the whole practice, all week long, Ocho, you've been hitting 10 rolls of 12. Now all of a sudden comes the game time, the rubber need to read the roll, you run an end cut. You know, just miscommunication? We can't have no miscommunication. That's the most important time. That is the difference between good and great. Yeah. because the greats in that moment, they don't succumb to the pressure. Yeah. First quarter, he probably all over it. But he understands what's at stake, Ocho.
19:19Shannon Sharpe:Now all of a sudden, what was this big? All of a sudden, ooh. Oh, yeah. Very, very tight. Now he done ate a bag of lemons. It's tight on him. Yeah, you're right. That pressure, especially in a situation like that, that's what happens. That's what happens. look Green Bay gonna be kicking themselves because we had them dead to right and we had an opportunity we had an opportunity to set ourselves in great great position and we let them off the hook yep and you can't you know what you can't blame the quarterback situation you can't blame Jordan Love going out because Malik Willis came out and they were able to call the exact same plays run the exact same offense and had the exact same efficiency efficiency as if Jordan Love was still in.
20:06Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
20:07Shannon Sharpe:This is not a quarterback. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is not a quarterback issue. This is a situation where you squandered too many opportunities. You fumble the ball going in. You're going to get points out of that. At worst case scenario, Ocho, you're going to get three. And then you had a situation on third down. I don't know what a play you call. And you call something and the Bears had it covered. Malik Willis scrambles and he gets back to their line of scrimmage. and then on fourth down, the center quarterback exchange. I don't know if he took it out because wasn't they in the gun?
20:39Shannon Sharpe:He wasn't in the center, was he? He was in the gun. Yeah. I forget. Yeah. And another thing too. Can you pull that and see if they were in the gun if he's in the center? He might have been in the center. Because all I know is that the back reached out and picked it up and tried to get back, but there was too much penetration. You know, another thing who deserves credit, the Bears kicker. I can't remember what his last name was, but he had a 54, a 51, and a 54. In those conditions. Listen, in those conditions with the wind blowing like that and the fact that I was able – I was watching him, and if the wind was blowing to the right, he kicked the ball just a smidge far left so the wind would do the rest of the work for him.
21:18Shannon Sharpe:I'm on the center. He was on the center. Malik Willis was on the center. Oh, he was? Okay. Yeah. And that's the thing. We're going to talk about the Miami kicker because I thought in that situation, Ocho, I thought they was going to say, hey, if you get the first down, go down and let us walk it off. But because the kicker had missed and people were like, well, you try kicking in that condition. Ocho, the reason why we go out there and warm up is that we can take advantage. We want to see what our cleats are like. We want to see what our gloves are like. The kickers go out there 20 minutes, 30 minutes before us to see what the elements are.
21:50Shannon Sharpe:They cook it deep, each hash. They start at like 25 yards. They go left hash, middle, right hash, X, Y, and Z. And they back out. right go ahead Ocho and the funny thing about it as a kicker and I can say this and I'm not even joking around as a kicker you see the kicker during the game when you flip sides of the field you take the grass you take the grass you hold it up or whatever you need to do no lick your finger put your finger so you can see which way the wind is blowing because that the weather in the way in the direction in which the wind is blowing it changes as the game is going on it changes so as a kicker you're supposed to know that I don't understand what Miami kicker was doing today I don't know you adjust to the climate it's okay and what do kickers and punters do they kick on both ends of the field you have to I mean you kick it on one end the opposing team is kicking on one end and then you guys flip yes so therefore you know what it's like kicking in that direction you know what it's kicking like in this direction so now the elements and you get a feel.
22:53Shannon Sharpe:We go out there before. We want to test our shoes. Do we need, are the molded bottoms good enough or do we need studs? Right. The gloves. What type of gloves do you need? And all that. That's why you go out there to feel it. The quarterbacks go out there to throw because they need to know the conditions. Yeah. So we don't just, you know, hey, and Texas A &M kicker. So that's, that's, that was that. We're going to talk about that game a little later. Yeah. But Caleb Williams walks it off with DJ Moore throwing off his back foot. But go back and look at Ocho. He is calm. I mean, he throws the ball and puts his hands in his warmers.
23:31Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Hey, hold on. That just wasn't any throw. That was a dot. No, no, no. He retrieved me. That was a dot in the bread basket. He didn't have to break stride. He didn't have to do nothing except put his hands up and make sure he secured the catch. That was it. That was a beautiful throw. And that was a heck of a catch because the guy was all over him. Yeah. He was all over him. He did a hell of a job holding on to that football. But Caleb Williams, that was a great throw. That was a tremendous win by the Chicago Bears. They did an unbelievable job of remaining poised, keeping their cool, and finding a way to win this ballgame.
24:08Shannon Sharpe:That's coaching. That's coaching. And that's the belief that we're never out of a ballgame. Okay. Okay. Yeah. But, you know, turnovers get you beat, Ocho. A, every time. And that was, you know, that was really the difference in the ball game because you took points off the board. But Chicago, man, Caleb, hey, they're a young team. Hey, they're going to add some more pieces. I mean, they got a quarterback. They got a quarterback that they're going to have for the foreseeable future. Another seven, ten years. Yep. So all you got to do is just continue to build around. You got, like I said, you got Zakiahs.
24:47Shannon Sharpe:You got Loveland. a Walker Cole Komet DeAndre Swift you can run the ball they're the number one rushing team and when you can run the football your play action should be exemplary. Beautiful. It makes everything that much easier. Anytime you can run it makes everything else you want to do offensively easier. You're running the ball the playbook opens up exponentially. Absolutely. Well Chicago go, hey, they might not have a place to play. They might be looking for venues to play. They talk about going to Gary and they talk about going outside the city. They talk about going everywhere. But hey, all I know is you're going to have a wherever you go.
25:28Shannon Sharpe:Right now, you got a great team to go into that building. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. And I saw those reports about them going to Gary Indiana. It ain't nothing but a 30 minute drive from Chicago, from downtown. You know what, Ocho? It's just that you got to think about how long you've been at Soldier Field. Right. I mean, it's just something about the monsters of the midway. Right. But, hey, teams are moving. You see there's a Kansas City. They're thinking about moving there. You know, these lawmakers talking about, hey, we got a billion dollars. Come on out here. Go where? They're trying to move to Missouri, right?
26:06Oh. Oh, same. Whoa. Kansas City. Okay. Hold on. Hey, you know, you listen. My geography is kind of off. Now how far is Kansas City away from Missouri? Don't start me to lie.
26:22Shannon Sharpe:Aren't they trying to move them out of Missouri to Kansas City or the other way around?
26:33Shannon Sharpe:So they're moving them out of Missouri to Kansas. Oh, okay. Yeah.
26:41Kansas City is very much Kansas.
26:42Shannon Sharpe:Kansas City is very much Kansas. right so look and and the thing is what what we're what we're seeing is that these owners although they're billionaires they're trying to spend as little as possible on these new stadiums yeah uh maybe you know you think like okay somebody's gonna give us a sweetheart deal blah blah blah because everybody ain't got money like a stan crockett stan crockett say i'm leaving st louis hey i'm gonna have a big i got a billion dollars in escrow because it costs money to move You have to play the league to move to relocate, Ocho. Absolutely. I understand it. I understand it, you know, economically, you know, financially.
27:19I mean, what it does when they have to move, what owners need to be able to move.
27:24Shannon Sharpe:Yes. And Stan is in a different situation than everybody else, huh? Do you understand how many franchises Stan owns outside of just the goddamn Rams? Mm-hmm. Man, listen. The Alamans, the Nuggets. Yeah. Arsenal. Yeah. I think you're on Arsenal. Yeah, yeah. Listen, hypothetically speaking, as much as I love the game of soccer, you know who would have been the first person to play for the Rams and for Arsenal? Who? Who? Okay. Yeah. I don't know, Joe. I've never seen nobody play two sports in that one. I mean, we see baseball, basketball, baseball, football, football, basketball, football, baseball.
28:10Shannon Sharpe:ball, but that cross over there. I would have been the first one. I would have been a gunner, and I would have been a ram. 31:47Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but see, all he does is kick. See, Ocho used to do it with his hands. So they're going to kick that ball and Ocho going to catch it. Unless he's going to be a goalie.
31:58Shannon Sharpe:But I thought Brandon, as you mentioned, Brandon Albrecht, I watched him in the UFL, and he had a leg. He was booming it. He been doing that, boy. He been doing it. But the Bears stay atop the NFC North thanks to a 22-16 overtime victory over the Green Bay Packers. Ochoa, the Eagles beat the Commanders by the score of 29-18. Nick Sarriani said his team wasn't trying to run the score up against Washington with a two-point conversion late to give them a 17-point lead. But as the play ended, a fight broke out on the field, resulting in three players being ejected. Lymer Tyler Steen and the commander's defensive end, Javon Kinlaw and Quan Martin.
32:36Shannon Sharpe:Ojo, did you like the moves by the Eagles? Yeah. Yeah. Damn near. You know what I like about the Eagles? You know what they were able to do today on, that they haven't been able to do all year? Successfully, consistently, they were able to run the ball. They were able to run the ball. Saquon had 21 carries he had a TD He had 132 yards Janet Hurst threw the air I mean he was okay 22 for 30 Two TDs but 165 185 but my eyes so bad Damn my eyes so bad He had 185 I mean it was cool they did what needed To be done to get the job Done today A couple of passes too AJ dropped a couple of days Devontae dropped a couple of days Yeah And so his stats probably I don't they weren't like huge yardage, but I could have had a couple more touchdowns.
33:27Yeah Yeah, a few more and you know what there was really no threat at no point in the game where the command is a threat To the Eagles at all the Eagles were really able to have their way and do do everything they want to do Whether it was through the air whether it's through the ground and I mean it was It was it was it was a winnable game in a game. They should have won and they did just that
33:49Shannon Sharpe:the Eagles need to get their kicking situation resolved I'm right here Elliot is not automatic like he once was Ochoa you know in the playoffs it comes down these games are one possession game and a lot of times it's a field goal the difference in that possession and hey I'm telling you you got somebody right here with a fresh leg you know I'm good from 70 I'm not just good from 70 I'm good from 70 consistently I'm good from 60 50 40 30 after field goals p.a.t i mean that's what i do sirianni if you need someone if you need someone like me if you need some what's up baby a vacuum who spilled something
34:33stop it go pick the pringles up and don't take no more food in that room yeah do you i mean no i mean i mean just i mean there's there's no way you can get a kicker right now not not this time because anyone that's available is the reason why they're available
34:49Shannon Sharpe:you well hey what you call them available i don't know if they're looking at him i mean he had two trials justin tucker oh i forgot i forgot tuck you know hey hey you're gonna have to block you're gonna have to block out the noise yeah i mean you know what comes along yeah but he had a couple see he had a couple of trials we'll see you know when our one of our favorite kickers is available Young Hoku
35:18Shannon Sharpe:I think after Young Way after he missed the whole ball it's going to be tough for him to get back yeah you think that yeah it's unfortunate but the Eagles the Eagles are 26 first downs they got three first downs they were only four They were 4-9 on third down. I mean, they possessed the ball 34 minutes. Like you said, and then Marcus Mariota looked like he dislocated a finger or something, and they brought Johnson in, don't you? He's been on – there have been 32 teams in the NFL. He's been on damn near 20 of them. Yeah. I mean, at that point in time, you know all – there was no chance that the commanders were going to mount anything as far as a comeback.
36:07Shannon Sharpe:Right. There's a reason why a guy, and I thought Josh McCown had been on a bunch of teams. Right. Hey, he ain't got no room for nobody else's jerseys. He got all his jerseys on his wall in the basement. Yeah, you, yeah. Yeah. How many teams has he been on, Ash? He's got to be on like 13 or 14, Ocho. So he's in the same boat with, God damn it. Damn. Who? Fitzpatrick. Oh, he's been on way more teams. He done doubled Fitzpatrick up. Josh McCown has been on a bunch of teams. He way past Josh McCown. Okay. He done been on like 13, 14 teams. Okay.
36:51Damn. I'm trying to think.
37:00Shannon Sharpe:I could have swore. He's been on Washington twice. eight total different teams in how many years? only eight that's it? well he had two stints with Washington how many have Josh McCown and Fitzpatrick been on? because I know Fitzpatrick was with the Jets he's with Buffalo he's with Miami I think he's with Cincinnati I think he's with the Texans and Fitz everywhere Fitz go he be dealing that thing just know you ain't going to the playoffs you're going to be fancy but you ain't going to the playoffs right Josh McCown's been on 11 teams okay but he played like 20 years didn't he I think he played like 20 years Ocho yeah he's a he's somewhere he's coaching now he's a quarterback coach in Minnesota I just saw him recently I think he's a quarterback coach in Minnesota don't be surprised because remember he got interviewed for a job don't be surprised if he get a job
38:05Shannon Sharpe:I mean can you still be the Chicago Bears if you play if you play if you play at another state hmm
38:21Shannon Sharpe:if you're in Indiana can you still be called the Chicago Bears yeah because it's not that far you still you still Gary Indiana that's a good question that's a great question even though it's so close well I guess they say well theoretically the Giants they don't play in New York they play in Jersey and they still call them the New York Giants it makes sense makes total sense do you think they would try you had a problem with them going for two no you I don't know what the purpose was I mean whatever play that you ran Ocho I'll save it for a ready day I'm damn sure not breaking it out now if I'm already beating the team by the score of which we beating them they probably just want to try something they probably worked on it you heard what you call him saying though we'll see him in two weeks now you're going to get guys going out there hey oh you want to run the score up they're going to cheap shot you they're going to do all that stuff Hey stop it If you don't like it stop it
39:35Shannon Sharpe:It's gonna be interesting It's gonna be a lot of fights You saw the fight happen when you went for two Oh yeah So you know what's coming when we go to Philly Oh yeah Hold on They play again in what Two weeks It ain't gonna be no different It ain't gonna be no different you don't have enough horsepower I love the commanders you don't have enough horsepower to compete with the Eagles right now even as up and down and as inconsistent as they've been all year long you don't have enough horsepower you don't they would have to just lay down nah they're not going to lay down because they got to play because they're trying to get you know obviously you won the division so you're going to get a home playoff game but okay I'm going to add a little sauce to it so y 'all want to be out here y 'all want to go for two don't worry about it we got something for that oh yeah yeah oh yeah yeah hey you saw earlier in the game how they stole on dj more oh oh you noticed that yeah i noticed it okay okay okay okay i thought it had nothing to do with the plate yeah i thought you would have missed that no hell nah i saw it i got something for y 'all did you just say see what you get that's what y 'all get for uh trying to cheap shot me Mm-hmm.
40:55Let me send y 'all home. Let me send y 'all home the right way.
41:02Shannon Sharpe:But the Eagles, this is the first time in a long time. When was the last time we had back-to-back champs in the NFC East? Hadn't it been like 20 years that's been different? You know, it's been the Giants, the Cowboys, the Eagles, the Eagles, Cowboys, Eagles, Cowboys. But now we finally have a back-to-back NFC champ. And the Cowboys are officially eliminated from the postseason. Ah, damn.
41:27Shannon Sharpe:damn it's been two decades since we've had a back-to-back division champion in the NFC East that's a long 20 years last time was 2004 Ocho Sierra said we did what we thought was the best interest to go up one more point in my mind is not running up the score Eagles right tackle Fred Jones says I guess they were upset we went for two but I don't give a F it's football You can't control what the next person does. Absolutely right. Sirianni's job is to coach his team. Let Dan Quinn coach the commanders. That's it. I mean, they're going to start complaining about everything. First is the tush-push.
42:04They want to get the tush-push playing. Next thing you know, they're going to start complaining about people going for two-point. They're going to try to get the goddamn two-point conversion band. Listen, it don't matter what the other team is running. Your job is to call the play defensively, and the job for the players is to stop the goddamn play. That's it. You're not running up the goddamn score, man. Come on, now.
42:23Shannon Sharpe:You see they calling them guards for false starting that tush push. Yeah, yeah. They calling them. I'm like, bro, they been doing it. They been jumping the snap. Yeah. They got an eye on it, Natto. Absolutely. Mm-hmm. Ocho, three of the. Copenhagen Spit Free packs American-grown tobacco into pouches. Made from when your elbow's deep in an engine block. 45:37Shannon Sharpe:Nothing to be afraid of. We're saved! it's scary how easy it is get t-mobile 5g home internet delivered the same day powered by door dash just 35 bucks a month with auto pay and a voice line plus taxes and fees same day delivery for most internet eligible customers see if it's an option during checkout fastest according to ukla speed test based on speed test intelligence data second half 2025 all rights reserved the sloppiest winded quarters in recent football college history followed by an incredible dramatic fourth quarter. It looked like Texas A &M was going to force overtime or score and potentially go for two like we saw with the Seattle Seahawks do on Thursday night.
46:19Shannon Sharpe:But Bryce Fitzgerald picked off Marcel Reed in the end zone with 23 seconds left. A Miami's defensive lineman Ruben Bain Jr. put together a performance for the A &M. Bain had four tackles for losses, three sacks, and a blocked field goal. You know, just scanning, he's the best college football, he's the best D linemen that I've seen this year. But hey, maybe there's some other guys out there. Ocho, the only thing with Marcia, bro, that you cannot throw, you got to throw that guy open. There was a window, you were late. Yeah, super late. Super late. Super late, bro. Hey, super late trying to aim it.
46:53And obviously, when you're that close, when you're that close to the end zone, but you got to let that ball go early because you're running out of goddamn real estate. Not only, not only you're not early, you're throwing the ball behind him anyway. So it It make it that easier for the young freshman who had a second pick of the day to send you home and end the game. It was the defensive game today, Unk. It was the defensive game with plays being made and sprinkled out. Malachi Tony, boy, he's special, Unk. They call him down here at the crib, Unk. We call him baby Jesus. We call him baby Jesus for a reason.
47:29Man, listen, he was special. I was kind of sad for him. That punt. When he fumbled the ball, he fumbled the ball, maybe went to the sideline, had his head down, and seeing his teammates, Mark Fletcher, man, Mark Fletcher was toting that rock today, young. He was. Mark Fletcher was toting that rock today. He had 17 carries for 172, and I had a lot of people say, well, hell, if the Hurricanes were running the ball like that, why didn't you just do that the entirety of the game? Just keep running the ball until they stop it.
47:58Shannon Sharpe:Man, Carson Beck. Hey, he had he had that kind of He had that kind of year you to buy that kind of game. Oh It was bad, huh? He did the right thing getting up out of Georgia. Oh, yeah, gonna be on the bench behind Stockton. You think so? Yeah, yeah Hell yeah Those two interceptions really really killed him. I mean, Texas and them. They really couldn't run the football Boy, they had 35 rushes Ocho for 89 yards. Yeah. Yeah. I mean. It was a defensive game. Yeah. You sprinkle in some drops, you know, a fumble here. Miami came to play. Oh, yeah. In a hostile environment. You know, I think Miami's offense is kind of challenged because of the quarterback play.
48:51Shannon Sharpe:I think they got some skilled position players that can really play. Oh, yeah. They got, yes. 10-3. But they got it right. They got it right. I think Miami deserved to be there. Who does Miami play Ohio State? Ohio State! Listen, they're going to have to come to the party, man. So this is a matchup. We're going to talk about this a little later, Ocho. Oregon beat James Madison, beat the brakes off them. That wasn't even interesting. So Oregon plays Texas Tech. Alabama plays Indiana. Ole Miss plays Georgia. This was a game that went down to the wire earlier this year. Ole Miss was in control of this game, and Georgia came back and won.
49:34Shannon Sharpe:And the U play Ohio State. Hey, UM can't play like this against Ohio State, huh? They can't play like this. Offensively, they can't play like this. Not going to happen. Carson Beck, boy, you got A. you got to pull it. Because Ohio State got a defense, boy. They get after you. They got some guys going to go high in the draft. They can get after you. They can get after you. Carson Beck will have to play the game of his life. Because I don't know. Miami has a great defense, so don't get it. They're here for a reason. We're not selling them short. No. Ohio State has an offense. The question is Carson Beckett quarterback, can he crack Ohio State's defense?
50:23Yeah, I mean, you know what? For Carson Beck, honestly, it makes it easy because he has a receiving cause to do that. He has a supporting cast. I mean, the comparison, people will say Cardinal Tate and Jeremiah Smith. There's nothing like that over there at UM. But UM, they got some homegrown boys that's straight here from Dade County that can play some ball. Can they protect him? That too.
50:49Shannon Sharpe:I don't care nothing about your receivers. Your offensive line can't hold up because Ohio State got some guys that can get after the quarterback. Absolutely. Absolutely. It's going to be a good one. I just know offensively, them boys are going to have to show up. All of them. Yeah. But this game, I mean, Texas A &M, I mean, they let the – they let the – they lose to Texas, you know, last game of the season. And now they missed an opportunity to go to the SEC championship game and then they lose. Look, there's a lot to be proud of, but there's some disappointment because you never want to lose your last two games.
51:27Shannon Sharpe:And they didn't play their best football. Marcel Reed's got to do a better job of throwing the football. I don't know what he's going to do. I don't know if he's coming back. He probably could use another year in college if he hasn't, Ocho. But he's got to do a better job. You've got to have better anticipation because as Ocho said, when the field is condensed, you've got to realize where do you think the guy's going? Everything speeds up. on. I'm just saying, that window was open. You gotta throw him. Throw him and let him go get to the ball. Because even if you're not that far behind him, you're gonna give the DB a chance because he can't backpedal out of the end zone.
51:58Shannon Sharpe:Where do you think he's going? I can't remember the safety name, the young freshman. He played it so well too. Just the route in general. He set his feet in the ground. He didn't back up anywhere. He held his ground and broke right on it. He broke right on it. He can't because if I stand right where I am, you're going to have to run over me or go behind me. One or the other. If I backpedal, I'm going to be at the end zone and you cross my face. Yeah. I'm already eight yards deep in the end zone. Where do I need to go? It's not a field play where you have to get some depth because they might throw the ball over your head.
52:42You have no choice, yeah.
52:44Shannon Sharpe:Hell, they throw them all over your head, they're going to be in Lubbock. Yeah, he played it really well. He played it perfect. He played it perfect. But the U moves on, take on Ohio State.
53:03Shannon Sharpe:Ole Miss beat Tulane 41-10. Ocho, I know Tulane, but hey, Ole Miss team looked very good today. Lane Kiffin made$250 ,000 even though he's not coaching. Look, I thought Lane allowing some of the coaches that he took with him to go back there and coach to help Pete Golding who's the defensive coordinator. Right. The question is before we talk about this game, if they win the national championship, does Lane get a national championship ring, Ocho? Absolutely. Absolutely Because he was a part He was a reason And he was a part of that team Before leaving He was a huge part of their success Huge part of their success And I mean You got to remember who they're playing today You got to remember who they're playing today Nothing to clap about Nothing to be excited about I call it That would be a tune-up game for what's real and for what's to come.
54:09That ain't about nothing.
54:15Shannon Sharpe:Trinidad Chambliss, 23 or 29, 282, one touchdown. Austin Simmons came in, played well. He fumbled the ball right before the half, but they about to get points out of that. They ran the ball 34 times for a buck 51. Tewon Lacey, 15 carries, 87 yards. I mean, Ocho, they scored with like three plays with 50 seconds. Yeah. Game was over. I mean, look, you could just see the difference. You know, my grandparents always say, boy, just because you got the fastest donkey, that don't mean you deserve an invite to the Kentucky Derby. You got a fast-ass donkey. Yeah, now we talking. Tulane got a good team.
54:51Shannon Sharpe:Tulane need to play. Tulane should have been playing James Madison in the bowl. Now. That's a good matchup. That would have been a good game. because at no point in time did anybody think Tulane was going to beat it in this ballgame. Nobody thought the same thing with James Madison. Scored with 34-6 at half. Game was over. And people were looking at it, man, that game was in the – No, it wasn't. No, it wasn't. That wasn't even close. They got to come up with the system. They got to come up with Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt, Texas would have been better in this. You notice I ain't mentioned Notre Dame.
55:24Shannon Sharpe:Right. Until they get in the conference, they did the right thing. Stay y 'all ass home crying. We ain't going to a bowl game, and ain't nobody missing you. Right. But, uh,
55:40Shannon Sharpe:41 to 10. That's crazy. 41 to 10. 41, Ocho. Well, you knew that was going to happen, though. Anybody that understands and watches. Well, everybody knew that was going to happen except the committee. Okay, if they're top 10, okay, Ocho, we put them in. But come on now. Come on. Y 'all know this is not the same now. Y 'all know James Madison and Tulane doesn't have the same caliber of player as Ole Miss and Oregon. So what did you expect to happen? I mean, listen, they understood what was going to happen. They understood what was going to happen, but they were deserving based on what they did throughout the season.
56:16Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe, you got to look at who they're playing. Okay, if you put Tulane in the SEC, you think they're going to have this record? Well, they're going to be 0-4, huh? Okay, you put them in the Big Ten. they're gonna have this record yeah they might go 500 you're not playing comparable opponents you're playing come on now yeah I'm listening I'm with you when you're right I ain't gonna argue the point I'm with you when you're right it's a great story it is hey we went to the college football playoffs one year and you can sell recruits that but after this ass whipping y 'all took it's gonna be hard for y 'all to get back in there again you're gonna probably need to be lost three games so you came in 11-2 you're going to need to be 13-0 you're going to have to be in the top 10 we can't be putting teams in come on now we got to be real about this and y 'all if Tulane, if y 'all schedule one of these SEC teams because I think they played Ole Miss didn't they play Ole Miss this year I think it was the second time they played Ole Miss
57:30they beat them 45 10 in the regular season yeah okay now they beat them 41 to 10
57:36Shannon Sharpe:hey well you're so they beat you they they beat you 86 to 20 two two times hey that's like that's like you get beat up you go home and you tell your mama you had a fight you got beat up and she's seeing you back out the house go back and fight him again whoop your ass again whoop your ass again nah you know hey he beat you so bad say you don't go out there and you fight him you don't fight him you gonna have to fight me well mama i'm gonna have to whip you that did you told me up mama you got to take it hey hey that's hell boy yeah i mean what come i i I get it. Like, you know, they're like, okay, we got to find ways for the, I guess like a mid-major.
58:19Shannon Sharpe:They're not a mid-major, Ocho, but I'm saying they're not a part.
58:25Shannon Sharpe:There's levels to this. There's levels. Yeah, it is. And listen, Ocho, just because, look. The committee knows that, huh? They know that. So, listen, I'm not sure how the voting goes. I'm not sure who those are that control the voting. but they saw fit to allow Tulane to be in. They saw fit to allow James Madison to be in. Well, the Rebs rolled the hell out of that wave. You knew it. They rolled the hell out of that wave. I mean, that wave and Ole Miss said, you know, they ain't got nowhere to be riding no waves in no Mississippi. I guess they're getting a dirty ass of the Mississippi River. But anyway, Ole Miss rolled the hell out of that green wave.
59:10Shannon Sharpe:look you got some nice gifts i i wonder what the uh the gift bag was you probably got some headphones some nice some nice gear and stuff like that school got a little check who got a little check too right yeah huh i guess they yeah i'm sure they do i'm sure they got a little money okay okay they probably get they probably got a thousand dollars fifteen hundred and you have the local barbers, the local barbers in Mississippi come cut the team's hair and everything like that. That's what they normally do, Ocho. That's it? Yeah, I mean, you can get your nice temper fade or whatever you want to do if you got, I guess you got braids, they'll have people come braid your hair.
59:48Shannon Sharpe:But, this, come on, man. And I, listen, I'm not saying that couldn't happen to a Power 5 team. Right. I'm not saying, I guess the Power 4 is not anymore a power five. But anyway, I'm not saying that that can't happen. But when you look at the power five, I know everybody's gonna say well look what Georgia did to TCU. TCU kicked Michigan ass to get there.
1:00:18Shannon Sharpe:If Tulane had to beat Alabama or Vanderbilt or Texas or Texas Tech, you know somebody, Ohio State, sign me up. You got your boy. It makes sense. it makes sense yeah man you can't be beating them teams like that oh man but uh and that's the thing i look i'm it'd be interesting to see i i didn't hear because what coach saban was on today it'd have been interesting what did coach saban have to say did you hear what he had to say ocho because i'm sure he was because he wasn't he wasn't too pleased to begin with right he's like because the level of competition that you played and to get this invite.
1:00:57Shannon Sharpe:I think he compared, I think I read he compared it to a minor league team, a triple A team winning a bunch of games and getting an opportunity to play for the World Series. Yeah. Get an opportunity to go to the playoffs you know, the big guy. That makes sense. Yeah. That makes sense. But weight classes, there's a reason why we have all these things. There's a difference. And just because you're good, that doesn't mean you're the best at it. No. So, oh man, they're 11-2. Okay, and? hey regardless you think you think Tulane is better than than Vanderbilt yeah you think you think Tulane is better than Tennessee uh uh uh Texas no absolutely not there's listen there's a reason they have white weight classes like you said also in college football there's there's levels huh there's levels there's levels to it and you see the discrepancy and the difference in levels when you have some of the smaller schools playing some of the bigger schools regardless of what your record shows.
1:01:55The play is different. The skill gap is different. The quality of players you get is different. And it showed.
1:02:03Shannon Sharpe:There's a reason why the SEC and the Big Ten put more players in the NFL than any other conferences. There's a reason why. Yeah, absolutely. If you just take the Big Ten and you take the SEC and you take all the other conferences, you take the ACC you take the Big 12, you take the Sun Belt, you take the AAC, you take whatever, they still don't. Because when you look at it, I mean, they putting 40 guys. They putting 40 guys. The SEC putting 40 guys. The Big Ten putting 35, 40 guys. That's crazy. A year. Come on, man. That's crazy.
1:02:48Shannon Sharpe:And Texas, I'm sure Sark is like, man, Man, these jokers got an opportunity to get their ass kicked. Texas was playing good at the right time. Vanderbilt playing good at the right time. Timing is everything.
1:03:05Shannon Sharpe:Morgan blasts James Madison by the score of 51-34. James Madison Dukes making their playoff debut, played well on offense. They gained 509 yards and scored 34 points despite leaving a couple of points on the board. Man, this game wasn't even close. no not at all and listen don't don't don't let the end the end game or the end score fool you and i probably 34 6 in the half yep i said i'm like well how much more of this game do i need to watch they tell my man go watch uh go go watch the uh uh the bears packers uh the lebron uh lebron about to come the laker game about the cup right i mean at one point wasn't it 48 it was 48 to something 48 to yeah 23 48 to 20 something yeah it was bad it was bad i mean there's no there's no way there's no way that james madison they don't they don't they ain't got enough rocks in their back pocket even even with organ on it's not even fair but one as you know games are won and lost right up front yeah that alone right there you don't have a chance you don't have a chance that's that's all that was was a tune-up game you know our box boxers have tuna fights and most of the time you have a tuna fight it's somebody that they know you are better than and all you're doing you're trying you're just working on your stuff that's all yeah that's all it was i mean you look at i mean at one point what 51 or 35 so people look at that like man and they had 500 yards of offense man that thing was so out of days like look let's not get anybody hurt right we got a We got a game next week or in two weeks or whenever they play.
1:04:50Shannon Sharpe:But it's –
1:04:55I don't know.
1:04:56Shannon Sharpe:Committee, y 'all got to rethink how y 'all do things. And I understand. Take the 12 best teams. Take the 12 best teams. Not necessarily the 12 highest ranked teams. So, committee, can you honestly say that James Madison and Tulane are better than Texas, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame? I ain't got no love lost for Notre Dame. Do you actually believe that James Madison and Tulane are better than the three teams I just mentioned? No, absolutely not. And the people that are part of the committee, they know that. But the criteria that they judge on, that they base everything off of, on who gets in and who doesn't, I mean, the criteria is what's messed up.
1:05:47Because there ain't no way in hell. Ain't no way in hell. James Madison to Oregon. Like, come on now. Come on now. Old Lane, I mean, Tulane, Old Mick, come on now. You have better teams that could have been in, regardless of whether they had two or three losses or not, you know, that would have given us better games to watch. It would have been better competition.
1:06:12Shannon Sharpe:And Texas is a bigger draw than James Madison or Tulane. Vanderbilt would have been a bigger draw. Notre Dame would have been a bigger draw. Because if you said it's about money,
1:06:24Shannon Sharpe:this was, this was, this was, they missed on this one, don't you? Yeah, they did. They missed on this one. They definitely did. They need to do a better job. Because this was,
1:06:41Shannon Sharpe:Oh, my goodness. I don't really know what to say. I mean, Ocho, I can't – I mean, how many people do you think turned the game at halftime? 34-6. What about watching? What do I hope is going to happen?
1:07:02I mean people made it this only people that are watching honestly yeah
1:07:11Shannon Sharpe:they put there's a reason why ESPN passed those games of TNT
1:07:21that's a good one it ain't no accident
1:07:26Shannon Sharpe:it is not an accident
1:07:34Shannon Sharpe:I don't know Chad I'm sorry guys that you had to watch James Madison and congratulations to those schools it's a hell of an accomplishment it's a hell of an accomplishment but it's just like Ocho with the HBCUs and you win your tournament and you get guess who they give you? They give you Duke they give you North Carolina they give you Kansas they give you Kentucky mm-hmm hey better you better better put your big boy bridges on
1:08:06Shannon Sharpe:and good ball oh Joe Adam Schefter just gave us an update on TJ Watt after missing two games due to a partially collapsed lung Watt's return to play remains murky and uncertain Watt's focus has been getting healthy from his partially collapsed lung returning to play as secondary. And he's not, and that's not been his focus. Doctors will assess how he feels next week to see if there's even a chance to play in week 17. But ideally, Watt gets more time to recover from his lung injury that resulted in him being ruled out Sunday game versus Detroit. Pittsburgh just got their fingers crossed saying, I hope he don't sue us.
1:08:46Eh, knowing him, I don't really see a plan.
1:08:50Shannon Sharpe:They gave him his money. They gave him 100 and what? 108? $809 million fully guaranteed. He's straight. He's good. He's good. Because it's the same thing that happened to, remember Tyrod Taylor with the Chargers. The Chargers. Yeah. Had some rib issues in the preseason. He got a thing in Jack then. They punctured his lung. He sued him. If I'm not mistaken, I think he won. Don't quote me on that. I believe it is by what I've read that, you know, he did file a suit. Can we look that up to make sure? Because I did think he filed a suit. hey just a just thinking about that needle going through the skin now that don't bother me that don't bother me at all because i had to get shot up at halftime because i was cramping in my calf the only thing that bothers me and it's cringy is the fact that them going in the ribs and then actually puncturing the lung that's the part that doesn't sit well with me because you got you what you say when you do dry needling they got to move it around well dry needling is that they're trying to get blood flow in there.
1:09:54Shannon Sharpe:It's kind of like you've seen James Harrison get all those acupunctures where he's looking like pinhead. He's got his whole back, his legs, ass, calves, everything. I wasn't no big fan of acupuncture. I did it one time. Man, that thing hurt worse than them needles. Then getting injected, I was like, no more of this for me. I'm good. Is that bad? For me. For me. Now, some people say it didn't bother them, but I'm like, I'm good. Yeah. I'm good. I want to see what that's like.
1:10:35Shannon Sharpe:I think it's going to be very hard. I think more probable than not, that all things being equal, Ocho, if the Pittsburgh Steelers make the playoffs, I think that's probably when we'll see JJ because that lung's going to have to inflate back up. Yeah. Yeah. I just don't like the way that sounds, boy. Yeah.
1:11:01Okay. Punch your lung.
1:11:11So, well, I guess they're saying that he got his salary.
1:11:17Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. So that's why, you know, it's going to trial. But he said, well, I had incentives too. I could have reached. Because that's when they had drafted Justin Herbert and he was going to be the starter. But he gets hurt. Justin Herbert plays out of his mind rookie of the year. Because Herbert and Chase came in the same year. Yeah. Yeah.
1:11:38Shannon Sharpe:So. He's like, I could have played and potentially got more as a starter somewhere else. He should have sued for more. But hey, they'll figure it out.
