In short
Nightcap Hour 1 covers NFL games (Bears vs. Commanders, Falcons vs. Bills) and debates about coaching pressure (Bills HC Sean McDermott “hot seat”), plus a discussion of NFL discipline (Brian Branch suspended for hitting Juju Smith-Schuster).
Guests
Shannon Sharpe (former Pro Bowl/all-pro; co-host/host persona “favorite uncle”). Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson (former NFL Pro Bowl/all-pro; Bengals Ring of Fame). Dave East is mentioned as joining later in hour two (not discussed in this transcript).
Key claims
- Bears beat Commanders 25-24 because Washington turned the ball over 3 times; “you pay double” for turnovers in bad weather.
- Caleb Williams played well (17/29, 252, 1 TD; no turnovers) and DeAndre Swift’s late runs mattered.
- Bijan Robinson is framed as a top-tier RB conversation; Falcons’ win showcased him.
- Bills looked average without Josh Allen “on,” and Sean McDermott is on the hot seat given underachievement and new stadium funding.
- Brian Branch’s post-play scuffle with Juju was reckless/childish; Juju’s antagonizing may have provoked it, but Branch deserved the fine/suspension.
Notable examples
- Bears walk-off FG after Commanders fumbles and an interception.
- Falcons’ 24-14 win: Michael Penix Jr. stats (20/32, 251, 1 TD, no picks), Bijan/James Cook production, Josh Allen 2 costly INTs, 4 sacks.
- Branch suspension: one game, $76,624 forfeited; Branch appeals.

2:02Shannon Sharpe:Hello, ladies and gentlemen, and thank you for joining us. The two top quarterbacks that were taken a year ago squared off again. And this time, number one, Caleb Williams, got the better of number two, J.D., Jaden Daniels. Remember last year, it was Jaden Daniels on the Hail Mary that won the game on the last play of the game. This time, Caleb Williams lead a game. They fumbled. The Commanders fumbled the football. The Chicago Bears ran it down and got them in field goal range. Caleb did, and they kicked a walk-off field goal, and they win 25-24. You guys know who I am. I'm your favorite uncle, Shannon Sharp, and there's my guy just fresh from the NBA Youngboy YB concert.

3:57Shannon Sharpe:We got Dave East joining us a little bit later. My camera just turned off.
4:07Shannon Sharpe:We got Dave East joining us in the second hour. but first the Bears beat the Commanders 25-24. Washington finished tonight with three turnovers. They had three turnovers coming into it tonight. They matched that with three tonight. Washington had two fumbles, one by Jayden Daniels and the other by Ja 'Cory Kosky-Merritt, and Jayden Daniels threw an interception. That led to costly possessions, and when you turn the football over, you've heard us say it before, you pay for that, and you pay double. So, Gif, I wonder what they're going to say now. Because, you know, when they lose, Caleb Williams is his fingernails.
4:47Shannon Sharpe:Man, stop picking your fingernails. So, I wonder what they're going to say now because now it's not. So, did he win? If I'm not mistaken, she had a close-up, and I saw his pinky, and it had nail polish on it. So, winning or losing, his nails don't have anything, Ocho, to do with winning and losing. I thought he was very well tonight. He was 17 of 29, 252, one touchdown. He did take three sacks, but he didn't turn the ball over. And when you take care of the football in Clement Weathers, hey, and you know he turns the ball over. They ran the ball. I thought DeAndre Swift did a great job of running the football, especially late, Ocho, because the one thing you didn't want to do was give Washington the ball back, and they made sure they didn't get it back.
5:31Shannon Sharpe:And he ran 14 carries, a buckle eight, 27 carries total for the Bears, 145 yards, one touchdown. Caleb Williams did have a touchdown pass. That was also to DeAndre Swift. But I thought they played really, really well. Washington's going to kick themselves because they turned the ball over, which they had done a great job of taking care of the football prior to tonight. Ocho, what? I know hopefully you watched the highlights on the way back to the house. Huh? Highlights. What about the highlights? Oh, the Bears, Washington. No, I didn't watch no highlights. I watched the game, huh? Okay. Yeah. So what did you like about what you saw from the Bears?
6:12Well, obviously, I like Caleb. Caleb was very passionate. He was struggling a little bit despite what it looked like. You could see he was a little frustrated on the sideline. There were some passes that he wasn't completing. But towards the end of the game, I think it was that third and four. But they really needed that play. He hit DeAndre Swift. Yep. And Swift went for goddamn 55. Obviously missed tackles. And when you play a game like that in inclement weather where it's very bad, the one thing you don't want to do is turn the ball over. And that's the one thing that the commanders did do.
6:47The commanders turned the ball over. They pressured. They had four and five-man pressures. The pressure, goddamn Jaden Daniels. And I don't want to say he didn't struggle, but obviously losing a fumble, getting sacked. Montez Sweat was hell. down there all night for him.
7:06Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but look, this game could have been a far – could have been better. I think you got to give the Bears defense a lot of credit. They brought Dennis Allen. Dennis Allen, we know he's a very good defensive coordinator. He hadn't had the success that you would like to see him have as a head coach. He was the head coach of the Raiders. He was the head coach of the Saints, and he didn't have success. But as a defensive coordinator, you go back and look at his time at the Broncos. You go back and look at his time at the D.C. with New Orleans. He's done a great job of coordinating defenses. And now he's back in that role.
7:36Shannon Sharpe:I thought Ben Johnson did a great job. You're right. They could have had an opportunity to maybe get the game to be ahead. But Caleb took his eyes off the ball. They had a shotgun snap and they were going to hand it to him. And he took his eyes off the ball. And the ball got here and he ended up losing a couple yards on the third and short. But he played well given the conditions. Now both teams played. It wasn't like one team was playing in a phone booth and the other team was playing outside and in clement weather. They were both. but I thought the Bears did a better job of dealing with that.
8:04Shannon Sharpe:And when you're dealing with factors like that, you got snow, you got sleet, you got rain, you got adverse conditions. Whichever team can handle those conditions the best, that is normally the team that's going to win the ball game. Go ahead. I was going to say not only handle the conditions the best, but also with those conditions, not turn the ball over. You got to protect the ball. Because, you know, as you always say, you pay double for those turnovers, and that's exactly what happened to the commanders tonight. Yes. Caleb Williams, 17-29, 252, one touchdown. Jaden Daniels was 19-26, 211, three touchdowns.
8:38Shannon Sharpe:But when you turn the ball over, you don't really get an opportunity because they turn it over early. But, hey, they'll learn from this. They got to do a better job of protecting because, look, there's no clear-cut favorite in either conference, I don't think. I don't think there's like, oh, my God, this team is unbeatable. I feel like on any given Sunday, if teams play their best and you're slightly off, now both teams play their best. Do I think Washington is a little better than Chicago? I do. But I think they lowered themselves or they elevated the Bears by turning the ball over three times.
9:11Shannon Sharpe:And you can't turn the ball over in this league because, look, as talented as J.D. is, they're not talented enough to overcome three turnovers. Yeah. And I thought Ben Johnson called a great game for the Bears. I thought he did an unbelievable job. I thought Kayla Williams did an unbelievable job of distributing the football. Look, they had two fumbles, but they ended up getting them back. But Washington's got to do a better job of taking care of the football, and mainly the quarterback, the ball's in your hand. You have to take care of the football, and he didn't do a good enough job of that tonight, and it cost him a victory.
9:45Shannon Sharpe:But they probably feel like they should have won the ball game. Because early on, Chicago, they kept them out of the end zone 6-6, 13-7 and then they score 10 points into the third quarter to end up taking the lead. And you see what happens when you turn the ball over late and Chicago gets an opportunity, Johnny on the spot, guy falls on it and takes off. And the next thing you know, they're going to travel back to Chicago with a victory. But you don't get an opportunity to sulk very long because you got a game next week. Right back to it. And sometimes that's the... 24-hour rule. sometimes that's the best thing is that you don't want to linger you hate to go into a bye week after the loss because you're thinking about it the whole time you're off and like man what we could be what we should be what could have been man i can't believe we let that one slip away you have to have a short memory uh you play monday night you're off tuesday you're right back at it wednesday so you have to you know you have to have a very you have to have amnesia you have to forget about it because there's nothing you can do about what just happened.
10:51Shannon Sharpe:That's over. Now, you can let it linger, and it'll cost you again on Sunday. Or you can forget about that and take your frustrations out on someone else Sunday. And I think that's what they're going to do. I think DQ will do a great job of rallying the troops, getting them ready to play. And I have no doubt in my mind we'll see a team that comes out invigorated. they'll take care of the football. Who do they play on Sunday? They'll take care of the football, but that's the one thing that you have to do a great job of is taking care of the football. Because even when you turn the ball over, even if teams aren't very good, you bring them up to your level.
11:31Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, most definitely. Oh, the Commanders play the Cowboys in Dallas? Wow, that's going to be a good one. They playing in Dallas? Yep. On Sunday? Yep. That's going to be a good one. That's going to be a very good one. That's going to be a very good one.
11:51Shannon Sharpe:Dallas, they want to get back on the winning track. Two teams that's losing, and they don't want to fall further behind in that division. Right. The Giants, they're like, look, the Giants play the Broncos. Woo. That's going to be a good one. That's going to be – the Eagles, who do the Eagles play? Or are the Eagles on the bye? They play the bike. See? Hey, whoever – I mean, you could be sitting pretty because what we thought was going to be a foregone conclusion after the Eagles lost two games, now all of a sudden, this division now is a toss-up. The Giants are starting to feel like, hey, we got a chance.
12:31Chance, yeah. The Commanders are like, hey, we definitely got a chance.
12:37Shannon Sharpe:Cowboys, hey, I don't know what the Cowboys, 2-3-1, but hey, hey, you beat the Commanders. Now you're 3-3-1. Right back in it. And they got four losses. You got three losses and a tie. You're in front of them because you beat them head to head. Hey. If Minnesota can give you some love. Yeah. If Broncos help the Broncos. Well, Broncos going to help y 'all out. Already put that call in. Baker. The Broncos going to help y 'all out. You think so? Yep. You've been real confident lately. Y 'all barely beat the Jets. See, in a situation like that, you don't have to do anything fancy. Okay. We don't have to take unnecessary risk because they can't move the ball.
13:28Shannon Sharpe:Think about how they score. They got a 72-yard kick return. They got a short field strip. Uh-huh. And they drove the ball one time. They got a safety. so they got three points on things that they generated we don't need to take no unnecessary risk and our best our best offense was their was the Jets offense yeah it was bad that was bad the funny thing about that was the NFL game if you show somebody that stat line and then tell them what game it was and who was playing they would probably say maybe it's high school maybe it's you know I've never seen nothing like that Never. But the Bears beat the Commanders, so now it's a matchup that we're going to see going forward.
14:17Shannon Sharpe:They're 1-1. Last year, Jaden Daniels on a Hail Mary wins it on a walk-off. This time, Caleb Williams drives his ball club down, gets them in position, and they kick a walk-off field goal 25-24. The Bears beat the Commanders. A game two. The World Cup is underway and it's been incredible. On our podcast, The Away End with Daniel Alarcon and John Green, we're talking about the games that have delighted us, the teams that have inspired us, what we're loving and what surprised us, all through the lens of being massive fans of the world's most beautiful game. Daniel, this tournament has been magical so far.
14:55The expanded field of teams has created some incredible matchups that have already made this World Cup one to remember. And now things get even more exciting with the intensity of the knockout rounds as the field is whittled down to one World Cup champion on July 19th. When you say it like that, I get a pain in my heart that the tournament is over. But there's a lot of soccer yet to go. And if the first few games of the round of 32 are any indication, anything is possible in the lead up to the final. We've got it covered from an ultra's perspective here on The Away End. So listen to The Away End with Daniel Alricone and John Green on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
15:37Shannon Sharpe:Atlanta Falcons took down the Buffalo Bills by the score of 24-14. Boy, that B. John Robinson was something special tonight. He was on one. He was in his bag tonight. Go ahead. Now, I was going to say he was in his bag. We need to have a conversation now. We need to have a conversation. We always talk about the top five backs. He was always in the discussion, for sure. He was always in the discussion. based on his small sample size and body of work so far this season. I mean. Well, this season he's been the best. He and Jonathan Taylor have been the two best. I just want to make sure we're on the same page because that's what we discussed and having that conversation with him being the best right now.
16:21You know, I mean, he damn near random. Wait, what the heck? My camera went out? Oh, that was you.
16:29Shannon Sharpe:What? What does it mean? Something went out. Michael Pennington Jr. was 20 of 32, 251 touchdown. No picks. B. John Robinson ran the ball 19 times for 170 yards and his career-long 81-yard touchdown run. Algier had 10 carries for 32 yards and a touchdown. Drake London, 10 for 158 and a touchdown. He almost got another one right before the half, but they replayed, reviewed it like they do all scoring and turnover plays. And it was deemed he stepped out at the one-yard line. B. John Robinson had six receptions for 68 yards. Look, he could do it all. Now, versatile, he's smooth. Oh, man, I love how silky smooth he is.
17:12Shannon Sharpe:He put that foot in the dirt. He's coming downhill. He's going to juke somebody in the hole. He's feathery. He's a pleasure to watch. Josh Allen did not have an MVP night. He was 15 to 26, 180, two touchdowns. But he threw two costly interceptions. the Falcons got after him they sacked him four times uh I was surprised Ocho James Cook ran the ball extremely well especially in the second half James Cook had 17 carries for 87 yards Josh Allen had six carries for 42 yards I was surprised at how they started the game off I thought they would run James Cook a little more early it seemed that the second half they came out and made a concerted effort to run him and give him the ball and you see the numbers are indicative of that but um give the falcons credit i thought their defense bowed their back when they needed to bow their backs they picked them off late in the ball game to seal the victory um look they were gonna have to score touchdown get the onside kick and then still get in field goal range with under uh 50 seconds left in the ball game which was gonna be a tall task it's not impossible but we don't have to worry about that because the ball got tipped and and the uh the backer picked it off.
18:22Shannon Sharpe:So with that being said, did you get an opportunity to see some of this game? Yeah, yeah. I was watching everything on my phone. I mean, I couldn't hear what was going on, but I was watching. Yeah, you didn't need to hear. You didn't need to hear.
18:40Shannon Sharpe:The Falcons. Falcons now are 3-2. The Falcons could easily, they could have easily beaten Tampa. Yeah. I forgot what happened to that Tampa game. uh young way co missed those shots he missed the kids that's right that's right oh man i can't believe they cut my dog man what you mean you can't believe it i mean that's my homie you know i mean he was cutting the food last year yeah but here's the thing when you you know being a kicker is it's tough yeah once it goes on joe yeah you see the kicker in San Fran. Yeah, Moody. He went last year. They brought him back. He kicked the game for the Bears.
19:28Shannon Sharpe:But sometimes you need to change your scenery. And I think somebody picked up Colt. Didn't somebody pick him up? He's on somebody's practice squad.
19:40Shannon Sharpe:But Buffalo, Buffalo did not look good tonight. I think they came out trying to throw the ball. Maybe it was because the Falcons, maybe it wasn't so much what they didn't do as opposed to what the Falcons did do. Right. Yeah, okay. 22 first down to 17, Falcons favor. They were 2-9 on third down. Buffalo was. Atlanta was 5-12. Atlanta had 443 yards of total offense. Buffalo had 291. Penalties, 8 for 64, 6 for 35, but it was their two turnovers. When you turn the ball over, you're asking somebody to beat your ass. And that's what the Falcons did Like, hey, you know, when you were young Hey, go out there and get me a switch Yeah, a funny thing too about it When I think about the Falcons Obviously being 3-2 Michael Penning Jr.
20:35doesn't have to do that much Even though they have Kyle Pitts They have Drake London, Ray McLeod And other weapons as well But with John Robinson running the goddamn ball The way he's running It takes all the pressure off the quarterback The quarterback doesn't have to do much except in certain situations, third downs where obviously you have to throw the ball, you know, when they know you're running. But B. John Robinson is playing so goddamn well where I don't think he, I don't think people understand as good as he is, the conversations obviously him being the best back in the league, even when everyone else gets back to, gets back to rhythm and getting in flow, including Saquon and Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry, a conversation still needs to be had with Bijan being in that top five, which, I mean, they were wrong about it, unless you're a Falcons fan, you know, last year.
21:27But, I mean, collectively as a whole, we're all NFL fans are in agreement that he's a top five back in this league.
21:33Shannon Sharpe:What the difference is is that you saw a lot of Saquon on national televised games last year. You saw Christian McCaffrey. You saw Derrick Henry. You don't really get an opportunity to see a whole lot of Falcons game. So he had a breakout game tonight, and people get an opportunity to see what you've been seeing and what we see that watch the games a little bit more closely other than teams that we root for. So we know what B. John Robinson is. We know he can run the football. We know he's elusive. He's a versatile back. He can run inside. He can run with power. He can run with speed. He can catch it.
22:05Shannon Sharpe:So we know maybe the casual fan is just getting him to B. John Robinson. Obviously, Falcon fans and people in Atlanta know exactly who and what he is. But maybe now the outside world is just not getting an opportunity to catch up because they have had some televised games. And that's what you need. Sometimes you need televised games because if you are one of those guys that don't that doesn't play in necessarily a big market or you have a Monday night or Sunday night game, people are not or you're in the big game, you in Fox, big game, the four o 'clock game or you in the big window at CBS, the one o 'clock game.
22:37Shannon Sharpe:unless you play in those games, which they're not, because normally that's reserved for the Cowboys, that's reserved for the Eagles, that's reserved for the teams like that, or Pittsburgh, or the Ravens, or Baltimore, things like that. But the Falcons, and if they win, if they continue to win the following year, normally what happens, you win, and then the following year, Ocho, that's when you get the games that are televised, because they normally reward you a year later. now maybe who knows maybe the uh the falcons get flexed and we see them on a sunday night or we see them or in a situation like this but b john is is yeah he that dude he that dude he nice um how many um a russia tim can we look up as right quick how many russia timbs did uh 17 cook have in the first half compared to the second half because it seemed to me i could be wrong um um that he ran more in the second half than he did the first half i mean 24 russia tip where they only had the ball like 50 plays i was right right yeah seven in the first half 10 in the second half yeah i know i was right
23:55but i think uh um and it wasn't like they tossed the ball to uh

24:02Shannon Sharpe:to Bijan, and he went 81 yards. And so that didn't take long until you got the ball back. It wasn't like they were having these grinded-out drives that, you know, 12, 14 plays, 16 plays, 20 plays, 18, 19 plays drives. They didn't have any of those. So Buffalo got to get back to the drawing board. Their defense is – their offense is their defense. Josh Allen normally has to wear that cape. Yes. And when he doesn't wear that cape, they're a very average football team. And that's how most teams are driven. You look at Lamar. When he doesn't have that cape on, now he has a big bringing back, but you still have to pay attention to number eight, Mahomes.
24:45Shannon Sharpe:He normally has to play great in order for them to win. And that's how the teams are situated now. You pay so much money to those guys, and when they don't play well, they look very marginal. They look very average. Yeah. And that's what happened tonight. Buffalo didn't look good tonight. Buffalo hadn't looked good, I don't think, the last two games. I think this is the second game they've lost, right? So this is back-to-back losses for them, Mocho, and they haven't looked good in either game. Sean McNarmid's going to have to do better. He's going to be on the hot seat. You think so? Absolutely.
25:21Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. Wait a minute. Now we talk about the Buffalo Bills. Yeah, we talk about the Buffalo Bills. and they just got approved for new funding for a new stadium. They've been, he's been the coach. He's the defensive coordinator. They got rid of Leslie Frazier. Yes. And at some point in time, the Pagoulas, they're going to want a return on that investment, which means getting to the Super Bowl. I'm tired of being the bridesmaid. I'm tired of attending everybody else's wedding and everybody else getting married except I. yeah I just I just don't see it maybe you see it a little different than me you maybe you see it a little differently than I do when I when I look at the bills obviously they're going to always come out the AFC East they're going to do that they're always going to be in contention so there's a chance that if they will they will be maybe in the AFC championship but I wouldn't see the pagoulas pulling the trigger that fast knowing that you already have a quarterback in place yes against somebody else to coach you you think so what's so at what point in time do i keep hitting my head on the ceiling and realize this is how i can go uh damn because look i don't care how big an animal is supposed to get but if you confine him into an environment he's only going to get so big he'll go to the confines of that environment right maybe maybe and i don't advocate anyone losing their job sean mcdermott is taking him as far as he can take him i mean at some point it happened tony dungy got fired oh yeah i remember And John Gruden did what?
26:54Shannon Sharpe:He came in the first year and did what? With the Super Bowl. Okay. With Keyshawn. We saw that with Mark Jackson and the Golden State Warriors. We see that a lot. We saw that with Phil Jackson with the Lakers. It happens. Mm-hmm. I don't know. Especially a team like that, that's so high power when Josh Allen is on, there's certain mistakes that they can't make in the playoffs that have haunted them. And most of the time, I hate the fact that the coach get blamed for the mistakes that the players make in important games where moments matter most. But I kind of get what you're saying, but I kind of don't because they're so good when Josh Allen is on.
27:36Shannon Sharpe:I didn't pay a guy$300 million for the regular season. That's not what I gave him$260 plus million fully guaranteed for. He's already been to the championship. How many times have he been to the championship game? And we see them, he keeps losing to who? Be it Kansas City at home or on the road, it does not matter. Yeah, yeah. He got to get over that hump, boy. Look, the Pagoulas, they got funding for a new stadium. They're going to have a new stadium in Buffalo. Yeah. And I know, look, when he wins 10 games, that's not good. 12 games, that's not good enough. They have underachieved. They got one of, no matter what you think of him, they have to have one of the three best quarterbacks in football.
28:30Shannon Sharpe:And they've had this type of high-powered offense for the longest. Yes. And every year that they don't get it done, this was supposed to be the year they take down Patrick Mahomes. This was supposed to be the year. Remember, Buffalo went in there and beat them. They had, oh, we want Patrick Mahomes. We got Patrick Mahomes and he got to come to Buffalo. He went to Buffalo, put foots in him. They go to Kansas City. He put foots in him. So it doesn't matter. At some point in time, Ocho, we've got to get to the promise. You had that conversation? Yeah. Yes. I'm telling you. Okay. I remember people told me I was crazy when I said Penn State is going to get tired of James Franklin.
29:10Shannon Sharpe:Now the AD said exactly what I said. It played a role that he couldn't beat the big time teams. He beat one team in the top ten in the Big Ten and that was 2016 when he beat Ohio State He's 4-21 against top ten opponents. I say they gonna get tired of that now You can't beat the team that you can't beat the big-time teams and now you losing the team You should never lose to lose to yeah Yeah, I mean I think I may oh man man you reach it He was just in the college football playoff last year. Now. Where is he at now? Yeah We get we go talk up. We're gonna talk about we're gonna talk about that We'll talk about it a little later.
29:44But I'm telling you, Ocho, these owners, they see in order to beat the man,
29:54Shannon Sharpe:you got to feel you have a man. They feel they got a guy that can go toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes. They feel they got a guy that can go toe-to-toe with Lamar Jackson, with Joe Burrow, whatever quarterback that you have in the AFC that you're going to need to stand toe-to-toe with and come out of the AFC to get to the Super Bowl, they feel they got one in 6 '5", 245-pound Josh Allen. Yes, sir. Now, the Pagoulas want to know why we keep coming up short.
30:25Okay. I hate that the onus always falls back on the coach, especially in games like that, especially in playoffs, where you're turning the ball over, where you're fumbling. and the coach, he got no control over that. But I mean, that's the business. That's the way it works.
30:45Shannon Sharpe:Let me ask you a question. Did they give Sean McVay credit for when they won the Super Bowl? Yeah. Okay. Did they give Coach Belichick any credit for winning them Super Bowls? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you can't get all the credit when things go well and then don't want any of the blame when they don't. Because guess what? What you just said. Now, you said the quarterback, the coach, don't fumble the ball and he don't do this and that. But when they win, he don't throw no touchdowns either. He don't get no sacks. He don't get no strip sacks, no scooping scores. But he gets credit. It's funny how that work, huh?
31:23Shannon Sharpe:It absolutely is. But I definitely did not see – I didn't see Buffalo struggling early.
31:39Shannon Sharpe:especially after the way they came back in that game that game the first game against the Ravens I thought they I was like okay well you look at the schedule like okay and it's really not surprising that it did I know Lamar played but seeing how the Ravens have looked since that game it's not surprising that they did come back and win that okay it was it was only a It was only a matter of time before the scabble and that came off and everything was exposed defensively. Now, having Lamar out, it just shows how valuable he is and how he's taking a team that just is god-awful, which they're not. They're just playing bad right now.
32:20Shannon Sharpe:No, the defense is bad. Now, the defense had their best game on Sunday. Yeah. Because the Rams are really good offensively. You got Puka, they got Devontae, they got Higbert. tight end. Kyron Williams can run the football. We know Matthew Stafford can throw it with the best quarterbacks in the NFL. And that defense is really, really good. The Rams got a really good defense. I thought the Ravens played their best game defensively. They got no help offensively, especially from the quarterback position. Cooper Rush was awful. I mean, I'm not breaking news to anybody and everybody knows that. He's been awful.
33:01Shannon Sharpe:Everybody thinks they have a great backup until the backup actually has to play. There's a reason the backup is the backup, aren't you? Yeah, you come in off the bench, Ocho, the starter goes down somewhere in the game, and you come in like, oh, yeah, we got us a backup. But what happens when he has to play for an extended period of time, which Cooper Rush has had to do? Yeah. It'd be nice to have one that can keep your team head above water. That's all you need. That's it. But it's hard, though. it's hard Ocho for the simple fact is is that you can't you know you used to have a guy that was you know eight nine ten years in the league you could pay him a decent salary now you gotta like hope a guy can develop on your bench or you get a guy that that was that was a career backup a career journeyman or something like that it's hard like think about it Steve Young was on the 49ers he just saw it for years and years and years and years.
34:01Shannon Sharpe:Ain't nobody doing that no more, Ocho. He sat for four, right? No, hell no. He got there in like 87. He sat 88, 89, 90, 91. Joe got hurt in 92. Okay. And he won the MVP. They traded Joe in 93. Dang. So he saw it for about six years. Joe went to Kansas City, huh? He did. Yeah. He did.
34:57as the field is whittled down to one World Cup champion on July 19th.
35:29Shannon Sharpe:Oh, that's crazy. Ocho, the NFL suspended Brian Branch for one game for hitting Juju Smith-Schuster. Excuse me. Branch stand to forfeit$76 ,624 for his one-game suspension. Branch is appealing the suspension. NFL vice president of football operation, John Runyon. Boy, boy, this ain't something. Your aggressive non-football acts was entirely unwarranted, poised to a serious risk of injury, and clearly violated the standard of conduct and sportsmanship expected of NFL players. Your conduct reflected poorly on the NFL and has no place in our game. Branch, I did a little childish thing. But I'm tired of people doing a little childish thing, okay?
36:22Shannon Sharpe:But I'm tired of people doing stuff between the plays and the ref. Don't catch it. They be trying to bully me out there, and I shouldn't have to have did what I did. It was childish. Come on. Come on, bro. You know how this – you played football too long. Ocho, we know how to get somebody back. If they're doing stuff to us to make it look like a play. So you doing this after that wasn't – no, no, no. That was reckless, bro. And I understand we're human. There's a human element of it. But what you should have done is just walked onto the locker room. You already know you boiling. You know that, Ocho.
37:02Shannon Sharpe:Just go. Head to the locker room. Because you did all that talking. Now, think about how when they winning. Let me ask you a question. Had they won, do you think he would have done that? If the same thing, if the same course of action, He said Juju hit him in his back, and it was right there in front of the referee, and the ref didn't do anything. Had they won this game, Ocho, do you believe Brian Branch would have acted in the manner in which he acted? No, I don't think so. But I think, you know what else happened? He was antagonizing not only all game. The toss crack, he came down, he caught Brian Branch.
37:40Brian Branch, obviously, you got to know that somebody got to call that out too. Yes. Somebody got to call it. They didn't call it out. He got Brian real good on. hitting right in the side of the air hole. Yes. After the game, goddamn Juju must have been antagonizing during the game. He had the nerve to come up and try to shake his hand. Yeah. He was playing games in the game.
38:00Shannon Sharpe:Man, stop. Hey, bro, how you doing? Hey, Ocho, no hard feelings. Whatever happened in the game, happened in the game. We leave it in the game, Ocho. Right, right. Hold on. What's that? If it's in the game, it's in the game. Game, yeah. EA. EA. Okay. If it's in the game, it's in the game. We left it in the game. Ocho. That might be personal, huh? That might be personal. Think about it. They should have been stealing on us. I should have been getting stealing on us every game because all I did was talk. Oh, okay. Ocho, think about it. All you did was talk. Yeah. But see, you know, our stuff, well, my stuff, my stuff wasn't malicious.
38:36My stuff was fun. Yours, I don't know if yours was different.
38:40Shannon Sharpe:It all depends on what you wanted to talk about. Right. Because we could take it there.
38:49Shannon Sharpe:we can take it there you want to make it personal we'll make it personal if you want to keep it about athletic ability you're not very good we can take it there but if you want to take it to another place we can go there too hey I'm going to make sure whatever you give me I'm going to give it back to you plus shipping and handling because I need to make sure you get it and like I said anybody with the exception of B Cox anybody that did something dirty to me in the game I got their ass back I made it look just like a play I cut a dude in the charges put him out for the rest of the year I will get you back man you and my I got a family to feed you didn't think about that my family you don't give a damn about my family I give less than a damn about yours I can't play with his knees though I can he played with my knees yeah it's a game hey don't you want to play this game mocho yeah I understand but you know once that knee go out you know most of the time you're never the same unless you Adrian Peterson you ain't never the same he didn't think about that when he hit me in my knee yeah I got you I got you oh so you want me to you want me to think about his knees when he gave less than a damn about mine hey just a thought of that so what about my grandma what about my sister what about my kids.
40:13Shannon Sharpe:No, I'm going to get you back. I'm going to get you back. I'm not going to hurt my team. I'm not going to get a penalty to hurt my team, but I will get you. Oh, guess what? You got a teammate. I get him. Right. Y 'all know how I deal with the family. You in the family, in the streets. If I can't get you, I get somebody close to you. Okay. Okay. It sound like you sound like with the YNs now, okay. Nah, hey. All I, hey. How we do, all I needed to know at the game, how we doing this? Snap the whistle or snap to after the whistle? Because I can do it either way. It don't make me no never mind. Right.
40:57So, nah.
41:00Shannon Sharpe:You're not finna do that. You're not finna cheap shot me and think I ain't finna get you back. Well, I think we played the Falcons one time. and they caught me with that cheap shot. I think whoever the defensive coordinator was that time in 2007, they told them to do that. They told whoever the safety was at that time. I can't remember the safety's name. I mean, the play was clearly over and the head, the coach, whoever the defensive coordinator, maybe the head coach, I need y 'all to get Chad off his game. Just hit him after the play. I'm talking about Unc, I'm clean walking back to the huddle.
41:33Dude came full speed. Full speed, clean my clock. and the rep came and grabbed me so that's how y 'all want to play? That's how we're going to play? Well obviously I wasn't a physically imposing type player but man I lit their ass up after that. That's the game I did the little salsa celebrate. Oh yeah. I had me a day.
42:02Shannon Sharpe:We had a what you call them? as a matter of fact we was playing the Bengals don't do that no it wasn't us it wasn't us I took out the whole defensive line I did a text block how you took out everybody they tripped up they had to leg whip everything I got the guy that was inside of me I cross body him and then I leg whipped the guy that tried to jump got him Wait, they ain't called a leg whip? Joe didn't. Yeah, they must not have been used to seeing it back then. Hey, I'm going to get you back, Ocho. I got to. It's a must. Bro. I forget my – damn, man, my bad. I thought I was blocking. Yeah. John done zoomed one by my ear.
42:52Shannon Sharpe:I'm just going to get – I'm going to get the corner.
42:57Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm trying to ask, look at 97 and see who the starting cornerback was for outside of Dale Carter. And I forget the other guy, but man being him. And New Orleans, New Orleans. No, he was at Kansas City, 97 starter. And he was for, we used to battle. Warfield, right? Nah. Oh, he was there. I think that was like 2000. That was the 2000. Okay. I'm tripping. My bad. they had done got soft in but you know dealing with DC and the other dude I can't think of his name oh man oh we used to oh we used to battle Ocho oh when I say we battle yeah I mean sometimes hey they would just put me outside say we don't want you to just run him over just fight him okay Hey, just give me a couple of passes.
43:57Shannon Sharpe:Let me keep my streak alive. One catch, one catch a game. I'm good. How do you want to do it?
44:08Shannon Sharpe:Hey, who was the lead? D.C. was the left corner. Who was the right corner? James Hastie. Oh, I remember James Hastie. James Hastie. Hey, Chad, me and Hastie used to battle. because he tried to poke the receivers. I'm not it. Not me. Hey, James. I told him I'd say SHRPE. I don't play them games.
44:40So you was there with Dave. Remember I caught Dale Carter with the Ravens with Prime.
44:45Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I played a year with DC and Denver. I mean, yeah. He came to us. DC came, what year was DC? Like 90, like mid-90s, like 95, 96? And then he played with me, but, you know, him and Hastie, you know, as a homeboy. Yeah. Just, hey, let's make sure we stay homeboy because they got nothing to do with you. It got to do with him. Right. Me and, what you call them, me and DT fell out by that, rest his soul. Derek Thomas? I was getting into it with Wayne Simmons. I made sure. I never cut DT. Never. Never tried to crack back on him or anything. Me and Wayne Simmons getting into it. He came. I'm like, I said, DT, this ain't got nothing to do with you.
45:41Shannon Sharpe:Leave that alone. Well, it got something to do with me now. Uh-oh. Yes.
45:51Shannon Sharpe:I said, let's not. Hey, Ochoa, I said, I said, bro, bro, this ain't your fight. Right, right. Let his, Wayne Simmons rest his soul. He tragically lost his life in an automobile accident. Yeah. But, bro, mm-mm. Once I go in. It's a wrap. It's on. Pittsburgh, Earl, Earl. uh what was the dude name earl holmes earl holmes oh he snuck and got me too he got me though he got me oh man that joke yeah if you go back and look at it i was mic'd up and we uh we scored a touchdown and i went to him i said we're gonna take advantage of you you the weak link right you that's you Earl was the mic back then yeah he was he was a plug because you know back then they ran the 3-4 so yeah they had the mic the plug, the Sam and the wheel oh yeah he got me but he said this was a bro no a child is somebody walking off and you kick the back of their foot and they trip this ain't no childish, that's grown man behavior bro you Ocho you know why they got it yeah because the whole world is watching that game oh yeah absolutely and they tried to go to commercial and they get this no though we can't go to commercial we can't go to commercial now everybody see that yeah and you saw the picture of Juju it looked like what yeah I got it Ocho that's a meme oh man come on now hey hey they ain't that road a little scuffle every blue moon every blue moon keep it keep it exciting keep it exciting every blue moon what do you think if it what you think you're gonna shove me in my face and i'm just gonna just let that walk we the boat the only thing i hate juju congratulations juju you able to do it yeah hey everybody keep your hands to yourself that's the number one rule keep your hands to yourself.
47:57Shannon Sharpe:You ain't got no kids this age. So don't put your hands on me. Boy, a whole new football game would have been played on that field. I don't know if that field, that turf got tore up, but it got tore up after that. And Juju, Juju came back, he was like, he ain't coming over the field. Come on, man. Pacheco got the dude, and the dude grabbed your face mask and still throw you down? hell no hey good ain't nothing like a good old squabble this is about to my lead podcast the state of podcast to lead football to real men I guess you didn't know what I did before I started podcasting
48:47Shannon Sharpe:I don't know if he gonna win this appeal I mean oh that's a lot of money that's a game check they're taking away from him Wait, how much did you find him? 76 ,000. 76 ,624, a game check. I know he'd go get a game for that. Ocho, the whole world saw that. Yeah. It's the same thing with Carter. Jalen Carter. Jalen Carter. Had it happened in the game, he'd have got suspended. But because he got ejected, and when you get ejected, X, Y, and Z, that's why they didn't suspend him. Oh, I already knew he was getting a game. He was going to get that game. And the whole world saw that? They watching? They might be a little...
49:35Shannon Sharpe:NFL ain't going to let you... They don't do everything they can to protect that shield, Ocho. You know that. If they fined you for your socks roll down... Ocho, how many times do you think I got fined for socks roll down? Now they let the guys cut their jersey. We tried to cut our jersey and that was$5 ,000,$10 ,000. Y 'all owe me about$150 back. Listen, I cut mine and had it sold. It had it sold so it stopped right at the waistline. Yes. Got in trouble for that. Got in trouble for my socks being too low. Got in trouble for wearing gold cleats. I used to cut the towel in the bathroom. Yeah. And made a little streamer hanging off the side.
50:12No, you can't hang in a note.
50:13Shannon Sharpe:It's got to be an NFL issue. Man, listen, I take the fine. The black chin strap, the orange chin strap. Man, I ain't mad. what you have with my because I used to have a blue. I got a white one but I used to have I used to have a blue one. Yeah. No. That's well.
50:47Shannon Sharpe:I acted I acted right when I got to Baltimore. I didn't do all that right but nah you uh guys this is how it normally works in an nfl game if you cheap shot somebody they go to hell and beyond to get you back but in the process of that they make it look now sometimes they just don't give a damn they're just like i'm gonna take the i'm gonna take the 15-yard penalty i wasn't willing to put my team in harm's way by taking a 15-yard penalty so now I got to get your ass back, but I got to make it look like I'm blocking you But I'm gonna get you back That's me When you do when you take it here after there's no play going on Ocho everybody's decompressed Hey boy, how you doing man?
51:35Shannon Sharpe:Good to see you man, man. Hey good game, man. Hey, Ocho, man You ballin' day, man. Congratulations to a big one. Hey, we'll see y 'all down the road. We'll see y 'all again So forth and so on. So ain't nobody thinking about that, right? Once the game's over, I'm done. Now, if I'm ticked off about something, I'm going straight to the locker room. I'm not mingling around because I already know. See, me, Ocho, I'm a terrible loser. I'm a worse winner. So, you've been talking. Oh, you've been talking, talking? And we win? Oh, I got to stay out there, Ocho. I got to stay out there. Yeah, and, you know, in Brian Branch's defense, obviously the game was over.
52:16Juju went up to him. So in a sense, he damn near provoked him.
52:20Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, the man stuck his hand out. All you had to do was walk by. So if somebody walked by to shake your hand and they mush you in the face, you provoked him, Ocho, because you stuck your hand out. You see how that sounds? You stick your hand out to shake somebody's hand. They mush you in your face. Yeah, I know how the optics of it look. But I also know that goddamn those folks in that appeal office, whoever you got appealed to, they seen the goddamn game. Jay Thrash and Brooks. So Merton Hanks don't do it no more? Uh-uh. Yeah. Runyon took, John Runyon took Merton's job. Okay. Yeah, goddamn Hanks.
52:58Shannon Sharpe:But Thrash, you appeal either to James Thrash or Brooks, Derek D.B., Brooksie. And then it goes to, so Runyon hands it out, and then you appeal it to Thrash and Brooks. Okay. but just bro he got you so let me ask you a question Ocho you think that's the first time that Brian Branch has ever been hitting a clip in the back oh probably probably not a toss crack no no absolutely not but I think if you play safety of course yeah but Juju is one who's known to to get under people's skin he's done it before yes and he got he got him good to get to get Brian branch to break characters like that in a game, not only during the game, but after the game as well, you know it had to be something serious.
53:50Shannon Sharpe:He couldn't play in the 90s and 2000s, because what was he going to do with Heinz Ward? What was he going to do with Heinz Ward? That's a different ball game. He upset about Juju? They changed the rule because of Heinz Ward. Remember what Juju did to Burfecht? Remember you got Burfecht? Yes. I remember what Hines did to Keith Rivers. And Broke's jaw? Yeah. Yes. They outlawed the blindside block because of him. Sapp was the one that they put the defense can't crack back on because when Sapp got Chad Clifton, and I think what he just dislocated his hip. That sounds familiar, Chad Clifton. He was an offensive lineman.
54:37Shannon Sharpe:Tampa got a pick. He was chasing and Sapp peeled back. I think he dislocated his hip. That's why him and the head coach was going into it. And Sapp told him, you're so tough, put a helmet on. You're so tough, put a helmet on. I remember that game. I remember that game.
55:00Shannon Sharpe:Man, it's football. God, Ocho, you know you're going to get clipped. You're going to get hit. It's football. Something's going to happen. For me, once the game is over, if I didn't get your ass back in that game, hopefully it's a division opponent because I see your ass again, either at your place or ours. And I'm going to remember too. I'm not going to forget. Oh, I'm like an elephant. I won't forget it. Yeah. The best memory of all. Is get back. But look, I think the thing is that just take ownership. you see how Dan Campbell was Dan Campbell said I love him but he said that ain't who we are take hey just take ownership of it it was my bad I let my emotions get the best of me you want to appeal it I ain't got no problem yes appeal it but to say this was a little childish thing
56:01little little A little seven, a little seven. A little scrum.
56:06Shannon Sharpe:A little scrum. Nah, nah, nah. Ocho, after Tua dimed out his teammates during last night's press conference, Mike McDaniel said today he believes Tua could have handled things differently. Yeah, by not throwing three interceptions. Let's take a listen to what the head coach had to say. After a loss as the franchise quarterback, that's not the forum to displace that. I think he knows that now. I do honestly believe it was not, there's no ill intention, but you're talking about, you know, I think kind of a misguided representation of player orchestrated film sessions. and you know the bottom line is no one's going to be happy and always is looking for reasons for failure to succeed so you're trying to look for reasons that you know you can attribute to losses and there's a you know heavy as the crown of being a franchise quarterback I think you know What I do know is that he's directly communicated with a lot of guys started with last night, and that's what teammates do, and you live and you learn.
57:30Shannon Sharpe:What's wrong with Mike, huh? He beat. Bro, he knows it's over, Ocho. He knows it's over. I know. It just doesn't seem right. Not only that, but the way you lose it and you know after the end of the year, it might become before the end of the year. You see, we're going to talk about the Tennessee situation. How Callahan, after a year and a half, he got dismissed, which is seemingly not shocking. Because if you go look at most of the last number one overall draft picks in the last 10 years, only two coaches have remained the entire season. And they were fired and one of them was fired after the season.
58:10So with that being said, Tua, if film study, if this is something that you guys instituted, you
58:25Shannon Sharpe:being a captain, you're responsible for making sure everybody shows up and how important it is to be on time. That's not Mac McDaniel's job. Now, if they show up late to his meeting, they ain't got nothing to do with it. Yeah, you try to say, hey, come on, guys. Let's be professional. Let's be pros. Profession is our occupation. We're professional football players. A pro is how we go about our business. We show up on time. That. Now, if you had team individual, let's say wide receiver, you got film study, or we got film study as an office. As the captain, it's my job to make sure and explain it clearly, concise.
59:08Shannon Sharpe:It starts at this time. Guys, this kind of what got us in this situation, we started letting things slip. We started letting one minute turn to two minutes, turn to three minutes, turn to five minutes, and guys started walking theirself eight, nine, ten minutes after. We see guys start coming, you know, running on the field with the pads un-thing. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. That wasn't happening. That can't happen. And so you have to make them, have to hope they understand the importance. but it's hard because I don't think people look at Tua as a leader. That's his problem. Hey, you know what?
59:46I have to say something. If they didn't see Tua as a quarterback, number one, if they didn't see Tua as a leader, then they wouldn't have paid him what they paid him, huh?
59:55Shannon Sharpe:No. Tell me what choice they have.
1:00:01Shannon Sharpe:Now, Brian Flores wanted Justin Herbert, the owner. wanted to. So guess who won? Could you imagine? Didn't play that Brian Flores came from Bill Belichick. You know damn well, you're not walking in the team meeting. You're not walking the individual meeting. You're not walking into meetings late. You're not walking into practice late. You're going to be at the plane on time, but they didn't like that. That was too difficult. So now this is what you got. Yeah. Former Dolphins wide receiver Deshaun Hamilton says Tua himself showed up late for the first team meeting and nobody seemed to care. Doesn't seem like his fellow players respect him or see Tua as the leader of the team.
1:00:44Shannon Sharpe:Oh, who said from the outside? Look at it. He played with Tua. Who said that? What's his name? A former teammate, Deshaun Hamilton. Damn, man. That's not good when they come out talking, talking, talking about you like. All I know as a former NFL player with 14 seasons under my belt and being a leader, I know what leadership looks like. And I know when people respect you as such. Right. They don't. Now, they're going to come out. Listen, they're going to come out and say all the things. They're going to say, you know, everything is cool. But they don't. I've been there. I've said things about a locker room and everybody attacked me.
1:01:27Shannon Sharpe:And then after the season, it started leaking out. Yeah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Hey, I'm going to take it on the chin. Oh, hey. They don't. They don't. I promise you, it wasn't very often when things weren't going well. Hey, guys, let's have a quick meeting. Right. It is wide receivers. Let's meet right quick. Hey, let's get together as an offensive group. No call outs? No, we have to call nobody out. But everybody, hey, we got a quick meeting, such and such. Hey, after everybody walk out the field, hey, hold on for just a second. Right. But that was a respect level that they have to have for you.
1:02:09Shannon Sharpe:But you can't ask more than you're willing to give. See, you can't ask somebody to be on time and then you show up late. You can't ask somebody to give their all and you don't. You can't ask somebody to take a needle to the butt, to the knee, to the back, to whatever, to the shoulders, to the ribs when you won't. Right. You never ask more than you're willing to give yourself. Don't ask somebody to come in in shape and your fat ass out of shape. That's how I operate. It's really simple. Guys know, man, look, I already know Sharp going to be on time. I already know Sharp and he's getting his rest.
1:02:44Shannon Sharpe:I already know Sharp studied his stuff. That's how you got the lead. See, everything Tua said could have been true, but you can't say that after you turn the ball over three times. because it make it seem like you didn't take your ass to the meeting because you were throwing the ball right to him. You see how that – see, timing has a lot to do with when and what you say, Ocho. Right. You can't – now, if Tua goes out there, Ocho, he throws for 400, got four touchdowns. Oh, he good. He good you. Say whatever you want. But you go out there and you throw three picks. So I want to know, but them guys coming in late in the meeting, them guys not coming in the meeting, how did that cause you to throw those three interceptions?
1:03:34Shannon Sharpe:I just don't believe it. I could be totally wrong. I doubt it. I don't believe the bulk of those guys look at him as the true leader of that team. Let me ask you a question. If Patrick Mahomes called the team meeting and said, okay, guys, I want to receive blah, blah, blah. You think they're coming in late? No. If Lamar Jackson calls that, if Josh Allen, because you said he's a franchise quarterback, franchise quarterbacks call things, people show up. Right.
1:04:06Shannon Sharpe:It didn't do him any good. What was his quote about whether he lose, he goes home to his kids and they're happy to see him? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no matter what. Even though that might be true, you can't say that. Right.
1:04:23that's tough that's tough especially especially the part about your players your players that in the locker room that are supposed to view you listen they voted you captain if everybody voted you captain it was i'm assuming it was you bro stop it you know good damn well how that that that rig voted system i don't know i don't know i just never seen never seen a team or or I think more stuff is going to come out. More stuff is going to unravel as things get worse, you know. I mean, they can only go up from here.
1:04:59Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, I'm not on social media. I go home, see my kids, whether I throw five picks or five touchdowns, we win the game, we lose the game. I get to come home to my kids who are happy to see me every time. Bro, you think I want to hear that? No, no. I'm happy you get to go home. I'm happy you get to go home. I'm happy I am happy that it does I'm sad I'm disappointed that it don't bother you because guess what it bothers me because I knew what I put in so that tells me you're not putting enough in because when you put something in Ocho chat you know this when you put something in when you work really really hard for something and it doesn't go well it bothers you yeah and for him it not to bother him?
1:05:41Yep.
1:05:42Shannon Sharpe:That's that. Hell to the no. Now see, I'm going to have a problem with him, Mocho. I'm going to have a problem because it's got to matter to you. It's got to matter. And it don't matter enough to it. Listen, everything matters to different people in different ways. Some people handle it and show it in different ways. Somebody might show his a little different than you show yours. You might be a little bit more, more boisterous, a little boisterous. Name a great player. I'll tell you what, go interview any great player. Right. In anything in business, they work really, really hard to close this deal.
1:06:23Yes.
1:06:24Shannon Sharpe:They didn't close. Ask any great, I'm talking about, I mean, I would like to think he's trying to be great. They're paying him to be great. Absolutely. named a great player that have failed at something and then well i got to go home to my kids
1:06:46Shannon Sharpe:i don't like the way you see it like that i'm just saying it's funny it's funny how i hear people and i hear these people that's worth billions and billions of dollars they built these companies They say, guys, you expect to work 36 to 40 hours a week. You expect to have this X, Y, and Z and be great and have this enormous wealth and have work-life balance? If you want work-life balance, that's fine. That's fine. But I just go talk to the great. Ask Michael Jordan how he felt when he lost. Ask Kobe. Ask Braun. Ask John Elway. Ask Peyton. Ask Tom Brady. Ask Ray. Ask any of the greats because I think that's what he aspires to be.
1:07:37Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, absolutely. I mean, that's what you play the game for. But, Ocho, let's just say for the sake of argument, that's the case. Don't say that. Everything, see, everything is not meant to be said. You might feel a certain way about a certain thing. just keep it to yourself. Because you know how a lot of guys because a lot of guys, it bothers them to lose. Because they put a lot into it. That's not to say to a don't. Just keep that to yourself. Yeah. It's going to be tough, man. I hope Mike McDaniels make it. I don't know if he is. If he's going to make it, it's all going to be on Tua's shoulders.
1:08:23You know, as Tua goes, the rest of that team goes, especially offensively. You let one slip away from you last week, something's going to have to turn around.
1:08:32Shannon Sharpe:I think, Ocho? Yeah. I don't think McDaniel's going to be there next year. No. The question is, the next coach, you got money tied up in him. How can I, does the next coach believe, because here's the thing. They're probably going to say, what can you do with Tuba? Because you know that's what happens, Ocho. Yeah. Everybody coming in there, I can do this, I can get this out of him, I can make him blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Everybody is selling. They're going to sell a dream every time. You know it. They're going to sell a dream every time. The World Cup is underway and it's been incredible.
