7:56Shannon Sharpe:Joe, Brendan Soresby, the Texas Tech quarterback of mutually parting ways. Soresby will not play college football in 2026. According to Tom Pelissero, Soresby is applying to enter the NFL supplemental draft after legally wrangling with the NCAA eligibility. Soresby, regarded as a first-round talent, now could be the highest drafted supplemental player picked in decades. Ocho? Yes. Obviously, we know the story. He admitted to betting on games, even games in which he participated in. And for some, I don't know maybe the system. I don't know the system as well as I think I do because every time you think you got it figured out, the system throws you a curveball.

8:40Yes, sir.

8:40Shannon Sharpe:But here's a guy that admitted, yes, I gambled. Over 90 times, I've placed bets on collegiate games. Some of the games that I bet on, I was actually participating in. Yes, sir. And still, a court, judges, four judges, says, you know what? Irreparable harm will be done to this young man if Texas Tech do not allow him to play. Excuse me, if the NCAA does not allow him to play. So we're putting a stay on the injunction, and he's going to be able to play. But after careful deliberations, you see everybody having something to say about it. There's something really wrong with the system. when someone to commit they did something which is probably the probably the worst thing you can do if you're a professional athlete oh yeah no question they are mutually texas tech and sores b are agreeing to mutually part ways oh joe let me get your thoughts first and joe we'll turn it over to you well obviously texas test understands uh when it comes to gambling the integrity of college football in general for one you already got nil they're not they're not happy about that now they're control they're trying to control that then you have sores b going on behind his back and doing things that you know that are legal trying to earn extra money on top of what you're already getting you know which is which is which is a blessing and you know in in general so the integrity of the game it's somewhat ruined uh the court actually allowing him to play with texics tech it wouldn't have sat it wouldn't have sat well and it's just too much noise and it's too much too much too much of a stormy weather around the program to allow him to play this

10:10Chad Johnson:season hey joe what you thinking i mean when you talk about the integrity of the game fellas ultra i'm with you yes sir the admission that you've committed this come on bro yeah hey you you got to move on we can it's i don't even know how how in the hell they reinstated him for him to be able to play college football but i think this is the best thing bro for him to be moving on you know i just think it's it's hard bro it's hard to really trust somebody under those circumstances when you've committed something like that especially in the sports world bro there's no room for that bro there's no room for it i think the problem that you have and you've

10:49Shannon Sharpe:seen an uptick in this over the since sports betting has become so prevalent yes we've seen an uptick yeah where people are starting not to believe what they see oh this is a somebody got the call the referees a the referees got this team yeah oh man he sold this game yeah okay yeah We're starting to see an uptick in that, Ocho, Joe. So we get a guy that says, yeah, over 90 times over the course of my NCAA career, I bet on college games. I think he bet on NFL also. But there are times in games in which I was on the team or I was participating, I betted on those games. You know, Pete Rose can't get into the Hall of Fame.

11:33Shannon Sharpe:Although he said he didn't bet on his team, The MLB, and I'm trying to think who it was at the time. I think Faye Benson said, nah, we good. They had the Dodd report that they did all this deep dive and found out that he had actually bet on major league games, even though he said he didn't bet on his own game. They said that's still. Joe Jackson got the second highest lifetime batting average, a.358. He can't get in. Shoeless Joe Jackson.

12:03Chad Johnson:Yeah.

12:04Shannon Sharpe:He got a.358 lifetime career batting average. only ty cobb is higher they said nah nah bro the black socks scandal yeah i'm sorry i'm sorry so for this admission and we still let it slide yes and look if it was a one-time thing ocho you know what ocho you placed you placed the bed okay fine 90 times hey that's a lot of hold on hold on not not only hold on uncle joe this was you don't understand not only did you bet 90 times but you actually bet in games where you can influence the wins and the losses. Yes. That's even worse in itself. Yes. You know in individual events you can like soccer you can not soccer but golf you can bet on yourself in tennis you can bet on yourself.

12:52Shannon Sharpe:You can bet on yourself to win the tournament. But in a situation like what he's doing throw a pick a turnover X, Y, and Z that I can different. Nah, bro.

13:05Chad Johnson:Look, look. Hey, you know why it's so tough, though? It's because college is a professional sport now. It is. It's no longer the regular collegiate cats. Man, listen. These cats, you know, they're recruiting older guys now who've already been in the system who know. Like, hey, man, if you 18, 19 years old, it's going to be hard to get recruited nowadays unless you're, like, one of the blue shit. Yeah, you got to be damn near four. You definitely before Firestar. Yeah, oh, yeah. That's the only way you're getting recruited now, man. You know what I mean? So you got to look at it, you know, from some of these players' perspectives because guess what?

13:41Chad Johnson:It's been a host of other guys who got caught in college betting on games too, like Ocho, in basketball and in football.

13:49Shannon Sharpe:You got to think about it. How guys, Todd Gurley, got suspended for autographs. A.J. Green got suspended for autographs. Terrell Pryor lost his career because he sold things that belonged to him. He sold his jersey, his pants from the Sugar Bowl, I think. He sold a pendant. And it followed him to the league. He had never, ever seen the league punish a player for something that he did in college. Terrell Pryor was the first. Because even if you have a drug suspension, Ocho, they wipe the slate clean when you come to the NFL. Terrell Pryor was the first. That he had something that he did in college that did not impact the NFL, and they punished him.

14:30Shannon Sharpe:NFL P.A. still haven't forgiven you for that because y 'all allowed that to happen on y 'all watch yeah imagine if you did something at one job you know what you leave that job go get another and say you know what Ocho you did over there so we gonna suspend your pay we gonna take two months of your salary for what you did over there yeah that's basically what the NFL did they punished him for something that he didn't do on their watch this situation and like I said, it could be, but 90 times. If it was, let's just, you know what? I'm willing to concede if it was one or two, maybe even five. Let's just be generous, you know, five times.

15:09Shannon Sharpe:How you place 90, 90 bets. That's a lot. How much did he wage, like$40 ,000?

15:23You know what? To me, it sounds egregious. You know, Unc? but you have to understand to those that actually gamble and who are used to it they might see it different not betting on college games, not betting on yourself but the amount of bets that he placed

15:38Chad Johnson:that's a lot of bets bro

15:39Shannon Sharpe:oh let me take that back Ocho Joe, he placed 9 ,000 bets, more than $90 ,000 9-0 comma 0-0-0

15:52Chad Johnson:oh so he used to do

15:54Shannon Sharpe:90 ,000 wait over a span of 9 ,000 bets,$90 ,000. Yeah. 9 ,000. Damn. 9 ,000 bets,$90 ,000. Over a course of how many years, huh? Well, he said he was betting when he was on Indiana over three years. Wow. Jeez. So guess what, Ocho? He said, you know what? I did it at Indiana. Then I went to Cincinnati, did it there. Then I went to Texas Tech, did it there. So basically, over the course of three years, 3 ,000 bets per year. At least 40 involving his teams.

16:37Chad Johnson:Hey, I know some of his damn receivers. Like, I knew that mofo would – I knew he was out there throwing them games.

16:47That's crazy.

16:48Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, like I said, I mean, Chad, look, I understand. We've all – nobody's perfect. nobody is perfect and I'm not asking this young man to be perfect because we've all been in situations through the course I'm almost 58 I'm a week away a little over a week away from being 58 I've made my fair share of mistakes it's hard to say I've made 9 ,000 of them though I could be Joe I could be let's just say for the sake of argument I might have made 9 ,000 I ain't made 9 ,000 of the same damn mistake Right.

17:23Chad Johnson:Hey, that's because hell, if they ain't caught you, okay, Ocho, you gonna keep going, bro. Oh, you not stopping. Yeah, you ain't stopping. That ain't nothing you can stop, especially that fast, quick money like that, because it sounds like he penny pinching. Hell, 9 ,000 bets just for 90 ,000.

17:38Shannon Sharpe:You're probably, you know, a prop here, $40 here,$20 there. It add up now.

17:44Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. But 9 ,000 bets, Ocho. Hey, that's a lot. That's a lot. 90 ,000? Come on, man.

17:51Shannon Sharpe:In a statement, the Texas board chair, Cody Campbell, said Texas Tech will not seek the return of any money paid to Brandon Soresby through NIL agreements with the university. So he made$3,$4 million. So what's the deterrent? Hold on. He was double dipping. Yes. He was on the NIL, and he was betting money and saying, you know what? Hey, I'm getting$40 ,000,$50 ,000,$70 ,000,$100 ,000 a month. Let's see if your boy can go ahead and get me. See what I'm saying, Ocho? He jumped over a stack of money to pick up pennies. Hey. Damn. 9 ,000?

18:32Chad Johnson:9 ,000 bets, bro.

Read the full transcript

18:34Shannon Sharpe:That's a lot of bets. Like I said, look, some of them are probably$5, you know,$10, you know what I'm saying. Hey, the problem, Ocho, you know, hey. Small bets. Huh? Small bets. Yeah, small bet. So you get, who gonna win the coin talks? Hey, Ocho Ocho have at least five catches Joe gonna have at least three turnovers He betting stuff like that Damn Hey

19:00Chad Johnson:That's still a lot though Yeah, it's a lot of bets, yeah Yeah, it's a lot of bets, but think about it He probably using his NIL money To be able to make these bets Yes That's why it's so dangerous for a lot of these young cats Who getting paid in college Ocho, because y 'all know all these dudes ain't going to make it pro, bro. Oh, yeah. You're right. Even some of the upper echelon ones who making a lot of money, there don't mean it's going to make it pro, bro. Right. Because guess what?

19:28Shannon Sharpe:That's why you get that kind of money. You get that kind of money, Joe. You get an eight, a nine,$10 million. Man, look here. After taxes, let's just say you pay everything. Because you do realize, Ocho, the difference is that NIL, the agent, he gets 20 % of that. Yeah. It ain't like an NBA or NFL agent where they get 3 % to 5%.

19:47Chad Johnson:They get 20%. They getting taken advantage of. Yes! Just keep it 100%. Just keep it 100%, bro. Excuse me, Chad. They getting taken advantage of. And I just think, I think, you know, a lot of these cats, bro, just like Soresby, double dipping, trying to funnel other ventures, but they getting paid so much money on that old Joe. You know what I mean? A lot of these cats running into money they ain't never had in a lifetime,

20:12Shannon Sharpe:especially nor their parents yeah man hold on jeremiah smith he makes four and a half million dollars that's basically 380 000 a month a little more damn come on you know what's funny too hey boy he worth every penny joe yeah yeah yeah no question But you understand, Ocho, a guy, his family ain't never seen that type of bread. Yeah. A month? Ocho, we was in the NFL for years, and it was years. Hell, it was basically, I was in year 11 or 12 before I got that kind of money. He got 19.

20:56Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.

20:57Shannon Sharpe:He's about to got 19. That's crazy. 19, 250, dude, your boy, good a month. Man, what? Hey, 250, dude, your boy, real good. Hello. Man, I remember Big Mac with like$1.75.

21:12Chad Johnson:It was cheap, bro.

21:13Shannon Sharpe:Super-sized fries, super-sized drink, apple pie. Man, you eat good at McDonald's for$6.

21:18Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

21:21Shannon Sharpe:Man, these kids don't eat McDonald's no more. They going to Ruth Chris. They going to Mastro's. They going to State 48. Man. They eat that same elbows. Hey, you talking about my kids. Hey, hey. Especially my older daughters. That's them all day.

21:36Chad Johnson:Uber eats beer high as giraffe hoo-ha. Yeah!

21:41Shannon Sharpe:Uber eats, man I don't know what we had to say I'll buy if you fly. You know what I'm saying? I'll pay for it you go get it. Now, hey what you want man? I'm about to Uber eat something. I'm about to grow up. Man! I definitely think this is the right decision. and it's going to be hard. I mean, because if you're in the NFL, because like you said, you got to do your research, okay? If we got, okay, here's the Browns GM. Andrew Barry was asked about Sorensbury on 92.3, the fan, and he said he deserves grace. Here's Barry's full quote. I think there are two things there. I asked two questions because everybody who's on this call or listening to this show, I'm sure everyone has made mistakes.

22:30Shannon Sharpe:I really asked two questions. Number one, is this a bad person or did they make a bad decision? And then the second piece, okay, what are they doing after the fact to correct the behavior? Is this a pattern of decision making? If so, have they done something to stop the pattern? And is this an isolated incident? Because the reality of it is we're all going to screw up. Sometimes certainly mistakes are greater in magnitude than others. But I think the most important thing is Brendan's case is what he does from here. Obviously, it is a great first step to get the help that he needs, but then it's like, what is around him?

23:08Shannon Sharpe:What is he doing to make sure he can maintain healthy habits from there? I think probably within society, so to speak, where we all can stand to use a little bit more grace. Todd Munkin, this is what he had to say. I think that's a slippery slope when you go down that irrespective of talent, right? In terms of a situation he's himself in, we all know what that is. He put himself in that situation. And we've seen other sports where players have been banned for life for playing in professional sports. I think that's a slippery slope to go down that road. Again, that is a question for Andrew and for management.

23:45Shannon Sharpe:But from my end, kind of a tough angle to go down that road and think, that's going to be your franchise quarterback. Absolutely. 26:54Chad Johnson:That's what I was thinking. It's like, damn, you going to let him into the professional world? I mean, obviously, he's still in the professional world in college. But you're going to let him to the NFL with this background? Like if I'm the owner of a team, bro, that's, you know, I'm like, hold on now. That's a red flag for me. You feel me? Yeah, it's a red flag too. and Ankinjo, the only type of players that are actually giving grace, especially grace of this magnitude when you admit to making mistakes, are players that come in and change the trajectory of your franchise immediately. It depends on them.

27:27Is he that type of player? Is he that type of quarterback that's going to come in and immediately change the trajectory of your franchise for the next 10 years to 15 years? Yeah, then they give those type of players grace. They just do. You know, the goalposts move depending on who it is.

27:44Shannon Sharpe:You're right. Production and tolerance. Yeah. Production is here. Tolerance is here. Yeah. Production is here. Tolerance got to be here. Tolerance will never be higher than production. It can't be.

27:57Chad Johnson:Right.

27:59Shannon Sharpe:Production and tolerance. They go together.

28:07Shannon Sharpe:Man, this. I think it's just the fact of what he did. That's what I'm saying, yeah. Look, like I said, we all made mistakes. We're not perfect. Nobody is perfect. I made my share of mistakes. But the thing I can honestly say is that, did I learn my lesson from said mistake? And that's the question we're going to have to ask. He made 9 ,000 mistakes. He knows he's not supposed to bet on games. He knows that. even we talked about a couple of years ago guys were going through intermediaries guys in the NFL was betting hey homeboy go bet this go bet that bro you making millions of dollars what is it about $500 yeah we bet our homeboy but I ain't I'm not trying to bet I'm not trying to win no money like that yes sir I didn't even talk to my homeboy hey man what you think about this bro because all I know somehow you're going to get jammed up and you're gonna say, hey man, Sharp told me such and such was hurt.

29:10Shannon Sharpe:Shit, so I figured he was hurt, they wasn't gonna be able to cover y 'all, nah, hell nah. Nope.

29:16Chad Johnson:Hey, hey man, listen. Some people just love to gamble, bro. Right. There are people like that. I'm sure y 'all came up with, I know some people like. It's a high. Yeah, like it don't matter how much money they got or don't got. They willing to spend it all, you feel me? They willing to gamble whatever it is they got. so it's that rush it's that adrenaline rush hey uncle joe i don't see nothing about no adrenaline rush or no high when it come to losing money huh especially betting somewhere i'm not in control of the outcome i don't understand it well he controlled it oh huh he controlled the outcome i mean for probably for the game that he better i mean yes betting on other things i don't see how people do it you know i understand you i understand you saying there's a high it's an adrenaline rush but losing what I have I can't do it.

30:05Shannon Sharpe:But that's what an addiction does you lose all self control whether you drink whether you shop, whether it's women it doesn't matter whether you speed that's what an addiction does, it takes over your body, it takes over your mind and you feel you're in control even though you're not that's what an addiction is Hey I got a question like my love for cigars and smoking two or three a day is that an addiction? Can you stop?

30:35Chad Johnson:If I need to, yes.

30:36Shannon Sharpe:You can't stop. I guarantee you can't go a week without smoking a cigar.

30:40Chad Johnson:Right.

30:41Shannon Sharpe:Okay. You can't. You can't go when I get your macchiato, latte or macchiato, whatever the case is. Whatever it is. Yeah, my tall camera macchiato from Starbucks. Yes.

30:55Chad Johnson:yes yeah hey hey ocho and you need you need that cigar smoke you need it in there in your gums in your lungs if you don't have it bro you're gonna go crazy yes hey that's a great question because it's something i never had to do because it hasn't affected me as far as far as playing concern now that i'm retired and not playing i'm still asking but i that's that you drink a red bull every night when last time you did not have a red bull

31:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but you know what? No, I'm not saying all addiction, but an addiction is something that you cannot control. Now, sometimes we look at addiction where they're smoking and obviously, like Andrew, there are varying degrees some addictions are bad, where you losing your family, you lose the house, you lose the car, you lose your kids' tuition. You lose your job. Some people can function, Some people can be an alcoholic and function. Right. And some people, they just go over the deep end. You've heard the term, he's a functioning alcoholic. He's a functioning drunk.

32:06Shannon Sharpe:Hey, I've had teammates. They're going to have that sauce in them, come to practice.

32:13Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No doubt about it.

32:16Shannon Sharpe:They showing up.

32:16Chad Johnson:No doubt about it. No doubt about it. Oh, Ocho - Friday, Saturday, just expect it. Yes, sir. Hey.

32:23Shannon Sharpe:Hey, bro, just going in the shower. Hey, just trying to get some of that out, go to the sauna. You know, go, you know what I'm saying, Ocho, you go try to sweat some of that out, bro. Bro, you smell like, hey, you smell like somebody just pro lick on top of your head.

32:34Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, Ocho, we had a dude on the team. They would clean this mini bar out. He wouldn't even have a mini bar when we got on the road. So he'll come to my room. Hey, J, man, let me get a little bit of this about your mini bar. Yeah, he come hit everybody minibar, bruh. They wouldn't even have a minibar in his room. Real talk. Yeah. Real talk. Hold on. Basketball player, Joe? Yeah, basketball player. I ain't going to say his name. That my man's. But I had betted him one time. I bet him like$1 ,000. I bet$1 ,000, bruh, if you go a week without drinking, boy, you'll be cold. Hey, hey, Ocho. Yeah.

33:10Chad Johnson:He about three, four days in, he was playing like ass trash. You hear me? Yeah. Yeah.

33:16Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, see, I'm about to say,

33:18Chad Johnson:I mean, he played something terrible. Hey, he said, Joe, I can't do it, bro. I can't do it, I can't do it.

33:26Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I'm about to say, hey, I had, hey, they had to do that. They had, I had teammates, they gotta go out.

33:34Chad Johnson:Yeah, got to.

33:35Shannon Sharpe:They got to go out. They gotta go out Monday night, they gotta go out Tuesday night, they gotta go out Wednesday night, they gotta go out Thursday night, they gotta go out Friday. They got to, Ocho.

33:43Chad Johnson:So if they don't, they ain't the same, bro.

33:46Shannon Sharpe:They're not the same. You know what's funny? Is you might be right about it being an addiction. I don't know. I think it's more of a vice in general, more of an acquired taste, especially for me and cigars. But remember when I was sick? Yes. And I had that deep voice? I think that cold or that whatever it was, it was extended because I refused to stop smoking.

34:07Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm going to test myself. I'm gonna test myself. I'm gonna test myself. Hey, hey, hey, hey. I'm gonna test myself. Hey, it don't make you no bad brother or nothing, man. You still a good dude. You know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, yeah. But everybody got a vice, Ocho.

34:21Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. I mean, some people, hey, mine is the opposite of nice. You know, hey. What's yours? Man, you already know what mine is. I'm cleaning it up. You know, I'm seeking help. I'm in counseling. OCD, OCD. That's one. What's the other one? You know.

34:41Chad Johnson:You know. Yeah.

34:47Chad Johnson:Yeah.

34:48Shannon Sharpe:Earn me loose. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

34:54Shannon Sharpe:Hey. That's, hey, that's why I stay to myself. I stay home. I don't go out. I don't go to the mall. I don't go to no play. Hey. Damn. You know, we at the airport or some way. Hey. I just keep walking. Jordan, you know, tried to distract me. Yeah. I pulled it out here. Jordan, I didn't see that. Why you know what I was talking about?

35:15Chad Johnson:I don't know. Right. But I just said I didn't see it. Yeah, Jordan said she dragging a wagon. Yeah. Yeah.

35:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. But no, it's – you know, look. I just – I don't think – I don't really think the – I don't think Texas Tech had any choice because they were teams like, I ain't playing you.

35:35Chad Johnson:Right.

35:36Shannon Sharpe:I ain't playing you. Yeah. Hey, Texas to court. Hey, think about it. And the Texas Attorney General said we're going to sue y 'all if y 'all don't play Texas Tech. Let that sink in. Let that say nah, bro. Now they got to find a quarterback. Yeah.

35:58Chad Johnson:Yeah. Was he really like that? For college, he...

36:04Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. hold on they went they went to they made the college football playoff last year yeah yeah

36:09Chad Johnson:for college ocho he probably he probably gonna dominate in college for real like he i think he would have been a hell of a you know quarterback wherever he played at but yeah yeah

36:20Shannon Sharpe:yeah i mean he got i mean they were looking at maybe a potential first round pick oh okay yeah he liked that so and now you get a better understanding on why they ruled the way they did because of that yeah that's crazy so you know i mean don't you gotta you i mean you addicted to sparks too joe jenna got hooked on them yeah yeah i got my problem is i'm starting

36:47Chad Johnson:to take two instead of one i'm trying i'm trying to see i'm trying to see why i had to put my business out there like that oh my bad you know what joe flip you know what joe you right you right joe i'll take that back i'm sorry hey joe is cool joe we family joe yeah yeah yeah okay all right all right yeah yeah yeah i'm sorry joe i'm sorry joe it's all right

37:07Shannon Sharpe:you know what i'm saying hey joe out there thinking he was in year six mommy here okay okay let me know where y 'all doing the thing i'm gonna come i'm gonna come out there yeah oh man hey hey oh joe out there thinking hey hey hey just get out the way hey hello hello

37:26Chad Johnson:One bow flat.

37:27Shannon Sharpe:Yes sir.

37:29Chad Johnson:Yes sir. Hey Joe. I got this one. Hey, Uncle Joe. What's up? Hey, speaking of Joe doing one on one, I seen Bam, me and Bam was sitting together in the same suite at night. You know I had to ask him that question. What? What'd you ask him? Hey Bam, well listen, if we would play one on one, you know I'm already for the whoop Joe ass. If we play one on one, what you think you'd do? Man, Bam say the same thing you said Joe. Man, I'll whoop your ass. Well, you won't scold nothing. Hey, I seen him a few times. Man, I was standing on my tippy toes in the picture. Man, the man still way, I'm like, well, God damn.

38:07Shannon Sharpe:You don't realize how tall they are until you get up on them. Until you see them in person. I'm like, yeah. Yeah. Jesus.

38:13Chad Johnson:Damn serious, bro.

38:15Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but you know, I'm trying to wean myself off them things.

38:20Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. It's all right, man. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. They don't make you no bad brother neither. It don't, it don't. You're good too. Hey, wait, hold on, hold on. So that mean you addicted to him?

38:29Shannon Sharpe:I ain't addicted to him, but all I tell you like this here, boy, when I get one of my sister, I'll be standing like a Walmart greeter all day long. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, hey, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, champ.

38:42Chad Johnson:Hey, Ocho, you know he wanna put on a mean demonstration now. Guess up, guess up. Yeah. Guess up. Hey, first impressions are lasting impressions now. Yeah. Yeah. Think of that? Huh? Come on now. Mm-hmm. Yeah. That get him to come back very easy. Yeah, baby. That's like, man. They be like, hold on.

39:04Shannon Sharpe:Are you sure you this age?

39:07Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

39:08Shannon Sharpe:I mean, that was, hey, sometimes I gotta look at my driver's license. I mean, what the hell, cause I just put down a mean demonstration. Ain't no way out this age. Hey, where y 'all shout out?

39:22Shannon Sharpe:yeah hey chat yeah i'm just saying you know every once in a while i'm gonna throw things in there because i think about getting on stage get me a little five you know showing up laugh factory somewhere and get me a little five minutes in oh yeah yeah yeah yeah i'm giving a little something i like that you got your material together all that you know you know a little something i put little stuff together little bits and pieces okay i've been working on over the course of

39:41Chad Johnson:you know years yeah yeah yeah yeah all right you know you gotta try it in front of a smaller crowd first when you're going to laugh. That's what I'm saying. Look, look, you know,

39:49Shannon Sharpe:some little, little, all beat night where they got like 25, 30 people up in there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you got, you got to get, but I got the chat right here. So, you know, if the chat be laughing, I'm like, okay, I got some little pretty good material. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. That's how I do.

40:06Shannon Sharpe:I like that. Hey, speaking of sparks, two days after the Knicks claimed their first NBA title in 53 years, Mikael Bridges confirmed on a James Dolan issued a 10 weeks no sex man prior to the team big win. 10 weeks? Damn. Hold on. I mean, I heard you hear Ocho, you know the fight game and Joe you've heard fighters they go away and no sex and they want to build that testosterone. It's 10 weeks?

40:30Chad Johnson:Yeah. You know damn well none of them boys listen to that shit. NBA players? You don't think so Ocho? The majority, hold on. The majority of them guys on the Knicks though, they married.

40:47Chad Johnson:I ain't got nothing to say. Y 'all ain't got nothing to say. Y 'all don't think them do? Y 'all don't think they... I do. Yeah. 43:57Shannon Sharpe:10 weeks is a long time, though.

43:59Chad Johnson:Yeah, it is. It is, especially when you're used to going like, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When you go harder to paint? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And all of a sudden you say, hey, bad, please. Yeah, see, I know that's hard for you on Ochoa, y 'all thinking like, hey, about every two, three days, I need to make this thing throw up. You know what I'm saying? Every two or three days? I'm talking about every two or three hours. What the hell you talking about? What you talking about? Hey, you know what? Hey, Joe, I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm not as active as I used to be, you know? And I'm one, once, every two weeks, maybe.

44:35Yeah. Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm gonna be honest. We family, I can talk to y 'all. I know I play around a lot, but you can tell by my voice and my delivery, I'm not joking. Like once every two weeks, sometimes maybe twice in two weeks. I don't know why. Maybe because I'm on the go so much. Yeah. And wifey, she don't live with you, do she? No, she often, it feels like she's with me. you know okay you know okay yeah all right look here as i've gotten older they're saying you know

45:08Shannon Sharpe:i don't have the same level of appetite right i don't you know i don't work out like i want to but that there hey hey you know you thinking because i'm older now i don't know what your problem is that got nothing to do with me on show you need to figure that out you need to talk to somebody about that i know i'm just i'm just thinking how it was hey hey joe i'm thinking about how I was in my 20s and 30s.

45:33Chad Johnson:Yeah. As opposed to how I am now, where it's like, you know, most of the time I initiate stuff, but when it does happen, she has to be the one to initiate everything. I don't own it. I think age catching up to me, boy. You think so? A little bit. A little bit. I think so.

45:52Shannon Sharpe:Don't get me wrong, but I guess I can afford to tamper it back.

45:55Chad Johnson:Right. You know what I'm saying?

45:57Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I mean, let's just say, Usain Bolt's still fast. Yeah. He ain't what he once was, but he still fast. Right.

46:05Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah, I get your drift. I get it. I get it. I get it. It might be something wrong with me, boy. I don't know. Nah, ain't nothing wrong with me. You probably just on the go a lot. Got a lot going on. You know what I mean? You already know you can't be still. You know what I mean?

46:20Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Hey. Catch me on the right day. Hey. Hercules. Hercules. These hurt the thieves.

46:33Shannon Sharpe:They didn't do the right thing. Nah, it's a... Nah, I mean, look. Look, man, you know, Ocho, look. Good times don't owe either of us anything. You know, I think the thing is that when you know what, you know, being professional athletes and having, you're like, it's not the same, but you know once you sit I might not even be hungry but once you sit at the table I'm gonna eat I'm gonna eat a belly full yeah

47:05Chad Johnson:yeah yeah yeah

47:12Shannon Sharpe:you know hey let me get some of the mashed potatoes let me get some of them Hawaiian rolls you know hey I'll take a slice of ham yeah let me get some turkey Oh, I take a oxtail.

47:27Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

47:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You got cornbread too? I take a slice of cornbread. Yeah.

47:32Chad Johnson:Little bit of this, little bit of that. Yeah, yeah.

47:34Shannon Sharpe:There you go. Yeah, yeah.

47:40Shannon Sharpe:But I don't know what is wrong with you, Ocho. I don't know. Baby, you know what? Maybe your testosterone level is low. You might need to go get your testosterone levels checked. Hey, y 'all told me to take them supplements. Ain't none of them supplements help with that?

47:51Chad Johnson:Oh no, this what's going on. I'm starting to put two and two together. See, you eat a lot of McDonald's. So it lowers your testosterone level to wipe it out. It lowers your testosterone level because you ain't getting the proper proteins that you need in your body. Magnesium, sodium. Ain't no way you getting out. Hey look, you ain't getting the right fibers in your body. Yeah man, you need to get right homeboy.

48:16Shannon Sharpe:And plus Ocho, you gotta realize you were an athlete. and so you had to build that testosterone and plus your adrenal level so you had that fight or flight think about how many times you had that fight or flight yeah you just burn through that yeah yeah boy your thing you're dead probably at zero now with y 'all damn y 'all sound like i ain't I got no hope. You got hope now, I'm just saying.

48:50Chad Johnson:It's still time. Hey Joe, y 'all supposed to send me the supplements to take, man, that provide all the magnesium and stuff.

48:57Shannon Sharpe:Oh, now we supposed to. But your eating habits, you cannot exercise a bad diet. In a situation like that, the question is yours.

49:05Chad Johnson:Yeah, I mean.

49:07Shannon Sharpe:What do you want to do, Ocho? You want to be like, I'm not saying it's gonna cut, I mean, but it'll be better than what it is. Do you want your levels to come back to what they were? are close to what they were. Obviously, once you hit 30, your testosterone level stopped to dip. Hey, what Doug Flutie and Frank Thomas taking that commercial? No, that's what it's about, ain't it? That's, you gotta be careful with that. You gotta make sure you gotta do blood work, you gotta get all that stuff taken care of because, you know, black people, black men, especially black men, have a high rate of prostate cancer.

49:44Shannon Sharpe:So you gotta to be careful.

49:47Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, you gotta slow down on them glizzes. Yeah, you gotta slow down, bro. Hey, I had two at the arm. See what I'm talking about? Yeah, at the stadium. See what I'm talking about? Hey, man making fun of me eating my hot dogs, but you ain't gonna dress it up or nothing? Oh, no. Hey, hey, they making fun of me because I'm eating my hot dogs playing. I mean, condiments cost. I ain't paying for that too. Oh, man, man.

50:11Shannon Sharpe:So guess what? If prescribed new sexual health patients get 15 their first order of sparks on a reoccurring plan connect with a provider at ro.co slash nightcap to find out if prescription rose sparks are right for you oh joe you gotta change your diet bro because as you get older you can't you because as a young man you produce bounds and bounds of testosterone yep yeah once you hit 30 yeah that's why you gotta change something bro and i'm i'm gonna hit 50. that's why you can't lose weight like you once could that's why you can't cut up like you once could because your body don't produce the testosterone that it once did.

50:47Shannon Sharpe:That's why it's easy for a man to get in shape that a woman because a man has higher testosterone levels. It'll produce estrogen. That's why it's easy for a man. That's why you hear women say, man, you done dropped 10, 15 pounds in a month, two months. It'd take me a year to do you lose that. You have big muscles. Big muscles require energy. Energy burns fat. Ain't the doctor, the doctor could describe some testosterone pills for your boy now. You would have to get blood work. Yeah, I could do that. You know, I like needles.

51:24Chad Johnson:Hey, but you gotta clean up your eating habits, bro. Okay, I could, McDonald's once a week, man. I won't do it like three, three, four times a week. I could do that. Yeah. Yeah, but I gotta work.

51:39Shannon Sharpe:I mean, if you want to come back, if you want to put down a ring demonstration like three, four times a week, like you once could? Yeah.

51:48Shannon Sharpe:Okay, okay. Mean demonstration, Ocho. Okay.

51:51Chad Johnson:Yeah, he ain't ready to make that change. No, yo, okay, you ain't ready to make that commitment, Ocho. I can tell, I can tell, I can tell.

51:57Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I see the hesitation. I see the hesitation. Hold on, hey, listen, I'm willing to do anything to improve my life, you know, anything, you know? Yeah. I mean, you know, that one time every two weeks, that's a demonstration in itself.

52:14Chad Johnson:Yeah, okay. You know what? I kind of embarrassed myself in New York, I kind of embarrassed myself in New York. What happened, man? About 50 seconds to a minute, boy. A dud. A whole dud. 50 seconds? Too excited. Yeah, it was rough, boy. Too damn excited. Premature. It was ugly, boy. Hey, Ocho, it don't make you no bad brother, man. We oughta had one of them. Hey, Joe, honestly -

52:43Shannon Sharpe:No, I have, yeah, I have now. I mean, I was much younger. Yeah. I had, you know, that's why you gotta control your breathing. Yeah, yeah. I be thinking about something else. I mean, I be like, aw man, that's an elephant. That's a tree. I can't be thinking about what I'm thinking. Man, please. Yeah. It was tough, boy. It was sad.

53:05Chad Johnson:you know i mean ain't nothing you can say man just right now i tried to make an excuse i was like damn yeah yeah yeah just roll over take a nap bro and she she held me tight though she

53:18Shannon Sharpe:held me tight oh man you already know hey joe you already know it's a bad time when she started just

53:24Chad Johnson:kissing oh baby it's okay yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah i was i was a little discouraged but just for her to hold me and you know rub my head and stuff man it's gonna be all right so yeah

53:39Shannon Sharpe:she rubbing your back like you a child like your mama your grandma used to do your back it's okay baby yeah damn you ain't you ain't bounce back you ain't that's what the tester i'm coming at

53:50Chad Johnson:i ain't oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh you you couldn't catch your second wind nah i ain't had no nod yeah Yeah, it was rough, boy. It was rough.

53:59Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man. Dang. See? You know back in the day, you used to pull a double or a triple? Triple? You used to pull a triple shield. Triple? With no problem. Hey, with no problem at all. Yeah. Now look at you. Now look at you. Take down. Pulling a double shield. Ask you to work overtime. You're like, we're overtime? I done work two days straight as it is.

54:24Chad Johnson:Out there fighting for your life.

54:25Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

54:26Chad Johnson:Yeah.

54:28Shannon Sharpe:Mm-mm-mm. Hard but it's fair, sad but it's true. Better you than me though, Joe. Yeah, no, yeah, it's all good. Don't make fun of me now. I don't make no fun of you. Look, it could happen at any given moment. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

54:42Chad Johnson:it's gonna happen to plenty of people in the chat, I'm sure, bro, they can relate.

54:45Shannon Sharpe:They can relate. Yeah, but not at my big age, Joe. It's gonna happen at my big age. Just be glad it's still working, Joe. Hello, hello. You right, you right. You right, you right. Cause I, hey, it gonna be a time, ain't no time soon, where they ain't gonna be able to do nothing but look at old mama.

55:03Chad Johnson:Oh man, don't say it.

55:06Shannon Sharpe:Well I get them two popsicle sticks in a rubber band. You done put them popsicle sticks together, that rubber band. That's all I got for you mama. I'm gonna keep it wet now. That's all I got. I'm sorry.

55:19Chad Johnson:Yeah, oh man. Hey, you got them old people,

55:22Shannon Sharpe:you see them on the porch, Joe and Ocho just rocking. Rockin' back and forth. Ooh, baby, you remember? Yeah. I sure do. Now that's just a figment of my imagination. Damn. I'ma bounce back though, man. But I'm saying, go to the doctor, get your blood work done, let him see where your levels are. Hey, they got something to help you out.

55:44Chad Johnson:Yeah.

55:44Shannon Sharpe:But the problem is, Ocho, once you go to the doctor and he get your levels back up, boy.

55:52Chad Johnson:It's gonna be hard to tame, Emmanuel.

55:55Shannon Sharpe:It's gonna be hard to turn it off. Hey, she got insurance now. She got insurance. Yeah. Well, Cambodia see that wheelchair up in the corner. Tell me what you got a wheelchair for? Tomorrow you'll find out.

56:14Shannon Sharpe:Damn, man. Oh, man. man it's just just reminiscence how how old Cambodia Jo uh 38 39 okay so she like seven eight years younger than you I know Joe your people hey and then you know hey well please yeah what what what what you get that sweet spot by 35 to 45 yeah yeah man you talking I'm talking about they thinking the wheelchair rubber.

56:48Shannon Sharpe:And you know the wheelchair got the whole face rubber. Yeah.

56:55Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, go on to the doctor. Yeah. Get your blood work done. Yeah, I got you, I got you. You'll be all right. I got you. You'll be all right. I do, I got you. Just go ahead and tell her beforehand, because she's gonna be like, Well, you ain't never performed like this before. Yeah. I mean, no, no. They know, you know, in the beginning, you know, when you first meet. Yeah, yeah. Oh, hey, boy. This ain't no first meet. This when you 22. This when you a teenager.

57:22Chad Johnson:Yeah. Ocho. You know, I can sum it up, you know, on the first time. Ocho. Yeah. She gonna look back at you and say, what?

57:31Shannon Sharpe:What is wrong with you? Yeah. Come on now. Come on now. Yeah. Hey, Ocho, like your boy, they all in the closet looking up on the bed. Tell me, who helped you? Ain't no way. Ain't no way you did this by yourself. That is just me. So just go ahead and say, hey, I'm getting my levels checked out, make sure everything's okay, X, Y, and Z.

57:56Chad Johnson:Yeah. Mean demonstration, Ocho.

58:01Shannon Sharpe:Hey, your best year, what you have, 1 ,600? that's a 1900 receiving yard season that's what you about to put down 115 catches 1900 yards 16 touchdowns I like that I need to get back to that I like that

58:24Shannon Sharpe:there's a lot of discourse about the Spurs not shaking hands with the Knicks after a loss Robert Ory Chapman said people get mad at athletes when they don't shake hands when you go back and you start the 2000 back nobody shake hands we didn't care we just lost and we don't talk about i don't want to talk to you so when people are like that's just not sportsmanship i'm mad i just got my ass whipped and i'm not trying to be friends with nobody who kicked my ass so i don't understand the people never played sports get so upset oh he didn't shake hands i just lost i don't want to talk to you right now i know a situation a guy got left off the olympic dream team because he didn't do what joey no cho shake hands oh my goodness and everybody you see how they do you see how they move that gold blows oh yeah oh they they they gonna move it now they gonna they gonna move it every time depending on who everybody said because every time hold on every time michael jordan lost he shook hands yeah when the celtic kicked his ass they swept him every time when the pistons beat his ass he shook the hand and everybody's like oh my goodness i love how y 'all pick and choose mama mentality in Jordan until it comes time to look when you lose yeah oh but you want to talk oh but you want to talk you you ready to be in somebody's face when you win yeah absolutely oh so you die you want to kiki key all I'm saying is this nobody likes to lose when athletes you we're very very competitive that's kind of what makes us how we're wired and kind of what makes us who we are right but I can't get behind this I can't get behind this I can't right so So you don't like them not shaking hands?

1:00:02My thing is that when you win, do you shake hands?

1:00:05Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they do. Yes. Okay. So you're all about winning. So you're supposed to win all the time. Right. So what about the team that when you win, they come shake your hand? Right. I got you. You know, it's just like I said, I just know people I remember and I saw in the last dance and everybody talked about it. and I guess as long as you – they killed Isaiah. Yeah. They killed Isaiah. And y 'all know damn well it kept him out the dream team. John Stockton is a phenomenal player. John Stockton wasn't better than Isaiah. At the time of the selection, Isaiah was a two-time champ and he was a finals MVP.

1:00:52Damn.

1:00:53Shannon Sharpe:He led his team. Isaiah was at one point in time the best player on that team. John Stockton was never the best player on his team. Karl Malone was. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, at that point, Unc, it's all about sportsmanship. You know, we learn at AAU, you know, when you're young, regardless of what sport you play, win, lose, or draw, you always shake your opponent's hands. Always.

1:01:18Chad Johnson:Hey, but when you look at it, with their young Spurs team who was very emotional. Yeah. Yes. I think, you know, they took this series to heart. I think it was personal for those guys. And with them being so young, bro, you know, I just think they took the emotion to be like the hell with it. And y 'all finna celebrate on our home floor too? You could have stopped that.

1:01:43Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You could have stopped them from celebrating. You're right. You could have. I used to tell people all the time when I was on CBS I said y 'all don't want T.O. dancing in y 'all end zone keep him out of it

1:01:56Chad Johnson:you don't want him doing your dance

1:01:58Shannon Sharpe:you don't want him doing what he doing you don't want him standing up on the star you never see T.O. celebrate until he get his ass in the end zone well you let him in there look this way to anybody cause I got to be I got to be gracious in victory and in defeat because you're not going to win every game. You're not. And, you know, now, guys, you see guys going, it's 10 minutes left in the game, and they get blown out. They go dap everybody up because they up out of there. Soon as the game over, they gone.

1:02:35Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:02:36Shannon Sharpe:And I guess that's where I say, look, man, I ain't want to stick around. I just want to go and give them their love. You know what? I shouldn't get upset. It's a different time now. And, Shannon, you just got to accept it. These guys don't look at things the way you do. They don't see things the way you do, and they're not going to move how you move. I just have to accept that. And you know what, guys, tonight, don't shake hands. Y 'all do what y 'all do.

1:03:00Chad Johnson:You think you'll give a damn they shake hands or not? Nah. I don't. I really don't. Yeah, yeah. It's a respect thing, though. Like, you know, when you respect your opponent, bro, after you come out of hard fall series, regardless of the fact that you feel like you probably really, you really do feel like you should've won the series. Right.

1:03:18Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:03:19Chad Johnson:But, you know, showing respect is part of the game, bro. It's part of the game, I'll go with you.

1:03:25Shannon Sharpe:So what about women not talking? We okay with that too? Well, I just lost the game, I don't wanna talk. He didn't talk again? No, I'm just saying, I don't know if he didn't talk again, but I'm saying he did it that one time. Oh, that one time. So my thing is, so what? When I win, I'll talk and I'll shake your hand. But if I lose, I don't wanna talk and I'm not gonna shake your hand. So is that where we are now?

1:03:48Chad Johnson:Yeah, basically. That's what they let them get away with. I mean, we just got to keep it 100 now.

1:03:55Shannon Sharpe:So what about that Jordan mentality? What is it about they love Jordan so much? Everybody talk about Jordan. Yeah. What did he do? I mean, maybe there was a time, and you know what? I wish I had known this because I would have looked it up and see had Jordan ever dipped out on an interview, had he ever lost a series and didn't shake the guy's hand. every time he shook, he shook Boston's hand when they whipped his ass. Yeah. Milwaukee when they whipped his ass. The Pistons when they whipped his ass. As a matter of fact, Isaiah wasn't the first one to do it. Go back and look at the Celtics. When Isaiah done beat them and they left the court.

1:04:32Shannon Sharpe:But see, y 'all don't want to talk about that. Y 'all don't want to have a real conversation. But I'm old enough to remember.

1:04:36Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We're going to have a real conversation because all he did was go get better after he got his ass whooped. I'm going to go get better and I'm going to come back better. and that's what he did each and every year.

1:04:46Shannon Sharpe:That's all you got to do. But he understood that was a part of it. No matter what you think about him, good. And I think he's phenomenal. He's one of the two, for me, one of the two best players. I got Bron first, but hey, if you got Jordan first, I ain't debating you anymore. That's your thing because you're not moving. This Jordan-LeBron debate is just like a President Trump debate. Those guys that voted for him, you can't move them.

1:05:09Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:05:10Shannon Sharpe:So stop trying. If you look at the deal that he tore up and he just signed, he's giving them more money than President Obama gave him. But that's all right. We did that from a position of strength. Who cares if I got strength or not? You didn't lose no lives, and you didn't have to help rebuild their country and give them$20 billion. But anyway, that's neither here nor there. In this situation, like I said, I'm cool with it. Not joke. I just understand it's a different era. It's a different time. These guys don't see things. Guys pick and choose what parts of a guy they like, and what they don't, they disregard it.

1:05:45Shannon Sharpe:So they love Jordan's game and the branding and everything he did, but they don't look at that part that when he lost, he still shook the hand.

1:05:52Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. But I think it's got a lot to do with a lot of these teams, too, Uncle Ocho, holding these players accountable, too.

1:06:02Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. No. Yeah.

1:06:07Chad Johnson:Yeah, because as professionals, bro, we have obligations whether we know it or not. Of course you do. Yeah, and talking to the media is one of them. Absolutely is. Win or lose.

1:06:18Shannon Sharpe:Win, lose, or drive. You think I want to – I mean, look, and y 'all know I love to talk. But, man, we got out there and got beat, and I know we played like some slaw. Hey, guys, they beat us. We played bad. But I don't want to say it's just all us. There had to be a reason why we were playing bad. Right. Because we didn't practice like this, and we thought we had a great game plan coming in. They were the better team. Yeah. They better. Well, what could you have done differently? Probably like block, tackle, run the football. Other than that, nothing. What the hell you want me to tell you? But I just understood it was a part of the game.

1:06:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. It is.

1:06:59Chad Johnson:And it's hard when you lose. It is. You know why it's hard when you lose? Because it's hard to critique yourself. It's hard. Because guess what? after a good game when the media running there and you know they running there to get a good sound bite from you. It's the same damn way when you play like horse crap. They going to run in there still because they still want a sound bite from you. Yes. It's hard for players to be like, man, I was trash tonight, bro. You rarely hear that. It's some guys who will take accountability, and those are guys that we love and we enjoy hearing from because you know they going to get better.

1:07:35Chad Johnson:They going to come back better. But it's part of – But you notice what, Joe?

1:07:38Shannon Sharpe:What's that? When a guy play good, he don't ever say, let me look at the tape and see what I did good. It's only when he play bad, he's talking about it's hard to tell right now, but I have to go back and check. You notice that, Ocho? Yeah. When a guy play good, you look at a quarterback go throw for 400, a receiver catch for 200, running back rush for 150, a couple of touchdowns, he don't ever say, well, whatever. You know what? I need to go back and look at the tape.

1:08:01Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:08:02Shannon Sharpe:Let them lose. What they say? Every player say I need to look – every coach, every player, I need to look at the tape, it's hard for me to say right now.

1:08:08Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, they trying to save a little criticism. They don't want to have to criticize, man, our quarterback wasn't hitting on nothing tonight. That's what happened, you know what I'm saying?

1:08:18Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man. Yeah, but I get, like I said, Ocho, Joe, it's just a different era, it's just a different time now.

1:08:26Chad Johnson:Yeah. And you just gotta accept it.

1:08:33Shannon Sharpe:The sportsmanship is what we were taught, how we, I remember, you know, Pop Boyd, we used to lose Ocho, and guess what? We getting a single foul line, don't we? Hey, straight down. Shake, shake. Shake everybody hands. I remember them days.

1:08:49Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, and then coach, make you get in line, even if you don't want to shake hands. Oh, you gonna shake hands after this game. Line up on that 50, everybody. Yep.
