In short

The hosts recap the Chargers’ 37-10 win over the Vikings (Herbert 18/25, 227 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT; 43 rushing attempts; Vikings struggle on third downs and didn’t punt), then pivot to NBA/FBI gambling arrests involving Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier, plus broader discussion of point-shaving, insider injury info, and mafia involvement.

Guests

No guest appears in the provided transcript segment. The hosts are Shannon Sharpe (“favorite uncle, Shannon Sharp”) and Chad Johnson (“Ocho Cinco Johnson”).

Guest backgrounds (if any)

Not applicable—no additional guests are introduced in the transcript.

Key claims

The Chargers dominated because Minnesota couldn’t get off the field (9/13 third downs for LAC; no punts). In the FBI case (Operation Royal Flush), Billups is accused of participating in a rigged poker game using technology to see marked cards; Rozier is accused of using inside info to bet on prop outcomes (including allegedly taking himself out early vs. the Pelicans). Damon Jones is also named as arrested for selling Lakers game info.

Notable examples

Khalil Mack’s pass rush impact; Rozier playing under 10 minutes; alleged x-ray/marked-card poker rigging; LeBron injury-scratch info allegedly sold before it was public.

5:23Shannon Sharpe:hello ladies and gentlemen and thank you for joining us for another episode of nightcap as you watch the charges take apart the minnesota vikings by the score of 37 to 10 justin herbert was 18 of 25, 227, three touchdowns, one interception. Vidal had 23 rushes, 117 yards. Herbert had seven carries for 62 yards. So 43 rush attempts, over 200 yards. Obviously, Ladd McConkie had a touchdown. Orlando Gasson II had a touchdown. And Harris had a touchdown. So three touchdowns there. Y 'all know who I am. I'm your favorite uncle, Shannon Sharp. And that is my partner and co-host. He's Liberty City's own.

Excuse me. Byron Young. He currently leads the NFL in sacks with nine. He and Brian Burns are tied leading the league in sacks. He joins us a little later, but first Ocho, the Chargers beat the Vikings. It really wasn't close. As we look at the team stats, I think the Chargers might've had 30 for, oh, they had 29 first down.

7:54Shannon Sharpe:The other team had 12. 9 of 13 on third downs that's why you see the score lopsided because that means they didn't get off the field as a matter of fact they didn't punt they didn't punt the football if a team doesn't punt the football there's a good chance you're going to get ran through absolutely 39 minutes time of possession 419 total yards to 164 everything there were 3 for 4 in the red zone both teams had one turnover

8:29Shannon Sharpe:It was bad. It was bad on Minnesota's part. Hey, listen, this game is representation. If you looked in a dictionary and you look for belt the ass, they would have an example of the Chargers versus the goddamn Vikings. Wentz, listen, he didn't play bad. I don't know what's wrong with J.J. McCarthy. I turned off news altogether. I hate to say it, but I don't trust much of anything. It's the rage bait. It feels like it's trying to divide people. 10:47Shannon Sharpe:Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here from Mint Mobile. Well, now, I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for$15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made$15 bills. But it turns out that's very illegal. So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash switch. Upfront payment of$45 for three months,$90 for six months, or$180 for 12-month plan required. $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. Initial plan term only. Greater than 50 gigabytes may slow when network is busy. See terms. They say he's hurt.

11:19I don't think he's hurt. I think they're regretting the fact that they let Sam Darnold go. And, I mean, Carson Wentz, he had a bad game, 15 for 27, 144. They tried to get Justin.

11:31Shannon Sharpe:I think he got sacked five times too, Ojo. He got sacked five times. They tried to get Justin Jefferson going. He had seven for 74. But when you can't run the ball and a team makes you one-dimensional and all they got to do is pin their ears back and come and get you, that's why he was sacked five times. The Chargers needed this win too. They needed this win to get the bad taste out their mouth after losing last week to the goddamn Colts, who had been on fire all season long outside of one game. So, I mean, Justin Herbert looked good. Running game. They couldn't stop the running game. Well, they couldn't stop anything.

12:05Shannon Sharpe:Hey, when you can't stop the running game. You can only do two things. You can either run the football or throw it. You need to be able to stop one. Because if you can't stop either. Either one of them. Yeah, that's why the game looked like this. Obviously, they were very efficient on third downs. And this is what you get. You get 37 points. You said they didn't punt tonight, huh? They didn't. Well, God damn. Yeah. Back to the draw board. Well, this is what Indy did to them last week. Yes. Put belt to ass. And so it was only on a short week. Let's get that taste out of our mouth. We're in our building.

12:38Shannon Sharpe:We don't want what happened last week to happen again this week. Right. The one thing, look, Jim Harbaugh, his teams normally are ready. They're prepared. They're a well-coached team. They got a lot of talent. The Chargers got talent. They really have talent. And now they get the pass rush. What's his name? From the Raiders and the Bears, and now he's in the Chargers. Khalil Mack. Khalil Mack. Now you get him back collapsing the side of the pocket. Oh, yeah. yeah man whoo-wee yep so with the bike the bike pyramid you got henley in the middle you got two fast linebackers that can chase side to side yeah you're not going to have a whole lot of time to throw the football they got a nice rotation they can get they can hunt your quarterback now if you can't hold up against the if you can't hold up against the rush you're not going to be able to beat this team no you're not going to be able to beat them you got you've got to hold up against their rush i believe you there's some there's some things look i understand derwin James is back in the secondary, but I'm not like, oh, you can't throw on them, but you have to be able to hold up because they don't have to cover a long time.

13:52Shannon Sharpe:Because their front seven is really good. Offensively, you got Keenan Allen, you got Ladd McConkie, you got Gasson II, you got guys that can make plays. Johnson, you got guys that can really, really make plays. Justin Herbert, look, the Miami Dolphins fans are kicking them like, man, we could have had that, Yes, you could have. Yes, sir. But your owner, this is not Brian Flores. This is your owner. He wanted Tua. Yeah. Tank for, hey, you remember the signs on Tua? Tank for Tua. Tua, yeah. Now both of y 'all tanked empty. His and y 'alls. Mm-hmm. The Chargers look really good. They're 5-3. They're tied with the Broncos right now.

14:35Shannon Sharpe:Obviously, the Broncos have a tough matchup. Is that game Sunday night or is that a Sunday game? The Cowboys at the Broncos. They might. They need to flex it. If it's not a 4 o 'clock at night game, I don't think you can flex the first half. It's the second half you can flex. I think you kind of lock me in. Okay, okay. That's a good one. And I don't think that's a CBS game. I don't think CBS is going to go. Look, they only get the Cowboys maybe once, twice a year if it's a Thanksgiving game and CBS have the late game, you know, the 4.30 game. so they ain't really trying to give the Cowboys up now Fox we normally get them at 4 o 'clock a 420 game we normally get them 7, 8, 9 times a year so you take one okay we cool CBS like no no but look Minnesota I agree with you Ocho but here's the thing and we were talking Ash and I were talking about what the 49ers did see it was easy for the 49ers because they put the competition up and rock pretty beat out trey lance yes sir jj mccarthy was going to be the starter he got hurt so we a top 10 pick and we got a guy so are we so so what are we going to do we it's going to take at least 30 million dollars to sign sam donald and we still got a top 10 pick that we really believe in minnesota if you ask them they're saying considering the way sam donald has played wait played last year and where he's played wait the way he's playing now now yeah they say we want him we would take him over sam don't we take him over uh carson wins and jj mccarthy absolutely but unfortunately you got to make a decision you got to make a decision are you really are you really trying to bring sam donald back on a three-year 100 million dollar deal and you've got a guy that you took it with the top 10 pick on your bench because you hold on i i mean i i'd rather i'd rather not guess i'd rather go with what i know i'm getting as opposed to i'm unsure but we picked him at a certain slot and we basically started over so it's a toss-up because you never know what you're gonna get i really think i i mean honestly i don't know what type of injury it may be but i think he's healthy and they just don't want to go back to him they want carson wins They want him to sit there and learn for another year on the sideline.

17:04Shannon Sharpe:Well, if that's the case, you should have signed Sam Darnold. I mean. But here's the thing, Ocho. Okay. Let's just say for the sake of argument, what you're saying is correct. He sits two years. He plays his third year. You're going to have to do like Jordan Love. You're going to have to make a$50 million investment. Oh, yeah. Are you going to be comfortable making that decision? Because Jordan Love really put the pressure on him considering the way he played in that third year. Yes. so J.J. McCarthy would have had to put the pressure on him I mean that's hindsight that's a magnificent science now but that's a tough that's tough when you select a quarterback so high you get a guy and he's playing really well and you don't want to take him out now it was easy for Sam Darnold to keep playing because J.J.

17:50Shannon Sharpe:McCarthy was done for the year it would have been interesting to see had he not gotten hurt I believe J.J. McCarthy was going to start I think they had Sam Donnell as an insurance as a backup as an insurance policy if something you know if he struggled Ocho we ain't got no problem we got a veteran guy we bring him in but he got hurt so early I honestly take the truth with the way Sam Donnell played last year with the way he's playing this year I'm not sure J.J. McCarthy would have beat him out I agree I agree I agree I mean, listen, I don't know. They saw something we didn't see because he mainly ran the football.

18:32Shannon Sharpe:They were mainly a running team under Harbaugh. So for them to be so that, okay, he can throw the football. And look, I saw what he did against the Bears open tonight. He played well. He came out in the second half and he played extremely well. But I agree with you. I think they really wanted Carson Wentz to play well and keep the job. But unfortunately, his offensive line is not doing very well. He makes his mind up. Man, they tried to throw a wheel route to Jones. The shallow cross came scot-ass free. Yeah, scot-free, yeah. Because you see what happens when that happens, and you miss throws like that, Ocho?

19:09Shannon Sharpe:You've made your mind up. When you broke the huddle, I'm throwing this wheel route. No matter what. And what you should have done, if I catch that Mike Backer, who has to run with the wheel, if I catch him napping, I'm going to throw the wheel. Otherwise, I'm going to go through the progression. I don't know who it was. I don't know if it was Addison, but I think they ended up getting a touchdown anyway. He ran the shallow. He was wide-ass open. Yeah. He was basically streaking. I mean, they don't do that anymore like they used to in the 70s and 80s. It was a big thing, you know, streaking at sporting events.

19:37Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. But I don't get it. I don't get it. I thought Minnesota kind of revamped the offensive line. Khalil Mack took the left tackle one time and just shot him and wince his lap. They were just like, I mean, every time I turned around, they were like, oh, they was pressure him he's running he's you know he gets flustered and then his head is down and he's not looking down the field yeah he was frustrated i mean he let it be let his emotion get the best of mommy obviously you're showing you're showing passion you're frustrated you're getting hit you're hurting your elbow messed up and you're getting sacked i mean five times so he allowed his frustration to show on the sideline and i'm listening they're gonna be all right you know brian flores and that defense obviously they didn't look the par tonight but they're not going to look like this every game.

20:21They're not going to look like this every game. They're back to the drawing board and we know what a Brian Flores defense can do just tonight wasn't their night. Hell, listen, the charges get paid too.

20:32Shannon Sharpe:Well, we got to get some help, Ocho. Can the offense, can you stay on the field? Yeah. Because if you go after they score, if you kick the ball off and you go three and out and put us right back on the field, what the hell do you expect to happen? Right. We need you to take a little, hey, give us a break. Hey, offense, hold on to the ball a little bit. Let us get some water. Hey, as soon as I – Defense, you up. You're up. We just came out. I just got over here. Yeah. So we'll see where it's going because that – you got Detroit in that division and you got Green Bay. And Chicago don't look like no slouch.

21:11Shannon Sharpe:And Chicago is already beating you. Yeah, they balling now. Bears balling. So when you look at it, Ocho, and you look at what – what they did last year, what they were 14 and three. And right now they're three and four. So they're not winning. They're not winning, you know, nine straight games, 10 straight games. They're not winning 10 games. They're going 13 and four. So I'm sure Minnesota fans like, man, we should have just, we should have just went ahead and kept Sam Darnold. And plus Ocho, 30, a three year, a hundred million dollar deal. That's manageable. That's, I didn't have to give him 40 or 50.

21:49but that's that's a that's a a family discount what you talking about yes it is

21:58uh so it's gonna uh i mean vikings vikings beat the bears the bears were winning the bears were

22:07Shannon Sharpe:winning in the first half and then jj mccarthy had that outstanding second half um but the bear the Bears are a different team than when the Vikings face them opening day. I think we can all agree to that. Look, that's a division game, NFC North, Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago, and Minnesota. They play each other. They're very familiar with each other. But Chicago is a different team now. That's not the team that y 'all played opening night. And we know what Detroit is. Detroit is Detroit. And once they start getting their guys back healthy, it's only going to get – Look, offensive, they're healthy.

22:42Shannon Sharpe:It's when they start getting those defensive guys back. Right. The Kirby Joseph, the Arnold. When they start with the Brian Branch, he'll be back. He had a suspension. Once they start getting those guys back. Green Bay is Green Bay. If y 'all couldn't keep the charges off y 'all ass, good luck. Keeping Micah and Rashawn Gary and those guys off you. Good luck with that. Good luck.

26:49Shannon Sharpe:A very long time, Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier were arrested by the FBI and separate gambling pros this morning. Billups' arrest is related to an illegal poker game tied to the Mafia, according to ABC News. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Tied to the who? The Mafia. If Red Collect, the Bonanno, the Genovese, the Columbia, the Columbia, Columbo, and the Lucchesis. Ooh. But anyway, assistant coach Tiago Splitter would take over for Billups as Portland new interim coach. Rozier is accused of being part of a gambling ring that used inside information to make illegal wages.

27:30Shannon Sharpe:According to ABC, Rozier and Billups are just two of the names arrested in a wide-ranging pro called Operation Royal Flush. They need to stop. That started four years ago. Two indictments have 34 defendants listed. The indictment alleges that Rozier told associates he was going to take himself out of games during the first quarter on March 23rd of 2023 against the Pelicans so others could bet the underprop bets. This information was sold to others so they could also profit. There was 259 ,000 that was wagered on Rozier by a group of people with inside information according to the indictment. Rozier played under 10 minutes in the game.

28:14Shannon Sharpe:Billups took part in a rigged poker game. In Manhattan, according to the FBI, how do you rig a poker game? Well, Ocho, according, they had x-ray machines built in the tables. So when you lay the cards face down, I can see what your whole cards are. Wait a minute. Now I can play. Contact lenses through glass that read marked cards. So you know, oh, that's an A's. That's a this. That's a that. Secret cameras in card trades. Bill is also alleged to have provided insider information on the trailblazer injury while team was tanking at the end of 2023 season. former nba player damon jones was also arrested jones sold information on the lakers game so others could bet on it according to the indictment jones is a close friend of lebron james who did not play in the game in question the lakers were named in the investigation during the press conference each defendant in the nba gambling case has been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

29:21Shannon Sharpe:Hey, man, this is big. This is huge. It's ginormous. Listen, this is like an episode of Law and Order. You hear me? For one, okay, I understand the gambling part. But what grabs me, what grabs my attention is the fact that the mafia is still prevalent in today's society. What do you think they win? It's New York! Oh, listen, I know they never went nowhere, right? but they're never visible their presence as opposed to the 70s 80s that's what the real mob does they're not flashy yeah yeah yeah but they have they have reputable businesses yes they have trucking and they have cement companies and they have delivery services so they have legitimate businesses to hide behind the other things see and people ask why do this is why the nfl and the nba puts out all injury reports okay so therefore because if they didn't put it out, and guess what?

30:18Shannon Sharpe:People know I can get parts of that information. And what it looked like that what happened in the Damon Jones situation, he gave them the information before it came out. So they bet before everybody else knew LeBron James was a scratch. They had already got the money. So now the line is going to come down, but they already got in on the other. It's just – oh, let me tell you a story. Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. Let me get comfortable now because your stories be good. This is why I stopped going. We used to have the same thing. We had to play craps. Yeah. Every Monday night, we would go. At first, it was just guys on the team and a former player that everybody knew.

31:01Shannon Sharpe:I knew him a long time. Yes, sir. And so we would go over there. We would roll dice. Everybody amongst friends, you know, we lend somebody money. The thing was, I wouldn't lend you money so you can bet against me. What I look like giving you$1 ,000 and then you're going to fade me. Right, right, right, right. You're going to fade me with my own money? No, that's not going to happen. But anyway. Okay. They started letting other people come in. Uh-oh. Strangers. Other people came in. Because we didn't care. Hey, at first, we used to have like 10 packs of dice. And sometimes, hey, you get hot on the dice.

31:38Shannon Sharpe:You keep the dice for like five, ten minutes. Hey, you put the dice in your pocket. So, hey, man, these are my special dice. I don't want nobody else to touch these. Right, right, right. Well, lo and behold, they let other people, they start letting other people come in. I'm like, but who is you? Man, I know such and such. Oh, Lord. Move out for this. Hold on. Don't tell me they came in there with some damn trick dice, huh? Man, they came in there with them crooks, which are loaded dice. and the thing was Ocho the hardest points on the dice to hit is 10 and 4 because there's only two ways you can make it.

32:11Shannon Sharpe:You can make it 5-5 or you can make it 6-4. The same thing with 4. You get 3-1 or you get 2-2. You get flowers or you get little Joe Kokomo. So that's it. Man that Joker throw them dice it rolled 10. So you know everybody go jump on that 10 you ain't finna hit that 10 10 or 8 I'm going to tell you something I don't know Chad if y 'all ever gambled before but if you want to break up a dice game hit 10 or 4 I done saw cars done exchange hands I done saw a lot of ish happen with that 10 or 4 but anyway he came out he hit 10 so you know everybody jump on it you know I jump on it with both feet too you ain't finna hit that so he took a cool 200 200 off me you know yeah yeah damn let me come back let me come back he rolled a four oh back to back he rolled a 10 he kicked the 10.

33:09Shannon Sharpe:the end was hitting it out the door so i say what the so i i only go i only go over there with like 2 ,000 2 ,500 right right right Right. The dice game up here for about 30. 30 what? 30, 30. You got to realize it's like 15, 20 of us in there. We all NFL players. So we all got bread or guys would go to the ATM and get money and come back. Oh, hey, hey, y 'all should know something was up, man. Ocho didn't know. So. I told my homeboy Burns, he had gone out of town because at the time, Michelle was in Virginia so bye week you know another bye week but he would go home so he would leave that Monday go home stay Monday night come back Tuesday because a lot of times we didn't have pray we win we didn't have we didn't have no meeting we have anything just get back with right right right as a matter of fact he was catching the red I get home early Monday morning but anyway I told him I said man Brandon you ain't gonna believe this I said dude broke the game up he said what he said what he was hitting I said dude We had a dude named Reggie, Reggie Hayward.

34:23Shannon Sharpe:He broke the game up. He had the dice for like an hour. I ain't never seen nobody get that hot, but it was legit. He had the dice for an hour. Every point on the dice, he hit. He was seven out the door. You hit eight. Lodge eight. That four, five? Hey, he was talking about born in 54, died in 63. What's my point? Nine. Yeah, yeah. I hit it. Yeah, yeah. What Jesse James carried? 45. Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam. I ain't got a joke. Hey, hey. He rolled four. Emmitt Smith, voila, out the door. Stayed on the dice for an hour. I see Burns, old boy, tenfold, had the dice just like that. The next week, the guy house that he was at, he was rolling the dice.

35:13Shannon Sharpe:Had two grand out there. Everybody had it. He crapped out. He picked the dice up and threw them. They split open. Uh-oh. Now you can see where the weight was.

35:34Shannon Sharpe:So I don't hear about this until the next, so this was on Monday. They start calling me, man, Sharp, you ain't gonna believe this. I say, what? Man, boy had crooks. I say, he had to weigh the dice? like yeah man what you think we should do i said i don't know what y 'all gonna do i ain't gonna do nothing because i'm gonna go to jail so i said look i'm done from that point on i said i'm done i told birds if you want to go he's like you ain't going i ain't going right but anyway and i started i look boy look here i started to get the dude that vouched for him and i knew him but we've been cool. You vouch for him.

36:16Shannon Sharpe:You vouch for him. You got the cover. But anyway, dude done brought a brand new Maximal, kitted it out. Hey, new gear. That's what stopped me from doing the house game. First of all, it's got to be like us. It's got to be us. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I ain't talking about no homeboy. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Ocho. Your homeboy your homeboy can't play right everybody me you xyz we nfl play a boo i believe we're gonna be on the up and up but somebody come to the game they know it they know it's money gonna be there yeah gonna come in and cheat yeah card game the same thing that's what happened with the online poker yeah guys so had had the online poker he had he had the uh uh uh you know it's a uh what they call it but anyway he's he he they could see your cards right so he's crazy technology so advanced listen the part that scared me y 'all i understand chauncey in trouble i understand damon jones in trouble i understand terry roger for one i'm not risking it i'm not risking the position that i'm in i mean you don't believe you're risking it huh think about it a lot of this stuff happened in 23 it's 25 Ocho what criminal you know make a score and say I'm done I quit you can't but you understand when the FBI get a hold of you the FBI they watch you they don't let it run they gotta wait till they get you Ocho I can't get you with one charge cause you a first timer you gonna get off I gotta get you deep I gotta make sure the hook is set you gotta build up you gotta set the hook because if you don't sit it right a big one gonna get away oh yeah absolutely but this is the part that scared me though right like understanding understanding okay i understand the gambling part it's the part about being part of the mafia being entangled into it man that's a no-no for me right there off back um i done seen the sopranos yeah yes i done seen goodfellas i know it's a depiction of a fictional story maybe, but that's real life.

38:29I'm thinking about extortment. I'm thinking about once you tied into them, man, that's you. Now you got to point shave.

38:35Shannon Sharpe:Now you got to feed them information. What I hate most, look, and I know, listen, I know Chauncey Billups since he was in high school. He went to G-Dub in Denver, Colorado, which was about a mile from where I was staying. I used to stay in the breakers. Anybody from Denver know exactly where the breakers are on Mississippi and where G-Dub is. There's a car wash. It used to be a Sterling car wash right across the street. Chauncey Billings went to G-Dub. He was sensational. Sensational. Three-time Mr. Basketball, Allstate, Allstate. So we get that. And so I feel bad for Chauncey. And I hope, I hope this is what they suggest.

39:15Shannon Sharpe:But my thing is, and I hope this is just. but damon jones do everybody knows what lebron goes through to try to make sure he has no stain no because what did they put in the paper they put lebron james this man has done everything he possibly could to keep his nose clean yeah to make sure he doesn't have the people look maverick he grew up with rich he met at a very young age randy he grew up with So he insulated himself. LeBron don't have a whole lot of close friends. You see him, you can always see Randy. Randy's his chief of staff. Rich is his agent. Obviously, Maverick handles all the other business inquiries.

40:02Shannon Sharpe:You put this man on the spot. Because it's a legend that you sold information that LeBron is not going to play before it became public knowledge. Hmm. And they say they have a text message or something between the two. I just hate. I just hate. And obviously the funny thing about that, LeBron doesn't know. I mean, them exchanging messages, him letting them know, that's like me texting, we finna play the Raiders, but I'm not playing. Like that's no harm, no foul on LeBron's part because he had no idea what's going on. Exactly. Yeah, so, but the one thing, and what I was talking about, about them dealing with the mafia, understanding these people, these people have no regard for life.

40:45No. Once you're in business with them, that means you got the old ways. Once they got them hooks in you. I need all the answers. I need who's playing, who's coming out, what's the scoreline going to be, and what happens when you get it wrong? What happens when you mess up? What happens when you place a bet and you give them certain information and it doesn't come out the way it should and they lose money?

41:07Shannon Sharpe:Well, all of a sudden you say he's not going to play, then all of a sudden he plays. He'll game time and he'll end up playing. Hold on. What about this? once you end with them like that, what about, you know what, I don't want to do this no more. I don't want to be part of it. I don't want to do it no more. And it's reported that he got$2 ,500. So on a $50 ,000 bet, I think it was a$50 ,000 bet. Wasn't it a$50 ,000 bet? How much was it? It was over $100 ,000. They gave you$2 ,500. Hold on. They didn't even give you 10%. They gave you 2%. what the hell i would do with that two two hey oh joe yeah if it's two billion i'll take 10 i'll take two percent but not no damn 100 000 no absolutely not i just uh absolutely not hey hey i'm listen i i understand the gambling part right and the gambling part to me because i i've been in that lifestyle i don't gamble y 'all know my cheap ass no gamble i'm saying i've just been in that world for so long and seen so many people gamble the past 30 years, the part that has me stunned and is amazed is, boy, you're dealing with the mafia.

42:19I think people just like letting it go and they... Hell. No, they real. Damon Jones, Chauncey, and goddamn Terry Rozier is the only one that's on the goddamn news. Well, where's everybody else? What are the other 30 people? They ain't no names. I got to get the big name.

42:37Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, let me ask you a question. When the last time you see somebody post a fish that was this big? They post the trophy fish. Yeah. They are the trophies. Yeah. So now you lose your job. You lose your career. But you know they still going to be making any money, huh? Oh, yeah. You know it's not going to stop. Absolutely not. Bro, look here. And I used to gamble. I did. I mean, I used to come to Vegas and gamble. I gambled on the plane. We used to play Tunk, and we used to play in between. Pots get up to$5 ,000,$10 ,000,$20 ,000,$30 ,000. American money? Yes. Man, y 'all tripping, man. Man, look, I took a call for a guy.

43:29Shannon Sharpe:I felt bad for him because I know if he had to go home, he's going to get a divorce. he had he uh had a resto uh chevelle 454 right black beautiful you took the pink slip i said man give me give me three grand call of the day y 'all were betting card pink slips hey he gotta be got no and that's what happens hold on there was a story i hear about a dude named uh i think his name was jeffrey wantanabe lost 204 million dollars lost his family fortune read it go read about it oh 200 go read about it hey chat what's no his name was i think his name was terrence wantanabe hey chat somebody send that to my uh my instagrams or on my twitter please i got i got to read that oh how do you lose did you see the movie the gambler yes yes like i didn't know people had issues like that where they're addicted to gambling.

44:34Shannon Sharpe:Gambling? Yeah. Alcohol? Drugs? Yes. It's an addiction. It's endorphins. It's a rush. How do you lose$250 ,000? You go to the shark and ask for more money. Oh, hold on. Read that a lot. Say what it was, Ash.

44:53$240 ,000. $240 ,000 ,000?

44:56Shannon Sharpe:Yes. At what point do you say stop? At what point do you say no?

45:03I lose$20 I'm going to lose my mind yeah he was up

45:11Shannon Sharpe:but see here's the thing Ocho same thing there was a guy named Arnie at the Binion he was up 50 million lost it all back he had every$5 ,000 chip that was in the hotel the hotel used to have the casino used to have to come to his room and get the chips because he had them all he lost it all you know what I don't understand I just I can't grasp the concept I understand gambling listen I really can't talk now because I just started I just started playing a little blackjack myself every time I go to Vegas I don't go to Vegas often but I go to the blackjack table you know how much I spend um I take $200 out of ATM I paid a$25 hands yeah when that$200 gone man I'm hurting I'm and it's only$200 and now you you saying these extraordinary numbers how the hell you lose 240 million when you get down you try to get it back because let me tell you how it happens okay I lose 50 hey I lose 50 I'm gonna bet 100 to try to get it back now I'm down 150 so guess what I got to do Ocho I'm gonna bet 200 because I'm gonna get all three I'm gonna get the two hands that I lost and I'm gonna be plus 50 and before you know it now you betting 25 50 100 ,000 a hand.

46:27Shannon Sharpe:So how long will it take you? Because if you go on a rush, you go on a run, you can bet, hey, go back and look. I think it was the MGM. Kerry Packard, what was his daddy name? Packard. He was an Australian billionaire. Go read about what he did to the MGM and how he wrecked their quarterly report. He wrecked it? Yes. When he won, he went on a run? He won, yes. Big time? The lady that was serving him, she was bringing him smoothies or water, whatever it was. Right. Go get your mortgage. I'm going to pay it off for you. Oh, he was talking spicy. He did it. Carrie Packard is... Yeah.

47:26Shannon Sharpe:yes DMGM read about it I know all the stories hey listen gambling gambling is an addiction huh absolutely it is and listen a lot of people say oh stop acting naive see there's certain things that I don't know about there's certain things that I don't know about because it was never it never sparked my interest that's not something that I ain't like soccer I can take my I can talk about boxing I can talk about tennis but gambling? I just started playing blackjack this year.

48:04Shannon Sharpe:Oh yeah, he was a whale. Those are what they call whales. What was the guy that used to be a penthouse? What was the guy on a penthouse? He was in the wheelchair. Oh, um, damn, I forgot his name. I met him one time. He owned Hustler. Damn, I forgot his name. I met him in LA. He passed away. He was a whale. Larry Flint. Yeah, Mr. Flint. That's right. Mr. Flint. But Ocho, the thing is is that, look, I played a couple of hands, you know. Hey, you know, I paid. Hey, hey, hey, how much you would bet? I don't mean to be in your business, but I just - For better context - I'm gonna tell you this story, Ocho.

48:49Shannon Sharpe:We was at the Rio. We was at the Rio. Okay. And it was me, 7, 30, 53, and Crock-Pot. It was us. Yeah. So we was playing. So I had like$25 ,000 only. John was playing. So I had, you know, I've won. And he was playing. So he got a card. He split. So he split them. Then it was another of the same cards. He split that. We had about, he had about six cards that was split. And then he ended up doubling down. We had like 40 ,000 on the table. And the dealer bust. He took all mine. Cause if, if, if, if, if the dealer would have hit all my little 25 ,000 was gone. He's like, give me your money. I'm like, whoa, whoa, hold on.

49:43Shannon Sharpe:He's like, give you my money. What kind of bull job is this? But we won, but it's a, oh, ain't nothing like it. It's nothing like sitting there and you play$5 ,000 or$10 ,000 a hand and then you get blackjack. What gets scary, Ocho, is that when you get a double down hand and you got$5 ,000 or you got$10 ,000 on the wood. Yeah.

50:15Now, when you got a double down hand, you got$10 ,000 on the wood, what that mean? You double your money? You doubled it, so you got to put 10 ,000, 10 more with it. Nah, man.

50:26Shannon Sharpe:Double it. Or you split it. You got to put 10. Guess what happens, Ocho? You get a double down hand. Yeah. You get a split hand. So say you get a pair of eights or a pair of nines against a seven or below. Yeah. You're going to split them. Now you get a two or a three. Now you doubling that. So now that's 20 ,000. Now you get this head, you get a split You get a double, now you double that 20, 20 30, 40, that's 40 ,000 on the wood Yeah, it ain't worth it You hear me? It ain't worth it because I'm thinking about the loss I'm thinking about the loss But you can't think like that, so you can't go to the table Because you can't look at the chips as money You look at them as objects The moment you look at them as money, get up from the table Hey, for one for one, unless you make the kind of revenue and you have disposable income, your ass shouldn't be gambling no way.

51:22Yeah. Unless you have disposable income. I don't care. NFL players, I don't care how much. I don't care if you got a$50,$80 million contract. Your ass shouldn't be at no goddamn crap table or playing backjack or no rotisserie or none of that. Yeah. What's the one going in the circle again? What it's called? That's roulette. I'm talking about rotisserie. I'm talking about roulette.

51:43Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, that's a league. That's a gambling league. But anyway, I know what you meant. And plus, the new thing now is Baccarat. Read the Phil Ivey story. Phil Ivey famous. I know that name. I know. He's a poker player. I know his name. But they went overseas, him and a Chinese lady. Yes, sir. Read about that story. It's good or bad? uh it's bad well he won but they fought because the lady could count cards oh you can see the imperfections but Ocho that gambling man is a dick Ocho why you think people be watching these games you think they really be liking these teams some people do I got fantasy and I got real money you messing up my parlay that's why they call you the n-word that's why they because you suck that's why they say you worse than Hitler Bro, you lost me my money.

52:41Shannon Sharpe:What the...

52:45Hey, if you can't stay and lose your money, you don't bet. You don't bet. Bro, you suck.

52:56Man, I'm telling you, Ocho. Yeah, nah. Hey, that's fascinating. It's fascinating hearing the stories. Yeah. It's fascinating. But I can't put myself in position to put my money where I have no control over whether I win or lose. I don't want to, the house don't let you in. I done heard enough horror stories to stay away from it.

53:19Shannon Sharpe:You got to be able to, see the thing, the reason why the house wins so much, they can weather the storm. Because guess what, Ocho? If you start winning too much, they'll ask you to leave. Okay, that's enough, Mr. Johnson. No, what, what? No, we think you've done enough for tonight. the question is when you win can you get up on your own and leave because they don't usher you when you losing they don't ask you to leave can you ask yourself to leave when you start can you leave when you start to lose this Ocho this is what happens this is what happens

54:05Shannon Sharpe:in the gaming space. Yes. Yeah, I mean... Hey, can you imagine? How do you even... I'm still stuck on the mafia part. Because I understand how that can end. Yes! You're not just putting your life in jeopardy. Yeah, everybody get close to you. They play for keys now. Hey, man, I ain't got... Man, who... What? You know, there's a certain... Excuse me. we speaking of gambling now excuse my lack of knowledge I might be wrong the greatest player the greatest basketball player of all time yes if I'm not mistaken second grade but okay yeah he'll be gambling yes yes he like to play black yes yes now if now you see where I'm going I'm trying not to say it without saying it because you lost someone very close to him but everybody know but the thing is there are a lot of people that lost because they sit next to him and feel they got to gamble as much as him.

55:03Shannon Sharpe:He the logo. He ain't got to play no more basketball. And he's still going to get, you know, 300, 400 million. And he ain't dribbled. When's the last time Michael Jordan dribbled a basketball? No, but see, you don't understand what I'm saying. Didn't he lose somebody closest to him based on, okay, so you get where I'm going with it? Yes. Okay. See, that's what the reports believe that it has something to do with that. Exactly, which is why I don't understand how Chauncey and Damon and Terry would even... You part of who? Gambino who? No, I'm good. I'm good. Renato, Lucchesi, Genevieve. I can't help you with none of that information.

55:38Because in the minute it don't go right and you can't get to me, you're going to the closest thing to me. I don't want that.

55:47Shannon Sharpe:So that's, you know... And reportedly the NBA investigated Terry Rozier in clarity. that's the problem that you got yeah they investigated him last year oh joe we briefly touched on this uh-huh uh-huh and they cleared it now you see why the nfl see that's see that's why you can't do it oh joe because guess what these gaming companies they want to be able to bet with the nfl and mlb so they're gonna turn you in oh yeah absolutely they're gonna turn you in because hold on wait a minute he's just a guy and why are we getting all these props coming in on him and he just oh no

56:34Shannon Sharpe:they'll pull it off the board man please god damn look in situations like this you gotta just take your medicine and I just I hope it's not true I don't really know anybody The FBI does not come and get you until they have enough evidence to convict you. Well, I can hope. Oh, damn. You know, hope the people in the people in hell hope they can get some goddamn ice water. Is it coming? Absolutely not.

57:11Shannon Sharpe:I'm hoping. Well, you know, I'm a hope with you. I just you know Ocho I'm just saying in a situation like this you don't think Ocho you know how we're wired we think we're invincible because think about Ocho this was 2023 when this was going on it's 25 Ocho they done forgot about that oh no they don't forget about nothing now yeah you know Ocho you remember your grandma your mama said boy I'm a My grandma said, boy, I'm going to tear your tail up when you get home. About two, three hours go by. Oh, she done forgot about that. And next day, you know, she's shutting down on you. Wop, wop, wop. Stop.

57:58Shannon Sharpe:So, man, I just, boy, this is, boy, they about to get real, real, real. What, strict? No, but that's the problem. them. That's why you see these fans when their team... What's the first thing they say? Man, you messed up my parlay. You messed up my fantasy. Yeah, yeah. Man, I'm not thinking about your fantasy. I'm thinking about I lost just the game. Yeah, they worry about that money. Damn your fantasy. They worry about that money. That's it. That's messed up, man. And then they don't pull Gilles in it. They talk about Gilles undying people out. I think it was Rachel Nichols that put it out there like, I'm like, well, damn, Rachel.

58:39Shannon Sharpe:I hope you got some concrete, solid evidence.

58:47Yeah, I think Gil addressed it earlier. Earlier today.

58:51Shannon Sharpe:Yes, for illegal poker, illegal gambling. I think the thing is, Ocho, and see, this is what leads people to believe. See, I told you the NBA was rigged. I told you this was rigged. See? Yeah, but see, listen, you can't say the NBA or the NFL is rigged when it's small. I'm talking about a very small percentage very small percentage of people get in trouble like this very very very small you remember that Shohei Ohtani story his interpreter 20 million and some of that was funneled through Resorts World

59:30hey that's a different 20 million Hey But I tell you man I'll tell you one thing my grandma always said My grandma always told me Boy a fool and his money Soon part Shall soon part ways And that shit there I mean excuse me I don't mean to curse It stuck with me through a lifetime Where I understand I can have a little fun But I know where to draw the line I understand there are addictions in the world Whether it be alcohol, whether it be drugs Whether it be gambling I mean whether whether it be horizontal activity you know gambling is one thing I've never done now I'm enjoying and having some fun with it with a$200 limit only blackjack because it's just me and a dealer and the people that sit down with me they can help me understand the game and whether the hit or the state that's it once I lose that$200 you need to learn how to play yourself because

1:00:27Shannon Sharpe:they're like hey would you like to play I say well I ain't going to play with my money if you want to give me some of this house money and let me learn how to play. I'm not learning how to play nothing with my money. I'm going to know when I sit my black ass down, I'm going to know how to play. Especially if you're at the blackjack table and you're playing third base, boy, you mess up everybody hanging. I'm definitely not letting you play third base. Yeah. But, you know, look, we gamble by everything because in the league, it's really not about the money. We bet obscure things. Like I said, I'm going to bet you$5 ,000 in pennies.

1:01:04Shannon Sharpe:I don't want your money. I want your pride. Everybody got money in the league. Some might not have as much as others, but I want you to go to the bank. I want you to go up to the cashier and, hey, take your debit card if you got one. And when that lady asks you, say, what are you going to do with$10 ,000 in dimes? What do you need$12 ,000 in Susan B. Anthony dollars for? You tell them, I lost a bet to Shannon Sharp. That's what I want. I want you to blurt that out. Right. I can eat that. I don't care about no$5 ,000. I want you to take your ass to the bank and tell that cashier that you've got to get$10 ,000 in dimes.

1:01:42Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And y 'all don't know if y 'all know this, but y 'all don't know how heavy coins are when you're getting that amount of money. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Man, come on, sharp man. I don't want it. The bet was$200 in quarters. It wasn't on$200 in bills, so take your ass to the bank. So I ain't taking it. I said, I don't know what that is. I swoop the money out of my locker. I don't want that. Yeah. Man, God. Quarters. Hell no. Susan B. Anthony. I want Susan B. Anthony. I want them sack of juvias. Hey, you know what? I tell you what, give me$1 ,000 sack of juvias, them gold dollar coins. That's what I want.

1:02:22Shannon Sharpe:Man, you know I can't find. I don't know what you can find. Go on a scavenger hunt. Marco Polo.

1:02:32so

1:02:34Shannon Sharpe:that's the bad this is dominated and Gus Ocho is not going to quiet down anytime soon no this is not going to quiet down absolutely not it's not because you have to understand as the headlines already hit today right they're going to give you pieces of the story bit by bit and then this is honestly more people are going to come out for sure More people are going to come out. This is the cornerstone. This is the top piece. This is just to grab your attention. Now, we're going to give you a little bit, little by little. Damn, basketball season just started. Will they decide to wait on, what, opening night?

1:03:15Shannon Sharpe:When you going to get the most attention, Ocho? Opening night. Okay, then. They think they slick. All this is very strategic on their part as well. Yeah. I can't believe they, the mob. I'm still fascinated by that man one mistake I done lost a million dollars because you told me so and so was playing and he ain't played well you need to give me my money back I have a good friend of mine we used to come out here we used to come down to the Fremont which is the old strip everything is on the new strip now but everything used to be Binion's and Golden Nuggets all that's downtown on Fremont Yeah. And to hear those stories talk, I think is.

1:04:05I think it was his uncle, Jack, one of them got killed.

1:04:10Shannon Sharpe:He had had hordes of silver and gold and cash buried in the desert. And. I may or may not have something. I will move on.
