In short
Nightcap Hour 1 mixes NFL recap and debate with NBA discussion. Main NFL focus is Cowboys vs Lions, plus claims about Buffalo WR point-shaving and Bills-related sit-out behavior. NBA segment centers on LeBron James ending a long double-figure scoring streak.
Guests (hosts)
Shannon Sharpe (former NFL Pro Bowler/All-Pro; co-host) and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson (former Bengals Ring of Fame; former Pro Bowler/All-Pro; co-host).
Key claims / notable examples
- Cowboys-Lions: Lions win 44-30. Shannon argues Dallas’ defense regressed (they were “middle of the pack” during a 3-game win streak) and couldn’t stop Jared Goff (25/34, 309 yards, TD) and Detroit’s run game (Jameer Gibbs 3 rushing TDs). CeeDee Lamb leaves after a head hit; Dak is 31/47 with 2 INTs and 5 sacks.
- Micah Parsons criticism: Shannon pushes back on fans/Jerry Jones claims that Micah “isn’t needed,” arguing Parsons demands double-teams and questioning why other defenders didn’t produce (mentions Quinny Williams, Kenny Clark).
- LeBron: Shannon says LeBron’s streak of 297 straight games in double figures ends after he scores 8 (3/17 FG, 0/5 threes) but makes the “right play” by passing to a wide-open corner shooter instead of taking a game-winner.
- Buffalo: Shannon references video/incident claims involving University of Buffalo WR Victor Snow stepping out early while chasing a TD (staring at the jumbotron/parlay), and alleges Buffalo WR “point shaving.” Also mentions Darius Slay refusing to play for the Bills.

There was going to be a playoff run for the Cowboys this year by the score of 44 to 30.
6:33Shannon Sharpe:Jared Goff was 25 or 34, 309 yards and a touchdown. Jameer Gibbs had three Russian touchdowns. David Montgomery had another one and a couple of field goals as they win this thing by the score of 44 to 30. Dak Prescott was 31 of 47, 376, one touchdown, two interceptions. He was sacked five times. They ran the ball 24 times for 91 yards. CeeDee Lamb left the ball game after taking a vicious hit. He went up to catch a pass. His head hit the turf. That was the first thing to hit Ocho, and I knew he wasn't coming back because you saw the rigor mortis, the stiffness of that hand. It was a no-go. Although he possibly wanted to come back, that wasn't going to happen.
7:16Shannon Sharpe:Ryan Fulano came in. He had nine for a buck 15. So again, the Cowboys have two receivers over 100 yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the onslaught that the Detroit Lions put on them tonight. And again, it was their defense that let them down. In the three-game winning streak, Ocho, they were middle of the pack. We know what they were before that winning streak. They were almost at the very bottom. They were 31st in yards allowed and points allowed. They kind of reverted back to what they were in the past, and it caught up with them again tonight. And so the Lions win, keep their playoff hopes alive.
7:48Shannon Sharpe:And damn possible any chance the Cowboys had. Let's see if the Cowboys can win out. There's still a chance. They got four games left. Can they win out and catch the Eagles or somebody else in the playoffs? It remains to be seen. But, Ocho, the Cowboys in order. And I think the Cowboys have a good team. But they got to get some better defensively. They've got to get better defensively. And I was just going to say that defensively, they've been playing good. They've been playing good defensively. But obviously, in games like this, this is one of those games where when they needed it most and they had to have it, where they actually had the opportunity despite having two turnovers.
8:26Obviously, you know, you pay double for those. Despite having two turnovers, you had a chance to come back in the game, but you weren't able to stop them on defense when you actually needed it. And for the Lions, I'm not even giving credit to the goddamn offense. I know the offense scored 44 points a night. I know they scored 44, but that goddamn defense, Muhammad played very, very well. He had three steps on Dak, and I'm not sure what the Cowboys' office was doing, understanding that if you have anything over three-step drop for Dak, you have to chip and help the goddamn tackles out. You got to help the tackles out because in space, one-on-one, they're getting beat every goddamn time.
9:07Shannon Sharpe:It seems like they were doing that with Hutchinson, but they forgot about Muhammad on the other side because if you noticed, Ocho, they were doing a lot of chip, a lot of doubling on Hutchinson, but they were leaving Muhammad's single block. And he made him pay. He made him pay. And that's what he should do. But for me, Ocho, the defense, look, hey, Cowboy fans, I want to know, did Quinny Williams or Kenny Clark, did they play tonight? Because y 'all had a lot to say to me and Ocho a couple weeks ago. Oh, I thought you said this trade wasn't going to help. I thought you said this trade wasn't going to do nothing.
9:41Shannon Sharpe:We don't need Micah. Now I want y 'all to tell me the Cowboy defender that got 12 and a half sacks. I want you to tell me the Cowboy defender that demands a double team. They do realize that Michael Parsons leads in double teams. He's third. He, Miles Garrett, and T.J. Watt are like one, two, three chips. So I want to know what defensive player that you got that commands a double team and you can say, you know what? Hey, he getting double, so that means somebody else is going to eat. Tell me the guy Because I'm looking at the shots I'm looking at all these guys If I didn't know better If I didn't see it with my own eyes I would swear Quinny Williams I would swear Kenny Clark didn't play tonight Y 'all keep Mojo Deron Bland ain't the same Did you see Did you see Gibbs shake him on the sideline Wait wait But you know what You know what happened right there I'm not Yeah I know what happened I'm not taking up for him But you understand right there The sideline is your friend If the sideline is your friend Thank you You know that You come under control And stay to would stay to his inside shoulder why why are you running full speed trying to tackle somebody that you know is shifty and you already know gil's got more moves than a thousand dollar hooker so you know he got i'll show you already know this he shook him so bad oh he shook him so bad he just laid on the ground out of bounds chat y 'all saw it chat if i'm lying if i'm lying lord take me right now y 'all saw what he did pretend like we didn't see it but we saw it Listen, call the rule number one as a defender.
11:10I know, listen, I know I don't play defense, but even I know you got to come to balance. The shiftier the player is, you got to come to balance, you know, and you take away the angle. The sideline is your friend right there for Deron Bland. You don't run in there hauling ass out of control. You're going to lose that every time.
11:29Shannon Sharpe:Ten out of ten. Oh, Joe, you want to talk to the Lions defense? How many times did CeeDee Lamb spin out? you know CD Lamb that's his move you know CD Lamb gonna spin out and come back inside and they overrun it every time yeah I just I think the Cowboys have the look I know you saw this when they kicked that field goal they got mad at George Pickens they took him out on the drive that what you call him Flanoia ended up scoring because Pickens loafed on the route and Dak threw it to him and Dak was looking like what are you doing and that next drive they came and they went down to score in Florida pickings didn't see the field now he has a tendency he's been great thus far he has a tendency to drift coach oh when he doesn't get the ball or things are not going well for him he has a tendency to drift he's been sensational and I if they had won this game tonight without CD and with with pick being somewhat quiet man I'd have had to put that way way on up I had to put I might have put Dak in second place on the MVP.
12:39Shannon Sharpe:Because to do what he did, man, he made Flannoy. Like, hold on. You mean to tell me Flannoy can play like that? Listen, no disrespect to Lannoy, but you know it's easy when you're one-on-one. Once CD went down, you know what the game plan is from that point on. Hey, we're going to shell. We're going to shell. We're going to two. We're going to 55. Goddamn wherever three go. Wherever three go, we're putting two on him. It don't matter. We can play underneath. We can play over top. We got to make sure he's not getting the ball. And I think probably I'm not sure what coverage it was when he did loaf.
13:08But Dak was like, listen, I'm coming to you anyway. I'm coming to you anyway.
13:12Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And right before the half, Ocho, Tesla, he had it. But what you're going to bet already made up his mind that he was throwing his ball out of bounds at the same time. Ocho, he cooked 34. I don't know 34's name. I don't remember, Ocho. But he had it beat so bad. I'm like, bro, how you get beat on, boy, they might have cut you on the sideline. If you gave up a touchdown, Ocho, in four seconds and a half? Yeah. Oh, my goodness. Especially in that situation. It's all about situational awareness. Keep everything in front of you. Keep everything in front of you and make the tap. Nothing cheap.
13:47Shannon Sharpe:Simple. But I don't, Ocho, I don't understand. I mean, when you go on the field, you kind of understand, as an offensive player, okay, do we have timeouts or do we not have timeouts? What's most important? Is an extra three yards more important or preserving the clock? Preserving the clock, obviously, excuse me, is more important because we don't want to burn our timeouts until we absolutely positively have to. So you understand that. So you understand where we are in the field. Where do we need to get? Okay, hey, where do we need to get as far as a field goal? Do we need a touchdown? Because my mind is like, even though we might need to get positioned on the field for a field goal, my mind is touchdown.
14:25Shannon Sharpe:Because I don't want to leave it up because so many things, a miss snap, he hook it, he shank it, It get blocked. So if we put the ball in the end zone, I'm not worried about the kicker unless he's bringing his ass on the field to kick a PAT. As a defensive team, as a defender, Ocho, you've got to understand the situation. Okay, we're up. Nothing cheap, nothing deep. Okay, if they get a first down, we're going to make them get five, six, seven first downs. But what I'm not going to give you is a chunk play. I'm not going to allow you to get what you need is like six first downs. I'm not going to allow you to get four of those in one play.
14:59Shannon Sharpe:I'm not going to let you throw this ball over my plate. I'm keeping everything in front of me. But I don't think enough guys have understanding what they call situational awareness. You've got to play situational football. And not only that, that has to be talked about understanding the situation at hand. Someone has to say something. Someone on the sideline has to communicate that. This is what we're going to do based on the time. And if the coaches don't say it, at least the players got to have some type of situational awareness and situational awareness in knowing what we have to do in this situation.
15:34Shannon Sharpe:Hey, I was always the guy, hey, guys, hey, first down, first down, get out of bounds. We only got one timeout. We got two timeouts. We have no timeouts. Guys, get out of bounds. Don't fight for extra yards because the last thing you want to do, Ocho, is fight for extra yards and then somebody rip it out. Or that clock keep going and you can't say no time. Get your ass out of bounds. At this point in time, the clock is our enemy. The team is not our enemy, the clock, because a lot of times you just run out of time. If we'd had 10 more seconds, if we'd had 20 more seconds, well, let's just make sure the clock remains our friend and we get out of bounds and we can get to stop it every time.
16:08Shannon Sharpe:But look, when I look at the Cowboys, now everything is really contingent on being able to keep CD. But Ocho, they got some issues on defense. They got some issues on defense. They don't rush the passer well enough. They don't. That touchdown that Gibbs got at the end, Ocho, that was too easy. somebody was supposed to feel where the fucking Mike the guard had to pull and lock him up that's the only way if I'm not mistaken I think that was the center that pulled up I think it was the center he shouldn't even be able to make it like that if the center does pull and grab the backer the safety got the field right away but it wasn't nobody over there but 34 so let me get this straight I got a center or a guard and I got Jameer Gibbs with the defender in between me and Gibbs.
16:58Shannon Sharpe:I like that matchup. I like my chances of getting that ball in the end zone. But they got some issues they got to address. Jerry, you can't fool yourself. Yes, you guys had 400-plus yards, but you gave up 400 yards and you gave up 44 points. Had you not blocked the kick, you gave up 47. 47. You gave up 47 points. Hey, you know, they played good the past few weeks, though. The defense has been the talk of the town. Obviously, the offense was playing good, but the defense has been the talk of the town. The defense gave those of the Cowboys fans, it gave us hope. They even gave me hope the way they were looking.
17:41And it's because the team is built to play with the lead. That defense is built when the Cowboys have a lead and they can just pin their ears back and go because now you put the other team in a one-dimensional situation. I have to throw the ball. I can't do nothing else because I got to get myself back in the game. Now, what they were able to do against the Eagles when they were down 21-0, that was phenomenal. In order to be able to come back from 21 down, a three-score deficit, you got to play good defense. You have to. They showed up in that game.
18:18Shannon Sharpe:but the difference is we already know they knew the eagles were going to get conservative the one thing you know about detroit they're not going to get conservative now i thought they got a little conservative on uh they ran the ball twice into the line and then golf dropped back and hit armin rossst brown on the crossing route and you know he almost split it but golf had nine incompletions he really should have had eight because he hit uh armin ross between the one in the board he dropped it I don't know what he was thinking I don't know if I didn't think you go to that fight tight in the tight and flash before him I think they were they was in the wrong place I think it was in the same and it seemed like as soon as Armand Rod got me because you know it's coming cut the back the back is just going to the end he don't really know so as soon as you get by behind that backer the ball is coming and it was almost like the ball surprised him it's like the ball was on his way and when he got behind got from behind the backer you know the funny thing about it i think he saw jmo at his peripheral vision it was like well wait a minute now am i running the wrong route or you run the wrong route and it threw him off and and for the cowboys don't and and i think because the eagles are playing so bad right now i think the cowboys are going to be okay i think the cowboys are going to be okay but they're going to have to win out they're going to they're especially with the schedule that they have left it's winnable.
19:38It's winnable. Especially with the way that offense is playing. It's contingent on how long CeeDee Lamb is out. I'm not sure he's going to have to go to concussion protocol.
19:48Shannon Sharpe:Oh, he's in concussion protocol but they get a week. They play next Thursday. They got the Vikings next Thursday. He got time. He got time. But boy, they're going to be cautious, Ocho. Because, Ocho, you see that that ain't no thing Ocho, I got dinged and you know I was able to get up. Boy, hey, when that brain does that that brain really hit up against that skull they're gonna be extra look i understand and jerry they're gonna want him to go but boy you don't want to be fooling you don't want to be fooling with a concussion like that oh you're right you're right you're right you're right i mean listen but i i knew the moment when i saw the replay and i saw his head the first thing to hit i thought he done he ain't coming definitely he ain't coming back in this one but uh the cowboys Look, the Cowboys offense, they're going to look.
20:35Shannon Sharpe:I like Javante Williams. The offensive line, okay, the tackles a little. That's not the starting left tackle that's normally there. And Steele didn't play bad. I thought he did a pretty good job with the exception of a few plays where Muhammad got through. But, Ocho, they got to get better defensively. They got to. They got to try to find a premium pass rusher. Oh, whoa. It's too late to find anything. No, no, no. I'm saying this. I'm already talking about it. I'm talking about 26. I ain't talking about this year. Hell, ain't nobody they can get. Maybe Trey Hendrickson. Maybe, I mean, he's available.
21:17Shannon Sharpe:I mean, I don't know. Maybe the Steelers are willing to get off T.J. Watt. But they've got to do something. And they still have draft capital. They still have a first-round draft pick. They still have some pieces that they can possibly move. but they got to get better defensively, Ocho, because... I like what you just said right there, too, huh? I like that. Let that marinate a little bit. Cowboys fans, what do you think about that? TJ Watt to the Cowboys. That'd be nice. That's a nice little piece. I'm not sure if that's something that is feasible, because you know you got to pay for that now.
21:52That ain't just no anybody. We talk about a future Hall of Fame.
21:55Shannon Sharpe:Well, they got a first-run draft pick. they got an extra pick from the Packers. So it's still a possibility. So, you know, a draft pick, maybe it takes a first and a fourth. But to get a premium, a guy that you have to account for. Now, Clowney hurt them being out tonight. He had a hamstring injury, and it's reported that he warmed up before the game and he wasn't able to go. Because there have been times that Clowney's been playing really well. Offensively, I think they're good. I really do. I think they're set. I love Ferguson. I like Ferguson when they had Dalton Schultz. And I remember having a conversation with Skip.
22:33Shannon Sharpe:I said, Skip, Ferguson is better than Schultz. Yes, sir. And he proved that to be – now, Schultz is not a bad guy, but he proved that he was – and the Cowboys went with him and gave him a long-term deal. But everything is contingent on George Pickens. It doesn't matter what you do because C.D. is not enough by himself. You put C.D. and Pickens and Ferguson together with Javante Williams, The offensive line is good enough. It's not great, but it's good enough. But, Ocho, I don't care how great your offense is. Without defense, you can't give up 44. You can't give up what they give up. And it is too easy.
23:08Shannon Sharpe:I thought – and I thought Bland, Ocho, Bland been getting work this year. He has. I think they're going to move on from Diggs. I think he wants to move on. I think they want to move on. Maybe a change of scenery will do well for both guys. they need a playmate they need a linebacker a wilson is not the answer murray is not the answer i look i i think the d tackles are good you know i don't know if you're going to keep a ziggy i don't know if you're going to keep all three of them ziggy kenny clark and quinn williams i don't know if you're going to keep all three of them but i think they're very good but you need a guy that can you hey you need a hill race on that age that somebody's got to account for now i'm not saying you got to have a miles garrett but you have to have a tier a tier two guy.
23:51Shannon Sharpe:Miles Garrett is in a tear by himself. Yeah, basically. Basically. But they told me Ocho, I mean, Jared said he didn't need Micah. That's what Jared said. It convinced the fans. The fans even started talking bad about Micah. Most definitely. Obviously, you know, anyone that's a part of that Cowboys organization, anyone that's a loyal fan, they will always see and find the wrong or they'll find the right in agreeing with the owner who owns the team that they support instead of actually using common sense and understanding how great that player is even when things don't go right. Making excuses where he wasn't able to do this.

24:29You know Jerry saying well we weren't able to win with him.
24:35Shannon Sharpe:Quentin Williams had what he had? Four tackles. Where's Kenny Clark? Kenny Clark, Kenny Clark, Kenny Clark, Kenny Clark. Kenny Clark had three tackles.
24:47Shannon Sharpe:But one sack, Ocho. First of all, you already know Ocho, you already know Jared Goff is immobile. You gotta get him off that spot. You can't let him just let his back foot hit and throw it. He gonna pick your ass apart. I think if anybody was gonna get him off his spot if anybody was gonna make him uncomfortable it would have been Young Bull God damn it His hamstring His hamstring Jadavia Clowney was hurt tonight and I don't want to be disrespectful going to say he's their best their best pass rusher but he's been the most consistent maybe not getting sacks at least adding pressure on passing downs where it mattered most yep you're right you're right and uh tonight it it didn't happen and uh look you obviously you you you're going to play extremely hard um but but um this one hurt yeah this one this one hurt ocho this wouldn't really hurt because you really could have put some pressure on the Eagles and a lot of other teams.
25:52In the NFC, yeah, most definitely. How bad do you think it hurt them?
25:56Shannon Sharpe:Being that other... Oh, well, they got a 5 % chance. Let's see. The Eagles... Who do the Eagles got next? How many... The Eagles have eight wins. So, Cowboys, the Cowboys...
26:17Shannon Sharpe:The boys, theoretically, they still can catch the Eagles and win the division. They went out and the Eagles go 2-2. I don't see the Eagles continuing to play bad, though, for some reason. I just don't. I see them, even though we're in week 14, 15, I don't even know what goddamn week we in. I see them turning around and making the plays offensively and defensively when it matters most. Defensively, they didn't look too good last game. They didn't look good too good. But how long is that going to happen? Well, you know once it comes out, right? You know Carter's out. He had procedure on his shoulders.
26:52Yeah. So, that back end is solid, though. Even with Taylor Carter being out, the back end is solid.
27:02Shannon Sharpe:Who the Eagles got next? But, Ocho, I will say this. I don't know if I've ever seen a call what Ferguson got called for. I've never seen that call before on a receiver down the field. The swim through? What is the referee looking at? I don't know. When you change in direction The Eagles have the Chargers on Sunday. And they still have the Commanders again and they have the Giants again, right? They have the Commanders twice. Okay, they got the Commanders twice and they got the Raiders. And the Bills. The Raiders, that's a win. The Chargers is a very good game. You're going to have to put some points up.
27:46You're going to have to put some points up. I don't know.
27:51Shannon Sharpe:And then you got two commanders and the Raiders. I mean, the commanders. And you got the Bills. And the Bills got to fight hard because they're two games, three games right now, behind the Patriots. They lose another game, the likelihood of them winning that division. So they got to fight for a wild card. So they're trying to do everything they possibly can. Like I said, I just, the call that would look, I didn't think the game was officiated too well. I mean, Pitt can't get that. I mean, Pitt, I get you going to get his face, but you got to let it go. Ocho, you got to let it go. Ocho, you out here like this here, you got the man face, man.
28:27Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, everybody can see this. Your arm extended, the man head down. That ain't going to be. Yeah, right. You got to make that quick. Yeah. If anything, open that thing up like this. Yeah. Let it go. Yeah, hey. But he grabbed it. So, but I thought Dak was playing well considering that he lost CeeDee Lamb and he was under duress the entire night. He got out of some stuff because I thought had him dead to ride a few times. But he was able to keep himself alive and make some plays down the field. but defensively you can't give up 44 points. You give up 44. There are not very many games that you're going to win giving up 44 points, especially if your offense turns the ball over twice because that's two possessions.
29:18Shannon Sharpe:That's two possessions that you don't get any points out of. Copenhagen's Spit Free packs American-grown tobacco into pouches made from when your elbow's deep in an engine block. 34:01Shannon Sharpe:So, Ocho, something happened that hadn't happened since January the 6th of 2007. LeBron James did not score double figures. So, after 17 years. 1 ,296 games. 297 game streak is over. He's sitting at eight points. He had the ball in his hands. He had a chance to shoot the game winning shot. If he makes it, he gets 10. If he misses it, it goes into overtime. But what does LeBron do? What LeBron has done his entire career, he always makes the right play. They double AR because AR had it going tonight. He had 44. He had 44. The ball swung. The ball gets to LeBron. He drives the ball. They come. He swings DeRue in the corner and for a wide open shot.
34:55Shannon Sharpe:Now, see, everybody's going to say, hey, good job, good job, good job. But if that was you-know-who, there were two players. They'd have took the shot. But LeBron James has always made the right play. He's gotten criticized by some of the greats, saying, look, I know that's the right play, but in that situation, you being the best player on the court, I want you to take that shot. But that's not how he's wired. But I have a question. In situations like that, think about situation Michael Jordan, kicking it out the curve, understanding, making the right play. I think it's about having awareness and when you're supposed to take that shot and when not.
35:33There are times when being the best player on the court, you take that shot. You take it. But if you don't have a good look, there's no need to force a shot when you know visually and you can see at your peripheral, okay, I got Ruby sitting over there in the corner. I'm going to drive. I'm going to draw everybody to me, and I'm going to kick that thing out. so he can get a clean open shot that he can hit to win the game. And the fact that people criticize LeBron for making the right play, that's the funny part. It makes no sense.
36:06Shannon Sharpe:I think the thing is, Ocho, maybe, who knows, I still think he makes the right play, but he struggled from the field tonight. I think he was, what, 3 of 17? So he didn't have it going tonight. Right. The last time Braun scored under 10 points, Twitter was less than a year old. Braun was two years old. George W. Bush was the president. The iPhone didn't exist. Instagram didn't exist. Harry Potter's series wasn't finished. Kevin Durant wasn't even in the NBA. Nick Saban had just left the Miami Dolphins. Well, God damn. Let that sink in. That's how long it was going to be. 1 ,297 games. Hey, what year was Nick Saban with the Dolphins?
36:47I remember him there because I remember the story. 2007, right? Hey, please tell me you heard the stories about Junior Seau and him having problems with all the players at the Dolphins. He was
37:01Shannon Sharpe:very strict. He got to coach kids. Shannon Crowder told me some goddamn stories, boy. I'm talking about I was in tears. Ronnie Brown was there also. That's when they were running. The Wildcat? Was that the Wildcat when they was running the Wildcat or the next year? But anyway, LeBron James was 4-17, 0-5 from three, which tells me he wasn't aggressive, Ocho. You know why I say he wasn't aggressive? Not one free-throw attempt. But he did have 11 assists and no turnovers. AR had it going, 13-21, 5-11, 13-15. He had 10 assists, 5 rebounds. Remember, I told y 'all, Austin Reed's going to be an all-star.
37:46Shannon Sharpe:You think he'll make it all? He's going to make the All-Star? Absolutely. 1 ,000%. He's averaging like 27 points a game. And they're the number two seed in the West. I have a question. Is he able to average that much because LeBron is taking a backseat and role in facilitating the ball as opposed to picking and choosing when to take over games or when to answer themselves? For him and Luka. Yes. Yes. Because the ball is mainly in him and Luka's hand. And LeBron is playing off the ball. So it's not very often that you're going to see a guy that's as credentialed as LeBron be the third option. Well, I mean, I guess Kareem theoretically was the third option by the time they got to him and Magic and Worthy.
38:32Shannon Sharpe:But, look, it's been a struggle for him. I think the thing is him not being able to train this offseason like he wants with that sciatica, missing as many games as he did. he can only miss two more games so I think it's out of his like he knows he can only miss like another two games in order to be an all NBA selection or make any of the teams I think that's out the window now I just think the thing is he's probably going to be the first year that he averages under 20 points a game he'll probably be somewhere around you know 16 to 18 points a game and I don't see him playing past No. I mean, listen, I wouldn't make that call this early.
39:17You have to remember, it's still very early in the season. And the fact that he wasn't able to have training camp, he might be bringing himself along very slow. Understanding that Reeves and Luka can carry the goddamn load and pick and choose when he wants to insert himself into the game. And the fact that he has the self-awareness to not allow his pride or his ego to get in the way and being able to facilitate in picking and choosing and allowing the game to come to him. If the shot is there, I'm going to take it. If I'm out of rhythm like I was at night and I wasn't able to get my shot flowing, I'm going to get everybody else involved.
39:52Most players, obviously those that are hungry, they're going to shoot it and keep on shooting no matter how many times they miss.
40:01Shannon Sharpe:Well, I mean, he shot 17 times. I mean, he had the second most shot attempts on the team. They just wasn't falling tonight. And his shot hadn't been there with the exception of maybe a handful of games, that game that he had 25, the shot. But other than that, it's been a struggle for him to find a rhythm, to get into a rhythm because, look, Luka's dominating the ball. Luka's normally going to take about 10 to 12 shots in the first quarter. If you notice, Luka always gets off to a hot start. He's averaging somewhere between 16 and 20 points in a quarter. So he's getting a lot of the shots. Austin Reed's getting a lot of the shots.
40:32Shannon Sharpe:So it's kind of hard. He can do it. Like you said, the most important thing is for them to win. but it's tough. And, you know, look, I'm old enough to remember, I remember, excuse me, Chad, when Jerry Street got broken, consecutive games and passes. He was in Seattle. And it was sad. And he still holds that against Bill Callahan because he felt Callahan could have gave him an opportunity. What was Jerry Street, like 270 games? I think it was like 270 games. I don't think anybody going to break it.
41:08Shannon Sharpe:I think Jerry had a catch for like 18 straight years. Damn. 19.
41:20200.
41:21Shannon Sharpe:Think about it, Ocho. He caught a pass in 274 consecutive games.
41:31Shannon Sharpe:From 85, December of 85, to 2004. for you think somebody gonna break that record oh not I mean it'd be difficult because first of all you've got to play at least 19 seasons as a wide receiver he's the only one that's ever done it imagine catching the ball every goddamn game for that long that long hold on hold on no okay Ocho how many receivers have ever played 274 games let alone catching a pass how many have played that many games How many would be able to stay healthy that long to be able to even come close to breaking the goddamn record? Let alone playing 19 years or 20 or whatever it may be.
42:13Shannon Sharpe:Hell, I don't even think I played. I think I played like 210 games. Dang. And he caught a pass. Every one. Every single game. Crazy. I remember when Pete Rose Street got broken. He had a streak, I think it was 44 straight games. Getting a hit? You know how difficult that is? Yeah, yeah. That's why Joe DiMaggio's streak ain't going to be broken. 56 games. Yep. And then he went out, and I think he had another streak where he went 17 straight games.
42:54Shannon Sharpe:But look, at the end of the day, when you say you play the right way, because had he took it a shot, you know what everybody was saying he's trying to keep that streak alive he passes up make the game win and play where he was afraid to miss he ain't got the killer he's not an assassin he's not a killer so he's in an unattainable situation damn if he do damn if he don't
43:24so
43:26Shannon Sharpe:they got the win Rui hit a big time shot Rui 12 points. He was 4-9, 2-3 from 3. None bigger than the one that he hit. DeAndre Ayton has been playing really well. I love the way DeAndre Ayton is playing defensively. He's sliding. He's getting isolated a lot. He was isolated on Brandon Ingram. I thought he did an unbelievable job of sliding. I thought he did an unbelievable job of challenging. Obviously, at the rim, being able to put the ball in. He was 8-4-11. He had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks. You can live with that. You can live with that. But the streak is over. LeBron, start another one.
44:08Hey, hold on. You know what? I just saw somebody in the chat, you know, the chat going so goddamn fast. Somebody had the nerve to say, I know ain't nothing wrong with my eyes. Had the nerve to say, oh, LeBron is breaking down. I mean, I could have swore LeBron just averaged 25, 25, 8, and what was it last year? Yeah.
44:28Shannon Sharpe:He averaged 12. The first year that he averaged, he was 24.7. So it was the first year that he didn't average 25 in 20 seasons. But 24, 8, and 7 ain't bad. This year, it looked like he was going to average somewhere between 16 and 18 points a game. But 16 and 18 points a game, when the most points anybody's ever, first of all, go look at Vince Carter, what he averaged in year 22. Go look at what anybody has ever averaged in year 20. Look at what somebody's averaged in year 19. nobody's ever had these kind of numbers and the likelihood of somebody doing it again is not very likely yeah but okay yeah he's 41 41 look at all the miles that he's got on those legs all those playoff games all those minutes played yeah they catch up with you even if it does catch up with him somebody like that that is 41 he's breaking down and still betting everybody else that gets even close to that milestone that's played that long you still averaging 16 which is probably it's probably going to be more than 16 once he continues to get his legs up underneath him hell he's just coming back who has the next closest streak the most consecutive double figure game but if somebody like they're like a thousand like a thousand games short maybe even more
45:53Shannon Sharpe:Cooper flag was 15 days old
46:12the next
46:13Shannon Sharpe:close KD got 267 so KD is a thousand and thirty games you think KD is going to be around to play another thousand thirty games that's tough that's 13 more years so he'd have to play 31 seasons how old KD now what 30 what he ain't playing another 13 seasons KD 39 36 so that means he'd be playing when he's 49 SGA is the next closest at 170 damn hey man I mean that achievement in longevity is remarkable remarkable it is Copenhagen Spit Free packs American-grown tobacco into pouches made from when your elbow's deep in an engine block. 51:39Shannon Sharpe:Video has surfaced of the University of Buffalo wide receiver Victor Snow stepping out of bounds on his way to the end zone. Snow had nothing in the way of a touchdown except himself. He stepped out of bounds in the third quarter down by 15. Take a look at this.
51:55Shannon Sharpe:okay he got it look at this one Joe I see it in the corner
52:02Shannon Sharpe:he runs out of bounds oh he not wait what is he looking at nothing is he staring at the damn jumbotron he's staring at the parlay
52:17hey I would love to hear the explanation behind that Please tell me they have a conversation with reporters after the game on why that happened.
52:28Shannon Sharpe:They will. Bro, you came out better not even catching it. Come on, man. Come on, what are we doing? What are we doing in that situation? Were they losing? He came out better, Ocho. He came out better. Were they losing? They were losing by 15. something ain't right now i don't even down a something something ain't right but we need to go ahead and uh check it check check it check his cell phone check text messages in the third quarter ocho is 28 13. oh hell no i'm i'm finna i'm finna house that and buddy buddy way behind him anyway you can't you can't say you was running out of you you was you you didn't try to preserve the clock we a we want a we want to keep the clock running you down something ain't right and I'm I've never seen that before that's a touchdown and you run out of bounds well it should have been a touchdown it's not a touchdown but it should have been a touchdown that's what I meant and I think the thing I think the thing is Ocho is that when you you you make it so obvious a lot of times like you know you see guys are betting oh he's gonna he's gonna throw a pitch for a ball he's gonna throw a pitch for a strike or he's gonna hit the batter those are things that are that you know those are normal plays that we see every single day in a baseball game or drops or we don't see this Ocho we don't see a guy run out of bounds with his teeth we see a guy take a knee I mean people get upset when guys take a knee and all they got to do they go hit their parlay because they're gonna hit the spread and guys take a knee at the goal line and people get upset in this situation you're behind this is an opportunity for you to get closer.
54:16Shannon Sharpe:Oh, now you score a touchdown. You kicked the PAT. Now you're down 28 to 20. I'm confused by this. I thought I was like, oh, okay. At first I thought it was, I thought they were winning. But then when I go back and look at it and I see all the comments, they're like, hold on. They were losing. Why are you running out of bounds and they losing? I'm asking that very same question. Why are you running out of bounds? They losing. honey you the first thing i said is was he looking at this jumbotron because looking at the goddamn jumbotron and looking up i can that's the only way i can see you actually losing you know awareness of where you actually are on the field ocho he on the left side ocho he on the left side line the jumbotron this way i can see i can see if you're on the right side of you looking at the Jumbo Tron and you do you but you look at your eyes can you this way so your body's not gonna drift out of Bound and if you look at Ocho he puts the blinker on he turns around out about yeah yeah point shaving oh Ocho and the thing is he ran out of bounds and quit and turn around and came back in like yeah Even his teammate grabbed him like bro.
55:29Shannon Sharpe:What you doing? Chet I know y 'all saw y 'all saw y 'all saw his teammate grabbed him like bro what you what you doing six i wonder i wonder if they i wonder if they scored on that drive i don't know but i know i'm surprised the ncaa or the fbi ain't had a conversation they're gonna have it they're gonna have it they're gonna have it they're definitely gonna have it somebody gonna have to have something hey let me let me see your phone young fella and all the messages you deleted we can we can oh no you can't do nothing we can get them back don't worry about it yeah all that's in your that's all all that's in your iCloud yeah it's uh it's it's it's crazy it was crazy that that was that's what's going on now I don't know I don't know how you get it back Ocho I don't know how you I don't know how you build back the trust that what people are seeing are real because for the longest time Ocho you You know, hey, I had people go home and people were like, man, man, it's sharp.
56:32Shannon Sharpe:That game fix any, man. They told such and such to do this. They told such and such. I was like, I don't know what they told somebody. They ain't never told me nothing. So I didn't get the memo. I don't got here at all. But now after what's been coming out and that some people are like, okay, they didn't play or they got the under or they did this. Man, trust is everything in the public when they're dealing because they got to believe what they're watching is real or else it's WWE. And the funny thing about it too, when I think about it, I think about all the hours we put in and how the hell can it be scripted?
57:07How the hell can it be rigged? You know, based on the work we put in. Well, who the hell are they going to talk to? Because it's 11 people on the field and it's hard to control the outcome of a game, you know, unless it's the person that actually has control of the ball most of the goddamn time.
57:24Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but think about it, Ocho. we just said now I'm not saying anything but I said I've never seen a call what they called on I've never seen a guy go arm over and he get called for a holding I mean what the refs doing tonight um that's what I'm saying they're certain and they're they're the ones that can impact a game the most they absolutely can impact the game the most and That was ridiculous. It's just sad. I just hate it. And I just hope that, like, you know, I'm saying, hey, he just had a brain malfunction and he just tweaked. He started tweaking and he went out of bounds, Ocho. But this is not a good look.
58:05Shannon Sharpe:This is not a good look for college sports. This is not a good look for sports because everybody's going to start seeing anything that doesn't seem going to up and up. People are going to start questioning everything. They were already questioning. Now it's about to go to a 10. Yeah, most definitely. but it was
58:26Shannon Sharpe:damn son
58:31Shannon Sharpe:Ocho I mean bro you're 20 yards from a tub something ain't right something ain't right
58:40Shannon Sharpe:the boy like my granny just say something in the milk ain't clean oh hell nah Hey, he point shaving, huh? Come on, man. It's definitely not a good look. Now, look, I don't know what's happening. I don't know if he's been suspended. I don't know if he's had a call from his conference. I don't know if he's had a talking to from his coach. I don't know if any of the higher-ups, the FBI or whomever in charge of gambling, probably the FBI. I think that's the FBI department. federal yeah it's an investigation so the federal bureau of investigation um i don't know what has happened but this is not a good look chad and i i think you guys are understand too i think this is a situation where this is not this is a horrible horrible look and it could be a big old nothing but it damn sure look like a big old no big old nothing my ass uh-uh what you're not gonna do is insult our intelligence especially not just me not just you the people that actually watch the game of football and never seen anything like that.
59:43And if you want to insult our intelligence, hell, we can get the CIA involved too then.
59:51Shannon Sharpe:So what did they do with it? Do we know what they did with him? Did they suspend him? Did they do? Okay.
1:00:04Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe, one day after being claimed by the Buffalo Bill on waivers from the Steelers, cornerback Darius Slay has informed the Bills he will not be reporting to the team. Slay had been a healthy scratch in week 13 and seemingly fallen out of favor in Pittsburgh, so the two sides have mutually agreed to part ways. Adam Schefter reported that Slay wants to continue to play. Since Slay was released between the trade deadline and the end of the season, NFL rules require him clear waivers before he could become a free agent. That did not happen as the Buffalo Bill put in a claim on a 34-year-old. Slade does not want to play in Buffalo.
1:00:42Shannon Sharpe:However, Tom Pellicero reported that Slade has informed the Bills he will not report to the team and is contemplating retirement. The Bills are likely to let Slade manipulate his way out of the situation. When Anquan Bowden signed with the team before the 2017 season, when the playoff draft was broken, he then retired after two weeks before the season began. He later asked the Bills to release him so he could play elsewhere. being refused to grant Bowdoin's request and retained his rights. Ocho? Well, I think players don't want to go to the field. What's wrong with Buffalo? They got Josh Allen?
1:01:19Ain't nothing wrong with Josh Allen. Going to a team like that, you have a quarterback, but there's a chance you're going to be in contention. Defense is decent. I would love to go play with Superman if I was a defensive back, but I think Slay might be chilling. Slade might want to make a move and go back to Philly. He might want to be able to have a chance to go back to Philly and help him out in some way, shape, form, or fashion. That might be it. Or maybe, you know, I just don't see and understand how much Slade loves the game. That has to be his move. I think it's a chess move. Obviously, we both have the same agent.
1:01:58I don't play anymore, but still, we both have the same agent in Drew Rosenhaus, and I know Drew is going to give him the right information that he needs if that's what he's trying to do. And Drew will do his due diligence behind the scenes, behind closed doors so Slay can get exactly what he wants. And I personally think if it was going to be a move, I think he would love to go back to Philly as opposed to Buffalo.
1:02:23Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they know that. That's why they're not going to release him. You think they're going to play hardball? So, yeah, for sure. For sure. that's why they claim it a lot of times people would claim players they get released they would claim players so I want to make sure you don't go to a competitor that's somebody that we might have to play what if we release what if we let him go then he goes to Philly we end up seeing Philly in the Super Bowl and now we got to deal with Slade now we got to deal with it so no no I don't because all they're going to be on the hook for is the last what whatever prorated of a 1.3 million dollars left because I think he signed an 8-9 million dollar deal he got seven and a half of it up front.
1:03:04Shannon Sharpe:So the rest of him, so it's really nothing. So, yeah, I agree with you. I think that's what he wants. He wants to go back to Philly. I don't think he ever wanted to leave Philly. No, absolutely. But, you know, they, you know. They went young. Cooper DeGene. They went young. Michael and Mitchell. You heard me? They went young. They went young. They did, of course, of course. It's the nature of the business. I think Slay is still a very, very good quality corner. Very good quality corner. And having that veteran presence in that locker room, honestly, for me, I wouldn't want to leave either. I wouldn't want to leave.
1:03:40Shannon Sharpe:But defense has been playing well, hopefully. You can only play so many people. You got a quarterback on a big contract. You got two both-y receivers making big-time money. Look at your offensive line. Look at how much Lane Johnson, Milata, Dickerson. Look how much money they're making. Hold on, hold on. He has a team-friendly contract, though. he didn't at first they released it and so now we got guys and they had to re-sign bond yeah they did you got Jalen Carter coming up you got Mitchell coming up you got Jordan Davis coming up you know what I'm saying you got Mitchell you got DeJunk you can't keep everybody as good as you draft I don't care how much money you got and how much you want to keep everybody you're not going to be able to keep him.
1:04:28Shannon Sharpe:You're not going to be able to afford him. That's my dog. Hey, wait a minute. Well, maybe Slay might come back next week. He might come back next week because the Bills do have to play the Bengals. You know, I wouldn't want to come back a new team and have to deal with Chase and Higgins. No? You don't think so? It's really cold up there. That's football weather, man. Not for no significant other having to sit outside. They got sweets. Man, please. You don't like the sweets in Buffalo? The sweets in Buffalo, nice. Man, that man ain't trying to pay money like that, Ocho. You don't think so? You know how much sweets cost?
1:05:13Not that much. But a sweet ain't number 10 ,000.
1:05:20Shannon Sharpe:Clearly you didn't have one. No, you didn't. Not for no 10 ,000. yeah yeah how much how much not even not even not even in Cincinnati can you get a sweet for 10 000. I probably say the cheapest sweet would probably be a couple hundred thousand
1:05:43um ain't no sweet cost a hundred thousand dollars now come on now
1:05:46Shannon Sharpe:boy the sweets the closer you get to me feel they cost a million dollars what the hell you talking about what kind of sweet shot what man what is you talking ocho you do realize most sweets they come 12 16 18 24 30 that's what sweets come in and you know you know what's funny on you know what's funny is i actually had a suite and i don't remember how much it costs but i i guarantee you because as as as fiscally responsible as i was if it was anything like the numbers you said i would have told my my homeboys and family well y 'all gotta sit your ass in the stands when they get to november how many how many how many first of all how many uh how many uh how many people fit the suite oh uh let me see it's two rows at the front you got all the food then you got the bar you got the bar stool you have to pay for the food the food don't come with the sweet you have to pay for everything everything comes i mean it's part of the package no it's not yes it is you have to pay into you have you get the sweet and then you have to pay extra for the food nah i got i got a discount i think that's what it was i got a discount you got to understand what's the average price let me let me tell you something listen i'm i'm you can't get it for per game no yeah you got to get it for the season all eight games you got to get it for all eight games you um you you got to understand for me they might have gave me a discount because I wasn't just a player.
1:07:15You hear me? I wasn't just a player for the Bengals. I was a part of the Brown family. You hear me? I was so integrated and a part of the family. I'm not saying I was adopted, but that was the point where I'm going to change my name to Chad Brown Johnson. That's the kind of relationship I had with ownership.
1:07:48I Can't I can't wait to hit these numbers
1:07:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah closer to center field because I remember me and Ray had one this was in 2000 and we were next next to the owners box And we played a quarter of a minute Damn a quarter and the food did not come free Oh, hell. Hey, I like this. I like this topic right here, boy. Hold on. I like this topic. This is a good topic.
1:08:26Oh, this is a good topic.
1:08:30Shannon Sharpe:We're gonna have to put a call in to see how much - I'm calling right now. Hold on.
1:08:39Come on, answer the phone. Don't embarrass me in front of people. Company.
1:08:50Oh, he embarrassing me in front of company. God damn, TJ. Damn,
1:09:01he answered the phone. Now you got me curious. A quarter of a million for a sweep?
1:09:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, because we like Obviously the owners on the 50 yard The owners on the 50 yard line So we had the suite right next to it So Probably Ocho, in between the 20s is where you're going to pay the most Obviously you start getting the corner And then the end zone Because you see what they cost At the Super Bowl Them suites at the Super Bowl would be 2-3 million dollars That's crazy, and honestly At the Super Bowl, those aren't the actual fans. It's basically a corporate event. That's all it is. The thing is, Ocho, you have to give your suite up. If the Super Bowl is in your state, let's just say for the sake of argument, you got a suite in Cincinnati.
1:09:52Shannon Sharpe:The Super Bowl in Cincinnati, that's not your suite. That belongs to the NFL. They got to make their money. They got to make their money. They not playing about that. Yeah. Hold on. Wait a minute. I mean, I I'm just like I'm like God damn a quarter of a million Oh yeah It's expensive man But look Most of the time you know who has them The suites, the quarterbacks, the really high dollar guys The big boys And you know you don't want your Wives you know When I was there the only guy that had a suite was John When I was in Denver the only guy that had a suite was John Anybody that played that high I mean, that's not bad.
1:10:37Everybody had to sit outside to have family members.
1:10:41Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, because it wasn't a big bro. He was the only one making big money like that, man. You came before it don't pay no$100 ,000. You got to realize$100 ,000 in the 90s, but Ochoa was a lot of damn money. Yeah. I mean, it's a lot of money now. But I'm saying I'm saying back then, when you have people not making$100 ,000. When I first my first two years, I didn't make$100 ,000 a year. I made 63 and 73. Damn. So, hey, give me them$125 tickets. Because I think my first year, I think the tickets were like, nah, it still was like$75. What do you think tickets cost now? What's the difference in the ticket prices now?
1:11:20Probably$200,$250 for players' tickets because you still get two comp
1:11:25Shannon Sharpe:and then you can buy. You can buy as many as you want because it's coming out that goddamn check. Yeah. Yeah, well, it all appears on who you playing. It all appears on who you playing because there are a lot of times, like, you playing Kansas City in the Raiders, nah, or you playing the Cowboys, uh-uh. Wait, they up the price? You have to get somebody, hey, let me get somebody else tickets because, you know, my tickets were always in the same area. So, you know, my mom come and, you know, so I got, you know, I'm going to get, like, right there. You know, when I went out, you know, I ain't have nobody.
1:12:04Shannon Sharpe:I ain't want them to sit where my family would sit. So I put them, you know, I put them over there. Other side. Okay, you ain't want nobody to see. Okay, okay. Okay. Where your mama sit, don't worry about that. Don't worry about that. Don't worry about that. You not sitting with her. So definitely. Hell no. Okay. That privilege. No. So you're not the type when you date somebody everybody meet your mama. Hell no. Okay. Well, you know, that's that's very important because, you know, your mama tell you about your girl, you know, before anybody else. She knows she could read her. I'm trying to think once.
1:12:50Shannon Sharpe:I met Cookie in college. She met. Yeah, but it takes an idea. You ain't just finna meet on the real. Meet on the real because your mama gonna tell you the truth. Baby, this ain't the one. That didn't happen. Okay, I got you. I got you. But, you know. Because it might, hey, Ojo, it just might be, hey, might be just a convenience store. We just stopping to get some candy. Hey, the funny thing about it, you heard what you just said, it might just be a convenience store. Your mama lets you know that's the run it's going to be. She's going to know. I already knew that. I don't need mom to tell me that.
1:13:24Shannon Sharpe:I don't need mom to tell me that. I knew that going in. Okay, my bad. Let me get out your business. My bad. But everybody wanted to go to the game because Broncos been sold out. Broncos got the second longest sellout behind the Washington team. So tickets ain't easy to get. Everybody can't get tickets going to the Broncos game. Is it still like that right now? Yeah. Especially now that y 'all winning. I know the ticket price is crazy. But the Broncos been sold out. I mean, the Broncos been sold out since I don't know 70 75 77 something like that been sold out for damn near 50 years god damn y 'all fans loyal okay but I mean look everybody look I'm sure she told uh I'm sure she's told people nah but she would really like the first girlfriend me and my mom okay my mom met at the game she get there like oh hold on i said mama i said mama you gonna be sitting next to my girlfriend okay okay tell us more about cookie huh there ain't nothing to tell story time we got plenty time we got two hours to go nah we ain't got no time to tell nah who we i know hey yeah i can tell you like her because every time i say cookie you start blushing i see you i see you okay i already told i already told I told you about cooking.
1:14:53Shannon Sharpe:I told you I watched her for like two weeks. Come in the cafeteria by herself. I mean, she had some girlfriends because I knew one of her girlfriends was a cheerleader. So I knew her girlfriend for a couple of years. So when she got there, I was a junior when she was a freshman. And I watched her go into the cafeteria by herself. She'd leave, walk back to her dorm. The girl's dorm, the freshman dorm was Lockett Hall. I watched her because I watched the Ochoa. I'd be in the bathroom. I go to the short hall and I be looking at the bathroom with it. Okay. Okay. Can I tell you something real quick before you finish?
1:15:28This sounds like some love and basketball shit.
1:15:31Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I like that. I don't know about no love and basketball, but Ocho, I said, watch it. Just like this here. Damn. I'm just waiting. I said, I know she got somebody. I know somebody got this. Right, right, right, right. So you know what? I'll never forget that day. I was like this here, Ocho. I said, I'm going to go. I hit that door. over that red out there. I said, hey, hey. I said, hey. I said, what's your name? She said, my name is, I'm just gonna call her Cookie. But she said, I said, hey, you got a boyfriend? She said, no. I said, where you from? She told me she's from Brunswick. Oh, she from Jersey.
1:16:15Shannon Sharpe:Okay. Brunswick, Georgia. Oh, my bad, my bad, my bad. Okay. Yeah. I said, okay. So we talk, I said, I'll see you around. She said, okay. What? She's like, what's your name? I said, Shannon. She said, Shannon Sharp? I said, yeah. She's like, mm-hmm. I said, okay. Oh, hey, honk, you in there. Hey, honk, you was in there. Because she already knew who you were. Hey, when you said Shannon, she was like, oh, Shannon Sharp. You already know you're in the game. But everybody, hey, everybody know Shannon. Okay, okay. That's not the whole thing. So you know, I watched it, so the next day I see it at the class, walking in the hallway, I say, hey, how you doing?
1:16:55Shannon Sharpe:She said, hey. She smiled, I said, okay. But I had told my roommate, at the time, I had already told my roommate, I said, that's gonna be my girlfriend. He say, the light skin chick with the short hair? I said, yeah, yeah. Wait, hold on, she with light skin with short hair? Hold on, like the little pixie cut, like with the little curls? Oh, like in the 90s. Ooh, tell me some more, huh? hey but it's good good and uh so i said uh you like football she said it's okay so you need to come watch me play she said okay she said what's your number i said uh i ain't telling my number i said you it'll be i'll be real easy let's go boy you were talking spicy y 'all what i'm talking about i said i'll be really i said i'll be real easy spot you know who i am hey i say probably the first two to three minutes of the game, there'll be no doubt which one I'm out.
1:17:51Shannon Sharpe:Hey, boy, talk your shit, boy. So, man, and that's how I started, you know. Hey. But I, hey, and everybody knew I was for real about her, because at that point in time, Ocho, hey, I said, I need you to do me a favor. She said, what you doing? I said, man, they be tripping with them the washing machine to dry. I said, people be stealing your clothes. They be taking stuff out. I said, can you take my clothes to the laundromat? She said, okay, sure. She said, but I don't have no car. I said, you take my clothes. Ooh! Hey, that's how you go fishing right there. You hear me? Hey, wash my clothes for me.
1:18:36People be stealing it. You threw the bait out there. And she bent quick. Hey, you read that thing right on in, what? I know that game. I used to use that line too.
1:18:47Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, man. So, so, so I gave the keys to, I gave her the keys to the car and I, I ain't, I ain't, I ain't, man, Ocho, how we stretching and all of a sudden my car, now I got a 200, I got a 300 CX T-Tops. how about how she gonna come where we brought football practice with the windows down the top out and blow the horn hey um let me tell you what that's called uh let me tell you what that's called you know when you walk the dog right you know you walk the dog what's the first thing the dog do they they go they find a territory and they they peeped she's marking the territory she letting the boy know she marked it boom y 'all stop trying to holler at me you see where i'm at in the tee top with the PC cut.
1:19:38I know she probably had on some shades too. You know, okay.
1:19:41Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, honey, girlfriend. Hey, what you think about rekindling that flame though? Nah, bro. You don't think so? Nah. But listen, the story is so good. Look here, man. After the game, we go out to eat, we go to Rhymes, we go to movies. My brother give me like, hey, you score a touchdown, I give you$200, you get 100 yards a game, I give you$200, blah, blah, blah. So, hey, I have 200 yards, three touchdowns, four touchdowns. Man, I'll be straight. So, you know, hey, I'm going off campus. You know, we go out to eat. We go, hey, I'm at Applebee's. I'm at the Chili's. I'm at, hey, I'm Ryan's. I'm everywhere.
1:20:23Shannon Sharpe:Can't hear you. Got to go to the hotel. You know, got a hotel. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You know, I'm big. You was at the hotel, too? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Hey, I like this story. Yeah, then you know. Yeah, my mom, my mom, you look. My sister, but the thing was, Ocho, it didn't really dawn on me. It didn't dawn on me. My nephew had got sick, so he was at the hospital in Augusta. And my sister's like, I got to go to the hospital. I got to take Dedrick to the hospital. That was my nephew's name. so this was like probably was like probably like March or April because at this time Libby had
1:21:13Shannon Sharpe:no Libby had I don't think Libby had met her but anyway so I go I drive I say well look I got to go to my I got to go to the hospital my nephew's in the hospital she's like I'll go with you I'm like you sure So my brother was going to meet me up there so I met in Augusta and I remember going and I asked the lady at the desk I said Sharp, what room is Sharp in so they tell me, you know I had started and got some flowers and stuff like that and so I walk in the room, you know hey little bro, I said hey big sis hey how you doing? She's like I'm Libby I'm Shannon's big sister. She said hey how you doing?
1:21:54Shannon Sharpe:She introduced herself and we went to get something and she said she said well y 'all can go and I'll stay I'll stay right here I'll stay in the room with your nephew I was like okay so we go we walking down the hallway you and Libby Libby Libby my sister Libby elbowed me yeah yeah yeah I'm Libby in the middle I'm on one side and Libby elbowed me I said what you know what I see what she look at spanking spanking she she stopped in the hallway she say spanking who that girl look like who she look like my brother's girlfriend oh they look they look like they could be sisters I'm talking about everything The way they were shaped, the way the haircut, the complexion, her teeth, everything.
1:23:00Shannon Sharpe:The way she walked, everything was a spitting game. Now, don't tell me they were twins now. They could have been doppelgangers. If I didn't tell you, if they stood side by side, you couldn't tell they weren't sisters. I like this. This is a good story. Listen, ain't nothing like a supportive woman, especially when you meet them that early. she didn't went to wash her clothes she didn't went with you to the hospital she done checked two boxes already now this me this is sounding like someone that this sounds like somebody you can spend a lifetime with and it's never too late we can find her I was too young I was too immature and a lot of times in that situation you have to understand what she didn't understand is that all her girlfriends telling her you don't need to be with him and i told her i said all your girlfriends that's telling you you don't need to be with me i guarantee you they would switch i say now you're gonna let your girlfriends talk you out of a relationship stop playing that you know misery love company uh misery love company but yeah i was i was i was just like at that point in time i was still so focused and uh but i still you know i would you I would drive down.
1:24:19Shannon Sharpe:I would drive to see her. I would drive in the middle of the night to see her, come back, because I didn't believe in that. Mary Porter wasn't going to let me. They's like, you can spend the night here. I was like, oh, no. Oh, absolutely. Oh, no, man. Mary Porter ain't going to play that. Because she's going to say, well, baby, where you staying last night? Oh, I stayed. No, no, no, no, no. That's no, no. Hey, you cooking right now. Listen, it's never too late. So back then, you was in the pool. It is too late. It's been too late. That's 30 plus years. It ain't never too late. We got to find Cookie, boy.
1:24:55We got to find Cookie.
1:24:57Shannon Sharpe:No, Cookie fine. Cookie, I know you're going to see this. Honey, let's recinder that flame. Man, look, do you know how many people going to call her? Oh, yeah. I guarantee she'll call my homeboy tomorrow. Cookie, come on, come on, come on now. Let's get this thing back right because we got a double-decker wedding coming up in 2026. no we ain't got no double necker wedding we already got hey o'shea she already got uh uh she already got something oh you got something that works yeah you got something cooking yeah i mean i do they do you like cookie because i like the story with cookie are they supportive like yeah yeah hey hold on hold on you should wash your clothes though
