In short
Nightcap episode focused on Cleveland Browns preseason QB competition and roster decisions, plus takes on Deshaun Watson’s short leash and other NFL QB readiness (including Fernando Mendoza).
Guests/backgrounds
Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Joe Johnson (former NFL and NBA stars, respectively) co-host. They also reference Ryan Fitzpatrick’s public comments and Kurt Herbstreit’s question during a broadcast, but Fitzpatrick/Herbstreit are not guests.
Key claims
- Dylan Gabriel looked excellent in the Browns’ 37-13 win over the Patriots, despite Deshaun Watson and Shadour not playing with the ones; hosts argue Gabriel “put himself in a good opportunity” and earned an A-plus.
- Deshaun Watson will be under heavy pressure early; if Cleveland starts 0-2, they’ll likely make a QB change quickly.
- Fernando Mendoza (Raiders) is not ready to start; hosts argue to sit him and let Kirk Cousins lead while the team builds protection/support.
Notable examples
- Gabriel: 12-of-15, 186 yards, 3 TDs, including a 52-yard completion to Ben Patterson.
- Mendoza: 7-of-14, 57 yards, 1 interception, sacked twice; overthrew Jalen Naylor for a second interception.

5:55Shannon Sharpe:Listen, now this right here is wild because it's based on a true story. The FBI agent, Rain Strider, decides he's finished waiting for it to work. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays Wayne Strider. Mark Wahlberg plays Greg Scarpa, one of the most notorious mobsters in American organized crime. Now think about that for a second. You've got an FBI agent and a mobster, two men from completely different worlds, working side by side, chasing leaves, pressing the issue, and closing in on the truth. That's what makes this true story so unbelievable. And a man like that becoming useful in a fight for justice.

The Browns defeated the Patriots by the score of 37-13 without Deshaun Watson or Shadour getting any playing time tonight. Dylan Gabriel took the action, took advantage of the situation. and went 12 of 15, 186 yards, three touchdowns. Ocho, you like what you saw from Dylan?
9:03Shannon Sharpe:You're muted.
9:13Joe Johnson:Hey, you can hear me now? Yes.
9:15Chad Johnson:Yeah, we twin.
9:16Joe Johnson:Okay, my bad, twin. My bad. but listen didn't gabriel look good um for someone where there was a quarterback battle going on in camp with deshaun watson i mean deshaun watson involve him yeah it didn't involve him at all he didn't get any reps with uh you know with the ones he looked really good tonight he looked extremely good tonight he had commanded offense he was very efficient too uh throwing the ball but again and people people also need to understand exactly who was playing tonight so I don't want to take anything away from him but he did look very good at the quarterback position tonight
9:52Chad Johnson:Joe what you thinking? Yeah man I thought Dylan Gabriel I gotta take it back I said the man need to go get his CDLs Dylan Gabriel say hell all you gotta do is give me an opportunity give me an opportunity bro give me an opportunity to play with some of these guys I bet you I can show up and show out I thought he played great tonight 12 or 15 passing 186 yards, three touchdowns in the first half. I mean, he led three touchdowns that was nice. For me, he had several impressive throws, including that 52-yard completion to Ben Patterson. Ocho, I give him an A-plus, bro. He was accurate. He was decisive.
10:34Chad Johnson:He moved the offense efficiently, and he looked comfortable attacking downfield. So, hey, man, I think if you're Dylan Gabriel, bro. You've done everything you possibly could to put yourself in a good opportunity, bro. You know what I mean? So it may not be with the Browns. Somebody else can pick him up and may want him to be a backup somewhere else. You showed out in your performance. That's all you can do, bro. He had his opportunity. Did his thing.
10:58Shannon Sharpe:You see what happens when there's no pressure on you? Now last year when he was competing for the job, did he look like this, Ocho? No, sir. Did he look like this, Joe?
11:07Chad Johnson:No.
11:08Shannon Sharpe:The other two guys are battling out, and all of a sudden, it's almost like they wrecked, and then I just creep on the victory lane. He played extremely well. Yes. Credit what credit is due. He played well. Looked like he understood the offense, where he was supposed to go into football. Look, he's never going to have a big-time arm. He's never going to remind anybody of Michael Vick or Steve Young. Right. That's not who he is. That's not what he is. Can he be, you know, I don't know, a Kellen Moore? Hey, that's possible. Yeah. Kellen Moore had him a nice little career. Turned out, wouldn't be a nice offensive coordinator.
11:41Shannon Sharpe:Then he became a head coach. But on the field, I thought he did extremely well. I thought the Browns played extremely well. You know what? I think they're as tired as everybody else is talking about Deshaun and Shador and talking about the quarterback situation, guys. Guys were able to just go out there and relax, knowing that, hey, whatever's been going on over the last four or five weeks, it doesn't involve us. No. It ain't got nothing to do with us. Mm-hmm. We have no impact on who's going to be the starter. But I tell you what, I'm trying to go out here and make it difficult on them not to cut me.
12:14Joe Johnson:Yeah, hey, there you go. The 30th is coming.
12:16Shannon Sharpe:The 30th is Sunday, if I'm not mistaken. Oh, yeah. They're going to have to get that roster down to 53, guys. And hopefully I made it as difficult as I possibly can on them because that's when I made it. I went all the way to the last cut. We had five games prior preseason game, and it came down to the last cut before your boy made it. yeah
12:37Joe Johnson:tonight was everybody audition tonight was everybody's audition most of the players playing tonight they auditioned for a job maybe not with the Cleveland Browns but maybe for a job or a position somewhere else so it was imperative that they played well and it's funny that the Browns look this good you know with Dylan Gaber at the helm tonight so I mean it's a good thing for him a good thing for the Browns in general and listen hopefully that momentum can carry on into the season hey
13:04Chad Johnson:yeah i and you you're right i think you don't overreact to a preseason game okay ocho but man when your second and third units dominate like that 34 13 you know it tells me cleveland may have a little more depth than you know probably what we anticipated you know what i mean don't tell me that they don't tell you that i mean listen listen listen think about it you know those guys get an opportunity to compete bro they still fighting for a roster spot okay absolutely and
13:33Joe Johnson:and that's pressure. Amen. Two rocks in a can, two rocks in a can make a bunch of noise. That don't mean they diamonds, Joe. Ooh. No, no, no, Joe, don't do that. No, no, no, no, see, there you go. See, Joe, Joe looking at the situation, you talking about, man, they balled out, they balled out. Yeah, okay.
13:53Chad Johnson:Amen. Just because you got two rocks, that don't mean if you file them down, they gonna become diamonds. Hey, listen, only thing I'm saying is, when guys get opportunities, bro, it don't always come out like this. They don't always come out like this. So, you know, it's good to see these guys, third and fourth strings, third and fourth units, get a chance to come in and compete and play at a high level. Cause here, some of them, Ocho might be their last time touching the field, man. Oh, for sure. There's a lot of them last time touching the field. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. A lot of them dreams dies tonight.
14:26Damn. It's really that simple. You waited a lifetime. You were good in high school.
14:31Shannon Sharpe:You were good in college. You wanted an opportunity and you got it. And your dream dies tonight.
14:37Chad Johnson:Hmm.
14:38Shannon Sharpe:It's really that simple. Some some will get an opportunity maybe be on the practice squad. Some will be on the practice squad elsewhere get an opportunity. But eventually all of these guys, that even the guys that make the practice quiet Ocho and Joe, they're not going to be on an active roster. Eventually their dream dreams die also.
14:55Joe Johnson:Yeah. But but you know what your dream dies also. but you live to see another day because somebody sees something in you. Somebody sees something in you to put you on the practice squad. You know what? I like this one. We can develop him. We think he can develop into something nice and he can be a value to us later on down the road. Right now, we don't want to let him go and we don't want to cut him. So we're going to bring him back, allow him to develop, and he can give those that are our starters and give us a look week in and week out depending on who we plan.
15:24Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, sometimes, Ocho, you're just like, you know what? maybe if we give this guy another year up on his belt in our system, we have hands on him every single day. We coaching him up. We let him, because he's just, some of these guys are just raw. Raw. Yeah. I was a guy with just raw. I went to a small black, I was historically black institution and we didn't have, we didn't have a one coaches that coached in the NFL or coached at the collegiate level for an extended period of time. They mainly coached at the black college level. And some of the coaches, this was their first time coaching. So they looked at me and said, you know what, hey, he wrong.
16:01Shannon Sharpe:I mean, he's athletic as hell. He's big, he's fast, he's willing to learn. He works his ass off. Let's give him a chance.
16:07Chad Johnson:Yeah. But Ocho, now, I mean, when I came in, I think they would only have like five practice squad guys. Ocho, now you can have like that 15, 17.
16:16Joe Johnson:Yeah, you got a lot. I mean, it's a good thing. It's a good thing. It's a good thing. Politics and number crunches, number crunching, it hurts because it's only 53 spots. So it's a good thing that you're allowed to have more roster spots. Oh, yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But I think the thing, Joe, before you go, I think the thing is, Ocho, when they go to the 18th game,
16:39Shannon Sharpe:I think people are lobbying. You might need to take that 46-man roster, take it to 49-50. Two bye weeks in between because that's an awful taxing schedule on the body now. You're already pushing the limits of what a body can withstand. Yeah. So now throw an extra bye week in there. You already going to be damned pretty soon. We're going to be having the Super Bowl on St. Paddy's Day. St. Paddy's Day, you're going to have the Super Bowl Sunday, and St. Paddy's Day will be that Monday or Tuesday, Joe. Right. You're going to go from being drunk on the Super Bowl to being drunk on St. Paddy's Day.

17:14Go ahead, Joe. You want to say something?
17:15Chad Johnson:I'm the practice squad, guys. So all they do is just practice. Do they come to the games? Do they come to the games? They don't dress out. None of that. They don't normally travel, but they do. Some teams will let them travel. Some teams, I mean, they all come to the –
17:33Shannon Sharpe:I mean, I've heard like sometimes the practice squad guys have to sit in the stands. They don't get to stand on the sidelines like the 53 guys that made the roster that don't get to dress out.
17:45Chad Johnson:Yeah.
17:46Shannon Sharpe:Some of those guys have to sit in the stands, and some of them guys get to stand on the sidelines. But I think the thing is, my job is to make sure I give you the best look I possibly can give. So, whomever it's supposed to be. If I'm supposed to be Pat Sertan, I'm going to be Pat Sertan that week. If I'm supposed to be Stingley, I'm going to be Stingley. If I'm Christian Gonzalez, hey, by the way, if I'm JSN, you getting work. If I'm Chase, you getting work. Hey, young fella, no, sir, slow down. You are sure to job tomorrow. I am not. Hello. Ain't no slowing down. Hello. Ain't nobody. That's the way I approach it, Joe.
18:26Shannon Sharpe:Hopefully these young men approach it the same way because you're not guaranteed because at any given time, somebody else might get released on a team they weren't anticipating. And guess what that means? Yeah. Now you go. Yeah. I'm not giving no – I was not going to give those coaches a reason to cut Shannon Sharp. I wasn't going to be late. I was late that one time. Hey, brother, you go get your truck. I've got my own vehicle. I was early. Man, please. This is a great opportunity for these guys. Yeah, it is. Just don't mess it up. Don't let nothing mess this opportunity up because you're not guaranteed another one.
19:07Chad Johnson:Hey, shout out to the boy Taylor Green over there. He got in that show. What he can do a little bit? Huh? That boy got some wheels on him. You hear him, Mocho? What? What happened? Where are you from? What school do you attend? Oh man, why we gotta talk about all that? The man got in there and done what he could do, man. You know the man, the hog, man. Come on, man. You see the guy from, you see the running back from the Raiders. You see him, Ojo, you see him early?
19:31Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Where he went to school, huh? Where he went to school? Hey, he woo pig too, huh? Big hog. That's what we gotta deal with. Everybody come from Arkansas. Hey, you see the pig, hey? No, but he did good. Hey, he got some legs. You see eight for 66, averaging eight yards a carry.
19:52Chad Johnson:Hey, that's a lot, bro, from the QB. That boy, shh. Hell, he got, what he got, 4 '3 speed at that height? So once he unwind, it's gonna be hard to catch him, ain't it, man. You let him get in the open, it's. Oh yeah, yeah, you're not catching him, no. Guy got that kind of speed, and once he unwind, I mean, he's 6 '6". Yeah. He freakish athletic. Wait a minute, 6 '6"? Yeah!
20:22Joe Johnson:Man, moving like that?
20:24Shannon Sharpe:Yes. My goodness. Yes. He's super, he's uber athletic. I mean, 40 plus inch vertical, Ocho. Yeah. 11 foot long, almost 11 foot long jump. I think he ran like 4 '3", 4 '3", something 40.
20:40Chad Johnson:Yeah, it was something crazy like that. Yeah. Hey. Damn. I mean, he still didn't pass Vic.
20:47Shannon Sharpe:You know, Vic ran 4-3-3 at the combine. Vic still got the fastest time for a quarterback at the combine. And what was Lamar's?
20:54Chad Johnson:What was Lamar Jackson?
20:54Shannon Sharpe:Lamar didn't run at the combine. I don't even know Lamar ran the 40.
20:58Joe Johnson:Nah, he didn't have to. He didn't even need to.
21:01Chad Johnson:Damn, I'm saying you think he would be 4-3? Man, Vic runs so fast. Vic, the only man I know. Vic too fast for his own body. You see how Vic start running and start stumbling on start stumbling over yourself. Yeah, yeah. That's our kids, you know our kids, they start running and all of a sudden they tumble because they running faster than what their body should be allowed to run. That's Vic. He shouldn't be able to run that fast. And Vic was like this here. He ain't going in a hurry.
21:29Joe Johnson:Right now, right away, like Tyreek.
21:32Chad Johnson:And with a cannon, with a cannon, with a cannon.
21:36Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe with a little flick of the wrist, that's it. The ball fly off his hands. Oh, yeah. But he was – but no, DeBron's look good.
21:45Shannon Sharpe:Give him the credit. I mean, everybody was playing their backups. He looked good. And they won this ball game. I don't know what they take away from it. They just take away and said, look, I gave my best. If you're a player, everybody ain't going to make the roster. They have all these guys they're going to have to cut down to get down to 53, so they're going to have to cut – I mean, they might have had 85 guys, but they're going to have to cut 20-plus guys. 25:11Shannon Sharpe:Sometimes things are just out of your control. The Browns PR team is working overtime with Deshaun. Check this clip out from before the game, guys.
25:27Shannon Sharpe:Get him, Deshaun.
25:32Shannon Sharpe:Kill him with kindness.
25:34Joe Johnson:Yeah, that's how you do it. hey one thing about it well hey one thing about it listen you got to learn to work the room well in this case you got to learn to work the stadium work it hey listen learn to work the stadium huh now this is just this is just one half of it it's just one half of it the other half is september 9th if i'm not mistaken on what september 9th or september 13th yes a little
25:59Shannon Sharpe:Because the ninth is like a Thursday, so Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Yeah, it was like the 12th.
26:04Joe Johnson:They play the Jaguars first, right?
26:06Shannon Sharpe:That is correct.
26:07Joe Johnson:Man, listen, boy. I don't know what Deshaun Watson got to eat Sunday morning. Joe, I don't know what prayer he need to say. Yeah. But, boy, when he get on his knees, the night before that game, he needs to say everything. You hear me? I already know. Man, boy. I'm telling you, he could win not just that stadium back. He could win that city back. Remember the movie Gladiator, right? What they told Maximus. Win the crowd. Huh?
26:44Shannon Sharpe:Win the crowd. You're going to be all right. That Friday before, I'm passing out turkeys. It ain't even Thanksgiving yet. I'm passing out turkeys.
26:53Chad Johnson:Hey, listen, let me tell you something. All that kindness y 'all talking about, they ain't gonna amount to nothing. He got to get out there and put up. He got to put up some numbers. That's what they want to see. That's the only way you can get them crap, them people off of you, bro. Joe. Hey Joe, I passed that turkey. Yeah, hey, but listen to me. They gonna say thank you, but they ain't sending them damn turkey. Oh, they not, they not, Joe. They're not, Joe.
27:16Joe Johnson:Hey Joe, you got a thing now, and the movie Gladiator, it's only one way to win the crowd. You got to go out there and do what? You got to perform.
27:23Chad Johnson:Yeah, perform. You got to perform.
27:24Joe Johnson:You got to entertain. And once you win the crowd, everything else will take care of itself. So, I just want to see young Bull do well, man. He's been having to deal with a lot the past, what, what, four, five years? Something like that?
27:36Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, since 2020.
27:38Joe Johnson:Yeah, he's been dealing with a lot, man. You know, this is coming from a football fan. You know, a football fan that enjoyed the game of football. Not the Bengals player, you know. I just want to see him do well, man. And, I mean, if it doesn't go well, it's his job to lose. I said that multiple times, you know. I'm telling you right now, Uncle, if they 0-2 in that hole, that first home game, they ain't taking no chance. They going to make that switch. I'm telling you, the leash on Deshaun Watson is extremely short. Extremely short. And they're not letting the season get away from them before they make a change.
28:13Chad Johnson:Hey, I can't go against you, Ocho. You was right last time. I'm probably going to roll with you. If they come back O2, and they gotta open up at home O2, shh.
28:26Joe Johnson:It ain't happening, yes sir. Hey Joe, I'm glad you listened to me for a change.
28:31Chad Johnson:All right, here we go. You ain't done. I appreciate that. Hey, not too much, not too much. I ain't saying that, I said I appreciate it, Joe.
28:37Joe Johnson:I'm just saying, just not too much. I wasn't gloating, I'm just saying, I'm saying thank you for listening to me for a change, Joe. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, sometimes, you know, you can lead a horse to water, never mind.
28:48Shannon Sharpe:We always say, we say the same thing. A lot of guys, when guys were playing, guys, Shadour played against backups last week. That wasn't their starters. Y 'all get mad? I mean, we gave the guy credit. He played well. Yeah. But we saw Dylan Gabriel against starters last year. How did he look? And we saw Shadour against starters last year. How did he look? Don't get mad because Shadour outplayed him, which we told you. Ocho and I told you he was. Yes. Don't get mad. We don't have anything to do with the quarterback competition. That's a Todd Munkin and that's a Cleveland Brown situation. Yes. They chose not to put him in the quarterback competition.
29:22Shannon Sharpe:Not Ocho, Joe, and Shannon. So don't y 'all just point your anger somewhere else. It'll be okay. Yeah. And guess what? If Shadour doesn't perform along with Deshaun, he'll get his chance. It's simple. Sports is all about performance. Sports is a performance-based business.
29:49Joe Johnson:it's really simple hey um hey joe more than sports the corporate world everybody that's in the chat you have a job you you you hide for a reason you have a job for a reason you have to perform in some way shape or form in order to keep your job in order to get paid absolutely
30:10on the menu you go to the menu guess what they serve wins and losses that's the only thing you can get in sports, Joe and Ocho. Oh, yeah. It's a very short menu.
30:21Joe Johnson:Yes, sir. Wins and losses. That's why when you come to the Dub Cafe, you get a hot L or a cold Dub. That's what you get.
30:31Joe Johnson:Oh, man. It is what it is. I can't believe man. Football season is here, man.
30:37Shannon Sharpe:It's here. Golly. Two more weeks. Well, this is the last game. So, you know, they get to bye week. So, they'll probably get some time to probably go. Probably give them some time off coming into Well, Labor Day is what? Next weekend, right?
30:54Joe Johnson:Yeah.
30:55Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
30:56Joe Johnson:Damn, Labor Day is next weekend.
30:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
30:59Joe Johnson:Next month, a week from Monday. Hey, what we doing for Labor Day? We just be coming back from, what you call them, Houston. Dude, we ain't got to come back now. Yeah, we got to go to work now. It's time to work now. Hey, you chose the jet set on your vacation. Who? Ocho. Oh yeah, I ain't had no vacation, boy. Yeah, yeah. Hey, Joe, that little two weeks we had off, I was working, boy. Moving around. I already knew it. You know what? I'm not even tripping. You gonna wish you had a vacation. Huh? I said, you gonna wish you had a vacation. Nah, I'm gonna be all right. Listen, honestly, I'm ready to work from 9 to August, next August, 2027, Yeah, because I know that's when we take our next break.
31:45Joe Johnson:Next year, August, yeah? Yeah. Yeah, I'd be good.
31:47Shannon Sharpe:Maybe a little earlier because there ain't no – I mean, I don't know. We might have to cover the Women's World Cup. But if anything else, Ocho, we got our fantasy draft on Monday, Labor Day.
31:56Chad Johnson:Okay, okay, okay.
31:58Shannon Sharpe:I like that. Oh, Joe, you already know you're going to be so slow.
32:00Chad Johnson:Who are we going to be in it? Us three and who else? Just us. Us. Just us three. Yeah. I mean, we're going to have some hell of a team. We're going to have some hell of a team. We're going to have a whole nightcap. Ash is going to have a team. the only one they gonna have no team is jordan okay hey jordan pick all centers tell my man why i ain't score no points this week
32:22Joe Johnson:and and and hey i'll tell you what make sure don't none of y 'all pick any bangle players since y 'all already talked about whoa whoa whoa whoa don't pick i gotta see i gotta see what pick i get i gotta see what's available hold on no no no don't don't worry about what's available What you mean? All that talk y 'all do about my Bengals, when you play fantasy, it's time to pick your team. Don't pick no Bengals players. Yeah, just make sure. Hey, you got to chill, bro. You want us to let you pick all Bengal players, huh? Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I'm just saying, all that talking, they shouldn't be on your fantasy team, the way y 'all talk about it.
32:58Chad Johnson:Well, it depends on what pick I get, where I'm at, who's available. I can't tell you that right now. That's all I'm saying. Yeah, okay. I just want y 'all to know, look here, staff, y 'all not picking first. So y 'all might as well just wait to Ochocho and I pick. Y 'all not picking first. I think I should get first picked. Just so y 'all know it's weighted against you. I think I should get first picked, for real.
33:24Joe Johnson:Why?
33:26Chad Johnson:Because I'm –
33:28Joe Johnson:You're going to pick Dak, obviously. Damn, you know who I'm going to pick. Why are you so hostile? Why are you so... I'm not being hostile, but you're supposed to be a Cowboys fan, right? So if you're playing fantasy, you have the first pick, why would you go with your quarterback? Go with your quarterback.
33:43Chad Johnson:Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, Turbo. Can I take my time and tell me to pick my team?
33:48Joe Johnson:Damn, you going to tell me how to pick my team now? No, I'm not trying to tell you how to pick your team, but I'm hoping, I would think, you know, a Cowboys fan, nigga, hoorah, hoorah, you go with your quarterback.
33:57Chad Johnson:Well, don't worry about what I got going on, partner. Just know I'm going to have the best team. Now, I'm finna wax you and Unc in this fantasy. Well, first of all, Joe, it ain't who you got, it's when you play them. Because you must about to have your best guys on the bench. And the one time you don't start him, he go crazy. Now you gonna come over here and call Man Ocho and I.
34:20Joe Johnson:Oh yeah.
34:22Chad Johnson:Hey Chad, this gonna be a layup. This gonna be a layup. No. I've been going to go with a few notes. I've been looking like, okay, this guy might be able to do something this year. I already got my, I know who my first pick is going to be. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've been scouting too. I kind of got some stuff wrote down like on what defenses I'm going to go with. You know what I mean? Like, you know, what kick I'm going to go with. You know, I got some, I got, huh? What kicker?
34:53Joe Johnson:Yeah, you're going to have to pick a kicker, Ocho. Well, anybody you pick, it should be a cowboy. you mean that brandon aubrey is one of the best kickers in the league whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa
35:02Chad Johnson:don't talk so loud because i don't know who oak i don't know who i'm talking about getting so dang keep it on the low bro first of all uh aubrey might not be available when he's here yeah that's true that's true just because you want it that don't mean he gonna be available i was just throwing some stuff out there i ain't you know i ain't you know i'm just you know i got some stuff brewing over here too now it's so funny y 'all doing all that you know she's the queen of fantasy you know she just swears she just go oh i'm gonna win i'm gonna win and don't be winning nothing she be coming in last place just like everybody else hey that's who i gotta worry about because she gonna be trying to pick some of my players i already know it ass you're gonna have
35:41Joe Johnson:to chill too ass you gotta chill hold on hold on hold on now listen if we playing fantasy right there has to be something there has to be something that happens to the person that comes in last place oh there has to be something i don't know what it could be um why i'm with you
35:59Chad Johnson:because ain't no way in here i'm coming in last i ain't boy what you don't think so we got to find out what what the lab what the person at last place what the person got to do yeah that's what
36:09Shannon Sharpe:i meant yeah it ain't got to buy no money because we already know you ain't paying on your soul so we got to do something else i mean shoot joe ain't paying either hey keep me out your business
36:18Chad Johnson:partner don't speak on me don't speak on me see that how you gonna do you you drive snitching you just no no no no no no look they didn't call oh your name oh joe come out they got us they got us no hey they ain't got us they got you they got you don't be pointing at me bro
36:38Joe Johnson:hey hey i mean i'm i was just letting um know in case he forgot that you still owe me five
36:43Chad Johnson:Oh man, come on, man.
36:45Joe Johnson:I mean, I let that little funky 500 go though. I ain't tripping.
36:54Clearly, clearly you let that little funky 500 go or you let my 50-dollar go. Oh.
36:58Joe Johnson:Hey, I got, hey, I promise you, I'm gonna pay you, boy, before 2027 get here. I tell you that, and that's my word.
37:04Chad Johnson:Hey, that's my word. Oh, you let me get a little percentage, man. We can jump his ass. I'm with it, I'm telling you. well we got top golf next Saturday y 'all first of all I know Ocho ain't winning that
37:18Joe Johnson:hold on wait we going to top golf yep listen when y 'all schedule these things y 'all got to let me know ahead of time so I can at least prepare and practice how you looking to prepare for that Ocho that's a week because y 'all know I don't play golf and never have we don't play neither oh so we all even then
37:38Chad Johnson:yeah we don't play neither Listen, if I play, you think you and Unk would have won that little putting thing? Because if it wasn't for that. Joe, they already know. They saw Arnold Palm Tree. They know once Arnold Palm Tree show up on the scene? Oh, God. Here we go. Hey.
37:56Joe Johnson:Arnold Palm Tree. If it weren't for that, if it weren't for that, it would have. It took a clown's mouth. I can't wait. I'm glad you said, hold on, next Saturday. You said next Saturday? Yeah, we in Houston. Oh, damn. Hey, you got your boots. I ain't got no boots. Oh, Joe. You can't wear boots on the court. Oh, Joe. I changed my shoes then. Okay. Well, you got to do all that. I ain't got no boots. I got a whole outfit for nightcap. We in Houston. So you got to dress appropriate for the state you in. Nah. Joe, you ain't wearing no boots.
38:33Chad Johnson:No, no, I ain't it gonna be hotter than on dress for nightcap might have me a funky fly t on you know some jeans right yeah keep it moving ah see man y 'all i ain't even gonna hey look i ain't even gonna have no jeans on i'm gonna keep it real with you yeah so i'm only one being cowboy attire yeah man but do your thing bro yeah it's gonna be too damn hot for all that though i'm gonna keep it real
38:57Joe Johnson:but no i'm gonna wear short sleeves yo okay okay sleep cowboys don't wear short sleeves You have short sleeve flannel, yes you do. No, cowboy, now when they work with that equipment in the field they have on long sleeves. Well, we ain't in the field, we doing night camp. You a cowboy? Yeah, for a few hours. I'm gonna find something out there in Houston, man. Just, I'm on the big belt buckle, you know, the boots. Yeah. The wranglers. You want the whole nine. Huh?
39:31Chad Johnson:You want the whole nine. Well, you should order one of those big old belt buckles. They got them at the store. Oh, yeah, yeah.
39:39Joe Johnson:Yeah, yeah. You know, we'll be able to find that there in Houston. I don't know what store to go to in Houston, but I'm sure I'll be able to find one once I land.
39:45Shannon Sharpe:Well, I'm sure they got plenty of country-western stores out there.
39:47Joe Johnson:Oh, yeah, absolutely, absolutely. I'm going to get some gator boots all black.
39:55Shannon Sharpe:During the game, Ryan Fitzpatrick told Kurt Herbstreit, once Deshaun Watson fails, Shadour is going to jump into this thing, and he's going to be the guy and the city is going to be behind him. Herbie asked, you think he'll fail? Fitzpatrick answered, yep, it's going to happen.
40:12Joe Johnson:Damn. Yeah, listen, I saw some of those clips too about Fitzpatrick talking about Deshaun Watson and some of the things that he's regressed in. Regressed on? Yeah, regressed in and some of the things that he does well just for the simple fact that he's been playing football for so long. And I heard him talk about Deshaun Watson. excuse me about um about shador sanders so it was interesting to hear from a quarterback's perspective that actually played the game for a very long time uh he was good he might have been a journeyman but he had his magic which is why we call him you know it's magic so it's interesting to hear him his take on it and now we're saying at some point you know the sean will will lose that job um i never i never heard fitzpatrick so so raw and uncut either like that i've never heard
40:58Shannon Sharpe:not normally that way when they describe something, especially on television. When they're with buddies, they might talk a certain way. But anytime they're in public, they're on the radio, they're on television, or they're in a public setting, they're normally not as harsh or as staunch in their critique, especially of other quarterbacks.
41:17Joe Johnson:They normally told the quarterback line. Yeah, they told the line, yeah. He ain't told a line.
41:22Chad Johnson:Hey, I thought Fitz was very blunt in the way he spoke. you know but i don't think he told no lie uncle ocho i'm gonna just be 100 with you i think yeah the jaguars and the buccaneers their defense are you know are pretty good and i think deshaun got his work cut out for him meaning he gonna have to have like one of those historic games you know uh in games one and two i just start with game one against the jags i mean man he gonna have to play lights out bro he gonna have to move that ball that dinking and donkin that ain't gonna get it man. He gonna have to move that ball down that field fella.
41:59Joe Johnson:Hey Joe, he gotta start. He gotta start off dinking and donking though. I mean you got to be your confidence. You can't be your confidence by trying to let that thing go down the field, you know throwing long. That dinking and confidence, it gets you in the rhythm. Once you get in that rhythm Joe, it's like you hit a layup Joe, you come down, you hit your nice midi, you know at 15 hit you another one from 17. Then what about when you get behind that arc, you feeling good because you done hit you by three shots. Well he get a couple of passes in him you know short okay I'm ready and don't complete one long oh you know what the problem
42:32Shannon Sharpe:Deshaun's gonna have well even if he plays well people gonna say that's not Deshaun that I remember in 2019 you see as we start to get old people compare us to our younger self younger self yes and so his younger self was fantastic he was unbelievable he was a he was an all he was a he was a perennial Pro Bowl player. That's what the expectations are. People don't look and say, well, man, the man had Achilles surgery, the man come out shoulder surgery, and the man had suffered something that went on in his life. People don't want to hear about that. All they see is number four in a Browns uniform, and they remember what he once was.
43:12Shannon Sharpe:Was.
43:16Shannon Sharpe:That's the expectations. so he's got his work he's got his work cut out for him I want him to play well I don't want him to fail I want him to play well I just don't know based on the history from what I've seen of him I just don't know if it's I don't know how well he succeeds
43:38Chad Johnson:and and we don't know how well that damn offensive line gonna hold up neither playing against some of these ones when the season starts and they're really down to the nitty gritty because they've looked at their offensive line. It looked good at times, but sometimes, you know, it's been like, damn. So I think, you know, I don't want to put too much into it, bro. I think all the quarterbacks, especially Dylan Gabriel today, he's put himself in a great conversation to where it's like, look, don't y 'all forget about me now.
44:09Joe Johnson:Yeah. They're going to forget about him. They don't forget about him, Mocho? Yeah. Yeah, you got to remember that. It not only is it the preseason, you got to think those threes and fours and some player that's really not going to make the team. So it's kind of not easy to look like that. But if it.
44:27Chad Johnson:Ocho, I can only go against who they put me out there with. I mean, damn, you give me an opportunity. I can't. Whoever they put out there. I can't.
44:36Shannon Sharpe:When they gave me an opportunity last year to go against ones, how did he look?
44:40Chad Johnson:Well, look, y 'all talking about something. Y 'all talking about something old. There y 'all go. Talking about that old stuff again. He probably done grew. He done grew over the summer. He done worked on his game. He's still 5 '8". Oh, you talking about his knowledge of the game and reading. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
45:00Shannon Sharpe:No. It's just hard when – because when I look at him, I don't see anything extraordinary. He doesn't have extraordinary height. He doesn't have extraordinary size. He doesn't have an extraordinary arm. He doesn't – he's not computer like Brady or Manny with processing information. I don't see anything extraordinary. And normally when you're that size, you have to have something that's extraordinary. Something got to be special.
45:24Joe Johnson:Baker Mayfield has something special. Yes. You know? He got a whip like arm. Yeah. And he has a certain mentality too. He got a certain dog to him, you know, in a sense that just makes him who he is. Yeah. So, well, I hope you're right, guys. I hope, uh... Welcome to On the Field. 48:35Shannon Sharpe:You sure enough? plays out of his mind. The 49ers beat the Raiders 18-12. Cousins, first Cousins, that is, finished 8 of 11, 51 yards, zero touchdowns, but with sharp on two drives. Fernando Mendoza took a beating today, overthrew Jalen Naylor for a second interception, and just never looked comfortable in the pocket. 7 of 14, 57 yards, a touch interception, sacked twice.
49:01Joe Johnson:Hey, welcome to the NFL.
49:02Shannon Sharpe:The question is, not should he start the season, because I think everybody's like, no, don't start. How long do you sit him? Do you sit him for the entire season? Yes. Or do you sit him until Cousins?
49:14Joe Johnson:You sit him for the entire season. He's not ready. Sit him for the entire season. Rookie quarterback. What's one way to rattle a rookie quarterback? What do you do? You send what at him? Pressure. All right. You know, there are questions when it comes to the offensive line. There are also questions for the supporting cast that they have over there in Las Vegas. the supporting gas isn't that good do not throw that young man out there to the wolves too early no continue to build around him allow Kirk Cousins to to to take the helm allow him to lead the way allow him to steer the ship this season and continue to build around Fernando Mendoza and I'm sure Tom Brady his voice will be heard and he would probably say the same thing because he's the one that's talked about developing the quarterbacks and putting them out there too early knowing they're not ready.
50:09Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
50:13Shannon Sharpe:I would sit him as long as I possibly could.
50:16Chad Johnson:Yeah.
50:19Shannon Sharpe:If I can sit him for the whole season, the thing is it's hard to sit him for the whole season if we're not competitive, Ocho. Right. Because I don't want to lose the locker room. Yeah. If we're competitive, we're losing game, close game. within the game for the most part, I can sit him. It would be a valuable learning experience for him. Some people say you don't learn anything, but Patrick Mahomes would tell you he learned a lot.
50:42Joe Johnson:Yeah.
50:44Shannon Sharpe:And I think he's probably more Patrick Mahomes than he is Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning was a four-year starter in the SEC. Now, the kid is unbelievable. He had had a phenomenal season. What he was able to do, you know, win the national championship, win the Big Ten Conference, win what, win four bowl games, three or four bowl games.
51:07Joe Johnson:Mm-hmm.
51:09Shannon Sharpe:He had an unbelievable senior season and played well his junior year. But if I could, I'm going to definitely try to steal this season. And then, son, it's all you. You ain't got nobody looking over your shoulder. Ain't no cousins. You already know this is a one-year deal for you, bro. So I know we signed you to a two-year deal, but this is only one.
51:31Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah, it was – he had an ugly pick. He also took that sack from the Keon White kid. I just don't think you panic with Mendoza, Uncle Ocho. You know, especially with this game alone, he did put together a great two-minute drive right before the half to get him in field goal range. So I thought his bounce back was pretty good. But, yeah, y 'all right. I think you sit and let him sit behind. let him sit behind Kirk Cousins, learn. And if you have to throw him in there, and hell, y 'all ain't worth two dead flies, then you throw him in there and give him a shot. But, man, he got some work he need to do.
52:07Chad Johnson:He got some work to do.
52:10Shannon Sharpe:You said something. You said, if you notice, Ocho, guys, rookies, they play really well in two-minute situations because they ain't got time to think.
52:17Chad Johnson:Yep, yep.
52:19Shannon Sharpe:It just, everything is spread out, and you just, hey, you just going.
52:25Chad Johnson:Yep.
52:28Chad Johnson:You ain't got to think. I still think, look, I've seen him make throws that lead me to believe
52:35Shannon Sharpe:that I think he's going to be good. I think he's going to be pretty. I think he's going to be a really good quarterback. I really do. I think, obviously, you're going to have to put pieces around him. He doesn't have a whole lot to work with. I like Joe. I like your guy. I like Mike Washington Jr. He runs the ball hard.
52:51Chad Johnson:He does.
52:52Shannon Sharpe:Gumbunwale. I think he's going to be there. nice backup nice compliment Trey Tucker is the best receiver obviously he and Jalen Naylor I think they're going to probably be contributors Brock Bowers is the guy he's their best offensive weapon he and Max Crosby are the two best players on the team it's just hard when you play a dependent when you're the best player on the team and you play a dependent position because now I really can't I can't really showcase what I can do because we've seen what Brock Bowers can do when he has a quarterback that can get in the ball. Now, we're going to find out what Cousins can do.
53:29Because, like, if you protect him...
53:31Chad Johnson:Give him some time back there?
53:33Joe Johnson:Boy, hey, he's surgical with that ball. Oh, yeah, I already know it. He's surgical with that ball, boy.
53:40Chad Johnson:Damn. I don't know, fellas. It's been a while since the Raiders been worth something, so...
53:49Shannon Sharpe:They had that one year, the year that Cincinnati ended up going to the Super Bowl, Ocho. That was when Derrick Carr was there. They ended up losing to y 'all in y 'all building.
53:59Joe Johnson:Wasn't that Derrick Carr was the quarterback? Derrick Carr, yes.
54:01Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. Hold on, when was that? When was that?
54:04Joe Johnson:21. 21?
54:06Chad Johnson:Yeah.
54:06Joe Johnson:Yeah, they had a real good season.
54:11Shannon Sharpe:And they hadn't been the same since. Hmm.
54:19Shannon Sharpe:So, we're going to find out. But on the other side, Adrian Martinez, I like Adrian Martinez.
54:24Chad Johnson:Man, that boy getting good.
54:25Shannon Sharpe:I think he got a future in the NFL. I really do. He got legs. He got a nice arm. Yeah.
54:37Shannon Sharpe:Matt Jones, you know. But for the most part, they let Adrian Martinez, obviously they're not putting Purdy in harm's way. But I think Adrian Martinez, and clearly Matt Jones is going to be the backup. because when you feel you've got a championship contending roster, the last thing you want to do is trust that roster with a young, young quarterback that's inexperienced. Mack Jones has experience. He's been a starter. He's played well. When Purdy went out last year, he played extremely well. Lost a couple of games that he probably should have won. They should have won. Right. He can get hot and get 340, 350 yards in a hurry.
55:18Yeah.
55:19Shannon Sharpe:And if Bosa is back, if Fred Warner is back to that level. It's going to be nice. I think they got a chance. I think the point is, look, that's a tough division. Because the Rams are in that division. Seattle's in that division. In that division. So that's the toughest division in football.
55:42Chad Johnson:And they got injuries to major guys, though, Uncle Ocho. You know what I mean? Like, they top guys. hell all of them dealing with something yeah everybody coming back though everybody coming
55:55Joe Johnson:back so they they got to clean they got a clean slate i mean shanahan has had to deal with some unbelievable unfortunate injuries at the wrong times that's it that's the quickest way to derail
56:08Shannon Sharpe:a season you get an injury to a key player well first of all you get an injury to your quarterback your season's damn near over at that moment right there. Basically. Now, you start having injuries to key players and guys out three, four weeks at a time. Because you can only say next man up so many times before you're like, hold on. If it was the next man up, he'd have his ass up. He would be up. He wouldn't be the next man. He'd be the man. Facts. Hey, that's a good one. Facts. Everybody quick to say next man up, next man up. How many next men you think you got?
56:43You're not like that. Ain't nobody stashing starting players on their roster. All the starters that's capable of starting, that's where they are.
56:53Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. So it's going to be interesting to see how this thing turns out for the 49ers. But if the Raiders can buy – if Cousins can give them enough, can buy them this season. All things being equal, that's really what they're hoping. They're hoping that Cousins can buy them this season. If he can buy them this season, when he come in there after the season, hey, man, good job. Thank you, man. Curl. Curl, appreciate that, man. You did an unbelievable job for us.
57:20Chad Johnson:They gave him a nice little bag to come over there, didn't they?
57:23Joe Johnson:Yeah. And, Uncle, you know they might keep him that second year, too, as security. Yeah, for sure.
57:30Shannon Sharpe:But I'm saying he would have done his job. Right.
57:36Shannon Sharpe:When you've been a starter, Joe, and you know this, Ocho, and you know this. It's hard. When you've been a starter for an extended period of time, Joe, you was a starter for 12, 13 years. Ocho, you was a starter basically from your second year on. I was a starter from my third year on. Man, it's hard to be on the bench. Yeah, it is, bro. Yeah, you figure the game out. You know what's needed of the game. You understand the speed and stuff like that. But, man, it's hard.
58:07Chad Johnson:You got to have a different... Third down, you running out there on the field all tight, trying to stretch, hey, you pulling your leg back while you running on the damn field. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You doing jumping jacks on the sideline, man, come on. Hey, listen, listen, as soon as you checking the game, the dude you checking, he already in a full lather sweat. You like, hey, I need by a leaf, four, five trips up and down the court, for I can open up this Chevy on the highway. You feel what I'm saying? So it might take me a little minute to get going. I know what you're saying, huh? Boy, I done jumped out there on that freeway, and them boys going 100 miles per hour and you gotta try to catch up.
58:42Joe Johnson:Shit.
58:43Chad Johnson:Ooh. Man, you up there, man, I'm stiff in the palm wood. I'm up there trying, ah. He, ah, ah, I mean, hey, he just playing him like. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Let me go. I'm up there fighting the joker, I ain't put three yards down the damn field. Yeah, hey, hey, boy, the worst day can happen to you when you come off that bench is if that ball will find you as soon as you get in the damn game. Yeah. Right away? I'm talking about in basketball, Ocho, I'm talking about as soon as you're checking the game and that ball come to you on a swing, swing, you got to shoot. You're like, damn, I just got in here.
59:21Chad Johnson:I just want to get a trip up and down and you miss? Oh.
59:25Joe Johnson:Hey, you know what, Joe? And that's, you know, it might be a little worse than that.
59:29Chad Johnson:What's that?
59:29Joe Johnson:When the game is gone, you done caught the ball in the first quarter.
59:33Chad Johnson:Yeah.
59:33Joe Johnson:And you ain't touched the ball for three quarters, you in the fourth. and you look at your quarterback, you get on that phone and call your officer coordinator. I mean, you know, hey, I ain't caught a ball. Hey, let your boy touch it now. And long behold, as soon as you complain about the ball and they throw it to you in the game. He beat you up. Damn. My bad, my bad, my bad. That's on me. Yeah, yeah. Every time, every time, every time you complain, you drop the ball. I don't know why.
1:00:05Chad Johnson:I know exactly what you're saying because think about this. Some cats, you know, especially if you're on a second unit in basketball, you might not get in the game until the start of the second quarter. Well, if you stand over there for 12 minutes or one quarter in real time, that's like 25 minutes sitting over there, bro. You know what I mean? Now you got to jump up. You got to get losing real quick. That's hard, bro. I ain't going to lie to you. It is hard. You know what, man? I hate standing. Hey, hey, cuz I be trying to, hey, I be up moved to the back. I be sitting out, sharp, sharp. Man, I'm sitting on the bed, Joe.
1:00:39Hey, then the coach tell me, stay close to me, son. Stay close to me. Man, my knees, my back still. Man, I'm running out there like Frankenstein. Yeah.
1:00:48Joe Johnson:Oh, man. Yeah. And then that phone ring, Joe. Buh, buh. Sharp, phone. 84, what is it looking like out there? Look like I ain't caught no passes.
1:01:04You up there, you should be able to see it real good from up there.
1:01:10What you like? I like when y 'all throw me the ball. I mean, it ain't that complicated. And then you get mad when I slam the phone down.
1:01:20Joe Johnson:Hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey, Uncle Joe. What's up? Joe, don't be in practice all week and you getting the ball. now you touching it so you thinking in the game hey hey hey hey you thinking in the game well hell if if the game gonna go anything like practice well this should be a 200 yard game that's i'll be thinking what but you go in there for you and it's the fourth quarter joe you don't
1:01:44Chad Johnson:you don't call one ball yeah hey hey one ball because hey because in practice especially in basketball guys don't play like how they gonna play in the game like the ball may be hopping in practice. You know what I'm saying? We getting some good looks in practice. Hell, the game come, the swing swing ain't there no more. You know what I mean? Hey, man, I'm telling you, I done been there, bro. I know. I know, bro. It's hard, boy.
1:02:11Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, that's, that, hey. It ain't gonna cover that. You ain't calling me like two, three balls, don't you? Say, I love your energy today. That's where the lead. Lead who? Yeah, yeah. Man, I'm about to lead a rebellion on y 'all. I'm about to say,
1:02:28Chad Johnson:Hey, hold on. Hey, same thing. They'll come to you in basketball. When they know the game ain't going right for you, you probably ain't had but a couple looks and a half. Hey, what you like out there? What you want? Man, come on, man. Stop playing with me, bro. Come on, man. Give me the damn ball and stop playing, okay? Call some plays for me.
1:02:46Joe Johnson:That's what I like. Anything to calm you down, boy. Hey, hey. I try to, as long as like, if practice, if I only caught four or five balls, five balls in the week in practice, I'm cool going into the game. I don't have no expectation. Right. But you throw me six, seven balls on Wednesday, another six, seven on Thursday. You throw me eight, nine on Friday in the red zone on Choke. I'm thinking I'm going to get me, man, hey, that's 16, 23. I caught 23 passes in like three days. I said the bare minimum, that's six balls right there. That's in the mid. Max, I might get me a 12. I might be a 12 for a buck to win in a tub.
1:03:30Shannon Sharpe:Man, I go into the half. I got one catch for three yards.
1:03:38Shannon Sharpe:Man.
1:03:43I'm up there, bro. I'm up there by nose water like a Brahma bull. I'm blowing like Frizzman. Hey, they know you pissed off too. Hey, they know you pissed off. Don't worry about 84, we go, hey, we see you. I can't tell.
1:04:00Joe Johnson:Hey, what would make it so funny is it hit home because I've been there.
1:04:06Chad Johnson:Man, that's why I'm over here crying tears, boy. I promise you, I done been in that situation. I'm like, damn. and practice everything a little different you know we we fluent we fluent game game damn man it's been a whole half man come on man they ain't doubling me that damn much now come on now boy that's funny you know you you have to bite your tongue because like when you winning the last thing you can do is complain when you win it at least on show you had a reason like hey reason why we not winning y 'all give me some passes we can win some games we win it i can't Don't complain. Absolutely.
1:04:44Chad Johnson:Absolutely. But don't think I ain't seizing.
1:04:49Shannon Sharpe:And then come, hey, and then next week, hey, you know, we kind of spread it around last week, but this week, it's gonna be a different story. Man, tell that bulldog to somebody else, man. Ain't nobody lying there. Hey, hey, hey. Probably the best game of my career when I had Kansas City game, Ocho. Yeah. I was like, man, I don't even know why I'm playing. Oh, Joe, I probably caught four passes the whole week. Four passes the whole week.
1:05:18Joe Johnson:Yeah. And then go out there on Sunday catch 12 for 214.
1:05:23Chad Johnson:Went crazy. Went crazy. But you ain't had no expectations. You probably went out there like, man, whatever, man. Y 'all ain't threw me nothing all week. Hell, I'm just going to go out here. And next thing you know, that damn ball start finding you. Boy, listen. I should have had probably about 12 for about 247. I blew a route because I was like, man, you ain't throwing me the route. I was supposed to run a scene, and I run a seven route. If I stay up the scene, he hit me. If you go back and watch the film, he's about to throw it too, and I break to the seven. He throw it.
1:06:01Shannon Sharpe:I catch him for like 20 yards, but it would have been another 27 yards. It would have been a touchdown. Hey, you got to keep that up. See, man, shut up. You ain't throw me the ball off every day. Punch you in your face.
1:06:19Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hold up, though. That happened quite a bit with wide receivers on it, because I've seen some receivers, hold on, who may not have caught a catch, and then now they ain't even running their damn routes hard no more. You know what I mean? That happens from time to time? Hell yeah. Yeah, because I know I be watching. I'm like, damn, he ain't even trying to get open hell.
1:06:38Joe Johnson:Hey, some receivers are shut down on you, Joe. Yeah. You got to keep them boys involved, man. I'm talking about your number ones. But quarterbacks know that, though, don't they? Hey, yeah. Boy, they will check out the game, Joe. I'm talking about this era. Man, you play around if you want to.
1:06:55Chad Johnson:Hey, they start giving you that bad body language, Ocho. Hey, you can read it.
1:06:59Joe Johnson:You can read it all day. Body language, yep. Yeah. Yeah. Damn. And that's the thing though. See, and the thing is like, and I was like, damn. You know, but I went to the game, I said, man, what if I run the wrong route on this thing right here? And sure enough, I talked myself from running the damn wrong route. I'd have had a 47-yard touchdown. I got a 20-yard completion, which is good, you know, a 20-yard completion good. But I was like, damn. And then we're going in the half.
1:07:30Shannon Sharpe:Mike, Kooz said, hey, 84, be ready. We gonna open up a counter pass. I said, y 'all said that all week. Y 'all put counter pass one time in practice. I said, man, I said, Kooz, man, y 'all been saying that, y 'all. Be ready, be ready, be ready. I'm ready.
1:07:50Shannon Sharpe:Man, I cooked them boys.
1:07:55Joe Johnson:Boiled them some good days. Well, I'm just thinking about that. I was like, hey.
1:08:00Shannon Sharpe:And the thing was, we played Kansas City and Tony was on the other side. Man, Gonzo was so mad. I said, man, come on, let's take this picture together. Man, he didn't want to take no picture with it, boy. I said, come on, man, take a picture with your boy.
