You are not a joke because I'm sending them to Joe as part of your restitution payment. Okay, okay. Well, listen, I'm going to just take them from Joe. Ain't no problem. You're going to take what? Them jerseys? Not tonight. No, it ain't going to happen, partner.

9:42Yeah, all right. I'm going to tell you right. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Ocho. Hey, hey. You treading lightly, partner. Hey, let me tell you something.

9:51Shannon Sharpe:All I do, I'm going to turn them over to Joe. What happened with him if I put him in Joe's hand? That's between you and Joe. Hey Joe, I can tell you something real quick. Go ahead man, talk. I got a particular set of skills. Yeah. A set of skills that I perfected over the years. Yeah, yeah. A set of skills over the years that will tear your ass up. Okay, okay, Lim. Okay, Lim.

10:16So, all right.

10:18Shannon Sharpe:Kentucky beat number 10 Santa Clara in overtime. I thought I had this one. I really, really thought I had it, Joe. Hold on, hold on. You picked Santa Clara? Oh, man. Joe, I had a three-point lead with 2.4 seconds to go. I didn't think the guy was going to bank in a 45-footer. Hey, Santa Clara should be moving on. Ortega Owaui. Not today. Owui scored a career-high 35 points to send the seventh-seeded Wildcats to the next round. Owui submitted court prayer, banked in through the net, and the buzzer went off into overtime to help the Wildcats avoided upset. Alan Graves thought he had the game won with his game winner with two seconds left.

10:57Shannon Sharpe:But we made sure the Wildcats advanced. So he hits that shot. They tied up late. So make it a 72-72. Then the guy comes down, hit a three-point shot, make it 75-72. And then the bank shot, make it 75-75. They head to overtime. And that's where Kentucky took control of the ball game. And they ended up winning this ball game. Joe, watching this game, I mean, like I said, And I think when you're picking these brackets, Joe, you just can't go with the higher seeds because you lose every time. You won't even make it to the sweet 16. And so at some point you got to start picking like, you know what, I think I can see a potential upset here.

11:37Shannon Sharpe:But give Kentucky credit for them to find a way to get this game in overtime and then win it in overtime speaks volume to this team. Yeah. Yeah, I thought that Kentucky got lucky, bro. They got lucky. Hey, I'm rooting for the SEC throughout the whole tournament, but Santa Clara had them on their heels. The whole game. And they, yeah, the entire game, and they was able to rally back. But I like the guts that they play with. I like that, what's his name, Uwe? Uwe, yeah, Uwe, yeah. His brother played for the Chargers. Oh, that's his brother played with the Chargers? Hold on, no, he just went to the Commanders.

12:15Shannon Sharpe:He was with the Ravens, right? Okay, yeah, he went to the Ravens with the Chargers, and now he got the big contract to go to the Commanders. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Okay, yeah, yeah. I like the aggression that he came and played with, especially late. So Kentucky could be a scary team. You know, that first win, Ocho, you know, to get that dub, bro, it's hard. I don't care who you playing because that's why I say these neutral sites, it don't matter. There's no home court advantage for real. And you know it's going to be some upsets. That's why they do the billion-dollar bracket. Nobody. Never.

12:47Man, come on. Please, stop it.

12:50Shannon Sharpe:Owe? Owe. Owe. It's pronounced Owe. Owe. Owe. Owe. Yeah, Kentucky. They got back in there. They gave themselves another chance. Oh, yeah. Chance to fight another day. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, fellas. Hello. Hello. Yeah, but I mean, when you see the gentleman play, he played 43 minutes, so he played all but two minutes in the game. It was 40-minute regulation and then five-minute overtime, so he played 43 minutes. 35 points on 10 or 12 from the free throw line, 3 or 8. He also had 8 rebounds, 7 assists, a steal, a block. So he did a little bit of everything for this ball club.

13:28Shannon Sharpe:Aberdeen had 16. The Abate, 17. Garrison, 10. So they got contributions from everybody. Look, I don't really know what Santa Clara can do. I mean, you had the lead late. They tied up with a 2, and then you hit a 3. But if you notice, Sarah Clara coach tried to call a timeout so he could set his defense, but they didn't give it to him. So it's going to be some controversy with that. I'm sure the staff and the players are upset about that. I'm sure fans of Santa Clara, they're upset about that. But, you know, hey, he didn't get it. He did not get the timeout call, and Kentucky hit the long three-point shot, and they went in overtime.

14:21Shannon Sharpe:And that's what you have to have. Sometimes, like I said, it's better to be lucky than good because you have to find a way to survive and advance. That's the motto of March Madness, survive and advance. And they definitely survived, and they advanced. And so we'll see if they can continue this moving forward. But I thought Santa Clara played about as well as they can play. They're 10 seed playing Kentucky. Not Kentucky of old, they have all these five stars, and they had the Murrays, and they got the Devin Bookers, and they had the Boogie Cousins and all these guys. They don't have that level of talent currently.

14:55Shannon Sharpe:And so, you know. This is going to hurt, though. Oh, for sure. This is going to hurt. If Santa Clara, hell yeah, it hurts. Yeah, you Santa Clara players, the summer is going to be long because you're going to continue to think about this here. Yeah. I mean, that was luck, bro. That last shot. Hey, he banged it too, didn't he, Joe? Yeah, yeah. Hey, we in March, Ojo. This will happen when you in March. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. One game. That's all it takes. That's why. It don't matter what your season is. This is why people love March Madness so much. Because it doesn't matter where you rank. I can play you close and then I do something crazy at the end of the ball game.

15:36Shannon Sharpe:Make a shot like that. Right. Here's the thing now. That shot just got – that didn't win them the game. It just got them to overtime. They had to play well in overtime to win. So it wasn't like a shot that walked it off. They still had to play five more minutes. And so they still – sometimes we've seen teams get into overtime and that's the high point. And then for whatever reason they fall flat in overtime. Give Kentucky – because even though they were on that considerable high, they still was able to carry it out. Santa Clara, I can imagine what that did to them. I mean, all the air probably went out of their sales.

16:15Shannon Sharpe:Because, you know, hey, we just hit a three. It wasn't a two. So the only thing that could happen, the best case scenario, they hit a three, we go to overtime. What's the likelihood? Odds had to be less than 1 % of that happening because they got to go the length of the court. Yeah. Hey, if you Kentucky, when he made that shot, I'm thinking, okay, we can't lose this game. We got new life. We get another chance at overtime, and that's when they kind of just took over the game. But I thought Santa Clara was great, bro. They gave them great competition. I do think they should be advancing, but we in March, fellas.

16:53Yeah. This is how it goes. You got one shot. One.

16:57Shannon Sharpe:I mean, Kentucky had 22 losses on the regular season. But, hey, here we are. Like you said, guys, this is March Madness, Santa Clara. Woo. That one really...

21:46Shannon Sharpe:Miami, number seven, Miami, beat number 10, Missouri, 80-66 after Missouri finally climbed ahead after hanging around all game. Miami reeled off of 11-0 run down the stretch to put the Hurricanes firmly in control down the stretch. Senior, Malik Renaud, struggled early but used a couple of three-pointers to find his groove, scored 19 of his game-high, 24 points in the second half. Friday night felt like the de facto road game for Miami, but they were able to handle the environment in the pesky Tigers to pick the Hurricanes' first NCAA tournament since 2023.

22:23Yeah, Miami got it going, bro. I hate Missouri lost their SEC team, but I pick Miami to beat Missouri. Same. Yeah, I pick Miami.

22:33Shannon Sharpe:I'm surprised, Ocho, you ain't got Miami going to the national championship. Yeah, you pick everything else, Miami. Nah, I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't do that, you know. You know, he ain't going to pick no Hurricane over no Tiger, you know, or nothing like that. You know, he going off mask, guys, man. Hey, listen, hey, Joe, listen, when it comes to picking March Madness, Listen, your basketball knowledge and your basketball prowess, it don't really matter. It don't really matter. 23:28He in first. I am in first. That's what you're looking at, huh? You in first, Ocho?

23:35Shannon Sharpe:Look, the problem that you guys got is that the team that you guys picked, that y 'all lost, y 'all got them going, like, picking Sweet 16. So, yeah, I lost early, but I don't got them going any farther. Y 'all got them guys going Sweet 16, Elite 8. I got, I got, I got, I got, I got. That Joe, huh? That Joe. I got a little room. Joe picking all the big schools to go all the way to 18, 18, 18, 18, 18. No, no, no, no, no. Listen, I got, I got, I got a little room for, you know, a little, a little mistake here and there. I'm good. All right. All right. Listen, I, I, I, I picked my mascots. My mascots ain't gonna let me down.

24:20Shannon Sharpe:We're going to find out. We're going to see here shortly. West region, Miami. Look, Miami, you know, one year Miami went to the Final Four or the Elite Eight? I think it was Elite Eight. That's when they had Jim Laranega who ended up taking, I think he took George Washington to the Final Four one year. I think it was George Washington, UCLA, LSU, and somebody else because I remember going, it was in Indy, and I went to the Final Four matchup. Not the actual game. I went to the semifinals. Yeah, I think the past few years, they've been pretty good. What's my man's name who took over? His son, his dad played in the NBA.

25:06Lucas, John Lucas. His son is a head coach over there at the University of Miami. Okay. Wait, right now, Joe? Yeah, right now. He got them boys playing good ball. I think this is, if I ain't mistaken, Ocho, this is first year. I think this is his first year there. Okay. As head coach, I think. Yeah. But look, they should be pretty battle-tested.

25:31Shannon Sharpe:I mean, coming out of ACC, they're playing a very tough conference. I mean, obviously the selection committee, they always say that. What conference did you play out of? Who did you play? Who was your non-conference opponents? You know, they say all that. They say it matters. It don't matter if they want to get you in. It do matter if they don't want to get you in. If they don't want to get you in. So I don't know where to look. Hopefully you're on a nice conference and then you're able to play. I'm trying to see head coach. I mean, Miami only had eight losses this year playing in the ACC. They playing in a pretty good conference.

26:07Yeah. And Missouri in the SEC, they ain't no bad. They ain't no slouch. You know what I mean? Nah.

26:30Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Jai Lucas. That's who they're, Jai. Yeah. He took over for Jim Laranega.

26:43Yeah, he got them boys playing good ball.

26:45Shannon Sharpe:They're playing really good ball.

26:51Shannon Sharpe:Henderson, 15. Trey Donaldson had 17.

26:58Shannon Sharpe:But they lost some heavy minutes. But you know, in college, you get that, Joe. Them guys be playing that the whole game. Them guys definitely be playing 37, 38 minutes. Yeah. Hey, look, especially at this time. But you young. You can bounce back. Yeah. Yeah, and Miami top heavy with their starting five. you know, it ain't but a 40 minute game. I mean, you, I mean your best players, bro. You hope they can suck it up and still be able to, you know, continue to play through a little fatigue. I mean, like I say, man, guys ain't playing no more than six, seven dudes, man, in the NCAA tournament. Hey, they, hey, hey, Uncle Joe, they ain't really got no depth like that, how off the bench, huh?

27:37Shannon Sharpe:No, they didn't play. I mean, not that they were coming and making a difference. Not unless you're one of them top teams and you got like, you got four or five, five stars and you got three or four, four stars and a couple of three-stars, you can run some depth like that. But for the most part, your best guy is going to have to show the lion's share of the playing time. The whole game. Because you saw CNN, they started five all 40 minutes. That was the first time somebody had done that since DePaul did it. I think they said in 79. So that just lets you know they ain't got no depth. Right, right.

28:09Shannon Sharpe:And then plus, you're number 16 team going up against the number one seed, overall seed. You got to throw caution to the wind. I'm throwing everything I can against the wall. Something got to stick. Ain't really got no choice. You can't. When you play them number one seeds, man, you can't go in there timid. You got to go in there swinging. For real. I'm saying. Off the rip. You got to try to keep the game close early. Yeah. And you want to let them know. You want them to fear. You want them to know that you're there. Because once they sense a little fear, but the next thing you know you're gonna be down 15 points we saw that tonight with PV yeah I mean it was 15-15 you look up again it's 33-15 you look up again now they down 20 now they down 30 I mean 20 what were they down 39 and a half and the next thing you know they down 50 that wasn't even fair Joe hey look Dante who we had on the show that's why I tried to tell her I told him hey man Florida got some dogs Hey, they're just too big.

29:16Shannon Sharpe:They go 6 '10", 6 '9", 6 '11". I think the tallest guy that PV had was 6 '7". They just cleaned the clocks on the glass. I mean, just rebound after rebound after rebound. I think they got the number one rebounder in the NCAA. I can't remember his name. The big dude in the middle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But they defense. He might be a lottery pick. The tall white kid, right? Yeah, man, listen. Hey, hey, yeah. Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. Yes. I don't think it's no bigs in the country who can deal with them boys they got down there. Now, if they guards playing great, that's a bonus, Uncle Ocho.

29:55This is what you're going to get. They're going to beat you by 40, 50 points. Straight up, bro. Like, they got the total package, man. They got some, hey. Well, I'll tell you, Florida's scary. I'm glad they way across town over there. If we meet them, it's going to be in the championship game. Get back going to be a move.

30:10Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they're all on the opposite side.

30:17Shannon Sharpe:yeah Florida beat PV by almost 6 beat them by 59 but I mean we're not surprised by that I mean that's a very good team they were ranked very high in the regular season nah not 50 guys not 50 for them I mean not 50 Joe but no no no not first rounders not like that you see what You see what Purdue won by. They won by 33. Yeah. But look what they playing on. That's not fair. That's not, you playing Queens. You playing Queens. Like I said, you go 6 '10", 6 '9". That's your front court. And your tallest guy 6 '7". Man, they gonna kill you on the glass. I mean, and you can't. That's tough. And you know, PV got hot that early on from the three point line.

31:09Shannon Sharpe:And so you know they made it. They be bam, bam, bam, bam. But if you ever go cold, because you're not getting any second chances. And they're going to get second chance, a third chance, a fourth chance. And that's what happened. I mean, probably have to look at the rebounding. They probably got out-rebounded by 30. I mean, you get out-rebounded by 30, how many second chance points do you think that's going to yield? Easy. so yo

36:50You like the graphics team?

36:52Shannon Sharpe:Look at what the graphics, your graphics had today. Hey. What they? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know how many people part of the graphics team. Hey, they need a raise. I don't know what they make. Hey, they need a raise, boy. Hey, people been hitting me about the graphics team, bro. They're how amazing they are. Y 'all know how y 'all be coming up. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Joe. They did give you a little sunroof, Joe. Yeah, I know. They gave me a little sunroof. It's OK. They trying to hate. I ain't got no sunroof. I ain't. Hey, hey, hey. My headline ain't received, bro. Well, you want to be Larry?

37:26Oh, you want to be Larry? Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, which one am I? Larry.

37:39Shannon Sharpe:Well, I got to be Larry. You just asked which one were you. Then you talk about why you got to be him. Okay, let me ask you a question. Who would you like to be? The one in the middle, Moe. Okay. I want to be Moe. Next time we do it, we going to do Moe. But you not. We can't repeat the same graphic. We had a graphic team, man. They need a raise, aren't they? Everybody say you perfect for Larry, also. Yeah. Who, me? I mean, you know, it ain't nothing but a character, that's all. When that camera rolling, you know I turned it on now. Hey, Joe, you feeling good, Joe? Hey, I'm 100, baby. What's up?

38:24You sure? I'm 100. What's up? Talk to me. I'm just making sure you're good.

38:33Yeah, I don't think I ain't even over here working on my jab. I see you. I see you. Hey, with your hands all the way up there, you know your stomach and your ribs wide open.

38:43Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe, Ocho, Florida out rebounding PV by 34, 54 to 20. Oh, man. Yeah, hey, they got some dogs under that, huh? They got a big old tall kid. Hey, you know the only way PV could have won tonight, Joe and Unc? Big 33. They would have had to be a bingo, and they would have had to be so efficient from the field. I'm talking about super efficient where they couldn't even get the rebounds. And they killed them in assists. I think they probably – I think Florida probably had like 26 assists. I don't think PV had but like six assists. Bro, you can't win no games like that with no six assists. So, hey, Joe, they would have had to literally get up like 53s and probably have to make half of them to give themselves a chance.

39:25Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. Because they're so outgunned. UConn beat Furman 82-71. Tyrus Reed Jr. was too much for Furman. The 6 '11 center out-rebounded the Paladins all by himself, hauling in 27 boards to go with 31 points in an absolute dominant performance for UConn. The three-point shot wasn't falling for the Huskies, 5-25. But Reed is just the third player in the last 50 years to have a 30-20 rebounding game in an NCAA tournament game. The 30-25 in the NCAA tournament game since 1960. Elvin Hayes did it in the Elite Eight in 1968. Elvin Hayes also did it in the first round of Loyola Chicago. Elvin Hayes did it again.

40:11Shannon Sharpe:And so did Jerry Lucas in the Elite Eight. Jerry Lucas did it again. He was on that team. He was on that team with Jerry West, if I'm not mistaken, Lucas. No, Jerry West went to West Virginia. Bobby Knight might have been on that team.

40:28Shannon Sharpe:Wait, Bobby Knight, Bobby Knight? Look at the 1960s. 1960, I think Ohio State might have won the championship. They must have told Reed to get everything to come off the glass. That man had 27 rebounds. Elvin Hayes was a monster, Joe, at the University of Houston. He was one of the teams. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

40:55Oh, was it Hablachek?

40:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I was like, hold on. Yeah, Hondo, Havlicek went to Ohio State with Jerry Lucas and Bobby Knight was on that team. Jerry West went to West Virginia. But Elvin Hayes was a monster at the University of Houston. He was that team that ended up beating Kareem with his prior name when he wasn't Kareem then. And then Kareem came back and just wiped him out in the title game. But that's a phenomenal – I mean, in a college game? Yeah. In a college game? In a tournament game? I think Michael Beasley might have had a 30-20 game, his first game. Probably Shaq had won college, but I'm talking – this is the tournament.

41:47Shannon Sharpe:So, congratulations. That was a hell of a performance tonight. 12 or 15 from the floor, Joe. He was 31 points in 35 minutes, 12 or 15 from the floor. He didn't shoot any threes. He was 7-9 from the free throw line, 27 rebounds, 3 assists. He had 11 offensive rebounds. Damn. They had 18 offensive rebounds as a team. The Paladins had 4 offensive rebounds as a team. So you're going to be able to do so much. You keep letting teams get cracks at you on the offensive end, eventually they're going to get second chance points and they're going to start to pile up. So the Paladins had, you know, two guys with 20-plus points.

42:31Shannon Sharpe:They had another guy with 10. And I give them credit. They hung around for a long time. This game was really, really close. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, they was fighting. They was fighting. Great game with 27 boys. Man, they must have told him, hey, hey, anything come off that glass, we want you to go get it. We got to have it. Because guess what? They pay guys. They pay guys to do that. They pay guys to do rebounds. I was like, bro, you can make you a lot of money doing that. 31 and 27? That's a lot of boys. With no offensive output, Joe? Huh? Huh? With no offensive output? Hell, he had 31 points.

43:08He got 31 points. Oh, no, no, I'm just saying. Joe say they paying you just for, you know, grabbing rebounds. I mean, yeah. If you can rim run. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Play some people in Hardenstein.

43:18Shannon Sharpe:Hardenstein, he's a rebounding guy, offensive guy. He set great picks. I can teach you how to do that, Ocho. Yeah. Some people just have a knack for the ball. Dennis Rodman. How do you think Dennis Rodman got into the league? Oh, yeah. Dennis Rodman probably ain't having for about six points a game. But he's a seven, eight, nine-time rebound champ. Yeah. So, yeah, absolutely. You got to want it. And like I said, I can teach you how to sit. Hey, screen, that's all you need to be able to do, screen and rebound. Man, man. Get you a little chain in your pocket. That's it, bro. Yeah, get you, get you.

43:51Shannon Sharpe:Remember how you and I played? What the hell? We have a couple of guys on the team. All they can do is stop the run. They can't get no pass rush. Just stop the run. Right, right, right. We had Big Sam and Goose. Y 'all job, stop the run. Keep the guys off rate. Big Sam at him. You know Big Sam was over there with us too, huh? Yeah, he played with me in Baltimore for two years. Okay, okay, okay. He was in Seattle when I was in Denver. Big Ted Washington. I played with Big Ted Washington too. Big Keith Traylor. Big Ted. Yeah, I played with Baltimore. Okay, hey, them some big boys, bro. Oh my goodness.

44:27Hey, Big Sam, Big Sam will let you know he got the fastest step, he got the fastest first step of the game. Don't get him started.

44:34Shannon Sharpe:Talking about Shay, I beat you in a five. Yeah, if you going to the dinner table, that's the only place you gonna beat me to, man. Hey, Joe. What's up? Hey, Big Sam Adams had to be by what? By 350, three what? Easy. 350. Well, we don't really know, Because him and Goose didn't really wait. So he wouldn't wait because Goose wouldn't wait. Sam wouldn't wait. If Goose didn't practice, Sam wasn't going to practice. So, you know, Rex Ryan was our D-line coach at the time. So you got to realize that's now. Marvin was the D.C. Rex Ryan was the D coordinator. Jack Del Rio was the linebacker's coach. We had Steve Smitty that ended up coaching at Atlanta Falcons.

45:19Shannon Sharpe:He was on the defensive staff also. so that defensive staff was crazy crazy and you wasn't running the football I felt like no I don't know a whole lot else but I sure hope your game plan wasn't to have your guy rush for 100 yards because it wasn't happening I mean they didn't come close they didn't even give up in 16 games they didn't even give up a thousand total rush yards hold on they played on the line next to each other off the line so we they're pushing probably about they're probably pushing about i give them probably goose might have been about 330 sam probably about 345 350. they damn 680 damn near 700 between the two of them oh hey hey hey hey joe they ain't moving nowhere no absolutely you ain't gonna mean to move them nowhere it was just like when um hold on I think Big Ted and Trucker was in Chicago together.

46:24Shannon Sharpe:Because I played with Ted in 94. Ted was with me in Denver in 94. Trucker was with me 91, 92. Then he left. He was a linebacker. Ate himself into a nose tackle. Y 'all laughing he did. But hell, he wasn't making weight. That was the best thing that happened to him, is that he just told me to go ahead and get down to the three-point stand. Because he wasn't making weight at the linebacker. He ain't make weight not one time. Truck ain't make weight one time. Not ever. Hold on, so they make out, they make out, they made y 'all do weight and body fat too long? Not body fat, just weight. So we had to weight again every Friday.

47:08Shannon Sharpe:Every Friday was weight again. You get fined. Every pound you overweight. It's$50 a pound for every pound you overweight, And then it doubles the next week and then tripled and so forth and so. Hey, that's how Miami Heat work. Wait, hold on. You got to be a certain weight for basketball, Joe? Yeah, man. You got to weigh in every Friday. Oh, Joe. And depending on your position, whether you are big or you are small, you got to have a certain amount of body fat. You know what I mean? So you got to weigh a certain amount. You got to have a certain amount of body fat on what they would like. So, you know, if they want you at 6.5%, 7 % because you're a guard, then, boy, hey, they got a program for you.

47:49Okay, I understand. So if you're a big guy and maybe they want you at 10%, 9%, they got a program for you. Yeah. Look, Dan Reeves, we wait on on Friday.

48:05Shannon Sharpe:And, like, holidays, because, like, the holidays are like Thanksgiving. So he was like, okay, he would give you grace. But you waiting that Thursday, he's like, you know what? We gonna have weigh in on Friday too.

48:20Shannon Sharpe:I ain't no problem with the weight, but boy, you ought to see how many guys in that sauna. Ocho, you know what I'm talking about. How many guys in that sauna on Friday morning? Hey, trying to get that weight down. Hey, that's what I was saying. Hey, look, on Thursday, dudes be in the sauna. They don't even be eating. and they be like, we got weight and body fat tomorrow. I can't eat. Oh, damn. Out there practicing in that plastic. They got them sauna jackets on Joe out there practicing. Yeah. They in the sauna after practicing. And then Friday morning, they come there early, get on the bike, and then get in the sauna again.

48:55There you go. There you go.

48:57Shannon Sharpe:Hey, do all that? That was a routine, boy. That was a routine. But hey,$50 a pound, add up quick. You talking about$50 a pound, you three, four pounds over and it double the next week? Because it's only going to get harder as it gets colder. So if you overweight in September, October, what the hell you think will happen in November, December, and January?

49:21Shannon Sharpe:They got Ted listed at 375. He was about that. God damn! Ted, but see, here's the thing. Ted was like 6 '5". Ted was tall. And all he wanted to do was crack jokes. That's how it's going to do crack jokes. But don't get it mad. Don't get it mad. You got hell on your hands now. UCLA beat UCF 75-71. The Knights put up a fight with a late surge, but the Bruins walked away with a win at the finish and it was 13 steals, nine blocks to kickstart their transition offense. The Knights turned the ball over 17 times compared to eight for the Bruins and went just five of 16 from the free throw line. Damn.

50:02Shannon Sharpe:Donovan did 10 points, five of six, six steals, ran the show for UCLA. Daily title season high with 20 points. UCLA, Sky Clark lost a tooth in a fight for a loose ball. God damn. Man, that looked like a real jack-o-lantern. Oh, yeah, they got it. They got it where you can see the tooth falling out of it. Yeah, yeah, hey. As a matter of fact, I'm going to get me some porcelain. Ooh. You know what I'm saying, Ojo? I want that Mondo. I want some porcelain. What? Mondo? I want that real stuff. I want them real good teeth. Oh, like this? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got that porcelain. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

50:52Shannon Sharpe:I ain't gonna do it now. They won't do it now. Because he's got to be able to see it. Okay. Oh, yeah. Oh, man. Man, they got the two falls out of the mouth. This is a big game, huh? You too far out of his head, Joe? Man, I had seen that, bro. Like, oh my God. Right there on his chin, yeah. Damn.

51:18Yeah, like a hockey player now.

51:21Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he said, you know what? Don't just fix that one. Go ahead and fix these front four. Let's get this D line straight, Ocho. Yeah, get me right. Hey, ain't no sense of having one shiny white teeth. Right. Excuse me. And then the rest of them like, damn. Nah, you got to paint this whole fence, cuz. Hey, you done best. You got to paint the whole fence. They got to get it right. They got to get it right. Oh, man. But, hey, you got scrapping, guys. That's what it takes to win every loose ball. We saw LeBron do something we had never seen him do for a loose ball in order to get a win, right? Gavin, Gavin.

52:06Shannon Sharpe:So you imagine what he – and you're talking about a guy that's as accomplished as he is getting on the floor for a loose ball. I wouldn't be surprised if the coach says, hey, this is what it takes to win. I'm like, damn, that's what it takes to win? As a matter of fact, if we can win the next round, I might lose another two.

52:26Shannon Sharpe:Hey, them boys out there fighting for their life, man. Hell yeah. Hey, put it up on your pillow. Coach, drop him a little, drop him a little thigh up on his pillow. Two fairies. They did what the two fairies bought you.

52:39Shannon Sharpe:It was a good old day, man. Hey Joe, you remember when you pulled him, Ochoa, you pulled him teeth out, put that thing up under there. You get a quarter, 50 cent a dollar. I got a dollar. I got a dollar. Hey man, you know this happened when we little kids, Uncle Joe, like one thing that your parents always tell you is they tell you not to lie. but everything they told us was a lie. The truth fairy was a lie. Santa Claus was a lie. I mean, everything was a lie. I mean, then now y 'all get on me cause I be lying and capping. Well, hell it started when I was a goddamn shorty.

53:20Shannon Sharpe:And then if you don't put your tongue in it, a gold one would come. And when you get your tooth pulled, if you don't put your tongue in it, a gold one would come back there. Man, I tried so hard not to let my tongue touch that empty spot. You about like, damn it. Hold on, Unc. Hey, Unc, I know you used to do this. Remember when they used to tell you if you flip your eyelids, it's going to get stuck like that? Flip them up. Yeah, you flip them up. Hey, hey. My grandma, man, stop. Boy, if you don't stop flipping it before it gets stuck. Hey, y 'all ain't never heard of the one where they say if you don't go to sleep on Christmas Eve, Like he going to come throw ashes in your eye?

54:00For real? Yeah, it was hard for me to sleep on, you know, the night before Christmas, Ocho. I couldn't wait to get up and open some. I couldn't wait to get up and open my presents. So they're coming. Hey, if you don't go to sleep, boy, you know you're going to come put some ashes in your eyes. What?

54:15Shannon Sharpe:That all kind of sin. Every time I think about it, Joe, you know, maybe we were so performative, man. I'm putting out milk and cookies. I'm happy. My grandma, my grandma, my mama. No, just put three chocolate chip cookies. put some milk out there, you know, Santa gonna come down and we drop the presents off, you know, he gonna enjoy some milk and cookies. So, now that I think about it, as I get older, like y 'all really play me. Yeah, hey, hey, quiet as kept though, I'm repeating the cycle. I ain't gonna lie to you. Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm repeating it too. I ain't gonna lie to you. French fries swear.

54:51French fries swear to Santa Claus, boy.

54:54Shannon Sharpe:Don't tell her no different. uh oh i'm not i'm not i'm gonna let i'm gonna let enjoy it till she get old enough to understand they put out a little bit more money i might have pulled out all my teeth

55:09Shannon Sharpe:i'm about to put out hey that's it that's it is like damn hold on for one tooth i got 32 of these things yeah yo i know i started adding up back in this early family hold on man that's 16 16 50. Get a dollar off. It was always weird. I can make some real money. Oh yeah. Yeah. It was always weird when you lose a tooth though. That little space right there. Oh yeah, yeah. You definitely didn't want to lose that thing on the front. The side wasn't that bad, but man, I don't know why. That front in the front. Yeah. I should have, I should have did like my uncle. My uncle lost the tooth and my grandfather, Papa put a quarter up on his pillow.

55:53Shannon Sharpe:they had killed a hog like a week or so earlier threw the head out of the woods. He went and got a pair of plows and pulled out every tooth in the hog's head and put them up on this pillow. Man, stop it. He's saying, hey, oh, Joe, Joe, he's saying, if I got a quarter for what? How much you think I'd give for 40, 50? Right. Boy, my grandma said she went to make up the bed and say she, the sheep, and say, man, them teeth hit the floor. she said I shut down on his ass cause you know back then the more people didn't play they didn't play the drum they didn't play no kind of way with no kids all that back talking I don't know when this generation started about that back talking and being flip at the lip yeah I don't know what happened in the north I don't know what happened in the midwest I don't know what happened in the West.

56:53Shannon Sharpe:But I know in the South, where I drew up, that was a no-game. They ain't play that. Same thing over here. That was a no-game. You talk about talking back, you better make sure your facial expressions don't change either. What? You couldn't say lie. You better say you telling the tale. Fix your face. Ooh, that's a lie. He telling the tale?

57:24Shannon Sharpe:yeah you couldn't say that I don't know where these kids got that from that talking back and that that kiss in your teeth we call it yes yeah play around if you want to pop you right boy if you don't stop throwback. I understand because that's how they were raised. It was structured. Even my aunts and uncles, they were grown. It wasn't that. Whatever my grandfather said, just to keep the peace because they know how he was and you didn't ever want to get him to 10 because you got him to 10, it's going to take days, probably a week to get him down. Just whatever Barney said, just ride with it. He could be wrong.

58:16Shannon Sharpe:Just ride with it and keep it moving. but all that talking back, the Grants, like none of that play play, all that stuff. I don't know where the key, Joe Joe, I don't know where he can get that from. I don't know. Yeah. They like to play games now, Dave. Hang on camera, record you. Hey man, I don't wanna be on no TikTok. Don't be TikTok-ing me. No, I don't play that, I don't play. For real, for real. Oh, they was gonna do, what do you call them? Hey. You remember the show MTV Punk? Yeah, yeah. ask them cushion had it me hey try to get you hey kayla say don't do that my daddy y 'all know y 'all don't know my daddy my daddy hurt somebody hey uncle you would have snapped on him because i don't play like that i ain't no i mean god to tell you anybody that's ever i don't play like that

59:07Shannon Sharpe:no well i'm gonna make sure i get you down i'm gonna make sure i get you see hey well you better to make sure there ain't no cameras around because we're going to get canceled. Because I'm going to show you. I'm just going to go ahead and tell you. Nah, nah. But I think that's the thing, just like that's a Southern thing. And like I said, I don't know. Like I said, I didn't grow up anywhere else but the South. And I know everybody that I was around, their parents and grandparents didn't play like that. They ain't want all that joking and kiki-king and all that running in and out of the house and that loud talking, pop up asleep.

59:48Shannon Sharpe:Boy, you bet.

59:56Shannon Sharpe:Oh Lord, have a breath. Boy, it was, hey, it's funny, because when me and Spanky get together, we talk about how we grew up and listen to other people, how they grew up. I was like, y 'all got to do that? Y 'all can do that? you couldn't just go you couldn't just go Joe at my house like okay I'm gonna go fix me something to eat you had to ask you just couldn't go get it if something's in the refrigerator like real food if you want to make cereal that's fine but when it came to food food like rice and beans and chicken or something like that boy you better not go in that refrigerator and go in granny pot hey okay old Joe my auntie used to to shut the kitchen down.

1:00:40You couldn't even go in the kitchen. Yes. And like at the 930 bro. She was a military, military lady. She ain't play that. Military, hey at the nine o 'clock. No food. Don't take your ass in my kitchen. Yeah.

1:00:56Shannon Sharpe:But see that was the thing where we like going to our dad's moms. Cause she, cause they didn't, cause we didn't get to see them that often. So you know the parent is just like anything. The parent that don't get to see you that often, what they do Ocho. They overdue. Let's go get this, let's go get that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, whatever you want. So when Papa would tell me and Spanky, they pick up, we come off from school, I'ma take you to your grandma, he called William and Charlie. That was the name, but grandma and Charlie. Well, I'ma tell y 'all gonna spend the weekend. And we, hey, okay. Hey.

1:01:36Shannon Sharpe:Because if you pretended like you wanted to go, he might shut that down. Yeah. He might shut that all the way down. Man, as soon as we hit the dope, soon, hey, cause we gotta wait to see. Hey, you don't be giving them all that sweet, so forth and so on. Boy, hey. Man, Spanky, we look around that coat and soon as that joker turned down and hit that left and getting up out of there. Grandma Charlie, we want to go to the store. Here y 'all go. Bring me my purse, boys. Get that purse. Here's a dollar. Push that door over me. Let's make it push that door over. Down to the store. And Saturday, they wait till we get there, and we going grocery shopping.

1:02:21Shannon Sharpe:That's the only time you put stuff in the buggy. Because Mary Porter wouldn't let you put ish in that buggy in Glenville. He wasn't putting nothing in granny buggy. Grandma Charlie, get what you want. Boy, man I got Fruit Loops, I got Apple Jacks, I got Diggle Snacks, I got Honey Buns, I got Chips, we get Hot Dog. Yeah. What? Hey. Hey, Uncle Joe, you know what it felt like back then, especially when you was a little kid, and you get a dollar, maybe two dollars, and let's say you get five, you get$5? Boy, you know what that feel like as a kid, boy? I don't know if y 'all had a joke. You had a candy lady house where you from?

1:03:04Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Man, you get about two, three dollars for doing your chores from your grandma, man. And you go to the candy lady house, man. I get some lemon head, get some baked beans, man. Get some goddamn, I don't know if y 'all eat pickle eggs. You eat pickle eggs, Joe? Oh, you talking about lemon head like this?

1:03:22Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, yeah. Well, how you got them, huh? You know, I keep a little candle over there. I got a little candle over there. Hey Joe, I used to get the pickle eggs and the hot sauce in Joe. Yeah. Man, couldn't tell me nothing. Give him a little jungle juice. Jungle juice. Yeah, that Tahitian treat. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Sometimes I go to the store, Ocho, just to get the 25 gallon jungle juice. Yeah, I get all that. Yeah. But you know back then, Ocho, candy was a penny. You get penny candy. So you get 50 pieces of candy for 50 cents. How much was chips back then? How much was a little bag of chips? 15 cents, 20 cents, 25 cents?

1:04:01Shannon Sharpe:15 cents. Because you know, like - It used to be - We used to go ham. Field day, you got those wise potato chips. Had a little owl on the bag, the little bag. So that was like 15 cents. But Lay's was like 20, you get Lay's for like 25 cents. Coca-Cola was 25 cents. Honey bun was 25 cents. So, oh yeah, the stuff was cheap back then. So a dollar went a long way. Boy, Grady would give, Grady and Papa would give us$5.250 for me to You think it was Spanky? See Spanky would save his money. I ain't saving nothing. Boy, don't spit it all in one place. Well, you would've taken me multiple places. Cause you taking me to one place, it's gone, right?

1:04:39Hey, listen, it wasn't nothing like getting that honey bun, cracking that thing over, putting it in the microwave. Microwave, 11 seconds, Joe. About 10 seconds. 11, 11 seconds. Y 'all had a microwave? Yeah. Look, look, look. Hey, I'm talking about at the corner store, at the store. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And you have a microwave and you warm that thing up. Hey, ain't nothing like, hey Joe, have you ever had the big Texas cinnamon rolls that come in the purple package? Man, come on, stop playing. And you put them in the microwave and everybody left it. Hey, them little Swiss pecan rolls.

1:05:13Yeah, yeah.

1:05:15Shannon Sharpe:Boy, I remember them honey, boy, hey, that truck driver steak. That's what they call honey bars in the South, truck driver steak. Cause you see them truckers, they hopped out of that truck, They go get a honey bun, they go get some chips, and they go get a Coke. Hop back up in the hook, hit that roll. Oh, the Viena sauce, you know Viena sauce, you remember they had the Viena sausages, and then they came with the big can. Cause the small can had about seven in them, the big can had about 14. Now you big wheelie, you get the 14 cans. You get that big, big can, I don't know if they still make the big cans like that.

1:05:46And them sardines, you eat sardines, Joe?

1:05:51Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I still eat them. The sardines, and then they came out with the sardines with the mustard in there. Yeah. I ain't never had that. What? You ain't eat sardines, Ocho? Nah, I ain't never had that. Hey, them good omega-3s for you, bro. They fatty now, Ocho. They fatty. What do they mean? That's the fattest fish. That's the fattest fish you could eat at sardines. Okay, okay, okay. But they eat them. But they good. They small. they small fish they they bigger than they're small they i ain't had sardines i mean i don't think i had sardines since since i left glenville eating with eating with some crackers some little white sartine cracker yeah i don't know boy hey that's a go-to right now why y 'all playing no i had no sardines i had no buying the sausages i had none of that i had nobody inside buy some sardines see see ocho see you don't got outside yourself you don't eat like that no more who no no no every everything else i name i still eat but hey um if i might grab my house and i hear that ice cream truck coming around the corner well i'm shooting outside but i can still get my pickle egg i can still get my eggs and my hot sauce off the ice cream truck hey hey boy you are running that ice cream truck down ain't you man down you hear me yeah the guy used to come by I sell fruit, fruit, name Mr.

1:07:13Shannon Sharpe:Lester Denson. I never forget. He sell he had bananas, he had apples, oranges, pears. Man, and he drove the school bus because we road bus school bus 31. He drove bus 32. Man, Mr. Lester Denson come out there. Woo, man.

1:07:31I have some good days, boy. I have no worry in the world.

1:07:34Shannon Sharpe:Didn't realize how broke you were because everybody else was broke just like you. There you go. There you go. There you go. Real talk. You had like, damn. And I look back now, they're talking about, oh, the poverty. Yeah, yeah, we way below poverty. We way below. I don't know what poverty was, but we was below that. So whatever poverty. Okay, there's poverty right here. So what's this right here? We below that. We below that. But when everybody eating what you eating, doing the same thing you're doing, you don't think about it. It wasn't like nobody had getting new cars or had all this other, this lavish stuff.

1:08:13Shannon Sharpe:Ain't nobody had nothing like that. Made you appreciate everything that you got. There you go. Everything that you got.
