So as we officially count down, you'll see it as we add a subscriber. You'll see it click right there on your screen. So we are officially on the clock to$2 million, fellas. That's what's up, man. Joe Ocho, Calum Murray signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings that will pay him$1.3 million.
6:52Shannon Sharpe:Remember, he's just done a tick under$37 million, still guaranteed from the Arizona Cardinals, which has already been guaranteed. Murray has thrown 121 touchdowns, 60 interceptions, and 32 rushing touchdowns in seven NFL seasons. That's been plagued by injury. Ocho, are we going to see another Sam Darnold story situation? The resurgence, a rebirth. We saw that with also with Geno Smith. He leaves the Jets and has a resurgence. We see that with Sam Darnold. He leaves the Jets and has a resurgence. Can Kyler Murray parlay that success? Now, the success that Sam Darnold is unprecedented because he had 14, won 14 wins with Minnesota.
7:32Shannon Sharpe:He leaves Minnesota, goes to Seattle, wins another 14 games and he wins the Superbowl on top of that. Can we see that type of resurgence from Kyler Murray?
7:42Joe Johnson:I think so. And I think not only is he going to have that resurgence, we're going to understand why situations matter. Where you go matters. The supporting cast, what they put around you, what they surround you with also matters. And it's very imperative for a quarterback success based on the weapons that's put around him. If you look at all the quarterbacks, you look what Sam Donald was able to do. You look what Daniel Jones was able to do from going for the New York Giants and going to the Annapolis Colts, not winning a Super Bowl, but seeing the trajectory he was on and how he changed that franchise around in such a short amount of time because of the weapons that were around him.
8:15Joe Johnson:I think Kyler Murray is going to shock a lot of people. I see some of the jokes that are flying, you know, about his height, about him being short. I mean, that has nothing to do with playing the quarterback position, especially when you have elite talent around you like he has there.
8:30Shannon Sharpe:Hey, yeah. This is my pick for Kyler Murray from the start. When we first started talking about this, Uncle Ocho, and I was telling you, I was like, man, because Ocho was like, he wants to see Kirk Cousins go back. I'm like, nah, I want to see Kyler get a chance to, you know, have some awesome weapons, play with some great players, and I think he'll be great in that offense, And it's not just for a drop-back passer, but a guy who can improvise back there and make something when it's nothing. You know what I mean? I love Kyler in this situation. I think he's going to have much success. You know, I know some Vikings fans, they happy.
9:04So good luck to him, man.
9:06Shannon Sharpe:I'm looking forward to seeing this young dude get back to him. I don't know if you know this, but if you're going to be hard-pressed to find a quarterback that's had better weapons than Kyler Murray, you know who he started with? Ladd Fitzgerald. Is Ladd Fitzgerald going to the Hall of Fame, Mocho? And then he's at DeAndre Hopkins. Is DeAndre Hopkins any good? And then he threw Trey McBride. Is Trey McBride any good? He's the best in the league. And now he has Justin Jefferson. So you're going to be hard-pressed, Ocho, to find a quarterback that's had more stable weapons than what he's had. His only issue is, and I've said this from the very jump, he is a small man.
9:39Shannon Sharpe:Injuries have plagued him. I mean, LeBron, when you're 190 pounds, okay, let's just say for the sake of argument, Ocho and Joe, he's 200. 200 at 5 '9", 5 '10". So when they hit you, you hit the dirt, they fall on top of you. So that has been his problem, his being able to stay healthy. I believe if he stays healthy, guys, I agree with you guys. I think he can play really, really well. But that is a big if. That's the caveat. That is the question. Can he stay healthy? Because over his seven years, he has not been able to do that, Ocho.
10:17Joe Johnson:Right. Yeah. I mean, obviously he hasn't Injuries, obviously, you know, that's a part of the game It's a part of the game and hopefully Being that he's able to Improvise like Joe said Being that he's able to play off script So well and he doesn't have to Hold the ball that long because of the weapons That are surrounding him. Now you name some great Individuals, some great individuals, DeAndre Hopkins You know, Larry Fitzgerald I forgot AJ Green played that too, Didney Ocho What? Oh, that's right, he sure did but listen we're speaking to individuals right you know in singular form so now you have multiple of those same type of weapons you know Justin Jefferson one of the best top three in the NFL TJ Hawkinson one of the better tight ends also in NFL Jordan Addison you know who I think if he was another team he could be he could almost be a one you know he's borderline one slash two.
11:16Joe Johnson:He can get it done too. I'm excited for him as long as the play calling and the coaches play to Kyler Murray's strengths and find a way to hide whatever weaknesses he may have. If that might be a height, so be it. There are ways around that. We've seen Baker Mayfield do it. Baker Mayfield also shortened height. He's had much success.
11:36Shannon Sharpe:Baker Mayfield has been able to stay on the field. I think you went out, Ocho. You came in? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I think the thing is, Ocho, is that, again, Baker's been able to stay healthy. Kyler has to be – your best ability, no matter whether it's armed, whether you can run 4-2, it doesn't matter. You have a huge catch radius. You can block the guy out of the film. Vailability is the best ability because it doesn't have you do any good. If you've got a huge catch radius, you can score all these points. You can throw for 500 yards if you're on the sideline. I've never seen a guy complete a pass from the sideline.
12:13Shannon Sharpe:I've never seen one catch a touchdown, get a sack, or block anybody or run a touchdown. So his thing is he's going to have to find a way to stay on the field. Don't be afraid. Know when the journey's over. Throw that blink on and get out of bounds. Blinkle, blink, blink, blink. I'm right up out of bounds. Slide down on that turf. You were a baseball player. You're the number eight pick in the draft. Slide. You don't have to look. Once you get to this level, guys, sometimes guys try to prove how tough they are. You don't get to this level without having some level of toughness. I'm going to pick and choose when I display that toughness.
12:48Shannon Sharpe:Hey, a fourth down, we got to have it? Got it. Third down, got to have it on Joe? Got it. But, hey, first or second down, we ain't got to have that. We got a third. We got a second down and a third down to get that on Joe. And Joe, no, sir. I think that's the thing that Kyler has to do. He has to stay on the football field. But injuries, you know, be it knee, be it ankle. I think he tore his ACL, Ocho. He had some shoulder issues. He's had some issues that he's going to have to get resolved in order for him to be the type of player, because we've seen flashes of it. Rookie of the year, a pro bowler.
13:25Shannon Sharpe:So we've seen that he's more than capable. He has the ability, even at his small stature. He can get the job done. He just needs to be on the field more often in order to do it. Absolutely. What does this mean for JJ?
13:42Shannon Sharpe:hey what you mean hey hey you took it as a top 10 pick ocho
13:50Joe Johnson:I told you what I told you yesterday you said it hey if you don't win the job if Kyler Murray goes to the Minnesota Vikings for one he's not going to beat out JJ McCarthy excuse me he's going to beat JJ McCarthy out let's start there when Anthony Richardson was with the Indianapolis Colts and they brought Daniel Jones in on a one-year? What did that tell you?
14:16Shannon Sharpe:Insurance.
14:17Joe Johnson:It's the same deal. It's the same deal. I mean, those that understand this business and understand how things work and how things operate, Kyler Murray with his back against the wall on a one-year deal for vet minimum, even though the Cardinals owe him$38 million, he finna play all balls to the wall. You hear me? He gonna have a great season. How could you not? If Sam Donner can do it,
14:39Shannon Sharpe:I agree with you.
14:40Joe Johnson:If Sam Donald can do it, so can goddamn Kyler Murray. I'm not saying Sam Donald, obviously a Super Bowl winning quarterback, but again, situations matter. What he did in Minnesota while he was there, Kyler Murray can repeat that just in a different way because it's a different kind of quarterback.
14:56Shannon Sharpe:Baker Mayfield is another one that had success after leaving a situation. We saw him leave Cleveland. We saw him leave Carolina. He goes to the Rams for one game, have success, and he's had success. Kind of took a little step back. Maybe There were some injuries. Mike Evans missed a large chunk of the season. Buka ends up tweaking his hamstring. He wasn't the same player. But we've seen Baker have the resurgence and look more than adequate. Looks like a playoff win, even though he did win a playoff game when he was in Cleveland. So I think my only concern is that knowing this offense, you're going to probably have to do a little bit more stuff on the move, Ocho, because you've got to get him outside.
15:37Shannon Sharpe:Because he is small. I mean, if you try to make him just throw the ball from the pocket, he's going to be hitting linemen in the ass with the football because he ain't but so tall.
15:47Shannon Sharpe:So, but the thing is that you can do is that you can. Hey, run some boots with him. Go ahead, old Ocho. You can run some boots. You can run play fakes. Look, you can throw between linemen. It wasn't like Drew Brees was 6 '5". And he had the second most touchdowns, the second most passing yards, the most 5 ,000-yard passing seasons in NFL history. Kyler Murray is plenty good enough to get it done if he can stay on the field. I agree.
16:18Joe Johnson:A lot of people, Joe and Unk, they always talk about his height. And obviously, when it comes to the game of football, even if you're short, it's all about finding those windows. It's all about finding those windows and throwing in space, throwing receivers open. So as long as his anticipatory skills are on point, I think they'll be able to do some drop back stuff. Matter of fact, he doesn't even need to be dropped back. Have him in the goddamn gun. Oh, yeah, yeah. Give him an advantage in having him in the gun so he doesn't have to worry about, you know, what's in front of him.
16:46Shannon Sharpe:Well, I think he might take a snap from under center. Most of these guys, I mean, if it's, what, fourth down, Ocho, they're up under center. But for the most part, damn, everybody in the gun now. Yeah, yeah. I'm trying to think who mainly takes a lot of – I think Ben Johnson makes his guys. I think Ben Johnson there might be. Kyle Shanahan might be. That system, you spend a lot of time up under the center. But for the most part, now, these guys are in, you know, they got zone read stuff calling. They're taking shotgun snaps. Yeah. Yeah. Kyler said he grew up a diehard fan of the team and cried when Brett Favre threw an intercession in the 2009 championship game.
17:28Shannon Sharpe:Genuine fandom, ran deep. Vikings gear through and through. A lot of purple in my household. I mean, consider he's a Texas kid, you'd have thought the Cowboys, you'd have thought the Houston Texans, but he said, hey, I'm a vice.

17:44Joe Johnson:I mean, everybody has a story. Everybody has a story. For some reason, when they go to a new team, for some reason - That was their favorite team, Bocho? That was their favorite team for some reason. Listen, if I see a picture of Kyler Murray and some Minnesota Vikings stuff when he was a little kid, I bleed out.
18:06Shannon Sharpe:we definitely were Steelers fans in my household because I took a picture I think it might have been third grade in a Franco Harris jersey yeah this is going to be perfect time for Calum all he has to do is just play well you see what Daniel Jones did he took a one he took a one year deal 14 million but he had had the guaranteed money when he went to Minnesota because of the Giants. So now he took the one-year deal. Hey, who knows? He can get a$50 million guarantee deal next year, a two-year deal worth$100 million. He can get one of those Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold's deal, three years plus incentives.
18:49Shannon Sharpe:I think Sam Darnold maxed out about$4 million, $5 million in incentives plus an easy 30. So that's$35 million. So he's more than capable. And he had a big deal. Yeah. So not any. He can't be no more than like 28. I mean, 28.
19:08Joe Johnson:Yeah, he going to get another one. Hey, listen. He definitely going to get another one. Think about it. Think about it. You have to be really bad. You have to be really bad to have that kind of support in cash, Joe, and still stink it up. Yeah. You just do.
19:24Shannon Sharpe:No, you got to be really, really bad if you're a quarterback and you can't find gainful employment. You got to really suck, Ocho, because you know how many opportunities. I mean, quarterbacks got like a cat. They got nine lives. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's not like other positions. After like a couple of teams, you bounce around, Ocho. Man, you find yourself in the USFL. I mean, the UFL. Yeah. A quarterback. Quarterback go like Sam Jersey hung up on his wall. All of them he is. Uh-huh. Hey, listen. Due to what Ocho said, you know, with his back being against the wall, You know what I mean?
20:02Shannon Sharpe:He really got to show up this year. I mean, this is basically a one-year deal, especially if you want to continue to be a starting quarterback. He got to show him what he got. I think he'll put his best foot forward, man. He's tough. He can play, man. Just sometimes perfect timing. You know, timing situations, different guys. You know, just somehow, someway, sometimes it pans out for the right reasons. Well, Joe, you were doing football season. They played the Cowboys, and they had beat the Cowboys, but Jacoby Brissett started. I say, Ocho, Kyler Murray going to be hurt a little longer, and I'm not so sure he going to get that job back when he's healthy.
20:39Shannon Sharpe:And I'd be damned if the coach didn't come out and say, Jacoby Brissett's going to carry it all the way. Once you saw that, you know it's just a matter of time. Here's the number one overall draft pick. He's supposedly healthy, and you mean to tell me Jacoby Brissett, and you know Jacoby Brissett is not going to take you anywhere, but you feel he gives you the best chance to win, Ocho? You know Calum's going after this year.
21:02Joe Johnson:Yeah, absolutely. And Jacoby was dealing. He was. Joe and Uncle. Boy, Jacoby was dealing, putting up crazy numbers. He wasn't winning no games, but he was dealing. He was dealing. And you found out a lot about Michael Wilson.
21:14Shannon Sharpe:He can play. He can play. Hey, Marvin Harrison Jr., you got to get on your game. Because just because they drafted you to be number one, the number one, Michael Wilson is playing like the number one.
21:27Joe Johnson:Yeah. I think he's going to be alright he's just got to get out of his head he's got to get out of his head and you know what I don't like I'm not a fan of it when Marvin Harrison Jr. was at Ohio State he had somewhat of a slender frame and then he went into offseason he bulked up and he was huge I'm like
21:48Shannon Sharpe:you think that took a little bit of his elusiveness away I think so
21:54Joe Johnson:when you get that big it takes something away from you obviously you're a lot stronger you're a lot stronger but i think for for for him and and what made him great at what he did at ohio state you know he was a lot more fluid and uh a lot more graceful than what he does but when you put on that kind of that kind of muscle yeah
22:13Shannon Sharpe:you know just i don't know yeah i agree with jojo i i can't say i can't say that you know his slender florent frame um he's bigger than his dad now his dad wasn't any size but he's a lot I mean, he's a much larger man than what his dad was. And so I don't know, Ocho. And maybe he thought that's what he needed. Maybe he thought the physicality, because the NFL game is a lot more physical. You've got to be able to play through contact. People don't just let you run freely. They're going to see. They're going to test it now. I got to see if you can play through this contact. Once they find that you can't play through contact, they're going to sit right down in the chair in front of you.
22:52Shannon Sharpe:Hey, they're in your face every time. They ain't going nowhere. You got to prove it. You got guys all of a sudden, Ocho, ain't got no damn business up in press coverage trying to press because they don't think you can, hey, we get that. Everybody get a scouting report. Yeah. What he can do, what he likes to do, what he likes to run on this side, what he likes to run on that side, his best routes. So, they're going to have to figure it out. But I hope Kyler can stay healthy. And I agree with everybody. I think we're all unanimous up here. if he's healthy, J.J. McCarthy's not beating him out. Yeah, I agree.
23:32Shannon Sharpe:Not a chance in hell. That boy can play.
23:35Chad Johnson:We're lost. It feels like we're going round in circles. I'm going to ask that man for directions. Hi there. We're trying to get to the state fairgrounds. 28:19Shannon Sharpe:Mike Evans spoke on why money was not the biggest factor in his decision to sign with the 49ers. It was just about football, something that I can be excited about. Every time I come to Levi's Stadium and see how the crowd is, I see the energy that brings, and I see the rich history of the San Francisco 49ers. It just excites me. So I feel like I'm giving me a second chance, I mean, excuse me, a second win in my career, and that's why I chose to come here. I want to show that I'm still who people believe that I am and that I'm one of the best to ever do it.
28:50Joe Johnson:I like that. What do you think, Ocho? I like it. I love it. And the funny thing about it is you think about what Mike Evans did 11 years straight. He let 1 ,000-yard seasons, right? He misses one this year due to injury. But where can he go where they throw in high volume, much more than he do in Tampa Bay, and will put him in positions, you know, to be a help offensively? Think about all the one-on-one situations he's going to get because they have Christian McCaffrey in that backfield. Think of all the mismatches he's going to get because of Christian McCaffrey in that backfield, along with the other supporting cast as well.
29:28Joe Johnson:But the genius of Brother Shanahan in being able to do what he can do offensively, it's a match made in heaven for Mike Evans. And things are going to come a little easier for him offensively over there as opposed to over in Tampa Bay. Right.
29:45Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I think it's going to be great for him, Uncle Ocho. So, you know, a guy, you know, probably has somewhat of a little resurgence. You know, I know he has some injuries due to some injuries that he had this year. He wasn't able to get to 1 ,000 yards, so I'm sure he's ready, you know, to get back to being a 1 ,000-yard receiver and just show he's one of the top receivers in the league. So I think it's a good look for him. Another guy that's going to have to stay healthy. We've seen over the last couple of years, Ocho, he's dealt with hamstring injuries. This year he had a shoulder injury. And I think the thing is, Joe, and you could attest to this, playing as long as you play in the NBA.
30:19Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you not so much because you didn't have injuries. As you get older, you get nicked. The nicks that would normally keep you out a day or two now all of a sudden keeps you down a week or two. And the injury that used to keep you down a week or two keeps you out a month or two. And that's what we see happening to Mike Evans. We saw two years ago, Ocho, he came up. He got the 1 ,000 yards at the end. And you see injuries with greater regularity. And they keep you down for extended periods of time. Go ahead, Ocho.
30:48Joe Johnson:Yes. No, I was agreeing with you. That's all. Yeah. I was agreeing with you.
30:52Shannon Sharpe:And so, I get it. This is not a good look. I mean, Tampa, they were in prime position. They went 2-7 in their last nine games. They went 2-7 in their last nine games.
31:04Joe Johnson:Mm-hmm. They had a four or five-game skid, Uncle Joe. Boy, they look good. You hear me? Yeah. Ibuka went crazy for like, what, a four-week stretch? I mean just going dumb and all of a sudden the goddamn bottom I'm not sure what happened
31:21Shannon Sharpe:Mike Eby was already out Chris Godwin I think one of the running backs got Nick their problem was defensively they couldn't generate pressure I don't care how good I don't care give a damn who calling the plays you can't generate a pass rush you're not winning in this league these teams are too good even if they don't have name receivers you better put pressure on that quarterback If you don't put pressure on the quarterback, the average quarterbacks will pick you apart. Yeah. And as the words of John Gruden, the great quarterbacks will gut you. Yeah. So Tampa, I don't know. They got to get pressure.
32:02Shannon Sharpe:Guys, they got to be able to dial up pressure. I think Todd Bowles is a great defensive mind, and you saw what he did when he was in D.C., but look at the guys that he had that pressure. Yeah. They don't have that anymore. They don't have that anymore. They get guys here and there. They can win. But you got to win more often than not. And a lot of times, guys, you got to win your one-on-one battle. I can't scheme up everything. At some point in time, Joe, go get me a bucket. I can't run a pick for you. I can't run no pick for you. I can't run a pin down or a flare to have you come up anything.
32:37Shannon Sharpe:I just want to put the ball in your hands. You go get to your spot. Rise up and shoot over somebody. Oh, Joe, I'm sorry. I can't bunch the formation. I can't put nobody in zip motion. I'm just going to put you two yards outside the numbers. What you like? You like the out? You like the dig? You like the curl? You like the over? What do you – you like the bang? But I need you to go win for me. And sometimes that's what it takes on the defensive side. Miles, I'm sorry. We can't run no ET. I need you to line up, get a yard, two yards outside the left tackle, and I need you to get home, son.
33:08Joe Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. You know what's funny, Uncle Joe? Hey, Joe, and the way Unc just explained that too, when you talk about some of the elite players in the league, only the elite players can do what he just said. Only the elite players can do. You know what? I don't need my coach's help this time. Hell nah. Coach tell you, I need you to get it done for me right here.
33:25Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
33:26Joe Johnson:I don't have no tricks. I don't have no scheme. I don't have no tactics. I need you to line up, and I need you to get from point A to point B as fast as you can, no matter who's in front of you. Just get it done.
33:37Shannon Sharpe:It's only if you can do that. Hey, not only that, I need you to do that in the postseason on call too. Absolutely. It's only a few who can do that, fellas. It's only a few. Ain't nothing like when they come down there with the sheets on there. Hey son, what you like? Yeah, that's it, yeah. What you like? What I like?
33:57Joe Johnson:And my first answer to that, what you like? Anything. Whatever you call.
34:02Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, hey.
34:03Joe Johnson:Anything, what you call?
34:05Shannon Sharpe:Just give me the rock and y 'all get y 'all ass out the way. That's what y 'all do. Get y 'all ass out the way. Whatever you call with 84 is the first option. that's what I like I got you
34:16Shannon Sharpe:I like that yeah anyway hey listen for me it was anyway I can get my ball I can get my hands on that ball I'm talking about in the postseason you playing in the playoffs it's game five game six they already know what you running it's like hold on man just give me the damn ball y 'all get out the way I'm gonna handle it from here don't even worry about it I'm doing too much. Cause y 'all bunch in the formation. Nah, hell nah. Somebody get jammed and I get, now all of a sudden I can't get my stride and you all in the way. Hey, throw everything off. Hey, now let's go two by two. Put me in the slides, you can join.
34:55Shannon Sharpe:As a matter of fact, get a little wider.
35:00Shannon Sharpe:Cause man, you know sometimes people get pressed. Now all of a sudden everybody jammed up and they done threw the whole damn time of the thing on. Yeah. Hey, oh yeah. Nah, nah, don't come send no pick, cause your damn man gonna trap me. I got a passer. Get back. Hey Joe. Get back.
35:18Joe Johnson:Hey Joe, what's y 'all signal for ISO when you call ISO?
35:22Shannon Sharpe:Shit, you don't have to wait. Joe wave him off. Uh-uh, uh-uh, no, don't break. Clear, clear, clear, clear, clear. Shit. Man, flat. Get flat. Just get flat. Don't worry about that now. I got the rest. Oh, you like that one phone flat, Joe? One, four, flat. Hey, get flat, flat, yeah. Josh, get your ass in the corner over there. Don't move. Hey, and don't worry about it. I ain't going to kick it to you for no three. I'm going to the – I'm getting the last spot on this one. I'll get you next time around. But you know what? But that's what you have to have. You have to have – you got to have a couple of players that no matter what you call Ocho, you feel they can win.
36:04Shannon Sharpe:And the quarterback feel you can win. He's got to feel – look, everybody, he's like, Oh, I got whoever's open. They lying. They're lying. They got a guy that they know nine times out of 10. I'm going to give him. I'm going to give him the first.
36:19Joe Johnson:Man, why don't you go to go where?
36:25Shannon Sharpe:Because I already know. I already know what I got with Ocho. Ocho getting first deals. Unless that guy wide ass open and everybody done fell down and pulled a hamstring. I'm not throwing you that ball. I'm not. Ain't no sense to be lying. Hey. Hey, guys, we in college. We were in college. We were playing Central Florida. I'll never forget. I was a sophomore. Coach Turner, Coach Davis called a timeout. Our office coordinator was Coach Turner. And he came and said, hey, come here. I was going to call his first name. Name was Ruben. He's like, hey, come here, son. I want you to run hard. You're going to be wide open.
37:09Shannon Sharpe:Now, we're about to call 6-5-6. I want you to run hard. You're going to be wide open now. Hey, you know he got a long running shoulder, Ochoa Joe. He said, I want you to run hard because you're going to be wide open. You're going to be wide open. He pushed him in the game. He told the quarterback, don't you throw that ball to that damn boy.
37:36Shannon Sharpe:I said, man, I wonder how often coaches have ever said that. Tell you one thing, Ocho, and then as soon as you leave, look, you throw that ball to that damn ball. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it happen all the time. It happen all the time, trust me. Oh, man.
37:51Joe Johnson:Boy, that was a day, man.
37:52Shannon Sharpe:I was like, Lord.
37:53Joe Johnson:Hey, boy, hey. Hey, you jogging back memories. You jogging back memories. Hey Joe, remember I always used to be mic'd up. You know, you mic'd me up. Joe, we didn't even have prime time games. They still put a mic on me because ain't no telling what I was going to say. Hey man, just - What you going to do? We'd be in the middle of the game. Hey, we'd be in the middle of the game and I'm not getting no action. And I pick up the phone. You know, Bob Bukowski was our offensive coordinator at the time, Joe. I put up the phone, you know, second quarter. I ain't touch the ball in the first. I put up the phone.
38:31Hey, Coach Brett, he said, what you see out there? I say, listen, I can see a lot of things.
38:37Joe Johnson:But you know, I'm like life insurance, huh? You know, I ain't no different than birth control. So either one of them, you know you can count on them. I ain't no different than that. And I leave it at that because I don't want to be aggressive with it. I hate that. Come on now. Hey, come on now. Ocho, don't you - One whole quarter, I don't touch a ball?
38:56Shannon Sharpe:Come on, man. But y 'all see, Joe, y 'all didn't have no phones. See, we got phones. Don't you hate when they call down, sharp telephone, tell them I ain't in. You ain't throw me no damn ball. You ain't been throwin' me no ball. What the hell? What the hell? What you wanna talk to me for? What we talk about? Ocho, what we talking about? Hey, what they be wanting to talk to y 'all about? Hey, try to calm you down. What you say? Try to calm you down.
39:22Joe Johnson:That's it.
39:23Shannon Sharpe:What we practice. They see you, bitch. That's exactly what I see. What we practice. Yeah. You know, hey, because I know how I am. Once I get going, it's hard to get me to stop off the ledge, so I had to do everything I possibly could not to get going. So I try to, like, nah, I ain't good. I don't want to talk right now. I don't want to talk. Hey, hold on. hey, what you told him?
39:53Joe Johnson:What he asked you? What you see? What you said? Same thing I saw in practice.
40:01Shannon Sharpe:That's what I see. But don't worry about it. So I say, hey, just tell him to come to the phone for a second. No, tell him I ain't in. I run right on back on the field. I'll get you next time around. Because you know everybody can hear. You know the head coach can hear the conversation. So just to make sure, hey, nah, man. Hey, when you get to that level of positivity, though, boy, it's hard to calm you down, boy. It is, man. It is. It ain't nothing that they can say. Y 'all ain't threw me a ball all half. You know what I'm saying? They ain't ready to play my way all game. What you want to talk to me for?
40:39Shannon Sharpe:I already – They try to gas you up. Man, you did a hell of a job on that power. Hey, Ocho, that's a way to blocking that 18 strong. Man, man, get the hell up out of here. That damn 18 strong. Man, y 'all ain't payin' me no damn money to be blockin' no 18 strong and no 16 power. Man, throw me the effin' ball. Hey, look. Hey, look, that's equivalent to a cat ain't played the whole first half, but coach come down there instead of tappin' him tight. Stay ready, stay ready now. We gon' need you. For what? Man, come on, man. Come on. You gon' throw me in in the fourth quarter with the intensity through the roof?
41:11Shannon Sharpe:You ain't played me all game, but you expect me to come in and get you good money. Come on, man. Oh, hey, Joe, and then when I miss two shots, you snatch me out. Tell me, hey, tell me, hey. Who you got? Oh, hell no. Hey, listen. In real time, I've been sitting over here an hour and 45 minutes, man. Real. And, boy, they throw you in there. They expect you to get right to it. That's why I tell cats, these young cats, man, who looking to be pros, bro, because everybody ain't going to be able to come in and get the ball right away and be able to, you know what I mean? Oh, man. So listen, for a lot of them who haven't had a chance to have to really wait their turn, when they get to the pros, they have to, you know, it's a pecking order.
41:54Shannon Sharpe:You know what I mean? It's only a few guys, a couple guys who they're going to hand the ball to right away when you come into the league. So it's an adjustment, Uncle Ocho, and a lot of these young cats, it's hard for them to handle, man. You know what I mean? Oh, man. For real.
42:08Joe Johnson:Hey, that was funny, boy. Hey. Uncle Boy, you shout out. Hey, Uncle Boy, you shout out, boy.
42:13Shannon Sharpe:Hey, I'm getting buzzed ready. I tried to control as long as I could. I mean, you catch a couple of passes, I'm good. I done got the rhythm now. I done caught me three, and then all of a sudden they go somewhere else with the ball. Man, why the F y 'all throw it to him? Y 'all know damn well he wasn't going to catch the ball.
42:35Shannon Sharpe:It's a little different than hoops, though. If a dude make three, four shots, you know a next heat check coming. You want to try to get him going. Yeah. But you know, Joe, in football, they say, Ocho, what they say, we're going to spread it around this week. Okay. All right. They're going to spread it around. Now come fourth quarter, Ocho, Joe, we're in a tight ball game. They're going to come out there with a sheet because they didn't have no eye pass. They got the sheets. What you like on it? I like for you to get out of my face. I would like something in the first or second quarter. Now you in here, now I'm talking about what I like.
43:10Shannon Sharpe:I would like for you to get out of my face before I cuss you out. that's what I would like.
43:18Shannon Sharpe:What you want me to do? We down 14. They got the ball. It's six minutes left in the ball game. Talk about what I like. I should have told him I like pepperoni and ground beef on my pizza. That's what I like. That's how mad you be though. For real. I swear to God, I know exactly what you're talking about. Oh, shit.
43:44Joe Johnson:Hey, boy, that bring back so many good memories.
43:46Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I don't know. There ain't no damn good memories. They bring back memories. That damn sure ain't good. That's probably why my blood pressure was up. Hey, listen, because real talk, you know, some of them bad games, they leave a stain on your brain, bro. Like, I had some games, you know, you just can't get out your head like, Damn. And then they're gonna talk about the money again. Yeah, we definitely should've got just more opportunities. Yeah, man, get out of here with all that. What'd I do now?
44:21Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man. Hey, listen, that's the worst. Hey, look, that's like the ref coming to you saying - He missed it. Yeah, he fouled you a couple times in that first half. That's how I bad. Damn, that's four points. That's two front throws I could've been like that, man. Come on, man. Oh, man. Yeah, I was like, man, they need to stop with this. The New York Jets quarterback, Geno Smith, vowed to be better.
44:43Chad Johnson:We're lost. It feels like we're going round in circles. I'm going to ask that man for directions. Hi there. We're trying to get to the state fairgrounds. Go to work, grab the kids at school, get the groceries, and still have enough charge to visit your in-laws in the next county.
48:42Chad Johnson:But they don't need to know that. And the best part, you won't have to buy gas at all. The way forward is electric. Explore EVs that fit your life at electricforall.org.
48:55Shannon Sharpe:that ever in his second stint with the team. Geno said, I still have tons of years left on my body and to play this game, and I want to continue to try to maximize it. And so believe the Jets are getting better players than when I was in Seattle. And I know that for a fact. In fact, the Jets are hoping Geno can stabilize the quarterback position. They traded for him Tuesday, bringing him back to where his career began in 2013. He was their second round pick that year, became day one starter, and started 29 games over his first two seasons before moving into a backup role. When asked about the return to New York, Gino said, I don't think anyone could have imagined that, honestly, but that's the beauty of life itself.
49:39Joe Johnson:Yeah. What you thinking, Ocho? I mean, listen, Gino, going back to New York, we obviously know not very many quarterbacks have had success, you know, playing for the New York Jets. Obviously, from top to bottom, they've been somewhat of a bad organization. and putting the pieces, the correct pieces around to build a winning team, a winning organization. For Geno Smith going back there, he's going to have to have an out-of-body experience every goddamn week. Hey, Joe, Uncle Joe, he's going to have to have an out-of-body experience every goddamn week and elevate all those around him. Obviously, you have Garrett Wilson.
50:14Joe Johnson:You have Brees Hall back. I'm not sure. Obviously, we have the draft coming up. I'm not sure there's anybody in the draft that they can draft that can come in and make an immediate impact and make them that much better. But everything's going to have to be on Geno. He's going to have to be much better than he's ever been before. I don't care about what he did in the past. I don't care what he did with Las Vegas. I don't care what he did in Seattle. I'm talking about right now with the New York Jets, Geno Smith is going to have to play his best football to date.
50:43Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Ocho, they must have got a lot of draft picks, the Jets. I'm saying for them to give up two of the best defensive guys from last season. What'd they get in return? Do Gino got any weapons? What'd he dealin' with outside of gear?
51:00Joe Johnson:Dallas got Quentin Williams. What'd they get for Quentin? They got a first. They got two first.
51:09Shannon Sharpe:They got two first. Remember Ocho? They traded late in the season for A.D. Mitchell. So they got A.D. Now that boy, he's shown flashes.
51:21Joe Johnson:Yeah, he can play.
51:22Shannon Sharpe:They need to, they need the offensive line. They need to protect. Yeah. Listen, we can make a long story short or we can make a short story long. I'm going to keep it brief. They need a lot of good players. It comes down to that. Yeah. Seattle won the Super Bowl because they got good players and they got a lot of them. Yeah. You have a scheme. You get players to fit your scheme. Now, the thing is, if you got a player that's so immensely talented, you know what, son? I'm going to find something you can do. Even the Warriors, a prime example. He's a strong safety. He don't play like that. They blitz him.
52:04Shannon Sharpe:They do a lot of different things with him because he's that versatile. I'm going to put our best players in a position to make plays.
52:12Joe Johnson:Yeah.
52:14Shannon Sharpe:JSN, I'm going to move him. I'm going to line his ass up in the backfield and throw him a sail rod for a touchdown. Now, I'm going to put him in the slot. I'm going to stack him. I'm going to zip motion. I'm going to do a lot of different things with him. Rashid can take the top off it. Okay, let's run A. Let's run a jet suite. Let's run a reverse with him. Let's put him on a go ball. The more good players you have, the more dynamic your offense or your defense is, the better you are as a team. I don't give a damn who your coach is. You don't got good players? Man, you wasting your time. Yeah.
52:49Shannon Sharpe:you wasted your time and the Jets need a lot of good players they're bad they're poorly constructed they're poorly run organization there ain't no way around that I'm not breaking news to anybody y 'all know that for you to be bad that long everybody's turned it around except them everybody's going to the playoffs when the last time the Jets made the playoffs when they had Mark Sanchez was the quarterback hell that was like 2009 yeah
53:17Joe Johnson:Yeah, it's about their time to come back on the round, man. They had a crazy defense back then, boy.
53:23Shannon Sharpe:Yes. But look at the defensive players that they had. They had Crow. They had Revis. They had David. Muhammad Wilkinson. Look at the players that they had. I think Pace, Calvin Pace was on that team. Look at the players that they had. Yeah. They ain't got that now. Yeah. they were a run-first team. They pound you, ground and pound. That's what they called it. They had Damon Wooden, had got a brick. They don't have that. So, until they figure that out and get better personnel, you ain't going to do nothing. You're not. League is too good. And there is no defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator, and no head coach, Ocho, that can overcome talent.
54:19Shannon Sharpe:If you are in a talent deficit, you are going to get beat. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Ocho, Bears general manager Ryan Pohl's confirmed today that the team was interested in trading for Max Crosby before he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens, a deal that ended up being called off. We were involved. We checked in. We looked to see if it made sense, Pohl said. Had some dialogue. I'll leave it at that. Oh, Joe. Does Max Crosby end up staying at the Raiders this year?
54:52Joe Johnson:You know what? Hey, Unc, at this point, I'm not sure. At this point, I'm not sure, especially when a situation like this happens, one that I've really never seen before. I'm sure it's happened before, not the date since I've been involved with the NFL. But for the Ravens to decline in trading for Max Crosby and sending him back to the Raiders, what message does that send to the other teams? He ain't going for no first-round picks. Right, especially for the teams that are in contention, that would want a player like Matt Crowdery who's going to make an immediate impact if healthy. Well, hell, even if he's not healthy, he made an impact when he wasn't healthy as well.
55:29Joe Johnson:So we saw what he did when he was obviously injured, but I don't know, Unk. At this point, most of the time, I'm able to say, you know what, it's for sure. He's not going to be a Raider, but once he went back, and I'm thinking depending on this just decreases his value. Yeah, for sure. Why wouldn't the Raiders want him back
55:50Shannon Sharpe:though, Joe? Well, I think the thing is Joe, when they started to build this roster, they anticipated him not being there. So they signed a lot of players in. They thought they were going to have his 30 plus million dollars off the books.
56:06Joe Johnson:And so they were thinking also
56:08Shannon Sharpe:draft compensation. Now all of a sudden we got two first rounders. two this year, two next year. Now they got one this year and one next year, which is their own. So they were like, okay, we're going to build this team in our likeness and our image, Clint Kubiak and Spicek. But what it does, it's just like anything. Once somebody tells you like, hey, this is damaged, he's not going for two first-rounders. He's not. So what I'm asking is, does his salary still go against - No, no, no, yeah, yeah, yeah. He back on their books. Yeah, he back on their books. Even though they didn't sign them other guys?
56:48Shannon Sharpe:Yes, yes, yes. So you got to factor that either. If they keep him, then they probably - They going to have salary problems, basically. Well, what they could do is convert that, put boardable years, add two years on it, and then turn a large chunk of that into a signing bonus. you kick the can down the road but you give yourself some relief right now and that's what you see you see what the Cowboys did with Sean Gary Ocho they added a couple of portable years took his number down now they freed up$13 million in cap space yep they front load him
57:25Shannon Sharpe:it's a bad situation I feel bad for Max I feel bad for the Raiders because I can just imagine Ocho you're in the building Just imagine you're in the building and they tell you it's not going to happen. That has to suck. What? The knee. Yeah, we know, but we see some degeneration that we think is going to be that's further along than we'd like. Right. Man, can y 'all imagine what that feeling is like? Like, you know, having to go back to your team. It's almost similar to the Don Kinnick situation for the Lakers. Yeah, that's exactly right. Yeah. Yeah. You know, they traded him to Charlotte for that Mark Williams cat.
58:12Joe Johnson:Yeah.
58:13Shannon Sharpe:And he failed his physical, and then Don Kinnick had to come back. Man, that's got to be a mess up, too. Hey, Joe, Ocho, hey, I'm gone. That's a new thing over here. I'm going with her. Then she put you out. Baby, I'm back. Right. Hold on, what you mean, back, y 'all? You know, I would just play it. Mm-mm. Hey. As long as that chick clear on the first and 15th. You going back, Joe? Shit, I'm back. Hey, I'm back. Hey, look, y 'all, we can play two-on-two in practice, three-on-three, whatever y 'all we need to do to keep everybody right. But listen here. Boy, please, I'm trying to crack this rotation.
58:54Shannon Sharpe:I think, and the thing is, look, Ocho, we talked about it. Joe, we talked about saying, hey, Chicago, Chicago should make a play for him because he definitely, in that division, when the quarterback play, Jordan Love, Jerry Goff, you need somebody that's going to pressure the quarterback consistently. You know he can consistently pressure the quarterback. I like the Bears. That offense is only going to get better. Caleb Williams is only going to improve. Only going to get better, yeah. So now I need somebody on the defensive side that I know can win one-on-one. And he's tremendous at the run. I mean, there are a lot of guys that can rush the quarterback, and a lot of times guys don't want to rush the quarterback because that's how you make big money.
59:36Run stuffers, at the edge they don't make no money.
59:40Shannon Sharpe:Guys that get the quarterback. Guys that protect the quarterback, left tackle. The guys that go attack the quarterback, edge rushers. That's where the money is. because somebody got to protect the cashier, DeVault. DeVault, that's the quarterback. Somebody got to protect him. The bank robber, which is Rush In, somebody got to be able to get in there and get out. That's why you see the Miles Garrett and the TJ Watts and all the Aiden Hutchinson and the Michael Parsons. Now you see the$38,$40,$46 million guys and Laramie Tunsil making$30 million,$31 million to protect the blind side. Big money. Game changers.
1:00:26Shannon Sharpe:You got to. Ocho, that type of money, that's for game changers, man. Oh, yeah. That's why I say I can make a case that LT is the greatest player to ever play the game because he made two position famous, the left tackle and the edge. Nobody else can say they made two position famous. He did because if you didn't have a left tackle, you couldn't beat the Giants. and then everybody went and got an LT. What do you think? Even though Miles is an N, he's an edge. LT was a 3-4. He was a stand-up linebacker. So all these Derrick Thomas and Devon Millers and the TJ Watts, all these guys that you see, the Andersons, who do you think that came from?
1:01:07Shannon Sharpe:The left tackle. When you see the Laramie Thompson and Big T-Dub and Mylotta and all these guys, where do you think they got it? the Giants because if you couldn't do it with LT you couldn't beat the Giants you couldn't Joe Gibbs Joe Gibbs changed his entire offense he brought in the H back because they couldn't do anything with LT so it's like hey we got to get an extra tight end on the field Joe Jacoby, Jim Lachey all those guys Gary Zimmerman, Steve Wallace everybody in the NFC went and got a left tackle to deal with him.
1:01:47Joe Johnson:You were the real deal.
1:01:49Shannon Sharpe:And then after that, everybody started getting a LLT. You got an Andre Tippett. You got a Cornelius Bennett. You got a Derek Thomas. Everybody started getting those guys. That's how good he was. All right, Joe, this is going to be right up your alley. He, head coach Eric Spolster, broke the people criticizing Bam out of Bios' historic 83-point game. Spolster said, I'm not losing sleep over what people are saying. what's ethical or not. I would do it 10 times out of 10 again for Bam. I'm apologizing to nobody about this. I think most of the people that probably made comments, they didn't watch the game.
1:02:26Shannon Sharpe:That's irresponsible or unethical. You don't even understand the context of the game. Joe, take it away. Man, look, I'm with Spoh. Man, apologizing for what? Man, that man had 31 in the first quarter on the Ochoa. Hey, look, you probably look up, you probably thinking to yourself, ooh, I got 31 in the first quarter. Ooh, I'm for sure going to get 50 tonight. Yes. You know what? I kind of got this thing going. Then, you know, once you get to a certain point, your teammates going to start gravitating, trying to help you out. That's just part of it, bro. You know what I mean? And I think that's why it took such criticism because of how he got it, meaning like how they were kind of basically force-feeding him.
1:03:09Shannon Sharpe:But I'm cool with that. Like, man, 83 points, bro. come on RKO Joe yeah hold on so they're talking about oh the Wizards not any good do they make it seem man the Wizards ain't been good all year the Wizards ain't been good since they were the Bullets so right and we and the thing like you said Joe he had 31 in the first quarter then he get another 12 I got 43 at the half at worst case scenario I'm getting 60 yeah hold on yeah you're thinking 60 you got hold on Joe Joe, Joe, I got 19 in the third. I got 62 now with 12 minutes to play. I'm thinking about catching Kobe record. Thank you, Joe. Thank you.
1:03:55Shannon Sharpe:I'm thinking, hey, hey, hey. I'm thinking now. I'm thinking, shit, Kobe had 81. I got 62 with 12 minutes. Hey. Boy, it would have looked hell for my teammates. I'm out there like Bam playing wide receiver. They got three new guards. Hey, I ain't playing no defense. All I'm doing is snowball. I'm cherry picking. Hey, get to the basket. I'm taking off. Hey, throw it down there and hit me one of them Hail Marys. Hey, think about it, bro. Like, that's legendary because obviously, you know, we hadn't seen Wilt, but we know Wilt got 100 points. Yeah. Man, can you – Joe, not to cut you off, but people say, man, Wilt ain't scored no 100 points.
1:04:34Shannon Sharpe:After seeing Bam get 83, everybody said, yeah, Wilt got 100. after they saw Bam get 83, because you got to realize Bam's averaging 19, 20 points a game. So you got 63 more points than what you average. Bam, career high might be 40, 41, 42 points. So now you got 40 plus points more than your career high. Yeah. Wilt had 78, a 73, no, Wilt had a 71, a 72, I think the 72 came in 61. But Wilt had like three 70-point games that year. 78, 100, a 73, and a 72. So he had four 70-point games in one year. That's crazy. Man, listen. It's because Bam is in what we would necessarily call a score, but he got a nice package.
1:05:33Shannon Sharpe:He got a nice bag, Uncle Ocho. Hey, look, the man down there in Miami living right, Him and Asia, they big boo loving. He having a good time, man. I'm happy for him, man.
1:05:45Joe Johnson:You know what's funny, Uncle Joe, is those that actually play the game of basketball, whether it's coaches, whether it's former players, whether it's current players, I mean, their reaction to it has not been very supportive. You know, if you've heard most of the comments. And I mean, I'm somewhat confused. obviously 83 is 83 no matter how you splice it no matter how you try to move the goalpost no matter how you try to explain it uh it's it's history uh i mean just and the fact that i said it yesterday uh joe talking with onk and if if kobe was here kobe would be the first one celebrating it man we have all these kobe fans that are mad that aren't even thinking like kobe thinks
1:06:27Shannon Sharpe:kobe celebrates a milestone like that absolutely not tripping off someone breaking a milestone own, it'd be a congratulations. Because he passed Kobe. If he had passed, if it was Joe Johnson, if it was anybody else other than Kobe, it would have got applauded. Now, Joe, you was in the league when Kobe shot 50 times that last game. Ain't nobody said nothing. 50 shots. What did he finish with? 60 on 50 shots. Ain't nobody said nothing. Boy, what a performance. You see Kobe, what were they doing? What was his teammates doing, Joe? Throwing him the ball. No, they was – yeah, they was force feeding.
1:07:11Shannon Sharpe:They was force feeding. Considering that – I want to pull up the – what you call them? Because I want to see something. Because I want to see how many shots his teammates shot. Because when somebody shoots 50 times, Joe, you might get what? 80, 85 shots in a game? And you got 12 players playing. And one guy shoots 50 times, how many the others get? hey hey what i think though is uh the fact that everybody knew that was his last game they they wanted to see him go out they wanted to see him go out with a i mean hell that's a kobe like game 50 dang he shot 50 times like and who else gonna shoot that many times bro yeah you know what i mean no yeah okay so he was he was 22 of 50 6 of 21 from the three Hurtis had Julius Randle was 1 for 4 Roy Hibbert was 2 of 3 Jordan Clarkson was 6 of 10 Angela Russell was 4 of 10 Kelly had 0 shots Tim Black was 2 of 3 Larry Nance Jr.
1:08:16Shannon Sharpe:was 3 of 3 and Hurtis was 1 of 2 so they took 85 shots
1:08:29Shannon Sharpe:they understood the assignment ain't nobody have a problem with it bam teammates understood Spoh told them let's see how far he can take it I'd have been pissed if they took him out I ain't gonna lie to you Joe and Ocho I'd have stayed the whole game because now I'm gonna try to get 90 there's a minute and 24 seconds left Joe I ain't gonna lie I'm gonna try to get 90 I ain't lying Yeah. Might well stay in there the whole game. Don't just settle for 83. You're saying keep going. I had a conversation with Ozzie and Brian Billett about Jamal Lewis. Jamal Lewis had 295 yards, Ocho, and they took him out of the game.
1:09:09Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You mean to tell me y 'all can't let that man get five yards? If somebody break 300, I want to be the first NFL player to rush for 300 yards in an NFL game. They took the man out with like five, six minutes left in the ball game. I don't care. 300, do you understand what 300 mean Ocho in an NFL game? Oh, absolutely. Hey, listen, even the Saquon Barkley thing, when he could have pushed the running back record, and look, look, look, it ain't no giving you gonna get back there. He didn't have no -
1:09:43Joe Johnson:As you can see, the next year, he's - You see what I'm saying? Yes. Yeah.
1:09:47Shannon Sharpe:You gotta take advantage of those moments. We had the same situation, Ocho and Joe, with TD. to get 2 ,000. TD needed like 177 yards last game of the season. We got everything sewn up. The Lions say we want to get it. Say we want to be in the record books. All right, let's go. Let's go get it. I think he went and got 187. Damn. Yes, but bro, history. History. I still think about it today because if you remember, Ocho, Adrian Peterson broke Jamal's record. He ran for 296.
1:10:31Joe Johnson:That was his rookie year.
1:10:33Shannon Sharpe:If you break my – look here. If you go for 301, I'm good. But guess what, Ocho? I was the first guy to rush for 300 yards in an NFL game. In an NFL game. Yeah. Look, Norm Brand Brocklin, his record is 550, 52, 50 or something yards. the first there's something about the first people gonna come behind you the i don't know who's the first person to have a diamond a diamond album but guess what ocho i was the first yeah there's been a lot of diamond albums uh uh mariah carey got a couple whitney michael uh uh uh uh beyonce yeah i was the first if i'm like i said if i'm bam i got 83 i ain't lying chat I ain't coming out.
1:11:21Shannon Sharpe:I'm trying to get 90. I ain't gonna lie, I'm trying to get 90.
1:11:27Joe Johnson:The first certified diamond album was Michael Jackson's Thriller. Really? Bless you. Wait. Yeah, thank you. The first album certified diamond, 10 million plus copies by RIAA, awarded in 1984, were Michael Jackson's Thriller, certified$20 million. Fleetwood Mac's Rumors,$12 million. And Saturday Night Fever soundtrack,$11 million.
1:11:57Shannon Sharpe:That was the first. But Michael done sold him 100 million copies, so that thing 10 times diamond. Ain't nobody beating that. Because first of all, they dialed, they do, what Spotify is streaming now. So you ain't buying no, hey, you not buying no hard copies. It was a thing back in the day, Ocho, to actually go buy the hard copy. You can listen to it. You put the headset on, put it on, they let you listen to it. You go to Lil' Mom and Pop or you go to Tower Records and you can actually listen to the album. Like, yeah, I like that. Okay, I'm gonna get this. Or you can have it go to Lil' Mom Pop Shop and they would make you a cassette.
1:12:34Shannon Sharpe:They'd make you an eight track. Yeah. I ain't got no problem. And people like, well, they was filing. Okay.
1:12:45Shannon Sharpe:Did anything happen in the game that's not a part of the game? Guess what they do every night in the game, Ocho and Joe? File. Were they filing, Bam? They didn't have to file him. They filed him. So he go to the free throw line and he made 36 of 43. I don't know what to tell you. Hey, listen. If I'm on the defensive team, man, I don't know how this man finna get 83. He had 31 in the first quarter. Ocho, first off, Ocho. My defense, my awareness is going to turn up so high. I'm going to start denying it. Man, you're not from the 83? I've been in the game. The highest I've been in the game, Dame Lilla.
1:13:25Shannon Sharpe:This is when I was playing in Utah. We played against the Blazers when he was in Portland. He gave us like 62. Damn. Look. Yeah, I know Ocho. He was cooking. I'm talking about everything. I'm talking about everything. game. We couldn't contain him in the pick and roll. He going by our guards. He just getting what he want to. So in this same game, bro, I go over 20 ,000 points for my career. I'm thinking to myself, say, I already knew this coming to the game. I needed like 13 points to go for 20K. So I went on and got mine out the way first half. I went on and got mine out the way, Ocho. Man, this joker done went from 62.
1:14:00Shannon Sharpe:I'm thinking to myself, how in the hell am I going to get the ball this dude done went for a career high of 62. Lo and behold, after the game, man, a ball boy brought me the ball. Dame told him to bring it to me. I thought that was cool. So it's like, I thought that was pretty cool on Dame part. But we've seen Dame explode like that. Dame got a 70-point game. Dame could have got, because I remember calling him. I said, bro, why you didn't go for 80? He's like, sharp, I was trying to get 80. He said, man, you saw him. They started doubling. Hey, they were leaving other men wide open. They were doubling and tripling him in the backcourt.
1:14:35Shannon Sharpe:But I think he ended up with like 71, 72. I called him. I said, bro, you got to get 80. He said, man, I was trying. And he was cooking. And so the thing is, Joe, I think the biggest thing, Ojo and Joe, is that who did it? You're thinking somebody that's a score that's going to get a number like that. Because when you see numbers like that, you see David Thompson or you see Luka or you see somebody with 70, those are scores. Bam is not his score. Yeah. And he got 83 of all people. Yeah. That's why everybody's so shocked. Shocked. Yeah. I'm sitting here. I'm looking across my phone. I'm like, he got what?
1:15:22Shannon Sharpe:A buddy of mine texted me. Said Bam got 31 in the first quarter. I said he'll probably end up with like 50, 55. Right. He said, well, he got 40. He texted me back. He said, we got 43 at the half. I said, well, let's readjust that. So let's, okay, go get at least 60. Because I'm thinking now, if you get 10 and 10, that's 20. That's 63. He said, well, he got 62 at the half. I'm like, 62 and three quarters? I said, well, 80 is in play now. Yeah. And I'm damn.
1:15:56Shannon Sharpe:He sent me back. He's like 81. And then all of a sudden, it started bubbling again. And you know, like another. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, well, damn. 83? I don't care how you cut or slice it, fellas. That's impressive, man. That's impressive. 83 points, yo. Yeah, listen, because you know what, Uncle Ocho? You think about it. He really took, if he shot 40, what, three free throws? 43 free throws and 43 shots. He took 86 shots. He took, you got to be in shape to do that, man.
1:16:31Joe Johnson:Hey, you think he played the next game or do you rest after that? No, he playing. He playing tonight. He playing tonight. What he had tonight?
1:16:40Shannon Sharpe:About 20? I think he... I don't even think he had that for real. They won though. They beat the Bucs. I think he had like 17. I think he had like 17, Joe.
1:16:53Shannon Sharpe:He ended with 21.
1:16:54Joe Johnson:21. He ended with 21. Okay. Hey, Joe. What's up? Hey, they canceled the Magic City thing, man.
1:17:00Shannon Sharpe:I know bro they still got the game TI uh performing at half I still got the tickets
1:17:05Joe Johnson:now what you oh I'm coming I am what I'm coming what you mean okay okay yeah I don't I don't I done bought my little ticket off uh off of spirit I'd be there yeah I got you man we good okay okay okay yeah you sure you don't want to join us at the game no I don't got surgery man
1:17:26Shannon Sharpe:he can limp out there no he need to get right so i can uh so i can uh get him in that uh give me that cornhole give me that cornhole there you go hey there you go talking there you go i just said get him in the cornhole he wanted the cornhole i want mike get back in there you know i know he be at home practicing in the backyard when he out there with the dogs i already know what going on.
1:17:53Shannon Sharpe:I'm trying to show you something guys. Cause people.
1:18:00Shannon Sharpe:What you got man? Pulled a zero in on that. When I say my buddy was texting me. Who'd you? Could y 'all see that? Not really. Damn bro. I'm sitting there. I'm sitting there. I'm sitting there. And then he put 81, and then soon it started bubbling again, 83. He did. He said 83, yeah, yeah, yeah. Guys, y 'all think people, I know, look, I know the internet because you got AI, and people lie so much. Bro, I ain't got to lie. What do I get? I just want to know, Chad, tell me what, to the guy that wrote, tell me what I get out of my line. Oh, Troy, and I did, I got another famous number. I got a Justin Timberlake's number in my phone too.
1:18:47Shannon Sharpe:Okay, okay. I was looking like, well, damn, I forgot I got JT. But I think that's the biggest thing. But check this out, Joe. Gordon Hayward said, I think Bam is one of the best two-way players in the league at his position, but he's not a scorer, right? So for him to break Kobe's record, I don't think it's great for the league. I think it kind of highlights how they're already struggling. It kind of feels like a pickup game when you're watching. and for him to shoot 43 free throws and 22 threes when that's not what he does, it almost feels like, and again, the Wizards too, with all the teams tanking, it kind of makes it feel not legit.
1:19:26Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, Joe? You see what I mean, Joe? Hey, hey, hey, hey, man, hey. Like my grandma said, if you ain't got nothing good to say, don't say nothing at all. Thank you. No, for real, don't say nothing at all, man. Stop trying to diminish what this man has done. We got a lot of people hating on him that I wouldn't expect the hate to be coming from. Thank you. You know what I'm saying? Like, 83 is 83, bro. Like, unless he took 80 shots. You know what I'm saying? Like, the man, he had it going, man. He had a good night. Regardless if he shot 43 free throws, so what? To get 83 points in the game, man. Did they file him?
1:19:59Shannon Sharpe:The question is, I want to know, Ocho, Joe, did they file him? Were they filed? Gordon Hayward, did anybody else say he shot 43 free throws? Did they foul him? That is the question. Because last I checked, when Dr. Naismith wrote it, he wrote fouls in there. And if you went over a certain number, you got to shoot free throws. Or if you were in the act of shooting, you shot free throws. Or if you had five fouls. So the question is, were they filing Bam? Yes or no? yeah they were fouling they could not do nothing with that man do you hear me I'm talking about Uncle Ocho the man was in his bag like I knew he had a nice little handle you know what I mean I knew he had a nice he looked like I'm talking about the way he was coming down shooting threes getting in his bag I'm like hold on thank you I said the same thing I said the same thing when they showed it because they showed somebody I think what you call them they showed all 31 of his points in the first quarter on Twitter.
1:21:06Shannon Sharpe:And I'm like, well, damn, bam. Hold up. How you come on, take three dribbles past half court and pull up from three? That ain't your game. But when you had those back-to-back 200-yard game, when you in that zone, ain't nothing to do. You in there. Hey, look, look, look. I'm like, hold on, bro. You been teasing us. When you got all this in your bag, you give us 83. Come on, man. Like, you know. But what did he say? What did he say, Joe? He said the same thing. I think Bam is one of the best two-way players in the league at his position, but he's not a scorer. You see? Because of who did it. If Dame Lillard get this record, if Steph Curry, James Harden, Luka Doncic, somebody that's known for scoring, Kevin Durant, I don't think we got this.
1:21:51Shannon Sharpe:But because it's Bam. What was Bam high this year? I mean this year. Bam high this year might be 30. And to go from a high 30 to add 53 to that is just crazy. Yeah, it came out of nowhere. And you look at the guys because you look at the guys that got those numbers, those guys are scorers. Everybody that's up there, Wilt was a scorer. Wilt averaged 30 and 23 for a career. You look at James Harden, it's known as a scorer. You look at David Thompson was a scorer. Michael Jordan high was 69, a score. Kobe's high, 81, score. You look at guys that Luka Doncic is a score. Dame Lillard is a score. We look at Bam, we think that Bam is a two-way player.
1:22:43Shannon Sharpe:He'll get you somewhere 15 to 20. Ain't going to get you somewhere between 8 and 12 rebounds. That's what he is. Great two-way player. Can play defense, can play on-ball defense, can play help side defense, can rebound the basketball. It's just so unlike him. anybody him Joel Embiid is a score we don't look at BAM as a score and so that's what's throwing people off but it happens sometimes guys have out about their experiences look at Flipper if somebody said well who got the most receiving yards in a single game Mocho they're going to say Megatron they're going to say Randy Moss, Jerry Rice, T.O.
1:23:23Shannon Sharpe:it's Flipp little old Flipp yeah six foot 180.
1:23:32Joe Johnson:you went crazy boy you went crazy boy but i ain't i ain't gonna lie i ain't lose no sleep over it hell i've been what i've been watching it go i watch i'm like well damn
1:23:44Shannon Sharpe:because you don't know but i i ain't coming out i'm good night i'm gonna try to get 90. keep doing what y 'all doing that game yeah that game would have just been ending
1:23:59Shannon Sharpe:Joe Ocho, you seven points away from 90. I mean, can you imagine if that dude would have got 90? Now I want somebody to get 90 points. For whatever reason, it just feels strange, but I feel like it can happen. You know, that first quarter obviously got to be special. You know what I'm saying? That first quarter special, if you can get 26, 30 points in the first quarter, then you think like okay boom and half if I can have 43, 42, 45 and half you got a good chance bro I know I'm getting 50 Ojo it's like you remember when Tyreek Tyreek had those 200 yards in like 5 catches against Tampa I'm thinking he about to break the record you got 200 and you got a whole half to go?
1:24:58Shannon Sharpe:So I'm just knowing, you know, it's like anything. You get going and you're just like, oh yeah, it's one of those days. And you just look, I understand y 'all can be mad all you want to. Guess what? I'm in the record. And look, there might be somebody and somebody might break Wilt's record. And there might be somebody get 90 and push me down to three. And somebody might push me down. I might at one point in 50 years from now, I might be 10, but this is what I know. I scored 83 points in an NBA game. Man, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that. Anybody that got something to say, that. Hey, that's nasty work.

You ever wonder how far an EV can take you on one charge? Well, most people drive about 40 miles a day, which means you can do all daily stuff no problem. Go to work, grab the kids at school, get the groceries, and still have enough charge to visit your in-laws in the next county. But they don't need to know that.
1:28:07Chad Johnson:And the best part, you won't have to buy gas at all. The way forward is electric. Explore EVs that fit your life at electricforall.org.
