In short

The Nightcap Hour 1 panel breaks down Game 3 of the Lakers vs. Rockets playoff series, where the Lakers won 112-108 in overtime to take a 3-0 lead. They focus on LeBron’s workload, Marcus Smart’s late impact, Houston’s late-game mistakes (turnovers, fouls, bench scoring), and whether Houston can ever come back from 0-3.

Guests (hosts)

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson (former NFL Pro Bowler/all-pro; co-host), Joe Johnson (former 7-time NBA All-Star; ISO Joe), and Arturi (described as a former pro bowler/all-pro; co-host). They discuss basketball as former pros and commentators.

Key claims

LeBron (29 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists in 45 minutes) was “on fumes” but still led; Smart (21 points, 10 assists, five steals) was crucial in crunch time and OT; Houston “should have won” but lacked experience to close; Rockets’ bench produced only 3 points vs. Lakers’ 14/19/24 bench scoring; no team has ever come back from 3-0.

Notable examples

Rockets’ late turnovers and a questionable foul on a 3; Smart’s big OT three and free throws; discussion that Kevin Durant’s absence (injury) changes Houston’s closing ability; comparisons to past playoff collapses (e.g., Heat–Spurs Game 6 with Ray Allen).

We'll get to the NFL draft in just a second, but the Lakers go on the road and take a commanding 3-0 lead thanks to a 112-108 OT victory over the Houston Rockets. LeBron James played 45 minutes, and he had 29 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists. This 41-year-old LeBron is the oldest player in NBA history to lead his team in scoring in a playoffs passing just three days ago.

6:10Shannon Sharpe:He led his team in scoring. So now this is the second time Marcus Mark was sensational down the stretch, hit the big free throw three, and then made it unbelievable. He was great tonight, two playoff games in a row in which he's had five steals. He had 21 points, 10 assists, five steals. Rui had 22 points. He was 4 of 7. He started out scorching hot. Luke Kennard cooled down just a little. He was only one or six from the three, but he had 14 points. But Jackson Hayes gave us 12 points on five of eight shooting, two of three from the free throw line, and four rebounds and two big blocks. Joe, this game right here almost got away from the Lakers because they let the Houston Rockets out-physical them in the third quarter and in the fourth quarter, and it almost got away from them.

6:58Chad Johnson:Man, Lakers should have lost this game. Dumb plays. Yeah, I mean, hey, look, look. And LeBron having two turnovers crucial in the game and walking back on defense. Boy, if they'd have lost this, I would have been on them tonight.

7:12Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you saw that too, right? Yeah, I said that. He turned it over and Shingun beat him down the court.

7:18Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. So I think the Lakers got lucky, man. But it's just the inexperience of the Rockets, Uncle Ocho. Man, they don't know how to close out no game, bro. I mean, some of the turnovers the Rockets was having in that fourth quarter. I'm like, bro.

7:32Shannon Sharpe:With the lead, just hold on to the ball, Joe. They throwing the ball. Remember that guy Duke in trouble. Did you not learn anything from Duke trying to throw the ball ahead? I don't know. And then it get picked off and then tape. Why would you foul Marcus, Mark? I just want to know. Tell me why. I don't know who's looking with it. In the sink of Backstreet Boys, tell me why.

7:52Chad Johnson:I don't know. Right, right. Hey, this was a debacle. I'm talking about for the Houston Rockets. They weren't supposed to lose this game, bro. Listen, they had them put their stem down. You know what I mean? They big guns. They had some guys who stepped up and played big. I thought Singoon had his best game of the series. And it just seemed like the Lakers was tired in that second half. You know what I mean? It's like the Rockets had the momentum. And then, man, I be doggone. When it comes crunch time, they just don't know how to close, man. They did not know how to close the game, Arkin Ocho. They didn't.

8:26Shannon Sharpe:maybe they got tired. If you look at their start, I mean, Smith played 44 minutes. Eason played 46 minutes. Shingun, 47 minutes. Thompson, 48 minutes. Shepard, 46 minutes. And they really got no contribution from their bench. They only got three points from their bench, where the Lakers got 14, 19, 24 from their bench. And only two guys, well, you know, they had LeBron. I think the thing was, Bron was on fumes. That's why he was walking back. He was spent. Did you see him dive down on the floor for that loose ball and just stay down there? He wasn't hurting. Thinking LeBron was hurting, he wasn't hurting.

9:05Shannon Sharpe:He was just gassed. Think about it. Those are 41-year-old legs playing 45 playoff minutes. That's not how it was meant to be. Ocho, what did you think about this game? I mean, listen, just like I'm piggybacking off of you, what you and Joe said, the goddamn, the Rockers should have won this game. but I'm going to give credit to the goddamn Lakers. They took advantage of the Rockets' mistakes. Goddamn, Shingun had a really, really good game. The players for the Rockets, they filled in. With Kevin Durant not playing, they did as much as they could do. But the goddamn, hey, DeAndre Aiden going to hurt the Lakers later on in the next year.

9:41What do you mean? He hurt them loud. Hey, DeAndre, I'm just saying, listen, without Kevin Durant, the Lakers are going to win this series. but DeAndre Aydin is going to have to step up and realize it's the goddamn playoffs. If he has some hands on him, he can take my hands. He can take my hands, you know? I'm not sure what's wrong with him. I'm not sure what's wrong with him, but we had this conversation before. We have it over and over and over again. He's going to come to a point where they're going to need DeAndre Aydin to step up and make his presence felt on the offensive end and the defensive end.

10:13Outside of that, LeBron obviously doing what he's doing. Forget him being 41. This is what we expect of him, Uncle Joe. We expect him to do this. The fact that he's still playing, probably being the only one who's played this goddamn long, we expect it. Luke Kennard, he was on ice a little bit tonight. But Marcus Smart stepped up big time, Uncle. He stepped up big time. For somebody that plays on both ends of the court, Joe, he going to sit in that goddamn chair and play defense. And what he gave you offensively was fucking phenomenal. Oh, I'm sorry. Was awesome. It was phenomenal.

10:43Chad Johnson:Hey, you're right. You're right, Ocho. Hey, look, Uncle, I don't know how you feel, but I love Marcus Smart, man. I'm talking about, I know he scored 21 points, but it ain't necessarily the points that he put up because a lot of things that he brings to the team, it doesn't show up in the stats sheet, Ocho. Meaning just playing hard, being consistent, you know what I mean? Knocking down shots, but just causing havoc defensively, bro. With no KD on the floor tonight, Ocho, they're supposed to put these boys away. I mean, they had them put away early.

11:14Shannon Sharpe:They came out in the third quarter like they always do. If you notice, Joe, they always, like the first five minutes of the third quarter, they play some terrible basketball. They do. And the thing was is that Houston wasn't able to capitalize on it. Houston just got young guys that don't really know how to understand basketball. They just be standing around just watching. Thompson says, okay, I'm going to go now. Shingun said, well, I'm going to go to Reed Shepard. I mean, they just make the mistakes that you can't make in those type of situations. You can't. Reed Shepard cannot get the ball poked out from behind.

11:46Shannon Sharpe:You cannot try to throw the ball across court, up court, and get it picked off. I mean, think about it. You've got a six-point lead. The only thing that can hurt you, make them foul you. Make them foul you. They want to foul you, you throw it up. It gets picked off. I don't know what the hell DeJounte was thinking. Why in God's green earth would you foul that man on a three? Okay, you foul him. And then guess what? Reese Shepard, I don't know why you didn't want to go to the free throw line, but we saw. Because they call him bull jive take on Marcus Martin. When he didn't even touch Thompson.

12:24Chad Johnson:Yeah.

12:24Shannon Sharpe:Thompson flopped.

12:26Chad Johnson:Yeah.

12:26Shannon Sharpe:He didn't touch it.

12:27Chad Johnson:Yeah.

12:27Shannon Sharpe:Ball don't lie. He clanked it. Yeah. Oh, but anyway, LeBron punches the ball out. Hey, y 'all still say LeBron ain't clutch? Now, had he missed that? I told you he ain't clutch. That's why X, Y, and Z is better. Now, I couldn't get nothing. I was trying to get some engagement on Twitter. Oh, Joey, Joe. I couldn't get anything. Nothing? They weren't talking to you all? Nathaniel. And I know what you wanted to say, because they would have said had LeBron lost this game, ain't no way X, Y, and Z would have lost this game if the team's best player wasn't playing. But you won't get to say that. Whatever you – because they were about to hit sin.

13:03Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. They already had to type that. They had to erase that.

13:06Shannon Sharpe:Erase it. Erase it. Hey. Yeah, I'm on that. I'm on that. I'm on that poke tonight. night. Yeah, yeah. I'm not responsible for anything I say. Anything I say will not be held against me. I do not have the right to remain silent. I do not have the right to an attorney if I can't afford one, which I can't currently.

13:32Chad Johnson:Hey, that was the inexperience of the Rockets tonight, fellas. I mean, a minute left on the clock. You ain't, what day was up by like 6, 5?

13:44Shannon Sharpe:Joe, they're up six with under 30 seconds.

13:48Chad Johnson:Yeah.

13:49Shannon Sharpe:Seconds. It's just turnover. All you got to do is just hold on to the ball. Make them come foul you. Make free throws. Even if you go one of two, you make two free throws, ball game over.

13:59Chad Johnson:That's why, hey, you know, they're a young, inexperienced team that Houston got without KD, without Van Fleet, without the big guy. What's his name? Steven Adams. Like, when your veterans are missing and, bro, you leaning on these young dudes, they will find a way to lose the game, bro. They will find a way. They found a way to lose tonight. I mean, bro, you're going to lose sleep behind this one. You will. Hey, Joe, that pressure, Joe. That pressure. You know, this ain't the regular season. You know, that pressure gets the, you know, I don't want to say the word, but it gets tight. And when it gets tight, you make mistakes.

14:37Costly mistakes that you normally wouldn't make, especially in a regular season game. but there ain't no pressure on you.

14:41Chad Johnson:I mean, Reed Shepard just ain't no point guard, bro. No, he's not. He's a shooter. And if he ain't making shots, Uncle Hill, it's hard to plan. Because he can't defend.

14:51Shannon Sharpe:Everybody do it. They looking to put him in the pick and roll because when they tied the game up, what did the Lakers do? They went and put Marcus Smart down on the block and said, okay, go at it.

15:00Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, hey. The Lakers did themselves a favor tonight because with Bron playing 45 minutes, man, he got, hey. Hey, look, if I'm the Lakers man, I want to go and close these dudes out.

15:13Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm going back to Los Angeles having swept. Yeah. Okay, I was just getting ready to ask you guys, too. If this is the gentleman's sweep coming out in the West, who the Lakers have to – Yeah, we got the Dyson. We got the big rollerball. The one that turned. Yeah. They go all up in the corner. That's what we got. We pulling that out. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, Uncle Joe, who the Lakers got to play next?

15:39Chad Johnson:OKC, bro. Oh, shit.

15:42Shannon Sharpe:But they potentially get Austin Reeves back, and they'll be playing without their number two guy, Jalen Williams. Jalen Williams. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. We got to worry about these. Now, this is what we know in NBA playoff history. No team has ever come back from 3-0. The team that's ever gotten to a 3-0 lead is 159-0. Now, eventually, somebody's going to break that record. Somebody's going to lose. I just hope it's not the Lakers. just like no team had ever come back from 3-1 in the NBA Finals. And then what happened, Joe?

16:13Chad Johnson:Yeah, they did the impossible. But, you know, Lakers can't, I mean, not Lakers, Rockets can't come back and win this series. It's not possible. I don't see, I can't see Bron letting that happen, but not only that, I think the guys around him, you know, if they don't get game four, I think they'll definitely win game five for sure. I just think the Rockets too inexperienced, bro. I mean, they played great at home. They played pretty good at home. They got some decent numbers across the board. But on the road, they ain't going to be able to compete. And I don't know the significance of Durant's injury, but.

16:52Shannon Sharpe:KD going to peace them out. They don't appreciate you. They be talking crazy. They be talking reckless. They don't appreciate you. See, KD wants to play unselfish basketball. See, KD flourishes when you pass the ball.

17:07Chad Johnson:Yeah. If you look at him, I understand,

17:11Shannon Sharpe:but if you play selfish basketball, that doesn't work for KD. It doesn't.

17:16Chad Johnson:No.

17:16Shannon Sharpe:He wants to play a pass the ball. That's how he is. Hey, as great a score as he is, as efficient as he is, if somebody has a better shot than Kevin Durant, Kevin Durant will give it up. I agree. He ain't one of them guys, man, I ain't shot the ball in five, six minutes. Let me take a shot here. No, somebody else got it going, keep it going.

17:35Chad Johnson:But I think he flustered too. Yeah, of course he is. Because Lakers won't let him play. They're not going to let him play. They ain't going to let him get into his bag, Ocho. Hey, listen, every time we see you about to go into your little ISO, we send an extra man. Trap. So I think he's been frustrated this entire series, especially the games that he's played. But sitting over there watching, bro, I know he was, oh, man. Yeah. Hey, but you know what? You know what I think? The Rockets going to get a game because, you know, them people got to pay bills now. We can't let that sweep. Well, it looked like they were trying to let it happen tonight, Ocho.

18:14Shannon Sharpe:They tried to get it because they wasn't calling nothing, and then they started calling tickets and stuff on the Lakers. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Bills got to be paid. But at some point, you got to play. And look, you know early on how they're going to call the game. You can't let that get you out of your game. Because I thought the Lakers started looking for fouls and they weren't getting them called, and it started impacting them. Now all of a sudden they're looking for the call and the Rockets going up the court. And then the Rockets on the other end, they were getting calls that Lakers said, well, call that on the other end.

18:47Shannon Sharpe:And it started to get flustered. And that's what you can't have in a situation like this. Yeah, I understand. It is frustrating when you think you got fouled on the other end and then the tiki-tack stuff get called on their end. Yeah. And you're feeling some type of way about it. But you got to play. Ain't nobody going to say, you know what, foul on 23. You know what, LeBron, since you complained about it, we're going to take that foul away. Play on no foul. It doesn't work like that. So you might as well go ahead and play and just say, hey, just alert their official next dead ball. Hey, you missed that one down there now.

19:21Chad Johnson:There you go.

19:22Shannon Sharpe:You missed that one.

19:23Chad Johnson:Because they ain't changing.

19:24Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you owe me one, Zach.

19:26Chad Johnson:Yeah. Or you owe me one, Josh.

19:27Shannon Sharpe:You owe me one, you know, whoever the case, you know, Courtney Kirkland, the John Wright, Tony Brothers, whatever the case, Capers, whatever the case may be, you owe me. You let one slip away.

19:38Chad Johnson:Yeah. Okay, fine.

19:40Shannon Sharpe:You keep playing.

19:41Chad Johnson:Hey, listen, and then when you think about it, the Rockets, man, hey, hey, they got to get something from their bench. I know he threw Finney Smith in there for a minute, but Finney Smith, he couldn't make no shots, so you had to go on and get him out of the game. But it's hard, Ocho and Unc. if you ain't played all series and now you done threw me in this fire in game three and now you need me to make some shots. That's tough, bro.

20:04Shannon Sharpe:De 'Jounte, they look at A. That movie Juice, how they look at Tupac, looking at that boy at the locker, that's how they look at him. He came in there, threw the ball away, and then guess what? Eddie gave up a foul on the three.

20:22Shannon Sharpe:Doka was looking at him like, are you kidding me? He was pissed. Are you kidding me? Hey. Hey, it's hard. You got the man coming off the bench, right? Joe, he ain't took no shots. He ain't really played. He ain't even in rhythm. We didn't want him to take a shot. He left his brain on the bench, too. He brought his body in the game, left his brain on the damn bench.

20:42Chad Johnson:Hey, but on another note, Ocho, you know that's part of the game. That's part of being a professional, bro. Yes. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah, I understand. You know what I mean? You know your role. You know, by the time I come off this bench, I'm going to probably be a little cold, but I got to get myself going. The team need me. You know what I mean? All you got to do is be consistent, bro, and don't do no bonehead plays. They just make, man, I'm talking about with the last minute of the game, bro, I'm like, these dudes trying to lose. They trying to lose.

21:11Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah. It, you know, Joe, I think the thing is when, unless, and the Lakers had the best in clutch situation win percentage in the NBA this year. Obviously, you have LeBron. Obviously, you have Luka. You have guys that have been in that moment. And you got two of the greats handling the basketball. Even Austin Reeves have played a lot of clutch situations, handled the ball, and made big-time plays. But when you have guys that haven't been in those situations, and now you don't have a calming factor, as in Kevin Durant, now all of a sudden, it's a lot of helter-skelter. Look, if they wanted to, if you go back and look at Shingun, his offhand, he hooked every time he go to the basket.

21:49Shannon Sharpe:Yes, sir. He does this every time. All you got to do is watch him, but then he call it. He did it like three times in a row.

21:55Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, look, ref ain't going to see everything, man. He going to, you know, so that's why when you have guys who are great defenders, like a Marcus Smart, you're able to get away with some of that stuff, you know, the little ticky-tack stuff that ref can't call everything, man. He going to call some, but he ain't going to call everything. You feel me? So, hey, look, I like to see, I like to see that the Lakers fall back to win this game because at one point, Uncle Ocho, it seemed like the Lakers had kind of gave up too. You know what I mean?

22:27Shannon Sharpe:I think they were, I think they had, you know what, we got a 2-1 lead, blah, blah, blah. And all of a sudden, they're like, hold on. Y 'all don't want to win this game. Hey, they don't want to win. Let's take it. All right.

22:38Chad Johnson:Yeah, hey, hey, hey. Because Jabari turned it over. I said, damn, what he throwing him the ball for? Just hold it. He turned it over. They come down. They get a bucket. Next thing you know, Bron slapped the ball from Reed Shepard from behind. He pump fake, shoot the three. I said, I be dang on. Yes. What? So when they went to overtime, I'm saying if I'm the Lakers, if I'm Bron, I'm saying ain't no way in hell we're going to lose this game tonight. You got to win this one. They gave us a second chance. We finna get on their ass tonight.

23:08Shannon Sharpe:Hey, if you notice the jump ball, LeBron and Aiton did the same thing. They pull with the right and tap with the left. and the officials missed it.

23:17Chad Johnson:Yeah, both times. Both times. You're right. You're right. Hey, hey, hey, them people, them pivotal plays, you know.

23:25Shannon Sharpe:Hell yeah.

23:26Chad Johnson:Having possession of the ball at those point in time. Yeah, the ref missed that. Because guess what? Because guess what?

23:32Shannon Sharpe:Even if we don't score at the other end, we're going to run time off the clock. There you go. We're running time off the clock.

23:38Chad Johnson:There you go. And then Marcus Smart, big shot, three in the overtime.

23:42Shannon Sharpe:Did that big three in the corner? Yeah, yeah, yeah. and free throws, made his free throws. I thought he was sensational. Down the stretch, he got off to a little shaky start, but I thought he was great down the stretch. A couple of turnovers, and he was looking like, hey. And Shingu, look, Shingu, he was playing the passing lanes. He did a great job of overplaying. Yeah. Did a great job of overplaying. LeBron ate turnovers. That's unacceptable. You can't have more turnovers than assists. You train, you track, you eat right. But if you're over 40, you've felt it. The results don't match the effort anymore.

I love this game. I love its history, its hope, its heartbreak, and above all, its beauty. Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things, football, soccer is the most important.

28:24Shannon Sharpe:He had eight turn over to six assists. Almost cost him. Almost cost him.

28:28Chad Johnson:Hey, you know what, man? Bron throw a lot of, he throw a lot of lackadaisical passes. He does. He almost got another one marked in the corner. Hell, almost my ass. He turned it over at the end when he was taking the ball out, trying to throw it to Luke Kennard. Oh, yeah, no, no, no.

28:42Shannon Sharpe:But he threw another one to Marcus Smart in the corner, and dude like depicted out of bounds when they scored. Yes.

28:48Chad Johnson:Yeah. So I don't know if that's, I don't know if that's fatigue sitting in, or he just was a little tired, but. Hey, Joe, you tired, now? He tired. You know how good of a passer LeBron is. You know how good of a facilitator he is, especially, listen, what we talk about, one of the closest things, one of the closest players when it comes to not wanting to be a shoot-first type of player, he's really good at passing the ball, but he tired out there. And when you're tired, fatigue makes a fool of us all. Hey, Ocho, I understand that, but he knows the significance of this game. You know what I mean?

29:21Chad Johnson:I mean, every game that that man played, every point that he scores, it goes down in history, bro. You know what I mean? Like, hey, look, he know they're going to scrutinize him on a whole totally different level. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's going to get scrutinized on a totally different level. So, hey, man, kudos to the Lakers, bro. The Rockets, it's over with. It's over with for them. I can't see them winning game four and going back. I can't see that. I'm just keeping it real. Good.

29:49Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you see Bronny getting there? Bronny hit a three? Hey, lob, dad. Hey, Dan, hey, Dan, feed me. With the left. Finish with the left. Up and under. Up and under. Barney earning his stripes.

30:01Chad Johnson:Yeah, hey, look, I don't think people really, I know I've talked about this before, but I think that's such a cool moment, bro, to be able to play on the same NBA team as your son. I'm talking about y 'all in the playoffs playing pivotal minutes. He coming in, you know, he was a nice little spark off the bench today. I thought he gave him some great minutes. I enjoy watching that, bro. I enjoy watching that, seriously. And it's so funny, the situation, a lot of people look at it, they complain, they make noise. Oh, he's only in the league because of who his dad is. But if you were to write a movie with a great story script, it would be something like this.

30:38And they live it in real life. Yeah. This is something Hollywood would make, you know? And the fact that it's come to fruition for LeBron is a testament to just, I mean, not only as a father, man, but I don't think you understand how difficult that is to be able to play with your son. I think LeBron was what? When LeBron got drafted, I mean, got drafted, LeBron was what? LeBron wasn't even born.

31:04Shannon Sharpe:LeBron wasn't born. What the hell do you mean he was that old? Yeah, I think LeBron got drafted.

31:09Chad Johnson:No, when LeBron got drafted, I think LeBron was born. I think he was. LeBron ain't 23?

31:14Shannon Sharpe:LeBron, Brittany, 23 years. LeBron was a baby. LeBron was like 20. 21 tops. LeBron was born October 6, 2004. LeBron, he was born in 2004.

31:24Chad Johnson:Oh, okay. Oh, that's okay.

31:26Shannon Sharpe:LeBron came to the league in June of 2003. I mean, but that's still crazy, though. It's still crazy for LeBron to still be playing and now actually playing with his son. It's not that he's playing, Ocho. Look at the level that he's still playing at. He's still average. LeBron James has never had a season in which he didn't average at least 20 points, at least five rebounds, at least five assists. The record is 10. The next closest to him is 10. of 25-5. That's crazy.

31:54Chad Johnson:And you know the Lakers knew that when they were drafting Bronny. They knew this was going to be a fairytale story. You know what I mean? To have LeBron on the Lakers playing with his son, they knew this would be talked about. You know what I mean?

32:09Shannon Sharpe:But he's playing with him. Look, I get it. And everybody, look, no matter what, it's just we got to stop thinking, our community, us, stop thinking nepotism is bad because they do it all the time and don't think second. Hello. Hello. They do it in politics. We got to stop thinking that nepotism is bad. Us. They do it in all their sports. They do it in basketball. They do it in football. But only us. He only did that because his dad. They do that all the time. Front office littered with family members. Yeah. Coach and staff littered with family members. And don't nobody say a damn thing, but us.

32:53Shannon Sharpe:And then all of a sudden, we jump out there. We jump out there. Oh, no. Like I said, I wish my kids wanted to be in media. I wish they wanted to be in TV. Because you damn right, they got a job. And they moving to the front of the line.

33:05Chad Johnson:Damn.

33:05Shannon Sharpe:If you don't like it, start you a company and hire your family. Well, yeah. But we got to stop this. They ain't going to stop complaining. and that's always been us in general. Damn. He's playing well. He's getting better and better. Y 'all realize the man almost died. They had to resuscitate and they brought him back. Yeah. Yeah. He's two years removed from that. Two. And here he is playing at the highest levels.

33:40Chad Johnson:Playing on the biggest stage.

33:42Shannon Sharpe:Stop judging him. He's never going to. I tell you what. I tell you what, Kevin Griffey said, okay, y 'all judging him against LeBron, name five players better than LeBron in the history of the game, but you think his offspring going to be him.

33:55Chad Johnson:Can't do it.

33:55Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all think Barry Bonds' son was going to be him? Y 'all think Emmitt Smith's son was going to be him? Jared Wright's son? Y 'all think Tom Brady or Peyton Manning's son is going to be the equivalent of those guys? Y 'all really believe that, huh?

34:07Chad Johnson:Don't happen like that. Hey, that really happens. Ever. Hold on. the closest we got, well, hell, maybe Griffey was better than his father.

34:16Shannon Sharpe:He was. And Barry was better than his dad, Bobby. And Bobby Barnes was a damn good player. So was Griffey Sr. Yeah. But they weren't their sons. Archie Manning was a damn good quarterback. He wasn't Peyton. And that's okay. Yeah. You don't normally get – I mean, come on now. You think God will give you that and say, you know what, I'm going to give you, and you know what? I might not make you LeBron, but I'm going to let you be at one point in time when you're in the NBA, you'll be a top 10 player. Come on. What have we seen that? Tennis, it doesn't matter. You go look at any sport. Maybe the closest you've gotten to it, maybe the whole Brett and Bobby, maybe that's the closest you got because I think both of those guys are in the Hall of Fame.

35:10Shannon Sharpe:that might have been the closest you've gotten to it.

35:17But, no. No.

35:20Shannon Sharpe:Damn. But it's unbelievable. It was unbelievable. I mean, hey, like you said, hey, he hit that three. He said, dad, sit there. Hey, he said, dad, sit that pick for your boy. Sit that pick for your boy. Ha! And then he ran down the court. Got an A.

35:35Chad Johnson:Yeah.

35:35Shannon Sharpe:I wish he'd be just like, boom, and home on the rim.

35:39Chad Johnson:Right, right. They're going to have their moments. They're going to have another crack at it. Yeah, I like J.J. throwing Bronny out there, you know, for a few minutes. And I think, you know, it gives him confidence too, walking Ocho. You know what I mean? Because he played pretty good today in them nine minutes that he played, five points. I just think when you're a young player and you get to see that ball go through the hoop, bro, it gives you confidence. You got to see that ball go through the hoop, man. and how you're playing hard on defense, and then you really, really feel like you belong.

36:13Chad Johnson:You feel me?

36:14Shannon Sharpe:And when you think about it, Joe, the mere fact that they put me in a playoff game, that they trust me enough in a game of this significance that they're willing to put my ass in the game, that tells you something right there. In a game like this, of this magnitude, this ain't a regular season game. This is a playoff. Your actual season can end if you don't take care of business. and they trust him enough. Yeah, they gave him five minutes. Hey, they gave him nine minutes. He got nine minutes. Had five points, two or two. One or one from the three, plus four, and a little nine minutes he got.

36:48Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Hey, man. This was a good game. This was a good game, fellas. And I just, I don't see Houston having enough to be able to get out this hole that they in. It's a wrap. You can't move.

37:04Shannon Sharpe:Maybe if KD come back, they can get a game in Houston.

37:07Chad Johnson:They might get good.

37:08Shannon Sharpe:But, Joe, don't show. But you expect LeBron James to be, John Spike Bronny to be Jason Tatum.

37:15Chad Johnson:Well, I think due to A.R. and Luka being out here, they ain't got no choice but to play him. They got to give them other guys at least a little break. So they got to throw him in there in spurts. You know what I mean? Bronny or KD? Who are you talking about? Bronny. I'm talking about Bronny. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

37:31Shannon Sharpe:But I'm saying, people look at, because a lot of times it's automatic. they judge our kids through us yeah hey your son oh your dad would have made that shot yeah oh your dad oh your dad would have hit that hey ocho would have caught that your dad oh your dad ran that right your dad got that i don't see your dad play so everything that your son does they compare they don't compare against people that he's playing against they compare them against you yeah y 'all do realize that we played at the highest level yeah i mean to compare a 15 16 17 a teenage kid to their dad that played in the professional ranks.

38:08Shannon Sharpe:And the stimuli is different. Joe didn't have. Ocho didn't have. Shannon didn't have. We went without. They have. They have. They got three. They got seven baths. They got seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms. They got three, four car garages. They get meals catered. They get to go to camps. Hello. Hello. The stimuli is different. You heard my brother say. Different. We looked out the window and we saw two different things. We looked out the same window, but we saw two different things. Right. Right. They're not looking out the window that we looked out of. The window we looked out of was very small.

38:45Shannon Sharpe:It was probably broken out. Hold on. And it had, hold on, it had balls on it too. Yeah.

38:52Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, hey. In those circumstances, that's how you get a dog. See, now, these kids growing up in these huge mansions, they don't know what a struggle is. So, you know what I mean? Yes. They don't understand the sacrifices our parents and grandparents had to make just for us to even play the game, bro. I mean, look. Yeah, it was hard to get shoes, Joe. Man, what's that say about? You ain't talking about getting a$25 for them shoes, Ocho. Hey, Ocho, my mama let the light bill, the gas bill not be paid, and she'll go buy me some shoes. You feel what I'm saying? Yes. We'll go without for like a week.

39:30Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. So I know what you're talking about.

39:33Shannon Sharpe:So it's different. But congratulations, Brian. Just keep doing what you're doing. Just keep improving in your game. And I know, hey, the comparisons, don't even worry about it. Just go do your thing. But the Lakers and them had to win this game, Joe and Ocho. Like I said, they had the lead, had this game in control, and they lost it in the third quarter. and in the fourth quarter, they let the physicality of Houston really start to bother them. I think some of the non-calls really started to bother them. And then all of a sudden, you find out you find yourself down. And I think, all right, Joe, I agree with you.

40:05Shannon Sharpe:I think they have resigned to the fact we had lost this game. But Houston said, hey, you know what? Let us snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Here you go. Take this one.

40:15Chad Johnson:Bro. You can have it. That's why it's – You know what?

40:19Shannon Sharpe:It kind of reminded you, like, you remember the Lakers, excuse me, Miami when they played San Antonio. That game's supposed to be over. All you got to do is make your free throws.

40:29Chad Johnson:When? When you talking about? In game six when Ray Allen hit that shot.

40:35Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was open out the court. Oh, yeah. All you got to do is make your free throws.

40:40Chad Johnson:Boy, that was a tough-ass shot Ray Allen made, though. The backfield in that corner. Hey, that was in Miami, too, Honjo. It was. When all the fans was leaving the arena? Yeah, he had... And they tried to get back... Pophead took Duncan out the game. Took Duncan out. He took Duncan out and Bosh got that rebound and kicked it out to Ray Allen.

41:02Shannon Sharpe:They never forgave because Danny Green tried to snowbird. He tried to leak out.

41:14Shannon Sharpe:And Ray Allen hit that shot. Yeah, yeah.

41:19Chad Johnson:Hell of a game. Hell of a game. That's why you got to, hey, hey, hey, in the post. Go ahead, Joe. In the postseason, bro, you got to be a little lucky, too. Not only do you got to be good, but you got to be a little lucky, too. And tonight was one of them nights for the Lakers, boy. I know they, hey, they going to sleep good tonight.

41:38Shannon Sharpe:The second team, Lakers became the second team in postseason history to win a playoff game, trailing by six points in the final seconds of regulation in the last 30 postseasons. Damn. That's how impressive what they did.

41:55Chad Johnson:Mm, mm, mm.

41:56Shannon Sharpe:Bronny by himself outscored the whole Rockets bench.

42:03Chad Johnson:He did. He did.

42:04Shannon Sharpe:So if Bronny doesn't belong in the NBA, what do you think about those other guys that's on the bench for the Houston Rockets? Do they belong? Man. Because one guy played 11 minutes and one guy played eight minutes. One guy had one point and the other guy had two points.

42:20Chad Johnson:Hey, but it just goes to show you that Emei Adoka, he has no faith in his bench. I'm talking about at all. You know, he threw Finney Smith out there for 11 minutes, but hell, he couldn't hit Nathaniel out there. You know what I'm saying? Like, he just, they got no contribution. You playing your starting five, everybody playing at least 45 minutes. What do you mean? The whole, shit, damn near the whole game. You got to expect that.

42:45Shannon Sharpe:Come playoff time, you got to look to play somewhere between 38 and 42 minutes in the game. Now, if you go overtime, that could be 45, that could be 47, whatever the case may be. But you know that you're going to probably play, a lot of times teams play, okay, their best players play the whole first quarter, and then they take the first five, six minutes of the second quarter, and then they play the whole third, and then they take the first five or six minutes. It all depends. If you're down by three or four, hey, come on back. I'm sorry, bro. I can't get your rest. Yeah. Because LeBron, I think, played the entire fourth quarter.

43:20Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hell, he had to.

43:22Shannon Sharpe:He had to. Same thing that he did in L.A. on Tuesday night.

43:26Chad Johnson:Yeah.

43:26Shannon Sharpe:So you understand that you're going to have to play up. The minutes are going to get up because the game bear more significance. Houston kicking himself. Oh, my God. I mean, think about it. Six points. You gave up a six-point lead in 30 seconds. And you know what, Joe? You ain't even going to shout it. I mean, you only got one shot at the basket. It was a four shot.

43:48Chad Johnson:They could have.

43:50Shannon Sharpe:Shingoon, they forced Shingoon on the sideline. LeBron got the rebound called timeout and had 1.9. And he almost zeroed that when he was. Boy, it would have been over. That would have been sick. Everybody would have been sick. LeBron hit that walk-off three. Oh. Good night, Irene. Hey, hey, hey.

44:09Chad Johnson:Ojo, LeBron would have hit that walk-off three. you know, it's you got MJ with game winners. He got nine. Myself, Kobe, and LeBron, we at eight. So they would have put him with MJ. I ain't gonna lie. Joe, Joe, how many game wins you got, Joe? I'm at eight. It's just something light. You feel what I'm saying? Okay, okay. It's something light. You feel me? Hey, I got to go back and do my homework on that. Now, I've been studying your game, you know, in open play. I ain't really study, you know, what you hear it on no buzzer beat, Joe. Oh, man, come on. What rock you been under? I ain't been under no rock, Joe.

44:46I been studying you, though, Joe. I been studying your mannerisms, your movements, you know, what you like to do, you know, depending on what side of the court you're on, which way you like to move. Hey, you can't study me, Ocho.

44:58Chad Johnson:I keep you off balance. I keep an even keel. You feel what I'm saying? You don't know whether I'm high or low, partner. You feel what I'm saying? I mean, I hear what you're saying, but I kind of got a gist of what you like to do, Joe, based off the film that I've studied so far, Joe. Ain't going to get it. Ain't going to get it. All right, Joe. I'm just telling you, Joe. I'm just letting you know.

45:19Shannon Sharpe:You were that boy, though. I can tell you that. Oh, Joe, in 2019, KD tore his Achilles tendon in the finals. In 2020, he missed the entire NBA season. In 2021, he went scoreless in overtime against the Bucs. 2022, he got swept in the first round by the Celtics. 2023, he was traded to Phoenix, lost in the second round to Denver. 2024, swept in the first round by Minnesota. 2025, traded to Houston, lost game seven, round one to the Warriors, and got hurt again in game one. Well, he got his own damn teammate hurt him before he even stepped on the damn court. And then he kind of tweaked his ankle, looked like he was going there and trying to grab a rebound, and the floor might have been a little slick and gave out on him.

46:05Chad Johnson:Damn, KD can't catch a break, can't he, man?

46:07Shannon Sharpe:Can't catch a break, man. He can't catch a break.

46:09Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, them hard-filing dudes, they got over there. I can see. I can see. Probably was Tate who took him out in practice.

46:16Shannon Sharpe:Hey. Come on, Joe. Come on. So how are we going to look? You know the thing, Joe? How are we going to look at KD? Because we know he's going to be, when it's all said and done, I think me just looking at it, he's the only guy that I feel really comfortable that still has a realistic chance to catch LeBron for the simple fact he don't put a lot of stress on his body with the way that he plays. He played 78 games this year, averaging about 25 and a half points a game, 26 points a game. So if he plays another six seasons, theoretically he could catch it. Playing at that same pace. Hold on. Hold on.

46:57Catch him and be a little bit more specific on what you mean he can catch him exactly in what area. Before he scored.

47:04Chad Johnson:He ain't catching him, man. Hey, listen. First off, I think he can play at a high level, but due to him being somewhat injury prone. Yes. What is he, 37? Yeah, he about to be 38. Yeah, you talking about another six years. Man, he going to be well into his 40s. I know we see Bron playing well into his 40s. He's 41. He's going to be 38 this year. Yeah.

47:29Shannon Sharpe:So over the next club season, he'll be 38.

47:32Chad Johnson:That's rare, man. That's rare. For him to play another six years and play at this extremely high level, that's going to be tough.

47:42Shannon Sharpe:It is. But that's assuming LeBron calls it a career after this. I can see LeBron playing enough. I can see LeBron getting the 45 ,000 points.

47:51Chad Johnson:Man, let me tell y 'all something. LeBron may never say it, but he going to try to put this thing out of reach. Absolutely. That's what he tried to do. Yeah. Yeah. Well, hold on. Out of reach? It's out of reach. Yeah, but I'm saying.

48:01Shannon Sharpe:I'm talking about Kareem.

48:02Chad Johnson:Yeah, I'm saying. And then LeBron got it. Yeah, I'm saying he's still playing, and he's still playing at a high level. Man, that man ain't finna stop playing no time soon. He coming back for at least another two, maybe three years, bro.

48:14Shannon Sharpe:You see what he's doing in the playoffs. He said, hold on. Where's that crowd that says I'm old? Where's that crowd that says I can't do it? All I know is I'm leading a team. I'm averaging 25 points, probably seven rebounds, probably seven, eight assists. and I'm leading my team. So I'm just trying to figure out where is that crowd now? Y 'all saw when Luka and AR went out, and I had to be the lead dog. And the idea to Rod, you have a lead dog. Think about it. When you have a lead dog, once he can't lead anymore, they put him in the pen. Yeah. Yeah. LeBron James is one of the few guys that's been the lead dog for 22 and a half years.

48:56Shannon Sharpe:because when Luka came, he took a backseat to Luka. Now this year, he took a backseat not only to Luka, but to AR also.

49:03Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

49:04Shannon Sharpe:But he said, now look, y 'all look, if I really had to do this, y 'all don't think I could leave again? I can.

49:11Chad Johnson:Yeah. I feel. Yeah. Hey, hey, and I think he's relishing this moment too, Arcan Ocho, meaning he's enjoying this. He's enjoying playing point forward to where he can make guys around him better, score when need be. and the fact that nobody gave the Lakers a chance in this series because of AR and Luka being out. Everybody thought they was going to lose this series. Hell, some people were even talking about him getting swept. Yep.

49:36Shannon Sharpe:You know what I mean? So for them to be – But I wouldn't be shocked though, Joe. Would you be shocked if KD got 40 ,000? He's at 32 ,000 right now. Could you see him play in another four years? KD, I could see him play in another four years, yeah. I think he can get Kareem. I think he can pass Kareem. Now, whether or not he get 40, we can have that discussion. But do I see him getting another passing Kareem and getting 38, 5, 38, 8, maybe 39 ,000? Absolutely.

50:04Chad Johnson:Did you say he had 32 now? He had 32 now. Yeah, he can get to 38, 30. It's just tough, man. It's tough, bro. I think he can do it, though. I think he can do it. But he ain't going to pass LeBron.

50:19Shannon Sharpe:After the game, I mean, Adoka gave a blunt assessment of the team's late game collapsed. Said, youth and inexperience is no longer an excuse. Most of our guys been on the floor late, have four or five years experience. Doka said guys were instructed to do certain things in the final seconds and they just didn't do them. Hey, I ain't finna let y 'all do that. I ain't finna let y 'all talk about hey, these guys last four, five, they got four, five years of experience under their belt. And they've been in situate, maybe not postseason experience like this late in the ball game, but Ocho, come on now.

50:50Shannon Sharpe:Joe, you know damn well You don't throw the ball ahead like you just saw Duke lose a chance to go to the national championship game with the very play. Yeah.

51:03Chad Johnson:Yeah.

51:03Shannon Sharpe:Trying to throw it ahead.

51:08You train, you track, you eat right. But if you're over 40, you've felt it. The results don't match the effort anymore. That's not willpower. It's biology. Hormones drop. You may know me as the author of The Fault in Our Stars, and now I guess also as the co-host of The Away End, a brand new world soccer podcast. I'm Daniel Alarcon, a writer and journalist, and John and I have known each other since we were kids. My first World Cup was Mexico 86. I was nine years old, I watched every game, and I fell in love. On our new podcast, The Away End, we'll share with you the magic of international football, all leading up to the 2026 World Cup. For us, soccer... Football. ...is a story we've shared for over 30 years, since Daniel was the star player on our high school soccer team.

53:57Very debatable. And I was their most loyal and sometimes only fan. I love this game. I love its history, its hope, its heartbreak, and above all, its beauty. Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things, football, soccer is the most important. Listen to The Away End with Daniel Alarcon and John Green on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

54:25What's up?

54:26Shannon Sharpe:I'm Miles Turner. And I'm Brianna Stewart. And our podcast, Game Recognized Game, has never been done before. Two active players giving you a real look at our lives and what we actually think on and off the court. nothing's off limits. We talk trade requests. What's the vibe of that when it's like your star player is like, well, I want to leave and then actually now I'm going to stay. We talk tanking. I mean, honestly, like, I might get in trouble for this answer, but I think it's like definitely happening in the WBA.

54:55Chad Johnson:And yeah, we talk about our mistakes too. They pulled me to the side and was like, hey man, we got a call last night, man, you can't be rolling around the city like this the night before games,

55:04Shannon Sharpe:you know, doing this, doing whatever. And of course, family stories. And I'll be like, Mommy, why did you miss that? Mommy, do you play basketball? Check out Game Recognized Game with Stewie and Miles on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

55:39Shannon Sharpe:I don't want that joke.

55:41Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, I know. Hey, look, it may don't want to blame it on the youth, but hell, that's what it is. You got 20, 21, 22-year-olds out there leading your team, bro. And, yeah, they played in the playoffs in the postseason before, but it hadn't been at this magnitude, fellas. Right. They don't have that veteran presence who can help them along the way. Meaning, can you imagine if Fred Van Fleet was out there? He wouldn't let them dudes turn that ball over like they hit. Yes. Yeah, you know what I mean? Even if KD. And he can knock down big shots. Yeah. Even if KD was out there, he'd have probably been handling the ball, and they probably would have doubled him.

56:14Chad Johnson:But I don't think he would have turned that ball over like that. And I know he's had some turnovers in this series. But you can't tell me, having a veteran presence out there, bro, that they would have been still turning that ball over. I just can't. Not at the end. Not at the way they were turning it over at the end. It was just some of those passes, Uncle Ocho. I'm like, man, what in the hell was he thinking about? Because I don't want you to file me.

56:37Shannon Sharpe:You don't want to go to that line. I got a question for both of y 'all. Is Udoka on the hot seat? Nah.

56:47Chad Johnson:I don't think so. Only reason why I don't think so is because, like I've said before, without them three veteran guys, Steven Adams, KD, Fred Van Fleet, they're going to give him a pass on this one. So they'll get another crack at it. They'll give him another crack at it.

57:06Shannon Sharpe:But the thing, the problem that you're going to have, Joe and Ocho, is Steven Adams. Go look at his history the last five years. What have you been doing, Ocho, Joe? Injured.

57:16Chad Johnson:Yeah, he's been injured, yeah.

57:17Shannon Sharpe:Injured. So the likelihood of moving forward, he's able to give you 65, 70 games, isn't very likely. Right. He's a big man. And when big men start getting injured, it happens more. It happens now with greater regularity, and it keeps them out for longer periods of time.

57:38Chad Johnson:You're absolutely right. You're absolutely right.

57:42Shannon Sharpe:Well, you got to be doing something. So for me, I really can't count on Steven Adams because I've seen his injury history. I saw what happened when he was in Memphis. He was hurt all the time. Yeah, teams are different when he's in the lineup as opposed to when he isn't. But the problem is that he's out of the lineup more times than he's in the lineup.

58:01Chad Johnson:You're right. You're right. Hey, what the Lakers going to do by eight, though? At 30-something minutes, Uncle Ocho, you, man. You get two points? Come on, man. And six rebounds? What are they supposed to do with that?

58:13Shannon Sharpe:He should cut his hands off and donate him to science. Instead of why I ask him so they can study him, so why they so bad?

58:19Chad Johnson:Now, what I'm saying is they need him to produce. But I'm saying, listen, we've seen him put up 20 and 10 in the postseason, bro. Yes. All I'm saying, you can't come out here and give us a deuce and six boys in 30-something minutes. Okay, I'm sorry. Ain't no telling which Aiden you're going to get from game to game. And it's a good thing everybody else was on tonight. Con, sis, stunt, see.

58:45Shannon Sharpe:That's what he likes. That's all he comes down to. What did they say in Portland? Excuse me, what did they say in Phoenix? What did they say in Portland? at this point in time we are what we repeatedly do damn therefore it's not it becomes an act so this is who he is at some point in time we've got to accept the fact nah

59:15Chad Johnson:he showed us different we got to accept it this is who he is he's What? He too up and down. Joe, he inconsistent. My thing is, you done teased us because you done showed us that you can play at this high level, bro. You know, and Rockets ain't got no... But not consistently. Yeah, Rockets ain't got no real interior presence like that.

59:37Shannon Sharpe:They ain't got no interior presence. Shingoon is not a defender. No. He pawn water soft. He ain't no defender. He what on? I like water. You know, pawns only got no ripple. ain't got no salt, ain't got nothing. But that's the problem with him. This is who, you see, what do we always say? If you're dealing with a man or a woman and they ain't got this history, you accept someone as they are, not how you wish them to be, and you'll be fine. If you accept him or her as they are, not how you wish them to be. See, Joe, Ochoa and I, we keep wishing Aiton to be something. What has he shown us? What has he shown his team?

1:00:25Shannon Sharpe:What has he shown the NBA? We keep wishing.

1:00:30Chad Johnson:Well, my thing is, if the Lakers gonna continue to advance, he can't play like this in the next round.

1:00:43Shannon Sharpe:He play like this in the next round? Joe, tell me, what gives you what gives you this notion, this grand idea that all of a sudden he's going to be something, what you've seen from him since he's been a number one overall pick? In the last seven years, what has shown you that he's going to give you consistency? I'll tell you one thing. If you're playing against OKC and you don't step up and want to play better than what you played tonight.

1:01:13Chad Johnson:They're going to have this big ass in picking roles all night long.

1:01:17Shannon Sharpe:All night long. And he doesn't know because he won't show. He tries. He's backing up. You can't do that with shooters. You can't, bro. You see early on Smith is draining the three. Why would you ever sink? Fight over that. Hey, I got to come right now, Joe. I got to show. I can't drop.

1:01:44Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:01:45Shannon Sharpe:Right.

1:01:45Chad Johnson:He showed you. KYP, bro. You got to know your personnel. Got to know your personnel. Okay, Ocho. I think especially when you get in the playoffs because every possession is so valuable. And when you squander away possessions and give up open looks and they come to bite you, that hurts, bro. That hurts. The good thing is Singoon ain't no damn hell of a three-point shooter. You know, but he got some block work. You know, he got out on the day. Yeah.

1:02:18Shannon Sharpe:He got a nice soft touch around the rim.

1:02:20Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, look, what I'm saying from Aiden, Uncle Ocho, I'm not asking for 20 and 10 every night. But 14, 15 points a night with about 8 to 12 rebounds. Bro, that's doable. That's doable. Hold on. Hold on, Uncle Joe. Now, if you want him to do that, right? Shoot. LeBron know that. What LeBron should do. He's trying. You come in. I give him the ball.

1:02:41Shannon Sharpe:If I give him the ball and he turn around and hand it. Give him the ball and let him. What am I supposed to do, Ocho? Let him get in rhythm. Let Aiden get in rhythm early so you know you got him for the rest of the game. It's no different than when we're playing football. Ocho, if I throw you four passes in the first quarter and you drop off for him, you think I'm going to keep feeding you? Hell no. Okay, I see what you're saying. You just started the show talking about what we're going to do with Aiden's hands. You just started the show with that, and now you're talking about let him get in the rhythm.

1:03:11Listen, this series is over, right? I'm talking about the next series. I'm not saying that the Lakers could win the next series, but at least give yourself a chance. In order to give yourself a chance, everybody got to be aligned. Everybody got to be on one accord. Goddamn joke. One band, one sound. Ain't no one band, one sound unless Aiden is doing what he needs to do. That's 15 or 20 a goddamn night. Or it's going to be a gentleman's sweep going the other way.

1:03:37Chad Johnson:Or, or. you hope that AR come back. I just think the dudes with these hamstrings injuries, like Jalen Williams for OKC and Luka Dodson, I'm going to be honest with y 'all. It's going to be hard pressing me to see these dudes come back and be really, really effective like they were before. Y 'all know the hamstring going to play. Look at Gordon. He set out the other night for Denver. It's just too much, bro. You can't, because you need that hamstring for everything. That should get up. everything you take off, that thing gonna pull it? Boy, you can't even get up out the block. You know what it is, Ocho.

1:04:15Chad Johnson:You know how that ham is? Hey, all you gotta feel is that little pinch. It's a wrap. It'll take your aggressiveness away. I mean, look. You gotta shut it down.

1:04:27Shannon Sharpe:The thing is, look, I don't know how to do it. You can't inject the hamstring. You PRP in there. You do that and try to speed up the healing process. I don't know if these guys these guys ain't like old school old school guys me

1:04:41Chad Johnson:you shooting that thing up

1:04:43Shannon Sharpe:you out there I'm gonna try I'm gonna try that thing that thing gotta be tenderism that thing gotta fall off the bone for me not to get out there right right right I just kidding hey y 'all know my history I shot up everything I done shot up shoulder ribs ankle knee I done took plenty of shots in my butt cheeks yeah I'm getting out there. I'm trying. I know. Hey, Joe, I remember in practice one week, I think it might have been a Wednesday. It might have been a Wednesday practice. I think we might have been going through goal. I mean, not through goal line. You know, it was an open field. Open field of play.

1:05:21I think I ran a goal route. And, you know, I was stepping on the DB toes. And, you know, you hit that end of the step to let the quarterback know to let it go. Once you hit that seventh step on that. And I felt that right. I felt that right pull just a little bit. Just a little bit. Man, Joe, I pulled up so fast. And after practice, the game, obviously, we know we play on Sunday. I got, you know what dry needling is? I do know what dry needling is. I got dry needling. I got the cup of thing. And I did the icing stem. That's all you can do. The icing stem. Listen, I ain't practiced the rest of that week.

1:06:02I went out there Sunday. They put some type of something warm on there. and then he wrapped it up. I'm not sure what it was they put on there, but he wrapped it up real tight. And, hey, that's the closest joke I ever got to getting injured when I had just a little tween, just a little tween. I'm saying, were you able to play the game and be effective? Oh, yeah, I played the game. I played the game. I don't know if it's because it was constricted so tight that it didn't bother me in game. But after that, I was good. But the rest of the season, I had to keep doing the dry needling, getting the cupping, and doing the icing.

1:06:34Yeah, I'm good.

1:06:35Shannon Sharpe:Not there. Hey, hey, hey. Well, you know, Shauna, you know, down the road, I say, look here. Right now, I ain't down the road. Right now, I'm right here. When I get down the road, I worry about all that.

1:06:45Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:06:46Shannon Sharpe:And all that coming back now, Ocho. But I wouldn't change a thing. Yeah, I got bilateral hip replacement. Yeah, I'm going to have to get my knee replaced. Absolutely. I wouldn't change a thing. Knowing what I know now, if I was playing right now, I'd do it all again. Yeah, yeah. Do it all again.

1:07:02Chad Johnson:Yeah. Boy, hey. Boy, I had that big toe. That big toe. Y 'all know something about that turf toe, don't you? My brother had to have surgery. Oh, I ain't never had no turf toe, Joe. You had turf toe, Joe? Man, the dude stepped on the back of my heel and jammed my big toe into the ground. This was a game seven against Toronto. We ended up winning, but we had to play the Miami Heat the very next series. And every game, bro, I had to get shot up in my big toe. Oh, my God. That's what my brother did. Oh. What? You heard, Joe? Oh, Joe, I couldn't practice. I couldn't do nothing without that shot. I couldn't do nothing.

1:07:38Hold on. Y 'all got tore it all? Yeah, they got tore it all.

1:07:41Chad Johnson:We could just take the pill. They didn't even give me. They told me I had to get shot up, bro. They didn't give me no other stuff.

1:07:47Shannon Sharpe:They put that cortisol in the anti-inflammatory. My brother had that, Joe. He got shot up, didn't play, and then they put that steel plate so you can't bend it. Yeah. So you got to run solid. Jack Lambert, it forced him to retire. Jonathan Ogden, that's what got Jonathan Ogden. Ask time. Time had the same thing. Time wasn't the same once he messed his toe up. Well, you messed that big toe up. You don't know how much you need. That's anything. Hey. You ain't no three-toed sloth. Only a sloth can operate with three toes. Not a human being. Hey, but if that big toe, if something wrong with that big toe,

1:08:23Chad Johnson:boy, you can't do nothing.

1:08:24Shannon Sharpe:You can't do everything you want. I had an uncle that he was in pulpwood, and he ended up, he had a big bow blade. Y 'all know what a bow blade chainsaw is? It's that big bow. It's like a bow. You can Google it. Google a bow blade chainsaw. Because you got the straight, you got the straight, the blade like this, and you got a bow blade. Right. But he had that bow blade. He on the long, went through, sliced his toes off. Oh! Ah!

1:09:01Shannon Sharpe:Hey, we had some trauma, we had some trauma, we had some trauma in the family, Ojojo. I'm just saying, we had some trauma. Damn. Oh. Ain't supposed to have on them steel-toed boots. Boy, you know that thing will do to it. If it go through a 40-inch thick lawn, what the hell you think is going to do some steel-toed boots?

1:09:21Chad Johnson:Oh, I'm just, hey, the visual, the visual of that happened, though. Ojo, you used to have to cut grass when you was younger? Man, my grandma had me out the heck I had to do chores. I get$15 to do the grand, Joe. What kind of shoe you were cutting that grand in? Oh, back then, Travel Fox. You remember Travel Fox? What was that? Barefooted. Nah, no, it's a shoe. Hey, Unc, you don't know about Travel Fox? I know somebody in here know about Travel Fox. I ain't never heard of them, Joe. Hey, listen, hey, Joe, I know somebody in the chat know about Travel Fox. I had Travel Fox and a pair of old clogs.

1:09:55I know you know about clogs.

1:09:56Chad Johnson:I don't know. I don't know. What'd you say, Joe?

1:09:59Shannon Sharpe:Out Joe?

1:10:01Chad Johnson:Clarks. Clarks.

1:10:02Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I'm not familiar with Clarks.

1:10:03Chad Johnson:Y 'all don't know about Clarks? I've heard of Clarks, but I don't know what type of shoes you're talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I had a pair of travel, like, really old. It was old. Old pair of travel fox and an old pair of goddamn Clarks. And that's what I would cut the grass in. Hey, boy.

1:10:17Shannon Sharpe:My sister was cutting grass. Well, because somebody was cutting. I think it might have been me and my brother was cutting grass. and my sister was picking up stuffing out the way and something I don't know if it was a piece of glass or a rock kicked out and hit her and hit her cut her up bust her leg open big ass but you know you ain't going to do it you better get some cobwebs some spiderwebs to put on that thing that's all you got you got some cobwebs that's it no stitches no Nah. I got, me and my aunt got to fight one day, rest her soul, Gladys, old Bobcat. Man, Bobcat picked me up and slammed me on the inchworm and bust my chin open right here.

1:11:06Shannon Sharpe:You can't see it because I grew a beard. But anyway, a mole came, probably about as big as my pinky right here. Yeah. Mole came. Yeah. My aunt Marydale, she passed too, rest her soul, Marydale. she say let me cut that thing off I said okay what I need she said go to the we had a horse named Ringo at the time she said go to the horse stall and get like five or six strands of horse hair and I'm going to cut it off she put some ice on that thing

1:11:39Shannon Sharpe:I was a guinea pig man they didn't tell me anything I let her play doctor on me she put some ice on that thing for about five minutes and got numb She got some scissors. Started cutting, then took the horse here. Ah!

1:11:56Chad Johnson:Oh, no.

1:11:57Shannon Sharpe:Man, I bled so much, I like to bled the dill.

1:12:02Shannon Sharpe:She told me, don't tell daddy. I said, I ain't going to tell him because I told you you could do it. Yeah, but that thing, man, that's the riveting we have. It was cobwebs. That was the gauze. That was the gauze. We didn't have no damn gauze. You use paper towels or you use cobwebs. So you go to Chicken Coop or you go to the pack house or somewhere, find cobwebs and you stuff it in there.

1:12:28Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:12:29Shannon Sharpe:The cobwebs?

1:12:34Boy,

1:12:38you had a time when you was a shorty boy. You train, you track, you eat right. But if you're over 40, you've felt it. The results don't match the effort anymore. That's not willpower.
