In short

NCAA Tournament recap and debate, focusing on Michigan’s 91-73 rout of Arizona and UConn’s 3rd title game in 4 years after beating Illinois; then discussion of Geno Auriemma and coaching/discipline in sports.

Guests (backgrounds)

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson (former NFL Pro Bowler/All-Pro; co-host of Big Three/Nightcap). Joe Johnson (7-time NBA All-Star; played for Atlanta Hawks; University of Arkansas alum). The host is “Unc” (Julian Edelman appears only as an ad voice).

Key claims

Michigan’s defense and pressure on Arizona were decisive; Yaxel Lindenburg’s limited minutes didn’t matter because Michigan’s depth and scoring runs overwhelmed Arizona. Michigan’s big man “Big Mara” (Ademara) dominated paint and glass (26 points, 9 rebounds). UConn’s Dan Hurley is credited with driving belief; UConn held Illinois to 62 points and limited turnovers in the first half. Hurley is compared to elite coaching runs (only Wooden is mentioned as matching 3 titles in 4 years).

Notable examples

Michigan’s 90+ points in five straight NCAA games; UConn’s 3-12 threes in the Final Four and no first-half turnovers; alumni presence (Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, etc.) as motivation.

Please drink responsibly and stay safe. Guys, if you watch the Michigan Wolverines and they were dominant tonight, they win, take down the number one seed, 91-73. but that 18 points, it really wasn't that close. Michigan took control of this ball game and they never really looked back. Their best player, Yaxel Lindenburg, he only played 14 minutes, but he was excellent in those 14 minutes. A perfect three or three from the three-point line.

7:05Shannon Sharpe:It's going to be very interesting to see how that, because it looked like he got either a knee bruise or a thigh bruise, but he was continuously on that bike trying to keep it loose. Guys, we've all had that thigh bruise. Boy, that thing going to be held tomorrow morning. But good thing they didn't need him tonight. They put five guys in double figures, and they went going away. They were sensational at one point. They were 10 or 12. No, 8 or 10 in the second half from the three-point line. They were sensational tonight. They were unbelievable, and they pull away from Arizona. I know it's 18 points, but the game really wasn't that close.

7:44Shannon Sharpe:They were ahead by one point, like 31, 32 points in the ballgame. Wow. Michigan, the first team in NCAA tournament history to score 90-plus points in five straight games in a single tournament. They've been outstanding. Obviously, we're going to talk about the game. They're going to be facing the UConn Huskies, who did an unbelievable job, and they just find ways to scratch and claw and win games. Joe, watching this ballgame, how did Michigan make it look so easy? They pressure Arcan Ocho. The pressure that they caused earlier in the game, getting off to a great start. Lindenburg. Is that how you say his name?

8:23Shannon Sharpe:Lindenburg. He didn't have to do a whole lot tonight, but he played some meaningful minutes. You know what I mean? They believe. They say they're the best team ever in Michigan. They showed it tonight because there's no way I thought Arizona would go out like this, man. The shellacking they put on my Razorbacks, I can't believe it. I'm like, who is this? Why didn't y 'all play like this the other night? Man, what's going on? Boy, let me tell you something. Michigan got some big boys. Michigan got their 7 '3 boy, Big Mara, down there. Oh, yeah. He had 26 and 9 tonight. He was controlling the glass, the paint, catching lobs.

9:00Shannon Sharpe:Michigan got a lot. They got a lot of guys that they can hit you with in ways. They got great guard play. I know the Elliott kid didn't play great tonight. He was 5 '17". But for the most part, they together. They play great defense. Anke Ocho. They play great defense. And they believe in one another, man. So, I'm going to be honest with y 'all, man. I think I got Michigan winning this thing. Yeah, you look at Trey McKinney. Before you go Ocho, he was sensational with the three-point line. Six of nine from the field, four of six from the three-point line. And like I said, it was the second half because seemingly every time Arizona would try to mount something, they would hit them.

9:35Shannon Sharpe:They'd hit them three, two, three, two. And the next thing you know, they'd try to cut it down, and the lead is pushed back above 20. And so give Michigan credit. They found a way. And like you said, Lindenburg, he didn't play tonight. He only played 14 minutes. But in those 14 minutes, he kind of got in foul trouble early. I'm like, okay, Arizona, this is your opportunity. He's in foul trouble. Their best player is in foul trouble. You need to seize this opportunity. They couldn't take advantage of it. And Michigan was able to stay ahead even with their best player on the bench. And then they just pulled away in the second half.

10:06Ocho, Michigan, do a number on Arizona.

10:09Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they did.

10:11Joe Johnson:Listen, offense, great defense. Joe, like you said, pressure. Lindenburg getting himself in foul trouble, but it didn't matter. Ademara down in the paint. He owned everything on the offense end and on the defense end. Had the glass. They really dominated the whole goddamn game. Off the bench, that goddamn McKinney boy. Boy, young Bull was stroking that pause. He let me go.

10:37Shannon Sharpe:He let me go. He was.

10:38Joe Johnson:He was letting it go. I'm sorry I'm using the wrong words, but it was a good game. It was a good game. And I just want to, I also want to mention, matter of fact, you know, I know we haven't put those brackets up right now. They don't need to.

10:51Shannon Sharpe:It's over with. It's over with.

10:52Joe Johnson:I know. So I just want y 'all to be honest with the people and the people that's watching, who won?

10:57Shannon Sharpe:There's no winner. No winner. Ain't no winner. Ain't no winner. Ain't no winner, Ocho.

11:01Joe Johnson:Don't do that.

11:02Shannon Sharpe:It ain't no winner.

11:03Joe Johnson:Don't do that. Don't do that.

11:04Shannon Sharpe:There is no winner, Ocho.

11:05Joe Johnson:I still have a team. I still have a team. in the in the in the what what team you got come on wait wait wait wait wait wait wait miss hey i know ass know now come on now we we got to win them you had duke in arizona i did you did okay but listen i'm still i'm i still beat both of y 'all i know that well damn nobody wanted to try to win the fame you're talking about you could

11:34Shannon Sharpe:So all these people that filled out bracket, you just tried to beat me and Joe, huh? That's all that matter. That's the only thing that matter.

11:41Joe Johnson:Hey, matter of fact, hold on.

11:43Shannon Sharpe:What this man got now? He done got him a crowd or something, Joe. Nah. And still. Hey, you got to chill, bro. Look at him.

11:52Joe Johnson:What we talking about? And still, huh? Hey, I'm not worried about it. Listen, I'm not worried about nobody else bracket. Hey, Joe. I'm not worried about nobody else's bracket except y 'all. I beat y 'all too. That's all that matters. Now, Arizona might not have made it, right? But my bracket went the first. What do you mean might not? They didn't. Hey, calm down. I don't like your tone. I don't like your tone. Let's take the decibels down a little bit. Hey, I appreciate y 'all playing, but as far as I'm concerned, I mean, the King Ocho is here. Man, chill, bro. You don't get no crown for that Ocho.

12:29Joe Johnson:You didn't win. I beat y 'all, too. That's all that matters. But you got to win, dog. No, I beat y 'all, too. That's all that matters.

12:39Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Lord. Look, check this out. Check this out. Back to the Michigan and Arizona. When you look at Mara, Lindenburg, and Elliott, you know, those are upperclassmen, Uncle Ocho, juniors and seniors. When you look at Arizona, key guys, Cole, Pete, Burrs, you know, So, Birds 4 for 16, 13 points. It's going to be hard to win like that because you're counting on your big dogs, your young guns to come through and play great. Cole Pete, 6 for 18. He had 11 rebounds, 16 points. But it's just hard to win, dog. When you're shooting inefficiency like that against a team like Michigan who grinds defensively, their offense is fueled off their defense, and they just look comfortable out there from the start, man.

13:25Shannon Sharpe:Man, it's like Michigan, they kind of know they're the best team that's left in this tourney, Arca Ocho, and they playing like it. They did. They did. I mean, I expected – I thought the game would be much closer. Like you said, Joe, considering what we have seen from Arizona all year, especially in the tournament, they had looked really, really good. And Michigan, they had been playing really well also. Yeah. But I expected the game to be a lot closer than what it was. Man. This game really wasn't close. Nah. They cut it to single digits, but it was like, they cut it like eight or nine, but then Michigan took right back off.

13:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, and it was like they could never breathe. They could never decompress because they were always climbing uphill. They never leveled off. And so every time that you're like, okay, we about to make a run, and the next thing you know, Michigan would hit two threes back to back and get a layup. And so it was a single-digit game. Now it's pushed back up to 12-14. Yeah. And once they got it to 12 and 14 after that second run with about 15 minutes to go into second, it was over. It went from like 15, and the next thing you know, you look up, it's 30. I'm like, damn. Yeah, Michigan tough. I'm like, damn.

14:39Shannon Sharpe:Michigan tough. They brought the Fab Five out. They had a telecast. They was kind of commentating on. I thought that was cool. Yeah, I like it. So, hey, man, them dudes backing it up. Okay, Ocho, Michigan. They're packing their words up, bro. They say they feel like they the best team in Michigan ever. They're one game away. They're one game away.

15:00Shannon Sharpe:It's going to be very interesting to see because, like I said, that original team that won it in 89, they were like that. I mean, you know, Glenn Rice. I mean, Glenn Rice averaged 30. Hell, I'm not so sure. I mean, Terry Mills. I think Terry Mills was the first round draft pick. Lloyd Bott, Sean Higgins, Ramil Robinson. All those guys played in the NBA. Obviously, Glenn Rice is the most well-known because he won a championship with Kobe. And I think Rice was an all-star, if I'm not mistaken. I think he made the all-star game a couple times. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When he was with Miami? Yeah, Miami.

15:42Shannon Sharpe:He was big in Charlotte. Yeah, yeah. So, they have another game to prove, and this is why you play the game, and J. Rose said, you know, I ain't got no problem with that. We weren't able to get it done. We did go to back-to-back. It just so happens we ran into that juggernaut and, you know, we ran into Duke. Ain't no harm in losing to Duke because you look at the guys there, Leighton and they had Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley. Ain't no harm in losing that. They were so close against Carolina and C. Webb called that time out. It would have been very interesting had that not happened. What would have happened in that ball game?

16:18Shannon Sharpe:if it goes to overtime or whatever happens, but we'll never know with that. But Michigan does have an opportunity to – this team here, these players here, Luxembourg, Johnson Jr., and all these guys, they have an opportunity to leave a legacy, to be one of the teams that won a national championship. And there hadn't been very many basketball teams in Michigan that won a championship. So they'll definitely have something. They can come back 10, 15, 20 years from now. Because think about how we look at the Fab Five and they didn't win a championship. Just imagine had they won a championship, how people would look at the Fab Five.

16:51Shannon Sharpe:Cause they were the culture, they were the culture back then. The high socks, black socks, all black socks, big ass baggy, five inch shorts. Man, they were hard bro. That was a tough team. They had a Jayler role pad like he had on Knickers. Man, hey can you imagine what NIL would have been like with them dudes? Oh my God. That would have been nice.

17:13Joe Johnson:It would have been nice.

17:15Shannon Sharpe:Hey, them boys deserve some back pay or something, man. You mean legal NIL. There are a couple of things going on, but we ain't going to talk about that. But we know what you mean, though, Joe. Yeah, yeah. Legal NIL. The first game, UConn tops Illinois to advance to its third title game in four years. This is a case to be made that Tars Reed's 17 points and 11 rebounds today had been the best player in the tournament. 21:55Shannon Sharpe:4-7 from 3. UConn held the best offense in the country to a 34 % clip from the field. They connected on a barrage of 3-12, the most in Final Four game for the program. The Huskies didn't commit a turnover in the first half, a record under Bobby Hurley. Man, when you look at the way they play, I don't know what it is about this kid. And I think Mullins is a freshman. And in the first half, he and Reed got off to this great start. Yep. And then they were cold. But when they needed to get a bucket, man, you see, hey, Hurley got no problem dialing up a play, and the kid hit a three. And he hit the game when it mattered most.

22:39Joe Johnson:He did the same thing last game. He was shooting three after three and was missing and missing and miss after miss. But when they needed it most, he showed up in the last game and was able to get them that win. Same thing tonight. now I'm not sure I'm not sure if they'll be able to get away with it playing a team like Michigan that that's much better that can get you behind the eight ball you know down down double digits

23:03Shannon Sharpe:real quick you know what we when I look at this Joe I don't know what people think I mean but for him to win three championships in four years you're looking at something only wooden is doing man what's not not not not you know you look at coach K you look at coach Smith and you look at Coach Knight, and you look at Roy Williams, and you look at some of these guys, only Wooden. Here he has an opportunity to win three championships in a four-year span. Now, I don't know, look, I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but, boy, he being – I mean, you think about when you can say only one other coach can say they've done this, and that's Coach Wooden.

23:41Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Who won 10, and I think he won like seven, eight in a row. God damn. Hey, when you got somebody like Hurley at the helm, Ojo, I think he drives belief in his players. I think they take out to him as far as his attitude, his fieriness, how they compete. Like, Illinois is a pretty good team, man. They're probably the highest scoring team in NCAA this year. And for them to get held to 62 points, I didn't think it was a pretty game, but I thought Connecticut controlled the game, the entire game. You know what I mean? Pretty much from start to finish, they got off to a pretty good start. Like you say, Mullins got off to a great start, made a couple threes early.

24:24Shannon Sharpe:Now you find a rhythm. And it's like playing catch-up. This game, it wasn't no nine-point game. This game was a lot worse than that. You know what I mean? They only lost by nine, but I thought Illinois was really – they made a little comeback toward the end, but for the most part, man, Connecticut controlled this whole game, bro. They controlled the whole game. Yeah, I mean, Connecticut's tough. I mean, you look at, and I don't know if we've seen a program, because you look at a program, you look at what Coach Calhoun did, and we know the level of talent that he brought in there, from the Rip Hamiltons to all those guys that he brought in there, the Ray Allens, Rip Hamilton, Villanueva, Okafor, and all those guys.

25:03Shannon Sharpe:And you had Kimba, you know, Cardiac Kimba. Yeah. A lot of these guys. And then Kevin Olley did it with a different set of guys. And here comes Dan Hurley. And you look at this. I mean, Coach Calhoun won three, Kevin Olley won one. That's four right there. If this guy, he'll have seven. That'll put him in front of Duke. That'll put him in front of North Carolina. That'll be trailing, if I'm not mistaken, that might put him in front of Coach Kentucky. I forgot Coach Rupp, because Coach Rupp had back in the 40s and 50s, Coach Rupp had a stick down there at the University of Kentucky. But for what he's doing, and you understand, if you go play at UConn, you're going to be coached hard.

25:47Shannon Sharpe:If you cannot deal tough coaching, tough old school coaching, a guy that's going to get in your face, don't you take your ass to UConn and tell my man the man yelling and screaming because that's what he is. That's who he is. That's how he coached. And the proof is in the pudding. It's hard to argue with those results. I mean, back-to-back and then three and four years? That's impressive, man. And the games ain't been pretty, man. They ain't really had – I mean, you look at the buzzer beater shot that they made just to make it to the final four.

26:22Joe Johnson:Yeah.

26:22Shannon Sharpe:And then, you know, it's like you got to have a little luck in this too, fellas. You know what I mean? And I think, like I said, Dan Hurley, he has those dudes playing the right way, playing hard, competing at the highest level, and they got each other's back, bro. It's a fun team to watch. I love to see how the alumni come together for the UConn guys. You know, all those guys, you know, we're at the game supporting. That's dope. I think it gives, you know, the players an extra edge when they out playing. It's just like the Michigan Cats. They see C. Webb and Jalen Rose and them. You know, it's going to make you – it's probably going to make you work a little harder.

26:58Shannon Sharpe:You're like, hold on, these dudes at the game, we don't want to have no letdown. Same thing with Connecticut. You got Ray Allen and all the guys there, Rip Hamilton. I just think it's a dope environment. I'm glad to see these guys moving along. And I think Connecticut and Michigan, it's gonna be a hell of a game on Monday night, fellas. Oh yeah. It's always great. Ocho, you know, being in the league and you see those former great, you see Munoz and a lot of these old guys come back, the alumni. Yo, when you was at Arkansas and some of those old guys be it Corliss Williams, a hard day, Sidney Moncrief, a lot of these old guys, they come back.

27:31Shannon Sharpe:You like, damn. Yeah. Man, y 'all came back to see us? Yeah. Man, I can't let y 'all guys die. Hey, I gotta win this one. Right, right. You know, it's kinda like when homecoming, when everybody comes back, you wanna play your best ball because everybody's coming back, and you know why they came back. Right. Yeah, I love that also. I love that you look at Duke and how those guys go back in the summer, and they play, and all those guys that's going to Duke, they like, damn, I damn sure wanna be, I wanna be a part of that. Or Alabama, you know, and the way a lot of these teams that produce a lot of NFL or NBA players, they go back.

28:05Shannon Sharpe:And when they go back, it's like, okay, they're really close. This is really a brotherhood. Yeah, yeah, you're right. If there's no jealousy or guys just competing, playing at a hard level, they can pass along what it's like to play, what it's like to be in this situation. Guys started this 40-plus years ago. Your job is to continue it, just like our job was to continue it. We passed it on to you. You guys got to continue this. Absolutely. Look, like you said, Joe, it wasn't like UConn shot the cover off the ball. One team shot 35%. The other team shot 34%. One team shot 23 % from the three. The other team shot 36 % from the three.

28:43Shannon Sharpe:The difference is that UConn makes you play like this. Yeah. They get up and tell you. They picking you up. They're pressing the ball. Hey, those guards, they pressure backcourt. They do a great job of rebounding. They do a great job of boxing out. Yeah. Man, I can't say enough about Coach Hurley. You know, I thought he'd have been a great fit for the Lakers, but he's like, nah, that ain't – I'm a Jersey kid.

29:13Joe Johnson:Hey, Unk, another thing about Mr. Hurley not really taking that Lakers job, you know, ain't really no security in that, you know? Especially when it comes to coaching the Lakers, the pressure that comes with coaching the Lakers. Well, you ain't coaching the Lakers like you coach UConn. You ain't finna be yelling at Luca and LeBron. Yeah, yeah. It's kind of different. But, Joe, it's no sense of security in taking a job like that, even though it's a good job to have. It's a prestigious job to have, obviously, coaching a historic franchise like the Lakers. But I understand why Mr. Hurley turned that down, even with the money they was offering him.

29:48Joe Johnson:Yeah. I ain't going to be there too long. Yeah. I'm not going to be there too long, because as soon as things don't go right, I'm out the goddamn door.

29:55Shannon Sharpe:You're going to be the scapegoat. And I think Uncle Ocho, in college, you know, as a coach, you got a little more control. Oh, you got a lot of control. Yeah. You got all the control, to be honest. You get guys that are very hungry to work and obviously make it to the next level. So they're going to do pretty much whatever you ask. Yes. As opposed to, you know, you get to the Lakers. Man, I make 300 million. How are you telling me what to do? So, I mean, you know what it's like? You know what it's like, Ocho? Yeah. You got a lot more, your mom, them, and grandparents look at you a lot differently when you making the money.

30:30Shannon Sharpe:When you paying all the bills, now all of a sudden, you know what? It's okay, baby, come in here when you want to. Well, before I couldn't come in the house after midnight, but now, hey, come in when you want to, son. And so, Joe, you said something, and Ocho, we've talked about this. As a 18, 19-year-old kid, he's trying to get to the next level. So as Joe said, that guy is going to pretty much do whatever you tell him because he feels you're helping him get to that level. I'm already at that level. What you telling me? Right. What? You see how Luka did? JJ told him to go sit his ass down when he came down.

31:10Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah.

31:11Joe Johnson:Hey, hey, hey. And at that point too, Joe, you know, correct me if I'm wrong. It takes a certain coach to gain the kind of respect for players that's already millionaires. They got that kind of money. it depends on who's coaching them you know what I mean I understand the players have control at the NBA but depending on the face that's the head coach of them they wouldn't have listened they're a little bit more receptive depending on who it is especially I would think maybe a former player or maybe a coach that has a winning record like a Phil Jackson

31:41Shannon Sharpe:Phil you gotta deal with egos Ocho because at the college game you can tell the guys because you got five five stars you're gonna say in order for us to win we've got to do this You got to do that. But when you got those kind of guys, bro, I'm getting my points. Damn what he said. Give me that ball. Hey, I'm playing 40 minutes, and I'm going to get my numbers. Yeah. Now, if in the course of this game, you know, hey, I can get me four or five rebounds and dish out some assists, but I'm going to get my points. And so that's what Phil was really good at. Phil was really good at managing egos, and that's what you have to do.

32:18Shannon Sharpe:It's hard, man. And as a coach, Joe, you know this, Ocho, you know this, that's a grown man, he got a wife too. Yeah, yeah. How you talking to him like he lives there? I'm a grown ass man. Yeah. So, you know, you can talk to some of them college players like that, but I promise, when you get to the pros, bro, it's only so much guys gonna take, I'm telling you. They may literally go put hands on you. Yeah, they, they, they'll pay up to, hey. I ain't telling what somebody told me, I'm telling you what I know. You can't talk to no man like you talk to an 18, 19-year-old kid. He'll slap five from you.

32:53Shannon Sharpe:Man, listen. Hey, boy, I've been in some locker rooms where I've seen some coaches and some players get into it, and I'm like, hold on. What's going on here? Yeah. It's different, bro. It's different when you get to the pros, man. It's different. Hey, how you let that man push you down? How you let that man kick you in your butt? Come on, man. I mean, I could never do that because the way we, I grew up in the South and the coach, the coach was damn near like a parent. Yeah. Whatever he said, if you, if, hey, you, I go home and say, granted, the coach grabbed my face mask and did all this. What, the first thing she had, what you do?

33:30Shannon Sharpe:Right. Oh, that ain't what you supposed to say. You supposed to say, nah, baby, he ain't supposed to do that. Absolutely. You asking me what I did. No matter what I did, he shouldn't have grabbed my face mask. And listen. But as a grown man. Yeah. You got to have a level of, and that's what I said. You got to be careful how a man talk to another man. Well, you're trying to win games. Okay. Okay, win games. It's hard to win games when one of your best players got his eye closed.

33:56Joe Johnson:And that is real important to Uncle Joe at that level, whether it's NFL, whether it's MLB, whether it's even NBA, every coach has to know his player. Every coach has to know his limits. You got to know how to coach certain people a different way. You can coach some people hard.

34:10Shannon Sharpe:I agree.

34:11Joe Johnson:And some people, you can't be like that. I agree. You got to cut them a little bit. You get what you want out of them. To maximize their talent, you better understand your players very, very well.

34:20Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, because everybody don't respond the same way. Nah. You know what I mean? It's just like, man, when I was playing at Arkansas under Coach Nolan Richardson, Uncle Ocho, I'm talking about, man, when you're talking about somebody who stayed on my ass, I'm like, hell, I started to wonder if he liked me. But then, you know, as you get older, you're like, well, if he owns you, then he sees something in you. Something. Yeah, but if he come in there and he don't look at you, don't speak to you, it's a problem. You know what I mean? So I had to learn that way. Coach Cowboy told a story about when he was a D coordinator in Kansas City.

34:57Shannon Sharpe:And Percy Snow came out with me. He was from Michigan State. And if I'm not mistaken, Percy might have been defensive player of the year. Chasey, who was defensive, might have been him or Seau. But anyway, Coach said he was real quiet. And he did something and a coach was trying to say something and Percy didn't respond.

39:16Shannon Sharpe:So Coach Kyle would cut the light on and say, Percy, you hear what I'm saying? He said, Percy, turn around. Coach, is there a problem? Coach said, he turned the light off. Nah, there ain't no problem. For real? Yeah. Hey. Hey, I found that out the hard way. When coach stay on you, man, don't be one of them guys who always got something to say back. Cause if you are, he gonna be on your ass all day long. You know what I mean? Hey look, he got on me. I sit there, just take it and just keep moving. You know what I mean? I ain't never say nothing back. Cause I want you to go on, leave me alone. Exactly.

39:50Shannon Sharpe:But like I said, some coaches you can ride. Some coaches you gotta be facetious. I mean, some players you gotta be facetious with. some players like look here son this is what we need from you we need to be X, Y, and Z and you need to explain it to them in a tone because I'm telling you you try to talk to everybody you try to coach everybody the same way I'm telling you like I said Ochoa Joe I ain't telling what somebody told me I'm telling you I've seen it

40:15Joe Johnson:yeah I'm one of the few obviously oh really hey my upbringing Joe you know how coaching was I'm sure you've seen many clips you know how they coach down here in Miami. You know how they're coaching in the inner city. It's different. The screaming, the cussing, the coaches slapping to the helmet, the grabbing up, the yanking. You know how that is. That's how I came up. Bingo. So obviously in Cincinnati, you know, man, Hugh Jackson, I don't care about you wearing 85. I don't care about you being Chad. I don't care about you being Ocho. I'm going to coach you the same way I was coached when I was growing up.

40:50Joe Johnson:And I understood that. So I'm used to it because I'm used to it from back then.

40:54Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

40:54Joe Johnson:I thought, okay, this is how it's supposed to be. I wasn't tripping.

40:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. But other players that weren't even at my level of talent or caliber.

41:04Joe Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. He had to coach him a different way. Man, coach me hard. Man, cuss me. I don't care what you do. Slap my helmet up. Whatever. If that's what it takes to get the best out of me, I'm all for it.

41:15Shannon Sharpe:I don't know if you can do that now. I don't know if you can coach a young kid. Like what we got coached. Oh, no, no, no, no, no.

41:21Joe Johnson:Man, parent be at the school. Parent be at the field cutting the food. Hell, they gonna be in the portal here after that.

41:30Shannon Sharpe:They gone.

41:32Joe Johnson:Oh yeah.

41:32Shannon Sharpe:Cause you see, hey, their parents not run out there and be fighting the coaches and all kinds of things. It wasn't, I ain't never heard of no parents, I mean, growing up and coaches grab face masks and snap your side to the head or do all kinds of stuff, punch you in the chest. And parents, and not one parent ever came out there. No, no, no. Hey, you saw the - Because most of the time, the parents knew the coach. They went to school with him. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

42:00Joe Johnson:Hey, Uncle Joe, you seen the clip of the 707? The dude knocked out the ref? I seen he was squaring up with the other one. Fired on him. He was squaring up with the other ref? Hey, one ref knocked out on the floor. He squared up with the other one. I'm like, man, what are we doing?

42:16Shannon Sharpe:What did 707 come to? Hey, well, those are parents that are living their life through the kids. Kids, yeah. See, if you, like Joe, what Joe look like out there, like you think your kid is your meal ticket. So you living vicariously through your kid. Joe was a professional, I was a professional, you was a professional, Ocho. You ain't finna be carried on like that cause you've had your life, let the kid live their life. When you live vicariously through your kid, you think that's you. That ain't you, sit your ass down. And then the mistakes that you made as a youngster, you trying to help him not make those mistakes.

42:51Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. But, Ocho, you said something. I agree with you, too. I think the upbringing that we had, meaning the tough coaching. Yes. When I was playing AAU ball for Mike Greenwood, Sylvester Allen, they raised me, taught me the game, taught me how to compete. And then you get to high school and college is different, and I'm getting chewed out. You know what I mean? So by the time I make it to the pros, Ocho, the coach get on me, man, that shit going one ear out the other. Out the other. Yeah. Listen, that don't even bother me, bro. You going to let me play or what? I just want to play.

43:24Joe Johnson:Hey, and you know what? I don't think a good thing, Uncle Joe, you think about today's society and the way kids are being raised, they're being coddled. There's really no discipline. There's really no structure. And I think it's almost handicapping the kids because once they get in the real world. They got no coping skills. They're going to quit. They're going to quit. There you go. They're going to quit as soon as it gets tough. It's going to eat you up. it's going to eat you up quick so I wish in a sense we can go back to maybe not how it was when we grew up but just a little bit of structure just a little bit of discipline because life ain't gonna be fair once you're out there on your own it's hard to have discipline the way these kids talk back I mean you might suck you might they call it kissing your teeth

44:07Shannon Sharpe:you might suck yeah you might roll your eyes or stomp off or something but it wasn't nobody blatantly just talking back and cursing at the teacher like we see clips students fighting

44:22Shannon Sharpe:I couldn't be no teacher, man. I couldn't be no teacher.

44:26Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, you see some of the clips the way the students talk to the teachers? Yeah.

44:31Shannon Sharpe:They slap them. Yeah. I done seen it. B, you better get out my face. They be on their phone. Kid might come back and pop you.

44:40Joe Johnson:I ain't got time for that, man. Could you imagine raising your hand at a teacher back then?

44:45Shannon Sharpe:No. No. Boy, that teacher was like, to call home and told Barney or Mary? What?

44:52Joe Johnson:I ain't going home. No. You called my grandma. Hold on, my grandma, hold on. My grandma made me, Joe, and I'm supposed to be at Miami Northwestern, you know, where Teddy Bridgewater and all those boys went. I'm in the inner city. My grandma say, baby, listen, once you hit ninth grade, you not going over there. I need to be able to keep an eye on you. She sent me over there to Miami B. Senior High. Why? Because she taught at the middle school, she taught at Nautilus Middle School. Oh yeah. Long behold, I was very smart of her because my bad ass always skipping class. They took that phone. She able to get over there in 10 minutes to me.

45:26Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. She already knew you was a little dumb.

45:28Joe Johnson:Oh, hey, Joe, I was bad, Joe. I ain't gonna lie to you, Joe. I wasn't like in the street bad. I was bad in school bad. Yeah.

45:37Shannon Sharpe:Smart Alec, skipping class. Skipping, talking, excessive talking.

45:40Joe Johnson:And other people PE class.

45:44Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you got both lunches. You on both lunches? Both lunches, Joe. Hey, I kept an effing conduct. I got A's and B's. I got an effing conduct.

45:55Joe Johnson:Hey, let me tell you how bad I was, Uncle Joe. You know, in high school with us, in order to be outside the class, while class was going on, you had to have a hall pass. Yes, sir. You had to have a pass. I had hall passes in my bag already signed based on what period it was. So if I got caught in the hall, I could show it. Man, I got suspended five days when they found out I had stolen passes and the teacher really didn't sign it.

46:21Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man. Hey, your parents, they be pissed if you get suspended, boy. You got to stay home for more than three days?

46:27Joe Johnson:Oh, yeah. Hey, you got to stay home three days. Hey, don't answer the door for nobody. Right. Nobody. Nobody. I don't care who it is.

46:36Shannon Sharpe:Nobody should be coming here doing work hours. That's how O'Shea got up a couple of answers to the dollar. I been on her with my aunt. Oh, y 'all got suspended, huh? Okay. That gonna cost you. I tell Barney Porter, you got suspended, it's gonna be hell at Rock Full Box 385. And what it gonna cost? Hey, hey, guys, they get on the bus just like they going to school. Hey, get off the bus and go walk the streets until it's time, get back on the bus and come on. Because boy, if I'd have told Barney Porter, they were suspended? Oh, no. Been on like Donkey Kong, wasn't it, man? What? Man, that man ain't played that fool.

47:12Hey, he already told him,

47:15Shannon Sharpe:he said you ain't gotta go to school, but if you go to school, go to learn. Right. Simple as that, he said, hey, you could quit? He said you quit, you gotta work. Yeah. But if you go to school, don't be, hey, he did not believe, my grandmother, the same way, do not believe in wasting people's time. Them people go there, other people wanna learn. Just because you don't wanna learn, that don't mean you go there and interrupt somebody else learning. Right. Man, listen, I never understood how cats would come to school and act a fool, knowing their parents didn't play that, bro. I'm like, man, I know your mama and daddy.

47:49Shannon Sharpe:Boy, they ain't playing none of that. I don't know why you're here acting a clown. Because I know my mom and my grandma weren't having that. Oh, no. Hey, Joe, you got beans? I got whoopings, Ocho. Yeah. You weren't that big then, huh? I wasn't. No, I'm saying when I was a youngin'. But I'm saying I wasn't no bad child. Now, if I was in the house with you, you wouldn't even know I was in there. I be in there chilling in my room. I stay to myself, you know what I mean? But you know Joe quiet. Yeah, I ain't in class. Even if you were big though, Joe, you wouldn't bore up at you. Man, I was bigger than my grandma.

48:22Shannon Sharpe:But I wouldn't bore up at her. Even if I was dead, I knew I was wrong. I knew if I wanted to break loose or do something, I knew my grandma couldn't handle me. But come on, man. Right, right. I had too much respect for my grandma to ever raise my hand, to ever raise my voice. There you go. Or at any adult, even them teachers at school. Yeah, yeah. That's me too. Man, come on, man. You got too much respect for your people, man. Yeah. Your mom, grandma, your dad. You ain't, man, you ain't finna be acting on food like that. I know I would. You wouldn't, I mean, even people that weren't your family members.

48:57Shannon Sharpe:Like I said, it was a community. It was a community back then. A village, huh? They would correct you if you're doing something wrong. They would say, son, you supposed to be doing that. Right. Ain't you marrying Barney Grandboy? Yeah. Yes, ma 'am. Do they know you? No, ma 'am. Okay. You want me to tell him no, I sure don't. Please don't tell him. Hey, you're talking about correct.

49:15Joe Johnson:He held a pay. Correct. Hey, Joe, back then, you get in trouble, depending on where you at, depending on if it's a family member or somebody that is close to your mama, your grandfather, or your pops, they can whoop you.

49:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, absolutely.

49:29Joe Johnson:Depending on what they saw you do. 1 ,000%, Ocho. Hold on. Not only can they whip you, once they tell your parents, then you get another whooping when you get home.

49:37Shannon Sharpe:Man. Absolutely. 1 ,000%, Ocho. 1 ,000 percent. Hey, let me tell y 'all something. I could take a whooping from anybody in my family, bro, but my auntie, my aunt Sherry, she was a military lady. Yeah. When I tell you, she got twins, Derrick and Debra. When I tell y 'all this lady didn't play, I'm talking about because she coming in there swinging that stinging cord. She ain't damn a belt. She coming in there swinging that stinging cord, Ocho. Train, track. I'm talking about if you in the way, your ass going to get hit. I'm like this in the corner. I'm like, damn. And you know back then, they hit you with anything.

50:08Shannon Sharpe:They hit you pick up a shoe and throw it. That wooden spoon. My head was a drum. The way they hit me on my head with that spoon.

50:14Joe Johnson:The first thing they get their hands on, Joe. Grandma? Yeah. Let me tell you, when you get in trouble, I'm just saying for me, I'm not sure how anybody else was raised. When I get in trouble, especially when I came to school and I came home, the first thing she say is, lay right here on my lap. It took forever me to get on that knee and lay on her lap. But she put me on one leg, right? and she take the other leg and wrap it around to where it's locked right behind the knee joint so i can't move huh so it's like i'm stuck in a sense man listen man i i never forget that i never

50:52Shannon Sharpe:forget them whoopings it's it's some whoopings that i've seen i ain't necessarily had but it's whoopings that i've seen that i'm still scarred to this day i ain't lying to y 'all let me tell y 'all something it was christmas around christmas my cousins them they pinching the bottom of the to prison trying to see what they got. Yeah, my auntie them figured all that out. When I tell y 'all she came in swinging that stichy cord, boy, I was in the corner. I'm like, I ain't touch nothing. I'm talking about. Hell yeah, buddy. Party and baby, they play.

51:21Joe Johnson:Them was some good days, man. Them was some good days.

51:24Shannon Sharpe:But look, everybody that I knew in my family, that's how my uncles raised their kids. Yup. That's how my, cause that's how they were raised. So I didn't know any different. I thought, hell, I just – everything that I saw, my uncle, they didn't play that, especially Thurnell because Thurnell was the oldest, rest his soul, he passed, and then my mom. They were close. Thurnell was born in 40, mama born in 43, so they were the oldest because back then the oldest son, there was a great chance he wasn't going to finish school. He's going to be working with the man in them fields. If they were pulp, wooden, they dip in tar, whatever the case may be, he's going to be doing that.

52:04Shannon Sharpe:The oldest girl was gonna help the mom raise the kids. She's gonna learn how to cook, she's gonna learn how to clean, she's gonna learn how to wash clothes. Cause that was her job, her responsibility. Cause my grandma was going right back to the field to pick cotton. And as the other kids got older, guess where they are? In the fields with my grandma. Yeah. They didn't play that. All that talking back. But you couldn't, don't slam no dough, don't stomp your feet, don't suck your teeth, don't roll your eyes.

52:36Joe Johnson:Nothing.

52:39Shannon Sharpe:Boy, if Barney Parton, Lord, I wish my brother here would tell y 'all the story. That man didn't play. Not with even his own kid. Grown, grown, got kids. No, no, no, no, no, no. Nobody disrespected that man. I'm talking about nobody. Go to Glenville, Georgia and ask anybody from the ages of 70 all back down. So tell us about, you know anybody think about Barney Porter? Man, Mr. Barney didn't play. He sure didn't. He didn't play the drums. He damn sure he play with nobody kids. All that kid, that's why I get all that Kiki kid. Yeah. Yeah. No more re. I'm with you on that. My uncles, my aunties, my grandma, grandpa, man, they ain't play them games, bro.

53:28Shannon Sharpe:No, and that's what I've been telling Ocho. I said, I didn't grow up like that. Nah. All that playing, because they would say, stop all that playing before somebody get mad. Yeah. Because when somebody get mad, I'm going to get mad, and I'm going to tear both your asses up.

53:45Joe Johnson:Mm-hmm.

53:45Shannon Sharpe:Me and Spangler sit down.

53:46Joe Johnson:Hey, the funniest thing, I'll never forget Joe and Unc, man, as a little kid. You know, my grandma, she's singing in the choir. So if she's singing in the choir, that means she all the way up there. I'm out there in the pew.

53:59Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

53:59Joe Johnson:So I know when she can't get to me right now, yeah man i'm in there playing around man with my little brother in church i never forget mont olivet baptist church in overtime and they singing and me and him we back there touching playing around yeah in church and she stopped moving quiet going back and forward swaying yeah and she stopped swaying and just look yeah

54:27Shannon Sharpe:Turn into a ventriloquist. What? My grandma could talk without moving her lips, Ocho. Man. Cause we had, you had to be on the first or the second pew. The benches, pews, whatever you guys call them. You had to be on the first one or the second one. You don't be a snake. You don't touch that. Yeah, yeah. My grandma, my grandma in Deacon S corner. Yeah. Boy, my grandma, hey. I'm like, you cousin in the church. Y 'all must have been here that, because boy, when we got home, Barney and Mary ain't play like that. And so I think, you know what, and I said, I was telling you guys the other day, I think that's a lot of all that playing that keep, because he didn't do that.

55:16Shannon Sharpe:He wasn't about no cracking, no jokes. Man, we going fishing one day. Hey, we pull up there with my grandfather pumping gas and the dude say, all right, Mr. Barney, don't catch them all. Oh Lord, you think that man caught that man? Oh Lord, oh, Cho-Cho. You know, hey, you know everybody said, hey, don't catch them all. Yeah, yeah. Man, my granddad put that truck in part and cussed that man, and caught that man everything. You know my grandfather had false teeth also. So he had his teeth on the dash. In that glass cup. No, they were the Kleenex. He had them in Kleenex. Oh, he had them in Kleenex.

55:59Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he had them in Kleenex. Yeah. Hey, Mr. Barney, better catch your teeth before they run away. I said, why you? I think me and Spanky Spanky look at me. I said, why you keep playing with... He said, man, I done told you, I'm a grown ass man. And I don't play like that. Stop playing with me before I hurt you.

56:28Shannon Sharpe:He meant that. Yeah. Cause look here, my grandfather was, I think Uncle Willie was the young, was the baby. So Papa probably was like the knee baby. Yeah. That's some older brother and sister. My grandfather had a thing. Don't thump a kid, he would always say, don't thump a kid on his head, you make him thick head. He won't learn. I ain't gonna make it no, hey, you ain't gonna learn cause he got a problem, boy, he ain't gon' learn. But he'd always tell, he didn't play that. Don't thump the kid on the head. My grandfather, we on the front porch. Me, Spanky, and his brother, I ain't gonna call his name he thumped me ow stop uncle I said I called his name Papa was in the bed he thumped me again I said ow stop thumping me after a while my grandfather slept naked after a while you could hear the change he putting on them coveralls I ain't never seen him wear anything but coveralls the one with the strap like Junior Sam was wearing on ER who had the full coveralls I heard him putting them on.

57:45Shannon Sharpe:He came out there. He said, I've been told you. I said, I told you don't thump these boys on the head. You make them thick-headed, they won't learn. He said, if you thump it one more time, I'm going to blow your brains out. He got in his car and left. He never came back. I probably was about five. My grandfather, that was three years. when my grandfather died he ain't going to church to look at him he was at the church but he ain't even go in there when I say Barney Porter ain't played as a kid well most of the kids I mean ain't nobody left but the older kids Thurnell gone BJ gone Gladys passed Mary Nell passed and Thurman passed So five of them gone.

58:39Shannon Sharpe:Ain't nobody left with Jane, Sharmardine, Mama, and James. He did not play. If he told you something, set your clock back. Yeah. If you at church and he told you he going to take your ass up when you got home, just know it. Yeah. If you uptown and you acting a fool,

59:06Shannon Sharpe:I got a dude put a kid push me man that you gonna push me I put I pushed him so hard bad skin all his knees up the only difference was they always catch the guy that do something man the principal got me and whipped me oh man guess what I went right home I was cool I got about halfway home I started crying

59:36Shannon Sharpe:And I got off that bus. Boy, what's wrong with you? He had a deep voice. Boy, what's wrong with you? That boy pushed me down. I pushed it back, papa. And Mr. Sanchez whipped me. We got in the car. We got in the car. We're right back up there. So you put your hands on this boy again.

1:00:04Shannon Sharpe:I ain't had no problems. When I say that man didn't play, nope. But that's the discipline. So I was used to like coaching grab your face, man, son, do you hear me talking to you? Son, do you hear me talking to you? Oh, you don't hear me talking to you. Well, damn, I heard you from the sidelines. Yeah, I hear you. But if that's what you grew up with, But I just like, man, I sure want to be a good enough player one day. A coach won't yell at me. I can say, no, don't yell at me like that. Don't coach me like that. That's what I was thinking when I was a little kid. Because boy, they yell at everybody.

1:00:44Shannon Sharpe:Man, that's how it was. And you just had to take it. Yeah, that's how it was.

1:00:47Joe Johnson:Hey, Uncle Joe, y 'all ever saw a, matter of fact, chat too? Y 'all ever saw the documentary, Year of the Bull?

1:00:54Shannon Sharpe:No, I ain't seen it.

1:00:55Joe Johnson:You ever saw that? Man, I mean, if you ever get an opportunity, Joe, Joe, I'll give you to be busy. Joe, if you ever get an opportunity, watch the documentary chat. I'm not sure if y 'all seen it called Year of the Bull. And it's a visual reference on how we are coached, regardless of what inner city school you go to, regardless of what Optimist Club you go to down here in Miami.

1:01:16Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:01:17Joe Johnson:It's exactly like that.

1:01:19Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:01:19Joe Johnson:It ain't pretty. And if you watch it in today's time, in today's era, you'd be like, anyone here, anybody can do that to my child or do it to my kid. but that's the way it was

1:01:30Shannon Sharpe:people kill hell at you about their kill you do that to somebody's kid now boy they kill hell at you hey if you

1:01:38Joe Johnson:see that you'd be like oh hell nah but hey them coaches obviously it's about Miami Northwestern back in the day the way they coach slapping the kids coaching the kids fighting on the field everything on camera

1:01:53Shannon Sharpe:oh yeah But you know Coach Hall, who coached my brother, Coach Hall coached my mom. My mom graduated in 1960, I graduated in 86. Coach Hall coached my mom. My high school coach coached my mom in the 60s. He coached all my uncles, he taught driver's head. But he was a, Coach Hall, his whole favorite word sucker. Sometimes he'd call somebody, he'd call you a sucker quick. But he had the right temperament to be a coach. and everybody knew it. He coached, everybody that grew up, Coach Hall coached their mom, their dad and went to school with their grandma and granddad. So they knew Coach Hall. And he from Savannah.

1:02:41Shannon Sharpe:Now, mind you, Savannah, Glenville is 65 miles from Savannah. For 50 years, he drove from Savannah to Glenville every day and drove back home. Sometimes he would drive to Glenville. We'd have a track meet in Savannah, take us to the track meet, drive us back to Glenville, drop everybody off. I was the last one he'd drop off. Drive back, get his car, and drive back to Savannah and be back to Glenville. Damn.

1:03:11Shannon Sharpe:So every Hall of Fame I've been in, he's been there. Super Bowl, all the – he's been there. That's the kind of coach I needed. Cause the peewee, the pop water coaches, and the gym.

1:03:28Shannon Sharpe:Cause I started to get good, Joe. I started to smell myself. Yeah, I already know it. I already know it. Hey, hey, I quit.

1:03:39Shannon Sharpe:Or at least threatened to. We got our game on Monday night. We got the Yukon Huskies taking on the Michigan Wolverines on a Monday night. Who you got? You will start with you, Ocho. Who you got? I got Michigan.

1:03:53Joe Johnson:Joe? Yeah, I got Michigan.

1:03:55Shannon Sharpe:I got Connecticut since Ocho got Michigan. Damn,

1:04:00Joe Johnson:Joe.

1:04:00Shannon Sharpe:I ain't riding with you. I got Michigan. You got Michigan, I got Yukon. Let's bet something on it. You know what? Nah, let's not bet. Let's not bet. Why? Uncle, you got. Ooh, man. Man, if Lindenburg wasn't hurt, I think I would take Michigan. But I might got to go UConn, man. I don't know if they can beat UConn without him. Right, without him healthy, 100%. Yes.

1:04:29Joe Johnson:Yeah, I tell you what. I tell you what. Since both of y 'all got UConn, right? Yeah. Let's make a little small wager. A small wager that's feasible for me where I won't miss it.

1:04:42Shannon Sharpe:$500 apiece. Listen, listen, listen, Ocho. I already owe you a ass whooping. I just don't want it to get out of hand. You know what I mean? To what you owing me now. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, look what he got on the back of it. Man, we been talking about this already? You know that's your boy. That's me. I'm going to send it. I'm going to get the ass. Let ass go ahead and send that to you. There you go. What size is it? What size is it? Make sure I can. What you going? You going to wear it? Yeah, I'm going to wear it. Say it last. Large, Joe. Large? Yeah. I can squeeze in there. I can get in there.

1:05:18Shannon Sharpe:I can get in. Hey, tell him, Joe, if you don't do nothing, take a picture in it.

1:05:24Joe Johnson:Hey. Hey. Come on. Hey, let's stick to business now. Let's stick to business. So we want to bet 500 or what? 500 apiece. What do you think? Should we trust him on this? It's only 500.

1:05:39Shannon Sharpe:You won't be 5 ,900

1:05:41Joe Johnson:for three years. That's an emergency fund So I guess the$500 Go to the emergency fund also Matter of fact I'm going to pay y 'all Right on the spot on the show Monday night I'm telling you And Joe for your sake You better hope You better hope Because you talk about me owing you If Michigan win I mean if Michigan lose I might not want to pay you just so you get mad See

1:06:12Shannon Sharpe:See, you're going to piss me off. And I'm going to whoop your ass. You're going to add to the ass whoop. Don't do that. That's all I'm saying. I think you're a good dude. I really think you're a good dude. I really do. I'm a good dude, Joe. He just don't pay his debt. Unc, I hate for it to go down like this. You know what I mean? It's like a dude with a gun. I got one. I don't really want to use it, but you know what I mean? Don't push me. You feel me?

1:06:35Joe Johnson:Hey, Unc, honestly, I think Joe barking up the wrong tree.

1:06:40Shannon Sharpe:Okay.

1:06:41Joe Johnson:Joe walking up the wrong tree, man.

1:06:46Shannon Sharpe:I think I'm a damn. I want to pick Michigan so bad. Damn, I hate that Lindenburg got hurt.

1:06:52Joe Johnson:Hey, Unc, come on. He hurt. He got a little thigh contusion. He going to be all right by Monday? Man, please. He going to be all right by Monday. That blood up in the saddle and that muscle? Yes, sir. Hey, all they going to do is get that Graston. That's what we call it, Graston, right? Oh, you talking about where they take that

1:07:09Shannon Sharpe:and just, yeah, right, man, using that thing up. He gonna have to be doped up. Yeah, that thing hurt so bad, that thing hurt so bad. Yeah, it do. You ever had a contusion, Joe? Man, yeah, ain't nothing worse than that. Was it like you trying to chase a dude and you get kneed in that quad? Yeah. It's a wrap.

1:07:30Joe Johnson:Ocho, you out about a week or two here. Hey, you gotta get on that fast too, boy.

1:07:42Shannon Sharpe:Who you taking Joe? You taking Michigan? I'm taking Connecticut. You taking UConn? Ocho taking Michigan?

1:07:48Joe Johnson:Yeah, so both of y 'all want to go against the grain. Y 'all did the same thing when it came to making that bracket. You see y 'all lost.

1:07:54Shannon Sharpe:We all lost, Ocho.

1:07:56Joe Johnson:No, no, no, no, no. Hey, listen, I lasted longer than you two. That's all that matters.

1:08:00Shannon Sharpe:It don't matter.

1:08:02Joe Johnson:I lasted longer than you two. That's the key.

1:08:06Shannon Sharpe:I was happy as hell, Arizona.

1:08:11Joe Johnson:Oh, yeah. So$500 back. I might change my mind tomorrow. I'll let you know. See, see, see. Hey, somebody with he got common sense. Come on over here to the winning side.

1:08:22Shannon Sharpe:But you janky, so I ain't sure that bought in with you already. When people turn to telehealth or weight loss, they're looking for real support.
