In short

Playoff basketball recap and outlook. Main focus is Minnesota Timberwolves taking a 3-1 series lead over Denver Nuggets after Game 4, despite injuries to Anthony Edwards (knee hyperextension suspected) and Donte DiVincenzo (torn Achilles). The episode also briefly covers the New York Knicks beating the Atlanta Hawks in Game 4 to tie that series 2-2, plus Orlando Magic beating the Pistons.

Guest backgrounds

The hosts are Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson (former pro bowler/all-pro) and “ISO Joe” Johnson (former Atlanta Hawks player, seven-time NBA All-Star).

Key claims

  • Minnesota’s defense (Rudy Gobert) is “nullifying” Nikola Jokic and forcing inefficient shooting.
  • Denver’s bench/role production is missing; Aaron Gordon’s calf issues limit scoring and lateral movement.
  • Minnesota’s bench scoring (especially Ayo “DeSumo” DeSumeo) is a major reason Denver can’t adjust.
  • Knicks’ win is driven by Jalen Brunson’s team offense and Karl-Anthony Towns’ playmaking; Hawks’ offense relies too heavily on CJ hero-ball.

Notable examples

  • DeSumeo: 43 points off the bench (13/17 FG, 5/5 threes, 12/12 FT).
  • Jokic shooting drop across games; in Game 4 he’s 8/22 FG and 5/27 overall from three-point attempts mentioned.
  • Knicks: Cat (Karl-Anthony Towns) triple-double in a 114-98 win; series tied 2-2.

4:37Shannon Sharpe:Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and thank you for joining us for another episode of Nightcap. As you watch the Timberwolves take down the Denver Nuggets without Ant-Man and without DiVincenzo, DiVincenzo confirmed he has a torn ACL. We don't know the extent of Ant-Man's... Achilles, excuse me. Achilles, not ACL. Achilles. We don't know the extent of Ant-Man's injury. It looks like a hyperextension, but we'll know more as they do more testing, MRI, X-ray, whatever the case may be. But we'll probably know more tomorrow morning or tomorrow afternoon. but DiVincenzo is done for the remainder of the playoffs for his long and the T-Wolves go and we don't know if Ant-Man is going to be available for game four or he's going to miss game four but it's seemingly if the Sumo is going to play like this here they might not even need him.

5:24Shannon Sharpe:Thank you guys for joining us for another episode of Nightcap. Y 'all know who I am. As we talked about earlier, The Wolves take a commanding lead.

6:38Shannon Sharpe:They're 3-1 now in the best of seven series. One more win, they move on, and the Nuggets will go home. Ayo DeSumo, the trade just won Minnesota game four. Nuggets with a fully healthy Jamar Murray and Nikola Jokic just lost to the Timberwolves team without two starters. Jude Randall, 15 points. Jay Daniels, 12 points. but it was the sumo off the bench who played 42 minutes. Basically he played damn near the entire game. Once he got in 43 points on 13 of 17 from the floor, five of five from the three point line, a perfect 12 of 12 from the free throw line, 43 big points off the bench. Nas Reed came in, gave him 17 big points off the bench.

7:25Shannon Sharpe:That is 60 points from your bench. You're going to win a lot of games. Now I said that between those two, they had a grand total of 76 points. off the bench. Yeah. This is embarrassing for the Denver Nuggets when you have two all-stars, when you have two all-NBA selections, one guy is a three-time MVP and you get defeated soundly like this. Joe, we talked about it in game two. The job that Rudy Gobert is doing on Nikola Jokic. I don't think it's being talked about enough because he's done a number on him. Yeah, Nikola Jokic got his numbers. He had 24 points. It took him 22 shots. Joe, what has been so impressive about what the Nuggets have done?

8:05Shannon Sharpe:Ant-Man goes out, and they seemingly doesn't miss a beat.

8:09Chad Johnson:Man, Minnesota just got guys, bro. They come in the game, Uncle Ocho, and it's just, you know, getting straight to it. They got some dogs over there, bro. You know, I said earlier in the series that they didn't have dogs. They had wolves, but they got guys who ain't scared, bro. I think that was a hell of a pickup from Minnesota to get the Samu from Chicago. he had 42 43 on 17 shots Joe he been playing great the whole entire series and I think with Minnesota bro it's just unfortunate man this is what I'm talking about when I say you know we get in the postseason and you have to rev it up and now you know I feel like God the team's coming out of the west they gonna beat each other up this is what I'm talking about you look at Ant-Man you look at DiVincenzo I'm like oh man Like, it's just, you know, luckily for the Timberwolves, you know, they had guys to step up and they was able to get this win.

9:06Chad Johnson:I don't know if Denver can come back from 3-1, but, hey, it's possible.

9:15Shannon Sharpe:Not with the way their guys are playing. No. You got nothing again from Aaron Gordon. You got nothing from Cam Jordan. You got nothing from Christian Brown. Your bench, I mean, Hardaway and Brown, excuse me, Bruce Brown, you got 16 points. Spencer Jones played 25 minutes. Gave you nothing. Without Aaron Gordon and Jordan and those guys, because you've got to get some points from somewhere. They're making it very difficult on Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. Think about it. They went 18 of 47.

9:44Chad Johnson:Yeah. They went three of 10 from the three-point line.

9:47Shannon Sharpe:You're not beating, even though two of their best players, obviously Ant-Man is their best player. Devin Chinzo is a very solid role player. He's in the starting line. You're not beating them. When your two big guns going like playing like that, they're being inefficient, and you can't get production from anywhere else, Joe. You're not beating this team.

10:04Chad Johnson:Yeah, no, I just, I think Minnesota doing a great job of just taking, just taking, you know, taking the challenge as far as guarding their man, Rudy making it tough on Big Yoke, and they got a lot of guys they can throw at Mary, and they got a few guys, bro, who I think can elevate their play, meaning Minnesota, but if I'm being honest with y 'all, I still think Denver got a chance. If Ant-Man ain't going to play Devin Chinzo out, I mean, can you expect 43 from DeSamo? I know he's been playing great all series, but damn. You think he's going to do this? I mean, Joe, honestly, before you go, even with Ant-Man out, right?

10:43And if Ayo can have a game like he had tonight, and the way Rudy Gobert is nullifying goddamn Yokish, Aaron Gordon struggling, there's a chance, down 3-1, the Wolves can go into goddamn Denver that game and actually end this goddamn series.

11:00Chad Johnson:That's going to be tough. It's possible, Ocho, but it's going to be tough, man. Hey, listen, when you down two of your starters like that, bro, yeah, you got to hope the Samu, you got to hope Reed, these guys come up the bench. I like Bones Howland. He gave you seven assists, eight points. Like, they got some guys who can play. No question about that. But I just think with Denver being tried and tested obviously they champions man it's gonna be hard to finish these boys man but if you

11:30Shannon Sharpe:if you tell me look the problem that they're running into is that your two best players on the nuggets are being inefficient you're getting clean getting your clocks clean on the glass and through guys that you're counting on to aaron gordon that calf again he might need to maybe it's the way he eating maybe it's the way he training because he's had calf issues joe again here it is Again, another calf issue, that's biomechanics. Everybody's tired this time of year. Yeah, yeah. Everybody's tired. And so if you're going to tell me that Aaron Gordon is going to give you nine points and Cam Johnson, excuse me, I think I said Cam Jordan, he's only going to give you nine points.

12:08Shannon Sharpe:Christian Brown's going to play 34 minutes. He's only going to give you eight points. Spencer Jones played 25 minutes, Joe. He gave you nothing. He gave you nothing. You're not beating – and what did Jay McDaniel say? There ain't got one player on the team that can guard. So we go at everybody. Jokic, Murray, Brown, doesn't matter. I think Gordon can guard a little bit, but he's a big – but the calf injury probably is limiting some of his lateral movement and him will be able to sit in the chair. They got to play better. This is embarrassing. Now, they fired Mike Malone.

12:43Chad Johnson:Yeah.

12:44Shannon Sharpe:They fired Mike Malone. Won them a championship, played really well. For whatever reason, they wanted to go in a different direction. That is their call. David Adelman. Okay. Okay.

12:56Chad Johnson:He going to be next. Hey, listen. When you think about it, Denver does not have any rim protection. No. So the Timberwolves are getting straight line drives, getting by their men, getting into the teeth of the defense, causing a lot of havoc. but Denver has to have another guy to Unka Ocho who can step up and give them some great production. Like you can't, I mean, obviously you're going to rely a lot on Murray and Jokic, but they need some help, bro. They ain't going to be able to beat this team, this Timberwolves team by themselves. They're going to need somebody who can step up and get them a game.

13:32We already know who that somebody is, Unk. I mean, Joe and Unk. Who? Aaron Gordon. Aaron Gordon is the one that's supposed to step up and give them that, but he's injured. If he's injured and he's limited, even with Devinchenzo out, and we don't know what Anthony Edwards' status is going to be, we probably hyperextended his knee, huh? Yeah, this looked like a hyperextension.

13:52Shannon Sharpe:He was helped to the locker room. Best case, maybe it's A. Maybe it's just a hyperextension. And when they play again, because this was game four. So game five is back in Denver. So they play what? They play Monday, Tuesday?

14:06Chad Johnson:Yeah, probably. They play Monday, okay.

14:08Shannon Sharpe:So they got two. they got oh damn they don't know what they are that's it matter of fact let's say he doesn't play let's say he doesn't play let's say ant doesn't play i still think they're gonna be fine hey joe the mentality the mentality they got the fact that i we don't even care that we playing the goddamn nuggets we don't care what they did during the regular season we don't have care how great goddamn jamal murray and goddamn yoka's been all season long they got to see us there's a reason why the mentality it seemed like everybody has that anthony edwards mentality yeah in a war for every goddamn body yeah i love you know and i think also uh joe watson getting hurt because remember when murray was out watson was playing extremely well and this is what you wanted to see because come playoff time now we got a guy we can give him the ball and he can go create his own shot he can get his own buckets or he can fill us facilitate and create for others if you notice the big thing what they're doing think about this look at yoke as he told him he had but he he's only had double digit assists in one game that was the first one so they say you know what we're gonna lock everybody else down as long as we're not giving you 25 30 and giving you 13 14 assists we like our chances rudy gobert and i saw at the rim he's challenging everything everything everything everything and yoke is just having to put the ball with a higher and higher arc each time.

15:30Shannon Sharpe:I'll give you 24 points. If you're going to take 22 shots to get it, and as long as you're not efficient, as long as you're not 12 or 22 or 13 or 22, I can live with that. You're 8 or 22? Yeah, yeah, Rudy Gobert. Rudy Gobert said, y 'all be talking all that trash. Now you see why I won those four DPO-Ys.

15:50Chad Johnson:Yeah.

15:50Shannon Sharpe:It should be abundantly clear.

15:52Chad Johnson:He playing his ass off. I ain't going to see you. Hey, Melissa. Go I will say, as great as he's playing on defense, you know he do for one of them games, scoring goddamn 15, 20, maybe 27. No, that ain't him, Ocho. Hey, no, I'm just saying. I mean, listen. I'm not saying. He is surprised if he won every blue moon. He do for one of them. Just so happy he might have one of them games in that last game.

16:12Shannon Sharpe:Let me tell you how Rudy was feeling so good. You saw him pull up with a three, Joe. Rudy shot a three. Rudy say, y 'all some bums out here. He said, just how I feel, though, y 'all. Hey, give me that. Let me get that right quick. Boy, if Rudy wouldn't hit a three, I think they playing the target center. The roof would have come off.

16:30Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. For sure.

16:32Shannon Sharpe:If Rudy hit a three, it's over.

16:34Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah. Hey, listen. If I'm the Timberwolves, though, even if Ant-Man is feeling better tomorrow and on Monday, I sit him out. I sit him out. Yeah. Listen, we go down there with what we finish the game with, the guys who we got, and see if we can get game five. If not, game six at home will be our game seven. Yeah. You feel me? I just think they're in a great situation, but due to these injuries, man, man, it's just unfortunate, bro. It's very unfortunate.

17:04Shannon Sharpe:If you think about it, though, Chicago had too many guards. Think about it. They had DeSumo and they had Kobe White. Giddy. They got Giddy. They got – what's his name? Breslin. Yeah. I mean, they – I don't know what's going on in Chicago because they got good players. Yeah, you got to be put in the right situations. I think the trade – They ain't really have no big, though, Joe. Nah, they ain't have no big – Because once they traded Vucevic, I mean, I think they traded him.

Read the full transcript

17:35Chad Johnson:Yeah, I mean, I think Kobe White and Dasamu, them guys have went into great situations to where their productivity was needed. You know what I mean? Yes. I mean, Ayo, Dasamu was great. He's been great out of series, but tonight he was just – I mean, he was out of this world, yes. Yeah, I'm saying offensively, he's scoring the ball. He's shooting the three well, getting to the rack. But defensively, bro, he in the passing lanes. He calls and has it. He defending his ass off. I just feel like he's been a perfect, perfect addition for the Timberwolves.

18:08Shannon Sharpe:Joe, this man had 43 on 17 shots. That's crazy. You talk about efficiency. Do people understand what this young man just did? No, no, no.

18:20Chad Johnson:People don't. Hold on, Joe. Hey, listen about this. Think about this too, Uncle Joe. If a player like this that he's had, he's been playing really good all series long, right, and you have a game like tonight, Joe, how the hell do you think he's going to be feeling for game five? Think about how he's going to be feeling, Joe. He's going to be super confident. He's going to be super confident. Yeah, you probably got to start him now, though.

18:42Shannon Sharpe:That's the thing. Well, you got no choice because you might be without Devin Chinzo and Ant-Man. You ain't got so many guards, Joe. So, yeah, you got to start him.

18:50Chad Johnson:But the thing is, you might want to go with Conley and maybe Bones Highland to start the game. Right. And keep him coming off the bench. I think that spark plug that he's been giving them off that bench, you know, that's been everything. You move him into that starting lineup, you don't know how that may work. You know what I'm saying? Obviously, you know, the Timberwolves, they may try. But I say, man, keep bringing them off the bench, bro.

19:12Shannon Sharpe:I think they started because guess what? They ain't got nobody that can defend him. Whether he coming off the bench, whether he's starting, whether he's selling popcorn before the game, during the game, it don't matter. They don't. Because I'm watching it because look at everybody attacking. Everybody trying to get downhill. Yeah. Jaden McDaniel trying to get downhill. DeSomo, Hyland. Hyland say, I played with you guys for three years, four years. I already know you can't guard. Hello.

19:35Chad Johnson:Hello.

19:35Shannon Sharpe:So I'm definitely in my back. You already know, Ocho. Something you've had when you play with a DB and you go to another team. You was trash when you was here. You think you got better than you over there? You're still trash? Let me show you. I'm going to show you why we got rid of you.

19:51Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, listen. You're right about that, Unc. I think the Timberwolves, like we've been saying, they know that the Nuggets have no interior presence. So getting down here, that ain't nothing. They got to foul us, so this is going to be a bucket each and every time. And I like the aggressiveness that the Timberwolves have been playing with. Hopefully they can continue it. Hopefully, you know, they can go in there and win game five and able to get a little rest. But, boy, it's going to be tough closing them boys out in Denver, man.

20:21Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. I mean, 6-29 from the three, what the Nuggets shot. They got out-rebounded by 12. The free throws were very, very close. The Nuggets were 24-28. The T-Wolves was 25-26. You can't complain about that. But I just thought overall, you know what? And you have a propensity to do this, Joe. I don't know, Ocho, let me know what you think, but I know I've been in situations where the opposing team's best player gets Nick and you automatically think, oh, they're about to roll over. And next thing you know, you look up at the board like, damn, these mofos play harder.

20:55Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

20:56Shannon Sharpe:And I think they relax. I think the Nuggets relax. And that's not the takeaway. And so don't confuse what I'm saying, Chad. I don't want to take away anything, but I think when you see Ant-Man go out, you see DiVincenzo go out, and you know they're down two guys and one guy you know can erupt for 40, 50 in a given game and another guy can get you a quick 20. And you're like, you know what, we got them now. And T was like, y 'all ain't got nothing. Y 'all don't. Y 'all can't guard. What don't you understand about you guys being able to stay in front of our guys? And Rudy is giving – Rudy, don't y 'all bring no double team.

21:33Shannon Sharpe:If anybody come to double your game, I'm going to put my size 18 foot in your ass.

21:37Chad Johnson:Get back on your guy. And that helps. When you ain't got to bring much help and you ain't got to double team and you guard your yard, you know what I mean? That helps. Hell yeah. That way we can stay home. And if Yoko's going to be able to get 50, we're going to shake his hand and tell him great game. Great. But if not, it's going to play into our hands. And then when you think about it, the Timberwolves got a lot of guys, man, who can go off the bounce, who can create offense for themselves, obviously for their teammates. But I'm talking about a lot of isolation guys. Them ain't got that, Uncle Ocho.

22:09Chad Johnson:They got one or two guys, Jokic and Murray, who are really going to be causing hell. Outside of that, man, you ain't got to really worry about nothing now.

22:17Shannon Sharpe:They had Watson, but he's injured, and we don't know if and when he's coming back. But you're absolutely right, Joe, and then Jokic is not a rim protector. They don't trust Valanchunas. After he pulled what he pulled in game two, he ain't seen the court. The only time he see the court is warm-ups. Even during the timeout, they say, don't you stand up because I don't want you walking towards the scorer's table. Bring your ass back.

22:39Chad Johnson:Hey, they won't even give no burn no more.

22:42Shannon Sharpe:Hell no. Joe, you saw what he blew the game, too. You see how quick they snatched his ass up out of there? Yeah, yeah. I said, nah, hell no.

22:49Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

22:51Shannon Sharpe:That's messed up. That's the one thing I love. In the playoffs in basketball, you got to earn your minutes. You talk about, oh, you just have this rotation in the regular season. In the postseason, they'll cut. Hey, we're going to start out trying to play 9-10. Before you know it, they cut that thing down to 8. Before you know it, that thing down to 7. Yeah.

23:07Chad Johnson:Because coach ain't going to trust you, bro. Hey, listen. Hell no. The one thing they ain't got time for is when you come in the game, tell me I got to get loose. We ain't got time for that. We ain't got time for that. We need you to get straight to it. I'm telling you, man. Yeah. Hey, so that's why the rotation gets cut short. And your leash is very short. When you checking in the game, you better come in with your mind made up that, man, I'm going to make an impact. I'm going to make a difference. You know, like the Samu. Every time he come in the game, bro, he's at it. He's at it. I don't care.

23:36Chad Johnson:Hey, listen, it may not be a whole lot of scoring when he first get in, but his energy and his effort makes up for all of that, bro.

23:44Shannon Sharpe:And when you think about DeSumo, what he did, he scored more points off the bench than the rest of the starters.

23:53Shannon Sharpe:You'll never see that. You probably won't ever see that again. Not a guy coming off the bench and scoring more by himself than the entire five starters. Now, we know two of those guys went out. But I thought Julius Randle did well. Because if you think about it, guys, They went on that run without Jew Randall. Yeah. When they opened up, when they went on that 12-2 or that 13-2 run, they did that without Jew.

24:13Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they did.

24:16Shannon Sharpe:And teams are more – if you notice, teams will do that. My best player, we make a run, hey, coach, I'm ready. Yeah, but we not. Get back, sit back down. Coaches are superstitious at that point. We got a run going. We do it really well. I understand my best player now that Ant-Man is out. We good. Let's see if we can keep it going. They kept it going. Now they put him back in there. He got a quality offensive rebound, but I am surprised. I am so surprised at how bad the Nuggets are playing. You know what? I shouldn't say I am surprised, but I got to give the Timberwolves more credit than what I'm giving.

25:00Shannon Sharpe:There you go. They're playing bad because the Timberwolves are getting up into them. They're making them play bad. They're not out there by themselves. So I think we need to give the Timberwolves – I need to give the Timberwolves more credit than what I've been giving them.

25:12Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. I think the Timberwolves are serious, man. Obviously, we don't know the significance of Ant-Man's injury. But, man, this team can go far, Arcan Ocho. I think, obviously, Nas Reed playing good. and they need Randall, obviously, to continue to be aggressive, to continue to play well. They need McDangiel to step up and be aggressive in game five. If they want to go and get this series over with, man, you don't want to play with these boys. You don't want to play with them. You got them down, you want to keep their ass down. Put them away. Yeah.

25:46Shannon Sharpe:Give me Jokic's number. Game two, three, four. I think the thing, you look at Jokic. I don't think he's had, he might have had double-digit field goals made, but he's shooting the ball 26 times. That's 10. He's 8 or 22 tonight. What was he on game two? What was he in game three? You're talking about a guy that shot 57 % from the floor. We're used to seeing a guy go 16 or 20 from the floor. We're used to seeing a guy go 12 or 15 from the floor. We're not used to seeing this. He's shooting under probably 40 % from the floor. A guy that shot 57 % in the regular season. A guy that gave it 27, basically 13 and 11.

26:27Shannon Sharpe:The rebounds are the same. The point total is down. The efficiency is down. The assist total is down. You know what we got to do?

26:34Chad Johnson:What's that? You know we're going to have to change Rudy Gobert's name, huh? To what? To the Joker stopper. Huh? I mean, that's basically what he's doing. Hey, that's basically what he's doing. Hey, listen. But Murray shot 25 times tonight, Ojo. I'm living with that. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.

26:55Shannon Sharpe:As long as he making 10 of them. I ain't living with 25 shots. He making 17, 18. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.

27:02Chad Johnson:But I'm saying if he got to take 25 shots to get 30 points, oh, man, we going to be all right. You know what I mean? So I think Minnesota got a plethora of guys who they can throw at him and disrupt his timing, his rhythm. And they've been doing a decent job at that, bro. I like the confidence that the Timberwolves play with. I like how everybody is live when they catch the ball.

30:28Chad Johnson:They got a mismatch, Uncle Ocho? I got to have it. Boy, we ain't finna pass this thing. We finna go right at your neck. I'm going right to the rim.

30:35Shannon Sharpe:Think about this. In game one, which the Nuggets won, Jokic was 11 of 19, 58%. In game two, they lost. He was 8 of 20. 40 % in game three, seven of 26. That's 27%. Game four, eight of 22. That's 36%. He's shooting under 40 % from the floor. He's five of 27. He's 18 % from the three. So y 'all, hey, no, no, no. We got to get Rudy's credit. Because we beat him up when guys be cooking him. I remember, hey, you remember in Utah, Joe, they had to take him out the game in the fourth quarter. Yeah. I said, how you got a defensive player of the year and he's not on the court. So what good is it? So he only defensive player of the year in the first three quarters?

31:19Shannon Sharpe:He became unplayable. There were times with the Minnesota, he became unplayable. Now Rudy is on the floor late in the ball game.

31:28Chad Johnson:Yeah, I think this is a bad matchup for Denver if you really think about it, Arcan Ocho. You know, they just – I think Minnesota is just too athletic for Denver, which is causing a lot of problems, which is why, you know, Obviously, Rudy Gobert is doing a hell of a job on Jokic, but you talk about their perimeter guys. I think Minnesota's perimeter guys have really taken the initiative to be aggressive with the perimeter guys and just make a hell on them all night long. And I think they've been doing a hell of a job with that the whole entire series. They hadn't really let the – the Nuggets really hadn't got away from them in that one game for real.

32:04Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? It's been neck and neck. It's been pretty close. And we'll see what they can pull out their hat going into Denver for game five.

32:13Shannon Sharpe:If you think about it, the Nuggets had that 19-point lead, Joe, remember in the second quarter game two?

32:19Chad Johnson:Yeah, they walked them down.

32:21Shannon Sharpe:From that point on, the T-Wills have outplayed them every single quarter.

32:27Chad Johnson:But you know why, though? Because when they was up 19 in that game and they brought into Samu and Bones High and them dudes was picking up 94 feet. Feet, yeah. And that's what happened. That's how they got back in the game, bro. They got back in the game through pure will, intensity to win the game. You know what I mean? To make it hard on those guys every minute that they out there. So I think the Timberwolves had a recipe to beat the Nuggets, and I think they will come through. Hopefully Ant-Man can get back ASAP. I'm almost pretty sure he probably won't play game five. You know, when you go down like that, man, you holding that knee.

33:05Chad Johnson:Boy, I be thinking the worst, man.

33:06Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

33:07Chad Johnson:Of course. He probably think of the worst also.

33:10Shannon Sharpe:Damn. And the thing is, it's not like something that he's ever had before. Because, like, you know when you've had an injury, like I knew exactly when my MCL. I knew exactly when it's a meniscus. Because I've had that feeling before. So I know what it is. And I would tell Greek, what is it, Sharpie? It's this or it's that. Broke my collarbone. I know what it was. Man, I can fade. My thing damn near came through the skin.

33:35Chad Johnson:Hey, listen, when I tore my patella tendon last summer, I knew it was something. I didn't know it was that. You knew it was more than what they told you, huh, Joe? Yeah, yeah, because when I got up to shoot the free throw, I had no stability in my leg. It kept giving out. It kept giving out. So I'm like, shit, I'm going to thug it out because at the time, we only going to 50. I think we had like 42 points. I'm like, man, I'm going to just stay out here and be a decoy. And I couldn't even move on this thing. That thing kept giving out on me. I was about to hit the dick.

34:05Shannon Sharpe:I said, ah. Yeah, see? And I think that's the thing. But look, man, DeSamo, man, he had an outst... I mean, he had a game for the ages. There ain't very many times, and I can't recall any off the top of my head where somebody's come up, came off the bench and played as well as this young man did tonight.

34:23Chad Johnson:Hey, he showed his butt tonight.

34:25Shannon Sharpe:You won't find a better performance than what you saw tonight from this young man.

34:28Chad Johnson:Nah, it was an amazing performance. Just sit there and watch it. It was good to see him really pick up the slack when you get Devin Chinzo and Ant-Man go out to see a guy like that come in and pick up the slack. He was 5-5-3, so he was feeling it. He was feeling good tonight.

34:48Shannon Sharpe:Hey, in the last two playoffs, players that's won the number zero, Devin Chinzo, Tatum, Halliburton, Dane. What has happened, Joe Inocho?

34:59Chad Johnson:Achilles. Achilles. Hey, listen, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I hear you. I hear you. Nah, I'm like, hey, hey. I don't know, bro. Nah. You know. We're not going to do that, Joe. Well, damn, Ocho, it's right here in your face. I mean. Yeah, I mean, nah, Joe. What do you mean?

35:22Shannon Sharpe:It ain't no one. It ain't no zero, one, two, three, four. It ain't no 25, 26, 27, 28. It ain't no 20, 20, 25. it's all zeros. It all happened. When?

35:34Chad Johnson:Playoffs. And hey, look, he didn't really squirm like you see most guys do. He just kind of sat there and was like, man, y 'all - He already know what it was. Huh?

35:49Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, he told him, he's like, come on, hey, he know what it was. He said, everybody explains it, described it the same way, like somebody tripped him. Yeah. Why you trip me? Bro, I ain't even nowhere near you. How the hell I tripped you? Every time y 'all talk about injuries, it's just the thought of it. It give me... I don't know how to explain it. My flesh crawl.

36:15Chad Johnson:I know, bro. I hate that. Hey, Joe. I know we talking basketball real quick. I don't know. It just dawned on me. To give you a better understanding, especially people in the chat, the better understanding like when you talk about certain things especially injuries you know your collarbone your your patella tendon you ever look at the images the images and it's like um let's a sponge for example and it has holes in it yeah and if you look if i forgot what it's called it's a it's a it's a phobia if you look at it it makes your flesh crawl real bad you know i'm talking about and the ash might know what i'm talking about like it's certain images you can look at

36:54Shannon Sharpe:and it always looked like something like arachnophobia is the fear of spiders it's a phobia but if you look at it it makes your flesh crawl real real bad i forgot what it's called i know ash got to know what i'm talking about with 2.1 seconds remaining we'll look it up the wolves are already up 14 mcdaniel took a layup to put them up 16. yogish took exception ran full length of the court getting mcdaniel's face a huge scuffle broke out and they said mark j spears says not a good look. Female fan behind the fight. Another female fan ran for safety. James Jones got a tough... Oh, yeah, I forgot.

37:32Shannon Sharpe:He's the new punishment czar in the NBA. James Jones. Miami Heat used to be GM for the Suns.

37:40Chad Johnson:Yeah.

37:40Shannon Sharpe:What is he now? He the punishment czar at the NBA.

37:45Chad Johnson:Oh, so they finna get into a little scuffle, huh? Yeah. They were already up, and then

37:51Shannon Sharpe:with 2.1 seconds. He laid the ball up to put him up 16. They up 14. Jokic's down at the other end. He come running full speed.

37:59Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, guys don't play that, bro. You know, the game one is over with. They don't play that. You trying to get you a cheap one, boy. Hey, I done seen that happen. They had four quarters. They had 110 before he did that.

38:14Shannon Sharpe:Hey, man. Hey, man, what you doing? Now, I get it. I took exception. I remember one year, Ocho, I was on the air. And you know, Ocho, you know we get in a victory formation. Yeah. Hey, hey, I done took my – I done unleashed my shoulder pads. I got my chin strapped to the back, Ocho. Hey, I'm just taking one step. And Michael Bennett from Seattle fired off the ball. Wait, fool's me? Don't worry about it. Yeah, in the game, yeah, they was in a victory formation. He fired off. Right. If they'd ever done that, don't worry about it. I'm just going to button that chin strap. Right. Hook them shoulder pads up.

38:49Shannon Sharpe:slicing these yeah same thing you hey you remember what Jameis did you remember Jameis Winston the other team thought they got like a bigger formation and then they talk about the guy needed one touchdown nah you don't do that you don't do that

39:06Chad Johnson:yeah

39:09Shannon Sharpe:alright boys we going down yeah we never had obviously when you have a lead I've never had that before I haven't either. But you know guys get mad. Nah, bro. You had 59 minutes and 30 seconds to take out all your frustration. Now this game over. Get your ass off the field. That's it. Now you want to fight. You had four quarters to fight. You ain't put up no resistance. This is why we taking the victory formation. Because y 'all didn't put up no fight. You didn't put up a fight. Guess what we'd have been trying to do? try to score to catch up with y 'all.

39:47Chad Johnson:Hello. Yeah.

39:49Shannon Sharpe:Don't get mad now.

39:50Chad Johnson:Yeah.

39:52Shannon Sharpe:Dang. I never got that on Joe. Now all of a sudden you want to push and shove. Listen, I ain't pushing and shoving nothing. The game is over. The game is over. Get your ass off the field. That's it. Oh, you doing all that talking. I was talking during the game, and that was me saying y 'all suck. That was me. Ain't nothing change. I just don't feel like ready. Ain't no fun now. We up for it. We taking a D. It was fun. It was fun earlier. Yeah. We were both talking. You remember we talking back and forth. You ain't gonna get nothing? Yeah, I am. No, you not? Yeah, I am. Hey, see, it's me. I got something.

40:28Chad Johnson:Yeah. That was me.

40:31Shannon Sharpe:We going back and forth. Yeah. These unwritten rules, but they are, Ocho. You know, the bigger formation, we going down. Mm-hmm. You are. I guess in basketball, Joe, y 'all, you got a big lead. Don't try to get no cheap. don't try to get no cheap layup yeah but what what if what if you're a guy who will never get to play and they throw you in there and here nah nah nah nah you i'm just i'm just saying i put it like this here if i ain't gonna try to score no points as long if you tried to play defense i'm gonna try to score right you stop picking up god dang on full court and i ain't gonna try to score i'm just gonna dribble the ball get my column glow trotter on you keep trying to sail the ball You trying to score?

41:11Shannon Sharpe:I got something for you.

41:12Chad Johnson:Yeah. Every Blue Moon joke, it's always a D-tackle. It's always a D-tackle. That's a knucklehead. And we'll fire off. Knowing you're kneeling down, knowing the game is over, knowing you ain't got no chance to do anything, they're going to fire off anyway. You know what I like, Unk? That'd be funny. When the quarterbacks, when they want to clock it, and the D-tackle try to jump and catch the ball.

41:36Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. You try to go between the center legs. Listen, that shit be so funny. That shit be funny as hell. But, hey, baseball, there's an unwritten rule. Football, every sport has their rule. Hockey, hockey too. Ain't nothing written down, but you just understand over the years, over the years it's been passed down, and, hey. Yeah. 44:57Shannon Sharpe:It is what it is. Hey, Joe.

45:00Chad Johnson:Come on now.

45:02Shannon Sharpe:Cat had his first career playoff triple-double and led the Knicks to a 16-point victory, 114-98. The series is now tied 2-2. He's the fourth Knicks player to record a triple-double in a playoff game, joining Walt Frazier, Dick McGuire, and Josh Hart. All right. The Knicks host game five in MSG on Tuesday night. The series is now guaranteed to return to Atlanta for a game six. Hey, Joe, how you feeling, Joe?

45:34Chad Johnson:I ain't feeling that good. I know you ain't because you owe me$100 now. Make sure you, hey. No, no, no, no. We even because we was up. It's 2-2 now. We was up. Okay. Okay. You're right. You're right. We even. We even. We even. Hey, where the next game at, Joe? It's in New York, bro. Okay. Okay. You know what? That's going to be like high in the garden. You know, the garden is magical. Well, the thing is, I'm going to be honest with y 'all, I kind of like our chances on the road because when you're on the road, you ain't really got nobody else, bro. It's just you and the squad you with. Like I told y 'all before, I said, man, when you come home, everybody have a tendency to relax.

46:12Chad Johnson:Yeah, we won game three, but, hell, we needed three and four. You know what I mean? Yeah. I saw them Knicks fans in there, too. Damn, Joe. I told you, bro. Joe, you was at the game? No, I didn't go today, old Joe. I didn't go today. I didn't go today. But, man, listen. Here's what I'm going to tell y 'all about this series. Take your time. Take your time. New York didn't do nothing that really bothered me. I'm going to be honest with you. I just think it's us as the Hawks. Meaning, we putting so much on CJ to come through and be the hero. Like, bro, I think, you know what I don't think for real?

46:48Chad Johnson:and I think it's because he's still a little young. He a hell of a player, don't get me wrong. He's one of my favorite guys to watch, and that's Jalen Johnson. I don't think he knows that he the baddest mofo on the court. If y 'all just want me to be 100 just from watching the game, he can stuff the stat sheet. Obviously, he can score. He can rebound. He can assist. He can defend. He can do a little bit of everything. 12 shots ain't going to get it, bro. We can't win like that. We need you to be aggressive. When I'm watching the game, I'm watching because there's so much attention on him when he does have the ball that, you know, he got to take advantage of the little mismatches that he do get.

47:25Chad Johnson:You know what I'm saying? He can't be gun shy. I see him out there kind of second guessing himself a lot. All he got to do is just go play, bro. He don't know how great he is and how much he can put his stamp on the game. I feel like, man, everybody on the team relying on CJ to play hero ball. CJ can't get out. He's been playing great the whole series, but we got to have other guys to step up. I know Kaminga didn't play great today. Hey, listen, I think these guys will be better on the road. Obviously, I still got us winning in six. I think we'll be able to come home and finish them out. I think we'll be a lot more focused in game five, but this is a tough series.

48:06Chad Johnson:Cat did. You can tell the Knicks made adjustments, Meaning they passed the ball to Cat at the top, and they set these back picks to where they can get easy buckets. That's how he was able to get 10 assists. I thought Cat played great, but I didn't think they played just over and beyond. Yeah, they had us down by like almost 25, 26 points at one point. But that's just because, man, I'm telling you, bro, when I'm watching the game, Ocho, it's like I don't know what we was waiting on, but it's like, man, we give it to CJ. It's like, CJ, go to work. I'm like, damn, we need everybody to pitch in and do a little something, bro.

48:43Hey, what if you think Jalen Johnson is something in your eyes, but he don't believe he's what you think he is? Especially because we keep having the same conversation. We keep having the same dialogue about him being something that he should be, but he's not showing that on the goddamn court.

49:00Chad Johnson:Well, this is his first playoff, if I'm not mistaken. an Anke Ocho. And it's a learning experience, you know, getting to this point of the season. And I just feel like, you know, he'll get better, but he has to know or somebody has to tell him, hey, look, bro, you the baddest mofo out here, man. You just got to go out here and you got to believe it. You know what I mean? Like, I want to see him really go at his man. Yeah, Josh Hart, a solid defender, Anke Ocho, but he can't mess with Jalen, bro. I'm going to keep it real. He can't mess with that boy. but if he got his mind made up, he can't mess with him.

49:36Shannon Sharpe:Right. But what did you see tonight? What was, where was Cat at?

49:43Chad Johnson:Cat shot two, three, where was Cat at? He did some damage down there.

49:47Shannon Sharpe:In that block, in that paint? I'm trying to tell him that. Huh? Bro, okay. Hey Joe, he with that. You a great shooting big man. You the tallest player to ever win the three point competition. Congratulations. Now get your big ass down on the block and do damage. Yeah, yeah Joe. They ain't got nobody to do anything with him.

50:04Chad Johnson:He did some work. He did some work down there, six for 10. Shot nine free throws. So he was very aggressive. Was aggressive.

50:13Shannon Sharpe:And then Mitchell Robinson come in and getting put backs. Yeah. Because that's the advantage they got is they got size. I mean, if you look at it, Joe, if you really look at the Hawks, they got an elite college team. They ain't got nobody. A Kongu, probably like 6 '9", everything 6 '9", and under.

50:28Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

50:29Shannon Sharpe:The advantage that the Knicks got is they got two 7-footers. and that can do damage. Now, one, Mitchell Robinson, you're not running no plays for him. He understands that. He's the sit picks, roll to the basket, give us some second chance opportunity with offensive rebounds. That's his job. And depend the pain. That's what you do. He does it very well.

50:48Chad Johnson:He does.

50:50Shannon Sharpe:Cat can shoot the three. Cat can pop, shoot the mid-range. Cat can put the ball on the floor. Man, he just look awkward when he go into the basket because he look like he damn walk every damn time.

51:00Chad Johnson:And look, he about to fall over every time he started driving to the hoop. Hey, when you look at it, look at OG, bro. OG been balling, man. Hell yeah. OG been hooping. I ain't going to lie to you. Hey, he the one that scared me out of all of them. I'm going to be honest with you. Brunson, I feel like we can keep him under control. We can contain him. But OG, he got a little something to his game. He got some nastiness to his game. He can make the three. He can get to the cup. Hell, he can defend. He do a lot for the Knicks, bro. Bro, he the reason why they won this game. Him and Kent, they the real reason why they won this game tonight.

51:34Shannon Sharpe:And the shot disparity wasn't out of whack. You know, the last game, Brunson took a bunch of shots. Yeah. When you got it more in line, you got 18, you got 16, you got a couple with 10. We can live with that. But when you got one guy taking 26, 27, 28 shots, and then the other guys are under 15 shots, now that gets out of that. Now, if he makes 19 of those, we ain't got no problem. But when you get down there, you're making 7 of 26. You're making 8 of 26, 10 of 26. That disparity is just too far to whack. And now you don't allow the other guys to get in rhythm. I thought tonight he allowed the other guys.

52:11Shannon Sharpe:OG got it going. That got going. Guys were able to get into a rhythm because Brunson didn't dominate the ball. And I understand he's a phenomenal player, Joe. Yes. And it's just natural because so many times they needed him to play hero. He's needed to be Mighty Mouse.

52:25Chad Johnson:Yeah.

52:26Shannon Sharpe:And he's done that. yeah I honestly Uncle Joe really the Knicks is the superior team here honestly and I think it's their fault for playing down to the competition let me finish Joe let me finish Joe I think the Knicks are the superior team and they're playing down to the competition and tonight the big dogs rose to the Cajun to let the little fellas know who the real deal is as long as Cat does what he did tonight on. I'm going to get my ass off the goddamn three. I'm going to get down here in the block. Get it to me. I'm going to go to work because he ain't got nothing that can stick him down there anyway.

53:09Huh? It's a mismatch

53:11Shannon Sharpe:every time. The difference tonight, Joe, when he got Kamingo on his ass down in the block.

53:16Chad Johnson:Yeah, he took it back. He took it back. What we talk about, Joe? I give him his credit when credit is due, bro. Cat played a hell a game tonight. He played a hell of a game. But I still feel like we have a great chance to do something special. We just need our best player in Jalen Johnson to - Rob Markman - See, Joe, you know what's wrong with Joe? Joe Pagano - What? Rob Markman - Joe is like delusional. He like naive. That's what he is.

53:47Shannon Sharpe:Rob Markman - He's naive to the fact he keep hoping on something to happen, that ain't going to happen to her. Rob Markman - Exactly. Rob Markman - What time is - Exactly. Y 'all ain't no what Ocho. I didn't say nothing. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe like being in like one of them women that have been in 37, 38 relationships, right?

54:06Chad Johnson:Oh, man. Here he go. And still think like the Disney fairy tale happy ending is coming. Hold on. So you think the two games that we won was a fluke? You goddamn right it was a fluke. The goddamn Knicks played down to y 'all level. What you mean? They playing with their food, huh? The Knicks playing with their food. They supposed to be at y 'all up and go ahead and be home chilling. Here's the thing. I don't think it was a fluke. I just think the Knicks were a lot more desperate than we were tonight. Meaning they knew. I agree. Y 'all know this. They knew they couldn't go back. From the jump, from the tip.

54:42Chad Johnson:Yeah, they couldn't go back to New York down 3-1, bro. That's not possible for them. You know, they got, hell, all the Hall of Famers who played for the damn Knicks at the game tonight. I saw that.

54:55Shannon Sharpe:They got Pat Ewing. They got Alex Houston. They got Starks.

54:58Chad Johnson:Hell, Stephon, Marbury. They got everybody in the damn building. You know, it's just, I think they rose to the occasion. Just like you said, even from the start of the game, bro, the first quarter, they were just so much more aggressive than we were. And this is what I be telling y 'all. I'm like, man, listen. We got to take the challenge. we can't come out relaxed yeah i know we at home and it's kind of natural to have a let down a little bit but bro we got to pick it back up series ain't over with it's over joe hey hey hey hey i'm i'm cat down in the block man what we talking about man what are you talking about man hey this over joe Yo, hey, the New York Knicks, let me tell you something.

55:47The New York Knicks might as well start playing Frank Sinatra's my way, because that's exactly what they're having with the Hawks. They wait. What are we talking about, man?

55:55Chad Johnson:Ocho, Ocho, Ocho, Ocho. I'm not even no basketball savant, but I can see it clear as day. You flying. This series is over, boy. It's just one game, bro. It's one game. This is why, this ain't the NFL, bro, where if I'm better than you today, than y 'all going home. We still got games left to play. We got some adjustments we got to make. Joe, it's two more games left, Joe. You know that, right? Yeah, yeah, and we going to win them. You do understand the Knicks is finna send y 'all ass home, Joe.

56:26I'm just being honest. You know what? Put your money where your mouth is, then, if you believe in the Hawks that much. Put your money where your mouth is.

56:33Chad Johnson:We already betting. What you mean? Forget that little$100, Joe. Bet$500. On game six. I bet you$500 on game six. Game six, Joe. 500, game six. Since you believe in the Hawks over. Ah, ah, ah. Since you believe in the Missouri, that goddamn much. Ah, ah. Caw, caw, caw. Bet 500, Joe. Ah, ah, ah. What you wanna do? Yeah, game six, bet it. Game six, 500. Yeah. Matter of fact, I'ma send it to you right now. See, here you go.

57:01Shannon Sharpe:And Ocho. Huh? You do realize they play game five on Monday. I know, I'm sending them money now. What that mean? you said game six he betting on the game when they come back to atlanta you think you betting on the game when they go to new york joe hey hey listen here i don't care what they playing i don't care what they playing as long as cat do what he did tonight the same result is going to be the result going to be the same okay i just want to clarify hey hey hey you must think we ain't got

57:28Chad Johnson:no fight in us or something you might think we saw for something over here well you keep calling the names of people that ain't throwing no punches. What you talking about? We throwing punches, Ocho. We just going to be a little bit. C.J. McCullough the only one throwing punches. He the only one fighting. We going to be better next game, Ocho. You said that two games ago. Yeah, what you mean? We had just won two in a row. What you talking about? You know what? Bet that 500, man. That's all I got to say, man. Hey, New York Knicks, baby. Hey, Joe, Ocho,

58:00Shannon Sharpe:Yo, the Knicks were seen eating Magic City wings. Oh! And they ate your food. Hey, they ate your house ate your food.

58:11Chad Johnson:I hope they get food poisoned. They damn stomach hurting the way they can't play. Yeah, they trying to show out.

58:20Shannon Sharpe:Hey, them lemon pepper wings, they be fired.

58:23Chad Johnson:I ain't gonna lie, they be jumping. They be jumping.

58:26Shannon Sharpe:Hey, they bring the face right out the grease to you.

58:30Chad Johnson:They got them from Magic City. They knew what they were doing. I like stuff like that, though. I like the little... That little petty stuff? Yeah, I like the little jab that the Knicks doing all that, getting the lemon pepper, blue wings, all that. I like all that. I ain't got no gripe with growing with that. Okay. I'm glad you're confident, Joe. You the type of friend somebody need, Joe. Somebody that's always delusional or naive about what's going on in the situation. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Well, how delusional? I can see, Ocho, if we were down 3-0 and we hadn't won a game. Damn, you act like we ain't won a game.

59:04Joe, I understand that Siri is 2-2, Joe. You played the game, Joe. You have phenomenal basketball knowledge, Joe. You know good and well the goddamn Hawks ain't got no reason even being in the same conversation with the goddamn Knicks.

59:19Chad Johnson:That's a lie. Come on now. That's a lie, Ocho. I'm telling you. Listen, bro, when I tell you, we got a guy on our team. obviously we know they really can't do nothing with CJ. But if we get Jalen to be just a little bit more aggressive, Ocho, no matter who in front of him, whether it's Bridges, whether it's Hart, I don't give a damn who guarding him. He's got too much talent, bro, just to take 12 shots. He's got to be way more aggressive than that because I know he can. I've seen him play all year. He's a hell of a player. Obviously, he's a young player. This is probably his first playoff experience, so he's learning on the fly.

59:53Chad Johnson:but I got the utmost belief and faith in him that he going to come through now. I know one thing about it. I like what you're saying, right, Joe? But if you really like that, right, if somebody's really like that and what you see in him is not showing up out there, maybe he's not the guy you think he is. Well, Ocho, he just – I'm just saying because – I'm just saying. Think about me, Joe. Just think about me. If I was playing for the Hawks right now, right, I'm not going to need you to tell me to assert myself into a game in a playoff game when I know I'm that guy. Oh, Joe. I'm just saying. Maybe it's me or maybe I'm tripping.

1:00:27Chad Johnson:Yeah, you tripping. It's you. Listen, game three, the man had 24 and 10. It ain't like he been out there just not doing nothing. He been doing his one-two. What I'm saying is it's going to be hard to beat the Knicks in this series. I understand that. I ain't taking it away from him. But, you know, our best player in Jalen, I don't need him to be deferring too much to CJ McCullough. Okay, I got you. I like and love what CJ bring to the team. You know what I'm saying? And it's much needed, especially in closing games, clutch time performances. Yes, sir. But I want to see my big gun in Jalen. I want to see him really rise to the occasion, just be more aggressive.

1:01:08Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? I just feel like in this atmosphere, obviously playing in the playoffs, 12-shot attempts for him, that ain't enough for me. I'm just going to keep it 100. I'm with you. Joe, I'm with you, Joe. I'm with you. I just, I mean, you in the playoffs I just I just some people, you ain't got to tell them to show up, Joe. They just in them. They just in them, Joe. I get that, Ojo. I get that. Yeah, I'm with you where you're right, but this series is over, though. And no disrespect, like listen, the Knicks ain't out the motherfucking Woodworks, right? They not out the Woodworks. I'm just saying the way the game went tonight, you can tell they've been playing with they fool, Joe.

1:01:47You can tell they've been playing with they fool, Joe and that's no disrespect to the Knicks I love I love Atlanta I love I love the Hawks matter of fact I love the Hawks players matter of fact I even like the wings for Magic City even though I ain't never been there no I ain't never been there but I'm just saying Ocho the one thing I

1:02:04Chad Johnson:can tell you and I'm telling you from experience when you down in the series bro right you play with a sense of urgency and desperation that it's hard for the other team to match you feel me because they're not in the same situation you're in. You feel me? Like, we were up 2-1. So, you know, I think we relaxed a little bit if I'm just keeping it 100. And I just think through everything that the Knicks have been hearing everybody talk about, whether it's on all these different sites, I just feel like they came out with that sense of urgency and desperation that they needed. I'm talking about from start to finish, from the first quarter on to the fourth, bro, they were very desperate.

1:02:44I got you. I got you.

1:02:47Chad Johnson:Damn. But we're going to get the ass back. Don't worry.

1:02:52Shannon Sharpe:I ain't know people can eat hot.

1:02:54Chad Johnson:When? Next year? Oh, come on, Uncle. You got to chill. You got to chill. You got to chill. You got to chill. You got to chill. You got to chill.

1:03:03Shannon Sharpe:Don't you just say it to me like turkey.

1:03:10Y 'all got to chill. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe. You got your phone by you?

1:03:18Chad Johnson:Nah, uh-uh. It's upstairs. Hey, Unk. Damn, where'd it go?

1:03:26Shannon Sharpe:Man, don't be sending me nothing. Hey, hold on. I ain't sending nothing.

1:03:29Chad Johnson:Hey, look, I know we're going to talk politics on here, but did y 'all see what happened, though? Yeah, man, it messed up the game. It cut the game. I couldn't even watch the damn game. I had to go to the ESPN app. You had to go to ESPN, Joe? It was on ESPN.

1:03:42Shannon Sharpe:Man, I missed about a good, what, five, seven minutes? Joe, they said across the bottom, you can watch the game on ESPN. Damn, I didn't know.

1:03:52Chad Johnson:I didn't see that. Hey, Joe. Hey, you know what? What? Hey, you know how I know I'm going to beat Joe's ass one-on-one? How that? Because he got damn delusional about them damn Hawks in the nigga game. You hear me? Hey, hey. That's how I know I'm going to wash his ass. Hey, you ain't doing nothing but digging a deeper ditch for you, boy. I'm talking about Huh? What? I don't list you talking Hey, you gonna be Hey, when we play You gonna be like Jalen Johnson But you gonna be 2 for 14, boy Huh? You gonna be 2 for 14 Talking about What you should and shouldn't be doing Nah, I ain't trying to hear that Playoff time Show me you that Oh, I almost said the N word Show me you that boy Show me you that boy It's the playoffs We need you Oh, I'm gonna teach you I'm gonna teach you By playing on my top home, boy I'm going to tell you about it.

1:04:43Hey, yo, yo, top going to be convertible when I'm done with you, boy. Stop playing with me, man. That's what I do, huh? OK.

1:04:49Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, I like cats like you, bro. I like cats like you. You know what I mean? Hey, I'm going to tell you right now. Once you get me going. I'm going to frustrate you. I'm going to frustrate you, Joe. I'm going to talk you out your game, boy. Once I get going. Damn, Joe, he's ain't going to talk you out your game. Talk you out your game. Hey, yo, I'm going to make Joe want to fight. I'm going to make Joe want to fight. Once I get going, boy, it's going to be hell to turn me off. I'm telling you right now. Joe, once I sit in the chair, you not getting around me, Joe. I'm telling you, once I sit in the chair, it's a rap, boy.

1:05:18I'm telling you. Huh? Stop playing with me, man. You think because you 6 '9", that shit don't mean nothing over here, boy. I got something you can't measure, Joe. What's that? What you talking about, man? I fold your ass like a lawn chair, man. Stop playing with me, boy.

1:05:35Chad Johnson:Oh, boy, I can't wait. I can't wait. Hey, I promise you, chat. Boy, not only we gonna go live, but I'm gonna have some good footage for y 'all. And I promise you, when he get on here, he ain't gonna be able to cop no please. He ain't gonna be able to do none of that. Hey, the first thing you gonna say is, my knee hurt and you gonna stop playing. I guarantee you that. Oh, my knee. Oh, my patella fendon. I bet. Watch. My what? Your patella fendon.

1:06:05hey um the name of that the name of that phobia is called tripophobia you know what i'm talking about now hey you're talking about make your skin crawl oh my goodness and every time y 'all mention something about an injury my my flesh crawl it give me the it yeah that's hey these injuries happen in the postseason bro i told you man

1:06:29Chad Johnson:That's up. The game is revved up so high. Yeah. Unfortunately, some of these guys gotta pay the price.

1:06:39Shannon Sharpe:Mm-hmm.

1:06:40Chad Johnson:Damn. Joe. What's happening?

1:06:47Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, hey, Ocho. What's up? They say that feeling you be at, that's from that old bull head clap you got. What's that? What you mean? You ain't never heard no bull head clap? bull head clap but that's some country shit nah that's what you get you don't treat you don't you get the clap you know and you don't treat it you go you grow a horn they call it bull head they got to take that melody oh yeah i ain't yeah i ain't never had them problem huh yeah i never had hey you know hey no no no no there's different no no no this ain't just clap no no no no it's You got a horn, it get hard and you got to break it up.

1:07:26Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, y 'all better look it up. I can't believe y 'all ain't never heard of no bull head clap. What the hell you be talking about? A bull head clap? Wait, what you - Google it, Google it. Wait, like bull spelled B-U-L-L? Bull head, bull head clap.

1:07:43Chad Johnson:I thought you was making that up. That's all bull headed.

1:07:48Chad Johnson:What is they on show? This one gunnery? Yeah.

1:07:51Shannon Sharpe:Oh my goodness. Is the clap? Huh? Hey boy, ooh, that's nasty. Damn, I can't believe y 'all ain't never heard of no boy in class. I mean, we gotta have it to hear of it. Huh? You got the habit to be able to hear about it. Damn. Oh my goodness.

1:08:11Chad Johnson:I ain't never heard of that.

1:08:13Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I had a homeboy had it in high school. Yeah, homeboy, huh? Okay. I ain't never had no, I ain't never had that. Hey, you had that bull, you had that bull head, huh? And you was held when you was well, huh?

1:08:30It's okay, it's okay. Hey, it's okay.

1:08:35Shannon Sharpe:I already know, I already know. I said, yeah, OJ gonna try to put that on me. Hey, listen, I ain't never heard of it. But hey, bull head, boy, that's different.

1:08:48Chad Johnson:Damn. Different. And who got the TV on? Who in there?

1:08:57Shannon Sharpe:Savi, turn that TV off. That's what that, hey Joe, that's where that skin be crawlin' itching from.

1:09:03Chad Johnson:Oh man.

1:09:05Shannon Sharpe:Bullhead. But I can't believe, Joe, I can't believe you're from the South. The deep side, like me, you don't read though.

1:09:13Chad Johnson:I ain't never heard of that. I ain't never heard of that.

1:09:16Shannon Sharpe:God damn. Damn. Orlando Magic blew a 17.4 quarter lead before a rally to beat the Detroit Pistons 113-105 to take a 2-1 series lead Paulo Bancaro, Desmond Bain each scored 25 points Orlando also got 14.17 rebounds from Wendell Carter Jr. The big shot, Franz Wagner hit a big time three

1:09:45Shannon Sharpe:Joe, I want to know if you saw this. Did you see that what Unsuel Carter that joker had an eight foot shot and he went in the lane and he wasn't shooting and he passed it out.

1:09:56Chad Johnson:Yeah. Bro, you an NBA player.

1:09:59Shannon Sharpe:If you pass up an 18 foot shot and nobody's there. Yeah.

1:10:04Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Hey, look, Detroit in trouble, fellas. You know, you - They are. Orlando got way too much confidence. And if we just want to keep it 100 during getting outplayed by Wendell? I told you, Joe. I said, Joe,

1:10:23Shannon Sharpe:he's been a no-show the entire series.

1:10:26Chad Johnson:He's been getting outplayed. Let's call it

1:10:27Shannon Sharpe:what it is, Chad. Y 'all always say, hey, call it what it is. Joe, what am I supposed to do with this? I mean, think about it. He played, he a starter. He was in the All-Star game, and this man only played 27 minutes?

1:10:42Chad Johnson:Eight points.

1:10:43Shannon Sharpe:You gave me eight and nine. What the hell am I supposed to do

1:10:45Chad Johnson:with that if your man if your man getting 14 and 17 yeah he getting 14.17 rebounds it ain't nothing you can do with that huh it ain't nothing you can do with it i hey listen i seen tobias harris showed up to the party he gave him some help they need some contribution off that bench man they got some guys on the bench who can explode they need something what it being though joe you like you

1:11:07Shannon Sharpe:like jenkins you like laverte you like you like azale stewart you i mean where you guys at joe

1:11:14Chad Johnson:Hell, Jenkins and LaVert ain't playing. They playing a total of 10 minutes together. They ain't really getting no burn like that. He ain't really putting a lot of trust in them guys. It's going to be hard for them to beat Orlando now, man, because they got so many guys now for Orlando that has so much confidence and that's playing well. Like, shh.

1:11:34Shannon Sharpe:But you also got to think about it, though, Joe. If we go back and look at Jenkins, he did a lot of his work when Cunningham was out. Was out, yeah. Now Cunningham is in. Cunningham has the ball. Cunningham got to do a better job taking care of the basketball. Nine turnovers. You can choose one. You can turn the ball over and be efficient, or you can be inefficient and take care of the basketball. Now, you can't do both. You can't be inefficient and turn the ball over. Pick one, Joe.

1:12:01Chad Johnson:Yeah, you're right. You're right. And I think for a guy like Jenkins, Uncle Ocho, it's hard to be consistent in this league, bro, if you ain't getting the minutes. Hell, it's hard to get in rhythm. If I know, when K was out, he knew he was probably going to play 25, 30, 35 minutes a night. No brainer. You know, he was going to be the ball handler. He was going to be the decision maker. He was going to be doing a lot. Hell, K come back now, you getting five minutes, seven minutes, eight minutes. Hell, you can't get no rhythm like that. What you thinking though, Joe? Bang, I ain't going to lie to you, boy.

1:12:37This is the one game I ain't get this chance to see. Okay.

1:12:40Shannon Sharpe:Joe, Desmond Bain was on one today. This Joe was taking the ball, dribbling him behind the three-point line and turning it around over his right shoulder, letting it go. I was like, well, damn.

1:12:50Chad Johnson:Desmond Bain, a hell of a pick-up for them. They needed that. They didn't have no three-point shooting prior to him coming over there. He was seven for nine from the three, from the trade ball today.

1:13:04Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:13:04Chad Johnson:You know, they needed that. They needed depth. They needed three-point shooting, and now they have it. and you surround him with Paulo Bencaro and Wagner, yeah. They've been looking good at home. This is the thing that scares me because I'm like, damn, they got their game in Detroit. It's going to be hard as hell for Detroit to go in Orlando and win a game because they're going to play a lot better. Yes. And they have been. And they had it.

1:13:29Shannon Sharpe:They came all the way back. Cunningham got going in the fourth quarter. Cunningham got it going in the third, and then he really picked up in the fourth. Tobias Harris really got it going in the fourth. and then Jalen Dern, he's been a no-show this series. It's been very disappointing because he's in line to get a max contract, $230,$240 million, and he's playing like this here.

1:13:51Chad Johnson:Yeah, he's getting out of work.

1:13:52Shannon Sharpe:It's been embarrassing, and their role players haven't done much better. I expect Duncan Robinson to play better than what he played. That's probably because he can't defend. So they're going to attack him.

1:14:05Chad Johnson:Not only can he not defend, but if I'm Detroit, I mean, if I'm Orlando, I ain't giving him no airspace. Every time he catches it, I want him to put it on the floor and be able to try to drive because that's not his game. You feel what I'm saying? So I think Orlando is doing a great job. And, you know, the playoffs is about adjustment, fellas. You know what I mean? I know it's one game, but Orlando has got this thing here in the chokehold. It's going to be hard for Detroit to get back a hold of this series. Unless, I mean, look, I need my best players to play their best.

1:14:44Shannon Sharpe:And then I hope I – and that's what I hope. So if K's going to give me – I don't expect him to turn the ball over nine times again. If I can get something similar from Tobias Harris, okay, I can live. Tell me what Jalen Dern's going to do. If he's going to just give me single digits and points and rebounds every game when he was a double-double guy in the regular season? Does he understand that the urgency and the awareness has to become heightened? Yeah. This ain't the regular season, bro.

1:15:13Chad Johnson:It ain't, man. It ain't.

1:15:15Shannon Sharpe:I would like to think you knew that considering that you played in the playoff last year.

1:15:19Chad Johnson:Yeah, I think because I expected much more out of him, you know, this series. But, man, give Orlando credit, Uncle Ocho, especially Wendell Carter, of taking the initiative, taking the challenge to guard during, to outplay during. You know, Wendell, they two totally different players, but Wendell, he's had the upper hand in every game.

1:15:44Shannon Sharpe:Did him. Did him some type of terrible. Man.

1:15:52Ooh. Hey. What's up? What? I'm ready for this next game. I watched that one. I'm going to take this one over, boy. Which one? Well, that goddamn young boy down there. Everybody complaining about going to the free throw line. Say, don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. I got it tonight. I'm going to show you tonight.

1:16:14Shannon Sharpe:We're in the car and say, I got something for you. I ain't got no love for you, Jalen Durden. You know why. Hello. You ain't got to say nothing.

1:16:20Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Hey. He got to bounce back now. Hey, he playing for a bigger reason, ain't he? Yeah, yeah, sure, Leo. Yo, yo don't know nothing about that, so hold your head right now, Joe.

1:16:32Shannon Sharpe:Wait, wait, I missed it, I missed it, I missed it. Say it one more time, huh? I'ma catch it. I say, we're in the car to say, I'm showing you what it's really like.

1:16:40Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

1:16:41Shannon Sharpe:This is why I'm who I am and who you are.

1:16:44Chad Johnson:Hello.

1:16:45Shannon Sharpe:But it ain't none of my business, though. Carry on. Hey, Joe, hey, fill me in, Joe. No, that ain't what we do. That ain't what we do, but you'll pick up on it. You'll pick up on it sooner or later. But - Hey, hey, chat, fill me in, chat. Ain't no chat nothing.

1:17:00Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, hey, but why you playing no, yeah. He playing like that for real, like. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah. Oh, I got it, okay, I got it. Chat told me, okay, okay, okay. Oh, I ain't know they was on. I know you didn't, that's why it was over your head, cause you didn't know. Okay, okay. Hey, that's dope, that's dope, that's dope. They like, they like a little bam, they like a little bam in, in Asia. Okay, I like that. So now we got Peachtree Barbie.

1:17:29Shannon Sharpe:Okay, okay.

1:17:30Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.

1:17:32Shannon Sharpe:That's dope, that's dope. I mean, give Detroit credit because they were down and they came all the way back. They ended up taking the lead.

1:17:38Chad Johnson:They did, they did. They took the lead.

1:17:40Shannon Sharpe:And then Wagner come down, hit a three, and then Paulo Bancaro, and then his hit the front and went to the roof, and then guess what? Bounced in.

1:17:50Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, but look.

1:17:52Shannon Sharpe:At that point in time, you're like, ain't nothing you can do now, bro.

1:17:54Chad Johnson:But when you think about it, man, Orlando really ain't no A.C. on the Ocho. They had so many injuries throughout the season. Wagner missed a lot of games. I'm talking about a lot of games.

1:18:04Shannon Sharpe:Bancaro missed time.

1:18:05Chad Johnson:Bancaro missed a lot of games. So they was out. They was without a lot of their key guys. Even Suggs. Suggs missed time also. Yeah, through a lot of the season. So for them to kind of be healthy at this point in this stage of the season, in the postseason, it's obviously paying off for them.

1:18:24Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Yeah, and see, that's what you like to have happen. Okay, Joe, Ocho, we have injuries. Guys come in, step up. They get that kind of experience, so now we get to the playoffs. Oh, bro, you played big minutes for us. This shouldn't be a shock. This shouldn't be a surprise to you. We're expecting you to continue the way you were playing. We expect you, so I have confidence, although you're not going to be in the starting role, you've shown us we can put something on your plate, and you can handle it.

1:18:48Chad Johnson:Absolutely.

1:18:49Shannon Sharpe:And you look at these guys, the guys are playing. Look, they didn't get a lot from their bench tonight, But normally, Anthony Black plays really, really well for them. Javon Carter, he normally plays well for them. But that starter had all placed all five starters in double figures. And they didn't shoot the ball well. Detroit shot the ball from the floor better than they did. It was just like the turnovers.

1:19:12Chad Johnson:Hey, I wonder what Mo Wagner, what's his problem? Because he say DNP coaches decision, but he really hurt though, right?

1:19:22Shannon Sharpe:Look, Franz is the better of the brothers. I know. Franz is the better of the brothers.

1:19:28Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:19:29Shannon Sharpe:So it ain't no, hey, he get in there, they give him a couple of minutes here and there, but no, Franz is the guy.

1:19:36Chad Johnson:Damn, Orlando look good, bro.

1:19:39Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they look good. Yeah. And like I say, when you get Paulo Bancaro being aggressive, 14 free throw attempts, Joe, tells me he's extremely aggressive.

1:19:48Chad Johnson:Yeah. And I could deal with the six.

1:19:49Shannon Sharpe:He didn't shoot a great percentage, but he getting to the line. Yeah.

1:19:51Chad Johnson:Yeah, I could deal with the 6 for 17 from the field. Hell, if you shoot 11 for 14 from the free throw line. He almost had a triple-double. He missed it by one assist. You know, I think when they got their butt whooped against Philly, ever since then, Ocho, the boy been playing different. Well, they probably was a blessing in disguise

1:20:11Shannon Sharpe:because do you really want to play Boston?

1:20:13Chad Johnson:Hell no.

1:20:14Shannon Sharpe:All things being equal.

1:20:17Chad Johnson:Hell no.

1:20:18Shannon Sharpe:A team that's been there and done that, and they got two guys. that's perennial all-stars, two guys that's been all-NBA. Guys that have been a Finals MVP, been an Eastern Conference MVP, a team that's very well coached and that can shoot it from three. They're going to put up 40, 45, 53s, and they're going to make somewhere 17, between 17 and 22 of those. Yeah. You just hope Boston are cold from the three. Because if they're not going to have three, you're not beating them. Because they're going to put up so many.

1:20:44Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah, if I'm Orlando, I'm happy with getting Detroit in that first round because they're just not high-powered like that. They're not built to shoot a gang of threes. Everything is around Cunningham and Cade and what he does and what he brings to the table and how he makes guys around him better. So I think they've got the matchup that they wanted, and they look good in it.
