In short

Nightcap Hour 1 is a Week 3 NFL recap and debate hosted by Shannon Sharpe (“Unc”) and Chad Ochocinco (“Ocho”). They discuss the Chiefs beating the Giants 22-9, the Eagles’ comeback win over the Rams 33-26, and the Bears/Panthers surprise vibe plus the Colts’ early-season surge. They also pivot to quarterback hot takes: whether the Broncos/Colts? (focus is on Russell Wilson) should bench Russ, and how Caleb Williams looks elite after lighting up the Cowboys.

Guests/backgrounds

No separate guests appear; the “guests” are the co-hosts themselves. Shannon Sharpe is a former NFL star (Hall of Fame). Chad Ochocinco Johnson is a former NFL Pro Bowler/All-Pro.

Key claims

Chiefs’ defense dominated and Mahomes “did enough,” while rookie/young receiver Tyquan Thornton is becoming a trusted target. Eagles’ offense proved it can score when it leans on AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith; play-calling and Hurts’ adjustments mattered. Cowboys’ defense couldn’t handle Caleb Williams; turnovers doomed them. For Russ, they argue a QB change could come within eight weeks due to turnovers and a brutal schedule.

Notable examples

Chiefs’ option/route concepts involving Noah Gray and Travis Kelce; Eagles blocked two field goals and scored 26 unanswered points; Caleb Williams’ four TDs vs Dallas; Isaiah Rogers’ pick-six and multiple turnovers in a Bengals loss.

So let's get right into it, Ocho. The Chiefs beat the Giants. Patrick Mahomes did enough. He is 22 of 37. 224 passing yards, one touchdown, no interception. But, hey, they didn't make a whole lot of plays, but they made the plays that matter. Tyquan Thornton is starting to become his favorite receiver. You can understand that. The only thing I had a problem with, he's trying to do things with Tyquan Underwood, and Tyquan Underwood has only been there three, four months that you would do with a veteran receiver.

5:50Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. Hold on. Listen, somebody got to answer the call. We've been talking about the same thing the past three weeks. No receivers, nobody to throw to. So I like the fact that he has trust in Tyquan Thornton. That's why he's throwing the ball. He's throwing it to him for a reason. No, no, no. I'm not talking about throwing to him. No, he's the one that's stepping up. I'm talking about he had a play, I think it was, what, third down? And they ran like a smash concept. And the guy was in the flat wide open, and he threw it because the guy started coming up that was over him. He saw the guy in, what you call him, one pull up.

6:23Shannon Sharpe:So he went to him, and Mahomes threw it. That's something you and Carson, after being together five or six years, that guy disappears, Ocho, get your head around right now, but put it on you. yes that's not that's something you build up over the course of years no i ain't got no problem because he's making hell of a plays for him and it seems to me he has he has the most confidence in him now i don't know if you saw this but you saw the third quarter on that third and six you saw who ran the option route yes sir no agree it wasn't travis kelsey yeah yeah travis kelsey came back and ran it again though the what do you call the whip when y 'all come in and come back out yeah Yeah, he came back and ran it some other time.

7:03But they have to do things like that and switching positions or switching the route concepts with Noah Gray and Travis Kelsey because they know what he's doing, huh? They know what he's doing. And most of the time, he's getting covered. He's getting frustrated not being able to get the ball. He got into it with Andy Reid on the sideline. Again. Again. I'm probably being frustrated about not putting him in a position to make some of the plays or whatnot. But listen, that happens. I mean, that happens. That's a part of football. I mean, Unc, I'm sure knowing you, you probably haven't gotten into altercations like that with your coaches.

7:33But it happens from time to time, especially in sports, when a player gets frustrated and they have a relationship with a coach like that, stuff like that happens. I got a question for you real quick. Yes. You know where Juan Thorn is from? Mm-mm.

7:46Shannon Sharpe:He went to Baylor, I think. But he from down here in Miami. Oh, is he? Yeah, Boogie T. Washington High School. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Matter of fact, he's coming on strong because he's making plays and maybe because he's healthy, maybe they're giving him opportunities. But New England's probably watching this game like we never saw any of that. Oh, listen, you got to know how to use your players. You got to know how to use your players. That's what I'm saying, yes. You give them the right opportunities and put them in a position to make those plays. Hell, goddamn Mahomes went to him deep back-to-back like it's goddamn 7-on-7.

8:17Shannon Sharpe:You got to. Like it's 7-on-7. Because he's going to make a play. He's the only guy that can really make a play on the ball. On that last play, Hollywood Brown, you know where the ball is. You stop, let the DB run up your back, get a penalty. You don't keep running when you see the ball underthrown, Ocho. That's when you slow down, let the guy run over you, they throw the flag. That's what you're supposed to do. These guys have been receivers far too long to make the most, to not understand this at this point of their career. I understand, yes, the ball was underthrown, but that's when you help your quarterback out because you know it's underthrown.

8:54Shannon Sharpe:the DB didn't have his head around. He doesn't know it's underthrown. So now if you slow down, his momentum is going to run over you and the official is going to throw the flag. But I like Taequann Thornton. He's trying to high point the ball. He's trying to make plays on the ball. But it was – oh, Joe, the first half, this was terrible. This was a terrible game to watch. I was like, damn. It was a snooze fest. Yes. It was a snooze fest, honestly. And I don't know at what point I like that Taekwon Thornton showed up tonight. Obviously, Mahomes is probably going to continue to target him because he's built up trust.

9:31He's built up trust with him. And Taekwon, I know you're going to see this. When opportunities like this present itself and the door opens, close that motherfucker behind you, please. Close it behind you because you can get you, as the season continues to progress, they're going to find ways and put you in positions to make plays based on what you're able to do tonight.

9:51Shannon Sharpe:you're absolutely right Ocho and uh like I said sometimes Ocho it's a situation where a quarter you have a quarterback yeah and you have a system you have a system that's conducive to what you do they let him stretch the field he ran for it too you just can't run him on stop rouse you just can't run him on comeback send him down the field on the nine balls send him on the field on the deep post send him on the far cross and so maybe he's just getting an opportunity maybe he's healthy maybe he's dealt with some injuries in New England whatever the case may be but he's been a bright spot for the Kansas City Chiefs.

10:22Shannon Sharpe:Offensively, it's still, you know. And Mahomes, it's not like Mahomes is playing great. He's missing some throws too now. Because I don't want people to say, well, I understand. Yes, he doesn't have the elitist of receivers, but he's missing some throws that he normally would make. Make, yeah. And we're not used to seeing that. We've gotten accustomed to seeing, you know, every year in the NFC Championship game and the great throws and all these touchdowns and the MVPs, he hasn't played well. Yes, he hasn't played well. Defensively, they did an unbelievable job tonight. Held them to what, nine points?

11:00Matter of fact, not only holding the nine points, and this is, I'm not calling Spaggs, I'm not calling Spaggs, Bill Belichick by any means, but Spaggs does a wonderful job when he goes into a game and they say, you know what, we taking uno away we taking number one away he's not going to beat us matter of fact based on what he did last week against the cowboys he's not catching any deep balls or being productive and being a reason why the giants even have a chance to win this game and malice neighbors did a hell of a job for one not getting frustrated to not cutting up on the sideline because spags no matter what you are not going to beat us tonight no i just i i don't need i'm not going

11:42Shannon Sharpe:and run the same defense. I just want to shut him out in the first half. Right. See, what I want to do is take away early. Yeah. Because now once I take you away the first half, now you're not in a rhythm. I need to touch the ball. The football needs to touch my hand, Ocho, early in order for me to get into a rhythm, in order for me to feel like I'm being a participant in this ball game and that you guys believe that I can help you win the game. Now you spread it all around and you, oh, we're going to spread the ball around. and then you come third, late third, fourth quarter. Hey, what you got, Ocho?

12:17Shannon Sharpe:I ain't got nothing. But I had a lot in the first half. I ain't got nothing now. Hey, Ocho, that's one of the worst feelings. You're going to tell me, I know. I don't think people understand. You go into a game playing, you practice Wednesday, you practice Thursday, you practice Friday, you look at the first team scripted plays, you know, going into the game. You feel it about yourself. Okay, I got a chance to get the ball here. Yeah! Okay, I like this play here. I'm glad we got this dialed up. You get into the game, you well into the third quarter, you ain't touched the ball yet. Like, I mean, hello?

12:51If I'm not mistaken, Malik Nabors didn't catch the ball to the third, fourth quarter? Fourth. I faked the fourth. Like, come on. He had to run the Boston Marathon.

13:00Shannon Sharpe:Hey, got some great cardio. I don't need to come in on Monday and run the soreness out. I got my soreness out. And that's the thing, Ocho. Then you come out late third quarter, hey, keep your head in the game. Man, I'm thinking about what I'm going to order tonight for dinner, man. You talking about this game, man. Y 'all done bull job me all day. And now y 'all going to talk about keep my head in the game. Man, I'm thinking about this grilled chicken and rice from Black Eyed Pea. These rolls with honey butter. Man, I'm done with y 'all. Y 'all done tried this bull job all day. Ocho, we done go Wednesday, Thursday.

13:32Shannon Sharpe:Hey, it's my time to take a break and the backups to come in, Ocho. Hey, 84, we want this. Hey, this is going to be your play. Got me all geeked up. Man, I come and come Sunday. Y 'all pull this bull giant band, please. Man, y 'all better get out my face before I start cursing everybody. Hey, it's so funny because I can envision it because I've been through it. Yeah, yeah. I've been through it. Oh, my goodness, man. And then you just realize, like, hey, man, you know what? It is what it is. It was the games that I did not, like, the week of practice. Yeah. You know, I catch one or two balls in here, like, okay, it's going to be one of those days.

14:10Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And then that was the week that they turned it loose. Go crazy. And the week that they feed you all these balls, you tired and everything, you don't do nothing. Yeah. You don't get any plays. But I think the thing is that, and sometimes you're the last to realize it. Kansas City realized that Kelsey is not the same. If you notice, they throwing that ball to Noah Gray an awful lot, Ocho. Yeah, yeah. They throwing it to him an awful lot. And he's getting frustrated, and I understand it. Because he's like, I'm still 8 '7". I'm still Kelsey on the back. I'm still a big-time player. But it's harder and harder.

14:51Shannon Sharpe:And, you know, Mahomes, a lot of times, it might be his play call, but Mahomes getting flushed. We're getting pressure. Yeah, most of the time. And you know what might be happening, too, on? That we can't see, most of the time, the plays that would normally be for Kelsey, they might be putting Noah Gray in there. They are. And having Noah Gray run those plays, understanding that, well, you know what? It's time to weed him out. It's time to weed him out little by little. It's what they do to all the greats. It's what they do to all the greats. Think about Puganakua and Cooper Cup. Cooper Cup last year in L.A.

15:26Who got all the balls? All of a sudden. All of a sudden, you go from a triple crown winner to now someone new comes in. Now they're putting him in all the positions in the balls you used to get. True. It's the same thing going over there in KC. You know, he's lashing out about it, and he's getting frustrated about it.

15:45Shannon Sharpe:Andy got frustrated because Andy bumped him. You see, he bumped me back, huh? And that ain't Andy. Big Red ain't normally like that because you remember last time, Red just took it age. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But not this time, it's like, nah, nah, nah, nah. Red said, I ain't going for this. Nah, not today. They needed this. No, me, honestly, I've never gotten into it. You know, I've always tried to be mindful, knowing the cameras are on, Ocho. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, excuse me. If I got a problem with my position coach, who was my offensive coordinator, Matt Cavanaugh was my offensive coordinator, you know, hey, I will see y 'all on Monday.

16:26Shannon Sharpe:I'll be up there on Tuesday. If I got a problem with something, if I had a problem with the coach, I'll handle it then. But no, not to cause no scene. I tried, and I was really good at that, of not causing a scene with my coaches on the sideline, understanding who I was. And it was going to be, even if it was nothing, it was going to get blown up to me more than actually what it was. So let me just try to be, you know, discretion is the best part of Val and keep it down. And then behind closed doors, I'll say, hey, bro, I need y 'all X, Y, and Z. But I've tried, you know, I tried to do that. And when guys would get upset, like, bro, hey, there's going to be a time and a place for all that.

17:06Shannon Sharpe:Let's get behind closed doors, and then we can have that. You can have that discussion, or we can have that discussion. But everybody, but it's not always like that, Ocho. Sometimes that thing just spills out. You just got so frustrated enough of this bull giant. Now, have I thrown my helmet? Absolutely. Yeah. Have I thrown my helmet before? I've done it in practice. And on a Sunday on the sideline, I wouldn't do that. And I've always had coaches. I'm not saying Hugh Jackson was like Mike Tomlin, but I respected him so much. Yeah, Hugh Jackson. I can't. I can't. It just wouldn't feel right. You know what I mean?

17:45Shannon Sharpe:Yep, I understand what you mean. Oh, Joe. Yo. We're going to talk about this a little later. What, what, what? All I know is Daniel Jones looking real. Indiana Jones looking good. Hey, boy. What? What I told you yesterday, Unc, this reminds me, this reminds me, Baker Mayfield in Cleveland. I'm going to tell you again, Sam Donald in New York, not being in the right system, not having the right pieces around you, and all of a sudden getting to a team, well, God damn, I could deal with this. Okay, this fits me. Matter of fact, they actually want me. Unfortunate circumstance because they didn't believe in Anthony Richardson, but, oh, I'm in the right place now.

18:29Now look at me. Oh, it's no problem. We Danny Dimes. He dishing. He running. I mean, dog, the Colts look good. My surprise team this season was the Bears and the Panthers. Well, the Bears and the Panthers won today. Outside of the first two weeks, it looked abysmal. But hell, I should have put the Colts in that. You should have. I should have put the Colts in a group of teams that are going to surprise people this year because they going crazy.

18:56Shannon Sharpe:They look really good. He got a good group around him. They got a very decent offensive line. I think the thing is, Ocho, New York, you and I both know we've never played in New York, but we understand the media, the scrutiny that comes along with playing in New York. And he struggled early, and then he had that one season. He gets the contract, and he struggles again. And it's hard. I mean, it's hard to be hard of hearing. because they write what they write. And even if you don't see it, somebody you know did see it and they send it to you or they tell you about it. And it gets hard. He's in Indy now.

19:39Shannon Sharpe:And I think the biggest thing is, Ocho, he doesn't have the expectations. Where you're the top pick and you go into New York, he was supposed to be the savior. And so when it doesn't happen... hey that's the wrong place they have to be the savior um in new york yeah for sure hold on with them tabloids with them newspapers with that fan base and the expectation that's the giants man please they've been playing football since the 20s and uh they don't they don't play their expectations are very very high very high then to be the quarterback too to be quarterback number one in new york whether it's the jets or the giants uncle you got to have thick skin yes They have very thick skin and have everything going one ear and out the other.

20:25Eli Manning was really good at it.

20:27Shannon Sharpe:Yes. He was really, really good at it. Ocho, it's about time for us to have this discussion. What? What? What happened? What happened? Russ. Oh. You know it's coming. Hold on, man. You know it's coming, Ocho. You know it's coming, too. Hold on, man. Hold on, now. Come on, man. Come on, man. Hey, we talk about God's child, now. Hey. We talk about God's child. Look like God might be favoring Jackson Dart more now. I don't know. But Ocho, when you think about it, Ocho, you know when they start putting that quarterback in there and giving him plays, you know it's only a matter of time. They did that week one now.

21:06They did that week one too. They had small packs for him just to get him acclimated, get him in. Have you seen their schedule?

21:13Shannon Sharpe:It don't get no easier. Hey, they got the Eagles twice. They got the Broncos, the Chargers. The only game that looks like it might be winnable, but it's on the road, is the Saints. Well, hold on. Wait a minute. Hold on. They're going into a gauntlet of very difficult games. They got the Eagles twice, right? The Saints might be the only winnable game. Would you want to make a switch to Jackson Darden and put them under fire against the Sharks who are getting ready to go against? The Eagles defense? Man, don't kill a kid confidence already. This ain't the preseason no more. I understand that. And you understand the way teams are going to dial up defenses.

21:55You were the rookie quarterback. What's the first thing they're going to do? Oh, man, send the house at him. Confusing.

22:02Shannon Sharpe:Confusing. The question is, how long can he keep the natives at bay? The fan base, the team. How long can he keep them at bay, Ocho? Because you took this guy in the first round. and everybody saw how well he played in the preseason. Forget that it's not the regular season. People don't care about that. They saw what he did in the preseason. And so it offered them hope. Oh, Ochoa, you know you've been out with, hey, sometimes, hey, you might not get a four-course meal, but sometimes, you know, some bread and some water and some rice do miracles. There might not be no porterhouse. There might not be no Wagyu or no tomahawk.

22:44Shannon Sharpe:But hey, it offers you something, some nourishment. It offers you some hope. Right, right, right. Does Jackson Dart open? And I think you look at Russ's numbers. And I'm like, you go last week and you play. You throw for the second most yards of your career, 450 yards. Yeah, yeah. It was the bad turnovers, though, Ocho. Yeah. That a key every time. Yes. Obviously, that turnover towards the end of the game, that went high. I think he was trying to throw the corner out to neighbors. Remember, he got hit. He got hit. It still goes off. It still is as an interception by him. But other factors go into those things.

23:24I think – how many of you would you give them before they make a change? What do you think?

23:28Shannon Sharpe:Well, me and you had a bet over under eight. I said it's going to be under eight. You said it would be over. Yeah. I'm sticking with my under – I think they make a quarterback change. Chad, I'd be interested to know what you guys think. but I definitely think it's going to be under eight weeks before they're going to make a change, don't you? Damn, man. Hold on. I need my chapstick. My lips feel like powdered donuts.

23:55Shannon Sharpe:It's going to be very interesting. I think, you know, look. The combination of Daniel Jones looking so good, and maybe that's an indictment, chat. Maybe that's an indictment on Brian Dayball. Maybe he's not the whisperer that we thought he was, but he has such success. What happened was that he went to Buffalo, and Buffalo has such success, and he has such success with Josh Allen. Come to find out, Josh Allen was going to have success with anybody because, look, he wasn't the MVP, and his offensive coordinator that he had success with wasn't there. So that's not to discredit that Brian Dayball, because, yes, he has a good offensive mind, but for whatever reason, it's not translating Russ.

24:40Shannon Sharpe:and Malik Nabors like, hold on. I had worse quarterbacks last year and look at my numbers. Yeah. Because that's what – as a receiver, all I can go by is like, I don't care what you did at Seattle, at Denver, at Pittsburgh. What are you doing here? Because look at my numbers, what I had last year. Look at the quarterbacks. I had Tommy DeVito and some of the guys that I had. And I had 112 catches. Hold on. You got to understand too. Also, you're a rookie. You're a rookie. So you're playing a 17-game season. We don't care what you did at LSU. The coordinators ain't going to respect you. You're going to have to prove yourself to us before we give you the kind of attention you get now.

25:19See, it's different now. One of the things, one of the testaments that makes a great receiver is not what you do your rookie year. It's being able to do what you do week in and week out when they know you're coming. You've arrived now. now you still got to be able to keep up that same work, that same production. Give me the giant schedule the next seven weeks.

25:49Shannon Sharpe:Next eight weeks. Give me just the next eight weeks, eight, nine weeks. I think they got the Chargers next week. I think they're on the road at the Chargers. That don't make it no better. That don't make it no better. The Chargers look good again. You're definitely right, Ocho. They got their work cut out for them. Yeah. They got their work cut out for them. You know, Philly, they got Philly in a span twice in the span of a month. Damn.

26:19Shannon Sharpe:She puts it up. Hold on. Guys, I want to read you their schedule. Oh, here it is. They're at the Chargers next week. Then they're at the Saints. Okay. They're at home against the Eagles. at the Broncos at the Eagles. So they got the Eagles in a span of three weeks, they got the Eagles. So here's their schedule. Chargers, Saints, Eagles, Broncos, Eagles, Niners, Bears, Packers, Lions. Ooh. Man, who the hell gave them that schedule? I'm not talking about the division games. I'm talking about outside of that. Hey. That's nasty work. For sure.

27:05Shannon Sharpe:whoo that's a and so next five so the chargers saints eagles broncos eagles that's the next five weeks ocho they probably well listen i give them they could beat the saints and they could beat the broncos so i give them two games out of that little gauntlet when you're moving like i do you don't always get a lot of lead time trips come together fast for production shoots, brand appearances, or filming, and I've got to be ready to go. On the day I decided to enroll in the nursing program at Rasmussen University, it was afternoon, my 35th birthday. I was hanging out with a friend and they had just questioned me what I was going to do with this next chapter of my life. I immediately had said, I want to go to nursing school. So I actually had contact information from an advisor at Rasmussen, contacted her, and actually ended up starting like three weeks later.

But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be because honestly, like this is something that's affecting everybody. It's affecting black women. Yeah. You know, heterosexual, homosexual. It doesn't even matter. Sexually active. Yeah. Anybody who is sexually active. And if there's something that you can do, just think about like before we had PrEP, you know, how scary it was to be like, oh, what if this happens?

30:59Shannon Sharpe:Okay, okay, beat the Broncos and beat the Chargers. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, I'm just saying. The Eagles beat the Rams by the score of 33-26. The last time the Eagles blocked two field goals in a single game, September 21st, 1975, against the Giants. 50 years to the day, history repeated itself, though this time it was a walk-off winner. The Rams looked to be like world beaters through the first half, Ocho. The Eagles managed just 33 yards, including negative one passing in the first half, their lowest output since 2015. However, the Eagles roared back, scoring 26 unanswered points. And in the end, the Eagles managed to pass for more than 200 yards, the Rams 196.

31:43Shannon Sharpe:96. I think the Rams only had 33 yards in the second half. The Rams fell apart in the game and the week second day was a big reason why.

31:54Shannon Sharpe:This is what the Eagles are going to have to do, Ocho. Teams are not going to let Saquon beat them. They're not going to let Saquon beat them. Okay, go ahead. I want to hear what you want to say. Go ahead. I was so excited. I was so excited watching this too. At the half, everybody everybody talk about oh he got negative whatever it may be he might have been four for eight for 17 yards my tweet at 218 218 at the half was jaylen hurts would be able to prove himself with this arm this game and that makes me happy so he can quiet the doubters being behind at the half can be a good thing and i knew patula was gonna have to come out stop running the ball stop playing safe because you're able to lean on the run to be able to throw when you want to because Jalen Hurst can do what you ask of him when need be.

32:44And I knew in the second half they didn't have a choice but to put the ball in the air. Correct. Jalen Hurst can do that. The same way they did against the Chiefs. The Chiefs say, Spagg say, we not letting Saquon beat us to the Super Bowl. What did Jalen Hurst do, huh? Went to his what?

33:00Shannon Sharpe:He threw it. He threw it. He threw it. So people are thinking I'm Nachodomis or I'm this damn prophet because of what I said because they were down 19 or whatever. it was down to the half, but I knew it was going to happen. The defense is already good enough. The defense is already good enough. All they have to do, and Petula have to call plays for A.J., goddamn Hercules Brown, and Devontae, small man, Smitty. And you're going to be all right. Just get him the ball. It's not that hard. It's not that hard. It's simple. Yeah, J. Hurst was 21 of 32, 226, three touchdowns, no interceptions. Saquon was 18 rushes, 46 yards, but it was A.J.

33:43Shannon Sharpe:Brown in the second half. He had six catches for a buckled nine and a touchdown on 10 targets. Devontae Smith had eight for 60 and a touchdown. I have a question, y 'all. Yeah, go ahead. How come, and it's so funny, in the second half I came back and I followed up on a tweet and said, listen, I told y 'all what Jalen Hurst was going to do. Petula called a great second half, and then all the Eagles fans were like, man, Petula ain't called nothing. Jalen Hurts was calling them plays. I mean, listen, give the officer coordinator credit. Give him credit. Y 'all don't like his play calling. He didn't like it this week.

34:18He didn't like it the week before. But they continue to win the games. That was his play calling. I think now he can trust Jalen Hurts to be able to do something a little different outside of what they normally do. Matter of fact, open up the goddamn game with the pass. Why can't you play the second half like you did the second half in the first half? Or why not play like that all four quarters.

34:40Shannon Sharpe:It'd be interesting. You know, you ask yourself like, why are we going to do that? Sometimes you're in desperation. And when you're desperate, you know, you resort and then you throw the ball and you get the ball to your best players. They should always try to get the ball to A.J. Brown and Devontae Smith. But for whatever reason, hey, they hard-headed. They're going to run the football and do all this other stuff. And then when the rubber needs to meet the road, you got two playmakers. You know what? Let's go ahead and put the ball in our playmakers' hands. And they did that today and it was beneficial.

35:10Shannon Sharpe:Devontae Adams would love to have one of those balls back. He had Blankenship beat again for a touchdown and he let it slide through. And, you know, got blocked. And the kicker, you kicked it low the first time, they blocked it, you kicked it low again, they blocked it again. I don't know if he kicked it low, but he got so much push I was like, damn, Jordan Davis was damn near in his lap. You also, you got to think, depending on how far back like they were for the kick, you got the choice, but to hit it low. Could you hit it high? You're not going to get the distance. But the thing is, I don't think it was but like a 40 something yard kick.

35:41Shannon Sharpe:It might've been 45 yards with the, with the kicker leg today. Oh, Joe, that should be a, that's, that's, that's a chip shot. You run back in the day at 25 yards. That's a chip shot. 40, 40 to 45 yards. That's a chip shot field goal. Cause the guys now they driving this ball. I mean, they're kicking the ball now. I mean, most kickers are good from about 50 at least 54. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I got a question, too, on that special teams. The people that's hopping over the guard and the tackle, as long as they don't touch the guard and the tackle or impede them. As long as you don't get leverage.

36:11Shannon Sharpe:If you leave your feet, you can't brace off him or you can't land on him. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Well, honestly, all you got to do is put a small guy there. All you got to put somebody small that's athletic, and they can get to the goddamn field and go down there every time. Well, what they did is it looked like they lined the two Georgia boys up next to each other and they just rooted the guard up out of there. They drove him back. And Jordan Davis got his hands up. He blocked it. It's rare that you see the guy that blocked it. That lets you know just how much penetration he got. Because not only did he block it, he scooped it up and ran it back.

36:47Shannon Sharpe:Normally the guy that blocks it, Ocho, is one of the wings of somebody like that that's coming around the edge. He got so much penetration. Not only did he block it, he scooped and scored. And he was running too. Yeah. Oh, he was moving, wasn't he? he ran almost 19 miles an hour but Jordan Davis about 300 pounds ain't he? No he probably about 320 320 because you know at one point in time in Georgia but he lost weight because he knows in order for him to make the money that he wants to make he just can't be a one down two down player first and second now he's turned himself into a three down player now they leave his ass in there on third down he can collapse the pocket he can sack the quarterback.

37:30Shannon Sharpe:Now he's like, hey, Eagle, y 'all gonna pay me or somebody gonna pay me because I want some big bucks and no whammies. I love to see that for the young man because he's still a huge man. But now he's turned himself, he's got himself in condition that he can play more than 20, 30 snaps a game. You can see now you see the difference here. And if I'm Big Dez, because you know reports are that Tampa Bay is thinking about bringing Dez back. I thought he came back. Well, he might be. I was reading that he might be. He came back. He came back. But if I'm dead, I'll reach out to Jordan Davis and say, man, what you do, man?

38:10Shannon Sharpe:Right. Because, man, you lost like 40, 50 pounds. Man, what you do? Mm-hmm. How you do that? Yeah. Because Jordan Davis said, you know what? I just don't want to be a two-down player. And two-down players don't make as much money as three-down players. Right. And I want to make as much money as I possibly can. I'm in a great situation, and I want to get paid. and the young man is playing his ass off. He's rushing the passers. We know he can stop the run. He's a mammoth of a man. But now he's turned himself into a three-down player, Ocho. The sky's the limit. But the Eagles scored 26 unanswered points and they come back and win the ball game by the, what, 29, 27, 26.

38:52Yeah. Listen, that's what a top five quarterback does. That's what a top five quarterback does. The stats are cool. Numbers are cool. It looks good. But like Uncle say, when the rubber meets the road and you need something done, like coming back, like Batula and Jalen Hurts just did in that second half, that's what a top five quarterback does.

39:17Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe, you see what happened on the tush push. The guard left early again. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They got to get their timing together. They got to get their timing together. They ain't got to tell me the officials got to call it. Oh, they didn't call it today? No, they didn't. And the guard was clearly gone. Oh, I was listening with no sound. There wasn't no sound where I was at. Yeah, yes. Because the guard is moving early. Yeah. And that's, I mean, it's already an advantage because you get to aid the runner. But in that situation like that, I think they're going to end up banning it. the push push yep and I don't think it has I don't think it has anything to do with you know being the risk for injury goes up hell the risk for injury is there on every damn play if you're offensive and defensive lineman because that's all y 'all do is bang we get to take a playoff hell if it's a run the other way we can run off or we can just pretend like we trying to cut you off when you're an offensive and defensive lineman and you bang every damn play.

40:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, pause. Oh, Joe. A week after the Giants, Russell Wilson threw for 450 yards and three scores. Caleb Williams lit up the Cowboys secondary for four TDs. Five touchdown passes against Dallas has allowed 25 yards or more, leads the NFL. Caleb Williams is the first player with 225-plus passing yards and three or more passing touchdowns in any half this season. Jerry Jones still believes the Cowboys are a playoff caliber team despite the 1-2 start. Okay, they can't get to the quarterback. I told you. I told you about Caleb Williams. All y 'all that was talking trash about him, I told you. Give him some time.

41:13Give him some time. It's your tool. Ben Johnson just got there. A lot of creativity set in. It's like your first date, huh? when you go on your first date, you got to get to know each other. You got to find out what each other like. I got to understand what you can and what you can't do. Okay, you like this? Okay, this works. Okay, okay. You want me to open the card up for you? Okay. But when you want me to order first? Okay, I'm going to wait until your food get here. Like all the little small things, all the little tiny nuances, huh? And then when it all comes together, it starts to mess in a little bit.

41:50It's a beautiful thing. It's a beautiful thing because today it was a beautiful thing, huh? Every trick play worked damn near. The running game worked. Kalen Wee was accurate. He was sharp. Eyes down the field the whole time. I mean, it was beautiful. And most people say, oh, relax. They was playing the Cowboys. Oh, relax. They was playing the Cowboys. Hey, well, that's Jerry's fault. He let one of the best pass rushers, if not the best pass rusher, go and said his team got better. He said his defense got better. Well, based on what we saw today, I think that might have been a lie. C.D. Lamb, I hope you're okay, boy.

42:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I do that with that. It looked like a high ankle sprain because I've had my roll like that inside. Whew, that thing hurt. That thing hurt. Caleb Williams was 19-28, 298, four touchdowns. It was unbelievable. Luther Burton III, three catches, 101, one touchdown. Roma Dunze, three for 62, touchdown. DJ Moore, four for 21, a touchdown. But as a Cowboy, y 'all not going to win the game with four turnovers. Who y 'all think y 'all going to beat with Dak throwing two picks, Milton throwing a pick, and then Javante Williams had the guy just take the ball out of his hand from behind. Hey, that was a good play too, though.

43:07Shannon Sharpe:Hell of a play. Hell of a play. Hell of a play. Hell of a play. It was. It absolutely was. That was a really good play.

43:18Shannon Sharpe:it might be a long season for the Cowboys yeah I mean I could have told you that I could have told you that when the man want to be in the goddamn front of the camera all the goddamn time let the players play they better hope CD come back soon they better hope CD come back ASAP little high ankle sprain he might be out for a week maybe a week I mean if that Because the thing is, Ocho, man, look, you're a receiver, bro. You got to be full speed. You can't be hobbling. No, at all. You can't. You can't. And especially his slot. So you got to be able to plan, stop, cut, change direction. You got to be able to do all that.

43:58And that's his bread and butter. That's his bread and butter, too, huh? Yak. Yep. I mean, being able to get the ball and react, change directions, a lot of movement, all that. So, I mean, I give him maybe a week. I think he didn't miss a week at most.

44:11Shannon Sharpe:And guess what happened today? What? They kept Caleb Williams clean. He didn't get sacked. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Now, here's a guy that got sacked 68 times. He had gotten sacked. If I'm not mistaken, he had gotten sacked the second or third most times of any – the second or third most sacks in a season by a quarterback. Yeah. And look at the team. Look at he had gotten sacked this year. Cowboys didn't get him. Yeah. I mean, I wonder why. I think the one person who could have got sacks today, I think he hit Green Bay, if I'm not mistaken. But let the owner tell it, he said they got better. I mean, those were his words.

44:51Shannon Sharpe:Nobody believed that. You don't let your best players go and get better. Not eventually, but no, it's going to take some while. It's going to take some time because you have got to be able to put pressure on the quarterback because everybody can put pressure on your quarterback. So the Cowboys, hey, they got the Eagles again. They got the commanders. The Giants played them tough. But, you know, it's interesting to see what their schedule is going to look like the rest of the season. Yeah. Because ain't nobody trying to hear that they missed the playoffs again. Yeah. It's only week three now. I know.

45:32We got a long way to go. We got a long way to go.

45:36Shannon Sharpe:After Joe Burrow went down last week with a toe injury. Oh, man. Come on, man. You going to stay that for the end of the show? The Bengals insisted they wouldn't panic. They believed Jake Brown could run their offense well. Bengals might need to call Falcons, my old first cousin. Now the Falcons say, nah, after what we saw today in Carolina, we're going to hold on to first cousin. We might make him a permanent member of the family. Yeah. 48:39Shannon Sharpe:Oh, Joe. Talk to me. Y 'all got the doves blown up, y 'all. Hey, we got, hey, built the ass, huh? Hey, listen. Foot the ass. Hey, built the ass. I can be honest. I can be honest. I know I got a lot of Vikings fans in here. You know, I showed you love today. I talked a little trash. I talked a little trash. Somebody tweeted out, give me one team that's guaranteed to lose a day. Guess who I tweeted out? The Vikings. So, listen, I thought we was going to win. I was feeling good. I felt good. I personally felt good about Jake Browning being able to lead a Bengals to victory today. Obviously, things didn't go the way I'd expected them.

49:22They didn't go the way I expected them. Interceptions, fumbles, and before I even go into the game, before I even go into the game, goddamn Isaiah Rogers. Isaiah Rogers. Defensive player of the week. Hey, boy, you defensive player of the month because I don't think nobody else going to pull none of that off what I saw today, boy. You was all over the place, boy. You was all over the place. Boy, you need to change the number from two to one.

49:49Shannon Sharpe:Pick six. From two to one because you that boy. Huh? He had three fourths turnovers. Two touchdowns. Hey, Unc, boy, Isaiah Rogers, boy. I salute you, boy. You was the real deal today, boy. Oh, Madden, I got you. I'm going to take care of you. I'm going to take care of you. And obviously, listen, the better backup quarterback played well today, Unc. He played well. Obviously, having turnovers didn't help us either. But, I mean, they whooped us up. Unc, fair and square. Five turnovers y 'all had, Ocho. Huh? Y 'all had five turnovers. Yeah, I ain't making no excuses, Don. I ain't making no excuses.

50:27I can't.

50:29Shannon Sharpe:I can't. Wentz was 14 to 20 with two touchdowns. Jordan Mason had 16 rushes, 116 yards, and two touchdowns. Yeah. TJ Hawkinson had a touchdown. Josh Oliver had a touchdown. Hey, what Justin had? Justin had five for 75. Okay, okay, okay. What we had, what my receivers had, what Chase and T had? Chase had five for 50. Okay, okay. He had one for 15. Okay, okay. Sometimes you have games like this. Sometimes you have games like this. My grandma always told me it would be days like this. Sometimes the rapper got the gun. Sometimes you got the gun. Today the Vikings put belt to ass. But we'll see again.

51:11I'm not going to say we lost because Joe Burrow is out. Injuries are a part of the game. It's a part of football. Next man up. We got whooped today. Back to the drawing board. Who we got next week, Ash? Who we got next week?

51:25Shannon Sharpe:The 34-3 halftime deficit tied for the largest in Bengals history. Cincinnati was down 31-0 to the Lions in 1970. They became a team, ladies and gentlemen, in 1968. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. That's not necessary to bring that up. It's not necessary to bring that up. Yeah, we got to let them know how y 'all stunk it up today. That's not necessary. That's not necessary at all. it ain't looking good for y 'all all I know oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah who we got next Broncos wait who got the Broncos next y 'all do where we playing at in Denver oh shit see I don't is that a Sunday night game what game is that is that a national televised game because I want everybody to see us put foots in them.

52:20Shannon Sharpe:Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down, slow down. Listen, don't write a check that they ain't going to be able to care because you ain't going to be on that. Well, you ain't wrote a check in a while. As a matter of fact, that's the problem right now. You ain't wrote me my check. Listen to me. Listen to me. It's Monday Night Football. It might be a trap game, huh? It might be a trap game. Don't get too excited, man. We got y 'all trapped. That's Monday Night Football, Ocho. Hey, don't. No, it ain't because the Jets play the Dolphins. Monday night football Bengals at the Broncos next week How's that possible?

52:55Unk and the Dolphins play the Jets I know I'm not tripping The Dolphins play the Jets Monday Yes they do Unk I'm telling you Look at the schedule

53:07Shannon Sharpe:I'm looking at the schedule Y 'all in trouble Oh it's a doubleheader Yep Oh man I might I'm not even finna say nothing I'm not finna say nothing You shouldn't Yeah I'm not in a position to say nothing Y 'all got atomic bomb dropped on y 'all and you gonna talk about I ain't gonna say nothing What can you say They had y 'all down They should have even put a 50 piece on y 'all Had a chance to put a 50 piece They did But you gotta understand I'm not making no excuses We gotta ask what And guess what We're going to do that to you. We're going to go out and put that 50 piece on you. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.

53:50Be careful. Don't do that. Don't do that. We're going to sprinkle you. But listen, Jake Browning, Jake Browning, he got his feet wet. He ain't been out there in a minute. He got his feet wet. Now, just because we lost and they put up 40-something on us today, don't mean that didn't Robarco go do it because y 'all just got – didn't y 'all get mollywhopped today by the Chargers? No, yeah, walk off field goal. Didn't y 'all get mollywhopped by – If your team lost today, you shouldn't be able to say foot or ball while you're here sitting here talking about my Bengals, and y 'all lost who? Oh, Joe.

54:2048? Y 'all lost who? 48? Hey, um. To walk into them. Hold on. Time out time. Whether it's 48 or whether it's three. L is an L. You lost. All L of A created equal. Hey, matter of fact, it's created equal. It's great.

54:38Shannon Sharpe:And y 'all lost to walk into them. Hey, do me a favor. don't say foot or ball the rest of the night. And guess what? Y 'all better catch another L. You won't put nothing on it. I mean, I'm looking at this car and I'm like, damn. Alright, alright. I'm like, what kind of... We know why we lost by that much. We don't know we don't. No, I'm not going to say it because I don't make excuses but we know why we lost. The Minnesota Vikings are the better team. Okay. Isaiah Rogers won that game. Turning the ball over. They had points. Y 'all played defense? Y 'all didn't have to let them score. Okay. They got 14.

55:27Shannon Sharpe:They got 12. They got 14 points. Where did they get their other 34 from? Isaiah Rogers? No, no, no, no, no, no. Isaiah Rogers gave them 14. Where did they get the other 34 from? Listen, Isaiah Rogers was playing so well. I mean, he boosted the team morale. Whoa, whoa, whoa. What the hell else y 'all got with Jake? Isaiah Rogers won the game. That's all I got to say. He's all I want to talk about. I just want to talk about him because he just won the game. Last time I heard somebody say Jake so many times that I was watching training day. Jake! Jake! I will get that money. Jake!

56:12Shannon Sharpe:Oh, hey, I'm so mad. Lazo, with Lazo, Lazo, with, uh, what you call him, shot him in his butt. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, that was a, that's a classic, boy. Yeah. OJ, y 'all in trouble. No, no, we're going to be fine. We're going to be fine. I guarantee you'll be fine next week. You know what I don't like, Unk? This is the one thing I do hate. I'm going to be serious right now. is obviously the playbook, it shrinks significantly when you go from Joe Burrow to Jake Browning. Because there are things that Joe Burrow is great at. There's a reason why he's top five quarterbacks in the NFL. And you go to your backup quarterback and there's certain things that Joe can do that Jake can't.

56:56And I think it's very stressful for Zach Taylor as well because you can't call the same play that you would for Joe Burrow with Jake Browning. and it limits the play calling. And I hate that for us. I hate that for us offensively. I hate that for us as fans. And what I think Zach should do is we should throw the whole kitchen sink at Jake Browning. Just pretend like he's Joe and run the same goddamn plays, same offense. Just put it on the plate. We ain't got nothing to lose. What's that? me

57:36Shannon Sharpe:coacho you kept chat y 'all heard this man say he's not gonna make excuses and what did he do he just turned around and said two minutes of making excuses man you know the playbook shrink the playbook shrink you know that you know that I'm just giving the people that's listening I'm giving them insight to one of the reasons why we looked the way we did that's all I gave the Vikings credit I gave the Vikings credit Carson Wentz hell of a job you know I'm back to Isaiah that's why they won the game

58:17hey somebody tweet Isaiah what'd that say play like a raven now

58:25Shannon Sharpe:I wonder if I how could I get one of these

58:33hey you i i you know i don't like that i don't i don't like that what don't you like the fact that you continue to talk about the ravens that's like basically bragging about having a one-night stand hey hey you you was you was in and out now the only team that you can talk about leave me alone i ain't bother nobody but you bought something you bought something talk about Ravens like Ravens like that makes no sense you are a Bronco you're a Bronco everything anytime you talk you know with your chest out it should be about the Broncos that's it oh what's that that's to get the bagels it's your liars in what uniform I got on oh I mean I wasn't there what hey you look I'm trying to think who that is don't worry about it

59:29Shannon Sharpe:he had to smell the odor referee raised his arm that's all I know hey it's all good it is all good I don't know why you try to diminish me and the Raven time out time out time out time out why you even bringing up anything Ravens related anyway and they don't play to tomorrow

59:52Shannon Sharpe:that's me at the press conference Jordan the Ravens um I'm trying to why are you trying to deflect the Broncos got belt to ass tonight the Broncos lost um the Broncos lost to the Chargers what happened let's talk about Bo Nix let's talk about Sean Payton we talking about L Jack and Derrick Henry they don't play till tomorrow and Zay Flowers and Rashad Bateman. Oh, so you don't want to talk about your Broncos losing, huh? All I know is, I tell you what, we won't lose next week. Bet that. Oh, you said bet. How much you want to bet? Hey, Ocho, let me ask you a question. What's up? You keep on talking about Jake.

1:00:39Shannon Sharpe:Did y 'all have y 'all backup defense in too? No, that was our starting defense. What? It gave up 48? eight. Hold on. Well, they was tired because they had to keep coming on the goddamn field because we kept turning the goddamn ball over. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. So I guess Henderson... They couldn't even get no rest. We turned the ball over 37 times. What you think gonna happen?

1:01:06Shannon Sharpe:Hey. Hey, Jordan, can you give me some Vazine? I need to get this care out of my eye.

1:01:16Shannon Sharpe:somebody will put care in my eye so I don't know what you want me to do I don't know how that impacted me I'm just saying I'm not tripping the Vikings played a hell of a game today the Vikings had a hell of a plan guess who didn't play a hell of a game today your Bengals Broncos the Bengals Broncos because they got an L I guess what whether they lost by 43, 48 or 3 it's still going down as an L No matter how you try to spice it and make it sound. We'll get back in the win column next week. You won't bet none. We'll get back in the win column next week. A little temporary setback. I'm stressed out.

1:01:58Shannon Sharpe:Ojo, the Cleveland Browns defeated the Green Bay Packers by the score of 13-10 on a 55-yard walk-off field goal. Through three quarters, both teams averaged just three and a half yards per play. Things got wild in the fourth. The Browns eventually forced the first turnover of the season on the Grant Delpit interception. Shelby Harris, the former Bronco, blocked the field goal. He's good for that. In the final 25 seconds, somehow the Browns ended up scoring the game's final 13 points. Cleveland's offense was dreadful so far this season, and it remains painful to watch, averaging 3.9 yards per play, 4 of 13 on third down.

1:02:37Shannon Sharpe:Micah, after the game, says, Sometimes, like today, you just poop the bed. That's just the reality of it, Ocho. It happens to the best teams. Even the Super Bowl champs make mistakes, and they pay for it early. You go back to the history of the champions who played games like they should have won. It's just that competitive. Yeah. Yeah. Ocho? It was a great game. It was a great day of defense. If you like football and you're not going to get fireworks and you like defense to play, that's what you got today from both sides of the ball. It all will come down to the last. The team that made the fewest mistakes was winning this game.

1:03:21Yep. The team that made the fewest mistakes was winning that game. Every time I'm on the show, I always praise Cleveland defense. They're legit. Yeah, if you watch the game today against the Green Bay Packers, now you see why I always praise the Cleveland defense. and everybody else be like, ah, the Browns suck, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, they may be bad, but their identity is their defense, and they're very, very good. And the defense keep them in the game. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. So, I mean, it's a good game today, a little sloppy, defensive game, and that turnover, that turnover.

1:03:55Shannon Sharpe:All turnovers aren't created equal. When you turn the ball over, it's more important. That is the most important thing. He throws that interception in the first quarter, first half. Third quarter, we're not even having that discussion, Ocho, because Green Bay probably goes on and win the game. But when he turned that football over, you're asking for it. And you leave a team that you probably should have put away earlier. Right. You leave them around. You let them just hang around, Ocho, keep hanging around. Hey, don't keep hanging around the hive. You feed him pretty soon. You know what? He's going to feel sorry for me sooner or later.

1:04:32Shannon Sharpe:and he'll throw me a scrap or two out here. You know, he ain't going to just let me just keep coming in here and see me. Green Bay, y 'all just let him hang around and hang around and say, you know what, he's going to mess around and toss us one in the rick. Hey, I'm sure the D court is, hey, y 'all keep doing what you're doing. Keep playing. He'll give us one. He'll give us one. And lo and behold, that's what happened. And you can't play with fire. Like I said, these teams, you better go ahead and put them away. Rams, you saw that firsthand. You better go ahead and put these teams away. Yeah.

1:05:02Shannon Sharpe:Because if you don't, you're asking for trouble. And that's what happened today. Cleveland won a game. They probably should have lost. But – and Micah's right. But you guys with that offense, y 'all supposed to – they not even supposed to – I know they turned it over, but they ain't supposed to get nothing. They ain't really got – they ain't got nothing, don't you? Not offensively. Oh, no. Not offensively, no. No, they don't. They don't. They don't. But that just – listen, the Green Bay Packers have a very explosive offense. Aaron Jones is out, but obviously the receivers that they have, Jordan Love, phenomenal quarterback.

1:05:43Not in the top five conversation, but he is in that tier of the better quarterbacks in the NFL with a group of great receivers. This is a testament to just how good Brother Newsom, Brother Denzel Ward, and everybody else not only on the back end, but the front end as well. Led by Miles Garrett. Man, them boys playing some ball, and that's the only reason they're going to be in games all season long. Just not the game today against the goddamn Green Bay Packers. They have a chance every single week no matter who they're playing.

1:06:21Shannon Sharpe:Friend of the show, Rashawn Garrett, might be on his way to his first double-digit sack season. That's what he told us. He wanted to get double-digit sack. He sacked Flacco twice on Sunday, bringing his three games total, three-game total to four and a half. No doubt the presence of Michael Parsons is absolutely hell because now they're sending the double to him, and he's getting one-on-one, and he's eating. Now, eventually he'll get this eight, nine, probably with like seven, eight games to go, and now they're going to start sliding protection to him, and then Michael Parsons will start eating.

1:06:50Shannon Sharpe:That's the way it works. You want two guys that can go pin the pressure. Right now, Rashawn Gary is eating. But, Mike, hey, just keep plugging away. Your time coming. Your time coming. Van Ness, look, they got a good team. But it's games like this, you're like, well, damn. What is it about Joe? Because it's the turnover, Ocho. He always have that one. Yeah. He always have that game that he has that one turnover that you're like, bro, if you could just eliminate that. You'll be fine. Yeah, yeah. they could really be on to something, but I think we just, you know,

1:07:32Shannon Sharpe:give Cleveland credit. That defense is going to keep them in a lot of games. Now, you can't keep turning the ball over like they did against Baltimore, because Baltimore run away from you. But look, Baltimore's offense for me is a little bit more high power than Green Bay. Lamar is a different animal, even though Derrick Henry didn't run the football like he normally runs the football, but Lamar can throw it. And I was surprised, but you know, you can see the way this game was trending, Ocho. I said, you know what, Green Bay, y 'all gonna mess right around and let Cleveland hang around and they're gonna nip you at the wire.

1:08:11Shannon Sharpe:Watch what I tell you.

1:08:15Shannon Sharpe:And lo and behold, that's exactly what happened. But look, Minnesota kept pace. Minnesota is 2-1. Green Bay is 2-1. We'll see what happens with Detroit because they play Baltimore, which is not going to be no easy victory. And just like that, Pittsburgh is in the AFC North. They're what? They're 2-1. Baltimore is trying to stay pace because they didn't worry about Cincinnati. Cincinnati is going to fall like Lucifer from the heavens. never to rise again that's how you feel yep I'm feeling like that Ocho I'm sorry I wish you something I could tell you hey one thing about it I've seen the team make a fool of us all because we count certain people out don't count your chickens before they hatch now you keep talking about the Broncos and the Bengals they look bad today because they you know we lost your team look bad why you worried about my team I'm just because we play your team so we got two teams that look bad gotta play each other Monday.

1:09:2110 points. Y 'all scored 10 points. Alright. We turned the ball over 10 times. Mm-hmm. Gonna turn it over some more, too. No, we'll bet. Tell Pat Sertain, too. Make sure you bring an extra set of cleats.

1:09:37Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all already know what PS2. That man got defensive player. Make sure he bring an extra set of cleats. And Roby. Roby, last time you played, never mind. Don't worry about it. I ain't gonna talk no trash. You should. I mean, 18 to 25, 183 passing yards for Jordan Love.

1:10:01Shannon Sharpe:They had 31 rushes for 81 yards. I mean, Josh Jacobs had 16 carries for 30 yards, don't you? Yeah. Hey, listen, Derrick Henry wasn't able to really run well on that defense. Josh Jacobs wasn't going to run well on that defense. No. Nope. Joe Flacco was 21-36, 142. No touchdowns. One interception was sacked twice. Quinshawn Judkins had 94 yards. He got his first touchdown today. Yep. On 18 carats. So, but they played well. They just, hey, they hung around and hung around and hung around, and they got an opportunity to nip them at the end. I mean, you know, hey, give them credit. Give them credit.

1:10:48Shannon Sharpe:You know, they lost the first game, got blown out the second game. But like I said, those fans, those fans are going to show up. And those fans are going to cheer them on. Absolutely. Keep the energy in the building. But this was Green Bay. Y 'all, you know, you might look back. Because, Ocho, when you don't make the playoff, there's always, you always go back and play. like this game right here, we bulljogged around, had this team dead to right, and we had an opportunity to put them away, and we didn't. And so that's the frustrating part because I'm sure Cincinnati did that last year, Ocho, because, you know, lost to Washington, lost to the Patriots.

1:11:29Shannon Sharpe:Patriots, yeah. Losing to Washington, come to find out, wasn't a bad thing because they got all the way to the championship game. But losing to the Patriots, that was just downright awful. Yeah, that messed us up. And, you know, Green Bay, you might be in a situation. The NFC is going to be very competitive. You know, I think the Rams are going to be there when it's all said and done. The 49ers, you know, they got Robert Sala back on that defense. They're doing a great job. You know, they get – some of these guys are going to come back, going to get healthy. Yeah. I don't know when Brandon Ayoub is going to come back, but he's coming back.

1:12:01Shannon Sharpe:Kittle, he'll be back. Pierce Sala is playing really well. He's doing an unbelievable job. and you know Kyle's going to be able to dial it up and so obviously the Eagles are going to be right there when it's all said and done we all believe Detroit's going to be there when it's all said and done so this the NFC you're going to look back and like damn

1:12:21Shannon Sharpe:game here or there might cost you a chance of a home a home game because that's what it's you know in playoffs you really you really want that home game um but I think you got to give a lot of credit to the Cleveland Browns because that defense was sensational today. They got it. They got after Jordan Love. They made him very uncomfortable from the very first snap. And so, you know, I don't want to beat the Packers up too bad. But, hey, Cleveland, that Miles Garrett, man. And it's so funny. No matter who they plan, they do the same thing every time. We're going to rely on our front four to apply pressure.

1:13:01pin your ears back and get to the quarterback and we playing man to man in your face on the outside because i believe in our two corners out there to be able to lock you up and they play ball just

1:13:13Shannon Sharpe:like that all the quarters long they go they get after you they get after you they get after you and uh give them credit and they uh they get on the win they get in the win column um thanks to a block kick and then a 55-yard walk-off. That's saying something. 55-yard walk-off. Like I said, Ocho, these guys got legs now. It used to be, you know, hey. The Chargers beat the Broncos 23-20 after the Broncos let Lee slip away again. Why are you talking so fast? Slow down. Let the people hear what you're talking about. Let the people hear. Who lost again? The Broncos lost 23-20 after they let Lee slip away just like they did against the Colts and the Chargers and both teams walked it off.

1:13:57Shannon Sharpe:The Broncos have their next three games on the road. The Chargers now have three AFC West wins. Damn, that is right because they've beaten the Raiders, they've beaten the Chiefs, and now they've beaten the Broncos. So, hey, we got some work to do. Who is we? Broncos. Oh, you were just talking about the Ravens. I got two teams. You got two teams, the Patriots and the Bengals. No, I don't. I got the Bengals and the Dolphins, and we ain't talking about the Dolphins right now. No, you ain't playing with the Dolphins. You played with the Patriots. This is the first time that they have a two-game lead atop the AFC West at the end of 2009 when they went 13-5.

1:14:44Shannon Sharpe:The season last time the Chargers won the division crown. Hey, what's up? Y 'all 0-3? No, we won the first game. We beat the Saints. Oh, you count that? Yeah. It's the NFL team, ain't it? Oh, yeah. I mean, listen. Y 'all 1-2. Y 'all 1-2. So, you know, we 2-1. We about to be 2-2. Same record as y 'all. It sound good. About to have the same record as y 'all. 2-2. How about Nick's do today? Man.

1:15:20I'm just asking. I mean, we had our backup quarterback. so I'm just curious how your starter did

1:15:26Shannon Sharpe:well your starter don't ever stay healthy so it's hard to say why he gonna do because you know like every year he gonna miss some time who you talking about my quarterback yep your starter it was unfortunate circumstances stuff like that both 14 25 153 yards one touchdown and that's it Cortland Sutton had 6 for 118 okay court uh Herbert was uh 28 of 47 one touchdown one interception they sacked him five times I mean the one thing the Broncos can do is get after the quarterback I mean he made a great throw that throw that he made to Keenan Allen for that touchdown with Moss all over him I mean ain't nothing you can do about that Derwin James had a sack Troy Dye had a sack y 'all had two sacks Derwin James nice boy yeah oh yeah boy he nice boy he play in the box cover tight ends he can play free man he can do a little bit of everything bro that's alright I mean look the Broncos did some Hafanga has the guy picks him up off his feet.

1:16:52Shannon Sharpe:You know you can't pick the guy up and slam him. You know you can't do that. That's why y 'all lost? No, I mean we lost because we stopped them, got the ball back, and couldn't get a first down. Oh, y 'all couldn't get a first down, huh? Couldn't get a first down. Kicked the ball back. They get the ball, go down the field, and kick a walk off. So, No, no, no. That's what it is. I mean, you get a situation like that, Ocho, your defense stop them. Now, your job is to make sure their offense don't get back on the field. Your job is to make sure the offense don't get back on the field and you walk it off.

1:17:34Shannon Sharpe:Right. Or you go down there and score a touchdown and then make them go try to score a touchdown with as little time on the clock as possible to match you. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. This ain't no – Right. So basically, y 'all got BTA. Nah, nah, nah. That's what y 'all got. No. That's what the Cowboys got. No, I mean, not really. Not really. You have to understand our circumstance. We're missing our starting quarterback. Y 'all had your whole team healthy. There's a difference. There's a difference. I mean, y 'all give me. I call defects. I hope they don't trace the call back to me.

1:18:10Shannon Sharpe:People go, no, I call. I had to use my burner phone. I called D-Facts up in Minnesota. All right. All I hear is excuses, don't you? I'm talking about Minnesota. I had to call D-Facts in Minnesota because something bad was going on. Hey, it sound good. No, it did sound good. We'll see y 'all Monday night next week. I know y 'all going to see y 'all Monday night. And we're going to put foot to y 'all. All right. Okay. See how you talking? See how you talking now? I know. I'm not being disrespectful. No, no, no, no, no. You don't being disrespectful. You all being disrespectful. I'm talking about because y 'all lost to the Chargers.

1:18:51I mean, you boasted and you proud and y 'all had the same L. You worried about how many points we lost by when it's still in the L column. You lost.

1:19:02Shannon Sharpe:And we got injuries. Y 'all helped. Whoa, whoa, whoa. We didn't try to hear no excuses because that's not what you said last week. You were talking about Jake. Oh, well, we love Jake. Jake, oh, Jake, Jake will hold that thing down. He'll hold it down. He'll hold it down when we play all Monday. We good. Hold y 'all down, keep y 'all from winning. We good. We good. You'll see. I see. I saw today. 48-10. Don't worry about it. He was 48-3 at one point. I'm like, damn. Sometimes it's games like this.
