In short

The hosts react to the U.S. men’s World Cup group-stage match vs Paraguay, celebrating a 4-1 win and discussing what it means for the knockout stage. They also cover Christian Pulisic’s injury update, predict upcoming U.S. matches (Australia, then Turkey), and shift briefly into other sports topics (NBA Finals/Spurs comeback talk, plus transfer/news segments).

Guests (hosts)

Chad Ochocinco Johnson (former NFL Pro Bowler/All-Pro; “soccer extraordinaire” co-host) and Joe Johnson (former NBA player; “ISO Joe” co-host). No other guests appear in the provided transcript.

Key claims

The U.S. “didn’t play down” to Paraguay, scored early, dominated all phases (especially inside the 18), and built confidence for the next match. Florian Balogun (called “Balagoon”) had a standout brace; the hosts claim it was the first multi-goal U.S. men’s World Cup game since 1930. They argue U.S. soccer development needs earlier, soccer-focused training (academies from a young age).

Notable examples

Gio Reyna’s “travella” shot; Paraguay’s late-game fatigue and flopping; Pulisic subbed at halftime due to a calf kick/tightness; upcoming U.S. opponents Australia (Sept 19 mentioned) and Turkey.

After watching a friend grow through a loss a few weeks ago, I saw how quickly greed turned into financial stress. No one deserves that feeling I saw him feel, ever. And I mean no one. No matter what I offered to help, it wasn't enough. And I promised my family I would never make them feel the same way my buddy felt. Trust me, that experience watching a friend go through financial stress while grieving changed how I think about protecting my own family.

Please, please drink responsibly and stay safe. USA beats Praguai 4-1. You supply pressure all time. they look really really good this is as good as i've seen the u.s because i only watch them when they play the world cup i ain't been told you talk about i watch them all the time and all that stuff i ain't finna lie to you i watch it when it comes so every four years i watch the u.s being a national team but this is as good as i've seen them look at a half of football or uh ocho yes very long time um they look really really good i wish they'd have left uh pelusa again but hey they didn't but they look really really good they just overpowered Paraguay there's no way around it Ocho you know I've been not been to say look it wasn't like we beat the Brazilians or the Argentina but we beat who was on the schedule and our job is to keep get out of this group stage get to the knockout round and try to go a little further because I think we've made it to the round of 16 a couple of times Ocho I don't know how if we've gone much further than that but on home soil you know something it's something about being on home soil no matter who the team what no matter the country seemingly like they play a little harder the crowd gets behind them a little bit more and they're able to do a little more what did you think about what you saw from the u.s because like i said don't show they got off to a fast start and

8:15Joe Johnson:they didn't look back listen not only did not only did they get off to a fast start under joe i've never seen them play like this yeah the ball was moving quick they were moving quick i saw a little Jogo Benito, obviously in the beginning, something I've really never seen from the U.S. players as well, and they seized the moment. This is what it's about. In games like this, the first game, you always want to seize the moment, and they did just that. They didn't play down to the competition. They played extremely well. Yeah. They attacked very well, and there really wasn't any threat on the defense end as far as the back line.

8:47Joe Johnson:Our right back, our left backs, they attacked. They were very aggressive, and when they were attacking, players made sure to cover their positions while they were attacking because at that time we're vulnerable based on who we're playing obviously there were no threats with paragraph you know on the offensive end being it for them being able to attack in transition when we were attacking and went out of position but outside of that man we we look really really good especially in all three phases of the game inside the 18 midfield and obviously defensively played extremely well but again most people say oh you just played paragraph don't don't get too hype it doesn't matter yeah They were the first game on the schedule in the group stage, and we did what we needed to do.

9:27Joe Johnson:We didn't play down to the competition, and I was really confident. A game like today gives those players a lot of confidence going into the next game.

9:35Shannon Sharpe:Man, listen. Go ahead, Ocho. Go ahead, Joe. Hey, what's number 20 name out there, man, who was getting busy? Should have had three goals. Oh, Balagoon. Balagoon, excuse me. Balagoon, yeah. Hey, he's nice, Joe. Florian. Hey, that boy, that a real deal out there, Ocho. Yes. Yeah, he's a real deal. Hey, look, I ain't going to lie to you. I ain't going to tell no lie to you because it sounds fly to you neither. I ain't watched a whole lot of soccer, but I watched this whole entire game. Man, soccer physical? Now, man, I'm talking about, hey, you got to have some real endurance out there, bro. Hey, man, them boys out there playing, they were getting to it.

10:12Shannon Sharpe:I enjoyed that. I enjoyed that. See, I like when they score goals. I can't do that 1-0, you know what I mean? score goals or go to the penalty kick all that other stuff in between I want to see 4-3 or I want to see something decided on penalty kick

10:30Joe Johnson:hey Joe this you've got to understand Joe when you have a lopsided game like this we have a team that has a lot more quality players at different positions like he does Paraguay is not bad but they're not good they're not great either let me just say when we get to let's say the knockout stage and the team's a little bit better then you're going to see the 1-0 the 2-1's because the margin of error is so small and it's so hard to predict who's going to win because everybody

10:57Shannon Sharpe:good at that point and then that's when you start going to sudden death you get to a shootout and I think the thing is look because of the US if you think about it look at Paraguay what are they doing for they ain't got basketball football, tennis, track they ain't got a whole lot of stuff so it's centralized lives. You look at America, you got football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, tennis. You know, you got so many things. I mean, a lot, maybe some of our best athletes don't even play soccer. But when you look at a lot of these other countries, because they focus on that. I mean, if you're in Argentina, what's the likelihood you're making it to the NFL?

11:38Shannon Sharpe:Every once in a while, you get Amanu Ginobili. He makes it to the NBA. I mean, there could be. I don't know everybody that's paid in majors. I don't know if there's many Argentinian baseball players. So when you look at it, you're like, okay, what can I be really, really good at? Ta-da! Portugal. What can I be really, really good at? Ta-da! And so because some of our best athletes play other things other than soccer, it used to be, you know, it's like boxing. Our best boxers are Miles Garrett. Defensive end, tight ends. because we're so spread out. But when you look at what they did, like you said, Ocho, Paraguay is Paraguay.

12:19Shannon Sharpe:But I like the fact that we came out, dropped the helm on them early. I was like, man, y 'all hanging around at 0-0 at the half, Ocho. Then they're going to be talking about, well, what's going on with America? Nah, we're going to put foots in you, get you on up out of here early. We got to finish this second half. But y 'all, we put BTA to you today.

12:38Joe Johnson:Yeah, if we can play like this, Joe, you know, against better competition.

12:45Shannon Sharpe:When you go with the World Cup,

12:47Joe Johnson:you play like this. I don't know. They got to do it. Hey, we got to slow down a little bit now. But that's what I'm saying. You talk about play like this. But if we can play as confident as we were, everybody was confident on the ball, you know, passing the ball well. You know, in all three phases of the game, we were phenomenal, especially inside the 18. Gio Reyna with that Travella shot at the end. Oh, yeah, yeah, that was awesome. Hey, man, that was beautiful. We know.

13:12Shannon Sharpe:Oh, did Paraguay think the game was already over? Because it damn sure they look like they tried to cover.

13:17Joe Johnson:They quit playing, didn't they? Hey, once you get to that 78th minute, boy, your legs are shot.

13:23Shannon Sharpe:No, but they were at 90 plus eight. I was like, well, damn. Because they put it in, and he kicked it back out. And Brandon said, no, I'm going to get me a cheapie right here.

13:33Joe Johnson:It's hard. That's why it was hard for people to mark him once he got that ball inside the 18. Yeah, your legs shot. Your legs, dude. I can imagine.

13:39Shannon Sharpe:Hey, man, it was so impressive to watch these guys handle that ball with their feet, bro. I'm talking about, I'm going to be honest with you. Boy, you got to have some quick feet, great hand-eye coordination to play soccer. Man, you can't be out there playing.

13:57Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, the funny thing about it is I like what Unc said, too. Not that I have any pushback on what he said about our best athletes playing other sports, but if our best athletes were to even be able to compete with those across the water, we would have to start from four years old. We would have to start with the ball at our feet. Yeah, Joe, we'd have to start with the ball at our feet. When we were four years old, from a tactical standpoint and technique standpoint, you got to start when you're young. You got to start when you're young to even think about competing with those, the Spains, the Portugals, and the Germanys.

14:28Joe Johnson:They got clubs, though, Ocho. Like AAU for us, they got AAU for soccer. Oh, yeah, you start from a baby. You're in the academy, Joe.

14:37Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

14:38Joe Johnson:From day one, you start an academy, and then you work your way up.

14:42Shannon Sharpe:Damn. Go ahead, Joe. Go ahead. No, I ain't saying nothing. I'm just listening. Go ahead. Because if you think about it, Joe, you see these pictures. How old are the kids when they got bats in the hand and they're playing t-ball? That's the age they're playing soccer. Or do you see the guy got the football in his arm? Or the guy got the basketball, dribbling the basketball? We start baseball, basketball, football at the same age they start soccer. Now, some people play soccer, and it's like, ah, they kind of graduate out of it. You know, I'm sure some guys, and they get too big for it. You 250 pounds, you ain't playing no damn soccer.

15:13Shannon Sharpe:You're going to build a football field. It is just what it is. But I think the thing is, if we weren't, like, focused on that, because the guys that focus on it, they really good. Now, I'm not saying they're going to reach the national level where they're going to be, you know, this is the creme de la creme. This is the NFL. This is the MLB. This is the NBA. and obviously everybody's not going to get to that level. Right. Excuse me. But I think if guys were to like focus on it, like Ocho, you and I, we focus on making it to the NFL and football. Joe, you focus on making it to the NBA. If guys were to like, you know what?

15:49Shannon Sharpe:I want to be on the World Cup. I want to be on the U.S. men's national team, the World Cup. I think it's hard, Joe, Ocho, because your big event only really comes once every four years. Yeah. It's kind of like being an Olympian. You kind of forgotten until the Olympics roll around. Now they've kind of done some other thing now in track and field. You got the Diamond League. You got the World Cup. I mean the World Championships that come around every other year and then you skip the one odd year. But other than that, football, you know, hey, we got a Super Bowl every year, Ochoa. Yeah. We got the World Series every year.

16:20Shannon Sharpe:You get the NBA models every year. Now, if you're on that level, Ronaldo and all those others, where you got La Liga. That's another world. Yes. Yes. In America, it's hard. I mean, but Florian Balagon, two goals, three shots on target, four shots, five duels, one, 11 touches in the opponent's box. He's the first player to score a brace in the tournament. Balagon's two-goal performance is the first multi-goal World Cup game by a U.S. men's national player since 1930. Damn. And damn near 100 years.

16:55Joe Johnson:Oh, yeah. It's been a minute. It's been a minute. I don't I don't want to jump the gun, but it looks like our golden arrow. It looks like our golden arrow, especially for our players. We've come a long way and we can make a statement for American soccer if we continue to do well. And if we get to the if we get to the quarterfinals, if we get to the quarterfinals in the tournament, I'm telling you right now, get your money and get ready to bail me out of jail.

17:19Shannon Sharpe:Hey, hey, I'm running across that field, Joe. Hey, hey, all right, no, all right. Hey, hey, what they got us picked to finish at, Ocho? 20:30Joe Johnson:Maybe knockout stage? For who they got winning it? Ooh. I think France is one of the favorites. Probably France one of the favorites. Honestly, I mean, just speaking from my knowledge of the game, I would love for Portugal to win it simply because I want Cristiano to get his World Cup trophy. That's all.

20:48Shannon Sharpe:Well.

20:49Joe Johnson:I would love for Portugal to win it.

20:51Shannon Sharpe:Damn. Well, that's really the only thing that's lacking off his resume. That's it. Messi got his last. They got all them Bellendor. They got all those golden balls, the golden boots, and all this and all that. The only thing missing from Ronaldo's resume is the World Cup. He gets that. I mean, he's complete. Now, look, you're going to go back and forth. You're going to go back and forth between him and Messi.

21:14Joe Johnson:Yeah.

21:14Shannon Sharpe:You know, Pelé's like, hold on. Y 'all forgot about me? Hell, I won the World Cup in 17. What the hell y 'all talking about? He won three of them. Yes. Three times. Damn. He said, so what are we doing here? Yeah. But I think, look, half the population, they know who Pelé is, but they never saw him play. So he automatically excluded, kind of like Kareem. A lot of this younger generation, they get an opportunity to see Kareem play. So he's never mentioned Joe and Ocho as far as we talk about GOATs. When you talk about a guy, he lost one game in high school, two games in college, and he won six MVPs, six championships, and he was the all-time leading scorer and the third leading rebounder.

21:53Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And people like, oh, yes. Let people rank him. They rank him probably top, maybe 15th. I don't know how you get a situation where he's not top five, but that's neither here nor there. But I was very impressed with him. Like I said, my limited knowledge of soccer and watching World Cups, this is as good as I've seen the U.S. I've seen the men's team play. Now, the women is a different ball game. Different ball game. They're different. There's levels. Yeah. Because we go into the World Cup. We go into the World Cup. We go into the Olympics. We expect not women to win. Yeah. They don't win.

22:31Shannon Sharpe:They don't get the gold in the Olympics or the World Cup. We're like, whoa, whoa, what happened? We need to rethink this. And my guy, Ha Ha, said, hey, we need to regroup. Let's regroup right quick, big fella. I mean, the women ever since in 99, when Brandon Chastain kicked that goal and started swinging that thing around, You saw it before. Hey, it was over. Yeah, it was over when you got me a ham and Julie Fowdy and Chastain and Brianna Scurry. Hey, it was over.

23:01Joe Johnson:Hey, you know, you know what to uncle Joe? We got the World Cup. I think so July 20th. I think that might be the end. Joe, you think the 19th might be the final game. Yeah, hey, like 19th. Yes, it's a lot of games in Atlanta. And I'm sure you know people down there at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. If you could even if you don't even if you don't understand the game, even if you don't know what you're watching, based on what you saw tonight. If you look at the schedule and see some of the teams that are going to play, and you want to see the difference in quality and skill based on what you saw tonight, go to one of the games at that stadium and watch that atmosphere.

23:36Joe Johnson:So you can understand that on the experience and what it's like to be at one of those games at the highest level. You're going to have such an appreciation for the sport and the craft in general. You'll be like, yeah, I got to make this part of something that I do every so often.

23:50Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I'm going to have to go check it out. And if I'm not mistaken, Joey Nocho, I think Mr. Blank says he's going to keep the prices for concession the exact same. Yes. So he's not going to try to price gouge because you get that a lot when a big event comes along. What do they do? Hotel prices? Everything go up. Everything goes up. Memorabilia and things like that. The prices goes up. But if I'm not mistaken, I think I read where he says he's going to keep the prices. is like this is not an opportunity to try to price out somebody and take advantage of people. Because, like, once you get to the stadium, what are you going to do?

24:27Shannon Sharpe:So if they charge you$30, what are you going to do? Pay it. Exactly. That's how they get you on the cruise. Yeah. Hey, where are you going to get water from? Where are you going to get soda from? Where are you going to get food from? Man, I ain't paying any high-ass prices. Okay. Good luck. You're on here for two weeks, though. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But look, looking at them, if you just look at the stats, the U.S. just dominated it. Dominated. They just dominated. And that's what you have. Ocho, I think in a game like this, we've seen this before, where you play down to the competition, and you might win the game, but then people will have questions about you.

25:04Joe Johnson:Yes.

25:06Shannon Sharpe:The U.S. ain't wasting no time. It's like, look here, we're not playing with y 'all tonight.

25:10Joe Johnson:At all. Foots on neck from the beginning.

25:13Shannon Sharpe:Good.

25:13Joe Johnson:And now the conversation will be, well, okay, you didn't play down to the competition. Now people are going to move the goalpost and say, well, you was only playing Paraguay. That would be the next thing they say. So they're going to say, wait until you play somebody better, a team of better quality. That's it.

25:31Shannon Sharpe:But you know what? My grandfather used to tell my brother now, he says, I'm not going to give you an excuse because you might use it. Yeah. Yeah. I don't want to hear that. All I know is that Paraguay, they made the World Cup. Somebody had to play them. And they in our group. Hey, the old saying, Joe, somebody got to take the ugly girl to the dance. Yeah. She want to dance. Somebody got to take her. All the pretty girls, hey, they already gone. Yeah. 15, 20 pretty girls in your high school compared to, I don't know how big your high school. Maybe you got 5 ,000. Yeah. I don't know. but everybody ain't taking one okay i'm just saying damn hey man they do a lot of hey they do a lot of flopping out there too i thought yeah i bet i thought i thought i thought about five or

26:23Joe Johnson:six shades out there oh my bad my bad i said that out loud oh yeah hey and oh you know some some of that too joe is some of the flopping it gives players a chance to rest too that's why they should a little bit you know sometimes it's flopping sometimes you know it's i call it somewhat of a a tactical reset. Okay. A chance to rest and breathe. Try to find a way to...

26:45Shannon Sharpe:Man, that dude from Paraguay, the dude from America didn't even trip him. He waited. He lost the ball out of bounds. Oh, matter of fact,

26:53Joe Johnson:hey, Joe, you know who that is, Joe? What is that? That's... Now, he's good. He might be their best player. Matter of fact, he... Mauricio? Al Moran. That's who did the flop. He played by Atlanta United. Oh, okay. Oh, did he? Yeah, he was at Atlanta United, and then he went to Newcastle. He nice, man. He's a speed merchant. He's fast as hell.

27:12Shannon Sharpe:Oh, boy. Hey, they feel their best player. They finessing the game out there, boy. Yeah. I'm like, man, come on, bro. Now, I understand that sometimes when you bang knees, that hurt. I mean, we've all banged knees before. And, boy, you're like, man, I don't know if I'm going to be able to play no more. My kneecap feel like it's broke, like it's split, man. And we've all been leg whipped. Yeah. Yeah. and you know I don't they got I mean I don't really see uh do a whole lot of them play with shin guards anymore Ocho you got to you can't go out there without them okay yeah you can't and I see like I'm like well damn I saw some of those I can understand you know some of them I'd like you running and you try to kick and he kick at the same time and we kick each other you damn right that's gonna hurt that hurt but sometimes Ocho I'm like oh man I don't know how you gonna live after this one cuz yeah hey I'm excited for that next game we got us we

28:10Joe Johnson:got Australia next we got Australia next on the 19th and after Australia we got Turkey and these are all winnable games especially yeah yeah we should beat our

28:18Shannon Sharpe:a yeah yeah yeah yeah we should definitely get like we played tonight yes man oh yeah I'm gonna know now cylinders tonight they weren't playing absolutely we definitely we we definitely should be our look unless is one of these powerhouses of France, Portugal, Argentina, the Brazilians, somebody like that.

28:39Joe Johnson:We won't see them to the round of 16. We got to get out of the hoop stage and we got to get out of the knockout stage.

28:45Shannon Sharpe:I like the fact that we got four goals. So if it come down to a goal against, a goal score, we looking real good, Ocho. We looking real good. One more thing. I see Unc with his nice old train shirt on. Ocho got his nice denim. The hippies tripping America. But damn, where y 'all Team USA stuff at, man? I thought y 'all didn't get the memo. Hold on. I had mine on last week when I was at the friendly, Joe. And we played today.

29:11Joe Johnson:We just got done playing, man. Y 'all ain't in the spirit.

29:14Shannon Sharpe:I thought y 'all go.

29:16Joe Johnson:Joe, come on, Joe. I just had it on last week at the friendly. I came with my same jersey again. Hell, you wear them damn leopard pants every night. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

29:32Shannon Sharpe:Oh, there we go.

29:37Shannon Sharpe:Hey, if I'd known I'd have brought my boo boo sailor. Yeah. Oh, hey, where's that? Where's that, Joe?

29:44Joe Johnson:Huh? Hey Joe, you got it. You know, our chant, our chant, I believe that we will win. I believe that we will win. That's the USA chant. Is it? I don't like it though. They need a new one though, man.

29:57Shannon Sharpe:Oh man, we got to get it together, man, on nightcap, man. All right, we get it together. We get it together. I'll find something. I'll find something. Yeah, I need you and Ocho to get right, man. I'll get it. We're going to find something. Joe! I know. I know. I know. I know you like to be flying and all that. No, no, no. Hey, Joe.

30:15Joe Johnson:Ocho, now you see it? Hey, Joe, I wear a soccer jersey on every show.

30:19Shannon Sharpe:Well, today you should have wore a USA soccer jersey. Yo, I'm not home. You should have had a USA t-shirt. You got a bunch of nice t-shirts, Shaylin hooking you up. I got a bunch of t-shirts.

30:29Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe, I'm in New York. Joe, I done traveled with all my kids. You know, all my jerseys at home.

30:34Shannon Sharpe:Man, you can find that in the airport. You can find a FIBA shirt in the damn airport. My bad, Joe. I like where I'm on. Now, this man, now all of a sudden, now he all thanks you as men's national team.

30:44Joe Johnson:Come on, man. Hey, you see him? Hey, Joe, you acting Brent.

30:48Shannon Sharpe:Who are you? I'm with Team USA, baby. He the guy the first time he go, and now he want his face painted. He want a jersey. He want all that stuff. I said, but damn. Yeah, hey, hey, I want the whole shebang. I want the whole experience. Yeah. Hey, he talking about me, how I go to the park, and I got on George. I got on 23 jersey. I got on the shorts. I got on everything. I came out here with the track suit on the full track suit and everything. Yeah, man, come on, I'm locked in. Y 'all playing, man. We be right next time USA play. We have it right. We definitely have it right. I got you. But USA, congratulations, man.

31:34Shannon Sharpe:Hey, the stadium was rocking. I mean, I saw Gates, I saw Derwin James, I think Kareem. Tom Cruise. Yeah, Tom Cruise, sir, David Beckham. What'd they say? They say it was like 107 ,000 in attendance, something like that? Ooh, Lord, have mercy. I don't know how many they see. They was in LA. Yeah, they was at SoFi. But you know, you can't mention there are no brands. So you just say Los Angeles Stadium. So all these stadiums, it ain't going to be no Mercedes-Benz, though. It ain't going to be no MetLife. It ain't going to be no this or that. It's going to be just stadium. Yeah.

32:15Shannon Sharpe:But no, this was very impressive. I'm excited. I'm excited. Come on, America. Come on. Yeah. Man, you imagine. Man, I guess like when your country, I mean, you know, you see how like when Argentina won and you see the parade when Messi and them goes back. Yeah. You see when France has won and you see these other countries. I remember the first World Cup I can remember was Diego Maradona and, you know, the hand of God. His hand hit that ball. I don't care what y 'all say. I don't care what y 'all say. hit that damn ball. But anyway, and to see the celebration. But that's really, I mean, if you go back and look, look at when Lesilo Tomojo, when he won the 200, the heroes welcome that he got when he went back to Botswana.

33:02Shannon Sharpe:And you look at when these track and field athletes, they use small countries. They're kings. They're gods. It's everything. Hold on.

33:11Joe Johnson:You know who's going to be able to experience exactly what you just explained?

33:14Shannon Sharpe:Who is that?

33:15Joe Johnson:The Knicks. hey tomorrow listen Joe I don't mean to be switching gears I know we talking soccer but everything Unk just explained and expressed is exactly what the Knicks fans and the people that live in New York are going to experience tomorrow and I'm going to be here to experience it too

33:30Shannon Sharpe:it ain't going to be tomorrow Ocho but here's the thing the difference Ocho the Knicks is a regional I mean they have some fans outside of that but just think about if the whole country was pulling for the Knicks yeah I got you the whole country be pulling for Frank Just like the whole country is pulling for the USA. And now we best ride and win. Lord, have mercy. Hey, I might be out there like Knicks fans. That's what I'm talking about. Yeah. Yeah, tan something up. Turn some cars on. Yeah, I might be out there like Knicks fans, man. Yeah, yeah. I'm a purity, a purity fool.

34:05Joe Johnson:I tell you one thing. Before we start NICAT tomorrow, I'm going to make sure I take a video of me, you know, jumping up on top of a police car because I'm telling you how it's going to go tomorrow night. Now, y 'all ain't listening to me all playoff series long. Well, listen. I'm telling you again. The Knicks are going to San Antonio, and they're going to win the game tomorrow.

34:23Shannon Sharpe:I'll tell you what. You jump on a car tomorrow, they can't get your ass out of jail until Monday. So you jump on a car tomorrow. No, that didn't happen.

34:31Joe Johnson:I know the mayor. I'm good.

34:33Shannon Sharpe:I know the mayor. We like this. All right. All right, Joe, we got an update on Pulisic. Pulisic says he was kicked in his calf, and it started to feel tight, and they didn't want to take any unnecessary risk. So he was subbed as a precautionary. To my tour the end right there? No, he was subbed at the half. At the half? Oh, at the half. Yeah.

34:55Joe Johnson:Well, listen, he got seven days. He got seven days to get right. Yeah, well, he got seven days to get right.

35:02Shannon Sharpe:And you know, they got the best doctors, the best PTs, the best physios. They got the best of everything. So there's no reason why he shouldn't be up to full strength and ready to go. Man. Do you think we got enough depth, Ocho?

35:19Joe Johnson:Yeah. We have enough depth, but obviously Christian Pulisic is our best player, one of the best. Absolutely. With both feet, him being able to take people on 1v1, 1v2. so he is probably our best creator. Obviously, he's our wonder boy for a reason. So, you know, not having him, we still have enough depth, just not someone like him. We do have others that are of good quality, but he would be our best player regardless.

35:45Shannon Sharpe:Chris Richards coming off an injury, and he was being impacted. What, he, Richards, Ocho. Yes.

35:52Joe Johnson:Yeah, I think if I'm not mistaken, Chris, what does Chris play? Chris plays in the Premier League too. I don't know why it slipped my mind we have McKinney plays at Juventus wait hold on I don't want to get it wrong yeah he's a defender

36:09Shannon Sharpe:but you think he played

36:11Joe Johnson:huh is Astaire with you he's in the Premier League yeah he played at Crystal Palace I don't know why it slipped my mind and as Astaire Wesley McKinney is at Juventus right

36:24Shannon Sharpe:McKinney is at Juventus

36:32Shannon Sharpe:he's looking it up the usa will play australia on friday yeah let's go i believe that we will win i believe i believe that we will win you know if this was a rugby or something yes oh yeah he's right yes yeah yeah yeah yeah Yeah. Yeah.

36:57Joe Johnson:And that's the highest level too now, that's the, we get to about, you know, Chris Richards played in the Premier League.

37:04Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

37:06Joe Johnson:So it's a few players from the States that have been able to cross over and make those teams. You know how hard it is for us to come from the state and make it on the team over there?

37:16Shannon Sharpe:If you make it over there, cause they don't really mess with us anyway. You really, really good. You got to be good. You like that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

37:27Shannon Sharpe:Early today, someone put$1.8 million on United States to lose their match to Paraguay tonight. That payout would have been$3.5 million,$7 ,148. In other words, he just gave the casino$1.8 million. Who the hell?

37:43Joe Johnson:Hey, he should have known better than that. Whoever that was, that was his dumb bet. That was his dumb bet. Probably thinking the USA is going to look like they did maybe in the friendlies because you watch them playing some of the friendlies, it raised questions. It raised our because we didn't look good, Joe. In the friendlies we played, not just last week in Germany because we looked decent but just before that, you know, when it was time to qualify to even play in the World Cup, we just didn't look good. We didn't. We didn't look nothing like we looked at night, I can tell you that.

38:11Shannon Sharpe:But hold on, hold on. We couldn't have looked that bad for that man to put one point or something?

38:16Joe Johnson:It looked bad, Joe. I'm just being honest. We look bad. We look bad. Copenhagen's Spit Free packs American-grown tobacco into pouches. 41:24Shannon Sharpe:England's national team van containing match cleats and training equipment was stolen while in transit from Florida to Kansas City. The FAA liaison with the police in an attempt to recover the missing items. Ocho if training equipment cleats how much will it impact I guess they're going to have to go to they're the big dick sporting goods going to get bought out of all their cleats wait who's stuff got stolen?

41:51Joe Johnson:England's national team they're going to be able to get that back anyway as soon as they find that it's stolen if they're not able to recover it they'll be able to get whatever they need especially players players that are with Puma players that are with Adidas or with Nike they're going to be able to replenish that like this

42:07Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but you don't want to have to go through none of that, man.

42:09Joe Johnson:I mean, it's somewhat of an inconvenience. It's somewhat of an inconvenience, obviously, but because those entities that the players are sponsored by are so big, they had that stuff there the next day. Quick.

42:25Shannon Sharpe:Whatever.

42:30Shannon Sharpe:How do they let that happen anyway? Which, man, look here. The same way they be letting – hold on. What did they steal? Somebody stole, hold on, what did they steal? Kit Kats. Did y 'all see somebody stole all them Kit Kat bars? What was that? For real? Yeah, man, somebody stole like, how many of you looking at them, Ash? They stole like 140 ,000 pounds of Kit Kat. Damn. Who ordered the Kit Kats? It wasn't even Easter. A Halloween? Wow. A sucker of over 410 ,000 special edition Formula 1 car shaped Kit Kat bars. Yeah. 410 ,000 Formula 1 shaped Kit Kat bars. What are they going to do with it? There's nothing they can do with it.

43:26Shannon Sharpe:Eat them.

43:30Shannon Sharpe:They're going to have cavities out the roof. Yeah. See, they were limited edition Ocho and they were molded like the cars. You heard the first part, Ocho? Yeah. Limited edition. Okay, okay, okay. Renato Silva to Real Madrid. Here we go. An agreement is in place and contract approved. Two-year deal plus a one-year option. Fast deal by Madrid. Started 36 hours ago and closed immediately. Ocho, explain to the chat how huge this is.

43:58Joe Johnson:I mean, it's cool. It's huge. I just don't understand why he would leave Man City. He just left Man City, which is in the Premier League, obviously. Very, very good club. You know, big club. And he's solid. Great, great, great center midfielder. Joe's similar like the point guard, Joe.

44:13Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

44:14Joe Johnson:He creates. He controls the pace of the game, you know. He's a facilitator, if you might say. Okay. So him going to Real Madrid is the big thing. I mean, obviously growing up for players, everybody wants to play for the big club in the world. That would be Real Madrid. so it's a good thing for him I just don't understand if he's good enough to play for Real Madrid why would they let him go at Man City obviously you have young and upcoming talent that ingests as good as you or equivalent to what you can do so I kind of get it but I mean it's a dope thing you know a dope thing for him Real Madrid is the cream of the crop you know that's players dream of playing Real Madrid

44:56Shannon Sharpe:Real Madrid Barcelona

45:00Joe Johnson:yeah uh psg mm-hmm madrid is like the the the arsenal all those yeah i like it it's dope it's dope it's dope hey hey you remember that stole tom brady jerry

45:19Shannon Sharpe:did the super bowl yeah but didn't you remember that oh cho didn't get it yeah they got it back nobody can even get in the locker room so I can't imagine that man had a ticket that man had the thing they got online there was like saying they were gonna buy it that man had that jersey was down in Mexico yeah huh the jersey that he beat the Falcons in right how does somebody even get in the locker room to even get a whole other thing what was it what was it like was he posted as a reporter or something. Yes. And he put in the bag and got on the other hand. Tom Brady was looking around and said, man, you seen my jersey?

45:54Shannon Sharpe:Old boy had that thing gone.

45:58Joe Johnson:Hey, that's funny. Gone. It's not funny, but it's funny.

46:02Shannon Sharpe:Bro, they stole Michael's jersey? Yeah. Yeah, remember they stole Shadour's stuff some of the CU players when they played UCLA. Yeah. Oh, in the last one. Yeah. Hey, you said it right. They stole one of Jordan's jerseys. He had to wear like number 12 or something. 12, yeah. Yes. Hey, they stole Carl Mecklenburg's jersey. Man, they had to write Mecklenburg and Sharpie on the back of the man's jersey.

46:36Shannon Sharpe:Oh, man. Oh, no, he was a legit reporter. but he had stolen so much stuff because he had access so he just get in there and just be they found so much stuff yeah oh yeah oh yeah can you imagine what that jersey would have been worth ooh you think he got fired they probably put his ass in jail right that's what that's what he probably did

47:07Joe Johnson:that's crazy damn

47:11Shannon Sharpe:alrighty Victor Wimby Yama Thomas says his confidence isn't shaken after being down 3-1 to the Knicks. Let's take a listen to what Wimby had to say. I know you take one game at a time, but I would imagine in order to attack that game the way you need to, your group needs to believe that they can still do this. The other night you said that the loss would either divide you or bring you together. Two days later, do you have a better sense of whether or not the group actually thinks they can pull this off? Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, everybody thinks, everybody knows we're going to do it. but I don't know if I agree with you.

47:45Shannon Sharpe:I feel like we need to isolate that one game and take it one game at a time. I think it'd be a mistake to waste our energy on multiple games. It's one game at a time.

48:01Shannon Sharpe:The problem is, Ocho and Joe, if you think about it, think about that game five, what transpired when the Cavaliers came back on Golden State? Kyrie went for 41 LeBron went for 41 both of those guys shot over 50 % from the floor in getting those 41 LeBron had 41 and I think 16 rebounds and then he followed that 41 performance up with another 41 performance and 13-14 assists and Kyrie chipped there with another 27 maybe even high 20s or low 30s so the question is do the Spurs have two guys that can go crazy like that Yes, they do. Okay. Okay, Ocho. Yes, sir. I love the confidence that Wimby Yama portrays, the poise and patience that he plays with.

48:51Shannon Sharpe:And I really, really believe that the Spurs really feel that they're the better team. Obviously, you know, they're down 3-1. But I think they understand that they've squandered away a few games in this series. And they really, I think they really believe they can come back and win this series, bro. So I'm with Wimby in the month. I think Wimby is going to play great. I love what Castle's been doing. I think he's going to be great. Hopefully Fox comes along for the ride because they're going to need him. And you hope Vassell and Champinney can chip in and play solid. They ain't got to be great, play solid.

49:27Shannon Sharpe:Because I think their defense is really, honestly, is what's gotten them in the league early in all these games. I mean, hell, they've led by double figures in every game now. Every game. Every game. So they're a great first quarter team, which gets them off to a great start. And I think that's always a plus. They just got to find a way, bro. Take it one game at a time and be able to close. If they could do that, I'm with the Spurs. I think they could come back. I know, man, you delusioned it. I think they can do it, bro. Well, you got to be a little delusional. Go ahead, Ojo.

49:57Joe Johnson:That's a tough task. It's a tall task, especially now being down 3-1. Joe, I understand what you're saying, but you look at some of the mistakes being that the Spurs are a young team and you're getting mistakes from your veteran. Now, you know, Castle, Purcell, you know, Wimby, we see some of the mistakes that they've made, you understand it, but they're in Fox. He has no excuse. He's a seven, eight-year vet, I think, if I'm not mistaken. And he has to know. He has to know in certain situations how to hold a ball. You know, if you're the point guard, you got to be the one who has to be the head coach, the extension of the head coach when you're out there on the court.

50:28Joe Johnson:So him making some of the mistakes that he made on top of some of the ones that the young players have made, Well, hell you you you you you losing in general there and if they were playing Smart basketball this series look completely different.

50:41Shannon Sharpe:It would look completely different, but they're not a smart team Because Joe we've been talking about this. Yeah. Yeah, you Joe. Do you remember we won a game? I say Joe I said hey they played well, but they still took some quick. I said Joe. I saw some threes going over 18 seconds Yeah, yeah, are we sure dear Fox you remember the Aaron Fox? they up by three and De 'Aaron Fox filed a guy in Sacramento Joe he filed a guy on a three point shot the guy hit the shot and made the free throw and they lose the game and when Mike Brown said something what did they do to Mike Brown the next day you got him about it so are we sure are we sure De 'Aaron Fox is having a high basketball IQ we know he's a phenomenal player he's a two time all star there's no denying that but there are two things can be true because I've seen guys that are really really good at a particular thing but don't understand the can't play the game within the game.

51:32Shannon Sharpe:Don't understand situations. Give me someone that understands situations. Right. Right.

51:39Joe Johnson:Hey, Uncle Joe, there are very few players like that, right? How many times are you going to get a LeBron? Someone that can facilitate. That's someone that can control the game. Someone that understands the time and understands moments and situations. When to go. When not to. When to pause. I mean, you know, That that that stuff is difficult especially when it comes to the big in big moments Yeah, that's not when you haven't been in those moments often

52:05Shannon Sharpe:So it's a little bit That's what situation when you get a Harrison bars now This is your role now because you're not gonna play this is where you get on the silence the guys What are we doing? Why are we taking three-point shots? Yeah with 18 seconds 19 seconds on the shot clock? Why are we continuously shooting threes that were going in in the first half? They're not going in now, but you see the mistake that people make what do they say? Ocho Joe, shoot or shoot. Shoot or shoot. You're about to shoot yourself out the damn series. That's what you're about to do. Playing dumb basketball. Dumb basketball.

52:38Shannon Sharpe:Dumb players play dumb basketball, get coaches fired. Get you beat. It's a lose-lose. You're playing just good enough to get yourself cut and get me fired. That's lose-lose. And I'm watching them. I don't watch the first. I watch them a little bit during the regular season of Joe and Ocho. Just check out mainly check out women i like castle yeah at uconn but i've watched them enough this is how they play yeah they hey i i'm sure or i hope miss johnson has set them down man and they watch their film bro and and hopefully if they get into these situations again when it's late game you know the results will be a lot different i don't know what i don't know what Fox is thinking, Ocho.

53:23Shannon Sharpe:I can't tell you that. He was trying to be the hero. Listen, I think he's a hell of a player. I don't know why, because I watched that play over and over. Hell, he didn't really have no step on OG. He didn't! Did you see him slow down? He had to slow down, didn't he? He didn't have a choice but to slow down. Yeah, he had no choice. And OG was right on his heels. It ain't like OG was three, four steps behind. That man was right there. He was in his hip pocket, Joe. Yeah. So Joe I give you a similar situation the same situation happened with true holiday at Milwaukee and Phoenix. What did he do?

54:00Shannon Sharpe:Holiday had the same situation up by one. What did he do? Try to get and they ended up having a filing. Yeah

54:09Joe Johnson:Hey, you think about this to Joe uncle Joe and I know I don't know the game like y 'all, you know I know I've been I've been guessing a lot in the any playoff series, but think about the situation you down 3-1, right?

54:20Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

54:21Joe Johnson:We've seen one player, if I'm not mistaken. Now, correct me if I'm wrong because my knowledge ain't like yours. We've seen one player come back down 3-1. Yeah.

54:27Shannon Sharpe:In the finals.

54:28Joe Johnson:Name of LeBron James, if I'm not mistaken. Yes.

54:30Shannon Sharpe:It's happening. It's happening in the postseason, but it's only happened in the finals once. And who did that? LeBron. LeBron. And the Cavs.

54:38Joe Johnson:Please tell me the player that has the IQ and the witherthal that LeBron has to be able to do what they did that plays for the Spurs right now. None of them.

54:47Shannon Sharpe:Listen, do they have a LeBron? I don't know, but they have a collective group of guys, bro, who can get the job done. It's just hard for me to believe that the Knicks just going to come in there and pop them in game five, and it's going to be over with. I don't see that, bro. I think they're going to get, obviously, a desperate and well-determined Spurs team who's looking to extend this series and go back to New York for game six. You're going to take it one game at a time, man. Yes. I think the Spurs team is so young and naive that they really believe that they can come back and win this series.

55:22Joe Johnson:Hey, Uncle Joe, I understand. Go ahead, don't you? Uncle, I'm going to let you go real quick, Joe. But understand how the basketball gods work, Joe. Understand how momentum works, Joe. Just as much as you guys want it to happen, I just don't see it happening. I just don't. The Knicks players don't want it to happen. Mike Brown don't want it to happen. The city of New York understands that it probably won't happen. We want to finish the series now. We don't want to give them a chance to come back. We don't want to. So we need to finish the job. We need to finish the job. Like Jalen Brunson says, every time he talks, the job's not done.

55:53Joe Johnson:We want to finish the job in San Antonio so we don't have to worry about them coming back home and having to deal with, oh, my goodness, they came back and they get a game here at home. Now we got a game seven deciding factor. We don't want to deal with that. Let's finish the job right now and get this series out of the way.

56:11Shannon Sharpe:You see, the problem that you have, Joe, when you guys are naive, they're naive to the point they're not supposed to lose, but they're also naive to the fact that the plays that they're making will cause you to lose. You see, it balances out. Man, they don't know they're supposed to lose. Well, they also don't know they're supposed to take the clock down too because you're up. Just think, Joe, if you take the ball and I hold it for 24 seconds, five times in a row there's a greater chance I win the ball game than doing what they did. You probably will win. No shots. Yeah. Just running the clock just think about it.

56:56Shannon Sharpe:That's all I'm saying. Hey, phenomenal players but they don't think they don't understand situations. You have to think the game is played within the game. Yes, it's about at the end of the day Ocho Joe I need to have more points than my opponent. Yes. But how do I get that? Listen. In order for you to come back for 29 points down, do you realize how dumb the opposing team that lets you come back, do you realize how dumb they have to be? Hey, you're right, Unc. They got to be real dumb, but the fatigue made them be dumb, bro. I just think with you being up 29 points and you still not giving those guys rest, Hell, they playing them in the whole second half.

57:39Shannon Sharpe:They ran out of gas. You can see it, bro. Like, I watched it over and over. I'm like, listen, it wasn't like they played just a terrible game. Obviously, you know, the end of that third and that fourth quarter was bad. But for the most part, man, you still got to have some hope if you disperse looking at how you played. But, Joe, let me ask you a question. So when they came out right out of the half and was launching those threes, were they fatigued then? No, no. Because you remember they took eight threes in a row. You remember they got the rebound three times in a row and kicked it to Wimby.

58:15Shannon Sharpe:Tell the people in the chat because they didn't see the game, Joe. They TV had blacked out. Tell the people at home what Wimby did. He took three threes. I'm going to tell you, he took them three threes at Ocho. I don't think he had no gas in the tank to even try to get to the basket. That's why he was selling for them knockout blows. He ain't had no legs.

58:34Joe Johnson:But I got a question, too. I got another question for you, Uncle Joe. Yes. It's like this. We in game five. We talk about how the Spurs have been playing. How have the Spurs played all season long? That's what they're playing. How are we expecting them to change the way they play in the goddamn finals? You are who you are at this point.

58:52Shannon Sharpe:You're right. Because a lot of times, you get down by 29. Yeah, there's no – You get down by 29, Joe. Hey, I'm on to the next night. I'm on to Orlando. I ain't worried about Miami. I'm on to Orlando. I'm worried about the Hawks. Mike Brown, he ain't know what to do. He threw scohan in the hair. He ain't played since he got the damn New York. He gonna get a ring regardless. He throwing people out there. Listen, he was throwing out anything out there that's stuck. You know what I mean? And then you play Jalen Brunson and Alvarado together. And now they able to kind of get some juices flowing, get something going, make some shots.

59:30Shannon Sharpe:getting to the teeth of the defense drawing and kicking making shots now so things started to get a little different but i i still a the spurs can do this man one game at a time and i'm not i'm not saying that they can't do it right i'm saying they won't be able to do it if they continue to play like that and i don't know how you change midstream you can't not listen if it was mid

59:53Joe Johnson:season i understand we can go back to the drawing board huh we can go to the drawing board listen This is what we need to do. You are who you are at this point this far into the season. So the mistakes that they're making, thinking that, oh, all of a sudden, now we get to game five, we're going to eliminate all those. We can try to minimize them. We can try to minimize them because you know what's going to end up happening? Is you're going to have people out there thinking instead of playing freely.

1:00:16Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:00:17Joe Johnson:They're going to make mistakes. They're still going to make mistakes. The mistakes might even be worse now because you're trying to make sure you don't make none instead of just playing basketball.

1:00:24Shannon Sharpe:And the problem is, Joe, we've seen the mistakes late in the ball game. damn near every game they played yeah when first of all daren fox knows when we would like when you get to pick when you get to pick to wimby wimby don't roll yeah when he's up high he don't roll he spot up go back and watch him when he when he passed the ball to winby on the last play of game two what did we did winby follow him or will be spotted up joe now he took he took the jump shot he came for the jump shot so now all of a sudden he expect he he set it at the top of the key, and now he going to pass the ball like Wimby going to roll to the basket.

1:01:01Shannon Sharpe:When Wimby don't roll to the basket. Not from that spot. Now, if you get it lower, yeah, he'll roll to the basket and get a dunk. But when he's out there like he's at the three-point line, Wimby don't come in. He wants you to throw it to him at the three-point line, and he going to shoot it. And it's late in the game, too. Late in the game, he trying to get that jump shot. Early in the game, y 'all watch the difference in the way Wimby moves early in the game in the first quarter compared to the fourth. In the first quarter, he rolling, getting to the rim. He trying to get the easiest bucket he could possibly get.

1:01:33Shannon Sharpe:But in the fourth quarter, everything changes, bro. I'm telling you, Joe, he's expending too much energy. Yeah. He's a marathon runner, and he's going out running four-minute miles the first four miles. He cooked. Joe, he's got to have these months. They're going to have to get his breathing under control because he's going so hard. Yeah. And what's happening, he's going anaerobic. And if anybody that rides bike for a living, anybody that's ridden a bike has ever gone anaerobic, once you go anaerobic, it's goodnight, Irene. Yeah, yeah. If you follow the Tour de France, they talk about a rider has cracked.

1:02:14Shannon Sharpe:Well, what Wimby is doing, he's going out so hard. He's expending so much energy. Yeah.

1:02:23Joe Johnson:Now he's just trying to hold on.

1:02:25Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.

1:02:25Joe Johnson:Hey, Uncle Joe, you know what else we get to see tomorrow?

1:02:28Shannon Sharpe:What's that?

1:02:29Joe Johnson:We get to see how strong Darion Fox is mentally. We get to see how strong he is mentally. Are you going to come out and still be your aggressive self, but are you going to allow the noise to bother you? All the talking heads, all the pundits, all the ailments that are saying how bad you're playing. I'm sure even if he doesn't hear the noise, it's going to affect him. He heard the noise. And we're going to find out tomorrow. And I guarantee he'd come out and he'd be gun shy.

1:02:58Shannon Sharpe:Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.

1:02:59Joe Johnson:I guarantee he'd be gun shy tomorrow.

1:03:03Shannon Sharpe:He ain't gonna want to shut up. Did you hear him, Joe? What is that? I don't hear that stuff. It's not like these people have my phone number and I don't really pay that stuff attention. That's a lie. Yeah, you hear. You hear. I hear. Okay, okay, okay, okay, Joe. You can't help it nowadays.
