Guests (on the show)
Trick Williams (WWE Superstar; joins later). Main hosts: Chad Ocho Sico Johnson and Joe Johnson (former pro/basketball figure; “Uncle Ocho” on mic).
Guest backgrounds
Trick Williams is a WWE performer (“WWE Superstar Trick Williams”). AZ Fudd is mentioned as a WNBA top draft pick and podcaster, but she is not the guest in this episode.
Key claims
- Spurs’ win is driven by relentless defense and “runs,” with Wembanyama as an offensive/defensive anchor.
- Magic’s win is attributed to Orlando being healthier and Paolo Banchero’s bounce-back after earlier struggles.
- Thunder’s rout is framed as Phoenix’s turnovers and bad shot selection, plus SGA’s foul-drawing.
Notable examples
- Spurs 111-98 over Trail Blazers; Wembanyama 35 points (13/21 FG, 5/6 threes, 5/6 FT), 5 rebounds, 2 blocks.
- Magic 112-101 over Pistons; Banchero 23 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists; Pistons’ home playoff losing streak at 11 straight since 2008.
- Thunder 119-84 over Suns; SGA 25 points; Suns’ poor shooting and turnovers.

Y 'all know him. Hey, trick, trick, trick. Whip that trick. Trick Williams joins us a little bit later, but first, the San Antonio Spurs beat the Portland Trailblazers by the score of 111-98. Victor Wimanyama had 35 points. He had 21 of those in the first half. 35 points on 13 of 21 shooting, 5 of 6 from the 3, 4 of 5 from the free throw line, 5 rebounds, and he had 2 blocks. That third quarter, Vassell and Champagne started playing outstanding defense, turned the Portland Trailblazers over, and they got a victory by 13 over the Portland Trailblazers, the San Antonio Spurs did.
6:45Shannon Sharpe:Excuse me. Joe, watching the Spurs, and the thing is that if you watch the playoffs, look at the games today, it's all about spurts. Team will go on a 13-15-0 run, and a game that might be close or two points, and the next thing you know, you look up and you're like, damn, it was just a two-point ballgame or a tie ballgame, and the next thing you know, it's 15, 17 points ahead. What did you like about the Spurs? Because it's been a while. This is a very young team. It's been a while since they've been in the playoffs, but I thought they composed themselves and played extremely well today.
7:16Chad Johnson:Yeah, I thought they played great, Uncle Ocho, considering the fact that they've been out for, what, over a week? Mm-hmm. So it could go either way when you have rest, you know, because that could lead to rest, and I think we've seen that, in the playoffs this first round. But for San Antonio, they just got so many guys, bro, who are relentless and going to keep coming at you on both ends of the floor until you break. It's the reason why they've been one of the top teams in the NBA throughout this whole season. You know what I mean? This don't surprise me that they're able to get a win like this.
7:48Chad Johnson:And Wimby, it seemed like every time you look up, he'll be breaking some record. I'm like, damn. Every time I – because they had to play – they played – I forgot the game they had played before this, but they were talking about how he was breaking records. But obviously being his first playoff game and having the most points, I mean, he's special, Uncle Ocho. He anchors their defense. And obviously with them other guys, them dogs that surrounded him, you know, they create turnovers and that fuels their offense into getting a lot of open three-pointers, a lot of wide-open lob dunks. I mean, they're well-oiled engine, bro.
8:23Chad Johnson:You're going to have to be a great team to be able to beat these guys in a seven-game series. But I do give Portland credit. Okay, Ocho, you know, they competed. You know, they played a lot better than what I anticipated. And they got some pieces over there, man, that can play that I feel like they can contend with, you know, the Spurs. I think Portland should get a game or two in this series. Ocho? I enjoyed the game, Monk. I really enjoyed the game. We always talk about Wimby and what Wimby's done. Like Joe said, every time you look up, he's breaking a different record. but the goddamn supporting cast that he has, you know, in basketball, as I've come to learn, is all about runs.
9:04Chad Johnson:Yeah. Your starters aren't in. How well can you maintain and keep a goddamn lead before them big dogs come back in? Goddamn Castle, Vassal, Fox. Vassell. Oh, Vassell. I said it wrong? Yeah. It looks like it should be Vassell, but it's Vassell. Okay, okay, okay. Yeah, them boys play some good ball. As far as Portland, A. That goddamn... Hold on a line. I don't want to butcher buddy's name. Danny? Abhijia? Abhijia. Say that right? Abhijia? Oh, Abhijia. Oh, so the D silent. They're calling him Danny, bro. Hey, Joe. What's up, bro? A young bull of hell, boy. He can play. Oh, he the real deal. A young bull is hell, boy.
9:51Shannon Sharpe:He had a what? Remember he had a 40-piece the last game to beat the Phoenix Suns. He follows that up with a 30-10-5.
10:05Chad Johnson:Yeah, I feel like Portland got... Holiday didn't play great. I think Jeremy Grant is a great piece for whatever reason. He's not getting a lot of minutes, Uncle Ocho. Nope. But they're going to need contributions from Holiday. And I like how Henderson played considering the fact that... I was going to say that. So do I. Yeah, I think this game is great for him, this up-and-down style to where you can kind of play attack and transition. I feel like it fuels his game, and he looked pretty good tonight.
10:37Shannon Sharpe:I agree with you. I agree with you. I just think the thing, I think Klingon, he got to give him more. Holiday got to give him more. Kamara got to give him more. Kamara. I mean, come on. When you have four of their starters, when you're getting 35 from Wemby, So let's just say Denny and Wimby canceled out each other. Darren Fox gave you 17. Basel gave you 15. Castle gave you 17. Y 'all got to meet that. I thought Scoot Henderson played really well. And Scoot normally comes off the bench, and normally, but he's been – tonight, I was like, damn. He was ultra-aggressive. Joe, he was hunting his shot.
11:15Shannon Sharpe:I like that about him.
11:19Chad Johnson:Hey, look, because when you look at their team, Uncle Ocho, just to be 100, Scoot probably really the only one who can really go out there and get his own. I mean, outside of the Danny boy up there. Yeah. But Scoot is great in one-on-one. Like I said, he didn't look timmy. He didn't look scared. He went at his matchups. So maybe he need to do a little more of that. I mean, he only got up 11 attempts. I just feel like with the Spurs, bro, you're going to have to have somebody who's going to come along with Denny and help him out. Because to beat them, it's going to be tough. You're going to have to be at least 105, 110 to beat the Spurs.
11:55Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. My thing is, I'm looking at Scoot only going to play 28 minutes where a lot of the starters, Denny played, what, almost 40 minutes? Holiday played 36 minutes. He needs to get into 30. Hell, he young. He ain't with them 20. So what the hell you saving him for?
12:17Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey.
12:19Shannon Sharpe:It's all hands on deck now, Joe.
12:21Chad Johnson:Yeah. I don't know if Portland's still trying to figure it out because at one point in time, Shaden Sharp was the man over here. Yes. Yes. Yes. Now he come off the bench. Obviously, you know, he played 21 minutes. But I'm like, what happened to all this? So maybe Portland. Did they slip it, Joe?
12:37Shannon Sharpe:because after one chart starting and Scoot was coming off the bench and it seemed like they flipped it or something.
12:42Chad Johnson:No, I think that the Denny kid picked it up and I think they just started featuring him. You know he was an all-star this year, so it's probably kind of moved somebody back. But due to everything that Portland's been through, I mean, what are they? A 7th seed? I mean, hell, this don't surprise them. You know, they're going to have some lumps and lows in the game. You know what I mean? Like you're playing against top caliber club in the Spurs. So, I mean, I don't know how much we can expect from, you know, the Blazers on the road game one. You know, they're still trying to find their way. But I think they'll get better as the series continues.
13:16Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but when Denny is playing like that. But here's the thing, though, Joe, is that they're going to have to do something about these runs. You've got to suppress that. You can't let them go. I mean, because the game was right there. And you looked up. They were down 19 in like two minutes.
13:33Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.
13:34Shannon Sharpe:And the thing is that when you're on the road, you can't take those ill-advised shots because you're going to get runouts and you're going to get guys out of positions and now you got guys, they're shooting a shoot-around threes or they're getting all the way to the basket. So Portland, you're already on the man because you look at it, you're on the road, you're playing a 62-win team. You've got to play damn near flawless in order to beat this team. And taking account of shots, they shot 43 % from the floor, 26 % from the three-point line. That won't get it done. Hey, Uncle Joe. What's up? When it comes to Wimby, obviously playing the Spurs, is Wimby in the same type of situation like Jokic?
14:18Like there's really nothing you can do. You just got to hope you can contain the other four players on the court because he's going to get his no matter what you try to do?
14:28Chad Johnson:Man, hey, look, if I'm being honest, yeah. Man, you see how that man out there dribbling the ball, going between the ball and spinning? The man came with a pump fake. He threw it out there, did a baby sham guy, went into a spin. That was a little bit too much sauce he put on that one. Coach brought the pain right after that one. But I'm saying, man, for him to be that big, for him to be that big, bro, and to move the way he moved, it's going to be hard for anybody to guard him on the Ocho. They don't need but one dribble for real to be at the rim if we just, you know, so. And he can pull up and shoot threes.
15:02Chad Johnson:Yeah, not only that, but he's so comfortable maneuvering offensively. I just want to, I think at 7 '4", 7 '5", I think he, you know, I know they gain rebound. You got a lot of guys with at least five rebounds or more, but he probably need to rebound a little more. If I'm just nitpicking, you know, if I'm just nitpicking at his game. But for the most part, Ocho, they ain't going to have nobody who can stop him, bro.
15:26Shannon Sharpe:No. The biggest difference between him and Yoke is that Yoke is going to give you double-digit assists. Right. And rebound. Yoke is a reluctant scorer. Now, hey, if you leave him one-on-one, he's going to punish you now. He's waiting for you to come to trap because he knows most people, you're not going to single Yoke one-on-one. And the same thing with Wimby. But the problem is with Wimby is that Wimby, yeah, he can't post. But Wimby, like Joe said, he'll get the ball on the wing. He's three-point. You got to guard him from the three-point line. Right. And he ain't looking. Yoke, it's just shoot a set shot three.
15:56Shannon Sharpe:You know, you leave him open. Wimby will pull up from three.
16:00Chad Johnson:he would dance on you and then pull up from three. Yes. Yes. Hey, that big boy got some moves, man. I ain't gonna lie. It's impressive to watch him move and play because we've never seen nothing like that. No. You know, they always talk about Will Chamberlain. We ain't seen no footage of the week, but we see it. Will ain't doing this. A 7 '4", 7 '5". Hey, hey, hey. Moving like he's 6 '3". We've seen a lot of guys.
16:24Shannon Sharpe:We've seen Shaq bring the ball down, but to handle the ball like that, consistently, Get the ball at the three-point line. And he'll dribble. He'll get a midi. Like you said, Joe, he'll handle it. Shoot a three. They pass it to him in the corner. He's like, take that with you. No, we've never seen anything like this. I mean, basically, he's probably a guy that's four or five inches taller than Kevin Durant. Yeah. And doing what he's doing. Because Kevin Durant, we've never seen anything like that. We saw Dirk from seven foot, but Dirk can't have handles like that. Dirk with the one leg step back.
16:56Shannon Sharpe:He had the postgame. He could shoot the three. and then Kevin Durant came with the Hesley and the high dribble, the crossover, it get boom. Now you got somebody at 7 '4 and a half. What the hell? What the hell you doing, man?
17:11Chad Johnson:Right. Hey, because think about it. Even some of them donks that he get, Uncle Ocho, he ain't getting but about a couple inches off the ground now. He ain't got to jump, Joe.
17:22Shannon Sharpe:Because think about it. He's 7 '4. His arms got to be 2 and a half feet long. Yeah, yeah. So, hey, all he got to do, who?
Read the full transcript
17:30Chad Johnson:Yeah. So if he got a 9-6 reach, yeah, look, it ain't enough for him to be at 10 foot. Exactly. Exactly. Hey, he a cheat code. That's somebody, it'd be hard to create that on NBA 2K. I ain't going to lie to you to be moving like that at 7-4.
17:48Shannon Sharpe:That's crazy. I think, look, the Spurs won, but I didn't think the Spurs bench, because that's normally where they get you at. You know, Kelton Johnson normally come in and get you big minutes. Carter Bryant normally gives you big minutes. I thought Cornette really played well. Dylan Harper had six points. But their bench is normally more than that. Yeah. And I think they'll be better. Would I be surprised if Portland got a game in Portland? I wouldn't be, Joe.
18:19Chad Johnson:I wouldn't either. I wouldn't either. I think they got enough talent. And I think a lot of them young cats will play a lot better at home. You know what I mean? But in San Antonio, I don't see them getting no win in San Antonio. Hey, hey, I'm with Wimby. Look, look. I'm with Wimby with the monks. Hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, I'm so locked in. Them folks ain't going to get nothing over here. You hear me?
18:42Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Wimby going to have other people going up with the monks, them booties or whatever. No, he's Shaolin. Shaolin. They going to be up there in the mountains.
18:52Chad Johnson:Hey, I don't know what he's doing, but I know when the game first came up, He showed him with his head down. Oh, man. And his eyes closed? Yeah. I said, yeah, he ain't playing no games.
19:04Shannon Sharpe:He focused. Wemby dropped 35 in his playoff debut, setting a franchise record for the most points in a playoff debut, passing Timmy Duncan. Timmy, Timmy, Timmy. I know there had to be a good feeling, man, playing in front of Timmy, goddamn. And the Admiral. And the Admiral, man. And his royalty. Manu was there.
19:24Chad Johnson:Iceman. Yeah. Durbin. That's my man Iceman. That's royalty over there, bro. Yeah, for sure. Hey, trust me. They know what they got. They know what they got in San Antonio, too. They got a contender. They got a contender. Wait, wait, wait. Joe, this year? They going to contend. Okay, okay, okay.
19:44Shannon Sharpe:Yes. Because they can guard. The problem that a lot of people have when they go up against OKC, they can't guard. Like, hey, Castle can guard. Champini can guard. Obviously, Wimby's going to throw everything that's close in there. They got guys that can guard.
19:58Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah, they do.
20:00Shannon Sharpe:They do. And they ain't got no answer for Wimby. I know Chet is – but Chet ain't fooling with Wimby.
20:06Chad Johnson:Chet and Hartenstein, they're going to have to run him.
20:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they ain't fooling with Wimby.
20:09Chad Johnson:They had to be physical with him, run him in the ground. Boy, that'd be a hell of a situation.
20:13Shannon Sharpe:You got to let Hartenstein – you got to let Hartenstein bang on him. Yeah. Because the thing is, you know, if you lose Hartenstein, that's okay. but you rough him up a little bit, you can't afford to have both of those guys in foul trouble. Get him tied. Now you're at a decided mismatch.
20:28Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. Hey, that'd be a great matchup.
20:32Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, but like I said, I just think they got to get more. They got to get more. I mean, look, you got production out of school. Henderson, I don't know if you thought you'd get 7 of 11, 18 points out of school. You know what you're going to get from Denny, and he gave you what you thought you would get, 30, 10, and 4. Okay, maybe you'd like to see the assist total a little high, but hell, they couldn't make any shots. Assist ain't really on you. It's on them. They got to make shots for you to get the assist up. And they shot 43 % from the floor. But they got to get more. They got to get more. They had three starters and had 21 points between their three starters.
21:04Shannon Sharpe:That ain't good enough. Robert Williams came in and gave them quality minutes. He had 11 and 6 and 17 minutes.
21:09Chad Johnson:He did. He did. He gave great minutes, four assists. And like I said, man, they got a lot of talent over there on the Ocho. I think they going to kind of figure it out as the series go. Like I say, the playoffs don't really start until somebody loses on their home floor. They all they got to do, you know, do what they can to try to win game six, but protect that by the time they get home. It's kind of like the Atlanta and the Knicks series, honestly, if I'm just keeping it 100. I'd rather start on the road with a young team who doesn't have experience. That way we can kind of see, engage the intensity of the NBA playoffs and how we need to approach it.
21:45Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? So, yeah, you can gauge that in the first two games if you're on the road. But when you get home, we need to know what to expect. You know what I mean? You got to come with that thumper when you get to the crib. You can't be playing. Hey, Joe, that's dangerous there, Joe. Because, you know, you go down 0-2, 0-2 in the hole, and then you come home in that third game. Now you got the pressure on you where you got to show up and you got to play. Shoot, ain't really too much gauge you need to do, boys. Play off basketball now. Hey, Ojo, experience is the best teacher, baby. Okay.
22:15Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? Some cats going to have to learn on the fly. It's just like we going to the playoffs. Yeah, I can tell you how the playoffs going to beat Ocho, but until you get out there in that environment, in that atmosphere, and really feel it, that's the only way you're going to really know. You know what I mean? So them guys are kind of settling in, get a little comfortable, relax a little bit, and I think the games will start to come out a little more.
22:38Shannon Sharpe:So the Spurs take a 1-0 lead on the Portland Trailblazers He slings to a 111-98 victory. Victor Wimmy-Yama sets a Spurs record for most points in a playoff debut. He passed the great Timmy Duncan. And the first home team to lose this playoffs were the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. Thanks to Paulo Banquero, he had 23 points as the Magic beat the Pistons 112-101. Paulo made up for that first time they lost. They had 23 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists. The 8-seater Orlando Magic went on the road to Detroit, and they won. The top-seeded Pistons extended their longest home playoff losing streak in NBA history.
23:22Shannon Sharpe:They have dropped 11 straight home games in the postseason, the drought that dates back to 2008. Cade Cunningham scored a career playoff high 39 points. Tobias Harris added 17 for the Pistons, but the rest of their teammates was relatively quiet. You know, sometimes, sometimes, you know, and we can get into this, and Joe, let me know what you think, but sometimes it's really not what you did and the other team just played a little better. But in order for Detroit to get back in this thing and win this series, Jalen Dern can't do that. Copenhagen's spit-free pouches are packed full of American-grown tobacco.

28:02Shannon Sharpe:8.7 assists? But you look up down the board. Look at Orlando. 23, 19, 17, 17, 16. That's how you go on the road in silence and cry. Joe, what did you like about what the Magic did? Because I thought from the get-go, they didn't get in the hole, they took off and they didn't look back.
28:23Chad Johnson:Damn, Orlando, like Jekyll and Hyde, for real. They are. Think about it. They got their head beat in against Philly, and ever since that loss, they beat the brakes off the Hornets. And now you come in in game one. This really don't surprise me, Uncle Ocho. You want me to tell you why? because I don't think Orlando is fully healthy, but they got a lot of their key guys, Wagner, Ben Caro. And I think ever since that game against Philly for Ben Caro, I know he heard the whispers because I know I was very critical of him for settling for jump shots, doing too much ball handling, and not using his muscle that he has, that big body, and creating space and causing havoc, getting to the free throw line, and making these dudes guard you.
29:08Chad Johnson:Ever since then, bro, he's been a totally different player. You know what I mean? He came out. He's established himself early, meaning getting easy buckets, getting into the teeth of the defense, which is getting in the paint, making these guys try and stop them, and it's just been tough. Other guys have came along for the ride, and they've been fun to watch. They've been a top team, you know, a team who I think before the season started, a lot of people picked them to be at the top of the East. Yes. Probably a top four, top five team. Yes, right. And they disappointed in that aspect. But, man, they got a prime opportunity in front of them because the thing about Detroit, we always talk about it, Uncle Ocho.
29:47Chad Johnson:Cade got to be great, and Duren got to be great. And he was. Yeah, I mean, you got to – they only had two guys in double figures, Detroit, bro. That's it. Got to buy Tobias and got to buy Cade.
30:01Shannon Sharpe:That's it, bro. In the playoffs, Joe, your best players got to be your best players, and then I get some help. I get some supplementary help from somebody else. My role player, one or two of those give me something. Jalen Dern is going to be an all-NBA player. You gave me eight points and seven rebounds. This team led the NBA in point paint. Yeah. In paint points, excuse me. They led. Orlando crushed them. Plus 20. You can't have that. I don't know what he was doing. He played timid as hell.
30:35Chad Johnson:Man, I think we got to give Orlando a lot of credit too, though. Yes. You know, they played tonight how we thought they would play throughout this season. They beat a top team. Obviously, they are eighth seed playing on one seed. Yeah. And, you know, it's been questions about Detroit, but Orlando is getting healthy, bro. They got guys who are playing well, and if Paolo going to lead the way he's been leading the past two games, they're going to be tough to beat, man. They could potentially, you know, upset this Detroit Pistons team if they ain't careful. Now what we got to see is, okay, Detroit been one of the best teams in the NBA.
31:13Chad Johnson:Now we got to see what y 'all really made up because y 'all done lost on y 'all home floor. Oh, yeah. Let them get the next one. Hey, look, now and do you got to get the next one, but you have to win in Orlando. You have to win in Orlando. You got to win on the road. Their season is the next game they play.
31:32Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Must win. Can't go to Orlando down 0-2. No. Wagner was unbelievable in the fourth quarter. Every time they tried to make a run, he'd snuff it out. Yeah. Every time. Wendell Carter played unbelievable. Like I said, I'm shocked. I am shocked that Derrick played this bad in this ballgame, Joe. If somebody would have told me, like, you know what, hey, he's not even going to get double figures. Bro, he's a double-double guy. You gave me that in 33 minutes? And he only had three fouls, Joe, so he wasn't in foul trouble. It wasn't like a situation he picked up three fouls in the first quarter or he had three or four fouls in the first half.
32:18Shannon Sharpe:It wasn't that. He had three fouls and played 33 minutes.
32:22Chad Johnson:Yeah. Man, look, that's why. Hey, look, I give Carter, I give Wagner, I give Ben Carroll, I give them big guys credit because they fought him. And they outplayed the Pistons game one. They did. They did. You the road team, bro, especially in the playoffs when it starts, I always feel like the first game is like the best game to try and steal. Pistons been out for over a week, probably 10 to 12 days, while Orlando has been playing playoff basketball for the past week. You know what I mean? They played a couple games in this past week to where, you know, they already got it at the highest level, and they know where they got to play at to be able to compete.
33:01Shannon Sharpe:They've been playing playoff basketball for the last three weeks because they couldn't fall out of that damn 10 spot. They about to be out to play in. They ended up in the play in, but they was about to be out. So they had to be in playoff mode.
33:14Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah, and they've been there. Hey, look.
33:17Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, and they played well. Like you say, you know what, Joe, not as you think about it, you're right. Like, sometimes it's, you know, you just tip your hat to Orlando and they just outplayed him. Yeah, yeah. You want your guns. Now, if they outplayed him and Durbin would have played like I know he can play, Duncan Robinson need to give him more production than what he gave him. But you look at that bench. I mean, 5, 8, 11, 14. They got 20 points off the bench. That ain't going to help you.
33:42Chad Johnson:Yeah. And when you look at Wendell and Vons Wagner, look at the efficiency that they shot at, bro. Yep. Wendell missed one shot. Yep. You know what I mean? He won one for two from three. Wagner, seven for 13. When you got guys playing at an efficient level like that, all Paulo got to do is keep asserting himself to where, establishing that, you know, he going to be the best player in this series. Hey, man. Orlando got a great chance, Uncle Ocho, in this first round. They do. I'm with the Pistons. I want to see the Pistons prevail, but they going to have to show us what is, you know, they haven't been a champion.
34:20Chad Johnson:and they hadn't won a championship, but to be a championship-caliber team, you're going to have to show us you can get out this little rut that you're in.
34:27Shannon Sharpe:The difference is everybody that you expected to play well for Orlando played well. There you go. Only one play, really. And Tobias Harris gave you what you expect him to give you. But only Cade. I mean, even I got Jenkins. Joe, you remember Jenkins' offense. But he's really mainly offense when Cade was out.
34:47Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.
34:47Shannon Sharpe:He's a different player with Cade because Cade's going to have the ball. and K's going to do his thing. Yeah. So I don't know if we can still expect that same production now that K's back that he gave you when K was out. I do expect that from Durant. But the Magic guys played like they needed to play in order to win. And so this is why they won. But I tell you what, Detroit, y 'all better win this game. I don't know when y 'all play. I don't know if y 'all play Tuesday. Tuesday or Wednesday. But you better win on your home court. The one thing that you don't want to do, now you're not loaded like that.
35:20Shannon Sharpe:that you can go down 0-2 in your home court and just go down there. Because I'm afraid when you come back, you'll be cleaning out your lockers if you go down 0-2 at home.
35:29Chad Johnson:Nah, nah. Hey, you know, Detroit got a huge fan base. They ain't going for that. They work too hard. And the Pistons, you know, what they stand for, I know them dudes going to bounce back game two. They definitely going to be relentless, resilient. They going to do whatever it takes to win this game. They know they got to win game two for sure.
35:47Shannon Sharpe:You do not realize, Joe, They hadn't won a home playoff game since 2008. Do you know how long 2008 was? I was in my early 40s just to get a 40.
35:58Chad Johnson:Hold on, hold on. You said who ain't won the Pistons? Detroit. Detroit. They didn't beat the Knicks at home last year? No. They lost at home.
36:07Shannon Sharpe:They lost both games, didn't it, man? They sure did. They've lost 11 straight home games in the postseason, a drought that dates back to 2008.
36:20Chad Johnson:What's going on?
36:22Shannon Sharpe:As a matter of fact, I was 39. About to turn 40. In 2008? In 2008, I about to turn 40. Boy, you were young, boy. What?
36:32Chad Johnson:Oh, he was cutting up.
36:34Shannon Sharpe:I'm saying, you're still young. Yeah. I was on a bender. You know what I'm saying? You was here back then? Yeah, what? What?
36:46Shannon Sharpe:bending like Beckham the other way.
36:52Shannon Sharpe:That's a long... I mean, when you think about it, 18 years, that's a long-ass time.
36:56Chad Johnson:It is, bro. I didn't know that. It's a good stat because I swear I didn't know that. I didn't know that. Damn. Pistons got to figure that out.
37:05Shannon Sharpe:I tell you what. You better not go to 12. You better not go to 12 because you end up having to probably get 13-14 out the way next year.
37:17Chad Johnson:Oh, man. I got to call my boy Jay Jack over there. He the assistant coach. I got to ask Jay Jack what's going on. I saw him on the sideline. Yeah, I got to ask Jay Jack what's going on, man. Hold on, now. Yeah.
37:28Shannon Sharpe:But no, I think like you said, Joe, you and I were both frustrated with Paulo Bancaro because the way he played against Philly. And then he followed that up the next game, and he had a monster game against Charlotte. He did a number on Charlotte. and then he came and he followed that up. This is what we expect from the number one overall pick a couple years ago. This is what we expect from an NBA All-Star. This is the way you're the leader. You're the best player. You got to be the best player more times than not on a nightly basis.
38:02Chad Johnson:Yeah, hey, and take advantage of that big body you got, bro. And when he plays well, man, look here. They tough to beat.
38:10Shannon Sharpe:I saw him do a number on the Lakers this year.
38:14Chad Johnson:Yeah.
38:14Shannon Sharpe:I mean, he got to get into the mid. He was knocking down the three, putting the ball on the floor, finishing at the rim. He was hell. Man, he a big kid.
38:21Chad Johnson:He a big kid. Yeah, hell yeah.
38:24Shannon Sharpe:He like 16. Yeah. 6 '9", 16. Big body. You know, handling the rock.
38:28Chad Johnson:All he got to do is stay in that mid-post range, be the picker in the screen and roller instead of being a handler all the time. The way you can get to them short rolls or roll and get them easy buckets or where you can play, make, and score. But if he relentless like he's been, getting to the paint, Shh. What? Because I watched him in college.
38:47Shannon Sharpe:I'm like, bro, what is all this hype about? Because he did not play like he played now. I'm like, well, damn. Yeah. Yeah. And they're like, Bancaro, Bancaro, he could be the number one overall pick. I'm like, okay. You didn't see it? No.
39:03Chad Johnson:No, I ain't either.
39:04Shannon Sharpe:He didn't play like his size. Now, I get it. He's playing with other five stars and you just can't dominate. You just can't. Coach K ain't going to just give you the ball. Well, I think Coach K was his coach. Maybe Shire was his coach. But you're not going to just give him the ball because, hell, they got other guys going in the first ride to the NBA.
39:24Chad Johnson:Yeah. You know, dude. But he's the hell.
39:26Shannon Sharpe:He a load.
39:27Chad Johnson:He is, bro. He is. He continue to keep playing like this. He going to get Detroit playing that hell.
39:34Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, Detroit. Hey, Joe, they might be in trouble, Joe. I know it's one game, and I don't want to overreact to one game. But history ain't on their side. considering they haven't won a home playoff game since 2008.
39:45Chad Johnson:Yeah. Well, listen, listen, listen, listen. They getting tested right now, Uncle Ocho. Ooh, yeah. This is for the Pistons. Now they got to come up with some answers. This is it.
39:56Shannon Sharpe:But, yo, this ain't no surprise test. Hell, you knew the playoff was starting, and you knew they starting at home.
40:02Chad Johnson:Yeah, so it's rest over rust. You know, they've been – it depends. It depends on how you look at this. You know, they've been out for a while. They're a young team still, so some rest could cause for them to be a little rusty. I feel like they're going to pick it up. Obviously, they're going to win game two because of the desperation they got to play with. And I feel like they'll get back on track. They've been a pretty good road team all year. So I think they can go in. I think they can go in and get one in Orlando. I really do. Hey, Joe.
40:33Shannon Sharpe:Go ahead, Ocho. I was going to say they're going to have to, Joe.
40:37Chad Johnson:Got no choice. Detroit is going to have to play Detroit basketball. Hey, because them got them. Magic, I had a few Magic fans. I'm not sure what I said on the show. Well, I don't know if I had picked Detroit to win the finals. I was talking trash. They cussing me all out on Twitter and on X. Like, yeah, don't talk about my Orlando Magic. No, I'm like, wait a minute. I don't recall saying anything about them. Maybe I must have picked the goddamn pissing to win the goddamn series. And they on top of my head. Well, I don't know when the last time an A-seed beat a one seed. When the last time they had them?
41:14Shannon Sharpe:It's been a minute. I remember when the Nuggets beat the Suns in 94. I think Golden State beat the Mavericks the year Dirk. I think Dirk won the MVP.
41:26Chad Johnson:Yep, with Baron Davis and Steven. Yeah, yeah. Matt Barnes and all them. Yeah, yeah.
41:35Shannon Sharpe:I'm trying to think off the top of my head, Joe. Who else won eight?
41:42What was the heat the year they beat the Celtics?
41:50Shannon Sharpe:They might have been a five or a six seed. I don't think they were eight.
41:53Chad Johnson:Yeah. I'll tell you what, though. If I'm Orlando, I'm trying to be greedy. Okay, I'll tell you.
42:00Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. I'm trying to.
42:02Chad Johnson:Hey, we won game one. We really just came here to get one game. But hold up. We done got the first one? Okay. Oh, yeah. Hey, look. He beat the Bucs.
42:10Shannon Sharpe:That's when Jimmy Butler went off. You remember that game? Jimmy Butler had like 52. Oh, they were eighth seed? Was that the year?
42:15Chad Johnson:Yes. They didn't make it to the finals that year, did they? Yeah, I think that's the year.
42:22Shannon Sharpe:Was that the year they made it to the finals when they ended up losing to Denver? Yeah. Yeah. Is that? Was that the year they lost to Denver? Yeah. You remember when Jimmy Butler couldn't miss? I mean, everything, he was stumbling, going out of bounds,
42:35Chad Johnson:throwing it up, and it was going in. Yeah, he knocked the Bucks off. Who else they knocked off that run they had? They had a hell of a run. I think they beat the Celtics, too. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, they did. They did. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah. Hey, hey. Okay. Yeah.
42:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, when Derrick Rose tore his ACL. In 2012, Philly beat them.
43:03Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah, yeah.
43:06Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. Well, hey, look, if Orlando want to make history,
43:18Chad Johnson:all they got to do is try to be a little greedy. Look, look, all we wanted to do was win one. Now we didn't get one. Hold on, game two? Look, we end up going over the game plan again. where we can do better to be a better team in game two to where we can go home up 2-0. Up 2-0. Hey, never know.
43:36Shannon Sharpe:But then the thing is you don't want to relax. So you're like, oh, we got the two and now we going home. And then you relax and then they take the two back.
43:42Chad Johnson:Yeah, because in the playoffs, it's a fine line between winning and losing. You know what I mean? Like you can't play with the game, bro. You know, I feel like Orlando has a prime opportunity, but the same with Detroit. But they got to show that they can be tried and tested and prevail, you know, to try and be, you know, one of the top teams in the East. I mean, the top team in the East. So we'll see what they made of. All things being equal, this is a perfect matchup for Orlando.
44:12Shannon Sharpe:I don't want Boston. And I damn sure didn't want to see the Knicks in the first round. So all things being equal, give me them. They young. They ain't battle tested. And then guess what? I got JB, JT, battle-tested, Derrick White, battle-tested. What are we talking about here?
44:29Chad Johnson:Yeah, hey.
44:30Shannon Sharpe:So, all things being equal, give me them.
44:34Chad Johnson:Yeah, hey, I'm with you. Hey, because when you look back at it, hell, that loss to Philly wasn't a bad loss. Yes. I'd rather take Detroit than Boston. I don't want Boston.
44:46Shannon Sharpe:You want Boston the first round? Absolutely not. Yeah, let me get these guys. They're young and they lose at home all the time. Jay Gilders, Alexander, scored 25 points as the reigning champs. Thunder opened the playoffs with a resounding 35-point victory over the Suns, 119-84. SGA scored 25 points. The OKC Thunder began their title defense with a rout. The reigning league MVP made 5 of 18 shots, but he went to the free throw line 17 times, cashed in 15 of those. Jalen Williams scored 22. Chet Holmgren at his 16.
45:27Shannon Sharpe:I don't get the Suns. Go ahead, Ocho. Hey, before you talk about the Suns and not getting them, I know the Thunder won. I just want to ask something about SGA real quick, Joe. Go ahead. You always talk about him being able to get to his shot. Now, I understand the regular season. In the regular season, because he's so good at manipulating defenders, doing what he does, getting to a spot, getting the jump, running into him. I get getting the whistle in the regular season. But in the postseason, getting the whistle at that same rate to go 518 and still... Come on, Joe. Am I missing something?
46:08Chad Johnson:Yeah, hey. Ocho, he finna be a two-time MVP, bro. So he gonna get that whistle no matter what? I mean, if it's a foul, I mean, it's hard to stay in front of him. Yeah, see, great scores, bro. If they don't shoot a great field goal percentage, you know, in years past, being able to get to the line, they've been masters at that. And he is one. He know how to foul bait you. He know how to take the angles to where, you know, he know you're going to be reaching. You know, he's masters there. He averages 33 points a night. You know, this is considered a down night tonight. But he has counterparts who've been there.
46:45Chad Johnson:Them dudes been tried and tested, man. They've been trying to test it in the finals and obviously prevail. So I ain't never worried about OKC, another team who's had a lot of rest versus rust, considering the fact that Phoenix has been playing over the past. They played a couple games this past week. We still don't think Phoenix got it. I mean, look. They're not winning the game. Come on, man. That man had this bad game, and they still beat the brakes off them folks. And you know why?
47:16Shannon Sharpe:because Phoenix won't stop turning the ball over. They won't stop taking bad-ass shots. They shooting contested threes from 27.
47:24Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah.
47:26Shannon Sharpe:I'm like, bro, y 'all need to treat the basketball like teams when they play the old Patriots and the Chiefs. Hold the ball to the very last second. 51:43Chad Johnson:Hey, you know what it is? The Thunder, they push you to play at a pace because of their pressure. Defensively, they make you play at a pace offensively that, you know, You got guys who can play at that pace, but you're going to die out after a while because of the pressure that they apply. And they're going to give up them appetizing shots, Uncle Osho, because why? They want the tempo. They want that pace. So, yeah, Brooks is going to get a couple wide open shots, a couple midis. Same with Green. But if they're not shooting at a high clip, meaning over 50%, it's going to be hard for them to even compete in any game in this series.
52:24Chad Johnson:You know what I mean? They have to be efficient, bro, in order for them to be effective. Look, you get nothing from your bigs. You don't get nothing from them. I mean, if them three guys, Booker Green and Brooks, ain't putting up at least 25 a night plus, I'm telling you, all of them are going to have to be in the 20s just to compete.
52:41Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. But it's, I mean, look, I think Dylan Brooks has had a phenomenal year. But if he's shooting the ball 22 times and he's going 6-22, you're going to get beat just like this. If he go three or ten from the three-point line, he's going to get beat just like this.
52:56Chad Johnson:Now, he come out aggressive, too. I'm talking about he took, like, the first two, three shots. I'm like, damn. Hey, you notice that? Yeah, all right, listen. And what happens is you're like, it's fool's gold.
53:08Shannon Sharpe:Because you don't, hey, you know what I'm saying? You talk to a couple of chicks, you're like, hey, you get a couple of numbers, you don't stop. Yeah. You just keep talking. Hey, man, you boy got it. Bro, I'm like, damn. And also, bro, you play 26 minutes. No points. Goodwin. Maybe he got hurt. Also, Neil, I mean, the thing is that the guys that you're counting on to play defense, they're getting fouled. They're in foul trouble.
53:42Chad Johnson:And I know Gillespie had a decent year this year, meaning in the absence of when Booker was out. Yeah. But, man, these are guys, it's hard to count on these dudes in these pressure-type situations. Man, it's the playoffs, bro. I ain't counting on them on the road. Joe, now we come home, I'm sleeping in my bed,
54:01Shannon Sharpe:and I got my crowd behind me. I'm not counting on road players to go on the road and play out of their mind. Right. I'm counting on Booker. Booker's the guy. I'm counting on Booker to play out of his mind. But the problem is they got five guys that they can throw a book. They got five guys that can throw a book and wear his ass down. They're going to give him hell. So now, okay, Jalen Green, those two playing games, Jalen Green played out of his damn mind. And he has that accountability. He could go on a streak, and you see he had 35 one night, 36 the next night. He has that kind of ability. Hey, listen.
54:44Shannon Sharpe:It's streaky. But, I just, look, and then somebody, it's one game. Hey, you should know better than the Lute, or overreact. I tell you what, bet five grand that the Suns don't win a game.
54:56Chad Johnson:Yeah. And they probably, I ain't heard back from him. Hey, they probably gonna move by 20 in game two. Yeah. Because, you know, it's a difference playing them playoff games and now you playing against the best team in the league, Uncle Ocho.
55:09Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
55:09Chad Johnson:Like you say, They got five guys on the perimeter, bro, who going to sit in that chair and going to keep you in front and make you take a tough shot. Now, Devin Booker is a tough shot maker. He can make them tough shots. Green, a tough shot maker. I just don't like to see Dylan Brooks in his bag like that. 22-shot attempts. Come on, man. I feel like I need you. Obviously, I need you to make shots. But this ain't like when Booker and Green was out and you can take 22 shots. Cool. Yes. Thank you. But you got these dudes back in the lineup. up. We need you to be that emotional leader, that defender, that elite defender.
55:44Chad Johnson:Yeah, make somebody act out of character, man. Get them kicked out the game and give us an advantage some way, somehow. Shit. I want, hey,
55:51Shannon Sharpe:O.K. Seager's like, you know what? We're gonna leave his ass open again the next night. And then hopefully take 26 shots.
55:58Chad Johnson:Hey, because you know him and Shea play on the Canadian team, so I don't know if they got a little, you know what I mean? If he got a little something.
56:05Shannon Sharpe:I should have got a little something going. I mean, he shoved Shea one time. He got Not a flagrant because he hit Chet in the face trying to get a rebound. Yeah. I think it was accidental, but he taking 22 shots. There's a good chance you're not going to win. He taking that many shots, Joe. It's the way he take them.
56:23Chad Johnson:22 shots is a lot for him. But the way he's taking them, it's just straight. He shot 10 threes.
56:29Shannon Sharpe:Now, all of a sudden, he turning the guy dang on playoff Steph and Klay Thompson. What if he making them? What if he making them? He ain't. But look, the thing is, you got to be who you are. That ain't him. There's a handful of guys you want taking double-digit threes. Right. Dylan Brooks isn't one of them. I'm sorry. Not on that team, no.
56:53Chad Johnson:Nah.
56:54Shannon Sharpe:He's not? Oh, man, here he is. Here he is, the lemon pepper stepper. Whip that trick. Whip that trick. University of South Carolina Gamecock of Love y 'all see him the WWE United States Champion a two-time NXT Champion a one-time NXT North America Champion and winner of the 2023 Men's Iron Survivor Challenge here he is Trick William Trick let's talk about it what's up they Shannon Ocho what's up Joe what's happening baby what's up you did your thing today now I had to put it on man he was talking too much for me
57:35Go ahead, Ojo Hey, listen, bruh Your energy, your enthusiasm It reminds, dude, you know what? You're one-on-one, I'ma just say you're one-on-one right now Man, your energy feels effortless Effortless on screen Dog, watch it, watch it from TV What's something behind the scenes that actually takes a lot more work Than fans would expect From you, because, dog Well, you, hey, you, hey Go ahead, go ahead, I'ma let you answer Nah, nah, I appreciate that, man. Let me tell you, them bumps hurt. And hitting that ground hurt every single time. You know, people say what they say about the business, but I tell you, man, this is 52 weeks a year.
58:1352 weeks a year, man, you got to get up whether you feel like it, whether you don't. You know what I mean? And I would say that's the biggest difference I've experienced from, you know, playing football and being here. You know what I mean? There ain't no offseason. You know, I'm at Monday Night Raw tomorrow. You know what I mean? I think it's the Super Bowl. Everybody else had their Super Bowl day off for three months. You know, we're right back at it tomorrow. Got to fill the seats. Yes, sir.
58:36Shannon Sharpe:Talk to us about tonight. The atmosphere, the entry. WWE did a big thing because everybody came out, had their theme music. You know, Ova came out. Ova came out and I think walking like this here. You came out, spinning around. What the hell? Y 'all see it. Come on with it. Yeah, man. I love a good entrance, man. Like for real, and music, it set the tone for everything. If the music ain't right, then the people ain't going to feel it. And most of the people, I ain't going to feel it. You know what I'm saying? So I told them from the jump, man, I said, I need horns. I need horns. And I played Family Ties, you know, with that Kendrick Lamar.
59:17I need to feel like black royalty, you know, coming to the ring. You know what I'm saying? So I had them horns playing. We put on those 808 drums and put a lot of bass. And could y 'all feel the bass tonight? Oh, yeah.
59:31Shannon Sharpe:Oh, you know, you had the hype. They were hype. Hey, that thing was hype. That was hype. 42, 43, 44 ,000, whatever the fans were, they were hype. They was ready for that match. You get obviously, you know, hey, this is what we're here for. This is what we're here for. And you're like, okay, let me go out here and put on this show. The people, this is what the people came to see. And you did your thing. So what were the emotions like when, okay, you're getting, obviously, you know, it's getting close to the end. And.
1:00:08Man, I could, man, there's something about it, man. You could tell when, when the people ready, you know what I mean? And man, shout out to Sandy Zane, man. He's a great opponent. You know what I mean? He's been in the business a long time. I'm talking about 15 years at the high level WWE. WWE, but I think what took that match to the next level today is, I mean, he kicked me in my nose and it upset me a little bit, I ain't gonna lie. You know, he kicked me in my nose and I felt like, you know, he had bad attention. So, you know what I mean? So, from that point on, we was on and rocking. But sometimes that's the best thing, that extra energy, that extra juice that you need.
1:00:42You know, sometimes, you know, you gotta slap your teammate on the helmet and say, hey, get right, you know what I mean? And, yeah, that's what happened today. So we took it to the next level and the people loved it. You know, the crowd was rocking. I just saw the video back, man. Like a feeling that I've been chasing my whole life. So it was beautiful.
1:01:00Chad Johnson:Hey, Trick. Hey, Trick, tell me something. This ISO. Man, I know you got a football background. But how did you get into wrestling, bro? Like what made you get into it? Yeah, man, so I played at Hampton University. Shout out to my HBCU, Shannon. Yeah. Y 'all know what's up? Yeah, I transferred to the University of South Carolina. I walked on to the University of South Carolina. Outstanding offensive walk on, worked my way to becoming a starter, everything like that. No excuses. My senior year, I just, it wasn't working for me. We had a coaching change. No excuses. You know, players got to play.
1:01:38You know, for whatever reason, my career just kind of felt a little funny. But to give it a summarized version, man, I still found my way in camp with the Philadelphia Eagles. And I was balling. I ain't going to lie to you, Shannon. Yeah. Look, I don't know what it was. What position? What position? I played wide receiver, man. I was in his sweet feet like Ocho, man. I was, hey, you know what I'm saying? Hey, look, six, three, 220. You know what I mean? You know, that's what I did. But then I got cut from camp. Then I finally signed with an agent. I didn't have an agent at the time. So I finally signed with an agent.
1:02:13He said, don't worry, we're going to get you back on another squad. You got to film. And nothing was shaking. and I couldn't figure out what was going on. They said, we're going to get you with the XFL. Now, I can't speak on it too in detail, but there was some close affiliations with the XFL in WWE at the time. So when I sent my information to the XFL, I get an email from WWE the next day. They said, are you interested in coming in for a tryout? Now, I'm thinking to myself, you know, I ain't never thought about wrestling. You know what I mean? Yeah. I don't know, man.
1:02:50Shannon Sharpe:Oh, WWE, y 'all got a football team? Because I'm looking to play wide receiver. Y 'all got a football team? I played football for 20 years. You know what I mean? I enjoy wrestling. I'm an Attitude Era kid. So, you know what I mean? My first cuss word was opening a can of whoop-ass, watching Stone Cold Steve Austin. Stone Cold 316. You know what I'm saying? So I was familiar with the product, but I just didn't think about it for myself. You know how it is when you're playing your sport. You locked in. It's tunnel bitch. Yes. And that's what I was. and then they sent an email and I was like, oh, you know, that do sound like a good opportunity.
1:03:22I don't know if I want to wear them tights though. You know, them tights, you know what I mean? You know, got these bird legs. I was like, man, I don't know if I'm going to wear these tights. Then my pa said, man, you better go out there and make some money, put them tights on and get out there and make a name. I've been wrestling ever since. Hey, I like it. I like it. Hey, that's so dope. With all the success, right, Trick, all the success you've had so far in your career. If your career had a soundtrack right now, and I know you know about your music, especially when it comes to your ring walks and becoming one, not only with the music, but with the fans as well.
1:03:58If your career had a soundtrack right now, what song would define this chapter in life and why? 50 Cent, I'm the man. 50 Cent, you know, something real slow and gangster, you know what I mean? Yeah, right. You can smoke a cigar too. You know what I mean? Yeah, come on. You know, man, we're sitting in it now. You know, I'm in my bag right now, and everybody know it. I ain't even got to yell at you. You know what I mean? It is what it is. Yes, sir.
1:04:24Shannon Sharpe:What was your reaction, Oba? He retired Brock Lesnar tonight. Oba, hey, Oba had a cold entry, too. Like I said, when they played that thing, and the crowd started, Oba, Oba, oh. And he hit that thing. He come out there. I mean, hey, everybody, they panty crowded, everybody was doing it. Hey, it was, hey, I mean, hell, that match didn't last very long. But, man, over my boy, man, like we was at NXT together. We both been on the main roster for about four months now. And, man, I got to brag on him because, man, he's taking over and I'm taking over on opposite brands. He on Raw, I'm on SmackDown.
1:05:05You know, he going to be in my wedding and everything, man. He one of my groomsmen. And so the shots were open, man. He was doing his thing. He retired Brock Lesnar tonight. We ain't never seen Brock look so vulnerable. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah.
1:05:19Shannon Sharpe:And he was an athlete also, if I'm not mistaken. I think he threw the shot at Alabama, right? Yeah, he threw the shot at Alabama. Man, he got some records, too. He was a real dog. Oh, yeah. You can see he's explosive. I mean, to be able to throw the shot, you got to be explosive. You do those weight implements, you were explosive. Hey, on. Go ahead. You just heard he tricks. just say you're about to get married, right? Yeah, yeah. Hey, Lash, that's his old lady. I know, I know. I'm just saying. I asked the missus if I could officiate the wedding. You know, I'm... Hey, listen, I'm an ordained minister.
1:05:54I'm a licensed minister, so I married Gary Owens and Breonna and his wife maybe three weeks ago. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Yeah, that was my first wedding. So I'm just saying, if you want to knock down the cost of having to get you someone on the outside to marry you, I can wait I can wait Man I ain't gonna lie Man that would be such an honor To have Ocho Cinco You know what I mean Yeah Hey man She told me that I thought you was playing No no no I'm really You can google it You can youtube it I really did marry him

It depends on how you want to win. You want it serious. You know, you want it funny. There's a multitude of things you can pick from on the mood you want me to bring. See, see. Yeah.
1:06:51Shannon Sharpe:Man, Trick, tell that man you want that thing serious. Your mom, your parents going to be there. Her parents going to be there. They don't want that man out of that mood. Yeah, man, Lash don't play that, man. She a bubbly for real. Yeah, yeah. But I'm ready. I'm ready. I come in there like a politician. so talk about the outfit how did the inspiration come because you know for the outfit the last guy that i mean really like outfits was like rig flair when he coming with the robe it had the nature boy on the back yeah uh uh buddy rich was another uh uh like that and the free birds used to have outfits like that but y 'all it's cold bro how did you come how did you come up and say you know what this is man so i'm gonna tell you exactly how it happened uh my first week on on SmackDown, man, I've been saving his white coat, you know what I mean?
1:07:36Because I just wanted to put something on my ice. I was saving his white coat. Now my shoes are calling my lemon pepper steppers, you know what I'm white with the guy. Yeah, yeah. All white pants, all white, everything. I cut off Sami Zayn in the promo and the crowd was chanting what that trick, had a cool five promo, it was dope. And I came out the next week and I had something totally different on. And then Triple H come to me, he said, he said, where are your coat? I said, you know, it wasn't my coat. It's a coat. You know what I mean? Then Bruce Pritchard come to me. He said, where's your coat?
1:08:11I'm like, man, what y 'all talk about? Man, it's just a coat. I mean, I wore it last week. It's another week. Michael Hayes, where's your coat? And Triple H said, I ain't never seen Elvis Presley without his coat. I get it now, you know? So apparently that coat made an impression on everybody, you know?
1:08:30Shannon Sharpe:Hold on, Michael Hayes, Free Bird, Michael Hayes. You're in the ball. Like I said, hey, Trink, I grew up. You're talking about the Red, now I grew up with that wrestling. If you're from the side, you don't say, they were like, oh, it's wrestling. No, it's wrestling. I'm a wrestling champion. Yeah, the Free Bird, the fabulous Free Bird with Michael Hayes. He was right there. He told me, he's like, man, I ain't never seen Elvis Presley without his coat. I said, okay. This is how we're going to sell them action figures. This is how the kids are going to dress up for Halloween. This is my brand now.
1:09:08Shannon Sharpe:Man. So now you can't, you can't, if you come to the ring, you come to the ring, you got to have the coat on. Hey, like you said, Elvis, James Brown always had a coat. You remember they had to take the coat on James? Yeah. The hardest working man in the show. Man, I wanted to pull off that injury today. It's funny you say that, Shannon. I wanted to rip it off when the beat dropped. but the coat was so heavy because it was that long I ain't nobody gonna be able to put it back on I was like I'm gonna let it yeah, Cabral I was like, man, look how long that train is yeah, 100 yards damn what? yo, yeah, you took that off that ain't getting back on I wanted to pull that James Brown out a lot of people, you know, I got an old soul you know what I mean, I watch that stuff yeah yeah yeah rap are you taking this rap thing real serious man I think rap is taking me serious oh okay you know what I'm saying hey look Ocho I seen you at the battle rap yeah you know I got battle rap I was there I was there a day with DNA and Charlie Clips and all that oh okay okay

How proud is your mom and dad, your family, of what you've just been able to accomplish?
1:11:50Shannon Sharpe:Because think about it. You just got called up four months ago. and you already on WrestleMania. You on Mania. My mama, she was, man, she was there tonight, man. I told everybody she got a knee surgery. She got a knee replacement a month ago. And she's rehabbed. Every single day, she said, baby, I ain't going to miss your first WrestleMania. So we showed a special moment out there. But yeah, man, but you're right, though. Like, I play football, but it's funny, Shannon. I knew since I was a kid I would have dreams about this. I said, I'm going to play in the Super Bowl, and I'm going to perform at halftime.
1:12:21and I don't I didn't know what that meant at the time I just knew I was gonna do it and then as I look at my life now that's exactly what it is like I was always athletic you know I mean but I had more to offer I had to take that helmet off you know me so I could really be myself because when I had a helmet on I was you know I was a soldier you know I was trying to do whatever the coach said you know I mean I was trying to make it to the next level right but when I took that helmet off and I said they said go entertain go be yourself man everything took off so you know it's just a blessing for real.
