In short
Recap and analysis of Spurs vs. Thunder Game 6, setting up a Game 7 where the winner advances to the NBA Finals vs. the New York Knicks. Focus is on Victor Wembanyama’s impact, San Antonio’s defensive/physical approach, and how officiating and shot-making could swing Game 7.
Guests
The episode is hosted by Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson (former NFL Pro Bowler/All-Pro) and Joe Johnson (former NBA player; “ISO”/one-on-one unguardable). No additional sports guests are present in the provided transcript.
Key claims
- Wembanyama’s aggression and offensive production (28 points, 10 rebounds) is the deciding factor; Spurs are “unbeatable” when he scores.
- Spurs’ start and “counter” defense prevented OKC from getting into rhythm; OKC players were consistently negative in plus/minus (Shea -28, Hartenstein -25).
- OKC’s main issue is being held to tough twos and limited free-throw effectiveness; Spurs kept Shea from his normal shot profile.
Notable examples
- Spurs won 118-91; OKC had 18 blocks in Western Conference Finals history tied to Shaq, Tim Duncan, and Wembanyama.
- Castle (17 points, 9 assists, 1 turnover) and Dylan Harper (efficient scoring) are cited as supporting Wembanyama.
- Discussion of Game 7 variables: Spurs protecting the ball, suppressing OKC runs, and officiating consistency.

I think he got up 17, 18 in the first half, Joe. And that was the difference in the ballgame. He came out aggressive. They played extremely, extremely well tonight. I still think they took some shots too early in the shot clock, Joe. I mean, Wimby pulling up threes with 19 seconds on the shot clock. I'm like, Wimby, we don't need that. But I guess he was feeling it. But we have a game seven on Saturday night and the winner.

7:45Shannon Sharpe:Players with 18 blocks in a Western Conference Finals since 2000. Shaq, Tim Duncan, Victor Wimbanyama. Shaq, Tim Duncan, Victor Wimbanyama. Those plus minus in game six. Shea was a minus 28. Isaiah Hartenstein was a minus 25. I thought the difference tonight, Joe, it was the way the Spurs started and they didn't let off the gas. Every time OKC tried to make a move, they had a counter to the move. This is not, we're not going to let this happen today. We're going back. Excuse me. We're going back to OKC for game seven. You better play your best because we're going to be absolutely at our best. I thought the difference was Wimby.
8:29Shannon Sharpe:And Joe, we talked about this. I say, Joe, as much as I love his defense, offensively is where Wimby is the difference.
8:35Chad Johnson:Yep.
8:36Shannon Sharpe:When he scores, they're unbeatable.
8:38Chad Johnson:Unbeatable.
8:39Shannon Sharpe:They're unbeatable. When he gets off to the start, that great start, you go look at him. Now, game one was an anomaly where he only had 14, and then he goes crazy in the second half. But if you go back and look at the game, then he gets 17, 18 in the first half. I think he had 19 in the first half tonight. It's hard. It's hard to deal with him. Go ahead, Ocho. And Unc and Joe, I'm glad both of y 'all are agreeing and saying exactly what I could see before the goddamn, excuse me, before the series started. I told you that Wimby will be the deciding factor on whether this series is won by the Spurs or not.
9:13But y 'all didn't listen. Y 'all went with the MVP two-time at that. So I understand why you picked the team that is previously coming off a championship. But Wimby being the deciding factor. I don't know who got in his ear. I don't know who talked to him. They said 14 shots. That's not enough. We need you to go out here and be aggressive. He was aggressive from the beginning of the game. Everyone else came along as well. He put the ball on the floor. Hey, Joe, he getting to the rack. He's shooting floaters. Yeah. He got a nice little touch on it. He getting the ball on the elbow. Okay, you going to back off me a little bit?
9:49Don't worry about it. I'm going to just hit this midi on you. And he was from the three. Everything was working for him tonight. Obviously, he was doing it on the defensive end as well, which is one of the reasons in which they won tonight's game.
10:04Shannon Sharpe:Also, before you go, Joe, if you look at where he was getting the ball tonight, he was getting that ball a lot closer to the rim tonight than constantly sitting up at the three-point line and getting it out there and trying to make a move. And he was a lot more decisive. You see, hey, one spin, he to the rim, he tried to lay it up with his left hand. Go ahead, Joe.
10:21Chad Johnson:Wimby and Yama, obviously, he's a catalyst, fellas, to everything the Spurs do. I mean, if he plays great, like you said, you're right. They hard as hell to beat, bro. And if he scored a ball, you know, in that first quarter, he made three threes in that first quarter. I said, it's going to open up his game because, you know, when he's making those shots, you have to be honest. Now he can, you know, pump fake, get in the lane, shoot his floater, spray out for three, things of that such. But it got him going. We heard Mitch Johnson say last game, 15 shots wasn't enough. I thought he was so assertive, bro.
10:57Chad Johnson:I thought he was so determined to put his stamp on the game in the first quarter. And once he gets going, it opens up the floor for all these other guys. Everybody. Look at Castle. Castle, five for ten. He only had one turnover tonight. 17 points, five results, nine assists. Then you look at Dylan Harper. You look at Dylan Harper. You know, super efficient. If all three of those three guys play well, I know Fox didn't play well, But if those three guys play well, Castle, Harper, and Wimby Yama, bro, they're going to be tough to beat. But they're at home. We expect for them to play well. Like I said, I didn't think it was no way in hell OKC was going to San Antonio and winning game six, bro.
11:37Chad Johnson:You know, they just were the more desperate team, understanding what was at stake. Man, you weren't going to be able to come in there and get no win.
11:44Shannon Sharpe:No. And I love the way the aggressiveness they played tonight. They rebounded the basketball tonight. They challenged every shot. They got every loose ball, the 50-50 ball, that 85 % that went to OKC. Tonight, it went to San Antonio. And that's the type of effort you're going to have to take on the road. And you see the difference, Joe? You see the difference when every time Shane looks at somebody, they blow the whistle. You see this?
12:12Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.
12:13Shannon Sharpe:You see the difference? When he's shooting three, four free throws. Now, he's going to shoot a shot and fall.
12:19Chad Johnson:Yeah.
12:20Shannon Sharpe:If I didn't know better hell, I thought the snipers had got it. I'm like, damn, bro, can you stay up? Why you keep falling every time you shoot the ball? He like one of them fighting goats. I'm like, well, damn. And look at this. They are having free throws. 12 free throws tonight. They were level to 12, 92%. The other team, if you can keep them off the line and they don't call every time because Shae's going to sell everything. He have a store that sells everything. He doesn't have a, all I sell is veggies. All I sell is couches. That Joe would sell auto parts. He sell couches. He sell hedges.
12:56Shannon Sharpe:He sell pro. It doesn't matter. But notice tonight, Uncle Joe, as physical as the game was, the ref held the whistle a little bit. The ref let the boys play ball tonight. They should. The game of basketball is physical. The game of basketball in the playoffs is even that much more physical. Now we've seen the ref be a little whistle happy. Tonight, he let them boys play until the fouls were egregious and you have no choice but to call it.
13:25Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, and you got to get San Antonio a lot of credit, bro. They never let none of them OKC guys get into a rhythm. No. You know what I mean? Hey, hey, them boys guard, they physical. Like I said, man, they came home, did what they were supposed to do. Y 'all ain't coming up in here and getting no damn win. No, you're not celebrating on our court. Oh, no, sir. No, sir. It won't happen today.
13:50Shannon Sharpe:Man, that was a thing of beauty to watch. It was really a thing of beauty to watch. I thought the guys played extremely well. Yeah, you're right, Joe. Fox did not have the greatest offensive game, but if you look at everybody else. And what we say the difference was, Wimby has to cancel out those two Bs. Yep. Ten points for Hartenstein, ten points for Chet, 16 rebounds. Wemby, 28 points, 10 rebounds.
14:20Chad Johnson:He won.
14:21Shannon Sharpe:Now everybody else we can play. I've taken out two guys, I've taken them. Okay, now Castle, Vassell, Harper, your guys are responsible for Chet and the next two guys.
14:35Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, if I'm the head coach for OKC, just like Mitch said that Wimby and Yama 15 shot attempts wasn't enough. Yes, sir. Man, check Homery. He got eight shot attempts, fellas. Four for eight. I mean, damn.
14:53Shannon Sharpe:He ain't even looking at the basket.
14:55Chad Johnson:When Wimby on him, he ain't thinking about no damn basket. He ain't, bro. He ain't. You got to go at that man, bro. You got to go. Look.
15:01Shannon Sharpe:See, you trying to get embarrassed, Joe. You think you slick. That man throw the ball up in the stands, and then you going to come over here to my A. Ocho, you saw what Wimby did to Chet?
15:13Chad Johnson:Man, listen, bro, hey, somebody got to come along, bro, and assert themselves, man. But, hey, I felt it would be a lopsided win. I mean, San Antonio, they just understand. I know they're a young team, but being at home, they've been probably the second best team all year. And, bro, this game seven is going to be a dogfight. Oh, my. It is. Yeah, listen, it's going to be a dogfight. And, obviously, I'm sure you, I mean, with both of you, obviously picking the Thunder to win this series, can the Spurs mustered up one more time? Can we get an aggressive, aggressive Wimping Yama on both sides of the court?
15:54Offensively, defensively. Can he continue to move, being able to play off the ball, being able to get the ball where he wants to, on the elbow, down in the block? With Shep being as ineffective as he is offensively and not asserting himself in the game, if we can hold Shea to another game like he did tonight, where he really wasn't much of a factor on the offense end.
Read the full transcript
16:16Shannon Sharpe:He's really never a factor, Ocho. It's the free throws. You go back and look at what is Shea shooting in this? Ocho, he probably shooting 40 % for a guy that shot 53%. So they're holding him somewhere between 13 % and 15 % of what he averaged in the regular season. They're doing an unbelievable job, but it's just hard to keep somebody under 20 points when they go to the free throw line 17 times. because he makes 14, 15 of them, that's 15 points. It is hard to keep him from making at least six shots because he's going to get the ball up somewhere between 18 and 24 times in a game. So if he just makes six of those plus another 14, 15 points in the free throw line, that's 27 right there.
16:59Shannon Sharpe:He makes eight of those, that's 30. He's shooting less than 40 % from the floor. He's shooting 39%. Oh, my goodness. But you got to understand, OKC, they're going to play a lot better at home.
17:14Chad Johnson:You know, the thing for San Antonio, bro, if they make shots, hell, they hard to beat. But, you know, when you go into them low, especially on the road, and you got Champagne and Vassell who don't, you know, shoot the ball as great. Yeah. And you need Wimby and Yama to be heroic. It's just, it's a lot, bro, on the road. You know, that's the thing. If they making shots, they're a damn good team. But if they ain't making shots, Arcan Ocho, on the road, it's going to be hard to win, bro.
17:39Shannon Sharpe:The question is, the problem that they have is that the Spurs are going to have to suppress those runs. They cannot let them score 60 points in the half. They can't let them get to the 60, 65, Joe. That's too much. That's too much. Look at the game. I mean, there's been a couple of games they've held them under 100. They got 94. They got 91 tonight. What did they get the other night? They got, what, 82, 83?
18:04Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
18:06Shannon Sharpe:But it's because they had him in the 40s, the 50s.
18:10Chad Johnson:Yeah.
18:10Shannon Sharpe:If we keep – the other night they had him at 31 before Wimby hit that half-court shot. He had 38 points at the half. Tonight what did they have? 50. What did they have? What did OKC have at the half? Maybe 50? Yeah. 53 to 60, something like that? You got to – but see, they run into a problem. you start letting them get 60 65 touching that 70 yeah nah that's too many they don't get now they don't got into a rhythm and again it's still a make or miss lead joe it is guys had some of the same shots that they were knocking down the other night they missed yeah they missed that's why that's what you're gonna have to have you're gonna have to have play outstanding defense but you're gonna have to have some of those guys miss some of those shots that they made in games uh uh five same thing with the Spurs.
19:02Shannon Sharpe:Some of the shots that they missed the other night, they knocked down tonight. Wimby, 10 rebounds. Look, I'll give OKC credit. They're doing a great job keeping them off the glass, Joe. If you think about it now, they're fighting him. Putting the body on his ass. They get a lot of holes. Hey, you see the referee? No, we got to stay here. Man, let the man go. Damn! Hey, you know what plays a big factor too in that joke? What's that? You know, you see how the refs wave as a whole of Wilson, letting them boys play ball tonight. That's going to be key. When they go back to OKC, I think the refs are going to play a big factor.
19:40They always do. The refs are going to play a big factor, especially with Shade not getting some of the calls he won tonight. You know, some of the failing in the shot, some of the shot selections that he did have tonight, and he was probably looking for a foul and it wasn't called. Those are going to be called once they're playing back at home. So the refs are going to be a factor in this game. And I'm hoping, I'm hoping the Spurs can do what they can defensively and try to contain him as much as they can. If you can't contain him, obviously he's going to make his shots. He's going to get to the free throw line, obviously playing at home.
20:10Can you contain everybody else?
20:13Shannon Sharpe:Well, you will know early on, Joe, how they're going to call the game. Yeah. And then you're going to have to adjust accordingly. You can't let, hey, they calling it early. You can't get mad in the second half that they're calling it the same way in the second half that they did in the first half. You're going to have to adjust. And look, I'm going to make them call. Look, if I'm Coach Johnson, I'm telling you, look, guys, I don't need you to be aggressive. Play your game. We're going to see. Let's see how they call the game. Let's make them call a couple of them before we back off a little.
20:45Chad Johnson:Yeah.
20:45Shannon Sharpe:But until they call it.
20:48Chad Johnson:You got to keep – you got to be physical. Look, hey, everybody for the Spurs was a plus tonight. Nobody had a plus. Everybody. everybody for OKC here was a negative.
20:58Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
20:59Chad Johnson:You know what I mean?
20:59Shannon Sharpe:And hell, they would have shot. If Fox doesn't go one for nine, hell, they might shoot. Joe, they might shoot over 50 % because you got four of eight. Wemby was a tick under 50%, 10 of 21. You got four of seven, five of 10, two of four, two of three, one of two, four of seven, one of two, six of nine. So like I said, and Cornette gave us a couple of rebounds tonight. Yeah, he did. They didn't get our rebounder tonight, Joe. No, they didn't. They didn't. But you know what I love, Joe? Them jokers clashing the board. So you see OKC, they try to get Tim. Bam! Uh-uh! No, no, you get nothing cheap.
21:36Chad Johnson:Nothing cheap tonight, baby. Hey, them boys athletic, man, for saying that, Tony. My thing, Uncle Ojo, can they duplicate a performance like this on the road, bro, in a game seven? I'm not sure. You know, I think Wimby can be great. But due to him getting off to such a hot shooting start, you know, I think it kind of opened up the game for him and his teammates. I just don't know if they could duplicate a performance like this on the road, bro.
22:03Shannon Sharpe:But I can tell you. Wimby going to be fresh, though. He only played 28 minutes. You got Champagne in 25, Wimby 28, Fox 26, Vassell 26. Castle played the most minutes. I didn't know Castle was from the crib. You didn't know that? Yeah, he from Newton County.
22:18Chad Johnson:Yeah, that's why I was telling you. uh hey that's why i like it that's why i like castle hey hey because that i was thinking about that last series when they was playing minnesota him and man was going at it you know that's that's that's a little georgia thing right there but okay they they they definitely got the talent man they they actually got the talent uncle ojo to to win an nba championship i just don't know if they're gonna be able to go on okc on with a game seven and beat them boys i i don't see that because okc
22:49Shannon Sharpe:has been in game sevens before. That's okay. They won NBA finals in a game seven. Yeah. The Western Conference finals in a game seven. They've been there. They've done that. They're battle tested. And sometimes it takes you a year because remember, they were favored to beat the Mavs.
23:06Chad Johnson:Yeah.
23:06Shannon Sharpe:They were a year away. They come back, learn from what they, the mistakes that they made in the previous year and went through. Go ahead. Hey Jonas is available now and their first guest is a big one, Paul Rudd.
26:03You know, Steve Carell is a great singer. Can you tell you not to audition at The Office or something? I told him. Whoa. We were filming Anchorman. Clearly I was the idiot. Thank God he didn't listen to me, right? Listen to Hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends, we help make you funnier. On this episode, my guests Bob Odenkirk and Kids in the Hall's Bruce McCullough try and help the Kazoo Kid and Tazan Day be famous again. What if there's an alternate universe show where you guys are incredibly popular? Well, and they could travel up the land doing meet and greets.
26:40They're constantly needed at malls. Listen to Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Show what you want. I was going to tell y 'all, they're going to go and they're going to do it. The Spurs are going to win game seven, Joe. You say you don't know if they can do what they just did tonight. I'm telling you ahead of time, they're going to be able to do it. If you understand the game of basketball, which you should. I'm ashamed of you. I'm ashamed of both of y 'all with the ball knowledge that you guys have over the years.
27:10Joe, you played the game at the highest level. and the fact that I've proven all of you wrong all series long, not just this series, all the previous series before this. And the fact that – Man, here you go. Don't try to get on the bandwagon now, Joe. Hey, hey. Let me finish. I'm talking. Let me finish. Y 'all get on here. You pray to Spurs about the way they played tonight, and then you come right back behind that after praying to Spurs saying, I don't think they can do any games except in the OKC.
27:36Chad Johnson:Well, hey, Ojo, I'm just keeping it 100, bro. You know, this is just my observation. This is what I see. Yes, sir. I didn't think OKC could win in San Antonio in this game six. You know, understanding, you know, Spurs is going to play a lot better at home. Yes, sir. Those guys, you look at Champagne, you look at Vassell. Yeah, that's 22 points amongst those two. Six threes, like they were making shots. When they make shots, they're going to be tough as hell to beat. I just don't think they can go on OKC in a game seven and everybody put up a performance like this. I don't see that.
28:13Shannon Sharpe:Even if they don't, Joe, look at the big difference. Vassell, Castle, nine assists, one turnover. De 'Aaron Fox, seven assists, zero turnovers. Champagny, two assists, one turnover. Dylan Harper, four assists, one turnover. even if they don't score. I just don't want you to turn the ball over and give them easy buckets in transition and get them into a rhythm.
28:42Chad Johnson:Yes.
28:42Shannon Sharpe:The likelihood, Joe, you're right. The likelihood of those guys going, let's see, that's nine for 17. That's 13 for 25. Champagny, Vassell, Castle shot over 50%. Those three guys. Those guys made six. They made six of 13, six of 15, three. And then your Dylan Harper was tremendous tonight. Dylan Harper was two of three. Man. Six of nine from the floor. If they don't turn the ball over, if you go back and look at the Spurs, when they get in trouble, they turn the ball over in bunches. And it's not just, it's not one here and then four or five positions later, it's a turnover, it's a turnover, it's a turnover.
29:27Shannon Sharpe:Because they had three in succession in the first half, Joe, like just like this. Yeah. Yeah. I said, come on, guys.
29:34Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, hey. And you got to get OKC credit, man. Like we've been saying, these are two great defensive teams, probably two best defensive teams in the NBA if we're just keeping it real. And I think OKC, obviously, we know they thrive off turnovers, but they're going to play a lot better in this game seven at home, fellas. Yeah. They're going to play a lot better.
29:54Shannon Sharpe:But I think the biggest difference between OKC, what we saw in OKC tonight, and OKC in game seven is the ability to make those shots.
30:02Chad Johnson:Man. That's the thing, Joe.
30:04Shannon Sharpe:I mean, come on now. But Shea, Joe, Shea's shooting right now, he's shooting 38%. He's shooting 38%. Without the free souls, huh? Yes.
30:16Chad Johnson:They got him bottled up, man. They making him, like I told y 'all, man, they making him take and make these tough-ass twos, and it's just challenging. And then you see him try to shoot these long threes that's just not his game bro no you know his game is getting get into his spots pulling up middies getting to the rack and with with san antonio here with wimbi with wimbi yama down there you ain't getting to no damn rack no you you know i'm saying yeah you gonna you ain't gonna be able to shoot your normal shots you know i'm saying like you gotta shoot you gotta put a little more touch on it you gotta shoot a little farther out like i think they're doing a great job in playing and guarding him.
30:55Chad Johnson:I'm giving a lot of credit to Castle and the crew who's taking the challenge and being like, look, I don't need a whole lot of damn help. I'm going to keep him in front. I'm going to challenge him. I'm going to make him take tough shots. And they've done that all series long, bro. They're a hell of a defensive team.
31:12Shannon Sharpe:Look, anytime they see Wimby down there, everybody from OKC, when they see Wimby in the paint, they have a John Q moment. They have a change of heart. They do. Hey, I'm going to the real. Nah, I'm good. Come on. Hey, hey. Yeah. Everybody going home. Hey, when Wimby go out, they see Cornette. Come on, guys. Come on. Come on. Let's go. Thanks. They see Wimby. Slow it down.
31:39Chad Johnson:Yes, sir.
31:40Shannon Sharpe:Because that ain't what you want.
31:42Chad Johnson:No. No.
31:44Shannon Sharpe:I mean, they do a great job of trying to shield him off. You know, they try to block him off when somebody's trying to drive the ball so he can't get to it. But when he slips around... Hey, he's going to send it right into the stands. They throw it right back out.
31:58Chad Johnson:He too much, bro. He too much. He is the human cheat code. And when he has it going, fellas, when he's making shots, knocking down them long threes, getting to the basket, being decisive in his moves, okay, Ocho, I ain't going to lie to you. They're a hell of a team, bro. They're a hell of a team.
32:16Shannon Sharpe:But I thought sometime tonight, Joe, they had him bottled up and they helped a little bit too much and he kicked for an open three. It's okay. Look, if he gonna make those tough shots, I understand our defense is set up. When there's an opportunity, he comes close. Let's double him. There are some situations like that where he ain't have it going. Let's not over. Because sometimes you can overreact.
32:42Chad Johnson:Yeah.
32:42Shannon Sharpe:And I thought tonight there were a couple occasions, not many, because I thought San Antonio was exemplary tonight. But I did think there were a couple occasions just watching the game, Joe, that they overreacted, and he was able to kick for some wide-open threes. Yeah, I agree.
32:56Chad Johnson:I agree.
32:57Shannon Sharpe:And the difference is on the road three and at home three, the crowd is going to go crazy. Man. That crowd is going to be in a frenzy. Yeah. And teams feed off that. They feed off that. Yeah. And the question is, when they start to go and they go on a little run, they go on a 5-0 run, they go on a 7-0 run, can you remain calm?
33:17Chad Johnson:You're right, right.
33:19Shannon Sharpe:Can you remain calm and be unbothered? Yeah, yeah. Hey, y 'all gonna be real upset. But when game seven, huh? When game seven? Saturday.
33:29Chad Johnson:Saturday. Saturday? Y 'all gonna be mad. Let me tell you how good Saturday gonna be though. Huh? You hear me? Talk to me. Saturday, not only let me tell you what we got Saturday. We got game seven Saturday, right? Yes. We got to fight Foster and Ray Ford Saturday too. I know you into boxing. I don't know how much you love boxing. Yeah, I like boxing. Let me tell you what else we got Saturday. What's that? We got the Champions League final Saturday too. We got so much stuff to talk about. Listen, the icing on the cake is the boxing match.
34:05Shannon Sharpe:I like bunt cakes. The who? I like bunt cakes. Like B-U-T-T?
34:12Chad Johnson:Oh, here you go. hey hey i promise you i promise you i'm not even playing around i've never heard any anything called butt cake b-u-b-u-t-t or b-u-n-t which one that that must be something that must be something i've never heard of that before hey joe you ever heard of bunky not his man chat not his man ain't never heard of a bun cake huh no i i ain't never i don't don't lie i ain't never heard of it but i I didn't think he was saying butt cake. I didn't think he was saying. I mean, my point exactly. If you've never heard of it, bunt cake, the first thing you think is butt because you've heard butt all the time.
34:48Chad Johnson:It depends on what you. B-U-N-D-T, bunt. Oh, butt. Hey, I ain't never heard of that. And I don't really like that. Let me go. Hey, when you're a big freak, you know, you have a tendency to hear things.
35:00Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you hear things. Everything that you hear is basically in a sexual connotation. There you go. You're right, Joe. My bad, my bad. I should have been a little bit more specific. There you go. Listen, we were talking about cake and you know people refer to that as cake also. Yeah, my bad. That's on me. That's not on you because that was an honest mistake. That's an honest mistake. Ain't nothing honest about you. You just heard Joe say he never heard of that as well. So therefore the first thing when you when I hear B, I think of but. We already know. We already know what you're thinking about.
35:36Shannon Sharpe:But I didn't say nothing about no but. I said bunt. Yeah, but it's harmless on my part being that I know they are nothing harmless about you Joe you said it yourself. You never heard that so but what you mean ain't no such thing as a bun cake
35:53Shannon Sharpe:You probably just didn't know what it was called just Google bun cake so you can see what it looks like you can say Yeah, I don't have one of those I If I had some before I remember the name of it. I've never heard no you wouldn't I promise you You know what? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm man enough to say...
36:11Chad Johnson:Okay, what's that, like a little pound cake or something? Yes, yes. You ain't just say pound cake, man! Because it's not a...
36:19Shannon Sharpe:And you see he trying to give us the scientific word. Pound cake! See what I'm saying, Chad? This is what I got to deal with. Just say pound cake! And yo, he trying to be fancy. now they start do they drizzle do drizzle frosting yeah yeah most of the time pound cakes do not bunk cakes and for the longest time i don't remember when i was growing up ever seeing a bun cake with frosting but now they've you know they've come a long way they add spice it up they put frosting they drizzle frosting on the top of a bun cake yeah but there you go hey hey okay um just say listen they put drizzle on the top of pound cake if you're saying pound cake i'd be You know what, my grandma used to love pound cake.
37:06He used to always get pound cake from Publix.
37:09Chad Johnson:Hey. Oh. Hey, when they used to make them pound cakes at the house, they tell you don't be stomping and making it. And make it fall.
37:20Chad Johnson:And make it fall. That's right.
37:22Shannon Sharpe:Hey, boy, get your ass somewhere, sit down and go outside. Man, you make that cake fall when you want to. Boy, granny, boy, Barry Porter gonna have your ass. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I know exactly what you're talking about, Joe. This is Martha Stewart from the Martha Stewart Podcast. Ever wonder how to make hosting look effortless? Here's a secret. 40:13Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, Nick? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. First people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with the name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking, originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers.
40:48This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, Hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. On Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends, we help make you funnier. On this episode, my guests Bob Odenkirk and Kids in the Hall's Bruce McCullough try and help the Kazoo Kid and Tay-Zan Day be famous again.
41:25What if there's an alternate universe show where you guys are incredibly popular? Well, and they could travel up the land doing meet and greets. They're constantly needed at malls. Listen to Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
41:43Shannon Sharpe:This segment is brought to you by Tommy John's, where comfort is the new power move. Tonight's power move was by Wemby, who was asked why the Spurs are built for big moments. He responded, I can't answer why. We just are. But we ain't done nothing yet. We did what we needed to do, trusted the game, trusted the basketball gods.
42:03Chad Johnson:Man, listen, the boy's special. I ain't gonna lie to y 'all.
42:06Shannon Sharpe:I think for me, when he's assertive
42:09Chad Johnson:and he makes it to where you have to double him, Like you say, I thought OKC got a little overzealous tonight and bringing the double too fast sometimes. But he going to pick you apart, bro. He going to make the right play. He's rarely going to do something out of character. You know, yeah, we talk about a lot of them long threes, his ass be shooting. But, man, if he making them, hey, and he got it going, it's hard to slow him down. There ain't nothing Hardenstein and Check can do. When he out there dribbling, getting into his rhythm, it ain't nothing they can do, bro.
42:40Shannon Sharpe:But see, Joe, when he sets up a little closer, it's easier for him to get to the assist because now the double team has to come because he's much closer to the basket. And so now he's able to find because he's so tall, he can pass right corner, left corner, or when they come from wherever the double team comes, he knows who's guarding who. He knows where the double team come. Now I can find the open guy. But when he's setting up at the three-point line, when he's got a guy on his back and he's 26 feet away, I ain't bringing no damn double team, Joe.
43:09Chad Johnson:Hell no. Nah. Nah, I think the closer he is to the basket, it's better for him because one dribble, hell, he at the rim, fellas. He ain't got to take no more than one dribble. All he take is one power dribble. He's going to his move, whether it's a spin or he's going to attack his man. He at the rim. Hell, you ain't blocking it. Yeah. You ain't blocking it, bro.
43:31Shannon Sharpe:Did you see him tonight, Joe? They gave him on the fast break. That Joe took one dribble from the top of the key and shot a little floater. I mean, from the three, he took one dribble from the three-point line. And was that the damn rim?
43:46Chad Johnson:Hey, you don't see. I like the floater that he shot in the lane. You don't see guys that big, bro. No. Who have that type of touch. He has a nice touch for a guy who's 7 '5". I'm talking about he can virtually do any and everything on the court. If he is making shots, he is impossible. to guard. Impossible. He is.
44:12Shannon Sharpe:And plus the thing is, Joe, the problem that OKC is having is that he's resting on defense. Yeah. Because nobody will challenge him. Nope. Chet don't want no, Chet is not even looking at the damn basket and Wimby's on him.
44:27Chad Johnson:He ain't, bro. He ain't.
44:28Shannon Sharpe:He's looking to hand off.
44:31Chad Johnson:You're right, you're right. I'm like, well damn, John Elway. Hey, hey, hey, he don't want that smoke. What he supposed to do with that damn boy? that boy slapping that ball back in his face when he's trying to shoot. Exactly. Exactly.
44:43Shannon Sharpe:And that is the problem. When you got somebody like that, Joe, you can't let him use all his resources on the offensive end. You got to zap some of that out of him.
44:57Chad Johnson:It's just hard, man. It is. Like, I agree with you. And that's why I talk about check a lot, meaning like if he can make that next step, OKC will be a dynasty. but damn, he ain't even he's not being assertive enough to even get him a real fighting chance on the road, bro. I hope he takes the initiative in game seven to come out guns a-blazing, going at his man. Hey man, this is it. This is to go back to the finals. You gotta lock in, partner. You can lock in all you want. You think the Spurs ain't finna lock in? You think we not finna go into the Thunders home and wipe our feet on the rug? You don't think that's what's going to happen?
45:38You don't think they feel the same way?
45:41Shannon Sharpe:I think the thing is that, look, and I never diminished winning a championship, but there have been a lot of teams that's won one in a row. You're trying to be special. You're trying to be thought of as historically great teams. Joe, you've got to go back to back. You've got to go. I mean, obviously, the three-piece are so rare. It doesn't happen that often. You've got Shaq and Kobe Lakers. You've got Jordan did it twice. and then you got the Celtics that won eight in a row. But it doesn't happen often. That's why you look at, I mean, even the repeats is rare because you have to run the gauntlet because the last season is so different than this season and you get injuries.
46:21Shannon Sharpe:And that's the thing is to be able to withstand those injuries.
46:27Chad Johnson:And you're the standard. You have a target on your back. Like, everybody, you're going to get everybody's best game, you know, when you're the champion. You're the measuring stick, Joe. Yeah, that's it. We're going to see what we stack up against the champs, and we're going to see what happens. So I think it's hard, man. It's hard to go back-to-back, obviously. Yeah. I think due to the bullseye that's on your back and teams chasing you, trying to knock you off your pedestal. So we'll see if OKC got it, bro. We'll see what they got game seven. I'm rooting for them. Hopefully they come through.
47:00Shannon Sharpe:because you know what I tell them? Because everybody that you played, you're the measuring stick, and they say, see, that's the team. They're the defending champs. They got the two-time league MVP, and we just beat them. You see, when we lock in like that, when we're attentive to what we need to tend to, when we take care of our business, we can beat anybody in this league. So you get measured by all of that. Yeah, yeah. See, you don't get to have an off game. You better be on your best behavior because everybody is looking at you. They circle that, oh, man, the champs come to town. Yeah. That is the difference from being, from hunting to being hunted.
47:41Chad Johnson:Yeah,
47:43Shannon Sharpe:right now, OKC, they're being hunted.
47:46Chad Johnson:Yeah.
47:47Shannon Sharpe:They're no longer hunters. They were chased, they were after something last year.
47:53Chad Johnson:Yeah.
47:53Shannon Sharpe:And it's hard to stay, it's hard because you've got to be on your best behavior every single game because you're going to get everybody's best shot. Everybody – because they measure. You the quarterback, the quarterback going against Sancho. Man, if I can get – hey, I get me a couple of PBUs. Hey, I get me a pick. Man, people are going to look at me different. Hey, I hold Joe to five, ten points up on his average. Okay, people go – hey, that's how they look at it.
48:20Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Somebody blocked Jordan's shot when Jordan's second year in the league.
48:28Shannon Sharpe:He telling his grandkid, man, that joker went up to take a shot. Man, I threw that thing in the stands. Now it was just a tip. But you know, hey, the one thing we're going to do as we start to age, we're going to add yeast to something. We're going to make it grow. Exaggerate it. Exaggerate it. We're going to make it grow. Oh, yeah.
48:46Chad Johnson:Oh, yeah. We don't mind embellishing something and make it sound a whole lot better than really what it was.
48:52Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I planted a pine tree. But when I tell the story, it's a redwood. It's redwood, Joe. That thing, damn.
49:02Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah.
49:05Shannon Sharpe:But my thing is, when I watch San Antonio and watching them in the playoffs, catching them here and there because I wanted to see Wimby, when they don't turn the ball over, Joe, I don't give a damn who they play or where they play. They are a very, very, very difficult team to beat. When they turn the ball over, they become very, very average, Joe.
49:28Chad Johnson:Yep, yep. That's just the way it is. And on the road, on the road, with this young San Antonio team, I don't know if they're going to duplicate a performance or where they take care of the ball like this tonight. I mean, pretty much, Fox didn't have no turnovers. Castle, y 'all know hell, he probably averaging eight, nine turnovers.
49:48Shannon Sharpe:He averaged about five a game. How many of the turnover was capsule averaging about it? But he had 20, and then he had another game. So he's averaging at least five.
49:58Chad Johnson:Yeah. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. He's averaging five. He's had games. He's had nine. But what did he have tonight? He had one. He had one. He can repeat this. One more game. That's all it is. Can you protect the game one more time? Can you protect the ball one more time? I'm sure. I'm sure everything we're talking about, coaches in their locker room telling them, fellas, fellas, even though we're going to their home court, in their stadium, arena, excuse me, it's basketball, it's called arena. Can we duplicate what we did tonight? Ain't no pressure. Ain't no pressure. And I don't like the fact that I don't say, you know, the Spurs are chasing the Thunder.
50:38I don't like that. I know the Thunder may be the measuring stick, and the Spurs ain't paying that no mind. They already knew coming in. Man, this is our series. I told you how it would play out, and it's playing out exactly how I said it was. Well, listen. Don't listen, Joe. The only reason it's going to game seven is because the NBA got bills to pay.
50:57Chad Johnson:No, no, no. That ain't why. It's going game seven because you got two teams battling their ass off. Two very good teams. Yeah, yeah. But I think home court advantage will play a major part in this.
51:09Shannon Sharpe:Yes, sir.
51:10Chad Johnson:Yeah, it definitely will. Definitely will.
51:12Shannon Sharpe:I see y 'all don't want to listen. We're going to find out. Is it going to be Scott Foster? He can't extend it no more, Joe. Is it going to be Ed Beloy?
51:26Chad Johnson:I don't know, man. Hey, what Tony? Is it going to be Mott? Tony Brothers can't do it again tonight, huh?
51:33Shannon Sharpe:No, Tony called a ref the other day. He might. I don't know. Zach had it tonight. I don't know if it's going to be Josh Tibbs. They should be able to choose who they want the ref, man. Hey, hold on.
51:44Chad Johnson:The question is, if you're the New York Knicks, who do you want to play? I mean, if you ask them, they're probably going to say it don't matter. But realistically, who would you want to play if you're the Knicks?
51:57Shannon Sharpe:I think all things being equal, I think they'd probably say San Antonio. You think so? Why? Because they're young? They're young. They beat them. They feel they got the recipe. They blew them out into what you call them, the NBA Cup.
52:09Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that NBA Cup in a seven-game series is completely different. So you think about, you know, it all comes down to matchups, huh?
52:18Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Down to matchups. How well can they defend in having to deal with Wemby? Well, I feel they got too big body they can throw at it. Yeah, I think they would prefer playing the Thunder, even though that won't be the team they're playing in the finals. I think they would prefer, I think it would be a better matchup for them stylistically, you know, the Knicks playing the Thunder. but I mean obviously they're gonna have to play the Spurs either way.
52:42Chad Johnson:I just think the Spurs are a different team from the last time the Knicks played in that cup. You know, but obviously both teams are different here. I just think.
52:53Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. Knicks are playing extremely well. I mean, Joe, last 11 games, the way they beating the hell out of people, Joe.
53:07I mean.
53:07Chad Johnson:I know, man.
53:08Shannon Sharpe:We crack jokes about Atlanta. They blew the 76ers out. They blew the Cavaliers out. They're probably in the last 11 games, they probably average margin of victory. Might be damn near 20 points a game.
53:23Chad Johnson:You're absolutely right.
53:24Shannon Sharpe:Or more.
53:25Chad Johnson:Yeah, they been dog walking folk. Yes, it ain't even been close.
53:29Shannon Sharpe:It's been interesting.
53:32Chad Johnson:That ain't gonna happen in this finals fellas. No. I'm sorry.
53:37Shannon Sharpe:When you beat somebody and make them quit, they beat teams and make them quit. They made them quit. Made them just like, you know what? Damn, we got another 30 minutes. Let's try to make this look good.
53:49Chad Johnson:Yeah, because they beat you by committee, bro. They got a lot of guys, you know, who chip in and been playing great basketball. Obviously, Brunson has been great. But I think their whole team has been, you know, hitting on all cylinders. Hell, they swept their last two rounds. Them folks ain't even had no tests here. Yes. I'm glad you said, too. So what do you think happened in the finals? Matter of fact, I'm just going to be honest with you. With all due respect to the Spurs and how they look, you know, the series, I mean, Nixon's six. You hear me? Oh, man. Nixon's six. I'm telling you right now, New York City is going to be turned upside down.
54:28I'm telling you ahead of time. I hope NYPD, I hope the fire department in New York, They are ready for what is going to happen after game six. Knicks and six. Now, don't get out here and saying all these excuses on why it happened or what they didn't do and why the Knicks were able to win. I'm telling you ahead of time. If you're a betting man, if you're a betting man, if you're in debt and you need to make up some money, Knicks and six.
54:52Chad Johnson:I don't want you to be right, Ocho. I ain't going to lie to you. Joe, you ain't want me to be right the entire playoffs. and I've been right the entire time. And the fact that you still believe.
55:05Shannon Sharpe:Ochoa, right now, the sportsbook would have the Knicks as underdogs versus either team. That's fine. The sportsbook don't know shit. You hear me? Western Conference team, yeah, both teams have home court advantage. Sportsbook don't know ball like me. All I know is they keep bringing that lost and lost some money.
55:31Chad Johnson:Yeah, hello.
55:33Shannon Sharpe:Dale, I ain't never seen nobody build a$7 billion house with winner's money. Hey, I'm with you when you're right.
55:45Chad Johnson:Damn.
55:46Shannon Sharpe:Man, Todd Lawson had a hell of a tweet today, guys. He said, four things I would rather do than be a Thunder fan. Check this out. Number one, I'd rather play hide and go seek with Jeffrey Dahmer and an abandoned Chuck E. Cheese. What? Be a T-mood parachute tester. I'd rather stick my meat in a blender. What? And last but not least, he said I'd rather look a party party and see that Coachella. Coachella?
56:20Chad Johnson:He got a chill. He got a chill.
56:24Shannon Sharpe:He said y 'all some losers. Hey, is this AI or did he really tweet this out? It's real. That man said he'd rather lick a porta potty toilet seat at Coachella. Hey, boy, you know how nasty that is at Coachella? Boy, he might die on the spot. Damn. Yeah, I know. First of all, man, porta potty, Lord have mercy.
56:51Chad Johnson:Oh, man.
56:52Shannon Sharpe:But can you imagine that Coachella? 15 ,000 answers. 15 ,000 answers. Aw.
56:57Chad Johnson:Aw, man, come on, come on. God dang. Hey, why that man say that, man? He say that's what he'd rather do than be a Thunder fan.
57:06Shannon Sharpe:Wow. What's with his disliking for the Thunder? He say, y 'all some losers. How? Don't get me to start with that. I don't know. I don't know where this ain't come from. What's High Lawson played at, Joe? He played in Denver. He played with the Nuggets. He went to UNC, won the national championship with the Tar Heels. Yeah. Why does he hate the Thunder so much?
57:28Chad Johnson:I have no idea, Ocho. It don't even make sense. They had a lot of fans. It gotta be a backstory to it. Not like this, not like this. So where you put this up there, come on, man. You gonna lick a damn port-a-potter at Coachella? Yeah, that's crazy. Sticky Johnson in a blender? Come on, man.
57:45Shannon Sharpe:Hey. Joe, why you bull-jibing? There are some people that hate people worse than that. Ooh, yeah.
57:54Chad Johnson:damn damn that's crazy that's just that's not even crazy joke that sound more personal than anything i don't know why though i don't know why yeah it's a backstory long as long as you
58:08Shannon Sharpe:don't eat a drink that's from jeffrey dharma you're gonna be okay
58:14You drink some of this, Goodnight Irene. Hey, he said it abandoned Chuck E. Cheese at that.
58:24Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I got what you call it. I got, you know, I got one of them old restaurant style blenders. You know, I'm trying to hold on to you. I'm trying to hold on to it. You know?
58:41Chad Johnson:Yeah. I ain't gonna rise about 10 more summers,
58:43Shannon Sharpe:so I ain't gonna do nothing to harm it.
58:46Chad Johnson:You don't use it?
58:49Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, I use it.
58:50Chad Johnson:Yeah.
58:52Shannon Sharpe:I was talking about, you know, the baby arm, Joe.
58:54Chad Johnson:Oh, okay, okay, all right.
58:56Shannon Sharpe:I said, it ain't gonna rise about 10 more summers. I think I got 10 more summers in it. And if you got the pasture. Oh, I used a blender. I bought me some collagen protein powder today, Joe.
59:11Chad Johnson:Oh, did you? Collagen good for you, aunt? I know. Wait, so who? I know. Ocho don't even buy no damn collagen. I used to take a lot of it when I played. Hey, Joe. Here y 'all go. Talking about stuff I don't know nothing about. First, it was the pill.
59:27Shannon Sharpe:Well, you don't know nothing about no butt kick, so I know you don't know about no damn collagen. Hold on. Now we talk about collagen. Now, what does collagen do for you? Skin, hair, nails. What can it do for me? Skin, hair, nails. Oh, hey, you know my skin nice now. Yeah. I mean, I'm just saying, like, my baby, when she touched my skin, she said when she touched my skin, it feel like infant. You know, when you touch a baby and I saw her baby heels?
59:51Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. That's how my skin is. I don't know. I ain't got no blemishes. Yeah. What'd you say, Unc? It ain't what? You can't grow no hair, though.
1:00:01Shannon Sharpe:maybe that's why my skin's so soft because i can't grow no hair it should be the follicle
1:00:05Chad Johnson:should be able to break through oh no yes it's all over with it yeah that thing said like a road's trying to go through concrete ain't happening hey honestly i think i could and
1:00:16Shannon Sharpe:i told you you cannot the reason i had this conversation though i know you bet me that i couldn't grow no beard you tell my your man your thing it won't connect it's gonna be all splotchy I know, but mine is. Mine grows in patching, Joe.
1:00:31Chad Johnson:When I grow my beard, I have to let it grow for three to four months and it's still patchy. I don't like the holes when it's not full. I want it full. So if anything, if I want to get a beard, I'd rather get a lace front from the barber shop where they put it on and just put the Beijing on the edges to make it look real sharp. I'd do it. I wouldn't trip. I don't care. I wouldn't see this.
1:00:57Shannon Sharpe:You got to treat it just like, you got to wash it, you got to condition it, you got to oil it. That's too much maintenance, Unc. I ain't got the patience for that. I ain't got the patience for that. You got that for your face? Oh, yeah. You wash your face, you do all that kind of stuff on your face? Wait a minute. Stay with me real quick. Hey, Unc, let me tell you how easy my facial routine is. All I use is black soap. You ever heard of fair and white black soap? Yeah. I use fair and white black soap. I get it out the hood from the beauty supply store, Unc. So when I take a shower, take a shower with my dial bar soap.
1:01:29Then when I'm done with that, I do my face. I hit my face, you know, with my fair and white black soap. That's it. I'm done.
1:01:34Shannon Sharpe:I haven't heard about black and white cookies. Come again? I don't know anything about black and white cookies. You don't know about fair and white black soap? I don't. Yeah, you ain't. But Joe, all you got to do is shampoo and condition it twice a week. When you're in the shower, you shampoo it up, scrub it through. Wash it out. Put the condition in there. while you got the condition in there, soap your body up, whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop, come up out of there. Now put the oil on before you go, and you have to do. That's about another 30 minutes, man. You didn't hear, you know, everything I just said is in one, boom.
1:02:10Shower, face, body,
1:02:12Shannon Sharpe:Man, look here, if you were in there for 30 minutes, I mean, you're doing something else other than shower. Hey, hey. I'm just saying, the entire routine. And there ain't nothing wrong with that either.
1:02:22Chad Johnson:Don't put nothing past him now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. See how y 'all going left? See how y 'all going in the left field? What do you mean? I'm being straight up about my routine, getting in the shower, getting dressed. Yeah, we know your routine. Huh?
1:02:36Shannon Sharpe:We know your routine. Okay. Synced it. Heard about it.
1:02:44Shannon Sharpe:Don't put nothing past you.
1:02:48Chad Johnson:Hey, Ocho. How y 'all do today, bro? Hey man, we lost the club of America, Joe. We only played one game. Huh? You only played one game today. We only played one game today, Joe. Man, they sent us home, Joe. Yeah. Yeah, they sent us home, Joe. It hurt, Joe. It hurt. It hurt. Hey, check this out.
1:03:08Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe, look at the map, Ojo. Look who America rooting for. Wow. Nah, nah, nah, nah.
1:03:15Chad Johnson:This ain't real. Hey, somebody made that up. Who made that up? A Thunder fan? A Denver fan. Nah, that ain't real, bro.
1:03:25Shannon Sharpe:Just Oklahoma. People hate the Thunder, Joe.
1:03:29Chad Johnson:Why, though?
1:03:30Shannon Sharpe:Because they winning. Because it's hard to watch all that damn flopping. People try to watch that flopping. Hey, don't you see all the complaining about it? People like James Harden, but people didn't like it watching him play with that foul baiting, Joe. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I forgot who just wrote somebody's hard to watch. It's hard to watch Shade because of the flopping. Yeah. I mean, outside of the flopping, do we understand how good the two-time MVP player is? He's good. Yeah. People looking at him, Joe, Ocho, people look at him like, bro, you so good. Why you got to do all that? Got to do that.
1:04:04Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's become part of the game, huh? Joe, it's become part of the game. There are very few players that can manipulate the game like that offensively to be able to get those calls.
1:04:14Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey.
1:04:16Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you remember when Brady was playing and he'd be begging officials and people like, Brady you too good why you got to beg the official for a call yeah my home do that too my home do it sometimes too they fall all out Brady would run down the field and be all in the guy face when he went throwing flag
1:04:33Chad Johnson:yeah yeah
1:04:34Shannon Sharpe:but yeah I don't think there's a whole lot of people out there that really really love OKC they're a great team don't take anything away from them they got they got shade the two time reigning MVP and hard to watch and He hardly watched. I like watching them. They play defense. They play the right way. They play for one another. There's nothing to not like about them other than – I ain't trying to see those guys shoot 15 free throws a game. I'm just not.
1:05:06Chad Johnson:No.
1:05:07Shannon Sharpe:The only guy that should have shot 15 free throws a game was Shaq.
1:05:10Chad Johnson:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I think when you win so damn much, fellas, y 'all know, people get tired of that. they get tired. I can see, Joe, if they'd put like three of them things together, they ain't won but for one year. I know, but the fact that Shea is a two-time MVP and they see how efficient he's been over the years. They've been comparing him, putting him in the same sentence with Michael Jordan. They're going to find something wrong with it. Yeah, got to. Hey, hold on, hold on, Joe. When Michael Jordan played and he decided to put the ball to the floor and go to the rack, did he flare like that at all?
1:05:53No.
1:05:53Chad Johnson:Hell no. He was going over the top of your ass.
1:05:56Shannon Sharpe:No. They snatched his ass out the sky for real. Yeah, they did. They did. They did. No, no, no, no, no. When you got fouled, when they say a hard foul, you got a hard ass. The fouls that they put on your ass in the 80s and 90s, those are flagrant ones now. Yes, sir. Maybe a two.
1:06:13Chad Johnson:No doubt. It ain't even questioned. Yeah. Yeah, you get your head kicked out the game.
1:06:18Shannon Sharpe:Oh yeah, defile somebody like they did back in the day? Oh yeah, you getting a fighter there. They're not gonna let you do that.
1:06:24Chad Johnson:Sure not.
1:06:25Shannon Sharpe:But David Stern understood. People didn't come to see, and people are like, oh man, that's basketball. No, it wasn't. Just because you physical, that doesn't mean it's a great brand of basketball. Right, right. Basketball is supposed to be free moving. And you ain't supposed to be tackling people out there, clothes lining people, running people over. but people have equated that because that's what they grew up watching and so they think that is a great brand a great brand of basketball right just because you're physical I disagree but hey to each his own you like what you like but no Jordan did not flop like that guys did flop like that because if you did and you drew a foul on them oh they gonna give you something to flop about next time oh you gonna really get an elbow in your damn back
1:07:12Chad Johnson:Yeah, because you could touch them. You can touch them back in the day. You know what I mean? You can hand check. You can be physical. Now, I think with the modern guys today, they know you ain't supposed to put your damn hands on them. So every time you touch them, that's why you see them heads go back and you see guys flailing, trying to get the whistle. Yeah, especially the guys. I mean, you better touch a guy and he jumping.
1:07:34Shannon Sharpe:He damn near going up in the stands up under the basket, Joe. But I watch Wimby. They touch Wimby. Wimby like, I was like, come on, Wimby. Yeah, yeah. You got to sell it, huh? You got to sell it. They definitely be selling it, Joe. And I think that's what the fans, the fans don't really like that brand of basketball because it's hard to argue. Bro, the guy's a two-time MVP. They ain't a whole lot of, I mean, there only been, what, 10 back-to-back MVPs? I think 10. That's it. I think you go Russell, Chamberlain. Kareem, Magic, Bird, Nash, Braun.
1:08:21Shannon Sharpe:It ain't been many, Joe.
1:08:24Chad Johnson:That's hard, bro. That's a tough feat, bro, to be a back-to-back MVP in the NBA. Bro, you got to be special.
1:08:36Shannon Sharpe:You got to be special. Kareem did it twice. Bird, Magic LeBron it's been 10 I think you looking it up I think it's been 10 why do I want to say 10
1:08:56Shannon Sharpe:I think it's been 10
1:09:02hey Joe
1:09:03Chad Johnson:what's happening you got your colleagues on your side what happened You know, we had Chris Paul on my soccer podcast today. We had him on the late run. Oh, yeah? Down here in North Carolina. Yeah, my guy. And obviously, he's a fan of the show. Uncle told me to tell you hello. And the first thing he brought up was me and you going at it about playing one-on-one. So I asked Chris, you know. Curry. I said, honestly, you know, when I play Joe, you know, on a scale of one to ten, what's my chances of scoring, you know, if you're going to 11, me getting maybe three to five points. Man, Chris was like, man, shoot, about zero.
1:09:45Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, what thing you can respect is that he kept it 100 with you. He damn sure didn't lie. Not only did he keep it 100, he told me exactly what you were going to do to be able to create space. The difference is once you raise up and because of your height, I wouldn't be able to get to the ball. Well, listen, I'm not going to give him no room to move. He said, well, that's fine. If you don't get enough room to move, he gonna move you himself. Yeah. First thing he pulled up was you lowering the shoulders just a little bit. Yeah. Like Hello do. Yeah, yeah. A little bit of space. And he said that's all you need.
1:10:20Chad Johnson:That's it. That's it. Hey, look, look, I'm glad you wouldn't done some homework, but that shit ain't gonna help you. I hear you. Listen, I done my homework - It's too late now, Joe. Oh, hell yeah, it's too late. It's too late. Let me tell you something. When I broke down the moves that Joe likes to do based on what side of the court he's on, what dribbles he likes to do to execute which shot, what his shot selection looks like, depending on where he is, I'm good. I'm good because he's going to do the same thing when we play. I done studied his big three footage. Okay, boom. When he's at the elbow, this is where he's like to go.
1:10:55When he's at the three, this is where he's like to do. Huh? Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe. I'm going to be in your back pocket. You hear me?
1:11:03Chad Johnson:I got a lot of stuff in this bag over there, Ocho. I'm just telling you. Hey, one thing about it, regardless of what your toolbox got, I got the answer for it. You hear me? Okay. All right.
1:11:14Shannon Sharpe:We missed the most recent ones. Giannis went back, Shea back-to-back, Giannis back-to-back, Jokic back-to-back, Dem Curry back-to-back, Braun back-to-back. That's five right there.
1:11:26Chad Johnson:Damn.
1:11:27Shannon Sharpe:Magic back-to-back, Bird won three in a row, Moses Malone back to back Kareem back to back Chamberlain Russell
