In short

Nightcap Hour 1 discusses San Antonio Spurs vs Minnesota Timberwolves in the playoffs, focusing on Victor Wembanyama’s impact after a blown call led to a game-changing ejection, plus later Lakers roster/trade talk involving Luka Doncic and Giannis.

Guests

The episode is hosted by Ocho (with partner Iso Joe Johnson, 7-time NBA All-Star). No additional named guests appear in the provided transcript.

Guest backgrounds (hosts)

Iso Joe Johnson is a former NBA All-Star and Hall of Fame nominee. Ocho is the show’s host (no specific playing/credential details given in transcript).

Key claims

  • Wembanyama’s early dominance after being ejected/apologizing swung the game; Minnesota couldn’t score efficiently.
  • Minnesota’s offense struggled: sub-40% shooting overall, under-30% from three, and key players needed too many shots for points.
  • Wembanyama’s size “clogs the paint,” forcing Minnesota to rely on physical tactics and hoping he gets out of character.
  • Lakers: Luka reportedly doesn’t want Austin Reaves included in any trade for Giannis; Lakers need more defenders and “too many pieces” are missing.

Notable examples

  • Wembanyama line: 27 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks; Spurs win 126-97 to tie series 3-2.
  • Spurs’ Keldon Johnson: 21 points, efficient; Wolves’ players: Julius Randle 17 on 17 shots, Ant-Man 20 on 13 shots.

I will be there for his induction. Welcome to Nightcap. I don't know what Unk is, but we're going to get this thing going anyway. Chat, how y 'all doing? I love you.

4:49Chad Johnson:It's showtime. Hey, what's up, twin? Hey, that's over with, bro. The Hall of Fame. I ain't get picked this year, bro. Listen, hey, Joe. We got time? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm just letting you know because you probably, you know, getting your hopes up high thinking we gonna, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Next time, next time around. Next time. Oh, it's gonna come. Let me tell you when it's gonna come. I'm gonna be there. And listen, I'm gonna be the ghetto when in the stands with the air horn. Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna have the air horn. Yeah, Joe.

5:21Chad Johnson:Oh, what's happening, man? Hey, what's going on, man? Hey, what's up? What's up, Thanos? That ain't Thanos. Huh? This teddy bear. I mean, well, shit, they all look the same.

5:34Shannon Sharpe:This teddy bear. Teddy bear. He said, I got my hair back now. He said, I look like a real, real live teddy bear. Yeah, yeah. So y 'all did the intro? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, I had it, I had it. Hey, hey.

5:47Chad Johnson:Ocho, I thought you was gonna take the intro. Hey. I did do it. Hey, Ocho did it, but I ain't gonna lie. I could have did it way better than that shit. I would have had it spiffed up, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, but it was cool though. It was cool. Hey, listen, Joe. I'm not really an intro person, man. I'm not an intro person, you know? All right, okay. Yeah, don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. You got it tomorrow, Joe? Man, come on. I got it tomorrow. All right. All right. Man. Why, Joe, you going to mess up too? Well, please. Dang, oh, Joe. Well, please. See, y 'all done gave him too much time to practice now.

6:23Oh, man. Here he go. Boy, good boy. Hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, He gonna be in the mirror. He gonna write it down. He gonna be practicing. I did mine right off the head.

6:37Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, I mean, look, once you get used to it, I mean, you kind of remember the sequence of it. Yeah. Like last night, I don't really use the prompt anymore anyway. For the most part, the only time I use the prompt, I don't really use the prompt unless I got to do an ad read or something like that. All the other stuff, you've done it so much, you don't really worry about it. You don't even think about it.

6:54Chad Johnson:It's muscle memory, baby. It is. It is.

7:02Shannon Sharpe:That's exactly what it is. Where's the rundown? Oh, here it is.

7:11Shannon Sharpe:All right, guys. Well, the Spurs, they take control. They're back in front, 3-2, get a chance to close out the game. In Minnesota, thanks to a 126-97 victory, Wimby gets back to game five. He has 27 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. And so now you think about it. What's he averaging? He's averaging basically, this is Tim Duncan. If you can see it, I don't know if you guys can see it. Can they see it? Okay, so Tim Duncan in his first playoff games to the right, his first nine games played, he averaged 20.7 points in 42 minutes, nine rebounds, two and a half blocks, almost 56 % true shooting.

7:52Shannon Sharpe:Wimby is averaging 20.5 points in 29 minutes, 11.2 rebounds, 4.2 blocks on 65.5 % true shooting. So through their first nine playoff games, he's ahead. Not saying he's going to be better than Tim Duncan. We know Tim Duncan is a transcendent player. Arguably, he ain't no arguing. He's a top 10 player. you can make a case for him to be a top five player based on how much he's won, the all-NBA selections, both offensively and defensively, the finals MVP, the regular season MVPs, he could have been a defensive player of the year. But Wimby is projected to be better. How was, you know, when you look at it, and we said this the other night, Joe, I'm not so sure Minnesota wins this game if Wimby doesn't get kicked out.

8:43Shannon Sharpe:and we all agreed last night they were going to blow Minnesota out tonight. Minnesota got their hands full. They're going to have to build their best behavior when the game swings back to Minnesota or they're going to end this series. Joe, what did you like about San Antonio and more importantly, what did you like about Wimby tonight?

9:01Chad Johnson:Oh, Joe, go ahead. I see you itching for something. What you got to say? Hey, listen, I don't know if Coach made Wimby, you know, apologize to teammates or if he did something formal in the locker room, for what he did, getting thrown out the game and putting the team in such an advantageous situation, which allowed Minnesota to win that game. But his apology to them was loud as hell once he got on that goddamn court. Yes, sir. Boy, he gave them boys hell, Joe. Yes, sir. Not gave them hell. I'm talking about right off the bat. Right off the bat. Here, let me show y 'all how sorry I am by coming out here, setting the tone and dominating early in the game.

9:40And once he started off like that, everybody else finished it off. The Wolves ain't have a chance all night long, man.

9:50Shannon Sharpe:Because I was looking at it. I was watching the game. I started watching the game in the lounge and then I was watching on television. And they get out to a 14-point lead, and the Wolves cut it all the way back down to two. They get out to a 13-point lead. They cut it all the way back down to three. I was like, well, damn, San Antonio, y 'all can't keep any separation. Give Minnesota credit. They're not willing to die just yet. But then I looked up again, they're up 18, and the next time I was like, well, damn. What really happened? But obviously, you see they're a different team with Wimby. They're a different team with Wimby.

10:21Shannon Sharpe:There's no way around it. You see what they shot, less than 40 % from the field, less than 30 % from the three-point line. They were aggressive. They got to the free-throw line 30 times, made 24 of those. The rebounding disparity, again, 50 to 42 plus 8 for San Antonio. everybody minus Julius Ramon minus 22, Jay McDaniels minus 12, Rudy minus 15, DeSomo minus 20, Ant-Man minus nine. And the problem that you run into, guys, if Rudy Gobert is going to give you four and five and their center is going to give you 27 and 17, you're not winning that game.

10:58Chad Johnson:Hey, what we talked about the other night. Hell, when you got Wimby out there, bro, you're already at a disadvantage. He's just too big of a difference, fellas. Listen, I'm watching. Hell, when they brought Julius, I mean, when they brought Nas Reed in, he got Nas Reed throwing the ball all over the damn backboard. He trying sky hooks and all kind of shit trying to get that ball over that man. Hey, hey, hey, I'm talking about it ain't hitting no rim. I'm telling you, listen, so if he don't even block it, Hell, the chances of you making the shot is just almost impossible, bro. Hold on. Hey, Joe, when he throw a what?

11:40Chad Johnson:Ocho, I seen him throw one like this. Then he threw a hook. He threw a running hook. I said, damn.

11:48Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe, Ocho, you know how you... Man, I sure hate to tell somebody something because I know they're going to throw it up in my face. Man, I sure hate to shoot this shot. I know women going to throw this ish back in my face. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

11:58Chad Johnson:Hey, but he know. But Nas Reed knew he had that. That was his biggest defense, meaning like he got to go at Wimby. Man, it's hard to score over that man, bro. Hey, when he's sitting there and you get by him or you go straight up, bro, it is hard to score that ball, man. I think the Timberwolves, I thought they played pretty good. You know, the game got away from him at the end. But, whew, he just too much, fellas. The problem is, is that when you look at it and you say,

12:28Shannon Sharpe:because that is not his normal shot. Every once in a while, guys, you know, you make a heed from half court, but that's not a shot that you practice. That's not your, like you said, muscle memory. That's not your normal muscle memory. His muscle memory, Kareem, I mean, I think I might have saw Kareem shoot a normal shot. I'm talking about like he shot a free throw from the field. Maybe a handful of times. His muscle memory was this. Yeah. It was this. Yeah. And so now I'm going out there trying to throw that. You might hit it here or there, but that's not your normal shot. Your muscle doesn't have the memory to shoot that shot.

13:04Right.

13:05Shannon Sharpe:But you know if I shoot a regular shot, I'm going to have to eat that.

13:09Chad Johnson:Yeah. Hey, hey, because when you're playing the game of hoops, bro, you're playing off instincts. So, like, your move is not premeditated. You know, you may give him a little ha-ha and whatever he go for, and you go to the goal now you got to figure out what you're going to do but here he right there i'm like hey hey it's it's it's challenging man but they they got to continue to go at him i i i i agree with you ocho when we started the game bro he was like look hey my bad fella like you said right they was they was they was closing the lead down the two obviously you know the game of basketball so it's a game of runs you know so you're gonna have you're gonna have leads they gonna close it down and then a team like the goddamn spurs that goddamn kelton johnson oh yeah i goddamn kelton johnson off the goddamn bitch hey young young boy had 22 he was he was efficient as hell tonight hey hey i think he was one of the big differences because if you look at it right shoot four out of the five for the wolves shoot they was in double figures hell four out of to five for goddamn for the spurs was in double figures too but then you add goddamn keldin johnson with his 21 man all that make a difference joe yeah it do all that make a difference the

14:27Shannon Sharpe:thing is you said the timber wolves and double figures look at what they shot to get double figures judas randall has 17 points on 17 shots yeah jay mcdaniels had 17 points on 13 shots The Sommel had 16 points on 14 shots. Ant-Man had 20 points on 13 shots. And now you come down and you looked at Wimbyama. He had 9 on 16, 8 of 11 for Stephen Castle, 8 of 11 for Kelton Johnson, 50 % Dylan Harper. And so that's the difference in the ballgame there. Yeah, they got double figures, but if you're going to get 17 points and it's going to take you 17 shots to get it, congratulations.

15:08Chad Johnson:It's going to be hard to win like that.

15:10Shannon Sharpe:Congratulations.

15:11Chad Johnson:You know, and another reason, in this series, Rudy ain't giving you no 20-nothing. You know what I'm saying? So you ain't getting no points from Rudy. And the only thing, the one thing that really hurts Minnesota, bro, is when Rudy's in the game and that damn Wimby don't have to guard no damn body, man. He just clogging up the paint. You know, he like that free safety out there, Ocho. He giving everybody hell, you know, because he can help off him. You know what I mean? So I know they try to bring Nas Reed in so he can kind of go at him and obviously respect him and keep him away from the basket.

15:46Chad Johnson:But it's just so tough, man, because Minnesota has to have a guy who's going to play up in the 30s. I mean, like, any man going to have to be at least 35, man, for him to win, especially on the road. Like, he playing great. Don't get me wrong. But, you know, under the circumstances that he's under?

16:04Shannon Sharpe:Yo, 13 shots for him ain't going to cut it. You're not winning the game. This is what's going to happen to you. If Ant-Man only take 13 shots, you're going to get blown out. He needs to be in the mid-20s.

16:15Chad Johnson:I think he's still working through a little something. He look like he's getting better, but, hell, they got so many guys, meaning McDaniels didn't play bad, but Julius Randle, he got to be a little better efficiently.

16:27Shannon Sharpe:Julius Randle hasn't played good this series, if we'll be honest.

16:30Chad Johnson:I know in this kind of – it's hard, man. I know it's hard.

16:33Shannon Sharpe:But he has the advantage because he's either going to have Champagny of a sale.

16:38Chad Johnson:He got the advantage. He got the advantage, but he got cover two on him. Man, over the top. Shit, he see him? How he gonna get to the cup? Man, that man got to shoot all them fadeaway jumpers. That's what he gotta make.

16:53Shannon Sharpe:He got you shooting fadeaway jumpers because you know he want to get to the rim. He want to pile to the rim.

16:58Chad Johnson:Yeah, so think about it. If he big bodying him, hell, by the time you turn around and shoot and Wimby standing right there, cause Rudy right over here he ain't really got to guard him you know what i'm saying so it's it's it's tough it's challenging i see what's going on out there that's why i say when winbane on the floor bro it's like an even game even when he go to the bench at times yes you know what i mean but they just so deep meaning san antonio with guys coming off the bench and i agree ocho kelden johnson bro he's probably the second most important player tonight bro the way he played with that efficiency and getting to it, yeah.

17:38Chad Johnson:They're a tough team, man. He's young.

17:41Shannon Sharpe:He made a mistake. He didn't understand. He's like, okay, you know, ain't nothing gonna happen. He didn't realize, because I can think about it. Think about this. This man is in the NBA. He's like, because you can see Harrison Barnes telling. He's like, what that, he grabbed it. What that mean? You ejected. I'm ejected? Yeah, they threw your ass out. Because he had no idea. He really thought he was going to come back. He thought they were going to get him. They shoot the fire shot and he's going to come back in the game. Hey, you heard what he said. Oh, okay. Yeah. He got up and left. Yeah. He's like, oh.

18:18Shannon Sharpe:I don't know if anybody remember the movie In Cold Blood where Truman Capote wrote about the Critter family. These guys were in prison and somebody was in prison told a lie that this family, they had a farm, but they had lots of money in the safe. One of them was energy. I mean, they had a borderline IQ, Ocho and Joe. And when he told them what had happened, he thought because he told them what had actually happened, what had they got, because they found them. And he told them what would happen. He thought, okay, we going home. They're like, no, you're not going home. You're going to get home.

18:48Shannon Sharpe:Damn. He's like, really? He's like, yeah, really. So he didn't know. He's like, oh, man, they're going to shoot five shots. I'm going to be okay. It's all good. Hey. Mm-mm. And then he's like, man, I cost our team a game because I'm of the inclination that me being Wimby, they can't win with me and the lineup. He has to play bad. He gets in the 20s, Timberwolves not beating him, Joe. The only chance they got is that when he plays really, really bad, I mean, what was he, like 6 or 17 or 5 or 17? But if he scores in the 20s and he's shooting a 50s, They're not winning.

19:31Chad Johnson:No, it's going to be hard to beat them. It's going to be hard. Hey, listen, I think this was a very humbling experience for Wimby, meaning this was a learning experience for him. You know, I can kind of tell through his demeanor throughout the game. Obviously, he was so serious about the game. He's always been like that. But after the game interview, just listening to him talk, he understands that he pretty much, you know, cost that game, game four. and, you know, with the thrust that he came out and played with in the first few minutes, bro, hey, it could be scary, Ocho. I think that's a learning experience for them if they're able to get up out this series, obviously.

20:09Chad Johnson:And look, when you look even throughout the game, the game's still so physical. Look how every time they get a chance to put their hands on their boy, what they're doing, pushing them down, putting their elbow on them, like just roughing them up. Hey, look, and then he's still getting fouled. Every time he gets knocked to the ground, he look up at the ref then he started to notice like okay this how they play huh this how this how it's going down okay well look let me get my ass up and get on back on defense yeah now

20:34Shannon Sharpe:i'm gonna now y 'all done piss me off now i'm gonna swatch this ish for real yeah hey hey hey similar

20:40Chad Johnson:hey similar to when we was all in new york and y 'all pissed me off and i went off there you go

20:48hey listen he gonna he gonna he gonna live that down man that's how wimby now that's how wimby

20:53Chad Johnson:did tonight. I'm talking about he wasn't playing no silly games with them boys, man. He a human cheat code.

22:09Shannon Sharpe:Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker whops up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue, 42. Hey, Rhett, my mama wants you to wave at her. What?

22:31Where's she at? Hey, Ms. Parker. Listen to The Clifford Show on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jared O'Donnell. 24:42Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and iHeart Podcast presents Soccer Moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hip since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a BOGO. Well, then you got it. Do you want a White Claw or something? Here, just take it.

25:12Oh, what are y 'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. I would buy it.

25:19Shannon Sharpe:Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh.

25:40Listen to Soccer Moms on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

25:53Chad Johnson:I wonder what he said. Teaching him that old school pivot, yeah.

25:59Shannon Sharpe:Hey. He's like, look, son, you made a mistake. You're not your worst mistake. You're not your best thing to happen. You're somewhere in the middle. Don't let this, moving forward, take away your aggressiveness and how you play this ball game. That has happened. We can't do nothing about that. The two days that we can't do anything about is yesterday and tomorrow. Don't let that enter into anything that we're moving forward. We're moving forward without that baggage. Leave that behind. You're the best player on the court. Now, tomorrow, two days, go show it. Go show why you're one of the MVP finalists.

26:46Shannon Sharpe:Go show why you're defensive player of the year. Go show why in your third year you're going to be an all-NBA selection. Go show why many project you when it's all said and done. You're going to be in consideration for one of the greatest players of all time. Just go show them why. Leave no doubt.

27:04Chad Johnson:Hey, and you know what else he told him? Understanding that you're a great player and the only way these guys can slow you down is by being physical and pissing you off and hoping you get out of character.

27:18Shannon Sharpe:Get out of the game, yep.

27:19Chad Johnson:Period, point blank. Only way to stop him. Stay locked in, understand they're going to be physical, and that's part of the game, just get back up. I think pretty much that's what I've seen tonight. I ain't really see a whole lot of discouragement, you know, on his face. You know, he just kind of just took it as it came, bro.

27:40Shannon Sharpe:Hey, he's a phenomenal talent. You know what? From just watching and listening to him, he want to compete. Think about how he talked about the All-Star game. I'm going to compete.

27:51Chad Johnson:Yeah.

27:53Shannon Sharpe:Think about how he approaches everything. Ain't no key, key, key. Ain't no fun in game. There's a time and a place for everything. But when I'm suiting up against other NBA players, that's not the time for fun in games.

28:04Chad Johnson:Yeah.

28:05Shannon Sharpe:I'm trying to win. I'm trying to send a message. That's why the guys had to play hard. They didn't have no choice because they saw his ass out there playing hard.

28:12Chad Johnson:You heard Ant-Man say. Ant-Man said it. He said that's what made him turn up. He said the way Wimby came out and he was playing, you know, he turned up. But I think that's affectionate for him, Uncle Ocho. And I also really believe he wants to be the best player to play this game, bro. He wants to be the best player to play this game. You can tell by how he goes about himself. and he understands that he's a unique talent. Yes. And I think he's really locked in, bro, to win. I'm talking about a win this year. He want to win now. Yes. You know what I mean? So I think going through this, you know, if they're able to get about this series, I think it'll be a learning experience for them.

28:55Chad Johnson:And going against that OKC team, you know, he'll be – he'll have to – he's going to have to be locked in against them, boy.

29:01Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. And who says I got to wait my turn? I'm jumping the line.

29:06Chad Johnson:That's what I'm saying.

29:07Shannon Sharpe:Magic Johnson ain't waiting his turn.

29:09Chad Johnson:Yeah.

29:10Shannon Sharpe:Magic won his first year. Bird won in his second year. Tim Duncan won in his first. Who said I got to wait?

29:16Chad Johnson:And I'm different. I got to do what? Yeah.

29:19Shannon Sharpe:Nah, I'm good. Y 'all wait. I ain't waiting. I told y 'all I get my chickens by smashing eggs, not by letting them hatch. It takes too long. I want what I want right now. Yeah. Don't give it to me now. Yeah. I take it. Okay. Keep it. I'll come get it. I know where it's at. I know where they keep that Larry O 'Brien trophy. I'm going to get it.

29:42Chad Johnson:That's sure why he's playing, too.

29:44Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, for sure.

29:45Chad Johnson:Yeah.

29:46Shannon Sharpe:And he got young guys. They ain't got no choice.

29:51Chad Johnson:But they hungry, too. Them guys around them, they hungry, too. And they understand the moment, too, fellas. Don't get it twisted. You know, they know they got a great chance. because I know they're super confident playing against that OKC team because they've had so much success against them this year. What, they won three out of the four times?

30:08Shannon Sharpe:Yep.

30:10Chad Johnson:Yeah, so they're going to go in pretty confident.

30:14Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, and I don't have a problem with that, with the way he approaches the game, the way San Antonio approaches the game. Those young guys, I like the fact that they're coming up together. We're going to win or lose this thing together. Well, they got a squad. If you look at Champagne and Wemby, obviously they traded for Fox, Bissell, Castle. They there. The Nucleus.

30:40Chad Johnson:Man, they got... I'm talking about they deep, too.

30:43Shannon Sharpe:They got a nice little squad, man.

30:45Chad Johnson:They do. Yeah, who could definitely challenge... Who's definitely going to try and challenge OKC, bro, to get to the finals. Hey, this is going to be one of them, one of them, boy. Mm-hmm. Yeah.

31:02Shannon Sharpe:it's going to be a Ant-Man's going to have to have another one of those out of body experiences he's more than capable of doing that he got to go crazy but he damn sure better he damn sure better that dude with a size 20 shoes why he wear a size 20? he's stepping on folks hell I'm surprised their foot ain't bigger than that

31:26Chad Johnson:hey man you know what they struggle So even when they was at home that last game before Wemmy got kicked out, I think they were struggling to score. I'm talking about Minnesota.

31:36Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah. Yeah. Remember how he was in the paint? Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Nah, I ain't going up in there. You good.

31:42Chad Johnson:It's like. I'm in there, man.

31:43Shannon Sharpe:They got something good for you. Nah, I'm good.

31:45Chad Johnson:It's like if Minnesota don't get off to a fast start, you know. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. 35:20What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luka and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luka and Austin Reed, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed. He has to guard Julius Randle.

35:54And then he has to give us everything he gives us on a night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.

36:03Chad Johnson:Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running on the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'll be a little worried at times. So I hope they come out blazing and get it to a game seven, bro. I want to – game seven is just hit a little different, fellas.

36:34Shannon Sharpe:For sure.

36:35Chad Johnson:Yeah.

36:35Shannon Sharpe:For sure, and I want to see it. I'm here for it. All right, guys, we got some Laker news. Luka reportedly does not want the Lakers to trade Austin Reeves for Giannis, according to The Athletic. Multiple league sources said that the belief was illustrated when Luka told people within the organization that he wouldn't want Reeves to be included in any potential trade packages for Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo. Donchik would strongly prefer a team constructed that includes him, Reeves, alongside whatever star Lakers could acquire. The team also promised Luka a balanced roster similar to 2024.

37:12Shannon Sharpe:An anonymous Lakers locker room source said, we just don't have enough good players. When discussing the gap between the Lakers and the Thunder during the four-game sweep to the defending champs for the Athletic, GM's Rob Palenka has made it clear he wants LeBron back, but stopped short of calling him a number one priority. Of course, any team, including ours, would love to have LeBron James on their roster. The archetype of the roster that won't be going to be retrofitted around Luka and things he needs. Clearly, he's that leader and the player for the future that we want to build the right way.

37:49Shannon Sharpe:Joe, where does the Lakers go from here?

37:53Chad Johnson:Ooh, I don't know. We in some scary hours now because, hey, it didn't sound like, hell, they was going to make it a priority to bring Bron back.

38:03Shannon Sharpe:No, well, we knew that. That's why they didn't extend him. You remember this to Blasheed? I mean, think about it. Normally when LeBron plays on a one-year, it's because he wants to.

38:14Chad Johnson:Yeah.

38:15Shannon Sharpe:Because normally, what do they do? Tear it up, give him a year, and another player a year. So normally he's on a two-year, three-year deal. Deal, yeah. That is what they did this year. It's amazing to me. It's amazing how they want to build the team around Luka. But when LeBron asked for certain things, they never did. That did a joke. You noticed that? Okay, my bad. I'm sorry.

38:35Chad Johnson:Listen. Hold up, though. I'm speaking out of terms. Go ahead, Joe. Make it up. Hold up, though. Here's what might be happening. They may construct a roster and still, you know, obviously be able to, you know, add Bron, but I think Bron wants to see them probably make some moves before he commit right away. He ain't coming back, though. He ain't never going to be in no rush. Ocho, you can't say he ain't coming back. the man man he playing he on the team with his son the building up 40 50 million dollar house man come on joe he's not coming back joe let's let's let's get this right right let's understand the way the the lakers are constructed right how many pieces are the way from winning the championship think about it lucas say he don't want yannis we know why he don't want yannis even i have a better understanding of the game that yannis has to have the ball in his hands luca has to have the ball in his hands luke and yannis that's not gonna work why does he want reeves he and reeves work well together they work very well together lebron works well as well because now he diverts himself to being the third option and he had nobody inserting himself in he has no problem inserting himself in games when need be let luke do what he does let reed do what he does still they have nobody that can defend they have no defenders outside of marcus smart deandre aiden i mean no disrespect the young bull but he hasn't lived up the hype you mean the abomination you know but they need too many pieces hey oh my bad joe i mean you talking about the big

40:07Shannon Sharpe:hallucination oh my bad i'm sorry oh joe go ahead hey hey listen joe whatever you want to whatever you want to call him they need too many pieces and it's in this and it's not enough players that they can get right now this year or next year all of a sudden we're going to come in and be able to compete with other teams in the West.

40:25Chad Johnson:Damn, Ojo, they were just missing the top score of Luka. Okay, since Luka asked for all this, damn, can he stay healthy enough throughout the postseason so we can see what we really got? You know what it was going to look like regardless. What you mean? Joe, if Luka was hurt, they still, would they matter what, one game? We don't know. Ojo, he the leading scorer in the NBA. We don't know. He's, you know, he's played well against them type of teams, bruh. Yeah, he knocked him out.

40:55Shannon Sharpe:Him and Kyrie, that's how they got to the final.

40:57Chad Johnson:Hey, man. Him and who?

40:59Shannon Sharpe:Him and Kyrie.

41:00Chad Johnson:Ain't no Kyrie on the Lakers. Come on, bro. You got Bron and Austin Reeves. We don't know, bro. We don't really know. You know what? I like the way you being naive, Joe. No, I think they do need another piece or two. But damn, they got to stay healthy, bro. This is why we say not only do you want to be clicking in April, going into the postseason, but you need your guys to be healthy as well, bro. Hell, if you ain't healthy, it don't – I mean, look, bro, we got people playing out of position. Yeah. It is. Yeah. So, hold on. Let me get this correct, Joe. Before you go, Joe, are you saying if Luka played, if Luka was healthy, that this series with the Thunder would have been different?

41:43Chad Johnson:Could be, man. Hell, they missing an all-star over there for OKC and Jalen Williams. So if you got Luka and he giving you 30 a night, 30 plus a night, you know, Bron giving you anywhere from 18 to 24 a night, A.R. giving you his 22, and Rui out here shooting the blood out that thing, huh? I don't know. Joe, we ain't playing 2K. This ain't NBA 2K, Joe. This is real life. We talk about reality. I'm just saying, bro. A healthy Lakers team is not beating the Thunder. they might win a game maybe one or maybe two if that and if they win two it's only because the nba and the refs collude so they can pay the bills that's it let's be realistic hey stop

42:30Shannon Sharpe:putting spot on our name bro think about it they win the championship and he breaks the team up why would you ever get rid of caruso yeah you need three and d guys he talking about the team that Luka had around him in Dallas? What did he have, Joe? Guys that could defend. He had two scores, guys that could defend and shoot the three. He had Washington. But Gafford, what was Gafford? Rebounding, lob threat.

43:00Chad Johnson:Yep.

43:01Shannon Sharpe:Lively. What was he? Rebound, lob threat. Rebound, lob threat.

43:04Chad Johnson:Yeah.

43:05Shannon Sharpe:P.J. Washington, three.

43:08Chad Johnson:Yeah.

43:08Shannon Sharpe:And then you had Kyrie in him. But that's not what you call him did. he wanted to break it up. What I don't understand for the life of me Joe you remember when they was in the bubble and somebody said what's y 'all game plan for Russ? Let him shoot. They said let him shoot and then the next year what they do? They go sign the guy and they said we gonna let him shoot. Make it make sense now. See now y 'all done pissed me off. Let's be all the way real. If Rob Palenka was not Kobe's agent does he have that job?

43:40Chad Johnson:No sir.

43:41Shannon Sharpe:But y 'all don't want to talk about that. All you want to talk about, well, LeBron got his son on his team. LeBron handpicked this. Let's have a real conversation. I got time today.

43:53Chad Johnson:Yeah.

43:55Shannon Sharpe:What about them picks? What about Serafino Hood? Hood Serafino. What is it? Serafino Hood? Where is he? He was your first round pick a couple years ago. Where is he, Joe?

44:05Chad Johnson:No, I have no clue, bro.

44:07Shannon Sharpe:Oh, okay. Oh, okay.

44:09Chad Johnson:Out of Indiana, yeah. You're right.

44:10Shannon Sharpe:mm-hmm okay I'm just checking you had defenders you had JaVale you had Dwight Howard you're not paying them 30 million dollars you break it up just because and get what so you know what I think we'll be better if we have Camelo and Camelo's a phenomenal player he's a phenomenal offensive player but Camelo was old and he couldn't defend Russ has never been known as a defender and he couldn't shoot. I'll give you a prime example. I remember the one time I really got upset at Mike in 1999. We played against D.C. Dale Carter, his whole career in Kansas City. We would come in there on a Wednesday and say, you know what, guys?

44:49Shannon Sharpe:He's gonna do something to cost his team. He's gonna get a penalty. He's gonna get sneaky. He's gonna get lazy with his eyes, and he's gonna give us a big play. What did Mike do in 1999? Go sign the very guy that said we need to stay away from because ...

45:09Shannon Sharpe:But y 'all don't want to talk about Rob. Oh, y 'all talk about, hold on. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What about magic? Do y 'all really know? See, I got time today. I got a little bit of time on my hair today. Because, you know, I've been busy. Had to get up early this morning, shoot a pod, jump on the flight, had to come down. I said, we got to shoot. I said, no, I got to take a shower. I got smelling like get back right now. So I got to get in the shower. I got to get that up off me. Hey, ain't nobody ask why Magic Johnson quit? Why he just quit up and quit? Him and Jeannie's sisters, brother's sisters, they like brother's sisters.

45:43Oh, they wanted Luke Walton.

45:46Shannon Sharpe:Man, you know what, y 'all keep Luke. I'm up out of here. Yeah. LeBron wanted Ty Lue. The man won a championship, coached unbelievable. Nah, we gonna keep. We're going to keep Luke Walton. Man, but you see what Luke did with Golden State? I could have coached Golden State. With Steph, KD, Draymond, and Klay, who the hell couldn't coach them to a championship? How it looked with the Lakers? How it looked with Sacramento? Yeah. Okay, so he wanted that. So he wanted to do that. I ain't got no, hey, that's what you want. But now you want to make all these things. You want to get exactly. But I'm going to tell you what's going to happen.

46:37Shannon Sharpe:And y 'all know, Luka, one of my favorite players. You're not winning. Name a time you got a backcourt that's defensively challenged that you won a championship with.

46:49Chad Johnson:It ain't won, boy. Name a, think about it.

46:53Shannon Sharpe:What did they say when they played Luka? We want Luka to guard. So we're going to put him in the pick and roll as great as he is offensively. When you see the clutch situation, last five minutes of the game, what happened? Austin Reed last night, what did they do every time they wanted a basket? AJ Mitchell or Shea? Whoever he's guarding, bring him to me. I need to see it. Y 'all watch the game?

47:19Chad Johnson:Yeah.

47:21Shannon Sharpe:It's going to be very, very interesting. You better get some guys that can defend. whether LeBron is there or not. I'm ready for LeBron to leave. I really am. Because all they do is blame him. Because all I know, their last championship was 2010. And the next one they won was 2020 and the pandemic. Nobody. Once Kobe retired, because you got to realize, Kobe was hurt his last couple years. Kobe was shooting under 40 % his last couple years. Nobody was even talking about the Lakers. Until LeBron went there. And you didn't have to recruit him. He went on his own.

47:58Shannon Sharpe:I want him to leave and I want to see how many championships because if you think about it Joe let me tell you something you've never heard about the Lakers the Lakers how many championships they won a lot now the Heat the Heat had one championship and what do they sell you before they got any more championships Heat culture you hear Golden State you mean to tell me a team that got 17 championships ain't got no culture? I'm looking for something, Joe. Come with that now. Who they developed?

48:37Shannon Sharpe:Kareem wasn't there. Shaq, you didn't drag Shaq. Shaq. When last time they developed a player?

48:50Chad Johnson:I see where you're going.

48:53Shannon Sharpe:hey but but but they try oh boy rob rob rob think about okay you're hot you didn't you wanted luke so magic says i'm up out of here the next year later you lose tyloo now you're gonna get vogel guess who his backcourt was two of the smartest people to ever play in the nba

49:12Chad Johnson:lebron james and rajon rondo yeah what y 'all want to run what y 'all want to run

49:19Shannon Sharpe:I ain't ready to get up and get sweaty. My knees hurting tonight. Hey, Bron, Rondo, my knees and my back hurt. I'm sitting down tonight. Handle that. Okay, you know what, Frank Bowles? Frank, they have a dial year. LeBron get hurt. They get swept, I think, the Suns. Did you get Darvin Ham?

49:42Shannon Sharpe:I just want to know what y 'all going to do. I'm anxious to see. Because I'm a Luka fan. I'm an Austin Reeves fan. Austin Reed's story, it should be a documentary. Yes. For a guy to come out that's an undrafted free agent to average 7 points, 9 points, 13 points, I mean 19 points, 23 points, it should be studied. Just go to show you what you can do when you put your mind to it and you put the work in. A lot of it has to do, Joe, sometimes, you know, you got to go to the right situation. Yeah. He went to the right situation.

50:09Chad Johnson:Yeah.

50:11Shannon Sharpe:He spoke in glowing terms how LeBron took him under his wing. He didn't have to. but I'm going to be watching. I'm going to be watching. I'm going to need to see some championship Lakers fans. I want to see some championships in the next five years. I need to see some championship Lakers. Okay, now you said next five years. Now that makes much more sense because what they need. I'm giving them five. I'm giving them grace. You want me to be more generous? I say 10.

50:37Chad Johnson:Nah. Man, they got to take a real look at, you know, some roster changes just in order to get to what I'm talking about.

50:51Shannon Sharpe:In the next five years, will OKC be better or worse than what they are right now, Joe?

50:57Chad Johnson:They're going to be shit. They're probably going to be better or the same.

51:00Shannon Sharpe:Okay, in the next five years, San Antonio, they're going to be better or worse than what they are right now, Joe?

51:05Chad Johnson:Better.

51:06Shannon Sharpe:Well, damn! So either they need to move to the Eastern Conference or the Lakers need to step their game up. Now, one of the two need to happen.

51:16Chad Johnson:You better figure it out.

51:19Shannon Sharpe:Oh, wait. The problem was, and I don't know if LeBron really, really factored this in. It's kind of like the situation where you don't fully evaluate the situation. We go in and we drop a couple of bombs on Iran, and what's the worst they can do? Well, they can shut that thing down and you'll make it hell on you. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm, LeBron, let's see. I'm not really homegrown. I've been their most beloved and cherished players, Chief Rivalry, for a decade plus. How am I going to feel? How are they going to feel if I come in? Because people's minds are warped. See, they don't, they like, well, he trying to erase Kobe's legacy.

52:05Shannon Sharpe:How you erase somebody's legacy? Kobe's already done what he did.

52:09Chad Johnson:Right.

52:12Shannon Sharpe:He's trying to enhance the Lakers, make the Lakers relevant, no matter what you think. Lakers wasn't on TV like they were. When they had all them guys and they were celebrating and doing all kinds of crazy stuff, don't nobody talk about the Lakers. Go back. When last time? We hadn't talked about the Lakers since Kobe's what? That 60-point game. We didn't talk about the Lakers before, and we hadn't talked about them since until 1-23 showed up.

52:41Chad Johnson:Mm-hmm.

52:44yeah

52:51Shannon Sharpe:Caruso nine million dollars a year that's what the Bulls offered him nah we ain't gonna match that a guy that's three and D outstanding defender and can knock down shots remember he made three big threes last night last night yeah and he played outstanding and he plays outstanding defense That's what he's known for. I mean, you had him and KCP.

53:19Shannon Sharpe:But you know what? They say, you know what? We don't want to leave Tucker, Taylor Horton Tucker. We don't want to lose him, Joe. So we're going to give him three years,$32 million. Now, where is he currently?

53:30Chad Johnson:He overseas somewhere.

53:33Shannon Sharpe:Damn.

53:34Chad Johnson:Yeah.

53:36Shannon Sharpe:So LeBron James is a free agent. Austin Reeves has a player option. Rui is a free agent. DeAndre Ayton, player option. Marcus Smart, player option. Luke Kennard, free. Jackson Hay, free. Maxi Kleber, free.

53:53Chad Johnson:You want to bring a couple of them guys back, try and bring a couple of them guys back.

53:57Shannon Sharpe:Well, Rui definitely should be, you definitely should try to bring Rui back. You definitely should bring Rui back.

54:02Chad Johnson:That's it?

54:03Shannon Sharpe:No, I'm saying that, look. I mean, I don't know how many guys you can bring back. Austin Reed's going to opt out of that guy.

54:11Chad Johnson:I think that's going to determine a lot, A.R. Is he going to get a max deal or is he going to get somewhere close to a max or is he going to take somewhat of a generous discount? Because if he take$250,

54:28Shannon Sharpe:okay, Ocho, that's a big chunk of the pie. Yo. Because if you look at that group, The only guy in that group that can defend is Marcus Smart. Yep. He's the only guy that can defend. I thought he did a great job on Shea. Last night, yeah, he got his buckets, but he made him work for it.

54:48Chad Johnson:Yeah. When you talk about four series, when you talk about four series, I thought he'd done a hell of a job if you ask me. Hey, listen, you guarding arguably the best player in the game right now who's probably going to be the MVP. Pete, listen, out of four games, bro, he had one game the way he was him. He went off.

55:08Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you gotta live with that. Somebody told me you lied, Lakers wasn't on TV. I don't remember Lakers being on TV. When Kobe, when Kobe, I don't remember them gonna be on TV cause Kobe was hurt. You're a lie, Lakers wasn't on TV. But I tell you who was on TV, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

55:26Chad Johnson:Oh yeah.

55:27Shannon Sharpe:And the Golden State Warriors. the Boston Celtics when they had them young guys coming up Tatum and Brown, Smart, Al Horford I can tell you who was on TV you see it's easy to say that now cause LeBron's there they're gonna be on TV after LeBron leaves cause Luke is there but you a lie you a lie

55:51Shannon Sharpe:they wasn't on TV yeah they were in LA market but they weren't broadcast nationally don't do that

56:01the product wasn't the same

56:03Shannon Sharpe:no it wasn't it wasn't LA is predicated on winning yep it's predicated on winning so if you don't win what do we Joe we know because we have the luxury of being able to go where we want to go there's too much going on in LA for you to go sit in a building when you can sit on rooftops you can sit on decks you can go to the beach and I'm going to go sit somewhere where they losing and I can be up in Malibu I can be on Venice I can be at Newport Santa Monica Pier

56:46too much to do

56:50Shannon Sharpe:it takes a lot to

56:57Shannon Sharpe:boy but it's amazing how we remember things sometimes our memory is what we want it to be we can go back and look at things and what's the first thing they say guys I don't quite remember it like that I bet you don't

57:21Shannon Sharpe:I bet you don't but we gonna find out we about to find out look Luca my guy I don't root for him I rooted for him when he was in Dallas it was great when he came to the Lakers cause LeBron was there I root for Luca but I'm a LeBron fan I didn't make no secret about that I've been a LeBron fan

57:43Chad Johnson:do you really feel you really think it's a great chance he going somewhere else though yes you do i told you joe i said that what that last night show what show that was i said that yeah i said i'm telling i'm telling it it's just hard it's just hard joe and ocho man come on now

57:59Shannon Sharpe:the warriors you've been making joe you've been making 50 million how long you been making 50 million and they want to break you off with a little eight piece you don't have 50 you don't have been eating 50 nuggets 50 pieces yeah they try to go and get that little six piece you're like man, come on now. Hold on, hold on. Hey, I got, listen, and I got something that could fix that too now. What's that? They want to give him a little six piece. You been getting 50 all this time, right? I got one place he can go, wait, they can give him that six piece and he can make up that 50 based on where the environment he's in.

58:34Huh? Go to New York, huh?

58:37Chad Johnson:Ta-da! Hey, hey, hey, hey. Huh? I'm not saying New York won't be a great place, but they still playing and we don't know how they may finish out. So, you know, that's kind of hard to kind of...

58:48Shannon Sharpe:Because they're not going to want to break that... Hey, let's just say for the sake of argument, they go to and they win the championship. They're not going to be foolish. Some people break their entire roster up and talk about, oh, we got a big name.

58:59Chad Johnson:No.

59:00Shannon Sharpe:Because you're going to have to get off some of those pieces that make you click. Why would you have to get off them? People are going to want OG. People are going to want Miles Bridges. Well, hold on. McKay, excuse me, McKayle Bridges. LeBron is free, huh? You don't have to give up on... You don't have to give up nothing. But to make the salaries work, Joe. I just told you he'd take the six piece because he could make more off the court because he's in New York. He said, I can make that anyway. Hey, look, Ojo, I know he would love to win another title, but I don't see that man taking no discount, bro.

59:32Chad Johnson:I don't. I don't. I don't see him taking no discount. That kind of haircut?

59:37Shannon Sharpe:Ojo, I want a light fade. You gave me a ball fade. You balled me. You gave me the Kojak. But listen, I just gave you the only place, maybe the only other place. That's the only place, the only other market where if you do take a discount, you're going to make up for it times 10 being in New York anyway. Well, if that's the case, he can make up for it in LA too. All of his projects are out there. His production company is out there. The TV show, the game show, the movies, the documentaries. They're not winning nothing.

1:00:06Chad Johnson:They need too many pieces. No, they just need a couple. They need like another piece of food. Oh, Joe, come on. And they need these guys to stay healthy, Ocho. You can't. We never seen them full strength for real, bro. And when we did. Hey, look. And I'm going to tell you another thing. I listened to Bron press conference. He didn't really sound like he was too. He didn't sound like he was too happy about that damn. That role he was playing early in the year. No. If you ask me. He sound like, you know, I played it because, you know, that was best for the team. but you know like he said man hell he hadn't played that role he said since high school then he said ever yeah then he said ever

1:00:45Shannon Sharpe:cause he's like hold on I get Luka I get Luka but how did Austin Reeves just pole vault me he said I get Luka that man is 14, 15 years younger he can score the basketball just like I can he can rebound the ball just like I can he can facilitate just like I can respectfully. How Austin Reeves jumped me though. I was just an all NBA selection last year. I was just in the all-star game last year. Luka was first team. If I'm not mistaken, Luka was first team all NBA. So I get Luka. I'm not arguing that, but I just want y 'all to tell me how did AR jump me.

1:01:25Chad Johnson:Because listen, okay we didn't think AR was going to come out to shoot blazing like he was the first 20-25 game. The man was unconscious.

1:01:36Shannon Sharpe:Yes.

1:01:36Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, listen, listen. We know you big dog over here, man. Hey, we need you to kind of just fit in with the guys because we don't want to pull the reins back on AR. We want him to keep going. But we need you to fit in seamlessly, be that Swiss Army knife, you know, keep the morale of the team up and see what you can add and see if you can be a value of service to what we're trying to build. You know, I thought that, you know, maybe the Lakers thought AR was going to be good, but I don't think they was anticipating that to start the season, fellas. Without Bron on the court, that man was insane them first 20, 25 games.

1:02:11Chad Johnson:He was. He was cutting up, boy.

1:02:13Shannon Sharpe:But let me ask you a question. Y 'all keep on talking about Heat 41 and AR and this and that. Who looked the best in the playoffs against the Thunder? Now, be honest. Put your dislike and hate aside. Who looked the best against the Thunder?

1:02:30Chad Johnson:Well, listen, listen, listen.

1:02:32Shannon Sharpe:Hold on, Javi. I'm waiting on the chat to respond. Give me a second. Just a second, Javi.

1:02:35Chad Johnson:All right, all right, all right.

1:02:40Shannon Sharpe:Whoa, hold on. Now, just a minute ago, I was talking, and y 'all was just hiding. All this, everything with LeBron, it's coming up. Well, damn, why y 'all so slow down? Who led the Lakers in points? Who led the Lakers in rebounds? Who led the Lakers in assists? You mean to tell me a 41 year old outplayed 25, 26, 27 year old? Something ain't right, Joe. My grandma should say, boy, something in the milk ain't clean. Oh, yeah, come on, dad.

1:03:09Chad Johnson:You know, hey. You know that boy a different breed now. He a different breed. Bron, he a different breed.

1:03:19Everybody talk about Rui.

1:03:21Shannon Sharpe:Rui, Rui, I told him Rui was the most consistent, but that wasn't one of the questions. You see how they changed it, Ocho? Well, who did I say? I said, who out of Austin Reeves and LeBron? You see, instead of giving LeBron credit, what did they do, Ocho? So you had A or B. They say C, but C wasn't one of the options. You see how they did it, Ocho? They switched the narrative, huh? See, y 'all debate for fun. Y 'all go debate your homeboy. I'm a professional debater.

1:03:49Chad Johnson:Yeah.

1:03:50Shannon Sharpe:You see how I boxed them in? They didn't even know how I boxed it in. But they did what I wanted them to do, Joe. I wanted him to put Rui to make my point Ocho. You see, that's how you debate. You give them one or two answers, and when they give you something else, bam, drop the hammer. That's how you do it. See, that's how you walk somebody into a trap when you debate.

1:04:14Chad Johnson:And they didn't even know it.

1:04:16Shannon Sharpe:They thought they were doing something. Rui, Rui. Walked you into a trap you didn't even know I had set for you. Now what were you gonna say, Joe?

1:04:28Chad Johnson:Hell, I forgot what we were talking about. Hey, I'm still mad, Joe.

1:04:32Shannon Sharpe:Yo, go ahead, Joe, come back and put me a drink. All right, what you got, Ocho? I'm still mad. You said the goddamn Lakers healthy would've beat the Thunder. You said we don't know. Listen, okay, I didn't say - Joe, Joe, don't do that. Joe, you have elite ball knowledge.

1:04:50Chad Johnson:Ocho, Ocho, Ocho, I'm not saying they would've beat them, But I damn sure don't think they would have got swept. And what I'm saying is the fact that OKC is down an all-star player, probably second leading score, man, you don't know how things could. Hey, look, if Luka would have been in this series, hot as fish. He averaging 40. Joe, we've seen the Thunder without Shea. They ain't miss a beat. We see Shea go to the bench. They still ain't miss a beat. and they still don't have their second leading score. They're not missing the beat. They have too much depth. It's not happening. I got one for you real quick.

1:05:32Chad Johnson:What you got? Knock, knock. Who's that? OKC. OKC who? OKC your ass later next year, Lakers.

1:05:49Chad Johnson:Listen, bro. Look. I think with the Lakers running the OKC, meaning them being the best team in the league, bro. But what they had, I thought they put up a pretty damn good fight. See, the thing is, AR had to catch rhythm throughout the series. Ocho, the man had been out over a damn month with this rib thing. So for you to jump right back in the fire against the best team, okay, not only the best team, but the best defensive team, Come on, bro. It's going to take you a couple games before you really can get back to yourself. If you can get back to yourself. I thought he gave them a couple pretty good games, considering what they was fighting up against.

1:06:32Chad Johnson:But, man, look, if you got Luka, bro, I just think it would have been a different series. Okay. All right. I think they'll still be playing hell.

1:06:45Okay. That's my honest opinion, bro. I got you. I got you. Hey, listen, you know better than me, man. Listen, I'm just learning on the fly.

1:06:53Chad Johnson:That's like, hey, look, think about it. You got the number one score in the NBA. Okay, boom, we got to take him off your team during the playoffs. Like, come on, bro. Yeah.

Shannon Sharpe, Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, and Joe Johnson react to Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs taking the series lead against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2025 NBA Playoffs and to reports of Luka Doncic having no interest in sharing the floor with Giannis Antetokounmpo in Los Angeles. Shannon puts the full weight of expectation squarely on Luka's shoulders — if you are going to turn down a generational talent like Giannis and prioritize paying Austin Reaves instead, then you better bring a championship to Los Angeles because there will be no excuses.
