In short
Sports talk focused on Aaron Rodgers’ potential “curtain call” with the Packers, Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson requesting a trade, and Tyreek Hill’s retirement uncertainty after a knee injury. Also includes discussion of Rams pass rush and league-wide player performances.
Guests (and backgrounds)
- Byron Young (Los Angeles Rams) – defensive player, third-year edge/stand-up rusher; drafted from the University of Tennessee; grew up in Georgetown, South Carolina; worked jobs like Burger King and Dollar General before earning a football opportunity; played running back in high school, then transitioned to linebacker.
- No other guest is interviewed; the rest is host/panel commentary.
Key claims
- Rodgers: wants to retire as a Packer; believes 2025 could be his final season; says he felt “wanted/appreciated” mattered.
- Bengals: Wilson’s reduced role is tied to rookies Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr. getting more snaps; trade request framed as understandable but not necessarily a mistake for Cincinnati.
- Tyreek Hill: says he’s undecided on retiring; injury recovery (dislocated knee, torn ligaments) could delay decisions.
Notable examples
- Young describes rushing with teammates (Braden Fiske, Kobe Turner, Jared Verse) creating “first come, first serve” quarterback pressure.
- Young cites his 2018 trial at Georgia Military College (40-yard dash, bench 225, agility) as a turning point.
- Chase comments: expects many catches but notes Super Bowl rings affect how receivers are judged.

2:35Shannon Sharpe:Days before he plays against the Packers for the first time in his career, Aaron Rodgers made it clear he will retire as a Packer when that day comes. Rodgers said this past summer, he's pretty sure 2025 will be his final season. And if it is indeed, he plans to own a ceremony, ceremoniously leaving the game as a Packer. I was up there for 18 years. Regardless of when I hang it up, that's the bulk of my career. I'll retire Packer and see what happens after that. I've got a lot for that organization and my time there. They asked this week, is it a revenge game or whatever? What do I got to avenge here?
3:11Shannon Sharpe:They made me a ton of money. True. I grew up there, spent some of the best years of my life there. I've got nothing but love for this organization. Listen, Aaron Rodgers is in a good place. Aaron Rodgers is in a good place for the simple fact that he gets to control his future yeah the Steelers the Steelers don't have an answer at the quarterback position nope Aaron Rodgers is coming back Mike Tomlin and the Roonies are going to ask Aaron Rodgers to come back how much you need what you need is to give you because the way he's playing the way he's playing this year there's a resurgence in him yeah resurgence in him you know and if they're going to have a chance if they're going to have an opportunity if they're going to be able to compete as an organization, as a franchise, they're going to want number eight to come back and they're willing to give him what he needs to do so.
3:58He's not going to retire. I'm even at 41, 42, whatever it may be. He's going to be feeling that much better because whatever they pay him is going to make him feel better.
4:07Shannon Sharpe:It's going to make him feel better. I agree. I think the thing is, Ocho, is that
4:15Shannon Sharpe:he wanted to be wanted. He wants to feel appreciated. That's all we want. He feels that for the first time in a long time. Yes. Because what happened is that when you don't extend him, you're telling me you don't want me. Then you go draft a quarterback. You're really telling me you don't want me. And then all this stuff starts leaking out. Well, Aaron Rodgers was not informed about the quarterback. Nobody needed to know that. Right. Nobody needed to know that. The owner, what was the name? picks up the call and say, Aaron Rodgers, don't you be the problem? Nobody don't need to know that. So he felt they were going behind his back, undermining him, making him look bad when it wasn't necessary.
5:02He goes to the Jets.
5:03Shannon Sharpe:The Jets wanted him for whatever reason. It didn't work out there. And then you hear all the stuff start creeping out of the locker room. Now you really haven't heard anything come out of Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin wants him. He says, Mike Tomlin did not put no pressure on me, He said, when you're going to sign? When you're going to come up here? When can we show you around? He said Tomlin didn't do any of that. And he was very appreciative of him giving him his space and allowing him time to make the decision that, can I commit? Can I give them a year? Can I give them an absolute year where I'm totally focused on the game of football?
5:38Shannon Sharpe:He seems to be at a better place in his life. He's gotten married. Reports, I mean, that's what he said. I didn't know reports. He said he's gotten married. and he says he's in a great headspace. He's playing like he's in a great headspace. But at the end of the day, he wanted to be wanted. He wanted to be appreciated. And he felt his last several years in Green Bay. Now, he might have felt that, but they still took him in the first round. They still, he won four MVPs there. He won a Super Bowl there. He won an MVP there. He cut his teeth as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play. no matter what happened in New York or Pittsburgh, everybody's going to remember him as a Green Bay Packer.
6:22Absolutely. Absolutely. So those New York years, these years in Pittsburgh, whether it be one, whether it be two, whether it be three, would never override or overshadow what he did in Green Bay. He will always be a Packer in the eyes of those that understand and watch the game of football over the years. Always.
6:41Shannon Sharpe:Yes. And so, you know, I think that's great. when the guys that spend the bulk of their career somewhere and they get an opportunity to come back and the team is welcoming them with open arms. You sign a one-day contract and you retire as a member of the team that you broke in with and you're most commonly known for.
7:04Shannon Sharpe:I don't know if Brady did that. I don't know if Brady, but even though Brady won a Super Bowl, Brady's going to be remembered as a patriot. Patriot, no matter what. I think he had three years. He won a Super Bowl. he threw for 5 ,000 yards, but in the eyes of everybody, he's a Patriot. He's a Patriot, absolutely. But you know what, Ocho? A lot of people still, they look at Peyton Manning as a Bronco because they see him at all the Bronco games. He lives in Denver. He lives in Denver, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes! He lives in Denver. He's at all the games. I know he wants to be the teams of skyrocketing, the value of teams.
7:43Shannon Sharpe:He wants to own a team. But 40 % of a team, Ocho, you're talking $4 billion. You're talking 50%, so you want to be the majority owner, so you got to own at least 50 % of the team. That's$4 billion. $3.5 billion. Damn.
8:06Shannon Sharpe:And the value isn't, they aren't coming down. No, listen, the mad market would never come down. No! ever. Damn, man, that's crazy. So it's going to be, look, at the end of the day, and that's what I say all the time, it's hard to go to work when you're not happy or you feel unappreciated. You feel you're not appreciated. It's hard, Ocho. Man, you make all that money. I don't give a deal about this money, man. Money don't mean nothing, man. Hold on. You know what it feels like? for one to be happy yes what it feel like to be appreciated and happy yes and then you add someone actually wanting you on top of that well you talk about that's a trifecta that is undefeated for an individual whether it be whether it be in sports whether it be in the corporate world or whether it be in a relationship with somebody man there's nothing better than that feeling of being appreciated and being wanted that it oh it's one of the greatest feelings in the world like I love when my kids ask me for something I love when they ask me for something and there's an appreciation to it that I'm able to provide whatever it may be that they want sometimes it's not within reason because you don't need it but the fact that I can tell you why you don't need it but the fact that I can I'm in a position to be able to do like that shit feel good I told my kids don't ask me for nothing until 2027 because I ain't got it I ain't got it.
9:51Shannon Sharpe:I ain't got it. I ain't got it. Your daddy ain't got it. Your daddy ain't got it. No, they know they solid. They know. Hey. Hell no. Look, when they come to me, I already know. They thought long and hard before they asked daddy. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Listen. My baby hit me today. Daddy, what you doing? I responded back, how much? How much? I mean, listen. I would call to see how you were doing. I would call to see how you checking and checking and checking and doing. Yeah, you ain't never calling to see how I'm doing. Hey, listen. I say, man, baby, I'm right here. I'm on the game. I'm chilling. Everything good.
10:36Okay. My son called me. five minutes later send me some money I'm getting ready to go out of town yeah I knew that I figured that hey miss me with a small talk get to the point my son called me
10:52Shannon Sharpe:guess where he called me at Ocho broke down side of the road I said I ain't triple A I'm in Vegas what you call me for you want me to call triple A right right right yeah I just you know I got the kids oh man come on Really? You called me Broke down the side of the road with a kid in the car Right I say aw man What did he want you to do? Call Triple A? Or just send a little cash? Vehicle Oh a new one Yeah Ocho I'm in Vegas Right here in Atlanta What can I do from Vegas? If he called me he could have called a tow truck Or he could have called Triple A Right right right right You got to get him something new huh?
11:36Shannon Sharpe:Would he want a Range Rover? And still, so if I call, I still got to call Triple A or the Toe Company to get him. Right. I say, ah, man. Dang. Bro, I'd be hot, bro. Hey, just tell Shelly what you, and go. I like that. Hey, I need. Ocho, he gonna send me a picture. in front of the vehicle like this there. Hey, he got something new, huh? Yeah. Hey. I see. That's dope. My son, my son, my son, little CJ, little CJ just got his first, his first little Tesla. Just got his first little Tesla without my help. Oh, did he? Yeah, man. Yeah, man. Hey, that felt good. That was pretty dope. That was pretty dope.
12:29All my kids, everybody got their calls. Everybody squared away, you know, I'm feeling I'm feeling I'm feeling accomplished
12:44Shannon Sharpe:Oh yeah Yeah They're the kids So but It's But look the whole thing is is that Why we work so hard and do What we do yeah and I've never Me I really Don't buy a whole lot of stuff for myself yeah I'll see something here or there I'll get. But for the most part, it's so my kids. But they work. I say, look, this family ain't got room but for one lazy mofo, I'm in. Everybody else that's younger than me, you got to get it. Look, I ain't got no problem. Like I say, when they call me, I know they had their wit singing. I know they done tried everything and they called their mom and their mom was like, look, you know I ain't got it.
13:29Yeah.
13:30Shannon Sharpe:You know I ain't got it. Yeah. You know what? as long as you're working. And this ain't just about no kids in general. Yeah. When you're calling on somebody, you ask for help. As long as you're trying to help yourself and you're doing something. That's it. That's all I ask. That's all I ask. Just be doing something. If you're doing something, I have no problem helping you at all. Just show me you're making some type of effort. That goes for my kids. I mean, just for anybody in your, especially at close proximity and in my small circle. Man, you're good. The kids got to show me. Everybody else that I'm going to really help to that, they done got too old to really work.
14:07Shannon Sharpe:My mom, I got my mom a car. She probably put two miles on that car. But anyway, she wanted a new car. I got her a car. My brother took care of him. My sister, my sister was like, to drive right around here in Glenville, I don't need nothing. But I love the fact that they work for themselves. They do their own. They do the best they can. I say, as long as you're going to work hard and you're going to, hey, you're going to, you're trying. Right. I got you. But don't call me and say you without no job. I don't care if you switch 100 jobs. Right. Just before you leave that job, you make sure you got another one lined up.
14:49You got to have something lined up. That's it. That's all I ask. That's all I ask. You ever been in a situation in general like with someone that wasn't working?
14:59Shannon Sharpe:No, I ain't got nothing for you. But see, Ocho, the way I am, I'm only going to give you what I... I give you money. I don't lend money. Right. You give what you can stand not to have get back. You give what you can stand not to get back. That's it. I'm going to give you what I can afford and just walk away from it. Right. That's what I do. Right. When they ask me for money,
15:28Shannon Sharpe:that's what I'll do I'm gonna give you whatever whatever I give you I don't expect nothing back I don't mention it right I don't bring it up I don't talk we don't talk about it right hey hey man you know I know I owe you bro you good I ain't mentioned it I ain't brought it up right you good so but but that's the whole that's the whole point of it oh yes yes yes I'm gonna die and do what I can't take none of that with me I can't buy my way into heaven and I can't keep my way out of hell so somebody might as well get some use out of it you right but also you gotta be careful what people are taking advantage of you just because you do have it I hate that I hate that part but I'm kind of insulated so ain't nobody really got my number outside my close, close friends.
16:23Shannon Sharpe:Right. And, you know, you got to go through my sister. You know, anybody that's on that side, you got to go through my sister. Right. And she ain't finna give you my number and she gonna just tell you no. Go on, get a little out there into the big heart of Nevada where you can go off-road and off the map on two lakes or on horseback. Dip into hot springs and dive into deserts. 19:06Shannon Sharpe:Oh, we got a very very special place. You got a special guest joining us tonight. Time for the league. League and sacks with nine. A third round pick out of the University of Tennessee. A volunteer. He grew up the youngest of 13 siblings. Wow. Byron Young. Rams. Los Angeles Rams. Bro, how you doing? I'm doing great, man. Appreciate y 'all having me. Nah, bro. Appreciate you coming on. Seriously. You on one side. Jerry Burst on the other. You got the big guy pushing collapse in the pocket. How fun is it rushing the passer in that situation? Because it's first come, first serve. You know you got to get off because Vert's on the other side.
19:46Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It's always a race to the quarterback. I see him saying, meet me there, beat me there. You know, having Braden Fisk, Kobe Turner in the middle with Jared Vert's on the other end. You know, you have no choice but to get off. So, you know, they just motivate me and push me to go harder.
20:03Shannon Sharpe:I was reading the story. Back in 2018, you were working a shift at Burger King and Dollar General. You saw a flyer on the store bulletin board that's like Georgia Military College holding open trials for football. Hold on. You're like, hold on. Man, let me take this apron, this fry cap off and get back. So did you play football in high school? Yes, sir. I played in high school. I just really went and recruited for real. Really? Nah, yeah. So you go trial So what did they have you do? You had to run drills, you had to run a 40 So what did this trial encompass? Basically it was a 40 Kind of like what you said You had to do the bench press at 225 You had to do like changing directions And they basically were doing measurements To see where you were at And that was kind of like it for the most part Like 100 guys there Were you the only one that made it?
21:05I was the only one that made it off the spot. So, like, it was the other guys that got called back because you kind of – it's like two tryouts. You kind of like have the second tryout in the spring when you kind of have spring ball. But I was like the only one to make the team from that, though. Wow. Hey, most of the time when you're growing up, too, obviously in the NFL, you play defense in. When you were younger, what position did you play? I know you weren't playing D-in back then. No, I played running back. What? You were toting that ball? you're told to be a boy? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I played running back all through high school.
21:38That's why I'm like always big fans. Right. So at what point did your body, did your body, you know, grow into actually now I can be on the defensive side of the ball and you got a little bigger? Well, actually, my senior year, like I was like big in high school, but my senior year, I played both sides. Right. And I played stand-up linebacker my senior year of high school. So it was kind of like transition after that. Are you from Georgia? No, I'm from Georgetown, but I moved to Georgia after I graduated high school in 2016. Georgetown, South Carolina? Georgetown, South Carolina, yes, sir. Matter of fact, you know what?
22:12I got a small look. You ain't know this, right? See? Hey, B-Y, you ain't know I know this. You and Melissa Jefferson come from the same small town, too. Yeah, yeah. We went to the same high school. We was on the same track team. All right. Wait, you ran track, too? Yeah, I ran track my senior year. Wait, what race? I went on the 4x1. Okay. Okay.

22:33Shannon Sharpe:Okay. So you get called. So how did you end up at Tennessee? Honestly, that was the first Power 5 school to offer me. Really? Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I felt like it was a sign from God. So, you know, I just went with them. Man, and you got, hey, playing in the SEC. So was that always your dream to play in the NFL? You just had, hey, took a little detour, took you a little while, but, hey, you ended up where you ended up, and you got to ultimately your ultimate destination. Was that always your goal? So what did Byron wanted to be when he was growing up? When he was a kid, he was eight, nine, ten years of age.
23:11Shannon Sharpe:What did you want to be? I always wanted to be in the NFL. I always wanted to go in the NFL. I'd be lying to you if I told you that I just knew this would have happened, like, based off my journey. But, like, my mindset was I just never wanted to quit. You know, I always, like, wanted to somehow get back into playing football. But I really just didn't know how that would look like, you know, growing up. like just being around a lot of people that really didn't really make it to the NFL. So it's kind of hard to kind of navigate and find your ways through there. So like, you know, it was just unpredictable, but I always can't fade.
23:41Shannon Sharpe:Wow. That's that man. That's unbelievable. That's an unbelievable story. So you get your, so you go to university of Tennessee, you have an outstanding collegiate career and now it's draft. So what were the scouts telling you? Did you know you go, did they tell you, okay, you might be a first round pick. You could be a late first round pick, early second. Did they tell you day one, day two? What were you hearing when you were coming out? I was really hearing day two. Some said possibly day three, but mostly it was day two. My biggest knock was my age, so I was like an older guy. I didn't like how mature I was with my age, so it really was always day two, but possibly day three because of that.
24:20Shannon Sharpe:You found a home now, rushing the passer. This is your third year, right? Yes, sir. So you got one year with AD. Got one year with AD. Oh, yeah. Man, do you sit back and think, say, man, can I imagine me versus AD right now, knowing what I know now versus knowing what he knows now? And you're talking about arguably the greatest defensive tackle to ever play one of the five greatest defensive players. And the way our offense can score and we ahead, and now I just get to hunt the quarterback. They got the double 99. They got to. Well, I think about that every day. I just feel like I took some, you know, some of it.
24:59I feel like I took it for granted a little bit my rookie year. But I just said I was learning, you know, I was growing. But, like, now I just look back at my 30. I was like, man, if we could have him too, you know what I'm saying? But, you know, I'm just thankful that I had one year, you know, with him and him, you know, teaching me things and, you know, just being my mentor and stuff.
25:19Shannon Sharpe:What were some of the things that he taught you? So to watch him, obviously he plays the three to five. It's a different – you're mainly an edge. You're on the edge normally. occasionally you put your hand in dirt, but you like to rush the passer from a stand-up position. Sure. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Stand-up. I kind of was doing that at Tennessee for the most part. That's when I kind of started dropping, though. So, yeah, stand-up, outside linebacker. But, you know, being with AD and some of the things he kind of taught me, just be patient. You know, I feel like as a rookie, you're always trying to be perfect.
25:45You're always not trying to make mistakes. So, I feel like coming in, I stress so much about, like, I'm trying to be perfect. I'm not trying to do this wrong. And, you know, he always just said, you know, just be patient. Just let it come to you. You know, like you're going to make mistakes and just learn from them. But, you know, that was something that always stuck with me. Coming into the season, obviously with it being your third year, obviously you have team goals, but have your personal goals, obviously I'm sure the sacks and the trajectory you are on right now so far this season, are there any other goals you have set in mind from an individual's perspective going into this season?
26:21Oh, definitely. making my first Pro Bowl, you know, being all pro. You know, that's always been a dream come true for me. You know, that's something I always wanted, you know, just, you know, just watching the guys I looked up to, like Bond Miller and those guys like that, like one of my favorite players ever, and just watch how they just go about business and, you know, every year making a Pro Bowl. It's just like that's something I always wanted to do. So coming into, you know, my third year, my goal is, you know, off-field, of course, as a team, make it to the Super Bowl. But for myself, all pro, you know, pro bowl, you know, and defense player of the year, that's what I'm reaching.
26:56You know, every day I work, that's why, you know, that's what I'm trying to accomplish.
27:01Shannon Sharpe:You know, B-Y, the easiest thing you'll do is make it to the pro bowl once. Now, what happens when they get that? You know what? We're going to set our game plan to B-Y. Now we slide the protection. Now we have the back chip on his way out. Now we have the tight end chip on his way out. Now, the second pro bowl, the third pro bowl, those are the ones that get hard because now they know what you can do. And now you have expectations for yourself. The fans, management, they have greater expectations because they saw what you've done. You've gone to the Pro Bowl. You're like, hey, I got nine sacks.
27:32Shannon Sharpe:Hold on. I think we got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. We got nine more. We got nine, 10 games. Hold on. If I can get a sack a game, get a couple of two-sack games, maybe I can get 20 sacks. Oh, yeah. And now you're like, hold on, 20 sacks? They don't have to come see you. They pay big bucks for 20 sacks. 20 sacks. They don't have to come see you. Hey, I can go back about all of Georgetown. Yeah. Hey, what's his name? Stan? Stan what, Unk? Stan Cronky? Yeah, tell Stan we want 49 a year. Ooh. Yeah. Yeah, hey, 50. 50? No, 50. Hey, so coming into the sea, obviously, you know, your third year.
28:17Shannon Sharpe:What are some of the things you work on? Look, you got great get-off. Obviously, you can convert speed to power. So what was you working on? And obviously, each year you work on something to try to improve, to get better. Because sometimes the moves that you worked on that worked this year, it might not work. I'm not getting rid of them, but I got to have another trick in my bag that I need to pull out, especially when I got to get off the field. We got to make sure we get off the field. We got to make sure we keep them out of field goal range. We got to make sure we keep them out of the end zone.
28:46Shannon Sharpe:So what were some of the things that you was working on this offseason, B-Y? You know, this offseason, going into my third year, just looking back at my first two years, I just feel like I wanted to take a different approach. So I took on, you know, Pilates. I started doing Pilates three days out of the week just to build my body and, you know, just have – Strengthen that core, get flexible. Yeah, working them little muscles, you know what I'm saying, with longevity and stuff like that to help prevent injuries. So I feel like doing Pilates definitely helped my body type and helped me being able to big bend, getting off the ball faster, you know, flexibility and everything.
29:18Bend the corner, you know how I do. So it's like those are some of the things that I was doing. I was really consistent at it. I feel like I've seen the different things that helped. And just putting it in actual work, you know, getting more get-offs, working my technique more, getting more film studies, studying myself, you know, and studying what I lacked my last two years. And I was just trying to improve from that. So my goal every time I step on the field is improve, you know, something that I didn't do good yesterday, whether it's, you know, whether it's foster, whether it's using my hands, you know, whether it's halibut, I always try and just like get better at something, you know, every practice.
29:51So that's kind of my approach that I was taking OTAs and count.
29:55Shannon Sharpe:You guys still run the hoop? That circle that, you know, you try to run it and stay as low as you possibly can. Y 'all still do that? Well, we kind of do that. We kind of do something else with the medicine ball. We like have the medicine ball. we kind of fill up our hips, but we kind of like do it around the whole hoop. But we don't, I know what you're talking about. We don't really do that too much. So at the end of this season, look, hey, your third round pick, oh, they got to come see you after this year. They got to come see you, B-Y. Oh! So you're going crazy. You're really trying to leave.
30:29Shannon Sharpe:Oh!
30:32Shannon Sharpe:It just died on me. It just died on me. What is he doing?
30:40Shannon Sharpe:I was going to get this 20 piece out here. You know what I'm saying? That's always the goal is just to try to get to that second deal. So I'm definitely working for that for sure. Yeah. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Man, congratulations on all your success, man. I mean, it wasn't – oh, let me ask you this. The youngest of 13, how many brothers – how many boys, how many girls? Nine boys and four girls. And you the youngest? I'm the youngest, yeah. Man, mom and pop wasn't playing. That's dope. That's dope. That's loud. Hey, so I'm talking about, so when y 'all get, oh, Georgetown. So y 'all eat some of anything down there.
31:21Shannon Sharpe:I know about that low country. Yeah, yeah. Mm-hmm. All the hogs. Y 'all put everything in a pot. They call it potluck, Ocho. They put it all in a pot. You lucky if it don't kill you, but they going to eat good. Nah, thanks So when you go back home So what was it like? So you go to the NFL Is there anybody from Georgetown? How close is Georgetown to Monk's Corner? Like Somerville and Charlie How close are you to that? The Charleston is like an hour away An hour away? It's not too crazy Is there any form? I think if Jumpy Gathers from down your way Yeah, that's my family They're from Chumpy. They're from around the way in Georgetown, too.
32:07Shannon Sharpe:I play with Jumpy. Oh, yeah? I play with your man, Jumpy. Oh, Lord, Jumpy, the country is... Man, I don't know what he had, but he had some stuff in a green bottle. He rubbed it on his knee, rubbed it on his ankle, and then drank it. He's talking about, you want to try something? I said, nah, I'm good. My knee don't hurt no more. That was different over there, for sure. Y 'all, you got home remedies like that? I mean, not like that, but we got some stuff that we do. But that was, yeah, I ain't never heard of that. That's probably way back in the day. Yeah. Hey, B-Y, thanks for joining us, man.
32:46Shannon Sharpe:Continued success. Stay healthy. And you lead the league in sacks. Come back and tell us how you did it. Yes, sir. I appreciate y 'all having me, man. Thank you. Y 'all, we appreciate you coming, man. Get some rest. Stay healthy. Best of luck the rest of the year. hey, this offseason Stan Kroker give you that five year, 175 200, 200, we need two I ain't gonna say no more I got you, I got you good luck, all the best thank you man, hold on, let me use the bathroom go ahead man, that's a, he's a, you can see he's a very, you can tell he's mature, and you know And you see, now you see, you heard what they say?
33:31Shannon Sharpe:Because of his age. Now you see why them guys try to get out of school early. Because they hold that against you. Because they look at it like, if you're that good, why are you still in school? They used the man's age against it. Now he got an age. He going to hit that jackpot, though. He going to get paid. And deservedly so. I love people that, you know, he's a fighter come from Georgetown. Not a whole lot, you know, going on down there. But he's like, hey, same thing with Melissa. and to see where he's, where he came from and to see where he's headed, man, he seems so mature. He seems like he got, you know, he's well-grounded and man, I'm excited.
34:16Shannon Sharpe:I'm excited. Go on, get a little out there into the big heart of Nevada where you can go off-road and off the map on two lakes or on horseback. 38:18Shannon Sharpe:To see what this season and what it unfolds for him, Ocho. Uh-oh, Ocho! Bengals linebacker and team captain Logan Wilson has requested a trade. The six-year player has started all seven of his appearances this season. However, the team captain has seen his role reduced over the course of season. Rookies, Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr. have received the bulk of the defensive snaps this season. Ocho, would it be a mistake for them to trade a veteran player, the captain of the defense, and they're already struggling? What's going on, Ocho? Absolutely not. It would not be wrong. I'm not sure you probably don't watch the Bengals the way I watch them.
39:01anybody in the chat that watches the bangles on defense even though we're not playing up to par obviously offense being our identity if you watch demetrius night on if you watch demetrius night well he pop out on film you hear me oh that's the rookie they got from south carolina right
39:16Shannon Sharpe:man listen he wear 44 yeah i think that's 44 for a reason look um young bull is special on he's special when you watch with him hey you i'm listen i'm at the game right i'm at the game and you know you watching everybody and all of a sudden boom flying out of nowhere boom flying out of nowhere i'm watching on tv man who in the hell is this there's a reason why his role has been reduced there's there's a reason why you know and ask asking for a trade is i mean that that's that's that's the easy way out but listen if you can't get it done and if you can't get it done in Cincinnati, where else you going to get it done at?
39:58Think about that. He said, well, I'm
40:01Shannon Sharpe:trying to play, Ocho. I ain't trying to be on no bench. I can't get no stats on the bench. You're not listening to me, huh? If you can't get it done in Cincinnati where we're not that good, where else are you going to go and get it done at? I mean, hello? The call is coming from inside the house. For sure. You know, so, I mean, listen, I love Logan Wilson. I wish him the best. But those that are in front of you where your role has been reduced are really good. They ain't no slouches despite being. But that young man, listen, I'm telling you, if you get a chance to watch the Bengals this Sunday when we play the Jets, watch the meet.
40:39Shannon Sharpe:I mean, I watch y 'all play no Jets. Why not? Oh, you want. Oh, so y 'all can beat up on somebody. You want me to watch that? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. We beat up on the Steelers. I ain't say nothing about that. Oh, you said something about it. Hey, who y 'all got, huh? We got the Cowboys. 425 or 830 game? 425. Yeah, but it ain't looking too good for y 'all, boy. I don't know, boy. Piggins and our goddamn CD Lamb might have 300 yards altogether. Well, they might get it on Riley Moss. They ain't going to get it on Sartan. You know that. So you think Riley Moss is going to give up 300 yards by himself?
41:23Shannon Sharpe:They ain't going to get it on. I know they're not going to get anything on Sertan. Okay. All right. Man. Aaron Gordon had 50 points, and they still lost. 17 of 21, 10 of 11 from three. Wait, 50? 50 who? 50. Jokic had a triple-double. Jamar Murray had 25, and they still got beat by the Warriors. Steph had 42. I know. I was just going to ask you. Steph must have went crazy. 42. Jimmy Butler had 21. Draymond had 13. Kaminga had 14. Al Horford had 13. Buddy Hill had 11. Oh, I forgot Al Horford was there. Yep. I'm getting out of town. Y 'all can't, Boston, we ain't got no chance. Uh-uh. Not at all.
42:08Not without Tatum.
42:10Shannon Sharpe:No, absolutely not. Ocho, we have some good news for you, though. Me? Take a listen to what Jamar Chase had to say earlier today. Yeah, yeah. Jamar, what's the biggest number of catches you think you could get in a game?
42:2726. I mean, I left a lot out there. I'm going to be honest. I left a lot out there. But I doubt I was really going to get 26, though. Probably like 17, 18. You don't think you can get 20? Yeah. I mean, the sky's the limit at the end of the day. The sky's always the limit. But it's not going to be easy, I'll tell you that. I don't want bubbles as five catches, ten catches, you know? Is it on the mirror? Yeah. No, no, no. No more goals are up. Super Bowl. That's it? That's it.
43:04Shannon Sharpe:He understands. I like that. He understands. They look at receivers that have Super Bowl rings different. I understand. Not only the quarterback is really judged heavily. Right. but you know when they throw when they throw up when they talk about jerry what is the one thing jerry can have over randy what he can have over to what he can have over fish jerald chris carter all those guys what do you have rings rings yeah yeah and so chase like although yes i will have a bunch of catches i'm gonna have a bunch of yards considering where i am where my career started right but at the end of the day they're gonna be looking at me sideways i don't get no jewelry especially with the quarterback that I got.
43:43Yeah. Well,
43:47Shannon Sharpe:when he's healthy. Yes. Yeah. You got to stay healthy, Ocho. My goddamn bangles, but we going to be all right, bro. We finna run the table, man. We finna run the table. I feel good about that. It's bad. Oh, Joe, let me know what you think about this. Tyreek Hill is wearing his option after suffering a season injury last month. He said on the set podcast that he's undecided about whether to retire or continue playing. Right now, I'm happy being with my kids. I'm happy with the career I've had, and I love playing football. I love it. But it, man, but it takes a lot, man, to be the best and to stay at the top.
44:33Shannon Sharpe:And I'm at the point now where I need to have a conversation with my mom, family, and everybody. Like I said, wherever my mind is at the time, the decision to be made. But I just right now feel like I haven't had time to just live in the moment. I just be in the moment with my family.
44:53He's not retiring. He's not retiring. He's going through the withdrawals of not being able to play right now. You can't run. You hobbled. You're injured right now. You got to rehab. once he gets back in form, however long that takes, the thought of retiring is far gone. He has too much football left to play.
45:16Shannon Sharpe:Yeah. He has too much football left to play. Not only does he have too much football left to play, there's a new journey. There's a new change. There's a change of scenery waiting on him. I'm not sure where it may be. I'm sure we'll be a place that can use his skill set. And even if he's not as fast as he once was, he'll still be fast than everybody else. you're absolutely right everything that you said is true yeah yeah that's the damn man I got hurt I mean it's a serious injury he dislocated his knee and he tore ligaments yeah he'll be back though yeah for sure and the exciting part for Tyreek Hill is I know I'm coming back right I gotta whip myself back into shape get back close to 100 % as I can and get ready to contribute to a new team.
46:05Where that is, I don't know. That's the exciting part for me.
46:09Shannon Sharpe:How much money Tyree got guaranteed next year?
46:16It was 54, 50-something.
46:18Shannon Sharpe:That's his cap number. I'm talking about how much does he have guaranteed. Okay.
46:33Shannon Sharpe:because this is the first year of a three year$90 million deal wasn't it
46:41first this might be the second year I think I thought
46:44Shannon Sharpe:so he had one more year left
46:52Shannon Sharpe:wow where they won't owe him any more money huh
47:02I don't think that he's going to be playing.
47:05Shannon Sharpe:Oh, okay. Yeah.
47:13Shannon Sharpe:Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah. But we knew, look, I knew one way or another he wasn't going to be there. Either he was going to get traded or he was going to be cut. I know he wasn't going to be there after this year. Yeah, I think if he hadn't got hurt, he would be traded by the deadline. Correct. He'd be traded by the deadline. I think the thing is Ocho in a situation like this you know because it's going to take him a little extra time because he had a dislocation and he tore a couple I think he tore two ligaments in his knee ACL and yeah I mean he wrecked it pretty good so that happened in October November, December, January, February, March April, May, June eight months, July, August.
48:04Shannon Sharpe:I could come back in 12, 10, 11 months.
48:1110, 11, 2, 3, October.
48:16Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, they said he tore multiple ligaments and obviously tore the big one. He'd be ready by the start of the season. Ocho, he tore multiple ligaments and he dislocated the knee.
48:32I think he'll be ready.
48:36Shannon Sharpe:And you got to understand, Ocho, that's a lot of planting and cutting. That's a lot of speed. Think about when you run a comeback at that kind of speed. Yeah. That thing got to be solid. Yeah. Not only does that have to be solid, up here got to be solid too. Yes, absolutely. Yeah.
48:56Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, it's time to play a fade, presented by PrizePix.
49:05Oh,
49:12Shannon Sharpe:I'm going to cash this one out. Brandon Ingram, more than five rebounds versus Milwaukee. That's tomorrow. More.
49:23Shannon Sharpe:Jalen Johnson, more than four assists versus Orlando.
49:32Shannon Sharpe:He's a steals guy.
49:38I'm going to say,
49:43Shannon Sharpe:do I lose if he gets four?
49:50Shannon Sharpe:We push. All right, I'm going to say more. I'm going to say he have at least four. Yeah, we thought that about Bidow too. he doubled us up Norman Powell's gonna have more than 3.5 rebounds Victor Wimbanyama is gonna have more than 9.5 field goals Cade Cunningham is gonna have more than 5.5 rebounds how many oh yeah he was 17 to 21 yeah oh yeah Wimbanyama's gonna average at least 25 this year 25 a game? yeah how many blocks he's gonna average? probably about 3 three three and a half yeah he's like me

51:15Shannon Sharpe:Antonio Agata said, come on, Ocho. It's a little rough right now, but don't forget, sempre Napoli. Oh, no, no. Hey, listen. it's always Napoli but I'm wearing a legend now this ain't just no any AC Milan jersey hold on
51:33Shannon Sharpe:was that Ronaldinho? yeah yeah yeah yeah that's that boy one of my favorite players my favorite team is Napoli I love Napoli and this is also a team in City AC Milan so me wearing this is like oh you're not supposed to be wearing it but this is the legend this is okay this is okay Dr. Frank and Ella Bellamy said last night was deep I felt your pain but also felt you healing we all go through darkness but it takes one guiding light to see us through you have many lights God your fam and more I ain't going nowhere no question with you to the end thank you doc thank you yeah you know sometimes you know stars only come out when it's dark You'll find who your friends are when it's dark.
52:23Shannon Sharpe:Friends are like stars, Ocho. They really come out when it's dark. Oh, yeah. Another guy, the guy that actually, the guy that I've really never had a whole lot of dealings with, Ocho, the guy that texts me every week, two and a half months straight, just to check, Charles Barkley. Hey, bro. Hey, Barkley, funny. I did the interview with him last, what, 24th Summer? 24th Summer. we changed information which i ain't expecting nobody yeah just like hey bro i'm just calling just calling just just checking on you keep your head up we all go through stuff and that meant a lot yeah and you know the funny thing too uh especially those in the chat you you know you got a lot of people around you you know whether you're doing good or you know you got money or whatnot you never know who your true friends are until you go through something till you go through something you never know you never know i'm telling you and i and i'm well i was able to resonate with you when when that stuff happened and when we talked about it last night and i thought about my circle my circle has always been small yeah so therefore when that when that issue when that problem happened the same people were right there hey unk t-o right there by my side everything good you good everything straight my same my same small circle from cincinnati my homeboys main lock los rico you know same group doing you know down here in miami my brother sam and chauncey oh that's less that's that's two hands less than that's two hands that's it yeah ain't nobody else everybody was right there so i had to go i had to go through that man they've been here man but when when the ship was sailing high when the ship sunk and now we back floating again that's it uh it's savage um ocho oklahoma native here how we looking man okc thunder sga sets a career high 55 points the first team to go back to back double overtime and win i know it's early but what do you guys take on you guys look good they're doing this without jay up.
54:38Shannon Sharpe:Their second best player hasn't been there. You know, Shea's going to be Shea. I think he shot like 26 free throws. He's going to get to the foul line. He's a tough cover. You know, he can get to the rim mid-range. You can shoot the three well enough that you can't just leave him open. Right. And then he puts pressure on you because he's going to attack, attack, attack, attack, attack. And he's going to make the officials. Either they're going to swallow their whistle or they're going to blow it. I hate that people call him that. I hate that they call him a free throw merchant. because he's able to manipulate his game and drawing fouls and get into the free throw line.
55:13Hell, D-Wade does it too. D-Wade did it too. Goddamn James Harden is also a master class when it comes to doing it as well. I mean, why do people do that?
55:24Shannon Sharpe:Well, they got to explain why he's playing the way he's playing. Right. So instead of getting, hey, the guy's immensely talented. Most guys drew a lot of free throws, though. Jordan used to draw a lot of free throws. Kobe used to draw a lot of free throws. Braun, for the amount of time that he drove the ball, Shaq didn't draw no free throws because Shaq had been shooting 30 free throws a game and then nobody wanted to see that. So they just let people beat the hell out of Shaq. Right. But most of the guys, Carl Malone shot a lot of free throws. The really good players normally shoot free throws, especially if you attack the rim.
55:59Shannon Sharpe:Tyson said, hey, could you give my family a shout out? We recently lost our father, Wilkins Gustav. Yes. So sorry to hear that, Tyson. Your family, hopefully in this time of sorrow, you have understanding, you find comfort and you find peace. And God gives you that. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. But just know he's in a good place now. No more pain, no more suffering. And you know what? If we live the life, you know, we shouldn't fear death. If we live the life that's worthy of living, that's the way we get to our ultimate destination is through death. So I guess that's the celebration that we should have.
56:45Shannon Sharpe:But Tyson, I agree for you and your family. Kristen Field says, Chauncey and Rozier tipped over dollars trying to pick up pennies. So sad. Uncle Nocho, now would y 'all feel if y 'all teammates sold the game for money? Yeah, I would feel some type of way. Yeah. You don't give out information? I ain't even talking to my people. Yeah, and you know the funny thing about it is, is the people that are in position to actually impact and affect games wouldn't be muffling and gambling anyway. They wouldn't be in position doing that. But they talk about the information. Oh, the information. Okay, okay.
57:22Shannon Sharpe:Hey, you know Carson ain't going to play this week. Don't say nothing, though. Right. Man, TJ, man, I don't know. I don't think TJ gonna play this week you see hey just like that right you ain't thinking nothing about it man Ocho say Carson ain't gonna play this week just like that Ocho they ain't got you caught up you just hey man I don't even know if Carson gonna play you just saying just hey that's why you can't no pillar talking yeah Triple X cop Saturday. NCAA approved a rule change on Wednesday that will allow athletes and athletic director, department staff members to bet on professional sports.
58:07Look, college football is coming just like the NFL.
58:12Shannon Sharpe:The reason why the coaches make so much money and the players are getting paid. That's why they're not putting up with that. You're not finna get nobody. You're not finna keep losing. Dabble not, no. No. They're paying too much. Brian Kelly probably going to walk away anyway because he said he wanted to go somewhere where he can compete for a championship. He ain't come close to compete. And they spent a boatload of money at LSU. He left Notre Dame because he said he wanted to compete for a championship. That's what he said. If it's a lie, he told it. He ain't come close. Losing to Alabama and Georgia?
58:52Shannon Sharpe:Okay, I get that. That's Alabama and Georgia. Vanderbilt put foot senior now oh yeah Vanderbilt ain't nothing to be joked up with this year now so
59:06but
59:08Shannon Sharpe:boy look here college football is professional sports now Ocho you look at the money you look at the money the coaching staff and the coaches make they got you know 15 to 20 million dollars tied up in the coaching staff you got somewhere between 8 and 15 million tied up in your team. Yeah. You know what I call it? I call it a starter kit. College football is now the starter kit before you make it to the league. We're going to give you a small semi-sized of what it's going to be like at the next level. You're absolutely correct. Dagnate Cobbins. You got to know when to hold them. You got to know when to fold them.
59:46Shannon Sharpe:You got to know when to walk away. Know when to run. You never count your money at the table. Kenny Rogers, if that's the gambler. You do. But here's the thing. You got to be careful if you're a professional athlete sitting at that table. Yeah.
1:00:05Shannon Sharpe:You never know. That's why you got to be careful how you talk to and who you talk to, Ocho. Let's just say I'm in the airport and I'm talking to somebody. I don't even know who it is. Somebody take a picture. He a mobster. Now, how do I explain that, Ocho? I'm just having a conversation. I don't know who this man is. You mean to tell me you don't know who he was? No, who is he? You mean to tell me you don't know who that is? Mofo, I told you I didn't know who that was. Now, who is he? You see? Got caught up just that quick. You're having a conversation. You're in a restaurant, Ocho. Hey, how you doing, Mr.
1:00:39Shannon Sharpe:Sharp? Hey, how you doing? I'm such and such. There you go. If you don't say Sammy the Bull, I don't know who he'll say. You know what I'm saying? Sammy the Bull? yeah you don't say something like that I don't know who the hell you are right lucky Luciano my last you don't say no name like that rest their soul I don't know yeah and then obviously you know they don't look like that no more exactly they don't dress like that no more Timothy Humphrey salute Uncle Nocho y 'all y 'all talking facts the Giants idiot kicker cost me my parlay Brea Carter the NBA is definitely rigged cause how the Mavs trade their franchise player but get rewarded with the number one pick.
1:01:20Shannon Sharpe:Make it make sense. That's a good one.
1:01:26Shannon Sharpe:Saucy, Uncle Nocho, who has the best band halftime show? Florida A &M. Fam U. Sam, uh... Ooh-wee. Florida A &M. Florida, listen, I love it. The Sonic, what they call it? The Sonic Boom? Yeah. Wait who's the human jukebox Human jukebox but listen Fam U Savannah State First of all you can't claim no HBCU Cause you didn't go Say Oregon State Fam U Fam and you didn't go there I'm so glad I went to Oregon State I'm so glad I went to Oregon State Fam U You didn't go to no Fam U Hey man I'm a rattler man since 1984 I don't care you did not go I did go You about to drove by there No I went to every class since 1984 Now the fact that I didn't have the grades to get in there that's my fault Wait a minute Fam U made me an honorary an honorary member of not only the band, but the school.
1:02:46Hey, you a beaver.
1:02:54Shannon Sharpe:You a beaver. You don't get the claim. You do not get the claim. We appreciate that. Thank you for highlighting what's great and the excellence associated with historically black colleges and universities. Unfortunately, Mr. Johnson, you did not attend one. I went to an HBCU and I did it when it wasn't cool, when it wasn't popular. The only time you heard about it is when Lou Rawls was talking about the United Negro College Fund because the mind is a terrible thing to waste. Hold on. Hold on. I was only at Oregon State for four months. So technically, that don't count. That don't count? Let me ask you a question.
1:03:32Shannon Sharpe:I'm a rapper. So when they put your name up, they say starting at wide receiver, number 85, Chad Johnson. What was under that? Was it FAMU or Oregon State? It said FAMU then slash FAMU. It said Oregon State. It said Oregon State slash FAMU. You had some orange in there, but it was a different type of orange.
1:03:56Shannon Sharpe:Claim them. Claim them sorry rascals. Hey, listen. I've always been a rat that hard, man. Always. Nah, you don't get to... You don't get to do that. Hey, listen, we'd be Savannah State. I know that. We'd be Savannah State. Hey, hold on. Who is we? Fam, what you mean who is we? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. You did not attend there. David, Uncle Don't Your Greetings from Napa Valley, y 'all. Y 'all should come visit for some wine tasting and a beautiful scenery. Can't wait until 2026, son. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's going to be on. It's going to be on, David. You know, you know. We're going to be back.
1:04:38Shannon Sharpe:yep and better than ever Shakur said would you rather have Curry with Shaq size or Shaq with Curry shooting him man either one it doesn't matter man you what you gonna if Shaq can shoot three if Shaq was his size and can shoot three like Curry that man average 100 points a game yeah that wouldn't even be fair no I mean just just think if God had made Steph Curry 6 '8". Oh, hell no. With his ability to shoot like that. Nah, that ain't feel good. Y 'all want the man to have everything. Y 'all want to be 6 '8", shoot like that, have the ball like that. Kimber Norwood Jr., my question is, what are your top three basketball movies?

You won't even look me in the eye. That's pain. You say I can't touch you. I can't touch you no more. Baby, stop! It's pain in the lyrics. It's pain in the lyrics. I bet y 'all saw that woman seven times in concert. If she's anywhere and I'm going. In Denver, Atlanta, the Variety Playhouse, LA, if she is anywhere, anywhere, I'm going. That woman, boys.
