In short
The episode is a sports talk “Nightcap Hour 2” focused on NFL roster moves and team outlooks, plus a debate update about Cam Ward and a discussion of Deshaun Watson’s Browns situation.
Guests
Ocho (sports commentator/host voice) and Joe (co-host).
Guest backgrounds
Ocho and Joe speak as football insiders/fans; Ocho specifically references Titans beat coverage and NFL personnel decisions, while Joe debates Dolphins/Jaguars/Cowboys/Ravens matchups and contract implications.
Key claims
Dolphins HC Jeff Hafley says success is process/foundation, not just wins; Dolphins are rebuilding and trading QB Quinn Ewers to the Jaguars for day-three 2028 picks. Ocho argues the Cam Ward question response makes sense given beat reporter Jordan/ Jared Stillman’s critical history. Steelers trade OT Broderick Jones to the Cowboys for a 2027 third and sixth (from a 2027 fourth). Andrew Brandt’s take: Browns starting Deshaun Watson is a “no-brainer” to see if they can salvage the $230M; critics say it’s hard to justify given dead cap and age/performance decline.
Notable examples
Dolphins “feeder fish” talk; Steelers Jones injury (neck surgery, week 11 vs Bears); Watson contract/dead-cap math; Titans/Stillman comments about Robert Saleh not playing Ward.

2:50Chad Johnson:Yours need to be happy, bro. I'm just keeping it real. When the last time Miami developed no damn quarterbacks over the last some odd year, man. Listen, let that man go. Where do you end up going to, Ojo? Yeah. He's going to be third string,
3:09Joe Johnson:huh? He's not backing up Trevor Lawrence. I know they got a number two over there already.
3:15Shannon Sharpe:Maybe. I was trying to look and see who the Jags had on their quarterback.
3:21Chad Johnson:Yeah, he ain't gonna play no time soon.
3:23Shannon Sharpe:Absolutely not. That ain't happening.
3:26Joe Johnson:But no, I'm not surprised.
3:28Shannon Sharpe:They got Trevor Lawrence and Joey Aguilar. I think he played at Tennessee. Aguilar? Yeah.
3:38Joe Johnson:So wait, if they let Huers go.
3:44Shannon Sharpe:I guess they like your guy, Ojo. Don't you got Zach Wilson? Zach Wilson play in Miami?
3:48Joe Johnson:Zach is in New Orleans, remember? He done moved on to New Orleans, okay.
3:52Shannon Sharpe:So who in Miami now?
3:54Joe Johnson:I don't know who the number two is. I know Malik Willis is the starter.
3:57Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
4:06Shannon Sharpe:Man, I'm in here trying to Google. I'm up here putting guffies in there and wonder why Google won't shoot me nothing.
4:11Joe Johnson:Hey, you gotta respect my dog.
4:17Joe Johnson:Cam Miller Cam Miller Who that is?
4:22Shannon Sharpe:A backup And then Mark Gronkowski I don't know him
4:31Joe Johnson:You think he related to Gronk?
4:34Shannon Sharpe:I doubt it
4:40Shannon Sharpe:I doubt it Because I think the thing is If I can trade a guy that I'm going to release and get some level of compensation, a seventh-round pick, who you never know. Get lucky. Give me a day three pick, I'll take him.
4:57Joe Johnson:You might find you a gem.
5:00Shannon Sharpe:You might.
5:01Joe Johnson:A little diamond in the rough. Air Blue Moon, sometimes you hit now. I know one thing.
5:07Shannon Sharpe:I'm sorry, Joe. Because I was trying to put guppies in here and wonder why they wouldn't put you on me nothing.
5:14Joe Johnson:I mean, we the same guppies that put 70 on your team, ain't it? Didn't we put 70 on the Bronco?
5:20Shannon Sharpe:Joe, what you say? That's old news. Y 'all done blew y 'all team up. Y 'all team done got blown completely up.
5:26Joe Johnson:I know, but listen, I don't have any expectations this year because I understand that the Dolphins are in a rebuild. I'm talking about a complete rebuild, a complete overhaul. I understand that. Hey, Joe, it's going to be a rough year. I can't even talk trash. I can't even. if we have games where we happen to win that's awesome that's a great thing because we rebuilding
5:49Chad Johnson:man they ain't trying to win you know they want that number one pick

6:48Shannon Sharpe:Hey Joe, I be looking at that, I said like, oh yeah, that's about 10 for a buck 40 and two touchdowns right there. That be kind of game you look at?
6:55Joe Johnson:That's how y 'all feel?
6:58Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you already know y 'all some trash.
7:02Joe Johnson:Okay, okay.
7:05Shannon Sharpe:What?

7:56Joe Johnson:you look at the schedule and it looks so easy you try to mark off games you go in
8:01Shannon Sharpe:boy don't know the guppies is an easy game you mark it off as a win Y 'all feeder fish. You know what guppies are. They're feeder fish. They feed guppies.
8:12Joe Johnson:You gave them that name. You gave them. They're dolphins. And dolphins are the ones that eat the guppies. Hey.
8:23Hey.
8:24Shannon Sharpe:Don't we play the guppies in December?
8:27Joe Johnson:Who? The Broncos? Nah, y 'all not on here? Oh, yeah, yeah. 12-6. Where we play? Y 'all play? We play out there? In Denver, December 6th. Boy, we going to beat the... You won't bet nothing. We going to beat the dog.
8:49Shannon Sharpe:Boy, we going to... Boy.
8:51Chad Johnson:Okay. Hey, we got Auknam, I think, week three. Dallas. The Cowboys? We got the Ravens. Yeah, the Cowboys.
9:00Shannon Sharpe:Oh, yeah, you know good well y 'all don't want the Broncos. You already know that.
9:04Chad Johnson:I'm going to tell you, I know that's your team. I don't know when we played the Broncos.
9:09Shannon Sharpe:The last time y 'all beat the Broncos, Joe, you might have been about two years old.
9:12Chad Johnson:You talking about that old stuff again, huh?
9:15Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all ain't beat, you ain't beat, as long as you been alive to know football, y 'all ain't beat. Well, the last time y 'all beat us, y 'all beat us in 95.
9:25Chad Johnson:That ain't the last time. You trying to tell me that's the last time the Cowboys beat the Broncos? Ain't no way.
9:30Shannon Sharpe:The last time, 95.
9:32Chad Johnson:Ain't no way. Hey, that's the last time.
9:34Joe Johnson:Go back and look it up. 95. That's a long time ago, boy.
9:37Shannon Sharpe:Man, man, you don't want to exaggerate. And ever since then, y 'all, we done beat the brakes off, y 'all. Peyton beat y 'all. Yeah, the Broncos. Beat y 'all. Tettit Bridgewater done beat y 'all. Bo Nix beat y 'all. Yeah, yeah, y 'all ain't beat us since 95. Man, Joe. Y 'all ain't missing New Year's ghetto, huh?
9:56Chad Johnson:He already know.
9:57Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all ain't beat the, y 'all ain't never beat the Ravens, I don't think.
10:05Shannon Sharpe:Yes, I'm right. Y 'all beat us.
10:08Joe Johnson:Damn, Joe.
10:10Chad Johnson:Ash, Ash, you should have kept it to yourself, man. She didn't even keep it to us. You should have let his mind wander, Ash.
10:17Shannon Sharpe:My mind wander, I know. That's why I told you. Last time y 'all beat us, it was in 95.
10:24Chad Johnson:You ain't lying, boy. Show said on Google, too. September 10th, 95.
10:29Shannon Sharpe:Damn. Yes.
10:30Chad Johnson:But that's old, though. I told y 'all, if it ain't happened yesterday, y 'all don't really remember.
10:34Shannon Sharpe:If we'd have played y 'all yesterday, if we played y 'all today, we'd have beat y 'all today, too.
10:41Shannon Sharpe:We'd have beat y 'all today, too. Only thing is, we ain't play y 'all.
10:47Chad Johnson:Damn.
10:51Shannon Sharpe:Wait, did you?
10:54Chad Johnson:Oh, you know what?
10:55Shannon Sharpe:That was, you know what? That was Joe.
11:00Shannon Sharpe:You know what? That was Lamar's rookie year. Joe Flacco probably played. I don't count that.
11:06Joe Johnson:You ain't going to count a Super Bowl champ MVP, Joe Flacco? Okay.
11:14Shannon Sharpe:Because what you call it? What you call it should have gotten that award? Jacoby.
11:17Joe Johnson:Oh, yeah. He cut up in that Super Bowl. Did he not cut up? He cut up in that Super Bowl.
11:23Shannon Sharpe:Kick return for a touchdown. Passing for a touchdown. Receipt reception for a touchdown. But no, no. Flacco was sensational. That whole playoff run. He beat Andrew Luck. He beat Peyton Manning. He beat Tom Brady. And he beat Colin Kaepernick. I mean, it would have been hard-pressed to find somebody that had a better run than that in the postseason. And Kaepernick would play it out of his mind. He would play it out of his mind. But to go on the road and beat Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.
12:02Shannon Sharpe:He did a hell of a job. He did a hell of a job. The Dolphins head coach, Jeff Hapley, says he won't measure the team's success this season by wins and losses. Listen to what this man is.
12:14Joe Johnson:I asked you. Let me say this. We and I want to win everything that we do. But success is not just defined by winning. Winning for sure, right? That's why we play the game. and I think every competitor wants to win in everything that we do. But it's kind of like what I was just talking about before. We're going to compete. I want to win in everything that we do. I've said that over and over. But at the same time, we need to make sure that this foundation and the process is built the right way. And like I was saying, that there's no shortcuts because it's bigger than that right now. And those are the things that are really important is we move this thing forward and we build and we find out who we have, what we have, because we want to get back on top.
13:02And to do that, you got to go through some hard stuff with competing in mind to win in everything that we do, but keeping the main thing, our process, in the detail and the toughness and not taking any shortcuts and not flinching along the way regardless of what happens. So at the end of the year, we can look back and say, this foundation is strong and we're not going away. so basically in short it's the difference between trying to talk to your friends over the music at a bar and having dinner where you can actually hear each other between getting food delivered and cooking something you know she's gonna love it's the difference between a rough nicotine pouch and on plus nicotine pouches with nico silk mash no corners no rough edges just the softest pouch on the planet on plus nicotine pouches it's the difference that changes everything not all varieties available in all geographies.

That's the reaction a lot of people are having when they first try Kewpie mayo. It's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle. You've probably seen it in the grocery store before. And if you've ever just walked past it, some people would say that's a huge mistake. Because this mayo is different.
14:24Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. Kewpie only uses egg yolks, which gives it this rich umami flavor. It's smoother, deeper, and almost buttery. Once people try it, they start putting it on everything. Egg sandwiches, fries, burgers. Some fans even swear by dipping pizza crust in it. And once you notice it, you start seeing it everywhere. Chefs use it. Restaurants use it. People who really care about flavor use it. Never tried it? Grab the bottle with the red cap next time you're at the store. Put it on just about anything. 16:57Joe Johnson:He's saying we don't have enough to compete, let alone win.
17:02Shannon Sharpe:you're going to look back on the season and say we suck we suck last year we suck the year before that we suck the year before that we've been sucking a long time and we're going to be continue to suck for a long time
17:12Joe Johnson:okay hey he said foundation process with great understanding that I don't have what it takes right now to compete I don't I just don't he knows that we're in a rebuild stage he can't say some of those things. So he's saying it in cryptic format. I understand it. His hands are tied behind his back. Because he don't have much to work with.
17:39Shannon Sharpe:Joe, when a man did all that talking, it ain't mentioned nothing about winning. That lets you know right there your team suck.
17:47Chad Johnson:He trying to get some more victories.
17:53Shannon Sharpe:How many times did you hear him say, like I said before?
17:56Joe Johnson:Hey, he knows he has a long season. The one thing I did hear you say before about winning. He knows he has a long season. I think Dolphins fans, we understand we have a long season. Anybody on the outside looking in that knows the game of football understands the Dolphins are going to have a long season. They're going to have some upsets. They're going to have some games that they win, Unc, that they shouldn't have won. It's going to happen.
18:17Chad Johnson:No, they ain't. No, they ain't. Them folks might win two games. Thank you. Two. I give y 'all two, Ojo. with 170 what nine million in dead cap, man all them dudes y 'all peeing around, man. That ain't on your team. They ain't even on your team bro.
18:34Joe Johnson:Hey that's part of, you know.
18:38Chad Johnson:Gambling, it's part of gambling, that's what they do.
18:41Joe Johnson:Hey we, we reupholstering. Damn, y 'all just uber. I know, it sucks for you. No it don't suck, I understand, I see the vision long term, I'm not tripping. I can't see that with the Hubble telescope
18:58Shannon Sharpe:and the Hubble telescope I can see craters
19:00Joe Johnson:I can see the rings Saturn I can see the mountains and Jupiter
19:11Joe Johnson:I will still be here laughing y 'all not going to be good in a year or two we going to dominate the AFC East so where's Josh Allen going He's going to be there, but we're going to dominate them. So what about Drake May? Where he going? We're definitely going to dominate them. We're definitely going to dominate them. Now, the Jets, they're going to be at the bottom of the barrel. It's going to be a three-team competing in the AFC East. You hear me?
19:36Shannon Sharpe:Y 'all fighting. Y 'all two crabs in the barrel. Y 'all in the Jets. Y 'all crab in the barrel.
19:49Shannon Sharpe:I just don't see it, Ocho. But, hey, bless his heart. He a head coach. You know he has his work cut out for them. Their best players, they're all gone.
20:00Shannon Sharpe:So, we'll see how that work out for them. It don't look promising.
20:05Joe Johnson:We got some solid receivers, man. All they got to do is make plays. All they got to do is make plays, Joe.
20:12Chad Johnson:What about defense?
20:14Joe Johnson:We decent. we decent we decent you know we decent my grandma used to say boy today don't look good and tomorrow don't look too much better hey joe we decent i'm telling i'm telling you we're gonna surprise a few
20:28Shannon Sharpe:teams not joe no they're not joe no they're not pretty surprised no you're gonna surprise you don't get beat by more than what you got beat by i remember this conversation we had not before
20:38Joe Johnson:the season started.
20:42Shannon Sharpe:Write it down. Take a picture. I don't know.
20:48Shannon Sharpe:Man, y 'all tell me, Ocho, you know it. Damn.
20:54Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, I heard you have an update on our Cam Ward debate last night. What you got for us?
20:59Joe Johnson:Absolutely, Joe. Listen, I had to go back and do my homework. For those in the chat that are Tennessee Titans fans, obviously you guys already had a better understanding on why he answered the question the way he did again unc and i we got in a heated debate about the way he answered the question so i had to go do my homework on the reporter i think his name is jaron or jared stillman and uh yeah and he has been one that has been very critical not just cam ward very critical of the titans in general oh hey i'm talking about very critical i had to go back and watch some of his youtube stuff uh As a reporter, he has a job to do.
21:34Joe Johnson:I'm not saying anything about him and not being negative in any way. He has a job to do, and that is to report on the Titans and give his assessment on how he feels about them. And just watching some of his stuff, and last year he was very, Uncle Joe, very critical of our quarterback, Cam Ward, and some of the things that he said. Obviously justified, yes, a little too harsh. Maybe it depends on who you ask. But again, he has a job to do. He wants to remain a credible source based on what he sees. And when he makes up. He wants to remain gainfully employed. That too. And I think Cam knowing and hearing it all the time and hearing it from this specific person who is a beat reporter and is always there and always critical and chastising him, now I get a better understanding why the answer was what it was.
22:27Joe Johnson:Again, I respect Mr. Steelman. He has a job to do. is being someone that follows the Titans and he knows the ins and outs. And I see some of the stuff he said. He also said that Robert Sellar didn't play Cam Ward in the last game because he didn't want the conversation about Cam Ward looking bad again to be the topic of conversation before the season even starts. So that's his spiel in a sense. Hey, he does good work. I'm assuming so for those that do like him and do watch him as a beat reporter. So now I get a better understanding on why Cam Ward responded the way he did. So, I mean, it is what it is.
23:08Joe Johnson:Hopefully, hopefully Cam Ward does what he needs to do week one and the rest of the season to continue to improve and do everything he can to not only justify his play but play better than he did last year and get through those growing pains but do everything he can to make sure he's the best version of himself for the Titans and Robert Sala so we can prove Mr. Stillman wrong. I'm hoping he does.
23:36Shannon Sharpe:Are you apologizing to Joe and I? Huh? Are you apologizing to Joe and I because you were quite hostile last night. And I was afraid.
23:43Joe Johnson:I was hostile?
23:46Shannon Sharpe:You were hostile.
23:49Chad Johnson:Yeah, you were sweating it all, wiping your forehead and everything.
23:51Shannon Sharpe:I got a little emotional, Uncle Joe. Saying some things to me. I was like, oh, my gosh. Who is this guy?
23:57Joe Johnson:Nah, I was just a little emotional, Joe. You know, I get, hey, Joe, I get like that every blue moon, especially when the kind of football season, Joe, like depending on your topic, and I get really invested, hey, Joe, I was really invested, hey, Joe. Yeah, it was tough. And a lot of people, some people agree with me, some people didn't, and that's gonna happen. That's gonna happen. Yeah, for sure. So, you know, I...
24:19Shannon Sharpe:The people that agree with me, look, thank you, though, Joe. You say something, you stand by, and you move on. Everybody ain't, no matter what. You might say Chase is the best receiver in football and you got facts to back it up. But there going to be some people that say, nah, I like JSN. I like Puka. Okay, that's your opinion. I said what I said. Oh, you this and you know that. This guy, this, this, that guy. I understand that. Y 'all see what y 'all getting wrong is that y 'all think these reporters are the players' friends. and Ocho need to, Ocho need to, cause Ocho can explain it to you better than I can.
25:00Shannon Sharpe:The reporters are not their friends.
25:03Chad Johnson:No, son.
25:04Shannon Sharpe:And then once you understand that, oh, he's been critical,
25:08Joe Johnson:he's gonna be critical until you prove him wrong. Absolutely. And that's what I'm hoping he does. Because I went through, I went through most of Steelman, Mr. Steelman, you do a hell of a job as the Titans beat reporter. I watched as many YouTubes as possible. And boy, hey, you don't give him no slack. He don't cut them tight and no slack. Hey, Uncle Joe. He on their head.
25:32Chad Johnson:When the last time the Titans had a winning season, bro?
25:39Chad Johnson:That's a good one.
25:43Was it Tom Brady's last year?
25:50Shannon Sharpe:Was it Tom Brady's last year in New England? and they beat New England and made the playoffs? Who was the quarterback? No, no, no, no, no, no. It was 21. Y 'all went down and beat them, Ocho, in 2021. Y 'all beat them. Remember, y 'all beat them. They sacked your world nine times. That's right, that's right, that's right, that's right. And then y 'all beat them in the divisional, and then Cincinnati went to the AFC Championship game and beat Kansas City.
26:18Joe Johnson:Who was the quarterback? From Oregon, right? Mariota, no, or am I tripping? No, no, no, Tannehill, I think. Tannehill, okay.
26:28Shannon Sharpe:Yeah.
26:32Shannon Sharpe:Joe, do you hear anything in there? It sound like an apology to you?
26:35Chad Johnson:Nah, ain't here.
26:36Joe Johnson:Oh, my bad, my bad, Twini, my bad. My bad, you know, you know, you know. What?
26:42Shannon Sharpe:Joe, I just think, you know what? I just think you and Ocho just got to scrap it out, because right now, he being very disrespectful. What I did?
26:50Joe Johnson:I ain't even said he nothing.
26:52Shannon Sharpe:you're talking about he go hey he already talked about he ain't paying you your money he didn't apologize for standing you up uh hold on jordan stood me up twice i'd have been atlanta
27:02Chad Johnson:twice hey oh don't worry i got something for him when we get to houston next week don't worry i got something for him yeah i don't see see one thing about me chad one thing about me i ain't gonna do a whole lot of talking ain't what i do i ain't gonna do it i'm about straight action partner you hear me yeah yeah yeah yeah i'm about straight action so i ain't i ain't finna do all this tongue wrestling i ain't gonna do none of that when you see me talking but you still be talking right now i'm just kind of giving you i'm giving y 'all an example you know what i mean i'm just letting you know how it's gonna go synopsis is still talking so i'm trying to
27:37Joe Johnson:understand exactly what he's trying i'm fair warning i'm fair warning you that's what the
27:40Chad Johnson:I'm doing okay.
27:42Joe Johnson:Hey, you know you used to call me Thumper huh?
27:45Chad Johnson:Man I ain't trying to hear nothing about Thumper. I don't give a damn what they call you. They call me Thumper and Hellehan. So which one you want? Okay, all right. All right, well you better bring both of them to Houston. Bring both of them. Yeah, that's what you better do.
27:58Joe Johnson:Hey, Joe gonna be like, man, somebody jump me. Nah, ain't nobody jump you. It's gonna feel like two people. Hey, you loving him like that? It's gonna feel like you got jump and keep playing around.
28:10Chad Johnson:Hey, that's what a dude say when he get his ass whooped. He be like, oh man, there's like three, four of them. Hell, it wasn't but one dude.
28:20Chad Johnson:It was one dude. Three, four dudes. Hell, no, it was just one.
28:25Joe Johnson:Hey, I'ma put these boots on him. I'm telling you. Oh, yeah, I forgot.
28:32Chad Johnson:I'ma have his ass sliding out. Look, what?
28:35Shannon Sharpe:What you thinking? Hey, you ain't gonna put no taps on him.
28:41Joe Johnson:Nah, uh-uh. You gonna walk down the hill, Ocho? I'm gonna be all right. I'm gonna be all right. You know, I can, hey. You gonna be all right? Boy, Joe. Hey, I'm telling you, boy, Joe. I'm telling you. Hey, you see the stand, Joe? Yeah.
28:58Shannon Sharpe:Hey, Joe, he tried to wear them boots to get them broken in. Boy, they tear your damn feet up.
29:04Chad Johnson:Hey, hey, the side of them feet, they gonna be right.
29:09Shannon Sharpe:Man, like I told you, man, I got a pair of men. I ain't broke this thing. I ain't broke this thing damn near 30 years. I can't break this thing, save my damn life.
29:16Chad Johnson:Yo. Hey, old Joe, they say everybody look good, bro. Everybody got a plan to their ass get hit.
29:23Joe Johnson:You gotta understand, that's what I do, Joe. Like, I fight, Joe, I box. I'm in the combat sports. You not used to that. Once I, hey.
29:31Chad Johnson:Man, you don't know what, that's what I'm trying to tell you. You don't know how I train, you don't know what I do. You don't know none of that. You don't know that.
29:39Joe Johnson:You don't know if I box, you don't know what I do. I'm going to your chest, you hear me? I'm going to your chest, boy. And I'm glad you so tall, because I'm not even going to aim at your head. I'm going to just aim right here. Right at your chest. I'm going to make you cough up blood.
29:54Chad Johnson:How that boy Fedora did Keith. He pop shot in that boy.
30:03Joe Johnson:Hold on. How you gonna fight me with that praying mantis set? What's this?
30:09Chad Johnson:Ocho, because see, I ain't got to come from way back here. I'm straight like this here. I'm guarding my grill. As soon as you get in reach, I'm coming from right here to right the bank.
30:19Joe Johnson:Joe, man, I'm finna parry that bullshit you throwing, Joe. I'm finna, man, get that out of here, man. Man, get that out of here. Joe, I'm coming through that, Joe. I'm telling you, Joe, this ain't nothing to play with, boy. I done been in the doghouse, man, in that ring, man. This ain't what you want, man.
30:37Chad Johnson:Okay. All right. Okay.
30:40Joe Johnson:Tell you what. All right.

That's the reaction a lot of people are having when they first try Kewpie mayo. It's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle. You've probably seen it in the grocery store before. And if you've ever just walked past it, some people would say that's a huge mistake. Because this mayo is different.
31:51Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. Then you'll understand. Kupi, the original Japanese mayonnaise. Chat GPT can do more than answer questions.

34:24Shannon Sharpe:The Steelers are trading OT Broderick Jones and a 2027 fourth round pick to the Cowboys in exchange for a 2027 third and sixth round pick. Drafted 14 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023, Jones served as the Steelers' starting left tackle during the 2025 season before season-ending neck surgery in week 11 against the Bears cut it short. Even before the injury, Broderick had given up six sacks and 23 pressures in 25. This came after 24, in which he gave up 11 sacks in 17 games. Joe, how do you feel about them signing a sack allowing specialists?
35:02Chad Johnson:Hey, chill out, chill out, chill out, chill out. Look, look, Jones, look, I seen Jones play at Georgia. He a Georgia boy, huh? Uh-huh. You know, a two-time champion, two-time college football champion in Georgia. I think he can move people. You know, I think he recently, like you said, he just had, what, spinal surgery or something? He had a neck.
35:22Shannon Sharpe:He hurt his neck.
35:24Chad Johnson:Yeah, but I watched him play. His biggest downfall, I think, is just his inconsistency. He's very athletic. He's a very athletic guy who can really move. Decent run blocker. Good in pass protection. He's young, man. Just three years of NFL experience. He ain't been like 24, 25. Uncle Ocho, I think he still has some upside. but the inconsistencies bro we got to nip them in the bud right now because hell we already got look at it what is it saying more than anything it's probably letting you know that hell they
35:52Shannon Sharpe:don't trust steel yeah they've been yeah i've been told you that yeah they don't trust him
35:56Chad Johnson:because he's been inconsistent as well so man listen he gonna have to get it together bro we we we gonna need that we need that that blocking now a bad don't know a miles garrett looking at
36:08Shannon Sharpe:He said he don't care who y 'all got there. Him and Fisk and Jones. What's the other thing? They got another D-tackle that be getting after folks too. I forget his name. But ooh.
36:18Chad Johnson:Them boys serious. I ain't gonna lie. Them boys serious. Them boys serious.
36:23Shannon Sharpe:But man, the Steelers and the Cowboys been doing a lot of trade lately. Ain't it man? They been doing a lot of trade. Jerry done found him a partner that danced with him. He's like, okay, let's go back to your dance.
36:39Chad Johnson:Yeah, yeah. But, hey, if – I will give Jerry credit this year.
36:45Shannon Sharpe:I think he's going above and beyond. He's still out there trying to make sure this team has what it takes, has everything it needs to get to where he know. Jerry know he – hey, I can't be dilly-dallying around. I want to be in a situation where I win. I want to hold that Lombardi trophy one more time.
37:07Chad Johnson:before he check out.
37:08Shannon Sharpe:One more time. I'm going to let Steven and I'm going to let Jerry Jr. I'm going to let Charlotte and I'm going to let y 'all run it. But I got to touch it one more time. I got to be on that stage and have Roger Goodell hand me that trophy one more time.
37:19Chad Johnson:He got a good chance, Uncle Ochoa. I think we got a solid defense that's definitely improved. I think they're going to be a lot better this year. We know offensively how high power we are. Don't you act like that. Uncle, what's wrong with you, man?
37:32Shannon Sharpe:It ain't going to happen.
37:33Chad Johnson:Come on, man. Stop that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Look, A.A., the last thing y 'all want is for them Cowboys to be kicking some ASS. I know y 'all don't want that. I know y 'all don't want that. Y 'all probably going to want 13-4.
37:47Joe Johnson:Y 'all going to have a phenomenal regular season like always. That's not the problem. It's not you kicking ass in the regular season, Joe. It's when you get to the postseason.
37:56Chad Johnson:Well, we got to start somewhere. Okay, Ocho, if we kick ass in the regular season, cool. Then we're worried about the playoff when we get to it. We can't worry about that right now. Okay.
38:05Joe Johnson:Okay. My bad. My bad, Turbo.
38:16Shannon Sharpe:That's all. That's all. I just want the playoffs to roll around and then y 'all do what y 'all do. You know what y 'all do.
38:25Chad Johnson:Well, what the Ravens do when the playoffs get here? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Oh, okay. Nice. Whoa, nice. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. How do you do that?
38:32Shannon Sharpe:that we talk about the Cowboys. We talk about the Ravens a later date in time. Yeah. Right now is the date and the time to talk about the Cowboys.
38:41Chad Johnson:Hey, listen. Y 'all got us bit this year. I'm just letting y 'all know. And I'm front and center with it every night. Yeah. Front and center. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I'm supporting you, Joe.
38:53Joe Johnson:Offensively, I'm supporting you. You know, it's still up in there on the defense. Now, we don't know what the defense is going to look like even with even with you know the pickups y 'all done made you know the draft you know so we're gonna see i know what you i know what i know what them boys on the outside gonna do but that cdn pick
39:11Chad Johnson:hey hey man you gotta bet though for the who got the best record at the bingos and the cowboys you ain't pay me the 500 you owe me because we put that behind us we done put that behind How we going with the behinders? You ain't paid me yet, Joe. We didn't discuss. It was too bad. It was too lopsided. I didn't feel like I had to pay you, bro. I thought we were good on that.
39:35Chad Johnson:I thought we moving forward, bro. New season. New season. New me. New you.
39:41Joe Johnson:It's only 500, Joe. Come on, man. That ain't nothing, boy. You live on a property. You can't give me 500? You know what?
39:50Chad Johnson:You want me to tell you what happened? When we got on here that night, the way you were gloating and all that, it just pissed me off. And I was like, you know what? I ain't even paying his ass. Okay. Yeah. Hey, Joe. Chad, he had me so high, Chad, when we got on, he was so happy. You could see nothing but his damn teeth. I said, you know what? Damn, man, I ain't paying his ass. He's way too damn happy.
40:14Shannon Sharpe:That's why I don't like betting guys until I bet. That ain't even your team.
40:18Joe Johnson:It's all good. It's cool. It's cool. Hey, Joe, I got some more stuff for you, man. I'm going to wait until later on in the show, man, until it get good. I'm going to show you some new stuff, man. You and your old lady can try it at home, man.
40:35Chad Johnson:Oh, no. We talked about it. Hold on, Joe.
40:37Joe Johnson:I know y 'all probably talked about it, but this is a little bit more lean, so I think you're kind of, you know, I'll wait until we get through the rest of the segment. I think you'll like it, though, Joe. Don't knock it until you try it, man. all right hey hey hey all right all right yeah man for my baby okay baby if you if you if you watch it baby come down here man grab that stuff from you man so we could uh we could show joe
41:03Chad Johnson:so you can show chat and uh enjoy my bad well i was just trying to focus on y 'all trying to focus on you joe but you know nah nah nah it's a man we got to see there 20 000 people in the chat man you know we got 20 000 people watching on this on a saturday we just oh you're just chilling
41:20Joe Johnson:hey hey chad i want to thank y 'all i i really can't see the chat right now i appreciate y 'all thank you because there's so many other things you could be doing on a saturday night but y 'all here with us you hear me hey from me to you here huh here high five high five yeah yeah
41:42Joe Johnson:I love y 'all man Matter of fact I love y 'all so much I'm gonna give you my phone number Call me 786 Write this down I don't care just call me 786 685
41:57Joe Johnson:8585 Yeah Whoever text me first I love y 'all man I think you know outside of the chat we need to be A little bit more friendly I wanted to be I want to feel like we family for real, man.
42:17Shannon Sharpe:Former NFL executive Andrew Brandt called the Browns' decision to start Deshaun Watson a no-brainer. The Browns have to find out if they got anything for this$230 million. This was a no-brainer to me. If you got Deshaun Watson somewhat healthy, play him. Why not? You're not going to the Super Bowl. Play Deshaun Watson. See what you got for$230 million. you. You already know what you got. This is more than a sunk cost. This is the Titanic. This is not a sunk. This is not a sunk cost. It's an easy choice. It's a fluid one. As we know with the Browns, the things could change in a heartbeat. This boggles the mind.
42:50Shannon Sharpe:The most secure and strongest contract in NFL history went to this guy. So what do you mean? Hold on, Ocho. He contradicts himself. In one minute, he says, let's see what we got. Let's see if we can salvage 230. We're not going to the Super Bowl. You're not going to make the playoffs. So if you're not going to make the playoffs, you're not going to go to the Super Bowl.
43:11Joe Johnson:How do you salvage anything, Ocho? Listen, we paid you this money. The money is already gone. You got 46 coming this year. Well, hell, honestly, I don't think it was a quarterback competition to begin with. Honestly, I don't think it was a quarterback competition. But they created one. You know, they masqueraded as if it was going to be one. but I said it before it even started I knew Deshaun was going to start based on the money based on the principle just of it even if we're not going to Super Bowl hell we might not be going to the playoffs but I know one thing you're going to earn this 46 million your ass is going to be sitting on the bench making it and I'm not cutting you because if I cut you I still got to pay you anyway because it's guaranteed so I got to get something out of
43:54Shannon Sharpe:and it celebrates the dead cap
43:59Shannon Sharpe:damn But the problem is, Ocho, when you release him and make it a post-June 1st cut, you handicapped him for the next two years. That's$86 million. That's tough. That's$43 million a year in dead cap space.
44:15Joe Johnson:That's tough. Listen, I don't have no horse in this race, Uncle Joe. I don't. I love love. I'm waiting. I'm waiting for Shadu to play. I am. I can't wait until he plays because it's exciting. It gives the Browns something. to give the Brown fans and that stadium and that city something exciting to cheer for. I think they're fed up with Deshaun. I don't think there's anything that he can do to change how they feel about him. It would be temporary, but what he can do, he can do the best that he can, try to be somewhat of a version of himself when he was in Houston, show flashes, and play well. Play well.
44:52Joe Johnson:That's all he can do. Hopefully get some wins behind that. I just don't like the fact that it's going to be so much press on him as a quarterback. He's going to press. He's going to press. He's going to press. And you know what happens when you press.
45:07Shannon Sharpe:Yes. But here's the thing. What I find it really hard to believe is that, guys, we're asking a guy to be something he once was. And he hadn't been that since 2019. 2020, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. Now is 26, seven years ago.
45:36Shannon Sharpe:I just don't know.
45:44Joe Johnson:I don't know, man.
45:48Joe Johnson:What you think, Joe?
45:51Chad Johnson:that's a tough one man hey I'm like you Ocho I don't never when I think back on it I don't even think it was ever really a quarterback competition bro they was just selling it to us you know as fans excuse me considering the fact that you know he's made all this money they have to find some way to get some some productivity out of him you can't just sit him or send him home you still owe him all this money like you say if he is somewhat healthy and he's saying he can go, you at least got to put him out there for a few games, bro. See how he fell. You know what I mean?
46:27Shannon Sharpe:But my thing is – Go ahead, Joe. Finish your thought. Go ahead.
46:30Chad Johnson:I ain't mad at the decision that they made Deshaun a starter. I just think it's going to be hard for him to obviously finish the season. This is just a start because I think it's going to get ugly. And then I think that's when Shadour is going to get his shot. But if I'm Deshaun, bro, at least I got an opportunity. You know what I mean? It's going to be a tough one. Like you say, Ocho, he probably will press. But at the same time, he gets an opportunity. He just got to go out there and show up and show out.
47:02Joe Johnson:If I were Deshaun, Uncle Joe, I have one more before the season starts. I have a dinner with my other 10 starters. I want my offensive line. I want my receivers and I want my running backs. And I want to sit down and explain to him how imperative it is that I need y 'all. I need every last one of you. I'm serious. I don't know if he can cry on cue like I can, but I will share some tears, Uncle Joe. Just to tell you, I cannot get this done. I need y 'all to be a –
47:38Shannon Sharpe:And Adam Schefter having – and having Schefter be reporting on it that night. Somebody going to say something. Of course. Yeah. I would have to. You damn know. But I need somebody to help me understand. If I need to see what I got for this, for the 240, 230, knowing the greatest contract that's ever receiving, that's ever been given out by an NFL team, they gave it to Deshaun Watson. Why not playing for the whole year, Ocho and Joe? Regardless of how you look. You're going to have to pay him because you're starting him because you say you want to see what you got and you got to pay him anyway.
48:18Shannon Sharpe:So you might as well just go ahead and play him for the year, tank for the rest of the season, try to get the number one overall pick and decide whether you take a quarterback or Jeremiah Smith.
48:26Chad Johnson:Damn, you don't think they – I mean, they got to at least get Shadu a shot, huh? Why?
48:32Shannon Sharpe:What do you mean? You going to play Deshaun Watson$46 million to sit on the bench? Yeah, man, they going to have to eat that, bro. They could have ate it in the beginning. Thank you.
48:41Joe Johnson:Now you make my point. They could have ate it to start the season. I understand. but I don't think that's going to happen. It's not going to happen. They're going to give him his opportunity. They're going to give him a chance. And they're going with two. And I tell you, it's going to happen before week three, before the season gets out of control and gets out of hand.
48:58Chad Johnson:You can't see them winning them first two games, King.
49:01Joe Johnson:I hope they go one and one. I know they start with Jacksonville, and they got Tampa Bay the next week. And both of them is tough games. Both of them tough games. But listen, Deshaun, I know you might see this, but I'm taking all my offensive starters to dinner and sitting them down and explaining to them how much you need them because you as a quarterback, you're only going to be as good as your supporting cast.
49:28Shannon Sharpe:Well, I'm just trying to figure out why all of a sudden dead cap spaces mean something to an NFL team.
49:33Joe Johnson:Yeah.
49:34Shannon Sharpe:We see the Dolphins. We see teams 180 million, 150, 195. 95, now all of a sudden, Joe, dead cap space means something to a team. Since when? When you don't want a guy, first of all, this is what they do when they realize a player is not in their future. Why did they let Russell Wilson do what he did? Why did they let Aaron Rodgers do what he did? Because he's not in our future moving forward. If Deshaun Watson is not in your future moving forward, why is he still here?
50:07Shannon Sharpe:Because guess what? But you can pay him$46 million and still lose, or you can pay him$46 million and he be home. I don't see the benefits of it. You're not going to playoffs, and you're not winning a Super Bowl. You're never going to recoup. You cannot recoup$230 million because he can't play well enough. He needed to throw for 7 ,000 yards, 69 touchdowns, go and throw for 3 ,000 yards in the postseason and win the Super Bowl. How many yards you need to throw for? Man said 7 ,000. 7 ,069 touchdowns. Joe, Ocho, help me understand. How do you recruit$230 million on a guy that's only giving you 19 games?
50:55Shannon Sharpe:On your team.
50:57Chad Johnson:You can't, you can't. That's tough. You can't. You can't. You gotta hope. he's going to have to play over his head as far as what we've seen throughout this preseason in the past three, four, five years. Okay, Ojo, he's going to have to show us something. We're going to be like, oh my God. And I just don't see that.
51:19Shannon Sharpe:The best version we've ever seen of Deshaun Watson. He needs to be better than that. Seven years removed from when we last saw it. I'm with you when you're right. Ooh. That's all I'm saying. Look, Deshaun Watson was a hell of a football player. He's from Gainesville. So I know I followed his career from high school. Obviously, we saw him in college on the big stage. Could have easily been 2-0 in national championship games against Coach Saban.
51:49Chad Johnson:Yeah.
51:50Shannon Sharpe:Both games come down to basically the final play of the game. But I just, if he's not in my play, it's like a relationship. At some point in time, no matter how much I've invested in her, I come to the realization, I'm never going to get a return on my investment and you just chalk it up to a bad investment you made a bad investment everything ain't going to be Google everything is not going to be NVIDIA it's not going to be SpaceX or Tesla sometimes you're going to get these ones that you put$50 ,000, you put$100 ,000 in and they go barely up in a year a year?
