This Nightcap Hour 2 episode mixes NFL game analysis, sports media commentary, and boxing talk. Topic highlights: (1) Jaguars’ Jacoby Meyers contract extension and offensive impact; (2) Cam Newton’s claims about a pay gap for Black quarterbacks in media; (3) Jake Paul’s pre-fight remarks toward Anthony Joshua and debate over Paul’s legitimacy; (4) Seahawks’ Ernest Jones IV joining to discuss a comeback win and playoff outlook.

Guests and backgrounds

Ernest Jones IV is a Seattle Seahawks defensive player (13 tackles, 5 interceptions mentioned earlier in the show context). Cam Newton is a former NFL quarterback turned media personality, discussing broadcast compensation. Jake Paul is a professional boxer/celebrity fighter preparing for Anthony Joshua.

Key claims and notable examples

Jaguars extended Meyers for $60M through 2028 with $40M guaranteed; Jacksonville is 5-1 since his arrival, averaging nearly 32 points, with Trevor Lawrence’s TD/INT improvement. Cam argues Brady and Romo TV deals show unequal pay dynamics for Black QBs. Jake Paul is criticized for lacking “ring IQ” and facing a world champion; Joshua’s heavyweight power is emphasized. Jones credits a punt return spark, defensive communication improvements, and “death zone” focus in a comeback from 16 down; Seattle aims for the NFC No. 1 seed.

2:40Shannon Sharpe:After the game, Sean McVay said he isn't one making excuses but doesn't understand how the Seahawks were awarded a two-point conversion on a backwards pass when the play had already been ruled incomplete. Both teams were preparing for the ensuing kickoff. He wants clarity on it. I've never seen anything like that. I grew up around the game. Well, you're right.

3:04So, you know, it is kind of fishy when you think about it, no? Because the play, I mean, the whistle was blowing and it was called. It ruled incomplete. That's tough.

3:15Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, that's tough. But here's the thing, Ocho. I thought only plays that were viewable was a turnover or scoring play. Right. I guess they deemed it because they ruled it incomplete.

3:33Shannon Sharpe:To my knowledge, McDonald's didn't challenge it. So, look, they got that thing in, what, a Secaucus or whatever it is, a Mount Laurel, wherever they are, they called down. That came from headquarters. Yeah. Mount Laurel. Mount Laurel. Yeah. That came from it. Because, like I said, it didn't.

3:56Shannon Sharpe:it didn't it don't it doesn't make sense to me now that like i said i just want to hear he said uh the pass on the back on the backwards pass when the play had already been ruled incomplete both teams were preparing for the ensuing kickoff he just wants clarity on it i've never seen anything like that i grew up around the game i agree sean i agree i agree i haven't if you rule it incomplete and at worst case scenario you can't water You can't warm the two-point play. Right. Because at that point, once you rule incomplete, I stop. So that explains why they stopped. Yeah. And see, it's situations like this where so many people think the NFL is R-I-G-G-E-D.

4:44You're right. Stuff like this. being down 16 and miraculously being able to come back in the fourth quarter when you ain't been able to do it for the last three. You're right. But hey.

5:01Hey. Five offensive possessions back to back to back to back and the Rams been able to move the ball up and down the field but all of a sudden these five possessions you can't do nothing with the ball. And the one time you do punt it, Rashad Rashid Shahid takes it back for a touchdown now they're back you get the ball back and then you have another and they go right man don't

5:24Shannon Sharpe:get me started I thought that they kind of did get a little conservative because when that guy got that when the guy got the interception the defensive lineman got that pick they kind of ran the ball like twice into the line no bro I'm going for the juggler now right but plus also punter you know this man is a dangerous guy at returning the ball you You can't put the ball down the middle of the field. You got to put him under hashes. It's got to be outside the hashes. One way or another, you got to condense the field. Yeah, or kick it out of bounds. You can do that also. Kick it as far as you can and aim.

5:58I'm not sure if he had that kind of quality or that kind of leg to be able to direct those kicks out of bounds. You know, back far, pinning them back as far as he can. But, hey, that's what happened. You kicked the Speakers. You don't want to kick the Devin Hester. you don't want to kick the Dante Hall you just don't because there's a good chance especially with the way the rules are now man

6:24Shannon Sharpe:house call because if you don't make it you let him get down the field so now no you can't do that I mean I can't believe they still punt the ball down the middle of the field especially when you backed up Ocho now if you Even if you had the 50 because you want to try to angle it because you want to get it out of the bounds, you want to pin them back. The more you put it down the middle of the field, there's a greater chance the ball is going to go in the end zone. So you kind of want to punch the ball at an angle even when you fit the yard line. But definitely don't put it down the middle of the field when you backed up.

7:01No, absolutely not.

7:01Shannon Sharpe:And you best run and give that guy a running start. And that's the wrong mojo to give a running start too. Yeah. The wrong one. These guys are too good now. So, I agree with you, Sean McVay. You just need some clarity. Now what? Now, they're going to come back and say, well, they shouldn't have awarded them two-point. It's too late now. It's too late then. Shoot, listen, this game, they were supposed to have a bye week if that's the case. Yep. You're absolutely right, Ocho. The Jaguars receiver, Jacoby Myers, agreed to a contract extension, Ocho, worth$60 million and tied him to the Jags through the 2028 season.

7:43Shannon Sharpe:The deal includes$40 million in guaranteed money. The Jags sent the 2026 fourth and sixth round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for Myers at the November 4th trade deadline. Myers has 27 catches, 355 yards, three touchdowns in six games with the Jags and was scheduled to become a free agent after the season. Myers' addition has been a huge boost for the Jags offense and quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Since he arrived, they're 5-1, averaging almost 32 points a game, second in the NFL, only behind the Rams at 34. And Lawrence has thrown 14 touchdown passes and only five interceptions, three of which came in one game.

8:22This is what I'm talking about. You go from a situation in Las Vegas, it wasn't conducive to you. It's not conducive for winning. Oh, that too. you go to Jacksonville boom ever since you get there they're 5-1 for some reason now the offense they putting up points Trevor Lawrence looking like goddamn Aaron Rodgers in his prime he's looking like Trevor Lawrence supposed to look hey like the number one pick and you know

8:54Shannon Sharpe:Brian Thomas Jr. is kind of like you know it's like he hadn't played like he played last year Jacoby Myers is still right in. Trevor Lawrence does not have a problem throwing. They still run the football with ATN. ATN, yeah. But I like this pickup for him, for the Jags, getting Jacoby Myers. Hold up. He was with the Patriots. He was a quarterback at one point in time. Wasn't he a quarterback coming out of NC State? I think he transitioned to wide receiver, Ocho. yeah he too little to play quarterback huh are you sure

9:45Shannon Sharpe:it is yeah he was a quarterback but he was a quarterback right

9:52Shannon Sharpe:he never played quarterback oh okay i thought he played quarterback and then moved to wide receiver okay that's dope congratulations congratulations get that bread leave a state with no income tax go to another state with no income tax and get that money Annie hold on that ain't it Annie went to one of the better cities in Florida what we talking about Duval but it's like nothing popping off in Duval I mean there's something popping off but it ain't nothing popping off like that okay I mean it's not Miami But Duval, nice, man. You got to get out of there, man. I'm good. Okay, all right. Maybe Tampa, St.

10:40Pete. They got some good fishing down there, too, man.

15:35I'm getting something in return.

15:36Shannon Sharpe:I'm getting something in return. Mm-hmm.

15:42Okay. When you practice,

15:43Shannon Sharpe:you want to see the results of your work. All right. I'm intentionally fumbling the football. I ain't trying to score. 19:30Shannon Sharpe:Cam Newton has implied that there's a pay gap in the media for black quarterbacks. The conversation stems from conversation with Jamel Hill on his Funky Friday podcast. Can we keep it funky? I don't get no Brady deal. I don't get no Romo deal. That's just the facts. Am I bitter? Hell no. Because knowing what I know now, being a member of the media, I know Brady worked his ass off, and he has to work his ass off to get prepared for that show that he presents to the world. So does Romo, and he's commenting. I can appreciate that. I can see why he makes that type of money. That's what he does make now.

20:13Shannon Sharpe:I've never wanted to call games. No, I don't want to call games. I want to talk about before it happens or after it happens. I don't want to put that kind of time in to talk about why it's happening. It's not as easy as you think. But I will say this. If you look at people's pockets, it'll make you upset. It will. Brady had no TV experience. He gets$37 million. Everybody in the media that calls games should applaud Tony Romo because nobody's making this kind of money until Tony Romo got that deal. Troy Aikman got his deal because of Romo. Brady got his deal because of Romo. He's like, hold on.

20:56Shannon Sharpe:They just gave a guy that didn't have any credentials. so you got to double what you gave Romo. Romo's making 18, 19, 17, 18, 19 me, whatever the case you got. Troy, Troy's like, hold on. Look at all this credential. I've been doing this. A guy doing this three years, and he's getting this? So everybody should applaud Tony Romo.

21:20Shannon Sharpe:I've never wanted to call games. I'm good. Right. I'm good. I was good, and I appreciate the opportunity that I had wherever I was. But where else am I going to make that kind of money and retire? That I don't have to use my retirement, Ocho. I get to live like I ain't even touching. Y 'all don't have to touch your retirement. Right. Hey. Now that I think about it, you know, I think if Cam wanted to call games, he could. He could put himself in position to be able to do that. It's very, very difficult, obviously, to be able to call games and be a colored commentator. But it's something that he can do.

22:00It's something that he can do because he knows the game. He knows the game. Hell, I really think I could do color commentating too. I just have to work on my goddamn cursing. Can you imagine me on NBC or CBS? Cursing? No.

22:13Shannon Sharpe:Calling the goddamn game? Because the thing is, you curse so much now, it's going to be second nature. You're not going to be able to contain it. Hey, I'd be like, oh, shit, what a cat. Oh, my bad.

22:27Hey, I couldn't. But you know what also? Now, you know what I am good at? Now, on here, I could be myself. Yeah, for sure. On here, I could be myself. You know, and you've seen me in other rooms, in certain atmospheres, completely different person. I know how to hit that switch. So I probably could be able to do it. And I understand, you know, I'm very sharp in those areas, especially when that camera's rolling. And being able to change the way I talk, the way that I pronounce my words, I can hit that switch. it so i probably would be able to do it but it would take it would take me maybe a year or two before i'd have to i'd have to perfect it because that's something if i go into something like that i want to nail it i don't want no mistakes yeah it's uh but i mean it was shocking to me

23:13Shannon Sharpe:because it looked like brady had really never shown any interest in doing media but when they come up with that kind of money somebody offered you 10 years that 400 million how do you say no even if you're not interested how do you say no to that kind of money Ocho that's more money than you played in the 20 plus years that you were a quarterback in the NFL and somebody's going to give you that and you only have to think about it Ocho you only work 20 weeks a year okay you do a couple of spots here and there maybe you go on Fox or you go on I don't know they I think they got some show at night to come on and I don't know if he goes on that Maybe he does a special assignment here or there.

23:50Shannon Sharpe:But you're not turning that kind of money down. Even Tom Brady with all the money that he's made and all the endorsements that he has, he's not turning that level of money down. $400 million? Tony Romo. Tony Romo started it. I think they gave Tony Romo$4 million. Tony Romo was great at it. People say, nah, he's not that good. See, he's melding in. I don't know. I couldn't tell you one thing Tony Romo has ever said on TV because I don't listen to it. I don't know how good people say Brady's not that good. I don't know. Yeah. I like Tony. Tony, because he knows the game so well, he would call a goddamn play out before the play even happened.

24:27And he's damn near right 98 % of the time.

24:30Shannon Sharpe:So I don't know. But I know that's a hard job. I know it's something that I've never wanted to do. I like what I do. I like what I did. The best thing for me, Undisputed, was the perfect format for me. Because it gave me an opportunity to show my personality and also show my knowledge on advanced topics. because for the longest time, football players, they only knew football. They weren't allowed to talk about when basketball segments came up, the football player had to leave that segment. So now it was me. I had to like, man, look here. This is for a lot of people going to come after me and let me show them if you work at this, you can be really good.

25:09Shannon Sharpe:And so I'm watching. I'm listening to the guys that come on and they're talking. And so when I hear LeBron say, you know, the nail, and I see the dunker spark, and I see a flare, and I see a pin down, and I see, I was like, okay, what does that mean? So now I'll go to YouTube and see what that means. I'm going to see if I can see what he's talking about. Oh, so that's what he's talking about. Oh. Oh, he go under. He hedged. They trapped it. I'm like, damn, okay. Football was easy. Track was easy. I played football. Track has always been my favorite sport. Okay, I'm talking to my brother, man. We're going to be talking about this.

25:48Shannon Sharpe:What did Tiger hit? What should he have hit? Pitching wedge. He put a rescue medal. Irons. So, you know, you just got to put the time in and to be good. But at the same time, you got to let your person. Undisputed gave me an opportunity to show my personality. People are like, man, this dude funny for real. and he Stephen A gave me the opportunity to be on ESPN a lot of the antics I didn't really feel comfortable taking it to ESPN like wearing the horse head and bringing the other stuff Disney was different than Fox and you have to understand the room that you're in Ocho people are like no bro that's Disney that's Mickey Mouse and Minnie different ball game So it is.

26:40Shannon Sharpe:It is. And so, but I mean, Cam, if you want to do that, see, I think, but you got to realize that it's not often because normally you start out at the lower level. Troy started out at the two and then worked his way up to one. Tony and Brady started out at the one slot, which is rare because normally you have to work your way up. but hey it is what it is I don't really look at it it's not something that I care to do so I don't really look at it I don't care how much money somebody makes that ain't my thing well shoot I think I'm finna go ahead and put my name in the hat man you know how many receivers call plays outside of Chris Collinsworth ooh mm-mm I mean, Greg Olsen is a tight end.

27:36Shannon Sharpe:He calls. A lot of them are deep. You know, Jonathan Vilma, Adam Archuleta, Mark Slareff. Yeah. James Lofton used to call.

27:49Shannon Sharpe:I'm just trying to go off the top of my head, Ocho. I don't really. Yeah, see, hey, listen. But most of the time it's a quarterback because they study the most film. They know, you know, formations and things. But Greg Olson, I mean, from what people tell me, Greg Olson is great. Hey, Greg is nice, boy. Greg is nice. Greg Olson, to me, would basically be like, in comparison to NFL quarterbacks, Greg Olson, with color commentating, would be like Drew Brees. He'd be Drew Brees. That's how good he is. Now, I want to put my name in the hat. so Fox, CBS ESPN Netflix Amazon they normally make you do a go and they show you old film so you're actually watching the game and with no sound there you go, they set you up I'm ready one thing you know about me Now, I know I play around a lot, but when it comes to the game of football now and I got I got I got them specs in front of me, I'm good to go.

29:02My only problem is when I get excited, I start talking too goddamn fast. I talk too fast. I have to learn to slow myself down because when I start talking fast, then I start stumbling over my words. I always do that because I get excited. I don't know why. That's a problem I've always had. But I don't know. I think I think it would be fun. It would be fun for people to see another side of me that I know I have that I just don't show because it just doesn't fit in this space we're in right now.

29:30Shannon Sharpe:Jake Paul has fired up some threatening words in the direction of Anthony Joshua ahead of their fight later this week. They took the stage for their pre-fight. 33:05Shannon Sharpe:Weigh-ins and Paul was pleased with his weight of 216, was announced to the press. After telling the crowd he was dialed in, he yelled for Joshua. You listen to me, brother. When the bell rings, I'm coming in there, and I'm coming on his, you know what? Joshua weighed 243.3, which is a pound and a half under the 245 limit.

33:33What'd you think? What'd you think about this one, huh?

33:39Shannon Sharpe:We're going to see. I'm going to watch. And we're going to come on. We're coming on after the fight or the college football game, whichever happens late, last. Whichever, okay. I like that. I like that. I think Jake got to be careful. I understand he's been training. He's been taking it very serious. But you're fighting a world champion. Not only are you fighting a world champion. No matter how much training Jake Paul has done, he doesn't have the ring experience. he doesn't have the ring experience that Anthony Joshua has he doesn't have the ring IQ that takes time and years and years and years of mastering that Anthony Joshua has I just I just hope he played the safe you're not going to go in there and just start swinging that's not that's not boxing you're not going to do that but you got to be cautious you got it I don't care how much sparring you've done heavyweights like that them punches is a lot different for sure and punches is a lot different and you won't understand it until you feel it hit your glove.

34:42You won't understand it until you feel it hit your glove and you understand you in a heavyweight fight. That's what I tell people.

34:47Shannon Sharpe:You don't understand speed until you go to a professional, until you go to a track meet. And then you have an appreciation like okay, that's speed. That's fast. Yeah. There's football speed and then there's track speed. And it's different oh so look i don't look i i don't begrudge anybody look if anthony joshua they're gonna go in there and i don't know you'll make five ten fifteen twenty million dollars if you can get that fighting somebody of that caliber hey i take my hat off to you yeah i mean listen hey um i think for anthony joshua i wouldn't call it a tune-up fight but that this is to keep yourself active to make a good chunk of change while doing it against someone who has taken the sport very seriously even though people want to make fun of him um he showed nothing but nothing but class and grace in in in taking the game of boxing seriously uh and and i've enjoyed i've enjoyed how good jake paul has gotten you know he's gotten better since he fought uh nate robinson his first fight he's gotten better and better i'll give him back way better yeah he has but this is the cream of the crop.

36:01This is a tall task. I agree. This is a tall task. And the last fighter, the last fighter that he fought, that was an actual boxer, that was decent was Tommy Fury.

36:12Shannon Sharpe:Tommy Fury ain't no Jake Anthony Joshua. Come on now. That's what I'm saying. Anthony Joshua was a former world champion. Now, it's a little suspect. He runs out of gas because that's a lot of muscle. I mean, you see how he built? You see when he was standing up on the scale at 243? Yeah. Like he carved out of granite. It takes oxygen to fuel muscle. Yes.

36:43Damn. I'm excited for him, man. I'm excited. Everybody got a punch a chance. Yeah, for sure. Everybody got a punch a chance.

36:54Shannon Sharpe:But, I mean, considering that he's substantially taller, he don't really have to. I can just stand on the outside and jab Jab and then try to land that right Cause that's where Joshua Power is Is his right He got power in him He saw what he did to Klitschko That power at that level is different Oh yeah

37:21Shannon Sharpe:Oh man That's I mean Hell no And don't let Anthony Joshua sit on that right. I'm talking about sit on it? Oh, man. Yeah. But if you look at Ocho, punching power different between UFC fighters got punches. But a UFC fighter at the same weight as a boxer, it ain't even close. No. Because they know how to throw punches. And they know how to throw punches where you don't see them. See them, yeah. and they can counter everything they know what you throw they throw like they know what you're gonna try to throw back pop they check hook everything they know exactly what's coming know exactly what's coming uh i'm anxious to see you know hey everybody thank you well if it's a if it's a real fight well look i don't know real fight whatever the fight is they're gonna make some money and we'll see what happens.

38:28Shannon Sharpe:We'll see what happens. And this is not a knock on Jake Paul. Until it's a fight that's sanctioned by the WBC, the IBF, Ring Magazine or something, people are not going to believe it's on the up and up. Yeah, you're right. I mean, I can't say you good at football if you're not playing in the NFL. I like it. It is what it is. It makes sense. I commend him over the last five years, six years, however long it's been, putting the time in and the gym. And he's gotten better. Taking it serious. He's gotten better. Taking it serious. No matter what you think about him, he has gotten better at his skill set.

39:12But until he fight meaningful Benavidez or he fight, he not being can. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. He not being can. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't do that. don't do that. Don't get a man killed now.

39:25Shannon Sharpe:I'm just saying. Until he fights somebody legitimate that legitimately still that's in their prime like he is. We got one coming tonight. I mean tomorrow night. You mean Saturday? Is the fight Saturday? It's tomorrow. Yeah, tomorrow. I should go to the fight. Nah, hell nah. I got to be ready for nightcap now, man. So, that's it, Ocho. I mean, is Joshua retired? I mean, do we call him a retired fighter or is he still active? When's the last time Anthony Joshua fought?

40:26oh he got knocked out didn't he yeah yep um daniel dubois who was he fighting he got yeah dubois yep showed it um i guess uh uh what uh what's the guy name the bra the bronze bomber

40:43Shannon Sharpe:Deontay Wilder want to fight Jake Paul right yeah no I thought Deontay I thought somebody just called out Deontay Wilder oh Usyk Alexander Usyk just called out Deontay Wilder no he ain't been the same since he lost to Fury Tyson Fury yeah he accused the fight of being scripted and so I guess Jake Paul was talking about he's sending a cease and desist and then he's gonna sue him for defamation. Sue who? Deontay Wilder. Oh. Because Deontay Wilder allegedly said he's scripted.

41:33Damn.

41:36Shannon Sharpe:And then Tyson Fury said something that he wanna fight Anthony Joshua would say he gonna beat it so you don't get no points for fighting the youtuber

41:49Shannon Sharpe:so look everybody trying to everybody trying to get in that payday wait listen i'm not worried about no payday i'm still i just i just want i just want to fight because i'm trying to figure out a chat do me a favor chat y 'all ask andre ward why he keep ducking me i've been asking for i've been asking for the smoke for for for a minute now i saw him in person in vegas and Vegas. I told him to his face. Man, let's do this. Man, let's line it up. Let's lace it up. Let's line it up. What you want to do? Oakland? You know, Bay Area versus Dade County. How you want to play it? And here we go again.

42:26It's been two, three years now. I've been asking for this fight. It's like he ducking me. You got the accolades. You got the resume. Hall of Famer. Well, you got to show me. you gotta show me with these what we talking about

42:42Shannon Sharpe:but I think Ocho honestly I think until Jake Paul actually fights somebody his age I don't care who it is I don't care but it's gotta be light heavyweight somebody in that category maybe even I don't know if they still have a cruiserweight division heavyweight I don't think people are going to take him serious yeah alright speaking of fights too now you got Majusas flowing now speaking of fights one of the greatest fights that's going to happen that's going to happen if I'm not mistaken I think it's January 31st I could be wrong on the date chat correct me if I'm wrong god damn Shakur Stevenson and Tia Fumo Lopez oh my god boy now that's going to be nice you talking about a chess match of skill and speed and oh my boy I can't wait Chad is the fight T.O.

43:46and Shakur January 31st or am I wrong

43:51Shannon Sharpe:don't start me to lie alright yeah okay it's time for our final segment of the evening it's time for Q and A now you got me excited talking boxing Tonight it's time to go. Okay, we on tomorrow. I'm going to save it for tomorrow anyway.

44:15Shannon Sharpe:Anissa Rob Beauty. I don't know ish about football, but unk finally done a mofo with that beard. Lord, have mercy. You should have let that thing grow. You should have been let that thing grow out. Hey, unk, who that is? Who that is? That's Cookie. Man, stop. Oh, my bad.

44:36Shannon Sharpe:no comment humble legend oh I'm still crying about that Haitian rapping out holes around I'm sorry okay anyway that was funny bro bad even Joe man Joe would cry man Joe need to stop hey that was funny that was funny ah Valtos FJ y 'all know the fight is scripted come on now especially if Buddy wins y 'all know who I'm talking about bro I don't know nothing it's too easy for these defamation lawsuits and I ain't paying no more so I don't know I don't know and funny we've watched enough boxing chat we've watched enough boxing obviously when you see two prize fighters get into a ring you can tell when it's scripted and when it's not you can tell when one fighter is laying off he's not pressing we've watched Anthony Joshua fight many times we understand how he approaches his fights when he's in the ring so you'll be able to tell if it's scripted or not whether he steps on the gas whether he purposely doesn't throw you'll be able to tell He sits on everything.

45:56Shannon Sharpe:He always trying to get you out of there. Hey, trick. Quick. True infamous. Woo, Seahawks, baby. First in the NFC. We flying hot. Y 'all first in the NFC, bro. What's their schedule? What do they got the rest of the way? I think they got the 49ers. I think they got 49ers and the Bears.

46:22Shannon Sharpe:I think they got the Bears. Not Panthers and Niners. Okay. And where are they playing the Panthers?

46:32Okay.

46:34Shannon Sharpe:Justin underscore Antonio one. Oh, I just got done watching the show from last night. And I'm in my sim. Tripping. What in the world did you have in that LaPortier man? Man. man.

46:48Hey,

46:48Shannon Sharpe:boy, that was funny, boy. Oh, Ocho had 12 total tackles tonight. Five interceptions. He said he's going to get five interceptions this year. Here he is. Ernest, almost had six. Ernest Jones, the fourth. Ernest, how you doing, man? Hey, man, congratulations on the big win. You're down 14 points, 30 to 16. And Ocho and I was talking at the top of the show. I thought that punt return really gave you guys, of spark. It sparked because you guys were kind of just going through the motion. They were kind of moving up and down the field. And when that punt return happened, I think it's 65, 70 yards, he got that ball into the end zone.

47:23Shannon Sharpe:It's just like something clicked in y 'all. What was the turning point and how did you guys get back in this game? Like you said, she's electric, man. Once he took that return back, we were like, okay, we still in this thing. But ultimately, I think defensively, we miscommunicated early on, led to some big plays. So we just had to lock in and we told ourselves like, man, these boys think it's sweet right now. Let's just turn it up on us. Coach O? I'm going to say, you know, being down 16, what is coach telling you guys on the side to make sure you keep your composure and you don't lose your head most of the time when you're down 16, you know, players be arguing.

48:04When you have missed assignments, when you blow coverages, you know, you start arguing with your teammates and stuff. How was y 'all able to keep your composure so you were able to make that comeback in this game. I think, you know, the whole time in the headset, Mike was telling me, like, keep them together. Like, we're going to come back. It's not going our way right now, but something's going to change. And I think for us, we just kept believing in that. And honestly, all, like, we speak about the death zone, and the death zone for us is, like, everything matters. So we lived in it, and we were in our moments.

48:35We just had to come out and get some stops.

48:37Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, you got stops. Matthew Stafford had himself a night, 29-49, 457, three touchdowns. They had 124 yards rushing. Normally, when a team has almost 600 yards, Ernest, and you have three turnovers, you normally lose that game. What does that say about your team, that you were able to turn the ball over three times? A guy had almost 500 yards passing. You had almost 600 yards of total offense, and you still found a way to win this game. Mm-hmm. I mean, we're going to battle each and every time. Like, don't think it's over just because you up. It's got to be fourth quarter, zero, zero on that clock for us to give up.

49:13And I think that's how we – it just shows the work we put in this offseason to get to this point.

49:21Shannon Sharpe:Your season, we talked earlier this year, you said, man, I want five interceptions. I got to get five. You know, I've been close, but now I'm going to do this. What went into – because now, I mean, 13 times, you played an unbelievable game tonight all over the field, and you almost had the interception. You really wanted that interception. Because that was going to be the most special interception that you had this year. A hundred percent. Oh, I was, oh, I wanted it bad, man. The way I would have turned up after that is crazy. But we were able to get the win ultimately and that's all that matters.

49:52So we just got to keep battling, man, and keep being us.

49:55Shannon Sharpe:You told a sideline reporter, say, man, they thought this was over. They thought this thing was sweet. They talking real spicy. But now look at them. Spicy. Oh, they were talking, EJ, they were out there talking crazy? They get spicy, crazy. And I played over there. A lot of them guys, they never talk. So it was crazy to me. But, yeah, they thought it was sweet. You went up 16 points. You thought it was good. Good in the hood. But we still around. Man, you got to tell me, bro. Y 'all, look, why didn't y 'all continue to double Puka? Man, you know you can't let Puka. Because Puka, he's one of the few receivers that can play through contact.

50:31Shannon Sharpe:He can high point the ball. He's tremendous. He's really. he's a running back once he gets the ball in his hand. You look at him the way he's stiff-arming guys, the way he's bouncing off guys. You guys were doing a great job on him. You was doubling me, and then all of a sudden you're like, okay, you guys went away from it. Man, I think it just came to a couple of their other guys they had started making plays. 15 started making some really big pitches. 19 opened it up with some deep passes. So I think we had to just shift our mindset and, you know, notice that they weren't just force-feeding Puka the ball unless they had to.

51:03So I think that's where we just switched it up on him at.

51:06Shannon Sharpe:Now you're the number one seed in the NFC. You go at Carolina. You got at San Francisco. You get 10 days off. The road to Super Bowl 60 can lead through Seattle. What do you guys need to do to make sure you close this thing out the right way and the road to the Super Bowl 60 leads through Seattle? I think the biggest thing for our group is don't get relaxed just because you clinch this playoff spot. That's where teams start going downhill. All year we've been focused on next team, next man up. And right now it's the Panthers. With the playoffs clinched, we want the number one seed and we're going to go get that.

51:48Shannon Sharpe:Man, Ernest, thanks for joining us tonight. Congratulations on a big time win. Ernest Jones, the fourth, he had 13 tackles tonight. Six solo. Unbelievable game. They were down 16 points, and they come all the way back, and you go for it or two. Let me ask you this. When coaches lined up, he's like, no, y 'all stay out there. We ain't kicking no PAT because if we kick this PAT, they're going to get the ball. They go down, they score. Uh-uh. We're going to win it or lose it right now. What were you thinking when Coach said, we going for the win? Honestly, I knew we were winning. You got to be – when you're playing this game, you got to be humble.

52:23And I think they shot their gun a little early. and you let us stick around. So I knew we had a chance.

52:31Shannon Sharpe:All right, Ernest, man. Appreciate it, man. Congratulations. Big time win. Seattle Seahawks win. Take over the road. The Super Bowl could possibly lead through Seattle. They got two games, both on the road. They're at Carolina, at San Francisco, which is a division game, which is going to have a great, of great, great importance. That's Ernest Jones, the fourth man. Congratulations on the big time win. Stay healthy, and we'll see you down the road. Definitely. Thank y 'all. All right. Ocho, slick underscore ass underscore butters. The fans can need to take notes. You see he didn't take his quarterback.

53:05Shannon Sharpe:That was hot and run no bull-ish. I'm a Browns fan. Really don't want to see that SS no more. So that's what I'm trying to figure out. In a situation like that, Ocho, hey, the most important. So you tell me who in their right mind, in the most important situation of the game, you want to put the ball in a running back's hand, have him flip it to somebody, and have them throw a pass, not the quarterback that just led you down. Right. But you want to – what would happen? What do you think the people would have thought if they said, you know what, we're going to take Sam Darn a lot. We want Charbonneau.

53:42Shannon Sharpe:Or we want Kenneth Walker to the fourth. Or we want somebody else to throw this ball. We want JSN to throw the ball. What you think Seattle fans would have said? Man, the whole stadium would have been booing up. The whole stadium would have – because you understand what it is. you understand what it is. I mean, that game we talking about, I don't really want to get into it no more. But, I mean, you already know it was some bull jive. Tony SG said, who we got this week, guys? Pats versus Ravens. Chargers versus Cowboys. Packers versus Bears. Ooh, them some good games. Great games. What? Great. Really good games.

54:17Shannon Sharpe:I got the Chargers versus the Cowboys.

54:22Shannon Sharpe:I got the Cowboys. Pats versus the Ravens. I got to go with the Ravens, man.

54:30I'm probably, I'm going to go with the Marvelous. Packers versus the Bears. I'm going Bears. I'm going with the Bears. I'm going Bears. I'm going Bears.

54:43Shannon Sharpe:Patrick Rendon, Ocho, don't want to claim the Patriots the same as Will Smith. Dad didn't want to claim him in the Fresh Prince. How come you don't want me, man? Yo, Ocho, why you don't claim the pass? I do. I mean, listen, man, listen, I was there, but I wasn't able to contribute the way I would have liked to. So, you know, I'm sitting here. There ain't no participation trophies. Ocho, but you played there. I mean, I was there. You tried to say, you tried to say to me, I ain't want no Raven. I mean. I can't wait to get my Letterman jacket. You getting what, a Ravens one? Well, I'm going to make me a bangle one then.

55:21Shannon Sharpe:No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. We're going to make a letter from Jack and Ford. Mine got Super Bowl 35 and logo on the back. I can put Super Bowl 35 on mine too. You ain't playing the Biggers. First of all, Biggers ain't won no Super. They ain't got nothing. Stop it. Y 'all played in three, Ocho. Two. Three. 88 and 21. You played in 81 too. You lost. Ken Anderson lost to the 49ers in Detroit. The old Silverdome. Okay. Well, I know. I know you did that's why I'm here for to help you appreciate that history lesson Nick Mars hey Unk show idea make Ocho do all the things he say he can do like bench 405 man Ocho can't bench no 405 who can't you man I be at the gym in the morning and I'm gonna post it

56:21Shannon Sharpe:Ocho, you can't even squat 405. I know you can't bench 405. I squat 765, when I was playing, I squat like Saquon. I used to work out with the defensive linemen. Kumar, that darn curse wheel took another team. I wonder who's next on the Perna curse wheel. Broncos, Seahawks, Bills, Pat. I don't know what wheel. I'm sorry, bro. I'm not sure what you're talking about, Kumar. Day of the Dundee 74. What's up guys? Top six tight ends. Ocho top six receivers. Much love to you and Nightcap.

57:09Shannon Sharpe:Kelsey Gronk

57:14Shannon Sharpe:Gonzo Gates me Winslow Sr

57:31Shannon Sharpe:top six receivers

57:37Shannon Sharpe:I hope he's talking about all time I hope he's not talking about right now yeah I mean all time Jerry, T.O. Randy

58:33Shannon Sharpe:great greats double b studio josh allen mvp look at the stats josh allen has had an unbelievable season. Matthew Stafford's the MVP this season though.

58:50Shannon Sharpe:Matthew Stafford's the MVP. How many yards is he now? Now he's leading the league. Well, I think Dak's going to get some opportunities to pass him on Sunday. Yeah. But Matthew Stafford has, what, he got two games left now? The 11 and 4? Yeah. I don't know if he can get to I don't know if he can get to 5 ,000. But he can be high fours. How many Matthew Stafford got now?

59:20Shannon Sharpe:Yeah, 457.

59:27Shannon Sharpe:4 ,300.

59:36Shannon Sharpe:Because I think he was number two behind Dak.

59:56Shannon Sharpe:41-79.

1:00:01Wow.

1:00:03Shannon Sharpe:So he's in the lead over Dak. But Dak got to play Sunday. So. Yeah, I think Matthew Stafford is going to win the MVP.

1:00:17Shannon Sharpe:Brian BB game and Sam Donald is slinging shaft for sure, and the Rams lost the game right after that punt return. You can feel the momentum change. Yep, I agree. It didn't take you really any time off the clock. Make them drive the field because the more you make them drive the field, the greater the chances you get of the flex, you get another pick. Maybe another turnover, Ocho. But that was a quick, and then they got a two-point conversion. So Marco Polo, Doc Corleone, keep the beard. Get that Jalen Brownish. Nah, man, I ain't colored it. I just cut it off before I color it. Deshaun underscore show, big fan.

1:01:02Shannon Sharpe:Who's your defensive player of the year and offensive player of the year? DPO White, unanimous. in Cleveland. Miles Garrett. Miles Garrett. Offensive player of the year.

1:01:19Shannon Sharpe:I think the offensive player of the year might be the same guy as the MVP. Because we don't have a running back that's doing anything, you know, we thought Jonathan Taylor was foregone conclusion, Ocho, because he had like 11, 1200 yards with like seven games to go. and now he's rushed for like 300 yards in the last six games.

1:01:46Shannon Sharpe:I can't see them giving that award to a quarterback say, okay, Josh Allen is the offensive player of the year, but Matthew Stafford is the MVP. So I think whoever wins the MVP will be offensive player of the year. Right.

1:02:04Shannon Sharpe:Puka was talking to the refs about the situation between him and the rookie cornerback. I guess. They got Puka. They was talking to Puka. Puka's like, I'm going to put that thing on y 'all. OG underscore Thanos. Is this the best Thursday night game y 'all have ever seen? It's up there. It's up there. And these are two really good defenses that I mean, Seattle's really good, and they almost got 600 yards of total defense, our offense put on them at home. It's crazy.

1:02:43Shannon Sharpe:King's Journey, oh, you were in real form last night. You had me crying laughing. Ocho, you owe me$5 ,900 for that Shahid pick. Yeah, you do. Out of one, all I had to do was take Shahid 100, another$131. Every little bit of help.

1:03:06Shannon Sharpe:Kevin Bonite, tell Puka to hit the locker room. It's a spread waiting for him. Lamb chops and everything. No eating after a loss. Hashtag 49ers. Hashtag faithful. El Pray Nighting, can't believe you had grown men crying in the woods over his lady and to be caught twice with the same chick as Wilde. Man, you bringing up old stuff, El Prey. Yeah, El Prey. I didn't get caught with this. Oh, I did. Uh, dang. Your boy Sammy, Jalen Carter, Jalen Hurst, Jalen Ramsey, Jalen Naylor. Puka and Five. Puka went out today. 1:08:05Shannon Sharpe:Look, he could have easily folded. they took a lot of pressure off him. They let a lot of pressure slip, Ocho, by letting that punt return happen. And then, you know, and it was another big play. Didn't they throw a screen to Rashid? Shahid, and he ran it down there, ran another like, hold on, who was that? Who ran that long-ass play? A Russian, it was, yeah, it was Shahid. 31-yard rush play, yeah, it was him. no he the Vikings wish they had him the Vikings would be in playoff contention if they had Sam Darnold absolutely uh TS Car Watch Detail Service Ocho Houston House is going to look like Boosie House in Atlanta
